Julian Contreras Jr: Jeez.
Kendahl: You know, we keep saying, we're not going to do this. We're going to stay on task and then.
Julian Contreras Jr: At this point, there are no excuses. It's just... Whatever. We're here now where we have topics. Let's just roll Just go with it.
Kendahl: uh you know i think i think the crazy part is is that there's so many times like i you know there's times that i wish that our text conversations and sometimes even our phone conversations could be part of this show because i think people would be entertained by it for the fact that you know
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: Well, we might have to put a we might have to put an adult rating on some of the conversations.
Julian Contreras Jr: uh yeah we'd have to stop being pg -13 for sure especially on my end
Kendahl: is So, but no, I mean, so much crazy has happened.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: You know, quick rundown on on on my side. uh i've you know school's out i had the summer I went to Ireland. So if you're listening from Ireland.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yes, you did
Kendahl: Hello? You are beautiful people.
Julian Contreras Jr: but
Kendahl: And i i I felt home. I was at home. if yeah If you know who I look like. I have red hair. I have freckles. I... I'm very I very much of Irish descent.
Julian Contreras Jr: Nice.
Kendahl: a
Julian Contreras Jr: I appreciate you not throwing on an Irish accent for this.
Kendahl: Oh, gosh, no. No, no. my I had a family member ask me, i did you gain the accent? Because I was there for two weeks. And I was like, oh. No.
Julian Contreras Jr: No.
Kendahl: So the only thing that's really funny though, I got to say this much in Ireland, there are shirts everywhere. that says... that that it has Like a shirt. And it says,
Kendahl: Fetch a nidget.
Julian Contreras Jr: Oh, nice.
Kendahl: And it's like.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: So. If... if you read it slow enough and you have a nice accent you'll understand what i'm saying but we'll leave it at that pg -13 so
Kendahl: So I go to Ireland I come back I'm home for quite literally Okay, I leave Ireland. Their time. Noon, which is 7 a .m.
Julian Contreras Jr: All right.
Kendahl: My time 5 a .m. Your time Okay. I... arrive in in the United States back at home. at three o 'clock. My time.
Kendahl: So. it That would be 8 o 'clock Ireland time in the afternoon, evening time, right?
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: I then have to run, go pick up my travel trailer because they're having to fix it after the stupid accident that happened. I then spend the next five hours. getting things cleaned packed ready because we're about to head to tennessee for a travel trailer trip I end up going to bed.
Kendahl: 1030 at night My time. And I had been up. From. uh since 2 AM. My time.
Kendahl: when Since I was in Ireland.
Julian Contreras Jr: Oh wow.
Kendahl: so I know my I was I was exhausted
Julian Contreras Jr: You didn't sleep on the plane at all?
Kendahl: I was exhausted. No, not on that not on the way back. It was just because it was middle of the day. I couldn't go to sleep. Now. I'm telling you on the way there.
Kendahl: No, I slept the whole freaking time because I don't remember the plane ride So but anyway, yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, that's good.
Kendahl: So then we try so then we jump in the trailer and we drive and we're gone for another two weeks driving down to the Smoky Mountains, coming back around into North Carolina and then straight up through. the East coast.
Kendahl: And it was just it was I was gone. for I had even had some people texting me. They're like, hey, I haven't seen you in a while. I'm like, because I haven't been home.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: I was gone for five weeks total.
Julian Contreras Jr: It's a world traveler this guy
Kendahl: between all of it. I know right it was crazy but So that was a quick rundown. of of my life over the last several weeks.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: How about you? How's how's your summer been?
Julian Contreras Jr: Uh, Actually didn't do anything fun like that. My stuff's coming up. Obviously, no I'm a huge Mammoth fan now. as of last year.
Kendahl: No.
Julian Contreras Jr: I don't even think it's been a year. it's been Six months. But. uh there's a the season starting in october we have tickets to quite a few games already and i'm just waiting for that so my summer vacation really hasn't started yet it kind of starts this weekend with my anniversary trip
Kendahl: okay
Kendahl: Nice.
Julian Contreras Jr: Happy anniversary to my lovely wife, by the way. It's the 18th.
Kendahl: Wow
Julian Contreras Jr: 18th year. Yeah, that's right. It's pretty fun.
Kendahl: I'm not trying to one up you, but we went to Ireland for our 25th.
Kendahl: That was why.
Julian Contreras Jr: That's why I'm trying to plan something for the 20th. I'll see if I can one -up you. I don't think it's going to be Ireland. but
Kendahl: I... My 20th was in the heart of COVID. So my 20th was spent sitting in a car watching a movie.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: with my wife on our anniversary. but
Julian Contreras Jr: That works too.
Kendahl: Thank you, COVID.
Julian Contreras Jr: So. My stuff's coming up. We've done a few little things. like I have to tell you this story. I text you about it right when it happened.
Kendahl: huh
Julian Contreras Jr: We went to a monster truck show All right.
Kendahl: Right Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Simple. monster truck show I haven't told you any of this story, so the listeners and you are going to hear about this for the first time ever.
Kendahl: Yeah, you're like, dude, I got to tell you. And I was like, okay. and
Julian Contreras Jr: Alright. So intermission monster trucks, they say they're going to play. a round of musical chairs. All right.
Kendahl: here
Julian Contreras Jr: I mean there's usually something fun like that. all the time. This version of... musical chairs just happens to be with dizzy goggles or drunk goggles depending on where you buy them
Kendahl: Got it.
Julian Contreras Jr: It was only females allowed, so there was five or six of them. Can't remember. Five or six. The very first round, they finally get the girls and they put them. behind a line.
Julian Contreras Jr: And they they insist that they've talked to him about the rules. And they know what they are. and the announcer tells to us i don't know if he's joking or not But he says...
Julian Contreras Jr: Uh... biting, scratching, and all this other stuff. is fully acceptable. Right?
Kendahl: Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: So like, we're just laughing about it in the crowd. We're like, yeah, that's really funny. uh they start playing the music and they have to walk around the set of chairs that's maybe 20 feet ahead of them And if they get past the last chair on the way back, they have to run back around the line to get back over there.
Kendahl: Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: so the music's playing playing playing Music stops. Four girls get the chair. There's one chair left.
Julian Contreras Jr: Oh. My. Goodness, Kendall. This turned into a WWE wwe match. For real. The girl. go I'm going to replay this the best I can. bear with me first girl who goes over there gets maybe half a butt cheek on the chair the other girl straight up shoves her in the back
Kendahl: Oh jeez.
Julian Contreras Jr: she goes down they both fall on the chair the legs are in the air of the chair i was pretty sure somebody was gonna fall on the leg part They're grappling. They're wrestling over this chair. They're pulling it back and forth. They somehow get it set up.
Julian Contreras Jr: And the one girl is going to sit on it. And. This happened right in front of me. She grabs her. Puts her in a headlock. By her hip. Right.
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: I swear she thought about it for half a second. And then straight up DDT's her. Right on top of that hard monster truck dirt
Kendahl: You're like, I didn't know i was playing I was paying for a cage match, but this is good.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah. Uh... it was crazy i had learned i turned over to my son and i was like Oh my gosh, she just DDT'd her. And he's all excited now. And the crowd just goes silent because this girl does not get up.
Kendahl: hu
Kendahl: Oh no.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, it was. it was a full -on ddt there was no holding back at all kendall
Kendahl: Jeez.
Julian Contreras Jr: So she finally starts.
Kendahl: What was the prize? What was the prize in this situation?
Julian Contreras Jr: What was the prize? The prize. The price was $100.
Kendahl: Oh, geez.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: Okay. i was I thought you were going to say something like a car. or
Julian Contreras Jr: No. No, sir. $100.
Kendahl: Right?
Julian Contreras Jr: uh so the girl gets up and they they shake hands and they hug a little bit but i mean there's no forgiveness i the girl just got
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: dumped on her head in the middle of a rodeo arena
Kendahl: Cheese. Hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: everybody's watching everyone's silent and like when she stands up we start clapping you know like You doing?
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: people are injured
Kendahl: Like a sports thing.
Julian Contreras Jr: And they had and had announced that the girl that... committed the crime, I guess is what I'm going to say.
Kendahl: now
Julian Contreras Jr: She was getting married the next week.
Kendahl: Oh my gosh.
Julian Contreras Jr: and so after it all ended she ended up in second place another girl won And. the announcer guy was like, Well, congratulations to this girl. She won this one.
Julian Contreras Jr: And a big round of applause for this girl. they Got second place. And to her husband, future husband. I'm Sorry?
Kendahl: na ha
Julian Contreras Jr: It was. insane the coolest thing and I should have got it on videotape and I could have put it on Instagram or something, but I'm trying. This old school method of actually being at the event, not being to be behind your phone.
Kendahl: Yeah, I got you. mm -hmm
Julian Contreras Jr: Cause I would much rather, I have a lot of concerts coming up.
Julian Contreras Jr: And I don't want to be stuck behind my phone recording.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Who was think singing a song? You know, I want to be in the moment.
Kendahl: Oh, you're going to Hoobastank?
Julian Contreras Jr: I am. And a lot of our listeners are going to laugh.
Kendahl: Jeez
Julian Contreras Jr: and
Kendahl: Wow
Julian Contreras Jr: But yeah, we're...
Kendahl: No, a lot of our listeners are going.
Julian Contreras Jr: Going to Hoobastink.
Kendahl: Who? Buh stink.
Julian Contreras Jr: Hoobastank. It's Hoobastank with an A.
Kendahl: What?
Julian Contreras Jr: just so They changed it from a U to an A.
Kendahl: Hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: and i haven't seen them in years but that's one of the many concerts that i have coming up
Kendahl: Dang.
Julian Contreras Jr: I also have Hollywood and Dead. We're going to go see.
Kendahl: Oh wow. That's cool.
Julian Contreras Jr: I got VIP for those guys again, always.
Kendahl: Nice. Nice.
Julian Contreras Jr: So my stuff is coming up. You've just finished your stuff.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: and i want to get into some of these shows let's do shows first
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Uh, that we can recommend to our ticket holders because that's what we're here for. We're here to shut off, turn on.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Kendahl: Oh, man.
Julian Contreras Jr: And.
Kendahl: i
Julian Contreras Jr: Watch some shows.
Kendahl: You know, I watched a ton of stuff over my travels because of... One reason or another. and it's It's funny because... Uh... i i watched a lot of movies that you and I had talked about in the past.
Kendahl: you know, Just like a quick rundown. I watched Running Man. I liked it. I recommend it. 100 % recommend it. It's out there streaming on like...
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: who knows how many different plus spots i know it's on peacock i know it's on paramount i know it's on
Julian Contreras Jr: That's... Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: Yeah, go find it. Go watch it. Definitely worth it. I finally watched The Long Walk.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yes, you did. You talked talk to me about that one.
Kendahl: Screw you to the person that wrote the ending of that movie. I don't care anymore. We're leaving it at that. That's the dumbest thing in the world.
Julian Contreras Jr: I told you they changed it.
Kendahl: Oh I was mad.
Julian Contreras Jr: and
Kendahl: I was mad
Julian Contreras Jr: Yes, you were. You texted me like as soon as it ended.
Kendahl: oh the second This no no no no the second it happened I put I threw my phone down and I said Are you serious? And my son goes, what? He had just been reading the book.
Kendahl: And I said, I'm not telling you. I'm not doing this. I'm not doing this. He goes, what? And I'm like, I'm not doing this. This is stupid. I'm so mad
Julian Contreras Jr: okay
Kendahl: So talk about.
Julian Contreras Jr: So it's worth it's still worth a watch, yes, but the ending was...
Kendahl: it's a good watch it's a hard watch but it's a good watch yeah it's just geez why Like...
Julian Contreras Jr: Definitely changed.
Kendahl: Anyway. Okay, moving on. So... But... though there is there is one i do want to talk about it's a brand new one it's called the last house
Julian Contreras Jr: I have not seen this one.
Kendahl: And.
Julian Contreras Jr: You told me it was on Netflix.
Kendahl: Yeah, so there's there' was a stunt that was done in Los Angeles. This guy's up on a billboard. He's living in this billboard, and they're just kind of watching him for a couple of days, and then one day he just disappears.
Kendahl: And it's like he's stuck inside this house. Well, that's what the show is about. Right. So you have the guy's name is Louis. ti literor li terary I don't know how to say his last name. But, I mean, the guys the guy has done a lot of movies, and they're they're movies that you've heard of, right? So he is the director of Fast X.
Kendahl: He did. He did. the movie called the delivery. I don't know if you saw that one. the brothers Grimsby, he did that one. Now you see me he did that Clash of the Titans, Incredible Hulk, Transporter.
Kendahl: Like, this guy is... been out there, right? He's done some movies that people have heard of.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: So good movie. or Or a good list and this movie is called the last house and it basically is about this family who is literally one day It starts raining and they cannot leave their house.
Kendahl: Can't leave it. It's it's locked shut. And it was like, it starts following them day by day. How do they survive? and then Is it the world? Is it the neighborhood? Is it the block? Is it the few houses what's going on? And the mystery kind of stays that way for most of the movie.
Kendahl: i The reason I wanted to talk about this, because I was telling you about this, I... I was really surprised. so i go online i start looking at it rotten tomatoes right now is sitting at a whopping 27%.
Julian Contreras Jr: Wow.
Kendahl: So here's the fun part. Or not the fun part. Here's the other part. The audience score is a 28. And I thought... What? Now here's the thing In...
Kendahl: In all of this movie... i I had the same questions I started reading on these audience scores. It was, okay, they didn't really explain a lot. it just seemed like it all kind of happened really quickly And the whole time there's a lot of questions that you're having that end up not being answered.
Kendahl: I'll give it that. But this movie is... entertaining, to say the least. like I had my entire family. sitting through this until this whole movie and i mean it's it's not a really long movie it's an hour and 50 minutes so it's just under two hours
Julian Contreras Jr: right
Kendahl: And. it's pretty enthralling Like, I'll be honest with you. There's a couple of low moments where it's like, okay, you want to do the old TiVo thing. You know, come on.
Kendahl: But... That's not... throughout the film. And the acting? is decent like these are pretty much not as many known actors
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: it's decent The plot... is weird. But it's decent. But then it kind of ends in a weird way. And. I'll admit. it gives you this like Uh... Oh. Kay?
Kendahl: Sure. But watching the movie throughout the movie, it's good. And I think this movie is not getting enough good credit because... It's fun. It's...
Kendahl: it's different? It definitely. present this very different concept. His family lives ultimately in this house for a very long time. I'm not going to say a lot about it because it's a very, very new streaming. It just barely came out. And I don't want to give anything away of how long or anything like that. But.
Kendahl: Hands down. The plot... Twist is interesting. does it It also is like. Okay, that sure. I get it
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: And I can understand why people don't like it because of that. But ultimately... this was this was This was a fun... movie This is exactly what we talk about. Shut off. shut the world off, shut the news off, shut all that stuff off.
Kendahl: and turn on something that just makes you forget about it. And that's exactly what this movie does
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah. I will say like what's funny about our.
Kendahl: So.
Julian Contreras Jr: Podcast title. obviously But. Sometimes there's people that are doing other movie reviews or TV show reviews. And they get so close to saying.
Julian Contreras Jr: the name of our podcast. every time they started with shut off and I'm like, do it. Say it.
Kendahl: ha
Julian Contreras Jr: and But they just don't. But that's funny.
Kendahl: It's okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay, so that was the last house. I am definitely going to give that a watch.
Kendahl: Yeah, try it out. I would love to hear what your thoughts on on it, because... i I agree in the fact that the movie sucks for an ending. It's hands down.
Julian Contreras Jr: You said no spoilers.
Kendahl: I hate... Well, no, I mean the movie they has that has a terrible ending It does.
Julian Contreras Jr: Oh.
Kendahl: its
Julian Contreras Jr: Awesome. It's a long walk all over again.
Kendahl: No, it does it now No, no, no Not that.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: No. don't start me on that But... But the thing is, is that the lead up to where it comes to the end. is definitely worth the watch.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: I liked it.
Julian Contreras Jr: I am gonna go to...
Kendahl: So.
Julian Contreras Jr: A huge blockbuster that somehow you haven't seen yet.
Kendahl: Oh my gosh. Okay, I'm going to let you talk about it, and then I'll tell you why I haven't seen it.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay. I'm obviously talking about the fantastic. Christopher Nolan. In the Odyssey. I don't know how you haven't seen it.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: You've told explained it to me a little bit, but.
Kendahl: Oh.
Julian Contreras Jr: I was actually. This is going to sound weird, but I went to brunch with a couple friends. Couple guy friends. And all of a sudden they were like. Hey, do you want to go see this movie? I was like, I don't know. I'm kind of.
Julian Contreras Jr: Kind of busy today. And they really twisted my arm for 15 seconds and said, oh, it's playing over here at this IMAX and there's three seats left. And I thought I was like, Okay, let's go.
Julian Contreras Jr: They're like, what, really? Like, yeah, it's fine. I'll just put everything else off. So they... Like I call it a little, uh, they bro -napped me.
Kendahl: Sure.
Julian Contreras Jr: Drove over to the IMAX. theater and My one friend who was there at breakfast, he had just seen it the night before.
Kendahl: Oh, okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: And he was seeing it less than seven hours later.
Kendahl: Haha. i mean I have heard nothing but good about it, and it it breaks my heart that I have not seen it.
Julian Contreras Jr: See ya.
Kendahl: But again, I'll tell you guys in a minute.
Julian Contreras Jr: I really really loved this movie Going into it, I think we talked about it and it seemed like we weren't going to like it at all. But I feel like it's the information that was getting put out there.
Julian Contreras Jr: was on purpose. Just to say, oh yeah, this movie is going to be trash. It's going to be garbage. It's doing all this stuff. It's doing this. nobody's gonna see this movie and this thing just raked in
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: The reviews. The money. the people watching it over and over again in IMAX which is hard to get tickets for
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: I haven't tried this week but I don't know if it's probably still hard to get tickets, probably why you haven't seen it yet.
Kendahl: I wish that was the reason. Ha ha.
Julian Contreras Jr: But everybody did. A fantastic job in... this movie. I did watch a little reel that. They were. Talking about Tom Holland's character.
Julian Contreras Jr: And they asked him how old he was. And he's like, I think I'm. Am I 18? And then he's going back and forth with Matt Damon. and there he's like I think he was 20.
Julian Contreras Jr: And I did the math. He's like, well, if you left it when he was two.
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: You came back 20 years later, that would make him 22.
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: and he's like oh that's right and then tom holland looks at the camera and he's like I think I've made a mistake because I played him as 16.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: And they all start laughing. so i mean did he play him a little young Yeah, that I mean, that could be the only critique in that.
Kendahl: Oh.
Julian Contreras Jr: Like, he didn't have... like the the super masculine energy of his dad you know he was kind of like i need to find my dad i need to do this but he wasn't really like the man of the house
Kendahl: Yeah.
Kendahl: Got it.
Julian Contreras Jr: And but. That's nitpicking. Honestly.
Kendahl: Well...
Julian Contreras Jr: I've only seen it the one time.
Julian Contreras Jr: But I absolutely loved it. I give it a 9 out of 10.
Kendahl: You know, I think one of the things that's interesting about this movie, though, is there's a couple of fun facts that I found out about this movie. One is, did you know Christopher Nolan does not own a cell phone?
Julian Contreras Jr: No, but good for him.
Kendahl: Yeah, he does not have a cell phone And when somebody.
Julian Contreras Jr: It's not because he can't afford it. I'll tell you that
Kendahl: Well, somebody asked him, like, how do you get through with like emails and texts and phone calls and stuff? And he says, well, if I have to make a phone call, I'll do it on a landline in my home. he said but if i have to email or text he goes i have people that surround me that do that for me.
Kendahl: And I thought to myself... privilege much, but... But at the same time, he said it just... He feels like if he had a cell phone. He would be. addicted to looking at the world around him differently.
Kendahl: And he feels like not having a cell phone allows him. to see a world that doesn't exist so that he can produce something. that we can see.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay, I like it.
Kendahl: And I was like, okay, I get it. So that was interesting and then to this film has so much practical effect in it in places that people were like Oh, no, that was CGI. And even at one point, the actors.
Kendahl: We're expecting to be in a position where they had a green screen or they had like you know bobbleheads or or puppets. in in a cgi moment and it ended up being Just. pure practical effects.
Kendahl: and it blew and even they were blown away by the way it turned out on film because they did not expect it to be as They just didn't expect it to be what it was, what it turned to be out. you know like One of the scenes is when Matt Damon's character is fighting the Giants.
Kendahl: Well, it turns out that's just a 411 actress. against... I think it was like a half a dozen guys that were like seven something.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay
Kendahl: so Yeah, of course it looks like they're giants compared to Matt Damon, who's six foot, and these guys look like they're 12 foot something. Well, yeah, it's because you would literally have... a woman that was presented to look like matt damon from the back from the back position And.
Kendahl: you know, she's just under five foot. And these guys are massive compared to her, you know?
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: So. And then I don't know the scene. but the scene where the The pig transition is what i been I've been told.
Julian Contreras Jr: Oh, yeah. yeah
Kendahl: That was Practical Effects.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, I have seen that they explained it on one of the videos I was watching
Kendahl: yeah It's crazy to me.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: So, but yeah, I mean, so, alright. All that being said, here's the here's how I have not seen this movie. Okay. So.
Julian Contreras Jr: All right, here we go, folks.
Kendahl: Alright.
Julian Contreras Jr: Buckle in.
Kendahl: So it comes out while I'm on vacation still in my travels, right? So it it is debuted in that position. So I can't go see it opening weekend. Amen. So. You and I were texting back and forth about it and I said, well, I'm gonna see it when I get back So we get we get back in town on... Sunday.
Kendahl: And Monday I have to work. And then Tuesday, I hit up my wife and I said, hey. So I really want to go see this movie. Let's go see it on Friday.
Kendahl: And she's like, oh yeah, that sounds great. And I said, okay, so. I i go to get tickets. And I tell her the timeframe and she's like, how long is the movie? And I said, oh, well, it's like. like two hours and 40 something minutes.
Kendahl: And she's like, oh. Let's wait till we're closer to the day to see if we can get... you know to see if i'm ready for that No tickets available.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: Not even a bit. No tickets at all. It is sold out on every theater except for like the crazy times at like 10 in the morning and 9 .30 at night, right? so we end up not seeing it.
Kendahl: So then I tell you, alright, I'm going to go see it this week. and then like this next week going in And I tell the wife, I said, hey, it was like. Tuesday afternoon. I said, hey, I'm going to go get tickets to watch.
Kendahl: and the Odyssey. this week because i'm off i have i have some time to i had gotten stuff done and she's like no don't do that i really want to go see this movie with you And I said, no, you're literally going to tell me.
Kendahl: On Friday. You don't want to see a movie. and she's like no no no i promise you well at this point this was the week that So now Spider -Man has come out and... I end up.
Kendahl: you know going and seeing in that so i did go see that well Kind of touch on that here in a second, but
Julian Contreras Jr: Mhm.
Kendahl: I... I told her, I'm like, I can get tickets. And the tickets are really not sold out anytime. And I keep checking them, checking them, checking them. Thursday or Friday morning.
Kendahl: she's off i'm off and i look at her and i said so We're gonna go see this movie tonight. And she shoots me that look and I said, I told you you wouldn't want to see it. And sure enough, she doesn't want to see it. So now here we are at this position, right? So it was one of those moments because I kept saying, I want to go see it. And she's like, no, no, no, no. I really want to see it with you. and and then she She backed out both times.
Kendahl: At the last second.
Julian Contreras Jr: That's okay. You'll get there.
Kendahl: I will I will
Julian Contreras Jr: I would really hate for you to witness it the first time at home, but I mean, that's always an option.
Kendahl: I know.
Julian Contreras Jr: You do have the theater sound. You should be okay.
Kendahl: Well... i do you know the thing is i have upgraded my my home setup a little bit better i have a 70 plus inch tv now that's like full 4k the whole nine war yards like Super nice TV.
Kendahl: And I do have a better sound system. And so when I do watch movies, I'll be honest with you. it's Very entertaining. it's I'm not watching it on on a -inch phone screen or a 10 -inch monitor at my desk.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah. On an airplane.
Kendahl: you know Hey, you know, I watched it with you on the airplane. We'll talk about that in a minute too, but that that was also pretty good.
Julian Contreras Jr: All right.
Kendahl: But, all right.
Julian Contreras Jr: i have a little story when we were walking to our seats it was an imax theater so it was
Kendahl: Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: It's super steep
Kendahl: Mm -hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: So. Right before we go in there. We realize that we're late, but we figure there's going to be trailers. But apparently, when do you watch it that early in the morning. They don't play the trailers. They just go right into the movie to get as many iMac shows.
Kendahl: They're like. they're like let's just get this over with
Julian Contreras Jr: So. I missed the first 10 to 15 minutes, I've been told, is the whole Travis Scott part. So I haven't seen that yet. Maybe the next time I watch it.
Kendahl: Okay. Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: I'll see it. So I'm like, okay, I'll lead the way because. They're both hard of seeing. I'm like, where are the seats? He gets the tickets out. It's like. It's K -1, 2, and 3. K is the very top.
Julian Contreras Jr: All right. So I'm like, okay.
Kendahl: Ha ha.
Julian Contreras Jr: One, two, three. It's on this side. We ask. I start marching up these stairs and as we're watching, I'm like, oh crap, the movie's already on. So I make an eye contact with. every person that i'm walking by because they're like what What's your problem?
Kendahl: yeah What are you doing?
Julian Contreras Jr: Thank you. Why are you late? And I'm like, I know, I know.
Kendahl: okay
Julian Contreras Jr: I'm sorry. We get all the way to the top. To K -1, 2, and 3. And guess what? There are butts in our seats.
Kendahl: Oh, geez.
Julian Contreras Jr: So. Now I have nowhere to go. I'm in the corner. And i'm I look over to my friend and I'm like. What number did you say? He's at K -1, 2, and 3. And I look at these chairs and it says, one, two, three.
Julian Contreras Jr: And so. Instead of making a huge scene or drama or whatever, but these people know they're in the wrong seat. And my buddy's like, hey, there's three right down here. together so let's just go down there So we go back down the stairs one level and we're on L.
Julian Contreras Jr: And we sit there. And after the movie ends, we talk and I'm like, let me see the phone. like Did you tell me wrong? Because I stood in front of these people for a good. 45 seconds.
Kendahl: Sure.
Julian Contreras Jr: not having anywhere to go and squatting down doesn't make sense because they're reclined so he shows me the ticket and sure enough it was k one two and three these people just Chose the wrong aisle.
Julian Contreras Jr: Made us look like idiots.
Kendahl: hey
Julian Contreras Jr: so I feel bad for half a second. And then I was like, whatever. They were in the wrong. I i knew where I was going.
Kendahl: Oh my gosh. That's funny.
Julian Contreras Jr: but What else we got to talk about? I got a couple more movies. Let's talk about Spider -Man real quick.
Kendahl: Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: no absolutely no spoilers we're not getting into any characters
Kendahl: No. No. so before we start this review or talk about it i gotta tell you a funny story about this so i i take my two boys
Julian Contreras Jr: okay
Kendahl: So I take my oldest boy, he's he's turning 20. And then I take my other older boy. He's 16. because i figured this movie is a i know there's some things in this movie i was like oh i want to make sure I see it before I let my 13 year old or my 12 year old see it.
Kendahl: So. uh we go we see it and my my one son who's 16 i i love him to death but he's he's very loud
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: And so we, I preemptively was like, okay, remember. sh like use your quiet voice in the theater please and he doesn't go to the theaters very often and We're... We're halfway in the movie.
Kendahl: And there's a scene. it's the best scene this is the the big potatoes big potatoes small potatoes moment right
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay. Okay, got it.
Kendahl: So we have Florence Pugh. Half naked in a pool. And Spider -Man has to take his. his uniform off, right?
Julian Contreras Jr: Yep.
Kendahl: So you see his abs. He's just ripped. And my son looks over. I forgot how ripped he is. just that loud. so The whole theater is dead silent. And he just...
Kendahl: blurts out, I forgot how ripped he is. Really loud. Everybody's starting looking at us.
Julian Contreras Jr: Nice.
Kendahl: And I was like... Shhh! He goes. oh i'm sorry So. So then we get into the whole movie. And then and then he's did the the movie's ending.
Kendahl: And he he says something else, or he comes up and he goes... I thought you said it was sad. and Like, really loud. Again, movie's not over.
Kendahl: I was like... oh My gosh, dude
Julian Contreras Jr: Nice. Inside voice.
Kendahl: is So I had to remind him. I had to remind him Bring your voice down at a movie theater.
Julian Contreras Jr: Very nice.
Kendahl: So.
Julian Contreras Jr: So.
Kendahl: Anyway.
Julian Contreras Jr: I know you saw it and I know I saw it.
Kendahl: I did.
Julian Contreras Jr: Without going into any spoilers. What did you give this movie?
Kendahl: Oh, it's a nine and a half. I'd almost give it a 10.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay, all right good. I'm right there with you i'm eight and a half or nine i liked it a lot it was awesome i feel like i could watch all this of these spider -man Back.
Julian Contreras Jr: to back to back to back and not be bored.
Kendahl: Mm hmm. Mm -hmm Oh absolutely. Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Just something about the... Like the charisma. i guess
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: no that's not the right word
Kendahl: it's It's like the flow of the movie. and the the The flow of these movies is always just so... Uh... it's very entertaining very enthralling and whenever there's like a low moment it's it's like that's where the comedic element timing whatever you want to call it
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: Starts like peak and then it And then the drama starts again. And then by the time the drama slows down and things start to seem like it's like, oh, OK, well, what's going on? There's of an amazing comedic moment. You're like, oh, this is great. And then it. ramps up again right it just
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: it does this it does this constant you know low high low high and it keeps the person just absolutely glued to the screen
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, and we will definitely touch more about this and maybe a week or two when there's
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Absolutely. Everyone has seen it. I mean, it's made a lot of money. I think most everyone has already seen it, but just in case some of our ticket holders haven't made it there yet. That'll be next episode or an episode after that. It'll be fine.
Kendahl: So on that note, this is actually the highest grossing opening weekend for a Marvel movie, including Ever.
Julian Contreras Jr: I know, and i so I really want to watch Endgame and Infinity War again.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: And I probably will do that here tonight or tomorrow.
Kendahl: But, I mean...
Julian Contreras Jr: I've been watching a lot of 80s movies.
Kendahl: okay
Julian Contreras Jr: I'm on an eighties kick.
Kendahl: Oh, okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: And so I've watched. Uh, We started to watch nine and a half weeks.
Kendahl: Oh wow.
Julian Contreras Jr: But we had to turn it off because... you know Uh...
Julian Contreras Jr: But. I was, I looked at the
Kendahl: If you don't know, go watch it.
Julian Contreras Jr: The actor. Yeah, yeah I haven't seen it all, but I've seen. some things.
Julian Contreras Jr: Uh. I... Turned to my wife and I was like. damn he actually was a handsome guy wasn't he
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: And she's like. Who is that? Like, it's Mickey Rourke.
Kendahl: Mm -hmm
Julian Contreras Jr: She's like, what?
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: are you serious i'm like yeah that's mickey rourke
Kendahl: Yeah, before his his his before all of his surgery mess -ups.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, and so I was like, yeah. Alright. So we watched part of that.
Kendahl: So. All right. So there there's actually a list out there called the Hot 100. And it is a how to spice up your your love life with your your spouse.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: And that movie is in that is the in that hot 100.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: so if
Julian Contreras Jr: i've only made it to the lamp scene so Have a minute. Much farther than that. But I've also watched Howard the Duck.
Kendahl: Oh, wow. Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah. It's something.
Kendahl: Some animal instinct there.
Julian Contreras Jr: I've seen it before And I've seen it. A few times, but... It's got. Marty's mom. Leah Thompson in it.
Kendahl: Mia Thompson, yep.
Julian Contreras Jr: So last night. I was. looking for something 80s to watch and i couldn't really find anything and then i found red dawn
Kendahl: oh That's good
Julian Contreras Jr: from 84
Kendahl: Kurt Russell.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yet. No, no, no.
Kendahl: Isn't it Kurt Russell? No.
Julian Contreras Jr: No, it sways.
Kendahl: Yeah, oh yeah Patrick Swayze that's on it
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah. So now I mean, I like got an 80s kick and. a Patrick Swayze kick because I also watched Roadhouse for the first time.
Kendahl: Mmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: Not the Jake Gyllenhaal. but the Swayze one. And oh my goodness, how have I not seen this movie? This was... a great 80s movie. Like, the fighting was... like Very choreographed.
Kendahl: It's 80s fighting. It's 80s fighting.
Julian Contreras Jr: There was a lot of like explosions for no reason and a lot of like weird humor, and then nudity for no reason.
Kendahl: here
Julian Contreras Jr: at all
Kendahl: Just random. Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: just super random but i'll watch it again you know i have nothing against the movie
Kendahl: Yep. It's PG, you know, I'm just kidding
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah that one is rated R.
Kendahl: Yeah. Yeah, it is.
Julian Contreras Jr: I did get a little bit worried when... Sam Elliott. who was super young in this movie.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: they're comparing scars and he's like, I'll show you a scar that I'm proud of. And he just drops his drawers. And like I was like, whoa, where are we going? what's What's happening in here?
Kendahl: I'm going to meet little Sam Elliott.
Julian Contreras Jr: Ha ha!
Kendahl: but
Julian Contreras Jr: But that's the 80s for you. You never know what was around the corner.
Kendahl: yeah that's a good movie That's a good movie. You know, it's so funny.
Julian Contreras Jr: All right, so yeah.
Kendahl: I actually just watched a movie. uh of Central Intelligence. have you seen that movie yeah
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay. Yeah, you watched that when you were going to watch the long walk.
Kendahl: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We ended up watching that. And that has reference to to Roadhouse at the very end when he takes out. It takes out what's -his -name. And he's like, I'm going to roadhouse you. and He tears out his throat.
Julian Contreras Jr: Oh, with the throat.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah. So. I told that whole story to get back to Red Dawn. Guess who else is in Red Dawn? Leah Thompson.
Kendahl: Oh, she is. That's right.
Julian Contreras Jr: She is, her and Jennifer Grey.
Kendahl: Yeah, oh yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: If you know... Jennifer Gray, she's from...
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: Dirty dancing.
Kendahl: Dirty dancing, yep.
Julian Contreras Jr: But I see Leah Thompson again and my wife walks in the room and I'm like, she's like, is that Leah Thompson again? I was like. uh Yeah, it is.
Kendahl: Apparently.
Julian Contreras Jr: but that Yeah, it now it seems like I have a huge crush on Marty's mom. But...
Kendahl: Who doesn't? Just kidding.
Julian Contreras Jr: i don't she just is in a lot of these 80 movies apparently
Kendahl: Yeah. Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: so
Julian Contreras Jr: all those are great movies 80s movies i'm on it for like the next week until i find something else
Kendahl: yeah
Julian Contreras Jr: but that's what i've been watching but i did go i want to talk about A movie that I knew. was going to be bad. But me and my buddy had to see it.
Kendahl: Oh, geez. Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: All right. And I... I... wholeheartedly respect this director. He's made a lot of movies that I like. And my brother likes, and it's a lot of gory stuff.
Kendahl: But I think the thing...
Julian Contreras Jr: It's Eli Roth.
Kendahl: Yeah, but I mean he's also done movies like the house with the clock in the walls, right?
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: like I mean, if you ever like if you have kids, you can see that movie. It's a great movie. He's a good director. like
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, he also did Thanksgiving which people like and I I didn't really care for that one.
Kendahl: oh that's really good yeah Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: I didn't like the...
Kendahl: I thought it was okay. It's that netflix Netflix, right? Is that on Netflix?
Julian Contreras Jr: Uh,
Kendahl: I don't know.
Julian Contreras Jr: It's on one of them right now, but I remember I watched it.
Kendahl: I can't remember. Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: and It's okay. I didn't like...
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: The ending I put it together too easily But we had to go see this movie.
Kendahl: Agreed.
Julian Contreras Jr: And of course, I'm talking about. Ice Cream Man.
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: We watched it on opening night, me and my buddy. It ended up being one of those secret movies. So people had seen it the Monday before and the reviews started hitting Instagram.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: started hitting YouTube.
Kendahl: I had heard about that
Julian Contreras Jr: And they're just dragging this thing. It's the worst movie ever made.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: It's only this. It's full of AI and CGI. and All of this other stuff. Now, me, i I suppose I'm not smart enough to see the difference between AI and...
Julian Contreras Jr: CGI. I love it. a lot of these kills were ridiculous and you could tell they were done on the computer and they looked Almost horrible.
Kendahl: Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: Like. Because I'm a terrifier guy, I like my practical effects.
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: And there were some practical effects in this movie. But it was followed up. Or... pre -loaded to Bye. CGI or AI.
Kendahl: Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: I... I personally will never see this movie again. Honestly. But did I?
Kendahl: you and You and a lot of other people.
Julian Contreras Jr: Would... I say I absolutely hated this movie. No, I still had fun.
Kendahl: Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: I knew what it was going to be. I knew it was going to be nothing but. gory child violence. Just stupid premise. All is a plot holes left and right. Sure.
Julian Contreras Jr: Sure. I'll give you that
Kendahl: a
Julian Contreras Jr: But... Out of three out of ten. I had fun.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah. I had fun. Eli, you can come on the show anytime. i have uh cabin in the woods
Kendahl: Oh.
Julian Contreras Jr: uh, Poster right here
Kendahl: Yeah. I...
Julian Contreras Jr: so
Kendahl: I mean, that's one of my that's one of my favorite movies. So, I mean, honestly, that's what's funny. it's i heard I remember texting you. I was like, okay, well, get ready. Because this is, I've heard nothing but terrible.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah. And i knew I knew what it was going to be. And.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Some of the fun banter, like the script. and the way it was delivered i don't know it's probably the delivery but It was. Comical. I think the only time I.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Like followed this script completely was when they were having dinner and eli roth was playing the dad
Kendahl: Mm.
Julian Contreras Jr: And there was some fun banter back and forth.
Kendahl: Hmm. Alright.
Julian Contreras Jr: but It just didn't hit. I don't hate the guy at all. I'm not saying retire. I'm not saying worst movie ever made. because i've seen some duds there's some out there that have
Kendahl: Mhm.
Julian Contreras Jr: Razzie's galore.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: But Ice Cream Man, if you fully just want to see something gross for Halloween... stupid that you could drink to take a shot every time somebody does this Go ahead and do that safely.
Julian Contreras Jr: But.
Kendahl: Safely.
Julian Contreras Jr: I... I... I'm not gonna say I hated this movie at all.
Kendahl: That's funny. all right well i i mean honestly i think there's there's a There's a lot to be said about. being able to Make a movie like that with from el Eli Roth.
Kendahl: he also did there was a lot of publicity stunts with it with the ice cream man thing
Julian Contreras Jr: Yep.
Kendahl: And so. You know i Yeah. Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: it it is what it is kendall i saw it i wanted to give my opinion on it there it is
Kendahl: Yep.
Julian Contreras Jr: I liked it. Won't watch it again. Blah blah blah.
Kendahl: So. uh so the last thing i wanted to talk about so when i was in my on on the way home so i was flying
Kendahl: the The flight was seven hours, so I had to occupy it somehow. And I had the i had the great ability of having...
Julian Contreras Jr: cheese
Kendahl: I know, right? The, uh... The flight that I was on had Three brand new movies I got to choose from. It was Devil Wars Prada 2.
Julian Contreras Jr: All right.
Kendahl: It was the Michael movie. And then it was, good luck, have fun, don't die.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay.
Kendahl: And. And all three of them had just barely gone to you like rent from home type status. And so I was like, yeah, sure. Why not? They're all, you know, fairly newer. I'll look at it. And I decided on good luck, have fun, don't die.
Kendahl: Mainly because... Like I. I think it looked quirky so You've got... uh oh my gosh sam What is his name?
Kendahl: i'll get it here in a second so you've got the main character who is basically this crazy looking
Julian Contreras Jr: Rockwell.
Kendahl: Futuristic guy. he walks into a diner.
Julian Contreras Jr: Right.
Kendahl: and It says, hey. I'm from the future and everybody in this diner. is here for a reason and you're going to help me save the future from becoming this.
Kendahl: disgusting, dystopian, like... garbage hole.
Julian Contreras Jr: Mm -hmm
Kendahl: Sam Rockwell. so
Julian Contreras Jr: Yep.
Kendahl: Anyway, he he looks he looks through everybody and he's like Uh, not you. You're, you know... In the last 52 opportunities, you die within the first few seconds, right?
Julian Contreras Jr: Yep.
Kendahl: It's just the the whole first few minutes of this film. is I was laughing out loud. I'm on an airplane and my wife literally keeps looking over at me because I'm laughing so hard. It's just funny.
Kendahl: And. the whole movie ends up being about Like how. Your... like the reality is kind of what you make of it, but I'll give it this much. The movie ends in the most quirky, weird.
Kendahl: I... Totally saw it coming, but it was still good. You have to remember this movie has. no interest to be in reality. It is hands down.
Kendahl: It knows a thousand percent what it is by the time you get to the end of this movie.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yep.
Kendahl: I'm not giving anything away, but there's there's a giant cat giraffe that eats people. At one point.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: and It's hilarious.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, because I did watch it after you recommended me watch and I watched it the next day so I have seen this
Kendahl: Oh, okay. So...
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: So.
Julian Contreras Jr: See, I take your recommendations. That's what we're here for.
Kendahl: Yeah. it's it's It's crazy. But it's funny. like I thought this movie was quirky. It's funny. It definitely didn't get enough attention in the theaters because I think it was so weird.
Kendahl: But.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: i I thoroughly enjoyed this. i Myself, I'm going to give this movie like a 7 or an 8. I would see it again.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah. yeah it was funny and once you see it the first time then you'll like give it a week and you're like i should watch that again that way you'll catch more of the stuff
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: that's happening because it is one of those movies that does kind of go in chapters
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: it's like he's picking the group and then it shows you the background of how that person got to the restaurant that day.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Kendahl: Right.
Julian Contreras Jr: So you understand the backgrounds.
Kendahl: I mean, and it's... Well, and this movie is is very much a point to like current society of how we're just obsessed with. technology and how it gratifies this this thing in our brain in a weird way all the time and so there is definitely an underlying message in here that
Julian Contreras Jr: Mhm.
Kendahl: You know, we. kind of get sucked into social media and instant gratification and that brain rot material.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: But then at the same time, it makes it completely hilarious.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay. So the way this movie ended very much reminded me of... The devil's advocate. With Pacino.
Kendahl: oh yeah yeah yeah yeah oh that's a good i like that yeah
Julian Contreras Jr: so it's Yeah. so If you've seen both. those movies or if you've seen devil's advocate that's the kind of ending you're getting to and devil's advocate is probably one of those movies we should dive into
Kendahl: Oh, geez, yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Because it was. A 90s. sleeper c colt Hit.
Kendahl: Yeah. it's such a great movie
Julian Contreras Jr: Bye. It's It's amazing. Pacino did a great job.
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Keanu did a great job.
Kendahl: Oh yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: What's her name? What's her last name?
Kendahl: No, I gotta go look it up
Julian Contreras Jr: Oh my goodness.
Kendahl: But I think the best thing about that movie is that movie is one of those, you after you finish watching it, you're like, oh. It makes you think. Like, did I... Did I pay attention to everything? Was I listening to everything?
Kendahl: Cherie, stay around.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, thank you
Kendahl: So.
Julian Contreras Jr: I knew you were gonna leave me on a cliff there
Kendahl: Yeah. no so but i mean yeah it's it but it's it the movie 100 knows what it is i mean there's no question about it at one point it just gets so off the rails weird and you're just like Yeah. Okay, let's go this way.
Kendahl: Let's do this.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay. uh correct me if i'm wrong but that one is streaming hulu Correct?
Kendahl: Mmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: Double check that one.
Kendahl: Let's double check.
Julian Contreras Jr: Uh,
Kendahl: Let's double check. i I don't know that it's streaming anywhere free yet
Julian Contreras Jr: Uh...
Julian Contreras Jr: Think it is because that's how I watched it
Kendahl: Oh, yes, yes, yes, it is Hulu. Yeah, yep.
Julian Contreras Jr: Okay, perfect. Good. I got that one right. Yep. Check that one out at Hulu. I want to quickly touch base on two shows that my wife and I've been watching. Let's go three shows. Cause house of the dragon season three just ended.
Kendahl: Oh yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: Sunday. uh absolutely amazing don't know what's gonna happen in four
Kendahl: Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: If you like Game of Thrones or liked Game of Thrones before the end, It's that exact same way. Or... i don't know i like it a lot A lot of the characters do you get mad at, you follow them. Sometimes you switch sides. You're like, I'm just rooting for the bad guy. But then.
Julian Contreras Jr: You think about it, you're like, I don't even know who the bad guy really is anymore.
Kendahl: Yeah, okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: it's they're all wrong and they're all right it's Crazy.
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: Another one that's on Apple TV. Lucky. with Anya Taylor Joy. Absolutely love in that series.
Kendahl: let me see that one right
Julian Contreras Jr: it's basically chase scene after chase scene after chase scene not necessarily in cars sometimes it's running other stuff. It's really good. And I believe that one.
Kendahl: Oh, I think I was thinking of the... I was like... Lucky. I was thinking of the I was thinking of the the cartoon TV series. I was like.
Kendahl: What?
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, no This is definitely not.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, so...
Kendahl: Anya Taylor Joy.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah, I said that.
Kendahl: Yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah.
Julian Contreras Jr: You okay? all right that's one and then i want to talk about another one that we just started over the weekend It was on Hulu when we were watching something else. But. Emmy Rossum.
Julian Contreras Jr: If you like her...
Kendahl: Oh yeah, she's good.
Julian Contreras Jr: acting style at all. She was obviously in.
Julian Contreras Jr: What is the name of that show?
Kendahl: Seamus?
Julian Contreras Jr: I'm a f freaking idiot. Thank you. Thank you, shameless. She was in that for all the good seasons. She was in. Phantom of the Opera did a fantastic job in that.
Kendahl: Yep day after tomorrow ja chi with Jake Joan Hall.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yeah.
Kendahl: Yep.
Julian Contreras Jr: If this show is on Hulu, it's called Furious. She plays an FBI agent.
Kendahl: Oh! yeah Okay, so this keeps popping up for me to watch. I'm curious to... Here your take.
Julian Contreras Jr: yeah give it a go it is really good it's not your typical like serial killer whodunit type it's following it tells you exactly who the killer is And while she...
Julian Contreras Jr: is doing it.
Kendahl: Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: It's not your typical serial killer where they're chasing a bad guy.
Kendahl: Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: it's There's a reason why she's killing people. and We just don't know what it is yet.
Kendahl: Hmm. Okay.
Julian Contreras Jr: It preludes to it a little bit. but it's really good. Great acting in this one.
Kendahl: Okay. i'm gonna have to take that i'm gonna take a look at that one
Julian Contreras Jr: And that's... I'm all out of shows. But I do. While you were gone, I was supposed to do an episode with Cass. Her schedule and my schedule completely...
Julian Contreras Jr: Do not work anymore.
Julian Contreras Jr: She's got a new job.
Kendahl: Mm hmm.
Julian Contreras Jr: She's doing this But I do want to touch off and thank her for this huge gift. I've i've sent it to you so you could see it.
Kendahl: Yeah. I saw it.
Julian Contreras Jr: I told you not to post it anywhere and I can't post it anywhere. I promised her I wouldn't. But she was on a movie set. And if you all remember, she was on an episode. beforehand.

Kendahl: Yeah. Yep.
Julian Contreras Jr: What? We can watch some together. Whatever you want to do. Do you have any wise words for us before we get out of here?
Kendahl: Hey, my wise words are Don't judge a book by its cover. You can take that for a person, you can take that for a book, or you can take it for... the videos and the shows we talk about because Honestly, there's a lot of really great stuff out there.
Kendahl: that If you judge it by the cover... I think you miss out on a lot of the fun.
Julian Contreras Jr: I agree.
Kendahl: And. To be honest with you, that's the main reason why I have missed out on some of these things in the past. And now... I like good luck. Have fun. Don't die. I'll tell you the truth I thought that looked like a stupid movie.
Kendahl: And then because I'm stuck in a plane for seven hours, I watched something that was actually very entertaining.
Julian Contreras Jr: Yep. Alright. Way to go. And until next time. Check your marshmallows.
Kendahl: And don't forget. Turn on. Something good.
