World of Ae'oene Prequel: Fire at Sea

S1 ยท World of Ae'oene: Stories of Legend
Avatar
3 Plays3 months ago

The very foundations of Ae'oene natural magics, those that originate from its arcane engines, the magics that bind themselves to the elements and co-exist into the Primordial Plane, have shown signs of unraveling. The complex system that keeps these energies flowing into the different states of nature in a balanced fashion is teetering on the edge of a free fall to total failure and this new age of the divine seem either ignorant or without a care.
The signs have been sporadic, wide-spread and hard to see but a few among the many have taken notice. As they begin to take action, making moves to bring balance to Ae'oene and its elements, the question hangs in the air..... Are they too late?

Introduction to 'World of Aeon' Podcast

00:00:10
Speaker
Welcome, everybody, to the World of Aeon, as we are starting off our first podcast on none other than May the 4th.
00:00:18
Speaker
May the 4th be with you.
00:00:20
Speaker
I am Woos, the GM, DM, whatever you want to call me here, and we have a fantastic story to tell.
00:00:27
Speaker
We're excited for everybody to...
00:00:31
Speaker
Listen to it.
00:00:32
Speaker
I've got a phenomenal cast here with me of some friends that I've made.
00:00:36
Speaker
Say hi, cast.
00:00:37
Speaker
Hi, cast.
00:00:38
Speaker
Hello.
00:00:38
Speaker
Hello.
00:00:41
Speaker
Sorry.
00:00:42
Speaker
It's all good.
00:00:43
Speaker
It's all good.
00:00:44
Speaker
Like we said, first episodes of podcasts are always a little rocky of a start.
00:00:50
Speaker
Anyway, so let's go around the table and introduce ourselves to all of our listeners.
00:00:54
Speaker
Let's go ahead and start with the ladies, of course.
00:00:56
Speaker
We've got multiple of them, but let's start across the pond a bit because we've got our resident Australian

Mystery of the Missing Children

00:01:02
Speaker
with us.
00:01:02
Speaker
Oh, God.
00:01:04
Speaker
Awesome.
00:01:06
Speaker
Shoot, who am I again?
00:01:08
Speaker
I just...
00:01:11
Speaker
I guess Saf, the resident Australian.
00:01:15
Speaker
Yeah, token.
00:01:17
Speaker
I don't know.
00:01:19
Speaker
I have weird weather and exist, so yeah.
00:01:24
Speaker
All right.
00:01:26
Speaker
And next up, Rennie.
00:01:31
Speaker
Hi, I'm Rennie Armas.
00:01:33
Speaker
Just give us a little fun fact about yourself.
00:01:35
Speaker
Fun fact, I stopped growing in middle school.
00:01:44
Speaker
All right, and last but not least of our women of the group.
00:01:49
Speaker
Hi, I'm MJ Gunther.
00:01:51
Speaker
I was an opera singer for 20 years, still do it some, and then moved into voice acting work.
00:02:01
Speaker
I'm your local

Journey Across Creole Gulf

00:02:02
Speaker
chaos gremlin and absolute disaster by.
00:02:09
Speaker
Mood.
00:02:10
Speaker
Yeah.
00:02:10
Speaker
Love it.
00:02:13
Speaker
All right, and our favorite Mr. Dirt, as we like to call him sometimes.
00:02:22
Speaker
I'm Jack Baldwin.
00:02:23
Speaker
You probably know me from your local 7-Eleven at the Slurpee machine.
00:02:26
Speaker
And I can't wait to play the cleric.
00:02:32
Speaker
Fantastic, fantastic.
00:02:33
Speaker
And I am Curtis Woosley, otherwise known as Woos, our GM of The Table and creator of Aeon.
00:02:40
Speaker
So happy you guys can be listening to our story today.
00:02:42
Speaker
We don't really have much of an intro today.
00:02:43
Speaker
started so we're just gonna get right into it for you guys.
00:02:46
Speaker
Let's just do that.
00:02:49
Speaker
After leaving a little prequel story that some of our viewers may or may not get the chance to listen to someday, there was a hole in a local lumber outpost left as five children were missing and never found.
00:03:10
Speaker
Word got out after this phenomenon had been happening for years and years and years.
00:03:17
Speaker
And finally, something's being done about it as the lord of the country has sent an adventuring party to go investigate.
00:03:26
Speaker
And that brings us to our little group of characters.
00:03:30
Speaker
As they've been on a boat going across the Creole Gulf in the country of Nitro Tare, sailing for a majority of the day at this point,
00:03:40
Speaker
Having some of them just met, some of them having been friends for a bit.
00:03:46
Speaker
But as we zoom in on this cutter, zooming across the water with its enchanted holes to lower the amount of drag, it's Wind Whistler, as it's called, manning the runes that even when there is no wind, it creates its own.
00:04:05
Speaker
A very expensive vessel, a nice vessel.
00:04:08
Speaker
Luckily,
00:04:09
Speaker
contracted by the Creole government to allow quick passage across this extremely large Gulf.
00:04:17
Speaker
And when I say the Creole Gulf, I don't just mean like a lake.
00:04:22
Speaker
More like the Gulf of Mexico, quite literally that size.
00:04:26
Speaker
And as you all are zooming along, fairly good weather.
00:04:29
Speaker
We zoom in on this little boat of eight crew, and there's four other beings that kind of stand out amongst the crew.
00:04:38
Speaker
MJ, what is your hulking character doing as you've been on the boat for about eight hours now at this point, having met the crew, kind of settling in?
00:04:48
Speaker
Well, you see a giant mass of a Goliath woman standing at the bow of the ship, um...
00:05:02
Speaker
Doing a Captain Morgan-like pose, looking out over the horizon with this giant grin on her face like a dog sticking its head out of a car window.
00:05:16
Speaker
She is so excited.
00:05:21
Speaker
She has her shield strapped to her arm, doesn't want to lose it over the boat.
00:05:28
Speaker
And she is covered in weapons all over, strapped to her.
00:05:34
Speaker
Her main weapon is a battle axe that she has at her hip.
00:05:40
Speaker
But she has a larger great axe across her back, as well as a bow.
00:05:45
Speaker
Because...
00:05:46
Speaker
That's what you do.

Meet the Ship's Crew

00:05:48
Speaker
She's still got her heavy armor on.
00:05:52
Speaker
It is a blackish metal with a green shimmer in this particular light with ornate pauldrons that have runic etchings on them showing off her specialization as a rune knight.
00:06:15
Speaker
Very nice.
00:06:17
Speaker
And as you are taking your fantastic Captain Morgan pose at the front of this cutter, zooming across the water, I can only assume your friend is nearby.
00:06:32
Speaker
What is Thalira's friend doing?
00:06:36
Speaker
Kalden is standing pretty close to her, decidedly less dog in the wind.
00:06:44
Speaker
looking a little bit more unsure about his surroundings.
00:06:48
Speaker
This is one of very few times, if not the first time, he's been on a boat.
00:06:54
Speaker
So he is a fairly short high elf.
00:07:02
Speaker
He has...
00:07:04
Speaker
daggers strapped to his sides as any rogue must.
00:07:09
Speaker
But he has one of them in his left hand and he's kind of tossing it up and down and letting it flip around and catching it.
00:07:16
Speaker
Trying to look as casual as he can while he scans around decidedly feeling not casual at all.
00:07:24
Speaker
All right.
00:07:25
Speaker
Very, very different from your friend from what it sounds like.
00:07:28
Speaker
You know what?
00:07:29
Speaker
We balance each other.
00:07:31
Speaker
Exactly.
00:07:32
Speaker
Gotta have that.
00:07:32
Speaker
Gotta have that in the party.
00:07:34
Speaker
I'm sure from our descriptions, one of our other characters here on the boat, probably a bit more solemn, keeping to himself.
00:07:44
Speaker
Jack, as we move about on the boat, what is your character doing and who is he?
00:07:50
Speaker
Yes, Yellen Yucal is a crystal tiefling, and at the moment, he is half-heartedly sitting on the edge of, or not on the edge, but right next to the wall of the boat, after he spent four of the eight hours heaving over the side.
00:08:06
Speaker
He looks a bit shaken up, as do his clothes.
00:08:09
Speaker
He's wearing darker grays and blues of the anima clergy, and underneath there is a breastplate beneath that.
00:08:18
Speaker
All right.
00:08:19
Speaker
Obviously not...
00:08:21
Speaker
Doesn't have a good set of sea legs under him.
00:08:24
Speaker
Not a sea worthy fellow.
00:08:28
Speaker
No worries.
00:08:29
Speaker
And last but not least, to kind of flesh out our party who took upon this contract to investigate these missing children is someone who is strong hearted and very, very capable.
00:08:41
Speaker
And I would assume looks it, but maybe you can fill us in a little bit more, Sap.
00:08:46
Speaker
Yes, so Maeve is probably sitting down.
00:08:50
Speaker
She's full armour, full knight gear with red and gold padding underneath some silver and gold.
00:08:58
Speaker
She would most likely just be
00:09:01
Speaker
polishing her swords, making sure everything's ready just in case anything happens.
00:09:05
Speaker
She's there.
00:09:06
Speaker
She's ready to fight.
00:09:08
Speaker
She's got short blonde hair, wavy, half elf and brown eyes.
00:09:16
Speaker
All right.
00:09:17
Speaker
Very nice.
00:09:20
Speaker
As you all seemingly have kind of taken your places, you're getting comfortable, or maybe someone uncomfortable, at sea here.
00:09:28
Speaker
The captain of this vessel who you have met, there's eight of these crew, and the captain, Silane Driftwake, a triton of a deep blue skin, littered with scars even across his bald head.
00:09:41
Speaker
He kind of has very similar to Yellen, kind of like a solemn kind of...
00:09:47
Speaker
vibe to him, kind of a feel.
00:09:49
Speaker
Although he carries himself with strength,

Encounter with the Fire Elemental

00:09:52
Speaker
it is a humble strength.
00:09:55
Speaker
As he approaches you yelling, My goodness, don't have a pair of sea legs, do you?
00:10:03
Speaker
I don't think tea things were meant for the ocean.
00:10:06
Speaker
Especially not this one, at least.
00:10:09
Speaker
No, we'll hang in there.
00:10:10
Speaker
We'll get you there in the right time.
00:10:12
Speaker
This boat is faster than most.
00:10:15
Speaker
I assume you work.
00:10:18
Speaker
I certainly hope so.
00:10:20
Speaker
We'll get to that.
00:10:21
Speaker
No worries.
00:10:22
Speaker
In the meantime, Ewan, he kind of like addresses the whole boat at this point, raising his voice.
00:10:27
Speaker
In the meantime, you all are welcome to take rest on the second deck if need be.
00:10:32
Speaker
The quartermaster will be cooking up a pot of stew here for tonight.
00:10:37
Speaker
Should be ready in just a few hours.
00:10:39
Speaker
I believe sunset is just about four hours away.
00:10:42
Speaker
So hang tight.
00:10:45
Speaker
Guys, keep an eye on the cook.
00:10:46
Speaker
If he has a wooden leg, don't trust him.
00:10:54
Speaker
He's not the one who has a wooden leg, but somebody does.
00:10:56
Speaker
Oh no!
00:10:57
Speaker
Don't trust him!
00:11:03
Speaker
You see the crew's kind of settled in as well.
00:11:05
Speaker
Like most of their work's been done at this point.
00:11:07
Speaker
They they're set on a course and a lot of them have kind of they brought up barrels, things like in crates to sit on.
00:11:12
Speaker
They've started gambling, playing some games, sleeping, reading a variety of things.
00:11:17
Speaker
You've met the crew by this point as well.
00:11:19
Speaker
So I'll go ahead and introduce them.
00:11:21
Speaker
You just met the captain, Saline Driftwake.
00:11:24
Speaker
Or sorry, Silane.
00:11:26
Speaker
Mispronouncing already.
00:11:27
Speaker
You've got the bosun, Croci, as he's known, as he's a grung.
00:11:30
Speaker
He is a lime green skin.
00:11:33
Speaker
He's got a bit of a loud voice and like a kind of smirky, sly smile to him at most point.
00:11:38
Speaker
But he mainly handles the discipline, kind of the deck coordination between all of the...
00:11:43
Speaker
all of the crew here.
00:11:44
Speaker
You've got the navigator, Marla Quince, who is a, um, on the shorter side of a human.
00:11:51
Speaker
Um, she's only got one eye.
00:11:53
Speaker
She has an eye patch over her other, um, with a tight, keeping her caramel hair into a very tight bun.
00:11:59
Speaker
The crew's kind of already told you how she, she has this, this knack,
00:12:03
Speaker
for detecting the subtle changes in the magnetic flux of the two magnetic poles of Aeon, allowing her to be extremely precise in reading the compasses.
00:12:14
Speaker
She is said to have a thousand maps in her head.
00:12:17
Speaker
Quartermaster, Nibble Stitch.
00:12:19
Speaker
Another grung.
00:12:20
Speaker
Sorry.
00:12:20
Speaker
This one, a Nibble Stitch.
00:12:23
Speaker
Nibble Stitch.
00:12:25
Speaker
Nibble.
00:12:25
Speaker
Nibble.
00:12:26
Speaker
Nibble.
00:12:26
Speaker
Nibble Stitch.
00:12:28
Speaker
Nibble.
00:12:31
Speaker
nibble every time and i bb l e stitch no that's not what i wrote down nibble stitch a tiny blue skinned um with like black dots of a um of a frog person um is the quartermaster always um this is also the cook um
00:12:53
Speaker
But you had seen them back at the port as they were undocking, going through and checking off all of the supplies that were needed and things like that, making sure to keep good documents and notes.
00:13:08
Speaker
All of their notes kept in a journal that's bound by dried kelp, actually.
00:13:11
Speaker
The first mate is Orenth Vassal, another triton.
00:13:15
Speaker
This one of a bit of a lighter blue color with freckles on their shoulders and face.
00:13:21
Speaker
A very broad-shouldered,
00:13:24
Speaker
Seems very loyal from what you've been able to see over the past eight hours.
00:13:28
Speaker
Very... Constantly being... Keeping an eye on the captain for if anything is needed.
00:13:36
Speaker
You've got the surgeon, which is known as Doc, but is Arlen Mott.
00:13:40
Speaker
He is also a human.
00:13:43
Speaker
Smokes seaweed cigars and is a bit older.
00:13:47
Speaker
Has the whole, like, horseshoe hair, grayed hair kind of look around him.
00:13:52
Speaker
And this, your doctor...
00:13:55
Speaker
Has a leg of enchanted driftwood.
00:14:00
Speaker
Don't trust him.
00:14:02
Speaker
He's done good.
00:14:02
Speaker
That's that treasure.
00:14:04
Speaker
You've got the deckhand, Sori Ren, another human.
00:14:07
Speaker
She's very young, wide-eyed.
00:14:09
Speaker
Looks like, frankly, looks dang near like a teenager.
00:14:13
Speaker
And very well might be.
00:14:14
Speaker
You're not really sure.
00:14:15
Speaker
But seems to be very observant, picking up on things.
00:14:20
Speaker
What position did you say she was again?
00:14:22
Speaker
She's the deckhand.
00:14:23
Speaker
She's just kind of taking care of all the odds and ends.
00:14:26
Speaker
And last but not least, you have the Wind Whistler, which is also a grung, is a lime yellow frog person.
00:14:33
Speaker
And if you noticed that she doesn't have a name, nor does she speak.
00:14:40
Speaker
What do they just call her frog?
00:14:42
Speaker
She communicates through, she carries a flute around, and she uses body language and gestures to talk as well as kind of communicates through tones of her flute.
00:14:51
Speaker
And you've also noticed as she plays the flute in the times where the winds kind of died down, the way she plays her flute, the sails listened as they filled with air at times when seemingly there wasn't that much.
00:15:07
Speaker
A weather whisperer.
00:15:08
Speaker
Nice.
00:15:10
Speaker
Indeed.
00:15:11
Speaker
The position known as the wind whistler.
00:15:13
Speaker
Um, little fun, fun lore to pick up on.
00:15:16
Speaker
Um, but yeah, so you guys are traveling.
00:15:18
Speaker
They've been, they've told you guys it's normally, this is about a nine and a half day travel time via, via boat.
00:15:23
Speaker
But luckily with the, uh, boat you're on, it's only supposed to take about seven days time.
00:15:29
Speaker
Um, now, obviously, uh, we haven't gone over how we're going to be doing travel.
00:15:34
Speaker
Um, and neither have our listeners learned, but this being very early, we're going to kind of be brushing through it.
00:15:39
Speaker
Um,
00:15:40
Speaker
So don't worry, listeners, you're not going to have to listen to seven days worth of travel episodes to start with.
00:15:45
Speaker
But we are starting on a boat, and we do have a little bit of time.
00:15:49
Speaker
So for our characters here, our players, everything seems to be calm.
00:15:57
Speaker
All of our...
00:15:59
Speaker
crew seeming to go about their their day with the things they enjoy games gambling you uh can see the wind whistler opening up a book and reading before we move on is there anything that any of you all would like to do as far as the crew were traveling goes so lira what are you doing right now
00:16:24
Speaker
Well, since you asked... Talira, still that puppy dog, looks over at Kalden and, uh... It smells like fish shit.
00:16:40
Speaker
But that horizon... Beautiful.
00:16:44
Speaker
Oh, bird!
00:16:50
Speaker
I don't keep your mouth open when you look up at the birds flying over you, please.
00:16:57
Speaker
Oh, yes.
00:16:58
Speaker
Good idea.
00:17:00
Speaker
I don't want to have to figure out how to clean that out of your mouth.
00:17:07
Speaker
That would be unpleasant, yes.
00:17:13
Speaker
As you two seem to be the most lively of the group, the Quartermaster, Nibble Stitch...
00:17:19
Speaker
Nipple stitch.
00:17:22
Speaker
The very small blue and black rung.
00:17:25
Speaker
Kind of comes up to you with her journal.
00:17:29
Speaker
I believe that we are dropping you guys off.
00:17:30
Speaker
How long do you expect to be on your journey so we can know how long we need to be docked?
00:17:34
Speaker
Just trying to get an idea of our schedule.
00:17:36
Speaker
We have a few more stops we're going to make before coming back for you.
00:17:40
Speaker
Talira looks at Calden.
00:17:44
Speaker
Uh... days?
00:17:47
Speaker
Weeks, months, I don't know.
00:17:49
Speaker
However long it takes.
00:17:52
Speaker
Okay, um, Kaladin was your name, correct?
00:17:55
Speaker
Yes.
00:17:56
Speaker
Do you have a better answer for me?
00:17:58
Speaker
No.
00:18:01
Speaker
Oh, lovely!
00:18:02
Speaker
Out of character, no!
00:18:04
Speaker
Okay.
00:18:05
Speaker
In character, no.
00:18:07
Speaker
In character, baby.
00:18:09
Speaker
With the stops that we need to make, we can take longer if need be.
00:18:15
Speaker
How about I just give you a time limit?
00:18:17
Speaker
Would that work?
00:18:19
Speaker
That works.
00:18:21
Speaker
Glad to hear it.
00:18:21
Speaker
Okay.
00:18:22
Speaker
I like to keep a tight schedule.
00:18:24
Speaker
How about six days?
00:18:26
Speaker
After we drop you off, we'll be back at the docks.
00:18:28
Speaker
Why not make it an even seven?
00:18:31
Speaker
An even?
00:18:35
Speaker
I believe seven is an odd number.
00:18:40
Speaker
He's not well-traveled.
00:18:41
Speaker
If you want me to push it to a full week, I can go to 10 days.
00:18:47
Speaker
But that's the most I can do.
00:18:49
Speaker
Let's do a week.
00:18:51
Speaker
Okay.
00:18:52
Speaker
But in that case, I will not be able to wait very long if we're doing that much.
00:18:56
Speaker
So you're going to have a full 36 hours a day.
00:18:58
Speaker
Otherwise, you're going to have to find your own way home.
00:19:00
Speaker
That sounds reasonable.
00:19:02
Speaker
Deal.
00:19:04
Speaker
Okay, I'll mock it down.
00:19:06
Speaker
She, like, turns and starts to waddle away.

Battle Aboard the Ship

00:19:08
Speaker
You hear her... With, like, every step of her webbed feet.
00:19:15
Speaker
Calden throws himself overboard.
00:19:22
Speaker
Oh, man.
00:19:26
Speaker
As the day goes on, you have a few more interactions like that, but they're just short.
00:19:31
Speaker
The crew...
00:19:32
Speaker
not seeming to open up their transport ship.
00:19:35
Speaker
This is common for them.
00:19:36
Speaker
They get the transport people all the time.
00:19:38
Speaker
There's no need in getting close to it.
00:19:40
Speaker
So they kind of keep their distance for the most part.
00:19:42
Speaker
Ooh, excuse me.
00:19:45
Speaker
And it's only a couple of hours until nighttime.
00:19:48
Speaker
Nighttime comes.
00:19:49
Speaker
You all are able to have a little bit of seaweed stew.
00:19:52
Speaker
Not the greatest tasting.
00:19:53
Speaker
A little bland.
00:19:54
Speaker
Very salty.
00:19:55
Speaker
And night comes.
00:19:57
Speaker
Everybody kind of takes their positions.
00:19:59
Speaker
The navigator, Marla, ends up staying up on deck and everybody kind of finds their way to their beds.
00:20:06
Speaker
And there is a compartment that was kind of set aside for you guys.
00:20:09
Speaker
It's a little tight fit for everybody, but just enough room for some bed rolls for all four of you to be able to fit.
00:20:14
Speaker
You all can lay down for a little bit of rest.
00:20:20
Speaker
As you all get in there, you realize that although it's four bedrolls, it's four normal-sized bedrolls.
00:20:26
Speaker
As you're all trying to fit Thalira, you might have to get a little creative.
00:20:31
Speaker
I mean, I can, like, push mine to yours, and then I'll not use mine, because I can just kind of, like, lean against a wall and...
00:20:43
Speaker
I mean, let me double check my inventory because if I have my traveling gear, then I'd have my own bedroll.
00:20:53
Speaker
No, what I'm saying is the room is just enough size.
00:20:55
Speaker
Four or four bedrolls.
00:20:57
Speaker
Yeah.
00:20:59
Speaker
They're not size inclusive.
00:21:00
Speaker
Yeah, and the four bedrolls are normal size.
00:21:03
Speaker
So, Mike, can you get a little... Yeah.
00:21:06
Speaker
I mean, we get cozy.
00:21:07
Speaker
That's what happens.
00:21:08
Speaker
She gets to curl up.
00:21:10
Speaker
Mm-hmm.
00:21:11
Speaker
All right.
00:21:13
Speaker
Well, everybody gets cozy and right as about like you're some of you even do fall asleep, but right as rest starts to overtake.
00:21:20
Speaker
You hear you hear from the deck.
00:21:24
Speaker
Oi, cast to the deck, cast to the deck.
00:21:27
Speaker
Seems like something's happened.
00:21:30
Speaker
Maeve shoots straight up as soon as she hears anything of that tone.
00:21:36
Speaker
Putting on armor.
00:21:37
Speaker
You hear something.
00:21:39
Speaker
Crew to the deck.
00:21:41
Speaker
It seems like something is happening.
00:21:43
Speaker
We should get ready.
00:21:44
Speaker
Get into prepared just in case.
00:21:47
Speaker
Yes, definitely.
00:21:48
Speaker
Let's get up there.
00:21:50
Speaker
Maeve puts on her armor.
00:21:52
Speaker
Fine.
00:21:52
Speaker
We should do that.
00:21:54
Speaker
We should get up.
00:21:55
Speaker
As you get up, you can see this crew is being a government vessel as well.
00:21:59
Speaker
Very well trained as they are already ahead of you and up the stairs up to the main deck.
00:22:07
Speaker
And as soon as you're coming up it,
00:22:11
Speaker
You can see that a little bit of a drizzle has started over the past hour or so.
00:22:16
Speaker
Just a light rain.
00:22:18
Speaker
But other than that, the winds very calm, so much so that their sails are magically being filled.
00:22:25
Speaker
The sea calm as well, allowing for fast travel.
00:22:29
Speaker
And a very slight bit of fog rolled in.
00:22:34
Speaker
Is there like a tension in the air, like someone's preparing for something?
00:22:38
Speaker
You can see the crew.
00:22:41
Speaker
Surprisingly not prepping, but all at the front of the ship.
00:22:45
Speaker
Staring over the front, and it's, of course, the sea.
00:22:48
Speaker
I don't know if anybody has been at the sea at night.
00:22:51
Speaker
It is dark.
00:22:52
Speaker
There is no light.
00:22:54
Speaker
As the, I think, if I remember correctly, six or eight lanterns that light the edges of the ship and the deck.
00:23:04
Speaker
Past an eerie glow through the very mild fog and across the calm wake of the ocean.
00:23:11
Speaker
of this gulf.
00:23:13
Speaker
There seems to be a glow in the distance, flickering of yellow and orange, red.
00:23:20
Speaker
We're not meant to be near land yet.
00:23:25
Speaker
Maeve runs up to the quartermaster.
00:23:28
Speaker
What's going on here?
00:23:30
Speaker
Um, honestly, we're not sure.
00:23:32
Speaker
Um, we're nowhere near any of the islands in the gulf.
00:23:35
Speaker
Um, we're just as confused as you are.
00:23:39
Speaker
We're set to
00:23:41
Speaker
On course, I think, to intercept it.
00:23:44
Speaker
Whatever it is.
00:23:47
Speaker
What is that, uh, glowing?
00:23:54
Speaker
We don't know.
00:23:56
Speaker
Well, shit.
00:23:58
Speaker
Could it be a lantern, like the ones you have?
00:24:00
Speaker
Except, well, on another ship.
00:24:02
Speaker
It's too big.
00:24:04
Speaker
Well, that would have to be a real large lantern to put off a glow like that from this distance.
00:24:11
Speaker
Does anyone have a spyglass?
00:24:17
Speaker
And the navigator, Marla goes, yes, I tried.
00:24:24
Speaker
It blinded me.
00:24:27
Speaker
The one eye.
00:24:28
Speaker
Marla's the one with the eye patch over one of her eye sockets.
00:24:31
Speaker
She's kind of like squinting with the one eye.
00:24:34
Speaker
Yeah, I don't really want to do that again.
00:24:38
Speaker
That's rough.
00:24:43
Speaker
Yeah, that's rude.
00:24:45
Speaker
As you all are still racing across the being an ocean, calm waters still has, you know, there's not like calm where you can see your reflection by any means, but for an ocean, it's calm.
00:24:56
Speaker
As you're racing across these waters on the cutter, getting closer and closer.
00:25:00
Speaker
You never want the ocean to be too calm.
00:25:03
Speaker
Never.
00:25:05
Speaker
As you are racing closer and closer, the little bit of a drizzle whipping into your face, the flickering becomes larger.
00:25:12
Speaker
Reds, oranges, and yellows becomes larger and starts to take form.
00:25:15
Speaker
It's almost as if it has limbs.
00:25:21
Speaker
Oh, shit.
00:25:23
Speaker
It seems to be walking or hovering?
00:25:27
Speaker
You can't really tell.
00:25:28
Speaker
As if legs form and then unform, getting closer and closer.
00:25:32
Speaker
Does anyone here have any history in the country of Yor or on the primordial plane?
00:25:42
Speaker
No.
00:25:43
Speaker
No.
00:25:45
Speaker
The fire variety.
00:25:47
Speaker
Nope.
00:25:48
Speaker
No, unless any passed through where I was living for a while, which could be the case, but... Knowing your backstory, I'd say that's a no.
00:25:57
Speaker
Um...
00:25:59
Speaker
For all of you know, and some of you may have read enough to know what elementals look like, like in Nitro Tari, for instance, where you're at, water elementals are somewhat common.
00:26:12
Speaker
The only elemental that would really, would probably show up here.
00:26:17
Speaker
And they generally all take similar shapes.
00:26:20
Speaker
They're humanoid, in some shape or fashion, whether it be arms, legs, head.
00:26:25
Speaker
And in this case, it kind of looks like one of fire, as there are
00:26:30
Speaker
arm limbs that kind of get lost in the flames at some points, but it's still the limbs show and a hand shows as it seems to be just traveling across the surface of this water, the legs again, forming and then unforming, going back into like a whirlwind of flame.
00:26:45
Speaker
And as you get closer, you can see it's the flames are flickering and
00:26:50
Speaker
seeming like not strong, yet this elemental is massive.
00:26:55
Speaker
This is not your garden variety elemental.
00:26:58
Speaker
This is an extremely large one, and for a fire one, as you hear the bosun croci, the lime green grunga.
00:27:06
Speaker
Now what is a fire elemental doing out here?
00:27:08
Speaker
I've never ever seen a nichotori.
00:27:14
Speaker
Can they usually hover over water?
00:27:19
Speaker
It's
00:27:20
Speaker
Not for long.
00:27:21
Speaker
Counterproductive.
00:27:23
Speaker
Yeah, it seems a little dangerous for it, I would think.
00:27:29
Speaker
I would think so, too.
00:27:31
Speaker
Is the boat fireproof?
00:27:32
Speaker
Then why is it here?
00:27:34
Speaker
Well, it is made of wood.
00:27:37
Speaker
Oh, fuck.
00:27:39
Speaker
Oh, shit.
00:27:40
Speaker
That's, um... The captain.
00:27:45
Speaker
Marla!
00:27:46
Speaker
Um...
00:27:47
Speaker
Take the reins.
00:27:47
Speaker
Let's navigate away from this.
00:27:49
Speaker
No use in risking it.
00:27:50
Speaker
Do you have a water elemental on board?
00:27:55
Speaker
No.
00:27:56
Speaker
Water elementals, as you've seen in Nidrotari, but even then, they're rare.
00:28:00
Speaker
Let me reiterate.
00:28:01
Speaker
Someone who can use water with magic.
00:28:05
Speaker
Magic?
00:28:07
Speaker
Magic water.
00:28:08
Speaker
The captain himself kind of like being able to take some water off of
00:28:14
Speaker
grung, as they generally are very moist, kind of like takes him off into his hand and drops it.
00:28:21
Speaker
I've got that covered.
00:28:23
Speaker
It would be best to keep an eye on the fire elemental.
00:28:26
Speaker
If it comes close, make sure anywhere he touches, put water down.
00:28:30
Speaker
Absolutely.
00:28:32
Speaker
This is wild.
00:28:34
Speaker
I've never seen anything like this.
00:28:37
Speaker
They're not...
00:28:39
Speaker
They don't have the connection to this region of the Earth.
00:28:43
Speaker
Of the planets.
00:28:44
Speaker
Either way, steer clear, and we don't want that thing to be aggressive.
00:28:49
Speaker
And sure enough, as he says that, you see a pair of eyes form at the top of this being and turn towards the boat.
00:28:59
Speaker
As you're within around 400 or 500 feet now at this point, as Marla is yanking the helm to the side to try to get out of the way of this.
00:29:08
Speaker
Are these creatures sent to you?
00:29:12
Speaker
Does anyone know?
00:29:14
Speaker
Sentient.
00:29:15
Speaker
Sentient.
00:29:17
Speaker
I English well.
00:29:19
Speaker
I've never heard an elemental speak common, no.
00:29:23
Speaker
I'm sure if they do speak, it's nothing like our language, so...
00:29:28
Speaker
Yeah, I don't have any idea.
00:29:31
Speaker
I guess we're about to find out.
00:29:33
Speaker
It seems the elemental starts to move towards the boat.
00:29:36
Speaker
And not just towards it where it is, but rather smart enough to know that it doesn't move directly towards, but rather move in the angle that it will intercept you.
00:29:45
Speaker
And it throws out a bolt of fire as it breaks towards the boat.
00:29:50
Speaker
And it is not just any bolt of fire, it is large.
00:29:55
Speaker
And some would say, in charge.
00:29:56
Speaker
Can I get everybody to throw me a dexterity saving throw?
00:30:01
Speaker
Oh, God.
00:30:05
Speaker
Guys, I have a chance.
00:30:08
Speaker
Oh, God.
00:30:09
Speaker
23.
00:30:09
Speaker
Dex saving seven.
00:30:12
Speaker
Seven.
00:30:24
Speaker
So we've got a 23, a 7.
00:30:25
Speaker
A 4.
00:30:29
Speaker
You got a 4?
00:30:35
Speaker
I did?
00:30:37
Speaker
Oh, that was not me.
00:30:38
Speaker
Ouch.
00:30:38
Speaker
I did indeed.
00:30:39
Speaker
I got a 4.
00:30:41
Speaker
Oh no.
00:30:44
Speaker
Fireball.
00:30:49
Speaker
Here we go.
00:30:51
Speaker
Oh, well, this works.
00:30:55
Speaker
Very excited to die straight away.
00:30:57
Speaker
As long as it's not rolling.
00:31:01
Speaker
You know what?
00:31:01
Speaker
Okay, fuck it.
00:31:02
Speaker
I'm going to roll it in roll 20.
00:31:03
Speaker
It's a d20 plus two.
00:31:07
Speaker
That's an eight.
00:31:08
Speaker
All right.
00:31:09
Speaker
As this bolt of fire comes and hits the deck, as a fireball explodes, catching almost all of you.
00:31:20
Speaker
as anybody that got below a 20 takes a full 23 sorry not 23 27 points of fire damage and half as much on a save out 23 anything lower than a 20 I'm sorry what is the DC save let me look again no sorry anything lower than a 20 but it is 27 points of fire damage yes and I take no damage I'm pretty sure
00:31:48
Speaker
Yep, no damage.
00:31:50
Speaker
Lucky you, as you see it coming and I managed to get out of the way.
00:31:54
Speaker
And you see that about half the crew was caught up in this as well.
00:31:59
Speaker
All hands on deck, Wind Whistler.
00:32:02
Speaker
Give it all you got.
00:32:04
Speaker
As the sails fill with more wind than you thought possible.
00:32:10
Speaker
As the Wind Whistler grung, the one who doesn't even have a name, just known as Wind Whistler.
00:32:15
Speaker
has to sit down crisscross and concentrate, and she's whipping her flute in a flurry of notes.
00:32:22
Speaker
If I could have you guys roll initiative.
00:32:27
Speaker
Talera, are you okay?
00:32:30
Speaker
Uh, fine.
00:32:33
Speaker
I smell like a fire.
00:32:34
Speaker
That was a 21 for initiative.
00:32:39
Speaker
I am incapable of rolling high on initiative ever in my life.
00:32:46
Speaker
And I don't know why.
00:32:48
Speaker
I have plus six to initiative.
00:32:50
Speaker
I rolled a one.
00:32:54
Speaker
I rolled an eight.
00:32:56
Speaker
I'm sorry.
00:32:56
Speaker
I have plus five.
00:32:58
Speaker
Ooh, I'm blue.
00:33:03
Speaker
I like blue.
00:33:05
Speaker
I love that.
00:33:07
Speaker
Love that for you.
00:33:09
Speaker
I love that for me, too.
00:33:10
Speaker
It's my favorite color.
00:33:12
Speaker
Not that shade of blue, but... Yep.
00:33:17
Speaker
Because they are not normal tieflings.
00:33:20
Speaker
Oh, by the way, I got a two for initiative.
00:33:22
Speaker
Okay.
00:33:23
Speaker
Let me go ahead and go through that and get that going now.
00:33:26
Speaker
Got the cleric curse.
00:33:27
Speaker
At least I'm not dead last.
00:33:30
Speaker
Okay.
00:33:30
Speaker
So, initiative 20 and higher.
00:33:32
Speaker
Talera.
00:33:36
Speaker
What'd you get? 21.
00:33:39
Speaker
21 for... We're, uh... 15 to 20.
00:33:44
Speaker
I think I got 18.
00:33:45
Speaker
18 for Maeve.
00:33:50
Speaker
Uh, 10 to 15.
00:33:53
Speaker
Oh, wait.
00:33:53
Speaker
I'm sorry.
00:33:53
Speaker
I rolled an 18 on that.
00:33:56
Speaker
Oh, wait.
00:33:56
Speaker
No.
00:33:56
Speaker
No, I did roll a 21.
00:33:59
Speaker
That's what it was.
00:33:59
Speaker
I figured out the dex save, and I was looking at that roll.
00:34:02
Speaker
So, yes.
00:34:03
Speaker
21 for initiative.
00:34:04
Speaker
Okay.
00:34:05
Speaker
Uh, I believe it was 6 for... Uh, Calvin?
00:34:08
Speaker
Yeah.
00:34:09
Speaker
And then four for Yellen?
00:34:12
Speaker
No, two.
00:34:13
Speaker
Two.
00:34:14
Speaker
Oof.
00:34:16
Speaker
Oh, boy.
00:34:17
Speaker
That cleric dex.
00:34:19
Speaker
All right.
00:34:19
Speaker
So as you guys near this fire elemental, this grand fire elemental, mind you, it is not anything that is small in any manner whatsoever.
00:34:30
Speaker
And it seems on a perfect collision course for the boat.
00:34:34
Speaker
And there's no escaping it as the captain, knowing what this is going to mean.
00:34:38
Speaker
As the initiative begins, yells out, kind of yells out, we're in for it.
00:34:43
Speaker
All sails full stop.
00:34:45
Speaker
Battle positions.
00:34:46
Speaker
As the grung gets up and the sails fall with no wind in them.
00:34:51
Speaker
And first up in the initiative order is the elemental is it rolled a natural 20.
00:34:58
Speaker
Unfortunately for you guys.
00:35:02
Speaker
You notice though, I will say as you're looking at this fire elemental, it's although it's large in size, it looks like this, it's grand fire elemental.
00:35:09
Speaker
Like it's not just run of the mill.
00:35:11
Speaker
It, it seems weakened.
00:35:13
Speaker
It's in a light rain.
00:35:14
Speaker
It's on the ocean.
00:35:17
Speaker
Um, it, it does not look like it's in full form.
00:35:19
Speaker
And it, it, it seems if it had shoulders and it kind of does kind of, they're like slumped.
00:35:24
Speaker
It's moving slow.
00:35:25
Speaker
The, the flames are like flickering like a candle that's about to run out.
00:35:30
Speaker
Um,
00:35:33
Speaker
It looks in rough shape.
00:35:38
Speaker
But as it goes first, it is going to, and this is a speedy boy, it is going to go ahead and move its 70 feet of movement speed.
00:35:57
Speaker
And as it gets to the front of the ship to, as this thing has become extremely aggressive, it is going to let out just a devastating wave of heat and flame across the entire ship.
00:36:14
Speaker
As it is going to, it's going to let out a 120 foot radius.
00:36:19
Speaker
Whoa.
00:36:22
Speaker
Fearsome blaze.
00:36:24
Speaker
catch everyone in it.
00:36:27
Speaker
And it is going to be a dexterity saving throw from everyone.
00:36:30
Speaker
Alright, you said a dexing?
00:36:36
Speaker
Dex.
00:36:36
Speaker
23 again.
00:36:36
Speaker
An 11 this time.
00:36:41
Speaker
Actually, I'm going to do it on my... It is all good.
00:36:45
Speaker
Okay, anybody that rolled under a 22.
00:36:48
Speaker
22 is the dexterity saving throw you're looking for.
00:36:50
Speaker
Anybody that rolled under a 22 is going to take 50 points of fire damage.
00:36:54
Speaker
We're all dead, so that's fine.
00:36:58
Speaker
Give me a second and I'll see how dead I am.
00:37:01
Speaker
You all are not dead, I promise that.
00:37:04
Speaker
You said 50 as in 5-0?
00:37:05
Speaker
Alright, cool, yeah.
00:37:06
Speaker
Talira is bloodied.
00:37:07
Speaker
I got 22.
00:37:07
Speaker
Nice.
00:37:07
Speaker
You take half damage.
00:37:08
Speaker
Beats it, beats it.
00:37:19
Speaker
Indeed, as as it lets out this this flurry of flame and blaze across the deck of the ship, the sails start to catch on fire.
00:37:27
Speaker
Some of the wood starts to look look kind of not quite on fire, but.
00:37:35
Speaker
It's taken damage for sure.
00:37:38
Speaker
And you look around and about half the crew is downed on the ground, trying to unconscious as their their clothes rage on fire.
00:37:46
Speaker
And the other half you see quickly douses themselves in water as available.
00:37:53
Speaker
And the Triton captain, although having taken damage, seemed to have taken less than majority of the crew.
00:38:02
Speaker
That is all that it has available, and we are to Thalira.
00:38:05
Speaker
You are up.
00:38:07
Speaker
All right.
00:38:08
Speaker
So with this thing now closer, Thalira is going to jump up onto the mast of the ship.
00:38:22
Speaker
That's not the mast, is it?
00:38:24
Speaker
It's the little pointy thing that comes out of the bow of the ship.
00:38:28
Speaker
Um, no, it's the holding the sails.
00:38:31
Speaker
Yeah.
00:38:31
Speaker
Yeah, exactly.
00:38:32
Speaker
I can't remember what exactly what that's called, but yeah.
00:38:34
Speaker
But yeah, the pointy thing that's sticking out of the bow of the ship.
00:38:38
Speaker
Um, she jumps up on that and moves, moves up into melee range.

The Elemental's Final Attack

00:38:46
Speaker
Like the dummy she is as my reaction before my, uh, turn ends.
00:38:51
Speaker
If you're okay with me, retconning that I would like to use my stone rune.
00:38:58
Speaker
Which would force the creature to make a DC whiz saving throw.
00:39:05
Speaker
Ooh, okay.
00:39:06
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely.
00:39:07
Speaker
Let's throw it in here.
00:39:11
Speaker
And looking at a 18.
00:39:17
Speaker
Damn, he passes.
00:39:18
Speaker
Okay.
00:39:19
Speaker
Wait, wait.
00:39:19
Speaker
Sorry, sorry.
00:39:20
Speaker
I didn't quite catch that.
00:39:21
Speaker
What did, what attack was it?
00:39:26
Speaker
It was my reaction to the creature's ending its turn within 30 feet of me.
00:39:32
Speaker
I was going to try to use it, or I was going to try to force it to, or I was going to try to charm it, essentially, which would have put it into a stupor, incapacitating it for a minute.
00:39:44
Speaker
Unfortunately, it did not work.
00:39:46
Speaker
It had to roll a saving throw, so you can't bar to consider that.
00:39:49
Speaker
No, no, no.
00:39:49
Speaker
I've got silvery bobs.
00:39:53
Speaker
You would have had to use it first, right?
00:39:56
Speaker
No, Silver Barbers' reaction.
00:39:58
Speaker
Oh, shit.
00:39:58
Speaker
That's right.
00:40:00
Speaker
It's been banned in all of the campaigns I've played, so I don't actually remember how it worked.
00:40:06
Speaker
That is fantastic.
00:40:07
Speaker
Yeah.
00:40:09
Speaker
I was really just looking at it.
00:40:10
Speaker
I was like, I was thinking about Tommy, too.
00:40:12
Speaker
Yeah, I believe that you can...
00:40:15
Speaker
use that one reaction when which you take when a creature you can see within 60 feet of yourself succeeds on an attack roll an ability check or a saving throw is instantaneous you distract him by triggering creature turn momentary to account encouragement of another creature for triggering must re-roll the d20 and use the lower roll pretty much gives you disadvantage you can then use a different creature but yeah
00:40:44
Speaker
That is going to end up being a 9 for an 18.
00:40:49
Speaker
For an 18 again?
00:40:50
Speaker
Yep.
00:40:52
Speaker
All right.
00:40:52
Speaker
No, sorry.
00:40:53
Speaker
The first one was a 9 plus the thing for 18, and this one was a 11 for a total of 20.
00:40:59
Speaker
Gotcha.
00:41:00
Speaker
Okay.
00:41:01
Speaker
Was that a wisdom save?
00:41:03
Speaker
It was.
00:41:03
Speaker
Yeah, it was a wisdom save.
00:41:05
Speaker
Cheat.
00:41:06
Speaker
Okay.
00:41:09
Speaker
That's good to know.
00:41:10
Speaker
Well, sad that didn't work, but she's going to take that battle axe and smack.
00:41:21
Speaker
Okay.
00:41:21
Speaker
Yeah, roll to hit.
00:41:23
Speaker
That's a 25 to hit.
00:41:25
Speaker
Heck yeah.
00:41:26
Speaker
25 to hit hits.
00:41:27
Speaker
How much damage are we talking?
00:41:29
Speaker
That is 10. 10.
00:41:34
Speaker
okay yeah as your battle axe flies through these flames you feeling the heat is blazed hit your face like opening an oven on 400 degrees surprisingly you you feel it slice through physical like it like it's it's not just flame because otherwise why would an axe do damage
00:41:58
Speaker
Although it seems to slide through easier than flesh, you can feel the resistance as it slides through this elemental of flame.
00:42:07
Speaker
Ha!
00:42:08
Speaker
This thing can be killed!
00:42:11
Speaker
We hit!
00:42:13
Speaker
And I do it again.
00:42:13
Speaker
Okay, roll it, roll it.
00:42:18
Speaker
He's invigorated now!
00:42:21
Speaker
I do it again!
00:42:25
Speaker
Yeah, that was a 17 to hit.
00:42:27
Speaker
That just hits.
00:42:29
Speaker
Nice.
00:42:31
Speaker
For another 10 damage.
00:42:34
Speaker
All right.
00:42:35
Speaker
Fantastic.
00:42:36
Speaker
Anything else as your battle axe flies through it once again and you see like embers essentially like sparks almost fly off of it off the end of your battle axe as it comes through the other side.
00:42:51
Speaker
I should have forgot about my bonus action here.
00:42:57
Speaker
New characters, a lot to learn.
00:42:59
Speaker
Yeah, a lot to learn.
00:43:00
Speaker
And I usually play Casper.
00:43:02
Speaker
So this is fun.
00:43:03
Speaker
I'm going to do it now instead.
00:43:07
Speaker
But I'm going to use my giant's might.
00:43:09
Speaker
And I become a large creature along with everything I'm wearing.
00:43:13
Speaker
Okay.
00:43:16
Speaker
Let me increase your size on here.
00:43:18
Speaker
Boom.
00:43:19
Speaker
You now take up the majority of the front of this ship.
00:43:23
Speaker
The bow is Thalera.
00:43:28
Speaker
Is it like tilting a little further into the water?
00:43:32
Speaker
Does your weight go up as well?
00:43:36
Speaker
I would become a large creature, and Homegirl already weighs like 300 pounds.
00:43:42
Speaker
Yeah, you just feel it as if you're going over a wave.
00:43:44
Speaker
Yeah.
00:43:47
Speaker
It just like re-stabilizes.
00:43:51
Speaker
All right.
00:43:53
Speaker
Water splashes.
00:43:54
Speaker
Does it hit the elemental?
00:43:58
Speaker
You know, maybe.
00:44:00
Speaker
Maybe.
00:44:01
Speaker
That's actually not a bad point, but I will count it as what is already happening.
00:44:05
Speaker
So is that it?
00:44:07
Speaker
That's it.
00:44:07
Speaker
Yeah, I did my action.
00:44:08
Speaker
Bonus action.
00:44:09
Speaker
I moved.
00:44:09
Speaker
That's my turn.
00:44:11
Speaker
Fantastic.
00:44:11
Speaker
Next up, Maeve.
00:44:14
Speaker
Would I also be able to get within melee range of this creature or no?
00:44:21
Speaker
Currently, there's a crew on both sides of Talira and she now takes up the 10 foot space.
00:44:26
Speaker
So unless you have the ability, which I believe like you have to be small, like halflings can move through the space of another creature.
00:44:33
Speaker
I don't think you have that ability unless you want to try to do something fun.
00:44:39
Speaker
You can go across the ropes around the outside of the hole.
00:44:44
Speaker
Oh, boy.
00:44:45
Speaker
I don't trust.
00:44:46
Speaker
Can I just scare them to move?
00:44:50
Speaker
You can certainly do that.
00:44:51
Speaker
They do have a turn in the turn order, and they might move at that point.
00:44:54
Speaker
Yeah, so I have to go.
00:44:56
Speaker
Yeah, okay.
00:44:57
Speaker
Sorry, I had planned on three different things.
00:45:01
Speaker
Oh, actually, if one of them is down, can I just step over him or step on him?
00:45:05
Speaker
Oh, I didn't think about that.
00:45:06
Speaker
Yes, yes, you can do that.
00:45:07
Speaker
The one on the left.
00:45:09
Speaker
I'm sorry, buddy.
00:45:09
Speaker
Yeah, as you approach, you can see you're able to see that the first mate, Orenth, one of the Tritons, is downed.
00:45:20
Speaker
Perfect.
00:45:20
Speaker
Okay.
00:45:21
Speaker
So I'm just going to run up and attack with my swords, and I unchief both of them.
00:45:30
Speaker
What one did I want to use first?
00:45:35
Speaker
By the way, Thalira, I think to be able to attack, you'd need to move up.
00:45:38
Speaker
to here, by the way, be able to be in range.
00:45:40
Speaker
Okay.
00:45:43
Speaker
Would I still be able to get that?
00:45:44
Speaker
No, I probably won't then, then.
00:45:46
Speaker
You can... You could get around her, but it'd probably require a roll of some sort.
00:45:53
Speaker
She's literally standing on the edge of the bow.
00:45:57
Speaker
Unless you want to jump onto her back.
00:46:01
Speaker
I'd probably also take a... Tempting.
00:46:04
Speaker
It's on-eye control.
00:46:06
Speaker
I would probably just do a regular decks, either an acrobatics or dexterity roll to see if you can balance on her shoulders.
00:46:11
Speaker
Yeah.
00:46:12
Speaker
Um, let's do that just for funny.
00:46:14
Speaker
Um, yeah.
00:46:15
Speaker
Acrobatic or what's my, my acrobatics and dexterity are both shit.
00:46:19
Speaker
So this is going to be hilarious.
00:46:21
Speaker
All right, let's see what you get.
00:46:23
Speaker
I will, I will tell you the DC is not crazy.
00:46:24
Speaker
So dexterity.
00:46:29
Speaker
Oh, do acrobatics.
00:46:30
Speaker
So a plus three.
00:46:31
Speaker
Okay.
00:46:31
Speaker
Um, fuck seven.
00:46:37
Speaker
Oh, the DC was eight.
00:46:37
Speaker
No.
00:46:41
Speaker
Say hello to my little friend.
00:46:43
Speaker
Oh, shit.
00:46:48
Speaker
As you try to get up onto her shoulders, you bound over the triton up onto the side of the pole and try to jump up and with everything being so wet from the just light drizzle, your foot slips and you accidentally smack your chest plate into her shoulder and fall behind her.
00:47:04
Speaker
Okay.
00:47:11
Speaker
Would I be able to cast a spell?
00:47:13
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely.
00:47:14
Speaker
I haven't done an action yet.
00:47:16
Speaker
Technically, yeah.
00:47:18
Speaker
I'm going to use the range.
00:47:19
Speaker
Anyway, cool.
00:47:21
Speaker
I'm going to also the only distance spell I have is command.
00:47:27
Speaker
Okay.
00:47:27
Speaker
Which is probably not going to work, but we shall try anyway.
00:47:35
Speaker
Or I could do resistance, but I feel like we're probably going to get fucked next one anyway.
00:47:45
Speaker
Just give me two seconds.
00:47:46
Speaker
So sorry.
00:47:53
Speaker
Lay on hands is a bonus action because I'm going to do that as well.
00:47:56
Speaker
So I cast command.
00:48:01
Speaker
First level, which is a wisdom DC of 14, so you're probably going to pass it, but it's something.
00:48:08
Speaker
Wisdom of 14.
00:48:10
Speaker
It rolls a 21.
00:48:13
Speaker
Cool.
00:48:14
Speaker
And then I'm going to lay on hands my... How hurt are you?
00:48:20
Speaker
Me?
00:48:21
Speaker
How hurt is... Thank you.
00:48:25
Speaker
She's looking like she's at about 27%.
00:48:26
Speaker
Okay.
00:48:32
Speaker
Look, I'm going to lay on hands you.
00:48:37
Speaker
And I'm also hiding behind you.
00:48:39
Speaker
So... Because I ran into you.
00:48:44
Speaker
So I'm going to lay on hands.
00:48:47
Speaker
Yeah, so it's charges 30, lay on hands, heal, one bonus action.
00:48:55
Speaker
So I'm assuming I just get to pick how many from the pool of 30 I have.
00:49:01
Speaker
So I'll do 10.
00:49:03
Speaker
Cool, thank you.
00:49:05
Speaker
So I just put my hand on your back.
00:49:09
Speaker
And you just feel like this warmth and vigoration coming from your back throughout your body.
00:49:16
Speaker
You just had a really good coffee.
00:49:19
Speaker
She straightens up and cracks her neck.
00:49:23
Speaker
And now it's my turn.
00:49:25
Speaker
All right.
00:49:27
Speaker
As Thalia is looking and feeling a little bit better after you're kind of getting over the fall.
00:49:32
Speaker
Calden, after witnessing this, it is you are up.
00:49:37
Speaker
Okay.
00:49:39
Speaker
How... Can I even really see this thing anymore because of how big Thalira is?
00:49:45
Speaker
Yes, this thing's massive.
00:49:47
Speaker
While it is technically a large creature, as is Thalira, it fills the air more, and it's bright light from... I mean, the flames you're looking at are extremely blazing hot.
00:50:00
Speaker
Although they are flickering like a candle is going out, it's a very, very large candle.
00:50:05
Speaker
Ha ha!
00:50:07
Speaker
where it's like its core while the flames are on its outskirts are like dimmer and dimming its core is still extremely bright it's the layer is like a silhouette you can't really make out any details of the layer from here
00:50:20
Speaker
Okay, cool, cool, cool.
00:50:23
Speaker
Then I am going to go ahead and use my only trick up my sleeve.

Aftermath and Reflection

00:50:32
Speaker
And I'm going to kind of flick my wrist.
00:50:36
Speaker
And it looks like I might be holding something, but you can't actually see it.
00:50:41
Speaker
And I'm going to chuck my arm and try and hit it with a psychic blade.
00:50:47
Speaker
Ooh, okay.
00:50:49
Speaker
Nice.
00:50:50
Speaker
I will roll up here.
00:50:51
Speaker
That's pretty good.
00:50:54
Speaker
Wish me luck.
00:50:56
Speaker
Probably not.
00:50:57
Speaker
That is a 12.
00:50:59
Speaker
12 does not hit, unfortunately.
00:51:02
Speaker
Well, I'm gonna try again with my other hand.
00:51:05
Speaker
LAUGHTER
00:51:08
Speaker
When it doesn't work the first time.
00:51:10
Speaker
And that was a nat 20.
00:51:12
Speaker
Oh, hey, that hits.
00:51:13
Speaker
Let's go.
00:51:14
Speaker
This whole time I thought Calden was left-handed.
00:51:16
Speaker
It turns out he's right.
00:51:22
Speaker
Well, now that you've figured that out, now you can double your dice.
00:51:25
Speaker
Yeah.
00:51:26
Speaker
Okay.
00:51:28
Speaker
So it's going to be 1d4 plus 2d4 plus 5.
00:51:38
Speaker
Not bad.
00:51:39
Speaker
12 psychic damage.
00:51:42
Speaker
12 psychic damage.
00:51:45
Speaker
Nice.
00:51:46
Speaker
Oh, actually, hold on.
00:51:49
Speaker
I might be retconning something from the first roll if I can.
00:51:53
Speaker
Yeah, that's fine.
00:51:57
Speaker
Okay.
00:51:58
Speaker
I'm going to roll one of my psychic die to see if I can make that first hit actually hit.
00:52:08
Speaker
Okay, that's fine with me.
00:52:09
Speaker
You're saying it was a 12, correct?
00:52:11
Speaker
Yes.
00:52:12
Speaker
Okay.
00:52:13
Speaker
So we are going to add 7 to that.
00:52:19
Speaker
Yeah, that hits.
00:52:19
Speaker
That puts you at a 19.
00:52:21
Speaker
Cool.
00:52:22
Speaker
I'm going to mark that off.
00:52:25
Speaker
With that 12 damage you did, was that with the dice doubled?
00:52:29
Speaker
Yes.
00:52:30
Speaker
Okay, and then plus 9 more?
00:52:32
Speaker
14 more.
00:52:36
Speaker
14 more.
00:52:37
Speaker
Okay.
00:52:38
Speaker
Dang.
00:52:38
Speaker
You guys, as you've already hit it with a couple different attacks, you can see this thing keels over a little bit.
00:52:45
Speaker
And as you hit it with this psychic attack, you can see it's like arm appendages come up to grab it where its head would be and cover its eyes for a moment as you hear it
00:52:58
Speaker
Not shout by any means, but with a creature this large, it comes out commanding and reverberating, especially over a calm night ocean like this anyway.
00:53:12
Speaker
As it seems to say something in another lane.
00:53:17
Speaker
Is there anything else you'd like to do with your turn, Calden?
00:53:21
Speaker
Um, he is also going to climb up on the mast a little bit that he's next to.
00:53:27
Speaker
Probably just about 15 feet so that he's kind of covered by it.
00:53:33
Speaker
Okay.
00:53:34
Speaker
And that's the end of his turn.
00:53:36
Speaker
All right.
00:53:37
Speaker
After Kalden, we get to the crew is you see the ones that are still up.
00:53:41
Speaker
Majority of them not being one for battle much immediately begin to retreat.
00:53:48
Speaker
You see that I think it was Mare.
00:53:50
Speaker
The navigator is still back at the helm, kind of cowering as well.
00:53:54
Speaker
And then your captain, the Triton, Sylvain, stands up and...
00:54:02
Speaker
I forgot to kind of mention what he was wearing earlier, but he seems to be wearing kind of like these grayish blue kind of like flowing robes.
00:54:10
Speaker
It looks like they have been altered at some point, kind of hastily and not by a professional, maybe by his own hand.
00:54:16
Speaker
You're not really sure.
00:54:18
Speaker
To have made the sleeves a little farther up on his forearms and a little tighter around his arm.
00:54:29
Speaker
looking like maybe they would have been something maybe your friend Yellen would have been wearing, except they've been altered to kind of be a little more useful when going around a boat.
00:54:40
Speaker
As he falls to one knee and begins muttering a prayer, and as he does that, Yellen, you and Talira both gain... Where are my d6s?
00:54:56
Speaker
You both gain...
00:55:00
Speaker
plus five, 13, 13 health.
00:55:05
Speaker
Let's go.
00:55:06
Speaker
I am feeling much better than zero.
00:55:09
Speaker
Wait, were you down?
00:55:11
Speaker
Let's go.
00:55:12
Speaker
Oh my God.
00:55:13
Speaker
How did I not know that you were down?
00:55:17
Speaker
Oh shit.
00:55:20
Speaker
Woo's my bag.
00:55:21
Speaker
You were absolutely right.
00:55:22
Speaker
It was nine, not 14.
00:55:23
Speaker
I stupidly, cause the other one I had to roll manually and it didn't add my modifier.
00:55:28
Speaker
So this one, I then added it.
00:55:30
Speaker
Nope, you're good.
00:55:31
Speaker
You're good.
00:55:34
Speaker
Yeah, so the crew, Sylvain, does that and then he stands up.
00:55:39
Speaker
He stands up.
00:55:41
Speaker
Please help us, my crew.
00:55:42
Speaker
It's not built for battle like this.
00:55:45
Speaker
As he also then retreats, but not nearly as far as the rest of his crew.
00:55:51
Speaker
And that brings us to Yellen.
00:55:53
Speaker
You are now up.
00:55:54
Speaker
Alright, I stand up and I kind of like, oh, I think I've had
00:56:01
Speaker
very much enough of the ocean and I I'm gonna cast mask healing word okay let me see exactly how much that does I just had to pull that but is his sea sickness gone yeah no no no he's got a heat stroke adrenaline has a crazy way of making us forget about those things he'll throw up later though
00:56:31
Speaker
It'll all come rushing back at once.
00:56:34
Speaker
I'm actually going to upcast it as well, so it's going to be 3d4 plus 4.
00:56:39
Speaker
Nice.
00:56:39
Speaker
Lovely.
00:56:44
Speaker
I'm not putting it on the map, but just so you guys are aware, the front sail and portions of the ropes at the front and portions of the hull are on fire.
00:56:53
Speaker
It does not seem to be... It does not, though, given the weather, seem to be spreading.
00:57:00
Speaker
That's good, at least.
00:57:02
Speaker
All right, and I get to choose six creatures for it.
00:57:06
Speaker
Dips.
00:57:08
Speaker
I think I'm going to prioritize my party in this.
00:57:11
Speaker
Okay.
00:57:12
Speaker
I'm at full health.
00:57:13
Speaker
Don't worry about me.
00:57:14
Speaker
You're at full?
00:57:15
Speaker
Okay.
00:57:15
Speaker
I am not.
00:57:17
Speaker
Okay, so then I will heal mate.
00:57:20
Speaker
Thalira, how are you looking?
00:57:22
Speaker
I'm feeling about 50%.
00:57:24
Speaker
Okay, I'll hit you with it, too.
00:57:26
Speaker
And then I'll get the...
00:57:27
Speaker
what I can of the crew.
00:57:28
Speaker
Are these guys dead?
00:57:30
Speaker
They are unconscious, not dead.
00:57:31
Speaker
Okay, I'll heal them as well.
00:57:33
Speaker
Okay, you want to go for the two that are at the front of the ship?
00:57:36
Speaker
Yes, please.
00:57:37
Speaker
Okay.
00:57:39
Speaker
They are now alive and well as they... Oh my god!
00:57:44
Speaker
How many hit points was that again?
00:57:46
Speaker
Oh, sorry, I... Twelve.
00:57:49
Speaker
Twelve points of healing.
00:57:51
Speaker
Nice, thank you.
00:57:52
Speaker
Hell yeah.
00:57:55
Speaker
Alright, anything else, Yellen?
00:57:58
Speaker
And I think I'm going to move back a little bit.
00:58:01
Speaker
I'm going to move more towards the back of the ship.
00:58:06
Speaker
Also, Yellen, what are your languages?
00:58:09
Speaker
My languages?
00:58:10
Speaker
Let me take a look for you.
00:58:13
Speaker
I'll say this.
00:58:13
Speaker
Does anybody speak Primordial?
00:58:17
Speaker
No.
00:58:18
Speaker
No.
00:58:19
Speaker
I know a lot of languages.
00:58:20
Speaker
I know Infernal.
00:58:22
Speaker
Is that helpful?
00:58:24
Speaker
Not in this case, no.
00:58:25
Speaker
I don't know.
00:58:29
Speaker
I don't speak any language.
00:58:31
Speaker
I don't speak any language.
00:58:35
Speaker
We've been hallucinating from talking.
00:58:42
Speaker
He doesn't even speak common?
00:58:44
Speaker
Nope, not yet.
00:58:46
Speaker
Not yet.
00:58:47
Speaker
He's actually also using just body language and a flute.
00:58:53
Speaker
Maybe.
00:58:54
Speaker
Maybe.
00:58:55
Speaker
It's probably because of the homebrew.
00:58:57
Speaker
How are you doing, Yellen?
00:58:59
Speaker
I don't say anything.
00:59:00
Speaker
You're like, oh, that's how I'm feeling, too.
00:59:01
Speaker
That's crazy.
00:59:03
Speaker
It's probably because of the homebrew stuff we had to do.
00:59:07
Speaker
Okay, so you're just no common, essentially.
00:59:10
Speaker
Yeah, I just know common.
00:59:12
Speaker
Okay, sounds good.
00:59:13
Speaker
Then none of you recognized what the elemental said, then.
00:59:17
Speaker
Okay, very sorry.
00:59:20
Speaker
Yellen, do you have anything else for your turn?
00:59:22
Speaker
Yeah, I'm just going to move back a little bit and go.
00:59:28
Speaker
15.
00:59:28
Speaker
We're back right there.
00:59:29
Speaker
Okay.
00:59:30
Speaker
Sounds good.
00:59:33
Speaker
As you move past where you can see Kalden and he's just like chilling, casually hanging out on the side of this mast, he just kind of gives you like a two finger salute.
00:59:46
Speaker
Is it hot up there?
00:59:47
Speaker
Oh, it's actually pretty nice up here.
00:59:49
Speaker
There's a nice breeze.
00:59:51
Speaker
Oh.
00:59:52
Speaker
That's great.
00:59:54
Speaker
The fire is still way up.
00:59:55
Speaker
I'm good.
00:59:56
Speaker
Speak for yourself.
00:59:57
Speaker
I forgot my accent.
00:59:58
Speaker
It is hot.
01:00:00
Speaker
It is hot.
01:00:04
Speaker
Speaking of which, I'm not going to retcon it.
01:00:06
Speaker
I'm not going to retcon it.
01:00:09
Speaker
We'll say you managed to somehow avoid it for the first one.
01:00:12
Speaker
But when you hit this creature with melee attacks, you're supposed to take fire damage.
01:00:15
Speaker
Just know that you felt the damage and it's somehow like you managed to throw the damage away for a second.
01:00:24
Speaker
Adrenaline.
01:00:26
Speaker
Yeah, yeah.
01:00:26
Speaker
All about the adrenaline, for sure.
01:00:27
Speaker
Yeah, as the... We come back... Whoa, how'd you get all the way up there?
01:00:34
Speaker
Magic.
01:00:38
Speaker
Yeah, as the... I think you were... Yeah.
01:00:41
Speaker
As the elemental is actually going to move through you and stop partially on the other half of you.
01:00:49
Speaker
And as it stops, you take...
01:00:58
Speaker
Oh, that was bad.
01:00:58
Speaker
Uh-oh.
01:01:00
Speaker
Oh, that's even worse.
01:01:00
Speaker
Uh-oh.
01:01:01
Speaker
As you take 16 fire damage, it will then... Why did that kill me?
01:01:06
Speaker
It will then reach out its hand to simultaneously touch Maeve and Thalira.
01:01:13
Speaker
It is going to be... One second.
01:01:18
Speaker
You see, like, as it's reaching out to touch you, it seems to be moving slower and slower.
01:01:23
Speaker
as time seems to be going on, and all the rain as it's the drizzle hits it, it keeps on sizzling against it.
01:01:31
Speaker
And it kind of winces at it at times.
01:01:33
Speaker
As the waves even crash up, and when a wave crashes up and hits it, it winces at the water.
01:01:39
Speaker
As the first touch against the Lyra is a natural one, as it just... You've managed to just completely avoid it with how slow it's going.
01:01:47
Speaker
And...
01:01:51
Speaker
the touch towards Maeve ends up being a 24 to hit.
01:01:55
Speaker
Ouch.
01:01:56
Speaker
That's going to be... 9, 13... 20 fire damage.
01:01:59
Speaker
I'm still up.
01:02:11
Speaker
And as it touches you, you take the 20 fire damage and you see as your garments catch fire and you will continue to take fire damage if you do not do something to douse them.
01:02:22
Speaker
And that will be its turn.
01:02:24
Speaker
Thalira, you are up.
01:02:26
Speaker
Cool.
01:02:28
Speaker
So, Talira steps back out of the actual flames.
01:02:36
Speaker
Let me double check.
01:02:37
Speaker
I want to make sure because all of my objects get bigger when I get bigger.
01:02:41
Speaker
Would that also mean that my weapon adds more damage?
01:02:46
Speaker
I don't... I believe regarding... Because that would be act similar to the enlarged reduce spell.
01:02:53
Speaker
Yeah.
01:02:53
Speaker
It's larger, and I do not believe...
01:02:56
Speaker
It affects weapon damage.
01:03:00
Speaker
That makes the roll easier.
01:03:02
Speaker
What did you say, Rennie?
01:03:06
Speaker
I don't think it does.
01:03:07
Speaker
I don't think it does either.
01:03:09
Speaker
I've actually had to look this up before, and if my memory serves me correct, that would be a no.
01:03:15
Speaker
Okay, cool.
01:03:16
Speaker
That makes the roll easier.
01:03:17
Speaker
I don't need to, like, add another thing.
01:03:20
Speaker
So, yeah, she hits or attempts to...
01:03:26
Speaker
Oh, here we go.
01:03:27
Speaker
Once on each of your turns, one of your attacks with a weapon or an arm strike can deal an extra 1d6 damage.
01:03:32
Speaker
Oh, fuck yeah.
01:03:33
Speaker
Well, let's see.
01:03:34
Speaker
Okay, roll the hit.
01:03:38
Speaker
Does a 24 hit?
01:03:40
Speaker
24 does hit.
01:03:42
Speaker
Cool.
01:03:45
Speaker
So that is an 8.
01:03:50
Speaker
I'm going to go ahead and roll that d6.
01:03:52
Speaker
Okay.
01:03:55
Speaker
I see 1d4.
01:03:58
Speaker
It's on her character sheet.
01:04:00
Speaker
Oh.
01:04:01
Speaker
Yes.
01:04:03
Speaker
Also, as you do manage to hit as your axe rips through it once again, the flames leap up your arm, causing you to take 10 more fire damage.
01:04:13
Speaker
Oof.
01:04:14
Speaker
Okay.
01:04:16
Speaker
That's another three damage.
01:04:20
Speaker
hot, hot!
01:04:22
Speaker
And she hits again for attack again.
01:04:25
Speaker
Okay, how much was the total damage from that last one?
01:04:28
Speaker
That was three on that E6.
01:04:31
Speaker
So that's a total of 11.
01:04:32
Speaker
Okay.
01:04:34
Speaker
Talira, stop touching it!
01:04:38
Speaker
It needs to die!
01:04:41
Speaker
You're going to die!
01:04:42
Speaker
I'll be fine.
01:04:45
Speaker
I don't know what I'm going to fucking do with this moment.
01:04:47
Speaker
Uh, 12.
01:04:50
Speaker
12 to hit uh uh that would that will not hit unfortunately yep yep so sorry she'll she will survive this one all right fantastic anything else for your turn yeah yeah yeah what does that mean
01:05:11
Speaker
That means, oh wait, no, I'm not going to do that.
01:05:15
Speaker
I was looking at my bonus action.
01:05:18
Speaker
No, that's it.
01:05:19
Speaker
That's my turn.
01:05:22
Speaker
Okay, that is your turn.
01:05:24
Speaker
It's going to take its legendary action finally.
01:05:26
Speaker
Okay.
01:05:27
Speaker
As it's going to move directly under the mast as the now the mast and the sail above it begins to catch fire from all of the flames ripping off of this.
01:05:39
Speaker
Can I take my opportunity to attack Mr. DM?
01:05:42
Speaker
You absolutely can.
01:05:43
Speaker
Maeve can as well as well as the Triton Captain.
01:05:47
Speaker
Calden feels decidedly less cool now in case you were wondering, Nellin.
01:05:54
Speaker
The captain's attack does not hit.
01:05:56
Speaker
That also misses.
01:05:59
Speaker
Sorry, just give me two seconds.
01:06:00
Speaker
I'm going to use my short sword.
01:06:06
Speaker
Piercing.
01:06:15
Speaker
17?
01:06:15
Speaker
17 just hits, and as you do hit it, you will also take 10 fire damage.
01:06:21
Speaker
Perfect.
01:06:22
Speaker
I can't bonus action, I'm assuming.
01:06:24
Speaker
No, this is just reaction.
01:06:26
Speaker
But it does vex him.
01:06:30
Speaker
So just let me clear this thing, which is really annoying.
01:06:34
Speaker
So if you hit a creature with a short sword and deal damage to the creature, you have advantage on next attack roll against a creature before the end of your next turn.
01:06:47
Speaker
And damage for this one.
01:06:52
Speaker
is six.
01:06:57
Speaker
Six.
01:06:57
Speaker
It takes six more damage as your short sword rips through its shoulder.
01:07:02
Speaker
As you land back on the ground, it turns.
01:07:04
Speaker
And as you had ripped through it, again, a flame leaped up and just managed to catch you, putting a burn mark across your midsection.
01:07:13
Speaker
And as you land on the ground, it stops just underneath the mast, sending flames up this mast and into the sails.
01:07:20
Speaker
Having finally escaped the ocean,
01:07:23
Speaker
Around it, it seems to like almost have a sigh of relief as you feel it's like the tension in its shoulders.
01:07:31
Speaker
You can see the flames almost like gather once more.
01:07:38
Speaker
Having finally not been on water.
01:07:42
Speaker
And as it does that, that will be all it can do for its legendary action is just move.
01:07:50
Speaker
So we are now to your turn, Maith.
01:07:52
Speaker
Okay.
01:07:56
Speaker
Where do we move?
01:07:56
Speaker
So I can still, so I'm going to follow and attack him and probably just get myself killed.
01:08:03
Speaker
But I feel Maeve is going to more focus on killing the creature more than killing herself.
01:08:08
Speaker
So she's going to yell to Yellen and she's like, I'm trusting you to do your job.
01:08:14
Speaker
And she just runs towards the fire.
01:08:17
Speaker
Yellen goes, I'm
01:08:26
Speaker
that reminded me that reminded me of the wild kid from what was that show yes the wild thorn i love it so much okay um okay so she's going to attack again um well new round attacks i guess
01:08:50
Speaker
Perfect.
01:08:51
Speaker
I'm going to attack it again with my short sword first.
01:08:54
Speaker
Well, I'm going to run to it.
01:08:56
Speaker
Okay.
01:08:58
Speaker
Short sword first and with advantage.
01:09:02
Speaker
She does have advantage, yes.
01:09:05
Speaker
I don't want to override shit.
01:09:07
Speaker
I'm giving back everything I want.
01:09:08
Speaker
There we go.
01:09:13
Speaker
So first roll is a...
01:09:17
Speaker
Oh my goodness.
01:09:18
Speaker
11, so that's not going to hit.
01:09:20
Speaker
So again.
01:09:20
Speaker
Nat 20.
01:09:25
Speaker
Nice.
01:09:26
Speaker
Nat 20.
01:09:27
Speaker
Good shit.
01:09:29
Speaker
And then I've got a bonus action smite.
01:09:32
Speaker
Ooh.
01:09:34
Speaker
So I'm going to do that.
01:09:38
Speaker
All right.
01:09:39
Speaker
What kind of damage are we talking here?
01:09:40
Speaker
Probably not much.
01:09:41
Speaker
Okay, so I'll roll the...
01:09:48
Speaker
I'm going to cast, just because I want the sky to die, I'm going to do shining.
01:09:56
Speaker
Can I just do normal spot?
01:09:58
Speaker
Might, no.
01:10:04
Speaker
I'm going to do Shining Smite because I feel like Fire Smite's not going to really... It's time to wake up.
01:10:11
Speaker
Work.
01:10:14
Speaker
Sophia, wake up.
01:10:17
Speaker
It's only in three hours.
01:10:17
Speaker
Wake up.
01:10:20
Speaker
This isn't real.
01:10:22
Speaker
That to me.
01:10:23
Speaker
You've been dreaming it the whole time.
01:10:30
Speaker
Okay, so Shining Smite does an extra 2d6 radiant damage from the attack.
01:10:36
Speaker
Okay.
01:10:37
Speaker
How are we doing the... For your base attack, you can either roll double the amount of dice or double the amount that you've rolled from your dice.
01:10:47
Speaker
I do not care which is up to you.
01:10:49
Speaker
Okay, cool, cool.
01:10:50
Speaker
I'll just roll all the dice and we'll just double it because math.
01:10:56
Speaker
So I'll just do 2d6 radiant and it is...
01:11:04
Speaker
2d6 plus 3, so 4d6.
01:11:07
Speaker
Would that double the radiant damage too, or no?
01:11:10
Speaker
I believe it's just your base attack.
01:11:12
Speaker
Just the base attack.
01:11:13
Speaker
If anybody wants to correct me, you're more than welcome to, but I believe it's just the base attack.
01:11:16
Speaker
done um so 2d6 correct sorry three six seven eight nine ten so 20 damage just normally um and then radiant is 2d6 radiant which is five radiant minus and five radiant so so 25 all up um
01:11:48
Speaker
As you rip your sword through its chest and it ends up coming out the other side and you can see everybody on the other side manages to like see it glowing red hot for a moment.
01:11:57
Speaker
You pull it back out.
01:11:59
Speaker
The flames flicker for a moment, almost the light like dims for a moment, almost going completely black flames back to life for just a moment.
01:12:06
Speaker
And it seems to me almost like a like a car trying to start that just can't quite get there.
01:12:10
Speaker
And it it falls to its its its.
01:12:14
Speaker
non-existent knees and its flames actually grow smaller as it goes down a size to medium as it appears it's on its last leg.
01:12:26
Speaker
I've got one more action.
01:12:27
Speaker
Hell yeah.
01:12:33
Speaker
I want to ask it questions but we can't communicate to it so I'm probably just going to kill it because it's kind of fucking everything up.
01:12:39
Speaker
So I'm just going to attack because...
01:12:43
Speaker
It's on fire.
01:12:44
Speaker
We're on a ship.
01:12:45
Speaker
Okay.
01:12:46
Speaker
It's going to take its reaction before... How much fire damage did I get first?
01:12:51
Speaker
Because I hit it once.
01:12:54
Speaker
Do I get fire damage when I hit it?
01:12:55
Speaker
Every time you hit it with a melee attack or you touch it, it's 10 fire damage.
01:12:58
Speaker
Cool.
01:12:59
Speaker
Okay.
01:13:00
Speaker
I'm probably going to be dead before my next action.
01:13:03
Speaker
With its reaction to your attack, it is going to retaliate with a burst of flame as its flame wrath...
01:13:12
Speaker
shoots out towards you and instead of like a complete radius of a circle it it manages to just put its eyes towards you and out of its face just a beam of a flame shoots towards you i need to make a dexterity saving throw of 22. that's not gonna work but okay fun times i'm gonna use the dexterity saving
01:13:44
Speaker
21.
01:13:44
Speaker
Oh, so close.
01:13:47
Speaker
That's a total of 20 fire damage.
01:13:50
Speaker
I'm down.
01:13:52
Speaker
As the fire engulfs you completely from head to toe as its body is flickering and shortening in size, it's almost as if it's transferring the flame as a fire.
01:14:06
Speaker
of its size into this attack at you, completely engulfing you in flame as you're smoldering, as your body falls unconscious and limp to the deck of the boat.
01:14:21
Speaker
I believe next up is Calden.
01:14:26
Speaker
Okay.
01:14:28
Speaker
Am I... How tall is it?
01:14:31
Speaker
Am I within melee range for it?
01:14:35
Speaker
For its melee range.
01:14:36
Speaker
It has now dropped down to a medium creature.
01:14:39
Speaker
If you're 15 feet high, you will have to drop a little bit.
01:14:43
Speaker
Okay, good.
01:14:44
Speaker
That's what I want.
01:14:45
Speaker
Okay, my next question is an interpretation of rules.
01:14:51
Speaker
Okay.
01:14:54
Speaker
With the dagger nick property, which I'm able to use with my psychic blades, it looks like.
01:15:03
Speaker
When you make the extra attack of the light property, you can make it as part of the attack action instead of as a bonus action.
01:15:11
Speaker
So I can attack with my attack action.
01:15:14
Speaker
I can use Nick after I do that attack to attack again as an action.
01:15:19
Speaker
And then I still have my bonus action to use my bonus action attack.
01:15:23
Speaker
Correct.
01:15:29
Speaker
Whoa!
01:15:31
Speaker
I can hit this motherfucking three times!
01:15:34
Speaker
Hell yeah!
01:15:37
Speaker
Okay.
01:15:39
Speaker
Then that is what I'm going to attempt to do.
01:15:45
Speaker
I was going to try and psychically link to it so we could maybe have a chat, but I'm pretty upset after seeing one of my comrades engulfed in flames, and I think I'm not interested in chatting with it anymore.
01:15:58
Speaker
Legit?
01:15:59
Speaker
Felt.
01:16:00
Speaker
Okay.
01:16:00
Speaker
Yeah.
01:16:02
Speaker
Okay.
01:16:03
Speaker
Psychic blades.
01:16:07
Speaker
First hit.
01:16:08
Speaker
19.
01:16:10
Speaker
That will hit.
01:16:11
Speaker
Okay.
01:16:12
Speaker
Do you mind if I just roll all three?
01:16:14
Speaker
Sure.
01:16:14
Speaker
Go for it.
01:16:15
Speaker
Okay.
01:16:16
Speaker
Second hit.
01:16:17
Speaker
20.
01:16:18
Speaker
Dirty.
01:16:19
Speaker
Third hit.
01:16:20
Speaker
22.
01:16:20
Speaker
Okay.
01:16:23
Speaker
All three hit.
01:16:29
Speaker
Holy shit.
01:16:30
Speaker
I will ask you.
01:16:31
Speaker
How would you like to finish him?
01:16:36
Speaker
Okay.
01:16:36
Speaker
Or it.
01:16:36
Speaker
How would you like to finish it?
01:16:38
Speaker
So, Calden sees Maeve go down and there's just this ball of flames.
01:16:50
Speaker
fully engulfing her.
01:16:52
Speaker
And he screams and feels this extra power course through him.
01:17:00
Speaker
Manages to pull two of his psychic daggers at once and throws both of them straight into its head.
01:17:13
Speaker
Okay.
01:17:13
Speaker
As you do that, the daggers...
01:17:18
Speaker
all hit almost like in a triangle across its head and the flames seem to sputter and seem to fall as this charred hunk of a humanoid hits the deck completely featureless with the exception of hollowed caved-in eye sockets.
01:17:44
Speaker
And as it, you can see its chest rise and almost like crackle and crack as it does so, as like this charred husk is being forced to move for a moment.
01:17:54
Speaker
Its chest rises as it like takes in what seems like a breath.
01:17:59
Speaker
And as it exhales, you hear, Eoshoca.
01:18:10
Speaker
What was that?
01:18:12
Speaker
I don't know.
01:18:14
Speaker
But it's gone now.
01:18:18
Speaker
Maeve.
01:18:20
Speaker
Yellen, can you... I'm on it.
01:18:23
Speaker
I'm going to walk over and I'm going to cast Cure Wounds.
01:18:26
Speaker
And then since Maeve is down, the Circle of Mortality, I just does max dice value.
01:18:36
Speaker
Okay.
01:18:36
Speaker
Someone's at zero.
01:18:38
Speaker
Nice.
01:18:39
Speaker
So how much health?
01:18:41
Speaker
So it'd be 20 points health.
01:18:46
Speaker
Dang.
01:18:47
Speaker
Hell yeah!
01:18:48
Speaker
20.
01:18:52
Speaker
You see that the crew is being brought up by the captain, Sylvain, is going around to the remaining crew that were down, and you can see they start to glow with this, like, this bluish radiant light as he says some prayers to each of them.
01:19:06
Speaker
And they all rise, and
01:19:08
Speaker
some of them staggering, a little hurt, some of them wincing in pain, but they all start putting out the fires and repairing the ship as necessary as the captain comes up to the group of you as you're healing.
01:19:22
Speaker
Thank you so much.
01:19:23
Speaker
That was a close one.
01:19:27
Speaker
That was unheard of, of being not in just the Gulf, but this region of the world.
01:19:34
Speaker
I don't know what we would have done without you.
01:19:38
Speaker
How did it get on the water?
01:19:41
Speaker
Yeah, can these things form on water?
01:19:46
Speaker
I am not extremely knowledgeable in the way of fire.
01:19:52
Speaker
I know of the water and the elements surrounding it quite well.
01:19:56
Speaker
I was once a believer in an old forgotten god.
01:20:05
Speaker
Um...
01:20:10
Speaker
Fire should not be here.
01:20:12
Speaker
The ocean is not a place for it.
01:20:14
Speaker
It cannot naturally survive.
01:20:17
Speaker
I have no idea what we've been doing here.
01:20:23
Speaker
What direction did it come from?
01:20:28
Speaker
We do not know.
01:20:29
Speaker
You saw what we did.
01:20:34
Speaker
Are we at the beginning of our trip still, so we have about seven days left before we reach land again?
01:20:39
Speaker
About six.
01:20:41
Speaker
You're almost a day in at this point, pretty much.
01:20:45
Speaker
You were kind of stopped.
01:20:45
Speaker
Very far from land.
01:20:47
Speaker
Yes.
01:20:47
Speaker
Oh, yeah, for sure.
01:20:52
Speaker
Either way, obviously this is a mystery that may remain that way.
01:20:57
Speaker
But you all have earned my respect and my trust.
01:21:00
Speaker
And regardless of what my quartermaster likes to say, however long you need us to wait at the docks,
01:21:09
Speaker
And Neveo will wait for you.
01:21:13
Speaker
What does he like to say?
01:21:15
Speaker
Well, she is a bit sassy, if you haven't gotten that already.
01:21:22
Speaker
She gave us a week, but, eh, thank you.
01:21:28
Speaker
If you need longer, we'll make do.
01:21:32
Speaker
Thank you.
01:21:33
Speaker
We try our best.
01:21:35
Speaker
Appreciate it, thank you.
01:21:37
Speaker
How is the ship?
01:21:39
Speaker
Ship took some damage, I'm not going to lie.
01:21:42
Speaker
Got a couple holes in the main mast, in the main sail.
01:21:46
Speaker
Shouldn't take long to repair.
01:21:47
Speaker
We're prepped for potentialities.
01:21:51
Speaker
We should be back underway in just a couple hours.
01:21:54
Speaker
So little delays?
01:21:56
Speaker
Little delay.
01:21:57
Speaker
Once we get to Nevaeh, we'll have to spend some time.
01:21:59
Speaker
Luckily, you know, they do quite a bit of lumber outpost.
01:22:02
Speaker
We can get some of the wood we need to repair some of the charred pieces.
01:22:06
Speaker
But it's not bad enough.
01:22:07
Speaker
We'll get to our destination.
01:22:11
Speaker
Good.
01:22:12
Speaker
I'll help with repairs.
01:22:14
Speaker
I'm magic and all that.
01:22:16
Speaker
So see if we can get us moving a little quicker.
01:22:19
Speaker
I'm strong.
01:22:20
Speaker
You can use me however you need.
01:22:23
Speaker
Very much appreciated.
01:22:24
Speaker
You all have done enough for tonight, though.
01:22:26
Speaker
Thank you again so much.
01:22:27
Speaker
Please get some rest and we'll manage.
01:22:30
Speaker
And he walks off, go join the rest of his crew, kind of tending to those who need it.
01:22:38
Speaker
Cal then turns to Lear and gives her a look over.
01:22:42
Speaker
Because you don't look great.
01:22:46
Speaker
No, I don't.
01:22:49
Speaker
She's very singed.
01:22:52
Speaker
Scorch marks all over her armor.
01:22:57
Speaker
Told you to stop touching it.
01:22:59
Speaker
It needed to die.
01:23:01
Speaker
It died.
01:23:02
Speaker
It's fine.
01:23:06
Speaker
You're barely alive.
01:23:09
Speaker
Eh, I've had worse.
01:23:14
Speaker
On that note, um...
01:23:17
Speaker
You guys are able to find rest squeezing into your small little room after being covered in the drizzle.
01:23:25
Speaker
After going through so much intense heat, then being covered in water once again, and the breeze kicking up, it's surprisingly, it's chilly fairly quick.
01:23:36
Speaker
So the body warmth of being in the cramped room, surprisingly, is welcomed.
01:23:43
Speaker
The rest of the trip, though, the rest of the remaining six days goes without incident.
01:23:47
Speaker
The weather had been forecasted to be pretty easygoing, and indeed it was, minus the little incident you had in open water.
01:23:58
Speaker
And as you pass a couple different islands and you see the Alvarian mountainside come into view, the little trade town of Neveo comes into view.
01:24:14
Speaker
as we enter into the morning of a new day in a and i think that would be a perfect time to stop for today's episode yay all right guys we did we did die with how much damage that thing was doing to everyone all at once i was concerned i was i was like
01:24:37
Speaker
I guess he's planned for us to have a wipeout at the beginning of the first session.
01:24:42
Speaker
We're going to go somewhere else.
01:24:44
Speaker
That's crazy.
01:24:45
Speaker
We're going to get shipwrecked today, I guess.
01:24:47
Speaker
I went down before combat even started.
01:24:52
Speaker
Dude, I didn't even know you were down.
01:24:58
