Speaker: Welcome back to the Fresh Cakes podcast.
Speaker: We're back after another little hiatus of technical difficulties there.
Speaker: I'm fresh.
Speaker: This is Pancakes.
Speaker: What happened, Pancakes?
Speaker: We lost everything.
Speaker: We lost everything.
Speaker: I think it's, you know, the hamster that runs my internet.
Speaker: I think it stopped running mid-episode.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: We cut out a little bit, and it just... I had to get a new one.
Speaker: I had to get a new hamster and put it on the wheel.
Speaker: The old hamster's fired, so... All right, so just pretend we talked about Aaron Rodgers and everything.
Speaker: There was...
Speaker: I think the least important part of the episode was me losing to my brother in fantasy football because I talked a little smack and I did lose to him.
Speaker: So really, nobody missed out on anything.
Speaker: It was kind of a shit episode anyways.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: So we move on to today.
Speaker: So what are we talking about today?
Speaker: Well, you think that that was the most important part of the last episode.
Speaker: I think the most important part that got cut out for me fresh was one of the things we're going to talk about today, which is Colorado getting embarrassed.
Speaker: And I did call that in our previous episode that the world will never hear.
Speaker: And we're going to talk a little bit more about just update on our college football teams and then some NFL football as well.
Speaker: Yeah, actually kind of nice because we can say we predicted anything we won in the last episode because no one's ever going to hear it.
Speaker: So honestly, we could just say we did it all.
Speaker: But yeah, Colorado got absolutely demolished.
Speaker: Pretty hilarious.
Speaker: I think we both called it.
Speaker: I mean, they're playing real teams now.
Speaker: And if you have to go to double overtime with Colorado State, Oregon's kind of a different animal.
Speaker: So...
Speaker: 42-6.
Speaker: Oregon just shit all over them.
Speaker: They even got their extra point on that one touchdown they did score blocked by, you know, like Oregon's.
Speaker: By this time, Oregon was putting in like their third string guys, guys that are never going to probably see another football game.
Speaker: Yeah, the dudes that like paint the field and shit were playing.
Speaker: Yeah, the equipment manager was in, I think, a kicker or something, you know?
Speaker: Yeah, and you can see it was 35-0 at halftime, and they only won 42-6.
Speaker: So even Oregon's backups won by one point in the second half.
Speaker: But pretty brutal.
Speaker: I think we talked about last week, what was it, The Rock and Lil Wayne and everything.
Speaker: We're back in Colorado.
Speaker: It got a little crazy, and we both, I think you said this first,
Speaker: Thought the TCU win was a little overrated that first week.
Speaker: And the hype train just kept cruising, yeah?
Speaker: Yeah, I really think that the TCU win was overrated because you said, like, they only had, like, three starters on that team from the team that went to the national championship.
Speaker: The Colorado State game was close.
Speaker: Yeah, I know it's a rivalry game, whatever.
Speaker: But, I mean, if the Rock and Lil Wayne are there and you can only beat, you know, your...
Speaker: your unranked rival and over like two overtimes, man, I don't know.
Speaker: But, and you know what?
Speaker: They're not going to have it any easier this week because they have to play USC.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And our favorite little guy with the fingernail, you know, words, is it going to be fuck Colorado?
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: We'll see what he's, is he still doing the fingernails?
Speaker: Do you think it's going to be fuck buffs or do you think it's going to be fuck prime?
Speaker: Oh, because, you know, Caleb Williams seems to really be on like that clickbaity train like Prime is because, you know, Prime just tweets out when, when, when.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And I wonder if they're going to, you know, is Coach Prime going to paint his fingernails maybe, too, in response to Caleb Williams?
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: Yeah, it's like Los Angeles against Colorado, Los Angeles, basically.
Speaker: It's two media mogul schools.
Speaker: We'll see what happens.
Speaker: I think we both, I know we're going to agree that USC is going to kick the shit out of them again.
Speaker: Do you think they're going to score?
Speaker: I don't know, man.
Speaker: Yeah, maybe like they did against Oregon in the fourth quarter.
Speaker: You know what I mean?
Speaker: After Cale Williams only has to play the first half because they're out by like 50.
Speaker: Yeah, he'll have five fucking touchdowns in the first half and he won't play anymore.
Speaker: You know, I mean, he's the kids pretty fucking amazing, even though I don't like him that much.
Speaker: Speaking of college football, is Michigan going to play anyone this year?
Speaker: Are they just playing fucking shit teams every week?
Speaker: What's going on with that?
Speaker: You guys beat Rutgers.
Speaker: What a dumb question when you know that we play you in a few weeks.
Speaker: What a stupid question.
Speaker: So I guess, are you saying that Penn State's no one?
Speaker: Because you really just kind of like did a cell phone there.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: What's a cell phone?
Speaker: A cell phone.
Speaker: Oh, a cell phone.
Speaker: When you own yourself, when you say something stupid.
Speaker: And I'll check yourself.
Speaker: You just did it again.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Because who asks what a cell phone is, even if I thought that's what you said.
Speaker: So like that didn't even make sense.
Speaker: I thought it was like some cool saying I didn't know about, man.
Speaker: You just cell phoned it, man.
Speaker: Back to back cell phones.
Speaker: I'll take it.
Speaker: No, we're going to obviously we have to play Ohio State before you guys.
Speaker: So I guess I'm like, that's like the big game of our season.
Speaker: But so you guys play you before Ohio State.
Speaker: So, I mean, like, and I think you're tougher than Ohio State this year.
Speaker: So you guys beat Rutgers only by 24.
Speaker: What do you think about that?
Speaker: I guess Rutgers was undefeated.
Speaker: What I think about it, okay, so I would love to talk more about this because do you remember me texting you this past Saturday that dumbass Pat McAfee picked Rutgers to beat Michigan at Michigan?
Speaker: I did see that, yeah.
Speaker: I don't know if he had been working too many hours or drinking too much that morning, but I mean, that was just a silly— I guess I'm glad because, you know, the game day curse sometimes when they'll pick—
Speaker: Everybody will pick the same team to win.
Speaker: And then it's a huge episode.
Speaker: So maybe I should be thanking you, Pat McAfee.
Speaker: So actually, thank you.
Speaker: But still, that was just dumb.
Speaker: I don't know how you make that pick.
Speaker: I missed that game day.
Speaker: Was there any reasoning behind it?
Speaker: Or was he just trying to like shake up the board?
Speaker: I'm not really sure.
Speaker: I kind of had a lower volume because I had a buddy stay with me this past week who doesn't care about football as much.
Speaker: So like I was like kind of talking as they were going through the picks at the end and I just saw it go across the bottom.
Speaker: But so, I mean, that was kind of crazy.
Speaker: And you know what I actually think, because I know this might be a controversy as like a Michigan fan.
Speaker: I'm not a huge Harbaugh fan.
Speaker: And I think that they were playing better without him coaching.
Speaker: And that was his first game back from that suspension.
Speaker: Oh, I thought he had one.
Speaker: I thought it was four total games.
Speaker: I guess I'm probably wrong about that.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: With Harbaugh on sideline.
Speaker: You're right.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: So beat Rutgers.
Speaker: I mean, again, only 31-7, you could say.
Speaker: But Rutgers was 3-0 for whatever that means.
Speaker: So it wasn't the easiest win.
Speaker: And then
Speaker: And it's a win's a win, you know, and I think that Michigan is always going to be more conservative.
Speaker: I don't think that they ever really try to run the score up and they'll definitely, when they have feel like they're secured in a win, they'll put in guys to maybe prevent other, you know, their, their true stars from getting hurt.
Speaker: So at least there's that because, you know, Blake Corham got hurt playing against Illinois last year.
Speaker: So.
Speaker: Yeah, I think Penn State does that too.
Speaker: It's kind of like, look, you got the win locked up.
Speaker: Let's keep guys ready for the real part of the season, which is always the second half.
Speaker: Yeah, and I think you don't want anybody to get hurt, and I think it helps maybe preserve some of the play calling that you might be trying to save, because I...
Speaker: I highly doubt Michigan has shown everything yet because they know they have to play a team like Penn State coming up.
Speaker: And they know they have to play Ohio State.
Speaker: So they're not, I feel like, going to put everything out there.
Speaker: And I will say that that Michigan mentality and probably a lot of Penn State mentality too is just a win is a win.
Speaker: It doesn't matter how much you win by.
Speaker: All that matters is the W. And that's it, really.
Speaker: Especially against some of these teams like
Speaker: 31-7 is still technically like you beat the shit out of them.
Speaker: Speaking of Penn State, my team, whiteout game, big, big primetime game.
Speaker: Iowa coming in ranked 24.
Speaker: We were ranked 7.
Speaker: We're 6 now.
Speaker: I just looked it up, so we went up one spot.
Speaker: But it's a logjam up top.
Speaker: It's hard to move around up there.
Speaker: But
Speaker: We also scored 31 points.
Speaker: The cool thing is, playing a ranked team, how many points did we let up, Pancakes?
Speaker: Are you familiar with?
Speaker: With points?
Speaker: Yeah, you familiar with points?
Speaker: Did we let up any at all?
Speaker: I don't think you did, did you?
Speaker: No, I think we did.
Speaker: I think it was, I may remember this wrong.
Speaker: I think it was the first time since like 2000 that Iowa was shut out.
Speaker: So that was pretty fire.
Speaker: I mean, turnovers galore.
Speaker: Our quarterback had he only had 166 yards, but he had four touchdowns and we just devastated them.
Speaker: Just devastated them.
Speaker: So that was pretty cool.
Speaker: I love a shot, man.
Speaker: You know what else is pretty cool?
Speaker: Aside from that shout out, is that Kentucky actually beat Vanderbilt at Vanderbilt, which is not an accomplishment to many programs, but to Kentucky it is.
Speaker: But they have to play Florida this weekend, who somehow snuck their way back into the rankings somehow because it's Florida.
Speaker: But it's a home game for Kentucky.
Speaker: They just beat someone, Florida.
Speaker: We talked about it last week.
Speaker: Yeah, they did to sneak it back into the top 25.
Speaker: And the team that they beat is, one second, I have to look it up because I didn't actually watch that game.
Speaker: They beat Tennessee.
Speaker: Oh, that's right.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: But it was at the Swamp.
Speaker: We actually, it was two weeks ago.
Speaker: That's why I couldn't remember off the top of my head because they played like Charlotte last week, you know, the University of Charlotte.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Well, good for them.
Speaker: I mean, we'll see what happens there.
Speaker: I mean, look, before we get off the Penn State thing, four fumble recoveries.
Speaker: I mean, this defense is kind of fire, man.
Speaker: So I don't know.
Speaker: Michigan-Penn State is going to be fucking an awesome game.
Speaker: I really hope we beat Ohio State, obviously, but even more so under our circumstances.
Speaker: So we'll see what happens.
Speaker: But do you think Kentucky has a shot going back to –
Speaker: the subject that you changed to changing back to that subject.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: You know what the head coach Mark Stoops said, uh, he said on KSR, he said, I have great confidence in the people of Kentucky to get up early and pound some beers.
Speaker: And that's what he said about Kentucky kickoff against Florida because it's a noon kickoff.
Speaker: And I love that he said that.
Speaker: So I really hope that, uh,
Speaker: Lexington doesn't let him down.
Speaker: I hope everybody pounds some beers, gets there, is loud.
Speaker: Because he's not a big fan of noon kickoffs.
Speaker: Mark Stoops isn't.
Speaker: And the game in Kentucky is kind of historically not great at noon kickoffs.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: It is tough.
Speaker: Try living on the West Coast where you got to watch fucking football at 9 a.m.
Speaker: It sucks.
Speaker: Coffee and football.
Speaker: Pounding some coffee and watching the game, man.
Speaker: We'll definitely see.
Speaker: I'm sure that I'll get mad and I'll, you know, just be upset in general because I'm sure that it's going to be a real challenge for Kentucky because Florida always is.
Speaker: But it's college and they're two kind of, no offense,
Speaker: especially this year, kind of mid-tier teams.
Speaker: Florida hoping to be more than that, but I think anything could happen.
Speaker: I think you guys could get them.
Speaker: I'll be very happy if they do, obviously.
Speaker: Go assorted cats, dude.
Speaker: I always try to be realistic about this, and I say that, and then it'll be Saturday, and I'll have it in my head that they're going to win, and then they might not be that way.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So we'll see what happens with that.
Speaker: But while we're talking about football, there's a whole nother league after college.
Speaker: If you're really good, you can go.
Speaker: It's called the NFL.
Speaker: Have you heard of the NFL?
Speaker: I have.
Speaker: It's pretty cool.
Speaker: You know, it's not cool.
Speaker: Letting up 70 fucking points in a game in the fucking NFL where you're supposed to be the top 1% of athletes in the world.
Speaker: It was like the third of all time, wasn't it?
Speaker: A point scored in an NFL game.
Speaker: I think they had a chance to kick a field goal to tie or break the all-time scoring record.
Speaker: All time.
Speaker: You might see 70 points in college.
Speaker: Yeah, against a D1 school, against a D2 school.
Speaker: Yeah, like Oregon playing some dumb shit or whatever.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Um, you don't really see, like we just talked about Michigan and Penn state aren't like run up the score schools, but like, you know, you do see some like Ohio state kind of shitty, like they'll run up the score at Oregon.
Speaker: Um, but this is the pros man.
Speaker: Like even the worst team in the pros should be able to like dominate any, any college team, you know, and fucking Denver Broncos looked like a college team against the Miami dolphins, dude.
Speaker: So yeah,
Speaker: That was pretty crazy.
Speaker: I love that that happened, though, because I can't stand the Broncos and even more so I can't stand Russell Wilson.
Speaker: And I think this was part of the episode that got cut out or, you know, that we couldn't recover last week.
Speaker: Right, right.
Speaker: Is the guy on TikTok that does a series every week.
Speaker: He's like, how long into the seasons?
Speaker: Does it take for Russell Wilson to throw as many touchdown passes as he has bathrooms in his house?
Speaker: He has 12 bathrooms in his house.
Speaker: So he updates after every Broncos game how close Russell Wilson is to achieving throwing as many touchdown passes as there are bathrooms in his house.
Speaker: And I mean, he's chipping away at it, I guess, but it's like embarrassingly long.
Speaker: I mean, he did have 306 yards, but it took him 36 passes, Russell Wilson.
Speaker: Tula, in 26 passes, so 10 less pass attempts, had three more yards than him.
Speaker: He had four touchdowns.
Speaker: Tavon Achain, I don't even know this guy.
Speaker: Tavon Achain,
Speaker: He's kind of like, I think, the speed back for Miami.
Speaker: He had 203 rushing yards, two touchdowns.
Speaker: Raheem Mostert had 82 yards and three touchdowns.
Speaker: I mean, it's like, dude, look at these numbers.
Speaker: Tyreek Hill, 157 yards and a touchdown.
Speaker: It's like video game numbers.
Speaker: You know what I mean?
Speaker: Yeah, it's like Madden numbers, and you put it on rookie mode.
Speaker: For real.
Speaker: And you play the Dolphins versus the Broncos, and it's absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker: Yeah, Bananarama.
Speaker: So that's the NFL right now.
Speaker: I'd like to give a shout-out the fact that this happened a week ago.
Speaker: My boys, the Patriots, only lost by seven points 24-17 to these Miami Dolphins who just went and ran up to score.
Speaker: They're 3-0.
Speaker: So I know you were like, no, there's no glory in a loss.
Speaker: But, I mean, we lost by five to the Eagles.
Speaker: Right?
Speaker: Super Bowl team.
Speaker: Lost by seven to the Dolphins, who are out here dropping 70 points.
Speaker: And then we just went and beat the Jets.
Speaker: It was kind of an ugly, sloppy game, but we beat the Jets 15th time in a row.
Speaker: We've beaten the Jets.
Speaker: Imagine being a Jets fan.
Speaker: 15 times lost straight to the Patriots, a division rival, and your boy Aaron Rodgers is fucking limping around.
Speaker: So, sucks to be from New York, but...
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Go Pats.
Speaker: It definitely does because the Jets and the Giants are just both awful, awful teams.
Speaker: And you know what?
Speaker: I don't care that they're awful because I don't like any New York teams.
Speaker: Well, we happen to both have a New York team in our division, so we have a special reason to not be thrilled with New York teams.
Speaker: I have the Jets, you have the Giants.
Speaker: So no offense to New York or anything, but you're just in our divisions, so we got to hate.
Speaker: You guys did all right, yeah?
Speaker: Yeah, you know, 3-0.
Speaker: Yeah, beat the Buccaneers 25-11.
Speaker: Yeah, th is is good for my fantasy team too because Jalen Hurts is my fantasy quarterback this year.
Speaker: This dude, Swift, you have at running back is pretty good.
Speaker: DeAndre Swift.
Speaker: He's solid.
Speaker: That's the only Kelsey Swift combo that I care about right now.
Speaker: I was trying to stay away from it because I know you're blowing your top.
Speaker: That's the one little quip I'm getting in.
Speaker: The only Kelsey, the real Kelsey Swift combo right there.
Speaker: I had to come in.
Speaker: I had to come in.
Speaker: But that's pretty good.
Speaker: I'll give you credit for that.
Speaker: So we'll see what happens.
Speaker: Your Eagles are 3-0.
Speaker: My Pats are 1-2.
Speaker: But, you know, we beat the Jets 15th time in a row.
Speaker: And maybe that type of season for the Pats where we're like, hey, at least we beat the Jets 15th time straight.
Speaker: Like, we're not going to do anything this year.
Speaker: But, you know, hey, look at that.
Speaker: So we'll see.
Speaker: But again, I mean, Eagles, Dolphins, and the Super Bowl, not a crazy, not a crazy thought, right?
Speaker: So...
Speaker: If we're losing by one score to two Super Bowl teams, we'll see.
Speaker: We'll see.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Anybody but the Chiefs, you know?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Well, do you know?
Speaker: So we're playing the Cowboys this week.
Speaker: And I don't know if you saw what happened to the Cowboys, but they lost to Arizona.
Speaker: I did see.
Speaker: And I laughed because I obviously do not care for the Cowboys.
Speaker: Yeah, they've been tossing salt all over the place, right?
Speaker: Talking hella smack.
Speaker: And you guys lost in Arizona.
Speaker: So now we have to go play the Cowboys.
Speaker: I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing.
Speaker: It feels like a bad thing.
Speaker: Like, okay, we just lost Arizona.
Speaker: We cannot get punked again.
Speaker: But Zeke Elliott, who we just signed from the Cowboys, he's got to know some things about the Cowboys that can help us.
Speaker: I think he's going to have a revenge game, dude.
Speaker: I think the Patriots are going to win that game.
Speaker: I think Zeke Elliott's going to be like, all right, I'm about to show you all what you're missing again.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I hope he pops off.
Speaker: I hope he does, too.
Speaker: And you give Belichick that much tape of how to beat a team, which is basically like run the ball straight at Micah Parsons, like...
Speaker: I don't know, man.
Speaker: Zeke might have a field day.
Speaker: That would be pretty fucking awesome.
Speaker: And that can be our little Super Bowl.
Speaker: Belichick probably put Zeke Elliott into an interrogation room and hooked him up to a polygraph and asked him questions about the Cowboys, knowing his history.
Speaker: Oh, you know he's a psychopath.
Speaker: Belichick works 27 hours a day out of 24 hours.
Speaker: You know what I'm saying?
Speaker: This guy wants all the secrets.
Speaker: So we'll see what happens there.
Speaker: But that would be kind of cool for us, a team that's like,
Speaker: you know, maybe hopefully you make the playoffs at this point, but you know, you're not going to the super bowl or anything.
Speaker: So let's beat the fuck out of the Cowboys.
Speaker: You have a little celebration.
Speaker: So we'll see what happens.
Speaker: I think that's everything we have on our agenda.
Speaker: Pancakes.
Speaker: What do you say?
Speaker: It is, you know, go assorted cats as we say.
Speaker: Go with Sword of Cats.
Speaker: If your team is named after a net, I don't wish you the best of luck if it comes to college football.
Speaker: And that's about it.
Speaker: I don't know what we have to break on.
Speaker: I guess I'll break for Zeke Elliott revenge game.
Speaker: Sounds good to me.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: And I'll make up mine after yours.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: All right, let's hit mine up.
Speaker: You ready?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, go for it.
Speaker: Ready?
Speaker: Go.
Speaker: Break.
Speaker: Okay, well, what the fuck was that?
Speaker: It's been a while.
Speaker: Actually, I think we hit it.
Speaker: I think we did hit it.
Speaker: But we'll see.
Speaker: I'll break on Go Birds, the real Kelsey Swift.
Speaker: So.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Kelsey Swift.
Speaker: The first.
Speaker: All right.
Speaker: Ready?
Speaker: Break.
Speaker: Break.
Speaker: Sorry, one of those has to be, right?
Speaker: It better be.
Speaker: If not, there's always editing.
Speaker: You know what I'm saying?
Speaker: We'll manipulate it if we don't get it right.
Speaker: Then you'll just never know.
Speaker: We're going to have to.
