Introduction and Mission

Speaker
Hi y'all, I'm Steve Graff. And I'm Kelly Graff. And we're with Stana Barkinsaw. We are going down the voter sky, telling you who our recommendations are for each one of the positions on your ballot. And it's based on the people we know. And we're not going to give you information that we don't know.

Endorsement of Dr. Judy Harrison

Speaker
AP District 6 in Clark County. This is another personal friend of ours, Dr. Judy Harrison, and I always call her Dr. Harrison, but Judy, because every time we talk to her, she says, Steve, please call me Judy, because that's who she is. She wants to connect with you, who you are, and she doesn't want you to think I'm like this Dean of the Teachers College, who she was. She taught our teachers. Right. She is just an an amazing human.
00:00:42
Speaker
She has gotten out there, really done good work. And y'all, we have a lot of good JP's and like Michael, inkton and does that run so important in Clark County is just loaded up with some incredible people, the JP district.

Judy Harrison's Contributions to Public Education

00:00:57
Speaker
We're going to talk specifically about why that's important and why she specifically is going to be important because she fights for public education.
00:01:04
Speaker
And if you're not in Judy's district, still look at your JP's. Do a little bit of research before Tuesday because that role is critical. Not just right now, but going forward, JP six in Clark County, Judy Harrison, Dr. Judy Harrison is our choice.
00:01:23
Speaker
This is somebody we've worked with for a couple of years. She led the referendum effort, not just in Clark County. When we were working with the CAPES initiative to get the Learn initiative on the ballot, they pushed this legislation through overnight under the veil of darkness. It had 27 different facets, 144 pages. Nobody knew it was. They didn't know how to fund it.
00:01:45
Speaker
And we tried to just say, slow it down and put it to the vote of the people. She was one of the leaders of that and she led Clark County. Clark County hit their numbers almost faster than anybody, but then she shifted over and helped us get the numbers. Where can I go next? What can I do now?

Community Engagement Efforts

Speaker
like The thing I love about Judy is that she didn't wait on somebody to hand her a handbook and say, here's how you need to go do this, Judy.
00:02:11
Speaker
She made her own handbook and she created this force of people in Clark County that just got activated and ah we were down there. She invited us down to their after get together from this past. I thank you to the volunteer. yes She bought the cake. I'm sure I don't even know how much of her own personal money that she spent to support her volunteer force, but It was so cool to see her there with this group of people, and she is the leader. She is the leader of this community. She's such a heart. I really wanted her to run for House of Representatives. I drove to Arcadelphia and met with her at the Wendy's to try to talk her into. I got on my knees, begged, please run for a state house. She would be great.
00:02:59
Speaker
But her heart was right there in our heart was in like the work that they're doing there and the difference that they're making in our hearts with the college kids. And that really is who this representative is because they're representing two

campuses. I went to school there. What they do is around those campuses and nobody knows that better than Judy. Right. So, y'all, we want to make sure that you get out and think about who's on the ballot from the top to the bottom. Do a little bit of research. Find out who aligns with your values. I'll tell you that Judy Harrison aligns with our values. She is a public education advocate. She believes in women's rights. She believes in direct democracy and she does the work. I actually had the the privilege to hear her speak about a year and a half ago in hot Springs. She's one of the leaders against gun violence.
00:03:52
Speaker
I loved her message because she started out saying, hey, first of all, I hunt. I have guns. My husband hunts. He has guns. I am not the person here saying I want to take your guns away. But I do think that there are some common sense things that we need to think about around guns and she gets it. She's an educator, the teacher, and she sees that side of it and the way she presented it.
00:04:16
Speaker
I was a big fan. I fell in love with her and the way she communicates, she's the nicest and the person you want in your corner.

00:04:32
