A big lie will spill out of your evil head there. You know a guy will come up and go, hey, you ever see that movie with Meryl Streep and the horse? And then you go.
Speaker: Yes! man va gra What the hell am I lying about over here? I stand to gain nothing by this lie. i Roll the dice and take your chances. You know something, Marge? It's not that tough being a film cricket.

Speaker: and run through a dungeon for their entertainment. But luckily, I don't have to do this. myself. I'm able to bring in ah my friends to do this along with me.

Speaker: To every everyone else who is new here, so am I. This is my second second. day ever playing and Uh... Art. Jenner's Dungeon Master here just helped me understand a little bit more about what I'm doing. So I am.
Speaker: hey fairy bard that is based off of the characters of some of my favorite books and movies um i like to prance around and play my tuba. and cast spells of confusion and...
Speaker: Overall mischievery. And. Yes. And really channeling my favorite characters. like um Tracy Lord from... from the Philadelphia story. and Meg from...
Speaker: A Wrinkle in Time and and all those others that... the women, the angry women of media who just want to screw up everyone's evil plans.
Speaker: That's great. I'm I'm so excited. i I just love your character so much. So. I'm so excited and I'm so glad that you are here.
Speaker: ah to talk about our movie this week. The Gold Rush, the Charlie Chaplin film. ah The dice determined we would. Pick from the AFI Top 100.
Speaker: That's a movie I hadn't seen on the AFA Top 100. Um, Brooke in. previous iterations you and I spent a lot of time watching ah Hitchcock's ah old movies and His.
Speaker: silent era. So I'm really excited to have you here. to talk about the gold rush as it is. Of a similar time. and Yeah. i i I love.
Speaker: I love the silent film era. I mean, not everything. There's a lot of garbage out there, but... You know, the the big, big ones. they're They're fun. I had a good time. with this one I did too.
Speaker: I really enjoyed it. Like, I was very happy as well that I was here for this one. as a throwback, like a little nod to our Hitchcock films, which It just made me want to go back and finish that. There's a theater downtown in Salt Lake, well, not downtown, um in the Murray area.
Speaker: that is showing Hitchcock. movies in the theater right now like on state street and i yeah i want to go see what they're what The deal is I just saw like a little billboard as I was driving by. But, um...
Speaker: Yeah, it made me happy. I like these. I like the silent films. I like, it's like reading a movie. Because you're... You're filling so much in with your own mind.
Speaker: And it allows like. Even though you're watching, even though you're experiencing what is on the screen. It's also like determined by you.
Speaker: what it brings up, like, really, like... And a more. I don't know, a more exacting way, it's like... This is all based on... how I relate to this movie, not necessarily dialogue, not necessarily like. Directive given.
Speaker: to your mind. But it's... you watching and interpreting it and finding the humor and the little things that really stand out to you. And I i loved it. I had a really good time with it. Yeah, it's like...
Speaker: It's like the difference between, you know, watching an opera and watching a Panama. It's like they can both be very engaging. and They're just... but they're just operating in two very different mediums. Chaplin here, very obviously you'd like.
Speaker: the master of this medium there's a reason why we think of him as as kind of a the king of the silent film era. And this movie is a big reason why.
Speaker: ah and and Most certainly amongst his. Best remembered films. Uh... Do you? Do you go super deep on Chaplin? Not everybody obviously does, but... I don't. This was my first experience of Chaplin in like a movie, like sitting down and watching the whole thing.
Speaker: Yeah. And there were parts of it that I knew and was like quite familiar with, like the scene. When Johnny Depp like impersonates. him in yeah june and like some of these things and clips that i've seen Throughout my whole life of. Chaplain Butt. Yeah, i was it was really lovely to just sit and watch the movie.
Speaker: Yeah. I have a real soft spot in my heart for modern times. I feel like. That's my favorite chaplain. And so if I... If I ever seem down on this movie at all, it's not because I think this is a bad movie. It's just like.
Speaker: I'm like. If I want to sit down and watch a chaplain, I'm going to watch. modern times or city lights rather than this, but... Um. But this is still really good. And like you said, there's...
Speaker: So much of this that just exists out there in. the the sort of cultural osmosis of everything. ah So, yeah, it's great. Yeah, we watched it. Then we watched some of the Three Stooges and some I Love Lucy. And like you can see these continual.
Speaker: themes and these threads of like
Speaker: situational humor and um, The way that comedy sort of took place, like it's... It's over 100 years old, but it's so... Relevant.
Speaker: In this very strange way. And Pablo and I watched it together. His mom loves Chaplin. He said, especially the kid, which I. obviously haven't seen. yeah But... It was fun.
Speaker: for each of us to watch it. and and have the things that stood out to us and really cracked us up. so Yeah. this movie is so full of bits It's like.
Speaker: it really feels like They sat down and they're like, oh, okay. What is the setting? The Gold Rush. Okay. What are a bunch of like funny things we could.
Speaker: have happened. in this and they just like plan out all these bits and it's just it's very um What? What's the term?
Speaker: I don't know, like each little scene is its own little vignette. And. Yeah, there's a through plot line. But it's as much about everything is in service to.
Speaker: the premise of each individual bit. Like. the The thing with the snow shoveling. Like. Mm hmm. I love that. This is very silly. It was so funny. Yeah.
Speaker: And... you know. But... That's... That's... I just love that. or The. The thing where Big Jim is hallucinating he's a chicken. ah That. Charlie Chaplin's a chicken and cause they're so hungry.
Speaker: like there's just That part was so funny. They're just bits bits for days in this movie. and and and you mentioned the ah The dancing. bread roll things.
Speaker: That's obviously classic. like uber classic. and um You know, to the point that, again... Like, it's it's being... Aipton. other media.
Speaker: So. Yeah. This is absolutely amazing Okay, before we get into... Any more spoilers? We are going to pause and we are going to.
Speaker: then do the world's shortest. And most incomplete recap. of the movie. So, yay spoiler alert. Spoiler alert.
Speaker: Spoiler alert! Spoilers incoming. Skip if you do not want this plot spoiled. Here we go. During the Klondike Gold Rush, a hapless wanderer known as the Lone Prospector, Charlie Chaplin,
Speaker: gets caught in a massive blizzard while seeking his fortune. Seeking shelter, he stumbles into an isolated cabin. which is already occupied by a violent outlaw named Black Larson.
Speaker: played by Tom Murray. Soon after, a hulking miner named Big Jim McKay who was played by Max Wayne. is blown into the cabin just after discovering an enormous gold deposit.
Speaker: As the storm rages on, the starving men face desperate moments. where the prospector cooks and eats his own shoe. and a delirious Big Jim briefly hallucinates his scrawny companion as a giant chicken.
Speaker: Larson eventually leaves to find food. But he steals Big Jim's gold claim. only to then be killed by an avalanche of karma. When the storm finally breaks, Big Jim leaves the cabin.
Speaker: but gets struck on his head, losing his memory of where his mass claim is. Meanwhile, The lone prospector wanders into a booming mining town and instantly falls in love.
Speaker: with a beautiful dance hall girl named Georgia. Obviously named after the star, Georgia Hale. However, he faces cruel competition from Jack. played by Malcolm Waite, a ladies' man who aggressively pursues Georgia and relentlessly bullies the timid prospector.
Speaker: Jack constantly mocks the little wanderer and physically intimidates him. around the dance hall to assert his dominance. In a spiteful attempt to make Jack jealous, Georgia briefly dances with the prospector. prompting the smitten tramp to invite her and her friends to a New Year's Eve dinner.
Speaker: They forget and stand him up, but Georgia later softens towards him. and rejects Jack after realizing the prospector's genuine sadness. Their budding romance is interrupted though when Big Jim suddenly reappears in town. Having regained parts of his memory, Jim drags the prospector back into the wilderness.
Speaker: Help him locate the original cabin. They find it. But a fierce overnight blizzard blows the structure halfway off of the sheer cliff, After a harrowing escape from the teetering building,
Speaker: The two men successfully locate Jim's claim and become multimillionaires. Sometime later, the now wealthy men are traveling home. on a luxury steamship. When the prospector briefly dons his old rags for a photograph,
Speaker: A mishap sends him tumbling into the steerage decks, where he joyfully reunites with Georgia. leading to a happily ever after ending as they sail away. way together. Did I miss anything, Brooke? Is that more or less it?
Speaker: That's it. Yeah, I think you got everything. Okay. Alright. So. That's the movie. everything that's in there that is iconic. like I remember as a kid.
Speaker: We had a textbook. that was teaching us the meaning of the word inedible. And there was a picture of Charlie Chaplin. like trying to eat his shoe. Like... There's just bits in here that are...
Speaker: Like I said. Just... ah You probably haven't seen this movie, but... You've... You've seen parts of the scene the movie. I was. I was really...
Speaker: Blown away. by how strong and visceral of reactions I had. to certain parts of this movie like the eating of the shoe like that part I was like literally dry heaving and I know that it's a bit and I just oh it But it was so well done and it was so funny.
Speaker: um That I couldn't help myself. I was just like... Yeah. I mean, it's it's so gross. And then and then he's like got the big like burlap sack on his foot for the rest of the movie, which is the rest of the movie. There's so many on fire. and its it's the Ugh. I'm...
Speaker: I'm just amazed as I watch that. I'm like. Man, how did they... Do that. Because that's obviously not a shoe. There were several parts that I was like, how are they? doing this?
Speaker: yeah you know there's no CIG you know there's no like special effects were I think even the like The intricacy of the sets that they were on. Like when he was sliding down the snow with the rocks.
Speaker: around him like down the mountain i was like what fucking mountain are sorry what freaking mountain are they on because no you can swear I don't find i didn't know if we were swearing on this one. We're swearing on this podcast. though Yeah.
Speaker: All good. Um... But yeah, I like I was watching it. They're all climbing up this big, long mountain. And I was like, in my mind. They were literally in Alaska on the Klondike. like I don't know where they were, but...
Speaker: I was blown away. Bye. The simplicity and the intricacy of their sets end. yeah The effectiveness of what they did.
Speaker: From the opening scene where there's this big long line going up. the mountain from the the port of call where everybody's... landing and then they have to climb up the mountain to go Up into the...
Speaker: up into the Yukon Mountains. And... I'm just like, how did they do that? like I understand how they can get... 50 people. lined up.
Speaker: in the foreground But. How are they? making it so that it looks like that line continues and is going up the mountain. Right. The. the shot where they're actually like up in the mountains and people are climbing through the snow and digging through it and Um.
Speaker: when when the the cabin is teetering off the cliff and like, Charlie Chaplin goes out one door and it looks like he's about to fall out. And there's just a guy, and that's...
Speaker: That's... Probably like a puppet. or something. But it's so well done. That it's like. I would rather watch this.
Speaker: Then like. Any. AI slop generated. video. asking it to do the same. like We could go ask Sora right now.
Speaker: like recreate the scene from the gold rush. and have Charlie Chaplin hanging out there. Do that. it would It would come out. It would probably look okay, actually.
Speaker: But there's just a beauty and a simplicity to this. And it was so... quick. And it was so. Funny. Yeah. The little puppet guy just like flinging around and then coming right back in. Like, it was so funny.
Speaker: Yeah, he obviously understands comedy and understands... Again, all of this is in service to. to those bits. and Yeah. i'm just I'm just so impressed.
Speaker: i I was. I was blown away. i It was like watching the invention of comedy. Mhm. Kinda. Yeah. Yeah. In terms...
Speaker: This. This is so obviously like an indelible piece of history. Like this is the thing that set the mold. For. everything that's going to follow for the next 50 years. And it's still in the DNA.
Speaker: now a hundred years later. bike. we just We owe so much to... uh to all of this even though you know, everything was so different. The other thing that I found so remarkable was how much Heart. was in this.
Speaker: Like. How much I just. felt hat about this entire situation i'm like they're just picking on this poor guy the whole movie End.
Speaker: They're so mean to him and he just. He just takes it. It brought me to tears. The thing, the New Year's scene where he's just like staring out the door.
Speaker: And he keeps, like, re -preparing everything. That was one of those visceral reactions that I had that I was like, oh, my God, I. feel that so deep in my body and I did not expect to have These feelings.
Speaker: I also didn't expect it to be an hour and 15 minutes long. like there is There was so much of this that I looked back on and I was like... I watched the trailer. I watched the movie, like the sound and the.
Speaker: the voice overlay and like, I was just like, this is like watching. The invention of... Theater. of the movie theater like and it really was but like so many things have not changed like we're still using the same basic format of like how do we create how do we promote how do we like what are the bits that we use within a movie how do we bring those bits back within a movie like that it was It was really...
Speaker: romantic in my mind like this little like Every time we do a movie trailer now, like I i was actually thinking of. um The holiday. which is one of the few movies that I like Jack Black in, but when he's like talking about the music and the format of creating these movie trailers and these different things, it was like it was it was like this.
Speaker: kind of romantic nod to The creation of this art form that we get so much out of and how much of it. is still... Like a direct. respectful throwback to to these early movies. It was lovely.
Speaker: Yeah. I love that movie too. And the like, the like. Not. Quite. Romance with with the with the old guy who is they want to give the award to and Wait, that that's in the holiday, right? I'm not imagining that for another movie. That is in the holiday.
Speaker: That's the holiday. Yeah. yeah Yeah, okay. I just... I love that. is it there's There's so much there back in film history. And that's one of the reasons I really wanted to do this podcast is because.
Speaker: Again like. I have blind spots I haven't seen everything. And I love going back and being able to. pick up things like this and know that I'm going back and and like paying respect to the the shoulders of giants that We all. that we all stand on.
Speaker: Yeah. It's so wonderful. Anything else you wanted to say about? about this before we... Jump into our D and &D session. If you haven't seen it, you should watch it. Like there's so much.
Speaker: You should. There's so much of modern culture. There's so many throwbacks. there There is this very beautiful romanticizing of it that like. Go and watch it and and let your mind recognize the things from it that have. created who you are and and the way that comedy resonates in your body i don't I don't think it.
Speaker: Would be. possible to not have any of it resonate with you in this sort of like knowing of who you are and what you find is humorous. I like, I just, I really loved it. I really enjoyed it.
Speaker: Yeah. And the great thing is, is this is. everywhere because It. The. The original version is... as I understand it, in the public domain.
Speaker: And so it's available to stream almost anywhere. ah There are... Like there's a specific. criterion collection restoration That was done. Uh,
Speaker: couple decades back. that I is. probably proprietary to someone. that is really great and a great version. But, um, Bit. You can watch this almost anywhere.
Speaker: And it will be a ah good experience. Ciao. Yeah. Completely agree. Go watch this. Alright, let's... transition into our D and &D game.
Speaker: So on this day... Brooke, we find ourselves, me. My name is Jeff. Jeff Virtues, are our paladin warlock. And you.
Speaker: Tiny Fairy. Tracy. Magmar Lord. And... We're essentially in a waiting room. outside the arena. as we're being led in there.
Speaker: As we're about to go in. Out of the corner pops. Aye. incredibly scary visage a A tall... Decrepits.
Speaker: evil looking lich. wearing an old Kentucky Colonel's uniform. The smell of... of sulfur and and brimstone coming off of his decrepit skeletal body.
Speaker: This. is Joseph Guncotton. Who? is part of the reason why we are here. I turn to him and I say, Uh, hello, Mr. Guncotton, uh...
Speaker: We were not expecting a visit from you. This is... This is my friend, Tracy. Or some tea, madam. And he... takes your hand and Trusted.
Speaker: Kiss the back of it. like he's being A real gentleman. Yeah. Feel free to react if you want to. I'm trying not to. ah Yeah. Yeah, he is. He is chill to the touch. Not as gross as you would think. He he's obviously doing something to try to make himself like smell good or whatever. He's he's undead. He's gross.
Speaker: To what do we owe the honor? Well... I just wanted to. Thank you for... Ow. Recharging my batteries as it were with your...
Speaker: No film watches it. brings an energy back to my soul. this film especially. You know that...
Speaker: My old friend, D .W. Griffiths. and Mr. Chaplin were in business together with one another. They found it. United Artists Studios that made The Gold Rush.
Speaker: ah Yes, I... was aware of that. Did not necessarily want to bring that up, but since you did. Yeah, well... It was a... ah Great film. Um,
Speaker: We're happy we watched that. Yes, I could tell. you enjoyed it. Well, thank you. I am going to... Gone. Sit in the audience and... Enjoy.
Speaker: Your performance today. Thank you. Mr. Virtues, and thank you. Thank you especially, Miss Lord. No.
Speaker: Surely an honor. Um... He opens the door. Into. the arena. And we walk in and and very similar to.
Speaker: ah When we walked in, we found ourselves in the streets of... Mexico City. ah for Amores Peros. Um. we We find ourselves in a snow -covered tundra.
Speaker: ah in in the middle of nowhere. But the audience is still there. We we hear. We hear and see them sort of outside the boundaries of this.
Speaker: ah this area where we're doing our performance. And. ah The announcer, Mr. Stanley Kubrick, the gelatinous cube.
Speaker: announces us. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Fiends of all ages and genders. We welcome you.
Speaker: As we welcome. Mr. Jeff Virtues and Miss Tracy Meg Lord. As. Today they take on... The Gold Rush Yes, let's give it up for them. Cheers, applause.
Speaker: But... Can you believe this fucking guy? who thought he was some sort of film expert, and he hasn't even seen The Gold Rush.
Speaker: And the crowd boos. Boo. You suck. I'm like... and wave up to everyone. I'm like, okay, thanks everybody. But let's get ready for adventure today. I believe this is. one of our most deadly encounters we've created yet.
Speaker: So... Here we are. Um, We are in the snow. In the middle. of nowhere. And... Um,
Speaker: We are. I guess, recreating the early part of the movie where Charlie Chaplin is just wandering around. um any Anything you want to do, anything we... we Well, okay, quickly, let's...
Speaker: um we can we can change very quickly into some... Warm clothes. that we put on over everything so that we're not. We're not expecting... Freezing.
Speaker: Yeah. Not freezing in all of this. So we're able to do that. But, uh... Yeah, we're we're wandering along a Lonely Mountainside Anything you want to do, anything you want to look for.
Speaker: I want to look for shelter because I am just a wee little fairy that's for freezing up here. Yeah. Let's roll. An investigation check, or...
Speaker: I guess we could also do either nature. or perception. ah to try to try to find our way.
Speaker: what What do you want to roll? And then I'll decide what I want to roll. Mmm. You said we can roll. I'm going to do perception. Okay. You roll perception.
Speaker: I'm gonna try to do an investigation. to see if we can find anything specific. tracks or something. Ooh.
Speaker: Okay, and then I do that how? I'm so sorry. Oh no, yeah, look down on your skills. On your... D and &D Beyond character sheet. and about...
Speaker: Two -thirds of the way down, you should see perception. Oh I see. The... Wisdom perception. Yeah, and so click on the little plus five and it'll roll a 20 -sided die for us.
Speaker: ah dad I can't see well in the snow. You rolled a two, but you have a plus five, so... Yeah, we're we're saved from not being taught. Totally lost.
Speaker: by the fact that you have a plus five. Okay, so I'm going to do investigation. I also rolled. portly. I rolled a five. And I have a plus one to my investigation.
Speaker: So that's a six. So I did even worse. I do not. Find. Shit. and yeah Yeah, I'm gonna roll just a d6 to see if something random happens to us.
Speaker: three or below, it does not. four or above, it does. Okay. ah That is a one. Oh, no. This blizzard is killing us.
Speaker: Yeah. ah So. That's... bad. So what? I'm going to have us do is. We're both going to take something called a level of exhaustion.
Speaker: For those who are new to D and &D, as I know Brooke is, There is the exhausted. Status condition. And if you get to six levels of exhaustion, you are dead.
Speaker: But... for each level of exhaustion. It is going to take away. our skills at making ability checks. and and our movement.
Speaker: So we're, we're for every level of exhaustion, we, we lose five feet of movement. And. ah two times the level of exhaustion to any of our skill checks.
Speaker: So this can get. compoundy very quickly. Oh no. This is. This is not great. Okay. Um... We're going to Roll again.
Speaker: ah I am going to roll for perception this time. because I have advantage on my perception check, so I get to roll twice. and take the higher one ah My first one is a 19, so that's going to be a 21. That's going to be pretty good. Let's see if I can get a nat 20. Second is a 17, so that's a 19.
Speaker: Brooke, do you want to? Do you want to roll? ah Either investigation or nature or perception. I want to roll. I mean, I want i want to do...
Speaker: Nature. Okay? I think. you're good at nature Come on. Yay. 16 plus 4 is 20. That is a what we call a dirty 20 in the game. Now, we both have to take two off of ours. So I go down to a 19. You go down to an 18.
Speaker: But still, that's good enough. we are able to perceive. In the far distance. uh, a lone cabin. And we start. um making our way there.
Speaker: ah Once again, I'm going to roll the d6. to see if... this random thing happens. I once again roll a one. Well, actually, in this case, that's good because we said one to three is it didn't happen.
Speaker: What was going to happen if we. If we got a four through six was ah the bear was going to show up. And then we're going to decide whether the bear would. whether we could sneak past the bear her time.
Speaker: ah But no bear. No bear. By the way, that bear scene... Like. I knew I was in love with this movie as soon as that that bear show i'm like oh my god there's a bear This rules.
Speaker: Okay, okay. Back to... ah Back to D and &D. Let's... do a I don't know, let's call it a constitution check to see.
Speaker: if we can make it through the snow and the blizzard. Uh, to this. Um. to this cabin without any other instance. incident. Okay.
Speaker: Oh, no! Oh. Okay, I rolled a six, which is now a four. that's bad That's not good. What did you roll?
Speaker: where How do I... Oh, that's the up in the top box, right? Next to the CON? Yes. And I press on my plus three, right? Yes.
Speaker: Okay, I hadn't rolled yet. Hmm. 11? 14? Minus two. So, you yes, you rolled 11. Your con is plus three.
Speaker: Minus 2. 12. You are fine. I am going to take another level of exhaustion while we get there. But the good news is we make it. Two. the We make it to the cabin.
Speaker: And, ah Brooke, if you want to open up the map. I sent you. um You can see our little cabin. Yes. Uh, Place yourself wherever you like. within the cabin.
Speaker: I think I want... Okay, hooop boop boop boop. So we can see, so we open up into the cabin from. From the Gold Rush. And in here. ah We find. Big Jim.
Speaker: who's up on the big bed. And. ah Our friend Charlie Chaplin, the tramp, the prospector. who's down on ah the other... Little bed table.
Speaker: what have you. ah Also here is Georgia. for some reason. Even though she was never in here. How'd you get there, Georgia? How'd you get here, Georgia? I don't know. movie magic. A wizard did it. A wizard did it.
Speaker: Sure wasn't. we're We're welcomed in. They have us sit down by the fire. We're able to warm up. ah And we can.
Speaker: In movie time. ah we're going to go to sleep. and try to get rid of ah one of these levels of exhaustion. So... We were able to do that. And.
Speaker: We both take off one of our levels of exhaustion. So now you are okay. I am still dealing with one level of exhaustion. The problem is...
Speaker: During the night, we have... ended up blown away by the blizzard. And we're now... over top. this. this cliff. And out of nowhere, who should appear? But...
Speaker: Jack the Ladies Man. No, Jack. And the ghost of Black Larson. Those are black horses. And they're both here and they want revenge. This cabin we have stolen. Oh, no. Yeah.
Speaker: So ah they're they're both big mad at us. and ah So here here's the situation that we're going to be in. We are going to be in combat.
Speaker: with Black Larson. and Jack the Ladies Man. Big Jim and Georgia. and the prospector, Charlie Chaplin. They are non -player characters. They're not going to do anything.
Speaker: in this fight but we can order them to move around. in this configuration that we are in. Right now. ah We are.
Speaker: balanced. We're not. ah We have as much weight on one side of the cabin. as we do on the left -hand side. You, me, and... and Charlie Chaplin.
Speaker: are on the left -hand side of the cabin. Big Jim. Jack and Georgia. are on the right -hand side. and we're okay. ah Black Larson doesn't weigh anything. Could he a ghost?
Speaker: So yes um he's going to move around and he's not going to affect the mass. but if If we get off balance too much, ah the cabin could topple. and we could all die. that is the That is the situation we're in. And we're going to roll for initiative.
Speaker: and start this fight. So if you will. Click my plus three by the INT. Crap. and I am going to... ah Oh, no, sorry. ah that That was an intelligence. um Oh.
Speaker: So, uh, there's There's another one that says initiative. But. hang Hang on one second. Let me... There's that. thingy. here on the map That I'm gonna try to do. Oh, I see. I had it automatically roll initiative for us.
Speaker: And ah your. here's Here's how the initiative... Order rolled out. The tramp got 14. You got 13? I got 13. You have higher dexterity than me, so you'll go first.
Speaker: Okay. Oh, I have Colonel Joseph Gunn Cotton. I'm going to remove him because we did not. do anything to piss him off so he's not going to be in. combat with us today. Then we have Big Jim. Then we have Georgia.
Speaker: Then we have Black Larson. And wow, Black Larson and... Jack the ladies man. both rolled zero on their initiative so they would have had to roll like ones or twos And then like.
Speaker: Had it. get minus so ah They suck. I'm glad the bad guys go last. So we get to go first. That's wonderful. You go ahead and do.
Speaker: whatever you would like first. Okay. So we're trying to get... Out of... The cabin, right? That's our goal. to get out of the cabin? oh Well, we've got to, in order to do, they're going to block the entrances or and and exits.
Speaker: ah to prevent us from leaving until we do something. But that's our ultimate goal. Is to get out of the cabin and send them toppling over. Right. OK. Yes. So with that being.
Speaker: my ultimate goal. I think. What I want to do is I want... Two. Use my thunderclap.
Speaker: To blast open the... door with a loud blaring tuba to Break down their... ceiling up. us off and into the cabin. Okay. So how do I do that? Here, I'm going to, I'm going to. Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to move them.
Speaker: I mentioned that they're... Each one is out. is at one door. So if you want to move and... i I would like to actually I think what I want to do is send my thunderclap blasting towards Jack the ladies man. Okay.
Speaker: Great. And try to blast him out the door. Okay, now are you doing Thunderclap or Thunderwave? Oh, Thunderwave. Thunder wave. Okay, good. please i forgot i took both yeah Okay, so do I have to roll for this? How do I?
Speaker: ah Oh, you know what? ah No, but he does. And he has to make a... Level 14. or a 14 or above constitution save.
Speaker: Uh, two. To avoid my thunder wave. Yeah. So. Let's see. You know, ladies, man. He rolled a seven.
Speaker: and he has a plus one, so... That is an 8. He. fail. fails Brooke, will you read? ah When you, when you. Click on Thunderwave. Will you?
Speaker: Describe what? your spell does yes so i cast the thunder wave where i unleash a wave of thunderous energy each creature in a 15 foot cube originating from you originating from you. makes a constitution saving throw on a failed save a creature takes
Speaker: a 2d8 thunder damage and is pushed 10 feet away from you on a successful save a creature blah blah blah in addition unsecured objects that are entirely within the cube are pushed 10 feet away from you and a thunderous boom is audible within 300 feet Okay.
Speaker: Pom, pom, pom. So... describe how you'd like to flavor this. You are. Doing this from your tuba. Are you playing?
Speaker: anything specifically As you. Push him with this thunder wave. Any piece of music that you want to. push him with. Um... Yes, I just don't remember the name of it. What's the one?
Speaker: You can cut this up. The King of the Mountains one that it's like, bomfo bom, bom, bom. huge Oh, okay. In the Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg? Yes.
Speaker: Yes. Awesome. Okay. All right. So I... Ready myself. tuba at the at the mouth and I start playing in the hall of the Mountain King.
Speaker: And I blast as loud as I can against. Jack, the supposed ladies' man. To it. He succumbs. yeah So... ah Bye.
Speaker: I can. I would normally have you roll damage to see how much you hurt him Um. But since he is standing right in front of the door.
Speaker: that leads out over the cliff. And he failed his constitution saving throw, meaning he's going to... ah get pushed 10 feet. He just gets pushed out the door and he falls over the cliff. and And he's dead. And there's no coming back for him because he is not the tramp.
Speaker: Yeah. Now. Um, Now, remember, the Thunder Wave also said it will hit unsecured items. And as we remember from the movie.
Speaker: ah That side of the cabin. has a bunch of icicles. that are coming down from the ceiling. I want you to make a dexterity saving throw.
Speaker: to see if you can dodge out of the way. of these ah of these icicles that you've now dislodged with your tuba. and make sure none of them hit you.
Speaker: Okay. Um, Now you are. pushing them So... and And you are positioned. more closer to the middle of the room.
Speaker: So even with a. dexterity save of four. You're going to be mostly okay. But I got a nine because of my plus five. Oh, a nine. Oh, with a nine, you get, that's even better. The um the save. on this was going to be 11 or above.
Speaker: um So you. Almost made it. Um, But roll. 2D6 ah because you are going to get hit with a couple. of Where's that? I see. Or, well, I guess I... I can roll.
Speaker: um Well, no, I want to know where it is, though. Where do I? Oh, okay. Down in the bottom left -hand corner, you'll see a thing that a little red circle with a 20 -sided die in it. Oh, that's it. Okay, so I roll the two.
Speaker: or d6 i wrote two of them you'll hit the d6 and yeah press the plus button twice And that'll roll two of them. Okay.
Speaker: So you take. You take seven. ah hit points of damage. of from getting hit by those icicles. so Ew. Okay. okay Um...
Speaker: That is your action. Uh, Would you like to... do anything with a bonus action. Now one but thing... I... I forgot to mention. Last time.
Speaker: As a bard. you have a really cool power called bardic inspiration where you are able to inspire people with... your music, your words, etc.
Speaker: And you can hand that out to people. so that they can get. extra dice to roll. On there. on their turn. So you can.
Speaker: give out bardic inspiration to someone. Or... ah you can do something else with your bonus action. But I just wanted to make sure. I remember. ah telling you So...
Speaker: With my bonus action... I would like to... I would like to misty step. Over to the other side of the cabin. You you can do that?
Speaker: You don't need to though. You still have enough movement. that you could move to the other side of the cabin without needing to misty step. Okay. Oh, and you couldn't do that anyway because you can't do two spells in one. Oh. in the ORD. And Thunderwood is a star. Okay, I know nothing. Okay, so... For my bonus action.
Speaker: I'm not just looking at what has a BA next to it on my spell list. correct that is um i get to click on the one that actually says bonus action okay bardic inspiration box office boy the one are you sorry everyone um No, that's okay. Box office poison is a special.
Speaker: thing that you have. I don't want to do that right now. Yeah. Okay, so how do you fight a ghost? um I mean, they're they're resistant to... some types of things. but They're not resistant to everything.
Speaker: In fact, You know, you. You're a fairy, so you would understand this very well. The fact that you have a silver. Blade.
Speaker: is... not lost on you. And you know, That. Undead. are often hurt by ah by silver blades.
Speaker: So not maybe not every. Sword. Could hurt a ghost. but you're pretty sure that you're... your rapier. So can I use my... Not as a bonus action. Not as a bonus action. Next turn, though, maybe. All right, then I want to use... My... bardic inspiration and pass it off to you.
Speaker: Okay. Good, sir. i will take I will take that bardic inspiration. and And are you going to end your turn? Right where you are, do you want to move yourself? someplace I would like to move closer to.
Speaker: The Tramp. Okay. So that he doesn't get into any mischief. Okay. Great. ah With that, your turn ends. Uh, The.
Speaker: The cabin tilts. slightly to the left. but not to any point of danger. but we do have more people. now on the on the left than the right hand it is now my turn i'm gonna tell the tramp run to georgia And so he's gonna go and he's gonna sit by Georgia.
Speaker: on the right -hand side of the room. I'm going to tell Big Jim to get in the middle. So he gets up out of bed and he's going to. Stand right. here So he's exactly in the center.
Speaker: And now... The cabin evens out. We have two people on the right -hand side. We have you and me and the ghost on the left -hand side and Big Jim's in the middle. so Don't we? um all want to be on the left -hand side?
Speaker: We do eventually, yes. Oh, okay. Sorry. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah oh This this will be fun to figure out how we. how we do this. ah But then I'm going to cross over here.
Speaker: ah And I am going to... i thought I was going to cast Armor of Agathys. Because I thought we'd be in longer combat here, but I don't think I want to do that this time.
Speaker: I think... Ins... Dead. I'm just going to take a... I'm just going to pull out my, my Halbert. And I'm just going to attack him.
Speaker: So. Oof. I rolled a three. So even though my halberd. It's plus eight. I miss. So I completely whiffed that. I don't think even with your bardic inspiration, I'd be able to get up.
Speaker: high enough. Okay, so let's see. What can I do with my bonus action? Screw it. I'm just going to cast Armor of Agathys anyway with my on my with my bonus action on top of my regular armor and my warm. Clothing.
Speaker: ah A ah shining. magical aura. Of frost. surrounds me. And I now have this warlock -infused armor.
Speaker: on top of me that anyone who attacks me will attack them back But I'm going to stay here and that's going to be my turn. Next up, ah we have...
Speaker: Big Jim, Georgia, and and the tramp, but they're all going to stay where they are. It is going to be Black Larson's turn. I am closer to him, and I just tried to poke him.
Speaker: with my halberd so he is going to Attack me. He is going to make two withering touch attacks. That first one misses. The second one misses. He rolled very low. on both of those. so I did not.
Speaker: Get. I did not get hurt. Okay. We're just going to call that his turn because I don't think he has any other. Anything else? on this turn okay Back to the top of the round.
Speaker: ah It is your turn again, Brooke. Okay. I would like... Two. Since I am... very close to Our ghostly friend, Black Larson.
Speaker: I would like to attack him with my silver nitrate rapier of tragic combat. Great. And... Roll Tatum. Let's see I'm going to...
Speaker: To flash him with my silver. So. So I... What do I roll here? Oh, yeah. each Press the um the plus six. Next to it. you're Yeah.
Speaker: All right. ah ha Wow. Uh... Yeah, that's a 24. That definitely hits him.
Speaker: He's ghost, so he's not super armored. ah Hit the damage. button right there. We'll do 1d8 plus 4. Aw.
Speaker: Okay. So. That is. Six. Hit points. that he loses. Anything you want to do.
Speaker: Well, sucks for him. Good job by you. Okay, so now that I've done that, I can do one of my bonus action spells since I attacked him, right? Correct. All right, watch out, mister. Let's see what I've got here. ah Would the healing word help you? i It wouldn't help me. I haven't been hit.
Speaker: um You're the only person who's taken damage. Oh no! but But you don't need to. I don't need it. You don't need it yet. Okay, so I want to stay right where I'm at. I don't feel like moving. I want to stay next to this.
Speaker: wispy Garbage man. And great I... Um. Can I use my box office poison? But. If you, oh yes, you can.
Speaker: Yes. Use your bot. totally forgot about that. one of Brooke's special abilities. or one of Tracy's special abilities is. She was labeled box office poison.
Speaker: And so anytime she makes a successful physical attack. ah She can use one of her bardic inspirations to... Add poison damage to... So do I do it? Dees. Doom. Row 1 of the D6.
Speaker: or do i click the button there Yes. Click the button. Okay. for war. So you're able to add four. poison damage.
Speaker: You definitely hit him with with that. silver blade and that definitely messed him up. Um, But. you perceive. As you did that.
Speaker: he is a ghost. and he might be immune to poison. Oh, no. So you're you're not sure whether that. Poison damage really messed him up.
Speaker: ah you can tell that the silver blades. Definitely did, though. So. Okay. Any other movement that you want to do? or No.
Speaker: Okay. Great. ah Then it's my turn. I am going to... you know screw it i'm gonna try to do I'm going to try to do the other Kind of like what you did.
Speaker: Instead of using my halberd, I'm going to fire. an eldritch blast at him ah which I definitely hit him. ah with a 24.
Speaker: And that's going to do 1d10. Plus. five. damage. So that does 10. And. um My Eldritch Blast.
Speaker: Pushes him. back. Bye. Bye. Feats. So he is... halfway out the door. Unfortunately, this is.
Speaker: regular land out here. But I i was able to. Push him back. So. Um... Not that that matters. But. Okay. ah He's, you know, for a ghost, he's looking like he got. a little bit messed up.
Speaker: between both of our attacks. So that's great. ah We're not having... Any of the... Any of the NPCs do anything? It is now Black Larson's turn.
Speaker: ah He is going to use... something called horrific visage So both of us need to make wisdom saving throws. over Third.
Speaker: um Okay. or else we're going to take some... psychic damage. Yeah. So we push the number next to our WIS, right? Correct.
Speaker: Or next to the intelligent. Wait, I'm confused. Yes. Uh... next to yeah next to the The wisdom. We need to do wisdom saving throws. Ooh, I only rolled a nine.
Speaker: so Um, What did I say? the Ten. I just said with the... Um, 13. So we both fail.
Speaker: So we're going to take. Uh... Psychic damage. ah We're both going to take eight points of psychic damage. And. we have the frightened condition.
Speaker: until the start of the ghosts. Next. Turn. Um, So. Um... So essentially, so being frightened We cannot move. Towards.
Speaker: the person that we're scared of. Uh, and um We are. for at least this turn i think we're all so ah And we have disadvantage on ability checks and attack rolls.
Speaker: ah while ah He is in our line of sight. So. This is going to make this more difficult. We are now going to have to. Amen. ah we're going to have to roll with disadvantage.
Speaker: Um, Okay. So that's that's bad. Um, Bye. Maybe we can. recover from that. it is It is now back to the top. It is your turn.
Speaker: um So you can't move towards him now. So you're going to have to use something that can hit him from far away. Okay, so I'm thinking...
Speaker: Of doing. What kills a ghost? Can I do a chromatic orb? Ooh, yes, you can do a chromatic order. Is that a good one? Yes.
Speaker: That is not very good. or So, again, i'm goingnna I'm going to let you remember that. Um, He resists a lot. like a Different energy, right?
Speaker: Yeah, he resists a lot of different kinds of damage as a ghost. but um What are the... what are the things that chromatic orb Does?
Speaker: Um... Acid. cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder. Can I throw lightning at him? You can.
Speaker: Okay, that's what I want to do, because because when I was a kid, I got struck by lightning, so I have crazy lightning skills, and I want to throw a chromatic orb of lightning towards his... ghosty face and shock him into nothingness.
Speaker: Awesome. Go ahead and ah do that. Hit that plus six. straight next day Yeah. Oh, yeah. You hit him with a dirty 20. Uh, You throw out a little ball.
Speaker: of lightning and it hits him. and explodes. Uh, shocking him greatly. Roll the three. The 3D8. Yeah. i' Got it. I'm on it. Oh, son of a... Fumble, bitch.
Speaker: Ugh. Well... Uh... That's... That's okay. ah It was only five. But it did work. So that is... something.
Speaker: Um... Do you have anything else you'd like to do with a bonus action? Uh, with my bonus action. Um. I mean, I'm still afraid of him. And I think.
Speaker: At this point... Um... Can I give you more bardic inspiration? Does that make any difference? No, unfortunately it doesn't stack. Okay, so I wouldn't...
Speaker: have anyone else to give that to, would I? I mean, can I give it to Big Jim? I mean, you could, but I don't i don't know that he needs it. So, okay. No I think I'm good. I'm just going to stay right where I'm at.
Speaker: Okay. Cool. Um... Great. Uh... I am since I can't reach him with my halberd from where I'm at. I'm gonna do another Eldritch Blast.
Speaker: On top. Oh wait. Ugh, I'm Miss with a nine. That sucks. Okay. Um...
Speaker: And... I don't think I can do anything else with my bonus actions. All right. so Okay. That sucks. Um, Man, why is we we.
Speaker: Beat. Jack, so easy. Why are we having so much trouble with this freaking ghost? I mean, ghosts are tricksy. They're the undead. I... I fully intended Jack to be the harder one to beat. and um that we'd be able to find some way to dispel ah Black Larson, but we keep up. We keep rolling.
Speaker: Dot. Not great. Okay, it is his turn. He is going to He's going to use his. multi -attack again.
Speaker: ah But to do that, he has to use his withering touch. And so he's going to get closer to me. Hmm? So.
Speaker: He rolled an 18 to hit. a good thing for him I am super well armored and that. does not hit me my AC is 21. Oh, plus Armor of Agathys has some extra.
Speaker: things on that so he does not Hit me with his withering touch, he tries to. I would normally at this time with Armor of Agathys. throw out some cold damage back on him.
Speaker: But as a ghost, he is immune to cold. So. Uh, I hope. I won't do that. uh Armor of Agathys doesn't help me at all. I don't know why I did that.
Speaker: Oh, wait. Oh, you know what I can do though? he hit me With my reaction. I'm going to cast Hellish Rebuke. Um, Okay. So.
Speaker: ah which Uh... I... He is momentarily surrounded by green flames. and makes a dexterity saving throw. taking 2d10 fire damage on a failed save or half as much.
Speaker: on a successful one. ah So... What is his dexterity? That's a 14, so he he's able to dodge some of that fire.
Speaker: But... Um... wolf I rolled really poorly. Only. three So. Um, that.
Speaker: Sucks. But at least he is close to me again. ah which is good for... ah next round. Okay. Um,
Speaker: Back to the top of the order. It is your turn again. Let's see if we can finish him off this. this round. Yeah, I'm trying to... I mean... What do I do? What do I do?
Speaker: Hmm. So you've got... You've got Starry Wisp. Is one of your cantrips? And... um That deals radiant damage.
Speaker: And again, you remember as as a fairy. Uh... undead do not like radiant damage. Okay, that's what I was looking at.
Speaker: So I'm going to use my wand of the leader of the bands. To cast a starry wisp. Yeah? Yeah. when i do And...
Speaker: So you go ahead and... hit the Yeah. Oi! Oh, that is a natural one. Um. So that.
Speaker: That one fails. even though you have Ugh. ah Plus six on. on that Uh... Rolling a one, a crit fail. We we always honor the Nat 20s.
Speaker: We also unfortunately have to honor the g Nat Ones. um Got it. I'm afraid there's going to be a consequence. for that uh, You.
Speaker: Reach out. with your wand and you try to cast this ah This starry wisp of energy out at him. And when you do.
Speaker: ah your Your hands are unfortunately so cold. that the ones like slips through your fingers. ah you're able to fumble and get it again. but Um.
Speaker: Yeah. That was... The moment has passed. Yeah, the moment has passed and and you missed. Okay. Um... I. now being right up.
Speaker: next close to this homeboy. I am going to once again. Try. with my halberd my My warlock -packed weapon.
Speaker: Ah. infused with arcane energy. Son of a bitch. Damn it. You dirty, rotten ghost. Wait. I rolled a three and I have a plus eight.
Speaker: His armor class. is 11. Hmm. So I actually hit him. Even with that complete dog water roll. Okay, great. Would your bardic inspiration help that or no?
Speaker: ah No, I don't even need to. be I already beat it. So okay meets it, beats it is the is the rule. so I rolled 11, his armor class is 11.
Speaker: I do hit. so Okay, I'm going to roll for slashing. Damage. Oh, yes. I got the maximum. I rolled 10. On the D -10.
Speaker: Plus six. So that's 16. And then... Um, Pulling. From... My. Paladin Days.
Speaker: I am going to... Once again. Do it. A. Uh... I am going to cast... thunderous smite.
Speaker: on him. And. ah so calling calling out and bringing in divine energy with my bonus action i'm going to add Even more thunder.
Speaker: ah That. is Seven. Um, He is. teetering on the edge. ah He has Very few. Ghostly.
Speaker: Hit points left. Um. He didn't like that. He's gonna attack me again. Let's do this real quick. Let's see if he hits me.
Speaker: No he does not. Brooke, it's your turn again. Finish him off. All right, can I do my can I do my thunder wave again? ah Yes, you can. last You'll probably hit.
Speaker: you Right now, where we're configured, you will hit me. Bye. So do I want to move first? If you want to move, say, here.
Speaker: So that... the The 10 -foot cube would not. Hit me. That'll still hit him. It'll still hit him. All right. Then I'm going to move myself over, position myself perfectly, and then blast this dirty, rotten ghost with my thunder wave. Thunder, thunder, thunder wave. And then to do that. Where do I click?
Speaker: So you you don't have to do anything. This is a... This just goes, and he has to do a... um Uh... A dexterity saving throw.
Speaker: to see if it Ha! Awesome. Awesome. He rolls a two, so he's going to fail. Um, And...
Speaker: Sorry. Yeah, nope. Oh! But Brooke, you got. you got. perfect double damage. You got two A's on. both of those DAs. Yay! How do you want to do this? Your your tuba blast.
Speaker: ah dispels the last of the essence of Black Larson. Describe for me how you'd like to... Take him down. So...
Speaker: I look around the room and I see everyone around me knowing that we need to get rid of this ghost. And I put that tuba to my lips and with all the wind in my tiny little body. I blasted straight at him.
Speaker: running towards him. again with the same Music. that I killed his partner with, with a little bit of...
Speaker: Dramatic justice.
Speaker: blowing yeah Hell yeah. Little smithereen parts.
Speaker: The magic emanating from your spectral tuba. completely disintegrates him. And he disappears. He is an ex -ghost. And ah this cabin is now free.
Speaker: From. anyone else. um I'm going to narrate this next part. ah But I will need your cooperation. To do one thing.
Speaker: I want to... So what I want to do. is we need to get everyone out of the left side of the cabin. And... um that means that someone is going to...
Speaker: have to Stay. on the right hand side to keep it balanced. until we can get everyone out. Um, Can you volunteer to do that? Yes. And then at the last minute use your.
Speaker: your misty step to get out. Absolutely. Okay. So that's what we do. And you and I, Shepard. it's It's like one of those. One of those things with the fox and the grain and the...
Speaker: geese and we But we get everybody out. And then at the last second. ah So I'm the second to last person to go out. And then I jump out and then you misty step. And we're both out.
Speaker: and the cabin falls off the... The Cliff. But we are all safe. ah Yay, that's the win condition. Um, we We win.
Speaker: And... um The crowd cheers. Uh, Everybody's super amped. A door opens at the end of the arena and we're...
Speaker: ah we're able to go. Uh, we We take some bows along with... ah with with Chaplin and Big Jim in Georgia and wish them. uh the best and then we head out uh and as we do I give a ah big old middle finger to... Joe Gunn Cotton.
Speaker: Um, and Oh, and so do you. Awesome. So, ah We do that. and Head into the next room. where Another treasure chest awaits.
Speaker: We open up and find the dice that will decide our... Next destiny. ah our our next film that we're going to watch. But first, we have to rate these films.
Speaker: So. or But first, we have to we have to rate this film. Uh, On our. patented D20 scale. On a scale of 1 to 20,
Speaker: ah where Where do you put this? I give this a nat 20. Really? I do. Um. ah any Anything you want to add on top of that? or I just think as a founding piece of media for the rest of comedy and movies and structure and trailer and like, I feel.
Speaker: This should not just be a part of the AFI 100. It should. Be. Like. The... the cornerstone of comedy.
Speaker: movies I I the i give it. like It was, it was clever. It was still emotional. It was like when they called a dramatic comedy, I think they hit the nail on the head. I think it is a masterpiece. I really do.
Speaker: Yeah. I mean, it it very obviously is a masterpiece. Thank you with you. And I think. I guess the only thing keeping me from agreeing with you that this is a 20. is that I just love modern times so much more.
Speaker: And like that is a clear. And I haven't seen it. That's fine. Like, so that totally, totally all right. I could give to that and like consider it being an 18.
Speaker: knowing that I don't know everything Yeah, I think I'm like, I'm i'm at like an 18, 19. I think I'll go 18 just to like create that little bit of extra space.
Speaker: God damn, this is a masterpiece. This is such a good movie. I love it And. Everyone should see it. Um, Who do you think? is...
Speaker: the midge of this movie.
Speaker: and And it's not the bear. even though I want it to be the bear. or Or the dog or the or the. um the The donkey. Uh, you know.
Speaker: Oh, the donkey was great. I think... I think the midge of this movie... God, you know, I almost want to call it the tramp, but like...
Speaker: He's like the main guy, so he can't really be the midge. Um. So in absence of that...
Speaker: I mean, are we going with Georgia? Who are you calling? The Miz. Yeah, I... i like She provides so much opportunity for like emotional expression. and like redemption and stuff, but who are you calling? 100%. I... It's, it's.
Speaker: Obviously gotta be Georgia. i I agree. I just. There's... The actor who plays Big Jim. is... So fun.
Speaker: And the faces he pulls in this movie. Oh my God. And the like. that the things he's he is He is so much fun and like, I almost want to go to him, but no. Like Georgia. is...
Speaker: The heart of this movie. This movie would not work. without her. Yeah. And so it's. it's I mean, it doesn't work without Big Jim either.
Speaker: Yeah, I guess they could have. They could have gone other places instead of going back to find like he didn't he wasn't. pinnacle. Yeah, okay. I'm with you. I'm with you. They could have they could have kept like the...
Speaker: Like Black Larson ends up. out of this movie after the first like 25 minutes. Yeah, it could have kept him. They could have kept him. They could have made him.
Speaker: The major ongoing antagonist. They could have made Jack. The like. ongoing, big. big issue but like But... But... You know.
Speaker: there's There's this... There's this funny big guy who is like. at times the antagonist, but... really overall a friend and he's He's a lot of fun, but Georgia.
Speaker: Georges. Georgia's the match. like Yeah. but's I agree. percent So. Yeah. Um... Great.
Speaker: Then ah let's... Okay. Let's roll. for what we're... Gonna watch now. Next. Oh. ah because Brooke. um Again, the play of the game.
Speaker: I think is compounded. You took out. both of these guys. with your thunder waves. that. is the play of the game. Like. but Once again.
Speaker: ah You are just... doing mvp stuff here so if you will roll for me a d20 Absolutely. Figure out.
Speaker: what list we are pulling from.
Speaker: Fuck y 'all bitches. Ooh. The Nat 20. Well? We haven't. really determined what the Nat 20 is.
Speaker: Um... and And I kind of had a couple of things on here. Like just wild card. It can be anything. It can be. A co -host choice. It could be a fan choice.
Speaker: So one thing we could do, we have had. Roy Fillmore. Nominated. that we should watch the man who watched ah the man who killed Liberty Valen.
Speaker: Okay. take that seriously so we could do that. And I feel like that would maybe encourage other people. Who? Might not have. sent us in something to do that.
Speaker: Or... Brooke? What is a movie that you think I have not watched? that you think I need to have watched. and I will watch anything.
Speaker: You. You tell me. Now, keep in mind, i I've definitely seen Savannah smiles. So. I yeah i know that give me Um...
Speaker: It's a cartoon. Oh. Um, Have you seen the movie Paprika? I literally just watched it like a month ago when when we did. our inception.
Speaker: Uh. Ah. there's ah There's another movie. It's like... um, The Firefly movie one that we watched, the animated one. Grave of the Fireflies Yeah, it's like that one but it's not that one.
Speaker: Okay. Dang it, you just watched Paprika? Yeah, like literally because. When we were doing ah the Odyssey podcast and we were talking about Chris Nolan.

Speaker: i I think it's... Like. two people can have the same idea like What if? What if there was technology that let us go into people's dreams?
Speaker: And. some of those people are criminals. Like I don't. Like. That's... That's not. Like a... I don't know. It's like, what if a bank heist?
Speaker: And it's like... That doesn't mean one person necessarily ripped off the other. Um. I think there's some similarities, but I think that's more coincidence rather than like.
Speaker: evidence that Christopher Nolan was watching like Satoshi Kon movies. and It's called When the Wind Blows. When?
Speaker: The wind blows. Is that that's a. um Is that a Ghibli movie? no Oh, no. oh oh no Okay, yes, I know about this movie. I have not seen it.

Speaker: Okay. well We can watch that if you want to. It will make everyone sad. It will. Do you want to watch a sad movie about nuclear war? Or do we want to watch the man who watched Liberty Valance?
Speaker: I don't know. about the Or you can choose a happy movie. No, I'm trying to think of movies that... I have seen that you wouldn't have seen.
Speaker: I don't know what that would be. I've never seen the sweetest thing. um I'm trying to think of other movies that you've mentioned that I haven't seen.
