Fantasy Rugby Division 1 Insights
00:00:27
Speaker
Hey everybody, welcome back. It is the Fantasy Rugby Yanks. My name is Jared Dyke. I'm Ben Glauser. We're into the Fantasies. Let's go straight to Championks. We recap Division 1.
00:00:44
Speaker
I did a tiny bit of movement, not much. Justin dropped a spot and I jumped him and Cobus jumped Duncan and everybody else stays pat. So you get to be the meat in the sandwich there, Ben. Yeah, I know. I had a pretty damn good week.
00:01:05
Speaker
Wasn't good enough to joke because good week. That's why so right like everybody in front of me had a pretty good week, too So there's it's it's it's time. Yeah, that's just what 40 points between me and the next guy So and then there's 30 between 20 for between you and me. Yeah, so
00:01:24
Speaker
Yeah. So there's a ways to go, but I have, I have, I had a couple down weeks and it started to turn
Team Standings and Player Changes
00:01:28
Speaker
around. So yeah. And so Stanings Lee read as follows. Uh, George Stu, Cobus, Duncan, Ben, myself, Justin, and Mark. I got the yellow hat this week. Justin got the spoon. That's why we switched. Yeah. I had not had a good run. So I'm glad I was able to dig myself out of that. Um,
00:01:50
Speaker
Yeah, you got a good little one there, too. You had to I mean, you got to get rid of Reed. I know. I mean, that could not swing at this week. But yeah, that's the whole idea. I got rid of Roebuck. Yeah, that was funny because you end up scoring. But I was like, yeah, whatever. Division two reads movement all over the place. It was like, yep. So Anton Paul, Alex, Paul jumped out this week. Franco.
00:02:19
Speaker
Abbry Barty and Luke. Luke holding up the bottom right now pretty firmly. Not that bad, actually.
Division 2 Updates and Rankings Discussion
00:02:27
Speaker
Never mind. I stay corrected. I stay corrected. By the way, you're back in the top five in the US. The US, yeah. You're up to four. I'm up to two. Let's ridicule everyone that's doing worse than my wife. Yeah, shit. She's doing pretty, she had a good week too, if I'm not mistaken. Where'd she go?
00:02:50
Speaker
Doo-doo-doo loser. I'm there. My eyes are losing, obviously. There she is. Oh, there she is. No, she dropped. Oh, she dropped. Yeah, she dropped. Oh, because she had. Yeah. That's all right. She had read also mail. Yeah. Yeah. Well, Clark didn't have a game. But but the best part is, though, in the American rankings, she's still better than.
00:03:19
Speaker
two people. I don't care for that much. So I'm like, yeah, that's, that's, that's awesome. She's been, she's she's captain down at Alex Stombran and had Marcus. She, yeah, she, that helped. Yeah, that helped. Yeah. She's 17th in the US. Like everybody from
00:03:43
Speaker
I don't know, probably, let's look, ever from like one Oh eight down is probably just losing it. So there's like a bunch of people that just never joined. Wow.
PWR Performances and Player Highlights
00:03:58
Speaker
Rugby rackups, not the women. That was one of the people I was talking about fantasy jump all the way to 30. Yeah. And there's still,
00:04:10
Speaker
Still 200 points worse than me. And they're still like 70 points worse than Catherine. So. Yeah. Losers. Yeah. Well. I mean, when you hang out with a guy like Vandy, it's going to happen. Yeah, that's true. That dude is cringe.
00:04:32
Speaker
All right. What's up? I said we're only slightly cringe. Yeah. PWR recap. So we had two weeks in one.
00:04:45
Speaker
and one basically, because we made the foster Harper in Quinn's game at Twicken on its own thing. So we had, so Duncan has had three, the three best weeks, the last three weeks of the last three rounds. So he has vaulted himself to second and I am squarely in third along with George right on my butt.
00:05:11
Speaker
There is five points between Duncan in second and Ryan in fifth. Wow. Yep. Yep. And I'm only 20 points clear of Duncan, so not even. The performers in the round two weeks ago were
00:05:33
Speaker
RJ, um, Marley Packer, KZ, KZ had a day, um, to Tossi and Abby Dow. And then from last week with the big game Matthews, Brony Cleo, that was one that Duncan pulled out. Well done, sir. Uh, Rachel Lund, Sarah Beckett and Tatiana Hurd.
00:05:51
Speaker
So yeah, so those those big one for for Duncan. He had a couple of good ones between That one and then Marley Packer the other week Abby Dow as well. Like that was a good call on him a
Upcoming Week Player Picks
00:06:03
Speaker
couple weeks ago. So well done. Well played our picks this week Are as follows So I'm going with Mentioned her just now Emily to Tosi for exiting
00:06:18
Speaker
Nice. Good one. She has a pretty good matchup there. I had to look twice to make sure I hadn't taken my back. But I don't think I've taken her. And that's a shame. And I'm going to rectify that by picking Jess Breach this round. Yep.
00:06:40
Speaker
And my kicker, because I'm basically down to scraps, um, is Vicki Irwin of San Diego, Vicki Irwin. Well, at least she's home. True. Um, so I'm going to go, no Jones from cluster heartbreak. Like it. Yeah. Um, I also had to double check, make sure I hadn't taken Jess breach. So I'm taking her this week, keeping, um, keeping a couple of keeping another one of the backs on my back pocket though. Right. And then, um, I haven't picked it yet. So I'm going to take Gabby can turn to this week. There you go.
00:07:09
Speaker
That's a good, yeah. She should do all right. Yep. So yeah, a lot of people. She got a zero for me when I picked her. Yeah, I know. At least she does better for you. It could have been worse because I originally I thought that she had taken the last two conversions, which were missed. It was actually Tessie that had taken them. So that could have been a negative, which would have been way worse. Yeah.
00:07:32
Speaker
By the way, if you get your picks in late, like after kickoff, you are allowed to be on rugby time, but you're also paying the rugby penalty of 10
Fantasy Rugby Rules and Penalties
00:07:40
Speaker
points. So just FYI. So if you're late, get them in. Great. We're content with making changes because we have one of our players, actually not more than one, who will be like, you know what? Let me
00:07:55
Speaker
We change over here and we change over there. And look, as long as that game hasn't kicked off, that's fine. And there's no, you know, there's there's there's some stern looks, but no penalties. But yeah, get your original lineup in on time, please. Yeah, and get them in all two years. Yeah, there's a few. If you were looking at over here, I reached out to one of them directly, so.
00:08:18
Speaker
Yeah, no. The other one I just figured would do it and neither did. Nope. No, there were messages sent. Okay. So it's not like we're not trying. Right. Anyway, let's see who starts it. Yes.
Match Analysis: Sale vs Bristol
00:08:31
Speaker
Oh, I started off because I have the three. You are on lead up. All right. Sale hosting Bristol.
00:08:38
Speaker
From a fantasy perspective, this game is poop. Sail are ninth in attack, fifth in defense. Bears are fifth in attack, and sixth in defense. Sail have seven players averaging over 10 points per game. None of them over 13 points a game. So basically, what you're
00:08:55
Speaker
looking at is nobody's scored over 13 points a game at all. There's just not many points going around. And there's only six players have scored are averaging over 10 in their last start. So we guess one or two here had a great match and then have just been since then. Yep.
00:09:12
Speaker
So, but the six that we're talking about here are Luke Cowan Dickey, who is not that great scoring as, you know, there's some better ones out there. Dan Duprios hurt Ben Curry, George Ford, and then Rob Duprios is only averaging 9.2 for his last five. So, and then there's a Flaherty and Carpenter who, yeah.
00:09:34
Speaker
So yeah, if you were going to drop one of them, I would have dropped Reed over Carpenter because Reed's averaging under 10 his last five stars. Right.
00:09:44
Speaker
Bristol is also third against loose forwards and fly halves. They're ninth against centers, Dupree, and fifth versus outside backs. So there's just not great options here for sale. I don't like it. For Bristol, sale or weakest against locks and scrum halves. And everywhere else, they're fifth or better. So I'm still looking at their hookers for Bristol. Joe Batley is averaging 11 and 1.5 in his last five starts, which for a lock is pretty good. He's, I think, three units.
00:10:13
Speaker
Yeah, he's a, you know, that mid range and he's he but he's putting put it out. So Randall's an OK start. Look elsewhere other than their fly haves. And maybe maybe a bit toy and mail into the back three. Everyone else kind of meh on for the terms of starting average. Batley is top eight. But that also includes likes of Martin, who has two starts, Hammond and Lamb, who are who are hurt as well. Right. Just keep that. So.
00:10:42
Speaker
Yeah. Solid play this week. Yes. I mean, I say in general, it's just the fact that wind and sail are actually weak against lock. So that's... There you go. There's your golden ticket, guys. Anyway,
Match Analysis: Newcastle vs Quinn's
00:10:57
Speaker
Newcastle and Quinn. So this will be interesting in terms of who Quinn send.
00:11:01
Speaker
So that's the one thing that kind of puts a question mark over everything. Other than that, pretty straightforward. Newcastle, there's three guys that are solid maybes and one, and actually one of them is kind of a less maybe. And that's Bulmaia, Pepper and Chick. Bulmaia and Pepper are my favorite. Everybody else don't really care. No, thank you. Pass. Nobody's scoring right now for them. So until they also start scoring and make their valuation worth the goddamn, I don't want anything to do with them.
00:11:28
Speaker
For the Quinn's, this should be interesting. So for their props, I say Collier over Marlar right now. Collier is number 11 in average scoring for props. Newcastle are also less versus props. So upside there for him. Marlar's a maybe for me. I don't, I don't love it. His average isn't great. Um, they might send Sam Riley this week up there too. So, and he scored. Okay. So I give him a yes. Um,
00:11:55
Speaker
In terms of their locks, my favorite ones are lamb, Hammond, and launch break. Two of them are injured, and the other one I don't want to play, so. Right. And Levis is also hurt now. And Levis is also hurt now, too. Jesus, that guy can't catch a break. Yeah, he can't catch a break, poor fellow.
00:12:12
Speaker
For their Lucy's Dom over web, but both are guesses should they play if cutting himself plays instead of any of those He's iffy because he's not scored well so far and Newcastle are a little tougher at Kingston as opposed to traveling. So just keep that in mind We should begin with you home home in a way soon, too Yeah, I gotta I gotta sort that out now that we have enough to more than enough data, right? I
00:12:42
Speaker
Porter is my favorite Scrum half right now. Yes, DC had a good game last week, but I think Porter might get the start and Newcastle are terrible. He's half back, so he's a thumbs up. We might see Jared Evans. He's a go. Obviously, if we see Marcus, he's a go.
00:12:58
Speaker
In terms of the centers, my favorite is will Joseph if he's not hurt. Um, but both Joseph and Andre are yeses for me this week. Um, the back three green, early line, I'm early in line are still banged up. So dismiss them and green still go for me to spit the yellow card last week. Exeter hosting saints.
Match Analysis: Exeter vs Saints
00:13:21
Speaker
This one, again, I'm seamless with your situation there. I'm wondering what the saints sends. Um,
00:13:28
Speaker
but I hope they put out a full noise team because they could do it. And they kind of need the points. So for Exeter, their props are cheap and they score well.
00:13:40
Speaker
Oh, first off, the Exeter are fourth in attack, seventh in defense. Saints are top in both categories. Best in defense, best in attack. Exeter, props are cheap and they score fairly well. I think Josefa Scott was the highest scoring prop this week. So Ching, he's a million or one unit, whatever. He should be on your team. Even if they're on the bench.
00:14:03
Speaker
They'll still score pretty well. Frost is also a cheap option at Hooker, as long as he plays and isn't being an ass on the field. Cheap freaking helmet. Fissilel is somebody who probably, and I did this in the Champions Cup, I should do it here.
00:14:20
Speaker
is just throw two units down on him and just stone on your bench. Because you know, he's going to start in that way. And if anybody drops, you got somebody who's going to put in and give you like seven points or so that you wouldn't, you know, better than a zero. Right. And he's cheap. So that gives that helps you extend your your cap money. Yeah. Slade is only valuable when he has the tea. I don't really consider that very good. He's still only sworn like 16 and 19 or whatever. Like Marcus Smith had 35. So why the fuck would I not?
00:14:50
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know why I would do that. Just lay the tea and he'll also be super expensive. So, no, their value just isn't there for me. But Fei Woboso, Hodge and Wyatt, and I think Hodge and Wyatt are either not healthy now, they will be soon. So they're coming back. That's going to be a big pickup. Hodge is going to be one of those guys, start working towards getting them on your team.
00:15:14
Speaker
For the Saints, Exeter are tough versus halfbacks. Everywhere else, they're bottom half. Langdon is tough to fit in here. You love him. I love what I'm seeing from him. The problem is you're space limited. You only have four Saints. I know. That's what makes that difficult.
00:15:38
Speaker
But the lock should still be fine, even though Exeter, they're pretty strong against the position for Exeter, they're sixth. But they'll score, again, they make the tackles easy to make. So that really helps the points count. Pearson's kind of falling off the mark, but should be all right here. I think Augustus is going to outscore him, though. Yeah, no, I think Truckee's the guy to have now.
00:16:03
Speaker
Yeah, the halfbacks. Yeah, don't worry. Start of anyway. The centers are kind of meh on, but the OBs. Yup. And obviously centers include, you know, that does not include Freeman, who is an outside back. If he's playing 13, he's still an outside back playing 13. So, yup. On your Sefa Scott note, he is fourth in average scoring. Yeah. Starting average. Right. So he's pretty good.
00:16:32
Speaker
I mean, and remember, like, there's only three players that are averaging over 10 and one of them has one start. Right. The other one has another one has two. Yeah. So. So, yeah, that's eight good. Right. It's good for a prop. Yeah. Just remember that. All right. Lost my notes. There we go.
Match Analysis: Lester vs Saracens
00:16:51
Speaker
Lester and series. All right. Here we go. So for the Tigers.
00:16:56
Speaker
Haze is a popular pick, but I'd set him because actually series do well against tight heads. I'm going to say Sittman Toja this week for the locks Martin over Cheslem. Cheslem actually isn't scoring well right now. Martin, yes though. He's very dynamic for a lock for sure. He makes a lot of tackles. Yep, that too.
00:17:15
Speaker
For the back row, my favorite is in this order, Visa, Liebenberg, and Rafel. Pollard, yes, Doi. Neither center, Kata over either Kelly or Porter, but I have to say I was looking at center average scoring up and down the board. It's tough. Midfield's really tough, another tough spot to find a good score. If you find a decent one,
00:17:38
Speaker
Obviously, Ollie Lawrence is top of the tree, but after that, there's very few people that are averaging above 10. Litchfield's one of them. He's only got two starts. Northmore's broken. Redpath, yes. O'Connor's got one start. James Williams has one start, so it's really hard to justify that.
00:18:01
Speaker
Nine are up. Great. Although a couple of guys like Bakutao. I think James Williams, when he started, was playing 10 and had the tee. So that's you have to consider that too. Yep. Yep. He was. Yeah. Bakutao is scoring better in the last five percent or so. Just keep that in mind as well.
00:18:19
Speaker
Yeah. Anyway, so yeah, neither reporter or Kelly Kata. Okay. Um, back, back three players, um, steward brown, OHC in that order, which is banged up, I think though. So, um, for the series, um, mako, even if he plays and doesn't get the right try to rescinded, sit him, this is not going to be his game whatsoever. Not worth the value anyway.
00:18:42
Speaker
Um, the other hooker jinx with the, oh, yep. Maro, uh, there are locks look like this Maro is sick way Theo and tis. And I'm actually going to say set Theo or tis right now, unless Theo's playing in the background. That's the only caveat on that one. He's just not there yet. Um,
00:19:02
Speaker
And then in terms of actual back rows, right now my favorite are Earl and Juan Gonzalez, and then Christy, and then Dilly, and they're actually all startable this week, so. Bensai, I'll start. Faz, yes. Yes, Manu, but close your eyes and hope for the best, honestly. Not sure it'll have to go as well. Lewington, Shagan, and Parton, yes, good set.
00:19:31
Speaker
Alright, last we end up at the Rec.
Match Preview: Bath vs Gloucester
00:19:34
Speaker
Bath hosting Gloucester. Bath are 6th in attack, 4 in defense. That attack number I think went down after this past week. Gloucester are 8 and 8. So not good.
00:19:47
Speaker
For Bath, the front row, they're kind of out because again, you're space limited. You want the guys like Barbary, Spencer, Finn, Lawrence, Muir, Koka, and Tom DeGlanville, if he's playing. So you want to start as many of those as you can. Then Lawrence's, I mean, obviously Finn and Lawrence are very expensive. Barbary's only four. Spencer, I think, is five. He's at the top end.
00:20:13
Speaker
Mir and Deglanville are cheap and Koka is what, seven. He's kind of mid-range, but he gives pretty high, he's scoring at a high level. So yes, the front row are there, but you're going to want your bath spots for those other guys. That's the problem there. That's why I would kind of point you towards Exeter for the front row because you don't really want any of their other guys, too many of their other guys.
00:20:41
Speaker
Um, but then look at the other side for Gloucester, it's kind of hard to find players outside of the props, um, like Wigan Mercer. And, and even Louisry salmon isn't scoring all that well. Um, so it's really like, that's where you'd look, you know, I said, exit her before now. I'm looking at Gloucester. Um, Elrington actually, but he, he's only started the one game and I guess he, and he dropped, which pissed me off. He was going to play. Um, so that would have given him two. Right. Um,
00:21:11
Speaker
But there's like, there's guys there too. I would, I would look for them. And I think I had McWiggan on my bench. Um, and he, I think it was a top scoring hooker this past week. So, um, yeah, like look, look for the teams like lost her for your front row plus for an extra different rows, but no worries. Yeah. Either lock as well. I like them. Me likes them, especially considering another tough position to score at. There's only.
00:21:39
Speaker
I don't know. Right. There's only four or five that score. Not many, uh, above, um, 10, 10 on average.
Star Player of the Week
00:21:48
Speaker
Yeah. So yeah, keep that in mind. Yeah. All my, all my, there's my favorite. Um, so I haven't pulled this guy out of the hat and he's one to pull one out of the hat and he's got a favorable matchup. He's rested. He's at home and it's just,
00:22:07
Speaker
Too easy. Ben Russell's my star of the week. Uh, we are in agreement, sir. Oh no. Don't surf it. Because well, like, look, so here's what I'm like, I have, I have Marcus Smith. I don't think he's playing today or this week. No, he probably won't. Oh, and Farrell. I,
00:22:30
Speaker
would have no actually Lester, I think are the the 11th versus I think only Newcastle are worse than than than Lester against fly halves. He's up there, but Gloucester are and they're on the road and like all this all stacks up. Finn's going to torture him, I think. Lester are middle of the pack against tense. Really? Yep. Just looking at that.
00:23:01
Speaker
Yeah, 14.8. We give up more. Weird. Yeah, right. I was sober when I was looking at it, I swear. Maybe you shouldn't have been. No, they're at 16 and a half. They're at their ninth against fly house. Then you sent me the wrong thing. No, I didn't. I'm looking right now at what's up on the on the drive. I downloaded that, so. Oh, well.
00:23:30
Speaker
We got to go to check out what you're doing. Oh, I mean, we'll talk about it later. You may have gotten the wrong one. Yes. See? Ben's trying to screw with me over here, guys. All right. Anyway, so see you in the week.
00:23:47
Speaker
Guy already faced this team once, didn't do well, and they don't see why he's going to do any better.
Player Spotlight: Henry Slade
00:23:52
Speaker
They've just been clogging up his channel. And yeah, the only way he survives is with the tee, and even that may not save him. So my set of the week is going to be Henry Slade. All right. My set of the week, I'm going to give you some insider knowledge that isn't even on the sheet that we give out, because it's just that super secret. Actually, it's just that so in-depth
00:24:17
Speaker
We thought it would be boring. The Saracens are giving away an average of six points per match to eight men. The next lowest in the league is Saints and Bristol tied at 10.1.
00:24:35
Speaker
So they're giving out 60% of the next low, like they're, they're, they're just shutting down eight men. And this is even with their, their like split side, like given whatever. So my city of the week this week is Jasper visa.
00:24:56
Speaker
I mean, that's just this is a this is a gift to you people. This is not the of course now watch him go off, but this is not right. It's just how it works, right? Especially because like that's I mean, that's my plan is actually probably going to hopefully they throw Ben Earl out there and that's going to switch him over. Visitor or something like that, or or him to Daubert, depending on who who who plays. Right.
00:25:21
Speaker
But yeah, this is, this was always kind of a short term rental for me because Lester just aren't scoring that well. And it's kind of, uh, I don't want it to work its way into him.
Game Predictions and Insights
00:25:31
Speaker
Take them sail Bristol. Uh, the hosts sale. Yeah. Newcastle Quinn's. Uh, it doesn't matter who the fuck the Quinn's sent. I would tell you to start Will Evans if, uh, not Will Evans, um, Jared, he's the 10 cause he scored really well. Um, I said that.
00:25:51
Speaker
We go for yeah, Harlequin's. Oh, yeah. Yeah Exeter Saints Saints. Yes Again, I'm wondering what they need the points so yeah, they've shown the control. Yeah Luster saris, I don't see whether we need to rest everybody two weeks in a row. So it's saris. Yep It's gonna be a ding donger. But yep series
00:26:17
Speaker
I think it's going to resemble the game we went to. That's just me. It's at Wellford Road, no way. That's the only difference. Not a chance. I said resemble. No, no, no, no, no. Not even close, dude. It's going to be a nail whiter and it's going to be a smasher. This will not be for the faint of heart. We'll see. I have the hosts in the last one. Yeah, that's what I figured.
00:26:43
Speaker
All right. Yeah, short sweep to the point. Cool. Yeah. So like I said, I'll get Boombust out on tomorrow and then we'll do our sheet on Friday as usual. But yeah, could be back in the saddle. Hope everybody enjoyed.
Conclusion and Future Content
00:27:08
Speaker
Make sure that you, yeah, make sure that you frickin' give that man George a bit of a coin. But on that, we'll talk to y'all next week. Later. Cheers.
