In more ways than one, it started off with ah a bit of a bad omen, with the team at B6 playing the wrong anthem for the players to walk out to, and I must admit, this didn't fill me with confidence, I'm afraid, but Didn't Villa Park look amazing?

um you know, Dalton is a tactical genius. um Now, the commentator's curse really did come to bite us. um One of the commentators on TV said, we couldn't win it in the first 10 minutes, but we could certainly lose it.

um But sadly, that was not the end of the bad news. 15 minutes later, PSG comes surging forward with tremendous pace.

Villa chasing the game, leaving gaps at the back. And at one point, this run was four on two for PSG. Villa really stretched and Mendes just checking his run slightly, um leaving him in space, fires it past the outstretched hand of Martinez into the bottom left-hand corner and great, great goal, great breakaway goal.

And I must admit, it started to feel like lights out, um for us then and you could see the team i remember looking at it seeing konza pow looking heartbroken totally heartbroken and i i haven't seen them look like that before not quite as bad but it really was a bit of a tagger through the hearts of um of the villa team and all villa fans i'm sure um

Well, the second half brought out a much more aggressive Aston Villa, and on the 55th minute, we got our answer. A surging run from McGinn and under a thunderous strike from just outside the box left Domaruma watching the ball nestle into the back of the net, and the comeback felt well and truly on then two minutes later villa were in dreamland with psg rocking some um neat play from rashford um allowing uh konza to strike the ball um

into the net and send Villa Park into absolute ah raptures. Now, we've been seeing bits of this from Rashford, this neat play on the right.

um It came from a corner that when of went astray and then Rashford taking on two PSG players like they almost weren't there.

And, I mean, what a transformation Rashford has had for Villa and a wonderful pass. And Konza keeping his head with a brilliantly placed shot into the bottom right-hand corner, ah sending Villa Park, apps as I say, into absolute raptures.

Ascensio one-on-one with the keeper. Konza missing a free header. it It really felt like we had enough chances to not just take the game into extra time, but to win the game um outright, to win the tie outright. It it really did.

And in the 90... Well, as I say, it wasn't happening for us, but in the 93rd minute, a tremendous volley from Mattson was blocked with Donnarumma just watching the block from... um Petcho, yeah, saved them from taking it, from going into extra time.

So that was how the game panned out with PSG going through fivef four on aggregate and Aston Villa heartbroken and knocked out of the Champions League.

Now, I must admit, it felt devastating at the time. But looking back over the games, um You know, PSG deserved it. They're one of the most um fancied teams to lift the Champions League trophy in the end and certainly one of the best teams at the moment in Europe.
