Speaker: but at the cost of you and your sanity and eternal damnation. A sacrifice.
Speaker: Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop Bellum Draconis. We are a live play 5e 2024 5th edition point.
Speaker: It's 5.5e, that's what we call it. Shut up. 5.5.5.5.5.5e D&D podcast set in the magical homebrew world of Aerith in the kingdom of Dralak but currently residing in...
Speaker: hell Otherwise known as Grimsby. Joining me for this week's episode, we have Pubey, who plays the rules consultant human cleric Clemron. I'm on the highway to hell.
Speaker: We have Ian, who plays the T-fl- No, Ian, who plays the Dragonborn... Dragonborn Barbarian Paladin Drago. Ah. What up?
Speaker: Got go there in the end. My name is Mark and I'm playing the human blade singer Wizard Seth Faroreva. And by last but by no means least... It's the slow whisper in the ear, the caress of the neck, the overly long eye contact, the tongue licking the rectum, Dungeon Master Danny.
Speaker: He's now giving a very long eye contact. I can see into his soul. Yeah. which His eyes were really, really open then. I like, yeah. They were like windows. well This is a good start to an audio-based podcast.
Speaker: I'm going to fill it with things that only you can describe but by seeing as well to make it really hard. Do it. It's like the roar of the cursed core still echoes in your ears.
Speaker: Far inside this floating fortress, beyond chambers of chain and flame and infernal machinery, you uncovered the truth at the heart of Tolkelon's great design.
Speaker: The curse that blankets the steel nightmare, preventing the living from entering its depths, is no spell woven into stone, nor engine forged by devilish hands.
Speaker: It is a corpse. specifically the broken, suspended remains of Graset, brother of Tolcalon, brother of Prego.
Speaker: Defeated upon Erith long ago and condemned to an eternity of suffering within the vile plane, his body has become the anchor of a curse so potent it reshapes reality itself.
Speaker: Yet the moment you reached the cursed core, disaster struck. Drago vanished. Ripped, screaming from this plane, and cast into a pocket dimension prison, hidden within the curse itself.
Speaker: A prison with only one other inmate. Tolcalon. Archdevil. Lord of the bile plane, enemy of the Gartrans.
Speaker: both now trapped together under the terms of an ancient, infernal binding designed by Grazat himself, a final act of spite ensuring neither prisoner can escape.
Speaker: But your purpose in coming here had been simple. Destroy the source of the curse, and in doing so, the barrier preventing living creatures to enter the steel nightmare would temporarily pause.
Speaker: But the hellhags who tend to this place have revealed the consequences of doing so. Should Grazett's corpse, the sacrifice, be destroyed, the prison dimensions that are tethered to it will collapse.
Speaker: Drago will perish, as will Tolkelon.
Speaker: The hags, however, offered another path. The curse could be rewritten. Drago could be saved. But infernal magic demands balance.
Speaker: A new sacrifice. A life willingly offered in exchange for another. One soul for one soul. One of your number. Emron, Seth, Prego, or Karstan.
Speaker: Either way, one outcome is definite. one of the undying champions or one of the heroes of the blight will not return to Aerith again.
Speaker: All have said their peace on this, except Seth.
Speaker: Has all eyes now fixed on the one-eyed veteran.
Speaker: As Seth would feel the weight of the moment, and realise the kind of importance of what he's going to say next. And we'll kind of look around the room, stare into the eyes of these unnatural hags that seem to circulate around them and hear the noise of the, just the area in general, and just the kind of vibration and weight of everything.
Speaker: And After listening to what Karstan has said, what Emron has said, what Prager has said, has let that all kind of lull over in his mind and his eyes flit from area to area, as you can see the cogs turning in his head again.
Speaker: He looks up and says,
Speaker: If I remember rightly, Draga had a plan and the plan was if one of us falls, we keep going.
Speaker: That was his plan.
Speaker: That was meant for him as well as any of us.
Speaker: I don't see what good it is trading one for another. This is him doing something that he probably would want. He's dying in combat.
Speaker: We don't know where he is right now really, what kind of position would put him in, but if anyone has to the the mentalness, the brains to withstand this with the faith that he has,
Speaker: It's gonna be him.
Speaker: This is an impossible decision to make. And Kasten, I don't know Drago half as well as you do. It would different if it was Emron in there. I'll bet you that. I would be doing everything to get you out.
Speaker: But it's not. It's Drago. A man who, well, a dragonborn that doesn't talk shit to anyone. He hates most people and things, let's be honest.
Speaker: But he always seemed to want to do the right thing and help people. There's no bigger way you can help people than to sacrifice your life for now.
Speaker: My vote is we, we take this, ah we kill that thing there and he points to the sacrifice of Krasip. And you don't go in, Karsten.
Speaker: And you tell his story because let's be honest, if I can hear you wanting to start to speak, but if we switch the roles around, do you really think that Drago will tell your story well if you die here and you're laying here forever? He'd be like, oh no, he died and it was very sad.
Speaker: And that'd be it. Do you want your story told like that? Or think of the way in which you could allow your friend, your hero, your brother in arms to retell his story the same way that I know i have heard the story of Folly Fizzlebang.
Speaker: And that is from you, my friend. That is from you explaining that story and remembering him and keeping him living. Switch it around. Imagine his story. Imagine his book. Gaston was good, then he was dead.
Speaker: The end. You're more than that. I know, but excuse me for, and he looks to Prego now. Prego, I thought the way you said it, if we remove the sacrifice, you indicated that Tolklon would become freed. Are you saying that he would, if we killed the sacrifice, Tolklon is permanently destroyed? Because you indicated he would be freed. that's the the I think the reason why we wanted to sacrifice, and I was willing to sacrifice us, is because in order to keep and to lower the the the the shield around the Steel Nightmare and keep Tolkelon captured, one of us has to keep him contained.
Speaker: That's what I thought had to happen. Am I wrong? Yeah, we could use some ah yeah clarity there before we put our soul in eternal damnation.
Speaker: It is possible.
Speaker: It is possible that
Speaker: Tolkelon He has other tricks up his sleeve. But as I understand it,
Speaker: we could keep him trapped.
Speaker: If we move quick enough. But that would be have to be part of a bargain. Someone would have to sacrifice themselves. Is that correct? Or is there another way?
Speaker: If we do nothing, If we just destroy the sacrifice,
Speaker: it will come back. And Drago would come back.
Speaker: Eventually.
Speaker: but he would be stuck there for that time. And I'm not sure how long he can survive against my brother. Okay.
Speaker: That is why it will only be a short window to get into the steel nightmare because the sacrifice would return. do mean the sacrifice would return? confused.
Speaker: We destroy this corpse. Yes. For a moment. What do you mean? welcome come Why can't we just destroy it completely?
Speaker: It doesn't work like that. There must always be a curse.
Speaker: If...
Speaker: Can the curse be changed? Yes, but it is a new sacrifice. So a willing sacrifice could change the curse. Yes. Could change the terms of the deal.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: And Castan looks to Seth, that is why I'm willing to do it. Because not only do we get our objective, but I can change the deal.
Speaker: I could release Drago from that prison and keep Tolklon trapped. But I could make sure that we didn't just have a few moments. This energy is protecting the Steel Nightmare.
Speaker: If the curse can be changed, as Prego says, and casts down points to Prego, if the curse can be changed, then that power could be redirected. Yes. That power could go the Undying Champions.
Speaker: Could it not, Prego?
Speaker: Look to the hags.
Speaker: It is manipulable entirely. It has to direct at a thing. It has to point at something. it has to have purpose and power, but it could could do that to anything.
Speaker: There you
Speaker: There is a reason to sacrifice in that it wouldn't just give us a window. It would give us a boon. It would give us an advantage in the fight that perhaps we have never had before. And all the time this has been done before, maybe this has never happened before.
Speaker: Maybe this is the difference that we need.
Speaker: To redirect this energy, not stopping it for a moment, but instead using it against our enemy. If this energy is enough to shield the steel magnet from all living creatures, if I can use the curse and channel myself, then this energy can become part of you, Seth.
Speaker: Part of Nyx, part of Baal, part of the undying champions. You would be empowered by the energy that I could send. Now that is a story anyone could tell.
Speaker: But at the cost of you, And your sanity and eternal damnation.
Speaker: A sacrifice.
Speaker: I cannot ask this of you, Cast End. I'm not asking you. if this is If this is what you wish, well, I cannot i cannot give it my blessing.
Speaker: I cannot willingly throw away someone with such such power, such energy as yourself. I can't put myself in that position. If it is something you wish to do, that is a different matter.
Speaker: But I cant cannot make a decision on it. No, I know. Because it is not me. It is not my eternity. Prego returns to the floating corpse of his once brother, wipes a tear from his eye and holds the hand of Grazit again and begins to murmur something, an infernal kind of... I can still understand that.
Speaker: It seems to be a kind of prayer, like a kind of um sending, like a kind of... ah
Speaker: a kind of ritualistic um passing of the soul, kind of hearing that it sounds like he will be replaced based on that conversation. At the same time, Emron, you're going to telepathically, this is to Emron only, hear Prego's voice in your mind.
Speaker: The only thing worth mentioning to you, Emron, is...
Speaker: the last cycle,
Speaker: we failed because we took Draga with us.
Speaker: There is something in delaying Karstens' decision here, but
Speaker: it's just to there are too many emotional stakes in this for me to say.
Speaker: Emman sort of takes a minute.
Speaker: He's been listening to Seth and Karstan say their pieces. Then he sort of says out loud, before we make a decision, before Karstan, you throw yourself into fire and go out in a blaze of whatever glory you want. and Prego, you said there was another option.
Speaker: What was that?
Speaker: A new sacrifice or We don't change the sacrifice and we stick to the original intention of this counter alignment. But I mean, you know you said there was a minute after, there was a moment after we destroyed the sacrifice where we could still keep your brother Tolkelon contained. Was that, was that not a thing?
Speaker: ah Did I misconstrue that? Not a minute. There is a moment, a moment of overlap before this curse starts again. And that was your window to get into the Steel Nightmare. Everything disappears for a moment until the curse returns.
Speaker: But that could be the window that Tolkelon needs to get out as well, couldn't it? Yes. Okay. And Tolkelon has the benefit of knowing where he is, whereas...
Speaker: I'm not certain this is somewhere Drago has been before.
Speaker: Okay. um It is dangerous to lift the veil, even for a moment.
Speaker: I don't know. I don't know what to do. ah don't know whether we do what Seth says and let Drago sacrifice himself and do what we planned.
Speaker: let Karstian do his thing.
Speaker: I just don't know. Like, could, I mean, is what Karsan's saying, the way saying about changing the spell, would would could that work? Could that be something in our in our favor that we've not had in previous cycles?
Speaker: this The curse is the first time that this there wasn't curses in previous cycles. This is new. Okay. But as I understand it, Karstan could do anything.
Speaker: Karstan could allow anything to pass into the steel nightmare. Karstan could redirect the curse to something else. Karstan could completely invent these terms and invent what this powder can do.
Speaker: Okay. Karstan pipes up. Just question. If I wanted to imprison someone else, like a certain dragon that pissed me off, could I do that as well? If it could find it. but The curse could find it?
Speaker: Yes. Interesting. Picture this as um a torch.
Speaker: We are holding the light, but the light needs to point at something. It needs to be able to locate it and find it.
Speaker: I've got a lot to make up for. I did screw the pooch in regards to the Shondra LaKar thing. Um...
Speaker: I don't know. When it was simple and it was just a case that we get Drago back, Tolklon stays contained. assumed that if we destroyed the sacrifice, that was it. We we don't get a chance to get Drago back. i I don't know.
Speaker: I hate to press for time, but... Yes. Drago has been in 20 minutes. Seth draws his sword. a Okay. Simple terms now, Brago. You talking riddles? You always have, I've known you.
Speaker: I drive this blade through your brother's heart or cut off his fucking head. What happens? You either take place or are we run. Why do we need to run?
Speaker: and Because we need to get into the steel nightmare. That is our window. That was the plan all along. Yes. We had i knew we only had a tiny bit of a window, which we have the so stones taught to help us communicate, to tell them, get the fuck on, before the window closes. The only thing that's changed is the Drago will be trapped.
Speaker: That we did not plan for. We did. If you're saying we did, planned you're saying we did then... The plan was we had a tiny window. we beeped it through to the others.
Speaker: Don't really understand the magic behind it or not kind of properties, but who knows. But we'd beep it through to them. They would go and jump on and sort out the steel nightmare, whatever that involves. I never really listened because I was too busy thinking about coming here.
Speaker: ah And we saved the world. Yeah. The plan was, and Drago had said this many times, and he says it's more to Karsthan now than to anyone else.
Speaker: If one of us falls, we stick to the plan. The plan is still possible. Now, I don't think we, this, this possibility of getting power I don't ah don't buy it.
Speaker: It's too random. But my concern is watching what if Tolklon gets out when we drop the se of the shield? We cannot. That was the problem that was the problem anyway, wasn't it? Yes, but
Speaker: I do not like the idea or like our chances against someone like Tolklon. He will get to Aerith eventually. It is not necessarily today we stop that.
Speaker: I wonder if it's wiser not to give o ourselves the burden. He would have made his way there somehow. And Drago won't die if we can get rid of the sacrifice. He'll still be somewhere.
Speaker: I don't know what happens.
Speaker: I mean, if it's... He is not here. If it's metaphysics... What would he say if he was here? What would he say? He would say, oh well, you know what? I'm ready to sacrifice myself. It'll be all right. um That's what he'd say.
Speaker: He is more likely to be lost in space and time than he is to be safe. But I couldn't say with any certainty. Kicked out on any plane, couldn't he? Like going to a... Or none.
Speaker: Or all of them split many ways. Okay. Okay. It's unknown.
Speaker: Um... But think again, Castane. You have some faith, yeah? You believe in things, you believe in people and morals and the right and the wrong, etc.
Speaker: I don't believe in much. Now Drago, he had faith. Akiva and all that lot with, what was his name, the Claude guy. So if there is anyone who has the mental cognizance to survive that kind of ordeal, or have some kind of deity watch his fucking back, Drago.
Speaker: He's a paladin of a god. Like if anyone is going to, you know, you That puts him in pretty good stead. Yeah, you can talk your way out of good situation. I can fight my way out of most, but that's not gonna help us floating through the planes of space and time, is it?
Speaker: A god might be quite useful, calling up upon the divine favor, you know? no no, you're right, you're right. mean, I would have no problem floating through planes if it's just second.
Speaker: can move myself through planes, it's fine. um But yes, um okay. It was a Loki flex, but okay. That's fine. Interesting time for that. That's all i need. um Okay. Okay. This is okay.
Speaker: Fine. We continue with the plan. When all this shit is done, i will then be going to find Drago. I will come with you. If we survive this, I will come with you.
Speaker: And we'll go and try and find Drago. I'll take you on a journey of planes. We'll find him because he will not, he will leave a very obvious path wherever he's going. It'll be very clear where he's been. Yeah, death, mutilation, crying babies, is the usual, yeah.
Speaker: but I mean, that was more folly burning down orphanages, but that's that's another thing. um Okay, um right. Okay. Prego, do we need to get to the transport the teleport circle that you got me in? Is that where we need to go to? If we rush, once you drive a blade through the sacrifice... We have to rush.
Speaker: And... Your friends going into the Steel Nightmare will have a minute at best. Okay, I have a plan for this. I can sort this.
Speaker: I have a spell that will allow me to transport myself over a distance. You guys make your way back to the transport space. It's literally one four up, isn't it? Yes.
Speaker: Yes. yeah I'll make your way there, and I can bump myself through the ceiling and be there instantly, thus giving us the best time to get straight out of there.
Speaker: You're saying teleport, yes? Yeah, I can teleport, and then we can all teleport. it's ah ah And he gets the spell back out. I haven't used it before, but don't worry, it'll be fine. Dimension Door.
Speaker: Prego just rolling Insight.
Speaker: Could you roll either persuasion if you're telling the truth, deception if you aren't? Do you need to know? I don't need to know. I just need to know the number. Okay, I will just roll a d20 and then add my modifier so you don't know.
Speaker: ah Five. Okay. So do do I then tell you if I'm... No. but you know I'm not doing the thing I'm... ah you you so you can send me a yes You can send me a private message as to whether or not you were rolling deception or rolling persuasion.
Speaker: And we'll continue. Yeah, okay. Okay, okay, okay. that's That could work. We do have the still have a problem in the fact that we've got those things outside the door.
Speaker: that we need to get past, but yes. There were several hellhounds in Ameragon, I believe.
Speaker: There are other doors out of this chamber.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: But we'll be two people down. Okay.
Speaker: Okay. And you're going to stab him and join us. Wait, how many of us need to go there? Three? Myself and Monus Prego. Four. Including you, Seth.
Speaker: Okay. I can also teleport one willing creature. So I could do two of us.
Speaker: I'll stay behind. it Let me be with my brother before he goes. Now, thank you for taking more cast hand because we're trapping his one of his close friends. Yeah. the And everyone's like, and hang on minute, I just want to make sure that you two, when he points at Prego and Seth, aren't going to stick around and then play as silly boogers and one of you end up sacrificing yourself.
Speaker: Castan, you wish to be with him in this moment, I will understand.
Speaker: I do. And I think between us, Seth and I can, when the doors open, perhaps...
Speaker: and might be worth us trying to hold them off. Will one door open or all doors open? You have the key. You can open one or all. Yeah, I've got the key. Okay.
Speaker: Right. Okay. Emron, Prego, when we open the door, you two get the the transport place but up upstairs that I arrived in.
Speaker: When you get there, don't know, Prego, you can speak to my mind? or ah Just shout. It is one floor above. I can shout. That's fine. um Okay.
Speaker: And we'll do it. Seth and I will teleport, and we'll join you up there. Okay. Okay. Which door do you want to go out of? The one we came in or the one on the opposite side?
Speaker: Wait, Danny, are there four doors? There are four. The north, the east, the south, or the west. And we came in through the west door. And the te stairs up were just to the west and the north, weren't they, if I remember correctly. Correct. That would be the quickest way.
Speaker: From what we know, that would be the quickest way. at The way we came, turn up turned right, up the stairs. But that's where the... hellhounds and the meragon were coming from you're beginning to hear noise outside the chamber in all directions now okay all right so how about this we open the opposite side up uh castane and i we start causing a kerfuffle draw their attention and then when we've got their attention i'll open up the other side and you can sneak sneak out i think we can cause a kerfuffle a kerfuffle it is then
Speaker: And ah Seth's going to do a knowing nod and pull out his scimitar and um go towards the east side and place his ah key up against it and the wall dissipate down.
Speaker: And then he'll just shout like just a big, ah,
Speaker: And a hellhound about 30 feet to to your kind of left towards the back of this chamber just in kind of response howls back and you can kind of hear scuffling and commotion moving, drawing east.
Speaker: It's since fallen quite quiet, Emron.
Speaker: ah On the Western Wall. Okay. Come on, fucks. Okay. ah Seth, took us the key. I throw over the sacrifice um to Emron.
Speaker: Oh, got it. Got it. It's all right. Got it. I've got it. Sorry. One eye. Bedding. And Emron will ah open his doorway. And you are beelining back up the stairwell. Prego back the stairwell. Okay.
Speaker: All right. So what we'll do is we'll do this as a kind a series of rolls. Okay. With dash actions, you'll be able to make it to that within one turn, if you're both wanting to do that.
Speaker: Emron, key, key, key. Emron throws the key back. It hits the wall and bounces because Emron's shit at decks. Oh, bastard. ill I'll allow a a straight throw in a relatively safe chamber to not be a roll-based thing.
Speaker: Okay, so we'll say that's kind of one round surprise action, etc. done. You'll already be at the stone chamber. ah Okay. By that point, stone table. ah
Speaker: So that will put us into an initiative then. ah So I need Seth and I need Karstan to please roll initiative. Not a problem.
Speaker: I've got 19. And Karstan? 17. and custom seventeen Thank you very much. All right. Top of the round. It is you Seth.
Speaker: ah Seth's going to hold an action that when a howhattan or the hand gets close, he's going to lock the door again. Okay. no, he's not. That's a chicken's way out. No, he's not going to hold that. He's going hold action. If at the hell he comes within him range, I'll fucking know what not. What am I doing? Holding actions like Seth would ever hold an action. They're going to hold this, is these nuts.
Speaker: Fuck's sake. And he instead is going to, ah cast Toll the Dead on the one he can see. Pull red and you this loud ah bell tolling and it vibrates around its head. i'm Sorry, I don't ignore that roll. It needs to make a wisdom saving throw, please. Wisdom save 15. We'll
Speaker: we use that damage
Speaker: Six. It takes five points of necrotic damage. And... Yep, that's it.
Speaker: And we'll just stand in the middle of the doorway blocking, so if anything goes past, it'll have to take an attack of opportunity. He will take an attack of opportunity. That's the end of my turn. Thank you very much. ah Next niche to order is Kastan.
Speaker: Kastan will move up to the side of Seth. ah He will place a ah hand on his shoulder and say, we'll hold them off and then we'll get ready.
Speaker: And Karslan takes out his rapier, his sort of flametongued rapier that's not um sort of fired up. And instead he utters some words. He says, Tyrion is light shine and I'm going to cast holy weapon upon my rapier.
Speaker: Okay. As the blade suddenly ignites um in this holy light and emits this bright light in 30 foot radius and then another 30 feet, it's dim light. And it suddenly has this golden holy glow on his rapier. And he sort of does a little musketeer salute with it and stands ready. Okay.
Speaker: As you kind of ready that action and turn back, you see you now that the doors are opening, the hags are becoming a little bit alarmed, and all three of them seem to be preparing spells and focusing on Seth and Karstan.
Speaker: ah And there we go, moves into view. Uh, hasn't quite got enough movement to get in five feet. i would say Sorry, but it has on each weapon. Sorry, what you're saying with my car and my ability to still understand, ah um, I know, uh, and still be able to comprehend languages. Um, am i able to tell what sort of spell the hanks are trying to cast?
Speaker: If it was your turn. Yeah. Okay. That's fine. um kind of From a very cursory glance, it's something offensive. Okay. and Yeah. They're flipping the bird at you.
Speaker: The Maragon has a reach weapon of 10 feet and it is going to take a slash at you, Seth, Ferry Reaver.
Speaker: No, not at me. ah Not like this. 15. Okay. Miss. Okay. ah Oh, it makes three attacks. Sorry. her That would be a six.
Speaker: Miss. pat And then a 19. He's like Neo. How do you move like that? Like what? Not fast enough. ah But now the the hounds are sprinting in and they can make that distance up quite well. Oh, wait. Hang a minute.
Speaker: Yeah, what was your held action? No, I didn't have hold action. and You said 19 on that last one. Yep. That would have hit. I accidentally still had Blade Song on my armor class, so the 19 would hit.
Speaker: Thank you very much.
Speaker: That is 12 points of slashing damage plus 4 points of fire damage. Thank you very much for that. and Two hellhounds can only hit you, Seth, and they're going to go for you. Two bite attacks each. 14, 19, 20 non-natural, and 11.
Speaker: I'm going cast a spell. eleven i'm going to cast um a spell called shield um bumps me up to you've bumped a lot so far sorry uh 23. okay so none of those hits cool none of those hits uh bottom of the round you hear a message from prego in your mind that says in position top of the round seth free river what are you gonna he's gonna uh like i've done all that and then kind of looked backwards towards where the sacrifices expecting to see car stand there and isn't and then he's concerned looks to him and goes
Speaker: I thought you were going to say something to Drago and then we were going to fuck off. Go do it now. i've I've got your back. Go, go, go. Those hags look fucking odd as well. So be quick.
Speaker: And i'm sorry, that was more than a couple of seconds, but you get the idea. Then I'm going to jump into action. And with my bonus action cast good old, which level do need to cast this out again?
Speaker: Third level, because fourth level a waste. It's the same. Third level, Shadow Blade, giving me both my weapons. du And then, because I've got my two attacks, I'm going to fucking hit the nearest Hellhound with my Scimitar. The one you got with Tell the Dead.
Speaker: Yes, to begin with. That's 15 to hit. Hits. And then it Sorry, then it takes... Seven points of slashing damage and then a little bit of necrotic damage in the space of nine necrotic damage and then two... No, I'm going to do one hit with my other hand.
Speaker: That was a wrong scimitar. Never mind. And then the shadow blade attack, single attack, is going to be a 19 to hit. Hits. And it's going to take 19 points of psychic damage.
Speaker: Wow, this one is on its last legs, but still standing. And if that hasn't helped with convincing Karstan, he's going to say again, go! After that attack. And that's all I can do. Bonus action, action, reaction. I'm spent.
Speaker: Okay. Karstan.
Speaker: I'm not in engagement rage, am I? ah Do you have a Reach weapon? No. ah Not currently. I'll just check my move. Okay, that's fine. Okay. ah First thing I'm going to do is I'm going to cast a Guardian of Faith ah behind the um Hellhounds.
Speaker: So a large Spectral Guardian appears and hovers over the duration. Basically, it looks like Claude. it looks like claude um it's ah it's ah it's basic yeah It looks looks like Claude and um any creature that moves within 10 feet of it or for the first time or starts his turn there will have to dex save or start taking radiant damage.
Speaker: essentially So it's basically's basically it's summoning there so that um it's going to hold the door for us. um And Karstan will summon it casttan will sort of sum it And he will step away towards the sacrifice and start speaking. He sort of leans towards the head. Sacrifice says, Drago, don't know if you can hear me or if this is pointless.
Speaker: But this is what you agreed with the others. This is what you said would happen, that the mission has to be done. So that's what we're letting happen. I didn't want to let it happen, but it is. But I will find you.
Speaker: Whatever happens, stay alive and I will find you. And then i assume that was my time done. And as you stand there with your hand over the sacrifice or near the sacrifice and the other wielding a holy weapon, the hags are going to attack, seeing you as a threat.
Speaker: And they're going to unleash these spells that they have been preparing. You are going to take a barrage of magic missiles from three different hags.
Speaker: um i'm going to least I'm going to use Counterspell to at least nix one of them. Okay. One second. All right. So they're a level four. So that would be 12 Magic Michels that are coming at you.
Speaker: Okay. ah i'm i'm I'm still going to cast Counterspell at least one of those to nix that spell. Go for it. Remind me the new Counterspell rules. councils um Creature makes a constitution saving throw.
Speaker: Does it... Oh, yeah.
Speaker: yeah ah yeah So it has to make a con against... It makes a con against my the DCI set, isn't it? ah you've got you've if you've got it in front of you you read it out it says you attempt to interrupt the creature's spell in the process of casting the spell the creature makes a constant and saving throw on a failed save the spell dissipates with effect in the action bonus action or reaction used cast is wasted the spells cast for the spell salt the sauce is expended and I've got I've got a I've got a DC next to it for mine okay I've got 10 I rolled 10 okay you failed great so you're going to take 11 magic missiles instead of 12
Speaker: Well, no, no, i no, I nix the whole spell, don't I? Ah, yes, it does. So you're going to take eight, sorry, rather than 12. Yes, nix the whole spell.
Speaker: Taking 21 points of force damage. Okay. yeah And they...
Speaker: I'm going to move in. I'm going to move in to attempt to protect the sacrifice. Okay.
Speaker: So Seth, you see you kind of behind you now are are also becoming kind of boxed in between these hags and these hellhounds. But that's all they can do on their turn.
Speaker: It is the Meragon's turn. And again, with its reach weapon, it's just going to take three strikes at Seth.
Speaker: I'm still under the effects of the shield by this point, FYI. m
Speaker: It's been your turn again since. Yes. Yes. So does that mean my reactions reset as well? Yep. Yes. So you could recast it if you felt like you needed to. ah So I managed to recast it. 20 non-natural. 18. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Before we go any further. 18. Just so I'm not... just i'm not i' Yeah, I'm definitely going to be re recasting it.
Speaker: Okay. since None of those three went through? Nope. It's 23 now.
Speaker: ah Great. Then in which case... or Hang on, hang on. Is he within... He's within 10 feet. Can you make a deck save as well, please? The Maragon. Ooh, yeah.
Speaker: 20, not natural. Okay, he takes 10 points of radiant damage as the Guardian guardian of Faith Claude gives him a slap with his weapon.
Speaker: 10, did you say? 10 points, yes. Thank you. Don't be a dick, he says. Okay. hellhounds and they're running out of space and they also need to make a deck set so any that start or what's it say anytime they move within so it's anytime they start or um or move within 10 feet of it for the first time they meet up they make deck saves it's basically all of them because the yeah other two have kind of reinforced the front line yeah uh okay
Speaker: 9. Fail. 12. Fail. 13. Fail. And 7. Fail. Okay, so the first three take to four the first two sorry take points of radiant damage each. damage.
Speaker: nice ah the third one takes ten points of radiant damage
Speaker: And then at that point, that is all the radiant damage that spell can kick out, dissipates, and the Guardian of Claude disappears. It gives out 60 points of damage and it goes.
Speaker: Nice. Did some crit damage there. ah They'll continue their turn and two of them are going to make packac bait tap pack tactics ah double bites at set. So four bites at advantage against your super high AC. 24. 15.
Speaker: ah twenty four
Speaker: and fifteen 19. Oh, a crit. So I've got 24. Does that hit? And then I've got crit. Okay, so I'll do the damage on the 24 first.
Speaker: We're getting hammered.
Speaker: You're going to take six points piercing and five points of fire on the first hit and then the crit.
Speaker: ah seven sorry Ten points of piercing and ah twelve points of fire.
Speaker: i Yes, that's down. yeah that's me that's cast on the scoop but none of the other hellhounds can squeeze through this gap so top of the round Seth i need to make a death save
Speaker: yep here it it's rolled off screen so I can't see it that's an 11 pass pass thank you end of your turn cast down Seth's just gone down yep I'm aware
Speaker: Fuck me sideways.
Speaker: Right. Okay. Okay. Okay. okay okay okay okay
Speaker: This changes some things. Quite a lot of things.
Speaker: Right. Okay.
Speaker: Right. Am I engaged by the hags? No. No, no one is within five feet of you other than the sacrifice. face But I am going to have do this. I'm going to move down next to Seth.
Speaker: I am then going to...
Speaker: Quicken spell.
Speaker: Can't cast these spells once, but I have got that. Between trying to draw breath right now, Seth, you hear another hastened message in your mind from Prego that just says, We're ready.
Speaker: Where are you?
Speaker: Unable to respond, of course. Of course. Okay, now.
Speaker: ah Right, I am going to use as an action, I am going to spend a fourth level. Yeah, let's do that. Okay.
Speaker: Fuck it, let's that's boot you up. Right, I'm going to spend a fifth level cure wounds and Karstan will slap his hand on Seth's chest and he will take...
Speaker: A 36 points of healing. Nice. Yeah, that'll do it. And as yeah a bard with battle magic as a bonus action, I will also, because I've cast ah a spell with an action, I will get to make an an attack against the hag next to me because she's a bitch.
Speaker: So I just want you to make a constitution saving throw, please. Before you do. 11.
Speaker: eleven
Speaker: Your cure of wounds is dispelled. It's counted. What a fucking bitch. By who? but the hacks By the Specifically, the one closest to you. Okay. The slot is not burned away, then.
Speaker: k
Speaker: She's a bitch. Okay. In that case, I definitely, definitely get to attack her, then. um So...
Speaker: Oh, for fuck off.
Speaker: That's a natural one. Could roll d20 for me? No, I can't.
Speaker: That's 19. fine You almost fumble your blade, but you hold it. Of course I do. Of course I do. Okay, what other bullshit have I got um in my mind? Right, okay.
Speaker: Anything else?
Speaker: Favoured by the gods. There's the problem with having so much shit you can do as a character that you don't actually know.
Speaker: There is nothing I think I can do at this stage. So that is the end of my go. Okay. It is the hags turn and they are going to the one you just struck at is going to take a strike. You using its claws.
Speaker: Uh, 22 and a 21 to hit That's 12 on the first. both here
Speaker: ah twelve on the first
Speaker: 16 on the second. Damn it. I also realized I probably should have tried to counter that person's counter spell, but you know, counter off. Uh, that's all the hack. The second hack, uh,
Speaker: I don't have an awful lot of spells, which is useful. you're going to get hit with two new volleys of arcane missiles. Magic missiles, sorry.
Speaker: Okay, I will burn another counterspell to um stop one of those spells. Probably nine on their con save.
Speaker: Yeah, they failed that. so so This is just four magic missiles. Karsan clicks his fingers and it just disappears.
Speaker: 17 points of damage from the magic missiles. This whole thing could fail at this rate. It is the Meragon's turn. It has reach and it's going to strike at Seth.
Speaker: What a bitch. and Seth, that is... failure. Just a failure. Well, I've got roll first against your AC.
Speaker: First one missed.
Speaker: 14 hit you? I've still got shield on technically but i've still worked shield on technically I think it's still 23.
Speaker: no no, it's been my turn. It's been your turn. Yeah, so it's 18 is my AC. Okay. ah You take one hit, so you have received one.
Speaker: Yep. Death save. Then it's the Hellhounds turn, and they are going to... at The first wave are going to ignore you and step over you, Seth, and go straight for Karstan. So Karstan, you're going to get bit by two
Speaker: advantaged Hellhounds.
Speaker: Yeah, it And then 17. So one hit there on the first one. Third hit is 11. is eleven Misses. hit Four hits, another 21 hits.
Speaker: 13 points of piercing.
Speaker: Six points of fire.
Speaker: Carson does not look healthy. And then the second wave
Speaker: ah are going to, well, hmm. one will be able to squeeze through here uh one is going to make an attack at you on the floor seth will it have advantage on both with strikes roll the one in and a two um i i'm gonna be that guy think within five feet That was already with Pack Tactics.
Speaker: it's it's It's a critical, automatic critical hit and an unconscious opponent that's on the floor. just The last ones would have hits as well. Conditions, unconscious. If you're unconscious, you have infastated. Any attack roll that hits you with a critical hit. Oh, it's got to hit you. Sorry, apologies. Yeah.
Speaker: I always thought it was just automatic. i apologize. you didn't realize they had to like, you know, you could accidentally slip and fumble it. Okay. I didn't think I misremembered that. Yeah. So I, I was assuming it was just automatic because you know, how can a thing on the floor not defend itself? Still has to hit. They got to hit yeah a wardrobe has AC. You still to hit it.
Speaker: Yeah. Um, okay. So Seth, you still draw a breath at them right now. And that's all of the hellhounds term concerned, concerned for your welfare.
Speaker: If Prego has come down, Emron has come with him. Prego and Emron, thank you, are going to have returned.
Speaker: I'm going to find a quick token. and We'll go bottom of the round. We'll just respond finding a token. You go first, Emron.
Speaker: Okay. Okay.
Speaker: Well, this is gonna, uh, everyone's going to, as a bonus action, I'm going to do a celestial revelation, and become an angel. Okay.
Speaker: Um, cause you know, that shit's kind of like needed right now. And then I'm going to cast a spell, please. A level three cleric spell religion check, please.
Speaker: Of course.
Speaker: Oh, fuck off. Natural one. The spell does not happen. Do I burn the slot? ah Yes, you burn the slot. Okay, cool.
Speaker: Well, that was useless. rolling like yeah Rolling like turds. This is where we get a TPK. um Okay. Sharing your initiative, Prego is just going to turn to you and say, we have to make a sacrifice or they're going to die.
Speaker: Okay. um I have an action.
Speaker: Emron, they're going to die.
Speaker: Okay. You get him out. I'll sacrifice myself. And Emron steps forward, ready to... Still your turn. Yes. And that's where going to week's episode. The Fellowship the Tabletop, Belen Dragonis.
Speaker: Until next time, guys. Until next time. bell
