Hey, everyone. Editing MJ here. Just a quick heads up. We had some issues with Jack's audio. We ended up having to use the fourth backup. Yes, that is right. The backup of the backup of the backup of the backup.
00:00:34
Speaker
ah We'll be back to his normal audio quality in episode 12. Thanks for

listening. Hey, everybody. Welcome to World of Aeon. It's good to see you again. ah i'm in i'm I'm doing the intro this time. It's me, Jack. Woos, say hello.
00:00:48

Oh, hello. Hi. How's going? Everybody else, say hello as well. Hello as well. Hello as well. Anyway, I brought a special guest on today. You know him. You love him. He's been waiting in the green room for six hours.
Interview with Mangle and Goblin Assistant
00:01:02
Speaker
um Mangle, why don't you come on out? Hey, everybody. everybody'm I'm really happy to be here. and This is a bigger studio than my mom's basement. um And ah I've been listening to the show. I had Johnny write up some some questions. He's my goblin assistant. um So...
00:01:21
Speaker
Uh, let's get right into it Why don't you guys take a seat and I'll do a quick interview.
00:01:27
Speaker
Okay. All right. Sounds good, I guess. I didn't realize we were interviewing, but okay. Hey, hey. All right. Yeah, I'll do this real quick. that what Then you guys are welcome to jump into the episode, of course.
00:01:40
Speaker
Okay, so first of all, I have an individual question, and then I'll jump into a group question, and then we'll be done. So first of all, Talira, noticed that you are very large. You have a high strength.
00:01:52
Speaker
um And you happen to be the brute of the party. You know, as a fellow brute myself, <unk>m I'm really happy to see you here. Anyway, are you juicing? Do I detect giant strength potions? Are you natty?
00:02:07
Speaker
I am strong, but I am no brute. Well, I mean, that's not really a question. ah are Are you natty is my question. Are you taking giant strength? It is all or me.
00:02:19
Speaker
The people want to know. Okay.
Comedic Exchanges with Mangle
00:02:22
Speaker
All right. Anyway, Calden, I've heard a lot about chickens. Specifically, Johnny wrote something in here about giant vampire chickens.
00:02:31
Speaker
um How do you feel about poultry? um I think... They make good pets. Yes. What about giant blood-sucking poultry?
00:02:42
Speaker
i I think they can make good pets. Do you think they could help you, someone who's iron deficient, if you ate giant blood-sucking poultry nuggets? ah No, that's not quite how they work.
00:02:57
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. Well, you know, agree to disagree. I mean, from like a biological perspective, that's just not how it would work. It's not really an an opinion thing. yeah
00:03:09
Speaker
i Being minotaur, I really know what what what things are high in iron and protein and whatever. I'm a giant And you're an herbivore. Huge, actually. Yes, but I'm mad. Thank you.
00:03:28
Speaker
Did you say he's nutty? Natty. He is very nutty, that is for sure. He's definitely nutty. Okay. Who brought this guy in? Why... Why are we here?
00:03:41
Speaker
We're getting paid for this, right? I know this guy. We better No.
00:03:49
Speaker
Anyway, Yelpin, it's good to see you again. In my contract, I'm not allowed to rage bait or bully you, so I'm just going to say hello. Okay, hello. Yep.
00:04:02
Speaker
ah Moving on. Anyway, Maeve, Maeve Strongheart, ah I see here that you like to keep your armor clean.
00:04:12
Speaker
Why did you then jump in a river, rusting your armor? Because it was the right thing to do. Armor is...
00:04:22
Speaker
I mean, it may have been, but you could have also found a way around. There was actually a bridge right near you that had a giant spike through it. What I personally would have done is I would have jumped over the giant spike on the bridge and then leaped onto the other side. for it then.
00:04:40
Speaker
Anyway, on to the group question. There have been a lot of ships. Yellen and Calden, Maeve Thalera. Personally, i like to look at ah the lesser known ships.
00:04:51
Speaker
Um... I see you one here from Mother Bear and Verutha. This doesn't work. She's dead, Johnny.
00:05:02
Speaker
And this one says Maeve and an echo of a melody. that It's just her wearing a mask. Self-love is legitimate. Oh, my God. That's true.
00:05:15
Speaker
So which of those do you like better? Self-cest is a legitimate ship within the shipping community for a number of fandoms.
00:05:24
Speaker
I don't follow any of the fandoms. I have no idea which ones are, but I mean, self-love is legitimate. I've had a lot of time on my hands to read anything I could find, so I'm sorry.
00:05:38
Speaker
Did you read War and Peace? It um was not available to me. Okay. All right. All right. I'll write that down for next time.
00:05:51
Speaker
Mae, what are your thoughts? Um, self-love is always a great thing to do. to do All right.
00:06:04
Speaker
Good to hear. Yellen, what about you? I think, okay, thank you for your input. um So, self-love beats a dead lady and a bear. I will see you guys all next time. It's been a pleasure being here. Thank you.
00:06:20
Speaker
We don't never inviting him back, right? No, whenever definitely not. um They need to increase our pay for shit like that. Oh, well, we will leave that up to
Recap & Adventure Planning
00:06:30
Speaker
production. um But, Mangle, thank you so much for coming to the studio today to have.
00:06:35
Speaker
Yeah, very much. so we'll We'll talk about maybe. and we'll We'll talk about maybe another another visit. But either way, it was great meeting you. i'm already out of the building. I can't anymore.
00:06:49
Speaker
Oh, thank God. Audience, I hope you enjoyed that. Welcome back to another episode of World of i own Stories of Legend. This one being episode 11. into the double digits.
00:07:01
Speaker
Now we're into the repeating digits. It's just a great time. I hope you guys are in for a rollercoaster of ride because while I don't exactly know what's going to happen during this episode, I am pretty confident it's going to be fun.
00:07:12
Speaker
And I think it's going rollercoaster. So, and I'm the DM. So i have a little bit insight. I have also asked each of our players some very specific questions just earlier today before this recording. um I'm not going to have them answer any of those by any means now, but I do want to ask ah players, are you excited for this episode?
00:07:31
Speaker
I'm terrified this episode. Excited, yes. Nervous, yes. Yeah. Both. Yeah. Fantastic. Well, I think, ah why don't we just go ahead and get into it then, because I'm super excited.
00:08:02
Speaker
As we join our characters, our players, back in Nevoa on the Genoa Peninsula, we had some interesting last episodes that included a potential giant vampire chicken feather, a a lost bear, and then a mother who seemed to have lost her child bear.
00:08:21
Speaker
Calden ending up having a specific connection with the child bear, ending up able to speak to it. And while I won't get into that conversation because our other players still have no idea exactly what was said there, some interesting things were exchanged and we learned that this bear was indeed actually Lou, a halfling in the form of a bear, somewhat trapped and not the child of this mother bear.
00:08:46
Speaker
little confusing sort of situation that our players found themselves in. And of course, being the lover of animals that several of this party's characters are, they decided to help the mother bear find its child and found that it had indeed been dragged and killed in the middle of a field not far from Nivoa.
00:09:07
Speaker
But, um and maybe you guys can correct me, I think it was Talira who found a tooth. It was one of us. And a very specific long canine tooth Yeah, it was Talera.
00:09:18
Speaker
And it had a hole in it that you could see all the way through. Very tiny. Very specific. While that was happening, in the house we have Maeve and Yellen trying to comfort Lou in some way, shape, or form as this bear is very timid, doesn't seem to want to connect to anyone else.
00:09:36
Speaker
We left our players off as Kalden and Talira come back to the back door of Veruthas. As they're approaching, Talira able to see in the window because of her height, seeing Maeve off in a corner, plucking on her loot, just trying to give some distance to the bear and yell in, still actively trying to coerce the bear into a little cozy tent they had made.
00:10:00
Speaker
Okay, so all of the doors and windows are locked. Indeed, we had made very much sure of that, where Wallery y'all had before he left. i Talira, if I recall, was looking through one of the windows and seeing the scene within. so Calden is probably just standing behind her.
00:10:20
Speaker
was like, are you, are you going to like knock or anything? Or should I just open it myself? I forgot that the we couldn't um just announce we were here.
00:10:33
Speaker
ah I mean, yeah a we we can. in their in their minds, go, we we're back. Oh. Welcome back. Outside. outside
00:10:47
Speaker
Do you need us to... it's locked, oh yes. We locked it. That's right. ah One moment. Well, can knock. I'm going to go unlock the door. This was kind of knocking.
00:10:59
Speaker
Knock, knock. ah You let us in? So, yeah. Oh, yeah. i it looks to dog Sorry, Sorry, you can't come in. Sorry, guys. It's been like month since we've recorded. Anyway, as I was saying. Yeah.
00:11:18
Speaker
Apparently, I need another Red Bull. um Well, yeah. Maeve gets up and puts her loot away. i come in and where is lou right now lou is still in the corner kind of don't don't know if i'd call it cowering but very much imprisoned herself in the corner to try to make it where there's less areas people could approach her from she could see the most of the room hey lou you doing okay
00:11:49
Speaker
If I remember correct, you had broken your connection with her so you could talk with anybody, She can't respond in my mind. Right. She just kind of looks up at you without raising her head, just looking up with her eyes. and Yeah,
00:12:05
Speaker
I bet. I'm going to lock the door behind me if Talira is in. yeah yeah, she would have entered. About what time of day is it?
00:12:19
Speaker
I believe we had gotten into the afternoon last session. so i'm going to say it's it's afternoon to mid, mid to late afternoon.
Magic & Preparations for Challenges
00:12:34
Speaker
Hey, Lou, I know you can't say anything back that I would understand, but, um.
00:12:44
Speaker
I have something here with me that will make sure none I care about will be surp surprised, ever.
00:12:56
Speaker
You are someone I care about now. Nothing can surprise you. Kind of nods her head at you, looking looking up. We need to move on now from from this place.
00:13:11
Speaker
um I thought we were staying at the night and moving tomorrow. Yes. It's too late to leave today. and would be dark before we got very far.
00:13:23
Speaker
ah do Do any of you have a map?
00:13:30
Speaker
That is not something Talira would have. i imagine Maeve would Yellen. I feel like Maeve would have one. She's a bit of You would have been provided one for sure when taking the contract from the Adventurers Room Grail, so one of you would have one.
00:13:44
Speaker
Oh, okay. As you all are having this conversation as well, you start to hear the the pitter-patter of a light rain begin to fall upon the roof of this house.
00:13:57
Speaker
It's too late to leave now. um Let me get that map. going to go lock the door again. You're going to double lock it. You didn't lock it already? just going to double check it, double tap.
00:14:10
Speaker
um Let me go get that map for you. And she goes to her bags and gets the map out. Okay. um the The hatch that I had found previously, how big is the space underneath that hatch?
00:14:28
Speaker
You're talking about the hatch that rose the potions that you all had gathered or? No, Calden had found one, went inside and that's where he found the sigil in the wall. Okay. So you're talking about the, yes, it's the under, so underneath the stairs, there was a closet. So it's like that kind of triangle area. Okay. So it's not underground. There's no like cellar.
00:14:49
Speaker
no Okay. Shit. Okay.
00:14:55
Speaker
Um, I've got the map. we should we should chart our course and find as many settlements as we can in between so we're not in the woods the whole time um yellen what sort of protection magic do you know like as in strictly protection or protection
00:15:23
Speaker
Um, well, I can cast Shield of Faith. Um... That's... pretty much it actually.
00:15:36
Speaker
What do you need, Calden? Holy auras and... and... sanctified ground and... any anything.
00:15:48
Speaker
Well, if you give me some time, I could probably... Yeah, if we have it. put something together let me see what i can do there's nothing we can do now we shouldn't leave i can cast protection from evil and good that's not a singular person that is helpful i don't know i've never really tried it i forget is that one an hour or is that one a minute it's 10 minutes 10 minutes ten minutes
00:16:20
Speaker
How much time do you need? Because I would have to rest before casting any higher level spells, but I have aura of life and I could prepare some other spells if we had time to rest.
00:16:32
Speaker
We definitely are going to rest tonight, I hope. we We cannot leave. We need to stay here tonight, Calden. Nothing will surprise us, okay? He stands up and is looking out one of the windows.
00:16:48
Speaker
Calden, is something coming? Do we need to take watches? Yes, we should. Yes, we will take watches. Something is out there that attacked a bear and killed another baby bear. hate to
00:17:04
Speaker
Hmm. Is that all that it is? We haven't seen it, so... How much has Calden told Talira of what might be out there?
00:17:19
Speaker
Nothing. Nothing. Okay. Nothing. Nothing? Nothing, tra-la-la. Sorry. I have to every time. Talira and Gwynedd made their assumptions when they met him.
00:17:37
Speaker
Can I do a perception check? And he never denied it. Okay. Are you going to insight, Calden? Yes.
00:17:51
Speaker
It's going to terrible and going to work, but I'm going to anyway.
00:17:57
Speaker
A dirty 20? he's He's very hard to read. It's very obvious. He's high anxiety. You get you get the obvious stuff out of him. As far as the words he's saying, it's too clouded with emotion.
00:18:09
Speaker
and But you're pretty confident. Like he says it with confidence enough that you can probably believe him.
00:18:18
Speaker
I would just like to add, if we're doing insight checks against someone, they might be rolling persuasion instead of deception, just so you know. Very true.
00:18:30
Speaker
But we don't know. I'm never going to tell you if I'm rolling persuasion or deception. No, you're not. No. Yeah. I won't even ask. I will just ask you to roll e one of the two. i love that. so Well, I might ask sometimes. But anyway, continue.
00:18:48
Speaker
Kalden, I hate to pry, but I feel like we should have this information. What do you think is coming? Something... big, powerful, dangerous.
00:19:04
Speaker
If it's wiping out bear clans. Wiping out bear clans? What? We know it took a cub. Unless this is also related...
00:19:18
Speaker
Lou doesn't think she has a home to return to. What monster kills the whole clan of bears? I don't know. But i I'm not going to stay here and find out.
Encounter with a Teenage Girl
00:19:31
Speaker
Right about now, you hear a ah light tap of knuckles on the door. As it seems someone's knocking on the front door. Don't open that. No.
00:19:43
Speaker
Quiet. I'm going to sneak over see if I can, like, look. Yeah, you can look. Yeah. Fuck. No perception or check required. I'm going stealth, though. that's fine
00:19:58
Speaker
As you look through one of the windows, kind of pushing one of the curtains to the side, just enough to get a glimpse, you see a child looking maybe around 14, 13, age.
00:20:12
Speaker
A teenage girl. How much is it raining right now? ah it's It's still a little bit of a... It's like a light drizzle right now with the occasional heavy drop, which kind of kind of indicates to you that it'll probably get heavier.
00:20:26
Speaker
You all know, as far as this region goes, you're not far from the Misty Wood. You know where the location is. It's a miracle you haven't had rain on your trip so far. It's pretty cloudy right now, pretty overcast.
00:20:39
Speaker
Oh, fully, yeah. this This area doesn't get full sun very often anyway. It'll get partly cloudy. for sure at times, but rarely full sun. And right now it is a completely gray sky.
00:20:52
Speaker
Kaldon holds up a finger to everyone to like be quiet. I, I'm gonna investigate the shit out of this child. Tell me everything I see.
00:21:04
Speaker
you looking for physical or guidance? Yes. Like an insight check or investigation? fuck. No.
00:21:13
Speaker
He okay. Let me tell you what's happening right now. Okay, okay, okay. Fill us in. He is so on edge. Usually, Kaladin holds himself pretty together, right?
00:21:27
Speaker
Like, even when you guys are in the middle of fight on a boat with a fire elemental, he he can make jokes sometimes. He is kind of falling apart right now. And he looked out and saw someone and he saw a child and he went, there's no fucking kids here.
00:21:49
Speaker
and just started like freaking out. And that's, that's all he noticed. Okay. Did he roll for guidance as well? It was an eight, dude. I rolled a natural one.
00:22:01
Speaker
Oh, wow. Well. Calden cannot see past the panic attack. he He sinks to the ground and kind of curls up in not a fetal position because he's like on his butt, but like his his knees are pulled into his chest, his arms are around, and he's kind of rocking a little bit.
00:22:26
Speaker
And he's like, don't, don't let them in. Don't let them in. We don't know who they are. Don't let them in. There's not children here. Kaldin?
00:22:37
Speaker
Don't let them in. It's also pretty easy to notice after the knocking. You can look over as you, as anybody scans the room, as you would in this situation. You can see Lou's eyes are wide on this, the face of this bear.
00:22:53
Speaker
as she's also petrified. Lou?
00:23:01
Speaker
Completely silent, you can see second fur is up on edge and she is shaking. does Does something smell off?
00:23:11
Speaker
Kaldun crawls over to her. and wraps an arm around her and has um his other, his left hand, his dominant hand kind of out in a way that he often does when he is prepared to be summoning a dagger to throw.
00:23:31
Speaker
Taliri, when you said that, it kind of, it it broke the fear for just a moment enough. You could see an eyebrow kind of twitch and move and you see the nose twitch as,
00:23:45
Speaker
Lou sniffs and then shakes her head no.
00:23:52
Speaker
It smells normal? She nods her head up and down. Still petrified.
00:24:02
Speaker
Did what hurt you smell normal?
00:24:08
Speaker
The eyes kind of glaze over when you ask this. and it takes a an awkward amount of silence before any movement in Lou's body language.
00:24:22
Speaker
And shakes her head now.
00:24:27
Speaker
Ken, I'd like to check something really quickly on my battle axe of warning.
00:24:35
Speaker
All right. Okay. So, Woos, my battle axe of warning. This magic weapon warns you of danger. While the weapon is on your person, you have advantage on initiative rolls. In addition, you and any of your companions within 30 feet of you can't be surprised except when an incapacitated by something other than non-magical sleep. The weapon automatically or magically awakens you and your companions within range if any of you are sleeping naturally when combat begins.
00:25:01
Speaker
So, this magic weapon warned you of danger being the that first thing. Does this seem like danger? You are not getting any sort of warning or pulsing from your axe.
00:25:14
Speaker
It is not danger. i do not think this person wants to hurt us. We shouldn't be here anyway, so let's just stay quiet and hope they leave.
00:25:26
Speaker
Perhaps we should see what she wants. She may need help. How would they know we're here?
00:25:33
Speaker
Who's to say they know we're here? As you all are saying this, you start to hear you start to hear a very loud attempt at trying to pick the locks.
00:25:45
Speaker
I just stand behind the door where the door swings out. um I'm so to the side so when it swings out it doesn't hurt me, but enough to like, if someone walks in they won't see me initially.
00:25:56
Speaker
Just because funny. Do you want me to go out the back door? No, you can't leave. Sounds very clumsy. Well, somebody is going to get in there. They're either going to pick the locks or we open the door.
00:26:11
Speaker
Let's just hide and see what they want. It is okay, Kalten. We will be o okay. No.
00:26:21
Speaker
How long do you all wait and listen to many failed attempts at trying to pick the locks on this door? How many lockpicks does it sound like she's broken? Do you think she's safe-scumming?
00:26:32
Speaker
ah and Definitely at least two. There's like two or three locks on this door. Do we just hear quite a little, fuck?
00:26:45
Speaker
Absolutely. She's running from this thing, too. I don't think she'd be breaking into I think should open the door.
00:26:54
Speaker
cat I mean, if you're running for something, then... Actually, no. Breaking in is bad.
00:27:03
Speaker
Yellen, what are you saying, Yellen? You something? Hmm? Oh, sorry. um I was saying maybe one of us should open the door and the rest of us hide. I i will open the door. An ambush, perhaps? All right.
00:27:19
Speaker
Well... Fuck, it's never this hard at home. Yeah, I'll open the door. Yellen, open the ly in the door You stand ready. Okay. Yeah, Yellen, as you slowly take a chain lock off, undo the deadlock,
00:27:37
Speaker
slowly turn the knob to open the door, you indeed see a young teenage orcish girl. Has black hair in a ponytail. It looks like it's crimped in like three spots.
00:27:51
Speaker
Not like drenched, but pretty wet with the rain having fallen. Looking very frustrated as she gets caught by surprise and kind of falls back onto her ass when you open the door. Oh, oh i'm i'm I'm sorry. i'm ah No, no, don't be sorry. Are you all right? oh yeah I didn't mean to startle you. Yeah, I'm i'm fine. i Do you need help? Who are you?
00:28:17
Speaker
My name is Yellen, and I'm currently covering for Veruthur here. Yellen? My father told me about you. Yes. Oh, I was wondering why Veruthur is not here. Who's your father? Oh, a Bartok.
00:28:33
Speaker
Does he need help with something? no no No, he doesn't know I'm here. Please don't tell him. You have my word. Thank you. Um... What? Uh... Are you alright?
00:28:45
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I'm i'm fine. I, uh... Uh... I'm gonna kind of get down to her level. Um... As you kind of come down to her level, she she eases, you know, relaxes a little bit.
00:29:00
Speaker
Uh... Um... my My dad's told me a lot about you and your friends, um... is it Is it just you here? I know Sarutha's not here anymore.
00:29:15
Speaker
So i thought i I thought her house would be empty.
00:29:20
Speaker
Roll me persuasion check.
00:29:25
Speaker
That's not too bad. 15. fifteen I, uh, I guess you all would be the ones to help, I guess. I just wanted to kind of look around and see if I could find anything about my brother.
00:29:44
Speaker
You're looking for information on your brother. And I'm going to try to say that louder so that, like, everyone inside can hear. ah yeah, I, I just miss him a lot.
00:29:56
Speaker
yeah You know, um It's just really hard not having a big brother. i just want to know. and just want to know. That makes a lot of sense.
00:30:10
Speaker
And I'm going to reach my hand out to help her up. Thank you. um
00:30:17
Speaker
I mean, you guys are already in there. Did you find anything? Unfortunately, I ah don't believe we have. But no more no more kids are going to go missing, right?
Family Reunion and Emotional Exchanges
00:30:30
Speaker
That's what... We're doing our best to make sure it doesn't happen. Dad dad told me it was over. That's true, yeah. Yeah, as far as we're aware, the the ritual is a success. They won't need to do it anymore.
00:30:45
Speaker
Is Talira still standing behind him with, like, her axe out? she's She's behind the door, like i hiding. I thought, hiding. Yeah, you are. Yeah, he had Talira standing behind him.
00:30:57
Speaker
no no, no. Everyone was hiding. He said that no one was here. Yeah, she was hiding behind the door, ready to... Oh, behind the door. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Both Maeve and Talira were behind the door. Calvin's still with Lou.
00:31:10
Speaker
Um... Yellen, um... Do you think you're going to find my brother? I can't say that I will.
00:31:22
Speaker
But what I can say is that I'll do my best. Okay. I guess that's all anyone could ask for. um You feel safe. Can I give you a hug?
00:31:38
Speaker
Sure. She embraces you, and you can feel some sobs coming from her as some tears wet the shoulder of your cloak. That's alright dear.
00:31:56
Speaker
I just miss him so much. I know. My dad still cries every night.
00:32:06
Speaker
just... i what I just want to bring him home for the for my my mom and my dad. I know, and you're doing a great job. This was an excellent idea. Was it really?
00:32:21
Speaker
I know they're gonna... They're not gonna be happy. and As she says that, you begin to hear coming through the sound of the rain as it had has started to pick up.
00:32:33
Speaker
Some distant yelling from more than two people, actually. As you hear, Gasha! Gasha, where are you? I kind of pull her out from the hug, and I...
00:32:46
Speaker
like grab her forearm and I'm like, um, looks like they're looking for you. Let's go over there meet them together.
00:33:02
Speaker
Thank you, Yellen. Thank you, Kasha. As you lead her down the steps of Verruthas' house, you see Bartok and his wife together roaming through the street kind of yelling.
00:33:17
Speaker
And with him, you see Bluebell, whom you recognize from the tavern as well. And then you also see two other folks that you recognize from your past.
00:33:32
Speaker
a man and a woman, looking as if they were looking in between buildings and also yelling out for Kasha. um I kind of, like, stop in my ah tracks for a second, and then I remember what I'm doing, and I ah pull myself back together. I yell out, She's here.
00:33:53
Speaker
I... She's with me. oh Oh, thank God. Kasha, we got so worried for you. Yellen, thank you so much.
00:34:03
Speaker
where Where was she? Oh, um, she was being awfully brave and looking for clues to help you find her brother.
00:34:16
Speaker
Oh, um, Kasha, we talked about this. Yellen and his friends are doing the best they can. Let them do the work.
00:34:30
Speaker
I'm sure they're gonna bring your brother home. His wife kind of pulls Kasha in to a hug. It's gonna be okay, honey. Your brother's... He's gonna come home, don't worry.
00:34:42
Speaker
i I kind of clasper him between both of mine and I say... ah Thank you, though. You did a good job. We appreciate your help. Thank you, Helen. Tell your friends I said thank you, too.
00:34:58
Speaker
I will indeed. Uh, Yellen, um, tell the others i said thank you as well. I assume I'll see you at the tavern tonight. Of course, my friend.
00:35:10
Speaker
He kind of turns his family around and begins walking them back home. Um, it hasn't been made aware to everyone that the children are all definitely dead?
00:35:25
Speaker
no I don't think so. rough the other couple were they giving me any funny looks as you were distracted by bartok you look around now and you don't see them did they leave with them they did not not that you noticed at least
00:35:50
Speaker
i'm gonna do i see any tracks ah Roll me a investigation check if you're looking for tracks or survival I guess would be more accurate for track Or if you want to just look around the area more precisely, you can also just do perception. It's up to you That's not very good. It's just an 11 And I'll do the perception for just looking around more precisely With that you see the husband Naor, you see him walking back in which the way they came. He kind of looks over his shoulder at you once, twice, and then kind of puts his head down and pulls a hood over his head and continues on.
00:36:35
Speaker
All right, then I'm going to... They're headed back that way. I'm going to hoof it back to the Verruthas' house.
Confrontation with Yellen's Past
00:36:42
Speaker
You begin heading back, and it's not that you had necessarily gotten very far, but as you pass Kleasel's hook and barrel general store, and right as you're passing by the side of it, you get pulled into the alley between the next, the two buildings and shoved up by your chest against the other building. And you are face to face with the wife that many years ago, you remember running into her kitchen, watching her holding a baby boy.
00:37:12
Speaker
What are you doing here? Yellen is gonna just, uh, not answer and kind of look at her coldly while he's, like, keeping his hand on her arm. I told you so.
00:37:23
Speaker
Why are you back here again? The same week that he was back. I'm doing job. Now, if you hadn't have done yours and listened to me, none of this would have happened.
00:37:35
Speaker
It wasn't part of the deal. He wasn't supposed to... wasn't supposed to take my little boy. Why'd he back now? i don't know, but that's what happens when you make deals with people who steal children.
00:37:54
Speaker
know. I know. I know. i know. And she starts to break down a little bit.
00:38:01
Speaker
I didn't think we had a choice, okay?
00:38:07
Speaker
I kind of put my arm around her shoulder. I know.
00:38:14
Speaker
I'm sorry for being so cold. I...
00:38:21
Speaker
We moved here after those events so long ago. um He promised us that... It promised us our baby boy would be alive and become a man that he would live on.
00:38:39
Speaker
So even with the rumors of this this place, I thought he'd be safe. We were we were so confident. Whatever it is, it doesn't keep its promises.
00:38:54
Speaker
When it hungers, it hungers. it You can't stop it. He took him. He led our little boy onto the wagon. And we watched him. We were running. We were screaming.
00:39:08
Speaker
something Something glowed from inside the wagon, and our boy was gone. Something glowed from inside the wagon? Yeah. He just turned and smiled at us, and and then then just whisked away like he usually did.
00:39:26
Speaker
Look, I'm not going to say this isn't your fault, but these are the consequences of your actions. who was alive. he would where you can He didn't take his soul. Do you hear what saying?
00:39:39
Speaker
I do. I do. Would you be willing... Do you have the cart? Yeah.
00:39:46
Speaker
Do you know where he takes him, by chance? It's my... it's It's my cart. It's my wagon. We leave town every year you know, Piedonova the time. They... Any children would go missing. Just as a... As a second barrier, here you know, just in case.
00:40:06
Speaker
We came back into town the other day. um i think i I think I saw you then. You did? but Yeah, it's it's my wagon. I use it to help transport my goods.
00:40:20
Speaker
Although, my husband's taken his anger out on it, so there might be a few less pieces. As long as it's still there, I think we may be able to find something. If, um, you can meet me and my friends somewhere, I'm i'm sure we'll be able to think think of a way to, uh, track this back.
00:40:40
Speaker
It's... It's your job. You're... You're a cleric of the clergy. It's your job. You're gonna find him, right?
00:40:57
Speaker
We will try. We will try. no you will.
00:41:03
Speaker
Look at me and tell me you will.
00:41:08
Speaker
Look at me, tell me you will. Please.
00:41:13
Speaker
I will. She like collapses into your chest.
00:41:21
Speaker
Thank you so much. We don't deserve it at all.
00:41:32
Speaker
But neither does he. So it's not his fault. um She kind of suddenly brushes the tears away and shakes it. Tears are still falling, but she tries to steel herself the best she can and stands up straight and rolls rolls her shoulders back. It's the first time that even with her slight frame, you can see she is very hardened.
00:41:55
Speaker
The muscles in her forearms specifically, they are toned and very vascular. This is a very hardy woman, given her slight frame.
00:42:06
Speaker
This is also the first time you notice that she has like some soot and black marks on her from similar that you'd probably see from working in a forge.
00:42:16
Speaker
Okay. um Thank you. um If you want to check out our wagon, we can meet you somewhere. if you it's it's sitting It's sitting at at my blacksmith.
00:42:29
Speaker
You've probably walked past it. You're more than welcome to come by. We'll meet then.
00:42:36
Speaker
Thank you. I'm going to take a big gulp, and then I'm going to walk on back to Verruta's house. Yeah, while all this was happening, what was going in the house, guys?
00:42:48
Speaker
is there Is there anything or is everybody just kind of waiting and on edge? um I think Maeve might have pulled Kaladin away for a chat, maybe.
00:43:01
Speaker
he's Maybe not. Maybe not. You can surely attempt. Are you dead? for it Try to. Are you going to try and drag him somewhere? Let's play this out. How to, yeah.
00:43:13
Speaker
thought Let's Let's play this out. No, let's play this out. Okay. Okay. Well, what is, what is Katyn doing right now? Because, um, He's, he's still got an arm around Lou.
00:43:24
Speaker
Oh, if he's having a panic attack, I'm going to stay the fuck away. He's not like panicking now. Uh, he is a very rigid, um, wide-eyed looking around.
00:43:41
Speaker
Uh, Talira, is he okay?
00:43:48
Speaker
I think he is okay. We did not hear anything. you Are you sure? He... Yellen. Can you hear us?
00:44:00
Speaker
Are you okay? I'm alright. I'm on my way back.
00:44:07
Speaker
Yellen is a cleric from the the clergy. He will be fine.
00:44:16
Speaker
Remember, he fought the man with fisticuffs and he won. Exactly. A man who was notorious for always losing. still won. He still won.
00:44:29
Speaker
It would have been a really bad if he lost. It would have been extremely embarrassing. Exactly. But he won, so we need to trust that he can do his job.
00:44:43
Speaker
He also was eligible for this particular case. It means that he is at least strong enough to handle himself. He is fine. Exactly. I mean, I was kind of just brought along, so... I think you're the only one who was just brought along.
00:45:02
Speaker
Okay. And I think you can handle yourself, Calden. A lot more than you think you can. we We trust Talira's...
00:45:15
Speaker
i forgot, but we trust Talira. We trust something about her. ah We trust her. Her heart. We trust her opinion and faith in you. We trust her brute strength. So...
00:45:33
Speaker
We trust her brute strength. Not brute, but strength, yes. Strength, yes. I will not ever want to do a ah fist battle with you. Arm wrestle?
00:45:52
Speaker
That one. Or fist battle. but It's just you did not didn't motion shi fist battle. you That would be a very weak punch. my pray Only thing you slap is the table. That would be why Maeve was going to lose the fist battle for sure.
00:46:15
Speaker
Correct. go Plus you do slap tables very hard. He's calmed down a little bit, I think. i
00:46:28
Speaker
But a sword fight, then I think I might win. I i mean, sword, she does have an axe and it's quite big. So he like saw how specifically sword weapons? That doesn't mean a sword. It would be specifically sword.
00:46:43
Speaker
I could fight with a sword. I fight with many weapons. I prefer the axe though. The axe suits you. Thank you. You can get the next behind the shield, pull a shield out of the way.
00:46:57
Speaker
Yes, no, absolutely you can. I like the sword specifically though, just because you got a bit more of reach and a swing, but then you can also stab. Yes, I don't need to worry about reach. I am reach.
00:47:10
Speaker
You are. Yeah, exactly. So ah weapons are just so fascinating. What weapons do you use, Kalden? Kalden and Lou kind of... where they just sort of like look at each other, kind of like eyebrow raised.
00:47:29
Speaker
Hmm. I asked you a question. Jill? Kalden? I haven't seen you use a weapon. My mind is my weapon.
00:47:40
Speaker
He is very smart. That's not a weapon. It is for me. But it's not. See, okay. We'll take you to a weapon shop and we'll see what suits you.
00:47:52
Speaker
I use daggers. Oh yeah. Daggers suit you. I think daggers suit you quite well. Throwing brains at people is not effective.
00:48:03
Speaker
Throwing brains. Oh my God. my mind. You look in Keldan's pack and there's just like loose brains just sloshing around in there. Just just squish. Yeah.
00:48:25
Speaker
and he know It's like if he threw brains at people, he'd open his bag and it would be like pudding in there.
Distressing News for Talira
00:48:34
Speaker
As I said, it's not effective.
00:48:36
Speaker
It also... Yellen, you walk back into this conversation. It's okay. up I'll take you guys to this amazing weapon shop we have for sure back in the row. It is... Talira, you will be obsessed.
00:48:52
Speaker
Absolutely obsessed with this weapon shop. I don't think anything can replace these, though. Oh, no, definitely not. But there's lots of shiny, shiny weapons.
00:49:05
Speaker
You're going to a weapon shop?
00:49:09
Speaker
Back in rows, my favorite weapon shop. and What was it called? ah The stick and swing.
00:49:22
Speaker
It sounds like it's maybe not the highest end weapon shop.
00:49:28
Speaker
It's multifunctional.
00:49:31
Speaker
But Yalan, what do you do? You walked into conversations about whether Calden throws brains at people or not.
00:49:40
Speaker
What? It...Kaldin, where would you keep a brain? And also, we're going to a weapon shop? I don't have brain... I don't keep loose brains.
00:49:53
Speaker
Mm-hmm. I was saying that if we ever end up in Rho, there is an amazing weapon shop. It's... It's multi-levels from all around the world, like a weapon emporium.
00:50:07
Speaker
It's called the Stick and Swing. Oh. it's just It's just amazing. My dad used to take me when I was little. How long has that been around? A long time.
00:50:20
Speaker
i can't remember it not being around, so. How old are you? i don't think we've ever actually said how old we are. Um, well, I'm...
00:50:36
Speaker
I'm around, I'm 22. That's how people say their age. Are you sure, asked me my age in ah in a long time. um i haven't We don't really celebrate birthdays at my house, so yeah, 22. Yeah.
00:51:07
Speaker
um Am I the only one going to answer this question or? The only one we asked. Exactly. no one asked me. oh well, um then how old is everyone else? I'm 27.
00:51:23
Speaker
27. Kaladin? i I don't know. Do you also not celebrate birthdays in your house?
00:51:33
Speaker
Yeah. Something like that. Well, normally I remember the year I was born and then I just add to that.
00:51:46
Speaker
What year is it? 1202. It's not too long after the new year. is about this time as amazingly in the middle of such tense moments that has led you all to being in this house.
00:52:06
Speaker
That somehow the camaraderie that you all have begun to have has allowed the the tension to break for an interesting conversation.
00:52:19
Speaker
and just as that tension seems to have broken for a moment, Talira, in your head, you hear a familiar voice. A very familiar voice of Gwynedd.
00:52:32
Speaker
Groomstone. The Dawncaller, um... Your mother has fallen ill. What?
00:52:42
Speaker
Our traditional remedies aren't working.
00:52:48
Speaker
We haven't given up. Neither has she.
00:52:54
Speaker
But it's not looking good. What? You have 25 words respond.
00:53:04
Speaker
I'll count that as one, she's not smart. Okay. What have you tried? That's five.
00:53:19
Speaker
Do I need to come home?
00:53:24
Speaker
You hear back. Last response.
00:53:29
Speaker
I have tried everything in my power.
00:53:37
Speaker
No effects have lasted.
00:53:43
Speaker
truly do not know what lies in her future.
00:53:51
Speaker
Do I get a response? or that was a set no yes That was a second sending, so you do get a response. Okay.
00:54:03
Speaker
Is it elemental? Tri-elemental.
00:54:11
Speaker
You don't hear anything back as her first words of the second sending ring out. Last response.
00:54:19
Speaker
Fuck. What's going on? Are you okay? It was Gwyneth. Who? It was Gwyneth.
00:54:30
Speaker
Who's Gwyneth? Gwyneth, she is um Siobhan's mother, Siobhan's friend Gwynedd, is very helpful to my clan.
00:54:53
Speaker
she's ill and nothing is working.
00:54:59
Speaker
what what What is it? I don't know.
00:55:05
Speaker
But no magical remedies, no traditional remedies, nothing is working. We should... You you should go. we If you want... You should be there.
00:55:22
Speaker
Go, um... Where is she?
00:55:27
Speaker
She would be... In the Moonpeak Mountains. How far? It would be several weeks.
00:55:40
Speaker
It is... We don't get to Gwynedd, the traditional route. We have magical ways.
00:55:52
Speaker
Could we get there from here? It's not close. It's not close at all. Do they have a magical way of transporting us there and back?
00:56:05
Speaker
If we can get to Orlonas, I think we can get there, but we have to get to Orlonas. but it will We'll go. um Talira, just to give you some more context for things we had discussed.
00:56:20
Speaker
um One, um your clan is known to be south end of the Moonpeak Mountains of Duntvor. which is a small city at the edge of the mountains, and you are north into the mountains from there.
00:56:36
Speaker
um You also know from your prior conversations with Gwynedd regarding Siobhan, and just a conversation you had had, is that she had just recently started teaching Siobhan about the magic of waystones.
00:56:52
Speaker
In that conversation, the training she was undergoing is restoring the only waystone on the Joona Peninsula. And which means her training will be complete when it's restored. And at the time of your last conversation that had not occurred yet.
00:57:08
Speaker
Okay. It would be a long shot and I don't even know if Siobhan is able to do it yet. Um, it is a risk going to Orlonus. Otherwise it is a long time.
00:57:25
Speaker
i would be gone. Um, Maeve clutches her mask quite tightly. We... you need to go. I can't leave you. I know you have to finish this job. I cannot let that happen.
00:57:42
Speaker
I need to be there with you. no, no, no, no. um We're almost finished here. We just need to find the bodies and then our contract will be complete.
00:57:57
Speaker
But sometimes matters of family come before duty. If there was a way to find where the children's bodies were very fast, we can try to get to Alanis, take Moss and do the magic thing that you're talking about. But either way, we need to you need to see your mum.
00:58:26
Speaker
I don't even know if I can get there in time. i Gwyneth said it was last message. I asked how long, and I'm not going to get their response.
00:58:38
Speaker
I don't know. Why? I don't have a sending spell. I cannot ask her. She's probably out of energy for today.
00:58:51
Speaker
Sir, tomorrow... Yes, I need to sleep on this. I cannot make a decision tonight. Okay. You wouldn't forgive yourself if you didn't try. Okay.
00:59:09
Speaker
Are you sure? Yes. I'm with you, Talira. Whatever comes. We all are, if you want us.
00:59:23
Speaker
Oh, we're making promises for Yellen. Yellen has no choice. You can go. um i can finish up what we're doing here. Do you have a way to contact us?
00:59:37
Speaker
I can cast sending. um I can do it first thing in the morning. Okay. Blue. I'm sorry, I can't leave.
00:59:50
Speaker
i know this is your job I'm not going to lie and say that it... If it is not something that Gwyneth knows, it might be something you know, but I know your... Your duty is here.
01:00:07
Speaker
We only need to find where the bodies are. you need me, that's all you need to do, yes. And you?
01:00:20
Speaker
I have other um priorities as well. So.
01:00:28
Speaker
It's been a pleasure working with you all. It truly has. As soon as I know what is going on, I will be back to finish this up because this isn't just about the children anymore. This is about the foundations of our home.
01:00:45
Speaker
This is a lot bigger than any of us originally thought it was.
Debate on Priorities
01:00:50
Speaker
You're right. And that is why I do not want to leave.
01:00:55
Speaker
It isn't just about the contract. It is about everything.
01:01:02
Speaker
Talira at this point is pacing. she's She's got that anxious energy and she is pacing. Isn't Siobhan in Alanis?
01:01:13
Speaker
Yes, but I don't know if she is able to actually get us there. But weren't we going to Alanis anyway? Yes, but if she does not have waystone to get us to my tribe, we cannot travel. Her training is restoring the waystone.
01:01:33
Speaker
Yellen, you said you have the ability to cast a sending message. Could we not ask? I do. I don't have it currently, but it would have to be in the morning.
01:01:49
Speaker
and We can't go anywhere until the morning anyway, so... Are we staying in this house tonight or are we going back to no the tavern? well We're staying in this house tonight. I'm staying in this house to tonight, at least.
01:02:07
Speaker
Lou gets up and brushes your hand and arm off for a moment. And you watch as Lou walks over on all fours over to you, Talira, and gets in front of you in the middle of your pacing, looks up at you, and then stands up on two legs, as a lot of bears tend to be able to do, and tries in the best way she can to give you a bear hug.
01:02:30
Speaker
Oh. Talira hugs her back.
01:02:36
Speaker
ta lira hugs her back So hard, like a bear hug. We'll ravine this.
01:02:49
Speaker
but We'll discuss this tomorrow morning when we have our heads on straight and we're able to get more information about what's happening. But tonight I feel like we should rest. Yelena, you said you also have the ability to prepare a spell for removing curses.
01:03:08
Speaker
See if that can help Lou. Yes, I can do that as well. Thank you. Of course. I'm happy to help. Before I say what I was thinking, did did Calden express to us that Lou didn't know if she had a place to go back to?
01:03:31
Speaker
He just this episode said she have Oh, okay, yeah, that's what I thought. I couldn't remember. lo You are welcome to come with me.
01:03:42
Speaker
My tribe is your tribe. Lou kind of looks back at you, Kelden. You can see it in Lou's eyes. like
01:03:53
Speaker
Not that you're obviously Lou's parent or anything, but she feels the most, and don't even know if I would call it friendship, but feels the most in common with you, feels the most connected with you, and looks to you for almost like permission, in a sense.
01:04:12
Speaker
Like, is this a good idea? Taneira is the best person I know. Maybe have ever known. She kind of grunts and sits down in front of you, Talira.
01:04:27
Speaker
Going from the two legs, letting go of the hug, and like sits down immediately from there in a big thump to the ground and just kind of looks up at you, almost in acceptance. You are a family, Lou.
01:04:40
Speaker
And as long as my mom is here, or she is your family too. She gives you a little growl of thanks, I guess would be the best way to put it.
01:04:51
Speaker
Or to communicate whenever she can't speak. Maeve excuses herself. Goes out the door for a little bit. Maeve went for a run.
01:05:04
Speaker
Did she actually, like, legitimately go for a run? Like, can if they look out the windows, could they have seen her trotting away, you know, going into a jog? Or is she just sitting outside on the steps? Oh, yeah, no, no, she's she's she's gone um for a run and a lot of exercise. Okay. ah She's probably gone to the forest for a little bit to punch a few trees. You guys probably could have seen her out the window, out of the corner of your eye.
01:05:29
Speaker
Oh, she's she won't when she leaves. Yeah, when she leaves, you could have seen her continue on instead of just stopping outside. Some time goes by after several hours...
01:05:41
Speaker
Maeve would return a little bloodied, very sweaty, looking like she might have even been in an intense battle and you would not know the difference. Are you good, Maeve?
01:05:54
Speaker
Yeah, fine. Did she get into a fight? No, it's nothing. Um, who's taking the first watch? I can. Okay.
01:06:07
Speaker
A second watch? I'll take second. Okay.
01:06:13
Speaker
I'll take third if Cowden wants to take last. Yeah, whenever. Perfect. Okay, well, excuse me. And she walks to a room and starts getting ready for the night.
01:06:27
Speaker
Could I incite Maeve when she comes back? Yeah, go for it. Do have to roll anything for this? Depends on if you're trying to actively deceive or persuade against something.
01:06:40
Speaker
Oh, nice. 19 on the die, so 23. just going
01:06:47
Speaker
to message. Knowing what Talira got, Maeve, what...
01:06:57
Speaker
What could she gather from the body language, the facial expressions and the emotion or a rather emotionless potentially that Maeve was giving off as she came in into the house and was very direct in asking for watches?
01:07:16
Speaker
Pretty much similar to the first time they met. Very direct to the point, two steps backwards. And just closed off.
01:07:29
Speaker
Okay. Well, um get some rest. Will do. And she closes the door behind her. Oh, Maeve, before you go to sleep, could we borrow your map?
01:07:44
Speaker
I thought I left it on the table. Oh, okay. Excellent. Thank you. Good night. She closes the door. Right. Does Maeve get the only bedroom?
01:07:56
Speaker
I guess she does. What a bitch. oh That's really funny.
01:08:08
Speaker
That is really no discussion about it. She's just, it's mine. Yep. Goes in and shuts door and was like, peace. Funny. I think she kind of assumed everyone would be asleep by now anyway. Um,
Investigation of Magic Circle
01:08:23
Speaker
all right. For the sake of time, does anybody have anything else they'd like to do before they try to get some rest?
01:08:29
Speaker
Oh, I, I was going to go the blacksmith and check out the cart. Do you just kind of slip out or do you announce you're leaving?
01:08:40
Speaker
I'll say going step out for a moment. I have to um visit the blacksmith about a cart. Do you need company or will you be okay? I mean, if you'd like to. It's that whole horsepower thing and everything. So I'm sure I can handle myself. Are you good here, Calden? and Do you need me to stay?
01:09:04
Speaker
I'll stay with Lou for now. Okay. As Yellen and Talira begin down the steps and down the main road...
01:09:16
Speaker
And sure enough, yeah, kind of tucked away. It's like in a row of buildings. It kind of sits a little further back into the row. And it's very unassuming. There's a very there's like a metallic sign next to the door that looks dusty, kind of filled with with just mud and crap.
01:09:34
Speaker
So it's kind of hard to read. And it's just a very assuming, very bland stone building. But sure enough, you do see a a familiar cart out front that looks like it's taken some beatings, and the metal sign saying, Splint Crack Ironworks. I'm going to up and knock on the door.
01:09:55
Speaker
very slowly kind of creaks open, and you see the face of Naor Splint Crack, the husband. yeah You just get enough to see half his face and one eye. You can see his one eye look you up and down.
01:10:09
Speaker
I'll go get Guntha.
01:10:13
Speaker
The door closes. couple minutes goes by. hear a crash of something metallic at the floor. The door opens and she kind of slides through and only opens enough for her to do so.
01:10:27
Speaker
and She kind of bumps into you as she's sliding out. Thank you for coming. um i mean's Here's the cart. um She kind of leads you over to it and there's She kind of points on the ground where now you can see almost like a wood burn into the grain on the right side about a third of the way back. There's a very small magic circle, ritual circle.
01:10:57
Speaker
at um That's the spot, yeah. that It wasn't there when we left. I assumed the activation...
01:11:09
Speaker
burned it into the wood. thats That was the spot.
01:11:17
Speaker
Is it all in one piece or is it a little bit broken? or The wagon itself, his head definitely has some pieces missing. There's wood splintered and cracked where the magic circle is. It looks like it's been stomped on several times with one of the boards completely snapped in half at that location.
01:11:37
Speaker
Well, it'll be a bit more difficult to track due to your husband's outburst, but I'm sure we can find something out. Whatever you can do, it's appreciated.
01:11:52
Speaker
Can I roll an arcana on it? Yeah, absolutely. Give me a roll, sir. Just to, uh... Alright, sounds good. i'm just trying to, like, discern... i guess the type of magic?
01:12:07
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. Magic circles have specific designs based on the school of magic and then the specific spell afterwards. So there are details you could try to make out here.
01:12:20
Speaker
It's going to be a 16. Yeah, with a 16, you can tell the outline of the magic circle is a school of conjuration um magic circle.
01:12:32
Speaker
It's somewhat detailed, giving you a sense that This maybe is at least a somewhat slightly higher level. In fact, it's not just the main circle. There are outlier circles that overlap that are generally needed for... There's like the regular magic circle, then so supreme, greater, things like that. that As you go up in the spell level, they require additional circles to overlap the original magic magic circle to allow for more components or more power thrusting, things like that.
01:13:07
Speaker
As you're investigating, I'll give you this one for free. um You notice that there are almost divots in the wood that were only revealed after it had been damaged.
01:13:23
Speaker
And it almost looks like there's like residue or ash in one of them, as if maybe a component had burned up.
01:13:38
Speaker
Do you have any containers? Like metal ones? who Yeah, yeah glass absolutely yeah. I'll be right back. She heads in. She comes back outside with ah a tiny metallic cup with a lid she had fastened.
01:13:53
Speaker
Almost like ah it's like a little tiny tea kettle, almost. I'm going to scoot some of the residue in there. Something was left behind.
01:14:05
Speaker
Could give us a hint on who it was, where they're going. Well, i think we may have done all we can here. Shall we go back?
01:14:19
Speaker
I'm sorry that we have to leave. No, what you're doing is important. Go see your mother. What you are doing is important.
01:14:31
Speaker
It's not something to feel bad about. We both have important paths to travel. This is mine, and um the one leading home is yours.
01:14:44
Speaker
you You don't need to feel bad. Thank you. And please do tell us what is going on. i I want to see this through.
01:15:01
Speaker
Well, shit, today sucks.
01:15:06
Speaker
We'll all head back to Veruta's cabin if everybody does manage to get a long rest.
Curse Removal Attempt
01:15:15
Speaker
As the morning comes and everybody begins to wake and a big decision looms over the group, who starts our day? Talira's probably up.
01:15:27
Speaker
She's going to have a restless night. Oh yeah, Maeve would be up too, but she would be away from everyone. Hanging out in the bedroom by herself all cozy. So she didn't even sleep on the bed. She would have just had a knapsack in the corner. and This bitch. Right? Didn't even use the bed. That's so funny. Oh, my God. That's so funny.
01:15:58
Speaker
Do you feel prepared to see if we can help Lou? and then i can do that. Cast that sending message once Tanira is ready. Of course. Yeah, so I'll cast Remove Curse on Lou.
01:16:13
Speaker
Okay, so as you begin to cast this Remove Curse, you've maybe casted this a time or two in the past. Not necessarily super often, but enough to understand what it feels like and how it kind of interacts with a person and the the twisted energy that would be inside them if it's there.
01:16:33
Speaker
This is the first time you felt this, as you kind of send your arcane energy to find this dark and twisted cursed energy to so you can remove it like a surgeon.
01:16:45
Speaker
Except as you do so, it is overwhelmed. And while you begin to push back at it, feels like many curses overlapping.
01:16:57
Speaker
And there seems to be something that wants to stop you. as you feel this, you know this is dangerous, not just for you, but also for Lou. And you get this innate sense that you just know you only have one shot at this.
01:17:13
Speaker
There are four overlapping curses. I need you to roll via Can somebody give me the advantage with this d4? How? Is that a thing?
01:17:25
Speaker
I don't know, man. Believe in me. Believe it. I believe it, Databio. Got a big ol' three. that's why That's wild. That's wild. Of all the ones to get.
01:17:40
Speaker
As you remove the curse you feel one of them snap. You feel one of them give. And you remove one of these curse knowing that you're not going to be able to do this again. And you don't see any visual change with Lou.
01:17:55
Speaker
What happened? Did it work?
01:17:59
Speaker
What is that face? what do Yellen, what is going on? ah do you want the good news? the Bad first, end with good. I was going to say the exact same thing.
01:18:16
Speaker
Okay, um, well, there were four different curses on Lu. i I only had one shot to do it. Why only one shot? Why not three more shots?
01:18:32
Speaker
Something doesn't want this to happen.
01:18:38
Speaker
Something malevolent.
01:18:42
Speaker
And I definitely... i think she might stay a bear. The good news... I successfully broke at least a couple.
01:19:00
Speaker
But i don't I don't know which ones they were. Do you know what any of them are? Besides her being a bear? Can i perhaps roll like an arcana or like a something like that to...
01:19:17
Speaker
Um, yeah, you you had interaction with the four curses that were inflicting her. Yeah, you you can try. Eleven.
01:19:29
Speaker
With an eleven. can I cost guidance? That's fine. Because I'm just now. Yeah, if you're joining the group, then absolutely. Thirteen. So a thirteen total, okay.
01:19:43
Speaker
I would say you you can't identify the one that you broke. It's extremely intricate and something you've never seen before. But you do know at least one of the other ones that you saw, or rather felt, and it was a communication curse.
01:20:02
Speaker
It's all you're able to get. All righty, well... There's one i can't really identify what it is. It's not something I've interacted with before, and it's very intricate.
01:20:16
Speaker
The other was a communication curse. That would probably be why Lou can't talk to us. me no What would a communication curse um You know, it can act very similar to an enchantment, um just from probably...
01:20:36
Speaker
This would be something that would be more from a dark entity, so it takes on more cursed energy. It wouldn't necessarily... There are curses that affect communication, you know, like literally stopping you from speaking, but this is not that. this is That would be a more of a physical curse, right?
01:20:49
Speaker
This is more of quite literally giving or taking away a type of communication. Is it possible to tell if this is like transmitting or if it's taking away?
01:21:03
Speaker
Not currently, no. You wouldn't be able to tell. You can tell the curse was not actively being used though. Like it was dormant. Oh. Okay.
01:21:15
Speaker
Okay. Okay. So this one in particular, it's from a darker entity and it has the ability to give a form of communication or take one away.
01:21:30
Speaker
Give. I do know that it's not active though. It's it's not in use. At least right now. Give like... Perhaps a transmission to somewhere else.
01:21:45
Speaker
Perhaps it not that. Perhaps like maybe... Like a sending message or or or like giving her a voice that she doesn't have or... It could be either one.
01:21:57
Speaker
Unfortunately. um I'm not sure. do You seem like you have thoughts, Calden.
01:22:06
Speaker
I don't know. i do have worries that it is a transmission and it's whatever a dark entity put it on it, on Lu. I perhaps was listening through it, but I i can't say for sure.
01:22:24
Speaker
That's what I worry about. Oh. Oh, no. Oh no. oh no um Yellen, he like points with two fingers and he like draws along, moves back to the shoulder blade.
01:22:39
Speaker
The curse, the activity point of the curse is here between the shoulder blades. Are you dragging your fingers actually across the fur and skin?
01:22:52
Speaker
Yes. Or just pointing? Okay, you feel the difference in the skin there.
01:22:58
Speaker
And there's something... Can I try to pull the fur aside? Yeah, Lou, as one of your hands touched that point, Lou lu kind of jerks away and looks looks back at you and growls.
01:23:13
Speaker
ah Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you.
01:23:17
Speaker
but There's a sensitive point. The skin feels different here as well. um I don't know if that means anything to you, but... It was that specific curse that was anchored to that point on her?
01:23:33
Speaker
Or are they all? or All of them were here.
01:23:39
Speaker
Hmm. Kalden, are you all right?
01:23:44
Speaker
Hmm. I think he's standing very straight. He's got very good posture right now, as one just does, you know, sometimes. You know, he's a good posture dude.
01:23:57
Speaker
and It seems it's scar tissue. Yeah, between the shoulder blades.
01:24:08
Speaker
Does it feel like surgical scar tissue or perhaps like like something was put in there physically? um No, no, definitely not.
01:24:20
Speaker
Very different. Okay. So not like a cut scar would feel? Not something like that. Does that spark any memories for Talira?
01:24:33
Speaker
I don't see why it would, to be honest. Not that I can think of. Okay. Yeah.
01:24:43
Speaker
Lou, after all this kind of the growl tends to go down. this This experience extremely uncomfortable. with Her shaking the entire time you were doing that. Yellen. And she kind of, at this point, realizing it's you're done, scurries over.
01:25:00
Speaker
Behind Kalden and Yellen.
01:25:04
Speaker
Talira? Sits, face in the room. Kalden and Talira? Yes, yes, thank you, thank you. That's what I meant. Kalden and Talira. Yep, not Yellen. Yellen was just the one doing it. Thank you.
01:25:16
Speaker
Scurried away from me, to me.
Contemplating Challenges & Outcomes
01:25:20
Speaker
Went in a circle, baby. Needed just a second to cool down.
01:25:26
Speaker
Kalden kneels down and like looks her the eye and is like, Are you okay? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Okay. People can't see me. She nods her head up and down pretty pretty quickly. Yeah.
01:25:43
Speaker
Small and quick move Insight check on the bear. is she actually okay, or is she just saying she's okay? Yeah, I would also like to insight this. And while I was reviewing my... was a seven.
01:25:57
Speaker
runes oh i might be able to help we shall find out i forgot that one of my runes gives me advantage on insight checks so i've been crippling myself hold on i'm dumb that was a 15. have proficiency in that nice good job
01:26:21
Speaker
Well, that was a two. And oh, that was also a 15, which makes it a thing. I think a 19 on the die or 19. You guys can you guys can tell this. She's shaken up. This is it.
01:26:32
Speaker
It may be brought back some memories. It was something about that spot is traumatic with Lou. Hey, hey, it's OK.
01:26:45
Speaker
She nods her head slowly and just kind of leans into you, Delira.
01:26:51
Speaker
Talira When she does so as well, her hand she slips and kind of falls a little bit embarrassingly and then um gets back up and fully cuddles.
01:27:06
Speaker
we We should probably send that message. Right. um What do you need to be able to reach Gwynedd? um Let me double check.
01:27:18
Speaker
I believe it should just be ah A description of her, or something of hers. Well, there are things she has helped enchant.
01:27:36
Speaker
That would probably work. Okay, um... Let me see what I have. Or you could also just describe her to me.
01:27:47
Speaker
Oh, well, that that works. I just want to make sure you get the right person. All right. I'm going to try to find her. Okay.
01:27:58
Speaker
You're able to connect. What would you like me to say? You have 25 words. Ask her if she has tried the elemental.
01:28:10
Speaker
Ask her how much time. You need to know if Siobhan... Can Siobhan... Has Siobhan fixed the waystone? Thank you, Calden.
01:28:29
Speaker
Tell her the foundations are destabilizing because of the Mistborn.
01:28:39
Speaker
This would be something she would want to know.
01:28:44
Speaker
So I reach out and I say, Yellen, speaking for Lyra, have you tried Elemental?
01:28:58
Speaker
Has Siobhan fixed Waystone?
01:29:07
Speaker
Mistborn are destabilizing Foundations.
01:29:18
Speaker
Siobhan, not ready.
01:29:23
Speaker
Tried all I can. Not sure.
01:29:31
Speaker
Problem for a later time. Do they know what Siobhan would need to fix this waystone? I can cast Sending again.
01:29:44
Speaker
Or do I get a response with Cindy? Yeah, that's why you just got one, so... Well, she said she wasn't ready, not that she didn't have components.
01:29:57
Speaker
Problem is the way stones. The knowledge has been lost. Somehow Gwyneth figured it out, and um apparently Siobhan was ready to learn, but this...
01:30:16
Speaker
Still learning how to activate it. you want me to ask how she can be ready? If there's anything we can do?
01:30:28
Speaker
You may need your magic. I can afford one more casting of spit of sending.
01:30:36
Speaker
Then yes. I'll cast again. there anything you can think of that you would need to ask? What does Shabon need to be ready?
01:30:48
Speaker
I say that and I'm going to look to you to see if there's anything you want me to add. You can use this time to add on a message to your mother.
01:31:00
Speaker
Tell mom i love her and I will be heading her way.
01:31:25
Speaker
I will relay the message.
01:31:30
Speaker
Hurry home, Talira.
01:31:39
Speaker
That is what I was worried about. Talira.
01:31:46
Speaker
Is Maeve coming with us when? Maeve is still on the fence. Maeve is still very much on the fence. so Technically, you guys don't need Maeve. Yelen might actually need Maeve. Yeah, I was actually going to say, Maeve, Yelen shouldn't go alone.
01:32:04
Speaker
No, you're right. we We need to keep our heads in the game when it comes to this. So, uh, we will make sure that you have an easy passage home as fast as possible, and I will continue on with Yellen.
Group Splits & Future Plans
01:32:20
Speaker
Good. I will see what I can find out about the...
01:32:26
Speaker
foundations, the plains from Gwyneth when I talk to her and to see if my tribe has any information that may be able to help.
01:32:38
Speaker
You all get the sense as you walk out to the front porch of Verruth's cabin, as the four party of four, technically five with Lou, is splitting up here on this front porch.
01:32:54
Speaker
You're not sure how long it's going to be before or if you see each other again.
