Introduction to Aerith and Dralak

00:00:00
Speaker
Now, what have we got? Has anyone got any more potions? What have we got?
00:00:05
Speaker
ah Uh... Yeah, uh... What have we got, Alpha? I believe we... there's
00:00:44
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. Benham Dracronis, we are a live play 5e 2024 D&D podcast set in the magical homebrew world of Aerith in the kingdom of Dralak. Joining you for this week's episode, we have Peebee who plays, ah what are you playing now?
00:00:59
Speaker
Someone? Who knows? Might don want money even be in the episode, who knows?

Character Introductions and Banter

00:01:05
Speaker
Thank fuck for that. We've got the apple pie smashing edgelord Calum who plays the warforged Shartificer Alpha. You'll be along for the ride. Ian who plays the tiefling war sower Nyx Corell. Hello.
00:01:17
Speaker
And Drago? What up? There you go Will who plays dragonborn druid Bal Balcon. My nipples are out and they're hard. Ooh, Darren who plays the half-orc barbarian Thalak Sunjari.
00:01:29
Speaker
We're going up to the spirit in the sky. Oh, yeah. um My name is Mark and I am playing the human blade singer Seth Farrow. Remember last, but by no means least is the anecdote adjudicator, the ancient lore antiquator, the arbiter of adventure, the vegan duchess who caresses my buttress. Don't you, Master Danny?

The Tavern Dilemma: Which Kingdom to Sacrifice?

00:01:51
Speaker
Bonjour.
00:01:53
Speaker
Speaking of jaws, we see the jaw of old Gell chomping down on a ah wizened bit of bread, chewing...
00:02:06
Speaker
pernicious perniciously for a long, long time on a small bit of bread before taking another bite. I'm just describing someone eat now in a small tavern somewhere when the darkness happens.
00:02:19
Speaker
And he says, I'm going to sit in the corner and masticate a bit. Ooh, don't fuck it up! Prego reveals to stop the steel nightmare, a kingdom must be sacrificed, and last time they sent holy people so that the gods could make a decision, but that didn't fucking work!
00:02:38
Speaker
The group talk about which kingdom should go. Seth's like, Drago, you can't go up, and Drago's like, Seth, I can! There's only a single knight left. to this cycle, the group are told, and they begin to rest with a song for Emron. Whilst the Undyne champions receive Emron's final boon as a level up, bitches, Prego picks up his instruments to play Emron's eulogy in all 12 cycles of their time together, and the group talk, consoling each other over Emron's Drago tries to have a heart-to-heart with Karstan, and Karstan promises to save Aerith, and the Undine champions won't be able to stop him. In the morning, Karstan casts a hero's feast, and the group get together for Prego, teleporting them away, up up to the steel nightmare. And just as Prego is cast in this, he also casts Suggestion to remove Drago, and Karstan's like, oh shit, I gotta follow!
00:03:36
Speaker
Darkness. Not the darkness of night, not the darkness of a cave, the darkness between moments. For an instant, maybe a heartbeat, maybe eternity, you cease to understand direction. Up and down unravel.
00:03:51
Speaker
Sound stretches into echoes.

Transport to the Steel Nightmare

00:03:53
Speaker
Color bleeds before collapsing into black. You are neither falling nor standing, neither alive nor dead, but suspended somewhere in between realities.
00:04:04
Speaker
A pressure presses against your thoughts, ancient and mechanical, as though an impassly vast impossibly vast intelligence has become aware that something has entered its domain.
00:04:18
Speaker
It does not speak. Then, stone crashes beneath your boots. The sensation of gravity returns so violently that every muscle tenses instinctively.
00:04:31
Speaker
cold, stale air fills your lungs. The smell of ancient dust, damp mortar, and extinguished incense replaces the sulphur and the ruins of Goldport Keep. but You have arrived.
00:04:48
Speaker
The Steel Nightmare. You stand within the broken undercroft of what was once surely a magnificent church. Time has not simply worn this place, it has consumed it.

Arrival at the Steel Nightmare

00:05:01
Speaker
Great stone columns lean at impossible angles, fractured vaults disappear into darkness overhead, and cracked mosaics depicting forgotten saints lie shattered beneath the rubble.
00:05:13
Speaker
Whatever faith once sanctified these halls, none of the arriving group recognise the iconography of this this deity, this this god. The silence is unsettling.
00:05:27
Speaker
Not because nothing lives here, but because something is listening. Then comes the sound. A heavy thud. Wood groaning under tremendous force.
00:05:40
Speaker
Then another. From the far end of this undercroft, a pair of immense oak doors have been reinforced with broken pews, shattered masonry, and lengths of iron chain.
00:05:51
Speaker
Something beyond them strikes with slow, deliberate impacts. Not frenzied, patient. Whoever barred those doors expects them to fall.
00:06:05
Speaker
In front, several figures stand before this barricade, weapons drawn, every face turned towards this teleportation circle.

Encounter with Allies: Wren, Robin, and Sayangar

00:06:14
Speaker
For a brief moment, neither group moves.
00:06:19
Speaker
And then recognition sets in. Wren. Beside her stands Robin, armour scarred and splintered, blood dried across one shoulder. nearby Sayangar grips his weapon with white-knuckled determination, exhaustion in every movement.
00:06:39
Speaker
All three bar this unmistakable look of people that have already survived far more than they expected, and who have been holding this position alone for too long.
00:06:51
Speaker
Their expressions seem to shift from disbelief to relief, and then concern.
00:06:59
Speaker
Ren breaks the silence. You made it.
00:07:05
Speaker
She looks around you.
00:07:09
Speaker
Where's Drago? Karstan? Emron? And then the doors strike again, harder this time.
00:07:22
Speaker
ah sir That's a good question! As Nyx looks around, Where is Drago? And where's Carstan? Did they get splinted off?
00:07:34
Speaker
They were right here. left the circle. Oh, wait. Drago walked. What the fuck?
00:07:42
Speaker
Is there a plan we are not familiar with?
00:07:48
Speaker
As this happens, Robin's going to start to walk forwards and he's just going to look at them all, look at all these figures that he's only heard of and hasn't met, and he's just going to go...
00:08:00
Speaker
That man is my friend. He would not abandon the three people stood here on this God forsaken church floor. Now my sister asked you a question.
00:08:10
Speaker
Where is Drago?

Flashbacks: Journey to the Steel Nightmare and the Dragon

00:08:14
Speaker
Before anyone has a chance to speak. Before anyone has a chance to speak. We're going to reverse in time.
00:08:22
Speaker
And we're going to follow the events of this party of three. In kind of short form flashback sequence, if you will. So I need everyone except Mark and Darren to remove their headsets.
00:08:43
Speaker
The following are a series of kind of lived memories from the last sort of 12 hours for you all.
00:08:51
Speaker
First, the reunion. Goldport keep. For the first time in what feels like a lifetime, Robin and Wren stand face to face.
00:09:03
Speaker
No battlefield, no urgency, just siblings. They close the distance, embrace tightly, holding on for a heartbeat longer than either intended.
00:09:14
Speaker
Nearby, Syingar steps forward, and Robin extends a hand. The handshake is firm, it's measured, an acknowledgement of comrades who have fought the same war but not the same battles.
00:09:28
Speaker
That memory fades. The next moment, the world breaks. Sighing up with a stone pushed to your lips, telling the party of what you're seeing.
00:09:39
Speaker
Those in the hells and those at sea.
00:09:47
Speaker
A third memory. Departure. The courtyard. And Goldport Keep falls silent.
00:09:56
Speaker
Valkyraeth lowers herself to the earth, immense wings folding as this dragon offers you her back. There are no speeches. There are no grand promises.
00:10:06
Speaker
Only final glances from you three to the winged watch and those who survive still at Goldport Keep.
00:10:17
Speaker
Then with one beat of her mighty wings, the dragon climbs to the sky with you enter with you on her.
00:10:26
Speaker
The Fourth Hours later, you hang in the skies above Erith, steel nightmare in front of you, impossible, silent.
00:10:39
Speaker
Valkyra circles, with her ancient eyes fixed on this shimmering veil that surrounds the city. You wait and no one speaks. And eventually, like a glass beginning to fracture, the barrier weakens.
00:10:54
Speaker
And a single nod between the three of you. And a kick. On her hide. This is the moment.
00:11:04
Speaker
The next flashback. Valkyraeth dives. Wind screaming past you. For one impossible instant, you face resistance, and then it's gone.
00:11:20
Speaker
A dragon roars.

Strategizing Against Chandra Lekar

00:11:22
Speaker
You wince in pain, but it doesn't hold. The barrier gives way. You burst through at this terrifying speed, reality ripping around you before sitting in this eerie stillness.
00:11:39
Speaker
The next memory.
00:11:42
Speaker
Valkyraeth lands heavily into an abandoned city square. No voices greet you. No market stalls, no guards, only silence.
00:11:54
Speaker
She lowers herself for you to dismount before she turns skyward again.
00:12:01
Speaker
She returns to war on Eryth. You three stand alone. And slowly. Recognition dawns.
00:12:13
Speaker
You know these streets.
00:12:17
Speaker
A memory fades. An eighth memory. Robin walks first. Your pace begins to quicken. Wren swiftly behind you. Every corner, every alley, every worn cobblestone. This is impossibly familiar.
00:12:35
Speaker
This is never winter. Not merely inspired by it, not similar to it. This is never winter. but its streets are empty, its windows dark.
00:12:47
Speaker
The city as you remember it, but its soul removed.
00:12:54
Speaker
The next memory.
00:12:58
Speaker
Before you can gain understanding about what's going on, a shadow emerges, far too large. A towering figure, swooping between the buildings.
00:13:15
Speaker
A grand dragon, far bigger than Valkyraeth, enters your view with a deafening roar.
00:13:25
Speaker
You release an arrow, a knife thrown from Syengar, a spell cast from Ren.
00:13:34
Speaker
Then you begin to run.
00:13:38
Speaker
The last memory.
00:13:42
Speaker
Confusion gives way to instinct.
00:13:47
Speaker
You shout full back, Robin, with everything you have, and you break, sprint through abandoned avenues.
00:13:57
Speaker
You head into dust and darkness until a familiar symbol catches your eye, a great stone temple dedicated to Moradin, the Dwarven Allfather, although weathered through time, the bronze doors still stand.
00:14:12
Speaker
You throw yourself inside, you slam the door shut, you make for the Undercroft and you bar it however you can. And you hold refuge there for an hour as Wren prepares a circle.
00:14:29
Speaker
And Robin's question reverberates in this chamber demanding to know where Drago is.
00:14:39
Speaker
It is, as we said, Drago walked There is the possibility, as I said, or a backup plan of sorts. I'm not saying Drago abandoned in anything, but the enemy has eyes and ears everywhere. Perhaps there is something going on we are not privy to. Either that he just got scared.
00:15:03
Speaker
This is like the big battle in the sky. We're going to go and fight a dragon. We're going to go and save Aerith. There's a whole other thing at play here. Who's to say he just didn't get cold feet, claws, tail between Is Drago afraid of heights?
00:15:19
Speaker
There is another thud on the wall. So everything around you shakes. Got stone and dust falls upon you. Robin looks at Nyx with what he he tries to mask contempt. And then he returns to Alpha and just goes...
00:15:35
Speaker
Are you trying to tell me that that man got scared and that's why he's not here? People do strange things with fear approaching their doorstep. no Who knows?
00:15:48
Speaker
let's Sorry to button, is this really the time? what What's banging on the door? something that far more terrifying? And something far more terrifying and dangerous than any enemy that you spoke to, to this point. Robin will turn from... You don't know what we've done!
00:16:03
Speaker
and next amount rob Robin will not acknowledge that. and He'll just go up to Ren and he'll just done a Can you get him here? And Karstam, we need them both.
00:16:15
Speaker
No, I'm so i sorry. We've got to deal with her. And he kind of so she kind of makes a point of trying to find your eyes, Baal.
00:16:27
Speaker
She's here. Chandra Lekar. Yes.
00:16:34
Speaker
And she's not fucking happy.
00:16:38
Speaker
Well, neither am I. She's literally outside the door now, yes? She's going tear this whole temple down with us inside it. We need to stop her. Yeah, okay. No, I don't think running's going to do it, and certainly not. If I'm here, I'm fucked regardless, so... If she knows I'm here, I'll be the first target of hers. That might give you a chance.
00:17:02
Speaker
um Right, if you if you've got anything that can protect you against lightning... I strongly advise you prep yourself for it now. ah Check your packs and he'll turn around to the Undying Champions.
00:17:14
Speaker
Packs, now, what have we got? Has anyone got any more potions? What have we got?
00:17:20
Speaker
ah Uh... Yeah, what have we got, Elva? I believe we... LAUGHTER
00:17:33
Speaker
No time to laugh. Tell five potions of greater healing remaining in the shared inventory bag, which if I take a moment to find, then they'll be showing in the shared inventory again.
00:17:47
Speaker
i've I've got one of those potions of heroic deeds things thing. It lasts about an hour, right? Yes, apparently. Now's the fucking time. Okay!
00:17:59
Speaker
ah I'm going to drink that potion of heroic stuff. ah Well, could you tell me what it does again? long have we been playing? It's basically blessed. You're blessed for an hour. blessed for an Though I don't think we have as many as four in there because I feel like, depending on how many we've drunk, can't remember how many we've drunk. also have benefit of heroic feast as well, everyone.
00:18:20
Speaker
Oh, shit. What's the hit points from that? What does heroes feast from you? yeah it is hang on 14 yeah temporary hit points no not temporary max hit point increase it increases your max hit points by that number and you get that many hit points so essentially and for ah for the day I think you basically get you can heal to that much tasty Thank you, Wills.
00:18:44
Speaker
Can't be frightened? Or advantage on frightened? You get imunity immunity to frightened, immunity to poison conditions, and you've got a resistance to poison damage.
00:18:59
Speaker
So is there any point we drink in this potion? Yes. You add a d4 to your rolls. To any roll you make. Well, not an ability check. and Anytime you roll a d20, basically.
00:19:13
Speaker
While that's happening, Farrak will take out the Flametongue and will just ignite the sword.
00:19:22
Speaker
I'm pretty sure that she'll be using her Breath Weapon first. Straight lines don't line up. There's no point having weaker behind the strong here, spreading out as our best tactic. Maybe divvy up the potions.
00:19:36
Speaker
Don't keep them all on one person. And don't let her take flight. We've got to keep her on the ground as long as possible. It's our best chance.
00:19:50
Speaker
Are you fairly confident she's coming for you first? ah Oh, yes. If anyone's able to stop me from dying, please. I can help you there.
00:20:04
Speaker
He looks at to Prego, gives him a nod. And if any of you drop, I can bring you up so long as there's gold in your coin purse.
00:20:15
Speaker
Robin, while this is happening, will just turn to Ren. As he can see the dust falling from the door that's been whacked, and he will just go, if this goes south, can you get yourself out of here?
00:20:28
Speaker
Sure. But it can't go south. We have to stop this.
00:20:36
Speaker
positioned he'll he'll give He'll steal a glance to Syungar and then just turn back to Ren and go, anything you can do to get him here, do it.
00:20:49
Speaker
She starts wrecking her brain at the same time, kind of begins to prepare ah for combat. Robin is going to move back and he will come towards...
00:21:05
Speaker
Baal and we'll look at Baal and go, you know what we're about to face? Yes.
00:21:13
Speaker
Anything you can give us? Anything you can, any advice, and anything at all? Other than what I've just said, don't fucking hold back.
00:21:22
Speaker
Use your big spells. If you can do spells, I don't fucking know who you are in all honesty, sorry. You can do spells. She'll be able to burrow, she'll be able to dig.
00:21:35
Speaker
She created her lair back in Dralak. We get her in this room, perhaps. This is where she wants to be. And we try to keep her here. We've just got to fucking chip away, bring her down, and do not let her escape.
00:21:51
Speaker
She will simply fly off, recover, and come again, and she will not stop until we're all dead.
00:21:58
Speaker
If I drop, bring me up. If you drop, I'll bring you up.

Preparations and Tactical Debates

00:22:04
Speaker
Fair enough.
00:22:07
Speaker
And Robin will move away towards a a decent vantage point and will draw his bow. So you're all kind of in the undercroft, the kind of layer above kind of on the, on the ground level has kind of been swiped apart. You can, you can sense that there this temple is being kind of smashed and broken down. you,
00:22:33
Speaker
if you move remove your barricade you'll be at city street level the barricade that's being currently smashed upon yeah okay what happened to Valkyraeth
00:22:55
Speaker
Robin looking down the eye of his bow will go she left us here it's the last we saw of her why good
00:23:07
Speaker
Honestly, yes, she could help, but two dragon matriarchs at full power would create a storm the likes you have not seen and would tear this whole place apart.
00:23:17
Speaker
Not good for any of us. Okay. But will kind of take a step forward to like the vanguard of this group. Shield raised. Cast an eye back over his shoulder at Nyx.
00:23:33
Speaker
yeah And Nix will move up right by a beside Biles. Sure about this? Nope.
00:23:43
Speaker
Okay. Don't die. yeah Again. I will try not to. If anything, you'll be second target.
00:23:55
Speaker
Oh, wonderful. That's just because of our relationship? Correct. What boon! That's not bitch she is.
00:24:03
Speaker
Let's go and double end this bitch then. Okay. Okay, Savvy, let's fucking avast this motherfucker. Let's go! barr will kind of take another step forward just so he's not side by side with Nyx.
00:24:18
Speaker
And he will raise his voice and shout towards the barricades.
00:24:24
Speaker
Chandra LaCarr?
00:24:28
Speaker
The banging stops.
00:24:31
Speaker
I know you're out there.
00:24:35
Speaker
And now you know I'm in here.
00:24:40
Speaker
Come and get me, you big ugly bitch. And he'll raise his shield.
00:24:48
Speaker
And currently hold the dodge action.
00:24:58
Speaker
It's eerily silent.
00:25:02
Speaker
There is no response to your call for maybe a minute.
00:25:09
Speaker
Is anything anyone would do after a minute of waiting? Start luring your shield bit.

Exploration and Discovery of the Surroundings

00:25:15
Speaker
It's bit awkward.
00:25:19
Speaker
It was a good line, though. Well, thank you. i Yeah, I got chills. Goosebumps, look. Yeah, nice. I thought the barricades were going to come down she was just going to blast through and we know we were to fucking do this, but...
00:25:31
Speaker
why Why do why should we should just go out there? Well, if she takes to the skies, she'll have a great advantage over for us. so Oh, do you think we could bring the ceiling down on all of us, including her?
00:25:45
Speaker
Maybe. I'm just going to go check, ah see if... Syingar, have a look, see if you can see anything. Do yourself, you bastard. Why am I talking to myself?
00:25:56
Speaker
Fine. like Okay, I want to get one eye though, you prick. No, no, no, Seth, Seth, Seth, not worth it. and i' You're like an ice cream in the fucking desert.
00:26:08
Speaker
What is ice cream? it's Iced cream. Surely you've had iced cream before. I've creamed. I've creamed too. We've all creamed to ice. Anyway, regardless. Speak yourself.
00:26:18
Speaker
We've all heard you cream, okay? Let's just focus on... Yes, yes, okay, okay, okay. Just fucking let me listen, let me listen. Okay, I'm going stop still and just use his 24 passive perception.
00:26:31
Speaker
And listen. Mainly you hear Seth mouth-breathing.
00:26:39
Speaker
Do you kind of press your ear to the barricade? You don't even hear the wind. There is no noise.
00:26:51
Speaker
what could what What do your ears... What do you hear? Am i Obviously, I know Chandralekar. I'm aware of her and her powers. Do I know her to be a spellcaster? Is she is she like ah a renowned kind of...
00:27:09
Speaker
with the arcane arts as well as her generic kind of draconic power. Is that something I would know? Make a history history check. Oh, shit.
00:27:19
Speaker
History? That's intelligence-based. Oh, no. What am I doing for my history? Let's have a quick look. Oh, plus one. Come on, bar, you sexy mother... That's an eight.
00:27:33
Speaker
She definitely had kind of magical control of her lair. The few times you've seen her outside of it, it was all kind of her own power rather than necessarily magical power.
00:27:48
Speaker
Okay.
00:27:51
Speaker
Well, I suppose if she's not coming in here, she's not going to stop, especially not now that she knows I'm here too. um Don't stand in the open whilst I start clearing some of this barricade. Because one way or another, we can't stay here.
00:28:07
Speaker
Hopefully we can bring the fight to us. And if not, we fucking bring it to her.
00:28:15
Speaker
Just don't stand in a clear line of sight, would you, please? Val says as he turns around, and then he'll start yanking away at parts of the barricade. Seth's going to go and start helping and say to you, do you think I could ride her and stub her in the back?
00:28:27
Speaker
I've always thought that would be a really cool way to go. and Well, it would certainly be a way to go. She would most certainly just devour you in a single bite. But I mean, just please don't die. Good. I'm glad i we had this chat now and not when I had done it later. actually did it. Yeah, now I'm with you. It makes sense.
00:28:43
Speaker
I'll get that bit if you if i wanted to do that. I've got like this new spell that I'm up for trying out. That's like a door and we walk through it and we appear where we want to appear. And you can come with me. You can literally walk through the door. So I think, I don't know. I haven't tried it before, but if you want to appear on the end of her back or on her back or her neck, I could be like, yeah.
00:29:06
Speaker
Oh yeah. Dimension door. Is that what it's called? It just says door in my notes. Yeah, well and Seth's going to open his spellbook and... Yeah, i've I've got that one as well. Hey, snap! Look at us! Guess I'll get the barricade by myself then, Seth. thanks Oh, sorry. Maybe you Dimension Door yourself then? Or can we can we chain our Dimension Doors up? ah I don't know. i think we just go with it.
00:29:33
Speaker
We wing it. Hey, because she's got wings. Ah, yeah. yeah That was a joke because we're all going to die. That's why it's good it's funny.
00:29:44
Speaker
I'll get that bit, but you put it down. i'll go down I'm just more of a cheerleader for this little bit. But we'll get his wildfire spirits out as well without damaging anyone, not nearby anyone, not nearby any structure that can fall down, et cetera, et cetera.
00:29:59
Speaker
Seth still looks warily at that thing.
00:30:04
Speaker
If it tries to eat you, it's trying to move you. Just accept it this time. For fuck's sake. I know, I learned the hard way.
00:30:12
Speaker
Shifting, shifting, shifting, moving things around. And yeah, after kind of a few minutes of it, you pretty much expose just the oak doors now. The oak kind of bronze doors.
00:30:25
Speaker
Hey, I'll get them. I'll get them. You go over there and he points Bart to you to move somewhere else in the room to see if, and if she's right there, at least you'll fry me, then at least she'll go in to get you and then you can all wail on her.
00:30:38
Speaker
Well, if you open the door and stand behind it and I'll stand, I don't know, maybe 30 feet back, 40 feet back, shield up and then maybe travel around. Actually, shit, I need longer than that. How far is the room that we're in? How big, like, how long is it? Oh, it's about a kind 90-foot-long chamber, about 60-foot wide.
00:30:55
Speaker
Cool. I'll drop back about 70 feet then. Shield once more raised, knees kind of bent, like, ready to jump, dive, dip, dodged du dodge, dodge. And it's Seth who's going to open the door.
00:31:08
Speaker
If it's a double door, Farrock's going to come up alongside him and do the other one. As you kind of is' got to open it, it requires you to kind of push out. And as you push out, you realize you're pushing against kind of like debris and it's not like a clean open.
00:31:22
Speaker
You eventually get the doors open, kind of plumes. of dust and smoke just kind of smoke screens this entire chamber above you as this huge temple has just been leveled and there's just debris and rubble everywhere. So you kind of are expecting to see another chamber, Sayangar and Robin.
00:31:50
Speaker
You now kind of feel ah the the sky instead above. There was once this great hall above you that no longer stands. And as again, as that kind of crossing that threshold into this space, all of your ears begin ringing ringing in static. There is just this low resonance static a chime that you can't kind of cover. You you step back in and the the it doesn't change in volume, but it's constantly there.
00:32:23
Speaker
You're stood kind of in that threshold, sorry, on that threshold, climbing out of this Undercroft. How do you emerge next?
00:32:34
Speaker
I guess Tharuk and um Seth were the first through, and I guess... It's from Seth's perspective, you take that in and then kind of look back to the group and show us to their next actions, but maybe start moving forward slightly just to scout out, sensing if there's any danger around and about to warn the group before they move forward. So you kind of will follow climb out of this debris, push yourself out of that this dust cloud, and you'll find yourself within this vast city, a city like...
00:33:08
Speaker
ah any capital kingdom you visited before in terms of its um kind of volume and density. But there is this kind of ethereal glow to everything. Everything just kind of has this ghostly wisp ah kind of accent to every structure, to every sewer grate, to every kind of cart, to every propped barrel and box and crate.
00:33:38
Speaker
to every stepping stone, every kind of change of elevation in this this city square, it just wisps in this ghostly-like presence. You continue to hear that tone, but there that there is no weather here. It is just blanket grey. The sky is just a grey sheet.
00:33:57
Speaker
There is no wind. It's quite cold.
00:34:04
Speaker
The air feels dry.
00:34:07
Speaker
You attempt to maybe kind of communicate and your voice just carries as though you're in the undercroft you were just in.
00:34:19
Speaker
And there is no movement, no life, no activity. With no wind, the dust just kind of floats. It doesn't kind of have a purpose or a direction to be moved to.

Confronting Fear: Chandra Lekar Revealed

00:34:34
Speaker
You kind of step out of the architecture of this church onto firm stone and you can see alleys to your north, alleys to your south. Great road headed west.
00:34:49
Speaker
And then a road that kind of wraps around this temple as well.
00:35:03
Speaker
Well, that's fucking something.
00:35:08
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, it is. Where the fuck are we?
00:35:16
Speaker
a Uh, good question. ah Does Seth recognize this? No, it just looks like generic massive city to your eyes.
00:35:28
Speaker
there's no The architecture bears no resemblance to the many kingdoms you visited. this You have not been here before. ah And certainly there's kind of iconography of of and kind of political houses, of of monarchs, of of trades, of um of gods and and temples that just isn't in your register. these and This is not kind of... You've seen lots of Eryth. You'd expect some familiarity somewhere. You know none of these cultural references.
00:35:58
Speaker
Farrock's going to shout, Alpha, we need you. Very well. And cautiously, Alpha's kind of been stood to the side at the moment. He didn't want to be in line of sight at the door.
00:36:12
Speaker
Shondralikar still kind of scares him a bit. um So cautiously approaching. What are we looking Do you remember when we were on the ground? Well, when we were on the ground, that bard, Karshtan, said something to Drago about a ghost shitty...
00:36:27
Speaker
Do you recognize any of those gods? Do i
00:36:34
Speaker
like um Make make a perception check.
00:36:40
Speaker
You said the city was
00:36:48
Speaker
Nothing in this vicinity that has any cultural register for you.
00:36:55
Speaker
Alpha's going quick glance over, searching the memory, which has been shit anyway. um No, I do not recognize anything here.
00:37:08
Speaker
It is all new. no Nor will you, Robin says coming forwards. Those gods don't belong to your world. Do they belong to yours? Do you recognize these mysterious beings?
00:37:25
Speaker
I do. Yeah. Not only do I recognize the gods, I recognize this city brick for brick. This is never winter.
00:37:40
Speaker
I've not heard of such a place. It's from the Sword Coast. It's where myself and Drago, Ren, Syingar, Kala, Elphir, it's where we were all originally from.
00:37:54
Speaker
I don't know why it's here, though, but it's unmistakably Neverwinter.
00:38:02
Speaker
If you know the city, do you... Do you know of... Do you know of the Cronomancer, then? Is he big in your cities and your... wherever the fuck you're from?
00:38:18
Speaker
As you say that, Robin's face turns to confusion and goes...
00:38:27
Speaker
The only things I've heard of the Cronin Manta are those that I've picked up in whispers from the Wing Watch.
00:38:35
Speaker
ah Very, very powerful magic users, mages. Is there like ah an arcane emporium, a mage tower, a kind of ah flamboyant fucking we're better than you part of the city that you think all important powerful people would be? yeah If you know the city, surely you you could point us in that direction. We could go there.
00:38:58
Speaker
There's the Lyceum. There's the old crypts.
00:39:04
Speaker
They were the first destroyed on my world, but well, the entire city seems to have followed suit here.
00:39:12
Speaker
The only thing that I thought linked this world to the one that I left, that we left, was the Blight.
00:39:24
Speaker
Any links between this and Chronomancy
00:39:28
Speaker
Well, that's new to me as well.
00:39:32
Speaker
Right. Shit. Well, keep your eyes to the sky still. If Shandrala Carr's here somewhere, the bitch is crafty. She'll be perhaps even under the floors if not in the sky. So just have your wits about you.
00:39:47
Speaker
Okay. Without the moment you see it. I'm all for this. But also, can someone explain to me what the fuck's going on? Like, we just teleported up here. Are we in a dreamscape? Does anyone like you say, and Nix is pointing to Robin, that we're in a place called Neverwinter and that you know this place, but also you don't know why it's destroyed. Or do you know why it's destroyed?
00:40:07
Speaker
Do you know why we're here? I'm really confused. No one hears Nyx. Everyone sees Nyx moving his mouth and gesticulating and waving around.
00:40:18
Speaker
No one hears a single thing Nyx just said. Nyx, you don't know that no one heard you. But you ah you know you know unlike you're not going to get a response because they they're just looking at you, waving your hands around.
00:40:33
Speaker
Nyx, Nyx, you're mute. nick Nobody hears Seth. Nobody hears Seth. Seth just starts... gesticulating back. Seth, I can't hear you, mate. You need to actually move that mouth of yours for me to be able to hear you.
00:40:47
Speaker
Speak up. I can't hear you when he was talking so quietly. Okay, I can see your mouth moving, but I can't hear anything that you're saying. Anyone else hear what Seth is saying? Can I see Nick's kind of mouthing these things?
00:40:59
Speaker
Yeah. Cool. I'm just going to hold my hands up, point a finger through a hole, make me generic for sex, and then point to my brain... oh Oh, okay.
00:41:11
Speaker
hear you. And Nyx will awaken mind, beam his messages into Barl's head. ah Hi. Something you want to say?
00:41:25
Speaker
Can I hear him speaking? You can hear him your mind. Okay. okay Nyx, you're speaking, but I can't hear that you're speaking. I can i can see your mouth moving. I can't hear a word of you. are you okay?
00:41:37
Speaker
Something happened to you? No, i'm for I'm fine. You can't hear me? Can you hear Seth? No, not at all. Looks like he's miming. Is he miming something to you? Oh, i well, he looked like he was talking to me and I couldn't hear him. Oh, fuck. I have an impression that you're going to have to fuck everyone's mind here, Nyx.
00:41:55
Speaker
Just bag it before you do it, please. just all Everyone who isn't, these two, make perception checks for me and take your passive if it's higher.
00:42:17
Speaker
Seth will take his passive and that is 10. And Sayangar?
00:42:29
Speaker
His is 11. eleven Okay, thank you. um Robin?
00:42:39
Speaker
Robin is an 18 on passive. Tharok? Tharok is a 15 on passive. I rolled a two for both. Alpha. Alpha is a 21 on the roll. Okay.
00:42:53
Speaker
Everyone except Alpha is kind of distracted by this miming performance that's happening between Nix and Seth. Alpha, you just notice after confirming that there is no meteorological activity here, there is no weather, there is no sky.
00:43:12
Speaker
So why would there be a cloud?
00:43:16
Speaker
Why is this small kind of area around you now in a light shadow?
00:43:24
Speaker
And as you likely look up,
00:43:33
Speaker
descended in that envelope of silence, 20 feet above your party,
00:43:45
Speaker
is the colossal figure of Shondra LaCarre.
00:43:50
Speaker
Oh, And like a sonic boom, sound returns with a crash. And I need all of you to make, please, a wisdom saving throw.
00:44:03
Speaker
What? I don't want to do this. Heroes Feast gives us advantage, is that right, on wisdom saves? think Is that part of the... think so. We'll call the Feast Preparer to see if you can let us know. Beep, boop, boop, boop.
00:44:15
Speaker
um No. It's resistance to poison, immunity to frightened poison and poison. If this is if it's about frightened, you're immune to it. But if it's anything else, it's not.
00:44:26
Speaker
Bullshit. What kind of fucking Heroes Feast is that? I still don't get the benefits from Heroes Feast anyway. I don't eat. Yeah, eat shit. Is it the 2014 one that's wisdom then?
00:44:38
Speaker
I swear it used to be. Not that it matters. Ignore it. Fuck it.
00:44:44
Speaker
Um, okay. Hopefully you all rolled wisdom saves. I'm gonna start with...
00:45:00
Speaker
Sanga. and He got a nine. Okay, you failed. 19. You passed. nineteen you've passed um Bal. 23. You've passed Nix. 14. You've passed who ah Robin.
00:45:22
Speaker
15. You've failed. Ren has I will then Indomitable to re-roll it with a plus 16 bonus.
00:45:37
Speaker
Hell yeah. Now it's a 27. Okay, you've passed... ah Alpha. Swagger. I got a three. You got a

Drago and Karstan's Side Quest

00:45:46
Speaker
three. Okay. um far out You die.
00:45:51
Speaker
that Tharok, sorry? Tharok was 16. Okay, Tharok passes anyway. This is, everyone who partook in the feast yesterday, you are immune to this as this is an attempt to invoke frighten amongst all of you, um which means that Sayangar, you are frightened. Alpha, you didn't eat the feast. You are frightened. And that is it because Robin passed the save. ah Ren is also frightened for reference.
00:46:20
Speaker
So as this sound comes back, and it's kind of the sound is almost swallowed into the next breath of Shondralakar. And immediately inside those who have just been hit by frightened, kind of overwhelming sense of fright, you begin to prepare to flee in sheer fear. And as that happens, before I get you all to roll initiative, we're just going to pan very quickly.
00:46:45
Speaker
and didendend and Back to
00:46:49
Speaker
We find Drago and we find Karstan amongst the ruins of Goldport Keep. And it's been really important for the last 10 minutes that Drago focuses on a prayer.
00:47:05
Speaker
i and I would have kind of tried to stop before the 10 minutes to draggo bas Drago, that's all you're planning on doing for the next 10 minutes is saying a prayer a prayer to Akiba for your situation to kind of um note the souls that have left this place, et cetera. And you couldn't give two shits about the fact that your brother is in the sky and the the but the plan has changed.
00:47:27
Speaker
You believe this be more important. And as you begin that that process of having that prayer, Emron, what did you do? Sorry, Karstan, what did you do?
00:47:38
Speaker
Oh, God. Everyone does for call. Yep. and So, Karsthan sort of, Drago, Drago, Drago, where are we going, buddy? ah Teleport just just went. Drago?
00:47:50
Speaker
And he's sort of just like, just walking alongside him.
00:47:54
Speaker
The giver, if you can hear. Drago. Back in the room. Look after him, Ron. Try and communicate with him if possible.
00:48:05
Speaker
And I'm going to sort of like poke him. Drago. he's still there, get him to help. I give you my oath, my peace. Drago, prayer time was like a breakfast time. Like prayer time, the prayer time was breakfast time. Need to do this now.
00:48:19
Speaker
That's just me for 10 minutes. i'm I'm going to slap him around the face. Drago, wake up. Come on. Did that do anything? Am I awake? Uh...
00:48:34
Speaker
Akiva, I give you everything.
00:48:39
Speaker
will perform ritual for you. Tell me what to do. i am your humble servant.
00:48:49
Speaker
He doesn't do anything. If you will need me to dance these souls into the underworld, please let me know. Drago, come on. You need to to snap out of this, buddy.
00:49:01
Speaker
Um... if how any sort of How much longer can I stand here and give you of of of my full devotion? Is there a time?
00:49:13
Speaker
Can I get an impression that he's under a suggestion of something? Because I will stand here all day make ah if you command me to. Tell me what to do.
00:49:25
Speaker
Has it been two minutes that I've been showing you devotion? Maybe three. Technically, the spell works for up to eight hours, but the suggestion was send send a short prayer. That was 20.
00:49:37
Speaker
Yeah. he's He's charmed in some way. Okay. um i I cast Dispel Magic.
00:49:47
Speaker
Okay.
00:49:50
Speaker
I'm trying to remember the new rules for Dispel. It works. Do I know I'm charmed as well? You do know you're charmed whilst charmed. Fuck! The DC of 10 plus the spells level.
00:50:01
Speaker
If the spell is fourth. It's third or lower. No, it's fine. It's it's instantly removed. So you get about two minutes into this prayer and cast and you can just switch it off like a light switch.
00:50:15
Speaker
I give you... What the fuck was that?
00:50:23
Speaker
Now do I know that i've been charmed? Is Suggestion one those ones where you know you've been had to cast on you?
00:50:32
Speaker
I don't think it is because it's it's based upon you doing it's based on the idea of that you think that was a really good idea at the time. Yeah, you you don't know that you've been charmed. um Drago, what's that? I needed to show Akiva my faith.
00:50:48
Speaker
Could you have not have done that at breakfast time, maybe in battle? Because your brother's up there and the others are up there and the fuck? No, you're not wrong in anything that you said. i No, you were charmed. You were under a spell.
00:51:03
Speaker
ah Impossible. I can't get charmed. You were under a spell. You can't get charmed when you're raging, when you're angry, but I think you can get charmed now. No, I'm too powerful to get charmed at any time.
00:51:14
Speaker
I think you had a spell cast on you.
00:51:20
Speaker
by the dickhead. There's only one person that would do that. Yeah, exactly. The person who didn't want you up there.
00:51:28
Speaker
Fuck. Now, we've got to get up there. Yeah. I can fly, but don't know if i can make it that far. How far? How fast?
00:51:39
Speaker
Let me look up to the sky. How far up is it? It'd be a few hours. A few hours. Judging by my sight, it looks like a few hours. Let me just go into myself and remember how long I can fly for.
00:51:58
Speaker
I don't think it's for hours. I could teleport us up there. Or we could do that. You know, sometimes, Carson, you have the answer, you can give it straight away. You don't have to lead me by the hand. It's been long enough. Right. So the problem is we don't know the location.
00:52:14
Speaker
I do. So you need to describe it in an intricate detail about exactly where we're going. So I know where to teleport us. Okay.
00:52:27
Speaker
And then Drago will describe in detail the dreams that he had ah throughout this entire campaign with him, Emron and Baal.
00:52:40
Speaker
So you know, Karstan, the journey we take and where we get to before it cuts off. Because he never got the full dream, but he did get the destination.
00:52:52
Speaker
How long would you say it takes you to go through that? 10, 15 minutes? um Drago is one to the point. Won't label it. labor it So it's like...
00:53:06
Speaker
I fly, get up to the gates. It looks like this. Everyone was with me. Lots of clouds. Lots of metal.
00:53:16
Speaker
bullet point kind of explanation and because because cast i need details there'll be lots of counter questions i imagine so well if he if i feel like i'm not getting it i feel like i'm like okay okay okay i'm gonna stop you there okay um uh another plan another plan another plan okay um fuck don't have to do this it's gonna take time okay into my mind no no do you have anything of syangas on you and i can't peer your mind do you have anything of syangas on you we're not that kind of brothers
00:53:46
Speaker
No token. No, like that kind of thing. No, he has my amulet. Hmm. That might work.
00:53:59
Speaker
Um,
00:54:02
Speaker
No, it won't. and That's not how linked object works for this spell. um That might... So you have a description of the location so you could attempt teleportation. Still only gives us a one in four chance of getting there. It's a 25% chance.
00:54:20
Speaker
Either we're off target and we'd appear two D12 miles away or we're in a similar area or we miss that and blow up. Okay. Hang on, shit. Akiva. Akiva. um and drago is just going to go into himself and connect with his god his deity the guy who has teleported him across different fucking worlds end of the world you know how is we're here again on the precipice of do or die and as always i am here
00:54:52
Speaker
servicing your needs. I need your help. I need your power. Me and Karstan need to join that fight. You know what I'm talking about. You oversee everything. Let's fucking do this. One last time, me and you into the depths, into the gates of hell, not hell though, the sky.
00:55:16
Speaker
And that request He's granted. Let's fucking go so rings out. um and What's becoming a realization perhaps that you're coming around to is that
00:55:33
Speaker
you don't hear the static anymore that you hear when you're connected to him and you haven't felt heard it since the, the moment you gave your amulet to your brother.
00:55:57
Speaker
Garstain, there's got to be something we can do. Come on, you're all powerful. We've just... we've We've saved this world once. Okay, okay. um What we're going to do is... oh shit. I don't have to this. It's going to take 10 minutes and it's going to be all fucked because if they that's 10 minutes, they could be dying up there.
00:56:12
Speaker
Okay, i'm good i could I could try and look to where Syngar is using scrying and I can see the location. That will give me knowledge of location which will allow me to teleport. But that is 10 minutes. Okay.
00:56:25
Speaker
ah were that they were not involved okay well can't think of another way no okay okay
00:56:38
Speaker
and my description wasn't good enough yeah I mean, it's a one in four chance. So, you know, we've got a, got a, got a, there's a 50, there's, there's, you know, a big chance that we potentially die. um A small chance that we get to somewhere that's like that. Okay, scry, scry, scry, scry. Yeah, let me scry.
00:56:56
Speaker
Okey dokey.
00:56:59
Speaker
I am going to cast scry on wherever Syangar is, Danny.
00:57:09
Speaker
Ten minutes.
00:57:13
Speaker
Passes.
00:57:20
Speaker
I think Saigon needs to make a wisdom saving throw technically. He doesn't. The spell doesn't work. Oh.
00:57:32
Speaker
He's not on the same plane as existence.
00:57:37
Speaker
Okay.
00:57:40
Speaker
So it's 10 minutes of the description. That is 10 minutes of attempting to cast that spell plus two minutes of the prayer. It's 22 minutes behind where the party and the steel nightmare are.
00:57:59
Speaker
And that's where we're going to end this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, Bellum Draconis. Oh God. but We're all dead. Ruh-roh. Ruh-roh. Ruh-roh.
00:58:11
Speaker
we We're in trouble. So join us next week, guys, because you'll want to know what's happening. We're all going to die. For the finale ah We are the Fellowship at the Tabletop.
00:58:29
Speaker
And thank you for tuning in and listening, making this party every week. We will see you next week.
