Introduction to Enneagram Type 7

00:00:11
KateLynn Bundy
Hey everyone, welcome back to Still You, the podcast where we dive into your personality like it's a bottomless brunch mimosa day. Yes, it's exciting, it's bubbly, and just a wee bit dangerous if you don't know when to stop, which is so me.
00:00:27
KateLynn Bundy
Or the espresso martinis. Am I right? Am I right? All right. Today we're talking about the Enneagram type seven, the enthusiast, the adventurer, the epicure, as I like to call them.
00:00:39
KateLynn Bundy
The human version of a group text that out of nowhere is planning the next girl's trip and actually gets it out of the group text. One of the very few things they actually know how to follow through on.
00:00:52
KateLynn Bundy
Zing. We'll be talking more about

The Joy and Chaos of Sevens

00:00:54
KateLynn Bundy
that later. Okay. I have so many sevens in my life and they have truly added so much joy and fun in my life. And everyone really does deserve a good seven in their inner circle.
00:01:07
KateLynn Bundy
But if you've ever said, i just don't want to miss out or planned a spontaneous trip to Italy during a bad day, congrats. You just might be ah seven. So, congrats.
00:01:18
KateLynn Bundy
Grab your bucket list, your emotional avoidance, because we're about to unpack the joy, the genius, and the absolute chaos of our type sevens. But first, you know the drill.
00:01:30
KateLynn Bundy
Please rate, review, recommend all the stuff. Subscribe, you know. but It's the easiest way to support this little hustle I got going on to quit the main gig because that shit, that's stressful.
00:01:45
KateLynn Bundy
I'd rather have this stress in my life, okay? I'm just trying to make my little corner of the world ah better place. So let's dive

Personal Connection to Type 7s

00:01:54
KateLynn Bundy
in. I'm so excited for this episode. I love, I mean, you're going to find out why Like I always have some sort of soft spot in my heart for each type in some special sort of way.
00:02:06
KateLynn Bundy
If you haven't noticed that yet, but sevens are just, God, they're on some other level or category. We vibe hardcore. And I, like I said, I have so many of them in my life and life without them really is just like, well,
00:02:22
KateLynn Bundy
But let's start with the

Fears and Desires of Sevens

00:02:24
KateLynn Bundy
basics here. Type 7s are driven by a deep, unconscious fear of being trapped in pain, boredom, or deprivation.
00:02:33
KateLynn Bundy
We really dove in there, didn't we? They car crave freedom, stimulation, and new experiences. So what is their core desire here? To be happy, satisfied, and happy.
00:02:48
KateLynn Bundy
fulfilled. But, big but, underneath that bubbly, let's go on an adventure type energy is a sneaky little fear that says, if I slow down, I might have to feel something uncomfortable.
00:03:04
KateLynn Bundy
They want life to be a buffet of possibilities. The more spinning plates, the better. They are the ultimate idea people, the brainstorm kings and queens, the what if we turned this into a business people? Let's go.

Creativity and Inspiration of Type 7s

00:03:20
KateLynn Bundy
and love that. And we love them for it, right? So sevens, They bring light wherever they go. They just make our lives just sparkle.
00:03:33
KateLynn Bundy
They're the people who convince a whole group to do the karaoke at 1 a.m. m and somehow everyone ends up crying and dying from laughter, doing it and loving it and never regretting it. Like you dragged us along. I kicked and screamed, but I know I'm going to love it.
00:03:52
KateLynn Bundy
But as I mentioned, um our sevens are the enthusiasts of the Enneagram because, well, duh, they're enthusiastic about almost everything that captures their attention.
00:04:04
KateLynn Bundy
They approach life with curiosity, optimism, and almost everything that captures their attention. They approach life with, oh, did I just repeat myself? And you know what I mean?
00:04:16
KateLynn Bundy
They just, they love ah sense of adventure. they They're literally like kids in a candy store. Yeah. Eyes wide, hearts ready for whatever sweet little experience that life offers to them next.
00:04:31
KateLynn Bundy
They're bold, they're vivacious and determined. to make life as colorful and as exciting as possible. See, like who doesn't want that in their life? We can't live without these guys, okay?
00:04:45
KateLynn Bundy
But sevens are our final type in the thinking triad.

Distinct Traits of Sevens

00:04:50
KateLynn Bundy
Again, if you need ah refresher on what what is a triad, i don't know what you're talking about.
00:04:56
KateLynn Bundy
Go back to episode two where we unpack what those are. So you know what we're we're talking about here. But um unlike the other head types, which is the fives and the sixes, the seven's mental energy doesn't always look like anxiety or analysis like the six or five.
00:05:14
KateLynn Bundy
Instead, it shows up as an electric hum of ideas, plans, possibilities, ideas. Their thinking here is anticipatory, always scanning their the horizon for what's next, what's fun, what's worth exploring, all of that.
00:05:30
KateLynn Bundy
They're not necessarily um intellect quote eric but in quote air ah intellectual in the academic sense, like type typical type five But they they are still really sharp, well-read, and wildly are articulate. Their brilliance here lies in connection.
00:05:51
KateLynn Bundy
They can jump from one idea to another, weaving concepts together faster than most people can take notes. So just get a recorder. That's the easier your way there. Okay.
00:06:03
KateLynn Bundy
They thrive on brainstorming, spontaneity, and the thrill of beginnings. For Sevens, the creative process is like ah roller coaster. It's the climb and that rush that they love.
00:06:18
KateLynn Bundy
the most. Not necessarily the finish line. We'll get to that. But in the workplace here, if you put a seven in the right spot strategically, they can thrive.
00:06:32
KateLynn Bundy
Need an idea, man? Creative spark? A big picture thinker? Get yourself a seven.

Work Environment and Challenges

00:06:39
KateLynn Bundy
They shine in innovative, fast-paced environments, especially, you know, if they're teamed up with folks like me, the eights, or threes, sixes, and ones who can ground their ideas and help them bring them to life, right? Although um one of the biggest things that a type 7 needs to learn in life is the art of follow through,
00:07:05
KateLynn Bundy
It doesn't have to be on everything. Not everyone finishes something they start, but sevens need to finish something.
00:07:13
KateLynn Bundy
Because when a seven learns to stick with a few of their brilliant ideas, the results really can be awesome. Okay? So I'm going to do full episode on um type all of our types in the workplace because that seems to be a little bit of a theme here that we're bringing up.
00:07:33
KateLynn Bundy
So stay tuned for that. But anyway, so for sevens, the irony here is that their endless curiosity and quick learning can sometimes trip them up a little bit because they can pick up new skills so easily, it's harder for them to choose where to focus. So when everything feels possible, commitment feels like confinement to them.
00:08:00
KateLynn Bundy
Side note, I always describe, ah I'm going off script here, type seven. I always describe type sevens as like a dog in a yard. Don't take that offensively. um Like if the yard, if the gate in the yard is closed, they're going to jump the fence.
00:08:16
KateLynn Bundy
But if the gate in the yard is open, they'll stay right where they need to be. Right. It's, that's just like ah an interesting like concept of how the sevens kind of operate.
00:08:27
KateLynn Bundy
But yeah. So when, again, when everything feels possible, commitment can feel i'm confining to them. So as a result, they don't always recognize the value of their talent. It's almost like they take them for granted, these gifts that they have.
00:08:43
KateLynn Bundy
because they didn't have to fight as hard to earn them. But when sevens find that balance, that same adaptability, curiosity, and mental energy can propel them toward incredible success and creative innovation.

Sevens' Approach to Life

00:08:59
KateLynn Bundy
Innovation? That's a new word. Innovation. My oldest brother is a type seven, and he was always like, Weirdly talented at like a lot of like easily talented at a lot of things like he played sports he was very athletic, and ah but he was also like a good drummer like he was musical as well.
00:09:17
KateLynn Bundy
And he's tried on a lot of different hats in his life. um So this is really speaking to him. And he's also married to a type one. I think I've brought this up before when I did the type one episode.
00:09:28
KateLynn Bundy
um That union is so funny to me. But um yeah, so if you have the best way to really learn the Enneagram here, again, we're off script, is to try to apply if you know there's people in your life who are ah dedicated type, like for sure they're a type whatever.
00:09:48
KateLynn Bundy
the best way to like really learn and remember the Enneagram. But anyway, sevens also remind me of what, you know how us millennials are, um we say the phrase, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. That reminds me of a seven because you're still, you're in your 30s.
00:10:09
KateLynn Bundy
You are grown up. But that reminds me of a type 7, not because they lack direction, but because they have tried almost everything. They use life like a buffet, sampling every dish to make sure they didn't miss out on something really tasty.
00:10:27
KateLynn Bundy
It's that that trial and error approach comes from their deep desire to experience it all, to find what truly brings them satisfaction and meaning.
00:10:40
KateLynn Bundy
And while they might substitute constant activity for genuine fulfillment along the way, what they're really chasing here beneath all the plans and the passions is that lasting sense of happiness, contentment, and inner freedom.
00:10:57
KateLynn Bundy
So that's kind of like our general core blueprints of our

Healthy Sevens and Balance

00:11:02
KateLynn Bundy
sevens. So let's go our next little segment, as you know, let's talk about the light side. Let's celebrate the joy first because sevens, they deserve a parade.
00:11:13
KateLynn Bundy
They want to be at the center of attention probably. i do. I like it. 99% of the time, I like being the center of attention. Hence the podcast. Solo podcast.
00:11:24
KateLynn Bundy
Anyway, so healthy sevens. Oh my God. are like walking sunshine. They see life through the lens of possibility. They remind the rest of us that joy just isn't allowed.
00:11:40
KateLynn Bundy
It's absolutely essential. Okay. They're spontaneous. They're like, even in their healthiest state, because when we talk about the shadow side, it's going to feel like as they, let's not jump ahead here. Okay.
00:11:56
KateLynn Bundy
Let's just stay on track. Okay. But sevens are spontaneous. They're imaginative, quick-witted, and endlessly curious. You gotta love it. Their minds are like popcorn machines.
00:12:08
KateLynn Bundy
but The ideas just keep popping, baby. One moment, they're brainstorming the road trip, and the next, they're inventing a new business, planning the dinner party next month, and texting five group chats about it samm mut simultaneously. Yeah.
00:12:24
KateLynn Bundy
ah My boyfriend, I'm 99% sure he's a type 7. um He still needs to take the official test, so we're not set on that. But um you would not believe how many group texts that he's in, group chats that he's in. And I thought I was the extrovert.
00:12:41
KateLynn Bundy
But um underneath all this chaos is real genius. They're visionaries who see patterns and opportunities that other people just miss. And their optimism gives them incredible resilience.
00:12:55
KateLynn Bundy
Love that. They can bounce back from disappointment faster than you can say. New plan. Seven's also... um have a magnetic enthusiasm that lifts everyone around them. Because again, you need to find one of these guys.
00:13:13
KateLynn Bundy
They're the life of the party and the emotional glue that keeps that party from falling apart. Don't you love those types of people? Like when you're at a get together and you're so glad that so-and-so is there because you won't feel that pressure to keep the conversation going or you're going to run out of fun.
00:13:34
KateLynn Bundy
If you know somebody like that, they're probably a seven. But they also bring levity to serious conversations, creativity to boring projects, and adventure to everyday life.
00:13:46
KateLynn Bundy
So when sevens are in health and at their best and they stick around there, these are their superpowers. Playful and purposeful. Playful but purposeful.
00:13:58
KateLynn Bundy
Optimistic but wise. They're not faking optimism there. ah Charismatic and adaptable. They're curious learners who see life as a playground for discovery.
00:14:10
KateLynn Bundy
And lastly, they're encouraging friends who help who help others see like the silver lining, like That's really nice. I know, I'm like that. i ah The seven is part of my grouping.
00:14:24
KateLynn Bundy
So i I really do love seeing the silver lining, even if people hate that. But when they're really grounded, they remind us that joy and presence are not opposites.
00:14:38
KateLynn Bundy
That pleasure isn't the same as escape, right? And that true freedom comes from not running away from life, but running toward it with open arms. So for example, you have that friend who's always planning the next thing, okay, the next trip, project, idea, whatever, but when they're healthy, they can also sit with you on a quiet night, you're laughing until 2 a.m., and have these really profound and deep conversations that
00:15:09
KateLynn Bundy
that have you leaving, like you have a brand new lease on life. Like I feel that every time I'm around my brother and I'm talking about the podcast here or just ideas that I have, like he's just there. He loves it. He gives me all these ideas and encouragement. And I just, every time i'm around him, and just leave being like, yes, this new like motivation surge inside of me. And that's a,
00:15:35
KateLynn Bundy
proper type seven right there. And it's the magic of a healthy seven. Their excitement for life becomes contagious and it's not chaotic. k Okay.
00:15:48
KateLynn Bundy
who wants to see guess, who wants to take a guess where a healthy seven seven goes when they actualize themselves and remain healthy? ding The arrows for the seven are unexpected, i will say, but seven's integration arrow points right at the type five. My arrow in stress goes to five, and so we have a lot in common here.
00:16:15
KateLynn Bundy
Well, you'll see. Next week, we're talking about your girl, so stay tuned for that. But yeah, right at the five, they learn to slow down and quiet that rapid activity of their minds so that impressions can affect them more deeply, like a healthy five.
00:16:33
KateLynn Bundy
They're no longer addicted to seeking big experiences and distractions, and healthy sevens are able to stay with their observations and experiences long enough to discover all sorts of amazing things about themselves and the world around them, right?
00:16:51
KateLynn Bundy
This both gives them more of the guidance that they seek and enhances their productivity and creativity as well. which seems counterproductive to them. Like ah someone who's trying to integrate as ah as a healthy seven, like that's going to sound a little backwards to them.
00:17:08
KateLynn Bundy
But if you just keep trudging along, just trust the process, please. But for a healthy seven, ah cultivating a quieter, more focused mind brings sevens into closer contact with their own inner guidance. oh I got it.
00:17:23
KateLynn Bundy
Trying not to sneeze here. Okay. Yeah. Their own inner guidance. Where do we leave that? So they're able to recognize which experiences will be of real value to them. They're no longer distracted by anxiety about making wrong choices and therefore missing out on the best course of action or something.
00:17:46
KateLynn Bundy
And healthy sevens just simply know what to do. And as any type goes through this integration process of discovering their healthy arrow and remaining there, it can look or even feel like they're going to lose who they are at their core, but it's actually like so the opposite. Again, trust the process.
00:18:06
KateLynn Bundy
So for the seven, this growth journey by exploring... um Reality in greater depth and slowing down does not cause sevens to lose their spontaneity or their enthusiasm. It's quite the contrary. Again, they become more free to savor each moment.
00:18:26
KateLynn Bundy
And as sevens learn to quiet their minds and tolerate the anxieties that arise, they They gradually and naturally begin to open to the clarity, the insight, and knowing qualities of our healthy fives, right?
00:18:42
KateLynn Bundy
Go find a healthy five. They'll be a good influence on y'all. But the key thing for sevens to understand here about themselves is that as long as they are directly pursuing happiness and satisfaction,
00:18:55
KateLynn Bundy
they'll never attain them, which seems weird. Stay with me. Fulfillment is not the result of getting it anything, right? It's a state of being that arises when we allow the richness of the present moment to touch us. It's so simple, right?
00:19:11
KateLynn Bundy
And when under when sevens understand this and are able to let go of the conditions they place on their happiness, an inner spaciousness opens up in this simple pleasure of existing arises in them.
00:19:25
KateLynn Bundy
So beautiful. And there's nothing wrong with thinking about the future, but with sevens, it's the primary way that they lose connections with the present, right? And the most challenging part of the transformative process for our sevens involves their ability to stay in contact with present reality.

Motivations and Avoidance

00:19:46
KateLynn Bundy
And this this is difficult. but Because staying more awake and present eventually brings into consciousness the very pain and deprivations that sevens have been fleeing, which we're about to dive into.
00:20:01
KateLynn Bundy
But one point I want to bring up again, um just because our sevens are more present in the moment and are slowing down, this doesn't mean they're quieting their spark or no longer planning the fun trips or coming up with fun new ideas. No.
00:20:15
KateLynn Bundy
When they're in their healthy state and they stay there, their motivation, right? This is what the Enneagram is all about. The motivation. Why are we doing what we're doing? The motivation on doing those things, it shifts.
00:20:28
KateLynn Bundy
They aren't planning trips to avoid their inner self or negative, difficult emotions. Rather, it's them doing it because Yosemite National Park is a beautiful place they've never been to and want to go.
00:20:43
KateLynn Bundy
And that's it. And there's no more to it. Right. So how does that land with you guys? Let me know in the Spotify or YouTube comments. I could have gone on forever about a healthy seven. Like, oh, just makes my heart flutter.
00:20:58
KateLynn Bundy
But we got ah got to move on. this The Dark Side of the Rainbow. Oh my God, what's that Mulan song? The Dark Side of the Moon. That wasn't right. That used to be my favorite movie. I should know that song.
00:21:15
KateLynn Bundy
But anyway, enough procrastinating. Let's talk about this dark side, the shadow sides, because that's the only way we can get to the good stuff. Okay?
00:21:26
KateLynn Bundy
So because of all, ah for all their sparkle, like, you know, the sevens, they they still have a shadow. And it's not a cute one. Sorry. I mean, who is this cute anyway, right?
00:21:37
KateLynn Bundy
But when they get caught in fear, sevens become masters of escape. Emotional Houdinis. Okay. They'll vanish from discomfort faster than you can say, just feel your feelings.
00:21:52
KateLynn Bundy
They hate that. I said that to a seven once and their facial expression was like, I basically asked them to eat a can of spiders. Like, Ew. like, sorry.
00:22:04
KateLynn Bundy
um But when that fear of pain or limitation um kicks in, they start running emotionally, mentally, and sometimes literally geographically.
00:22:16
KateLynn Bundy
They fill their calendars, their minds, and even their bellies to avoid the terrifying quiet of just being, existing. And at this stage, sevens become impulsive, scattered, and restless. Those are their, I think,
00:22:31
KateLynn Bundy
Or were those there little, uh, no, not yet. Sorry. I'm jumping ahead. But yeah, sevens become impulsive, scattered, and just restless. They chase stimulation like oxygen, new trips, new people, new hobbies, new spiritual awakenings every other week, man. poof They tell themselves it's gross, but really it's avoidance, dressed up in productivity.
00:22:55
KateLynn Bundy
Wow. So for example, they they'll they'll sound something like, I'm fine, everything's fine, right? While simultaneously jungling a new job, two side hustles, another backpacking trip, and rapidly decaying attention span.
00:23:11
KateLynn Bundy
Sorry, it's true. Unhealthy sevens can also become undisciplined, commitment-phobic, and addictive. Not always to substances, but which is a little, I think sevens, think,
00:23:25
KateLynn Bundy
I think we're going to talk about that. I don't know. But um they can be a little bit more prone to those types of addictions. But what we're talking about here is addictive to possibilities.
00:23:37
KateLynn Bundy
They get high on anticipation. The next thing, the next plan, the next hit of excitement, that's their drug. Yeah. And the tragic part here, underneath all that motion is a quiet voice that's whispering.
00:23:52
KateLynn Bundy
If I slow down, I'll have to feel something i cannot control, which I can relate to. So for example, when a seven is going through a breakup, instead of sitting in the heartbreak, they're booking the solo trip to Tulum, buying the surfboard and posting new chapter energy on Instagram.
00:24:12
KateLynn Bundy
Sorry, had to. And meanwhile, their sadness is sitting at home being like, cool, I'll be here when you're done. You know, zip lining through your coping mechanisms because I ain't going anywhere.
00:24:25
KateLynn Bundy
Okay, so on our Enneagram diagram, what is your guess for this era when they're under stress? I bet you're going to be wrong because, again, it's a little unexpected.
00:24:37
KateLynn Bundy
Under increased stress, sevens become aware that they need to focus their energies if they want to accomplish things. Like average to unhealthy type ones, they start showing type one patterns. They become rigid, perfectionistic, and strangely critical They'll organize their chaos, control the fun, and turn, you know, being positive into a full-time job. There is such a thing as toxic positivity.
00:25:07
KateLynn Bundy
And unhealthy sevens, they, that' that's part of it. They'll preach optimism while secretly burning out under the pressure to keep everyone, including themselves, happy.
00:25:19
KateLynn Bundy
So the unhealthy traits and um what mean call it? anti-powers, is that where we're going with? But it can look like this. um Constant busyness or and or over committing, escaping boredom or sadness with distractions, avoidance of emotional pain through through humor or positivity, um impulsiveness and fear of missing out, right?

Stress and Transformation

00:25:45
KateLynn Bundy
FOMO.
00:25:45
KateLynn Bundy
I know a couple of you guys. Okay. um difficulty finishing what they start, and surface-level joy that hides deep anxiety or loneliness.
00:25:57
KateLynn Bundy
So like average ones, sevens under stress often take on, you know, a teacher mode. They suddenly feel compelled to educate others, whether it's about this book that they're reading, a new restaurant, or their latest political or spiritual revelation that they've had.
00:26:15
KateLynn Bundy
Oh my God, my sister-in-law is like that. She's a seven too. See, I have a lot of them in my life. I should count at least four if I'm going to do really quickly.
00:26:26
KateLynn Bundy
But yeah, my sister-in-law is like that. Her beliefs and what her big thing is like changing from one moment to the next. Like, all right, Brittany, what do you believe in this week? What's the new conspiracy theory? It's so funny. she i don't think she's an unhealthy type of her type.
00:26:43
KateLynn Bundy
you know what, let's stay on track here. but But, um, So the seven's natural enthusiasm for their own discoveries can quickly shift into debating, correcting, or critiquing the viewpoints of others. And when the stress builds, their upbeat charm can turn sharp. They grow short, impersonal, and impatient with incompetence, both in themselves and everybody else, unfortunately.
00:27:12
KateLynn Bundy
And when the pressure really hits, they're They're buried frustration, bubbles to the surface, spilling out through sarcasm, nitpicking, or that tone that says, I'm not mad. I'm just deeply disappointed.
00:27:26
KateLynn Bundy
o So from average to unhealthy levels, or sevens resist anything that feels like restriction. They want the freedom to chase whatever excites them in the moment.
00:27:39
KateLynn Bundy
Deep down, they know they'll need the some some structure if they want to sustain that lifestyle that they love. But when their schedule starts to spiral, they overcorrect.
00:27:49
KateLynn Bundy
Trying to get it together is like a stressed out type one. The problem is their discipline at this stage comes from panic, not purpose. So it never really sticks.
00:28:04
KateLynn Bundy
They impose limits on themselves out of guilt, and then they rebel against those same limits out of frustration. And the results, you want to ah merry A of overcommitting, self-restraining, and then overdoing the very thing they swore they'd cut back on.
00:28:22
KateLynn Bundy
You see that toxic cycle? Yeah. The irony, there's a lot of ironies here. The harder sevens chase happiness, the further it's running. It runs from them, okay?
00:28:33
KateLynn Bundy
Because joy, it can't be hunted down, okay? It has to be received, okay? And that's the heartbreak of our sevens. Their endless pursuit of fulfillment keeps them from realizing that they're already full. Okay, more on that a minute.
00:28:52
KateLynn Bundy
um But yeah, how did that feel? It did keep that a little bit shorter. it could have really kept going. But knowing my sevens, I just need to give you a little bit of stuff to nibble on and digest because I get it.
00:29:06
KateLynn Bundy
Growth is really hard for us, and we will have future episodes on the shadow sides of our types, like deep dives, y'all. So you're going to have to face the music a little bit more in the future,
00:29:18
KateLynn Bundy
okay okay?

Type 7 Wings

00:29:21
KateLynn Bundy
moving on to our wings, we're getting into Caitlyn territory. um So yeah, wings of our sevens, man. It's like ah wings is for them is like a margarita with different salt rims, same bass, totally different kick.
00:29:36
KateLynn Bundy
I love a good margarita. I don't drink them because I have so many calories. Okay. The seven wing six is our entertainers. This seven is charmsies. They bubbly. They're people oriented. The six wing adds loyalty and anxiety.
00:29:57
KateLynn Bundy
they're They're the type to say, let's all quit our jobs and start a commune. Yes. But also immediately make a spreadsheet of emergency contacts and snack supplies. Like, yeah.
00:30:09
KateLynn Bundy
They're a little more cautious than pure sevens, but also more community driven. Think um fun friend who also brings the fun grain. i
00:30:21
KateLynn Bundy
That is so my friend, April. I love you, girl. Yeah. But she's also a mom, so you got you just have to be like that. But anyway, um next, the seven wing eights.
00:30:33
KateLynn Bundy
um Getting a little into me. Can you tell I'm excited for next week? The realist adventure. These sevens have more fire. The eight wing adds assertiveness, leadership, and let's make it happen sort of energy. They're the type to say, let's start a business, and they're actually doing it. They're bold, direct, and...
00:30:54
KateLynn Bundy
and sometimes intimidating in their enthusiasm. Think like the mashup of Ted Lasso meets Tony Robbins. Oh boy, could you imagine that type of person? But yeah, so here's the meat.
00:31:09
KateLynn Bundy
Okay, moving on to our next little segment

Mindfulness and Fulfillment

00:31:12
KateLynn Bundy
here. Here's the meat. The reason why we're all here. How does a seven go from escaping pain to embracing life fully?
00:31:23
KateLynn Bundy
We're talking in practices for growth, or as I like to call them, ways to sit still without exploding. I think we've all been there, right? And these came from a variety of sources, which you can find in the show notes.
00:31:37
KateLynn Bundy
So first off, duh, practice stillness. but Sevens, I know, it's your kryptonite. I know, but it's also your medicine. Please trust me. Try mindfulness, meditation, or journaling. Just sit with your thoughts without reaching for your phone or planning something, whatever.
00:31:57
KateLynn Bundy
Ask yourself, what am I trying to skip over here? Because the moment you stop running from pain, it stops chasing you, okay? Like, there's no lion behind you. It's all in your head.
00:32:10
KateLynn Bundy
But also notice that you're mentally revved up. Take a minute. when you When you start to feel mentally, like, zzz, Take a minute to breathe and see what's really going on with you. You don't need to do a full meditation sesh. Just a quick check-in with yourself.
00:32:28
KateLynn Bundy
Ask yourself if you are afraid or upset on something. um and when you see or feel... Yes, see your mind racing.
00:32:39
KateLynn Bundy
It's the perfect time to ask yourself like, yo girl, what's up? Almost always you will see that you're masking some source of anxiety. and also um the word boring can also be a major problem.
00:32:56
KateLynn Bundy
major clue or red flag to yourself. The next time you feel in danger of being bored, stop and see what you are avoiding. Okay. It's going to take, all of these are going to take practice. Okay. So just stick with it.
00:33:11
KateLynn Bundy
Second, limit your options on purpose. I know sevens hate limits, but too many options equals Decision paralysis. Pick one project, one hobby, one ice cream flavor.
00:33:26
KateLynn Bundy
Commit to one thing on the Saturday night. Not three of them. And, okay, coming from a person whose biggest pet peeve are flaky people. Okay.
00:33:39
KateLynn Bundy
Committing to something and showing up is just a great sign of respect to your friends and your family. Don't RSVP as a maybe to something because you want to see if anything better will be happening.
00:33:52
KateLynn Bundy
Like, bruh. I could literally do a full episode on on this, so I'm going to stop myself now before I get in trouble. But um so there's depth. um Think of like depth, not variety, is where you're going to find variety.
00:34:07
KateLynn Bundy
Real fulfillment. So look for joy in the ordinary. It's there. This is still number two, by the way. Your fear of deprivation and your desire to entertain yourself prevent you from finding the fulfillment that you seek.
00:34:23
KateLynn Bundy
So if you look back, do a little exercise with me here. If you look back on your life and the memories that have filled your love cup up, you know, or your appreciation cup, those things have probably been pretty ordinary things.
00:34:39
KateLynn Bundy
I'll stake my reputation on that. like a sunset or a birth of a child or a wedding, adopting your dog, right? These little moments won't always make the best, most exciting stories you're going to share at Friendsgiving next month, but what makes them so good and real? There is a specific quality to those small moments that gave them so much meaning and fulfillment for you A quality you'll have to find out on your own. Sorry, girl. That's your journey.
00:35:10
KateLynn Bundy
And your next journal prompt, okay? Think about it. Three, let things affect you. It's not that you ignore your feelings, your negative feelings. It's that you tend to process them halfway. I actually learned this from one of my other sevens. She moved away. I haven't seen her in forever. She's in Michigan, I think.
00:35:31
KateLynn Bundy
Yeah, Michigan. And she talked about this a lot when she came to this realization that I know what I'm feeling, but I just stop myself and move on. Right. Whether it's stopping yourself mentally and just distracting yourself with something else.
00:35:45
KateLynn Bundy
So this is a really great insight. um But yeah, you tend to process these things halfway. You notice them just enough to name them. Then you're already on track. To the next distraction, but really letting something affect you to sink in past the surface.
00:36:03
KateLynn Bundy
It's not the same as wallowing or being dramatic. In fact, allowing life, even the hard or messy stuff. to Letting life like touch you deeply is what gives your joy depth and meaning. it It turns happiness from something that you feel is fleeting all the time into something real and around you all the time. So try to notice how emotions actually live in your body. This is going to sound very flower child, but what is sadness feel like to you do you? Does it tighten in your belly or ache in your chest or weigh in your head or something like physically?
00:36:43
KateLynn Bundy
How about the opposite excitement? Does it, you know, you get that blood pressure rise, you get a little, a little buzz in the old hands or your throat. So simply naming a feeling like I feel sad, it is a good start.
00:36:56
KateLynn Bundy
read It is, but it's not the same as experiencing it fully. Letting yourself be moved physically and emotionally by what you feel is what transforms those quick emotional snapshots into true presence with your sadness and your joy.
00:37:14
KateLynn Bundy
Okay. So, Five. Next.

Finding Inner Joy and Contentment

00:37:17
KateLynn Bundy
Not five. i dont well No, actually, yeah, integrate your inner five. um So sevens grow when they move toward the calm, the contemplative energy of the type five. It means slowing down, observing, and learning to enjoy silence. I know, it's a tough one.
00:37:36
KateLynn Bundy
Think of it as the inner stillness behind all the fun, which kind of touches on the first one. Meditation can be, is extremely helpful for you guys. Just trust me, please.
00:37:50
KateLynn Bundy
know that word has me turning my nose up to meditation. i meditat Meditate like, ew, no, i don't want to do that. but I've had to when I needed to, but give your yourself grace here and just start practicing. Okay. Preferably ah really good time of the day to do that is in the mornings when things are just kind of naturally calm, take your coffee, go to the quiet corner, comfy couch, and just start with like a couple of minutes, please.
00:38:17
KateLynn Bundy
Anything. It will be challenging. it is. It is for anybody, okay? Because you will see how revved up your mind and your mental chatter is all the time. So let the chatter come and go and don't keep peeking at the timer, okay? Waiting for it to end.
00:38:35
KateLynn Bundy
And that's another point. How you end the meditation is just as important. Be mindful of ending that five or ten minutes and see if you can carry, like if you if you came down, if you calm down and and feel like a little bit of an inner peace,
00:38:51
KateLynn Bundy
See if you can carry some of that inner quiet into your actions after you meditate versus just jumping off the couch and going 100 miles an hour. Okay? Otherwise, it was just pointless and you wasted five minutes.
00:39:04
KateLynn Bundy
But it's practice. Practice, practice, practice. So... Yeah, so when sevens, as we kind of wrap it up here, when sevens stop running, they discover something extraordinary. that That the joy they were chasing was never out there.
00:39:20
KateLynn Bundy
It was always inside. Their true essence is contentment. Not excitement, not distraction, but that deep, steady knowing that I am okay if even if nothing is happening, even if I feel pain, I am okay. And that's when the seven becomes ah true alchemist, turning ordinary moments into gold, not because they're special, but because they're present,
00:39:50
KateLynn Bundy
And above all, Sevens come to realize on the deepest level of their being that life itself is a gift. It really is. And when they finally stop running and start receiving, they begin to see that there was never anything missing.
00:40:07
KateLynn Bundy
The beauty, the excitement, the adventure they were chasing was woven into existence all along. One of the most profound lessons sevens offer the rest of us is that there's nothing wrong with life, nothing wrong with the ordinary, the quiet, and the material world. It's all sacred.
00:40:29
KateLynn Bundy
Every breath, every laugh, every shared meal, every sunrise that slips by, it's the creator whispering, look, it's all for you. And when sevens awaken to this truth, gratitude becomes their natural state. They stop taking things for granted and the world floods back in with color and all this wonder.
00:40:52
KateLynn Bundy
Even the smallest moment, the sip of coffee, conversation, can sweep them into awe. And when they stop demanding that life entertain them, they find themselves enchanted by it instead.
00:41:06
KateLynn Bundy
But this is also their greatest struggle, to remember where real joy comes from. And for sevens, joy isn't found in the next adventure or the next thrill or idea.
00:41:17
KateLynn Bundy
It's in the stillness between them. It's what happens when they stop trying to create happiness and start recognizing it as something that's already there, right? That's the transformation of the seventh from chasing life to receiving it, from fearing emptiness to finding fullness in the present moment.
00:41:40
KateLynn Bundy
And when that happens, their joy becomes less like excitement and more like peace that just shines. Don't you love that? If this episode hit home for you guys, share it with your favorite impulsive buddy or post your own emotional stillness era series on TikTok, ah tag me.

00:42:17
KateLynn Bundy
So to all my sevens out there, may your adventures be wild, but your heart stay home. And remember, no matter how many passports you fill, playlists you make, or plans you chase, you're still you. I'll see you next week.

KateLynn Bundy
Bye.
