Speaker: This is a Muck Stain Productions Podcast.

Speaker: Hello homies and trainers and welcome to Unknown Radio, your mug stain production Pokemon talk show where we take a peek at every Pokemon, every single one. I'm Claudia and I'm here with my co host Catherine. I'm Catherine. I'll bring the pizzazz and Claudia has the facts. That's so gonna be a tagline. I love that. Facts and pizzazz. Facts with a dream team.

Speaker: been the dream team since age what, 12? We've been the dream team since 07. Oh, we're gonna be coming up on our 10 year, 20 year anniversary. Oh my god, we should have a photo sheet. A Pokemon themed photo sheet. Oh my god. Beautiful content, which if we're still alive in, how many years is that? If we're still alive in four years.

Speaker: This is helpful. That'll go straight up on the Gram that you can find at Unknown Radio on the Gram, on the Instagram. And then the kids call it the Gram. No, they don't. I think. Do they not? No. I work with kids. What do you call it? The Insta? Yeah. All right. Well, I'm going to call it the Gram. All right. You know what? Just a millennial will try my best. I work with teenagers. I love so much.

Speaker: You know all of the latest phrases. That's why you have the pizzazz. Exactly. You're more relatable to the Gen Z. Alright, ready to hit our next guy? Not literally hit him, but... Maybe we will. We'll find out at the end.

Speaker: All right, we now we have number two, Ivosaur. And do you know what his little tagline is? I know nothing about Ivosaur. And I know why I know nothing about Ivosaur because I never pick Bulbasaur. Ivosaur is unknown to me. So hit me, hit me with the facts. All right, Ivosaur is known also as the seed Pokemon, which is stupid because he no longer has a seed on his back. So why is he the seed Pokemon? I don't know.

Speaker: because someone at Nintendo decided that he was also the seed Pokemon. Okay. And he's a grass poison type. Again,

Speaker: dual typing, pretty cool. And I am saying he because again, 87 .5 % of them are male, which is ridiculous. And a little factoid is he was actually the first of its evolution line to be created. So before Bulbasaur, before Venusaur, Ivosaur is actually the first one to be drawn up and created.

Speaker: That's kind of cool. Like working backwards and forwards from Ivor. I can see that. Yeah, it's smart. He doesn't look like kind of the awkward teenage stage that a lot of them end up looking like, but then also he doesn't look very different from Bulbasaur, to be fair. Yeah, he kind of looks, he's got that real, like,

Speaker: beast. He looks like he's been to the gym. He looks angrier. He's like Bulbasaur. He's not cute anymore. Now he's pissed. Yeah, like he's been through some shit. He's in his angsty teenage years. So what's his Pokemon look like? What does it look like? Yeah. Doesn't it just look like Bulbasaur but with a flower on it?

Speaker: Pretty much, yeah. Similar to Bulbasaur, he now has fangs that kind of hang outside of his mouth. His ears are darkened in the center, like they're actually ears now and not just protrusions. And then the bulb on its back is now turned into a bud, and then leaves coming out of it because he's a fancy boy. The most notable change is that that bulb

Speaker: again, started to bloom and it's got these like bright pink petals inside of the flower. And the shiny version, which is like the alternate color version that's very rare to get, it's yellow. And I think the yellow one is pretty cool. I want a yellow one. Yeah, it's like a light green color with a yellow bulb instead. Oh, that's so cute. Which is cool because the bulb was so shiny, didn't look any different, just slightly lighter. Yeah.

Speaker: So I like him. He's three foot tall and he weighs 28 .7 pounds. So he's grown but not a huge amount. It's not like hugely different. Right, he's grown a little bit and apparently the weight of the bulb, I'm assuming the bulb is most of that weight now, it stops his ability to stand on his hind legs.

Speaker: Oh, hang on. You're telling me this whole time Bulbasaur could stand on his hind legs? Yeah, if he wanted to. That's kind of funny. But now he can't. Now he can't.

Speaker: So as we talked before, Bulbasaur only lives one to three years, but the Ivosaur lives three to seven years. So I'm assuming that's like, after evolving from a Bulbasaur, they live significantly longer, I'm assuming, because they're just that little bit bigger. Yeah. I assume that it's still being, its life is still being leached from this flower on its back. Maybe more so, because now it's got

Speaker: petals and a flower, and I'm assuming it needs pollinating? Unless no, because it's not blooming yet. No, because pollination, that only happens so that the flower can make seeds to make more flowers. So it's just a bulb. So it has no function, just aesthetics, is what we're saying. I think that really sums up the whole evolution, to be fair.

Speaker: The bigger but less functional is the Ivosaur. Its name is a combination of Ivy and Dinosaur, kind of like with the Bulbasaur. Again, it's weird because it's based on a frog, like the Bulbasaur, but the flower on its back

Speaker: resembles, I need to pronounce this right, Rafalecia flower with some palm leaves. And do you have any idea what that flower is or does? Because this is very interesting. I don't, but I like to think it's like some poison flower. And it's gonna like blow on mine. You're pretty on the mark. Have you ever heard of the corpse flower? Yeah.

Speaker: So it's the scientific name for the corpse flower, which when it's not blooming, like the ibisaur is, is that very bright red color. When it blooms, it lets off kind of a scent that smells like rotting corpses, which attract a lot of insects and flies, but then keeps away predators in order for its pollination. So it literally smells like rotting flesh.

Speaker: That is kind of cool. So like it's really ready to just start fucking things up really. Which then makes sense now with the poison typing. He was saying that we didn't see how Bulbasaur was poisoned because he was so cute and wholesome. And now it makes sense because he's got a corpse flower on his back. And it was supposed to smell very very bad. Also interesting that it's the corpse flower when we were saying that it leeches the life out of Bulbasaur and basically kills a Bulbasaur.

Speaker: I didn't even think about that. That's wild. That gives a whole new meaning to the term of rotting flesh, just the smell of rotting Bulbasaur. Oh, gross. That's so grim. Oh, that smell like, like, you know, when you used to find like a dead frog in a pond. Yeah, just like that, I'm assuming. Yeah. That's not what you want.

Speaker: Well, it goes, it's very interesting knowing that about the corpse flower. So I looked a little bit into the behavior of Ivosaur and it says that much like the Bulbasaur, they need to spend a lot of time laying around and sunbathing because it's vital that the bulbs on their back receive ample sunlight so they can photosynthesize and develop. But then it goes on to say as the bulbs grow larger, Ivosaur become more powerful

Speaker: when they're preparing to evolve again, they will spend more time sunbathing and their bulbs will begin to emit a sweet aroma. So though the core is based on a corpse flower that's supposed to smell awful, it's supposed to smell sweet in the Pokemon universe because why not? I suppose they've got to make it look, they've got to make it nice otherwise no one's gonna want to bulb us all hanging around. Just gonna smell like watching the corpse death. Yeah, magic carrying one of those around.

Speaker: You'd make no friends. It's my promises, my Bulbasaur, it's not me, I had a shower. Did you, though? Honest. I don't keep dead bodies in my apartment, I promise. Yeah, there'd be so many. The police would be so busy, you know. There's a funny smell coming from our apartment. Yeah, I've just got an Ivosaur. All right. Look, I can't help it.

Speaker: I'm sorry, it's getting ready to evolve. It's starting to smell. I can't help it. Poor guy. I just imagine, I did see a meme about Ivasaur of him sitting in a class and he was just tooting out of his, like letting out little farts out of his little bulb that smelled like rotting flesh. And then all the other kids are making fun of him for making bulb farts. And I am a child. I am a child, so I found it funny.

Speaker: Yeah, no, I'd probably find it funny too, but also I would feel a bit bad for him because he can't help it. It's like a medical diagnosis, right? Right. He's just growing into a big strong boy and he's going to make corpsey farts. He can't help it. And then when he's big and strong, he'll just, you know, he'll be like, nah, I'm going to bat, you know? I'll just sit on you and you'll regret ever being mean to me for farting out of my bud.

Speaker: I'm farting now, but I'm fighting later. Farting now, fighting later. Ivosaur, the seed Pokémon. Right, new tagline. Sorted. Let's email Nintendo. Let's get this sorted, right? Yeah, petition to change it from the seed Pokémon to farting now, fighting later. And I have another little factoid about the Ivosaur.

Speaker: Which again is fun because we said that we never picked Bulbasaur, but he has two types, which makes him cool, and then Venusaur has perfect stats. Ivasaur has never been seen to lose a battle in the animated show or any of the movies. Oh damn. So he is a big boy. Yeah, even Pikachu's lost a bunch of battles, but not Ivasaur. He's undefeated. I mean, Pikachu is overrated, but that's a discussion for another day. I am partial to a Pikachu.

Speaker: I don't get me wrong, I love him. But is he the best electric Pokémon there is? No. Again, conversation for another time. We're getting off track. Iversaur. That's impressive. Maybe we've messed up all these years. Should have gone with Bulbasaur, but then that would have been picking the easy mode. And I ain't no bitch. I - Shh. Fax, mate. You're just pumping them all out today. I don't pick Bulbasaur because I hate no bitch.

Speaker: I'll whack my Game Boy Advance SP out later. I've still got red Pokémon in there. Give that a go. You know what? That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I could try a run with Bulbasaur for the first time in my life. Yeah. It's never too late.

Speaker: to go back and try something new. You're never too old. I'll give us, like, until we get just past, I don't know, Brock. And we'll be like, no, I'm done. He's shit. Like, I've swapped him out. That was a fun novelty that's put you into my computer and never talked to you again. I'm just glad I got picked. Nice one, Bulbasaur. Me too.

Speaker: Now go into the computer and live the rest of your three years in this computer and I'll never see you again. Yeah. I'm going to put you in box one though, because I still appreciate you, but not enough to have you in my party.

Speaker: Because they're pretty rare -ish. I mean, you can only get one in the game, so they're pretty rare. It's a showstopper, but not a practical kid. And then especially, I feel like the middle evolutions, people sleep on them. Because getting the first one is fun. That's like, oh, it's my first Pokemon. And then it evolves. You're like, oh, that's cool. But then you don't care, because then you have a Venusaur.

Speaker: Yeah, you want the big boy. Right, he would just keep the middle one. I understand keeping the baby like you're in love with Charmander. Yeah. If you're in love with Charmander, you'd be like, yeah, I want to keep a Charmander forever. That's fine. But no one would do that with the middle ones. Why would you do that? Now you've got a fact, like I can't, I can't argue it. A fact's a fact.

Speaker: And there's way less information out there about any of the middle ones, which is quite depressing that no one cares. But I care about what I ever saw now. Do you though? No. Do you lie into it? Like, I care. No, you don't. I like it more than I did. Yeah. But, you know. It's not enough. You're cute, but you're not enough, you know.

Speaker: All right, let's move on to our question segment. If you were just hanging out and going on a walk through a forest and you saw an Ivor saw, what would you do? I'm not being funny, but a Pokemon's Pokemon. I'm taking him home because, again, he's pretty docile. He's just going to sunbathe and I'd have to send you a picture of it. Yeah, he's just I think he's just he's just happy to exist this guy. I don't feel like he does anything but sunbathe.

Speaker: He does look a bit more angry, admittedly. But I reckon you could tickle his chin. Just tickle his little chin and make him smile and then just take him home? Yeah, you know. You can get his 30 pounds, you can carry him. Yeah, I mean, what's that in actual weight, though? I'll... Don't worry. You got the Google? I'll translate your ways. It's heavier than my dog.

Speaker: I'll 13 kilograms. Yeah, that's pretty heavy. But it's doable. It's doable. I mean, it's gonna, as long as your car's not too far away, you know? And then just shove him in the trunk and take him home. Exactly. You know, I could do that. I think it's way less than my son. So yeah, I could definitely do that. Yeah, there you go. Just maybe not for long distances, but I'm sure you can make him walk. Just put a leash on him. Oh, yeah. I reckon I'd befriend him. Take him home with me.

Speaker: Just feed in the snacks, take him home, be like, there you go, you can just sit on the windowsill and sunbathe because that's all you ever want to do. Good for you, buddy. Especially if he's smelling nice and not like death. Yeah, that nice sweet aroma. Yeah, I could get on board with that. What kind of air freshener? He's like, yeah, he's like a reed diffuser and a pet all in one. That goes to Pokemon functions. What could this Pokemon be used for? Air freshener. Air freshener.

Speaker: And a support animal, you know? Once again, he's cute enough, I reckon. Take him to an old people's home whenever it starts to smell a bit bad in there because old people, he just lets out a little bulb fart. A little bulb fart, but a sweet bulb fart. Yeah, freshen up the creaky old people.

Speaker: freshen up the cabbage and whey. But that's so accurate. Yeah, so yeah, I reckon also, again, great on a farm. Yeah. Yeah, like an outdoor kind of guy. Use that sweet aroma to attract some insects and to pollinate all the flowers. That again, would he have a different flower in different countries? He's got it surely.

Speaker: I think so, at least like different colours or different leaves. It's weird that this one has them with that corpse flower with palm leaves. They don't go, but that's fine. You could have like change out the colours of the ball and then have different kinds of leaves. Like you can have some big dark leaves. Imagine, hear me out, if in England it was a little daffodil. Oh, that's adorable. Oh, and then Holland was a tulip.

Speaker: Aww! I love that. Yeah, that'd be cute. A little cactus Ivosaur as well. Yeah. Oh, with the little... Oh yeah, no, I'm here for it. Yeah, I definitely think this guy could have regional forms. I mean, it would have to, because we've decided it, and it would be cuter. You're listening, Nintendo. We demand regional Bulbasaur line. Yeah, but like, different countries imagine... Oh, so cute.

Speaker: What a cute little angry little man. What do you think he eats? I think probably the same as Bowlby. Just slightly bigger plants and bigger bugs. Yeah, he's got to be... He could chow down on a wheedle. Oh, easy. I reckon he could take a wheedle. And also a frog tongue. And a catapé as well. That's good eatings.

Speaker: Yeah, that is some good eatings to be fair. And again, photosynthesizes too. So I reckon he has like one meal a week or something. Yeah, kind of like those like Venus fire traps where they'll just, they will eat, you know, protein, but they get most of their nutrition from the sun. Yeah, exactly that. Yeah. So not even very many weedles would have to die to sustain this boy.

Speaker: but enough weedles. Yeah, because again, weedles. What's the point? Yeah, they're pests, aren't they? Yeah, it's like a bee drill. I don't think Ivosaur could take bee drill, but I reckon Vedasaur could. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Could we eat an Ivosaur? Again, I reckon we could, but would we want to? No. Could a vegetarian eat the bulb? I...

Speaker: I think a vegetarian could, but a vegan couldn't. Oh, that's an interesting argument. Yeah, because it's technically from an animal, but it's not meat. Yeah. So I reckon vegan, no. Vegetarian, yes. As long as I don't get to any of the parts that create that symbiotic entity, like the blood vessels and stuff.

Speaker: Just avoid those and you're golden. Good roughage. Good roughage. Especially those leaves. Those leaves look like they'd be nice in a salad. Oh, I think it could function without the leaves. So I wouldn't feel bad taking a part of an ibisaur leaf and eating that. But that's where all the photosynthesis happens. Oh, it'd grow back if you just take a little bit, right? Yeah, that's true, actually. Just take a leaf, make your little salad up. Then it will grow back, obviously. Yeah. So also a food sauce.

Speaker: Could the Bulbasaur eat its own leaves in a pinch? Ooh, interesting. I reckon so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's not gonna die, is it? If it eats a leaf. So it's got, what, three or four more of them? And it will grow more? Yeah. So it could just sustain itself. That's quite smart. That is, yeah, no, I like that. That's actually, might be one of the more clever Pokemons. Right, it didn't need no one. Completely self -sustainable. I'm a struggling, independent man, bitch.

Speaker: Alright, you walk into a bar and there's an Ivosaur, would you win? Yeah. You reckon? I reckon I could still take 30 kilograms. If I could still pick it up, I reckon I could still be in a fight. Just one of them? I'd give my hand at two. I said I'd take four Bulbasaurs. I reckon I could do two each. Yeah, punch one of them, kick the other one. Yeah, or use one of them as a bowling ball to take out the other.

Speaker: Just beat up what I ever saw with the body of the other I ever saw. Like an I ever saw shield. Like, you know, when you like, see on a film where they pick up their friend and swing them round. Like a body, uh, meat shield. Yeah, meat shield. But yeah, no, I reckon I could do that. What about you? Probably same. I wouldn't want to though, but in a pinch, probably.

Speaker: I've wrestled many a German Shepherd, and I can't imagine it being worse than wrestling on Ivorsoil, so. I reckon a German Shepherd would be harder. Yeah, they're more bitey. I don't think Ivorsoils, they have teeth, but I don't think they're biters. They'll just use that vine whip. And you could argue that they do learn Solar Beam, but how are they going to be getting solar energy inside of a bar?

Speaker: I really enjoyed the fact that the only good move you figured out that any of these can learn is Wine Whip and Solar Beam. They're the only ones that you keep putting down. It could do Solar Beam. Yeah, you've mentioned that. Because it's all it does. It's got nothing else good. I don't use them. I don't know their moves. Leech Seed? I don't know. Poison? Tail Whip. Oh, fucking Tail Whip. Tackle.

Speaker: Every Pokemon knows tackle. Headbutt? It could definitely headbutt, yeah. I think it does do a headbutt, yeah. Maybe a scratch. It's got a shape in its head. It's got a big bulbous... get it? Bulbous? Bulbous. Fuck's sake.

Speaker: On that, we'll close out with Ivarso with it in his bulbous head. What do you think of Ivarso now? Do you like him more? Do you like him less? I like him more. I feel like he's got more uses. Still wouldn't choose him as a starter. Still lame but a good boy.

Speaker: Yeah, good, but not good enough. You know, you are the weakest link because you're the middle child. If no one likes the middle kids. Well, I'm excited about our next one because we have Ivosaur and Ivosaur is, sorry, Venusaur and Venusaur is pretty sick. I'm excited to learn that Venusaur is sick because at the moment I think he's probably shit. He's also going to be the first one we're going to be talking about that has multiple forms. So that's going to be fun for us.

Speaker: Okay. I'm excited. I'm excited. All right. Thank you so much for listening, home slices, and we will catch you on the flip side. I'm not saying cheerio again. I made the best. I messed it up last week. Okay. I'll find a new tagline for next week, I promise. Okay. Bye.
