Speaker: hello everyone Welcome back to another episode of the Certified Jarvis Podcast. I am. Steven Jarvis. Um, Alyssa is still recovering from When she got back last... Saturday, Sunday. from the hospital. um She may be back next week. She may take a little bit longer.

Speaker: Who knows? but we are doing another certified or not certified. episode. Which... action movies make the cut. So. like we did last week with horror movie sequels.

Speaker: Today. we are focusing just on action movies. and we decide if it's certified. Can we talk about why we think it's certified? Or if it's not certified, and then we.

Speaker: do the same thing pretty self -explanatory also thank you so very much for all the love and support that you all show to this podcast. We can... Make the show the show happen without the love and support that you all show us and we appreciate it very very much Also, we'd like to shout out.

Speaker: Mark and Brian from Talking Shit. They're on a hiatus. um They were talking about coming back on September 3rd, but. Something recently has happened in Brian's family. And we just want Brian and Mark. to know that We here at the Certified Jarvis Podcast.

Speaker: are You are both in our thoughts and prayers. And if you ever need to talk. You know where to find us. We will always be there to listen. We love you guys.

Speaker: and we hope to see you back soon. So. Which action movies make the cut? My very first. action movie that I want to say is certified. in my eyes.

Speaker: is Lethal Weapon 1. And I'll tell you why. The dynamic it builds. Between. Riggs and Murtaugh. And. also the dynamic tension it builds.

Speaker: And the fact that rigs. is getting over the death of his wife. And is very suicidal. He doesn't care if he lives or dies.

Speaker: And. It takes Murtaugh. to show him like, hey, you know what? Life's worth living. Um. We're in this together. And you get that buddy cop dynamic. Now, there had been buddy cop movies before Lethal Weapon, and there's been buddy cop movies after Lethal Weapon. well after Lethal Weapon But Lisa Weapon really...

Speaker: developed the genre. And that. you really felt That. You felt the pain that Riggs felt. losing his wife. But at the same time, you you felt... at the very lee at the very least, Riggs would snap out of it. And he does.

Speaker: eventually in the end of the movie. telling people hey you know i'm not crazy i'm not trying to you know, draw a cycle pension. It's just that. He. Loved his wife very much and misses her.

Speaker: And when he meets Murtaugh. He's kind of in that. You know, I really don't want to live anymore. but I'm just... Living because I'm doing the job.

Speaker: And Murtaugh comes to understand that, but at the same time, like... At first, he doesn't trust Riggs. He thinks Riggs is a loose cannon. He thinks Riggs is going to get him killed.

Speaker: And when... Murtaugh's daughter is kidnapped. Then rig says we gotta do it my way But you got to trust me.

Speaker: And when Murtaugh finally trusts him, they later build that bond. of Friends. which then becomes family. And then in the sequel. you you have that dynamic of...

Speaker: Riggs is just another part of the Murtaugh family. He. is able to Stay there. He's able to. Take care of the kids he's able to you know cook with the white with Murtaugh's wife.

Speaker: um The only thing I didn't like what they tried to do with the second movie. is they tried to kill Riggs off. Which, thank God. The test audiences hated that.

Speaker: Because, honestly... I... I don't know how you would have went. with lethal weapon three and four. Although rumors were. that if they if the fans would have enjoyed Riggs being killed at the end of the second movie that the third movie was going to have Murtaugh.

Speaker: Be an alcoholic. And. you know missing Riggs, wishing that it would have been him instead of Riggs. And that... um He pretty much was...

Speaker: Going to. literally take on that role of while I'm suicidal. I don't want to live anymore. And. I don't care if people notice that or not.

Speaker: um and then lethal weapon four was gonna have different characters which by that point i was like why if you're gonna get rid of your two main characters why why do even more so Lethal Weapon 1 is my first certified movie.

Speaker: My first not certified movie. Has to be. Die hard. Live free or die hard. And I'll tell you why.

Speaker: You came off. the my monumental success of the very first one. The second one... kind of was as good as the original. But then you come with.

Speaker: die hard with a vengeance. you pit. Yeah. um McClain against. The brother. of Hans Gruber.

Speaker: And. Simon is looking for revenge against McClain for killing. his brother Hans. well McLean's not alone.

Speaker: that they were very smart in the casting of Zeus. And that was Samuel L. Jackson. And Samuel Jackson just brings in that tough. Guy.

Speaker: tough badass mother doesn't give a fuck motherfucker character. And that's why I love. die hard or die hard with the vengeance but now with live free or die hard it was kind of like okay mclean's older he doesn't have a relationship with his kids.

Speaker: him and Holly have well well well been divorced And. Um... It's all about the cyber age in this one. Which, to me...

Speaker: uh I love Bruce Willis. It's sad to see what he's going through. Bye. Like dude, you should have stopped with the third one. Like you didn't need to make any more diehards after that.

Speaker: and each one after the third one. just progressively got worse. Like, yeah, you had Bruce Willis in there as John McClane. You're literally just pimping out the name. And that's what I think.

Speaker: kind of hurt live free or die hard. Because I think a lot of the fans kind of realized that, you know what, this is way more over the top than what the other ones were. And it just wasn't realistic.

Speaker: So when you had that. Like... How in the hell? Would you be able to come back from that? And.

Speaker: That's why I think live free or die hard. is the very first non -certified Action movie.

Speaker: Now going back to another certified one. I gotta go with... 48 hours. And yeah, I know, it... It's not the best Nick Nolte movie. It's not the best Eddie Murphy movie.

Speaker: Um... But... To have them two in a movie together where one's an ex -con and the other one's a cop who breaks him out. on 48 hours.

Speaker: to help him solve a case. Um, Nick Nolte in this movie is pure comedy gold. um Plays that really. shit heel of a cop.

Speaker: that is not going to take any prisoners and is going to see that the job gets done his way Whereas Eddie Murphy in this, again.

Speaker: One of the funniest comedians out there. just comes off as You really just want to punch him in the face. Because he's such a smartass.

Speaker: He is literally... everything that he would later bring into the Beverly Hills Cop series. And.

Speaker: Having James or Marr. in there As. the lead bad guy. was pretty badass. as gains. um But at the same time, like. annie murphy doing everything he can to just get away from nick nolte is pretty funny um And then Nick Nolte just getting pissed off at Eddie Murphy's.

Speaker: you know, just bullshitting his way through the night. Just... Comedy gold. Like who would have ever thought that Nick Nolte could have pulled that off?

Speaker: but you know him being a very serious actor and a very serious character in the movie

Speaker: is pretty funny as well. And so. when They do first meet. He literally tells Eddie Murphy's character. He's like. I'll kick your ass if you...

Speaker: fuck up this night. And yet if gains gets away. then you'll be sorry you ever met me. Eddie Murphy would later turn around. On.

Speaker: Nick Nolte's character in the movie. but At the very least. like you you It sets the tone for. How those two. aren't Gonna get along.

Speaker: And so... What happens? is they later become friends. and they build that dynamic together. um So.

Speaker: 48 hours, the first one at least. is on the certified list for me.

Speaker: Not certified list. would be the sequel. Another 48 hours. because it's just it feels like it was forced. Like, you know, they've seen what had happened with Lethal Weapon and they wanted to make it into another thing.

Speaker: And to me. Eddie Murphy. He's still funny, but the story lacks. And that's why that's ah I'll leave it at that. Um...

Speaker: Another certified movie. And I'll even do two. RoboCop 1. And RoboCop 2. And I'll tell you why. for both. So with RoboCop 1, you're introduced to Alex Murphy, played by the Great.

Speaker: Peter Weller. And. With that... Peter Weller does such a great job as Alex Murphy slash Robocop.

Speaker: And. It's actually believable. Now granted, Peter Weller. hated the role. He he. He's even said this. at a at a Sit down Q and &A that he did. He hasn't seen the movie.

Speaker: and years. I think he said he watched it once and that was it. Which is sad because this movie was so 80s driven. And so good.

Speaker: From the guy that shows up in the infomercials saying, I'll buy that for a dollar. Um, to... The bad guys. being led by Kurtwood Smith, who...

Speaker: is such a good bad guy. as Clarence Boniger. um And you also have Nancy Allen as... uh louis Who is a badass. female cop in the movie.

Speaker: um The death scene of Murphy. is so brutal but at the same time like once he's introduced as robocop You really feel for. Murphy. because he he still believes that he's a police officer And yet.

Speaker: OCP who owns him. the RoboCop initiative is literally telling them like, no. We literally kept your face. That's it. Like none of you is.

Speaker: is... human. And. That later. goes into the sequel too. Where Murphy kind of feels like he is human still.

Speaker: And he has that human element. Like he wants to get in touch with his wife. He wants to get back in touch with his child, with his son. And. ocp always tells them like dude you're a cyborg like Me.

Speaker: What can you offer? your ex -wife and your son. And in the second movie, he goes after Kane. who is played by the late, great Tom Noonan.

Speaker: And. He plays another great villain in this. Like I would say his best villain role. is Manhunter. But... He does really good in this movie too as Kane.

Speaker: And. In Robocop 2, Robocop is trying to stop the sale of Nuke. but um in that robocop 2 he is deconstructed by kane's minions and all that which is it I understand.

Speaker: But at the same time, like. Then they reprogram them um to be nice and all that shit. And it's just, it's such garbage storyline telling at that or writing at that point.

Speaker: To the point where it's like. You literally. are glad when he shocks himself. to get all that shit out of his head. Because, like... That... ocp like literally changes his prime directives And... It just...

Speaker: ah Like one scene. He literally pulls his gun and shoots a cigarette out of a guy's mouth. or he sees kids playing around a fire hydrant. and he literally shuts it off Or when... I. When I. Little League coach and the team are robbing a... like video store.

Speaker: electronic store. He literally. Gives Miranda rights. to a dead guy.

Speaker: And Lewis is like, you're giving Miranda to a dead guy. Or to a corpse. And he's like. L. And just goes like that. just It's so fucking stupid, man.

Speaker: Like. Some of this writing in this is just like, really? But like. the climactic scene between RoboCop and the new. ed 209 which is just canes you know.

Speaker: um

Speaker: Mind. Or brain. implanted in the 209 because they want to recreate RoboCop. And when. Kane in the ED 209 and RoboCop. have their final fight.

Speaker: near the end. It's a badass fight. Like it really is. And. Um... It makes.

Speaker: lo Louis mad at the end of the movie because OCP again gets away with it. So that's why RoboCop 1 and 2 are... part of my certified list.

Speaker: Now... A not certified RoboCop movie is RoboCop 3. Because Peter Weller doesn't come back. Lewis.

Speaker: played by Nancy Allen, she comes back. But I think it's Robert. Burke. who plays Murphy slash RoboCop in the third movie.

Speaker: and of course you got like ninjas in there and just makes no fucking sense. And then lo Louis, she dies early on in the movie because she gets killed in a shootout.

Speaker: with OCP's new Bye. hired. Assassin Squad or whatever. And it just, it the movie and the writing for RoboCop 3 made no fucking sense.

Speaker: And we're going to leave it at that. Because, I mean, there's only so many times you can see RoboCop flying in the movie before you just turn it off. um Another non -certified.

Speaker: Action movie. And I really hate that I say this. but I do have to go with um

Speaker: God. If I can just remember it. Punisher Warzone I think that one wasn't as good as the Thomas Jane one. And I am very biased.

Speaker: but I think that. The Dolph Lundgren. Punisher movie was way better than Warzone. And I know I'm going to get shit on for that. Oh my god, it's an Alyssa alert.

Speaker: She's back everyone

Speaker: But, you know... um Okay. Woman of few words. um I just, I didn't like Warzone. I felt like this story had already been told.

Speaker: With Thomas Jane's Punisher. Granted, now if they wanted to make a sequel, why didn't you just try and get Thomas Jane back? like I mean... it, it, it would have been so much better.

Speaker: with Thomas Jane back. And.

Speaker: It just it felt like it was over more over the top. In the Punisher Warzone movie. than it needed to be. and And that's why it's ah on the non -certified post. Now.

Speaker: two Punisher movies that are on the certified list. One. The Thomas Jane one. For obvious reasons. Because. He literally.

Speaker: Does. the character Justice. And also... The Dolph Lundgren one. And I know I'll get hate for the Dolph Lundgren one. because a lot of people are like well the skull doesn't show up on his shirt and all that You got to realize.

Speaker: Back in those days, like... attention to detail to shit like that. Was never a thing Back in those days And that's what I think a lot of people have a problem with that. And it's it's it's a movie of its time.

Speaker: And Dolph Lundgren does really good as Frank Castle and the Punisher.

Speaker: Now you see Dolph Lundgren butt which you know as Interesting in itself. But... I think both of them both the Dolph Lundgren and Thomas Jane movie were very, very well made.

Speaker: Um, I think Thomas... Thomas Jane. Did a more.

Speaker: grounded one. And that's what I would say about the Dolph Lundgren too. Because... It was grounded. Granted, the Thomas Jane one got away with more shit because they added in the element of what happened.

Speaker: to him. to become the Punisher. where in the Dolph Lundgren one, He's already the Punisher. you You don't get to see his family attacked.

Speaker: You don't get to see his wife and. children killed. And I think that's what kind of. Kills that one for me. because you You want to see it. Why?

Speaker: He became. The Punisher. And at the same time, it's... Literally. The Dolph Lundgren one was literally just a movie that was being made.

Speaker: That's all it was. And that's not Dolph Lundgren's fault. Like he went into the role. Yeah. stacked like he was jacked he was stacked and he he did a really good job It's just, I think, reason why most people, including myself.

Speaker: like the Thomas Jane one a little bit more is because they invested more in the character. And you had someone that knew. the source material. And cared. Um...

Speaker: And plus you had.

Speaker: I'm sure Stan Lee. was like, we can't allow this to be another. Dolph Lundgren one. We need him to have the skull. We need him to.

Speaker: have a reason to do this. and we need to see it. So and of course. John Travolta is a bad guy. You know, they could have went with so many different people. but I like that they went with him.

Speaker: Um, It was very very different. But at the same time, it worked. and I wish we would have gotten a Thomas Jane sequel.

Speaker: Now hopefully... With Jon Bernthal. being the Punisher. Hopefully we get a feature film with him in it. And i'm not I'm not talking about the new Spider -Man movie where he's got... Probably a cameo in it.

Speaker: But I'm talking. an actual Punisher movie. Because... John Bernthal, whether people like him or not, fuck off. Jon Bernthal has done a great job as Frank Castle and the Punisher.

Speaker: And. I can't wait to see what more he can do with that character. if they allow him that. So. That is my... certified Two certified Punisher movies and one not certified Punisher movie.

Speaker: Another. Not certified action movie. And this one kind of hurts too. um I have to go with...

Speaker: The Expendables 3. I... I love the first two. but I felt like the third one just missed. And granted again, it was the same shit.

Speaker: And, you know, um

Speaker: With. I think Mel Gibson was the villain in the the third one. Um... I just, I never see him as a villain. You know, and that's probably why I didn't like. The third one.

Speaker: The second one was... Badass. like that was a They should have stopped after the second one. They should have stopped after the first one. But the second one with Chuck Norris in it.

Speaker: And talking about. I heard you got bit by a rattlesnake or a cobra. And he's like, yeah, I did. And after six agonizing days, that route the snake died. like chuck norris god rest his soul is such a great actor.

Speaker: and And I do have a lot of his movies on my certified list. Um, But yeah, Expendables 3 was just... garbage, in my opinion. And again. This is just my opinion, everyone.

Speaker: Now a certified movie. And I really. want to pay homage to this actor. Because he's not. No longer with us. Hasn't been.

Speaker: with us since 93. But Brandon Lee. The Crow. And I'll tell you why. I will probably spend a lot of time talking about why.

Speaker: It's a certified movie for me.

Speaker: I think. Had Brandon Lee not... had. his accident where he was killed. This movie. would have shot him.

Speaker: up through the zenith for an actor. And. It. It was a role that.

Speaker: It was a role that really... really solidified him. as that A -list guy. You know, yeah, he was a great actor, but the crow literally raised that.

Speaker: stock in him. Like. I, oh my god, if... He doesn't die in making that movie. Could you imagine the movies he would have made? like Who's to say Keanu Reeves gets...

Speaker: The Matrix or jean John Wick series. Unless they go to Brandon. You know um Oh. he could have done.

Speaker: And I think that's why the crow. Is. a Brandon Lee quintessential movie. Because if you think about it, he showed so much range. like he he showed that he wasn't just a martial arts action star.

Speaker: He could have been in drama movies. He could have been in romance movies. Like he showed. so much. In that movie as Eric Draven. And that's why it saddens me.

Speaker: That. They tried to remake it. Again. And it just it didn't work. Because as soon as it came out, what was everyone talking about?

Speaker: They're bringing up the past. And... To this day, I still feel so sorry for one is Widow.

Speaker: Eliza. Um. his sister, Shannon, and his mom, Lee. Linda Lee Caldwell. you know, um anytime something like ah shooting like what happened with Rust.

Speaker: Um. happens where it kills someone on set. Like. third they're forever linked to it because of what happened to Brandon. And Brandon Lee does such a good job in the crow.

Speaker: Like. He. took this role. and really made it his. And that's why none of the other sequels and reboot and TV show worked. Because. of Brandon.

Speaker: And.

Speaker: You know, I really do think. that

Speaker: The world of cinema would have been so much a better place if he was still here You know, yeah, he'd be a dad. Yeah, he'd be a husband. but I still think he would have done a lot of great movies.

Speaker: And.

Speaker: When he did the crow. It was just. Like there's been times where I can watch a movie And there's been times where I can't. Because it's just it's that powerful of a movie and a powerful performance. That it's almost like.

Speaker: You feel like you're cheating. because of how great it was and how it was taken away. Um...

Speaker: And. I really do think. That. had Brandon not. passed away. making the or tra been tragically killed making this movie.

Speaker: The sequels, like that there was rumors that. in the sequels. he would still be the crow. but it would be passing it on to a new person. Like a new crow. each movie and he would just be like the mentor of it And, like, i I see people making fan movies where they call themselves Eric Draven. And, you know, I understand it. you know they're they were Like me, they love the movie.

Speaker: But it's like... You're not. You're not doing anything different. then whatever anyone else in Hollywood has tried.

Speaker: Like, you're not Brandon Lee, you'll never be Brandon Lee. And that's why. the remake socked. Because. They tried to be different, but at the same time it was the same thing.

Speaker: Like if you want a curl movie to work Stop calling the main character dr Eric Draven.

Speaker: Like. There was many other crows. You don't need to just focus on Eric Draven. And that's why another Brandon Lee. movie.

Speaker: Showdown in Little Tokyo.

Speaker: Is.

Speaker: such a great movie him and Dolph Lundgren in that movie are so amazing And then you got Tia Carr. who played Um...

Speaker: Cassandra in Wayne's World 1 and 2. And she was also. the main villain i think in true lies with jamie lee curtis and arnold um But. in.

Speaker: big showdown in little tokyo You. You get.

Speaker: A different brand. Like you get a Brandon Lee that. Is. Comic relief. and And that's what I liked about that movie was because it was another buddy cop movie.

Speaker: But it was so much more than that. It was like also a comedy buddy cop movie, just like we had seen before. But it had. Dolph Lundgren and a martial artist. in And. I really think they should have made more movies.

Speaker: Um... It, it. Literally.

Speaker: was... Really good. And. having the guy who played Would later play Shang Tsung. In Mortal Kombat. As the bad guy was badass.

Speaker: Like. Great casting. Um, The one thing that I think people get hang hung up on is... one part of the movie, Brandon Lee. literally says hey kenner you have the biggest dick on a dude i've ever seen And like, I've seen podcasts where they like shit on Brandon for saying that. And it's like, Dude.

Speaker: it was probably in the script And... What are you going to do? You're going to say, no, I'm not going to say that. like You know, I get I. I don't get why people would hate a movie because of that.

Speaker: It's literally a throwaway sequence of the movie. When he says it. I mean, granted it's a badass scene. But... it's literally him and Kenner talking.

Speaker: And people are mad and hate the movie because of it. Like, fuck off. Um. Another great Brandon Lee movie. is

Speaker: Rapid fire. Him and Powers Booth in that movie are so fucking legit. And and that's what makes that movie good, too. And there was actually supposed to be a sequel.

Speaker: That Brandon was in talks with. after filming the crow. but because Brandon passed away during the making of The Crow, he couldn't make a second. um rapid fire movie And you know I would be remiss not to add a few Bruce Lee movies to this.

Speaker: Witch. We'll do that now. um So for more certified. movies. I got to go Bruce Lee. And I will tell you which ones. um So I'm going off the American titles.

Speaker: So sorry, but. Fists of Fury, which was the big boss. the Chinese connection, which was Think Fist of Fury. Um.

Speaker: way of the dragon which in america was called enter the dragon Or no. Return of the Dragon, I think it was, wasn't it? Um... And.

Speaker: The reason why I love... The third one. is because it had Chuck Norris. And Chuck Norris was at the height of his. Martial arts. professional career in that movie he was world champ And they have the fight in the Roman Coliseum.

Speaker: Which is so badass. To the point where... i I think a lot of people thought Chuck Norris was going to win. But yeah, it's a funny antidote when he did interviews for that movie. He literally said, oh yeah, Bruce Lee wanted to kill the world champ.

Speaker: And. I think with... Another one that I have to go with, which is a great Bruce Lee movie, is Enter the Dragon, his final one.

Speaker: Um... It's sad that he never got to see. how big of a success he was. Like I'm sure he knew. But I mean, at the same time, like. He literally transcended.

Speaker: The Hong Kong. I'm Mary. American. martial arts. in that time. in the 70s. And you know... Again.

Speaker: I think we missed out on so many great opportunities that him and Brandon could have had in movies together. which Oh my god, could you imagine? if Bruce and Brandon would have been in a movie together.

Speaker: Like, that would have been badass. Um.

Speaker: And with Enter the Dragon, like, Bruce Lee is at his greatest. It's sad that you know he was also working on another film called the Game of Death. which He only filmed the ending.

Speaker: of Game of Death. he The movie that we got of Game of Death. Like, you could tell which is his version and which is... the one that they created just so that they could release the movie And it it doesn't do what he filmed justice. It really doesn't.

Speaker: It's such a stupid thing. And literally people will watch that movie. See? Bruce Lee's character. Bruce Lee's character gets shot.

Speaker: And then come to the conclusion of, oh, they were they were predicting Brandon. in that movie Like. That's how stupid. some people can be when they see movies.

Speaker: and And it harms movies because people nowadays, they got to have everything politicized for their for their own and entitlement. Or it's got to be so fucking stupid.

Speaker: that it literally ruins the movie. And. I honestly don't think. of some of these movies could be made today because people would be like oh bruce lee was so violent oh brandon lee was so violent like

Speaker: It's so dumb. Really is. And. with enter the dragon what makes it such a great certified movie in my opinion was because Bruce Lee.

Speaker: He knew this was his big shot to break into America. Like he had did it as Kato. But this was his first shot at being a leading man. in an American movie.

Speaker: And that never happened. because he would later die. And his legend grew more. in death and in life. Um.

Speaker: And the fight scene. that him and John Saxon have with most of Han's Um.

Speaker: Soldiers. is badass. Like... one of the greatest scenes in that movie. Um...

Speaker: Now... to some Chuck Norris movies. So these are on the certified list of Chuck Norris movies. Lone Wolf McQuaid. Coda silence. the missing in action movies of course delta force the first one um

Speaker: God what other ones are there?

Speaker: AHHHHH! Oh, this is gonna bore. Bother me. Lone dwarf. Like us her Code of silence. Invasion USA.

Speaker: I love Invasion USA. Like that one and lone wolf for me are like his two. My favorite. Um, And I'll go into more detail with lone wolf.

Speaker: Granted... I hated. that they had David Carradine. as like supposedly Chuck Norris' is equal, like... No he wasn't. ah David Carradine barely knew shit about martial arts.

Speaker: Um... Eh. And when they're. When they... Like you as a Hollywood producer, go in there and be like, OK, we need someone that is Chuck Norris's equal.

Speaker: And you go with David fucking Carradine. like the only reason why he was considered a martial artist was because of Kung Fu. which they stole from Bruce Lee.

Speaker: Um, Like, yeah. The... day. They gave him a great character. Don't get me wrong. Like, Rowley is a badass villain. It's just, yeah, like no.

Speaker: I, I... Chuck Norris had to be laughing when they're like really. David's going to be. considered my equal like the dudes on a fucking TV show.

Speaker: They took from Bruce that they stole from Bruce Lee and the guy knows nothing about it. martial arts. And we get some really badass scenes in Lone Wolf McQuaid. fight scene of course between him and David Carradine.

Speaker: um The scene where they bury. Lone Wolf and his um I think it's like a blazer. Dodge.

Speaker: Something. And he literally. comes out of the hole.

Speaker: it's like so cool how that sequence is prepared because he's he's he knows he's gonna die so he's got to get out of there so he puts on his superchargers turbocharger in the vehicle And.

Speaker: just gets out of there. And kills the two bad guys. And... Later on, they travel to go save his daughter. And.

Speaker: You know Chuck Norris is another great one that

Speaker: he's now gone but still like he was a great action hero Um... And with Invasion USA. You had. More.

Speaker: of what he was creating in the martial arts world which was the gung fu period Um, And granted, later, um... God, I'm trying to figure out what his name is. Um.

Speaker: He was a director that would later do uh coin the phrase gung fu Or. Gun Fu. Whereas just guns... kung fu movies with guns galore in it.

Speaker: And. Um...

Speaker: it It literally. Oh. John Woo. Jamu. Um. was that director. And. Gung Fu. as he called it.

Speaker: Was like. so ahead of its time. but you know like When Chuck Norris does it. Like, I'm sorry to say, but Invasion USA, like...

Speaker: They literally I think it's Russians that attacked. the United States. And. He literally. single -handedly takes him out all by himself.

Speaker: And. The movie would later get a sequel, but with Michael Dudenkopf. as the Matt Hunter character. Which is another great movie, but... It's not as good as the first one. Invasion USA was One of Chuck Norris's best movies, hands down.

Speaker: Um... when he goes in the mall Hup! and takes Maulon or onees. Telling raw stuff like. I'm gonna kill you. and all that. like It's badass cinema at its. finest.

Speaker: Um... And... Another great Chuck Norris movie. Is. Army of One. Or force of one.

Speaker: like that was that one's up there with the octagon for me because It's young Chuck Norris. And... In. Force of One, he's literally helping the police figure out who's doing all these murders of cops.

Speaker: And. when he later finds out who it was. It's just Chuck Norris at his best. A movie that I missed? Four. the horror one, and I'll kind of do a little bit on this.

Speaker: Silent rage.

Speaker: And people are going to hate me the for this, but... It was kind of a ripoff of Halloween. Like. The character was kind of Michael Myers, and his character was kind of Dr. Loomis, but instead of... Being a doctor, he was a sheriff.

Speaker: and I wish we would have got more sequels, but Chuck Norris just didn't want to do it. Another. silent rage and i kind of know why Because. it was the only time where he didn't clearly win.

Speaker: Even though you see him throw. The bad guy in, uh... Well... The bad guy. still lives in the end. And so. I think that's why he didn't want to do it again, because it made him and probably his mind look weak.

Speaker: But, I mean, could you imagine? If they would have done more of those Silent Rage movies, like that would have been badass. Um,

Speaker: Jean -Claude Van Damme had some great movies. a Hard target.

Speaker: Time cop. Trying to fucking remember them all. Um,

Speaker: Hard target. Time cop. Sudden death. street fire the movie i'll i'll throw that one up there it was pretty good Um...

Speaker: And he did some other great ones. There too. Jeff Speakman. Another great one. he He gets... Kind of. Not much notoriety. in the 90s as like jean -claude brandon brandon for a little time um Steven fucking Seagal.

Speaker: And. um Jackie Chan. Jackie, I love Jackie Chan. I will not talk shit about Jackie Chan. I will, however, talk shit about Steven Scull. Because...

Speaker: Some of his movies were really good, and then... Nowadays, he's just he's so full of himself and it's so stupid. Um, But. A not certified movie.

Speaker: And it's a Steven Seagal one. Um... And that's. I think on dangerous ground, I think it's called. It's literally him being an environmental person And just...

Speaker: Like... It's shit. That's all I can say about it. Um... another non -certified one And I do kind of hate this because I think.

Speaker: Okay. Wasn't. Jackie Chans. Thought. And that's when they tried to make him into Bruce Lee. or a Bruce Lee clone. Um... Jackie Chan was never meant to be.

Speaker: a serious martial arts Actor. Bye. he does his best stuff when it's comedy martial arts. and And that's not saying that he's not a legit martial arts guy. He is.

Speaker: It's just. he made a better style with adding comedy into it. And. I really liked... um the Rush Hour movies.

Speaker: But I also liked. um some of the movies he did. over in China before he became synonymous with American cinema here. Um...

Speaker: You had Rumble in the Bronx. And of course his blooper reels at the end like are so badass. um Supercop. I think is the name of it.

Speaker: um was a great series. And. I think Chuck. or Chuck. nors Jackie Chan really hit his stride when he did like Rush Hour.

Speaker: The... Shanghai movies. And when he did a lot of the older ones too. so

Speaker: Sorry guys. Ah, now I gotta get to uncertified movies. Um...

Speaker: Shit. Uncertified action movies. Which ones do I want to go with?

Speaker: Rocky V. I'll go with Rocky V. I hated Rocky V. Coming off Rocky IV, where like he literally... beat the shit out of a steroided Russian character.

Speaker: and Ivan Drago to where five he's got. brain damage and I think he's got Parkinson's or Alzheimer's. Um...

Speaker: Bye. At the same time, like, they took so many great things from the Rocky series, tried to make it work with this in Rocky V, and they just, it sucked. It kind of was like they were building up to...

Speaker: Rocky Jr. Taking on the mantle, but then. Sylvester Stallone was like, no, hey, it's still a Rocky movie. Um... Another Sylvester Stallone movie. And I really.

Speaker: but And. Not certified. another Sylvester Stallone movie, and that is...

Speaker: Over the top. I never got... I never got into the movie I thought it was stupid. and And granted, he did a lot of great certified Jarvis. or certified movies that I love. Cobra.

Speaker: the rocky one through four um Rambo.

Speaker: oh Another Chuck Norris one I forgot was Breaker Breaker. Damn it. But, um... i just I think Sylvester Stallone in... Over the top.

Speaker: It literally is over the top. Like. It was such a... Bullshit movie. And like. I get it. They wanted to make a movie about arm wrestling. and all that shit, but it just it didn't work.

Speaker: for me. Whereas like Cobra did. because that's Stallone. Or like Rambo because... Rambo's a badass. now two Now, Tango and Cash.

Speaker: That's a certified Jarvis movie. love that movie. Love it. One of my favorite Kurt Russell. And... Stallone movies. I wish they would have made more.

Speaker: But they didn't. A Kurt Russell movie that I didn't like. And that's Escape from L .A. I felt like they did such a great job with Escape from New York.

Speaker: that when they made a sequel it's like oh hey it's gonna be just like Escape from New York. It wasn't. It was shit. And. I do like that Kurt Russell makes the movie better.

Speaker: And I think John Carpenter tried his best. But it just. It, uh... It did work very well. And...

Speaker: Yeah. That's. That's pretty much what happened with that movie. So. Sorry, guys. I know I'm kind of on my element with this. I really wished Alyssa would have been back because i me and her could have bounced off each other.

Speaker: But you know what? I think we're gonna call it there. Join us next week and I will. probably do another certified or not certified movie or even show or video game. one um That or else I'll try and get a guest on the show.

Speaker: Um, So next week. Hopefully Alyssa will be back. If not, I'll do it again But, um... We love you all. Thank you all for the... the love and support that you all show to us and we will see you all Next time.
