How To Create A God-Centered Vision Board for 2025!

As I kickoff a new year I had to do it in true fun female form with a Vision Board Party, but this isn't your typical: find aesthetic pictures and glue them on a poster board. This year I wanted to create a vision board that had depth, intentionality and that aligned with God's will for my life!
In this episode I give you some guidelines for how to create a vision board that is God aligned so that you don't spend the next year going in the wrong direction.

Hey hey welcome back to the podcast you guys, I'm excited for this episode, because I want to go into some depth around creating a vision board for 2025 that actually has depth and intentionality and where you align your visions and your plans and the desires desires of your heart with what God has for you.

While those things are so important and we need to have vision for our lives, we can kind of get shallow when it comes to the vision board. And so I'm going to walk you through, this is going to be a short episode, on how you can create your 2025 vision board with depth, with some depth.

and really align your desires and what you want to create on a deeper level than just, I want to eat you healthy, or I want to buy a new car. And so let's go ahead and get started.
Personal Story: Lack of Vision in Marriage

So let's start off in Proverbs 29 18, where there is no vision, the people perish. But blessed is the one who heeds, wisdoms,

instruction. We have to have vision for our lives and I remember when me and John had first gotten married. I had flew out here from Tennessee and I was getting acclimated in California. We were getting used to being married. We were newly married. He was working. I was raising the children. I was full-time stay-at-home mom and that was great for a little bit until it wasn't and I remember coming to him and just saying What are we doing?
Transformation Through Vision

like You are working all the time. I'm at home with a kid. But they what are we doing? like what Why are we working? We're making excellent money. And I'm so grateful that I get to stay at home. But what are we working towards? And I remember feeling this frustration with him, with with our marriage.

And we sat down and realized that we did not have a vision that we were working towards as a couple. We were just going through the day, let's make as much money as we can, try to live right, raise our kids right. But that's not a vision. That's not something to cling to when times get so tough. And so We sat down and we said, what's the vision? What are we working towards? What do you want to work towards? What do I want to work towards? And we decided that we wanted to buy a house. We were raising two precious boys and we wanted to provide a beautiful home for them. And so we decided that we were going to work towards buying a house.
Seeking God's Vision Before Planning

And so I tell that story because after we decided that the vision was that we were going to buy a house, everything changed.

I no longer was just living day to day to raise the kids. I now had a purpose. I now had a mission. And that's what submission is. It's where you come under somebody else's mission and you support it. But John didn't give me a mission and it is the husband's place to cast the vision to set the mission and then the wife comes under and she helps bring that, she helps birth that. And so it wasn't until we got a fresh vision that things really started to kick off in our marriage. And so Proverbs 29, where there is no vision, the people perish. I was perishing because I did not have a vision to work towards.

i I hadn't heard from God on what I was, the direction that he wanted me to go in. So when it comes to your vision board, what is the vision? And I want you to, before you start working on your vision board, I really want you to dig deep and spend time in prayer, spend time in the word.

fast and ask God, what is the vision for this year? What has he told you that this year is about? Maybe for you this year is about resetting. Maybe for you this year is about resting. Maybe this year is about going all in, all in on your marriage. Maybe it's about intentionality. You want to be very intentional with your time.

Maybe the vision this year is all about systems, delegation and processes. That was mine and John's vision for last year. So what is the vision? What are you creating this year with God?
Surpassing Expectations with God's Plans

because you don't want to cast your own vision without hearing from God because you will spend a whole year going in the wrong direction. And then you will get to the end of the year and you'll say, this is not what I wanted to create. And then you'll be mad at God. But the thing is, is God never told you to do that thing. You didn't spend time with him to see what he had for your life.

So what is the vision? Don't just pursue goals without his guidance. Pray over your goals. Pray over the vision and sit and wait until you hear clearly from God. So have your vision.

And that's the most important thing before we start sticking pictures and gluing them on a board. We need to get serious about our vision because we want to go in the right direction.

jeremiy Jeremiah 11 says, for I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. This is why it's important for us to seek God and see what he has for our lives. Because he has plans to prosper us.
Trusting God's Vision Over Personal Ambitions

He has plans for us that we cannot even fathom for ourselves. And I was showing my vision board last night, and I was showing how I had put a house on my vision board. My desire was that I was going to have a house for my boys.

But when I look back at this past year, God did so much more than just give us a house. Not only did he bless us with a house, he blessed us with a house far beyond what we could ask or dream or imagine. it It's a dream house. It's a house you retire in. It's some people's third or fourth house. So not only did he do that,

But he said, no, no, I'm not just going to give you a place to raise your children and call home. I'm going to give you a home that's going to be a blessing to other people. He had so much bigger plans than we had for ourselves. He knew that this house was going to be a blessing to other people when we did not know that it was going to be.

And it has done nothing but prosper us. And I don't mean financially. I mean in our health, in our peace. It has been a place of restoration for marriages, for inner healing. I mean, we have had so many encounters and prayer nights and events here, baby showers, birthday parties, so many things.

And I'm glad that I submitted to what God had. I'm glad that I said, okay, God, these are my desires. My desire is to have a house. And God said, okay, great. Now watch me multiply it. So I want you to know that when the Lord speaks to you, you can trust it and that it may not make sense.

but his plans for you are way better than what you can come up with on your own accord. So trust his plans over your personal ambitions
Spiritual Maturity and Commitment to God

and ask yourself, how do your dreams align with God's promises for your life?

And I wanna read Psalm 37, four to you. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust him, and he will do this. I wanna jump back to where it says, take delight in the Lord, and then he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord. God cares about the things that we care about.

He cares about the tiny, tiny, tiny little thoughts that we have to the big grandiose plans that we have. But the the exchange is that he will give us the desires of our heart when we delight in him and when we commit our ways to him. So if you're going off on your own path,

If you have a boyfriend and you know that you don't need to be sleeping around with him, and this is not me shaming anybody, I've been there, but if you know that you are not walking and committing your ways to the Lord in the way that you know you're supposed to be, do you think that God is going to give you the desires of your heart? And I'll set this example up like this.

We have a son and we want to give him what he wants. We want to give him this new Xbox that he has been asking for. But he has not shown us as a seven year old boy that he is mature enough to handle an Xbox and this may sound extreme to some people but we are very intentional about what our children watch and what they do and we just notice that he gets wrapped up in screen time and he gets grouchy and he gets all these things when he doesn't get to play and so we want to give him what he wants

but he has not shown himself responsible enough to handle this yet. We just don't think he's immature enough, emotionally mature enough. And so we will not be getting him an Xbox right now, maybe next year, maybe six months from now when things change, but right now he has not shown himself responsible. And that is how God is with us. When we are obedient, when we are responsible,

when we're spiritually mature enough to handle, he will give us the desires of our heart because he cares about what we care about. But so many of us want to use God. We we don't we don't want to we don't want to give up our fleshly desires, but we want God to bless us. But why would he do that?

Why would he give us a blessing? that we have we can't even prove ourselves trustworthy with a small thing, but we expect God to give us this big thing. You live in an apartment and you can't even manage to keep it clean, but you want a 10,000 square foot house that you think you're going to be able to clean? God's like, if I give you that square foot house, you' you're it's going to give you stress and anxiety.

trying to keep it clean because you can't even keep your apartment clean. You have to steward what you have. Be a faithful steward of what you have and God will bless you with more if you commit your ways to
Reflecting God's Work in Vision Boards

him. What does that mean? To commit your ways to him. It means spending time with God. It means loving the Lord your God with all your heart and loving your neighbor as you love yourself.

Are you being good to people? Are you giving when he asks you to give? Are you going to church? Or are you, do you need to be at the ball fields every Sunday? Or you need to go do Sunday fun day and drink and do brunch because that's what you do on Sundays? Or are you dying to self and putting God's house and God before your own life? Do you open up the word?

your Is your life centered around you spending time with God or does that come at the end of your day? Are you surrounding yourself with people who love you and who can speak into your life? Or do you have friends who support your bad decisions? There are so many ways we can commit ourselves to God, but I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking to you right now on an area that you could commit yourself to the Lord better. And when you do that,

He will show himself faithful. He will give you the desires of your heart. And so ask yourself, are my desires aligned with God's will? And pray over those desires before you create your vision board. Make sure that they align with God's will. You will feel a peace about it. If so,

And then Isaiah 55a says, for my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways declares the lord as the heavens are higher than the earth so my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts And this is saying that God has so much more for us, like I said before, than we can think or even dream of.

And so one reason why I love building a vision board is because you at the end of the year, when you look at it, you're going to say, wow, God did so much more.

than I even had planned for myself. And that's like I was saying with my house, like I had a house on there and the house would have been good enough. But when I look back, I think, oh my gosh, God bless me and John so abundantly with our house. He blew it out of the water. I didn't have that on my vision board. I didn't have on my vision board, have 50 events and bless so many people with our house, but God did.

But I had to give him something to work with. I had to get the house first before he could bless us with the events and bless other people with the events. And now we've gotten to use our house to be a blessing to others. Also on my bible study or on my vision board, I had a group of women and my intention was to start a Bible study. And I've done that.

Another way God has totally just blew it up and blessed me so much. I didn't know my Bible study was going to be a Bible study where I have women every single week saying, can I come? Can I come? Can I come? People DMing me on Instagram. Oh my gosh, I wish this was virtual. I wish I was in San Diego. like it's it's God has blown it up even bigger than what I even had in mind.

And so I wanna remind you, leave space on your vision board for God's surprises because he is gonna come through with some unseen blessings. He will, he's gonna do it. And at the end of 2025, you're gonna look at your vision board and you're gonna say, oh my gosh, I did not see that coming. And that's the great thing about God is that he gives us way more than we asked for.

And so, you know, just to wrap it up,

When you are looking at things to put on your vision board, you know, maybe you want to get in shape for 2025. Maybe you want to, you know, you've fallen off with your eating and with your gym. I don't want you to just put a picture of a baddie on your vision board with a nice body. I want you to go deeper and I want you to ask yourself questions like,

How can I be a good steward of my temple? Maybe that looks like not just it's so much deeper than looking good in a bikini. It's practicing self-discipline, which is one of the fruits of the spirit.

and saying I'm a daughter of Christ and I'm not gonna go to the gym when I feel like it I'm gonna go to the gym when I said I was gonna go to the gym because I am disciplined because the Holy Spirit lives in me and I have self-control or maybe with your health it's it's not about you looking a certain way maybe it's about a you know, giving up something. Maybe you need to cut out sugar for the the next six months because you just cannot seem to stop eating sweets, even though you don't want to do it. Maybe you need to practice self control. You need to kill the flesh and say, Hey, listen, flesh, I am in control here.

You know, me and John, we are coming up on two years of no alcohol and we didn't do it because we wanted to be holy. We did it because we were drinking so much that we needed a break. And wow, like it has turned into almost a two year fast ah of no drinking.

and I can't even like begin to explain the spiritual breakthrough that I have had because I have every single day, every party Every vacation, every holiday celebration get together for almost two years now. I have said no to my flash because trust me, I have wanted to have a glass of wine. On New Year's, I wanted to have a glass of champagne with my friends. At the birthday parties, I wanted to have a cocktail.

or not a mockta a cocktail We made mocktails instead. But no, every day for almost two years, I have said no to my flesh. My flesh wanted it so bad. And I said, no, I am in control. Josie is in control. My spirit is in control, not my flesh. And so, you know, it's deeper than having a nice body. Your inability to have the body you want, to have the health that you want, it's not your busy schedule. It's because you need to die to self. You need to focus on what it looks like to be self-disciplined. And so when you are creating your vision board, I want you to go deep with what you put on there. Maybe you're looking at food and you say,

I want to eat healthy. I want to cook more meals for my family because I love my family and this is a labor of love. I don't want to eat out so much.

I want to spend time in my kitchen integrating my children in my cooking and hey, I know this sounds like a dream life and not everybody has time for this every night and I'm not trying to make it be unrealistic, but maybe it's more about just eating healthy. Maybe it's I'm going to teach my kids how to be healthy and to be kind to their body and putting good food in their body.

And so when you are looking at your vision board and you're really thinking about words that you wanna put on it, pictures that you wanna put on it, I want you to go deep. i I want you to go way past the picture and I want you to think, how is this going to bring glory to God? How is this going to deepen my relationship with God? How is this going to make my life a living testimony of God's goodness is what I'm putting on my vision board is is are people going to look at my life and think wow her life is a representation of Christ and our lives need to be proof that we have had an encounter with God because if we are living like the lost people we know

They're not going to look at your life and think, wow, I really want to get to know Jesus. They're going to be like, your life is no different than mine. Why would I want to get, why would I want to get to know Jesus? Your life is no different than mine.

And so in 2025, I want you to create a new type of vision board. I want you to spend time in prayer, ask yourself, how am I going to align my 2025 with what God has for me. And I know 2025 is going to be a beautiful year for you and I cannot wait to hear what God does in your life this year.
