Transcript

JohhnyCAGE: Hello, you are listening to the all new anti-famboy podcast for the week of June 8th, 2026. It's not really that impressive a date. Couldn't really think of anything fun or cute to say, except that I just, I just watched a lot of commercials this week. You sat there, just click, click, click.

JohhnyCAGE: I said, hey, hon, I can't do things. I got to go watch these trailers. oh Oh, you had a hard day at work. That's cool. Can you shut the fuck up real quick so I can watch state of play? Click. My name's Devin Kopech.

JohhnyCAGE: With me is Steve O'Tieri.

Steve-O: It's my half birthday today. So there's something for you.

JohhnyCAGE: I believe the Europeans call it the name day.

Steve-O: Oh.

JohhnyCAGE: you say your name day. ah

Steve-O: It's my name day. It's a Steve.

JohhnyCAGE: I was. Yeah, I was ah maybe Eastern Europeans. My arm Jenny's sister in law is a Hungarian.

Steve-O: Okay. Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: And we were talking about it was her brother's birthday over the weekend and they were like, oh, but but we you know, we we're hanging out and we we're talking about whose birthday was next. And I was like, oh, you know, it's me.

Steve-O: o

JohhnyCAGE: And she's like, no. I'm July first I was like, oh, that's your birthday. She's like, it's my name day. And then didn't give any additional information. And I just said, hey, maybe that's just what they call their birthday.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm not going to call her out on it. And then I found out later that no, it's just the halfway point because her birthday is like the same week as Jenny's birthday is sometime February.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: So i was like, oh, what the what the hell?

Steve-O: You can't do that. You can't do that.

JohhnyCAGE: Can't do that, dude.

Steve-O: That's like something a child, I will give that to a 10 year old maybe, but not a full grown adult.

JohhnyCAGE: I was like,

JohhnyCAGE: But I was like, you can't like act like that's it.

Steve-O: No.

JohhnyCAGE: like Listen, you can have an AIM day. By all means, have an AIM day. don't you know Don't act like it supersedes my actual birthday.

Steve-O: Right. And the thing is people have to remind me it's my half birthday. Like my mom reminded me today and I went, Oh, right. Okay. Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: We're like, what?

Steve-O: That doesn't mean anything really, but i mean, who can honestly though, who cares?

JohhnyCAGE: Who cares? like Not who cares, but like who can yeah gives a hoot?

Steve-O: Who cares?

JohhnyCAGE: I don't.

Steve-O: Like we don't celebrate like the halfway point to Christmas.

JohhnyCAGE: We do not.

Steve-O: I mean, some, i there's there's people who do like the Joel Christmas in July sales, but also no thanks.

JohhnyCAGE: The only day I celebrate Prime Day.

Steve-O: Wow.

JohhnyCAGE: give me that Give me that Prime money.

Steve-O: I feel like prime day is like every month now

JohhnyCAGE: Maybe. I don't know. It's kind of weird.

Steve-O: Give me that money.

JohhnyCAGE: I like logged into my Prime like Amazon for the first time in a minute. it's it's like it's just very obvious when I'm doing well and when I'm not doing well, I'm like, Oh, I haven't ah bought anything in forever, like which makes sense, obviously.

JohhnyCAGE: But, uh, you know, but, uh, listen with us, not with us, notably, uh, John Suarez still on baby duty. Chris Galanti still on baby duty.

Steve-O: Baby dude.

JohhnyCAGE: Um,

Steve-O: Yes, they have they are doing a two men and a baby situation.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, Sam's like, I need a week off. She needs some me time. And John's like, how am I going to take care this baby? And then Chris said, I'll help.

JohhnyCAGE: So they're they're figuring out how to how to put a diaper on a baby, even though john this is John's second child.

Steve-O: Don't worry. I'm here for you.

Steve-O: Yeah, but he never learned because he was playing Destiny.

JohhnyCAGE: You got it. You got it, right? You got it, right, babe?

Steve-O: Sorry, babe, I can't. I'm in the middle of a raid.

JohhnyCAGE: I got the rate. I'm in the middle of this rate.

Steve-O: Oh, I got the raid.

JohhnyCAGE: I can't fucking pause it. What do you mean?

Steve-O: And now that Destiny is over, Destiny is done. He's got no excuses.

JohhnyCAGE: He did say he was going to go on for one last ride.

Steve-O: One last hurrah.

JohhnyCAGE: And I was like, don't do it. You'll get stuck in. you know That's like saying like, ah can I got to go to jail for all this heroin I did. Let me do one more batch of heroin.

Steve-O: Just one last hurrah.

JohhnyCAGE: You know, that's actually... You know, I've mentioned this before, but there's a very, very funny video of it was an episode of hoarders.

JohhnyCAGE: And this woman, it's like the worst. It's the worst episode, right? Because this woman has been living in like her own filth. Like they're like, there's feet we've tested. it There's feces everywhere.

JohhnyCAGE: And yeah, yeah. And she's like, oh, yeah, I just throw the the things out and just like, it's a rough one, right? And you look at her and you're like, this woman has, they're like, there's feces on the food, right? And she's like, so you've been trying to tell me I've been eating poop this whole time? yeah They're like, yes.

JohhnyCAGE: And then she's like, well, I want to go because the whole thing of hoarders is they're like, will you let us clean your house for you? And she was like, well, you know what?

JohhnyCAGE: if you are If you're going to do this, I'm going to hang out here one last night. She's like, the party's over. And the guy's like, no, the guy's like, what about this as a party?

Steve-O: Yeah, you can you what you're not done eating poop food.

JohhnyCAGE: And like, it's like, the defeat on this man's face is so apparent. And it's like, she's like, yeah, I'm just going to go. one last One last, throw one last razor in the poop house. And it's, uh,

JohhnyCAGE: it's

Steve-O: The Poop Palace.

JohhnyCAGE: It's truly awful. yeah So that's how I view it.

Steve-O: It's, you know, that's pretty accurate, I would say. That sounds like it. Playing Destiny in 2026 in a poop house.

JohhnyCAGE: It's like living and eating food where there's feces everywhere.

Steve-O: Everywhere.

JohhnyCAGE: It was like the plumbing didn't work or something like it had just had long stopped and being useful.

Steve-O: and don't like that.

JohhnyCAGE: But yeah, no, Chris is ah he said, I got tummy ache. I can't do it.

Steve-O: he's He's not feeling well. I feel like there's been a bug going around.

JohhnyCAGE: No, you know, what I think, you know, I think, I think he was just like, I didn't watch any video game trailers.

Steve-O: i just recovered. oh you think he got a tummy ache?

JohhnyCAGE: I better say I got tummy ache.

Steve-O: Chris doesn't care about video games, and that's fair.

JohhnyCAGE: don't believe

Steve-O: That's fair.

JohhnyCAGE: it. It's not fair to me, Steve.

Steve-O: He likes video games. I just don't think he is as hype to follow video game news.

JohhnyCAGE: that's a that's a bad person right there you know i try to think about comparables and i guess it's like music but and i don't know anyone no one in like the core group is like that into music no one's like oh dude i'm gonna watch the the week-long announcement of albums you know where i can be like yeah like i can't that's what i mean i'm like yeah i just don't give a like

Steve-O: That's not a thing, though. They don't do that.

Steve-O: How they do music...

JohhnyCAGE: Every once in a while when hobbies are discussed, I'm like, yeah, but my hobbies are like interesting.

Steve-O: I like my hobbies.

JohhnyCAGE: Like my hobbies are fun.

Steve-O: I don't like your hobbies. So no, no, I'm, I'm talking, I'm saying from your perspective,

JohhnyCAGE: You don't like video games or movies. Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm like, yo, your hobbies of. of

Steve-O: we've been doing a podcast for almost 20 years now because we have similar hobbies.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah. But I'm like, yeah, I don't like maybe it's like car shows. I'm like, yeah. Anytime Jenny starts getting deep, deep into cars, I'm like, uh-huh.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, it's so cool.

Steve-O: I try to, but I just can't. There's that part of me that wants to be when I.

JohhnyCAGE: Is there a hobby that a loved one is into that you just can't, you've struggled to get on board with?

Steve-O: There is a few. There's a few. i think I'm very good at supporting and, you know, being there. But also I don't talk during those. Like, I just kind of.

Steve-O: I just kind of listen.

JohhnyCAGE: <unk> get Are you at liberty to give one example?

Steve-O: no

JohhnyCAGE: i Nope, I am not going to do that.

Steve-O: No, no, no, no. no No, I'm going to please fight.

JohhnyCAGE: All right, I'm just going to make some some wild assumptions.

JohhnyCAGE: Is it like gay pride and stuff? You're just like, I don't care.

Steve-O: No, no, no. I support that. What? Wait, hold on.

JohhnyCAGE: I just can't get on board. Hey, like I said, I'm just gonna make some wild shots now. Because...

Steve-O: No. i

JohhnyCAGE: I just...

Steve-O: Is it like ah people's...

JohhnyCAGE: Listen.

Steve-O: ah

JohhnyCAGE: I'm glad you like it.

Steve-O: You know what? Good for you.

JohhnyCAGE: um' I'm just going to... I'll wave a flag. I'll sit down. I'll just, you know... but Please don't let... the very surface level, please.

Steve-O: like yeah Believe me, it's a lot of walking around in the streets on a hot day. Come on.

JohhnyCAGE: Come on, man.

Steve-O: If we did this in the fall, it'd be way nicer.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Well, okay. chris Chris is a...

Steve-O: what ah What about you?

JohhnyCAGE: Well, cars, like jenny Jenny's super into cars, and I'm like, oh, cool.

Steve-O: Cars? Yeah. I remember going to a boat show with my dad.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, that's a rough... it' see that's Yeah, that's one where you're like...

Steve-O: that's but That's worse than cars.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, you can't... Because, like, you'll have a car, right? As somebody who doesn't, like, live in the city, like, there's a good chance you'll have a car at that point in your life.

Steve-O: Right. I'm familiar.

JohhnyCAGE: Boats are whole other...

Steve-O: Pedal.

Steve-O: Boat, you see, dude, you see one boat. And that's the thing, too. The boat shows, they're in... They're in a convention center. They're not like on the water.

Steve-O: They do them at the same place they do the car show. That's stupid.

JohhnyCAGE: you Yeah. Oh, that is that. Well, I mean, listen, you got to see what the undercarriage looks like.

Steve-O: That's stupid.

JohhnyCAGE: You can't just look at a boat.

Steve-O: Do you need to see what the undercarry? That's the stuff that's going be covered in barnacles.

JohhnyCAGE: I think it I think it's important. I think it might be important. Who knows?

Steve-O: Oh, man. That'd be like if I had to crawl under every car at a car show.

JohhnyCAGE: Maybe trying to think of like, like within the hobbies I already enjoy. Like if there was like a whole week dedicated to like,

JohhnyCAGE: souls likes. I could be like, yeah, I'm a think over or dude.

Steve-O: Oh, that'd be, yeah, it would be one I would skip.

JohhnyCAGE: I just love being overburdened with gear and then walking really slow.

Steve-O: The thing is we know people who would lose their mind over that.

JohhnyCAGE: It's like that's what I'm saying.

Steve-O: i would say in more modern times, I think fighting games, like I don't really have when people, when the Evo new game drops start coming out, I don't have as much of an interest, but I'm like, that's cool.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: So that that's the thing, like the surface level, I can be like, like, like, ah you know, Tifa got announced for a Street Fighter game. So I was like, oh, that's sick. Am I going to buy it?

JohhnyCAGE: No, I'm not going to buy that fight back.

Steve-O: I'm definitely not going to buy the DLC. I'm not going read.

JohhnyCAGE: Maybe I will.

Steve-O: I haven't played Street Fighter 6 since 2023 when it came out.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. John, John famously kicked me off the game.

Steve-O: It's a great game, but he did.

JohhnyCAGE: I literally haven't touched it since.

Steve-O: He did.

JohhnyCAGE: But that's what happened.

Steve-O: It's over.

JohhnyCAGE: When you make a bet, I'll honor the bet.

Steve-O: He beat you, and now you can no longer play.

JohhnyCAGE: You know, he he beat me and said that you can never play Zangief. And I was like, but he's.

Steve-O: That was mask v mask.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, and that's what really upset me is because like, I know I fell in my bones. Well, John was the better street fighter. i had him be in zangief right i was like i'm a better geef player but then he we had a best of six and he he beat me and the bet he's like you'll never be allowed to play zangief ever again street fighter six and um no and i was defeated and it hurt it hurt me yeah i

Steve-O: You, you definitely do. Right.

Steve-O: It was the OG Gief versus new Gief.

Steve-O: You had to take off your mask in front of your family, announce your entire name, where you live, your age.

JohhnyCAGE: ah yeah

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, it was.

Steve-O: And then they made you walk off. They made you walk. He made you walk off from Street Fighter.

JohhnyCAGE: I was doxed.

Steve-O: He doxxed you.

JohhnyCAGE: They doxed me. And now I'm a big, now I'm a face.

Steve-O: ah Yeah, now you're now you're on the main shows again.

JohhnyCAGE: In America, I'm a face.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, everybody loves me now. I think that's right. i've only watched clips.

Steve-O: That is right. Yeah, you're right.

JohhnyCAGE: I've watched clips.

Steve-O: He made an appearance on SmackDown and people lost their damn mind.

JohhnyCAGE: Good. forget good for it Good for shorty G.

Steve-O: That's the thing, though, right? That's kind of the same thing that happened to Bret Hart and Stone Cold at WrestleMania 13.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, sort of, but.

Steve-O: They put on the best match of the night. People loved it. Everybody said, wow, these two are going somewhere.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, that was the double turn. Was there a double turn?

Steve-O: That was the double turn. ah

JohhnyCAGE: Is is is new.

Steve-O: I would say the turn is the OG turned into loving Mexico.

JohhnyCAGE: OK.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, yeah, I mean.

Steve-O: You went from hating to loving and they turned from hating to loving as well.

JohhnyCAGE: I kind of wished America was more like, you know what irks me about America? yeah know what irks me about America?

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Let me tell you. We're too big to turn fully heal or fully face. And I think I'm kind of ready to just do a full blown heel turn.

Steve-O: I'm with you.

JohhnyCAGE: Like part of me just wants to be a bad boy, you know, just like, yeah, like. wait

Steve-O: I think, you know.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, if imagine like imagines that scenario, right? Like, he comes out to to save whoever who got their mask ripped off. And we're like, rip them all off! Like, just because we're in America.

Steve-O: them all. We're

JohhnyCAGE: We're like, fucking you suck! USA!

Steve-O: like,

JohhnyCAGE: But hey, you know, we're too but we're too big to just uniformly be into or not into ah perspective.

Steve-O: we're like

JohhnyCAGE: So...

Steve-O: I mean, we're we're getting there. We're getting there into being like the full full-blown heel nation.

JohhnyCAGE: I just, yeah...

JohhnyCAGE: But like, yeah, like, I mean, yes, but I'm not there.

Steve-O: you Oh, you want to be a you want to be a part of that.

JohhnyCAGE: You know, like, I want to be, I want it to be something, thats that's what I mean.

Steve-O: You're going to be in this table?

JohhnyCAGE: That's what I mean.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, I want to be like, yeah, I want to be the guy that's like, oh, those NWO guys suck, but like, they're kind of awesome. And then six months from now, I'm wearing an NWO4 life shirt.

JohhnyCAGE: You know what I mean?

Steve-O: Right. um You know what? That's the thing, though, because whenever people do turn heel in real life, it's always like shitty.

JohhnyCAGE: Because, it's like,

Steve-O: It's never cool.

JohhnyCAGE: that that's what i mean like we we need uh we need like a tweener he'll heal you know we need a we need a he's a heel but he's cool and we're just like

Steve-O: Oh, yeah, we need somebody spray. OK, Shawn Michaels for president.

JohhnyCAGE: uh i don't know about all right you know who's a good example i'll give you a good modern example mjf mjf is this

Steve-O: yeah I mean, like, let's say, let's say he goes. Yeah. What's up. Okay. Modern. Oh, MJF is very good.

JohhnyCAGE: he's ah He's a wonderful tweener where he's a a bad boy, definitively a bad boy, but he's fun to watch.

Steve-O: He's enjoyable.

JohhnyCAGE: You know?

Steve-O: He's very enjoyable. He's a, gru he's a grumpy guy and he's got that wonderful scarf.

JohhnyCAGE: But...

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, you know, that Burberry scarf, that's his whole thing. And I just think... we were all a little bit more like it. I could be like, yeah, you know, sure.

JohhnyCAGE: We bomb this people, but man, that was a sick one liner.

Steve-O: a

JohhnyCAGE: We dropped.

Steve-O: well that's the thing i don't even think we need to do that i don't think you need to go to war like that's the stuff that's like you're like well now you've gone too far but like can you imagine like somebody going like to like across the country sweet chin musicking like one of like the prime ministers and then spray painting nwo on their back dude

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Yeah. Maybe not. Yeah. If we just talk shit instead of going to war. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Yeah, okay. Yeah, we just, we do it, but it's a 15-minute flag spray. so we're like, probably all the all the stars.

Steve-O: but

Steve-O: Oh, I got 50 of these.

JohhnyCAGE: my heart of character i tried Ah, shit.

Steve-O: okay He's doing all 50.

JohhnyCAGE: I didn't even do it. Yeah, and he's like, why do you have 10 cans of it? There's a of colors, man. You don't understand.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah. Like, that's what I want. But instead we got, you know, we got like what Vince McMahon thinks that he was

Steve-O: Just like a guy who's not completely fit.

JohhnyCAGE: it' like, ah just the psychopath that just where the motivation change weekly.

Steve-O: just

JohhnyCAGE: And you're like, I can't follow this storyline.

Steve-O: Just so...

JohhnyCAGE: I was telling Jenny. um I think I said this before too.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: I definitely said this, but like, I'm like, you know People get so mad at wrestling, and it can be it can be one of the most frustrating things ever, but like if you just just throw your hands up and just check in once once in a while, whenever you want, the big ones, just check in every once while.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: was like, it's awesome. Because you don't get hung up on like, oh, they're out pushing this because you don't know who the guys are.

Steve-O: yeah

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: You don't know you know, you're not worn out because they've run in the same angle for seven weeks in a row. He's just like, whatever. Just check in Oh, this is pretty sick.

JohhnyCAGE: me Let me hang out here for a month or two.

Steve-O: And the thing is, if something's good, you'll hear about it.

JohhnyCAGE: And then, yeah, you'll hear about it. And then you're like, never mind. I'm in.

Steve-O: I'll check this out. I'll check out this thing on YouTube. If somebody's saying it's good, maybe I'll watch it.

JohhnyCAGE: Or maybe I fucking won't.

Steve-O: I didn't watch clash at Italy. i sure as hell watched, uh, the triple show. So

JohhnyCAGE: i guess Well, is the AAA, how do you want, how do was that, oh, that was free?

Steve-O: that's free. That's free on YouTube. Yeah. The w WWE YouTube actually will, will stream those live.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

Steve-O: So,

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, that's, I'd say that's smart. Yeah, that's Not for old USA Steve.

Steve-O: And it's only an hour long. That one was two hours because it was like a pay-per-view, but...

Steve-O: USA Steve. Hey, no ads, do

JohhnyCAGE: You know what? Use a VPN. That's heal. That's a tweener.

Steve-O: too.

JohhnyCAGE: That's tweener.

Steve-O: VPNs are for Heels.

JohhnyCAGE: You're like, oh, ain't paying for it, but I'm cool about it.

Steve-O: Villain private network. Actually, a VPN would be a sick... Like, that's a stable for Heels.

JohhnyCAGE: Or like, that's my finisher, the VPN.

Steve-O: Oh, the VPN, dude. Oh, my goodness.

JohhnyCAGE: Where you can't find me because you don't know where I am.

Steve-O: Vipin.

JohhnyCAGE: I just throw your shirt over you and just hockey punch you. Call it the VPN. You don't know where I'm coming from.

Steve-O: That's what, honestly, you don't know where.

JohhnyCAGE: Maybe I'm from Italy. Maybe I'm from... god Uganda who could say

Steve-O: now jokes the joke's on you. It was from New Jersey.

JohhnyCAGE: Is room to do Jersey.

Steve-O: It was there is New Jersey. New Jersey.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, sorry. Are you Are you guys you got VPN by Cam in New Jersey?

Steve-O: Sorry, that's where I got you from.

JohhnyCAGE: Boom boom DDT Was

Steve-O: Devin, today was, or this week was a big week for gamers.

JohhnyCAGE: was

Steve-O: This was a real one. This is the one we wait for all year.

JohhnyCAGE: this is the one This is the one where I was like, guys, I'm so excited. What are your opinions? And you and Chris just made fun of me for like two hours.

Steve-O: We said video games are a rich man's hobby. Get into something more for the common man, like mud.

JohhnyCAGE: Like mud?

Steve-O: Like just cultivating mud.

JohhnyCAGE: You know what? That's what... Yeah, that's what you people are. You're mud people.

Steve-O: Wow, you people, you are really trying to be a heel.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah Yeah, well, I say you, P-Buzz, and people who don't have PS5 Pros.

Steve-O: Oh, okay.

JohhnyCAGE: go you're a mud You're a mud man.

Steve-O: That makes sense. You know, did you watch the latest um Kyle Bossman video?

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I did.

Steve-O: he in the topic of things, I think that this overall between the PlayStation state of play, the summer games and Xbox game showcase, I think this was the year exclusives were back on the market where we are.

JohhnyCAGE: Mm-hmm.

Steve-O: We are playing the exclusive game again.

JohhnyCAGE: Is it fair or unfair of me to be salty about it?

Steve-O: Um,

JohhnyCAGE: One way salty.

Steve-O: Did your microphone just change, Devin?

JohhnyCAGE: i I was pouring a glass of water, so I muted my microphone so you didn't hear me pouring water into a cup.

Steve-O: Okay, because I can hear a fan in the background now. m

JohhnyCAGE: I told you. I told you that fan was going to come in. Hold on.

Steve-O: I don't hear it anymore.

JohhnyCAGE: let me

Steve-O: I don't hear it anymore.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: But the absence of the fan made you go, oh, yeah, it's

Steve-O: ah yeah Yeah, it was very prominent in that instance.

JohhnyCAGE: loud as shit.

Steve-O: um And that one's, you know what, that one's for the fans.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

Steve-O: um

JohhnyCAGE: Okay. Um, um, um, though we we oh, yeah. So I was, uh, I was excited for some games and then, ah I found out they weren't coming and I'm like, man, that bums me out.

Steve-O: Yeah.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Then I'm like, how fair is that? Like, how, how fair is it? You know? And then, uh, I'm trying to figure out a way, ah scenario where I'm like, I can be rightfully irritated, but also not feel like a hypocrite.

JohhnyCAGE: and And what I'm talking about is the the xbox Xbox had ah announced that two games I was interested in, Gears

Steve-O: E-Day

JohhnyCAGE: EA and Clockwork Expand. What was it called?

Steve-O: Quacklework Revolution

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, thank you. um Were... I don't want to say officially announced. See, that's the other one. That's the other kind of tricky bit. It's like what they weren't like officially announced and then ripped away, but it was just like, well, with how everything's going, these would come out on PS five and then they snatched it away.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Seemingly kind of feel like from gears, it kind of feels like last as as late as they possibly could have because

Steve-O: right

JohhnyCAGE: you know, once you get a release date, then you get preset then you get pre-orders, then you get people purchasing it, and then, you know, which which is why I'm pretty sure, like, Fable and Halo are are not...

JohhnyCAGE: They're still going to be available on PS5, because, like, pre-orders and things like that had been, like...

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: Contracts had been signed, you know?

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: From from my understanding. And... Obviously, that hadn't really happened yet with Gears. Clearly, it didn't happen yet with Gears.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: And Clockwork Revolution, which is coming out in 2027. So, i don't know, man. I was like, ah come on, man. But at the same time, you know, it's not like like Wolverine's coming out on Xbox.

JohhnyCAGE: It's not like, you know, or even PC at this point, right?

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Which is...

Steve-O: they Yeah, they are strictly PlayStation is strictly on PlayStation consoles.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah. So it's like, well, PlayStation decided, hey, this isn't really working out for us. We're just going to focus on us. So for Xbox to say the same thing, essentially, right, is I know it's not exactly the same, but maybe maybe that's it. Maybe it's in the details is where I'm like, that's bullshit.

JohhnyCAGE: But I don't know. Maybe I'm just being a salty baby, but.

JohhnyCAGE: Man, i don't know. Did you... and ah You know, i don't know if you want to go in order or not, but did you see any of that stuff for the Xbox?

Steve-O: um I watched a few of them.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay, watch some of the highlights, some of the good ones.

Steve-O: um Some of the highlights. Yeah. um You know, I saw the E-Day stuff.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: ah

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: You know, that looks cool. I don't know if it's I might be somebody who just doesn't care that much about the Gears of War franchise.

JohhnyCAGE: i'll tell I'll tell you why. I'll tell you the exact problem.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: Because if you had played Gears in 2006, and let's say you played Gears 2 in like 2008 or whatever it was, and then I shot you in the chest, and then you were in a coma, and you wake up in 2026, you're like, oh my God.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: And and let's say you had six months to play new games. You're like, oh my God, this, that, the other thing. And then I'm like, here's Gears of War E-Day. I think you'd be like, this looks, and not looks, but like this feels, and essentially looks, obviously the graphics are better, but like there's nothing universally different about the gameplay like at all. They said they they redid all of the animations from the ground up, which i I'm not going to say I don't believe, but it's like, they're still doing the roadie run, they're still smashing in the cover, they're still popping...

JohhnyCAGE: and shooting and it's like it's just it's nothing's different dude like nothing is the the recipe is still the same and it's like yes can they jump from higher can they mantle over higher things like yeah sure but like dude we're still on the same fucking planet i mean like be you know

Steve-O: Right.

Steve-O: I mean, it's a prequel.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah it's a prequel we're still on the same planet we're still using the lancers and i'm not saying you have to have your you can't have these things but it's like it just be like imagine if we're like oh bro you see the new god war but it takes place it's still in greece he still has the blades and he's still a big angry guy and it's like

Steve-O: Yeah, that that would be like

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, that's cool. I just feel like we've been doing this for a little but a little while.

Steve-O: Jurassic.

JohhnyCAGE: And it's like...

Steve-O: of That's a such an epic comparison too, because God of war one came out the year before. I think the first gears of war is 2005.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, I mean... Hold on.

Steve-O: And then i think for gears.

JohhnyCAGE: Man, I got it. Was it really?

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: got more one Wednesday, let's see.

Steve-O: And then 2018 was when they changed the God of War formula.

JohhnyCAGE: Jeez. Oh my God. Yeah. So like, yeah. And like, listen, you got God of War 2, which was like sick. And listen, I get it. God of War.

JohhnyCAGE: Great game. Gears of War was 2006, you said.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: So it's like, yeah.

Steve-O: Six or seven.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. But it's like, okay, compar comparatively, like that's crazy. That's a crazy leap. And it looks like that. And it's just never looked any different.

Steve-O: The same idea would be if you played Super Mario Brothers and then 20 years later. Super Mario got Galaxy was just an 8-bit Mario game for the Nintendo.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Or like maybe it's 16 bit, you know, and you're like okay.

Steve-O: ah Yeah, maybe that's like when they finally get a 60-bit.

JohhnyCAGE: It's like, I don't know. It's,

Steve-O: The formula hasn't been like rejuvenized like.

JohhnyCAGE: it's good. Like, it's like look a gears game and I played four and I played five. I played all right. um And like five was,

JohhnyCAGE: you know five I liked 5 more than 4 solely because there was open world stuff, which apparently is not a popular opinion.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: But I'm like, at least it's different. like It's something different. And you know the characters sucked and the enemies are awful.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: and Because cause like the problem with 4 and 5 are just like, they're like, hey, we finally defeated the Locust or whatever they were called. There's a new enemy and it's the exact same thing, but they're red.

Steve-O: Mm

JohhnyCAGE: Like literally.

Steve-O: That's the same plot as Halo.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, it's and it only. yeah but like, i don't know.

Steve-O: Xbox, do a new story.

JohhnyCAGE: I just think about years ago, there was a I was thinking about this. I was listening to a giant bomb podcast, like giant bomb East or something. It was ah the vi Vinny guy, right?

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Vinny.

Steve-O: Oh, good old Vinny.

JohhnyCAGE: And he was talking about how he was like watching an interview for like Gears 4. Like, what are going to do? It's a new studio. It's Gears of War. And the story's over, you know, quote unquote, it's over. And they were like, yeah, we were thinking about like maybe putting it on a different planet or like putting it like having totally different enemies or like just completely new cast, like not related at all to the other ones.

JohhnyCAGE: And I just remember, and this was like after 4 had come out or something. and that So it was kind of like a, like a retrospective a little bit. And I just remember Vinny was like, yeah, yeah, no, all of those ideas were better. Like you should have did literally any of those ideas. And it's geez, right? Like,

JohhnyCAGE: if you're just going to pop up, pop, you know, hit a corner, pop up, shoot, like it's not bad, but it's just tired. And it's, yes, it's pretty, but it's like, you're not treading really new ground.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: You're it's a nostalgia play. It's a $200 million dollars nostalgia play. Essentially, you know, I don't know what the budgets are, but it looks expensive.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And, um, And i'll just I'll just get into it, but like they're and they're putting this game out to die. Like, to prove a point? I don't know what the point is. And like, yes, I understand this is making me sound salty, but it's like, this game is not going to sell well.

JohhnyCAGE: They're, like, based off of the fact that there's not that many Xboxes out there. And plus, it's going be on Game Pass, and it's

Steve-O: Is it going to be on Steam? Because I know it's console exclusive, but...

JohhnyCAGE: yeah ah Yeah, I think the PC, I think it's going to on PC.

Steve-O: Okay, I see, yeah, E-Day here on Steam right now.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah. So like, but like, it's just not going to, it's not going to sell and they're going to lose money. And to to say, oh, look, this is for the fans. We're exclusive now.

JohhnyCAGE: And it's like, cool.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And then when the same thing happens with Clockwork, uh, Maybe it won't even by then, right? Because like there's a tinfoil hat.

Steve-O: Right. Mm

JohhnyCAGE: There's the theory that they're they're trying to look good both ways. So they're going to say, listen, we heard you. We heard the fans and we're going back to exclusives, baby. So everybody, you know, high fives. They're all excited.

JohhnyCAGE: And then it bombs, right? Because there's approximately 7500 Xboxes out there at this point. ah And then they're go like, listen, like fiduciary duty, we have to, you know, we heard you, let's put it out for, for you know, PS5 and all that.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And then, so they're going to be able to walk it back because they they were pretty, at least I'll say this, they were upfront about saying, we're trying this out, we'll see. um But I don't know, it's just like,

JohhnyCAGE: they're really throwing this out, you know, without a lifeboat. And it's like kind of wild. Now, granted gear, the gears one remake didn't make any money from my, like I say, it didn't make it, but like it didn't really blow up the charts on PS five when it was released.

JohhnyCAGE: But you know, there's a billion reasons why that didn't work because it's like the fourth remake of a game from 2006 that we've all played, you know, a

Steve-O: it's It's really hard to sell somebody on like a game like that being remade.

JohhnyCAGE: ah A game that's been remade, remastered like three or four times. Yeah.

Steve-O: Can I do can I do kind of a spinoff in this section for a moment?

JohhnyCAGE: it's

JohhnyCAGE: Sure.

Steve-O: um I think that's a little bit similar to the announced during the state of play. Rayman's legends retold.

JohhnyCAGE: How dare you?

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: They've never done a bad thing in their life.

Steve-O: It's it's weird because it's, you know, I feel like it's.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, I was excited, and then I heard it's just like ah a graphical update, but it's like 3D, right?

Steve-O: It's 3D and I don't even know if it's an update. Like I don't even know if you can call it an update. It's just like a change of graphics. And when the graphics were like so vibrant and like they were like visually beautiful for what they were.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, I was like... They had, like, the evergreen art styles, like, hand-drawn almost.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: like It looked really good. And it's, like... And that's one of those art styles that, like, will look good 20 years from now because it's, like... It just looked really good. And then they're, like, yeah, we we threw this on there.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: and you're, like, oh, okay. And it's, like, I'm looking at the footage now, and it doesn't look bad, but it's, like...

Steve-O: Also, i think this is a game you can still just play. Like, I i don't i don't understand this, like, rush to...

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: Yeah, yeah, here, on so on Steam, Rayman Legends, it's $29.99. Came out twenty thirteen Um, like I can still play this game. This is a game that like Ubi, I feel like Ubisoft is like they're circling the drain and they're just looking to like put out anything at this point to try and like get prominence.

JohhnyCAGE: It's true. Yeah.

Steve-O: But like, we don't need these games to be remade. We don't need uh, Gears of War remake because you know, all the other games feel exactly like the first Gears of War.

Steve-O: so yeah, yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, like like generally, right? Like, yes, obviously it's a little tighter here, a little tighter there. It's it's undergone like, you know, small updates.

JohhnyCAGE: And that speaks to the quality of Gears 1, to be honest.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: But it's like... yeah, man, ah because like Horde Mode was innovative and awesome and like that's what made that great. And like there was a story and one of my, I say it all the time, but one of my favorite things is like even if the story is like bad or kind of like hokey, is there really giving it ah an earnest swing?

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: Like I respect it and I'll just like, I'll just be more invested. And like a great example of that is Chronicles of Riddick and a really great video game example of that is Gears of War 1, 2, and 3.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, it's it's just hulking guys that grunt and yell. But, like, they're they really going for something, right, in terms of a plot and a storyline. So, yeah, like, I'm invested. And then I try to get invested in the multiplayer, and then it just turns into rolling shotguns.

JohhnyCAGE: And honestly, like, that was, i remember trying, like, five.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: like five multiplayer. And I'm like, we're still doing rolling shotguns. i was like, I'm out. Like, I'm out. I cannot do this anymore.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: It's just like. Yeah.

Steve-O: I remember when that became the meta in playing Gears one and just being like ah that, that kind of pushed me away from the series.

JohhnyCAGE: okay

JohhnyCAGE: And they try to fix it. And then they go from. Yes, we fixed it, but now no one's happy because that's the meta and that's what the hardcores do.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: I worked with a guy whose brother was a um like a professional Gears multiplayer guy. like Top 100 or something.

JohhnyCAGE: right he was like He was in it.

Steve-O: Coldrick's iPhone 2.0.

JohhnyCAGE: and i was like but i He had told me this and Gears 4 maybe was out or maybe it wasn't out at that point, but I was just like what a Because, like, on one hand, that's impressive.

JohhnyCAGE: But on the other, I'm like, what a really unnecessary game to be really good at at this time. Like, it's great that he's into it. But, like, because he was like, oh, yeah, he thinks he's going to make money off of being a fucking like a top 100 Gears of War player.

Steve-O: That's ah like a weird monkey's paw situation where it's like you're you're like, want to be one of the best in the world at playing a game.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: like I'm the best and you're like what game you're like Bioshock 2 I'm the best top three Bioshock 2 multiplayer oh that's yes I respect it but also wow okay cool good for you

Steve-O: And then you get gears. but You're the best in Bioshock 2 multiplayer.

Steve-O: Oh,

Steve-O: oh my God.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, that's that's a lot. Anyway, I know we kind of went off an order or anything like that, but guess.

Steve-O: Well, you know, we can freestyle. You know, we're talking Xbox.

JohhnyCAGE: All right. All right. um

Steve-O: That's fun.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, yeah. I mean, Xbox Clockwork Revolution. maybe Again, maybe this is the salt. Maybe.

Steve-O: ah This sounds like what the salt is.

JohhnyCAGE: I loved it. I love that first trailer. And this one, i was like.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: You just feel thinking. I don't know.

Steve-O: refuse

JohhnyCAGE: i don't know why. I just I'm just being a bitch. But I think maybe, and this isn't fair, but I'm looking at this and I was like, every game, i was like, because there's something else here to Magician's The Devil's Deal, or The Devil Deal, which I don't know if you saw the trailer for, but it's like, it's cool.

JohhnyCAGE: But I'm like, this looks like Bioshock. Clockwork Revolution looks like Bioshock.

Steve-O: It looks like Bioshock.

JohhnyCAGE: First Person, you know steampunk quirky type of deal. Like, I'm just like, yeah, just, I don't know. I don't know. Just like if, if I'm not getting it, then I think it looks like shit.

JohhnyCAGE: This is essentially a how it sounds, but like, yeah.

Steve-O: It's the race to be the new Bioshock, it seems. And nobody's able to hit it because in modern gaming right now, like the thing about Bioshock is those were games that were dominated by their atmosphere.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: They were awesome, like settings. But in modern gaming, you can't just be an awesome setting. You need to have an awesome setting that has an awesome story. You would need to do a Bioshock that is on the same story level as like a disco Elysium at this point, which is like it's daunting.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. And it's like, i mean, I mean, ah to to be fair to myself, Clockwork Revolution, they're like, it's time travel. And I'm like, okay. So it just felt like Bioshock Infinite.

Steve-O: on

JohhnyCAGE: like And i I do not like Bioshock Infinite. And so I'm like, but yeah, I mean, it's,

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: It doesn't look bad. They don't look bad. They just don't look terribly impressive, unfortunately for me.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: So.

Steve-O: It gives me feelings of, what was that, the Outer Wilds or the Outer Worlds or?

JohhnyCAGE: And.

JohhnyCAGE: Outer Worlds is the RPG. Outer Wilds is the one that's like you're in like a Groundhog's Day situation.

Steve-O: Outer Worlds, then. This reminds me of just, like, Outer Worlds.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Yeah.

Steve-O: Because it's like, you know, they're trying to do the thing that is, like, you know, they're whatever their bread and butter was. And it just it just doesn't feel 100% authentic.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, I mean, and shit, maybe I'll be and I hope it's good because it looks cool. And maybe at some point I'll be able to play it, but not likely, according to some people.

Steve-O: According to Xbox.

JohhnyCAGE: We're an Xbox, not allowed. Persona 6 with your least favorite thing ever, which is just a logo reveal.

Steve-O: Oh, everybody. look Come on. P6, man.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, when was the last successful logo reveal? Metroid?

Steve-O: I don't know if you can call that successful.

JohhnyCAGE: I wouldn't call that a success. Yeah, yeah.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: It's just like... ah Cool, I guess. Let's see. There was that other trailer. we don't have to go through every single one of these, but yeah.

Steve-O: Nah, but the bangers. There's these's some bangers.

JohhnyCAGE: Vavarian kind of looks cool. It looks cool.

Steve-O: It looks cool. That's the Ghostrunners team, I think.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, is it? Okay.

Steve-O: It's a Souls-like, though, so...

JohhnyCAGE: No, no. Vavarian's like a... It's like a Ghibli-looking game.

Steve-O: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm looking at Valor Mortis. Yeah, Vivarium.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah okay um valor more ah that's the yeah it's like the first person souls you're like a of revolutionary soldier or something i mean all right cool uh i don't know if i'm gonna play this but what you think of the the belmont the castlevania game

Steve-O: Yeah. Yeah.

Steve-O: ah You know, I'm excited to check it out just because I was a very big fan of Dead Cells.

JohhnyCAGE: Dead Cells?

Steve-O: Thank you. And so, you know, New Castlevania game, it's probably going to be a budget title too, I imagine. So not even a budget title, but

JohhnyCAGE: Free on Game Pass. Free Game Pass, probably.

Steve-O: ah does it say that? And that way mean it's going to be a PS5 too, so maybe not.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Yeah, I mean, i mean if you have it if you have Game Pass, might be free on Game Pass, but ah anyway, yeah.

Steve-O: Maybe they're being real strict about it.

Steve-O: I'm down to check it out.

JohhnyCAGE: right. Yeah, it looks neat.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Magician's Double Deal, we talked about a little bit already.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: ah to Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm trying to find a reason. It's tough because I understand that there's outrage

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: But it's like without being able to point to a very particular thing, I'm kind of like, I kind of throw my hands up and it's the crazy taxi AI thing. Yeah.

Steve-O: Yeah, I was. So I watched ah Jeff Gertzman checking out the footage today of the crazy taxi stuff.

JohhnyCAGE: because yeah

Steve-O: And, you know, it looks like crazy taxi. um But the problem is like, yeah, like some the second somebody is like, yeah, they're they're using AI on this. There is that like kind of like stink on it a little bit.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah

Steve-O: And it's hard to kind of just like pin it down where it's like, I think it's just at this point where it feels like. You're almost getting like. Cheated a little bit of a of a game where it's like the game is still there.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah

Steve-O: I'm sure it's going to be super fun. It looks like Crazy Taxi. It's just the idea where it's like, eh. Like you brought the original guy in It's like to quote what Jeff Gertzman says is it's like, it's a total vibes project. If you like crazy taxi, this is crazy taxi.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: And it like, it should have been like, just like all in all, just like a big success.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: But then like, you know, the prime thing that people are going to be talking about is the fact that it, you know, it was made using AI and you know all this stuff. So it's just like, at this point, I think in time, it's almost like,

Steve-O: It's almost a marketing like stink bomb for your game. If you like come out and like put that stuff out first, like immediate.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah Because it's like, what are they saying? Like, oh, someone's just placeholder and we're just using AI for that. Like, ah it's so vague and I'm not surprised that they they they are being vague about it.

JohhnyCAGE: But it's like, don't know, they just don't want to point to it. I get that. But I'm like, if it's, man, just give me the game.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And like, if it's placeholder and everything at the end of the day is going to be used by real humans or made by real humans, I'm like... Okay, but I also, I appreciate that it is slippery and, and you know, it's not in their best interest at all to be upfront about it, but...

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: I'll say this, man, the gameplay looked fun.

Steve-O: yeah It looked like crazy taxi.

JohhnyCAGE: I was like...

Steve-O: It, you know, I love crazy taxi. So this is something that I would like to be really excited about. um we'll see. We'll see. You know, again, I don't know how early this is.

Steve-O: So it's supposed to be out in 2027. It says, yeah, plenty of time.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay, so we got we got time. um Man. this is This is one I'm going to hold for. i played Doom the Dark Ages.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: I like Doom the Dark Ages. The Revelations trailer kind of gave me like, okay. like I really liked Doom Eternal, like the old gods or or whatever it was, like that DLC.

JohhnyCAGE: That was quite good. um But... and This Doom, I think, of all the other Dooms, was like it felt like the most forgettable.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah I'm like, I played it. It was good. It was good. But like it never really impressed me, i would say.

Steve-O: Right.

Steve-O: m

JohhnyCAGE: It's just like, yeah, I played Doom for like 12 hours, and I liked it, but I didn't love it.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And I didn't hate it, but it was just didn't really... I don't think i like I said anything other than like, yeah, I played it and it's ah it's pretty good. you know and And that's pretty much it.

JohhnyCAGE: So, rely I don't know. I guess i'll I'm the wait and see type for this DLC. If it's like really good, I'll ah look into it. But otherwise, if's neat it's that it's it's getting a some DLC.

Steve-O: Yeah, you know, see what people say when it comes out.

Steve-O: Next month, or right?

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, soon. Which is cool. like yeah The schedule is is very full at this point.

Steve-O: People don't want to release around Grand Theft Auto 6. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: I know somebody needs like some, but I will talk about it. But I think something's going to budge because like there's like five games, five major games are coming out within the span of like five days of each other.

JohhnyCAGE: It's something crazy like that.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: um Let's see. There's a new Senua game, which kind of feels this one feels weird because it's like. Did you play any of the Hellblade games, Steve?

Steve-O: I remember you talking about the first Hellblade game.

JohhnyCAGE: Hellblade 1 is sick, but it's like, obviously, it's like, yeah, you know, it's like, it looks really good, and it was it's a budget title, but it looks great, but like the combat was a little funky, and then the second one they, I mean, Xbox, Microsoft, they perched it as if it was going to be like,

Steve-O: Yeah.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: the God of War Ragnarok to to the first one or, you know, something like it was going to be a bigger, more explicit.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And they were like, no, it's like even i think they were like, it's borderline more artistic and weird than the first one, which by all means, that's cool. Like, i I'm glad they got to make that game.

JohhnyCAGE: But everybody's like, this wasn't really what we were expecting, considering it was like the tentpole game, and it kind of turned out to be less than impressive.

JohhnyCAGE: And then there's this one, which kind of feels like they were like, listen, you have, we paid you.

Steve-O: right.

JohhnyCAGE: You have the engine. You have a combat. Make a combat-heavy game. I don't care about your messages. I don't care about...

Steve-O: Take that artistic stuff and just throw it out.

JohhnyCAGE: you know, your interest, yeah, get make a reason for her to go to point a and point B and kill 3,000 things. ah That's kind of how this felt because it's like the trailer is, I mean, I guess in Senua fashion, it's like, don't know what's happening. don't know what the hell's going on, but like this doesn't feel like they were like, oh, yes, we want to say something.

JohhnyCAGE: there I think they were just like, fucking make her cut shit up with her sword because it looks great.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: All right, cool. Um, let's see. State of Decay 3. Cool. i don't i'll know, man.

Steve-O: There's three of those now.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, there's three of them. um Halo, Campaign Evolved. So this is something that I am interested in because we were talking about how, like, Gears, you remake Gears, like...

JohhnyCAGE: two, three, four times, whatever. And it's just like kind of the same. I will say i appreciate that they're like, we are giving you new content. And it's like three missions that are original, and brand new, basically before the game even starts.

JohhnyCAGE: um And I like that. I don't know if it's enough for me to buy it. Even though it comes on PS5. And I think, hold on.

JohhnyCAGE: I think I saw a thing that said like there was a trailer going out there and it might have been. i don't think it's this one, but it says p s five pro footage. And I was like, oh, that's got to sting.

Steve-O: Oh, a little bit, yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't care. don't care what you're doing. That's got to sting a little bit, man. um But like, hey, yeah, at least they're doing something else. And it's shiny it's new.

JohhnyCAGE: And it's, you know, it's Halo. Good for them.

Steve-O: People love Halo.

JohhnyCAGE: I guess.

Steve-O: I think. I don't know if modern audiences.

JohhnyCAGE: they do I think.

Steve-O: I think the Halo audiences are like all like dads now.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: it's It's like John and Tom.

JohhnyCAGE: um

Steve-O: is

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. And then there's Fable, which is kind of one of those things where it was rumored that this is going to get delayed because they're like, we need to have Halo. We need to have Gears. We need to have, think there's something else.

Steve-O: Forza.

JohhnyCAGE: Forza had to come out and they're like, Something's got to go. Something's got to give because Halo Fable won't be ready until probably later in the year.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And it's going to be jammed up for other reasons. And GTA. And if there's one that they felt like they could comfortably push, it was Fable.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And they did. And it's, you know, it's a cool trailer. um I still just want to see like a normal trailer.

Steve-O: Yeah, I just want to see... they I know they can't do it.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, is it the office? What is, like, what are, what is the vibe? And then, i'll

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah, I don't know. I don't know, man.

Steve-O: I want Peter Mjolnir exploring the world and being like, see this tree?

JohhnyCAGE: I

Steve-O: You can plant this tree and see it grow.

JohhnyCAGE: see it grow after you've been slain by your son.

Steve-O: but When you play the game, it doesn't it's not in there.

JohhnyCAGE: that

Steve-O: you're like what are you talking about, man?

JohhnyCAGE: Catch you again, bitches.

Steve-O: Sorry, I've got your money.

JohhnyCAGE: It's all raw. It's all raw. Get your money.

Steve-O: So ra I got your money.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, no. So it was like, it was cool to see Fable again, but it's just, it was this very obvious that they were like, oh yeah, we're going to delay it.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, oh, cool. So that's, that's neat. um Yeah. I mean, that was Xbox. I know we didn't touch on everything, but I feel like that's all the major things.

Steve-O: Want to grade Devin, I want to grade.

JohhnyCAGE: Man, the salt wants to give it like a D. But like, Gears, Fable, Halo. Like, it kind of gave you everything.

JohhnyCAGE: ah It's kind like a C. I think a solid c

Steve-O: um' I'm with you on a C. I think, you know, it's exciting to see where Xbox is going at this point with new leadership and them being like, you know what, we're here to kind of like beat the drum of the Xbox brand and we're not playing ball with anybody else anymore.

JohhnyCAGE: I feel, dude, I cannot. It's, it just seems like a honeypot situation, man. It's like, i don't believe a thing. i don't believe a single thing that comes out of like leadership's mouth at this point.

Steve-O: No.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, it feels so performative, and it feels like they are playing the game industry. Like, report it feels like they're playing them like a drum, dude.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, oh, look at these leaked memos that came out.

Steve-O: m

JohhnyCAGE: They have nothing but positive, really good things to say. That's so crazy. And I'm not saying, like, we're in on it, but it's like, that it feels like whether this is, you know, ah is it Arsha or Asha Sharma?

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: I think Arsha Sharma.

Steve-O: Yeah. Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: It feels like she has a very good idea of like how they're going to react. Asha Sharma, sorry. It feels like she's like...

JohhnyCAGE: this is how they're going to act. And like, and they are just taking the bait on literally everything. Cause it's like, they changed the logo. We have a new war cry.

JohhnyCAGE: We're going back to the old logo. We dropped the price. And it's like, I'm not saying any of these things are bad, but it's just, I don't know, man. It just feels like she's like, I'm just going to say what we need to say until we can kind of get it out. Because like at this stage,

JohhnyCAGE: we're still too early in for any of her decisions to like act, actually like make an impact.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: You know, it's like all of these games were greenlit by Phil Spencer. Right. But ah ahead of time, like years and years ahead of time. So I don't know. It's just,

JohhnyCAGE: I look at the the YouTube thumbnails and it's like just the same looking guy saying the same exact thing. And it's just like, and I get It's kind of like a hive mind thing, but it just feels like she's aware of that. i'm saying she, let's just say leadership. Xbox leadership is aware of that. And they are just like, yep, let's just use the playbook.

JohhnyCAGE: And none of it feels authentic. At this point. And maybe things will change. But like it's just. i don't know man. Like everything is just.

JohhnyCAGE: It's autopilot. And yes the vibes. i would i I don't think you could argue. That the vibes are better. Like they are.

JohhnyCAGE: Just like. This feels like not a monkey's paw, but it's just like there's something nasty coming. And I don't know what it is, but I feel like it exists.

Steve-O: Yeah, I mean, something's up. You know, theres this is a big shift right now, just in like just in gaming as a whole. Like, you know, this is the first time console prices have had to go up mid generation.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: um

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Like, I think I retweeted something.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: It was like, oh, yeah. I bet all those guys are like, oh, new gears, Xbox only. I mean, how much could an Xbox cost at this point? Right. It's been out.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: It's got to be cheap. Right. Was it 250? Matt?

Steve-O: Oh.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, my.

Steve-O: No.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. there's that That's what you're making exclusive. Right. Oh, dude, I got to get it. I got get an Xbox again. How much are they? I'm sorry. Fucking what, bro?

JohhnyCAGE: Like, no anyway, sorry. Yeah, it's just...

JohhnyCAGE: Just gonna let me play Gears. That's fine.

Steve-O: You're right, though. You're right. Like, you know.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, yeah, come on, man. um

Steve-O: We have made gaming harder to get to play again.

JohhnyCAGE: Dude, it feels a scam, dude. Like, ah

JohhnyCAGE: I think I threaten to say this every generation, but I'm like, dude, this might be the last one, man. It's just like, at least the last one where I'm like, this invested.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm like a day one guy because it's just like this cannot it cannot literally cannot stand to be this like like this for any longer.

Steve-O: m

JohhnyCAGE: Like the bubble is going to burst so badly.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And like, you know, people have been getting laid off or fired for three years now, like straight. And it's like it finally has slowed down.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: But.

JohhnyCAGE: It's just like, but like as a result, they're like, okay, no one's getting, no one else is getting like fired on like such a devastating clip. But also your Xbox Series X costs $850.

JohhnyCAGE: Like wait, what dude?

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: oh your PS5 pro is $900. Oh, the, was it the, uh, the fucking, the steam deck?

Steve-O: Oh, yeah, the Steam Box.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, there's a Steam bought box, like the Steam deck upped it like $300 increase.

Steve-O: The deck, yeah, the deck, yeah.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: three hundred three

Steve-O: I remember when I bought mine, I was like, dude, this is like $700.

Steve-O: And now it's like $1,000, like minimum.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. let's in that's in

Steve-O: I'm like, this is.

JohhnyCAGE: That's like embarrassing. You know, like I don't i don't know what to, it's like,

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: as strong as a PS4 pro it's not, I get it.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: It's handheld. It's like, are you what? Like, no, bro. Like, sorry, but no. Um, anyway, let's talk about some more games that I'm, that I legitimately am very interested, but, um, I don't know, man.

Steve-O: Mm

JohhnyCAGE: I just, I, I have concerns.

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: I can't, I can't act like I don't.

JohhnyCAGE: Um, um,

Steve-O: Well, let's ah let's go to the other guy.

JohhnyCAGE: Alright, did you want to go to state of play?

Steve-O: i would say, let's you know, we went over to the to the green side of game and let's go over to the blue skies.

JohhnyCAGE: Team blue? Team blue? Alright. Do you want to go back to front? Front to back?

Steve-O: Let's go front to back.

JohhnyCAGE: Alright.

JohhnyCAGE: Wolverine?

Steve-O: Wolverine.

JohhnyCAGE: I made i mean I cleared my schedule for a while for this one.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: I was like, I'm, I, we can't get groceries that day.

Steve-O: listen

JohhnyCAGE: like Literally what has it? We can't not that day.

Steve-O: I need this. This is the one that I need.

JohhnyCAGE: What do you mean? Oh, well at five, at five o'clock is going to happen.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: It's going to be like an hour and a half. And to be fair,

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Jenny was like, I hear you. Calm down. I hear you. ah You know, yeah, sure. Sure. And then I was like, oh, look, it's Wolverine. Now, unfortunately, i don't know.

JohhnyCAGE: Did you watch this live, Steve? Or was this like clips?

Steve-O: No, I just watched the trailer later.

JohhnyCAGE: effort okay Yeah. ah Live, it was like the stream was buckling. So you had two ways to watch on YouTube where the the stream kept juddering and then everything was out of sync.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Or you could switch it over the Twitch where the frame rate was nothing. It was like two, two frames per second because of one popularity, which is nice.

JohhnyCAGE: But two, I popped the chat open and it's just assholes spamming.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: We want Destiny three or like the D3 logo.

Steve-O: Jesus.

JohhnyCAGE: And I was just like, this is embarrassing. But anyway, so it was a little tough to watch. live And then, but Jenny came home. was like, Jenny, look at Wolverine. And she's like, that's very nice. And I was like, isn't it cool? um But that being said, it was Wolverine trailers. was It was exactly what I wanted.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't know. it was is about seven minutes, seven and a half minutes of just like gameplay, which is what I thought, which is kind of what I thought. is I bet you they're going start with like a a good gameplay chunk.

JohhnyCAGE: Wolverine and it's going to be sick. Like it's going to be exactly kind of like it's going to show him doing dope shit. It's exactly that.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, dude, he his murders, man, like all of the murder he's doing in this.

Steve-O: Is Wolverine being Wolverine that like you you've always imagined Wolverine doing and being at your fingertips.

JohhnyCAGE: dude in one of in like one of the fights he kicks a guy into a forklift like spear like i don't know man I'm just like this is everything I wanted for him to look like dude what

Steve-O: You know what it kind of scratches the itch of too? It scratches that Punisher for the PlayStation 2 with the the violence and the gore.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah yeah and like

Steve-O: It's really kind of got that going with it too, which I love.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Like ah I was surprised by like the Jean gray, like kind of co-op moves. I was like, Oh man, that's sick.

Steve-O: It's Jean Grey vicious.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Jean. I don't, I'm thinking he was trying to do a bit there, but I was like, I don't, I'm not here for this man.

Steve-O: I thought he was.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't know what you're trying to say. Um, and I can't be more fiction about like when people are just fiction about like how the blood falls off him too quickly. I'm like, okay, okay, sure. Like, yeah, what a problem.

Steve-O: right This is the Spider-Man puddle thing all over again.

JohhnyCAGE: Uh, Yeah, like, it feels like that.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: It's like, okay, like, if this is really what, and that is game discourse on Twitter, which is its own thing. I understand that, but yeah, man, I don't know what your thoughts on this were, but I was like, like, are you, are is this something where you're like, I'm considering blowing off the four inches of dust off my PS5, and okay.

Steve-O: I mean,

Steve-O: well, yeah, yeah, definitely. Like this is definitely one of the, I, I look at the,

JohhnyCAGE: Because to be fair, to be fair, this is a a gear situation, right? Like you can't, you have to play it on this.

Steve-O: You have to play it on the PlayStation five.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: it is not.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: And you know, they made that mandate where they said our single player games, our single player games are only playable on our PlayStation five and PlayStation five pro console.

Steve-O: And, And that's smart. That is, that is a company who is, they know what they have.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: Sony has been doing the third person single player saga stories perfectly for almost eight years now, starting with God of war.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: I would even, mean there might be even like before that too, that I can't think of, but you know,

JohhnyCAGE: I mean, Uncharted, Lasso, God of War, like...

Steve-O: Yeah, like Last of Us, you're right.

JohhnyCAGE: like

Steve-O: So, like, 2013. So, for, like, two console generations, like, they've dominated that for, like, their identity. And it's something that Xbox wants so bad. Like, as we were talking with Senua, like, they they want that so bad they just can't do it.

Steve-O: And all of their other games end up being these very same feely first-person shooter style games.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: So... It's just something where it's like, dude, it's Wolverine this time. It's not Spider-Man. It's Wolverine. And that's sick.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Yeah. That's sick. Spider-Man was sick and now it's Wolverine's turn to be sick. and

Steve-O: Who do they do next? Do they do they do Iron Man? Captain America? Like. They can do them all, right?

JohhnyCAGE: I mean, think possibly, right? It's like... who It's just like it needs to be popular enough that... You know what? I i hate to say it.

JohhnyCAGE: And it's basic. I'd love an iron an Insomniac Iron Man game. Because you take...

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: You take the gunplay from like a Raction to Clank. I'm not saying like silly, but like you take the imagination of a Raction Clank like Arsenal and then you just add like, well, yes, he's not webbing around, but he's flying around. Like, I feel like you could really do you could really do something with that.

Steve-O: but Yeah, you could make that magical.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, man. But, like, I mean, how can you not want them to team up in next one, you know?

Steve-O: Yeah, yeah, it's...

JohhnyCAGE: he's going to kick him with four. Oh, it's going to be so sick. Oh, no. He's going to do it.

Steve-O: It's a perfect formula. like they insomniac Insomniac did, um like you said, Ratchet and Clank. What else have they done?

JohhnyCAGE: ah

Steve-O: They did the, um though what's it called, games? The ah infamous games, right?

JohhnyCAGE: ah No.

Steve-O: Or am I wrong?

JohhnyCAGE: that was Sucker Punch.

Steve-O: No. Soccer Punch. What are they doing?

JohhnyCAGE: That the ghost. They did Ghost of Yotei, Ghost of Tsushima.

Steve-O: you know okay I feel like that's a downgrade.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: um Ghost of... I'd say no, but Ghost of Yotei is kind of like, okay. Because Ghost of Tsushima, I loved.

JohhnyCAGE: i was like, yeah, man, this this rules. I loved it. What a surprise, you know, fresh new universe. Like, it's not infamous, but like, you know, it's it's great.

JohhnyCAGE: It's great on its own. Like, truly love Ghost Tsushima.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Ghost of Yotei felt it's like an evolution of Tsushima, but it kind of like wasn't enough.

Steve-O: Mm.

Steve-O: Mm. Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: And like, I just didn't like the story nearly as much. And I was like, okay, okay.

Steve-O: That's fair.

JohhnyCAGE: And now I'm at a point where like I still think it's a really good game above average for sure. But like, yeah, like a little disappointing just because like it's like the gameplay.

JohhnyCAGE: evolution didn't match with this plot evolution neat like the story it just played like very the story is very kind of generically revenge filled which is okay but like there's really not that much else going on in there uh i'm ashamed the gameplay is better like objectively but it's tough um

Steve-O: Okay.

Steve-O: Mm

JohhnyCAGE: So they're at a point where like if they announce like a third Ghosts game, I would be like, I'd really rather you guys have done like a different thing or go back to Infamous, right?

Steve-O: hmm.

Steve-O: Right. It kind of like devalues like the previous games in the ghost series.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, like I'd love to go back at some point.

Steve-O: Mm hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: It's just for a third go ahead, like I don't know, maybe do something else.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Insomniac though, they, Spyro,

Steve-O: Oh, yeah, yeah. Wait, hold on. Wasn't there a new Spyro announcement for Xbox?

JohhnyCAGE: Yes, but that's me yeah but that's ah made by Toys Bob.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: think the the what that the the toyster games like

Steve-O: Toys for Bobs.

JohhnyCAGE: toys for bob

Steve-O: Toys for Bob. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah. so and it like I don't mean to be that guy, but it looked like a fancy mobile game.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: It didn't look super impressive, but they did Spyro, then Rackshit, and then Rackshit for like another 17 games.

JohhnyCAGE: Sunset Overdrive.

Steve-O: Oh, okay. You know what?

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: Dude, they can make any game they want now. They officially...

JohhnyCAGE: More Rackshit.

Steve-O: More Ratchet.

JohhnyCAGE: and And then it went to Spider-Man.

Steve-O: spiderman Spider-Man just gave them the unlimited money cheat code.

JohhnyCAGE: Spider-Man 2.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, which apparently they spent all of it on Spider-Man 2.

Steve-O: And... On Wolverine. Oh, on Spider-Man 2. Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: And now somehow lost money on that.

Steve-O: That makes sense.

JohhnyCAGE: or Yeah, however they they want that to sound. Yeah, yeah. So after Wolverine and Somniac Man, I really kind of want them to...

JohhnyCAGE: They probably... maybe Give me that Venom game, bro. I wanted that. I was really excited.

Steve-O: That would be cool. That would be very cool.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. And Spider-Man 2. Like, Spider-Man 2 is a lesser, is a less egregious version of Ghost of Yote. Like, Spider-Man 2 is so good, but it's like we expected it to be really good, and it was really good, but it didn't blow your mind good, like how the first Spider-Man was, because of the X-Factors.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, it's the first time I'm playing Spider-Man in, you know, a decade, and it feels great.

Steve-O: Also, they had like the Miles Morales.5 that like released.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, and that was great. That is great, you know?

Steve-O: That is, yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. um yeah

Steve-O: ah Christmas game, too, which is weird.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, but Wolverine Man, I have like literally September 15th.

Steve-O: Dude, when's it come out again?

Steve-O: that's one of the That's one of the before GTA Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah, that's that's like, yeah that's one of the, like, you want to stay away from Wolverine?

Steve-O: like releases right

JohhnyCAGE: So all like the end of September, so loaded with ah with stuff. um And to me, this is a this is a PTO game.

JohhnyCAGE: This is like, I'm calling out.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm just going to play Wolverine all day. Do not bother me.

Steve-O: That's honestly, I think that would be a fun thing if we sort of add that into our reviews where it's like this is a PTO movie or game or show or something.

JohhnyCAGE: game. I mean, yeah, I mean, I've I've definitely i've had a few, i think. don't know. Did I have one? i think I had one earlier this year. Why am I blanking on it?

Steve-O: Oh, what was it? I do remember you talking about that.

JohhnyCAGE: It was it was loaded up, loaded up, please.

Steve-O: Must not have been good. Must not have been.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, the resume. Requiem.

Steve-O: Oh, Requiem. Yes. Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Which, yeah. You know, I was like, okay, i don't bother me. I'm doing all this. But, ah yeah.

Steve-O: I know I'm jumping a little bit here, but speaking about Requiem, Resident Evil, we're back already.

JohhnyCAGE: Dude. Dude.

Steve-O: Dude. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: There's not, there's not a there hasn't been a better developer.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: in the last two generations. I really don't think anyone's been able to top Capcom. They announced games. They don't get delayed.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: They're an 80 or above easy on Metacritic. One game notwithstanding, and also you're just being a baby about it if you're talking about Resident Evil 3 Remake.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, you're just being a baby. Like, it's still really high quality.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: But, like, 80 or above, the the workflow...

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: of whatever they have there, I'm not going to act like they're not crunching and pretend like they're not, but like whatever they're doing there, like they should literally give seminar, like there was like game developer conferences, like the real ones, like GDC and shit, like they should be like, this is our workflow because whatever they got going on there is crazy.

Steve-O: Yeah.

Steve-O: They need to explain their workflow, there're the amount of teams they have.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. How, how are you doing this? What are your milestones look like? Yeah.

Steve-O: and I think most importantly, I think they're marketing. i think they need to they explain to some of these big time game developers. Don't put people in these like year long like waits for a game.

Steve-O: Just be like, hey, this one's coming out in six months. Here's the date. Here's when it is.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. and like and And it's like, on top of your workflow, announce it, and it's like, it's coming out. Yeah. Because, like, Capcom's been on such a crazy run.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Requiem, Pragmata, Capcom, or Capcom, Onimusha confirmed this year. you Haters. Haters didn't believe me. um But it's like, yeah, and they announced a new Code Veronica.

JohhnyCAGE: And it looks sick. And it's like,

JohhnyCAGE: It's just like, you know, it's not infinite money. They just have such a crazy pipeline and they're like, and like, we're not even counting Street Fighter and stuff like that, which again.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah,

Steve-O: No, street fighter DLC monster hunter stories, I think released this year too. Right.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah yeah. Monster Hunter DLC was announced. Street Fighter DLC was announced and it's like you're doing all these things and not just one type of game, Pragmata. Onimusha Resident Evil like similar but different you know it's like it's not just the Resident Evil show I mean yes could Devil May Cry get more love of course but like it's DMC5 isn't super old and it was it was very good um and you know I'm over here going where's

Steve-O: right

JohhnyCAGE: Mega Man Leggins wears Dino Crisis.

Steve-O: Yeah, no, same, honestly.

JohhnyCAGE: And again, that just speaks to their their IP, frankly, like to be that guy. But it just...

Steve-O: I think that might be their the one series that Capcom kind of has faltered on was Mega Man. When they did that Mega Man announcement ah in the Games Award, like 2025, it should have been Mega Man Legends 3.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. like I'm happy to see it, but yeah. i'm like Or just a different type of thing. I don't know. like They're

Steve-O: Resident Evil engine, RE engine.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, like, hey, I get it. Maybe you could be like oh, they use it for everything, but it's a sick engine, dude.

Steve-O: It works. It works.

JohhnyCAGE: And it works.

Steve-O: It makes good games.

JohhnyCAGE: And it clearly, you're able to work with it very easily because because it's like your crazy pipeline.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: I just, I don't know. I think we should be willing to explore a third-person Mega Man game again.

Steve-O: That would be an open world.

JohhnyCAGE: then just call it Legends 3. And then

Steve-O: Yeah. Or even like maybe like a Metroidvania Mega Man.

JohhnyCAGE: a then

JohhnyCAGE: Or hey, hey, yeah, yeah, or that or like if we're acting crazy, and we're doing all these remakes. What have we remade Mega Man Legends one and two?

Steve-O: that would add that That's something I've been waiting for for so long.

JohhnyCAGE: Remaster it with two analog sticks. So it's it's a slightly modern game.

Steve-O: i don't need I don't need another Gears of War remake. I don't need these games that have come out within the past five years getting remakes.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: Mega Man Legends 1 and 2. Devin, you are so right about that.

JohhnyCAGE: Just, yeah, just let me walk around, use the third, use the other analog stick to move the camera because that wasn't a thing then.

Steve-O: Yeah.

Steve-O: it No, and the funny thing is, I feel like the Mega Man Legends art style has become its own like art movement.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah, and it, yeah, it aches really well, and yeah.

Steve-O: Yeah, it's beautiful.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, I know.

Steve-O: We're just sitting here getting mad about Mega Man Legends getting abused.

JohhnyCAGE: It's bad, really bad. Um... Real quick, slightly back on track. um Do you did you play you play the diver, right? was that Galani?

Steve-O: I have David the Diver. I've never I've never played it.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, that was Galani that he was.

Steve-O: Yeah, I think John played it too.

JohhnyCAGE: OK, okay yeah. Bang Joe, the chef. Cool, I guess I bounced off it, dude. I really did. I wanted to like it, but I was just in a weird funk and just like nothing was hitting.

Steve-O: That's fair. I mean, like, I think there's this reality we need to face sometimes where like some games, most games you're not going to beat.

JohhnyCAGE: Dude, I mean, yes, I'm slowly, I'm just now getting comfortable with like not forcing myself through games. I'm not feeling like i i said I said the other week, like I wasn't really feeling Nina or Mina.

JohhnyCAGE: I haven't touched it I used to be playing Star Rebel Outlaws, which I know is not a as good of a game, but like I'm enjoying playing it way more. And I'm like, sorry, dude.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: like Sorry. But, yeah, I don't...

Steve-O: I think, you know, that's the thing where it's like play, play what's fun to you in that moment.

JohhnyCAGE: mean

Steve-O: There's going to be games that people will swear up and down is the best, most fun experience. And it's just not going to be your jam. Like, you know, if you don't like souls games, don't force yourself to play souls games. Like, you know, play what you like.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Let's see. Let's see. Let's see. Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis remake a Tomb Raider one, which is a game.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: I have like a weird fascination with that game because i had we had Tomb Raider. We played the shit out of it. But like, obviously I was garbage at it because I was like eight and that game is weird.

Steve-O: Same. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And at some point, like you're not fighting like the devil, but like you're fighting a demon. You start with fighting a T-Rex. Sick.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: And then at the end, you're fighting like a demon, which is cool. But like everything in between, i just have zero memory of.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: And I thought it was weird even then that she was like, I care for sports. And I'm like, that seems fucked up. That's for your villain. That's a villain thing.

JohhnyCAGE: But hey, she had two guns and she had triangle titties. So I was slightly invested.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Can't act like i wasn't, but... and I'm open to it. I'm open to it. And that a Tomb Raider is February 2020. Oh, that got delayed, I think.

Steve-O: Oh, OK.

JohhnyCAGE: Because Tomb Raider, they were doing a thing where they were doing the remake of the first one and a new one.

Steve-O: Dang.

JohhnyCAGE: And they were going to come out like within like six months of each other.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Now, I'm not quite sure because I don't know how much that sense that makes if.

Steve-O: Mm.

Steve-O: They are not Capcom.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. And like. Yeah, even Capcom's not releasing two Resident Evil games in the same year. You know what I'm saying?

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, that new one might get pushed back.

Steve-O: They know they know how to get their money.

JohhnyCAGE: ah Yeah, I just want to make quick comment about Phantom Blade Zero. This game went from being so cool looking, like where i was like, dude, Phantom Blade Zero so cool looking.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm so interested.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: To them showing like a three-minute trailer in every possible show. And it's still not coming out until like Q4. And I'm kind of sick of it. And I'm like, I would be like, oh, this looks super sick to them. Just they're showing way too much of it.

JohhnyCAGE: And I'm just like, I just die.

Steve-O: Yeah. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Now you're just another. Now you're just irritating. I'm irritated. I saw you because that means you're not something that I really didn't want to see. You know, I'm like, you could have been Heretic Prophet, but you're not.

JohhnyCAGE: You're fan of Blade Zero. So how now mad.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: ah Let's see. Anything else outside of, I think, the big one? There was Onimusha we talked about. I played that demo.

Steve-O: Oh, how was it?

JohhnyCAGE: Very good. um I do have a similar complaint i think everybody has, though. Is um the... difficulty is this extremely swingy like the mobs are dumb easy they're like dummy easy and also they're not nearly aggressive enough because a lot of the what can make the combat really pop off is the parry system and like the animation like the animations are great when he does like cool parries and things like that and the isin system which is like

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: Right before they hit you, you kind of like do a quick dodge and cut them in half really the quick. But like the enemies will just like. Feels like 20 seconds will go by before somebody swings at you and then you're like come on. And then I got to the boss at the end of the demo and he killed me like 20 times in a row. And I was like, I hate this. Like, what the hell's happening?

JohhnyCAGE: So ah demos, I think, everywhere. um I do recommend checking it out.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: It's pretty pretty sick. We've got Silent Hill Townfall, which think i asked you, and I think you big-timed me, aka didn't respond.

Steve-O: You asked me if I finished F and I never did.

JohhnyCAGE: Did you ever finish f This sounds like you're you were making excuses for it. You were like, maybe it's not. Maybe it's cool to not beat games.

Steve-O: No, I just, yeah, I guess you're right. But like the thing is, it's like, I think my interest in F kind of just like petered out really quick.

JohhnyCAGE: Maybe. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. I will say i was, i was feeling F F kind of came out a, in a bad time for me.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Um, and then I heard like, you kind of have to beat F like four times in a row, like get the real ending or whatever.

Steve-O: I hate games that do that, ma'am.

JohhnyCAGE: And I'm like, and I, I, And I don't know if it's different endings or the real ending. You know, I didn't do enough research, but I will say like, yes, when I beat Silent Hill 2 remake, which again is very good and worth your time.

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: And i know that there are different endings, but like i' they're not so different that I'm like, oh, I got to beat all four to get to the real one.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: But I just like the thought of fucking beating. I will do again. i was like, dude, not on your life. Like, this was a heavy game, man. Like, look.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: yes Yes, I get a chainsaw.

Steve-O: Like that's a big ask.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, like, and then it's not very obvious, like, what you need to do to get the different endings, and it's, I don't know.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: I just wasn't super into it, but Townfall looks good.

Steve-O: Townfall looks good. i you know, I don't think it's on like the same level as silent Hill two, but you know, it could be cool.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, I mean, are you, like, all right, so, like, Two came out. F came out.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Are you kind of like you're good on the town fall? Or do you think Fair.

Steve-O: um I might have a little like Silent Hill fatigue almost.

Steve-O: Like, you know, yeah I get i get it The town is scary.

JohhnyCAGE: Fair enough.

JohhnyCAGE: It's a spooky town.

Steve-O: this is boy down

JohhnyCAGE: That's like a spooky fish town. Who knows?

Steve-O: The town's fallen. Yeah,

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. All right. Fair enough. ah Let's see.

Steve-O: yeah it looked cool, though, so.

JohhnyCAGE: This might still be. i struggled to find a

JohhnyCAGE: a better. What's the word I'm looking for? Like ah a better kind of like dark horse fun surprise announcement than stuntman Hollywood.

Steve-O: Oh my god, Devin. i You know I love Stuntman.

JohhnyCAGE: I was tickled pink, dude.

Steve-O: I am so happy.

JohhnyCAGE: I was like. I was like what is that? And then and then when I like rewatched it, because I was like, oh, that's the car from Fast and the Furious. That's the car from ah ah not Mad Max. What the hell's the other one? ah Death Race.

Steve-O: m

JohhnyCAGE: That's the car from Miami vice. That's kit from night. Right. You know, like was like, what is going on here?

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: And then once they announced stunt man, I was like, Oh, that's so cool. Because one, ah feel like you can. Yeah. Like you played stunt man. I played stunt man.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: We tried to play stuntman at your house, but then some scary guy came over with pizza and demanded we play Gauntlet Legends.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, and ah hate to say it, but I'm like, all I can think about is, like, the DLC, dude. I'm like, oh, my God.

Steve-O: Oh, the DLC is going to be sick.

JohhnyCAGE: This game pops off. Like, oh, the options that you could have, man.

Steve-O: Mm hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, you could have Mad Max. You could have, ah you know, throw Batmobile in there.

Steve-O: Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, are you kidding me? Like, this is going to be so sick. Like, and I played... um I can't think of the name of the game because it was like it was a racing game where you like it was kind of like a movie set but it was like you could change the environment right and it's like yeah

Steve-O: Oh, I remember that game where you could hit buttons and there was like smoke towers that would like blow up and fall down into the track.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah and then like the next lap is like the Statue of Liberty has exploded and now you're driving through the remnants of it because you got enough points or whatever to set it off and Like, yeah, I don't know.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, I just, I, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Steve-O: Split second.

JohhnyCAGE: Split second. So, like, if it's remotely like that, but instead, you know, like, hit this jump. And I think some of the fun of Stuntman is, like, nailing the exact trick, but also kind of, like, adding your own little flavor with, like, your little mess ups and things like that.

JohhnyCAGE: But, I mean, the problem with Stuntman was just, it was punishing.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: It was very much like you have to do this.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, Driver 1, it was so hard to do.

Steve-O: exactly Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: But this is this is so cool because like you're saying, they have the things from the movies like, you know, they they have the Back to the Future car. They have Kit from Knight Rider.

Steve-O: They they're they're actively like they're not making up their own things. It's not like here's our ode to the James Bond movie. It's like we can actually get that license.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah, James Bond. You can throw that fucking Aston Martin in there, dude. Like, I'm very excited.

Steve-O: Mm hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: And it was just like, never in a million years would have thought of stuntman oh yeah you know we stick stuntman uh i mean we're on a pretty good run of like shit i was really into ill i am wildly invested in i just think it's the coolest looking game like i don't know whatever graphics engine they're using is really doing it for me because like everything's super gross looking

Steve-O: Yeah, in 2026. Stuntman. that man

JohhnyCAGE: And are like, oh, the voice acting is bad. I'm like, I don't care, dude. Like, that guy's head. I cut off that dude's head and then a spider legs came out of it. It's like a thing game, you know?

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And the combat. and it just as The monsters are grody and gross. And everything looks... ah just You punch a dead zombie baby? Like, whatever the hell is going on in it? Like, everything about this was sick.

JohhnyCAGE: So I was like, yes, yes, please. Control resonance. um that's a late September game um yeah it's like uh I I replayed Alan Wake 2 this year and I'm just like I'm in in the mood and I really liked Control i didn't love the plot I was a little irritated with the plot of Control because like

Steve-O: That's going to be so exciting. That's a part of the, yeah, the September killer list.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: I hate redactions and the game has so many redacted folders, like, you know, documentation.

Steve-O: Yeah, that game's all about the redactions when you're reading the lore and stuff.

JohhnyCAGE: It's just like, because every time I read a ah document, I'm just like, it's redacted. So then I spend like 10 seconds trying to figure out what it actually says. Despite knowing it's like, it's just move on. Who cares?

JohhnyCAGE: But um I can't, I'm like stuck on this. um

Steve-O: but What would this say?

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, but like the comment and the whole vibe of Control was really cool. So to see Control Resonant,

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And we've talked about it a bunch already, but like the combat system, the third per person combat, I'm like, okay, I'm, I don't know because, you know, it's remedy hasn't really, they're not really known for that, but it looks cool.

JohhnyCAGE: And I'm just down for an expansion of the control universe that just expands into everything, right? Like,

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: That expands into Alan Wake, and then Alan Wake expands into Control, and then that's going to expand into whatever else they're working on, and I'm just... It's like, I just want all of their games to succeed so they can just keep being weird and making more weird games.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: um Psy-Half's pretty cool. Onomushi Dawn Dreams. Neat. It just isn't Onomushi 3.

JohhnyCAGE: Until Dawn 2 was a fun little surprise.

Steve-O: I didn't expect that.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, and I like that. I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but it's like, I dig that it's not the original developer. I say I dig it, right?

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: a lot of times that's a concern, but it's like, if they're too busy or they don't want to work on it because like technically Sony owns until dawn, I think, like they own the IP, but if the original developer is like, we can't, we're too busy or like we're not willing or whatever the reason is, they're like, fine, we'll just hire a new company, Fire Sprite.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't know what they've done before. And obviously, who knows? But it's like, don't know, looked cool. It looked good.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And I was into it. And I was like, oh, what a fun little surprise. um And then we ended on the new God of War, Laofei.

Steve-O: Ooh. Hell yes.

JohhnyCAGE: You hated it because she's a lady, right?

Steve-O: no. no

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, no, bro. What?

Steve-O: I hated it because it's going to be just on PlayStation 5. So another reason for me to have to dust off my PlayStation.

JohhnyCAGE: Scrape scrap the mud off your PS5.

Steve-O: dude, I watched.

JohhnyCAGE: lift Lift the table that you're using to hold up your be like a keep your table for wobbling.

Steve-O: Yeah, I'm like, now I need to find something to hold the table up. Damn it. um

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah.

Steve-O: I watched a video that someone edited together of in ah God of War Ragnarok, the fight against Thor.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, yeah, yeah.

Steve-O: And like he blinks out and then he blinks into the Lafay trailer.

JohhnyCAGE: It's...

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, which I mean, the timeline doesn't quite add up because she's like been dead for about 40 for five minutes.

Steve-O: Lafay. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And that's a Ragnarok.

Steve-O: Well, that's the thing. When you're dead, there's no time. There's no time.

JohhnyCAGE: That's hey, I get it. I get it. um You know what? Some weird takes on this. I have my own weird take, but outside the obvious, right?

JohhnyCAGE: Like she's a lady and I hate that. It's like, okay.

Steve-O: I am playing. a I'm a video game player. I can't see women.

JohhnyCAGE: I didn't, I was reading takes of that. People are like, I think it was a mistake to make this like a 20 minute, you know, blob of gameplay. I'm like, what?

JohhnyCAGE: Like, why? Like, I don't know.

Steve-O: I have never heard that.

JohhnyCAGE: i just, I thought everything looked great. I, it's rumored, but I think something Schreier said something along the lines of like, this might be sooner than you think.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, I don't know. That can mean anything, right? That's just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't think this means like it's like a 2027 game, but if this could potentially come out next year, i think that's pretty great.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: But my take is I don't like the... I don't love the cube.

Steve-O: Oh, the slime cube, the voice by Jack Quaid, I believe.

JohhnyCAGE: Frank, the cube. Um... I like Jack Quaid.

Steve-O: like Jack Quaid too.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm excited to fall in love with the cube. But right now...

Steve-O: I'm going to hit you with with the same thing, Devin.

JohhnyCAGE: Really?

Steve-O: i'm a little I'm a little concerned.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay, what's your concern?

Steve-O: Yeah. That I because it's that's a D&D thing.

JohhnyCAGE: Is it stupid? it just a stupid cube?

Steve-O: That's not like a Greek or ah um what's the Odin and Thor one?

JohhnyCAGE: Okay, okay, yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Worst.

Steve-O: Norse like mythology.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, and listen, yeah, the everyone, it's like the, it's where the gods die, where they go when the gods die. So it's it could be anything. I just, I just, um my thing is like, I just don't, I think it's like boring design.

JohhnyCAGE: It's just the cube, like that's the joke.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: The joke for 30 hours is going to be like, he's of cube.

Steve-O: right

JohhnyCAGE: He's a gelatinous of cosmic cube, which is like, I don't know. i just, it felt like, I said this somewhere, but like, it feels like they had a placeholder for whatever this character was going to be.

JohhnyCAGE: And then somebody's like, wouldn't it be funny if you just stayed at a queue? And some guy was like, say that again. it was like, no, dude, like, I don't know.

JohhnyCAGE: The character design of it just being a cube and that being, i don't say the joke, like they're allowed to be jokey. And I don't even know if like, it's going be, not saying it's going to be like MCU style, but it's just like the whole, if this thing's going to be with me for 30 hours and it's just a fucking cube, like maybe I'm just not being fun, but it's just something irritates me about it.

Steve-O: Right.

Steve-O: It's hard to top my mirror.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, and he was ahead, and that's unique-ish, you know?

Steve-O: Now, what if at some point they find Mimir's body and the head just uses Mimir's body as ah as a thing?

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: I mean, i like, dude, the concept is so cool because it's like you open up so many doors because, like you said, time could be moving differently.

JohhnyCAGE: um she could run into her dad, a.k.a. Zeus. She could run into all the gods that Kratos has murdered ah throughout his time.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: And that could be really interesting. And that also kind of makes sense if they're doing the remakes, you know, because then you could have a little bit of a cohesion there for whatever reason.

Steve-O: Yes. Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, that's all neat. And plus, whatever's going on, because like what I love specifically about this trailer is like, There's like three underlying plot lines happening all at once.

JohhnyCAGE: And you're like, I can't figure out I don't know what's going on, but I'm interested in everything. Like she gets captured. That's interesting. Where is she? Okay. Oh, she gets captured by these other, you know, this mix, this like Tibetan God of War and this Egyptian God of War.

JohhnyCAGE: And then like some light gets shown off in the distance and they're like, we got to deal with this.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: And you're like, well, what's that about? And then there's this sword in a cube and that is important, you know, for whatever reason. And like, they're like, you don't know what that sword is. And I'm like, what was, what about the sword? And i just love all these little, like, they're just teasing me with all these threads. And I'm just like, oh, I'm invested every single one of these. Plus the sword is so cool because it's got the little ribbon attack things. And it's just the design I think is is awesome.

JohhnyCAGE: um And I think the game's going to be great. Yeah. I just also my my theory and I will stand on this if I'm right. I will gloat.

JohhnyCAGE: I have a feeling that the cube might turn into a guilty spark situation where it's like a well mannered

Steve-O: Oh.

JohhnyCAGE: right in its own head type of thing, but you eventually have to kill it because it's like, no, I, I have to protect everyone. Cause he's like, i he has his the cubes.

JohhnyCAGE: Like i want to protect all life or whatever it's for whatever reason. Right. But it's like, I feel like your agendas are going to come to a head and you're gonna have to fucking murder this cube.

Steve-O: I think you might be right.

JohhnyCAGE: And you're not going to want to.

Steve-O: and

JohhnyCAGE: Right.

Steve-O: That would be really interesting.

JohhnyCAGE: But yeah. Yeah.

Steve-O: Okay. ah You know what, Devin? You've got that. Pencil that in.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: If that happens, you're allowed to do a whole gloat dance.

JohhnyCAGE: hencefor at end Yeah, I'm going to gloat, dude. But... I mean, listen. State of play. Starting with Wolverine. Ending with God of War. Yeah, there's some there's some stuff in the middle. It's like, okay, scoop, scoop, scoop. But like... to me, man, this is as ah as close to ah an A as I can... Maybe maybe like a B+. plus

Steve-O: I'm, you know, I'm with you on that. I was thinking, i was thinking a myself, so.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay. All right. C and And then we'll ah just jump right into the the titular tiular week, Summer Game Fest.

Steve-O: Yeah, like.

Steve-O: Mm hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: And you talked about it.

Steve-O: Summer game festival, baby.

JohhnyCAGE: You talked about it already, but Resident Evil Veronica, which was kind of more of a a Capcom bloat fest, really.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: But

JohhnyCAGE: So I love the tease of like, there was a, I don't know how much, like how many, I've rewatched it like four times, but like, you know, it's first person, they're in Paris. So I'm like, what, I really, yeah i thought it was a Kogema game.

JohhnyCAGE: And then when she, the older woman takes you, she's like, yeah, your brother's really weird. And then the how the room is all dirty. and She's like, oh, it's like a boulder ran through here.

JohhnyCAGE: I was like, wait a second.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm. Hold on.

JohhnyCAGE: Hold on. And it looks like she was captured by Hunk.

Steve-O: that's That's kind of what it it seems like.

JohhnyCAGE: Dude, Hunk was fucking with Leon's future wife, dude.

Steve-O: All right, Chris Redfield Jr., come on.

JohhnyCAGE: You kidding me You kidding me?

Steve-O: I've been hearing people say, like, do you think the old woman worked for Umbrella? And I'm like...

JohhnyCAGE: it's too much.

Steve-O: You think that's too, because there's a part where they go into the building and they're like, oh, you think your brother wanted us to have these like chocolates?

JohhnyCAGE: She's a nice old lady.

Steve-O: And I was like, do you think that's like the old lady was trying to get Claire to have one of the chocolate?

JohhnyCAGE: the chocolates were like another nod to something I wasn't but like, maybe like an RE eight or something.

Steve-O: I think they were like laced with something. And then Claire, Claire, the dumbest person in the world, looks through a peephole, sees nothing, opens the door.

JohhnyCAGE: Maybe.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh man, dude.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: So, so I, I famously never played Veronica. I remember I played a little bit of it, but it's like, it's really hard.

Steve-O: Oh.

JohhnyCAGE: And I was like, I don't know.

Steve-O: It is very hard.

JohhnyCAGE: I just,

Steve-O: There is a point in the original game where if you don't do something in the right order, there is literally a hard lock spot where you cannot progress.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. I just remember like I had. So the thing that always irked me about Code Veronica is it gave me dual wielding guns, but it had like the normal amount of Resident Evil bullets, especially in the beginning.

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: and I was like, how are you allowed to give me two guns, but about eight bullets between the two? this is bullshit.

Steve-O: That was like the sell point for that game too. It was like the pictures of like the dual pistols and the dual Uzis.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. And. I don't know if you're, yeah you know, I don't know if you're like me, but I was, I was looking up some of that character design. was, you know, but she's got the two holsters and I was like, sick.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Um, yeah. And I'm just, I'm very excited to play the one that kind of I don't want to say got away, but it's like, this is the big blind spot.

JohhnyCAGE: I know what happens, right?

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Um, But like Veronica was always the one that like made me mad that I didn't get into it because I was like, there's so much cool shit that so much cool stuff and important stuff that happens in the lore.

JohhnyCAGE: You know, you're like, yeah, like I didn't realize you played as Chris until years later.

Steve-O: It's very important.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: um You know, Steve Birdseid sucked, but like, I don't know. I didn't realize like Steve Burnside turns into a fucking monster and you have to murder him later.

JohhnyCAGE: ah

Steve-O: Mm-hmm. You have the...

JohhnyCAGE: Wesker fighting and and like a boss fighting another boss, you know, and like.

Steve-O: Yeah. And and like this is this is the one where you find out Wesker was still alive and had powers.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, so live and i in the Matrix. Yeah, he was the Matrix, dude.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And I was like, this is so godam And then, you know, four comes out and you do you do nothing.

Steve-O: It's damn cool.

JohhnyCAGE: You get nothing from it.

Steve-O: Nothing.

JohhnyCAGE: Nothing. And then five. And then finally. But, like, dude, when did Code Veronica come out? Let's see.

Steve-O: Code Veronica came out 1999 2000, want to say because it came out on the I would

JohhnyCAGE: Code Veronica.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay. So, I'm not reading. Oh, my God. My fingers.

JohhnyCAGE: Code Veronica.

Steve-O: february third two thousand

JohhnyCAGE: And then RE5 was... remember these days. was 2009.

JohhnyCAGE: So you had to go... dude you had to go from 2000 and be like, yo, Whiskers, we're doing Matrix flips and doing dope shit. You had to wait nine fucking years to see him again in any like major fashion, right?

JohhnyCAGE: Because I don't think he popped up

Steve-O: Mm-hmm. now you Not in four.

JohhnyCAGE: Dude, that's a minute. That is a long, even for like, Resident Evil.

Steve-O: about what He does pop up in four.

JohhnyCAGE: Does he? For a remake, he does.

Steve-O: does't Remake. Dude, that's the thing, dude.

JohhnyCAGE: ah he's like He's like the voice on the other line in the original, but he doesn't do anything, right? He's not like notable. So, yeah, man, that's a minute and a half.

Steve-O: Right. Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And don't know. I'm just excited, which means five 100% coming. we We kind of knew, but it was like, all right five's coming. Five's going sick.

Steve-O: We're going to get like ah a definitely massaged five.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, and then I'm accepting of them ignoring, like them just saying the timeline has now been altered and six doesn't exist.

Steve-O: And here's the thing that I'm. Yeah.

Steve-O: Six never happened. Yeah. Six never happened. Sorry guys.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: um I'm interested because in the beginning of code Veronica, the beginning of code Veronica starts with Claire, like running down umbrellas, European facility.

JohhnyCAGE: can go back to zero. Mm-hmm.

Steve-O: She is running down like a glass corridor with her guns and there's the helicopter.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, yeah, dude, that intro video is sick.

Steve-O: And like, I'm curious because like it starts off in Europe in this. And I know Hunk takes her. ah There's a part of me that's worried that they're not going to have that anymore.

JohhnyCAGE: Maybe I'll just move it somewhere. Because that's just the intro, right? That's like... It's

Steve-O: That's just the intro, but it's like, the problem is it's like, okay, Claire gets captured and, you know, Claire gets captured in this awesome, sick, like helicopter minigun sequence or or, Claire opens a door and gets hung.

JohhnyCAGE: weird because she was like killing real people. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And... and and i I ate some candy and opened the door too quickly.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: What happened?

Steve-O: It's like, Oh no, I ended up on the prison Island.

JohhnyCAGE: ah All right. i You know what? I'm going to harsh your vibes a little bit.

Steve-O: Harsh my vibe.

JohhnyCAGE: What if what if that what if your fear is just a telltale sign of this being the RE3 remake team? Not learning their lesson.

Steve-O: I wouldn't be surprised.

JohhnyCAGE: Not learning their lesson.

Steve-O: I would not be surprised considering that Requiem just came out this year.

JohhnyCAGE: I mean, listen, you could you could say maybe it's that team, but I still have to assume that they have learned their lesson.

Steve-O: It's still going to be fun, though.

JohhnyCAGE: And yeah three was really fun. But like, you know, they're like, OK, we're known as the guys who heard took the only L, even though it's still not it's not an L. Right.

JohhnyCAGE: But like.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: You know, they got something prove if it's that team.

Steve-O: You guys have to prove you got to prove yourself, dude. Because like, that's the thing. Imagine making that a playable sequence in the beginning. That would be wild.

JohhnyCAGE: that's See, that's what I'm thinking. like That should be what happened. It's kind a bummer that it wasn't, but i kind of it makes sense ah back in the day.

Steve-O: Maybe. Hold on. Maybe that's what that is. Maybe hunk takes her. She wakes up in umbrella Europe HQ and then that's her ah escape sequence.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, because Hunk's working for Wesker instead.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: So he's like, all right.

Steve-O: We're staying positive. Let's stay positive about it just because Capcom doesn't miss.

JohhnyCAGE: Yes. No, I mean, they they really, they really haven't. I mean, the only, the only thing that I would say is like an objective miss was that weird dinosaur game that they came out with that everybody was like, this is a Dino crisis.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: So we're bad. And then it turns out it wasn't, it was like kind of a live service seat type game anyway. So it's like easy miss.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: Right. But.

Steve-O: no

JohhnyCAGE: ah untitled cuphead sequel and kind of combined it with a ah ah look like a eight 16-bit cuphead adventure game which is i mean cuphead was very easily not my jam i was like this is gorgeous i'm never gonna play this like too too hard too angry um

Steve-O: That's cool.

Steve-O: Right.

Steve-O: If they released a Cuphead game that wasn't a make-you-mad game and just made a Cuphead in the style of like a 16-bit platformer that was fun for the people who didn't want to like bang their head against their desk.

JohhnyCAGE: Here's the problem, though. I think that 816-bit or whatever adventure game, I think that's still going hard as shit.

Steve-O: Oh, man. Okay, they're right.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't think it's going to be fun. i Let me say...

Steve-O: The platforming segments were a hard in Cuphead, too.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Well... It's neat. It's cool. We've got Alien Isolation 2, which is...

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Alright.

Steve-O: That's a big deal.

JohhnyCAGE: um i was I was pretty worked up on this Gen Atlus game.

Steve-O: That's awesome.

JohhnyCAGE: This is the... Last Guardian. This is the eco. This is the um the that that really good one that I can't think of in the middle.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

Steve-O: Yeah, the one that everybody loves.

JohhnyCAGE: But shout out the classes. Yeah.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Shout out the classes. But dude it's like weird mech shit. flying Flying around the head. Punching other mechs, shooting stuff with a gun, which is cool. Like i dig that there's a little bit more of a combat element in this.

JohhnyCAGE: i was I was vibing with this one. Pretty good.

Steve-O: This one feels like it should have belonged in the PlayStation one. Like, I just.

JohhnyCAGE: It did, honestly. But...

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: I mean, yeah, so did another game in here that we'll talk about. But um let's see.

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Blood Message. We saw before. And I still think it's kind of neat. I don't even know like how to describe it. Because it looks... It looks like it could be a third person like game.

JohhnyCAGE: um But it also looks like too cinematic to like be that, you know like everything's a cut scene.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And I'm like, I don't know if I've seen a single second of gameplay unless the gameplay is like a like a like an until dawn type deal. Right. Where like everything's kind of like QTEs.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: um I'm probably wrong. like I'm sure that this is kind of like a traditional you know, third person sword fight game, but um it it looks good.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm into it. ah Do you have an opinion on Tupac being in Stranger Than Heaven?

Steve-O: um He's back, and that's the game with the big boy. Fuck.

JohhnyCAGE: No, it's not the game with the big boy. That game's in trouble because they ran out of funding.

Steve-O: They ran out of funding, but Tupac is alive, and maybe Tupac could fund?

JohhnyCAGE: And Snoop Dogg. No, because that's a different game. This is by the Yakuza guys.

JohhnyCAGE: And the other one with the big boy was from a former Yakuza guy.

Steve-O: i love

Steve-O: Oh my God. Then the Yakuza took out that game.

JohhnyCAGE: okay

Steve-O: so okay. so So, stranger than heaven, it's the new Yakuza developer game, basically.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, Stranger Than Heaven is like, hey, we've made Yakuza 1 through 10 or whatever, right?

Steve-O: But it's got Tupac and Snoop in it.

JohhnyCAGE: and but And this is like a weird kind of flashback. Not flashback, but it's like, hey, this is like back in the day.

Steve-O: Is this, are they playing themselves in it?

JohhnyCAGE: But Tupac and Snoop Dogg's in those. No, no, no, they're characters. Because like Snoop Dogg's in it and hes he's got like a gray beard. You know, he's got like a gray dreaded beard and stuff like that.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: So there's there's definitely they're definitely different for sure.

Steve-O: Interesting. That's cool.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: That's cool. Uh, you know,

JohhnyCAGE: I just I just remember seeing Tupac and I was like, is this like an American thing? Like, we're not cool with this. You know what I mean?

Steve-O: I don't know. This is strange, but are you stranger than heaven.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: maybe it Maybe it is in heaven. Maybe Tupac is dead.

JohhnyCAGE: oh He is dead, Steve.

Steve-O: he's Why is he making video games in 2026?

JohhnyCAGE: Wait, what?

Steve-O: Come on, man. Come on.

JohhnyCAGE: You got me there, Steve.

Steve-O: This did not feel like a PlayStation game, did it? Is this the one you were talking about? This isn't.

JohhnyCAGE: Wait, let me see. Did you post it somewhere? Let me look.

Steve-O: No, no, because we were talking about ah the other game feeling like it belonged in the PlayStation state of play.

JohhnyCAGE: No, no, this this very much felt like a Summer Game Fest game.

Steve-O: Okay, I'm waiting for the one.

JohhnyCAGE: like Okay, yeah, this belongs here. Oh, oh i so okay i got I got you.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: I got you. got you. Sorry. I'm just like really quickly trying to find what that what the what the big boy game was. Because there was a few.

Steve-O: I just, you can't Google big boy game.

JohhnyCAGE: i' know.

Steve-O: It just doesn't.

JohhnyCAGE: But I'm pretty sure it was announced at the Game Awards.

Steve-O: Yes, maybe if I type in big boy in the in the games.

JohhnyCAGE: Soulframe, Solasta, Order the Sinkstar, Neo 3. It has like a very, like once I see it, I'll be like, oh, that's it for sure.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, I'm

JohhnyCAGE: ah i'm getting salty now, man. I can't find it. Anyway, um I'll find it. I'll find the big boy game. Because No Law is another big boy game, but that's not it.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh my God, this is going to drive me nuts.

Steve-O: It's going to drive you wild. um They, yeah, so um they're celebrating their 10th anniversary.

JohhnyCAGE: This going to fucking live in my in my brain. Anyway, um let's just power through. Move on so I don't die. Hakes, which looked neat.

JohhnyCAGE: um Is Dead by Daylight? Was essentially a trailer for a future trailer.

JohhnyCAGE: But I like the trailer. i i

Steve-O: yes

JohhnyCAGE: the The vibes were creepy. Uniquely creepy.

Steve-O: There's um there's a a rumor still going around that even though they announced Jason for being the new killer coming up, there's still rumor that they have announcements.

JohhnyCAGE: 614.

JohhnyCAGE: six fourteen

Steve-O: They have stuff in the pipeline for the 10th anniversary.

JohhnyCAGE: Do you think...

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Is there a universe where they just say, we're making two? We're making Dead by Daylight 2.

Steve-O: I don't think so because I think they would lose a ton of the licenses they already have.

JohhnyCAGE: They... Man, they would, yeah.

Steve-O: Like you'd lose Freddie, you'd lose Myers. um

JohhnyCAGE: What if you... What if they're like, we're doing...

Steve-O: I think.

JohhnyCAGE: okay yeah, what do you think?

Steve-O: I think with all the balloon imagery, I think they're hinting at possibly maybe down the line getting Stephen King's it.

JohhnyCAGE: Because I'm just guessing.

Steve-O: I think Pennywise might be a future killer.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay, like Pennywise.

JohhnyCAGE: Fair. Fair enough.

Steve-O: And that's one of like their dream chapters that they've talked about in like years past. And they've always said Stephen King's always like said no to them.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh.

Steve-O: But I think with ah HBO Max.

JohhnyCAGE: Damn, really? Okay, I could see that because like if... Because it's not all clown imagery or like balloons, but like I bet you if you like looked at it, like every image, you could probably maybe find something where it's like...

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Now this is all tied. This is all tied to Stephen King, you know, story.

Steve-O: Right.

Steve-O: They've been trying to like find little hints and other stuff where like someone was like, look, there's like there's like ah a graffiti in the background of this like frame where it it's it's like so it says Steve and there's a crown under it.

Steve-O: And then like I looked at it and I'm like that blatantly says STD that like y'all are trying to reach for straws.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. I mean, and and like and again, like, it's just, it's cool anyway, right? It's just a really neat...

Steve-O: It's cool. it It feels it doesn't feel like something that like belongs in like a summer games or E3, but it is visually like is visually disturbing as fun.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: I was vibing. I was vibing for sure.

Steve-O: Mm hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Uh, let's see what else we got. We got, Warner Shell 2. Cool. Sand. Cool. Assassin's Creed. Black Flag. Resynced. I'm rooting for that one.

Steve-O: Yeah, it sounds like they're doing a lot of work.

JohhnyCAGE: There's some weird, there's some parts where i'm like, God, it looks so much better. And then there's other parts and decisions that they made that I'm like, why?

Steve-O: Mm

JohhnyCAGE: This, this seems stupid.

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Um, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Last Ronin, which is, a re-reminder that they're making a game? <unk> just like...

Steve-O: Was that the triple A game that they said they were going to make?

JohhnyCAGE: who Who's they? um

Steve-O: The turtles like I remember like a few years back there, like we're making a super game.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. like I thought there was like a teaser, like like a single image teaser where they're like, we're in development, and you're like, oh, sick.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: And I think this was kind of it. Yeah.

Steve-O: That's awesome.

JohhnyCAGE: Platinum Games is is working on it as well as what can we call Black Forest Games, which is okay. But it's little frustrating because it's it's basically a logo.

Steve-O: oh

JohhnyCAGE: you know Oh, we didn't we didn't talk about it, but Persona 6 had the same thing. um

Steve-O: Love you.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm not a big Persona guy, but is yeah.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Or maybe we did talk about Who knows? But a Crossfire...

Steve-O: You'll get caught up in the crossfire.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't know if you watch this. The coolest thing about it, frankly, is just like, so it's from a a guy that worked at Naughty Dog and another guy that worked on, what was it, Cod or cot or something, right?

JohhnyCAGE: But they're they kind of vo like they kind of throw it out there as they're like, yeah, this is like technical expertise working with like originality or something like that, right?

Steve-O: I think it is Kadiya.

JohhnyCAGE: Where they're like,

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: We like, it looks gorgeous the way they move because their big hook is like, oh, like they're not just like crouch walking. They're like, they're, they're bodies not, not deforming, but they're, it's reacting appropriately to the deformed terrain, meaning like, oh, the ground isn't just the ground.

JohhnyCAGE: It's, it's rocking. It's wonky. And it's, you know, it's not all just completely even. So like the way they walk and move is very unique.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And I'm like, all right, cool. Like I'm down. I'm down with that. Um, so I, I think a best case scenario for me with this would be like a new spec ops, the line type game.

JohhnyCAGE: We're like, yeah, it's a military shooter with like a weird gimmick, but it's actually like really sick. Um, other than that, i don't know. I'm just like, yeah, it's pretty, uh, and it's third person and I'm always,

Steve-O: They're trying to make crossfire work in the West. The the few times in the past they tried, i don't think it worked, but I think single player story that might get a hook on someone.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: So, yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Like me, yeah. um Star Wars Galactic Racer, which I'm kind of rooting for this one. I'm not a big racing game guy, but this one might get me because it's it's burnout, but with pod racing.

Steve-O: I love those pod races.

JohhnyCAGE: And it's really difficult for me to not be interested in that.

Steve-O: Mm hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm like, oh, that's kind of sick. um Let me see. Is there anything?

Steve-O: How did you feel about the, what was that? Star Wars Zero something?

JohhnyCAGE: Zero Company?

Steve-O: zero Company and at the end they revealed Anakin.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, I don't don know. um its

Steve-O: It looks like it was XCOM.

JohhnyCAGE: It's like an XCOM type game, which I'm not against.

Steve-O: That's about it. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: like I dig that, and like And it's funny because I've been playing Outlaw, Star Wars Outlaw, and Jenny saw this Galactic Racer trailer. Then she saw another trailer for that. She's like, how many different games are there? And I'm like, dude, it's like VIP. It's like VIP to make things out of.

JohhnyCAGE: And I was like, it's cool because you can kind of do whatever you want, but it also kind of makes everything feel a little bit less special.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And like Zero Company is like... It's one of those where it's like in a genre of games that I'm like... passively interested in i'm like yeah i liked xcom but like xcom was really stressful so by the time i got around to xcom 2 i was like i'm out i'm just like i'm out and then you know i i've played other games in that genre but like i will say much like like how hades is kind of like the best example of a genre

Steve-O: Right.

Steve-O: right

JohhnyCAGE: um I feel like XCOM is a really great example of that genre. So when I tried to play other lesser games in as yeah in similar genres, I'm like, no, I'm out. I'm kind of out.

Steve-O: Did you did you play the Marvel one the midnight?

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, I did.

Steve-O: a Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And that's a little it's a little weird because that's a card based type of XCOM type game.

Steve-O: That's weird. Yeah. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And it works. It does work. And it can be very fun. But it takes, like my rant from last week, it like, you gotta like look past it and sit with it a little bit.

JohhnyCAGE: But it's like such a, i I'm telling you right now, the fact that they added cards to that cost them like at least a million sales.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm not even joking. Like, if it was just like XCOM, oh, go here, do this, throw the shit, like hit hit that ability, find a different way to make those mechanics work.

Steve-O: No, I think you're right.

JohhnyCAGE: I think, as but the cards just turned everybody. It turned me off. I got it for, i got it on sale when it was like 20 bucks, you know?

Steve-O: went, make it a deck builder. Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: And i was like, all right, sick. And I grew to very much enjoy it, but it still had, yeah, all the stupid hangups um that i that i that I had with it. So, yeah, pretty cool.

JohhnyCAGE: um Blood the Dawn Walker. This is another game where I was like, oh, this is so cool. And then I've seen it so many times that I'm like,

Steve-O: yeah that's uh that's one of john's early picks in the fantasy draft i believe that was his number two oh okay

JohhnyCAGE: yeah. And this is, I think this is another September game. i gotta I'll look up like the master list, but I think this is another like late September game.

JohhnyCAGE: The weird thing about this that I didn't love is if you watch any of the story trailers, it's like you're in fucking 1700.

Steve-O: hmm

JohhnyCAGE: Sword and shield type stuff, right?

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: ah Like where the the smallpox is is killing everyone. You're that arrow. And then the trailer starts in modern day with him like ubery Uber eating like a fucking packet of blood.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And I'm like, well, like there's been no no hint that we're like

Steve-O: Right. The delivery guy comes in. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, it's not so because he's a vampire. I get it. But it's like, there's been no hint that there's a framing story that's like this or that he was ever going to survive into the modern day.

JohhnyCAGE: And I'm like, are you just spoiling, like, the sequel bait?

Steve-O: they Yeah, they did the Castlevania Lords of Shadow slash Interview with the Vampire ending.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, I'm like, and then they don't, then then the normal, you know, traditional game trailer hits. And I'm like, Are we going to get back to what you just showed?

JohhnyCAGE: Like, what are we, what are we doing guys?

Steve-O: It'd be cool if you played that game in reverse, like if it started modern day and it just kept going back to see why these things were happening.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, maybe, but like, it's just weird because like none of that was ever even breathed on, you know, they didn't mention a single thing of that.

Steve-O: Right. yeah

JohhnyCAGE: So I was like, Oh, okay.

Steve-O: Yeah, it's it's confusing.

JohhnyCAGE: Cool.

Steve-O: It's strange. It feels like ah not what we were shown.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Um, Let's skip a some of these things.

Steve-O: are you skipping the marga story, Devin? Story mode?

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, skipping that. ah You can talk about it. Do you have a take?

Steve-O: that i Everybody's doing a story mode, and also they have a TV show that I really tuned out during.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay, one, that's a trend I enjoy, actually. I'm enjoying a story mode trend.

Steve-O: I love me a story mode.

JohhnyCAGE: I love me a story mode. i like I'm not going to pretend i wasn't completely uninterested in it. I saw the trailer for the show that I was like, is this out? like How long has this been a thing?

JohhnyCAGE: And I didn't. The trailer seemed neat, but I was like, i don't know. But it sounds like.

Steve-O: I'm like that show would have hit in 2020.

JohhnyCAGE: i Shows are hard to make, man. So you watched and you're like, yeah.

Steve-O: ah You know, um I was just like, I just don't really have any Among Us interest. so

JohhnyCAGE: I get it. I get it. um Well, you know what I was interested in?

Steve-O: Hot Wheels.

JohhnyCAGE: no Sonic.

Steve-O: Hedgehog?

JohhnyCAGE: Crossroads.

Steve-O: Oh, yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Crossroads. I'm sorry.

Steve-O: Oh, yes. Oh, this is a this is a a game that I was a big fan of at the end of last year.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, so...

Steve-O: And I did not expect them to announce a season two.

JohhnyCAGE: So, so this is the thing, right? Is I saw they were like season one, Minecraft's Mega Man, which is sick.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: SpongeBob, Turtles, Pac-Man, Avatar.

Steve-O: Avatar.

JohhnyCAGE: ah You don't have to go deep into it, but like, how did you feel? Like, did you feel like those were like cool, like cool tracks, cool cars? Like, did you feel like if they really added something to it?

Steve-O: Um, so I haven't played since SpongeBob got released.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay. Okay.

Steve-O: Uh, but I do remember playing the Minecraft track and being like genuinely blown away by it. Like the way that like the, the course like evolves and changes.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh,

Steve-O: Um, and it was cool. Like, you know, the cars are fun. Um, I, I really want to play the Mega Man stuff. I think the Mega Man level got delayed. Um, but it is coming.

JohhnyCAGE: really?

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Still? Like, still.

Steve-O: it's Dude, that's like a sick lineup where it's like the Turtles, Mega Man.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: It's like, and how do you how do you do more than that? And wow.

JohhnyCAGE: Well. you

Steve-O: Wow, did they mouth open.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, season two, they they were like,

Steve-O: I did not expect to see the big man hanging out in Tokyo.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, Godzilla and Evangelion, which is... um That's a crazy one, dude.

Steve-O: that's a fun That's a fun little thing. Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: And, like, you know... i just... I will say I've always... And, and like, with Mario Kart World arguably dropping the ball and Sonic Racing Cross World at least saying, we at least have this.

Steve-O: Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, something that's gonna... You know, like... I'm just saying...

JohhnyCAGE: there's a Warhammer Warhammer I'm it's not it's not gonna happen but like the door is open that the door will never be open for in Mario Kart you know what I mean like

Steve-O: if they If they do, though, you have to buy it

Steve-O: Mm-hmm. What, um, okay. I want three licenses where if they get it, you'll buy it.

JohhnyCAGE: man okay Warhammer's won Warhammer's won that's um buys buys tough but like

Steve-O: Warhammer one.

Steve-O: bo Buy is tough, but like the things that where you're like, God damn it, I have to play that now.

JohhnyCAGE: I think if there's a a Final Fantasy VII, specifically VII.

Steve-O: Seven. okay

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, man. I want to just be boring and just go with Kingdom Hearts.

Steve-O: You got one more.

JohhnyCAGE: But that's like, it's kind of the same thing. So I'm not going to say that. um

Steve-O: That's just what Smash Bros did.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah And like Kingdom Hearts' his whole thing is like, oh, we're crossing over things. So it's like, what are we doing?

Steve-O: m

JohhnyCAGE: um You know what, though?

Steve-O: What about Resident Evil?

JohhnyCAGE: You know, Marvel.

Steve-O: mar Honestly, that's not a bad poll.

JohhnyCAGE: Marvel? Resident Evil would be sick, too. all right. Let's take out Final Fantasy.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: but Let's take out Warhammer. Because that one, I just do not think.

Steve-O: Warhammer is a given.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. And also, just like the least realistic of of the things. Resident Evil? and or um Marvel, I think.

Steve-O: If

JohhnyCAGE: Are you Star Wars? Like, again, we're getting a little goofy, but like, I think Resident Evil, Marvel.

Steve-O: we're talking about Disney properties, we better get goofy.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Resident Evil, Marvel, and God, what was the other one that mentioned that wasn't Warhammer?

Steve-O: Final Fantasy.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, Fun Fantasy. Yeah, Fun Fantasy.

Steve-O: So I could see you doing like. um

JohhnyCAGE: Marvel's style.

Steve-O: ah You know a Sephiroth and a cloud. And you know they have Chocobos.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Yeah.

Steve-O: Maybe not Sephiroth.

JohhnyCAGE: Chocombo cart.

Steve-O: Sephiroth wouldn't have a Chocobo.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, I mean, like, it's a fucking cart racer. no one

Steve-O: He'd have a big meteor. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, that's the level, right? The meteor is coming, right?

Steve-O: Oh, actually, that would be kind of sick if at the end the meteor hits, but like you have to drive your cars into it to break it.

JohhnyCAGE: That's the track. Yeah. Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah. Like,

Steve-O: You know, Warhammer, that would have been that would be super sick. Like, that's the thing, though, because like with the one where it's like Godzilla and Evangelion, like, where are we going with this?

JohhnyCAGE: Very Japanese. Like, very...

Steve-O: That's very.

JohhnyCAGE: seriously See, that's why I think you got, like, Final Fantasy, maybe, because it's like...

Steve-O: There you got Miku.

JohhnyCAGE: They got...

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, SpongeBob... You know what? maybe Was Year One Western? No, because Mega Man...

Steve-O: Yeah, the Mega Man, Miku.

JohhnyCAGE: Never mind. Yeah, but those three, i'm I'm like, how much? is it on sale? Like, I'm looking for a sale, for sure.

Steve-O: You know what? I'm sure it'll be on sale shortly. But yeah, that was a game that like genuinely like it it tickled.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, I'll pay full price for season one and two. You know what I mean? Like, oh, yeah, yeah, fuck it, fuck yeah.

Steve-O: Yeah, you get the full your full game with all the DLC.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: Yeah, that'd be sick.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. So it's just fun, right? Just really nothing but fun about any of that.

Steve-O: Mm

JohhnyCAGE: And then let's go to another big one with a twofer. And this is why I would like to see this. Now, again, a little frustrating because it's like this is more like a reminder.

Steve-O: but Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Hey, we're still a thing. Wolf Among Us, too.

Steve-O: I know, but ah i still kind of geeked out, though, when I saw it, man.

JohhnyCAGE: So cool. Yeah, no.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: it's cool And this, like, I'm not saying it's gameplay, but it's like, it's more than we've ever gotten before. And I'm like, cool. Yes, sure. And it's And they doubled it up with a remaster. Like, hey, to keep you warm, because we we know to keep you warm. ah here's Here's the remastered.

JohhnyCAGE: And I've played Wolf Among Us probably two or three times through this point.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: But I'm always... Hell yeah. Like, just, yeah. If if a long-awaited sequel is coming out, remaster the first game.

Steve-O: Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: And then drop it. Like, make it available.

Steve-O: Mm

JohhnyCAGE: Let's refresh. Get new fans. Do whatever. And that is... not I don't think there's a date for that, but they said it's this year.

JohhnyCAGE: Alright.

Steve-O: hmm. Yeah, I think the remaster is at the end of the year holiday 2026.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, yeah. Hell yeah. Then we got a Stellar Blade Blood Rain. Stellar Blade is a game I've been shamed into not playing. and Like, it's it's a bad look, man.

Steve-O: Mm, it's a bad look.

JohhnyCAGE: It's just a bad look.

Steve-O: It is You're right.

JohhnyCAGE: But listen, I played the demo, and I was like, this is good. This is a good demo. And then everybody's like, the game's really good. And then this game comes out, and I don't know if this is a full-blown sequel or like a kind of side story.

JohhnyCAGE: I will say, they're really, they're pushing it, dude. They're pushing it.

Steve-O: Mm. Everybody thought, I think, that this was cyberpunk at first.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, I'm just saying with the design.

Steve-O: we

JohhnyCAGE: Because

Steve-O: Oh, no, I'm i'm with you.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm like, yeah, cool. Design, generally, of these games, really good looking. I get it. i am I'm not what you would call a prude.

JohhnyCAGE: But bro. This chick looks like she's 12. And that is uncomfortable for me.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: to do like And I get it. People are like, oh my god, dude, she just looks like a fucking Japanese idol who's like 20. And I'm like, okay.

JohhnyCAGE: But like, I don't i don't know, man. She just his looks really young. Like, she doesn't pass the eye test. You know what I mean?

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, and

Steve-O: For for what the game is, and I know what people did with the previous one, I'm not comfortable.

JohhnyCAGE: For what the game is...

JohhnyCAGE: yeah it makes... and it's like... Dude, yeah, come on. Like... talk It's almost like ah unforced error, dude. It's like everybody was surprise hit.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Everybody likes it like gameplay. Great. You got one for the people who just like good games. You got people for who are just going to goon.

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: little bit, a a little bit of B. So you're just you're kind of playing with house money. And then they're like, here's this.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And you're like, oh, sequel. And she like punches shit like it's it looks like less sword, more like the fist cuffs, which is awesome.

Steve-O: More hit, yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And they're like, yeah, skin tight, everything you want. But also she looks like she's 14. fourteen And I'm like, oh, oh, okay.

Steve-O: and Like, come Guys, come on, guys.

JohhnyCAGE: And I get it. Different cultures. But like, come on, man. Like, Stellar Blade was like tough. That was a tough one. i I feel like I could make an argument. I don't know if I can make the argument for Blood.

Steve-O: I don't think you can bring this one into your house, man.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm like, yo, you got give me a face mod. Give me a head swap. Like,

Steve-O: ah

JohhnyCAGE: I'm not cool with this. I'll feel good about it. ah Okay. Now we're getting...

Steve-O: Give you um a mod for that so you can.

JohhnyCAGE: I need just... Can we just add six years to the age, please?

Steve-O: Yeah, we'll make it start the murder.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't know. like They don't...

Steve-O: She wrote lady.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, dude. We'll just talk about right now. like Tifa is like 20, right? Tifa from Final Fantasy. There's a difference. And I'm ah is like, obviously gorgeous, obviously, you know, fan service ish.

JohhnyCAGE: He ah doesn't look like she's 12.

Steve-O: right

JohhnyCAGE: There's a difference. And why ah do we feel like, why is there a need to skirt the line? There's, we don't need to, we can, We could be comfortably somewhere else.

JohhnyCAGE: And, like, come on, guys.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: Anyway, Tifa's in Street Fighter VI. There's a whole fighter pack. um

Steve-O: I have to say, ah you know, I saw this. I was like, that's cool. And then when I watched what was his name? Maximilian dude's reaction.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: I was like, oh yeah, I was so happy to see him lose his mind over it.

JohhnyCAGE: I mean, because there was a rumor. there was a It was like one that was like, there's no fucking way.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: No way. That's ridiculous. Because, like, everyone's like, she why isn't she in Tekken? Put her in Tekken. And then they, because they're like, fall follow fires maybe that's why that guy quit.

Steve-O: Mm

JohhnyCAGE: Like, Higuchi or whatever.

Steve-O: hmm. Dude, actually, they shamed him They shamed him.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, he retired. And because he's like, I can't. I can't. You're going to tell me you fucking took the bait. You took the Clive. You took Clive from Final Fantasy XVI.

JohhnyCAGE: Knowing that Tifa was on the table at some point and you just bit too easy, too hard. And then, yo, and I'm just saying i'm talking about, talking about a little bit Colin B. Talking about that guy.

JohhnyCAGE: Tifa in the Street Fighter engine.

Steve-O: Yeah, you're right. You're right. You're right.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, yeah, yeah.

Steve-O: They know what they're doing. They know how to make money.

JohhnyCAGE: oh yet yeah

Steve-O: You're

JohhnyCAGE: Like, this is this is might get me to... I know I'm on record as saying I wasn't going to do this, but now that we now that we're just, like, feeling good about it, you know, we're comfortable, got a few liquids in me...

Steve-O: going to break. You're going to break. Come on. The mask be mask, man. We talked about it.

Steve-O: You know, John's going to scream at you until you die.

JohhnyCAGE: I just want John to main Diva. But he won't, out of spite.

Steve-O: He won't. He won't.

JohhnyCAGE: He won't, because there's a new...

Steve-O: He won't. Dude, I don't even know if he knows these characters. He's only played one Final Fantasy game. It was Final Fantasy 13. The

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah he always says the best one, 13. He

Steve-O: the best one.

JohhnyCAGE: okay

Steve-O: He didn't even need to finish it. He said it was the best one. and He stopped playing it when the the whole game opened up.

JohhnyCAGE: he said, no need, no need. i

Steve-O: No need.

JohhnyCAGE: This is the best one.

Steve-O: I got what I wanted from it. I'm happy.

JohhnyCAGE: Steve, you asked me which one felt like, yeah, but you asked me which one felt like it should have been on the the Sony one.

Steve-O: I think, speaking of Final Fantasy...

JohhnyCAGE: I was fully expecting this to be in the state of play. um But Final Fantasy 7, Part 3,

Steve-O: Yeah, this felt like state of play.

JohhnyCAGE: part three

Steve-O: But here's here's your question, though.

JohhnyCAGE: revelation but yeah

Steve-O: If this was in the state of play, it probably wouldn't have received and end of show, like the that the grand reveal.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah you're right and and yeah there is it's ah okay I am used to Nintendo Directs now I'm used to State of Plays for some reason, I just thought SGF was just going be, wasn't going to be a live show.

Steve-O: yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: just thought it was going to be him going like, Oh, you know, do an intro outro somewhere in the middle. I, I forgot it was like a live show.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And then to see that, that is kind of what you do. You're like, yeah, this is to get the moment. Like the freak out with final fantasies, seven revelation gets dropped.

JohhnyCAGE: And right.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: exact Same code, Veronica code, Veronica, response was crazy.

Steve-O: getting the pop.

JohhnyCAGE: Get that pop, dude. And I will say, what a nice bounce back from High Guard terms of a final reveal.

Steve-O: Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: ah

Steve-O: Oh, yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: You know, he's got to keep that energy for s she yeah or for the Game Awards because that's technically that's technically the redemption, right?

Steve-O: Keely knew he learned. Yeah. Mm

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: But um man, this was... Everything I wanted. um I will say the only thing that confounds me is um ah Square Enix doesn't know how to make trailers.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: therere Not that they're bad, but they're just like shielded, right? They're just like everything is like it's the end awkwardly.

JohhnyCAGE: They begin kind of awkwardly. They pause it.

Steve-O: Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: And then they're like, let's like, there were like four trailers, right? Let let me

Steve-O: They did multiple trailer that well they did the the official like reveal.

JohhnyCAGE: There's the big, yeah the official and then gameplay.

Steve-O: They brought Matt Mercer out to basically be like, hey everybody I'm charming and also I'm playing Vincent Valentine and also here's gameplay and.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Which is awesome. Yeah, here' here's kind of like a deep dive, right?

Steve-O: if

JohhnyCAGE: So you're like, okay, that's a... And hey, so happy to see it. Love to see it.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: That's more information. And then they're like, hey, here's a cool cut scene. Another like another trail mini trailer that ends.

Steve-O: Mm.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: And then they're like, I hate to leave work unfinished. So let's finish the the trailer. And it's like, what? but what And it's like...

Steve-O: Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: This takes me back to like, dude, when Kingdom Hearts 3 trailers were getting dropped, they were so weird.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: They were so awkward.

Steve-O: Mm.

JohhnyCAGE: And I was like, what is... how how are you guys bungling this? Like, you can make this so fucking hype, so exciting, and it's just like, nah, what if we just like...

JohhnyCAGE: had the, had scenes, but like no audio and then just music, just music playing over every, like it was just so, I could post them. Like they're, we, you watch you're like what decisions are being made? And to find out that essentially there's still somebody making those types of decisions with these trailers is fucking crazy to me.

JohhnyCAGE: But,

Steve-O: Yes, yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: taking that all out i mean this was the number one shit like i was like wolverine's definitely gonna come out and i mean it's gonna be sick uh and i was like i really want to see final fantasy 7 and i when state of uh state of uh play ended i was like oh no like people were kind of like oh you know his you really thought we were gonna get like a final fantasy like part three like This quickly after the second one, like, come on, guys, like, that doesn't make any sense. And i was like, oh, my God, i think they're right. Like, shit, like, I'm going to spend a whole year waiting for this to come out. And now, like, it it came out for this.

JohhnyCAGE: It was great. We see the weapons. We see the high wind. Now, If I had to be realistic about it, if I had to just be like, okay, like the, there's a part every RPG. This is the awkwardness of of this being three parts. Right.

JohhnyCAGE: But there's always like a part in a traditional like RPG, JRPG really, where it's like, okay, you got like two dungeons left in the game, but now you have the airship.

JohhnyCAGE: So now you can do all these other side missions. Like, do all the side quests, do the things, and now and then you could go, you know, get the get the best sword for this guy, get the best armor for that character. Like, that's such a kind of, want say trope, but it's like something that's very common in every, like, Japanese RPG, right?

JohhnyCAGE: um And Final Fantasy VII is no different. There becomes a point where in Final Fantasy 7 where it's like, okay, like, you could go to the Northern Crater and, like, beat the game, but, like, hey, don't you want to find out what happens here and here and here?

JohhnyCAGE: Don't you want to get the golden, you know, don't you want to get Knights of the Round? Don't you want to get the golden Chocobo?

Steve-O: Don't you want to get Yuffie?

JohhnyCAGE: Like, don't you want to get Yuffie? Don't you want to do Yuffie's, like, final quest? Like, there's all these things.

Steve-O: You got to get Vincent Valentine, too.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, you you don't need to get them, but you can. Like, don't you want to get Vince? Vince and Valentine? So, like, there were always these moments in these games and and in a lot of games like this, where it's like the games opened up, you can kind of to finish off the the side quest, get the secret weapons, do this, do that. And then go in and, you know, typically you did all that. And then you go into the final boss and you just wipe the floor with them because you did all the side stuff.

Steve-O: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: um This is like almost where three part three is starting. It's like, they say they're like, you're getting, you know, you're basically starting with like all the towns unlocked.

JohhnyCAGE: ah You'll have the high wind very shortly. It seems like, you know, you'll get it pretty quickly. And then you can just go anywhere. And I'm like, if that's like the whole of the game, it's like, that's the, that's the, all the side quest stuff. And I'm like, how much like core plot plot is left. And there's not a lot like,

JohhnyCAGE: There's like three things to my memory, right? There's like the Yuffie stuff. Like if you have Yuffie, there's Cloud Goes.

JohhnyCAGE: Spoilers for 1997. Like Cloud Goes Crazy. Like Cloud's not part of your team. And then, like, you get cloud back, and then you can go to the northern crater. And, you know, somewhere in between that is um the the the Arctic town where you can snowboard and shit, right?

JohhnyCAGE: and So there's, like, three or four moments, and then then it's, like, you could do it, you know, go fucking get chocobos, do whatever. um So it's, like, I'm a little, like...

JohhnyCAGE: all right, like what, how much extra stuff is it how How are they going to pace it out? Which is, um you know, you, you fell off of rebirth for the exact same reason as, as a lot of people did.

JohhnyCAGE: Like the pacing is out of control, bad, you know, like,

Steve-O: Mm-hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: okay, like, I guess we'll just keep doing this and that. And like, and that was, there was still a big motivator to like get through the story. And a lot of people fell off like you and Chris. And in this one, it's like, how much motive, like, where's the motivator that isn't just going to be like, I don't know, man, I just did a bunch of shit and like, I can't be bothered to finish it.

JohhnyCAGE: um And the only other thing I think is weird is like, they're adding like a class system, like an alternate system.

Steve-O: Yeah, I saw that.

JohhnyCAGE: Which is cool because like, oh there's new costumes, which is like sexual. They were being very um strict with the outfits that you could wear.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, because, you know, at that point, there have been so many variations of the outfits. And it was like, oh, that'd be so cool if you could just buy a costume pack or or unlock costume packs. And essentially, you can do that in Rebirth after the fact, you know, like I think like in a New Game Plus.

JohhnyCAGE: because they're like, yeah, we don't want you to be in like a goofy fucking bikini when Aerith dies. right like

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And I get that. But for this one, it seems like they're like, well, now that we're past that, let's open it up. Let's free it up. Let's get weird a little bit. and But now I'm like, well, don't want to get weird with it. like I don't know. like I felt like you you took it you you held off for so long and now you're like, oh, let's just add Black Mage class. And I'm like like, a job system. And I don't know.

JohhnyCAGE: i don't want to say it was turned off by it. Like, i don't think really.

Steve-O: You know what that'd be perfect for? A remaster.

JohhnyCAGE: What?

JohhnyCAGE: You might. My crackhead fantasy is like, OK, this is what they're going to do. Any like by 2030. Right. Probably even sooner. But I'm like a year or two after Revelations is out and done and dusted. They're like, OK, we are re-releasing.

JohhnyCAGE: One, two and three as one title where they.

Steve-O: Final Fantasy 7 complete.

JohhnyCAGE: Final Fantasy VII, yeah. ah Revolver or whatever, you know. Final Fantasy VII Revolver and we have updated the combat system to be universal across the entire games.

Steve-O: Yeah, you have to make it. it you have to have that RE in it.

Steve-O: That'd be cool. Actually, that would be excellent.

JohhnyCAGE: and And like you could, if you wanted to, you could get the level 99 Midgar if you were that psycho, right? It's like nothing's crazy changed, but they're like, the combat is now universal.

JohhnyCAGE: So you don't like have these big kind of mechanical changes throughout.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And I was like, dude, I would rebuy it, you know, and it's on an unreal six or what? you know Because i think they're still going to be on unreal four, which is whatever. Right. But yeah, updated graphics, this, that, the other thing fucking.

Steve-O: I to ask you a question.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

Steve-O: Do you think that they wanted to call it Final Fantasy 7 Requiem? And then Resident Evil Requiem came out they were like, you bastards.

JohhnyCAGE: ah and um Man, I'm going to say no, because I don't think Requiem really fits. it does. but i don't I'm going to say no.

JohhnyCAGE: I thought it just going to return.

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: I thought I was going to be basic and say, this return. But.

Steve-O: It's dude. This was a big one. i want your ranking for it.

JohhnyCAGE: This is huge.

Steve-O: I want your ranking for the summer games showcase.

JohhnyCAGE: I know. I'm torn. All right.

Steve-O: Cause Devin, I'm going to say something.

JohhnyCAGE: right. Let me.

Steve-O: i I purposely gave PlayStation and a, because I'm going to give this one an and

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: Ooh. All right.

Steve-O: Just opening up with Resident Evil and ending with ah Final Fantasy.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, it's on par.

Steve-O: And there was a whole skew. Dude.

JohhnyCAGE: If, if this is, if like, that was an A or an A minus, like this is an A.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Maybe this is an A. Maybe this is an A plus to, to the A.

Steve-O: I have to go higher. Just what by one. Yeah. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay. Okay. Yeah.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: So youre you think it's like head and shoulders above. Like it's notably better.

Steve-O: I think this one was just, you know.

JohhnyCAGE: I do think this is the best summer game fest that he's had.

Steve-O: Yeah, it made me go like this is reminiscent of what E3 used to be.

JohhnyCAGE: because

JohhnyCAGE: You know, it's funny. um I did one of my kind of like rants to myself and I should have recorded it.

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: I'm kind of annoyed I didn't. But like I was talking about how Summer Game Fest was always like tough because like the Game Awards, it just seemed like there was more incentive to give Jeff more kind of exclusive or or like sneak peeks at things because there wasn't a lot of noise. There wasn't competing noise. Where in SGF, yeah, it's kind of like the week of is still the kind of the de facto like, yes, let's just kind of drop off all the news. But like Sony has its own show. Xbox has its own show. Nintendo has their own show.

JohhnyCAGE: um You know, There's all these excuses and reasons to not give Jeff the really good announcements, right? Because it's competing, essentially. And i'm like, yeah, it's like Summer Game Fest is never going to match E3 because there was never a show called e three right? But it was still under this E3 umbrella.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And like the Sony show was still at E3. where like the state of play, I think we could say, yes, technically Summer Game Fest, but it like it's really not.

JohhnyCAGE: Like it's not like in the building because Summer Game Fest is a physical place.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: You can go there and play games and, you know, demos and do all that stuff. And it's just like, Yeah, it's just really tough for Summer Game Fest to me to like stand on par or even exceed some of the other shows just because like he's essentially getting the scraps.

JohhnyCAGE: And I really felt like that had been that way the last like kind of since he started. Right. Because it's a newish thing.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: and And the Game of Wars was just a lot easier because, again, there wasn't competing noise. There wasn't like, yeah, okay, yeah we'll give you we'll give you Final Fantasy. or like, we'll give you a God of War. Because like, fuck it, why not?

JohhnyCAGE: Like, let's throw up some noise. He's going to, however the money goes, right? um But this one, I don't know. This one really felt like, yeah, like,

JohhnyCAGE: if he could just somehow convince Sony and Microsoft and Nintendo have some sort of live stage again, he's like, this really could just kind of be like peaky three again.

JohhnyCAGE: Cause this felt like, this felt like a a very good show.

Steve-O: 100%. Yeah.

Steve-O: yeah

JohhnyCAGE: This was a very good show, but, oh man, I don't know. So to avoid answering your question a little bit longer, um

JohhnyCAGE: So it's basically it's Code Veronica and Final Fantasy 7 versus ah God of War and Wolverine.

JohhnyCAGE: And those are some bangers versus bang, banger V bangers, dude.

Steve-O: Those are bangers. hmm. Mm

JohhnyCAGE: Oh, You know, I guess I'll give it to, I'll give it a stadium or a summer game fest. It had, it had final fantasy seven and I was legitimately surprised by code Veronica.

JohhnyCAGE: I really was like, there's no way like they're too busy.

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: No one would have gave them shit. No one would have said Capcom didn't do enough in 2026. Yeah.

Steve-O: You could take the year off for 2027.

JohhnyCAGE: Or like, like you could wait till the game awards. Yeah. like no one i think people were like, we don't need... not I would love Resident Evil every year.

JohhnyCAGE: But like i think they could have gotten... Listen, they kind of like unloaded the clip, emptied the clip in 2026.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah like let let them cook dude they they gave us a great year the best year that any developers ever given like frankly honestly um and yeah like let them cook on our code Veronica Resil zero like ari like whatever it was gonna be it's fine go with God and then they were like no dude we're not done we're not done here's code Veronica and it looks sick and it's

Steve-O: Go with God.

Steve-O: yeah

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: And it's it's especially exciting for me because it's the one I've like zero and Code Veronica are the two that I never really gave the time of day. And and zero is just like, I'm like, I get it.

JohhnyCAGE: Same same mansion. It's a train. There's a leech man.

Steve-O: If they remake zero, they might as well just remake one at that point.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, yeah, like Zero remake and Code Veronica remake, like Code Veronica was always the one where I was like, and there was kind of that weird doubt, like, are they going to do Code Veronica?

JohhnyCAGE: Are they just going to go straight to five?

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: And it was just so cool to see them, like, confirm it. And I'm like, yeah.

Steve-O: Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: And then I got RE7 Revelation. And it wasn't just, ah I would happy with the trailer, but it was like everything plus, ah you know, a little awkward and tilted, but at the end of the day, it's still, like, way more than I was expecting. And, you know, the but also, you know, there's, like, a 15-year-old girl in a skin suit in stellar.

JohhnyCAGE: So, yeah, that's that's what you give an S rank, huh, Steve?

Steve-O: You know what? I didn't. Yeah. o

Steve-O: You know what?

JohhnyCAGE: All right.

Steve-O: Never mind. be B.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah

Steve-O: B.

JohhnyCAGE: No, Steve.

Steve-O: It's no high guard.

JohhnyCAGE: It's no... It's no I-Guard. I-Guard. Ladies and gentlemen, I-Guard.

Steve-O: yeah This is the one.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay. Thanks, dude. Fucking weirdo. ah god Yeah, but... No, i'll get I'll give the slight edge.

JohhnyCAGE: The slight edge.

Steve-O: All right.

JohhnyCAGE: Nothing

Steve-O: I, you know, just to say, hey, game announcements, game trailers cooking, cooking really good this year.

JohhnyCAGE: wrong.

Steve-O: So.

JohhnyCAGE: it's It's one of my favorite times of the year. I say that kind of without shame. like I'm like, no, i like look forward to this chunk.

Steve-O: We ah we don't.

JohhnyCAGE: Because it's a week where I can just... Yes, give me more.

Steve-O: yeah Give me more. We lost the Comic-Con trailer thing. I mean, it's still there. It's just not as magical as it used to be.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, and they're kind of...

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: don't know. They... It's so frustrating that that for whatever reason, it's kind of given that that Hollywood doesn't follow this this trend.

JohhnyCAGE: Like, give us this.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: If we're not doing this, then have a fucking Disney block. Have like have a Sony block. Give me a Disney state of a a play.

Steve-O: they They do the... What's that? d twenty three Kind of?

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, that's the in person, and you have to go to it, and they don't release those trailers. Like, And I get it. That's kind of the reason why you sell the tickets. But it's like, dude, E3 survived?

JohhnyCAGE: Actually, not a really bad example.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: It's a terrible example.

Steve-O: Yeah. Oh, and it didn't survive. You're right.

JohhnyCAGE: But like, MJF seems to be doing very well.

Steve-O: Oh, God.

JohhnyCAGE: um And MJF's doing great.

Steve-O: Yeah, MJF's doing fantastic. He's got those Burberry scarves.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, it was expensive. But... No, like there's a successful, I mean, like esque state of play, I think was the most popular state of play ever.

Steve-O: Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: SGF, I think broke former SGF records. The game awards constantly on an uptick of viewers, which means, you know, commercials and all that. And it's like, I just cannot...

JohhnyCAGE: I mean, listen, I would love it if there was like an E3 for movies, which used to be Comic-Con, but like make it viewable to other, you know, to people that don't have to be there.

JohhnyCAGE: But if you're not going to do that, split it. Give me something, dude.

Steve-O: It's very funny because for so long games were trying to become like movies. You know, they wanted to have their own awards and and stuff like that.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: Now it seems like it's kind of on the opposite end where movies should be emulating what games are doing. Put trailers like world premiere trailers in the Oscars.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. Like,

Steve-O: Stuff like this is cool.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah, yeah, yeah. Crazy to me that they don't do that.

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Absolutely crazy that they don't release those things. Like, no, oh, I'm sorry. Like, yeah. but you got self like traditional commercials, dude. It's such a dated concept and i just I've never understood it. And it's just like year over year they get fucking chewed up if you make the comparison.

JohhnyCAGE: And I don't know, maybe maybe that's Keeley's ultimate FU for not giving his dad the credit he deserved.

Steve-O: He's going to kill movies. He's going to kill movies with video games.

JohhnyCAGE: who's gonna Movies are next, dude. You're killing him, dude. But ah That being said, we have technically we have one more show.

Steve-O: One more show. Can we speed run this? Because we're getting it's getting pretty late.

JohhnyCAGE: ah We'll speak now, honestly, because I'm always really out of the loop with the Nintendo Directs. So what?

Steve-O: Hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Give me a hopes and dreams, Nintendo Direct. What do you think is going to be there?

Steve-O: All right.

JohhnyCAGE: What are you like? Oh, my God. You pop off.

Steve-O: This is what I'm expecting from it and hope or hoping from it.

JohhnyCAGE: if you see Yeah.

Steve-O: I'm imagining. what I'm imagining we're gonna see more Star Fox.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: I think that's going to probably start stuff off.

JohhnyCAGE: yeah

Steve-O: I've been seeing people who have got to play Star Fox and they are glazing it.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

Steve-O: And it's only a $50 game. So like that's kind of crazy.

JohhnyCAGE: Dude, what ah what a wild... like All that only screams that they know they fucked up with that $80 Mario Kart game.

Steve-O: i I think so. I think they were like, with us having to, with us having to raise the price of the console, we might need, yeah, that's, they've they're getting more expensive.

JohhnyCAGE: What a mis... Yeah, what a misplay, dude. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: and they got more. Oh, that's right.

Steve-O: in order to like kind of make this a little bit of a, a cheaper pill to swallow a cheaper pill, whatever.

JohhnyCAGE: Easier pill.

Steve-O: Yeah. Easier pill to swallow, uh, lower the price of the game at least.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: But you know, that's the thing. It looks cool. It's visually like cinematic. You know, it's it's neat.

JohhnyCAGE: Eventually it has a look.

Steve-O: And I think that's what they're going to open with.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: I think we are also going to get some updates on stuff that they're going to add to Tomodachi life because that unexpectedly became like one of the biggest Nintendo releases.

JohhnyCAGE: It's

Steve-O: um I also expect there to be, i think they're going to end with Ocarina of Time remake. That's one that has been rumored for so long.

JohhnyCAGE: it's just a shame that that is that is all but confirmed. um

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: It's like tough because you're like, oh, that's so sick. But also like, yeah, and like, I mean, I'll be honest.

Steve-O: You want to lose your mind over it with like a reveal, but everybody's like, yeah, we all know.

JohhnyCAGE: If I didn't read that or hear about that or whatever, like, Dude, that would have been crazy.

Steve-O: Yeah. Oh my God. Yes.

JohhnyCAGE: But, alright, so yeah, Zelda, yeah, obviously you'll believe it when you see it.

Steve-O: I like, I don't even believe it still, but like, you know, it makes sense. It's the 40th anniversary.

JohhnyCAGE: Alright, do you think the art style, let's go with this, is the art style going to be realistic or stylized?

Steve-O: They've got a movie coming out. Like, come on. It's confirmed basically.

Steve-O: Yeah.

Steve-O: I think it's going be stylized, but not in like a Wind Waker sense. like I think it's going to be Breath of the Wild stylized.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay. So like a little bit of cell shading.

Steve-O: But I think it's going to look better than Tears of the Kingdom because it's going to be a Switch 2 exclusive.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Okay.

Steve-O: So ah it may it may have like a Ghibli feel even.

JohhnyCAGE: All right.

JohhnyCAGE: Dude, that would be crazy. I don't, I don't, you know what?

Steve-O: That would be crazy.

JohhnyCAGE: It's all possible until you see it. So let's go let's go with that.

Steve-O: Yeah, tomorrow we'll find out and we'll lose our mind. And I i have been hearing people talk about a news 3D Super Mario platformer and they were calling it ah Mario Titan, Super Mario Titan.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: See, that that's... That's dirty.

JohhnyCAGE: What the fuck? What

Steve-O: I don't know what that means. Is it Titanfall? But with Mario?

JohhnyCAGE: and does that even mean? What could that mean?

Steve-O: but

JohhnyCAGE: um

Steve-O: What about you, Devon? Do you have any ah any thoughts?

JohhnyCAGE: I'm going to say...

JohhnyCAGE: you know what? I'm going to say that we are going to get... A very interesting Mario Kart World DLC.

Steve-O: It's been so long.

JohhnyCAGE: i think it's I think it's going to like impress people. like I don't think it's going to be like cross... like I think the DLC will put it into where it should have been, which is in the Smash Bros.

JohhnyCAGE: Closer to Smash Bros. like

Steve-O: Okay.

JohhnyCAGE: Mix your Nintendo IP up. You did it before...

Steve-O: You think you're going to get Lincoln it.

JohhnyCAGE: They see. I think you're not only going to get Link. I think you are because like I think everything's going to Link coded because like you said the anniversary. But I think you're going to get like Kirby too.

JohhnyCAGE: I think at least two Link and Kirby. Zelda, you know, like Zelda IP and Kirby IP. I think Kirby's little tough because they have that other game.

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: um but

Steve-O: That would be cool if they like did it by game to where it's like, you know, because Super Mario World.

JohhnyCAGE: Well, you got mean, you have Link, you gotta have Ganon, you gotta have Zelda, like, you gotta Sheik.

Steve-O: You're right. But like Super Mario World, like the big deal about that is it's like the entire map is like the Mario like planet kind of.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: what if they did each of the DLCs as like, oh, boom, we're adding Hyrule. So it's like a series of like racetracks, but it is like kind of like a contained open world of Hyrule.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah. so just try Yeah. Yeah, because you're driving around that area. Um,

Steve-O: Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, dude. Like, why? why not? Like, it's... I never quite understood the hesitant the hesitance to do that when Smash Brothers has only been um crazy success.

Steve-O: Right.

JohhnyCAGE: And like not for nothing, but I think they got to see the success that Crossroads has had.

Steve-O: Mm

JohhnyCAGE: I know Nintendo's famously just doing Nintendo things, but somebody's got to look over and be like, what ah who could we be doing?

Steve-O: hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: So so do you think that the Maru thing...

Steve-O: Like we own these things. Why not?

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, yeah. I'll say that. Hang my hat on that. Because that that does very well for my fantasy critic.

Steve-O: All right.

Steve-O: Mm hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Intensely well, yeah. So, yeah. We'll say that. We'll say that.

Steve-O: All right. Well, ah I'm imagining we will be back next week with hopefully Chris. John might still be doing baby stuff.

JohhnyCAGE: You know ah umm I'm telling you. i'm ah I'm a month old on this baby thing.

Steve-O: I think that baby's a month old.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't know how to approach this with him.

Steve-O: More though.

JohhnyCAGE: John, I'm done with this baby. I need you back. i need I need the Street Fighter take.

Steve-O: John, where are you? Taking care of a baby. I'm also working at the airport.

JohhnyCAGE: He's he's building the airport, I hear.

Steve-O: He's he's building the ah the one airport that we all have to go to now.

JohhnyCAGE: one Chicago. Chicago.

Steve-O: Yeah, that's it. We're all going to O'Hare. Mm hmm.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, that's the word. Oh, oh hey

Steve-O: I'm scared that how quickly I could pick that out of my head. I don't know why.

JohhnyCAGE: hey. You know, I'll tell you.

Steve-O: I've never been.

JohhnyCAGE: I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why. ah Home Alone.

Steve-O: Home Alone. You're right.

JohhnyCAGE: Aren't they anything you know here for?

Steve-O: That is that is O'Hare.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah.

Steve-O: Yeah. And Home Alone 2. Wow.

JohhnyCAGE: Boom.

Steve-O: Yeah, that was a good call. All right, Devin. We will be back next week. We're going be doing our Home Alone retrospective. um

JohhnyCAGE: however I wasn't going to eat that macaroni and cheese.

Steve-O: ah i watched a tiktto a little quick aside I watched a TikTok video of of a girl who buys all of the groceries that Kevin McAllister bought.

JohhnyCAGE: Oh,

Steve-O: And like every year sees how much they have gone up in price.

JohhnyCAGE: my God. I bet it's.

Steve-O: 2026, $10 more.

JohhnyCAGE: Then 2025.

Steve-O: Then 2025. Yeah.

JohhnyCAGE: Yeah, like, what what are we doing, guys?

Steve-O: Things are expensive. Kevin McAllister wouldn't be able to buy those things no more.

JohhnyCAGE: I don't like this. i don't like this timeline. We can't blame everything on data centers. Like, why are bananas more expensive, dude? Come on.

Steve-O: Come on.

JohhnyCAGE: Come on.

Steve-O: Come on. right. Be back next week, Devon.

JohhnyCAGE: Yes, I will for sure be available. Wait. Yes, I will be actually.

Steve-O: All right.

JohhnyCAGE: god We do these on Mondays now. Yeah.

Steve-O: We will see you then. Have a good week. Bye, everybody.
