00:00:18

What's the deal? Let me try that again.

Introduction and Podcast Launch

00:00:22
Speaker
It's the Down With DP Podcast with Robert Dunn and Ron Prendamano in 3, 2,
00:00:41
Speaker
What's up? I just feel like I look like I'm in full producer mode. If you can't see me, guys. You're you're you are on. a Do you have a lot of caffeine? this Yeah, I mean, yeah, I did. i did. Yeah. um Yeah. Thanks for asking. No, I'm just like, I mean, everybody, you can't see me what you can on YouTube and Spotify. I feel like I'm in full New Yorker. i have my New Yorker uniform on.
00:01:06
Speaker
which is a leather jacket. I got my Yankee hat. I got my headphones on, man. I just look like I'm ready to drop the coolest album. I'm going to tell everybody how this happened. Okay. um Also, hi, this is the Down With DP podcast. I'm Ron Predamano. And that guy over there is- It's Robert Dunn. Dude, you know what? I look like I'm about to make an album with P. Diddy and he's not going to pay me. He's not going to pay me. Yeah, All I did was I said, I want to go put a hat on. And I'm like, I want my Mets hat today because I do like the Mets. And he's like, oh, let me put my Yankees hat on. going to put a jacket on. Now I feel like a New Yorker. I'm a New Yorker. What's the temperature right now? is a beautiful 72 degrees. Yeah, you have shorts on, too, but we're not going to tell them about that. And this jacket might come off, like, halfway through the episodes because it's fucking hot. Yeah.
00:01:57
Speaker
It's a I wish it was. It's 31 degrees here in New York. Well, guys, um we are an episode. ah but So i this this is how I'm calculating this. Okay.
00:02:08
Speaker
Calculating our seasons. i look at this as we are in season two and I do it by the year. So like, okay, 2027, it'll be season three, so on and so forth.
00:02:22
Speaker
um That works. So season two, I believe this is episode three of season two. um I don't know. I don't think anyone gives a shit when it comes to podcasts. I don't know. like i'm I don't, I don't, I don't, we don't have bosses yet. So, you know, we get to kind of just do This could be season 12. There's not like a hook. There's not like a, what's the finale going to be? no You know? So always thought it was silly. No.
00:02:44
Speaker
Even though we, even though we, we, we will take a break somewhere in the summer. Yeah. yeah I think maybe even before that, will take, the ad because you know, I, I dude, you know, I got, I got stuff to do, man. You know, ain't got, i don't got, you know what? We might have stuff to do by then. We,
00:02:58
Speaker
You might get a job. ah you know you might get ah You might get a film role or something like that. Dude, I like that. Something could take off with me. you i don't know. Here's the thing. something I can go on a mini summer tour don't know. There's something you sent me that I appreciated. And even though I don't necessarily believe in this stuff, I am like, at this point, I'm like, I'll take anything. And you sent me like the Zodiac thing, ah which is very LA. Very LA of you. Oh, yeah. It was like the... You're welcome. You know.
00:03:27
Speaker
um um Yeah, it was basically how in it was the Chinese Zodiac, I believe. And I think this is the year of the horse. I think, but you and i being born in 87, we are rabbits.
00:03:39
Speaker
And apparently in this year of the Chinese Zodiac, um we're supposed to be very successful people born in 87 or anybody who's a rabbit, I should say. so it's supposed to be a very successful year for us. um I only know this.
00:03:53
Speaker
I mean, I mean, I mean, I don't know. ah is Yeah. It's the year of the horse. um I don't know. It's only been what 18, 19 days. It is Martin Luther King Day today. I should think we should practice that. It is Martin Luther King Day today.
00:04:07
Speaker
um So yeah, i it's only you know three weeks into the New Year, so we'll see what happens. But as of right now, I don't... We'll see. so I don't fucking know. I mean, I'm here. Here's my thing with Zodiacs. Like, I'm not I i don't I don't see any real evidence for it. I think they're fun.
00:04:24
Speaker
This is the Zodiac. Oh, shit. Right now. sorry That was really cool. ah ah Here's the thing. I'm

Time Travel and Aging Discussion

00:04:33
Speaker
OK to like I think Zodiac stuff is fun.
00:04:36
Speaker
Do I don't? Yeah. but You know what? I am like anti where I'm like, dude, that means nothing is numerology. where people are like, oh, I've never gotten any numerals. think bullshit. no i mean, because here's the thing. Well, this number means this, and this number means this.
00:04:53
Speaker
And I'm Jennifer Coolidge, and I like my tits now. He was doing this before the podcast. If I'm allowed to dip in a macho man at random, you're allowed to do that. So. I'm Jennifer Coolidge.
00:05:06
Speaker
Hey, man.
00:05:08
Speaker
hammer and ton of her courage. Anyway, yeah, no, ah numerology I've never gotten into. Not a fan of numerology. they're always it goes The Zodiac thing, yeah the Zodiac thing, like even the Chinese Zodiac and the zo the Zodiac that everyone uses, like I'm a Pisces, for example, um a lot of, I think, I use them as guides.
00:05:26
Speaker
Like, sometimes they tend to be true, sometimes they don't. Yeah, um A lot of times I could see the parallels with it. I could see how that works, um but I don't use it to guide my life. Like I use it as like simple little guides, like guidelines, I guess you could call it rather than, you know, actually taking the wheel and driving. me Like there was someone who ah I was working with and they were like,
00:05:49
Speaker
They're like, oh, my God, I just saw it's 414. And I'm like, why? It's like, well, before I just saw it was 313. And they're like fans of numerology. andre And then they saw it was 515. And they're like, see, see, it means something. I'm like, no, because the other times you were checking the time and it wasn't that you didn't say shit.
00:06:07
Speaker
It was only the times that it fit that you're like, oh, now it means something. So and here's the thing. You look at I mean, look at the number pi. You could find any.
00:06:17
Speaker
any kind of like indicator, any kind of like set of numbers to mean something to you. You'll find your birthday in there. Like it doesn't matter. So that's why numerology is ah kind of bullshit.
00:06:30
Speaker
I mean, ah after after 9-11, like every like' be a few time, one like ah quite often I would look i would look at the time and I would notice, oh, it's 9-11. Oh, that's crazy. And I would do it often. But I think it's just because 9-11 is such a thing now, obvious for obvious reasons that ah I would just notice it more. Yeah. it's all um There's the number 237 me.
00:06:53
Speaker
um which is from a uh if you remember newgrounds.com there was a power rangers parody of course i do cartoon that was made that you know tickled me pink when i was in high school and uh for i forgot i think it was 237 it'd be funny if it wasn't but they did this thing where they were obsessed over the number 237 and i thought it was so funny uh i i know that doesn't sound funny without context but just just bear with me it's

Conspiracy Theories: Flat Earth

00:07:18
Speaker
But now, even to this day, if I see 237, I'm like, oh, 237. But it's from a Newgrounds cartoon. It's not because there's a, you know. I mean, look at the whole 6-7. Yeah, that too.
00:07:31
Speaker
Look at that. i It has no context whatsoever. I mean, what is Dictionary.com made it like the word of the year? Yeah. My cat just gave me a dirty look. Oh, I agree with the cat.
00:07:42
Speaker
But, um... Yeah. So anyway, ah but if, Hey, if you're in a numerology, it's cool. Just don't let it take over your life. Yeah. it's cool. Yeah. ah Well, Hey Ron.
00:07:55
Speaker
Well, like the people with those rods, ever see people with the rods. They're like the, I think they're usually meant for finding water. i could be wrong, but like, you know, you ask the universe a question and if it crosses, it means yes. And if it doesn't cross, it means no That stuff is in interesting. Oh, okay. I haven't heard of that one, actually. Yeah.
00:08:14
Speaker
Yeah, there's there's one chick I follow online. she's It's pretty interesting. I recently fell out because i think apparently the Earth is flat. It has a dome over it, according to the rods, because they crossed on yes. So I don't know. now Maybe we are. i Somebody asked... Do you know people who are flat earthers? Not personally, but I used to, I've debated flat earthers before on the internet and I stopped like verbally debated, not like in Facebook comments.
00:08:41
Speaker
So somebody said to me one time and the same guy, he's, I love that we're getting into this by the way. This is great. I, yes, yes. Anybody who's like,
00:08:52
Speaker
And he he goes with any conspiracy. Oh, yeah. Okay. People, you know, he he's one of those. He's a great guy. I haven't seen him in a while. He's a great guy. um But he said to me, we were talking about the flat earth. And I'm like, dude, science has proven it over and over and over again that the earth is not flat. And he's like, well, what if science ended up telling you it was flat? What would you do? I'd be like,
00:09:12
Speaker
Okay. but He's like, that wouldn't blow your mind? i'm like, no. It would just be new information that we apparently had wrong. That's all it is. Okay, the Earth is flat. That doesn't change me That doesn't change my life.
00:09:25
Speaker
I just, you know, okay, maps are drawn differently. It's like my whole world isn't turned upside down. ah But it's... Who cares? But as of right now, the Earth is... not flat it's also not a complete sphere yeah yeah interesting shape it's not yeah complete sphere it is and it's not an axis no and uh like just yeah yeah it's like yeah yeah exactly so but um yeah a lot of that stuff i just yeah because that's the thing so there is i there are some conspiracy theories i do believe
00:09:56
Speaker
But I don't really, but the flat earth thing. Yeah. ah Yeah. I don't believe in it either. um I've watched a lot of debates on flat earthers and their science is so, their their quote unquote science is just so incredibly. So yeah, it's so incredibly biased to the point where it's like, it doesn't matter if you're shown proof, you wouldn't care. Yeah.
00:10:19
Speaker
And also, yeah, if that if if science like if if there was a ah a paper that was presented to the scientific community that was peer reviewed and it came to be that, hey, the earth is indeed flat.
00:10:32
Speaker
Yes. If the evidence showed it, I would believe

Gluten-Free Lifestyle and Social Media Misinformation

00:10:35
Speaker
it. Like I go where the evidence points me to because my whole thing in life is like I want to believe more true things and less false things as possible.
00:10:45
Speaker
um One thing that I get, exactly, exactly. ah One thing that I get a lot ah ever since, um you know, my whole wheat allergy thing and my gluten-free lifestyle now, a lot of people are like, we didn't have these diseases back then.
00:10:58
Speaker
Yeah, we probably did. We just didn't know. Yeah, you say, is this free social media where information wasn't sent to each other constantly every single day? And I i think I said this on the last, exactly. i think I said this on the last episode where they, the whole gluten-free thing, the people that actually need it got ruined because people are like, i like people in Los Angeles, um I'm gluten-free now. It's like, you don't need to be gluten-free, but you just ruined it for all the people that do need to be gluten-free.
00:11:26
Speaker
Like, don't be an asshole. So now when I'm at a restaurant, I'm like, yes, I have a wheat allergy. i need gluten-free. Oh, okay. is it Like in Canada, they ask you a lot. Is it allergy or a preference?
00:11:38
Speaker
It's an allergy. yeah i will have reactions. You don't want me to die. I'm going die, but yeah. yeah i um but Yeah, I always hated that argument with anything where it's like, you know what? When I was younger, this wasn't a thing. It's like, well, when you were younger, did social media exist? where that people Were people able to speak on this openly and have this information known by a masses amounts of people? Things that you didn't know from your little small town. Like, what the fuck are you talking about? It's... it's i yeah Yeah, there were no podcasts to give you these information this information then. Right, right. And, you know, this comes down to social issues. Yeah, you're right, though. ah
00:12:17
Speaker
you know i mean, I don't want to get political, but even with social issues, like I didn't know this wasn't an issue when I was growing up. It's like, yeah, it probably... it was. In your bubble, yeah, you're right. It probably wasn't because you didn't fucking know about it. It didn't affect you personally. And now a whole you know can of information has opened up across social media that, hey, this ah this affects a lot of people. So...
00:12:41
Speaker
um adam You know, there's other parts of the world where things happen. um But whatever. i was having this conversation. I think my mom, I think I was also having with my wife as well. Everything we're experiencing right now, it's already happened before. It's the same shit over and over. Nothing is new.
00:13:00
Speaker
now that Yes, we have a computer now. We can do a podcast. But like social issues and stuff, I'll go for, up because we were talking like women's rights, things like that. None of this is new. This is, this is shit's been going on for centuries. None of this is new. right A different political party getting at another political party, somebody trying to take over land. Um,
00:13:21
Speaker
You know, a lot of the political issues we have in the United States. None of this is new. It's just a little, it's just yeah different, but it's not new. It's the same shit. Yeah. But, uh, yeah, um, absolutely right. But Hey, you know what, you know what, you know what you can do. You know what you can do to drown out. We're going to talk about something else. I was going to say, you know, what you can do to drown all this out is watch television, Ron.
00:13:46
Speaker
Wow, I do. That's why I'm talking about it because i watch too much. Do you like that transition? Because we're about to talk. Oh, yeah, I usually do a thing. We're going to be talking about TV. We're going to be talking about, ah you know, flying again. i always I am. I'm fascinated with airplane stuff. We're going to get into some NFL playoffs. We're going to say, have you ever been fired?
00:14:06
Speaker
And. um And then, ah yeah, some other stuff, maybe even some crumble talk, which I'm sure is going to be extremely positive on Ron's part. Fuck. Wow. OK, spoilers. um So here we go. ah Ron, tell me what.
00:14:23
Speaker
What's hot right now on your television? What what is burning the what is burning the ah RGB colors on your on your plasma TV right now?
00:14:33
Speaker
As of right now, I am currently watching um High Potential. Cool. Which season are you High Potential. That is a show. The second season. i'm ah I think I'm behind one episode right now. So it's it's the new episodes are airing right now. So I'm on You might see a certain someone on there on season two. Really? Really?
00:14:55
Speaker
oh Oh, okay. Let me know what episode. It's nothing big. um I'm watching that. I started watching. I didn't know the show was 10 years old. 11-22-63. Oh, I didn't know.
00:15:07
Speaker
It's on Netflix right now. I think it originally came on Hulu. It's James Franco. Apparently it aired in 2016. James Franco, yeah.
00:15:18
Speaker
Basically, this guy is sent back. It's it's based on a Stephen King novel. ah This guy is sent back in time to prevent the assassination, the assassination of JFK. Oh, okay.
00:15:30
Speaker
Let me guess. And in turn, he's the one that causes it. I don't know. Not there yet. I don't know. Because that's always like a time traveler um dilemma where it's like, oh, if I get. It's very interesting.
00:15:43
Speaker
Yeah, it's yeah. It's always like a time traveler thing. Exactly. End up causing more harm or like, you know, I'm going to go back in time to kill Hitler. But in a sense, I'm the one that helped him get into power. You know, that's kind of the like paradox with time travel.
00:15:56
Speaker
Well, what makes it interesting is that every time he goes, he can't just go back and forth, back and forth. It's not like, you know, um ever if he goes back. Okay, everything's now, what you've changed is now what you've changed.
00:16:08
Speaker
Great. But if you go in again, everything resets. Okay. so every And he can only go back to nineteen this one point in 1960. So if he stays there for 25 years and then comes back,
00:16:23
Speaker
You know, it's ah it's only been two minutes in real time, but everything else has changed. Here's a question so it's I have for you with time travel. And then I'm going to go again. I'm going to get into the show I watched. And I think we both watched it. um When it comes to time travel, here here's my thing. Let's say actually this is a this is such a good question.

Time Travel Hypothetical Question

00:16:41
Speaker
You know what? Maybe i might save this question.
00:16:46
Speaker
Ooh, this is so interesting because, oh man, ah because there's something special. You might just say it, motherfucker. Just say it. know what? I can ask this question again on the next episode. I'll ask you right now. It's our show. do I know. That's true. Do you hear that, Interns? It's our fucking show.
00:17:04
Speaker
Now get back in the basement. Oh, God. Robert, come back, buddy. Come back. Here we go. They keep trying to quit, but the chains are too strong. ah So anyways. It's supposed to talk about the chain The chains. They love those chains. You love those chains, don't you? I've told them to say yes. So here's here's the thing. Come back. Sorry.
00:17:25
Speaker
Here's the thing with time travel. If let's say you go back in time to I don't know, it doesn't matter. 1960 and you're there for five days. Would and then you wanted to return back. Would you return back to the moment you left or would you return back five days later in your present day?
00:17:46
Speaker
So I don't know, that's interesting. like According to the show, you return back to the moment you left. So it's only been two minutes since you left, regardless how long you're in that time, I think it's only two minutes.
00:17:58
Speaker
I would think you would turn back to the moment- Like obviously if you had a choice, because yeah if you had the DeLorean, you could go back whenever. you know would you Would you go back to the present day, quote unquote present day, from the amount of time that you have been gone?
00:18:14
Speaker
If I have choice? Yeah, if you had choice. If have choice? I would probably go back to the moment I left. Interesting. Because I โ€“ I'd probably go back left. understand that. But there is a part of me that's like โ€“ but I did age five days or like โ€“ I don't know. It's very strange. it i don't I don't know what I โ€“ and I would always feel like I'm like five days behind because if like โ€“ I don't know. It's so weird.
00:18:36
Speaker
It's a mind fuck. Personally, don't think we will ever truly achieve time. I don't think either. Unless we have already, but it's not released, but I don't think we will ever achieve The only way that I think we can see... I don't think it's achievable. Okay, here's where I need a scientist here.
00:18:54
Speaker
If I understand this correctly, the way light works... ah Please, if you're listening to this podcast, don't leave yet, I swear. um But the way light works is if you were able and and I want scientists to correct me if I'm wrong here. But if you had like a telescope that was light years away from Earth and it somehow was able to see Earth from wherever light years away, which would pretty much nearly be impossible, I think I had I had thought the process was you could technically see back in time.
00:19:27
Speaker
because of how light works. So the earth that you're seeing is back in time. is You're not seeing present day.
00:19:38
Speaker
Yeah, that's um that's what I we're to have Neil deGrasse Tyson on. He's going to come on. He's going to explain it. That would be awesome. um However, I guess wait when you fly, you technically time travel. That's Yep. I did hear that um in some ways. I mean, like if I go to California right now, it's going to be three hours behind. You know, I'm going to get like three hours back. And then when I go forward, I, you know.
00:19:58
Speaker
three hours gain. So it's like, I'm on time is a man-made construct, you know, it really is though. It is. I mean, if you look at the time zones, they're all bullshit. I know. I wish we would just like, but you know, it's cool actually. i which I know that like, obviously there's different.
00:20:15
Speaker
Well, I guess, I guess it is a little bit different. Nevermind. I was going to say like, it is funny how we all kind of have this agreement though, that like,
00:20:26
Speaker
you know We're recording on a certain day. Let's say we're recording on a Monday. It's like... Like it's it's either man. OK, I'm sounding like an idiot right now because I'm saying like we all kind of like agreed in the world that we have days of the week and a month and ah and a day. Like no one's doing some other weird shit where like, oh, today is B. Today's B green.
00:20:52
Speaker
And we're like, no, today's November 2nd. You know, everyone's kind of at least agreed upon some kind of like date and day of the month the calendar you mean um i don't know what that word means ron but yeah it's something that showcases dates and time you know things like that yeah we've all kind of i forget what calendar this is but we've all kind of uh agreed on yes so i mean that's kind of a form of world peace is that what you were getting at this whole time i'm finally and i am announcing i'm running for office ron
00:21:28
Speaker
I'm I am a fit. Hear me now. Dear God. Robert Dunn is running for office. Vote. Vote now. um I'll have a link of a link where you can vote and then I'll move in to the White House.
00:21:43
Speaker
Yeah. The Gregorian calendar. You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to tear down the roof of the White House and build another level. It's going to be double the the height. Somebody's already doing that. kind of Yeah.
00:21:56
Speaker
Yeah. It's something adding balls to it or ball ballroom. There's something with balls. Kind of. Yeah. Someone has, you know, just tax. Someone has small balls. I don't know. adam So, wow.
00:22:07
Speaker
Anyway, guys, listen up. Uh, I don't know. I'm in a silly mood. Uh, I'm in full

Stranger Things Finale and Series Review

00:22:13
Speaker
YouTube mode. Like, Hey guys, what's going on today? We're going to be talking about, uh, so, uh, the show that I'm watching now, Ron is, uh, it's called stranger things.
00:22:22
Speaker
And, uh, stranger. And by watch, I mean, I finished it. Um, yeah I did too. I did too. I finished it a few weeks ago. uh, do we want to get into spoilers? Cause I, just in case people are listening, you know, me, I've ranted about spoilers.
00:22:41
Speaker
Uh, you know what? It's been three weeks. All right. If you haven't watched it yet, I think, uh, I mean, I think everyone knows, even if you didn't finish it, how it's going to end. Yeah. Yes and no. Well, guys, um, we'll, we'll, I hope that nothing is spoiled for you. Feel free to fast forward. Uh, and, uh, hopefully we don't ruin anything for you, but yeah.
00:23:02
Speaker
How did you feel about stranger things? Unless you want me to go first up to you. I enjoyed the series overall. I thought it was a lot of fun. um Oh, my cat came back. Wow. um I enjoyed the series overall. um Definitely had some ah nightmares of ah what are they called? The Demogorgons of those things like chasing me in a dream. Definitely had nightmares of Get away from my coffee, sugar.
00:23:28
Speaker
My cat's trying to drink coffee. I like that. Sugar will try get into your coffee. Definitely had nightmares of that. Yeah. um i thought that I thought it ended well. I think it ended how it should have. I do think the final season did a decent job of tying everything together. a little so a little quick on some things, but I think overall it tied together nicely. um Eleven did what she had to do. Jane, is Jane? jane Yeah.
00:23:56
Speaker
We call her Elle. Yeah, she did what she had to do. I mean... um Is she really dead? I don't think so. She's probably just trapped somewhere else in the world. But um the only thing I don't like about the ending is how everybody seemed to be so happy after she died.
00:24:13
Speaker
Or supposedly died. Everyone moved on so quickly, yeah. Yeah, everyone was so like, oh, she's gone. i mean, she just fucking sacrificed. Nobody's upset. Nobody's crying. Yeah. Nobody like, everyone's just like, oh, I remember Eleven. Oh, she was great. I'm like, motherfucker, she just sacrificed to save the fucking world. Yeah.
00:24:31
Speaker
there's There should be a shrine for her, but there's nothing. Right. ah So I thought that was a little, I thought the that could have been a little bit, you know a little more mourning for her loss. But I think the Duffer brothers did a fantastic job with the whole thing. Yeah. um So I have a little bit more issues with it. um i was I was really liking it.
00:24:53
Speaker
pretty much almost all of it till the finale. And ah one of the things that other people have spoke about, and I didn't really, I thought people were over exaggerating, but they kind of weren't. And that was the, the over the, the planning that they would do in the show.
00:25:12
Speaker
And I, i I never felt any of the characters were ever in danger. um And there were so many scenes, so many scenes where they just figure out what to do. Like every scene would be this. It would be literally be this. It's like, OK, how are we going to stop Vecna? I don't know. Like he's he's blocked this and like, wait a minute.
00:25:35
Speaker
Why don't we just, if we see, if we travel north to this point, like someone just would always like snap to them and they'd be like, wait. And then they take like an object and they'd be like, look, okay. If the Demogorgons are coming over here and Vecna is over here, what we have to do, like it it happens like 17 times to the point where anytime they're in a rut, I'm like, okay, I'm going to look at my watch and someone figures it out right now. Like it's, it was that scene over and over again.
00:26:03
Speaker
I mean, In the theme of the 1980s. Uh huh. Yeah, that's on point. I get it. That's kind of what happened in the TV shows back then. So it's kind of on point. i don't know if that was purposeful, but yeah, for me, that, that, that it didn't bother also, I else know that didn't bother me at all. I did not, I did not believe for a second that final fight with, uh, the giant, um, like spider thing. thing Yeah. Because the the, The plan that that wasn't as climactic as it should because the plan was so they're in this, you know, they're in that outside realm and they're and the plan is like, look, I'm going to be bait, which, by the way, the sister becomes like Rambo all of a sudden. She's like, OK, I'm going to be the bait and it's going to chase me. You guys see those cliffs 30 miles away, climb up to those cliffs, get on top, and then we're going to attack it. And in five minutes, these these kids run over to the cliffs and they get to the top of a cliff.
00:26:58
Speaker
They get to a top. they They climb those cliffs. In minutes while L is just fighting. that It was just so it was too convenient. and um And then they're like stabbing the bottom. I just felt like they had they needed something to do. I think you could have got rid of all that and just have it be about L versus Vecna.
00:27:17
Speaker
And maybe maybe I don't know. L. So here's the thing. Here's the thing when it comes to um if I may say here's the thing when it comes to critiquing something that's finished, which I'm doing right now.
00:27:29
Speaker
It's easy to do it when it's over. i So I just want to put it out there that I wasn't in the writer's room. if If you gave me a blank piece of paper and said, write season five of Stranger Things, this would be a different conversation. So I just want to give credit where credit's due. I understand how difficult it is. You also don't know what executives are you know breathing down your shoulder.
00:27:50
Speaker
Yeah, we had exactly. what control so This is just me talking bullshit. You know, um I still respect the writers and in everything they've done, but there was just some stuff that was a little bit too convenient.
00:28:01
Speaker
um And then ah the L sacrificing herself, but not really. I thought that was kind of clever. um I thought it would be. It had to be done. It had to be unless there was a way where and this now now this is just like ah told you this is just like a a a ah fan idea. Do you think there would have been a way? And this reminds me of ah the ending of Secret World of Alex Mack. I don't know if you remember that ending.
00:28:27
Speaker
Did you just compare Stranger Things to the Secret World of Alex? It's kind of the same show. Secret World. It's not. Ron. Secret World. of No, she's an alien.
00:28:39
Speaker
Secret World of Alex. No, it's not. Alex Mac's not an alien. she yeah She got the shit heard the radioactive waste on her. She was a science secret world of Alex Mac.
00:28:51
Speaker
No, I got to say not the same. I mean, I'm just going to say Alex Mac is a secret world of Alex Mac and stranger things are the same show. No, they're not. Yes, they. Look, tell me the difference. I dare There are similarities.
00:29:05
Speaker
There are similarities, but that doesn't mean it's the same fucking show. I think that Stranger Things should have had the ending of Secret World of Alex Mack. Okay, do you remember the finale? I don't even remember the alex Secret World of Alex Mack. I'll tell you. Please do. Listen, sin brother, I'll tell you the ending of the Secret World of Alex Mack. Yeah. It was the best ending.
00:29:25
Speaker
It was the greatest ending. this The short of this video will be called Ron gets annoyed with Rob. Go, god That's just every episode, bro. um Oh God, this one's pushing the limits. Okay, so so if I may say the ending of Secret World of Alex Mack, which I love that show and i had a huge crush on her. like It was a great show. It was like that I had such a huge crush on her that when they introduced that boyfriend character, oh, I was pissed.
00:29:47
Speaker
I was like, get him the fuck out of here. i I deserve I deserve her anyway. But anyway, the the ending of the finale of Secret World of Alex Mack is I forgot why they did this. I think her dad was like a scientist and he made he figured out a cure to her powers and he gave her the vial and said, if you take this, your powers are gone.
00:30:12
Speaker
And the last shot of the show is her like looking out. I don't know if she's like at a cliff or something. And she looks at the vial, looks up the camera, smiles, cuts. And you so you don't know if she got rid of her powers or not. However, with Stranger Things, it could have been a situation too where maybe Elle doesn't have to leave. Somehow her powers are gone. So whatever blood the military wants, it's going to be useless.
00:30:41
Speaker
So she becomes a normal kid like everyone else. What do you think? Ron. um No. Why? Why, Ron? why not to say No.
00:30:52
Speaker
No. She had to sacrifice herself. There was no cure. That was the whole point. no Her father was a policeman. But what if there there was no cure? What if there was? There was no cure. But there could have been. Elle had no cure. She had to sacrifice herself. Sarah Connor could have helped or something. I don't know.
00:31:07
Speaker
Sarah Connor.
00:31:10
Speaker
Oh, yeah. That was another thing, too. After all that happened, none of them were arrested. They killed like 40 army people people in the military. person we we Listen, that's for us to talk about. and Yeah. All right. None of them were arrested. Of course not.
00:31:25
Speaker
All right. Well, you know what he is. The 80s. Get away with shit. That's true. Kids can do cocaine. It didn't matter. It didn't matter. It didn't matter. all right. Shake hands. Apologize. Yeah.
00:31:37
Speaker
But, you know, sorry. here But overall, ah despite all that funny ranting, ah I did. I had a good time with the show. The show deserves every piece of credit it gets. It was phenomenal. I would say the Duffer Brothers, fantastic. Oh, yeah, dude. Like, sure. We could pick apart a show all day. It doesn't matter what they accomplished is it. it It's great. I mean, i mean, holy shit. What a show. And I would even season one for me, um which I had heard was supposed to be like a limited series, like season one was its own contained story.
00:32:13
Speaker
Uh, and I've, I've derived a lot of inspiration cause it's out on the internet. If you want to read it, you can, the pitch Bible for season for stranger things is out to the public.
00:32:23
Speaker
Um, season one is phenomenal and that's one was great. Season one is season five. There's such season five got kind of into like Marvel territory where season one a little bit is just like pure, which I loved. It's just these kids on bikes figuring out a mystery.
00:32:40
Speaker
That's all season one was. And man, oh, they hit the nostalgic, you know, nerve. They did. It did everything it was supposed to do. Yeah, I agree. Everything it was supposed to do. So and that that got us. Everybody hooked on that show for four more seasons.
00:32:57
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And i'm I'm a little sad it's over because it was something to look forward to. But, um you know, I A good show, a great show should not go on that long.
00:33:09
Speaker
um A perfect, you know, leave the audience wanting more or have it come to a good ending. Like i thought another shit work season four ending. I thought was great. If the show ended at Schitt's Creek. Oh yeah. Schitt's Creek, which I love Schitt's Creek. Everyone wanted that to continue. Right.
00:33:26
Speaker
but they ended it right when they needed to. And I think Stranger Things did the same thing. But yeah, season four Stranger Things, I forget how it ends. I remember loved it. I know, I need to rewatch it, but I want to say they like shot Vecna out and he's like burning up. and like you You could sell it as if they defeated him. that That I think was their best season.
00:33:44
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. And props to Kate Bush coming, making a return. I know. Can you imagine her, like, sitting down and, like, being like, excuse me, what's a big hit? What's the biggest song right now? My song from the 80s? What?
00:33:59
Speaker
Kate Bush is huge. Oh, yeah. and Yeah. Huge star. And it's crazy. If you ever want to see Kate Bush, if she ever decides to perform again, I think she performed 10 years ago and this it sold out within minutes. um She does not fly. She's terrified of flying and will not get on an aircraft.
00:34:15
Speaker
So if you want to see her, you have to go to Europe. Wow. That's crazy. She does not fly. Um, little no but kate bush that's cool. Well, uh, yeah. So, um, excuse me, props to stranger things. Congratulations. It's really also, I just want to say too, it's really hard to end a series you know, that's going to satisfy everyone.
00:34:39
Speaker
ah It just is. and up But I absolutely agree with you that a show should end. um It doesn't have to end at its highest point, but it should end near it. Like Breaking Bad, five seasons ended strong.
00:34:52
Speaker
um I have a confession. You haven't seen Breaking Bad. Have you? Okay. Nope. All right, guys. Thank you for listening to the podcast um with Robert Dunn.
00:35:03
Speaker
And that's it. Never seen Game of Thrones either. either that' so So I've seen all of Game of Thrones. That's a big show to get. I actually actually protested Game of Thrones. i actually didn't watch it for protesting. Yeah. But Breaking Bad, they needed that.
00:35:16
Speaker
What? Go on, go on. I was going to say Breaking Bad is just great. It's just great storytelling. I mean, oh that's why I want to get into, is it Pluribus? ah I don't know if I'm pronouncing it right. It's Vince Gilligan's new show, and I hear it's phenomenal.
00:35:31
Speaker
I have yet to watch it, but I will. um Vince Gilligan is just a, he's just the master class of like television writing. Like, um, But Breaking Bad, man, i I would highly suggest checking it out. I've watched videos on how the pilot is like how they told the story of the pilot. Like everything about it is just like a master class in TV writing.
00:35:55
Speaker
So I highly recommend. Yeah. When that was airing, I was working a lot of nights, so I never had a chance to watch it. That's OK. You know, I was and I'm not upset. Game of Thrones. I did not watch because they canceled my show that I was watching Bored to Death.
00:36:11
Speaker
Because they needed more funding for Game of Thrones. Oh, well. It was on a cliffhanger. I never knew what happened. Damn. Didn't know if he slept with his sister or not. so Well, in Game of Thrones, answer is yes. Everyone sleep with his sister. So I guess I got the answer. Yeah. um But you know what's interesting about Stranger Things? A character that i I was not a fan of but grew on me, honestly, in the last season was Max.
00:36:37
Speaker
um i I liked Max the entire time. Okay, so I did not like Max. I like the actress. I saw the whale. think she's great. um so this has nothing it wasn't the well yeah yeah So this has nothing to do with the actress. It's just the character. um I didn't like her. I think she was introduced season two, and I didn't like her at first because season one was so phenomenal, and I fell in love with these groups of this group of friends you fall in love with immediately, their their quirkiness, how silly they are.
00:37:06
Speaker
And then Max came in as such a downer and making fun of them for the way that they Did you see her stepbrother? Yeah. But no, yeah it doesn't matter to me. Like, i and I understand why she's a dick in it. But it was just...
00:37:23
Speaker
I, I don't know. I understand why you're an asshole. You're abused by your stepbrother, but, um, no excuses, bitch. Well, I have a thing about our stepbrother too, which I think is interesting. Um, so I just, it just rubbed me the wrong way. I was like, look, I don't even know who you are. You're making fun of these guys, but then they're also trying to include her in stuff and make her part of the pact. And I'm like, why? Like she's a downer, but then, you know, she earns her way ah as the season goes on. That was just my first gut reaction, but that, wow. That brother character. This woman coming into this show. I don't like it How dare you? Like L was awesome. I loved all the characters. I love.
00:38:03
Speaker
Wow. um Anyway. And I like Max. Max just had to grow on me, but her brother. Max's max's boyfriend. Real quick. i just want to touch on that. I forget his name right now, but. ah That's love right there, man.
00:38:14
Speaker
Yeah. That's love. I saw at a young age. I mean, and because that's love. I saw a fanra fan theory that they'd want him, not a fan theory, but fan casting as him as Miles Morales. That'd be kind of cool.
00:38:28
Speaker
But know I don't know if he has any Hispanic side to him. I know Miles Morales is like, um but ah the the Max's brother, yeah, he was ah a fucked up character, but I feel like they ended his character too soon. Cause did you pick up that he was in the closet?
00:38:52
Speaker
Of course. Yeah, I did too. of course I did. And I was really wanting this arc. I think it was intended for us to pick it up. yeah I think so too. And I was, I was like, cause he was also like the hot new thing and all the like moms were looking at him and he just didn't seem to have any interest. Yeah, that was weird.
00:39:08
Speaker
You know? Yeah. But, ah but I just, this character arc of him being this like abusive piece of shit person into this like, Hey, maybe he's been like,
00:39:20
Speaker
I don't want to say victim, but like he's been torturing himself. I just thought that would have been cool. But we did kind of already get that with um with a Will, not Will's brother. ah the The bully, ah the shit, what's his name?
00:39:34
Speaker
I don't know. Why am not? Because Harry Harrison, Harrison. OK, right. That's the was he the guy who ran the um the guy who sings the beginning.
00:39:47
Speaker
The what? You know the song End of Beginning? We're very bad at this game. End of beginning. Another vision of me.
00:39:58
Speaker
I was in it. fucking Stop it. Stop Stop. Stop. Anyway, that song is great. And I think ah Harrison sings it. But he was the bully turned good. So I guess you can't really have two people.
00:40:12
Speaker
Like that. Anyway, we could I'm done talking about Stranger Things. I liked it as a whole. Sure, there was problems with the finale, in my opinion. But hey, I'm just one guy with an opinion who gives a shit. Good job to the Duffer brothers for making a phenomenal series.
00:40:29
Speaker
You done? Are you sure? You good? Yeah, right. I'm finished. What else would you like to talk about today? you i don't know. You tell me. you You go. What did you want to transition into? Well, okay. We can make this one quick because you were saying, you know, Kate Bush is afraid of flying. She is. i i I will admit I get uneasy with with takeoff um every time. Do you get uneasy at all during takeoff at all?
00:40:57
Speaker
ah No, not usually. Due to recent events of, you know, shit happening on yeah a little bit as of late, but because that's just me in my mind. But no, not really. Okay. um I mean, I mean, to to be perfectly honest, when something is going to go wrong on an aircraft, it's takeoff or landing.
00:41:13
Speaker
That's usually when it happens. So those are usually the most dangerous parts of flying. um Not because they are dangerous. It's just that the highest percentage of something could go wrong. Okay.
00:41:23
Speaker
But it's not dangerous. No. How do you feel about commercial flying versus private flying? Because I know know that I will get on a commercial plane before I get into a private plane. That's not how I feel too. Cause I know private, it's just, it's a smaller plane and it's, it's just more dangerous, right?
00:41:42
Speaker
It's, it's not, I mean, smaller aircrafts, you feel more, especially in the back of a plane. So if you're taking a little, like, you know, 12 seater plane, you know, to this little island, because that's the only way to get there.
00:41:53
Speaker
Okay, fine. But um a lot of shit can go wrong. Yeah. And those private planes, sometimes I just have one engine. um Yeah, I'm not. I mean, if it's like a like an executive jet kind of thing, i would sure, I would get on that.
00:42:08
Speaker
Sure. um But those little tiny private planes, like let's say you go to remote parts of Alaska that you need get those little private jets on. Yeah, no thank you. nope Yeah, I'm thinking more like ah luxury, like if you're super rich and you fly private. So those are those I would get on, yes. Usually those pilots those pilots are obviously trained, you know, well-trained. you know yeah I would get on those, yes. Those don't bother me, but also it depends on where we're going.
00:42:33
Speaker
Right, right. You know. If I'm flying to like Tampa, for example, from New York on one of those jets, sure, I'd take one. Not a problem. Okay. But if I'm, like I said, but if I'm flying to like some little remote place where this pilot's not used to flying over, wet flying ah in certain types of weather or flying in mountainous regions, things like that, where the the air can change constantly, no thing. Yeah. No.
00:42:56
Speaker
Okay. I mean, that's fair. i always wondered that um because always thought it would be cool. Like if I flew back to Spring Hill and this, I would have to have a lot of money for this. If I flew private to Spring Hill, can't I land in that like veteran brook hill over regional? Yes, you can. Yeah. can I would look, can you, Oh, that'd be so cool. Just landing right into Spring Hill. Like instead of going. So a lot of, a lot of pilots, what they do, um,
00:43:22
Speaker
Because, you know, pilots

Commercial vs. Private Flying

00:43:23
Speaker
make a shit ton of money. A lot of them will fly into the airport, you know, go to their local airport, let's say, and it's ah in Atlanta. I'm just not saying it it is Atlanta, but we'll say, for example. And then a lot of them have private planes.
00:43:34
Speaker
Okay. And they will get, they will fly and then they will get in their private plane, take off and fly home to whether their remote little place or wherever they live and fought land at their local airport. Yeah, man, that's got to be like a 20 minute flight. Let's say you fly.
00:43:48
Speaker
Yeah, it's short. Let's say you fly into Tampa, right? Then you got your plane parked to Tampa. You go take your plane, you go land in Brooksville, and then you there you go. OK, cool.
00:43:59
Speaker
Yeah, somebody it's kind of cool. It's like, you know, it's like oh I'm going fly home. But yeah, OK, I'm good. We now enter this segment of the podcast where Robert steps away for a moment and leaves Ron by himself.
00:44:14
Speaker
Please enjoy. yeah I was told to cut right now because Rob's using the bathroom. 50-50 chance he may come back with his jacket on or off. I'm not entirely sure. We're going to get into this later, but ah Crumble Cookie fucking sucks.
00:44:30
Speaker
I said it. Fucking suck. Not good. This will probably be cut out. i don't fucking care. what's They bring a gluten-free option. Maybe. you But I've said this before. If you sponsor me...
00:44:42
Speaker
I will run the marathon of New York City. I will do it, Grumble. And we're back. Oh, hey. What'd miss? but All right.
00:44:52
Speaker
ah Did you hear any of that? No, I didn't. ah Go back and listen to it. Okay. Love it. Is it about crumble and shit? Did we want to talk about the... You had sports stuff. Is that a thing? I have sports stuff. Yes, it's the NFL playoffs. Let's talk about the playoffs. Let's go, brother.
00:45:09
Speaker
Playoffs. I like playoffs. A lot of exciting football this weekend. A lot of exciting football this weekend. Let's start off with... lot exciting football this weekend.
00:45:21
Speaker
youre You're a nerd. A lot of exciting football. Let's talk about this. Let's talk about the football. Okay. All right. So, Saturday we had...
00:45:33
Speaker
I'm going to, here we go. Seahawks destroyed the 49ers. Okay. They're out. oh Okay. I'm going to talk. There's one game I want to talk about specifically, and I'm going to talk about at the end. um The Rams and bears of setting loss. um Bears lost the Rams and overtime. Great game last night. um Real back and forth. Hoping the bears would win, but they didn't.
00:45:55
Speaker
that's That sucks. Patriots beat the Texans. I mean, if you throw four interceptions, you're, in a game, you're usually not going to win it. So, um, sorry, Texans.
00:46:07
Speaker
So for the, so, and then the last game I want to talk about, this is the visual round of playoffs, the bills and the Broncos. Okay. That game also went into overtime. The Broncos one 33 to 30.
00:46:20
Speaker
I thought, and I've spoken with a lot of people who about this, a lot of shit calls in that game. lot of shit calls. For example, The Bills apparently didn't catch the ball.
00:46:34
Speaker
If they did, they would have been in field goal range and could have won the game in overtime. Or won the game. I forget. I think it was in overtime. But huh they say that the Denver Broncos player stripped the ball from him.
00:46:46
Speaker
Nay, nay. He was fucking down. It was a catch. He had control of the ball. He was down by contact, legally, down by contact, and they said the Broncos stripped the ball away from him.
00:46:56
Speaker
No, it was a shit call. I think the refs were... That game was fixed. I do. They did everything they can. And then they just started calling ah penalties, um... pass interference and shit like that. So I think, I think the fix was in to everything to keep the bills um from winning. I really do. And Josh Allen, you know, great guy, you know, talking about how he let everyone down. No, Josh, you didn't let anyone down, buddy.
00:47:20
Speaker
You didn't. You, you did play a great game. You got fucked by the referees. You know it ah be because he's a quarterback. He's going to take the responsibility. Yeah. Right. So, You know, it sucks because I know the the Bills Mafia, the bill you know Bills Nation.
00:47:34
Speaker
My heart goes out to you guys. You guys got fucked. 100% fucked. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. So now for the AFC Championship, we have the Broncos and the Patriots. I will be going for the Broncos. Let's fuck the Patriots.
00:47:49
Speaker
Then we have the Seahawks versus the Rams. I will be going for the Seahawks because I hate the Rams more than anything in the world. And tonight... I do. I hate the fucking Rams. If you look at the history of the Buccaneers and the Rams, yeah, that's why I hate the Rams.
00:48:03
Speaker
um And tonight you have the University of Miami playing the University of Indiana for the college football playoff championship. um That should be an awesome game.
00:48:13
Speaker
look Hopefully Miami prevails. Looking forward to that.
00:48:18
Speaker
That's it. That's all I have. That's all the exciting That was sports with Ron. Yeah, well, exciting stuff. That is pretty cool. I mean, I can get into baseball trades and stuff, but I really don't want to because they're just painful, and I don't want talk about right now. Maybe when the season gets closer, like next month when pitchers and catchers report. But, yeah, no.
00:48:39
Speaker
Okay. Well, hey, you know, that that was sports with Ron. I appreciate. I want to jingle. appreciate. Oh, you want to jingle? I eventually i'm just telling you Ron. We're Ron. That's fun about sports.
00:48:53
Speaker
Too many words. Score the points. All right. Well, that was great. um What else? What else we talking about today? It looks like ah I lost my schedule. Um,
00:49:06
Speaker
Okay, so speaking of sports, actually. Well, actually, we can get into some cold jokes. We do a joke. That's fine. And then I actually have a sports thing I want to ask you about. So this is a segment.
00:49:18
Speaker
you write you You have a cold joke today? I have a cold joke for you buddy. I got one, too. Okay, guys, welcome to the segment called Cold Jokes, where we read each other's jokes and we've never read them before. This will be the first time we see them. This is Cold Jokes.
00:49:33
Speaker
Oh! from your cold joke. All right. So who wants to go first, Ron? You want to go first? can first because my computer's being slow as it always is. I might have to type it out.
00:49:43
Speaker
But um all right. Go ahead, buddy. All right. So here I'm going to post my joke and then Ron is going to read it. Ron has never seen this before. um So here we go. Making sure that my typos are not typoing.
00:49:59
Speaker
um OK, it's fine. you You can get through it. Here we go. Here's my joke.
00:50:07
Speaker
him Elon Musk announced that the self-driving feature on Tesla will now switch to a monthly subscription because as we all know, the best part of buying a Tesla is paying Tesla to drive your Tesla.
00:50:23
Speaker
Very good. Yeah, I'm not a big, time I'm not a big Tesla fan. It's a not for me. Yeah, I i was ah surprised to see that because the whole point, I feel like buying a Tesla outside of the, you know, electric is that it self drives and now you have to pay for it. I wonder if they're going to allow password sharing, but I doubt it.
00:50:49
Speaker
um I'm sure in Netflix, they're going to use Netflix's model um and go about it from there. So ah yeah that is my cool joke. Ron is currently typing up his. Yeah, it's being too slow.
00:51:01
Speaker
Yeah, it happens. You know, what are you going to do? So let's see. Let's see. And then we do later in the segment, we do have one penetrating question. So we're going to get to that as well.
00:51:15
Speaker
So stay tuned, everyone. How's it working? How's that cold joke coming on Almost there, people. we are so close. It's a long joke.
00:51:27
Speaker
No, just I just mind i suck at typing. Oh, it's okay.
00:51:33
Speaker
Hold on. oh Almost there. Almost there. It's all right. Yeah, because the next segment I want to talk about is sports related, but it has to do with movies, everyone. So any Nick Cage fans out there, i you might like this.
00:51:48
Speaker
um so It actually tickles my fancy because I'm not even a sports guy, but I kind of want to talk about this. Oh, we got we do have the cold Joe. Cool. All right. This is from Ron.
00:52:00
Speaker
It's negative one degree and feels like negative 17 degrees in Minneapolis. The ICE agents are complaining it's too cold. Aren't they trained for this? It's in their name.
00:52:11
Speaker
Oh. They they they should. i they should They're not cold. They're definitely not hot agents. oh no No. Well, they might be in good shape. you never know They're not. um But ah I do find it ironic that I would assume like if we were to talk about stereotypes for a second, would you say that the people who are ICE agents are most likely people who were like anti mask?
00:52:41
Speaker
Maybe. Maybe. Because if that if that's the case, they're all of them wear masks now. Yeah, it's it's kind of a... it Yeah, is ironic. yeah It's... ah Yeah.
00:52:57
Speaker
It's win-convenient, right? you know? Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, just thought it was fun. um Yeah. That's what fun is. So, guys, ah thing I was talking about before...
00:53:09
Speaker
I don't know if you heard about this. i don't know if we've even talked about this before. Are you excited for the Nick Cage, John Madden movie?

Nicholas Cage as John Madden

00:53:19
Speaker
I am excited. Absolutely. I think he, I think nikay Nick Cage is a great actor. Love his work.
00:53:24
Speaker
Love his work. Ever seen the movie pig? Oh yeah. Love that fucking movie. Really? That was like his favorite movie that he's ever. Yeah. That was, think it filmed. Was it filmed in Florida?
00:53:35
Speaker
No, was filmed in Oregon. I believe. Oh, okay. Okay. Nevermind. um I loved it. I thought i thought that movie was great, but i I'm excited for this movie. I think Nick Cage... it's kids To see somebody play John Madden is interesting, and i think Nick Cage is going to be the only one to pull it off.
00:53:52
Speaker
Do you think he'll get the voice down? Close to, I'm sure, yeah. Yeah. um I mean, he comes from a talented family, so... I i also... um I'm also not someone who's that much of a stickler on like getting the voices down with someone.
00:54:12
Speaker
um if If I can just believe that it's you, that's great. But hey, if you do get the voice down, then cool. Like Elvis, he did get his voice down. um Yeah. But I thought Chalamet did a pretty good Bob Dylan.
00:54:26
Speaker
Oh, I didn't see that one. i was good, actually. was actually very good. But ah yeah, ah there's that one. There was a, oh yeah, I'm i'm curious, the Michael Jackson movie as well. ah Yeah, so that's the one you have to get the voice down for that one. You have to. yeah That's kind of, you know, that's, his voice was iconic yeah and more than just singing. So yeah.
00:54:48
Speaker
I think that's going to like be huge. It's either going to be the greatest film greatest Michael Jackson thing since Michael Jackson, or it's going to be a complete flop. one of the two yeah there's no the only criticism I saw was that first of all it's his nephew playing him which is awesome yeah which is awesome in that uh I mean we've talked about this before uh that he didn't look exactly like Michael Jackson it's like well yeah because he's not he's yeah no I don't need them to look exactly like Michael old Jackson but when I see that I'm like that I have to go that's Michael Jackson yeah yeah like uh it's called acting
00:55:23
Speaker
Yeah, like what's his name who played Elvis? There was certain shots where he looked like Elvis, but for the most part, in my opinion, I didn't think he looked like Elvis at all, but I still believed it. Like it did. It wasn't important. Like it was like he's embody he's embodying the character. did a great job. Yeah, um exactly. Embodying the character. Like Robin Williams didn't look like President Eisenhower.
00:55:44
Speaker
That's true. Yeah. Okay. And Lee Daniels, the butler. He did not look like Eisenhower at all, but he played it. And I was like, okay, that's Eisenhower. Yeah. There you go. um So, yeah, don't be a hater, guys, because we're going to get into some hateful stuff right now. um We are. Isn't that right? Isn't that right, Ron?
00:56:04
Speaker
We are. Isn't that right? Yes. Something you've you've been wanting to talk about. about This is just cookie further proving my argument that I am right in this and you are wrong.
00:56:17
Speaker
Oh. So I'm on the phone with my mama, with my mother. Uh-huh. And my mother, she's like, yeah, your sister, she was going to crumble. And out of nowhere, where she goes, cookies are overrated. I'm like, thank you. Wow. Thank you.
00:56:32
Speaker
Mama says they're overrated. I was talking to a guy. I was talking to a guy at my local bar last night and also said crumble sucks. We happen to talk about crumble. And he's like, well, I was talking about the podcast and he goes, crumble sucks. I go, thank you.
00:56:47
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Crumble sucks. So... Well, you surround yourself with negative people. These are two people. We're not angry people. We just think... We just think crumble sucks. It's not as good as what everybody makes it out to be.
00:57:00
Speaker
Or what you make out so I'll even admit there's someone that I know ah that I have no respect for, by the way. i actually... dislike this person. They also said crumble is overrated also from New York. So I'm wondering, is it a New York thing? Do New Yorkers just not like crumble?
00:57:19
Speaker
Maybe I, we do a better, i we have a lot of cookie options here. Schmackery's chip city, Levain bakery. Um, we have, you know, the world fan, they're not known for their cookies, but Magnolia Bakery makes cookies. Like, everyone has cookies.
00:57:34
Speaker
And they're good. Magnolia Bakery's cookies were actually good. I used to work for them, so I can i know. um Okay. Crumble, I just think they taste too processed. I just think they're too processed tasting. I really do.
00:57:46
Speaker
Well, I actually was thinking about getting some today. go right ahead, Robert. right ahead. Because here's my thing. how do you This is more about a flavor.
00:57:58
Speaker
How do you feel about this Dubai chocolate craze? have you So I can't, i did the phyllo dough in the chocolate, so I can't really eat it unless I find a gluten-free one. however i was like pachios so it ground up?
00:58:12
Speaker
It's pistachio cream mixed with phyllo dough shreddings. Oh, okay. And that kind of gives it its crunch thing. um I mean, pistachio and chocolate are a great combination. So I understand the love for it.
00:58:23
Speaker
ah But the craze, don't know. Cause it's expensive too. It is pricey. Yes. Pistachios can get expensive when they're in cream form. Yes. That's so weird because ah Crumble just came out with a new Dubai chocolate cookie.
00:58:39
Speaker
Oh, cool. That's kind of why I want to try it. ah Yeah. But I've had Dubai chocolate before and it's good, but it's not like i'm I'm not like, oh, I'm willing to pay top dollar for this. I love pistachio flavor.
00:58:51
Speaker
I do like but like pistachio gelato, like real pistachio gelato, not that neon green stuff, which I also love, too. But ah I love the flavor. Pistachio. Love it. Okay. Okay. So I would like Dubai chocolate. It's just, I can't eat it.
00:59:05
Speaker
Okay. Well, yeah. Anyway, that's, it just reminded me of that. Cause I was thinking about getting crumble today, but yeah, I heard that someone thought crumble is overrated. I still like it, um but that's okay. They have a new peanut butter and jelly cookie. I want to grab. it looks delish.
00:59:22
Speaker
um And ah yeah, we should do like a crumble taste thing on the show sometime. Yeah. That's all you. Because I'm not eating it. No. No, me and you. You get it, get it. eat them,
00:59:34
Speaker
They're made of wheat. Oh. Oh, yeah. forgot. I mean, I could eat them, but, you know, I might end up shitting myself on the air, and we don't want that. No, we'll just cut. It's fine. Yeah, fine. We'll cut out you shitting yourself.
00:59:46
Speaker
Yeah, we'll just cut it out. I'll just cut it out.
00:59:50
Speaker
Yeah. But yeah, I think that's great. ah Cool. So um we actually have a um a penetrating question today too. We have a PQ. and I know. So guys, if you want to ah submit your penetrating question, um,
01:00:07
Speaker
All you have to do is go to our link tree on our Instagram profile. There's going to be a form to fill out three questions and you can submit your penetrating question. Then we'll answer it on the show.
01:00:18
Speaker
and And once again, the segment is called
01:00:30
Speaker
So I'm going let you read this one. This is from a T Swifty fan. That's the name. A tweet. I think ah Alan T Swifty fan all just says a since the Super Bowl is coming on February 6th.

Super Bowl Predictions

01:00:45
Speaker
Which team do you think will win? Well, considering February 6th. Yeah, it's that the Sunday, February 6th. I think based on what I saw last night with all the games,
01:01:00
Speaker
Oh, I don't want the Rams to win. I really don't. I hate the fucking Rams. um I think... Who's house? Rams house. That's what I remember when I went to SoFi Stadium. They would just chant that over and over. Stop talking. Just what they did. Just what they did. I don't care.
01:01:23
Speaker
i think... The Rams could win it all. That is very possible. I don't think... think Seattle's going to beat Los Angeles. And as far as the AFC goes... Oh, I think the Patriots are going to prevail. So I think it's going to be Seattle and New England. And I'm going to go for Seattle.
01:01:48
Speaker
i think... Okay. but I think... see You know, the Patriots might do it. They look really good. They look really good. They might win. um So I don't want to say going to because I don't like the Patriots. I'm going to go Seattle. I think Seattle is going to win it all.
01:02:12
Speaker
All right, guys, the votes are in. I think Seattle's going it. I mean, just Ron. seattle i think Seattle predicted to be the winner of Super Bowl 2026, right? 2026. They do it by, i think it's Super Bowl 60, actually. but 60? 60, 6-0, yeah.
01:02:30
Speaker
Whoa, that's a lot. Yeah. Cool. Well, last that's cool. they hit they hit ah They're doing something special. du do When do they announce the halftime? At halftime. Halftime artists.
01:02:41
Speaker
Oh, they've already announced it. It's Bad Bunny. What? Bad Bunny? Do you not? Do you see so speak English? So that that ah a lot of people are pissed off about that. Yeah. What the fuck? Is he even from my country?

Puerto Rico and American Citizenship

01:02:54
Speaker
ah Yes, he's from Puerto Rico. So, yes, he's from America. um Technically, yes, absolutely. It's America. I think it's a blue passport on birth. Yep. He's a citizen. um Sweet.
01:03:05
Speaker
dude But there is there is a whole controversy thing about him singing in Spanish during the halftime show. um h um Erica Kirk's foundation. and I don't talk about these people often, but I'm just saying it for the sake of the, of the segment. um I believe, i think it's turning point USA. Is that what their organization's called? I think they're doing their own version of a halftime show. So people don't have to last year too.
01:03:28
Speaker
I don't know. i don't recall. No, no, they did it. No, you're right. So they're doing it this year to come compete with bad bunny. um

Halftime Show Controversy and NFL Decisions

01:03:39
Speaker
I mean, I'm not a fan of Bad Bunny's music. That's just me. Were they going to have some country star?
01:03:44
Speaker
Yeah, so there's a few so country stars. Yeah, something like that. yeah I'm not a fan of his music. However, he's the most popular artist in the world right now. The NFL is a business. Yeah. So they're going to get people... They're going get somebody...
01:03:57
Speaker
that somebody's going watch and that's going to be the, you're going to get worldwide viewership just to tune in for bad money. So it's a very smart business move. And I mean, i mean, how many people sit there and watch, and I'm just going to use an example, Bruce Springsteen, for example, and don't like Bruce Springsteen, but they watch it. So I think it's good that we're changing up the music in it. I mean, like I said, the guy is American.
01:04:17
Speaker
He's, you know, it's, a it's, it's a, it's a, part Puerto Rico is a part of America represented. I think it's, I think it's a good move by the NFL and and they're going to make a lot of money with it. I think so, too. Like, I think that's a good ah decision as well. You know, especially if the fan base is there. Why wouldn't you want? sure Or you're going to create more artists.
01:04:36
Speaker
Right. Right. That, too. Like, um yeah, I think that's great. yeah But yeah, the only other people I know that do like.

Nickelodeon's Kid-Friendly Broadcasts

01:04:46
Speaker
Because doesn't Nickelodeon show Nickelodeon does their own broadcast?
01:04:50
Speaker
Kind of thing. But it's like, yeah, it's just made for kids. It's made for kids. People get slimed and stuff. Yeah, it's fun. It's fun. That's more Patrick. I think it's Patrick and SpongeBob do the commentating.
01:05:02
Speaker
That's a actually that's fine. Good. Yeah. So it's like Tom Kenny and ah shit. What's his name from? Yeah. Tom Kenny. And they're really there the whole time. That's kind of a the guy from coach. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's. um Yeah.
01:05:16
Speaker
It's. ah Yeah. um I know. Yeah. it's I think it's fun. All right. think it's I think I think it's going to be fun. um i They don't do their own halftime show, right? do they they They're just showing. i actually don't know, but I don't think so.
01:05:32
Speaker
Yeah. Okay, cool. Well, do we have a fire bender? Come on, I want to

Cider Tasting and Preferences

01:05:40
Speaker
know I'm not a fire bender. Come on. Fire, fire, fire
01:05:53
Speaker
twoidrs as promise lo Two, count them, two marshmallows. So Ron's going be a little happy before. SpongeBob reference. So I featured this brand last time. This is from the Graft Cider Company.
01:06:06
Speaker
This one is called Farm Floor. It's a dry table cider. It's supposed to be tart and earthy. 6.9%. Here's the can. Looks fun. Wow.
01:06:17
Speaker
It's a sour cider, apparently. h Spanish cedar, American oak, French oak. Oh, this is going to be interesting. Ooh. Oh, yeah.
01:06:29
Speaker
Like that. ah yeah for some Oh, that's my coffee glass. We don't want my coffee glass. No, absolutely not. one Okay. Now I might smell like alcohol.
01:06:43
Speaker
It's fine. What else is there? It's very... Oh, it's clear. Look at this. Kind of clear. Wow. thats Wow. This is probably my favorite part. I'd have to drink down two ciders this morning. Prost.
01:06:56
Speaker
pro
01:07:00
Speaker
That is dry. Well, it's good. it actually tastes very appley. It's like you're biting into an apple almost. Uh-huh. It's good. Okay. Nice. Nice. And the other one. Okay.
01:07:13
Speaker
Tell me you're an alcoholic without telling you're alcoholic. This is, i've I've seen this in stores. I've never bought it before. It's the Aval or Aval. think it's Aval. It's a French cider. Mm-hmm.
01:07:25
Speaker
like it Okay. It's the gold one. it is 6% off. It's French, but there's it's red, white, and blue. Well, so is their flag. I know. know. It does, to be fair, though, it does look like an American flag. Yeah, it does. Like, it has the stripes. It is a smaller can, 11.2. European bottles and cans are 11.2 ounces versus our American fat asses of 12 ounces.
01:07:52
Speaker
I want those 0.8 ounces. I'm proud to be an American. um It is a product of France. It's imported by CNI brands in Manhasset, New York, so it's local-ish. And the ingredients are just cider.
01:08:03
Speaker
So it's just straight up cider. Okay. du Oh, it smells lovely.
01:08:15
Speaker
You got to do one of these with me one day. I know I should, actually. I know you don't drink. I don't drink that much. yeah Oh, I do drink. I just don't drink. yeah I never drink by myself. Yeah. voice is it With the voices of in my head, Rob, I'm never alone.
01:08:30
Speaker
Oh, look at this is dark. Okay. Prost. Ooh. Oh, my. And I have about four packs of this.
01:08:42
Speaker
This is good. Nice. This is a little sweeter, but it is more, it is like a, it's like, it's like the Martinelli cider. Uh-huh. Kind of got a flavor of that, not as sweet.
01:08:53
Speaker
Oh, this is nice. Oh.
01:08:57
Speaker
Wow. ro Well, there we go. everybody There we go, guys. We got we got two beers today. Doubling it up. That's
01:09:09
Speaker
really good. That's my favorite so far. All right. Well, shout out. Is that the French one? That's the French one. Yeah, god of course. Okay. Of course. the french of course, Ron, the liberal likes ah likes a cider from a different country, of course.
01:09:23
Speaker
I know. What the hell? what was going to get a Doc's cider, but I've had it so many times. That's a local one. Yeah, cider is great. Okay. Maybe I should pick up a beer and just do one one time. If you do, if you do it, do it local. Try to stick to something local. And I know California has a lot of great local beers.
01:09:41
Speaker
Yeah, I'll find

Expensive Grocery Store Humor

01:09:42
Speaker
it somewhere. I'm sure my grocery store has them. um but so Your whole foods or maybe your Ralph's. my ah Or my, what is that one called? The Edwigan, whatever store. What's it called? It's like, oh, Earhon. Earhon? E-R-E-W-H-O-N.
01:10:03
Speaker
e r e w h o n E-R-E-W-H. I don't know. Yeah, that is, you look it up, that is the most bougie, super expensive grocery store. That's where you shop? I don't know.
01:10:17
Speaker

But... um I don't think it's, yeah. They deliver to my house. It's just bad when you want. they have gluten-free product, more gluten-free product than anyone else. So, than anyone else in my neighborhood. So, yeah.
01:10:41
Speaker
Yeah.
