00:01:46
Speaker
Tell them where you're from.
Promotions and Shoutouts

on your Well, they don't use radio dials anymore. It's all digital. All new radio waves. mean, ah I wouldn't say that. I have a boom box on top of my fridge, and that thing has a dial, so I don't want to hear that. I still use a dial. No, that boom box is literally from the military, like 20 years ago. This boom box is from, like, 25 years ago. It's old as shit. Anyways. All right, cool. Thank you, my brother. Yeah, we really appreciate BB joining me for another show. Again, we're going to keep it light on this one since
Knicks as Underdogs: A Rocky Comparison
00:03:02
Speaker
we just did a bunch of NBA talk. Y'all check that out. But I did want to, at least for people that don't watch this show, talk about it. The New York Knickerbockers ended a 53-year reign of terror. No Wu-Tang puns this time because it'll take too long, but you might want to go check that out too. um
00:03:21
Speaker
ah since 1979 won their first title, beating the San Antonio Spurs. What say you about these series? Give us your thoughts. i Played out the way I thought it was. except I had the Nixon five.
00:03:34
Speaker
ah They were playing the best basketball team coming into the finals of any team in the NBA, even though Spurs were playing wells i'm set well themselves. It just started to be a battle of ah experience versus inexperience, and that's kind of how i played out. However, just to not sound the same as I did before, this series can actually be compared to Rocky.
00:03:54
Speaker
Hmm. See, game one. Always on the comeback. Yeah, game one was just like Rocky won. You know, it was everybody. Remember, it was a foregone conclusion coming into the finals that locally. OK, San Antonio series was the finals. And whoever won that series would destroy the Cavs or Knicks.
00:04:12
Speaker
So, you know, Knicks came into game one as the heavy underdog. But they got in there. Game two was a lot like Rocky, Rocky, too. that You know, you had to prove game one wasn't a fluke.
00:04:24
Speaker
Game three was like Rocky three. I like that first official L clubber lane. Yeah. Oh, shit. I see where you're going now. All right. you Game four.
00:04:35
Speaker
Rocky four. The 29 point lead. Drago kicking that ass all fight until oh that one that one left hook. That was a protection. It's not a machine.
00:04:47
Speaker
He's a man. And next come back and ran and then game five was like Rocky five street fight. Who wants it more? Jane and Brunson came up and stepped up and took it home.
00:05:00
Speaker
So Wow. Tremendous analogy, my friend. a Great analogy there. I know you know your movies and your
Knicks' Victory Highlights
00:05:10
Speaker
sports well. So great blending there. That was that was perfect. I know that makes a lot of sense. The Knicks and the Spurs, a lot like the Rocky movies. Wow. it's Tremendous. But yeah, um the Knicks, we talked about it. Inexperience hurt the Spurs.
00:05:24
Speaker
all season or all series long, the Knicks put themselves down each game, but were also able to come back. So yes, you have a negative of going down every game and for some reason putting your back against the wall and making it harder than it needs to be. But on the pro side, as you mentioned, Jalen Brunson, even in you know you know scoring all these points to lead these comebacks,
00:05:48
Speaker
for them to win, and especially in that 27-point comeback when they were down. Wu-Tang Clan, shout out to them for performing, giving the boost. But... ah It really did. It was a comeback every other time every time and every time they were able to do it. And they did it so much that they were able to beat the Spurs 4-1. Again, we talked about the inexperience of the coach, the youth of the Spurs. We talked about we will that they will be back. We both expect them to at least win one championship in the future. We both expect that the Knicks will have a lot more harder time and most likely will not. go back to back.
00:06:26
Speaker
um So any other thoughts on these teams or that series? ah Shout to Jalen Brunson because in his, I can't remember. NBA MVP, baby. Yeah. I can't remember if it was in the speech he made for them winning or if it was the MVP speech.
00:06:40
Speaker
But he yeah he actually pointed to, he was like, hey, we We, you know, we were late to every game. We so we thought every game started at 930, not 830. So, you know, it's it's good to see him even acknowledge, like, how the slow starts that they got off to in the series. But, again, he maintained, hey, you know, we kept our poise and our patience because we had been there and done that.
00:07:02
Speaker
And, you know, and it held true. So shout to Jaden Bronson. Shout out to him. And his dad, and um anybody out there, correct me if I'm wrong.
00:07:13
Speaker
I believe they are the first father-son duo to win rings together. Yes, that is correct, I believe. i believe. Maybe any sport. Hold on, let me check that real quick. i' will you You keep going, I will check.
00:07:25
Speaker
Yeah, I think that because people forget his dad is on the coaching staff, so he actually will get a ring for this championship. I know Griffey and Griffey's played together, but they didn't win the championship.
00:07:40
Speaker
Yeah, would it would be very hard to find another one i'm thinking maybe hockey, though, maybe could have happened. Yeah, as you could be right. Like I said, I'm going to... No, no, no, no. Wait a second.
00:07:52
Speaker
Hold on. Wait a second. First duo... It'd be like a... Oh, wait. No, no, no. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Here's a name I have in my head. There's a hockey family I haven't...
00:08:04
Speaker
have the name. It's probably hockey. But yeah, NBA, NBA for sure. NBA, only one NBA. They're the only one. Yeah. um So shout out to the Bronsons.
00:08:16
Speaker
Yeah, no, I mean, you can't you can't shoot that down, right? um Being able to share that bond with your father and be able to do something and accomplish something. And even at that, when it's ah it's a very fine line, when you look at a father-son relationship or any kind of nepotismal relationship in sports, when, you know, like the like the coach that his son is the quarterback.
00:08:40
Speaker
or something like that. Like, you know, you always have these things where, okay, now we're towing the fine line of, is this, you know, going to be harmful to the team because of this relationship? But they managed to not only, ah you know, manage it very well, but obviously it helped propel them, even though, you know, he has to treat him as a player and not
Brunson Father-Son Legacy
00:09:00
Speaker
as a son sometimes.
00:09:01
Speaker
Absolutely. Absolutely. So... And this all could have been avoided had the Dallas Mavericks went ahead gave Jalen Brunson like $50 million. He
00:09:12
Speaker
only asked for $50 million. Yeah. yeah And they they said no. And, you know, the rest is history. Leeds and free agency. Signs with the Knicks. And here we are. I mean, that's crazy, bro. That's crazy. And imagine that because I meant to bring, I'm glad you brought that up because these are new topics that weren't on the last show. I meant to bring this up last show. But imagine had they had kept Rundsen and had Doncic instead of Kylie Irving, they could have beat my Celtics in that championship possibly.
00:09:40
Speaker
Probably could have made it a better series. Definitely would have have been a better series. Probably wouldn't have won. I'm lying. I'm trying to give them a little more hope. But it would have been a better series. It would have been a better series. was Yeah, it They might have been able to push it to 7, maybe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think so. I think so. I think so. Yeah, yeah. Okay, cool. No, awesome talk there. Can you hear that music or no? Because I cannot hear the music. Not there it is. I hear now.
00:10:04
Speaker
you hear now? Okay. I'm just going to turn it Not anymore. You don't hear it anymore? There we go. Now I it. Okay. Is it loud? No, it's like at about a four. Okay. Perfect. All right. That's where want right. Just background music. All right, y'all. So anyways, yeah. So pretty historic there for them to do that. And the Knicks to get history as well. 53 years. Shout out my boy, Jason Aponte was on our last show and the Knicks fans out there. The only thing I have to say again, we'll have to mention this. We talked about it on the last show.
00:10:35
Speaker
Knicks fans, you were the blight on the NBA championship being won in your city to go out there and harass, beat up, threatened to, you know, set on fire, set on fire, buses, all these other things. Look, I get the buses that find we riot in Philly, we riot in DC, we do things, okay? Things happen.
00:10:57
Speaker
But, threatening or harming anyone else bodily wise because they're a fan of another team is just completely unacceptable yeah absolutely ah yeah I mean i've I've seen it happen being from Cleveland like i've I've gone to Browns games and I've seen some people come in the game and certain attire and leave without that attire so I mean it's unfortunate no matter where you go but and this is after wins you know after wins this is after wins You ain't even mad, son. You you ain't even mad. you You in a good mood and you're doing this. That's what we're doing. hopefully ah in the future, you know, we can just do better.
00:11:39
Speaker
Yes, completely agree. I just wanted to we had, you know, had to put the PSA out there for other than anybody who didn't watch the last show that needs to be said. All right, cool. So let's keep
Stanley Cup Near Win: Golden Knights
00:11:50
Speaker
it moving. Then let's move on to the NHL finals were this weekend. And I'm sorry, Bobby G, your Las Vegas Golden Knights came up short losing what what was an amazing series, though. It was really good at first. Now, the they won the last couple of games, but those first few games Went into overtime ah twice, had ah one goal games the first couple games. um you know But Carolina, I believe, was the better team um you know overall during the season. Now, that being said, shout out to your Las Vegas Golden Knight. This stat is always one that gets me.
00:12:29
Speaker
um Your sports professor is that the Las Vegas Knights... ah as an as a ah expansion team, excuse me, in the league, are the first expansion team ever to go to the conference finals five out of their first nine years in the sport.
00:12:48
Speaker
That is wild. you don't You'll go to the conference finals five times in a row as an established good team. much less an expansion team that comes on with lesser players. So salute to the Vegas Knights for that. But you are the Vegas Knights expert here on the show, so talk to us. What happened to your team? um Yeah, I agree. Most people had Carolina as the better team coming in, ah even to go as far as I heard. you know I had somebody tell me,
00:13:16
Speaker
that the Knights had a quote-unquote less than a puncher's chance boom wow winning of winning the Stanley Cup. i know, because after after game right after game one right after game one, that was proven incorrect. But ah this is this is just it um almost a mirror of the NBA Finals, right? it was It was that the Golden Knights gave us away.
00:13:42
Speaker
Like you have a three goal lead in game two and you you can't lose that game. A three goal lead going into the final period. You can't lose that game. If they win that game changes the entire series because now you're talking about position to be enough 3-0 because we won game three at home in overtime.
00:14:00
Speaker
And so, yeah, game two definitely flipped series. ah Same with the ah was game four. It was it's just so for just mistakes. you Watched Carolina executed better. I give them full credit. They executed better.
00:14:17
Speaker
Just like the Knicks, they did not panic the no matter what the situation was. They didn't panic when they were down on three. They didn't panic at any other time when they got down in the series. They just continued with the strategy and the game plan. They executed.
00:14:29
Speaker
And let's face it, the last the final three games of the series, they outplayed Vegas, including the final game, which was just a wash. So a shout out to the Carolina Panthers. And, ah you know, as we've seen now, five out of the nine years, I'm pretty i'm pretty sure we'll be back.
00:14:50
Speaker
So. Yeah, I mean, your team continues to make it. and You know, you got Eichel. there as your star and some other good players around him, Marisol and some other good players. So your team is set to keep going up there. But, you know, you got to wonder what's going to happen now that you might lose John Tortorella as his future is up in the air ah with Vegas.
00:15:15
Speaker
um But you're right. It was a good series at first. You won game one, five to four, lost game two, four to three, then came back and won game three, five to four. So you're up two to one at that point. And then you're you're right. Carolina just outplayed Vegas, winning by at least two goals to close out the series on a three to nothing run there. So you're right. You establish yourself as the ah play the team that played better, at least at the beginning of the series. And then at the end,
00:15:45
Speaker
just weren't able to complete it. Yeah. So we'll be back. We'll be back. Hey, yeah. No, I, like I said, y'all have a good team. So I don't, i don't see anything different in that. I'm going to see if I can't find ah maybe some odds here for next season, if they have it on NHL.com, but we'll keep it moving for now while we do that. UFC 250 at the white house last night.
UFC 250: Politics and Fights
00:16:12
Speaker
um Wowzers. What an event. Now, Again, we are not going to do political talk on this show, but there was a lot of talk about UFC Freedom 250 and even why it should have been done.
00:16:31
Speaker
um You know, a lot of people, you know, saying it was for Donald Trump's birthday, this, that and forth. Granted, his birthday just happened to fall 250. We can't say anything about that. He he didn't choose that, but... He did.
00:16:43
Speaker
I mean, he didn't choose when he was born is what I meant. No, he chose when he was born, but he chose to have the event on his birthday. sure Sure, sure. No, no. Got that. But he didn't choose when to be born. He just happened to be next to the 250th birthday. So he did this.
00:16:56
Speaker
A lot of people could be upset. A lot of people were very happy. Again, that might be, depending on where you fight, fall on the political spectrum. I, at first...
00:17:06
Speaker
um I won't lie. I thought it was a complete waste of money, especially with what we got going on in Iran right now with the war that we're in. I didn't think we should be wasting frivolous money on other things such as a UFC cage in a ballroom. But I will tell you, after watching last night, not only was that a spectacle to behold and one of the the greatest sporting events I've ever seen, including the quality of matches that we had and all the finishes, but also,
00:17:36
Speaker
um You know, the the the military aspect of it, the girl, her name was Hannah something. Shout out to her. One of the most amazing performances I've seen in a while. She killed that shit. So the military people being there on it was good. But then again, you got the other side. The rich politicians are all there. You're leaving a lot of the every people on the ellipse. You got 85,000 people that wish they could be there, but you can't because you ain't got enough money sort of thing. So look, I understand all of it.
00:18:05
Speaker
But I cannot deny that that was one of the greatest sporting event spectacles that I've ever seen in my whole entire life. And I'm not mad that I wasted five hours sitting in front of the TV watching. Not wasted, but spent five hours.
00:18:19
Speaker
That was a long ass event too. Yeah, and I'm not gonna make it about politics either. I'm gonna make it about good old fashioned narcissism.
00:18:30
Speaker
ah Because if you if it's about America, I mean, I don't know. Anybody out there happen to know what day July 4th falls on? ye the Saturday?
00:18:44
Speaker
What day are normal UFC events held? look Saturdays? So, like, if it really was about America, it had lined up. That was 250 years in the making, but no, let's do it on my birthday, which is a set that's neither here nor there.
00:19:02
Speaker
I'm with you. you you are You're not wrong. It could have been on July 4th weekend. You're not wrong. It was a great card. Every fight ended in a finish. Of course it ends with the the masterful upset. Justin Gaethje. Wow. every one time yeahof Every time you want to count them out,
00:19:21
Speaker
you know, he surprises you and just total dismantling of a. Thank you. ah And he busted him up.
00:19:35
Speaker
He busted his face up, bro. Face look like nuts me. Oh, it was bad. And yes, Cyril gone with the upset. yeah Shout out to my boy, Johnny Munoz. Y'all check out the interview I did with former UFC fighter, Johnny Munoz, but he predicted the Cyril gone upset. That was crazy.
00:19:52
Speaker
yeah and then uh sean o'malley you know one of one of my favorites that's really needed a dub you know he's coming lost two of his last three and he needed that w to be in emphatic fashion uh because he was losing some of that or you know he's one of the few fighters who could actually main event an event without being a champion just that popular uh yeah so yeah he needed this to get kind of some of that confidence back i felt and he he did that and uh somebody i wasn't familiar with who i will be keeping an eye on in the future yo this that's mauricio rufi mauricio bro hey i like him i like him i'll definitely be keeping eye on him in the future man
00:20:39
Speaker
ah But yeah, great card. I would i was surprised. the only i would if If there was a down moment, ah Derek Lewis, man. just dad He just looked completely disinterested. yeah like He was just there for the check.
00:20:54
Speaker
Might be time for him to hang it up, bro. Yeah, look, I was hoping he would get the KO. I thought he'd come out and give everything in that first round. And on his walkout, he looked mean and ready and intimidating. And then he stepped in the ring and then all of a sudden, he just kind of like dropped.
00:21:12
Speaker
And then he got in the first round and he was completely gassed. after the first round and yeah, Hockett made him look bad. And it's not good. I like Derrick Lewis. Yeah. You know, I mean, he had he has some he has a wild personality. He says some rude things like what he said about Michelle Obama last night. No matter if you're about your politics again, you don't insult ah clearly, ah you know, a person of respect who is a woman biologically. I mean, it's not even a Not even not a fact. But anyways, aside from that, he's a good fighter. There's nothing you can say about that. He's a he's a good fighter that's now 10-0.
00:21:48
Speaker
And unfortunately, he's going to get a title shot soon if you don't like him or fortunately if you do. So hopefully, I hope when he does match up, I need Cyril Ghan to be on his A-game because I hate that dude.
00:22:00
Speaker
ah Cyril, get it done. Hey, Cyril, what an impressive victory over Alex Pereira. I didn't think that was going to happen. I picked AP as well.
00:22:13
Speaker
But shout out to a Darius Walls, who's just tuned in on Instagram, the Slim Reaper. He's an MF Attitude and m MMA champ. down in Memphis, Tennessee. Check out the interview I did with him last week. We also did picks.
00:22:25
Speaker
And he also said how um that was going to be a much tougher matchup than people thought as well with Ghan. So, like, look, man, Ghan proved that, you know, he came in at a good fit condition, looked ready, looked primed, and he came out and put a butt whooping on Pereira, and Pereira didn't know we hit him.
00:22:46
Speaker
but He was striking him from every angle and just didn't know he hit I do like what you said about O'Malley, though. He really did need that. And that was emphatic in front of the crowd, the pro-American crowd.
00:22:58
Speaker
Because, you know, obviously, Chaporia is from Georgia, but... The pro-American crowd was on the side. I was very surprised. I mean, Teporia, not Teporia, Iman's from Canada. And he came out with like the the Drake and the O Canada. Our troops were rightfully pissed. They were booing like shit. Shout out to our feather and brethren out there. um Any other thoughts on UFC 250 yesterday?
00:23:24
Speaker
No, I mean, great card. it was It was definitely lived up to the hype. um Hopefully we let's let's let's do this again. Let's get let's participate get some participation from some other historic landmarks. no let's Let's get one and Let's get one in Times Square. Let's do that. Shut down Times Square. Get one on.
00:23:42
Speaker
let's Let's do one in front of Mount Rushmore. Let's get some more historic store venues. Let's do one at the Grand Canyon. I like your thinking. Make it a thing. Just go to all the different minds. I like that. I love that idea.
00:23:59
Speaker
Now, they're not going to do it because they need to make the money from the fans. So it's not really, you know, going to need the money from the seats. But I'm sure there are locations close to every place where you can. Do it every so often. You know what I mean? Do it every so often. and And, you know, at least they let some of those troops in for free.
00:24:15
Speaker
So at the very least, I can say that. And even though I don't really like what Mark Zuckerberg does for social media, you've got to salute him for giving a pair of meta glasses to every blind veteran in the United States. Yeah, that's awesome. salute on that. Yeah.
00:24:29
Speaker
All right, cool. Well, we will keep it moving.
Serena Williams' Comeback
00:24:32
Speaker
Let's talk a little bit of Serena Williams. The goat of tennis is back. Yes, we did not expect this to be the case.
00:24:44
Speaker
But she came back, played in doubles, won her first match, lost the second. um She is announcing that she's coming out of retirement. We will see how much that is. Does she just come back for certain events like majors, like Tiger was doing for a little bit there? Does she come back full, full time? Can she even come back full, full time at...
00:25:07
Speaker
um You know, 44 years of age now. ah So there's a lot of questions to be had. But overall, and we'll get deeper into this guy. I got another question after after this that's going to dig into how she was actually able to come back.
00:25:21
Speaker
But how do you feel about ah her returning? Do you like this? Do you not? If you still got the bug and, you know, for the most part tennis being an individual sport, you're not disrupting much. Obviously, she's competing in doubles.
00:25:34
Speaker
and If you still got the bug and you still feel you can compete, can compete. And as long as you're not going to cheat the game, right? ah You know, don't cheat the game because if you cheat the game, you're in turn going to cheat the fans who come pay to support you.
00:25:49
Speaker
But yeah, if you got that, I'm all for it, man. and I'm a little more forward in your individual sports, like like tennis or like a golf, because you're not disrupting the team, Cameron. That makes sense.
00:26:01
Speaker
Taking somebody's spot or, you know, feeling that. feeling like Like, ah okay, and I know a lot of people are are in love with this idea. Like Aaron Donald coming back. like Like, there's a guy starting to defensive tackle who does not want Aaron Donald to come back. You know what mean? That's big facts. Right. He's like, wait a second, this is my job. now Exactly. Exactly. But, ah you know, she's not taking food off anybody else's plate.
00:26:25
Speaker
So I'm all for it. but Again, as long as you you don't cheat the game, i' I'm all for it. So shout out to her and good luck. I'm with you. I agree completely. I'm all for people coming back. If you love the game and you want to come back, that is perfectly fine. You do whatever your heart is content to do because lot people just can't get away from the sport when they get too deep into it. And she has been playing tennis for, you know, 30, 40 years now, 35 years now. So now the one thing I will say, and I saw the article today and I was like, holy shit, they're right.
00:26:59
Speaker
There was an article in The Athletic, shout out to The Athletic, where I get most of my news from. Serena Williams, it's it's entitled, Serena Williams and the Coming Reckoning with GLP-1s and Performance Enhancement.
00:27:15
Speaker
And so I started thinking of this. And I started thinking of all the people now that are mad skinny. Look at Charles Barkley. Don't even look like Charles Barkley no more. Look like one half of Charles Barkley. I mean, look at all of these celebrities that are, you know, half of themselves. And Serena Williams is one that was...
00:27:35
Speaker
yeah at a thick stage for a 40-year-old before she started taking, well-known to take, you know, GLP-1s. I started thinking about this, and this is performance-enhancing drug.
00:27:50
Speaker
If you have a drug that can make you skinny enough and fit enough to play a sport at an an age at an advanced age that you should not be able to do so, and especially tennis, which is a young woman's um You know, I started thinking, I'm like, that's going to be something in the future. It's not going matter to Serena, but for everybody that comes after her, I'm not saying it for Serena because, look, she's the goat. She can do whatever she wants because she did a lot before. She had our all her greatness before that. But...
00:28:21
Speaker
This is going to become a thing where teenagers are even using GLP ones. And maybe you have, you know, fatter teenagers that are good. I look, I'm fat, so um I say that with love. Fatter teenagers that maybe take it to get skinnier to be able to play sports and, you know, because maybe they're really good at tennis, but they just can't move around the court as well because tennis, you got to be able to run back and forth. You can't be big running back and forth. We all know this. So what do you think about that?
00:28:47
Speaker
So I mean, first thing, for a lot of these things, like you've got to be prescribed. So, um you know, this this I know they admit they make, you know, ah cheaper versions or generic versions that they try and get over there. But for the most part, for for the the ones that are certified. So because it's legal. to work Right. It's got to be prescribed. And okay um so no doctor is going to give it to you. Just say, I want to take this because like they're going to make sure that you're. you're Well, you never know. that upstairs That's how stairway started, too. And then they just started giving it away. so
00:29:21
Speaker
But um we also forget that there's a tagline that comes with that, right? These things do work, but also with diet and exercise. So it's like you also have to put in the work.
00:29:34
Speaker
yeah So, um the you know, it's a slippery slope. um Nothing. it's if you're a parent, like you got to start, like, educate your kids. Like, this ain't the way.
00:29:50
Speaker
nothing nothing at all you do is going to beat hard work. So this is what should be we should be instilling. Like, I got a kid I'm teaching to play basketball right now. And every day I'm drilling. Like, it's it's... There's no quick way.
00:30:04
Speaker
There's no fast track to the NBA, kid. You have to be this this old and you have to have these qualifications. There's no no drug, no chemical, no drink, nothing I can give you that's going to put you in the NBA tomorrow.
00:30:17
Speaker
So you might as well put the work in while you're on the way there. you know then no i mean we we all agree on that we have to because as a child you're still developing um now we know kids in high school that take steroids when they play football so it's like you know i mean it's some kids are still going to do it to get an advantage is what i'm saying and it's not going matter for serena but down the line i could see this becoming an issue it may or may not you may be right you may be right because it's legal and prescribed maybe it never becomes a thing but
00:30:48
Speaker
I could definitely see this becoming a thing where it's like, wait a second. Okay, you've been on this and, you know you a you weren't you know, you weren't as fast as you were before you started taking this. You weren't as, you know, skinny as not skinny matters, but you weren't as quick, you weren't as agile, whatever else that comes along with it. You know what I mean? You know, weight loss, you yeah, you gain little speed.
00:31:13
Speaker
I mean, you ain't going to be Tariq Hill. Sure. mean You'll be a little bit quicker than you were when you were heavier. Yeah, let's give it. Because they have been on the World Anti-Doping an Agency's monitoring program since 2024.
00:31:26
Speaker
So again, if you take it without a prescription right now for WADA, they will suspend you. so yeah so And that's good. That's how i it should be. like if if they that be Something has to be wrong with them they wrong with you. but But it has to be for the betterment of your health. I'll put like that.
00:31:44
Speaker
Yeah, but the potential is there for abuse. Yes, absolutely. Anything can be abuse. Yeah, I agree. Sure. Facts. And a sports professor shout-out before we get out of here today, U.S. s teenager Cooper Luton-Haas.
00:32:00
Speaker
runs a world lead 800 meters to beat an Olympic champion, Emmanuel Wan Yanji, who I believe is, let me see if I can find...
00:32:15
Speaker
his ethnicity. They do not list it here. But anyways, 800 meters. Look, this is not usually something that's won by Americans at all. Long distance races, as we know, are mostly won by foreigners. um and And that's just not a thing we do. So for this teenager, who's only 17, to beat the Olympic world champion in his race is pretty crazy.
00:32:42
Speaker
a Good job, young man. Salute, sir. We appreciate you. We appreciate you bringing up the
MLB All-Star Ballots Discussion
00:32:50
Speaker
U.S. in long distance racing. ah Anyways, my brother, do you have any topics before you want to talk about before we get out of here?
00:32:59
Speaker
What's going on? with's Anything coming up? Anything exciting coming up? I mean, we can always touch on a little baseball if you want to chat your guardians. don't know, because I'm disappointed. We lost three guys. Hoseley got hurt. DeLauder got hurt. Angel Martinez got hurt. DeLauder got hurt, too? I didn't know that. That's shit. Yeah, further he chased down a fly ball, slammed into the wall.
00:33:18
Speaker
ah Oh, actually, look at this. We got first All-Star ballot. Let's talk that real quick and then we'll get out of All right, so first All-Star ballot is out. Obviously, you already know who's going to be in the lead and in the NL. I don't think we have to guess on that. Shohei Otani is your leader in the clubhouse. Surprisingly, in the AL, Jordan Alvarez. I know he's having a really good season, but his team is not.
00:33:41
Speaker
um is leading the way ah there. Braves catcher Drake Baldwin, a surprising number two in the NL. I know he's having a really good year, but obviously he's not even the star of that team. Aaron Judge was hurt, but he's still there in the running. Obviously, you know, he's still going to get votes even though he's hurt. So he's still there at number two um in the AL.
00:34:07
Speaker
ah Let's see. Any other ones here? See if I can see any Guardians in here or any Mets in here. Second base, you got Travis Banzana for the Guardians at number three in your second base American League voting. Let's see. We've got Guardians at third base.
00:34:25
Speaker
Jose the Great Ramirez is at number five in your voting, though, so he's not on top there. And then let's look. I guarantee you there are zero Mets in the NL.
00:34:38
Speaker
um And as I'm scrolling through, I was completely correct. All right. Damn it, AP, where you now to make fun of me? That would have been the perfect time for the comment because my Mets suck.
00:34:52
Speaker
Anyways, um but yeah, we got some good teams up there. that The White Sox have won 24 out of 26. Holy So yeah, what do you think on any baseball talk today?
00:35:06
Speaker
um it It was crazy for a while there. There were only three teams in the American League above 500. That's really wild. Yes. um How about the White Sox trying to go from from worst to first?
00:35:19
Speaker
That's crazy. very What they want. 40 games last season. Something like that. They're about to win. Right. They're about to win their 40th game like before the All-Star break. That's crazy.
00:35:31
Speaker
um Should be exciting. Should be an exciting finish this season. And ah hopefully ah we don't get to strike. How about that? How about we work things out and not strike after what could be an exciting season coming up?
00:35:47
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. We talked about that on the on the on the baseball show with Alan Perales and Amul last time. We talked about the strike and how they're probably going to use the the leverage strike as leverage and MLB, which we probably know they are at this point. But it's going to suck because you're right. This is a great season and it's going to do the same thing and have the same impact that the 94 strike had.
00:36:09
Speaker
strike had when they had to use the Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire steroid era, you know, Barry Bonds, a home run chase just to bring fans back in the building.
00:36:19
Speaker
So, but looking at the AL, you do have five teams now over 500. The Yankees and Rays in the East are tops there looking hold and serve. The White Sox and Guardians, your your Guardians, they're actually tied in terms of games behind. Right.
00:36:39
Speaker
But, like you mentioned, Chicago White Sox are on a roll. Again, I mentioned 24 of 26 of 36 at home that they've won. They've just they've been tremendous. You know, Clubber D was talking about them. That's his team the other day. So, shout out to them for being, you know, up there. And the Mariners, one game above.500, the AL West is pretty wide open still there with the Mariners. How about the Athletics, bro? No. Oh, that's what I wanted to talk to you about. I'm glad I mentioned the Athletics.
00:37:07
Speaker
So the Athletics have played a series or two in Vegas there. I don't know if you went to any of the games. Let me get that. Yeah, those times are difficult ticket to get to get. Okay, but the the story that came out of the athletics playing in Vegas was the fact of the desert heat and how many home runs were being hit because the ball was flying out of the ballpark.
00:37:32
Speaker
Now, I brought this up to an athletics fan. Shout out to D Cleasy. And um he was saying that he was, to I didn't know this, but he said that the ballpark was going to be indoors.
00:37:44
Speaker
Yeah, it's a dome. so But I'm hoping it's retractable. Yeah, you should have it domed on super hot days, but leverage that heat, leverage the desert air to your advantage when not it's not super hot on some days and you can open the roof. It better be retractable, is it not?
00:38:02
Speaker
i don't believe it is because the design is kind of similar to the uh to that theater in australia you know it's got the oh the little sailing like right yeah yeah so i don't believe it's going to be retractable uh i'm not wouldn't it certain why not leverage that desert ah air advantage because it's not just when it's hot it's at all times you got that advantage so far why not no because it would be closed most days are you kidding me It was literally only be open and the baseball season start April, march eight late March, they're April. Late March. It'll only be open then. So as June hits, that thing is going to be closed for the rest of the season.
00:38:40
Speaker
Like August is literally the hottest one of the years to be. That's what you said to me. Degrees every day. Wait, what how what is the group what is the degrees right now? Because this is when they would be playing. What is the degrees right now?
00:38:51
Speaker
Right now? Not even when they'd be playing. Yeah, they'd be playing like it'd be an hour. A couple hours from now. About hour from now. Seven o'clock is usually. Yeah, yeah. So what is the degrees right now? Like 100 degrees, like right now.
00:39:06
Speaker
It's 100 degrees in Vegas right now. Okay. right So let's say let's say it got down to 95 by 7. 95 degree heat, open that dome. Open that dome. 95 degrees, you can play. They play and they play in ah in in California open. They'll get that hot, but sometimes it does. And they end up playing it. There ain't no dome. It's 106 degrees right now.
00:39:27
Speaker
It's officially it's 106 degrees right now. Okay, so no games over 100, but anything under 100, you got to play. You got to maybe We want the fans to be comfortable.
00:39:38
Speaker
You know, we want them. And I think the way they're designing it, too, like the ah I think home plate is going to face. west so you're gonna have the sun like oh heck no oh beaming right okay yeah like the dallas cowboys getting blind with cd yeah that's probably that's probably the worst design flaw face that thing home home plate face it well now i guess it's better for the outfielders though Well, not not for T.D. Lamb. That's what i was talking about. um But yeah. All right. And then in NL, obviously the Braves are top of class here. 648 winning percentage, eight games above the Phillies. The Brewers, five games above the Cardinals there in the Central. And the Dodgers are pulling away in the West. San Diego was about a game or two behind them last week. And now there's seven games. behind So yeah, Dodgers pulling away there. it Looks like we might have our division winners going into the All-Star break set there with the Braves, Brewers, and Dodgers with the lead they have right now.
00:40:38
Speaker
Yeah, and i'm trying I try my best to pretend that the Dodgers don't exist ah until playoff time. Because, I mean, we all know it's the LA Dodgers invitation. ah Yeah.
00:40:51
Speaker
They're going to win the World Series. It's no surprise anybody. So I pretend that they don't exist so I can enjoy the rest of the teams playing. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if they won it again. i hope they don't. hope, you know, another team comes along. I picked Toronto to beat them at the beginning of the year. So I picked Toronto over LA in a rematch with Toronto winning. So hopefully that'll happen. But with the Braves playing as well as they are, um you know, I could see them knocking out the Dodgers in the, you know, the, the, the, help me out here.
00:41:22
Speaker
NLCS. NLCS. Thank you. NL Championship Series. Yes. That and the Blue Jays are severely letting you down right now.
00:41:32
Speaker
And so looking at some chat comments, and this is this is the thing I was trying to tell you about the other day, Bobby G. You remember when I said that you you weren't being able to read our our ah our comments on the on the mobile chat?
00:41:44
Speaker
i yeah They're not showing on here either. So I didn't see any chats on this and I didn't see the chats on the last one because I wasn't looking at the mobile version. So sorry to anybody that said anything there. But we got Yusef Haas says Knicks can definitely win it back to back. Hey, brother, if you think so, shout out to you. And and we appreciate you tuning in. i apologize. I didn't see your comment earlier. Shout out to Kaylee Siwu7463.
00:42:10
Speaker
Appreciate you as well. Yousef comes back, says, I'm from Algeria. Jalen Brunson won MVP. Victor Wemmyama was doing too much. It didn't do enough.
00:42:24
Speaker
And dude, do enough. Shout out to our brother Yousef out in Algeria. We appreciate you tuning in, brother. um Yeah, so I apologize to anybody I missed on the mobile side on and NBA. That sucks. Also, shout out to my brother Abay.
00:42:35
Speaker
Tuned in on Instagram. We appreciate you, my brother. um So yeah, so MLB talk there. Any NFL talk we ah we we missed? I know we talked to about Patrick Mahomes on your show last week, getting the richest contact ever.
00:42:50
Speaker
We talked about A-Rod. Going back to the Steelers, I believe we both we both had them not obviously winning a championship. I think he can get into the playoffs, though. I think he could. I think they miss out on the playoffs.
00:43:03
Speaker
Okay. All right. Shador Sanders, Deshaun Watson, what's happening in Cleveland camp? Just QB competition. It's fair competition. Munkin's taking a look at each dude. They both get first-team reps. Some days one gets more than the other, but Todd Munkin has been a man of his word. It it seems to be a...
00:43:23
Speaker
a straight competition. So so the contract of Deshaun Watson is not going to force a hand? No. Okay. The best whoever he feels he can win football games with will play.
00:43:36
Speaker
but Okay, well, there you go You have it straight from Cleveland. um ah Let's see what else we got. ah Let's see. WNBA Angel Reese has been really looking really good with Atlanta so far. um So let me see. Let me look at the WNBA standings quick.
00:43:57
Speaker
Bombers, Bombers, Bombers Championship. So we got we got the Liberty, 10-4, leading the Eastern Conference. We know how good they are. They got a super team there as the WNBA comes into their era. Isn't that funny? How funny is that, that the NBA had their super team era and now the WNBA, since they they don't have too high of salaries, are now having their you know super team era before those?
00:44:20
Speaker
Because they do have levels now that they're going start instituting, too, in the WNBA. Yeah. The Lynx and Aces are tied at 10-3. Your Aces there in Las Vegas, always looking to win a championship. Have you heard anything on them this season?
00:44:35
Speaker
No, look, Aces is the best in the game. Kennedy de Carter has been a welcome addition, even though she feels she's still being shackled. But, ah hey, we'll be tough to beat. i'm Going for another back-to-back.
00:44:50
Speaker
And finally, one last news and note, because don't want to forget about this, because you know what? The UFL has somehow stayed alive. They had their United Bowl, and the Louisville Kings, unfortunately, ah defeated...
00:45:06
Speaker
The DC Defenders, yes, my hometown DC Defenders, and to secure their first ever championship, by the way, in their expansion year.
UFL as NFL Feeder System
00:45:16
Speaker
They are an expansion team in the UFL.
00:45:19
Speaker
So another expansion team. I'd love to see expansion teams do well. Do you think the UFL can stick around? I mean, they came back rebranded as the XFL, Vince McMahon, then the Rock bought him out. He carried them on with his star power, and now they're kind of integrated into a new name, UFL rebranded, bringing back some of those teams. It's been pretty good so far. I mean, the ratings aren't that high, but, I mean, I think they can stick around.
00:45:43
Speaker
What do you think? Yeah, I mean, I think ah they should get more assistance from the NFL, man. Just kind of adopt a – a G League type of be the minor league feeder system. Right. Yeah. I mean, keep it in. You don't have to it have to be 32 team, you know, keep it in a manageable amount of teams and manageable amount of roster spots. Give people some good football to watch during the summer.
00:46:07
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I mean, exactly, right? why whoda Look, I love football, so you're not going to tell me that there's not football on at a time when there's not many other, you know, obviously we had the NHL and and NFL or NBA finals going, with the playoffs on, so you're going to watch that.
00:46:22
Speaker
But um if you're not a baseball fan, which I am, but if you're not and you and you want to watch football, you' you're happy that the UFL and and and me, even as a a complete sports fan, I have multiple TVs and computers on at the same time watching everything. So it doesn't matter. I will watch it all at the same time. And I love watching the UFL. I'm just glad to have football in the spring, as you mentioned.
00:46:45
Speaker
Yeah, let's put it in in these cities where, you know, away from your major sport, let's put it, you know, Memphis, you know, cities like that, that where, yeah you know, they have won a couple of professors for us, but, you know, where football and the NFL team is just looming over their freaking shoulders.
00:47:01
Speaker
So. yeah Yeah, facts, facts on that. And I want to, ah before we get out of here, I announced this for the first time.
New Football Show: 'Any Given Sacrifice'
00:47:11
Speaker
Bobby G was lucky enough to have my breaking news on his show about a future show coming to the Ball and Buds Network. And since we have a little...
00:47:21
Speaker
A couple, few minutes here. I want to be able to talk about any given sacrifice. Yes, this will be the new show that I am introducing in the fall. It took me a year to develop this. I'm still actually working some kinks out with the scoring and to make sure I can have a leaderboard and all that. It might not be live on StreamYard because I haven't figured all that out yet, but...
00:47:44
Speaker
It will be a weekly football show. I will have a bunch of college and NFL reps, streamers, experts on to talk. So Bobby G will definitely be there to represent the Cleveland Browns as well as his Miami Hurricanes. He will be there to talk them.
00:48:04
Speaker
And so basically what's going happen is is I'm assembling the Avengers, a group of of of ah you know streamers. Right now I have about 20 people on my list. If you are interested and want to represent your football team on this show, please give me a shout. I am taking a few more people. Obviously at some point I have to have a limit, but I think I can go about 25 people.
00:48:27
Speaker
And we're just going to rotate every week. Six people on the show every week. We'll talk three topics, NFL and college, and we'll score the topics. Everybody will be scored on their topics. We'll get points. Also, we'll do game picks and trivia questions for more points every week. And each person will be allowed to have at least five appearances on the show. So it's fair.
00:48:51
Speaker
And we will build up points over the over the year. And at the end of the year, the four or the, excuse me, the eight people that have the top scores will go into the wildcard playoff show. And then we will eliminate four in the divisional round two in the, one in the championship rounds. And those two people that come out with the most points will join me for the Superbowl preview. And the person that ends up with the most points at the end of the season will be asked to join me as a permanent host
00:49:22
Speaker
the following year. So it's a game show where you can earn a spot on the live show the next year. I'm super excited. I think this is really cool. How do you like this?
00:49:34
Speaker
Oh, I can't hear you. would say, yeah, so it's a great idea. Shout out to you and Devin, congratulations for all the work you put into it. Great concept. And, you know, I'm excited to see how it plays out.
00:49:46
Speaker
Yes, and I'm excited to have you and our other brothers on there. You can expect to see Wild Car Mar. You can expect to see Canteen. You can expect to see all the other brothers that you know from Ball and Buds that talk football.
00:49:58
