Introduction and Episode Preview

Halloween is over. It's almost the holidays. It's the Chick Foley show. We have a jam-packed episode here for you. I'm Phil Gentile here in beautiful, rainy Baltimore, Maryland. Sheena Phelps is somewhere a little more exotic. She's out in Hawaii. Chick Foley, how are you? I am good, I am good. A little bit tired, but overall, feeling good.
00:00:37
Speaker
We watched some wrestling this week. We're going to get into that. We have some news and notes from around the WWE and the main focus of our episode this week is going to be a figure collecting 101.

WWE Action Figure Collecting Guide

00:00:48
Speaker
We're both huge WWE action figure collectors and we're going to get into that and kind of give you
00:00:54
Speaker
If you're new to the scene, give you kind of an ins and outs in what we do and how you can get into it and all that kind of stuff.

Halloween Costumes and Challenges

00:01:00
Speaker
Who to follow, what shows to watch, and podcasts to listen to besides ours. If you're not listening to our show, you should listen to something else. But if you don't listen to our show, you're not going to know what else to listen to. You're not hearing this right now, so we don't care what you think.
00:01:15
Speaker
Sheena, your Halloween costumes were awesome. We have to go into that. You and the Babyface recreated the holster and Andre the Giant from WrestleMania. Yeah, from WrestleMania 3. I mean, the Babyface got so much love on Halloween night. It was fun to just see everybody come around. Like I said, we have tons of trick-or-treaters and tons of adults that come around our neighborhood, and everybody popped for him. It was just so cool.
00:01:40
Speaker
And I don't think people knew that I was Andre the Giant. It was like awkward. I was like, Oh yeah, here I am. I got a little Hulkster. And I was surprised. I guess I'm so used to being immersed, you know, in a world full of marks where everybody knows. Well, that's the thing. Everybody knows Hulk Hogan. Like my mom would know Hulk Hogan. Like, you know, anybody in the world would know Hulk Hogan. So he pulled it off good. I loved like the yellow, the yellow boots and you know, you did really well with that.
00:02:07
Speaker
Thank you. Those boots were, oh my God, like they were like almost costume fail. I bought the first pair of boots and spray painted them and the spray paint didn't dry because it was too humid here. And I was like crap. Well, finding toddler rain boots in Hawaii proves to be very difficult and getting anything shipped here is like ridiculous. Like it would take like two weeks. So we scoured the Island looking for another pair of boots to, um, to paint. So.
00:02:30
Speaker
Thankfully, we got it pulled off and everything went off as planned and it was excellent. Thank you guys all for the love on Instagram. It was just so much fun seeing everybody react to his costume.
00:02:39
Speaker
Yeah, I was, I'll be honest, I was wondering how you're going to pull off the one or shoulder singlet, but you pulled it off without, no wardrobe malfunction. So that's good. No wardrobe malfunction. Seth, uh, he'll has been said, he's like, well, maybe you should have worn like a full, like, you know, tan body suit. Maybe people would have known he's like, cause it looked like you had like a weird like two tone bathing suit on. So maybe that was what was throwing people off. And I was like, I don't think people don't know wrestling. They need to get with the program. I love the, like the Pat from Saturday Night Live week too. That was good.
00:03:07
Speaker
Oh yeah, I know. And you know what else proves to be really hard is finding a small fro. Every fro, I took a regular fro wig and put a little stocking on it so it would hold it down because Andre at that time didn't have the mega fro. It was like this tightly packed, compact fro. Oh my gosh. Yeah, so finding that was fun too.
00:03:29
Speaker
I talked about it on the last show, but I was Kevin Owens, and my son was John Cena, and my wife was Bailey. So we went trick-or-treating, and he made it to 10 houses this year instead of three. So that was good. That's improvement. That's stamina. He still hasn't asked for any candy. The last two years, he asked for candy when we go out trick-or-treating. When he wakes up the next day, he's completely forgotten about the candy. He has not asked for candy. It's November 8th already. He hasn't asked for any more candy.
00:03:59
Speaker
Well, that's awesome for you. You just need to scout the houses that give like the really good stuff. And then like, you know, that way the next morning you have like Reese's pumpkins for breakfast.

Social Media and WWE Figure Deals

00:04:08
Speaker
Exactly. Yeah. He is a huge fan of the Sour Patch Kids. Something I don't like, but you know, teach his own.
00:04:14
Speaker
Last show, if you didn't listen, we went deep into Halloween, Halloween Havoc, our favorite scary wrestler, so check that out. If you're listening to this, thank you for listening. We're on iTunes and Stitcher and SoundCloud and Podbean and TunedIn and a bunch of different apps, and you can check us out on Twitter at Chick Foley Show.
00:04:32
Speaker
follow Sheena on Twitter at Chick Foley and you can follow us on Facebook at Facebook.com forward slash Chick Foley show. So that's all the places you can find us. I've been trying to be more active on Twitter and posting whenever people send me stuff that's on sale, different places.
00:04:49
Speaker
A good buddy of mine on Instagram just let me know that the Shawn Michaels Retro Fest is 13 and change at GameStop. Yeah, that's rad. That's a pretty good deal after it was probably like, what, $26, $24, $25, $26 bucks or something? For sure. Yeah. Shout out to jrfigs21. So thank you there.

Crown Jewel Event Review

00:05:10
Speaker
So we are going to get into Crown Jewel a little bit. You liked a little bit more than most people did. I will say that. What were your overall thoughts on Crown Jewel before we get into some of the individual matches?
00:05:22
Speaker
So I mean, obviously like aside from the complete, you know, political shit show that was surrounding crown jewel and all of the things, you know, going on there, obviously we won't go too deep in there, but as far as just a strictly wrestling show, like I enjoyed it. Um, it's, I mean, it's not going to win pay-per-view of the year or anything like that, but, um, I mean the production value, like you had to appreciate the Saudi money that put on that production because it was insane. Like the, the arena was like.
00:05:52
Speaker
like obscene like it was crazy the ringside chairs like can you imagine like if they gave away like ringside chairs like that at our event they were like little recliners you know and I mean the pyro was insane and obviously like you know WWE has some cutbacks so we don't get as much pyro at our pay-per-views as we used to so getting to see all that and see the production like you know balls to the wall was pretty was pretty cool for me I thought
00:06:16
Speaker
Yeah, I thought the show overall was pretty good. I liked the tournament more than I thought I would, and I liked seeing Miz and Rollins going at it, and Miz and Mysterio was a good match. Yeah. I haven't heard since then. Is the injury to Miz legit, or was it just kind of put in to get Shane in there? Because that's the biggest problem people have with Crown Jewel.
00:06:41
Speaker
As far as I know, the injury was K-fabe only. I mean, because if you look at it, he jumps off the ring. I just can't imagine that being something that caused him to have that sort of injury. I don't know. I mean, I haven't heard anything about it. I can actually look it up real quick and see.
00:07:02
Speaker
I would hope so because that would be the only explanation I would accept as to why like they just on the fly like put Shane in the match like maybe Shane was just thinking on his feet and they were like just go in and wrestle damn it you know but um because if if that was written into the script like
00:07:20
Speaker
It was horrible. Like I don't understand it. It was awkward. I mean, other than just getting like a nostalgic pop, you know, I mean, the Saudis love their nostalgia as far as wrestlers are concerned. So just putting him in a match so that he could get a little rub. But other than that, I thought the turning was great. And then it just took a left turn.
00:07:38
Speaker
Yeah, you got to think if that was an event here in the States and that happened, they'd want to at least put somebody in like a Drew McIntyre or Baron Corbin or somebody that would get heat and also kind of elevate someone a little bit because the Shane thing doesn't do anything.
00:07:54
Speaker
Totally. And am I supposed to just think like, you know, that Shane can just put himself in the match and then they can throw Baron Corbin out. So, I mean, the Baron Corbin doesn't have any authority, but Shane has authority to put himself in the match, you know, and then there was that weird contingency. If somebody lost, if the SmackDown team lost in the finals, then they were fired. So I don't know where that's going. Um, you know, it was just, um, it was a mess.
00:08:18
Speaker
I find this is the time of year when they're just kind of treading water until they can start the WrestleMania storyline. I used to love Survivor Series. I thought it was a cool event and now it just seems kind of, they're already throwing together matches. We'll get to that in a little bit. Maybe we'll do more of a Survivor Series preview because the matches are still kind of confusing who's in.
00:08:39
Speaker
who's out and who's a captain and all that stuff. But a lot of people were pissed off about Shane O'Mac being best in the world. I do like some of the funny memes that have come out with him and basically on CM Punk's body. Those are funny. But people really don't like Brock Lesnar winning over Braun Strowman and basically going back to a part-time champion. I want to get your thoughts on that. It does seem like if you watch Raw, Strowman
00:09:05
Speaker
has some sort of knee entry because he was running around like a 90-year-old man. He was like running without even bending over. He did not look good. I mean, he took an F5 over the ropes onto the mat. You know what I'm saying? True. I mean, there's no way that that didn't do something to him because that was horrible.
00:09:26
Speaker
For sure. So Brock is champion again. We're kind of back where we started. I do like that they're elevating some guys like Elias on Raw and maybe he's the next contender. We're going to get a shot at some point. But I don't know where you go from here. I mean, who's going to be the next legit contender to Lesnar for that title with with Reigns out for an extended period of time?
00:09:47
Speaker
I mean, you do always have Braun and I don't know what they're doing with Corbin. I mean, Corbin's kind of hinted that he wants a shot at the title, which I, I mean, I don't have anything against Corbin. I don't think he's, I mean, I don't think he's bad. I just, that's not somebody that I want to see as, you know, my WWE champion.
00:10:03
Speaker
Um, I think the whole purpose with Brock, I mean, obviously like we know a little bit more now, like, you know, with his UFC fight pending, like I think Vince McMahon wants to see the WWE universal title on UFC, you know, and Daniel Cormier even even called him out and said, you know, bring your, bring your shiny new universal title when you, when you come fight. So.
00:10:26
Speaker
That would be cool. D-Gener X versus the Brothers of Destruction was a, the crowd was hot for it, and it was cool to see Shawn Michaels back, and he can't obviously go like he used to, but those guys put on the show, they tried their ass off, man, all four of those guys. It was pretty fun to get the nostalgic feel back in there from Attitude Era match for those four.
00:10:52
Speaker
Yeah, it was fun. And, you know, there was definite, I mean, you just kind of had to like understand like what the match was going to be with, with those guys in there. I mean, it wasn't going to be a fast paced high flying match, even though, um, you know, Sean Michaels did do that moonsault and almost kill himself, um, off the top rope. And I was like, Oh my gosh, that's when he busted his head open. But, um, you know, now we know that, um, triple H was wrestling with a torn pec muscle.
00:11:18
Speaker
which you can see now like watching it back how I mean when it happens and how he just favors it for the rest of the match and obviously like you know the guys he's letting the guys know like take it easy because you can tell they're they're being very careful with him yeah that the the photos that he I don't know if he posted or WWE posted afterwards just look like you know his entire chest and shoulder is like a giant purple bruise so best of luck to him and I don't know how long of a recovery that is but that's pretty painful
00:11:47
Speaker
Yeah, he's going to be out past WrestleMania, so that should be interesting to see who's going to fill the void of Triple H at WrestleMania this year. He's not going to be able to squash anybody at WrestleMania. Yeah, not that we're not all ready for him to fade into the background of our WrestleMania events.
00:12:05
Speaker
Yeah, he's not going to get to squash another one of our favorite superstars. I don't mind him on WrestleMania because the entrance is always cool and the match is always better than you think because that Rousey tag team match was actually pretty good last year. I don't know. I want to cherish these guys as long as I can because
00:12:23
Speaker
You know, the characters are so much cooler than, you know, I love today's wrestlers. I think the roster right now is super talented. But it's just a lot of guys that don't really have the, you know, crazy kooky characters like they're never going to see another Undertaker or Kane ever again. You know what I mean? So yeah, for sure. It's cool to see those guys back in the ring.
00:12:43
Speaker
Yeah, so Crown Jewel, I went back and watched Evolution. I really liked that. We talked last week about that. And this doesn't seem like a card I'm going to go back and watch. But in the moment, it was something fun. We talked about how these kind of are like glorified house shows. This one and the grand, I always forget the name of it, the Grand Down Under or whatever the hell it was called. The Super Showdown. That's right, yeah. Yeah. What did you think about Hogan coming back?
00:13:11
Speaker
I mean, if they're going to do it, it's probably the best place to do it and kind of ease people back into it. I didn't see a lot of backlash about it. So I mean, people love Hogan, man. How long are you going to stay mad at him? It was a messed up thing he did, obviously, and I don't want to get into all the politics of that. All the things that he did were disgusting and unacceptable in every form of the word. But he did his time, and I think everybody can agree that everybody deserves a second chance.
00:13:38
Speaker
You know what I'm saying? If we can forgive Mike Vick for the sins that he committed and let him have another chance, I feel like Hogan did his time. I think it was a right time to bring him back because it's just one of those things, like you said, it wasn't on
00:13:57
Speaker
like us television it was just kind of like okay we're gonna bring him back and then we're gonna ease you in and see what that what the backlash is and i heard on another podcast they were just trying to like get all their all their shit storms out in one in one fell swoop so um
00:14:12
Speaker
I got to think that they backstage kick themselves when guys like the Ultimate Warrior pass away and Macho Man pass away and Dusty Rose and Roddy Roddy Piper. These guys are limited shelf life. Not that I want to get the most out of them, but I want to see them
00:14:31
Speaker
on camera as much as I can. I mean, they still have a great character. People still know their names and they can still add a lot to the product on TV and getting the figures out and merchandise and stuff like that. Wrestling fans are notoriously nostalgic.
00:14:47
Speaker
you know i mean we love we love the nostalgia and i think you know there is a place for people like all the legends and stuff to come in and you know get that you know i don't wanna say cheap pop because it's a it's a deserved pop i mean these are legends and in the business but you know to just come in and get a little shine you know i mean they've dedicated their,
00:15:05
Speaker
their lives and their bodies and everything to the to the sport so i think you know yeah let him come back you know yeah even doing something like they did with becky lynch and uh edge where they you know he kind of flips her over and have them for autograph signings and different events yeah it's it's cool man it's especially with the video game and you want to have all those guys in there and
00:15:25
Speaker
Yeah, and I think it introduces like, you know, new wrestling fans to those characters, you know, and now that we have the network, they're able to like go back and search those people and find out more about them and watch those matches and things like that. And I think that's something there's some, you know, merit there as well. Exactly. Exactly. So, yeah, overall, overall,

WWE Storylines and Matches Discussion

00:15:41
Speaker
good event. I think it could have been better. But, you know, wrestling fans are going to always pick be a nitpicky on stuff like that. But
00:15:47
Speaker
Just some notes on Raw and SmackDown. We have new tag team champions on Raw. Sheena, authors of pain, win the title. And it's a pretty cool way to get it off of Rollins and still build that feud up. I would have liked to, I forget who said this, but it would have been cool to see Rollins and Ambrose be kind of forced to defend the titles and have to work together, but work against each other and accidentally win some matches against Raw.
00:16:13
Speaker
put them in therapy. You guys are going to get along whether you want to or not. Yeah, and just have them beat ascension to somebody else before they lose the belts and then have a bigger blow off. But authors of pain get the push here that they were off TV for a while after making their debut after WrestleMania. So it'll be cool to see what happens with them. Drake Maverick, the happy little chihuahua, following them around.
00:16:37
Speaker
Yeah, I like him with them, though. I think it's perfect. Yeah. He's like Leo. Oh, for sure. Yeah, it's definitely a good way to get those guys some TV time. A really good match between Ziggler and Elias, which was cool to see Elias go over big there. Clean win. So maybe there's bigger things on the horizon for him. A nice promo by Ronda Rousey against Becky Lynch. That's going to be a fun match at Survivor Series.
00:17:05
Speaker
Yeah, I'm really excited for Becky versus Rhonda. I don't know how I feel. I think it could be kind of a mistake putting Rhonda against Becky because Becky's so loved and they cheer her even though she's like a mega heel. And I think it could cause people to boo Rhonda, which is definitely not what the company wants. So I'm interested to see how that dynamic plays out.
00:17:28
Speaker
Yeah, that is interesting because obviously the fans are going to side with Becky because she's a quote unquote real wrestler or whatever. Yeah, for sure. It'll be a fun, interesting match. We saw Kurt Angle's first singles match on Raw in like over a decade, which was pretty interesting. And McIntyre gets the win over him and another guy who
00:17:46
Speaker
You know, with Roman out, guys like him and Elias and I guess Bobby Lashley are gonna be kind of pushed up to the more main event scene, which is, you know, it's always cool to see fresh faces up there. And I think McIntyre has the look, man. He just seems like a bigger, I mean, not even like, when he was in there before, I don't know, years ago, a three-man band or whatever, didn't seem like a very imposing guy, but he just seems like a towering dude now, man. I mean, he seems like, he looks like a champion, you know?
00:18:14
Speaker
he definitely has an it factor like he he's very like interesting to watch like when he's on screen like i i noticed myself watching him you know i mean he's just like a big i mean he's what you would want in like you know a champion like he looks like a champion he's kind of like you know roman a jace as far as like you know long black hair like you know go to the whole nine but yeah he does have he does have that it factor
00:18:36
Speaker
for sure over on SmackDown, we saw the debut of one of my favorite NXT wrestlers. Nikki Cross made her debut with Sanity and promptly lost via submission to Becky Lynch, which I didn't think was the right way to introduce her and automatically make her job out. But another face to that women's scene on SmackDown is good. Yeah, but I don't think there's anything
00:19:02
Speaker
to be lost losing to Becky right now. You know what I'm saying? It's not like they brought her on and like jobbed her out to like Tamina. And I think Nikki's character just has so much to offer other than just winning matches as crazy as that sounds. You know, like she has a lot to offer as far as like her promos and things like that. And I think she's gonna
00:19:21
Speaker
Do awesome. I don't know if we talked about this last week or not, but maybe we did. I'm so confused right now. It's late here on the East Coast. Did we talk about how you would reintroduce Bray Wyatt into the fold he's been out for so long? Maybe putting him with sanity would make some sense, because I don't know where else he fits in. Yeah. We had talked about it before, but it's still at this point. I don't have any better
00:19:50
Speaker
assumptions as to where he would come in and fit in. I mean, I want them to bring him back. I like Bray, you know, that's the thing. I like his character. I just feel like, you know, with his track record of losing all of his feuds and stuff, and then them giving him those long promos every single week. It's just, it's just too much. And
00:20:11
Speaker
without completely changing his character, I don't really know how you bring him back right now, you know? Yeah, I like to see him, how they did with Braun, just kind of squashing some local jobbers for like a month and make him like more of a imposing. Because I mean, yeah, you said it, you hit the nail right in the head here. He had long promos every single week and would just lose every other pay-per-view to somebody and just would never win. And it was just kind of like, okay, well, this guy's never gonna win. It's hard to take him seriously at that point. So yeah.
00:20:41
Speaker
repackaging a little bit would be good for sure. And like I said before on the podcast, like he's just not one of those guys that you, you need to see every week, you know, like when he comes on the screen, like you should pay attention to what he's saying, but it's hard to hang on to his every word when he's on there every week, cutting these, you know, three, four minute promos. And you're just like, come on, give me some wrestling. You know,
00:21:02
Speaker
For sure. Daniel Bryan and The Miz are in an interesting storyline where they're kind of, I think they're co-captains of the SmackDown team. Yeah. And they're going to be forced to kind of work together. It's a cool way. I mean, they've kind of already played this feud out. I was hoping it would make it to like a WrestleMania. I'm sure they'll still do something between the two of them at WrestleMania. But it's cool. Yeah, but how are we two weeks away from Survivor Series? And like, you know, we have the SmackDown. Two weeks away?
00:21:32
Speaker
Yeah, two weeks, yeah. Yeah, two weeks from Survivor Series. Yeah, that's exactly you hit the nail on the head because that's exactly how it feels because we don't feel like anything's come together.
00:21:44
Speaker
on SmackDown, SmackDown is a two-hour show, and I feel like we have all the teams pretty much lined up and all the people who are fighting for SmackDown, and then on Team Raw, it's all like, to be announced, to be announced, to be announced. How is a three-hour show? We don't know who the hell is fighting on Raw for Team Raw. We also felt like it went two or three months without a pay-per-view between, I forget what it was, in Crown Jewel, they had Evolution in there, and now it's back-to-back-to-back here.
00:22:12
Speaker
Yeah. We're back to how it felt like a couple of years ago. Mira was like the pay-per-view every, every month. They had the split brand pay-per-views and you know, I don't know. I had heard somewhere that their original plan wasn't to do the brand supremacy type concept again this year. It was going to be something different, but I guess with Roman being out, they just kind of like recalibrated everything and just were like, okay, we'll go, we'll go with like the champion versus champion, like brand supremacy concept again. So.
00:22:38
Speaker
I kind of like you. Yeah, which I'm excited about, because the titles aren't on the line. And I think, honestly, as far as Lesnar is concerned, obviously, he's not putting the universal title on the line. But I think this gives AJ a good shot to win the match, just because, again, one, the title's not on the line. And two, AJ lost last time. So this is kind of like his revenge. And I think it's a good way to make AJ look really strong.
00:23:06
Speaker
without having Brock lose the title, you know? Don't they have a pay-per-view called Clash of Champions that they could do this at, though? What's the point of that pay-per-view, just to have 40 title defenses? That's what they do on every pay-per-view. Yeah, but in Clash of Champions, the championships are on the line, yeah?
00:23:26
Speaker
Yeah, but they're always on the line at every pay-per-view. True, but not here. Yeah, but not at a Survivor Series. Because, I mean, this is just, like I said, just for bragging rights. Ronda versus Becky is just bragging rights. Seth versus Shinsuke is just bragging rights. Brock and AJ, same. True. I guess now that the pay-per-views are co-branded, Clash of Champions could be all the main titles instead of just Smackdown and Raw. So it does make sense.
00:23:51
Speaker
A really good match between Ray Mysterio and Sienna Almas was probably the best weekend, the best match of the two nights. And I really liked that. I think those two worked together well. And I always forget that Almas is such a really good high flyer just because he doesn't have just more of a bigger guy. But man, he can move, dude. He's a fun wrestler to watch. I really like him a lot. I think he's going to be in the next couple of years a guy that's going to be competing against the main event crowd on SmackDown. He's in a good place right now.
00:24:21
Speaker
Yeah, and we're definitely almost fans over here I mean he's he's another one that just has that has that championship look you know and I mean obviously he has that the You know moves to to back it up Who do you think ever ever beats AJ Styles? Oh, how do you get the title off of him because? He's you know beloved. He's in it. He's in a career run right now. I Just don't know what they what they do if it's kind of a screw finish And it's eventually like a guy like Samoa Joe and you know get a heel chain
00:24:51
Speaker
For sure. It's definitely going to be some sort of screwy finish. I don't see them taking it off of him clean. I definitely I feel like it's going to be. I could see it being Samoa Joe, unfortunately. But your boy. Yeah. Yeah. My my my least favorite person in the world, Samoa Joe.
00:25:09
Speaker
Um, that would be disgusting. I would probably throw away my world title. I feel like they, they want, they wanted it to be Nakamura for a while, but I just don't feel like people really felt those matches. Maybe because of the, all the dick punches in those, in those, in those, in those, in that storyline. Way too many dick punches. And actually now he's changed his, um, his dick punch to a head and head dick punch. You know, like he hit, he hit Rusev at the back of his head and, uh, in the man, in the man area. So, um, yeah.
00:25:40
Speaker
Nice. So yeah, we'll get more into Survivor Series next week and all of the matches and kind of give our predictions and stuff like that, because that is coming up soon. But we wanted to get into, well, first let's get into what we purchased this week, because I know you have a lot of new purchases.

Weekly Wrestling Figure Purchases

00:25:55
Speaker
I bought, I think, 20 new wrestlers this week. Oh my gosh. My wife is asleep, so don't tell her anything.
00:26:03
Speaker
Make sure you get her off the couch, baby. Maybe you want to go to sleep. I'm gonna do the podcast. Yeah. Oh man. Um, that's crazy. Yeah. So we had, we had quite a few stuff, uh, quite a bit of stuff come in. We got a battle pack series one Beth Phoenix off of eBay. Um, yeah. So anytime you can get those series ones, like it's, you know, you're just like, whoa, like, how did I find this?
00:26:26
Speaker
Um, we got a basic eight Maurice off of eBay. Um, the basic 90 Ronda Rousey from ringside. But like, I, I don't know if you've seen the basic 90 Ronda, um, but they, she has a shirt on, she's got her Ronda Rousey shirt on, but they still have the belly button impression. Like, so it's like her shirt is eating the belt. Like her belly button is like, she like wore a, or a t-shirt in the pool.
00:26:53
Speaker
Oh my, yes. And I, it bothers me so bad. I'm like, why couldn't, why can't they just have like, I know like most of the female figures, they have ring gear that shows their midsection. And so they have the belly button, which is cool, but they should also have a body sculpt for when you're wearing a shirt so they could sculpt a shirt on there because it looks ridiculous.
00:27:13
Speaker
Yeah, it's pretty bad. I've seen that too. I think the new elite coming out has the same problem. Yeah, it's horrible. I don't know. I mean, I don't know who listens to this podcast, but if you're out there and you're listening, get rid of the belly buttons on the shirts because it's horrible.
00:27:29
Speaker
We also got the top talent, Seth Rollins from the, you know, Monday Night Rollins era. And what's crazy about this figure is that it's pictured with a shirt on all the packaging. Like, there's like two different pictures on the box of him wearing the Monday Night Rollins shirt, but they did not package it with a Monday Night Rollins shirt. So thankfully, yeah, yeah, thankfully at Chick-Fully, we know a lot of, you know, custom big clothing designers. So we hit up at custom underscore figure underscore shirts.
00:27:58
Speaker
Um, and he hooked us up with a sick Monday night Rollins shirt to complete the fig and it looks so much better. And we got that from ringside. Can we talk about people that have underscores in their names? I hate it so much. Why do they do it? Because somebody's already taken custom figure shirts. So he had to figure out a way to make it work.
00:28:19
Speaker
There's too many Instagram and Twitter users out there now. Yeah, you would think Instagram wouldn't be as oversaturated with usernames, but I guess so. Oh, Instagram is insane. I think there's more users on Instagram than Twitter nowadays. Really? Oh. Yeah.
00:28:38
Speaker
But yeah, there needs to be a way to say the names without underscore. There should be some sort of internet abbreviation where it's not where you have to say custom underscore figure underscore shirt. It sounds like you're saying like a MS-DOS website or something. Yes, I know. I think I just need to say custom figure shirts and you can find him at custom underscore. So maybe I need to work on my presentation. Because that's probably his name on there. So if you search it, I don't know.
00:29:04
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. You did get that sick Hall of Champions Ultimate Warrior. That's probably the coolest looking Ultimate Warrior figure that I've seen in a long time. Oh, man. It is really freaking mage. It comes with the yellow winged eagle. It's got the blue knee pads with the warrior mask on them. I mean, it's awesome. I love the hair sculpt on that warrior. Yeah, it's awesome. We ended up having to get that one.
00:29:34
Speaker
We got it from, let me think, oh, Bret Hart Dungeon. Oh, and also he hooked us up, I don't know if you guys saw on Instagram, but they have these, he has these little Bret Hart glasses decals that are metallic that you can actually put on your figure so that it makes the Bret Hart glasses look like the legit Bret Hart glasses. So I'm super excited to put some of those on and show you guys.
00:29:55
Speaker
Wow, that's dedication. He makes those? I don't know if he makes them or not, but he definitely sent them in the package. I just dumped them out and I was like, oh my gosh, what are these? These little Bret Hart glasses. So we hit him up and he was like, yeah, you just put them on the actual fingers so that they're not that flat painted pink. Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, they look like them metallic.
00:30:20
Speaker
glasses. We also got Elite 62 Roman, which kind of looks a little bit bloated. I don't know. I don't really like the head sculpt on that figure, but we got Elite 62 Roman and Braun. We grabbed those off of Amazon. And another thing that we didn't pick it up, but we had an awesome
00:30:38
Speaker
a follower of Chick Foley, that guy with the gloves, you guys probably know him as, you know, at Burnout Inc. BPW. He made us an Instagram championship wrestling belt. It's the second Instagram championship wrestling belt that we've had, you know, made by one of our awesome followers. And he did a YouTube video of it and it is just so freaking awesome. You guys got to check it out. We'll post a link, but you'll be seeing it in the Instagram championship wrestling.
00:31:03
Speaker
Uh, pretty soon. Very nice. Yeah. And I saw you went to a, uh, Hawaii, the Hawaii toy and comic, but I'm always jealous. I don't feel like these things don't ever come near me for some reason. I gotta find a listing of when, when these happened because it looked like pretty, pretty cool event.
00:31:20
Speaker
Oh yeah. They, they usually bring out, there's lots of, um, there's lots of retailers and stuff. They're like resellers and, um, you know, we know a lot of them because, you know, it's always the same people. Like it's an Island, you know, people don't change. Um, so it's always the same people. So, um, we know who has wrestling figures and who's usually got new stuff and where to check for like the old stuff. So yeah, it was really, really cool to see some of this stuff. I mean, obviously some of it, like, you know, it's just like old vintage figures and they're like beating all to hell and play with, but it is still cool to like,
00:31:48
Speaker
see everything and get that nostalgia. Yeah, it looks like the New York Toy Fair is in February. I mean, I'll take the kid up there. I'll probably love that. Well, first I went to Five Below today and I really embarrassed myself because
00:32:06
Speaker
to the
00:32:26
Speaker
That's where all those went. Yeah, they're everywhere. No one is buying them at all. So I pulled the manager aside. I said, when are you getting more wrestling figures in? And she's like, I don't know. I don't know. So I was like, I sell wine. Do you drink wine or liquor or anything? Because here's my number. You get more elite wrestlers in. You're going to give me a call. I'm going to hook you up. She's like, oh, wow. OK.
00:32:48
Speaker
Probably around Black Friday, we'll have more. I was like, perfect. Use your powers. Use the powers. Right? Yes. I mean, I was getting like five bucks for like $20 elite figures, man. It was all day, every day, man. And we'll use those for giveaways and stuff. Yeah, for sure.
00:33:03
Speaker
And shout out to a buddy of mine, well now he's a buddy, Mike DeLaVella Jr., a guy I met on a Facebook wrestling figure group. I'm really going down the rabbit hole here. I bought several, about 20 used Hasbro figures. I got, here's the whole list, Skinner, Doink, Papashenko, the entire demolition.
00:33:26
Speaker
The Narcissist, Lex Luger, The Mountie, Repo Man, Rick Roode, Tatanka, Typhoon, Earthquake, Jim Nightheart, IRS, The Nasty Boys, Akeem, the American, Akeem, not the American Dream, Akeem, Hacksaw, The White Warrior and The Green Warrior, and Sid Justice. So I've basically doubled my Hasbro collection. I'm working toward getting the entire thing.
00:33:51
Speaker
Yeah, I didn't even know this dude. I just PayPal'd him like 180 bucks and he sent them to me. We became friends on Facebook. We talk about having kids and watching wrestling now, so pretty cool. We'll get into that as we talk about Fig Collecting 101. There's a bunch of cool Facebook groups that people post to and sell stuff on.
00:34:12
Speaker
He had a big collection, and they're all in really good condition, so I'm going to present those. Once I have the whole thing, I'm redoing the basement downstairs, so I'm going to put them up somewhere, and it'll be pretty cool. So are these loose, or are these on card? Oh, no. They're all loose. I'm not buying anything. Oh, yeah. No, I don't have that kind. I don't want to make that kind of money.
00:34:31
Speaker
Yeah, they're they're all loose. I had all the I mean I have your basic I have both the macho man's the undertaker You know my mom got me all the basic you know all your standard ones But yeah, and all the all the newer ones like the one two three kid and the smoking guns And those are all you know buku bucks on on eBay so those are gonna take a while to collect all those so
00:34:50
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. But yeah, it's pretty cool, man. I'm pretty excited. I didn't tell the wife, because I don't need to be spending a ton of money on wrestling figures right now. But hey, you just wrap them up and give them to the boy for Christmas. No, he doesn't get to touch these, because he smashes the hell out of them. He gets the Mattels. You just tell him that they're for it when he's older. But you know what? These don't come around all the time. So Daddy had to strike while the iron was hot, and these are for your future.
00:35:19
Speaker
he broke one of my million dollar man's the green the green suit million dollar man has bro because he knows like you know I let him okay you want to play with these but you don't smash them around you're gentle with them so I heard him like and he like ran over to wherever I was like daddy I think I made a mistake
00:35:35
Speaker
or something. I felt so bad. He was so sweet about it. It's okay, dude. I just glued it a little bit. I know. God, I know how that is. The kids I used to name, they would come over here and I told you they would go in the room and I'd have to tell them how many of the figures they could take off. And they would ask me, because some figures are more valuable than others, right? And they would be like, is this one delicate? They always said delicate. I don't know why they use that word, but yeah, some of me said we always joke now that we're like, is this one delicate? Is this one delicate?
00:36:03
Speaker
Cause you know, I didn't want him like smashing certain ones like into each other and you know, scuffing the paint and doing all of those things, but uh, yeah, I mean toys are made of toys. The Ryback one, you can, you can do whatever you want with the Ryback one. Yeah. Yeah. Adam Rose, go for it.

Action Figure Collecting Tips

00:36:18
Speaker
Nice. All right, so let's get into our figure collecting 101. So this is going to be an episode we're going to harken back to quite a bit, I think, because we're going to get into the nitty gritty here of where you can get wrestling figures, how to collect them, and all that kind of stuff. So let's start with the beginning. We talked about, I think, our first episode.
00:36:37
Speaker
how you got into collecting and you and what you got rid of, what you still have. So basically, let's do a little timeline. So they started back in the day. This is the Hogan Macho Man era. LJNs went from 1984 to 1989.
00:36:53
Speaker
They went into Hasbro is the ones I mentioned earlier that I'm collecting from 1990 to 1994. And you had Jack specific picking up the WWE license from 1996 to 2009. So there's crucial attitude error years. And you talked about how you had a ton of Jacks and basically sold off the whole lot, right?
00:37:14
Speaker
Yeah. So, you know, we, when we got back into wrestling, um, this is as we were adults, this wasn't even as kids. Like when we got back into wrestling, um, we started collecting the Jax classic superstars. Um, and we had a pretty good collection built up. And, you know, like I mentioned in the first episode, we did, um, we went to WrestleMania 31 and, you know,
00:37:32
Speaker
Seth was meeting Bray, so he grabbed the Elite 28 Bray. And after having the Mattel figure kind of in hand, we were like, oh, man, these are way nicer. I mean, just the scale is way nicer. The figures are way nicer. No offense to anyone who collects classic superstars because their classic superstars are awesome. But once we got our hands on Mattel, they were definitely our preferred figures. So we sold off the entire lot of Jack's classic superstars and really started to build our mark cave.
00:38:01
Speaker
Nice. And have you ever regretted? Is there any figures that you wish you still had from that? I mean, some of them are pretty awful, but I mean, the later year ones are pretty nice. They're pretty similar to the Mattel. Yeah, no. I mean, now that we have so many Mattel, it's hard for me to wish that we had anything else. I'm like, no, more lines. Only Mattel. If Mattel ever loses the WWE license, we're done. You can't start over. Yeah. Yeah.
00:38:29
Speaker
That's it. I think Mattel's a pretty big name. I don't know if it's going to happen. But yeah, Mattel switched over in 2010, and that's where we are now. You can find the LJNs, the Hasbros, the Jacks. You're going to have to find those on eBay. Obviously, everyone knows eBay. You can have auction sites. You can sell stuff on there, buy things on there.
00:38:48
Speaker
Very addictive website. You can save searches for certain figures you're looking for. You'll get a notification on your phone whenever they become available. You're going to pay a pretty penny for some of the more rare ones. Some of them are going to be beat to hell.
00:39:05
Speaker
A good place to find some of that stuff is on Facebook Market. I'm not a huge fan of Facebook, but I see people all the time doing flea markets and yard sales, and it's just parents whose kids have moved out and don't want them anymore. I've found a lot of Mattels on there, actually, and some Hasbros. That's a good place to look, and people sometimes don't know the value of them on there, and you can get stuff for pretty cheap.
00:39:28
Speaker
Yeah. And you can set up safe searches on Facebook marketplace too. So I mean on Facebook marketplace, I mean, yeah, you can set up your specific searches. Like if you want to be like, Oh, elite 28 Bray Wyatt or whatever, but you can pretty much just put in like wrestling figs or Bray Wyatt or, you know, use those broader search terms. Cause like, you know, like you said, like they, a lot of times people don't even know what they have. They'll just be like, Oh, it's a Bray figure. And you're like, Oh, but I need that. You know, so they, you know, they don't know.
00:39:52
Speaker
Yeah. I touched on it a little bit earlier. There's some cool Facebook groups as well. I mean, there's Facebook groups for everything. But if you type in, a lot of them have some really funky names, so it's going to be hard for me to read them over the air. Yeah. But if you type in rest of the thing. We'll just make a list. Yeah, we'll make a list, and we'll kind of post it onto the site or onto our social media avenues. There's a ton of them. I'm joined to like five or six of them.
00:40:16
Speaker
But if you type in wrestling figures or Hasbro or Mattel wrestling, they're going to come up and they're pretty good communities. There's several hundred people in there kind of sharing pictures and you'll get some people that just want to unload their entire collection. It's a good place to find stuff. Yeah, you get people going through like divorces and they need to unload or stuff like that. I need money fast. Yeah, for sure.
00:40:41
Speaker
the best place to find. So that's kind of the best. You also check, also check like the thrift stores. I know like, you know, hitting up the Goodwill and stuff is probably not on your, um, you know, first place to stop, but like Goodwill salvation armies. Um, my friend Audrey found the elite to Jeff Hardy.
00:40:57
Speaker
for me at and in a bag of toys like if you go to thrift stores they have like those pre pre-bagged like bunches of toys but look through those things like grab a few of them and like you know kind of search through them they put like all the like mcdonald's toys and stuff like all in these little bags and like just price them one price for the whole bag um and she was able to find me some wrestling figures at the thrift so like i said if you if you got the time and you stop at those places anyway they're definitely good places to at least check if you're looking for some older stuff
00:41:24
Speaker
or hard to find stuff. Good call. Yeah, the Jax ones, if you want to get into those, they aren't as expensive to rebuy as some of the Hasbros. They're kind of more rare, especially if you want to keep them mint on card, basically, in the package. So we can kind of talk about that. We're both, me, myself, and you are both loose collectors, so we don't keep things in the package. You get all the things you talk about in the show. As soon as you get them in the mail, you're immediately taking them out of the box, right?
00:41:52
Speaker
Yeah, and most of the time I'm looking for figures loose. You know what I'm saying? Because you're going to be able to find, you're going to get a better deal searching for it loose than you are searching for it in the package. So if you're just going to take it out of the package anyway, search loose. Because like I said, you're going to get a much better deal. And there's no sense in like, there's somebody out there that's looking for that in the package. So if you can save someone a mint in box or mint on card, then
00:42:19
Speaker
Show the love. Plus, the shipping's cheaper. That helps you out there. If someone's sending you something, they don't have to send a giant, especially the elites, the box is pretty big. Yeah, just put it in a bubble mailer and on your way. We'll get into some of the websites, but Ringside Collectibles, one of the bigger ones, they actually, when you go through some of the figures on there, they'll have some that say damage packaging. They'll be a little more discounted price. So like you said, if you're going to take it out of the box anyway, you don't really care what the box looks like. That's probably a good avenue to go down.
00:42:49
Speaker
The best place to find the Mattel, the current wrestling figures that come out, you know, that we talk about on this show, is going to be Walmart and Target. I mean, they're everywhere. Those are two of the biggest stores. Both of them have exclusive figures that are sold just at those stores, but they're your best bet. The website for both of them isn't the best as far as finding stuff, but in store, you're probably your best bet.
00:43:15
Speaker
Yeah, well, you can use BrickSeek. So with BrickSeek, that's the best tool you have. If you don't have time to stop at the store every day, you can check brickseek.com. And if you have the SKU or the item code or for Target, it's actually the DCPI number that you need. You can check and see when new figures come in. I didn't know anything about this.
00:43:38
Speaker
dude how have you how do you not know about brick seek oh my gosh yeah so you can check so um we've scored whole sets like that so you can check the number and it'll show you how many quantity that there are in and then you know each like each line will have its own dcpi so all of the hall of champions will have their own dcpi all of the regular elites will have their own dcpi so you don't know exactly which figure is there but you know like oh a new set of hall of champions
00:44:04
Speaker
came in, you know, um, whether it's hall of champions two or hall of champions three, like you don't know. Um, but yeah, brick seek.com. And like I said, it's a good time saver and it's a good way like to have peace of mind if you're not at the store, like, you know, well, they didn't get anything in any way, you know, and it's been pretty accurate as much as we've used it. It's been, it's been pretty accurate and don't, don't feel bad, like making a retail associate do their job. And I, I'm a former retail manager, so I can say this. I'm not being like, you know, addition on, uh, retail associates, like,
00:44:34
Speaker
have somebody go to the back. If you don't see it on the peg and you see it on brick seek and it's not on an end cap somewhere, have somebody go check the back for you. Because one, that's their job. And two, sometimes they just don't even know what's back there. Those back rooms are so big, especially at Target. They don't push anything out. Walmart's usually pretty good. Their toy section's always a hot mess. It looks like
00:44:59
Speaker
a dumpster fire most of the time like stuff just being strode everywhere but they're really awesome about like when they get a box in the back they're gonna push it out so even if they don't have room on the pegs they're gonna find somewhere to put those to put that stuff so that's one good thing about walmart versus target because target will just hold stock in the back like literally like we had teeto on the peg for four years and there was there were figures in the back that they wouldn't bring out because they said they could only they could only replace the merchandise that was on like when the pegs went empty so
00:45:29
Speaker
We've come up with some creative strategies on how to do that. I don't know, you know.
00:45:33
Speaker
I don't know if they're moral or not, but we will go take a whole thing of elites and hide them somewhere in the store so that when they go to check the toy, they'll go to the back and pull from the back stock. I've taken, there's these big boxes of balls at our target, and I'll take the balls out and put the elites under the ball. Oh, nice. And so that that way, when the Target Associate checks the toy section, they have to restock. And obviously, I'm not putting any good stuff in there. I'm putting Tito Santana's, Eddie Guerrero's Hall of Champions. Of course, of course.
00:46:02
Speaker
So what's your best bet to get them to just kill them with kindness? Or how do you get them to check the back? Especially if it's someone that doesn't know what they're looking for. They don't know resting figures from a hole in their head. Yeah, but they know the DCPI. And they know where to pull the box from. And they have back stock associates, especially this time of year. There's strictly people that only work in the back to do customer pools and stuff.
00:46:32
Speaker
Yeah it is hard you know like when you have somebody that doesn't know about toys but yeah be nice like don't be rude you know but just go up to him and just be really kind and ask him like hey you know I see that you have this in the back is there any way you could go check for me most of the time they they will you know if they don't like just be like was there somebody else I can talk to that will go back there and check you know.
00:46:54
Speaker
Very nice. Yeah, I just signed up for Bricsy, too. So that's what I'm going to be doing tonight. That's cool. Amazon is a great spot. They've recently been getting more into wrestling figures, and you can just type in WWE Elite, and it'll come up. For some reason, when I search certain things, I'll get a bar at the top of my Amazon app that I can click on, and it'll just basically break down wrestling figures between basics, elites, and retros. It doesn't happen every single time. I don't know how to get to that page.
00:47:24
Speaker
That's cool. Yeah, it's a cool and it has like, you know Belts and it has everything broken down into like, you know all the new and then when you click on that it'll have each each set, you know Elite 62 61 or whatever and I don't know how to get to it, you know, but it's it's pretty cool But Amazon will have some some good prices on stuff. There's there's some elites on there for around ten bucks, which is hard to find so Amazon's definitely and you you've been finding some newer stuff on there as well, right and
00:47:50
Speaker
Yeah, when you go to get the newer stuff, obviously, you need to check daily because they don't stay in stock for long. The new stuff goes pretty quickly. So just make sure you check at least once a day. But ever since Toys R Us went under, Amazon's been our primary source for getting figs, just because here in Hawaii, the Walmart and the Target, our Target sucks. It literally just doesn't get figures very often. I mean, when they do, they hold them in the back. So we check there occasionally.
00:48:18
Speaker
our Walmart's kind of like off the beaten path. So, you know, we don't, we don't go there as often as we should. So Amazon just makes it easier. Um, you know, and if you're a prime member, obviously you get free shipping. So if they'll just bring it to your door, like, and I don't have to get out of the house. I mean, it does take a little bit of the fun, like we talked about before out of like the actual hunt for figures. But if you, you know, if you're busy or you're too tired to go fricking hit the stores, especially this time of year when like stores are like
00:48:42
Speaker
crazy and you want to be anywhere else in the world like Amazon, but you just got to be diligent on there. Yeah. As opposed to other websites you get, you know, if you're a prime member, you get free shipping on most of that stuff too. So that's pretty helpful. And before I forget, I wanted to thank you for shipping me, the Ric Flair retro Mattel figure from series four. I love it. You sent it to me. I saw it on one of your Instagram stories and you were nice enough to put in a box and bubble wrap it up and send it over to me. So thank you so much for that.
00:49:11
Speaker
Yeah. That's my other tip, man, is like, you know, like, uh, the fully postable have created like a whole fig life community on Twitter and stuff. So make sure you get on there and, you know, hook up with some people. And if they're out and about, like you can put what you, what you're looking for. And if people see it, um, they'll grab it for you and ship it to you. You know, I mean, it's a, it's a pretty cool community, you know, and also just making friends with like your local collectors or people that, you know, in town and like, if they stop, you know, letting them know what you want. I have a friend who literally does not know anything hardly about wrestling and she lives in my hometown of Kentucky.
00:49:41
Speaker
And every time she goes to Walmart, she's like, what do you guys need? Like she loves to hunt for figures for us. And she has no idea what, you know, any figures or anything. And she always ships them to us. So yeah, just letting people know and like making it a group collaborative effort.
00:49:56
Speaker
Yeah, I try to put, if there's something I'm looking for, I'll post it on Facebook like, hey, just joking around, quote unquote, but I'm not really joking around. If you see this, let me know. I'm looking for these retro figures. But let's say it's for my son. That's what I always do. I feel like such a jerk. But I'm looking for these wrestling figures for my son. I should just own it. I've gotten over it over the years. I used to feel like that in the beginning. But now I'm just like, screw that. I'm like, I am who I am. I want them to know.
00:50:26
Speaker
Yeah. So we talked about Target, we talked about Walmart as far as brick and mortar stores, but there's some stores. Yeah, Walgreens is good too. It shouldn't be like your primary store, but we've made some serious scores at Walgreens. I think people forget that they have a toy section at Walgreens. So if you look for Funko Pops and Elites, they usually have a pretty good little selection there. Oh, nice. Cool. I didn't know that. Yeah, yeah.
00:50:51
Speaker
I've been shopping. There's a couple stores I want to touch on that I can find. Even better than finding figures at Walmart and Target is finding some elite figures at some of these other stores for a fraction of what they used to cost. So, five below, we talked about $5 elite figures all day every day. I'm going to buy them even if I don't need them.

Big Lots is a good store. It's just kind of a hodgepodge of random stuff. It's kind of a discounts type of store, but they have a pretty good toy selection and wrestling figures almost regularly. I go and check those out. They have the Basics for $10 for some reason and the Elite for $10, which doesn't make too much sense. It's really not much of a deal for the Basics, but I don't think they know the difference there. I don't know if they're really wrestling fans.
00:51:37
Speaker
Another one is Ollie's, which I don't even know if it's a national company. It's even below Big Lots. It's like the last stop before it goes to the dumpster. Yeah, exactly. That's exactly what it is. I messaged you the other day. I was finding $7.99 Elite figures. I grabbed a bunch for The Kid. I grabbed some for giveaways for people. They had the Rock and Stone Cold retros for like two or three bucks.
00:52:05
Speaker
Like, you know, come on, man. You know, I went to the other day and they had some basics for four or five dollars and I didn't pick any up. But, you know, it's definitely a good place to find some some cheap stuff. And, you know, it's cool. It's cool to find some stuff that you're looking for for even cheaper than you would normally find it somewhere else. So. Oh, yeah. And one place that we didn't realize that had action figures was T.J. Maxx and Marshall's like we just happened to come up. Yeah. After the babyface was born, we just happened to come across like an elite hanging in the toy section of
00:52:33
Speaker
of TJ Maxx and we were like, what the, like what? So we've been checking there. I haven't seen any recently, but it's definitely, if that's somewhere that you shop, I mean, I know I love me some TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I always swing through their toy section to see what they have.
00:52:49
Speaker
Yeah, their toy sections have been growing. I have one close by to me. I think it's a Marshall's. With Toys R Us closing, I'm sure all of these stores have been picking up on additional business because a lot of people, older people, want to physically go somewhere and see things that they want to get for nieces and nephews and grandkids and shit like that.
00:53:09
Speaker
you know, the toy sections in these places are growing. I've seen a lot, you know, they've had some of the NXT basics like Acreman Razar and all those guys, Bobby Roode, I saw for like five or six bucks. So yeah, that's a good place.
00:53:23
Speaker
with Toys R Us closing, like you said, it's just like, and with this time of year, it's also everybody's upping their stock, right? Like people, they're ordering more toys. So obviously they're going to get more wrestling figures and more wrestling, you know, memorabilia in the store. So definitely be checking, you know, between now and Christmas because it's probably your best time to get stuff because the stores are going to be ordering way more than they normally do.
00:53:48
Speaker
Yeah, that's true. This is kind of primetime. We're going to do another episode in maybe a couple weeks, maybe right around Thanksgiving. It's kind of a holiday buying guide is what's out there, where you can get it, and all that kind of stuff, the current stuff that's in the store. So stay tuned for that. Let's go to some other websites. Yeah. Well, what I want to touch on real quickly, lastly, is Ringside. I don't know if you talked about Ringside, but Ringside is one of those places.
00:54:13
Speaker
ringside collectibles you're gonna pay a premium but if you're wanting like the new figs you want to be the first person to have them like it's the it's the go-to place um the the thing about ringside that really blows is they're shipping like they have shit shipping um they basically charge you per item which i think is just like ridiculous so if you order like three elites they're gonna charge you shipping on every single elite instead of just being like a combined shipping um and they're already like charging a premium for the figures and then you know they're they're kind of
00:54:43
Speaker
Jack and you on the shipping too. So that's something to know. Like if you, like I said, if you're just looking for something for a Christmas gift and you know, you want this specific figure, um, you know, it's definitely going to be your easiest place because it's, you know, they usually have most things in stock, but you are going to pay for it. They ever have free shipping through that site. I don't think I've ever seen free shipping on ringside. I could be wrong. Um, but I would definitely like, uh, follow their Instagram, um, because they post all of their like promotional stuff on there.
00:55:10
Speaker
Oh, yeah. I just jumped on here right now. Free shipping, use code free ship for any orders over 50 bucks. Oh, word. Yeah. So you just got to order. Yeah. Just got to order Shiloh stuff. Yeah. It's easy this time of year. I mean, if you get three elite figures and, you know, just stock up at all at once, you know, I don't know. Worst things you can do in life.
00:55:32
Speaker
Another website that I found was Megalopolis. It's similar. It's not as big of a website, but I messaged them on Facebook about maybe becoming a sponsor of ours. They declined because they're kind of an upstart and don't have the funds for that, but they did give me a cool promo code. I'll see if I can share that with people.
00:55:56
Speaker
It's like 15% off, so they have some elites there. They have some of the retro figs, so another avenue there. I don't know if their shipping's any better, but worth checking out. Ringside does have... Is WrestlingFigs.com a part of Ringside? That's kind of a forum where people will post to stuff. Is that an associate or just have kind of the same theme as the website? I don't know. I never know. I don't think so. Oh, actually, yeah, it is. They have WrestlingFigs.com, yeah.
00:56:23
Speaker
Yeah, I think it's associated. It's definitely like the same format and all of that. Yeah, it's a good place to see just when things are coming out. There's a forum for people posting on different stuff. And you can see kind of the ringside collectibles, bestsellers, top 10 lists there. Pretty cool. Looks like our buddy Curt Hawkins is on the top 10, finally. So that's good on his new figure. Nice. Speaking of him, there's a couple other podcasts that I would recommend that I enjoy listening to.
00:56:51
Speaker
We talked about our buddies over at Fully Poseable. It's a great podcast. They've been doing it for, I would say, half a decade now. So they've been in it for a while. Super knowledgeable guys. They're brothers out in California, I think it is. They're always buying new stuff. So they're really cool. And they're good friends of yours, too.
00:57:08
Speaker
Yeah, I found their podcast a couple years ago and they were just getting started and they've just grown so much and they've just grown the fig life community so much and they are, if you love action figures, that is an amazing podcast to listen to and they're just like two normal guys and they're great.
00:57:28
Speaker
Kurt Hawkins and Zach Ryder, two current WWE wrestlers, also host one called the Major Wrestling Brothers Podcast. Yeah, Major Wrestling Figures Podcast. Which drops on Fridays. It's a good way to spend an hour of my commute every once in a while.
00:57:45
Speaker
Yeah, they're good. I was mad at them at first for, you know, I, I, you know, I, I healed off on them on cheek foley. Um, but they got their, they got their shit together and you know, kind of went their own way. And, um, you know, I appreciate their podcast. They do great things now. They do dwell on the stuff a little bit long. They've been talking about this dude love figure for like five episodes now. I'm kind of, uh, over them. Yeah. Did we done talking about it?
00:58:06
Speaker
But yeah, they're pretty entertaining. They tell some good stories, and they're kind of easing into some stories from the road, and some of the guys backstage that collect figures too. So you get a little bit more behind the curtain. Well, if they had been following Burnout, they could have got that custom Dude Love that is sitting in the Mark Cave right now, which is the definitive Dude Love figure, in my opinion. So if you haven't seen it, go to Burnout
00:58:34
Speaker
YouTube page and he does a Awesome video on it and we found it on eBay and that's how we got connected with with him He's the one who made our ICW championship belt. But yeah
00:58:45
Speaker
It's pretty mage. Very nice. There's some cool Instagram accounts you should follow, too. We listed them on one of our first couple episodes, but we can get that posted to social media, too. Really, the best part of collecting Sheena for me has been the people that I've met, not in real life, but over social media.
00:59:07
Speaker
geeking out with these people over the same stuff that we all collect. And it's cool now that we both have kids. Your son's a little bit younger than mine, but it is cool to see him play with them. He sets them all up, has a little fake Royal Rumble with them all. And then when I see him in the store, I'm like, man, I got it.
00:59:23
Speaker
I got to get this because number one, I want it. Number two, I think he's going to love it. So when I see stuff they have so much cool stuff like they, I mean, with the, you know, extreme sets, like if you're looking for an awesome backdrop, like extreme sets makes the best, you know, backdrops for all of your figure photography. And that's one thing I love about, you know, figure collectors is just like, you know, the photography people. And that's why that's another reason to be a loose collector versus to keep it in the box collector because you get to do cool stuff like that. And
00:59:51
Speaker
there's some amazing figure photography accounts out there i know we have um a friend of chick foley squared circle photography um does some just unbelievable work and then uh there's a guy sm battle stories and uh he does like like live action like stop motion stuff but it's not like it's not like your typical stop motion like he
01:00:12
Speaker
freaking kills it with his edits and everything. So figures are super fun, especially now with all the technology like what people do with them. And obviously we have our Instagram championship wrestling, so make sure you check that out.
01:00:25
Speaker
But yeah, it's just so cool nowadays and I'm excited to see how much more stuff comes out in the next several years, you know? Yeah, that's the one thing I wish that they would do more of is kind of more, my son loves the, um, I need little accessories like shirts and necklaces and some ojos towel and all that cool little stuff that you get with figures. And I feel like they don't do enough, like, you know, not, not play sets, but like, like I'm on this extreme sets.com right now. It's awesome. They have all these like kind of pop up diorama type things.
01:00:54
Speaker
I'm really surprised that Mattel doesn't get into doing something like that instead of just the rings, like having something to make the... Because my son just basically slams the wrestlers together. It'd be cool if he could have some sort of, you know, use his imagination a little bit and do a little bit more kind of role playing or playing with him and get a little more out of him, you know?
01:01:13
Speaker
Yeah. Heal has been disordered this thing a while back. It was actually really neat. Obviously it's choking hazard for the littles, but, um, for people, you know, when they get a little bit older and they start to play with figures, but it's like a, um, it's a scale set of like accessories. Like there's like a piece of pizza, a Coke can, like a book, you know, like all of these different accessories and things just like bring your figures to life and makes them like be, yeah, real people. I forget what the name of it is, but, um, Oh, here it is. Okay. It's a super action stuff.
01:01:38
Speaker
So we got it off of Amazon and it's got like a beer, it looks like a chicken leg, an ice cream cone, a box of pizza, a banana, a water bottle, a cell phone. So you can like pose your figures with these little in scale items that just kind of gives them a little bit more personality. So those things are super cool. Oh, that is awesome. Nice. I just pulled it up on Amazon. Yeah, not too expensive either. Cool.

Chick Foley Show Community Engagement

01:02:02
Speaker
No. And obviously follow us on Instagram and Twitter. We're going to try to.
01:02:08
Speaker
tweet stuff out and get stuff out as quick as we can. We're always going to be here to help. If you have any questions for us, I did want to start a little crew and I've talked to you about this called the Dime Squad. I want to get a text chain or a Twitter DM conversation started with maybe 10 or 20 of us. If you're interested, let us know. You can shoot us an email at askchickfoli at gmail.com.
01:02:31
Speaker
Basically, a group of people, we're all looking for the same thing. We shoot each other a message like, hey, do you got this one? I found it out somewhere. OK, cool. You need it. I'm going to ship it to you. And we'll just pop back and forth and help each other out. It'd be pretty cool. So if you're interested, we're in the very early stages of this. And I'm sure we'll get some graphics and stuff started on it. But I think it'd be pretty cool to build the community a little bit and help each other out, spend some money.
01:02:55
Speaker
Yeah. Sharing is caring. I like that. Do we have any, uh, do we have any, we have to give, do our giveaway and we also have to see if we have any, uh, any, uh, any mail in the old mailbox. Yeah.

Speculative Wrestling Discussions

01:03:05
Speaker
So we do have some listener mail. So this one comes into us from, uh, Martin Garcia. It says, if you had a time machine, what event in wrestling would you like to change storyline wise, not like deaths and stuff like that. Um, and I think I would like to change.
01:03:22
Speaker
I mean, obviously the screw job is the first thing that comes to mind for a few different reasons. But, you know, when you think about the screw job, like there's, it really had such a crazy impact on the landscape of wrestling. And, you know, one thing that I always think about if that had never happened is like,
01:03:40
Speaker
What would have come of like Owen and Bulldog, you know, like, I feel like would Owen still be alive, you know, because he would have never transitioned back to that blue blazer gimmick. Um, you know, but on the opposite end of the spectrum, if it hadn't happened, would there have been the Brett screwed Brett promo, the famous Brett screwed Brett promo. Um, and it, you know, with the trajectory of change.
01:04:02
Speaker
of the attitude era and would it, would it have been the same without, you know, heal McMahon at the helm? Yeah. Yeah. I was going to say we would never have Mr. McMahon. I think wrestling would be completely different. And I think, I just don't think Brett, I mean, Brett was one of my favorite, probably my favorite wrestler of all time.
01:04:18
Speaker
He just didn't fit what they were doing, where they were going. And I think he still could go. I think he was wasted in WCW. But I just don't think he would have worked. That heel gimmick was great for him. I just don't think, well, maybe he could have adapted. But I don't think they would have been able to usher in, OK, we need to reboot and elevate Triple H and Stone Cold and make some new stars like they were doing. Maybe they would. I don't know.
01:04:48
Speaker
There's arguments to be made on both sides obviously I'm partial to not screwing bread just because you know I'm wrestling with shadows like you just see how like you know screwed up the whole thing was and I just you know obviously I'm partial but I can definitely see the argument toward both I definitely think that there was.
01:05:10
Speaker
There was good that came out of it, and there was not good that come out of it. Obviously, Brett's career kind of tanking was the not good that came out of it. But the Attitude Era was pretty incredible. And I can't imagine my life without Attitude Era Wrestling. I probably wouldn't be here today. Yeah. I had a good one just now. And I completely forgot it because I was listening to you. Hold on. All right. I got a couple good ones. Late.
01:05:38
Speaker
It's Brock Lesnar beating Undertaker at WrestleMania. I feel like that really made really no sense besides just making Lesnar look like a beast, which isn't hard to do. And just kind of took the mystique out of that whole streak. And it could have been something that could really use every WrestleMania what's gonna happen. I guess now we kind of know that he is beatable at WrestleMania. So maybe we know that could happen again.
01:06:06
Speaker
I don't know. I just felt like it didn't, you know, it was a cool, shocking moment. You know, you see that guy in the front row with his mouth open. Yeah. But I mean, at what point were you going to like, you know, was he just going to retire undefeated? You know, at what point were you going to, you know, take it off of him? And I don't think there was anybody more realistic to take it off of him. They're like, you know, not take it off of him, but like in the streak other than Brock. You know what I'm saying? I mean, I think I think he was the perfect character. I think he was just kind of like the perfect
01:06:35
Speaker
Um, you know, he's a beast, right? Like he's a, he's a four. So I, I, um, I didn't hate that. I mean, obviously I hated it. I didn't want to undertake her to, you know, lose his streak, but at the same time, like, I don't think, uh, I don't think I would have rather seen anybody else do it.
01:06:51
Speaker
Another one I had was ECW or WCW folding, closing, and just having one. I've always been a WWE fan, but it would be nice to have an alternative of something to watch and just have a little competition. I know ROH and TNA are out there, but they just don't have the same effect. WCW had some prime years there in the mid-90s.
01:07:14
Speaker
And it just would be best for business to have some competition. And I don't think we'll ever see that again. The WWE has gotten so big. I mean, you know, the stock exchange and, you know, a billion dollar company going to Saudi Arabia and all this stuff. Yeah, true. But I mean, now with the power of the internet, you can watch whatever wrestling wherever. It's not like you have to be in a territory somewhere to like watch wrestling in a gym, you know, like you can the internet, you can watch whatever you want, like with all the, you know,
01:07:39
Speaker
independent promotions and things like that. I think there's definitely- Oh, that's true. I was just thinking more along the lines of guys that are never going to get a push in WWE just because there's- Oh, yeah. The roster is so packed. It'd be cool to see. I don't want to say Zack Ryder because he's not the guy.
01:07:56
Speaker
But somebody, Ginger Mahal, or somebody that could be the A player somewhere else, and they're losing on main event because there's 150 guys in the roster right now. It's cool to have all that talent, but there's only six hours, five hours of TV time they can get on. So it just makes it tough.
01:08:16
Speaker
Yeah, for sure.

Contests and Recommended Matches

01:08:18
Speaker
So let's go into our contest winner. So I was super excited to give away this Bobby Roo figure because it is freaking amazing. So thank you to everyone who entered the contest, who downloaded into the episode, shared the episode. We appreciate all your love, all your reviews and everything like that.
01:08:32
Speaker
But the winner of Bobby Rood's entrance grades figure is at hopeless so make sure you DM chick Foley with your Address details and we will get that figure sent out to you as soon as possible. So congrats again
01:08:47
Speaker
Very cool, very cool. We are going to do another contest for next week. I am giving away a Elite NXT Finn Balor. Here's what I want you to do. I want you to tweet. This is going to be all Twitter, no Instagram. We're trying to build up the Twitter following. So we want you to tweet us. Tweet us your favorite Survivor Series moment. It could be Karate Fighters, whatever you want it to be.
01:09:13
Speaker
but tweeted to us at Chick Foley Show. And we will pick a winner for that. We'll ship it out to you, and we'll announce the winner next week. Yay! Awesome.
01:09:24
Speaker
One last thing before we go, we wanted to start a weekly WWE Network match to watch. I let you know about it before the show. And I dug into the archive. There was a match from the new generation that I wanted to touch on, Sheena. It was Bret Hart as the champion on Raw against the 123 Kid. Just a very unbeknownst match. You would never think anything of it, but it was a great just pure wrestling match. Didn't have anything to do with the storyline and
01:09:53
Speaker
I feel like they just don't do that. Maybe with Brock as a champ, it's hard, but they don't ever have just, hey, there's this guy versus this guy. They're both good wrestlers. Let's watch them fight for a title on Raw and have some close falls and just have a cool, good match. Everything is kind of totally storyline built around. This was just kind of a one-off match between two faces, and it was a cool lot of close falls. So definitely check that out. I'm going to pull up the date on that so you can find it a little bit easier. But you can retype in Bret Hart, 123K. It's just going to come up. Awesome.
01:10:24
Speaker
I would suggest the 92 Royal Rumble. Yeah, for the vacant world title, Flair entered at three, won the whole thing. Oh, spoiler alert. So it was like 14 Hall of Famers out of 30 entrants in that match. So it's quite possibly the best Royal Rumble ever. Flair had his best promo afterwards ever. So if you go to like marquee matches on the network, you can definitely, definitely find it.
01:10:53
Speaker
Yeah, watch that one first, because that's one of my top five favorite matches. That's what really got me into wrestling right around that time period. That WrestleMania is when I really started becoming a fan.

Conclusion and Listener Engagement

01:11:05
Speaker
And that's an awesome Royal Rumble. I watch it probably two, three times a year. So great call there, Sheena.
01:11:10
Speaker
Awesome. Thanks. So we will be back next week. It'll be kind of a week before Thanksgiving. I guess we'll be ready to preview Survivor Series. We'll get into some more figures, and we'll talk about some more wrestling hijinks. So Sheena, thank you for joining me. It's been awesome as usual. Have a great week. Yeah.
01:11:29
Speaker
Awesome. Yeah. Make sure everyone please subscribe. Leave us some five star ski reviews. We always appreciate ratings and reviews. It helps the podcast out so, so much. So make sure you spread the word to any of your Mark friends and yeah, we'll talk to you next week. It does stay classy. Pecrads we'll talk to you soon.
01:12:19
Speaker
I don't like myself. I love myself.
