Mom Strengths, March Madness, and Chores We Avoid

That’s a Win
Avatar
51 Plays3 months ago

We’re leaning into the fact that not all moms are good at the same things—and why that actually works. From our family March Madness traditions (and yes, there are prizes involved) to navigating kids in sports and parent coaches, this episode is full of real-life moments. And of course, we couldn’t skip sharing how we rank certain chores based on how much we avoid them. Talk soon!

Speaker
Welcome back to another episode of That's A Win Podcast with your hosts Morgan and Rachel. oh my gosh, wasn't it just the cutest thing ever when our kids are in here playing in the studio just a couple days ago? oh my goodness. I got my phone out. I was recording them. It was the cutest thing ever. funny to see how they like what they think about a podcast. Like they talk about it, you know, they're like, oh, the podcast. Right when y'all got here, Eden was like, you want go see the podcast room? Literally, like, it's this special room. And even we were talking about something and Eden goes, yeah, like, your mom comes over, like, to do the podcast with my mom. Like, it's just such a thing they know. It's so cute. Well, I was cracking up because one of our, um, Rachel's mic is a little, you know, unreliable sometimes.
00:01:03
Speaker
We don't talk about it, okay? and And Jude was in that chair and it, like, kept flopping over. He's like, oh, heavens! Yeah. He goes, oh my heavens. We're like, yeah, but you feel our struggle now. Literally, you know the pain i i I endure every time we record. Yeah, this thing has a mind of its own. Yeah. Literally, you could not even be touching it and it will just flo her yes fall over. oh man. That was hilarious. It's so cute. Right.
00:01:30
Speaker
We'll have to do like have them on one time or something like a cute little. Totally. They would steal the show. That's for

March Madness Family Fun

00:01:36
Speaker
sure. I know. Well, um how's your week been?
00:01:40
Speaker
It's been good. It's been good. Wednesday. I'm like, what day is a Happy Wednesday. i know. Right. I always forget. um March Madness has officially started. oh woohoo Honestly, we have never. I know your family like it's a big ordeal with y'all. No surprise. I was about to take us back to the competitive episode if any of y'all listened. um But my family has never done it before. Not like legit. And this year, my mom was like, let's do it. There's me, you, dad, and Daniel. Just four of us. But it's like, I don't know what. you Y'all play for like money or something, right? Yeah, we And a plaque. You get your name engraved

Easter Traditions and Basket Creations

00:02:22
Speaker
on a plaque. Okay, let see, this is intense. Now my reward is just going to sound like the stupid. thing
00:02:29
Speaker
so whoever wins has to buy everybody ice cream wait if you win i mean that doesn't seem fair wait what no i think that's what she said
00:02:45
Speaker
mom i need to check this back it's something that has to go buy ice cream or something that sounds like a punishment everyone
00:02:54
Speaker
After I said it out loud, I don't think it makes sense. Oh my God. Okay, let me get back and ask my mom and then let's see. um That's amazing. But I think that's what she said.
00:03:06
Speaker
Terry just tried to make it to her. That's like crazy. Wait, pause. I really am mean to send her a message. Okay, you got to text her and then we'll have to we're get report back. what that is so What is it called? What's the prize for winning March Madness? The prize for winning the bracket.
00:03:26
Speaker
it That's incredible. Wait, guys. This needs to be... Okay. When she responds back, we'll just the whole circle That is funny. But we've never done it before. Clearly. You're still figuring out the rules.
00:03:39
Speaker
We don't really get it. But I'm excited. That's fun. It's fun to like... I feel like just today with the games today scene. But there's already

The Pressure of Perfect Motherhood

00:03:47
Speaker
a couple of mine that it's like...
00:03:50
Speaker
The way that she said, like you get points for each. Is that how you do it? and Like each round, you get a point if you get that team right or whatever. Yeah. I guess y'all do you'all do it in the app or did you know we wrote it on i wrote a piece of paper okay so you're like manually yeah yeah yeah we used to do that and my dad had this whole system of like points and laminated things and highlighters and all that stuff but now we use just the app which makes it easier it does it all for you for you but part of me has the nostalgia of like printing it doing the actual hard copy of it writing it yeah
00:04:25
Speaker
I know I felt like it was cool. It's not her by the way. Um, but yeah, I liked the whole writing and, um, we'll see, you know, maybe I'll be the winner and hopefully it's not, I have to take everyone to ice cream.
00:04:40
Speaker
It's amazing. i can't wait to hear back from her. Yes. Well, another thing, Easter's coming up so soon, we just realized. It literally out of nowhere, where I feel like. I know. Just a couple weeks or Yeah.
00:04:52
Speaker
Have you... I know that you are putting out your Easter baskets. You're working on that. Yes. Finally, all my um items came in. I tend to go over the top, as you know. um But it's one of my favorite things. I think...
00:05:09
Speaker
Now, how we do it, I don't give my kids their Easter basket on Sunday mornings. i We make that whole day about Jesus. But Saturday mornings is when I give them the Saturday before Easter is when they do their Easter basket. So I kind of like to separate those things. Mm-hmm.
00:05:25
Speaker
But I try to do like a swimsuit or like, you know, things that are coming up in the spring, summer and an activity to do outside. um And they always they always love it. I remember growing up, my mom did like amazing ones. So I'm just trying to like keep up with her, you know.
00:05:42
Speaker
You do really good about that, though. I feel like you're like that mom, like the the Pinterest-y, like you always have like the Valentine's baskets, Easter baskets, and all that fun stuff. So I love that. I do try. Make that magic for kids. Yes. And now I feel like it's like once you like set that bar, you like have to do

Family March Madness Update

00:06:00
Speaker
it. You can't like... See, i I feel like I go in and out of those things. Like yeah sometimes I'll do... i don't know. That's not my like strength or song strong suit is to do the...
00:06:11
Speaker
all that stuff. But I feel like I used to think that I had to be the mom to do all the things. Like I had to be the Pinterest mom, the crafty mom, like the homemade all of our snacks mom or the outdoorsy mom, the playful mom, you know, try to fit all those boxes. But I'm really like, okay, I can be strong in one or two of these things. And then hopefully you have like a community around you of moms that like are in your village and with you that can fill in the gaps in the other areas too. So it's not like All on you to do all that. Absolutely. I think there's a lot of like, um, people strive to all these things as a mom and you really can't do it all. So I think that's, I've never thought of it that way. I, um, and obviously like if you enjoy one of those, then hey, more power to you, but it is hard to
00:07:03
Speaker
I, some, like you said, like maybe dibble dabble in a few of it. Like I'll yeah i make, I may get on a A little, what did you say? like kick or something? Yeah, a kick. i was to say hunch. Hinch. Kick. That's what I needed. Thank you. um Of making some homemade things or like the protein balls are a must though. Like that's a weekly staple in our home.
00:07:24
Speaker
um Which weren't those? What are those called again? Cadbury eggs. Yes, the Cadbury egg. Wasn't that so good? Yeah, that delicious. Daniel's like, this isn't healthy. Are you sure? It's candy. Yeah. He's like, I don't know about that. Don't worry about it. Protein. There's protein powder in it. Like, come on. It's okay.
00:07:42
Speaker
But yeah, I feel like I try to do...
00:07:47
Speaker
Every so often. Yeah. Some parts of it. Yeah. But it's impossible to. To be all that at once. Yeah. Absolutely. Do what you enjoy and how

Potty Training Progress

00:07:54
Speaker
you were made and created to be. And, yeah you know, you have your strengths and then you got other people around you to fill in the gaps. That's right. I'll make your kids an Easter basket. Okay. Perfect.
00:08:03
Speaker
I feel like I usually do an Easter basket. Oh, man. But. Which ones do you maybe not do? Valentine's, i I sometimes will do little things. I remember one year, which I don't think I've told you this before, but you had sent me like a picture of like your Valentine's baskets and you're like, I can't wait to give these to the girls. And I didn't have anything planned. And then I like started crying that night. I was working i was like, I'm the worst mom ever. because But you know, I'm like, okay, they're not like, it's okay. And yeah I did like we did little like cinnamon rolls and maybe some little notes and whatnot. But I just remember like I had like a breakdown because I was like, why didn't you tell me? There were these beautiful Easter mouth or Valentine's baskets.
00:08:46
Speaker
Why am I laughing at your sadness? It's okay. That was a couple years ago. I am a new woman now. so You've forgiven me? That was not my intent. Oh, of course not. No, it was all me. But yeah, so funny.
00:08:59
Speaker
Anyways, all that to say, I feel like I'm just in my life. I don't feel like I consistently do something like all the time. Like I'm like, sometimes I'll do this or sometimes I'll do that or,

Gym Bonding and Basketball

00:09:08
Speaker
you know.
00:09:10
Speaker
One thing all the time is you're a good mom. Yeah. Okay. No matter what you do. Okay. I love that. Always forever. Good mom. Oh my gosh. That's funny. All right. Do we, should we see what Terry said?
00:09:26
Speaker
Oh, okay. She said, we don't have to do money. How about the winner gets an ice cream sundae? Ha ha. From each of the losers. three Three ice cream sundaes.
00:09:38
Speaker
How cute. I love my mom. she so I love that. She's so cute. Oh my goodness. Okay. Sorry. It's amazing. I was like, that can't be right. Thank you for saying that. When it came out of my mouth, I wasn't registering at all.
00:09:52
Speaker
You're the one who wins has to take everybody out. You got to pay money if you win for Oh, that's amazing. I'm cracking That is amazing. Sorry. it still okay Maybe we should join y'all's families and get a plaque instead.
00:10:07
Speaker
I mean, OBC On a Sick Bracket Challenge has been going on OBC!
00:10:14
Speaker
It's very serious. It's been going on since 2015. I mean, we've done it forever, but the plaque. Yeah. Probably 2015 because there's about 10 names on there, I would say. i do have to say shout out to Cole. His name is on there three times more than anybody else. I was going to say, yeah, how many times have you won? Um, I think twice. I think I'm on there two times. That's amazing. But yeah, Cole's on there at three. So I have to give him that shout out. So

Coaching Soccer Team

00:10:40
Speaker
way to go, babe. Go for number four. Literally. So how, so you have the plaque and your dad takes it to someone to have the name engraved for the year. And then you get to have the plaque with you for a year.
00:10:51
Speaker
So COVID when everything, cause March Madness got canceled, but that was when Jude and Reese were born. So their name is on there for 2020. it's cute. i know that yeah so the trash talk is high in the group chat already flowing how's yours looking uh you know too early to tell lot of game left yeah a lot of games left so we'll see but it's a fun fun time of year and now that like the kids are into it they made brackets and so they're like who's playing and especially obviously judy's all into basketball right now so he's all about it yeah it's really fun today when y'all were over he's like want to go watch basketball know it's just crazy that they're like that's so fun I know it's really fun so maybe they'll maybe he'll win this year I don't know but he'll have to pay up out of his savings drop that piggy bank out okay but yeah it's a fun thing for sure for sure yeah sorry I just had to segue back because of the message back oh please we need to find that resolution circle back real quick I can sleep better at night knowing that if you win, you're not going to have to take everybody out for ice cream. that's amazing. It's just you get to eat the ice cream. An ice cream sundae. I mean, that's fair. True. Two hundred something dollars ice cream sundae. But you know what?
00:12:10
Speaker
I love that. Maybe we should just do money. Who knows? All right. Well, let's let's get into our wins. Now it's time for us to share our wins of the week where we celebrate our victories.

Ranking Household Chores

00:12:24
Speaker
My win this week is I have conquered how many days of it? Four days of potty training. My youngest. um I will say, and for you and those listening,
00:12:41
Speaker
know how hard it is, like the first day and that second day even, um I wanted to literally give up. I was like, she's not ready. Like it was polar opposite from my first, who would just go to the bathroom every 30 minutes and, you know, And my youngest, she was not okay with that. You know, it wasn't on her terms and her control. um So I did not give up. So my win is I continued push through run day four, five. Well, we just finished four and going into day five. And she has done so well. No accidents the last two days. That's awesome.
00:13:22
Speaker
So I'm like, it's so wild how something just clicks. And i don't know. I'm just I'm glad I stuck with it. yeah She's done amazing. And so, yeah, no more diapers. It's just crazy. It always blows my mind. Like I remember before I started ever like with my oldest, never done it before. And I was like, how are they just going to learn to go to the bathroom? Like how it seemed so unattainable. Right. But then they just catch on and it clicks, like you said. and It's like, wow.
00:13:55
Speaker
It's just wild. It's so crazy. They're so resilient and they we need to give them way more credit than what we do, you know? They are so smart yeah they just, it's so bittersweet. It's fun to see them grow up and learn those things. in But then it's the reality of like, oh, that means they're getting older. I know. You know what I mean? I know. The other flip side of it.
00:14:19
Speaker
But This will be a good, a good one though. Like totally don't have to do diapers anymore. Totally. sure Absolutely. Which I'm very excited about. Um, yeah. That's awesome. Way to go. I'm proud of you. I know. i was texting you like, just hold it. Just hold the line. Just keep on going. I know. I'm like, I'm about to give up after her nap. We're just, we're, I'm just scrapping this day. We're just, we're not doing this anymore.
00:14:42
Speaker
and was like, you know what? We're pushing. Yeah. Because then if you appear wishy-washy, then they don't think it has to be it something they do. So it's like you have to have that yes firm like boundary like, this is what we're doing. That's how Eden was. And I feel like they just their personalities are similar to have that yes desire for control and independence. they want to slide They want to be the one deciding when to go to the bathroom. yeah But I'm like, girl, you ain't old enough to do that yet. That's what I'm trying to teach you to learn the feeling. yeah you don't know how to do that just yet. Yeah.
00:15:14
Speaker
But yeah, there's my win. That's awesome. I'm proud of her. Proud of you guys. Thank you. Thank you. My win this week, well, speaking of basketball, um like I said, she's very into basketball right now. So he's been asking to be able to go like shoot around at just a gym. And we were members at the Y and they had like an open gym time. so And it it worked out where Eden, like some of her friends were in the child watch. So I just dropped her off there. And then me and him went by ourselves to just shoot basketball in the gym. Yay! Nobody else was in there. It was like 30 minutes and it was just so much fun. it was so sweet.
00:15:50
Speaker
So he was all about it. And he actually like made some on the big goals. They had like one smaller goal, but he was like shot some and literally made them on the big goal. I was like, oh my gosh. sure that was something. i bet he was so excited. Oh yeah. you know That's so amazing. yeah Whenever he was talking to me today and he was like, you know, saying he played basketball at school and um he's like, yeah, i was playing. It was,
00:16:15
Speaker
these two these two people against me and was like okay two v one all right he's like but they really know how to dribble they kept walking the ball or they kept traveling and i was like you know that happens to the best oh my goodness he's like i'll take him don't worry i got it I love that. It's just so fun to see them finding things that they like already, you know, and different sports. And I just think it's a really fun season of life to be able to do that.
00:16:44
Speaker
Do you feel like just from what you've seen that he has more interest in basketball like than baseball? So far. Yeah. And I think it's the running back and forth. Yeah, it's fast-paced game. And he likes to be, like, he was always the first one sprinting down to the end of the court. And, like, you know, at that age, it's just, like, almost like tackle football. You know, you just, like, everyone goes to the ball, tries to grab it. And he'd just be in the pile trying to get the ball with, like, the biggest smile on his face. Like, just so happy. It was just really, really fun to watch him enjoy that. I think for sure,

Meal Planning Made Easy

00:17:16
Speaker
so far, that's the one that he's asked to, like, play again, you know.
00:17:20
Speaker
That's so cool. Yeah. and then grown up And then they're starting soccer. i know. Together but not together. But they'll be in the same season. I bet he'll like that too because that's a fast paced, more fast paced than baseball. Baseball is just like boring, honestly.
00:17:38
Speaker
Yeah. It's more sitting around and waiting. Like he liked hitting the ball. But other than that, i mean, you kind of got to wait. Yeah. Wait your turn. You got to wait on a base and. Yeah. bull i me I know it did. I feel like it taught him though, like how to be in a sport. It was almost like a good first starting one yeah because it was like, it does require more like focus and you know what i mean? i don't know. So it worked out being the first one, but guys, I forgot to tell you, I'm sitting in the presence of a soccer coach here. Yeah.
00:18:10
Speaker
Don't get me started, okay? I'm so nervous. This was not my intention. Yes, I am going to be a soccer coach for seven children. i love it.
00:18:23
Speaker
I'm excited to see you there on the sidelines. I mean, it's not... I joke about it, right? And I... say things like, oh my goodness, but like I do have a soccer background. Well, for sure. She's a soccer star in high school. It's fine. I'll state. Don't worry about it. Like nobody's taking notes, whatever. um But I've never taught it to like four or five year olds. So I don't know.
00:18:46
Speaker
We're just going to roll with it and have some fun. It'll be fun. Teach them about Jesus. And hopefully my oldest enjoys it and it's not

Lighthearted Goodbye and Celebrating Wins

00:18:57
Speaker
backfired because i don't want her to be like...
00:19:01
Speaker
Well, why are you telling them good job? And I can yeah very much her doing that. So we'll just have some talks beforehand. And a ah recruited Daniel to help me. Yeah. So he's going to help me at this first one. Yeah.
00:19:16
Speaker
And maybe honestly, like Daniel's like, you might love it. Yeah. Like you're talking about all this stuff. Like it's funny because it is funny. It's hilarious that I'm the coach. But he's like, you may love it and find like a little another little thing you yeah like to do.
00:19:32
Speaker
Totally. I can't wait to see you out there. Coach. You better leave after your practice. Don't you watch I'm going to be at everyone. Right there on the sidelines. so scared. It'll be awesome. I can't wait.
00:19:46
Speaker
Yeah. We'll see how that goes, ladies and gentlemen. We'll report back next week. Can't wait. All right, well, we're going to be keeping it a little bit lighthearted today and we are going to go through and rank household tasks by how much we avoid them.
00:20:01
Speaker
So we'll break it down into three categories. We'll do um avoid at all costs. Absolutely not. Definitely don't want to do this. um We'll do, I'll do it eventually.
00:20:13
Speaker
And then we'll do, we don't mind doing it. It's not that bad. So we've come up with a list and we'll go through and we'll see um where they rank and yeah, how much we want to avoid these certain tasks. I'm so excited to see yours and if some of them are similar. i know.
00:20:30
Speaker
Or like, cause I kind of have like a perceived like what maybe I would think, but we're just gonna find out. We'll find out. I guess, honestly, i don't really like doing any of them, but...
00:20:44
Speaker
I don't like doing any tasks, but no, I think, yeah, I think we'll be good. Okay. Let's start with laundry. What about you? Me first. Laundry, I put, I'll do this eventually.
00:20:57
Speaker
I know where yours is. Avoid at all costs. Yes, I know it Can I just ask how many times have you gotten a picture for me of a mountain of clothes on my bed that I'm like weekly getting ready to tackle this weekly. Why do I do this to myself?
00:21:12
Speaker
And it's huge. Like fills up her whole bed. Honestly, I know. I just I let it pile up and pile up. I tried to do the whole do one load of laundry a day type thing for like two days one time. And it worked out really good. But I just haven't been able to keep up with that. It it lasted for one day. I did it one time. Just one time. it was definitely more than one. Two or three. Okay.
00:21:33
Speaker
I know. um Honestly, laundry doesn't bother me that bad. I wouldn't say it's my favorite thing. um And I will say I'm better about my kids' laundry than myself. Like I will...
00:21:49
Speaker
wash theirs and keep up with it fold put away like I'm so much better about taking care of theirs than my own um now I will say as far as the washing part that's fine with me it does sometimes take me a little bit to put my clothes up yeah but like there's definitely times that it's never put up and I just wear what's in the pile I am better about it with my kids but I wouldn't avoid it at all costs does that make sense that's fair all right what about dishes You know what mine is?
00:22:20
Speaker
I don't know. It's avoid at all costs. cost okay Those who know me, I feel like, no, I cannot stand. I I don't know you. I guess because I didn't know where yours was going to land.
00:22:35
Speaker
What did I not know this about you or forget? But Daniel always says the dishes, right? Yeah, he does. So you do know. Maybe I've never like addressed it. I just thought like you read the context. No, I literally hate them more than anything in the world.
00:22:49
Speaker
i If I didn't have Daniel, they would overflow out of my sink onto the counters. He has always been amazing at that. i don't It's not even like... After dinner, like he sits there and he does all the dishes and I don't have to do it. So ph and he doesn't he doesn't complain. i feel like he likes it. Actually, he enjoys it.
00:23:10
Speaker
Mine is I'll do it eventually. I don't ok I really don't mind it. But I think that. There'll be nights where like, eh, this can wait till tomorrow, you know? But then I always regret it because it's one of those things that like, if you just set a timer for like 10 minutes and you're like, going to do the dishes in 10 minutes, it doesn't even take that long, you know? So it's like, if you tell yourself that's not long at all, just mentally getting over that hump. Yeah. So some days I do put it off, but I really We try to do it every night and it just depends on who's like yeah doing them, but I'll do it eventually.
00:23:44
Speaker
Yeah, you know, it'll get done. Yeah. Me? No, it would. It would pile up. So and honestly, it wouldn't really bother me either that they were in the sink, which is even worse. Like I'm fine with them just being in there. You know what I'm saying? Okay.
00:23:59
Speaker
Like he will do them every every night and every night at bed. Like there's yeah, there's nothing. in Yeah, there's nothing good for you. You're good team then. He's a good one. All right. Cleaning baseboards.
00:24:11
Speaker
I put avoid at all costs. Yeah, same. I don't do them. I don't do that. No. Who wants to do that? Nobody. Who literally wants to do that? And who does? I'm just curious. Because like I feel like I literally don't ever do Right. know.
00:24:26
Speaker
Unless there's like food splatters. I'm like, I guess I'll try to wipe it off. Then you will. Yeah. The only like remote thing I may do, because our house now has no carpet anywhere, not even in the bedrooms. So I do notice like um piles getting in like dust and stuff. Like I can see it better maybe like in the corner. And i don't even know that's really considered baseboards, but I'll get my vacuum that has like the brush and I will go along my baseboards and vacuum. Like if I, if I, Notice it, but like, am I doing it like weekly? Right. Monthly? No. No. Yeah.
00:25:00
Speaker
So no. Who wants to get down on their hands and knees and do that? We can all agree there. Yeah. All right. Organizing the fridge. I said, I'll do this eventually. I'll do it eventually. When it gets really bad. Yeah. You're like, okay, this needs to be done. I kind of like it.
00:25:15
Speaker
I like to see a fridge that's organized. But again, that goes along with, I do things for a little bit and then I don't. Like, I'm like, yeah. I like keeping this all organized and clean, but then like you could check my fridge three months later and it's a hot mess. Yeah. It's all about whatever mood I'm in. Yeah.
00:25:31
Speaker
But I don't hate that. Yeah. I agree. Or dislike it, I should say. Okay. Toy cleanup. I said I don't mind doing. I don't mind doing it either.
00:25:43
Speaker
Like the end of the day. Yeah, like I like it. Putting stuff away. it feels good to wake up to like. A clean. Yeah. Do I do it every night though? No. Set that 10 minute timer. Yeah, I know.
00:25:53
Speaker
Truly, you can get a lot done in 10 minutes when you realize that. Totally. Totally.
00:25:59
Speaker
Okay, deep clean bathrooms. I said avoid at all costs. Avoid at all costs. No, thank you. i think I don't think that requires much explanation. Okay, making beds.
00:26:11
Speaker
I don't mind doing it. Avoid at all costs. Morgan! don't make my bed. What? I mean, every once in a while. But I'm like, I'm about to come right back into it in a few hours. and Oh. Yeah.
00:26:24
Speaker
Oh. Oh. That's hilarious because I literally cannot leave my room in the morning without my met my bed being made. I cannot leave my room because...
00:26:35
Speaker
subconsciously maybe I have like OCD or something but I have this thought in my head that like if I leave my room and start my day without it made that my whole day is going thrown off I think there's not weird studies though that people say like if you start your day by making your bed like you're set up for like a more successful day I really think there's it's true stuff out there maybe i don't know studies might be like a loose term there's maybe there's research people on Instagram or something yeah But I really do feel like people say that recommend to like start your day with making your bed. So you're like already like, yeah, checking something off. It's kind of like one of those things to like, if you get ready in the morning, like get ready. Yeah. Brush your hair, you know, those kind of things. Yeah. A little bit of makeup if people do that. Yeah. It makes you feel ah put more together. Yeah.
00:27:16
Speaker
um Yeah, I cannot leave my room without my bed made. And same goes for my oldest. We make her bed before we leave her room after I get her in the morning. It has to all be done perfectly. And I'm sure once my youngest gets in a real bed, it'll be the same thing.
00:27:35
Speaker
I love that for you. I'm a bed maker. But also like that. I didn't have like chores growing up really. Like my parents that really make me have chores.
00:27:46
Speaker
We can talk about that another time. Because you were a student. Remember that? Saturdays. Yeah. Saturdays. But it. you know, they really turned me me into the woman I am who doesn't make her bed or doesn't clean out her fridge or doesn't do the laundry. Doesn't get down there and clean those baseboards.
00:28:03
Speaker
Um, but making my bed was one thing that my mom always made me do. So I think that's just yeah stuck with me. All right. Cleaning counters. I don't mind doing that either. i do it. like that I do it three times a day probably.
00:28:16
Speaker
Okay. Okay. I don't do that much, but I love it. I like that feeling and it's super easy and quick. It's fast. There really is something about some wipe down counters and it just makes the whole room when you walk in feel better.
00:28:30
Speaker
Okay, last one, car clean out. I said I'll do this eventually. Same. It's kind of like the fridge. Like I go through spurts where I love to have it. But then you could also look at my car at one point and it. Yeah.
00:28:43
Speaker
I think that's just part of having kids. you know You never know what you're going to get in your car and you're going to have to just do it. I feel like I'd let it get to a point where like, oh, this is really bad. I really need to clean it up. yeah like or like I know my kids at some point and be like, we really need to clean this car. Like I can't walk in it. Like I can't walk. I'm just stepping on stuff. i'm Like, yeah, I know we do.
00:29:02
Speaker
That's so funny. I just did it recently. And because we also had toys everywhere in the car. But I got a little bin that I don't know why i never had this before. But I got a little toy bin that all their stuff goes in there. So I just have been making them when we get home.
00:29:17
Speaker
All those that you played with. Yeah. Put it back in the bin. yeah so i feel like yeah it it feels really good though when you oh my god it's a mess and then you clean it i know that is like some type of high that i'll be chasing the rest of my life you know a clean car after that like good like deep clean too yeah i want a deep clean so bad like you should get like a detailing yeah that's what i want yeah like where they come to your house yeah I know you can probably go to places too, but I'm like, if someone could come to my house and detail my car. They came in, they were here for three or four hours and it was like incredible. You'll have to send me who you used. Yeah. I feel like you know every once in a while, like that would be a good gift to like give somebody like for Christmas or something, you know? Yeah. you can get like two of those a year. Like you can really maintain your car. yeah I need to do that. Do they like clean that? Like the stains out of the seats and stuff or what they can, what they can. Yeah.
00:30:09
Speaker
Yeah. Definitely worth it. You hear this? Oh, man. That's good stuff. Okay. Well, we weren't too far off. You know, we have our uniqueness about us. Basically, I'm a slob and you're pristine.
00:30:22
Speaker
Only in some aspects of my life. I love that. Don't go inside my brain. it won't be it won't be clean up there. It's a bit messy. That's fair. That's fair. All right. Well, now it's time for our bestie bite where we leave you with a little something to chew on for the week.
00:30:38
Speaker
And the bestie bite that I have right now is a hack that I feel like everybody needs to do. And talking about like the mental load and not wanting to make decisions. And it's having like a meal plan system for the week.
00:30:53
Speaker
And I don't mean like exactly you're going to make, but every day is assigned a certain type food. So we've gotten on a system where Mondays are sheet pan meals, Tuesdays are tacos, some variation. Wednesday is crock putt meals and Thursday is breakfast for dinner. And then Friday's usually pizza. Either we do homemade or order whatever for our family movie night. Yes. And And so it just makes, wow I will have to say Cole has been doing the meal planning.
00:31:21
Speaker
So maybe that's why it also feels easier to me, yeah but it it makes it easier. Like, and we've been keeping like a list of the recipes and whatnot and you know what you're doing. You don't have to think like you can just easily be like, Oh, easy sheet pan meal. And you know, it's Monday, you know, it's a sheet pan meal. Yeah. And there's so many variations you could do any type of sheet pan meal. And it makes it, it just makes it easier when you're planning out your meals for the week. So some kind of meal system, I would encourage you guys.
00:31:47
Speaker
That's smart because you always think about meal planning as in the specific meal for that day. So the fact that it's not specific, but it's a yeah a category. a category yeah It gives you guidance. like It gives you bumpers of like, okay, I don't have to just pull anything out of thin air. I just have to think of a sheep hand meal.
00:32:06
Speaker
Wow. So here's the real kicker because I don't necessarily meal plan like in that regard. I mean, I on Sundays I get the items. I guess that is meal planning. I get what I'm going to make the dinners for the week. Yeah. But what happens with that?
00:32:22
Speaker
Like what if like Thursday rolls around and you're like, I don't want breakfast. Yeah. Have you ever had a moment like that or do you just like. I feel like in a way it's helping reduce that it's like, you know, you know what you're making. I don't know. Cause we're also trying to like not eat out as much too. And that's helping to be like, okay, we're making this this night.
00:32:39
Speaker
And it kind of makes it where it's like, I have been like, oh, I just like that this is easy. So I'm like, I don't really care what we're eating yeah in a way. It's weird. I don't know if that makes any sense. No, it does. but It does.
00:32:51
Speaker
Yeah. That was just my burning question. I just had to know. I know. And it helps me not to be like, oh, let's just order, you know, food or whatever. Yeah. So it's helping. My family. I love to eat out. I know. Actually, Daniel is fine either way, but I do like to eat out. know. Something about it.
00:33:07
Speaker
it just It literally brings me joy. I know. I feel Or even just like that if the girls are napping or something and I'm just alone and I just want to door dash like something and just enjoy myself, watch a show, and eat my...
00:33:23
Speaker
That's a happy place. It really is. I think it doesn't help that have a husband that's like, sure, whatever. I know. Yes. You can order out. Yeah. But yes. So maybe I need to do it that way.
00:33:36
Speaker
That way it doesn't feel as specific, but it's, you know, a set category. Yeah. That's helpful. I like it. All right. Well, this was a fun one. It Enjoyed listening and we will talk to y'all next week.
00:33:50
Speaker
Bye. See ya.
