Introduction & Match Preview

Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to the Daily Liverpool Podcast brought to you by the Global Sports Podcast Network. I'm Jesse Sawa. I am joined today by Adash Ramchand and Connor Norcott. In today's episode, we'll be looking ahead to Sunday's Premier League game against Wolves.
00:00:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's a two PM kickoff UK time which is nine AM m Eastern Standard Time and the Reds go into that game. Seven points clear at the top of the Premier League after Wednesday night's 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.
00:00:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
So in part one, we'll be looking at that game on Sunday, looking at where this game will be won and lost. And in part two, we'll do a predicted lineup and a score prediction, um something I think I should possibly not be involved in after the last few results.

Reflecting on the Merseyside Derby

00:01:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Hope you're well, guys. Adash, we're recording this on a Thursday. Merseyside Derby, still very much fresh in our minds.
00:01:07
Adarsh
yeah.
00:01:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, in the cold light of day, is that one point gained now as opposed to the two points dropped that it really did feel like ah last night?
00:01:22
Adarsh
yeah i think i think it is i'll actually speak to my dad about this this morning um you know i woke up this morning completely forgot about the game and then my dad goes yeah i still can't believe last night and i was like yeah you just brought back all of the emotions last night but um no i think yeah
00:01:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, it's you know, it's a really serious game when the dads get involved, right?
00:01:40
Adarsh
when the dads get involved yeah when he's when he's trying to make me feel better to be fair he did make me feel better he's like we're still seven points clear we've got a lot to play for you'd rather be in our position than any other position and i think he he gave me that that that feeling and i feel like now going into wolves on the weekend like it's a game we all said this yesterday wolves is probably the perfect opponent at home you want you would want and a game that you can you know kind of rotate the team a bit, a bit freshness and you can get just get back on the road with the three points and that's obviously what we're hoping for on Sunday.
00:02:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Connor, your thoughts about the Everton result, you know you say is it is it a bad result? I mean, it obviously it feels like one, it feels like a defeat, but should we be looking at it a little bit more positively now?
00:02:28
Connor
I mean, I'm in such a tube minds here because I saw a tweet earlier today that said, you know, if this game was played when it was meant to and Liverpool were seven points clear, there wouldn't be any fume at all. We just be pretty confident. But for me, it's the content, you have to look at context like we were too on up.
00:02:47
Connor
it's the 98th minute they score they score an equalizer fan invasion manager sent off assistant manager sent off our best substitute sent off i think it's a it's actually a disgrace like i was furious and i think because last night you guys recorded and had your little group therapy session.

Controversies & Tactical Adjustments

00:03:06
Connor
Whereas, you know, switching the roles here, I was getting pelters from all my effort and supportive mates. Even my girlfriend, who who is a blue, mentioned that I just, I've not calmed down yet.
00:03:17
Connor
um So I need this game against wolves badly.
00:03:20
Adarsh
so
00:03:20
Connor
I really need it. Yeah.
00:03:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now I can see that um obviously the game was a really fiery one. As you mentioned, Curtis Jones has given a red card um for that confrontation with Everton's Abdullai Dukore. Arne Slott and his assistant both red carded at the end of the game, which meant that Liverpool couldn't even hold a press conference after the game last night because the Premier League rules. um But the apparent reason for Slop's red card was for an aggressive handshake. um I mean, I thought it might have been something that he had said, Adarsh, but an aggressive handshake. how How aggressive can that get?
00:04:01
Adarsh
I can't believe it. I mean, I saw you put the the clip for those that are listening. Jesse put the clip of Guardiola going up to, I think it was Michael Oliver after we beat them 3-1 Anfield and saying like just basically did probably even worse, a more aggressive handshake than that and no repercussions for him.
00:04:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
oh
00:04:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
well
00:04:19
Adarsh
um I don't get it.
00:04:21
Adarsh
I think it's it' nonsense. I think he I said this yesterday at on the podcast, Michael Oliver lost control of the game. I mean, how can you be sending off to assist well a manager and assistant manager i don't know but i think he just yeah lost the plot and it obviously affects us now because going into walls i think heitinger is going to be taking the team out
00:04:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's like love.

League Pressure & Opponent Analysis

00:04:39
Adarsh
he'll be on the dugout um yeah i'm not i i don't think it will affect us too much so i'm i i think like slot will give the instructions pre-match and things will be fine but it's just it's not ideal is it
00:04:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:04:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, I mean, you mentioned it not affecting us. Obviously, Curtis Jones is suspended um for this game. So he's he's not available. But in terms of Arnie's slot, um Connor, he's a manager that's very technical, very involved in the detail of the game and You know, his in-game management has been a real feature for us this season. So, you know, is, is this a, is this a serious blow for us or as Adash mentioned, you know, these days they're all wired up. I suppose he'll be getting his kind of, um, instructions from slot on the touchline.
00:05:31
Connor
I think it's one of those where the ramifications will only become really clear after full time against wolves because kind of like how we mentioned on the preview to the Derby Jesse where, you know, we could say, Oh, is this the kind of game that slots calm, cool, collected vibe would really help turned out the guy absolutely lost it. And I, you know what? So did I, like, I, I was like, I i keep mentioning it. I'm just shocked. It was horrible. I hated that game so much. Um,
00:06:02
Connor
So I think we will miss him. we just Even if you look at the the equalizer last night, it comes from an incredible piece of play from Curtis Jones, really quick to the ball, really well done by Nuna as well. Both of those guys came off the bench three minutes before. so like his in-game changes are really important and I know we can make those from up there and you could even argue from higher up you might be able to see the game a bit more um but I just I'm reluctant to spin it into a it's okay until after until after the wolves game you know
00:06:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, look, so we've we've got that past that first fixture in this, you know, five games games in 15 days schedule.
00:06:42
Adarsh
That's fine.
00:06:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Seven points is the gap. No more games in hand. um Yeah, but the way that the schedule the fixtures are scheduled um I think it can really crank up the pressure for either Liverpool or Arsenal on any on any given week. This weekend it's Arsenal who play first um on Saturday against Leicester, which you think that's three points in the bag.
00:07:07
Connor
Mm hmm.
00:07:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
for the Gunners, it must be. um They win that game, it means the lead is cut to just four points. And that really puts pressure now on Liverpool for that game um on Sunday.
00:07:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, Arsenal have had a mixed week. um They've lost Havert's to injury. um Looks like his season is over. And they must have been celebrating that Everton equaliser.
00:07:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So, Adash, what kind of mood do you think, you know, surrounds the Emirates now, right? Seven point gap, but no Havertz, no recognised striker.
00:07:42
Adarsh
yeah i mean
00:07:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
and And a chance to go four points ah behind Liverpool at the weekend.
00:07:48
Adarsh
I feel like it's just the topsy-turvy nature of this season, because I feel like a few weeks ago, Arsenal fans were calling it a day like this their season's over. They were out of the cup. They were out of the FA Cup. And it just shows how quickly things can change in football. Like you said, a win on Saturday, and they go four points behind us. And if you're looking at their fixtures, I think they've Yeah, got forest away in a few weeks' time as well. I Maybe mean. that's a difficult game, but they don't have too many difficult games left.
00:08:13
Adarsh
um that five games in 15 days. This period of the season for Liverpool is crucial. I think we were saying it yesterday. We go from having a game in hand to have played a game more when we play Villa. um I think that Villa game is massive. I think that I don't want to put pressure on it, but that because if we don't get a result at Villa,
00:08:32
Adarsh
how, if you don't get a result of Villa, I don't know what what to do. I'll be a bit panicky. um So I think, yeah, it's just it's just so so confusing. I think Arsenal will kind of, I think they'll feel a bit more relaxed in their position. They'll probably be like, okay, look, there's still a long way to go. We're not out of this yet. um I think we knew as Liverpool fans, there's still a long way to go as well. so Yeah, i one week you're feeling on top of the world, and then the next week you're you're down under. And it's just, I think the season's just, there's still more twists and turns to come.
00:09:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. And look, I think we've said this on the podcast on more than one occasion that the title race is no ways over. I think anything less than double, a double digit lead. I think they're just too many games um to play. And as as we've mentioned, you know, this kind of stretch of five fixtures in 15 days. I mean, what a swing that can ah create either way in a liver, Liverpool can either run away with it.
00:09:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
or Arsenal ah ah are absolutely back in it, neck and neck, or maybe even ahead.

Liverpool's Tactical Considerations

00:09:38
Connor
Mm.
00:09:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's talk about Wolves. They're managed now by ah Vitor Pereira, who took over from um you know the next Pep Guardiola, Larry O'Neill.
00:09:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
um They sit 17th in the Premier League on 19 points, just two points above Leicester and eight points behind 16th place West Ham. So they are right in the thick of a relegation battle.
00:10:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
And their form guide from the last six games um reads as follows. um One-one, drawn one, lost four. Scoring five and conceding 12. Now those stats, Connor, point to a Liverpool win. um yeah But do Wolves pose any kind of threat to this Liverpool team? Do they look at that maybe, that Derby game in midweek?
00:10:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
maybe learn from that and think you know that's a similar way that we've got to play or do they not have the players or the game plan to do that?
00:10:38
Connor
I think they do. I think there's enough physicality now in that Wolves team, maybe not so much in the centre of the park, although they've got some nice players there um to just really cause Liverpool issues. um But I do think they're the kind of team that capitulates. like you need You get and ah ah an early goal, maybe a two goal lead early on, and I think it's Liverpool's game. so We'll get to our predicted lineups and stuff a bit later on, but i have I've gone with certain players based on that because I think just get the game you know get the girl get the goals in early and then let's see what we can do with the game and try and see it hopefully a bit better than we did against Everton.
00:11:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
that's going to be so key. I think just making a really strong, positive start, because you can imagine, you know, if Liverpool go into this at halftime and it's nil, nil, it could it could become a very, very nervous second half, even though it is against wolves, just a the whole context of the weekend, the whole context of the title races has changed. Um, you know, assuming that Liverpool go into that game and Arsenal have already won.
00:11:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So how do you think Liverpool approached this game? Are they going to be a bit more front foot ah to try and get the goals in early at the first in the first half?
00:11:57
Adarsh
Yeah, I kind of agree. i think I don't think we have a choice. I think given how the context of the Everton game, I think there will be some strong words said. I think there will be a response. It kind of reminds me of a few weeks ago when we played Ipswich, if we can go in two, three goals ahead, get the game wrapped up early, that's that's the ideal situation I'm looking at. And I know we've been a bit of a second-half team this season.
00:12:20
Adarsh
slot making those changes in-game and those substitutions but I feel like for this game you need to put your marker down, get some goals early, make it more casual, not more casual but more comfortable for the team and I think that's he's got to approach that first half with some conviction. I think I would be a little bit, I wouldn't say worried if we're going into the halftime at 0-0 but you will start to see a bit of agitation um not just within the team but I think in the crowd as well so I think a very fast start is important. And I agree with Connor, you've got to get those big hitters firing, get the strong strongest lineup starting the game and rest and rotate. Because like like I said, we've got Villa in a few days in a few days time as well. So that's going to be important, that rotation.
00:13:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Their main threat has got to be Mateus Cunha, the Brazilian striker, 11 goals, four assists in 23 appearances. It's not bad for a team, you know, bearing in mind where they are. I think as a team, they've scored 34 goals this season.
00:13:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
well So he's basically scored a third of their goals and he it's been reported that there's a £60 million pounds release clause in his contract and both Spurs and Manchester United are reportedly interested for next season. Is he something that is he someone, Conor, that Liverpool should consider? do Do you see him as someone that could fit into this Liverpool team?
00:13:43
Connor
um i'm i'm I'm a bit unsure on on Mateus, couldn't you? Because I don't think I've seen him at a big enough club yet. ah I think if he were to get to the kind of level that Liverpool would be interested in, you'd kind of need to see him play at another club first, you know?
00:13:58
Connor
because I don't think he's, I don't think he's the finished article yet, but he has something.

Transfer Speculations & Lineup Changes

00:14:03
Connor
You know, we spoke about X Factor the other day, Jesse, and I think he certainly shows moments like that. What I like about him is that he can play up front, he can play as a second striker, he can play on the left, he can play a little bit on the right, he he just fits in across that whole front line. And I think that's maybe where Liverpool could could utilize someone like that a bit more. um And I'm really a bit iffy with some of our forward options at the minute anyway, so I don't know if Mateus Kunj is the answer, but he certainly might be more of a threat than some of the other guys we've got playing for Liverpool right now.
00:14:35
Connor
But you know what, I think they've also got, I really like that striker they brought in this season, Strand Larsen, the big fella.
00:14:37
Adarsh
Hmm.
00:14:42
Connor
I think he is he could be dangerous because you saw what you know the physicality of that that Darby what happened to Kanata and Van Dyke like they looked like they were in a game and normally Van Dyke doesn't and I thought he had one of his his poor games for us for quite a while now um so you know they could go with two up top kind of try and bully them because Kunya in behind Strand Larsen I think it's going to be pretty interesting but but there's something about Kunya that I just think like is he is he a big game player I don't know maybe I'm jinxing it now but what do you guys think
00:15:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think kuney I think he's a really, really good player. I really like him. But I think in terms of being a target for Liverpool, my my only concern would be that he seems to be a moments player. Like, you know, he'll he'll come out with some absolute kind of worldies when he scores. But I just think that Liverpool are at that stage now. We just need a prolific striker.
00:15:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
We need someone who's going to score 20-25 goals a season guaranteed, no matter what. And those can be worldies or they can just be like, you know, two-yard tap-ins. But we've we've we've got to, I think, move away from this.
00:15:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
kind of over reliance on the wide forwards. And where that central striker is more of a, you know, he's a he's a guy that kind of creates the space like for menio used to, for the likes of Salah and mani.
00:16:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I really do think that we need to, to go for someone who's a real prolific striker, I don't know whether Kunya actually fits that, um that description.
00:16:14
Connor
Mmh. Mmh.
00:16:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
But a a you know there there have been reports in the last week or so, that Liverpool are preparing a radical shake up of their front line ah with Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, even possibly Diogo Jota, all possibly up for sale. And you know the likes of Anthony Gordon, Alexander Izak lined up as potential ah replacement. I'm sure um Newcastle fans will love that.
00:16:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
But so you know what what do you think of those reports? Do you think there could be truth in that? And and do you think that a shake up in that forward line, much in the way that we shook up the midfield um lineup a season or so ago, do you think we need to look at that?
00:17:05
Adarsh
I think if you asked me a few weeks ago, I would be like, no chance. I think we probably still argue, you could probably probably still say that we've got the best attack in the league. But if you break down each individual player, you look at Luis Diaz, who's looks a bit lost in this little team at the moment, he's kind of his left wing position has been taken by Gackpo. And then when he's up front, he's not as effective. Nunez, I mean, need I say anymore, I feel like he's constantly it's either he's putting in a good performance but not scoring or he's just having an absolute howler jotters injury prone so if you take each of those as individual cases i think you could argue for each of them being moved on um i think two of the three will probably be moved on i think all three um but i do think there is a need for a bit of slots basically
00:17:53
Adarsh
trying to put his own stamp on the team and make his own changes and bring his own signings in because I think this still is a very much clocked team. I know he's brought in Kieza but he's hardly featured. I'd love to see who Slott wants to bring into this team, who he wants to make his own and is in this team. Salah has been incredible for him obviously but Sal's been incredible no matter what. So i think I do think there is going to be some question marks in the summer but then with those three out of contracts, how can you there's so many questions for this summer. I think it's a big... and I know we'll probably get onto it in the weeks to come but I think it's a big summer this summer coming up because there's the the contracts, there's players that probably aren't good enough for Liverpool
00:18:34
Adarsh
maybe some signings a lot of money that hasn't been spent in previous windows as well so i see i do see a shake up whether that's in the attack i'm not too sure yet
00:18:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think you're right. I think the summary is going to be a huge one. um And just because these so three contract situations are hanging over the club. And, you know, what could have been maybe two or three players in or out, it could be six. So it it could be a huge summer for Liverpool. But as you said, I'm sure we'll, um we'll talk about that more in the weeks to come.

Predicted Lineups for Wolves

00:19:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, we're going to go for a quick break. And when we come back, we'll do a predicted lineup and a score prediction.
00:19:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, welcome back. Let's get into some predictions. Let's start with the lineups. um I think we we can all safely say that Alison is going to remain in goal for these big Premier League fixtures that are coming up. I think the real question mark ah for me is going to be in those fallback areas. Connor Bradley, you know, he started, I thought, you know, I thought he started well. I thought he was very, very unlucky to be booked. Again, another, you know, ludicrous decision, I think, by the referee. um And, and to be fair, the linesman, because it's the linesman that flags ah to, you know, to alert the referee's attention for something that was just, it wasn't even a foul. It was just a coming together, there two players, but
00:20:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
In any case, I thought he, I thought he played reasonably well and then obviously Trent had to come on once it looked like Bradley might get sent off. So, Connor, how do you see that right back starting position? um Is he going to stick with Connor Bradley starting? Is Trent fit enough um to start now?
00:20:54
Connor
I think if Trent's fit enough, he plays um simply because we don't have enough leaders on the sidelines, so we need them on the pitch. And I think Conor Bradley has that kind of the kind of energy and like ah industrialism that you'd want in a game that is going to be maybe a little bit cagey maybe a little bit frenetic against wolves but i just think you know what Trent's been so reliable for so many years if he's fit but he plays you know and i think our fullbacks are kind of a bit of a there's lots of little question marks i think popping up the at the minute and i don't know why because
00:21:31
Connor
We're seven points clear. At the top of the table, we're in a cup final. We're through to the knockout to the Champions League. We won the Champions League group or league phase, I should say. On paper, everything should be great. But there's a few little things that are just kind of like, you know, I mean, there's a little asterisk or a little question mark for quite a few players. um I think Trent starts at the now. what What do you think, Adarsh?
00:21:54
Adarsh
Yeah, i I was going to say, I think from another point of view, the point that we kind of made in the in part one around taking the game to walls and kind of getting our noses in front, we need that creativity.
00:22:03
Connor
Mm.
00:22:04
Adarsh
I think i know Everton kind of set up to kind of nullify us, but we didn't really create that many chances. And if you've got Trent on the pitch from corners, from free kicks, and obviously from that right-hand side, I think he offers a threat.
00:22:14
Adarsh
So that's I'm actually looking at it from like a very much attacking point of view.
00:22:17
Connor
Mm hmm.
00:22:18
Adarsh
I think Trent needs to start. We need to get some chances rolled off early doors. and i think I'll definitely go for Trent, although but Bradley's been excellent. and I agree with Jesse, that yellow card. I mean, we we were discussing about it yesterday. It's just ludicrous. But I think he'll probably feature, come off the bench, but I'll definitely start Trent.
00:22:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and I think these kinds of games where you expect Liverpool to completely dominate possession, I think you've got to play Trent. I think the Merseyside Derby, I think even if Trent was fit, I think it was the right call to play Connor Bradley because, you know, just that kind of, you know, he's a blood and thunder player playing in a blood and thunder fixture. And so I think Connor Bradley was completely suited for the um the game against Everton. I think the real interesting one, though, is that the left back position and con Connor, I think As you mentioned, there are these kind of question marks over the fullbacks, but I think it's more on the left-back side.
00:23:13
Connor
Mm.
00:23:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think on the right-back side, I think the only question mark is, you know, who starts, you know, who's who's better for this game? Is it Trent, who is a world-class footballer? Or is it um Conor Bradley, who I think is going to develop into a world-class ah right-back?
00:23:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I think we're we're lopsided in that respect on the left hand side, where it looks like we had a world class left back in Andy Robertson. But this season has not been, it hasn't been a good one for him. And then it goes then to Costas Simicas, who I've always said, and I maintain that.
00:23:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
that he's a good player, but he is not a number one. Certainly not a, you know, a top four club. but Definitely not for a club that's fighting on all fronts or fighting to to win the Premier League and the Champions League. So bearing that mind that Robertson started on ah Wednesday night, is it just a case of rotation? And slot says, OK, Robertson started on Wednesday night. Simakash, you're starting on Sunday.
00:24:19
Connor
I have a feeling that that Robertson plays this game too. um Again, it's the leadership thing and I i don't think he was very good. i've not I've thought he's been pretty rubbish for quite a while actually.
00:24:31
Connor
um But there's something about him where I think, I know, apart sorry, sorry.
00:24:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
tell us we really think to tell us what you Tell us what you really think. really think.
00:24:37
Connor
There's something about him though where I think he has all these like Tiny little moments and I think oh my that's why you're in this team like you you do this so well And then he gives away like where are these stupid fouls coming from or he eat like what's he what's he doing?
00:24:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
The ball away, you kick the ball away into your books on Wednesday night, you know.
00:24:50
Adarsh
Yeah, the pressure.
00:24:51
Connor
Yeah And and Andy Robertson doesn't do that last year, you know And I know he's quite a tempestuous player and like he is that kind of needle that we need sometimes But I think when he used that side properly, it's such an asset for us But when he doesn't when he uses it in the wrong way I mean and who am I to say that he's using it in the wrong way, by the way Um, but I just, there's just something not right there.
00:25:13
Connor
And I think if Simakas was in any kind of in a form, he would play for me, but I just think, expect like, you know, the Plymouth game is cameo appearance yesterday. I just thought like, woof, this isn't, this is the player that needs a bit of confidence, you know?
00:25:23
Adarsh
yeah
00:25:26
Connor
Um, and he doesn't have that right now. So I'd i'd go with Robertson.
00:25:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Adash, what do you, I, I'm, I'm going for Simakas starting with an I2 Villa. Cause as you just said, the Villa game is, it has to be our harder game.
00:25:36
Connor
Hmm.
00:25:36
Adarsh
Yeah.
00:25:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's away. It's at Villa Park.
00:25:43
Adarsh
Yeah, I think.
00:25:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
I just think that Robertson's experience there, I think will be crucial. So I'm thinking that you start with Simakas hoping that that's enough to get past a team like Wolves.
00:25:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
But what do you think?
00:25:59
Adarsh
Yeah, I think I've actually planned this in the next few fixtures with the next few fixtures in mind. So I think Simicast should start against Wolves. You play Robertson against Villa and City and then against Newcastle, Simicast. But that could change. But that's what I had in my head. um it's It's annoying that Joe Gomez is injured because I actually think a short term solution at the end of the season as you play Joe Gomez left back.
00:26:21
Adarsh
um because we know last season, I think that the best period of the season was actually when he was playing at left-back and he could do a job there, gets forward. I know he hasn't scored yet, but he offers a threat. He's solid defensively. um That would be what I'll do, but obviously he's not injured. Well, he's injured and he's probably not going to, he's probably slot probably seasons more as a center back. So yeah, I'll probably start Simic has for this game, um but yeah, Connor's right. He's been lacking a bit of confidence and ultimately I don't think he is good enough for Liverpool at this moment in time.

Offensive Strategy & Score Predictions

00:26:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think we can we can safely say that Van Dijk and Canate will continue to start in the centre of defence. Are we going again for a ah similar midfield, Connor, with Gravenbert, McAllister, Sir Boslite?
00:27:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Obviously, Kurtz Jones is completely out of the equation now, in terms of his suspension, which really leaves
00:27:14
Connor
I I think given that you know how we all kind of discussed that I think Liverpool's best plan here is to just get early goals and make wolf capitulate you start your your main guys so the the midfield that started last night starts or started on Wednesday starts for me um but I do think Elliot comes on and I think we need to play minutes into it we need to play rhythm into Elliot he needs those minutes because I thought he was especially in the play with game
00:27:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Harvey Elliot. um Is this a game against Wolves? You know, where maybe you rest the Boslai or is he going to stick with um his first choice, ah midfield three?
00:27:54
Connor
like that that is the worst i've seen of Harvey Elliott and if that's his floor fair enough because he doesn't get that very he doesn't hit that very often um and i think he's the kind of player that would bounce back pretty he's got that kind of you know i' i'll show you a about him that i really like um so the midfield that started against everyone starts for me and as soon as you know if if we get to it where there's two three goal lead Elliott comes on for one of them i think maybe McAllister because I just think his class, especially in in the heat of that game against Everton, I thought he was phenomenal. um And we really need that against Villa because they're going to be really physical too. So again, many question marks because we can only really, we only really have Harvey Elliott in that midfield position. And then obviously we have Endo as well, but I'm not too sure. What what what do you guys think?
00:28:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I don't see past that midfield three. I think it's going to be in Macalester, Grumberg and Sir Pozle. Any thoughts on that, Adash? Are you in agreement with that?
00:28:56
Adarsh
Yeah, definitely in agreement. I think it was good. Well, I think Slott taking off Gravenberg. I don't know what minute it was during the game that he took off Gravenberg, but I think it was good he got a rest a little bit because he's been playing loads. um So I envisage changes being made during the game, but you definitely start that midfield free.
00:29:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
And it's the front three, again, where, you know, you've you've you've had you've had the most rotation because we've probably got the most depth in those areas. um ah darsh you know Again, I'm looking at Solan Gackpo starting and it's really just that central position which I think is up for gat grabs.
00:29:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Nunez Jota, I don't really see Diaz starting again um centrally but for for a home fixture.
00:29:38
Adarsh
yeah Yeah, I think such this is actually the toughest position to pick in the team, but I think I think I would go for Jota, but I think Slott would pick Nunez. That's what I think will happen. I think um we do need a bit of physicality so Nunez could come in, um whether he performs to the level that we want him to. That's another question, but I think for me jota needs to be getting rhythm in his game i think he's been too injury prone and he gets a little niggle and then he's out for a few weeks and i think he just needs that game time um this is a good game for him as well getting that confidence back getting back on the score sheet um because we all know when jota's fit and firing he's the best finisher at the club alongside teller so these are the games where you want him to start and you want him to make an impact and i think
00:30:28
Adarsh
It's kind of similar to ah what Connor was saying about Harvey Elliott giving him game time. I think Jotter's another player you need to give game time to. So that's why I would start Jotter, but I don't think Slot will do that.
00:30:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
I 100% agree. i'm I'm thinking that he should start with jotter for that reason that you need to get, he's your most reliable goal scorer. Um, and yes, Nunez. Okay. If he scores, that's great for his confidence, but even if he's confident, he's, he's not reliable. You don't you don't think, okay, he's going to get a goal against Villa or against city. Whereas I think if you get jotter up and running, then I think he's a big threat for those big games that are coming up against Villa against man city.
00:31:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Connor.
00:31:10
Connor
I completely agree. I think in the case of if we want these players to have minutes and they're going to be really impactful later down the line, for me I would start Jata because I think Nuna is fit, has been fit, is is pretty good off the bench too. I think he's he has that kind of like game changer thing about him. Not all of it is good but some of it is a fact effective and that and that really matters.
00:31:33
Connor
and I think if we're going to get Jota minutes, he's been fit for a little while. He capped in the side against Plymouth. not Not very well, I will say. But um he played the full 90, didn't he? Right? So he's good to go.
00:31:43
Adarsh
Yeah.
00:31:44
Connor
He starts with me. He starts with me. And against his former club, I think he he scored a few against them too. So he plays.
00:31:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
We shall see. let's Let's go for a score prediction. As I said, I'm going to sit this one ah out, guys. I think for the good of the club, I'm going to sit the prediction out.
00:31:57
Connor
No. No. OK.
00:32:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's been burnt badly the last couple of games. So Adash,
00:32:05
Adarsh
uh uh this is a tough one because it i think i want to my heart saying three nil but my head is saying two nil or two one i think it's i don't think it's a i don't think yeah i don't think it's a on paper this is the difference on paper it seems like a game we should be winning like we we should be winning and it should be winning comfortably but
00:32:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
You don't think it's a big one?
00:32:32
Adarsh
I don't know wolves are just they've got a bit of like a wildcard aspect to them sometimes because I mean the they beat Villa at home I know at home is different they beat Villa recently the bit United recently they can even the reverse fixture We haven't really spoken about that much, but they did cause us some problems as well So and they are a good they've got some players other than Konya. I think in midfield. They're quite strong. So I Think I would say I'm gonna be cautious. I'm gonna say 2-1
00:32:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
But in that reverse fiction, didn't they have managerial icon, Gary O'Neill?
00:32:58
Adarsh
Oh yeah, they did.
00:32:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that's fine.
00:33:00
Adarsh
They may not be the same.
00:33:00
Connor
you
00:33:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
So now that he's not there, I'm a bit more confident. What do you think, Connor?
00:33:06
Connor
I think... I hear that you're not picking Jesse. I think 3-1 Liverpool. I'm going to say 3-1 and I think it's a...
00:33:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
OK, let's get that going.
00:33:16
Connor
It's a three nil and then we can see it in like the 80th minute and see it out. And if you want predictions on scorers too, I don't have those for you.
00:33:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to say we're good.
00:33:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
um yet on um ah go
00:33:28
Connor
I think we see a goal from midfield. i'm i'm I'm expecting a Ryan Gravenburch masterclass here. So he deserves his goal. He's he's getting one and I think Salah gets his customary goal and the assist he gets too goes to Diogo Jota.
00:33:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to go for a 1-0.
00:33:44
Adarsh
Oh.
00:33:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, nervous 1-0. In the hope, in the hope that I am completely wrong again and we smash and fall.
00:33:51
Adarsh
I see, I see what you've done there. Okay, that's good.
00:33:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
A reverse cycle psychology, but so yeah.
00:33:53
Connor
Nice, nice, nice.
00:33:55
Adarsh
I think, I think Gackpo gets on the score sheet. I think he scored in his last seven home games.
00:33:58
Connor
Yeah.
00:33:59
Adarsh
So that's, that's my, I definitely think Gackpo gets on the score sheet.
00:33:59
Connor
yeah
00:34:03
