In this episode I sit down to chat with a first for this podcast, a family member of mine! My own brother Matt Swiech!
Matt is the middle brother of 3 boys from my family! He now resides out in Victoria, Vancouver Island, in beautiful British Columbia.
He has been a chef for 21+ years now, working all over Canada, mainly out west, starting in Lake Louise, and working his way out to Vancouver Island. He has a passion for snowboarding, camping, travelling the world.
His newest passion which we talk about in this episode is urban farming which he started taking up over the last couple of years. He created a business which is called Forage and Feast Urban Farming, you can also follow them over on Instagram @forageandfeasturbanfarm
He started this business, which helps people take unused spaces in their yards, and turn them into little plots of garden to help them produce produce and other plants. He started this to help with his anxiety and a way to give back to the community he lives in. He can also be found at a couple markets on Vancouver Island selling his products he farms.
We also dive into many great stories about living out west and some of the places he has worked. Most notably his adventure one evening while backcountry snowboarding in Revelstoke, B.C. He got lost and had search and rescue almost out looking for him while lost in the backcountry for over 13 hours. He successfully walked off the mountain and made it home safe and sound.
Another notable story is rolling a vehicle down a ravine and escaping death while driving to a job interview. He escaped basically untouched with just a couple stitches.
