Rory McIlroy's Masters Triumph

00:03:29
Speaker
without a further a ado, let's kick this bad boy off. All right.
00:03:32
Speaker
First up, golf and the Masters. Wow. First of all, let'ss let's give a shout-out to Rory McIlroy, who won the tournament in back-to-back years.
00:03:47
Speaker
ah And a funny fact I found online while I was researching this, in shout-out to Shane Peach, on the group chat that sent this, Rory McIlroy has won two Masters titles since the last time the Jets did not have an interception. Now, if you watch, it's tremendous.
00:04:09
Speaker
If you watch Sunday Showdown, you know we talked about this all year long. The Jets did not have an interception with a cornerback, a defensive back as their coach. It seems pretty unfathomable. But the fact that Rory McIlroy was able to do this twice since they did that is even more.
00:04:26
Speaker
But let's talk about Rory. ah this He's had a long, long journey to this moment, Pops. And, I mean, I know you watch golf religiously. Rory McIlroy has...
00:04:37
Speaker
take a ton of lamenting, a ton of criticism for everything from his you know stance on PGA versus LIV. Also the fact that he could never win the big one until just last year where he got the Masters and he completed the Grand Slam. Now we're back to back years. You can see on the screen only four people have ever done that. Jack Nicholas, Nick Faldo, Tiger Woods, and now Rory McIlroy. So tell us what you thought about the Masters Tournament. Tell us what you thought about Rory McIlroy and how he's overcome everything in his career.
00:05:12
Speaker
I mean, that was that that was amazing, you know, just the resilience then that he showed in that last round. Now, you know, obviously, you know, he was cruising in the first couple of rounds, you know, six-stroke lead going into Saturday, and then, you know, reality sinks in.
00:05:33
Speaker
You know, it's like, okay, you know, um'm I'm leading, but, you know, I need to keep the pedal down. So, but, you know, he he was very tentative. He bogeyed the first hole, you know, lost the lead right off the bat.
00:05:47
Speaker
And then, you know, he ended up fighting for his life in the last round. So, but, you know, you got to give him a lot of credit. I mean, he, you know, there were like four different people that were leading,
00:05:59
Speaker
in that last you know round on Sunday. so ah Yeah, so so talk about that because Justin Rose was at negative 12, and he led the first ah you know couple rounds of the tournament, and then he just didn't improve on his score. tell Talk to us.
00:06:14
Speaker
Well, he I mean, early

LIV Golf vs PGA: Impact and Innovations

00:06:17
Speaker
on in the I think it was after in the fourth hole when McIlroy and Young both had a bad hole, young bogey, and McIlroy had a double bogey on that par three.
00:06:35
Speaker
That's when not Justin Rose took the lead, and he was leading, you know ah going into the back nine, and then you know Rory, i mean he had a a two under on Amon's corner, which is you know yes that's pretty solid.
00:06:51
Speaker
For the day after you know the way you know things were going, he was leading, then he was down two strokes too young, then he was down two strokes to ah two rows. And so, I mean, for him to overcome that, I'm a Rory fan. So, you know, I was at a local brewery, you know, watching the other round and it's amazing how many people hate him.
00:07:13
Speaker
You know, I was like, wow, I mean, you know, he I think it's a pretty down to earth kind of guy. I mean, yeah, he stood up for the PGA, you know, against live and And you see now the Lipp players are coming back groveling, you know, one by one.
00:07:29
Speaker
Well, I mean, let's talk about that, though, because in my opinion and what my opinion has always been is that if it wasn't for the LIV, PGA would have never been a better organization for it.
00:07:43
Speaker
and Oh, no. Go ahead. No, yeah in there good i'm gonna go ahead. I mean, obviously, yeah, they, that you know, Lipp forced their hand you know, to improve on a lot of things, you know.
00:07:55
Speaker
So, you know, they came up with the signature events, you know, there's more money out there, but I'm thinking that, you know, you see people like Kupka and, you know, they're they're thinking it's like the competition over there is not like in the PGA overall, you know? So, yeah, they they may be giving you millions more, but do you want to compete against the very best week in and week out or, you know?
00:08:22
Speaker
So I don't know No, you're not wrong. That's what Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon, I'm pardoning the interruption, say. They always talk about, well, if you're not playing in the PGA, you're not playing in the major tournaments, then what are you really doing playing golf? But at the same time, we come out here to feed our families. We need to make sure that we're making the right amount of money. And at the end if you're so saturated, which the PGA was, and in my opinion, needed a competitor because of the saturation. No, you're right. That jolted him.
00:08:53
Speaker
Absolutely. So what do you see going forward? Because it looks like PGA outlasts LIV. It looks like LIV, they're not going to fold.
00:09:04
Speaker
They're going to continue on, but it looks like they've a acquiesced to the PGA in terms of giving their players back and stuff. What do you think about that? I mean, i don't I don't know much about the politics, you know, or anything like that. But, um you know, if they if they want to come back, hey, I mean, you know, come on

MLB Season Kick-off: Mets and Yankees

00:09:23
Speaker
back.
00:09:24
Speaker
We welcome you in the PGA. you know I'm um um'm a fan of the PGA. I'm not not a big fan of Liv. I haven't really watched you know that much. I've seen a couple of competitions here and there, but you know I haven't seen much. so It's all team oriented.
00:09:44
Speaker
It's not that you're against the course kind of stuff. So...
00:09:51
Speaker
So... I guess, I mean, because I like Liv. I like the kind of different format, a little different from golf, just like I like the, you know, the TGL they play on ESPN. Yeah, you're not going against the best golfers every year. Yes, you're not technically in the PGA, but at the same time, again, I feel like The PGA had just lost its luster.
00:10:13
Speaker
It was after Tiger Woods came along and fell off. It was a bunch of golfers, Scotty Scheffler, Roy McIlroy, Justin Rose, all these other people that came along, you know, ah bryan Bryson DeChambeau, that just did not have the level of golf skills in order to make the game happen.
00:10:38
Speaker
Amicable to people that are not watching. You are not the consumer that they need to be targeting. You're and ah already a consumer. You watch every week regardless of what tournament they're playing.
00:10:52
Speaker
You're not the one. They need to reach people like me and me personally. I watch golf. I watch both LIV and PGA, but people like me that are my age, maybe younger in my in my category.
00:11:04
Speaker
um they're not watching either. And if they were to watch one, they're probably going to start watching something that's more a little different variation of regular golf like the live or T or TGL.
00:11:18
Speaker
What do you think about that?
00:11:21
Speaker
I mean, I'm old fashioned, so, you know, I like the PGA. ah Yeah, I mean, the live and the the electronic, you know, game that they play on on TV, I mean, that's you know that's fine for you know people that you know want to you know me know perhaps just dip into the game.
00:11:43
Speaker
ah you know Golf is hard. you know it's It's just not an easy game. you know so ah you know People watch these you know folks on TV, the ladies and the men's and whatever. and you know They're great players, you know but even they make mistakes. you know So you saw it over the weekend.
00:12:04
Speaker
You know, so ah ah I don't know. That may be a viable product for the younger generations, you know, going forward. You know, I don't know. But the PGA, I don't think the PGA is going away anytime soon.
00:12:20
Speaker
No, the PGA is never going to go away. I think we and think we know that. that's It's the preeminent golf organization. But obviously, if you don't have competition in any business, you're going to just become complacent.
00:12:33
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. yeah but you doing you know You'll be stagnant. you know You're not going to be innovative. So, yeah, I got it. I'm sure Liv put a lot of pressure on the PGA. And, you know hey, they they they responded. They made some changes.
00:12:48
Speaker
you know, increased purses, a lot of signature events that play, you know, pay a lot more. So, but you're right when you have so many players on the PGA and the purses are, you know, not as hot as big as what Liv was offering some of his players or still does. I don't know. Hey, you got to do what you got to do, you know, to to feed your family, you know? So I'm not going to sit here and and judge, you know, those guys for doing what they did, you know, hey, yeah they did what they thought it was best for you know them so
00:13:27
Speaker
Yeah, and speaking of making money, meca ah Roy McElroy ah earned a master's record $4.5 million dollars for this tournament, going up to $115 million dollars over his career, only $6 million shy of Tiger Woods' total career earnings, which is the best ever.
00:13:49
Speaker
That's a lot of money. yeah Yeah, but you think about it, you know, the just like the and NBA and stuff, the the media rights are getting bigger, more money coming in You can't really compare what he earned to what Tiger earned because if Tiger was 20 years later, he'd earn a lot more.
00:14:04
Speaker
Oh, yeah, absolutely. Yeah. All right. Cool. Well, that

Celtics' Playoff Prospects and Jalen Brown

00:14:08
Speaker
was golf and Rory's masters. Let's go ahead and move it on to major league baseball.
00:14:15
Speaker
Yes. The first week of the season, uh, first two weeks now, um, it's been a crazy first two weeks. Let me go ahead and, uh, turn this down for a second, just so I can, uh, think about this for a second, because we got a tough subject to talk about.
00:14:31
Speaker
Tough little subject to talk about. Baseball is a great sport. ah You know, one of the best sports ever. But for us Mets fans that me and my dad are, it's been a little tough to start the season. And not just for the Mets, but for the Yankees as well. The Athletics.
00:14:50
Speaker
Shout out to de Derek. Yeah, my brother Derek, D. Clue. ah Came through. with the, he's an athletics fan and the athletics look very, very good. Young team. They signed a lot of extensions for the young players. Got a good pitching staff. They're moving to Vegas. And he talked a lot of shit about them sweeping us this weekend. And they also took two of three from the Yankees as well.
00:15:20
Speaker
So not just the Mets, the Yankees and the Mets going down to the athletics. ah Right now, When you look at the standings, Pops, everything's pretty muddled up.
00:15:31
Speaker
Your top team is the Los Angeles Dodgers. They're at Let me go ahead and bring up the my power rankings for the week. So the Dodgers are eleven and four You got the Braves there at 10-7. Padres ten and seven Pittsburgh Pirates, surprisingly, 9-6. And then the Guardians at 9-7, tied with the Twins there. Now, obviously, there's a bunch of jumbling as we start the season. We haven't separated the pack in terms of wins and losses. So there's a bunch 10-6, this is my
00:16:08
Speaker
power rankings. But to start the season, my question is to you, how do you feel about the Mets so far and how we have performed? Juan Soto is hurt.
00:16:19
Speaker
ah What is your thoughts? ah Well, you just said the key words there. Juan Soto is hurt, right? So we are one and six since he you know was put under the Sable list.
00:16:33
Speaker
So yeah know we were six and three. So Yeah, I mean, he makes a big difference for us. so um We just haven't been able to overcome you know that loss. So, you know, ah hopefully we'll get him back here in the next few days and and you know we can pick it up. I mean, it's early, 162 games.
00:16:55
Speaker
hu yeah It's a marathon. So i'm i'm not I'm not worried about it, you know, that we're like, what is it, five and seven right now? Or, wait, no. No, so I think we're six and seven.
00:17:10
Speaker
Six and seven. so Something like that. Anyway. So, yeah yeah. It's the long season. So, I certainly hope I heard something earlier today that ah between the

NHL Spotlight: Alex Ovechkin's Legacy

00:17:23
Speaker
Mets and the Dodgers who are playing, you know, tonight, I guess. We're playing each other. They have like a three-quarter of a billion dollar payroll.
00:17:33
Speaker
Yeah.
00:17:36
Speaker
Yeah, i yeah i saw that I saw that earlier on the note from ESPN. Yeah, between the two teams, they have you know so much more money than everybody. Billions and billions of dollars.
00:17:48
Speaker
So what do you think about that? What do you think about teams having this much money? Do you think the Dodgers and Mets should be able to do this? We talked about this show on my MLB show a couple weeks ago. Do you think there should be a salary cap? MLB has been no salary cap for so many years. What do you think?
00:18:06
Speaker
Well, I'm not sure if the salary cap is the answer, but they're going to have to do something because and things are out of control. You know, and it is not just baseball. You know, it's every sport.
00:18:19
Speaker
um You know, salaries have gone up. The average family just can't go out and, you know, and take out a yeah professional game, you know, because of the, you know, the high cost, you know, the tickets, you know, and and concessions, you know, and everything else. So, hey They're going to have to do something to kind of rein in, you know, some of this. I mean, not every team can buy a championship, you know, like the Dodgers and the and the Yankees can't.
00:18:46
Speaker
Unfortunately, we can't. You know, we spent a lot of money. well yeah I mean, we got the money, but we didn't buy the championship. That's what I'm saying. We haven't been able to buy one yet. So do you think there should be a salary cap installed then?
00:19:04
Speaker
Well, like I said, I don't know if salary re cap is the answer, but if that is the answer, you know, yeah, maybe they they they need to do that, you know?

Personal Sports Stories and Reflections

00:19:13
Speaker
Because, I mean, you you know, the teams that have that're the the deepest pockets, you know, can't afford to pay, you know, for the top talent.
00:19:22
Speaker
Again, doesn't work out for all of them like it hasn't worked out for us. But, you know, it has worked out overall for the Dodgers and for the Yankees.
00:19:33
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Yeah, I mean, the Dodgers have circumvented the cap in ways that we've never seen before. Extending money on deferrals, especially for Shohei Ohtani. Extending that $300 million dollars on deferrals to pay it later.
00:19:52
Speaker
ah And it's not that every team can't do that, but a lot of teams don't have the revenue. We know, yeah you know, the Pittsburgh Pirates, you know, the the Milwaukee, not Milwaukee, they they play put a pretty good team together. ah The Cincinnati Reds, the, you know, Colorado Rockies, teams like this.
00:20:12
Speaker
i know. Okay. They just don't have the team pockets to, ah you know, put together, a yeah you know, the talent. that's required, you know, to win championships. Yeah, yeah. No, I agree. right. Well, hopefully, you know, Soto will come back healthy. One thing I'm very upset about, and I'll talk about this on my MLB program.
00:20:31
Speaker
Paquito, I mean, yo, we're from Caguas, brother. We love you. We love you so much. But what are you doing, my friend? you know So many mistakes. He's ah it's coming along pretty slow. I haven't watched many games, you know, so far because it's such a long season.
00:20:50
Speaker
But I heard some of the miscues that he made. I have the package, so I watch every Mets game, even on replay if I miss it. And he has made ah he made a base running error on third where he was too far off trying

Conclusion and Future Episodes

00:21:08
Speaker
to deke the pitcher and got thrown out.
00:21:10
Speaker
when if he If he would have stayed there, there was a ground ball the next bat that would have scored him and tied the game against the athletics. Then before that, he made a he made two crucial errors in the field and at bat, which cost us as well, runs, and is very unlike him because in my eyes, Francisco Lindor is a top five, top 10 player. in the major league baseball and and our and our best player before juan soto came along and still probably our best player because juan soto hits but he doesn't play defense or anything at least francisco lindor plays shortstop which is the hardest position in the league and he plays it at the best level but he's also been making mistakes at shortstop and it's very concerning
00:21:57
Speaker
Because we need him to be at his best. And we all know he starts off slow. He's hitting, like I think, 150 right now or something. he told Yeah, he's well below 200.
00:22:09
Speaker
Yeah, and you're well below the Mendoza line. You're making errors on the field. That's not a good leader for what you want your team to be. absolutely not.
00:22:21
Speaker
yeah Francisco, we love you from Caguas, and we pray you help us and do better. But come on, brother. You got to be better. Let's go. Got you. Let's go, Mets. I want you.
00:22:32
Speaker
Yankees also got swept. And like I said, we got it we got everybody's pretty much muddled in MLB right now. Top team is L.A. with 11 wins. But a lot of teams there, 10, 9, 8. We'll see how it plays out. But the Mets should be there at some point. It's early on, man, early on.
00:22:50
Speaker
Early on, but it is late in the season for the National Basketball Association. We are at playoff time.
00:23:01
Speaker
Yes, indeed. And look. I will sit here right now as the sports professor. And, i i you know, I always admit my errors. And at the beginning of the season, i said the Celtics would be at fifth, fourth place fighting for, you know, the middle of the pack there in the east. But Jalen Brown, superstar, as I said he was. That was one thing I was right on.
00:23:27
Speaker
I said Jalen Brown was the number one superstar. He is. I did not think we would be this good, not because of him, but because of the backup players that we had. I just felt like we had a bunch of nobodies. But holy shit, it turns out those nobodies are some of the better role players in the league. We got Luke Garza. We got Baylor Shireman shooting threes from half court. We got everybody out here. It's taking the tongue out.
00:23:58
Speaker
How do you feel about the Celtics this season? I'm actually feeling pretty good about them, to be quite honest, man. um um I mean, at the over-under in wins was like 41.5, you know, from the you know all of the so-called experts out there.
00:24:16
Speaker
So the fact that we won, what, 56?
00:24:21
Speaker
That's pretty impressive. You know, that speaks volumes for what, you know, the job that not only Jalen Brown has done, you know, picking up the team on his back, but, you know, coach Missoula, you know, he's done an outstanding job, you know, just, just, just getting the team to gel up and, you know, and, and, and play in the absence of Tatum. Now the fact that he came back, <unk> I was nervous. I'm still little nervous. Every time he goes down, you know, on the floor, you know, whatever, but yeah, I got it. But, uh,
00:24:55
Speaker
but You know, it's like, I mean, I'm i'm feeling very good about us. um I did not think that we would be in the position that we are at the beginning of the season, you know. So um um I actually like our chances, you know, to ah to get to the finals. And, you know, once you get to the finals, hey, you don't know, man, anything can happen.
00:25:25
Speaker
so Yeah, and and I agree. we Our worst chance is going to be against the West because with Kate Cunningham just coming back to the Pistons, there's no telling if he's going to be able to acclimate quickly enough and if the Pistons can really beat the Celtics anyways. um But a seven-game series? I don't think so.
00:25:46
Speaker
That's what I'm saying. So you're looking at a seven-game series. Can the Pistons actually beat the Celtics? I agree. I don't think so either. I think that Joe Mazzulla is I mean, I don't even think. He is one of the best coaches in the and NBA by far. It's crazy that he came from not from West Virginia to this. No NBA experience and just has And maybe that's it. Maybe he brought a little different introspect, whatever. But he is a better coach, a better play caller, a better out-of-timeout play caller than even Brad Stevens or Doc Rivers were.
00:26:22
Speaker
And that's hard to say because both of them were really good as coaches. So when you look at Joe Mazzullo, we're going to do very well with him. I think we get to the finals as well. Unfortunately, i do think we are at a disadvantage when it comes to the West teams.
00:26:38
Speaker
I think the the, I think Thunder can beat us. I think the Spurs can beat us. I think the Rockets can beat us. um I think that we have good bench, but they're also too young, not experienced enough. And I think that a more experienced team like the Thunder would be able to beat us, you know, four to two probably in a series. Yeah. i mean, I, I, I mean,
00:26:59
Speaker
I mean, my heart says Boston, but yeah, you're right. I'm ah thinking that, you know, with my brain, it's like, you know, it's going to be hard to dethrone the, you know, OKC Thunder. Yeah.
00:27:11
Speaker
Yeah. All right. Well, let's take a little quick look at this. Excuse me. Bracket here. We got the play in games. No need to worry about that because none of those teams are going to do anything in the main bracket. They suck, except maybe the Clippers. Maybe.
00:27:26
Speaker
um And I guess Steph Curry did come back to the Warriors. I still can't see that. But let's look at the main bracket here. We got the Pistons. We got the Celtics there. Lakers, it's all LeBron now.
00:27:38
Speaker
Luka and Austin Reeves are hurt and out. You got Denver there with Jokic against the Timberwolves. But Anthony Edwards has been hurt as well. So you're really looking at injuries, really kind of telling the scene here. If we're looking at just injuries, we are assuming that Oklahoma City Thunder will play the Rockets, and we're assuming that the Denver Nuggets will play the San Antonio Spurs in the West. And then in the East, we're expecting that the Pistons will play the Cavs, and we're expecting that the Celtics will play the Knicks. These are the things that we expect from the matchups that we see on the screen with injuries and also just team ability. I cannot see the ah Raptors being...
00:28:20
Speaker
beating the Knicks, and I can't see the Hawks beating the Cavs, no matter how well they've played this year, nor can I see any of the play-in teams beating the main teams. So now that we've brought it down to four teams on both sides, you got Oklahoma City, Rockets, Nuggets, and Spurs in the West. You got Pistons, Cavs, Knicks, and Celtics in in the East are the favorites here. So what are you thinking about the NBA playoffs so far? How do you feel about our Celtics? i know you talked a little bit about it already.
00:28:51
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, um I like our Celtics to take the East, to be quite honest. um That doesn't mean that it's going to happen, but um you know given the fact that the way that they have been able to um integrate Jason Tatum back, you know, after that devastating injury that he had and coming back so quickly. Like I said earlier, I've been nervous. I'm still nervous me too about him playing, but um he's, you know, he's had adopted his game, you know, knowing that Jalen Brown, you know, has been the leading man, you know, on the team. And so, you know, he's been rebounding and assisting and, you know, and when, when Jalen Brown is out, you know, he's been you know, picking up the slack. So I'm just hoping that, you know, we can keep that going and and and and make it to the NBA finals.
00:29:51
Speaker
Now, once we get there, yeah um if it's the OKC Thunder coming out of there, i i ah still think we could win. But, you know, realistically, maybe not.
00:30:06
Speaker
Yeah, I would give us a chance against every other team, but I think we would lose against Oakland. Well, that's what I was going to say. Against any other team, I would give us a chance. Yeah, yeah.
00:30:18
Speaker
Okay, well, we'll see what happens again. agree with my pops. Like, ah you know, the Celtics have a chance to win the championship, but will they beat Oklahoma City in the seven-game finals? That's going to be tough. Oklahoma City has a very, very deep, deep team that is very experienced. So yeah we'll see what happens.
00:30:38
Speaker
All right. Let's move it into the NHL playoffs. Wowzers. And really what I want to talk about here is not as much the NHL playoffs, but Alex Ovechkin.
00:30:52
Speaker
Man, what a superstar. What a player. What a blessing to the Washington, D.C. area where you live and I've been from. um Alex Ovechkin not only gained the scoring record, but also now is just because, I mean, he's a first ballot Hall Famer, um but he's not ready yet.
00:31:13
Speaker
Caps fans chanted one more year, and he said he's going to think about it. Now, obviously, we know he's done everything there is to do. He won a championship. He's one of the greatest players ever. He's a scoring leader. There's nothing else really for him to do. And in my eyes, the Capitals don't have a good enough team. And I have to ask Shane Peach about this. But the Capitals don't have a good enough team for him to win next season anyways.
00:31:37
Speaker
I say he rides out to the sunset. But He actually, and I don't know if you were watching this at the time, waved off the Penguins when they were trying to shake his hand at the end of the game. I heard about it. So what do you think about Alex Ovechkin, how he's been in the D.C. area? Should he come back? What do you think?
00:32:01
Speaker
I mean, I'm not a big hockey fan. um You know, don't follow it much. But, you know, definitely he's been a You know, a great ambassador for the, you know, D.C. area.
00:32:13
Speaker
People love him around here. Everywhere you go, the Capitals are playing, you know, the Ovi chants, you know. So, um yeah, I mean, he's been great for for hockey as well. I mean, you know, you know the the all-time scoring leader.
00:32:30
Speaker
um He won the ah you know the Stanley Cup once.
00:32:35
Speaker
I mean, what else does he have to prove? I don't know. He's still playing pretty it too playing at a pretty high level, though. Sure. you know yeah He is. So ah unless he wants to play a couple more years and pursue a thousand goals...
00:32:52
Speaker
You know? Well, and that's the thing is because he's all he's often talked about going home and playing in Russia in the KHL for a few years where he came in front of his family and friends.
00:33:03
Speaker
hu So, yeah. So i think he's better off retiring now. No, I mean, done everything if he plans to do him that, yeah, i mean, he's What is that? 40, 41, 42? remember, Jaramir Jogger played in the in that league until he was like 52. I got it. I don't think their competition is as much where, you know, maybe Ruben could go out there and flash a few goals.
00:33:35
Speaker
No, no me. No, you can't skate? Yeah. No, I will fall on butt have never Have you ever ice skated, Dad? I didn't ever ask you that question. um No, I have never ice skated.
00:33:48
Speaker
I have done some skiing. Yeah, we did skiing together. But no ah no ice skated. No. I think I will be on my butt more than anything else. so But you took me you took me roller skating, I'm sure. it's Yeah, roller skating. Yeah, then that's different.
00:34:06
Speaker
I mean, it's not that much different. It's just a... Okay. i have them I have never, you know, I skated, so I cannot say what the differences are. four Four wheels, one blade. But I think you're more stable on the skate, on the roller skates versus the one blade, yeah you know, kind of stuff. ah I don't know. And I don't have much to follow, so, you know.
00:34:33
Speaker
Yeah. All good. Let's go ahead and look at these brackets real quick. hit Look at these brackets real quick. Okay.
00:34:49
Speaker
So look, y'all. I mean, NHL, I know a lot of y'all probably don't watch the NHL, but it is a sport. And look, the Colorado Avalanche have been on top all year long, dominating the competition. They're fire.
00:35:03
Speaker
Yeah, they're on fire. You don't see my Kings in there because they have to win the next few games. Unfortunately, the Preds are in that spot, but that's okay. Let the Preds be in there. ah Yeah, i to be completely honest, I know my dad doesn't watch a lot of hockey. I'm to give you my pick right now, and I'll update you on this.
00:35:21
Speaker
but Colorado has been dominating all season long. I have Colorado versus the Buffalo Sabres in my NHL playoff finals with the Colorado Avalanche winning. Let's get to some comments here. Thank you all for tuning in. Hey, Kanteen says, what's up, fellas? What's good, my brother?
00:35:41
Speaker
Good to see you, Kanteen.
00:35:45
Speaker
How you doing, my friend? Yes, Kanteen the man. We got well else we got on here? Canteen says Hawks are going to cook the Knicks. Hey, look. At the beginning of the season, Bobby G, I see you tuned in. I'm about to give your shout-out. Bobby G and I talked about the Atlanta Hawks, and we said that we thought the Atlanta Hawks would be a better team if Trae Young could get his head in focus.
00:36:10
Speaker
They traded Trae Young and made the five seed. So maybe Trae Young was the problem, Bobby G. And they could beat the Knicks.
00:36:20
Speaker
I don't see it, though. The Knicks have a really good team. Clippers are toast. um Look, they built the NBA 2K team at the beginning of the season. Everybody, that was an all-star from 2015.
00:36:33
Speaker
ah They thought it was going to work. Too many injuries, as you would suspect from veterans. Kawhi Leonard is still the ultimate player but takes too many games off. Can they win in a playoffs? Sure.
00:36:44
Speaker
Him and James Harden, or they traded James Harden after that, but him without James Harden, I don't think so. ah So we'll see what happens. Also says Lakers in seven. That's not happening, bro.
00:36:56
Speaker
That's not happening. Austin, what? Is he crazy? What are you drinking, Ken? What are you drinking, Ken? You drinking some that, Hennessy? Because there ain't no damn way in hell. LaBum leads the Lakers to anything. Without Austin, Reeves and Luka?
00:37:16
Speaker
Come on. Come on, Ken. I know you're smarter than that, brother. I don't know. Official Bobby G. Allude to the tribal chief of podcasting. I will see you in a few days.
00:37:30
Speaker
I am going to Vegas to see Bobby G and Wildcard Mar. We're hanging out in Vegas this weekend. Catch us on the live stream for WrestleMania.
00:37:41
Speaker
All right. um Anyways, shout out, Bobby G. Thanks for tuning in. All right. So anyways, let's move it on to a couple of more topics. topics before we get out of here for the night. I got my mixed bag.
00:37:55
Speaker
Hold on one second.
00:37:59
Speaker
Nope. Nope. Nope. There we go. The sports mixed bag. All right. First of all, last night,
00:38:12
Speaker
the du The NBA regular season ended, and they had the inside the NBA show. And Shaq, did you see this couple that was on TV, and the guy was, like, talking to the girl, and the girl looked at him and was like, what the are you talking about? Did you see this, like, highlight of this? You didn't see it? I did not.
00:38:38
Speaker
Okay, so there was a viral couple at a Pacers game, and the guy was, like, talking to her about all this stuff, and the girl just looks at him, and she's like, what the fuck are you talking about? Like, that does not so they brought him on inside the and NBA. They brought him on all these other TV shows to find out what happened. And so this guy comes on. He makes this big-ass lie about and you could tell was a lie.
00:39:07
Speaker
about how they were talking about like a liberal arts program or some bullshit, which a girl would never give a reaction like that. So Shaq calls him out and Shaq is like, look, bro, know you're lying. You're a lot. That's not what y'all were talking about, but that's okay. You're keeping a PC for the camera. And Shaq offered to pay for the engagement ring. If the guy proposed to her on camera at that time. Yeah. So Guy didn't accept, which by the way, I'm sorry, but in my head, I'm thinking I'm accepting that ring. Even if I know I'm not marrying that girl, cause I can pawn that ring later for some money. Now that may be a bad thought, but if I'm that guy, that's what I'm thinking. But yeah, Shaq offered to pay the the engagement ring. What do you think about this situation?
00:39:58
Speaker
Yeah. I don't know. That's kind of weird, man. I did not hear about that. Wow, that's interesting. It was like one of these cameras that, like, you know, they, like, scan the crowd and focus on people that are in excuse we at the games.
00:40:16
Speaker
And they focused on this couple. And I'm going to try to see if I can get the the video up. But they focused on this couple that were arguing about something. And the guy...
00:40:28
Speaker
looked like he was talking about some nonsense, some bullshit. And the girl, like, hold on, here. I think I got it. Hold on. Let me see. Let
00:40:39
Speaker
me see if I can find a video on this. Here we go. Here it is. Okay. Hold on. Is this it? Here we go. No, No, don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it.
00:40:53
Speaker
the um do it No, you're not to give me the video? Ah, give me the video. Anyway, they're not giving me the video. That's messed up. But I will give you the face that she gave him. And I will show you what she looked like when she said this. So we had this screen real quick.
00:41:13
Speaker
Look at this. This was the reaction two the guy. Can you see it on your on on your screen? I can't see it.
00:41:27
Speaker
oh ah There we go.
00:41:33
Speaker
There Look at that. So the guy says he's talking about some sort of like liberal art art ah you know art stuff. And he's like talking to her the whole time and she's very quiet.
00:41:45
Speaker
And then all of a sudden, she just looks at him with this face like you are the dumbest motherfucker ever. And she, excuse my language. and she And you can see on the screen, look at her face.
00:41:57
Speaker
And this is when she's telling him, what the are you talking about right now? ah Wow. was like He's like, yeah, you know what? You're right. I'm an idiot. You're right. I'm stupid. So anyways, that was hilarious. Last night when I was watching Inside the NBA and Shaq offered to pay for the engagement ring if he ah if he and if he proposed to her right there.
00:42:27
Speaker
Anyways, all right, let's finish this off. Yannick Sinner. That's kind of weird. Tennis, Yannick Sinner beat Carlos Alcaraz 7-6, 6-3 in the Monte Carlo Masters. That means that Yannick Sinner has now moved 110 points above ah Carlos Alcaraz for the best in tennis now.
00:42:54
Speaker
We have to look back at the fact that last year Yannick Sinner was accused of cheating, accused of the, you know, impermissible thing that he took that he didn't know he took fine, whatever tennis actually cleared him and said that they believed him, which is very rare and that sort of thing. Um, but,
00:43:16
Speaker
Came back, beat Carlos Alcaraz. You have John Xenner. You have Carlos Alcaraz. um And you have the other guy. I can't remember his name at this point in time. But those are the three main tennis players right now that are kind of in the atmosphere.
00:43:33
Speaker
So look out for them. Denver. The Denver Pioneers in the Frozen Four hockey wins the National Hockey Championship.
00:43:43
Speaker
And finally, the WNBA draft was this evening. At 7 p.m., Ozzy Fudd from the UConn Huskies was chosen, number one, to go to the Dallas Wings. And shout out to my UCLA Bruins, Lauren Betts, Gabriel Jaquez, and Kiki Rice were chosen four, five, and six in the WNBA draft. Shout out to my women Bruins who won the WNBA championship. Salute to you all and salute to everybody.
00:44:19
Speaker
and the local and the local mystics picked up your Lauren Betts. Yes, the Mystics got Lauren Betts. Lauren, I'm going to come interview you there in D.C., maybe here at AU Pro Basketball if you come. Either way, my girl Lauren Betts, the best post player in the country, going to my hometown of D.C. And also in my hometown of D.C. is all my friends and family. 00:45:11
Speaker
So, you know, say hey to your, you know, your viewers. I did enjoy being on. And, you know, hey, maybe I'll make another appearance once i polish up my skills a little bit.
00:45:23
Speaker
You know, indeed, we're gonna meet we may have to do a street professor and pop show. Maybe like when Dan Levitard used to do a poppy. Maybe we'll do a little snow like that. That would be kind of cool. That would be fun.
00:45:36
Speaker
That would be fun. I love you. All right. Good night, everyone. Thank you so much. Bye. Bye.
00:45:47
Speaker
Salute to my pops who came in. Wow. I could not ask for a better guest than him. I mean, what are we talking about right now? Yeah, I just did my sports show with my dad.
00:46:02
Speaker
I mean, kill me tonight. I'm good. I drank some alcohol and I have my dad on. We good. We did. not What an amazing show, huh? think we might have to make that a thing.
00:46:16
Speaker
Think we might have to make that a thing. Bobby G's joining me on WrestleMania 2. Wild Card Mar. Because you know Bobby G, Wild Card Mar, and the sports professor will be in Vegas this weekend for WrestleMania.
00:46:38
Speaker
All some bugs by my side of the
