It's the latest from those silly American rugby dopes after a mega rugby weekend that would throw lots of folks for a loop. On this episode, we have real live proof that we in fact do not always agree on things. We then find a way to toss a couple insults at each other and then get on with the show. We chat about the happenings in the 6 Nations, including what went down at Murray Field, Twickenham and the unfortunate laws that came in to play in Dublin. Of course, we have a jaunt around the Prem and Super Rugby including some surprise performances in both hemispheres. Buckle up, this one is a doozy, have something good to drink and enjoy.

Podcast Introduction and Theme

00:00:08
Speaker
Hey everybody, welcome back. It is the fantasy rugby game. My name is Jared Dyke. I'm Ben Glauser. Let's check in because we get lots to go here. Crack beers first. Download rate review. Wherever you get your podcasts. And share.
00:00:28
Speaker
And let us know how you found us. And if you have any feedback, good or bad. Yep. We have thick skin, we can take it. If you've seen some of our discussions on the Twitters about our starts and since, we can take it. Don't mind being called out for something. We want to make sure that this is

Podcast's Conversational Style

00:00:45
Speaker
Yeah. Like even I tell Jared, like even while I'm recording this, I kind of feel like it's just us talking. But yeah, you have to remember that it's also a show and we're trying to make sure that like you guys get what you want out of it. So yeah. If you're not, let us know. Turned to be too silly about it. Exactly. By our friend, George, the fancy rugby geek of coffee, because he's busy as we've talked about. He's a very busy boy and he's, he's probably helping a lot to you out there. So buy him a coffee and give him a little bit of a help there.
00:01:15
Speaker
Grab your TRM upgrades. I know that there's no six stations this week, but it does help when it comes back.

Anti-Racism and Global Politics Discussion

00:01:21
Speaker
Plus, you never know who got released and all that good stuff from their squad. So that's always helpful. You know, even if you have your ear buried to the ground, sometimes you're still going to miss things. So helpful to know. For those of you out there with Will Goodrick Clark.
00:01:34
Speaker
And we've been writing him recently. Not this weekend, because he's with England. Probably not this weekend. Black Lives Matter as always. And there is no room for racism in sports or in life.
00:01:50
Speaker
We have interesting things going on in the universe always, but they've gone up a level in recent in recent days. Yeah, it's pretty fucking terrifying in some ways. And the reaction has been puzzling, although, you know, good. I it's like this. So obviously we're talking about Russia invading Ukraine. I'm enjoying the the world's reaction to what Putin is doing because he's a fucking mad man.
00:02:21
Speaker
But it's weird to see the disparity in reaction because of the people that he's attacking. We didn't see the same response when the US was all gung ho to invade Iraq for similar stupid reasons that are fully lies.
00:02:45
Speaker
Same thing goes for like the Israeli settlements and essentially civilian invasion of Palestinian territory. You know, we saw a lot of Ukrainian people in the news, you know, they're making Molotov cocktails and doing shit. And then fucking that's awesome. They're such bad asses. So a tick tock of a woman who's showing them how to start and drive the tanks that they're right. Right. Like all this stuff is really cool. But if it's brown people doing it, it's a problem.
00:03:14
Speaker
And that's like the coverage and the attitude, like this is a good attitude. Let's maintain it for all bad wars and for all, you know, just, you know, resistances and whatnot. Let's work towards, yeah, let's make the world better instead of, you know, like there's a CBS anchor who was like, oh, you know, we got to get these people, you know, get them refugee status because they, you know, they look just like us. It's like, oh, well, there you go.
00:03:46
Speaker
You said the quiet part out loud, but just FYI. Yeah. It's something that we need to see. You have to actually see it. You have to look for it. And then once you start to understand it, you just see it naturally and it's got to go.
00:04:02
Speaker
Yeah, agreed. One note on the Ukraine situation. For those of you that remember our good friend James, his his better half is Ukrainian and a lot of her family is back there. So just yeah, keep keep him in your thoughts and hope that her family is okay. Because yeah, I can only imagine what's going on with her. Horrible. Yeah, that's I feel so bad for because yeah, they're they're so fucked. The Ukrainians right now, because nobody can actively help right now. And
00:04:33
Speaker
Yeah, they're doing a fantastic job. So many badasses out there. And and Solensky is just look at his he's had some fucking life, hasn't he? Yes, yes. Like comedian, actor, like there's so many videos. He was he was the voice of Paddington. He did the voiceover for padding the Ukrainian version of Paddington. Yeah. And now he's fucking. Billy, literally, Billy Badass, and you can't take like fucking clangers, that guy.
00:05:02
Speaker
What an awesome dude. So wishing, loving the way he's leading this country and his people. Yeah, good leader. Hoping for the best for the Ukrainians. Because they'll win this. It's not going to work out for Vlad. So it's just a matter of time. And I just hope everyone can survive. Yes. I know it's not. That's an unrealistic expectation. But that's the hope, is as many people as possible can stay alive in the meantime. Absolutely.
00:05:31
Speaker
Agreed, agreed.

Managing Podcast Content and Listener Engagement

00:05:34
Speaker
All right. And then, of course, far less important, don't forget to grab your Patreon. We'll have SuperSheet this week. Sorry, Super Mega Ruby weekends are a bitch when it comes to getting this type of stuff done. Ben and I do all we can to make sure we get the current stuff in proper order, let alone something that we're trying to create. And we also have work to do. This is like,
00:05:59
Speaker
Nobody knows what that is. Hush. Hush. That's not a real thing. It's like, look, if we had like 300 patrons maybe I wouldn't have to work and I could just get it done. That's true. That's

Six Nations Rugby Matches Analysis

00:06:13
Speaker
true. That wouldn't be so bad. All right. Let's move on.
00:06:18
Speaker
So yeah, grab that. And if you want to know how good it is, ask our friends that have it right now. Six nations. Let's jump up to Murrayfield and Scotland and
00:06:31
Speaker
The French did not French it up. So that's good. There. I don't know. That was fun to watch. Yeah. Oh, that was fun to watch. Like one through 23 all new all know exactly what's going on when they step on the field. And that is a terrifying thing. Like there's a really terrifying thing when it comes to a team that's this talented, this, you know, physically gifted, and just like,
00:06:56
Speaker
Oh, and you have at the helm of it, you have the perfect pivot in Antoine DuPont. He was just like, it's not, you know, people talk about, you know, like if the there's a lot of if the attack is doing well, that means the defense is doing something wrong. The defense was doing fine for Scotland and DuPont was just like, I'm just going to run and find gaps. And yeah, fucking a. Yeah.
00:07:21
Speaker
Yeah, it's, you know, it's the score line might not have completely done Scotland justice here, but no, that was that. Well, you know, hockey dropped the gimme, so that didn't help. Right. Oh, that was. Harris laid it right out there for him. And Huggs had these problems lately. He's the drop season. He's had the drop season. Finn, I thought played a he like.
00:07:49
Speaker
He played such an underrated game. How many just absolute seeds did he throw? He was just checking, checking that around for fun. It's so it's not a notice quality enough is that people realize like the passes he throws are darts. They're on the money and they're not, you know, two people away. They're like three, four people away. Right. You put them right where they need to be. He's thrown 20 meter frozen ropes and that like, you know, Brett Favre style finger breakers and
00:08:19
Speaker
Except accurate, usually to his own team. Not so much far of accepting the speed of the delivery. But there actually kind of is a way too far of two. So they kind of have the same kind of thing going. But I thought he had a fantastic game and I think he's going to take a lot of unnecessary shit for this. So that's unfortunate.
00:08:43
Speaker
Agreed. Agreed. Agreed. You know who's not going to take any unnecessary shit for this match, though? Rory Darge. Yeah. Stepping in for a cult hero and playing out of his brain. He's the fucking real deal. I mean, there's there's like.
00:08:59
Speaker
There's not much more to say. Imagine him and Hamish out there. If you have them, he's your six and seven. I'm in. Jamie Richie's not in this team either, and he'd be honestly a part of this charm conversation as well. That's true. Maybe you throw Mish at eight or something like that and bring him on too. Or even put him at eight. Fuck, who cares? You have these fucking bulldogs, these two energizer bunnies that do everything.
00:09:27
Speaker
Yeah, they do. What do you need? They do, they do. Agreed. So, yeah, like we said, a little harsh on Scotland as far as the score line goes. They're playing so well. They're so good. They're a good team. I think people need to give them a break on that. Like, yeah, they have a little bit of depth issues. Their front row is not what it needs to be. Other than that,
00:09:49
Speaker
There's like, you know, there's maybe two guys on this team that I want to replace, but the replacements are on the team. They just weren't available. Right. And Andy Christie guys got his cap. Yay. So good for him. Um, that only makes me more happy. Yeah. Good for him. Uh, so yeah, this is, you know, this is the only, again, we have talked about teams that need to, you know, step up when it's time, when it's their time. And France are trying to do that to the best of their ability and.
00:10:17
Speaker
Well, I mean, it's not a solid, solid second tier team. And that's and I say that because the tier ones are like, you know, France and New Zealand. Yeah, not not not tier ones, as we think of a tradition. Right. I'm talking about like, you know, if you're talking about the right upper echelon. Right. So it's like the second that second tier, like they're not there's those teams, you know, that are fucking excellent teams that just won't compete for a World Cup because
00:10:46
Speaker
There's these other teams that are so much better. But if Scotland came away with even a bronze, I wouldn't.
00:10:58
Speaker
I wouldn't surprise me. Nope. They're that good. Um, they're really good. So nothing, nothing, you know, no reason to hang your head. Scotland. Not at all. That was a fucking brave effort. That's the, and that's unfortunately the end of their six nations campaign as far as their title hopes, but Hey, you don't want to, you certainly don't want to finish just above Italy. So you don't want to lose Italy, which I think they have next. So I don't think that should be, I honestly don't think that should be, no, I don't think she'll be there. They should mock them up. Well, they should be okay.
00:11:25
Speaker
Um, England and Wales over to Twickenham. You know, when it takes you 20 minutes to wake up against a good team, I don't care who it is. Nothing good happens. Nothing good happens.
00:11:40
Speaker
You know, so, and that was, and that was Wales's problem. Took him a good 20, 25 minutes to wake up. And that was the end. Took him basically to the yellow card, even then some. Yeah, that gave him a little bit of a, and I will, I will say there's two types of teams out there that when you get a card, you either go up or you go down.
00:12:00
Speaker
Right. And they went out. So a bunch to go fuck yourselves kind of attitude people, which, yeah, when you go home, when you go down a man, you're like, all right, no, fuck you. And you just you nut up and then, yeah, you can build on it.
00:12:16
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. Obviously, on the other side of the coin, England playing phenomenally, the usual suspects that you want to step up really did it. I don't care what anybody says. Harry and Randall at nine is...
00:12:32
Speaker
bloody awesome. And if they change it for any reason whatsoever, other than the fact that these hurt, they're morons. Right. Or they bring on like Alex Mitchell or something like that. That'd be nice. Right. But like, if these are your options and it's not Randall or Corki, you know, basically, if it's if it's young, what the fuck are you doing? There's no
00:12:51
Speaker
You know, there's no, he doesn't, he's a good, actually he's really good in this role that there's a mop up. I agree. I don't disagree. That's that's a good running mop up duty. Hell yeah. If there's, you know, the game is, is, uh, you know, you need to close out a game. He's your, he's your, he's your scrum half, but anything else, whether it's you still need to win the game or the game's in doubt. Yeah. It's got to be a guy like Harry Randall. Yeah. I don't disagree at all. Um,
00:13:21
Speaker
And, uh, you know, on the other side, it's a guy that I don't love in a whale shirt, but he actually played pretty well. And it was, it was very, it's been very noted all around Twitter. Alex Cuthbert played himself a pretty decent game. And that's not something I had on my bingo board by any means. No, he was, he was incredibly opportunistic. Anytime he got.
00:13:44
Speaker
He's like, there was an open, it was one of those like, Hey, you know, it'd be really cool if someone was right there right now and it's fucking Cuthbert right there. So yeah, good, good on him. It's it's not easy and he's not the most athletic and that's okay. If you just do, you know, you're where you need to be. That's you're doing all right. Do your damn job and you'll be okay. Yeah. The the one thing that was highlighted this week as well was.
00:14:14
Speaker
Thomas Francis should have not finished this game or at least been in for as long as he was because that's a huge mess. That's a huge mess on the on the independent doctors. Yeah. How do you pass an agent? There shouldn't even been an HIA. It should have been look at him. He's done punch drunk out there. 100% fucking get him off. That's that's horrible. I agree. You know, with the we just had moments a moment of silence for a player who died on the pitch and
00:14:42
Speaker
There's like around the fucking world for that. There's, you know, there are there are signs to constantly saying, when in doubt, sit him out. It's fuck it's the same. It's right fucking there. It's in the stadium. Right. Where is and nope, like.
00:15:00
Speaker
This is international rugby, especially. This is the highest level. You have a backup to that guy who can get that job done. There's no reason to risk a person's health or life for that. And that was just horrible all around. Not a good look.
00:15:18
Speaker
Um, one position battle that, uh, stood up to the billing was the eight, Don Brandt and Touloupe Faletal. And welcome back Touloupe and welcome Don Brandt, because I don't know how you take the shirt off his back right now. I don't think you can. Yeah. And I love Sam, and I love Sam Simmons. Don't get me wrong. I'm, I'm, I'm just as big as Sam Simmons fan. But when you have to pick, when you have to pick one or the other,
00:15:41
Speaker
You can't take the, you ride the hot hand and Don's the hot hand at the moment. Yeah. And I think at this level too, Sam's impact seems to drop and that's not a,
00:15:54
Speaker
You know, that's just, she stepped up a level and he has a good skill set, but is he as well rounded as someone like Don Brent? And the answer is no, he can, and he can do stuff. Don't get me wrong. Um, I, I want him on the pitch. I think he should start, but not at eight. That's that's Alex. That's Alex position. Yeah. He's got it. Yep. Yep. And then he was ridiculous. Yeah. It wasn't. Um, but yeah, foul towel played his brains out for the first time back since the line store, basically, as far as this level goes, um, it was playing very well for bath in the.
00:16:24
Speaker
Couple matches he got. On the other side, for England. Okay, go ahead. Go ahead. I wanted to mention that how many times have we seen England play pretty well with George Ford playing 90% of the match like shit, but nailing a bunch of penalty kicks and then getting man of the match? Time or two? Yeah, too many times to count.
00:16:52
Speaker
the bitching about Marcus Smith, not even doing the same. He played extremely well outside of making the kicks, but then he also made the kicks. Yeah, he missed two.
00:17:05
Speaker
OK, and I don't think they should have kicked as much, but he also wasn't calling his own number. No, he's not calling that. He was there was ice. There was literally one I think sometime towards the middle of the match. I can't recall when exactly where Marcus walked away from the tee, like I remember that decision to where he would be for like a line out. And they called him back over like, no, we're we're kicking for points. It's like so he he wanted to play a different game.
00:17:32
Speaker
And laws kind of roped him into some that he didn't want to take. He wanted to attack. So it's not like it was Marcus Smith saying, yeah, I want all the points like fucking George Ford does. So I think the fact that people were bitching about it at all, it's like, because it's Marcus, they're like, oh, just because it's Marcus Smith. And it's like, oh, well, so when it's just when it's George, because it's George Ford, that's OK. But you have you object to because it's Marcus Smith. Just fucking get over it. Yeah, get off it.
00:18:00
Speaker
Right. And I'm sick of the the the bitchin about how good he is. He's good. Just fucking deal with it. It's not like it's not like it's magic. It's not like he's some, you know, who he he just does things that make successful rugby. He does them well. And
00:18:19
Speaker
more because you want. So just enjoy it. Just appreciate it instead of whining about it. He's like, you get to see fucking Michael Jordan. Get the fuck over it. Yeah. He's got that ability for sure. And he's not alone. Like, you know, all these guys are so fucking talented, but he wears the jersey that he wears the tennis. Yeah. He wears the tennis. It matters more.
00:18:42
Speaker
Yeah, that's the way it is. And it's never dismissing anyone else's performance. I think that's something that people get a little too caught up with. Yeah. Player of the matches, selection sometimes, and you know, I've done it myself.
00:18:53
Speaker
It's not to dismiss the performances that were out there. You can give high praise to the likes of Gens, the likes of Maro. And they don't need to get the player of the match. Is it nice? Of course it is. I can tell you firsthand, none of those players give a shit about who gets it.
00:19:14
Speaker
just, that's the, that's the thing for us. Unless it's them and then they're like, Hey, cool. I got like, that's a story for later in life. That's all that. Yeah. If it's your first match ever and you get it, then it's like, it's one thing, but you know, I think then one of the monster guys that started for their first time ever get one in the champions cup. Uh, if I'm not mistaken.
00:19:32
Speaker
The point being, they don't really care that much about it, honestly. Right. Nobody, like, you know, Dom Brant isn't looking over at Marcus with his medal and being all like, should have been me. It's like, no. If you do that, you don't belong on a fucking rugby team. Right. It means, OK, I'll have my game next time. Yeah, it's basically what it comes down to.

Rugby Rules and Game Impact

00:19:51
Speaker
All right. So that that one, that that that drums covers that. We'll cover this briefly because there's only one real thing to talk about, Ireland and Italy.
00:20:02
Speaker
just really, you know, referee, you know, no, I'm okay with the rule. Cause it, cause listen, you and I both know there are shithouse teams that will fucking do this to do things, to take advantage of that. You know, do you really like, if you're getting asshole in the scrum and you get to,
00:20:20
Speaker
One, win all your own scrums at least, and you get to throw an extra back rower on. Nah, I'm not into that pass, hard pass for me. So it's a really unfortunate incident. It never ever happens except for this once right here. This is the one time something like this happened. So I'm okay with the rule by all means.
00:20:38
Speaker
Well, OK, except like I would say in case of except in this kind of situation where there's an injury and you need to bring on like, yeah, but with that, you still lose a prop, whatever. But like going down an extra person, that's usually the only reason it happens is you have you have cards and you have injuries. Right. Or you have two guys card or something. Yeah, it's rare you're going to have this happen.
00:21:03
Speaker
there's no actual reason that it's gonna, he ruled it like he's supposed to and that's how it is. Well, no, I understand. I just don't like, it's not, it's.
00:21:14
Speaker
Yeah, that's harsh. Listen, you can't sit there and have a situation that you pick and choose from. You have to have a law that stays consistent. That's the shitty part of it, but that's the fact. You can't say, oh, it's this situation or this situation. That's not what we get to do. No, but I don't agree with losing an extra man. You've already lost a guy. It's like you just get to choose where you lost it and move on. No, but that's the point. You don't want somebody just to lose an extra man and throw on another back rower.
00:21:42
Speaker
That's the point. No, it would have to be a front row. It would have to be a front row sub. So you'd have to take a prop. It wouldn't be an extra back row or you'd get three props out there. And you go to on a post. But then there, boom, done. You got a bunch of fatties running around. They're not going to get that done, buddy. Sorry. Well, no, not, but that's what it should be.
00:22:06
Speaker
No, it's a lot. Listen, this is this is this is a law that we don't need to get get into because it never fucking happens. So of all the things that we need to fix, this is not one that we need to put attention to. Yeah, I think you just you don't want you want to avoid stuff like this in the future. It's so for the for the way that if if this happens in the next two years, you can call me on it. Until then, leave it the fuck alone. We got other laws we need to fix.
00:22:33
Speaker
Okay, I don't see what the benefit of this was, is all. I hear your point. What good did it do? It made for an unwatchable match.
00:22:43
Speaker
But you're missing the point of it though. This is to prevent cheating. Simple as that. Okay. I don't see that as a, I don't think that's a real thing though. I don't buy it. They did it for, listen, this was put in place a long time ago and it had to be done before a reason. There's no doubt about that. Oh, right. But we have to go back and make sure that that, you know, if it's still,
00:23:10
Speaker
reasonable. I would not put it past anybody, or at least a good number of people that I can think of off top my head. So I don't know, leave it as people would get a card on purpose, but okay. But you don't need to frickin go finding reasons to frickin pull. So you have so here's the thing you haven't you have an injured hooker, and you have another injured hooker. How what you can you replace them with a front rower?
00:23:40
Speaker
and you go to uncontested scrums. You're down, you're, well, you're not down to that, but- Because you've been getting shit housed in a fricking scrum. That's the reason you would do it. You've been getting your ass handed to you in a scrum, no matter whose ball it is. Now you at least get your ball back. And that is why you would do it.
00:24:02
Speaker
Yeah, I still don't think that's enough of a reason. There's not many teams that get that shit housed in the scrum anymore. It's not that big a deal at this level. But you're talking about... Let's move on. Let's move on. It's stupid. Listen, I wanted to say it's stupid and let's move on, but then you kept going.
00:24:24
Speaker
We don't have time for this. We got too much to cover. Well, I was trying to do that, but you wanted to, you wanted to freaking say no. I'm just saying that there's no reason to keep it. It's not, it's not necessary. It's I hear it that it was a thing. It was a problem. Um, it's more problematic to have matches like this than, than something that doesn't really happen anymore.
00:24:44
Speaker
But the thing is, you can't change it just on tier one. You have to go, you go all the way down. I guarantee you there are frigging matches. And we saw some of them in the MLR this weekend. You're just getting absolutely ass-holding the scrum. You know, you would, you would add to tier two, tier and lower rugby. This is the problem. You can't just make the rule change for tier one.
00:25:03
Speaker
Um, how they should, it's not going to happen. Never, ever, ever happen. Never ever. Uh, yeah, it's just, this was not, this was no, there was no reason for this match then. No. And, um, I w and I wanted to give props to, to one of the guys on the Italian teams for skinny, the blue, their loose head had absolutely blinder of a game. Even though he got fricking on the wrong end of the scoreboard, he made 30 tackles and had to play the whole frigging matches of loose head. Wow.
00:25:31
Speaker
That dude deserved that. If there was a player of the match for a team that got shit housed, he deserves it. That was not fun for him. I can promise you that much. And I think he was, one of them was throwing the lineouts for a little bit. I'm trying to think.
00:25:46
Speaker
Nope. Wasn't him. I think maybe it was the loose that they brought on to replace the front row. Lomaro made 36. Holy shit. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it was, it was, it was Neymar. The other loose had the replacement loose head that was throwing them in. So good for him too. Like couple of guys that definitely deserve.
00:26:02
Speaker
props, you know, and Ireland did what they were supposed to do. They put these guys right to the sword and didn't, and didn't bat an eye. Right. Um, and they did a good job of corralling the whole celebration. They're like, okay, dude, shut the fuck up. They were happy for, they were happy for Lowry because those were his first international points. Um, but other than that, like just, but didn't he score before the, the, uh, the red card
00:26:25
Speaker
Um, I think you score. I think you're carbonated. I think that was the first one that was, but yeah, that's, that's it. Yeah. That was it. So that was that. Um, but yeah, no, they did a good job of turning it down and, you know, they all felt for the, for the Italians afterwards, but can't do anything about it. And actually in the Georgian referee did a good job. Like you said, he followed the rule as it's written. Um,
00:26:52
Speaker
Nothing to be done. Nothing he could do. I would like to have seen a little bit more. I'm sorry about it. But like, yeah. Yeah. He's this first international game. He's really he's really in a bind anyway. So early. Yeah. His first Six Nations game. I will say that. So he's kind of in a bind in many ways. But so I think I think he did admirably and he should. There's nothing there's nothing. And even Karen Crowley said those are the rules. He did nothing wrong.
00:27:17
Speaker
Yeah. So nothing to be done. Right. Poor guy.

Club Rugby Matches Highlights

00:27:22
Speaker
Let's jump to the pram Friday night. Well, we won't spend too much time on this despite it was kind of a close to score. Worcester and Quinn's. It was because because Kim, another said asking for it. Yeah. That's right. Forgot you scored at the end.
00:27:39
Speaker
Yeah. And then he did the fucking like celebrated like he won the World Cup and everybody's like, dude, we got to get the ball back. So we got to lose a more square. You know, yeah, just like toss it into the crowd. It's like, no, no, you dummy. Get over here. Right. Fucking hell. But yeah, other than that, it was Quinn's. I mean,
00:28:02
Speaker
They left a less green way too much space. And you made a better green with space is not. It's never going to work out for you. No, it's never going to. It's never a good idea. Never, never. I don't like that.
00:28:23
Speaker
Well, I do, actually, because I have a different story for a different day, if I'm thinking about it from now. I do want to mention, though, I saw a video with Diamond, and it was like him trying to sell stuff to the, you know, to.
00:28:39
Speaker
sponsors and season ticket holders and whatnot, he was telling them, you know, here's what I'm about. And he starts talking about like, you win, you know, 90% of your home matches, and suddenly you're in the you're in the championships, you know, and like you win a couple of on the road. And now you're in the now you're in the playoffs. And it's like, it's like, that's what I aim to do. And it's like,
00:29:00
Speaker
Okay. Everybody aims to like, how do you aim to do it? Yeah. It's like, yeah, no, you just do this. Okay. Then do it. If it's ever so easy, everybody can do it. Right. Yeah. So go do it. It's not as easy as you make it buddy. Sorry. Yeah. It's not going to work out so well there. No, I have bad feelings over that. He'll get them up to like, you know, six at some point. Something like that. That's kind of what he did with sale. So.
00:29:28
Speaker
direct. I don't understand bringing him in. That's like the last person I would want there. But yeah, the one that was for sure. You guys do you have fun. Mr. Sale and London Irish speaking of the devil. Well, what an Irish just are the draw kings right now. They are. This is four or five for them, including another one against the same team back in Brentford. Right. And.
00:29:57
Speaker
Can't make this shit up. Let me see. I'm looking up the table to see how many. I got it right here. They have four draws. They have four draws. There you go. They've played 17 matches. Yeah. And they have four draws. The quarter of their game send in draw about. And a lot of times it's like
00:30:19
Speaker
It's them trying, and it's a lot of them, it's them fighting back too. Right. They did the comparisons. They did it here. I think they did it at Brentford as well. So, usually it's them just trying to fight back. Well, they just have so many weapons. Oh, they do. They truly do. And there's still guys that aren't on this field right here. Right. So, it's like, okay. What else could they possibly bring to the table? It's pretty wild.
00:30:45
Speaker
So I do want to talk about that sequence. The first half was at the end of the first half with fucking Jono Ross and Terrence Epitema. Yeah. Both those guys got to go. Epitema has been a huge dickhead.
00:31:07
Speaker
a lot towards the end of last year. And so it kind of got to be me to be like, even a, what the fuck? Like he's so talented, but then he does shit like that where he's fucking scored good for him. But first off, the throwing Aaron Reed into the, um, into the post was, was one thing. And then throwing the ball at him afterwards was, was no, you can, you can do one of those things. You can't do both.
00:31:31
Speaker
And it's like doing both makes you that much more of a dickhead. Especially it's like you could have heard of that. The first one you can chalk up to an incident even if it wasn't, at least, you know, the other one, like you're a dickhead. But here's the thing, Hepatema is such a good athlete. Like there's certain people that you're just like, okay, no, that just happened. But then there's other people you're like, no, no, no, he meant to do that. Like this was a, in my mind, he meant to do that. Like that's where, that's what it looked like to me anyway.
00:31:57
Speaker
And again, I'm not really, I don't like his action right now. I fucking love him as if he stopped doing that, just like John O. Ross, that swinging arm. What the fuck were those officials looking at that whole sequence? I don't know. Andrew Jackson was on something that weekend. Like, oh, that's just a natural arm. No, it's not. That is not natural. That is not natural. You dumb shit. No way. Forearm too suey in the head. Like, yeah, you can...
00:32:24
Speaker
can imagine why and because it was right after that that. Who hit him? Was it Ross that hit him right after? No, I'm sorry. Ross did that. It was crack now who just fucking like threw a shoulder right into Ross's back. And they were like looking at that. And it's like, did you see why he was doing? Yeah, he was fucking annoyed, man. And then like they even mentioned it. The team was like, oh, well, you know, the scorer throws the ball, like spikes the ball at the blue and
00:32:58
Speaker
I can't stand referees that have no spine. Right. Card to card to get the fuck off my field. We'll see in 10. Yeah, no shit. Right. Right. Can't do it. Can't do it no more. Yeah. The guy that was actually with player welfare again, same thing, you know.
00:33:13
Speaker
Come on, let's go. Let's get off it. So, oh, well, but we have not all well, but, you know, let's move. Let's get to it. Sale and sale and Irish do another draw. And I think they both get, they both got three points last time and they both get three this time. Right? Because we have both got the bonus. Absolutely wildness.
00:33:34
Speaker
Um, over to Bristol and the, uh, okay. The Bristolians, uh, kind of right at themselves just a little bit here. Couldn't believe. I don't know. They're so frigging bipolar. Oh yeah. They're super Jacqueline Hyde this year. This is, I think it helps when they have it real 10 though. Tiff Eden can play 10 in a way that, um, Yoan Lloyd is not a halfback.
00:33:58
Speaker
Can we put that anywhere in there? Yeah. He's an outside back, maybe a center too, but who knows? But keep him out in the wide because he can't really guide the team around the paddock.
00:34:12
Speaker
Um, yeah, having to feed in there really helps. It's like, he's not fantastic. He's more of a natural 10. That's just how it is. Yeah. He can at least knows how to guide the team. So I agree. I agree. Agreed. Um, yeah. And this is one of those ones that the wash just laid an absolute stinker. And it's really, you know, it's going to be a head scratcher for Lee black at no doubt. Now they're on by as well. So it's kind of one of those ones where you know what though, that might be a thing. So that's the thing in football.
00:34:40
Speaker
A lot of teams lose going into their buy. True. And we saw it with Saracens. They played. They laid an egg. And now we've seen it with Wasps. I haven't been paying attention. This is the first time I've really noticed it. So who's on buy next week? Something to consider. Let me find. Hold on. If I can get to the fixtures. Don't mess it up.
00:35:10
Speaker
So Bath. So this weekend, got to keep an eye on Bath. Oh, and they played Bristol. Oh, Bristol, look at Bristol. You don't want to, you know, team by team into bye weeks. So that's what happened there. Oh, shit. Yeah, it's just one of those ones where you're like, man, this wasn't great. Because like, who played poorly for wasps? I mean, it's...
00:35:32
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it was just a it was just a mood for them. Right. Overall, you know, the point proven, nobody played poorly for them. It just didn't work. Just like the had a bit, you know, they all kind of maybe they all took turns in the bit a little bit now and again. Yeah. Was it JTA who
00:35:55
Speaker
like got a penalty for doing something like take almost or did you jump a guy on his head? I can't remember what it was, but. Yeah. Oh, good. Well, I'm upside down. Yeah, it was like a two mongrel. Right. Yeah. Don't drop him. Yeah. Don't drop that guy. Right. But I was like, OK, that was that was his turn. Every other every other time I saw him, he was doing good things. But it's like, you know, when everybody fucks up once or twice, you're there. And this is what happens. Adds up adds up adds up real fast.
00:36:22
Speaker
So yeah, it's a, it's a tough, it's a tough one for the wall for walls to have to eat, but they'll be, they'll be better going forward after the bike. Right. I just don't understand. Like, well, yeah, I guess Bristol aren't shooting for that top draft spot. So what are they doing now? What are they doing now? I don't disagree. Speaking of what are they doing now? Um, the, the bathmen on the road. Yeah. Up to Kingston park and tune.
00:36:49
Speaker
Yeah. And not an easy place to go in and win. No, in general. And we talked about the names that they were missing the other week. And we saw the return with some of them and there's still some that are on the fringe as well. But, you know, Miles Reed coming back, Coco came off the bench, which is only good. Yeah, we saw. You played OK. Yeah. You played all right. Put in a hell of a super sub performance on that one. Right. And we know that
00:37:15
Speaker
Uh, Underhill was due to be a part of this team, but, uh, had to drop late because of illness, but so there's, there's that as well. Um, again, they still have this, can I get you to give Max Clark a little love? Is it possible? Yeah, he played pretty well. He was pretty good. He was pretty good. No doubt. Um,
00:37:36
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, and he, you know, and everybody had, we, we know like Chris Harris is, is a tough guy to go through as far as a defensive person goes. So of course, you know, that's the, that's the kind of mold to a lesser degree, obviously with, in terms of what he does overall, but that is the type of mold that Max Clark is in. Yeah. And he played pretty well. And he was handy in attack too, I thought. So, um, so it was time to landfill.
00:38:02
Speaker
I love that guy. I really do like that guy. You know, he's on a rotten team right now, but man, he deserves all the credit he gets. He's he's really good. He's just playing the wrong position for the wrong country right now. How how does Nathan Hughes leave this club? And does he? I'm still on that. I'm sure I'm sure he's wondering. I'm sure it's a top top decision in his head at this point, because I don't want Bristol don't need him.
00:38:31
Speaker
I don't know if they can afford them either.
00:38:34
Speaker
if they're not going to play him that much. So it's like, it just makes sense. Like this is a Nathan Hughes, we haven't seen in a long, long time. And, you know, there's some players who still, they get by on their reputation alone and he's been one of them even into this year. And suddenly it's like, he goes to bath and he's the player that we remember from five years ago, it seems. Right, he's Top Bugger right there.
00:39:03
Speaker
And even with the yellow, he had such an impact on this match in a positive way. His net impact was highly positive. He seems to love playing with this team. He's just loving it.
00:39:22
Speaker
So I hope he stays. I like them here. I like this. It's one of those like nobody move. Everything's going right. Nobody moves. I gotta find it right. It's right here. This is where it is right there.
00:39:38
Speaker
Yeah, no doubt.

Performances and Players Spotlight in Rugby

00:39:40
Speaker
And then, of course, we'd be stupid to pass over our our Eagles getting over the line. Mr. Greg Peterson coming back to form as the man. And I love seeing him, you know, that's like his third or fourth try or something like that. You know, he's definitely been one of the more consistent players over the last or since they come back from the come from the championship because he was, you know, he started with him down there. And since he's just been he has been in that line up 90 percent of the time.
00:40:07
Speaker
And that, that is something to say at the very least. Right. I mean, in this, he played like every, can you play almost every minute last year? It was ridiculous. It was a high number. He was definitely up there in terms of how many minutes he played compared to the rest of the team. So pretty ridiculous. Right. And it's good with him and Sean Robinson are, I mean, that's their, that's their lock crew right there. It's a great second row right there. He has a very good second row, no doubt.
00:40:31
Speaker
Just not wasn't wasn't there. This wasn't there for the castle. Nope. And Beth wanted it. They really wanted that. Beth did a good job. So they shut down Robinson. Yeah, they Peterson got one over and didn't get over to. But that's good. Fucking McGuigan does. Yeah, it's really good. But Radwin did not beat them. I think that was there. And you think any like there was like they're back three. Well, Beth did a really good job of keeping the field spread and
00:40:59
Speaker
and shutting them down. They had nowhere to run. Right. So this is what we saw last week that they finally turned on the right side, which is what we were hoping for. Right. Yeah. There'll be a problem from here out. I think so. They're going to be nutty. Yeah, they're going to be tough to play. Won't spend too long on this one over to welfare road. Lester and Gloucester. Yeah. Gloucester had to lead to halftime, but really didn't ever feel like Lester was going to lose this match.
00:41:30
Speaker
I had hope. I mean, yes, but for different reasons. For different reasons. But then I thought about it. And I was like, you know what, I'm okay if Lester lose this because Saracens aren't playing. They got Lester coming off the bye. Yeah.
00:41:47
Speaker
if Gloucester lose, you know, don't gain position on them, I'm okay with that. So ultimately it's like, okay, in the long run, it's good for salaries, because Exeter are not staying, I mean, we didn't know at the time, Exeter aren't staying for. So that's not a problem. And yeah, so it's really like, can we keep them at arm's distance? Like, you know, the London Irish is on the Gloucesters and the sales, because those are the threats really.
00:42:14
Speaker
Yeah, that's right. Not so much Exeter. So I'm fine with Salem, London, Irish tying. That's like kind of the perfect result. Oh, they both got the bonus point. Right. And then Gloucester got no points. And I'm OK with that, too. Yeah, same. I'm not mad about it. Yeah, it was just, you know, it. But it was, yeah, it was not. It was it was never out of control, really. And Freddie Burns is doing a brilliant job of controlling this Leicester team in the absence of George Ford, obviously, and
00:42:43
Speaker
That's why they brought him in. And do you have a stinker or two to start off this, you know, this extended period of absence? Yep. But he's right at the ship. Right. He has. He's right at the ship. And we would be remiss if we didn't talk about the prop try. Oh, the Ellington try. Ellington try with Freddie's help. Yeah. Nice little, you know, the old lock prop combination, 40 meter run, you know. Yeah, everybody had that one down on their prop bets.
00:43:12
Speaker
No doubt. So, good stuff. And good stuff from Gloucester to a point. They had patches, but at the same time, they need to put it together a little more consistently if they want to find ways to move up the table. And happy retirement to Charlie Sharples. Wish him the best. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
00:43:28
Speaker
I think it was time. I think we talked about that. But he I super appreciate it was one of those like, I appreciate what he has done. It's not there anymore. So no, it's not. I'm glad he took this Yeah, before he got hurt or something. Yeah, take it easy on your body. He's he's had a lot of injuries over his career too. And he has. Yeah, just take it down a notch. I remember him limping over the line because he popped a hammy.
00:43:49
Speaker
But we had an open field in front of the rail. It was so sad to watch. It's just like, yay, but oh, God, that's terrible. Right. But yeah, happy retirement, Charlie. Have fun and enjoy the next phase of your life. But all right. And then over to the gardens. Just no, I don't want to.
00:44:12
Speaker
I don't like this match. No, neither. For a lot of reasons. Okay, so you were escorted, Dave, you were his try. Did you do anything else on the match? Not really. Okay, thank you. He did a lot of going backwards and normal stuff, and that bump on his back is weird. A little bit. He's always, he's perpetually hunched, because that's all he can do. That's why I call him the caveman.
00:44:38
Speaker
Yeah, just don't get it. Dave Carey ball. Right. Sometimes forwards too. But that back three for for Exeter are so much fun when they actually get the ball. Yeah, I mean, I like the I like that seven eight for sure. Capstick and granddaughter.
00:45:00
Speaker
No question. Those guys. Yeah. I was talking about their back three back three. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Those three. Yeah. Of course. That's what you're talking about. I'm an idiot. Yes. Josh Hodge is awesome. And we know this, but he just doesn't get the freaking shackles taking them off because Rob Baxter exists. That's why. Like you look at this team, the Exeter that we saw with. Yeah. As you mentioned, a capstick and grandona.
00:45:28
Speaker
Shnicker shickering is is fucking everywhere. But then, yeah, a clarity, Hendrickson, Woodburn, Hodge, these guys who who don't ever get a sniff of the field. Well, some of them do, but, you know, the like the Hodges and the players. Right. Like what's Ian Whitten ever doing out there except for right now? Just standing in one place.
00:45:54
Speaker
hoping to get run over or hoping to run over someone. And they put him on the wing instead of like sometimes. Yeah, it's ridiculous. Fucking put your burner out there. Let him go. That is so ridiculous. Yeah. No question.
00:46:08
Speaker
That's that and deserved a little bit better from this match. They did. Um, Augustus's try was fun. Just asshole. Like I said, asshole in the scrum, like holy shit. Right. And that's how, you know, you had a, you had a good day in that one. And then the yoga is great. Like.
00:46:28
Speaker
I know he doesn't get a lot of playing time right now, but man, just keep shucking him out there. It's going to, it's going to pay dividends. Right. Although it's going to get, I think it's going to get tougher for him because now both wallers are coming to Northampton starting next year. So.
00:46:44
Speaker
Yeah, but they're like the Owens like they're they've seen that they're on the back end of the career. That's like, they don't need you all the time. They can, they can take some time out and let somebody else have the light right now. I tell you, if if you're gonna keep playing like this, he's 2021. I mean, and look at how look at
00:47:04
Speaker
like he's skinny. He's not just a like he's a prop. Yeah. And he's, you know, he's still I thought he did pretty well on the scrums today on the weekend, but just his ability in the loose, his potential is so off the fucking charts. So I'm super excited about it because, you know, some guys have like, especially the props coming up.
00:47:29
Speaker
or who are established now. Even your Joe Marla, your John Afoas, who kind of never changed shape over their careers. Afoa could still get about it. So that's maybe a bad example. But like, Yogan's fucking so fucking mobile. You look at Genshin Sync and their fit runners can go anywhere and go 80.
00:47:53
Speaker
Jogan's going to fit right into that kind of mold. And there's a potential for him to make that kind of impact. So looking forward to that. Yeah, we can only hope. Love more. Love more.

Super Rugby Matches Review

00:48:04
Speaker
All right. Let's jump down under Highlanders Crusaders, kicking out the Super Rugby Weekend. And St. Crusaders doesn't matter who's playing. They really are. They really are.
00:48:21
Speaker
Will Jordan should never leave the All Blacks 15 ever? Like apart from like slotted rest. Unless he plays 14 or something. Jordan is at 15, yeah. Or Bowdoin, fuck. Who knows? Who knows what could happen. But yeah, this would be the only reason. Right. So here's the thing. And if this Highlanders team had showed up last week against the Chiefs, that would have been a better match and they might have had a shot.
00:48:51
Speaker
but they decided this is the week to guys show up against the gracias and you can't, you can't play to your opponents. That's not, that's not a good way to go about playing. Like up and down is not good. Yeah. I think they, they came out firing up, fired up because I feel like, and I'm looking, I need to go to the match page, but my impression from this match was that they play hard early. And then just after 20 minutes or so faded, like they, they didn't have, they don't have that much. So it's like, do they have 20 at the beginning or 20 at the end? And then like,
00:49:22
Speaker
Yeah, let me see if there's the okay. I can't tell which team is which but I'm guessing from all the tries and stuff towards the end the top that team on the top is okay yeah they scored a bunch of tries early on, so.
00:49:37
Speaker
And then, or they scored a bunch of times anyway, and I think that kind of petered out. A couple penalties and a try and, you know, start to shock the Crusaders, but then petered out. Yeah. So yeah, I think I'm not sure how much of it was.
00:49:54
Speaker
you know, them showing up or just, you know, blowing their load early. And that was it. Yeah. Maybe, maybe a little bit, but it's a crusader. So right. They're just a machine for the day. They, they, they, they, they cruised through. Um, let's go over to new South Wales and the ties like our double against the reds. Um, yeah, it's, it was, it was a little wet. So it made things a little difficult.
00:50:24
Speaker
Was it deja vu? I thought I saw this match last week when the Reds won the, by with their like defense strangle, strangulating the other team in the rain. Like, yeah, something like that. Yeah. Pretty much pretty much similar. Yeah. It's the same. Taz are a quality side, but Reds are just like, yeah, we'll just going to not give you up. Yeah. They know, you know, they can, they can suffocate you and win that way. And that's, that's a good team when you can win multiple ways. So it's a, it's tough. And they didn't even have Tupo this match either. Right. So.
00:50:54
Speaker
And you won't play this coming week either. So yeah, I would just not know with not that back issue.
00:50:59
Speaker
No, no, the lineups out. So he's always, I didn't even see that. Yep. So nevermind me in my big mouth. Um, but yeah, it's just, it's, you know, this is the reds there. They're another tough team. That's just never going to be easy to push over. And if you don't step up in all phases of the game, they make it right. And the ties did, it's just, they couldn't match. That's all they couldn't keep up on the school board. They're not there yet. They will. They, they very well could be, they have the talent, but they, they're not there yet.
00:51:25
Speaker
Maybe if they, I think they got another one against them. Yeah, they have another match against these guys I think this year. So we'll see possibly that. Brumby's and Fujian Drua. Unfortunately more of the same for the Drua. There was some fun things going on in this match, but just not quite coming off. So. Oh yeah. That was, I think I watched this game live. So it was, I think it started around,
00:51:51
Speaker
10 or something like that. It sounds right. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and so I was like, I fuck it. Um, I'm awake. I'll keep, I'll just watch it. And I got to half and it was fast. It was like, yeah, as you said, drew, we're throwing everything at him and it just wasn't clicking. Um, so, but it's their second, again, I understand that they're feeling a little down, um, after the match, but it's because it's, you know, two, they're, you know, two from two, they feel like they've put in a better effort than the results bid, but right.
00:52:20
Speaker
I mean, we'll get to in a second, but look at the force just last year, two years ago. Yeah. Yeah. You have a time.
00:52:29
Speaker
Yeah. Just give it time. And, you know, there's a lot to like about this. The one guy I want to point out for Drew was Tawaki, who I kind of made fun of because he was playing for New York last year, last year. And he actually did really well on the scrum. And that's not nothing against two guys. And he's going to go. Oh, yes, you're right. That's absolutely correct. I'd forgotten about that. Yeah. No, he busted his butt. He showed well. Give him a credit. Against James Slipper. So, yeah, Slipper's no joke. There's no doubt about that.
00:52:57
Speaker
Yeah, Brumbies did what they're supposed to the whole time and, you know, the jury gave him problems. But, you know, in the end, like, you know, the banks try that was just complete lightning. I was just like, oh, OK, that's the end. Sorry, guys. And it's gone. And it's over. Oh, shit. All right. Jumping back to Forsyth Bar, Blues and Hurricanes.
00:53:23
Speaker
Artie Sevilla, you beautiful man, you. That's the one that he should have had last week. And Blues are like, God damn it. Why didn't you give it to him then? Right.
00:53:40
Speaker
And then, you know, there was a guy I wasn't super thrilled to see in the lineup, but he actually showed really well. And that was Balan Sullivan. I was really, really impressed with the way he played. And is that to say that he's like going to be the everyday starter? No, but man, he did show something. So... Although he's starting this week too, so... Yeah, right. No, I think he's going to be...
00:53:59
Speaker
in the 23 pretty much every week from here out and I don't see a reason why not okay that was that was really good for him um for the blues uh two of us a check was totally worth the belly it has to be said like he he is a complete pain he has he's very much
00:54:17
Speaker
in that mold of that rugby league mold of just take some contact and find a way to get rid of it afterwards. And it was like, oh, and he's he takes bodies. He's bodies. So it's not fun to it's not fun to tell him. Yeah, I only watched the last 20 of this match that we watched together. Oh, yeah. How did how did he and how was that match up against Julian Sevilla? I mean, I think he got the better of him, honestly. And that's why that's probably one of the reasons they brought in.
00:54:46
Speaker
and also Jordan, I think, came off of the slight knock, which didn't help. But it was probably well-timed in many ways because they brought him on, they dropped Seveia back out to wing, and they moved, I think it was Ryasi, to fullback. Or maybe his hoos doesn't really matter. So yeah, I think the idea was not bad. The execution was less than good.
00:55:13
Speaker
So that's how that worked out. But, you know, and blues, man, the blues did have this match. I was watching this and I was like, God damn it, this is just going to be one of those days where I want to yell at everything, isn't it? And it worked out all right. So, yeah, so we had Jared hosted a couple of friends, even me, this past weekend for the six stations.
00:55:38
Speaker
So he tells like I had already seen some of the highlights or some of the rugby from the morning. So I already knew what happened because somebody had spoiled it on something or other. Yeah. So I kind of knew it was a thing. And I was like, so when Jared's like, I've seen some of them, like, how far have you seen? And then there was a time during the I think it was the England match where the
00:56:05
Speaker
where the comms were talking about it and they're talking about, well, there was always the hurricanes match this and Jared's wife, Catherine, just goes, I was not in the room yet. So focused. But yeah, but when you came back in, she's still doing it while it's being said. And you're like, what are you doing? And I'm like, she's doing her job.
00:56:29
Speaker
Yeah, she had a good job. I keep me uninformed in that one. Yeah. Let me find out for myself. That was a good one. And I wasn't satisfied about it. You would not want to want it wanted to be been spoiled on that. So no, no, that was that was a fun one to not be spoiled on. No doubt. And then rebels force.
00:56:52
Speaker
I think I put the hex on the Rebels. I'm sorry, guys. Like, yeah, they're they're doing it again. They're such a good team and they fucking suck. Yeah, they have so much to like. And to the forces credit, this is the most positive sign you could probably have for them. They should have won last week. They got a bonus point away from home this week. They're going home this weekend. Like,
00:57:16
Speaker
If you're from Perth and you're a fan of this team, you should be very excited right now. Yeah. Yeah. And I see the names here and like they're talking about like Ralston having a great role as a super stub. Absolutely. I totally agree. That is a great role for them. You know, they have a, they have a nice front row. They have a good back. They have some quality backups to go with it. I, you know, Reesham Passatoa was not getting the time he deserved at the Brumbies and Lola CO will do that to you. Right.
00:57:46
Speaker
Yeah, he's, he's not taking that 10 shirt off anytime soon. I really like the way he plays. I know he's not kicking for goal. Pryor's got that job, but he's a nice steady hand right inside Passatoua too, because Passatoua is still young, you know, much like we see with Nick White and, and Lola Cio. Pryor is a very nice player to have inside Passatoua to just keep him calm. And then he had Kahui outside of him, who's, again, another healthy veteran that can just
00:58:12
Speaker
All right, don't worry about it, kid. We got this. We're good. And man, that is such a blessing for this kid. And I really hope it grows. His growth just goes through the roof because of the setup he's got there. And I'm really pulling for him. We have all the respect in the world for Brockey. Manasa Mata Ali is an upgrade.
00:58:33
Speaker
And it's flat out. Sorry. I mean, you know, not sorry. No disrespect because he's fucking ridiculous. Oh, yeah, I know. He's he's playing and, you know, he was kind of the the odd person out in that factory over in the Crusaders. Who can you blame? Who can blame you with Will Jordan out there? And, you know, who was it who decided that the best course of action was to run between? Was it it was Wells and
00:59:03
Speaker
I don't know. I can't remember. Maybe in Matt Phillip or something. It was it was just like, yeah, it's two large humans. Yeah. It's like, I don't remember who that was, but it was not a good idea. Just the same. That's a poor decision on your part. Why are you doing that? Oh, man. Right. It may have been new. It might have been 12 and eight going the other way. But still, it was just not a good idea. And Wells is
00:59:28
Speaker
He makes it fun to watch at least. Yeah, he's very good. He's a quality player. He will not leave that Rebels back row if they're smart, apart from, you know, forced rest.
00:59:41
Speaker
And, and Reese Hodge, dude. Oh God. Why? Why so much? Why? Dude, it's, it was made worse when it was like two, I realized it was two minutes left in the match. And I was like, you got a fucking, you, you intentionally knocked with two minutes to go when you already had it yet. Like, what are you, what are you doing? What are you doing, man? Obviously it's just natural reaction, but God damn it, dude. Like what are you doing?
01:00:09
Speaker
He's killing me. He's killing me smalls. He's killing me smalls. I'm like unfortunate. That's all I can say. I'm trying to be nice, not really unfortunate. God damn it. All right.

Free Jacks vs LA Match Controversy

01:00:27
Speaker
Real quick, we'll do the MLWIP around and talk about the Freejacks. Let's talk about the Freejacks on Sunday night first.
01:00:34
Speaker
We had them. We freaking had those assholes. Damn it. You have three disallowed tries. One of them. One of those should have counted. One of them definitely did not count. The first one. Oh, yeah. The first one. He was out in touch. Yeah, walks definitely. And then you disallow the second one, which I don't...
01:00:55
Speaker
Clear and obvious is the terminology, guys. Come on. Yeah. And then the third one at that point. OK, at that point, when you're JP, who's who's an experienced ref, who I was saying very nice things about ahead of this. Thanks, JP, for making me look like an ass. No joke. But yes, that's that's not hard. I mean, no, that's I said it wrong. That's hard. Let me get that right. It's easy to make me look like an ass, but JP is exceedingly good at it, too.
01:01:26
Speaker
Just at that point, as a referee, you got to know I have fucked this team. They're going to feel aggrieved for the one, but not too aggrieved because it wasn't a try. But the second one, it's like you disallow it. It's on the line. You can't do two on the lines.
01:01:43
Speaker
And he was in bad position for that third one, too. And the third one was at the mall, right? Like, you have to assume try. You will warn the try. You don't have to have seen the ball grounded to be like, okay, they pushed it over and the guy slid into the try zone. That's a try. Like, you have to award that. The call has to be,
01:02:06
Speaker
You know, is there a reason I can't award the try? Or, you know, it's a try on the field. Tell me if I need to overturn it. You have to be positive about one of them. And that, yeah. I just wish he had been in a better position because when that ball goes down, you know, somebody's got to try and slide an arm underneath. Right. It's not a new thing to try that. I've done it. You've done it. And you're on the other side, yeah. So, yeah. No, no, no. I always, I never did that. I always held him up. Yeah, me too.
01:02:35
Speaker
But overall, this is really good stuff from the Freejacks and really, really happy with this team.
01:02:44
Speaker
Rugby morning, Fitzy, if you're listening, like, dude, stop disrespecting this team. And stop giving your own team as much pomp as you give them sometimes because they're not good. Right. They're not good. Yeah, this is the free jacks, you know, walking into the champ stadium and giving them all they could handle. Give them every little bit that they could do. Yeah. Let's go to Boston next time, please. Right.
01:03:09
Speaker
I'd like to see that that goes. Yeah. This is twice. We've been the cops. I, I, this is one of those you come out of it and you heads up. Yeah. We're ready to take on the fucking world. Absolutely. Yeah. No, I dare the rest of the league to take this down and say, this is going to be easy. This is the standard.
01:03:26
Speaker
It's going to be fun. I agree. Um, real quick, um, Toronto took down all the L'Oreal Glories. Awful. The Gurney's beat Seawolves. I think Seawolves are overrated. Um, that was at home too. Um, Seattle was at home. Uh, Dallas beat or, um, got stomped by rugby New York there. Dallas is actually really bad. I think the other two teams just laid eggs against him. Um, Houston lost to San Diego. Again, another team that's probably a little overblown. Yes, they beat Los Angeles, but.
01:03:54
Speaker
I don't think they're for real. So there's that. So that'll be good. Free Jacks are back in action this week. It's rivalry time. Bring it on, New York.
01:04:05
Speaker
Although, did you see the Rangers, the rugby New Jersey? Yeah. Oh yeah. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Love it. They are. I know. They're like Hoboken, aren't they? Yeah. You're in New Jersey, dude. That's awesome. That's awesome. All right. Cool. All right. So that is,
01:04:29
Speaker
That is it for
