Speaker: All right, all right, all right.

Speaker: Welcome to brand new podcast episodes.

Speaker: Fall.

Speaker: Fall season.

Speaker: And welcome to just being here, being you.

Speaker: However you found your way here, I'm so happy that you're here.

Speaker: And this week, we have a treat for you.

Speaker: It is actual transmissions from the workshop that came to life, the seed came to life on the heels of my miscarriage.

Speaker: And this workshop finally came to the world in June, in the last week of June, and it was called God-Led Business.

Speaker: So today, tomorrow, and for the next two days in this week, you are going to hear daily episodes of

Speaker: from God-Led Business, my workshop that I teach and taught on all things team leadership, all things communication, integrity in business, ethics, a code of conduct, something that I often see has been missing in this world of online business and especially within the coaching space.

Speaker: This isn't to say that it doesn't exist.

Speaker: It just means that there have been

Speaker: a lot of occasions and a lot of times where people truly didn't feel heard or seen or witnessed

Speaker: And, you know, I would like to believe that those tides have been turning and changing over the last couple of years.

Speaker: And especially now, as we head into the golden age, we're coming back to the roots.

Speaker: We're coming back to the roots of who God called us to be.

Speaker: You know, we're coming back to love, to oneness.

Speaker: We're coming back to being in faith.

Speaker: We are called to rise in our faith, in our leadership, in our relationship with God.

Speaker: the relationship that we have with ourselves, with our team, with our families, everywhere, right?

Speaker: So this is a conversation that is very near and dear to my heart.

Speaker: We had about 16 or 17 students enrolled in this workshop.

Speaker: earlier this year, but it is my hope that by bringing this onto the podcast, you too, wherever you find yourself, will receive exactly what you need to receive from these transmissions.

Speaker: And, you know, I hope this opens up a dialogue for you and your leadership and your organization.

Speaker: with your clients, with your team, with yourself, with your family members.

Speaker: And come let me know what you think of it.

Speaker: Come riff with us on Instagram in our inbox at elixirmediaco.

Speaker: But for now, enjoy.

Speaker: Hello, welcome to God-led business day three.

Speaker: And I'm so excited to come to you today, wherever you are, I would love for you to first drop into your heart space and

Speaker: Think about the initiations that have started for you from day one until now.

Speaker: Think about the shifts that have started for you.

Speaker: Think about your own journey as a service provider, as a leader.

Speaker: As an entrepreneur, I would love for you to let me know if something stands out to you.

Speaker: You can do this either by reaching out directly to me on Instagram or share it with us here in this group.

Speaker: Put it in the comments.

Speaker: Today's day three actually won't be a long session because part of it is a continuation of day two.

Speaker: So we've talked about my journey.

Speaker: We've talked about my story.

Speaker: We talked about what it means to be a revolutionary God-led leader.

Speaker: We talked about what it means to actually have your life

Speaker: ecosystem of sustainability.

Speaker: What does that look like?

Speaker: What does that feel like creatively when it comes to team, when it comes to clients, when it comes to your energy, when it comes to your capacity?

Speaker: So there's six or seven circles of that, that you want to fill up your sustainability cup.

Speaker: Today, we're going to dive a little deeper into the quotient of emotional intelligence.

Speaker: Now, EQ is something that has been heavily talked about

Speaker: in the online space.

Speaker: Okay, you name it and everyone's talking about it, doing a class on it, doing whatever.

Speaker: But what does it really mean to be emotionally intelligent?

Speaker: What does it really mean to actually put people first in your organization, to be human first?

Speaker: I say this all the time in my Instagram stories.

Speaker: I say it all the time in my writing.

Speaker: anyone that I speak with, that business is human first.

Speaker: Your brand is human.

Speaker: Your business is human.

Speaker: People do relationships and business with people.

Speaker: Even if your business is an entity, an S-Corp, an LLC, behind that entity, there is a human being.

Speaker: There are human beings that make that business possible.

Speaker: So God-led leadership, God-led business came to me as a cry of, not a cry, but almost like a revolution and a reclamation of exactly that.

Speaker: It feels like somewhere along the way that we forgot what it meant to be human, somewhere along the way that we forgot what it meant to be transparent as leaders, heart-led, soul-led, mission-driven, purpose-driven.

Speaker: Somewhere along the way, we started to pride the smoke and mirrors, the glitterati, the glamour, the Gucci lifestyle, nothing wrong with it.

Speaker: I don't really own too many designer bags or

Speaker: any at all, actually, with the exception of the gifts that I receive, because that's not what I value.

Speaker: So if that's something that you value, like good for you, go for it, no problem.

Speaker: But I think one of the epidemics that we're dealing with in this space and one of the reasons why there are so many people finding themselves jaded truthfully is because we've bought into a lie and we've been part of the system that perpetuates these lies.

Speaker: And we've also been fed these lies because we're still cultivating and fostering and enabling these toxic standards.

Speaker: Okay, and that's a very high level overview.

Speaker: I personally didn't find it right for me to come on and talk today about diversity, equity, and inclusion and all of those other moving pieces.

Speaker: I want to come in here with a proper moment.

Speaker: And so that will be part of tomorrow's discussion.

Speaker: Today's discussion, I want to really go meta and deep into emotional intelligence, into tonality,

Speaker: into vocal cadence, into your body as a barometer and a system.

Speaker: You're using your body as a metric instead of other people's success metrics.

Speaker: How does it feel easy?

Speaker: Is ease great?

Speaker: Ease gets to be a metric as a dear author slash potentially

Speaker: new client and all the things, says, I can't name names yet because nothing's fully dry.

Speaker: In my course of working with so many businesses, in my course of working in corporate, in my entire life experience, growing up the way I did, witnessing all the things that I did, I noticed that

Speaker: There were leaders who would evoke, they would get their teams to get a lot of things done.

Speaker: But those teams would operate under fear.

Speaker: Those teams would operate under reprimand.

Speaker: Those teams would operate under this mode of, holy shit, if we don't do this, we're going to be hunted down.

Speaker: Holy shit, if we show up on our own social media, our clients are going to hunt us down.

Speaker: And I found myself in those situations too.

Speaker: And then I've noticed leaders that mobilize their entire team, that motivate and inspire and lead their teams from a standpoint of genuine care, from a standpoint of truth, transparency, integrity.

Speaker: And integrity is not do as I say.

Speaker: Integrity is do as I do.

Speaker: Our body speaks that resonance before we even open our mouths.

Speaker: Have you ever been on a call with a potential client or a potential team member or a potential boss or career opportunity, wherever you find yourself professionally, and

Speaker: It's on paper, everything could look great.

Speaker: But something just quite doesn't feel right, sound right.

Speaker: Can't put your finger on it.

Speaker: But your body and your heart, some of you might feel it in your heart center.

Speaker: Some of you might feel it in your womb space or your gut, like your sacral.

Speaker: Some of you might feel it at the back of your neck or your head here.

Speaker: Some of you might feel it right here with your temples.

Speaker: And some might feel it like very fleeting.

Speaker: It's a split second thing.

Speaker: That's your body warning you.

Speaker: Hey, pay attention.

Speaker: I'm scanning that person's field and there's something not congruent.

Speaker: Yeah, there's also that type of leadership.

Speaker: I want to talk to you today about EQ as it pertains to team management.

Speaker: Now, whether you have your own team, whether you are a one-person solopreneur, like once you hire a team or like even one person, or whether you're a part of someone else's team, an ecosystem, and that person's a leader and we're all leaders, but you're part of another entrepreneur's team.

Speaker: I want you to close your eyes and answer this to yourself.

Speaker: Does this person make you feel at peace?

Speaker: Does the work that you do light you up?

Speaker: Are there moments of friction where it feels like a growth curve and opportunities for growth?

Speaker: Or are these moments of friction, moments where your inner dragon wants to come and just breathe out fire?

Speaker: Which one is it?

Speaker: Notice the responses that you're getting from your body.

Speaker: Notice what's coming up for you emotionally.

Speaker: Write it down.

Speaker: If you have a piece of paper and a pen, I can't talk today.

Speaker: Notice that.

Speaker: Emotional intelligence isn't something that has been prided

Speaker: Until recently, at least in my personal experience, it is something that people would want you to have.

Speaker: It's a good soft skill to have.

Speaker: It's a good, nice to have.

Speaker: It's great if you have it.

Speaker: And a lot of people prided and prized the hard skills, the technical skills.

Speaker: And there's a time and place for that.

Speaker: I'm of the belief that you can always learn a skill, you can always master any skill, but EQ is something innate.

Speaker: And if you don't have it innately ingrained, you can learn and you can cultivate it and you can master it as well.

Speaker: But of the two, if you're going to ask me, is IQ greater than EQ?

Speaker: I personally believe that EQ will always win.

Speaker: Because you could be the most intelligent person in the room, knowledge-wise, from a resource, knowledge, degrees, skills, certifications, from that standpoint.

Speaker: You could be the most knowledgeable person in the room.

Speaker: But if you don't know how to hold space for yourself and for others, if you don't know how to master your emotions, if you don't know how to read the room, navigate the energy of the room accordingly and adapt and be agile, you got nothing.

Speaker: In my personal experience, again, some of the biggest leaders that I've worked with were human, yes.

Speaker: But the most successful ones that have continued to stand the test of time and come out on top, that have continued to build a sustainable, profitable, prosperous, mission-led, God-led business, are the ones that weren't slaves.

Speaker: to their fleeting emotions.

Speaker: Now, this doesn't mean that you don't feel your emotions.

Speaker: You feel the full spectrum of your emotions.

Speaker: You feel the depths of it, okay?

Speaker: But it doesn't mean that you get to go and emotionally, energetically brain dump it everywhere.

Speaker: Spill it all out of you.

Speaker: So as a leader,

Speaker: EQ is almost a two-part.

Speaker: It's more than a cool coaching accessory, okay?

Speaker: There's a lot of coaches and mentors and not just coaches and mentors.

Speaker: There's a lot of leaders that will follow EQ because it's the cool thing to do.

Speaker: It's part of the whatever good leader handbook, as I like to call it.

Speaker: But they don't really practice it.

Speaker: Who are you when your team makes a mistake?

Speaker: Who are you when you make a mistake?

Speaker: Who are you when your client payments don't come through?

Speaker: Who are you when a client wants a refund?

Speaker: Who are you when a team member has not communicated at all, has pretty much ghosted on communication?

Speaker: there's massive work still pending.

Speaker: Who are you at that point?

Speaker: Do you get curious and try to probe and chase the person or do you just call it a day and you're like, fuck that, I'm done, you're fired?

Speaker: And if you go out there in the quote unquote real world in corporate, yeah, people would get fired.

Speaker: But if we are calling ourselves heart-led, God-led leaders, probably,

Speaker: shouldn't we at least give it a try?

Speaker: Shouldn't we at least give humanity a try?

Speaker: Shouldn't we at least check in on the person before we make a judgment?

Speaker: And then it's up to you if you still want to continue to release that team member or say goodbye to that client or whatever, go for it.

Speaker: But I think because business is human and we are in the business of

Speaker: people, management, truly all of us are, no matter the services that we provide, whether it's coaching, mentorship, health and wellness services, healing services, done for you services, doesn't matter what it is.

Speaker: We're working with people's energy.

Speaker: We're working with people's lives and bread and butter.

Speaker: And we're working with people's missions.

Speaker: And we are working with people, with their heart.

Speaker: So wouldn't you want to check up on them and see what's going on before you make a snap decision, before you pull the rug out and underneath from someone?

Speaker: And on the flip side, if there is something going on with you and you're unable to deliver or show up or be in full capacity, wouldn't you rather your

Speaker: clients and your team members and whoever needs to know, wouldn't you rather just share with them what's happening with you in your life?

Speaker: Bring it back to the humanity, yeah?

Speaker: Because that's called transparent revolutionary leadership.

Speaker: That's called radical kind candor.

Speaker: Gary Vee actually calls it kind candor.

Speaker: There's nothing gentle about candor.

Speaker: But we can be kind.

Speaker: And candor is radical because not everyone will do it.

Speaker: Everyone is in the business of fluff bunnies and yes ma'ams and yes sirs.

Speaker: Not everyone will just tell you like it is, but with love and kindness and compassion and emotional intelligence with your team.

Speaker: And one of the books that I've continued to read

Speaker: It's called Culture Code.

Speaker: And in that book, there is a statement, I'm probably going to butcher this, but there's a statement that says, your people are your prophet.

Speaker: It's not that exact line, but that's the gist of it.

Speaker: Your people are your prophet.

Speaker: Because this is your clients, this is your team, this is you.

Speaker: Every step of the way.

Speaker: So put your people first, the profit will follow.

Speaker: Put your people first, the prosperity will follow.

Speaker: Invest in your team.

Speaker: Invest in your skills and the skills of your team.

Speaker: Invest in cultivating a company culture that is so intimately, beautifully, intricately woven together.

Speaker: It's like a family.

Speaker: Family meets best friends.

Speaker: When you create that type of a company culture where people are valued, where you don't take them and their mastery for granted, where you don't show up with entitlement, that is what will make your team stick around with you for the long run.

Speaker: In the coaching space, and a colleague of mine, Ed, actually shared the stat.

Speaker: In the coaching space, you're lucky if you make it on a team for a year to three years.

Speaker: That's long.

Speaker: Because the turnover is massive.

Speaker: The churn rate in the coaching space is massive.

Speaker: It puts nine to fives out of business, okay?

Speaker: The amount of switches and turnovers there are.

Speaker: Part of that is, yes, because you're a business, you don't have to put up with poor treatment from anybody and you will outgrow your clients and your clients will outgrow you and that's okay.

Speaker: But a large part of it, a deeper part of it is because people are still trying to perpetuate toxic practices that we went through in corporate.

Speaker: But the only difference is you're doing that to a freelancer, to a creative, to an entrepreneur who's also the CEO of their own company.

Speaker: I don't want to drone on about this today.

Speaker: But what I want to say with emotional intelligence is emotional intelligence often comes down to a few things.

Speaker: And you can write these down.

Speaker: Conflict resolution is huge.

Speaker: How do you resolve conflict?

Speaker: How do you navigate conflict?

Speaker: How do you manage them?

Speaker: Do you avoid the conversations altogether, hoping and praying that someone's going to read your mind?

Speaker: Because we're all psychics and clairvoyants and all those things, right?

Speaker: Not knocking it, just I'm bringing my sass out over here.

Speaker: Or are you actually going to initiate?

Speaker: Are you actually going to ask for a response?

Speaker: Are you actually going to create your own invitation?

Speaker: My projector's in the room over here.

Speaker: Are you actually going to give yourself the time to reflect for a full lunar cycle?

Speaker: This is my reflectors, if anyone's a reflector in here.

Speaker: Because it always boils down to you have the power.

Speaker: God gave you the power and free will.

Speaker: So come back to that.

Speaker: How do you resolve conflicts?

Speaker: Do you avoid it or do you actively try to mitigate it or resolve it compassionately, amicably?

Speaker: How do you lead during challenging times?

Speaker: Are you snapping at your team?

Speaker: Are you snapping at your child and your partner and yourself?

Speaker: Are you berating yourself or are you pacing yourself out?

Speaker: Are you being compassionate?

Speaker: How do you listen?

Speaker: If a team member is going through something, if a team member has an issue, if there's conflict on the team and it has nothing to do with you or policies or anything, or even a client, how do you hold space?

Speaker: How do you hold space for yourself and for others?

Speaker: And lastly, who are you when all the lights are off?

Speaker: What is it that you do?

Speaker: What is your knee-jerk response, reaction, instinctual, intuitive response to anything?

Speaker: Who are you?

Speaker: Who is that person?

Speaker: Who are you when you're not taking on the projections of other people's situations and voices and everything else?

Speaker: Who is that version of you?

Speaker: Does he or she get to shine or are you being incredibly fake?

Speaker: Is it a facade?

Speaker: Who are you when the lights are off?

Speaker: Who are you when no one's watching?

Speaker: Are you the same person in every room of your house?

Speaker: I look at your life as a house.

Speaker: I look at you as a house.

Speaker: Your business is one room.

Speaker: Your relationships are one room.

Speaker: Your clients, everything's a different room.

Speaker: Are you the same person no matter what room you walk into?

Speaker: Or do you put up an act?

Speaker: Do you put up a facade?

Speaker: I want you to think about those pieces tonight.

Speaker: Because those pieces together bring about and cultivate your emotional quotient.

Speaker: alongside all the other experiences that you have as a human being, as an entrepreneur, as a leader.

Speaker: But it is those tenets which are applicable to any situation in life or business or relationships that will start to show you who you are.

Speaker: So I'm going to end day three here.

Speaker: That's like a day three podcast.

Speaker: appetizer, if you will.

Speaker: I want to talk deeper about

Speaker: Company culture and profitability, people first being equitable.

Speaker: And I want to talk about all of those things in greater detail.

Speaker: But tomorrow we have my biz bestie, the Elixir team wrangler, as I like to call her, badass, badass CEO and entrepreneur, June Chang joining me live.

Speaker: on Zoom, and we will riff together.

Speaker: So if you have any questions that have come up for you in your time as a business owner, as a service provider, as a leader, I would love for you to drop those in.

Speaker: We're still going to dive into these pieces in greater detail.

Speaker: June's going to bring her experience.

Speaker: I'm going to bring mine.

Speaker: It's going to be a beautiful party and a dance, and it's going to be fucking awesome.

Speaker: It has been an incredible

Speaker: time to do this with you together.

Speaker: And I'm so grateful, wherever you find yourself listening to this, watching this, immersing yourself in this.

Speaker: Thank you for giving me your time.

Speaker: Thank you for giving me your energy and attention and

Speaker: Thank you for allowing me to speak life into you, for allowing us to bring this to you.

Speaker: And it truly is my hope and desire that you receive whatever it is that you need to receive from it and that you can go apply it and implement it in your life.

Speaker: That is the best gift ever.

Speaker: We all evolve, but the essence of our vision, the essence of the seed that God gave you is always the same.

Speaker: And as long as you have that, as long as you lean into your true north, your core values, your core desired feelings, as long as you can lean into that, no matter the ebbs and flows of business, no matter which direction you get pulled from, you are so rooted and anchored and you will always find your way home back to yourself, back to your soul, back to God, because God will always lead your way, guide your way, guide your movement.

Speaker: I love you so much.

Speaker: It has been an honor to be here.

Speaker: Thank you.
