Welcome everybody to a little surprise additional character session. I don't know what to call this. I'm gonna be honest, um audience, but we wanted to give you a little bit of insight to maybe some past of some of our characters. And today we're going to be learning a little bit more about Yelling Ya Call.
00:00:41
Speaker
I do have the full cast with me today. Renny, MJ, Sephira, and Jack. Say hi, guys. Hello! but we're not going to do a normal episode intro as this is just a little surprise extra for you guys. So I hope you enjoy.

Speaker
Somewhere along the south side of the Moonpeak Mountains, in the country of Drolth. There is a small town, nameless to most, and it's a foggy morning as two men stroll into town on their horses.
00:01:28
Speaker
They both don a long, gray robe, red symbol, one carrying a mace at his side. they stroll in and get off, you see that one is quite a bit younger, a bit blue-skinned with horns.
00:01:43
Speaker
Our audience might know this one Yellen Ya'Kal. There's another man with him, gets off his horse. For now, he's to remain unnamed, but he stands firm, broad-shouldered, and true in his character, knowing who he is, what he is, and who and why he is here.
00:02:02
Speaker
As he talks, he talks with a ah stern but calming voice. One that gives you a sense that you know that you are safe when he's around.
00:02:16
Speaker
One that you know you can talk to for anything.
00:02:22
Speaker
A man who, even if you don't know him, it wouldn't take long and you could probably look to him for things. You can go to him for Probably anything you need.
00:02:34
Speaker
The classic father figure. Yellen, I know it's been a long ride, but we have some things to get done. Alright, well, I suppose let's get to it. I'm point in wasting time.
00:02:48
Speaker
I appreciate your gung-ho about today, but I have to take care of this one myself. Now, I've got a feeling, um... Today's gonna be an interesting day.
00:03:01
Speaker
You've been with me for some time and you've learned a lot. Remember your teachings. Remember to turn Isakon in your time of need to find balance. I think you're going to need it today.
00:03:12
Speaker
Yellen kinda like pulls into himself. Right. Right. Yep. Alright. Whatever happens today, I cannot be interrupted. Do you understand that? Yes, master. understand.
00:03:24
Speaker
Right. Take care of what you need to take care of. Stay of trouble. Yes. He starts to walk off towards a dark alleyway, leaving you alone in the middle of this foggy small town.
00:03:37
Speaker
There's, as you look around, you you see it's kind of eerie, kind of quiet. There's a couple of kids that run by, screaming, couple couples who holding each other close, walking by towards wherever their destination is.
00:03:53
Speaker
Nobody seems to pay you any mind. A couple, or sorry, not a couple, but a singular wooden ball comes rolling out of the ah fog towards you at pretty decent speed. I pick it up.
00:04:05
Speaker
As you pick it up, three kids come running out of the fog, bustling to come grab their toy for whatever game they were playing, being what seems like the only sense of energy, only sense of happiness in this town.
00:04:19
Speaker
Is this yours? Yes, thank you. Oh, yeah, no problem. I hand it back. Who are you? ah ah My name's Yellen. I'm a cleric of the anime clergy.
00:04:34
Speaker
What's a funny name? Yellen? Like... Like yelling? you you Do you yell a lot?
00:04:42
Speaker
I suppose you could say that. You're really quiet now. uh... Give me your best yell. I want to hear your yell. Yellen kind of... He doesn't know what to do with himself.
00:04:54
Speaker
He kind of... Do you want to play ball with us?
00:05:00
Speaker
Sure. Yeah, sure. Yay! Yay! Oh, we never get anyone to play with us ever. No. I think an earthquake just happened.
00:05:12
Speaker
and earthquake? The whole screen is showing. I'll run with a it. it. Is that what that feeling is?
00:05:24
Speaker
I thought she was going to talk around her shook, right? And sure enough, Tralf, especially the Moonpeak Mountains, do sit on a fault line. And you do feel just a slight earthquake, a common one.
00:05:38
Speaker
Equivalent of of Earth 2 magnitude. My mommy says that's when the gods get rumbly tummies. My mommy says they need to toot.
00:05:50
Speaker
ha ha
00:05:53
Speaker
I just thought my brother was jumping up and down in the house.
00:05:58
Speaker
Is he tooting? Probably. Kids. Kids, where did you go? Over here. Daddy. We're hanging out with the new, um, the loud man. His name is Yellen, but he's really quiet.
00:06:15
Speaker
You see a man walk out of the fog about 50 feet from you. He seems dark and brooding. Kind of slunched shoulders over.
00:06:27
Speaker
He wears robes, but the hood is down. has a shaved head with a scar that runs from his eyebrow all the way across to the back.
00:06:39
Speaker
And kind of has this kind of weird aura about him. Kids, what did i tell you about running off? It's all right. We were trying to get our ball. No, it's not all right.
00:06:51
Speaker
i they They weren't getting into any trouble, I i assure you, sir. Oh, I promise you that I will. We had our ball, and he helped. I hold up the ball. See?
00:07:03
Speaker
i know I shouldn't have given you that, and snatches it from you. No, I promise we won't lose it again. leave this man alone and let him get to his business. Come on. We've got places to be.
00:07:15
Speaker
It's all right. I'm sorry. No, don't be sorry. it's He quickly turns and his like coattail kind of swings open. And whenever it does, you just catch the glimpse, Yellen, of a scimitar that's dripping with blood.
00:07:33
Speaker
Sir, I assure you that they're not causing an issue. i'm No, they're causing an issue. They're causing an issue for me. Come on, kids. what will happen if you don't listen.
00:07:44
Speaker
And what will happen if they don't listen? That's none of your fucking business. Stay out of it. I think you've just made it my business. He kind of straightens up, and whenever he straightens up, you see it gains like two inches, like he was purposefully trying to stay smaller.
00:08:01
Speaker
So you can try to frighten me. But I am a cleric of Isakin. I'm the anima cleric. I don't... The gods hold no ground here.
00:08:13
Speaker
They hold ground where I am. Doesn't know what to do after that. Grabs one of the kids by the arm. Come on, leave this man to his business. We've got things to do. Daddy, I promise we won't throw the ball again.
00:08:27
Speaker
I know you won't. I'm going to grab his arm. like a forearm above where via he's grabbed the kid. He's going pause. Kid, you don't want to get yourself into this mess.
00:08:41
Speaker
It seems you've just gotten yourself out of a mess, so why not make a bigger one?
00:08:48
Speaker
He kind of looks back at you, and as he's shaking his head, the view of him starts to fade as you realize a cloth is over your mouth. As the light starts to fade.
00:08:59
Speaker
You don't know how much time passes. Could be days, could be weeks, could have just been an hour. But when you come to, you're in a dark room. You immediately can feel that you're on crickety old wood. It's splintered and grimy.
00:09:13
Speaker
There's one candle lit at the far corner of the room, giving a flickering shadowed appearance. Almost as if monsters or ghosts were being lit.
00:09:25
Speaker
Is that all I can see is just put on the candlelight? You see a couple tables, a barrel, and there's a plate next to you with a small bit of grits on it. You hear some footsteps above you, and you notice that you are tied to a support beam.
00:09:42
Speaker
Am I able to cast spells at all? yeah absolutely okay give me just one second I have a plan.
00:09:54
Speaker
Can I cast Sacred Flame on the ah the rope? ah Yeah, you absolutely can. You actually, you notice like nothing' so nothing's magical that that is holding you. It seems that whoever's taking you probably hasn't accounted for that or was able to kind of get a reading that like you are powerful enough for that.
00:10:11
Speaker
So yeah, you can definitely do it. Okay, yeah, I'll do that then. Yeah, as the room lights up with your flame momentarily, you're able to you're able to see a little bit more. And you can see just in that moment, because it doesn't take long for your sacred flame to burn through this rope, there's some bloodstains into this wood.
00:10:28
Speaker
Yellen kind of stares intently. He finds himself without words at the moment. I'm going to... You hear muffled from above you. Those damn kids got some godly man involved in all this.
00:10:43
Speaker
but fuck are we gonna do with him
00:10:46
Speaker
What you want us to do? The kids, we have to have them. go We can't meet the buyer without them. They'll just turn away. I mean, you're right, but fuck.
00:10:58
Speaker
Who's to say he was alone? Don't they usually travel in pairs? Well, fuck if I know. and fucking don't deal with any gods or deities.
00:11:08
Speaker
I didn't want to have any more blood on my hands, but seems like we're gonna have to. I'm gonna... Can I see where the ah stairs to upstairs are? Yeah. Yeah. They're not very far from you.
00:11:22
Speaker
Okay. I'm going to grab the ah candle just kind of out of comfort. Yellen grabs the candle and starts walking up the stairs as quietly as he can.
00:11:34
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. and We're not rolling today, so I'm and just going to say that you're able to do that. Okay.
00:11:42
Speaker
As you kind of walk up, you get to a ah door at the top. It's missing a plank, so you're able to actually look through it a bit. And you can see even up here, it's fairly dim, a little bit better lit, and a little bit of the moonlight coming in.
00:11:54
Speaker
As you can now tell, it's night, and the fog has set. It looks like you've probably been passed out majority of the day, or at least what was left of the day. You see a shadow pass in front of the door, or rather a silhouette.
00:12:07
Speaker
Can I see who's out there and how many people there are Yeah, as you kind of follow your eyes to the silhouette, you see there's a woman, slender, long black hair, that's walking down the hallway and takes a left, and then you hear the sound of like an an iron pan at a table.
00:12:23
Speaker
I'm going to get dinner started. All right, honey. The sound of the man that you heard earlier in the day comes from the right. um How many rooms are there in front of me? Like, ah is there assumably like a couple rooms, like one they could be keeping the kids in or something like that?
00:12:38
Speaker
um From what you can see outside this missing plank, you can see that there is a door directly in front of you, but it's also underneath the stairwell, so you can assume it might be storage of some sort, maybe? When you look to the left, it's more of like the entrance area, welcome area. So you see boots that have been taken off and a little spot to hang their robes, which you see the man's robe is hanging.
00:12:59
Speaker
And you see there's a room going right and a room going left, which you can assume the left is the kitchen because that's the way the woman went. When you look to the right, there is a stairwell and then there's just one open doorway, like an archway, which you heard the man's voice come from. Okay.
00:13:11
Speaker
um I'm going to go where i heard the man's voice from then. Okay. Still stealthing. ah Yeah. As you near the corner and you just begin to peek around, you see hairy, kind of dirty, but not not dirty like he lives on the streets, more like dirty like he worked a hard day's work in the coal mine and hasn't showered yet, kind of dirty.
00:13:32
Speaker
And he's just sitting on a rocking chair currently. and appears to be holding something cradled in his arm. He can't tell exactly what it is. Do I have any weapons on me, or can I see any, like,
00:13:44
Speaker
utensils perhaps on the near the table there uh like the coffee table um it seems to be empty right now no there's just ah there's a little bowl with like some sort of fruit in it like apples okay um and there's a fireplace i should mention that it was well on the on the flight other end of the room from you on the far end there is a fireplace that is crackling then i'm gonna go to the other room where like the kitchen room okay You turn around and kind of make your way there.
00:14:17
Speaker
You peek around and it's a slender, very pretty woman, actually. ah Very sharp figures. And she has an apron on and she appears to be cooking something on a cast iron skillet over a like a small fire in the middle of the room.
00:14:32
Speaker
um Okay. As we've learned a bit, Yellen, at this point, he is a ah UFC champ. So he's going to walk up and ah kind of...
00:14:43
Speaker
Put her in like a headlock almost. Okay. um Yeah, she's going to start fighting back immediately and try to yell out for her husband. Okay.
00:14:54
Speaker
Well... Get off of me! Stop! What was that? Honey! What? And you immediately hear the sound of him getting up and rushing your way.
00:15:10
Speaker
Okay, I turn with my back towards the oven. Okay. He comes around the corner. What? You have a- I tied you up good. How the fuck do you get out?
00:15:22
Speaker
Let my wife go. You do not want to do this. Look, I don't. I don't even want to be here. What do you have planned for those children? Why am I here? That isn't- You notice as he came around the corner, he's holding a newborn.
00:15:37
Speaker
What the hellie? Alright, um- What the hellie? What the hellie, auntie? What the hell? I'll tell you right now. I did not expect that. and Don't put that baby down. I'll tell you what.
00:15:53
Speaker
ah Put that thing back where it came from. help me. So help me.
00:16:01
Speaker
Look, I don't want any trouble with you or your family. Whatever trouble you're in, we can help you get out of it with clerics. its It doesn't have to be doesn't have to be this way.
00:16:13
Speaker
We can help you." Yes it does. Why— It does, and I'm not going to get into why. There's no—there's no saving us. Alright, but I've got to do it. I hate doing it, but I've got to do it for the sake of this little one right here.
00:16:27
Speaker
What. Is. It. Listen. There's a buyer lined up. As long as though he gets those children, then I'm free of all my debts.
00:16:38
Speaker
And we can live peacefully finally. Who's the buyer? Where is he? They're taking my kid instead. Who's the buyer? Where are you meeting him? I don't know who the buyer is. He never let us know his name.
00:16:50
Speaker
Is it soon? He should be here any minute.
00:16:58
Speaker
Knock, knock, knock on the door.
00:17:02
Speaker
I'm going to let her go. and i was say I'm sorry. I'm sorry. i I shouldn't have grabbed you like that. um We're not enemies. Let's work together. You're just gonna You're gonna ruin this. I'm gonna be in debt and you're take my kid.
00:17:16
Speaker
Who's to say they're not gonna take your kid anyway? Because I won't fucking let him. We have an agreement. If you're this scared him, stick by it. He's gonna walk through you to get to him. Over my fucking dead body.
00:17:28
Speaker
Exactly. At that point, you hear some thumping and some muffled sounds that sound like the three children you heard earlier come from the room above.
00:17:43
Speaker
What are you doing? Daddy? What's going on? That freaks me. Seems like he's already completing our deal.
00:17:57
Speaker
What? I'm going to run upstairs. Right, you race down the hallway and start going up the stairs with stealth left in the background, just pure urgency.
00:18:09
Speaker
As you get to the top, you see it's just a singular door. ah I'm gonna open it.
00:18:18
Speaker
As you open it, you only see a dark shadow with tendrils. holding each kid up. The three of you recognize Yellen as he barges through the door.
00:18:31
Speaker
Yellen! Yellen! Having idea what this is. Help me! Help me! Help me! Help me!
00:18:43
Speaker
Is this what I think it is? don't know. I'm going to... I have my candle there. I'm just gonna kind of stand in the doorway. Just kind of stunned for a second. I'm gonna hold it out. it's the only thing I have. I don't have a weapon or anything.
00:19:00
Speaker
You... you... you will put them down. Ah, a follower of Ysakin. What are you doing here? a i'm I'm here save those kids from you. Oh,
00:19:23
Speaker
that's rich. As he says, rich, all three kids' heads reel back, mouth wide open as you watch.
00:19:38
Speaker
In an instant, their life force, their soul, just wisps out around this entity.
00:19:49
Speaker
Disappears into the darkness of it. He drops.
00:19:57
Speaker
As he's doing that, I'm probably going to start, or near the end, because Yellen's still a little bit stunned. ah He's going to run at them, and then like kind of whiff as he... like disappears before he even gets there.
00:20:11
Speaker
As you run at him, See you next time, And he just faints. And I'm, at this point, Yellen is like, oh No, no, no, this isn't fair.
00:20:21
Speaker
i i can't. He's going to be like pumping ah he like different spells and and just throwing things at the wall to hope it works. Please, please. You do this for a while.
00:20:35
Speaker
desperately trying to revive these kids. It's going to be happening so young. It's not fair. I don't... Fuck! Fuck! It's... once again, you're not even sure how much.
00:20:54
Speaker
You're so lost in the tragedy, the trauma of trying to save the kids who are unsavable.
00:21:03
Speaker
Then you hear a voice from the doorway that you barged in. It's familiar. Yellen, what are you doing here? Fuck, it's too late.
00:21:12
Speaker
Where have you been? Tracing down the job. Obviously I was too late. It's always too late. We never get here on time.
00:21:26
Speaker
It's not fair. We can't just guide them to the afterlife if their souls aren't fucking here. i don't understand. Yellen, Yellen. Life is not fair. No, I-I-I know, but-but they don't have to die.
00:21:41
Speaker
That one can't be older than five. Yellen, last week, did we not save a whole town? Hundreds of people. Where there is good.
00:21:54
Speaker
There will also be bad. We cannot succeed every time. It doesn't have to be every time. It just has to be this time. I... I know. i say pulls you in. I know, Helen.
00:22:05
Speaker
I know. They're just kids. I... It never gets easier. I promise you it never does. I don't care how calm I sound. It never gets easier.
00:22:18
Speaker
You just have to learn to accept that you can't always be there.
00:22:25
Speaker
I have to be, I have to find a way. i It's not fair, it's not fair, it's not, it's not fair. The night fades away into memory of your master consoling you once of the many, many times.
00:22:48
