Speaker: Welcome. to the second episode of Tap Tap Cast is back! Hi, Amanda. Hi, Martijn. I'm doing well. I'm excited to see your face. You know, this is like the major benefit for me of that.

Speaker: podcast starting back up as I get to talk to you at least once a week. Yeah, now that I don't stream as much on Twitch anymore, I guess you get to see my face often like this. so I'm glad that works for you.

Speaker: Um, Yeah, we're here to discuss what happened in Baltimore, obviously. but also events coming up. Maybe. Okay. I wrote five pages. I had some spare time. Yeah, so if you've missed the previous episode for some reason, we'll be unforgivable, but we're not doing interviews. Maybe at some point we could have a guest again, but for now it's just going to be us talking through recent Pokemon Go events and the ones coming up.

Speaker: Exactly true. But before we get into that. For those who don't know, which is probably a lot of people, but Martijn is someone who, when he travels, I've mocked him relentlessly for years because he gets to the airport like...

Speaker: Not quite as early as our co -caster Koning Lionheart, but way too early to the airport do you get to the airport in a ridiculous amount of time well i've always prided myself of just being able to like stroll in you know throw flow through security and then just get on the plane i was like why would you waste these extra hours in the airport

Speaker: Mm hmm. how many hours ahead of time do you get in the airport, actually? It depends. If I have luggage that I need to check, I'll try to get there hour and a half ahead of time, maybe. And if I just am going through security, then probably an hour.

Speaker: before.

Speaker: An hour before. Yeah, I've heard that before. So I do two hours usually. Yes, you say you said calling Lionheart. He does like three or four hours. Insanely early. That's like my parents' level of getting early to the airport. I don't know. I feel like everyone's parents used to go this early to the airport. But yes, please do continue. How did that go for you, going so tight to the airport? huh I will say it was not a time -related thing. We got to the airport. We had plenty of time. we even went to the lounge for a little bit because we had enough time and then what says okay you know our flight is starting to board we knew the gate number it was a41 or something like that and it was a five minute walk from where we were perfect we're making our way to it

Speaker: In the Hamburg airport where I was, there's this small cutout section where... It's for international flights. Didn't realize it, really? it was like it's b gates in the a gate for some reason so if you're not really looking at the letter and you just see the numbers We're...

Speaker: My husband was like, oh. you know here so we're standing in line we're going through the international security where they have to check your passports and everything and i was like this is so weird like why would would they check our passports We get through this area.

Speaker: And now we see that we are in the wrong. area there's like a glass partition and we can see our gate uh which is boarding you know they're they're calling it you know this is the and we're like oh we need to go over there uh we accidentally went through this area and the guy was like the only way to get...

Speaker: out is you have to leave the airport and check back in. And we're like, can't you just open up this glass door? And it was like, no, you went through passport control. So you need to once again.

Speaker: go through passport control to get back into europe because technically you're not in europe anymore you're in this international area so We had to go back to security. Then our tickets wouldn't work because they'd already been checked in. We had to go back through, ah like, recheck our bags and everything. And needless to say.

Speaker: We missed the flight. It was the first flight that I probably missed in like. I can't even remember the last time I missed a flight. So just to be clear, you went to, uh, to boards.

Speaker: or you went to the check -in or what's what's called like like the the the gate you went yeah we we were going to the gate yes like five minutes before boarding Yes. Well, the fight you know, they they said, like, start going to the gate now. It's because they're going to board your gate. So, yes, of course, we're going to start going to the gate at that period of time.

Speaker: okay otherwise otherwise Otherwise, why why else would you just go there? They're just going to sit in uncomfortable chairs. Versus being in the cushy, luxurious lounge?

Speaker: yeah and make sure i don't miss my flight yeah okay well maybe maybe going forward i'll just pay more attention to the gates because that was really oh man And it was like one of those things where in the moment I was like super pissed. But the minute that you miss the flight and you know that there's nothing else to do, you're just kind of like, well.

Speaker: all right there's no there's no reason to be mad anymore right i mean there's nothing we can do so we just had to book ourselves on a different flight and got home a little bit later you didn't get that one reimbursed right because i think it comes as like no show exactly yeah no we even tried to say but it's like we weren't a no -show like we were literally here but yeah it was uh it was an expensive lesson i suppose but

Speaker: And you were actually the first person that I thought of. when it happened i was like okay i'll have to tell martine about it on the podcast so he can rub my nose in the fact that it didn't work out well for me this one time i mean

Speaker: um i'm gonna be honest with you amanda i've been moving i've been leaning more into not coming as early anymore because i am waiting that long for nothing and i just end up looking for something to eat but the airport food is always either expensive and or not great um so yeah that that's uh i'm actually leaning towards the way you do it but but probably more of a in between i think that's um healthier for for my brain like i don't want to miss out on my flight Yeah, and now you can have this extra kernel of knowledge. Don't ever go through passport control if you don't think you need it because you most likely do not.

Speaker: excellent point but kind of going back to what we you just said about uh we want to talk a little bit about Baltimore. I saw. the winner of Baltimore. while i was in hamburg because that is where he where he's from so i told these wireless on Tuesday, I think it was that I have a good feeling about you winning.

Speaker: Baltimore so now I think it's if anyone wants to win a regional event they need to hang out with me the weekend. before. do you Do you ever... Look in the mirror at your life.

Speaker: i that I really get tired tired of myself. No, it hasn't happened yet. No, not at all. ah Were you there for all my regional wins? Now I wonder. I know you were there. No, I wasn't there for your first one last year. But I did watch you. Oh, yeah, Frankfurt. You weren't there, yeah. I wasn't there for Frankfurt.

Speaker: Stuttgart neither. No, maybe your good luck is me not being there. Oh, I won my first one with you there. Yeah, true. That is true. That is true. Yeah. But we were negging you that whole time. I remember we had that, got that that's where we started that caster fantasy draft.

Speaker: oh we pick like yeah everyone all of the dutch battlers except for you Yeah, and then Farid tried to claim the win by saying, yeah, I actually really want to pick more time. Okay. Sure, sure, sure. Now you do. That was all the idea of Toad Tactical. It was disgusting as well. yeah Unbelievable.

Speaker: So what's new in your world, my friend? It's new in my role. I've just been working. I've been watching a regional championship over the weekend. I've been making videos every day. Yeah, I've seen that. that's ah that's A lot of work.

Speaker: I applaud you for the effort there. Yeah, well, just we'll see how long I can keep it up. Honestly, I always have my ups and downs with the game. Honestly, I think that's perfectly fine. Don't get me wrong. I'm not bothered with that at all. But as long as I can keep it up.

Speaker: i'll try but but yeah time is time is the time is definitely a thing maybe i should resort again to just uploading gbl battles which is play game records and then at home talk over it and it's like 30 minutes work it's the lowest effort it's even less effort than making this five minute video with all this information and uh assets that i make yeah yeah it's true because you're already playing your your battles and honestly i mean for a pvp player that seems to be the stuff that people like to see

Speaker: the most but it's also the most templated right so i think it's a little bit hard to have originality with making Go Battle League videos. that's Not to say that people don't do little different things like I know that Caleb like always has a little if this they lead this then you should do x but uh Your teams are. interesting i think probably that has something to do with it i when i was making gbl videos i was trying to take

Speaker: ah suggested teams from really good players to see if it was the the driver or the car um But yeah, I think I think it's difficult to find like your own. niche within Go Battle League.

Speaker: videos. Well, it's just that not per se that I want to stand out in it. It's just something I felt like that's useful for. for every day. player And ironically, the video that has the most views currently is one about how to beat Dynamax, Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno. It's not even a PvP video. Well, can you give me a little update? Because I don't have enough people around me to to do them. do It's so easy. it's so Did you do any Dynamax Rhyhorn?

Speaker: Uh, yes i guess well just evolve three of those okay and give them stone edge smackdown you have a team of three you can solo Okay, I wouldn't try that. Not with level With level 50, if you have like one or two, maybe. okay Honestly, maybe. I just did Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, all three of them, since I got home. Because I do i am lucky enough to have a power spot at my house. Nice. um and they they go down fast they go down really fast i have a level 40 red period

Speaker: ah I tank stuff on Eternatus and Exadrill, whatever. And then um my mom has an Eternatus level 40. And that was an easy duo. That was an easy duo, all three of them.

Speaker: All right, I got to find someone to play with then. yeah mean Do you do much um remote raiding anymore? If I send you a remote raid request, you're just going to ignore it, aren't you? You're just going to ignore it. Not this one. No, no. They're expensive, man. They're like 800 max particles plus yeah remote raid paths for an Articuno. Nah, that ain't it. Maybe they have a cool background, but they don't have that this time. Yeah, that's true. Not not on this go -around.

Speaker: Yeah. Speaking of, go Battle League. Have you gotten your ELO yet? No. I haven't either. I'm at like rank 17, I think. Oh, okay, okay. well i'm I'm getting there. I'm getting there. I mean, I don't have the time really to play as much. I also have an exam this Thursday. So like okay one once I get home from work and making a video or recording a podcast with with this with this girl, then I...

Speaker: yeah i have to study and that's my day tell me more about this girl do you think she likes looking in the mirror at herself and yeah think she ever gets tired of it mirrors in her background right now like that says enough ah ah Yeah. Yeah. No. What where did you get to?

Speaker: Oh, I, my starting Elo was like 23, 13 or something, but I haven't. You got Elo? Yeah. Oh baby, I've got Elo, but I haven't moved on from it yet. All right. All right. I'm going to, by the next week, hopefully I'll, ah I'll have a hit veteran and I can report back. it if that's happened or not oh man now i feel like i need to get the elo too i'm i'm being pressured yeah yeah you still feel so far behind

Speaker: um'm I'm supposed to be like, oh, he plays PvP, he plays a lot. Then I'm actually like, I'm not slacking. Sure. But it's just... i spend my time different i guess you're not slacking your vigor off It's going to be this kind of podcast.

Speaker: Oh, I lost him again Unbelievable. Unbelievable. So you haven't been doing much Go Battle League. Have you been doing many rocket balloons?

Speaker: No, Amanda And you know that because we only have one a day now. So here's the here's the thing that's the most inconvenient about this for me, Amanda, right? um if they have so first off if they had good reason for it maybe i'd be okay with it but we're not even being given a reason unfortunately but i wake up

Speaker: At about... 4 30 4 50 around that like in the morning that is insane yes because i have to work i work early to to avoid traffic jam late in the afternoon somehow the people who are driving uh or actually the people who are driving at 2 p .m they're not there at 5 a .m surprise surprise But um that's when I open my game. And when I open my game just briefly, Amanda, at like 5 a .m., just out of habits, not even to do much. I don't want to do a rocket balloon. No, yeah no, i I want to.

Speaker: I want to eat breakfast and drive. and And now I have to spend. If I want to do my Rocket Balloon, I have to spend time in them. I don't want to do that. So now I am not opening the game until like 10 or 12 because... That's when I get my rocket balloon.

Speaker: I haven't experimented enough with because I'm on the same mentality. I'm like, oh, it's only happening once a day, so I'm going to make sure to do it. um But I don't know. Is it one of those things where if you don't do it in that first 30 minutes, like in the past, it will go away and come back the next time you open the game? No.

Speaker: It does not come back. It doesn't come back. It does not come back. now Once you open the game, you need to do your rocket balloon or else you've missed your rocket balloon for the day. It is silly. It is very very silly.

Speaker: yeah you know i was I wouldn't have been as bothered if... Because, you know, I just grind out rocket events when they whenever they show up. Yeah. hopefully. um but But the fact that's... i need to do it immediately when i open the game just annoys me because maybe i just want to turn my go plus on real quick uh like on my drive that means that i miss out on my rocker bloom because i don't want to do it in the morning i just i just don't want to spend another three minutes on that hell no The the thing is with the two is like.

Speaker: I have to be completely honest. when it was going multiple times a day, especially if my eggs were full. and it was the the leader sometimes i would skip out on doing the rocket balloon And be like, OK, when my eggs hatched, I will do my next rocket balloon because I don't want to waste this.

Speaker: ah But I will say. I feel like it's kind of... Taking away for no reason. Yeah. So that's the part that like kind of bothers me. It's not that it personally like makes my life such an inconvenience, but I do think an inconvenience is a lot of people who are very used to.

Speaker: a certain type of gameplay and anytime you take away things from people that are like part of like the free part of the game just kind of feels like There should be a good reason behind it. And maybe there is, but it one just hasn't really been explained to me.

Speaker: It was a good quality of life update at the time we had COVID, right? Oh, for sure, yeah. Like rocket balloons. And now... the i guess the the incentive behind it is that to make people go out more for rockets again but I'm just kind of hoping that this is going to be an experiment from them and that they're like, okay, that didn't work. yeah So far, since Scopely actually took over...

Speaker: i feel like some decisions have been like uh made up for like that like the hundo music that uh people went to new york got at first then was given out globally i don't know i feel like the reason we that was released globally was because of the black backlash so oh yeah what i'm kind of hoping i mean they're definitely listening Yeah, so I'm kind of hoping that...

Speaker: somehow scuffly wool. Listen again yeah and revert that. maybe Maybe they listen to our podcast, Amanda. You'll never know. We'll just go ahead and forward it on. Dear Scopely, please, from Martijn and Amanda.

Speaker: Excellent choice, yeah. Well. let's kind of what This is technically a PVP podcast. as much as I do like talking.

Speaker: With you just in general. But you said you wrote about five pages about Baltimore. Before we even get started, though. We were having a conversation as like casters, friends, and you made a big stink about how there's going to be no ground type Pokemon.

Speaker: Uh... in this current meta. and Okay, no, no, no, no, no, no. no No mudslap user. No mudslap user. That's what I was saying. I knew there was going to be a lot of grounds, but no Marowak, no mudslapper. Okay.

Speaker: that's Was I wrong? No, you weren't wrong on that, but you are changing the scope of the discussion. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. no i said I even made a freaking video, man. This is proof you're not watching. yet Yeah, I mean, I've got to hit that subscribe notification bell, so I... And watch every day. Yep.

Speaker: Do you have a certain time that you're putting them out? 8 p .m. eight GMT plus... plus two right now the summer time i guess but uh let's call it amsterdam slash dutch time actually rotterdam time not amsterdam We don't do that here.

Speaker: All right. Well, I'll tune in from now on, now that I know that they're coming. ah Or you could just get the YouTube role in my Discord. I could get that role in your discipline. You know what? I'm just goingnna give it i was going to give it to you. That's okay.

Speaker: it's gonna be all of the different roles the gg role the oh no There's a lot of them. Yeah, yeah for sure. but Besides that, Baltimore, what did you think about the very first um tournament in this current meta?

Speaker: There's so much there's so much So little time, so much to talk about. First off... Um, Europe is watching EnVyUs 191 competitors. i know we We could never do that. i know I don't think even our UK regional will be able to do that this season.

Speaker: Which one was it again? Birmingham. That's usually the the one that has the most competitors in Europe. there's no chance. But we'll get the UIC. those numbers but yeah 191 that's only uh registered competitors by the way so it's not like there were uh there were quite a few notions but still yeah That is a crazy number. I'm so impressed. And I know that people like the the meme is going around right now about how NA is so free.

Speaker: And. It is kind of a funny joke because we've had multiple EU people now win. NA Regionals, but I will say this as well. People are going to. North America to play and to have fun and not just like not completely just to win. We don't do that here. good top and we don't We don't in Europe, and that's such a shame because it's...

Speaker: easier to travel in europe than it is in north america as someone who's lived in america for a long time it's less expensive to travel through europe But every... I mean, like...

Speaker: I don't I don't know. I think the competitor mindset is different in Europe and people really, especially since there's not Swiss and like it's a double elimination tournament there. like very fearful and upset of not winning or not doing well in the tournament, which I think hinders a lot of our registration numbers.

Speaker: Yeah. I also... um Some people might not like me saying this, but I also feel like that. there's a like not playing the game is cool right now amongst pvp players you're cool if if you no i don't grind the game no i just played some pvp sometimes no that's that's fine and and no i don't want to go to this event i just play one or two and there'll be enough to qualify that's cool right now i i think if you actually do like the game and that's what you tell everyone you suck

Speaker: Sorry. you like If you like the game, just just be normal, man. like there There's so many people that keep saying, yeah, this game sucks. I don't want to play it. But swear, if some someone from VGC or TCG says Go sucks, they'll be the first one to defend Go. I...

Speaker: Like, who are you kidding? Hey, it's like family, right? You can make fun of your own family. You can make fun of your close friends. But the minute someone else says, you're like, hey, hey. Yeah. We have too many. players that that do that and yes i guess uh the europeans they don't want to have fun as much maybe the the north americans just have a bit of a more

Speaker: uh tight community as well right you go to see your friends too and especially with culture and language differences within europe that' allow but for example uh spanish and french trainers they they don't speak english as well so they don't hang out as much with with british and the british they're like well they only speak spanish why would i hang out with the spanish sure but for example right i'm not i'm not trying to set anyone up here so just you heard it here first you heard it on tap tap the brits hate the spanish trainers got it

Speaker: Yeah, just maybe maybe it has something to do with it. I don't know. no i It's unfortunate. I agree that there's probably a little bit of cultural difference, but I will also say, especially in the world's competitions or at the international championships, you see like...

Speaker: Europeans band together from that because it's like if someone in Europe is doing well. They're cheering for Europe. then it yeah it's it's

Speaker: But you don't cheer for Europe within Europe. That's also true. You only cheer for yourself. You're only cheering for your teammate or whatever. so yeah Yeah. If we look at current Frankfurt registrations, there are 90... players registered so that's not even a half of baltimore currently it's so depressing Registration closed on Wednesday. Brisbane will also be ah next weekend.

Speaker: that one has 37 players registered amongst rise to occasion yeah yeah

Speaker: He was like, NA is too difficult, man. I'm going to go to Australia. All these Europeans come to take i a NA. Nah, I'll go elsewhere. ah For our first episode of Tap Tap Cast, we did this fantasy draft and you picked Marto Galdé and I picked Ryze as mine. And then I was talking to him and I was like, hey, are you going to be in Baltimore? He's like, no, I'm in Australia. And I was like, what? I was like, I should have should have scheduled that better in my head for people who would be playing in Baltimore. But maybe I have some chance of redemption if he can do really well in Brisbane.

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, 37 versus 191 competitors. I would say there's a ah better chance for Rice to to do well there. I mean, there's still some good Australian competitors. And and who knows, some of the Japanese that might show up again. so Yeah, I mean, they've been really doing quite well.

Speaker: And I think ah since the Japanese trainers have had a little bit more of a spotlight on them, especially since Worlds, it wouldn't surprise me to see maybe a couple other ones trying to get their qualifications through a different system as well. because they aren't on championship points.

Speaker: I would be very afraid if if I played in Australia right now. yeah yeah The Japanese are coming, man. Definitely. And they they have to win first place since they don't do championship points. Because there was a trainer, his name is escaping me right now, but he's a Japanese trainer. Pokemonimaker? Pokemonimaker. And he's gotten like second and third in the quite a few different ones. And that's one of those things where it's like, okay, obviously very, very good trainer, but... maybe has to be a little bit disheartening for him.

Speaker: Two. get so close in that and not be able to get the qualification just because he's like, oh, I was a finalist or I was in the top cut but wasn't able to get that championship title.

Speaker: at the very least they still get like prize money which is nice too i think it's still like a five hour flight from japan by the way to brisbane so not like it's close by anyway uh you get a nice medal which you otherwise cannot win in japan so i guess they have that going for them What I also like...

Speaker: Hurricane Cass! She had a really good debut. uh obviously it's the first time right so you're gonna notice a couple things like she's interviewing not looking back at the camera but that's the way she picks up things

Speaker: um And obviously the synergy with Caleb, I think because they do the podcast together as well, yeah ah really worked out. very good i felt like when she couldn't find the right words she just uh very quickly and this is something i as non -native english speaker i'm quite jealous of just find some words around it. I really liked that. I felt like this was...

Speaker: You know, this reminded me a little bit of Gabby. when she also got into it, ah right obviously with with with more knowledge of the game, but but just some sort of confidence that that comes into it.

Speaker: Yeah, I was really impressed. When I saw her name on the release ahead of time, I was just like immediately texted her and I was like, it's happening it's happening and so uh i was very excited to see her do so well from the get -go because the first times i mean as i'm sure you probably remember too you don't know what to expect right and then all of a sudden there's like giant cameras that are on you there's lights that are on you you're being forced now to talk for extended period of time uh but you you

Speaker: It's kind of like improv, right? You don't know exactly what's coming your way. I really think that she handled it like a champion. ah the The pairings were were great, I thought. And also the new set for NA. pretty good. The graphics look really slick.

Speaker: Unlike the graphics, I did not like the backgrounds for the casters. The longer you looked at it, the more still. I felt like it got. It just was like, ah it looked like a background background that was supposed to move, but wasn't moving. yeah I don't know. I really like the graphics. That that i that I like. But the backgrounds, i at some point I was like, hmm.

Speaker: No, i I think I liked the ones from the ICs or that we have. Martin, what did you think about them standing?

Speaker: Yeah, you know my opinion on that. I think especially when you have someone who's like, when you're looking like Lou and Henry at Rolls, you're looking like this at each other, like all the way up. Yeah, I have an opinion on that. But who am I? To to say, well we'll we'll just... You know what? Can you just do all the events with me? Yeah, exactly. I don't want to have an issue. Neck and neck here. ah

Speaker: that that is that'll be our That'll be our reasoning. We have to be paired because of height. Yes, that's my two cents, li Amanda. now There's no excuse for you to dodge me anymore.

Speaker: So. Calm down, calm down. The meta. Yeah. So no mudslap users. But yes, ground top users. uh there was a lot of klotzai and amanda I love Clotsire. I know, Clotsire business. It's just so goofy. It looks so derpy.

Speaker: And it's not oppressive, right? Like, Cloth Sires, in some way, I find comparable to Azura, where even sometimes your worst matchups are just fine against it. You think of something like a Melmetal, and yeah, okay, you get one shot by Earthquake, but I can throw five double Iron Badge before you get to three moves. You know, I think that's cool. i mean and if you bait with clods i'm no metal calls it it's just uh actually a bad matchup so um that's something i really like about it kind of reminds me of like a for alligator cloth sorry meta we had two seasons ago very very very neutral the one

Speaker: Party pooper, in my opinion, is Florges. I do not like Florges. a monotype fairy uh a mono fairy type pokemon at the moment of fairytale she's very broken amanda yeah yeah i'm not of and then the debuff

Speaker: attack it's like do you remember one two three four five poison fang it's now one two three four five chilling water yeah what do you think of the secondary charge attacks on floor just because when it first came out everyone was running trailblaze so you had the option of trailblaze which would boost your own attack or chilling water which would lower your opponent's attack ah but more people now are opting for moonblast no one's running trailblaze anymore trailblaze is just not the play because there's just not that many water and ground type pokemon anymore now if your team is weak to that then maybe you run trailblaze but i feel like moonblast at 50 energy just being so efficient, hard hitting. It's just really nice. You know, Jock was telling me I like disarming voice a little bit more. for a two -shot potential because floor just

Speaker: uh does pace quickly in his army voice hits hearts but you don't have the ball commander you don't have the bulk to do a lot with florida so i just like boom have you ever hit like a have you played florida yet i have played floor just but not with Moonblast. I was playing it actually with disarming voice earlier on. So You should try landing a Moonblast on a Fearow. You just very went down after that. It's actually... It's a game changer. It's actually crazy. Like, so...

Speaker: Yeah, I do like the change for Florges. I don't like Florges itself. Florges was quite popular last season, actually, in the hands of the right people. I think that, you know, I remember when Boom and PVP David were playing Florges against each other in the grand finals. Emmy Weedle at Worlds. I mean, Florges definitely still has its place. and But you seem to like other fairy type Pokemon more. Do you see any use for Wigglytuff in this meta?

Speaker: Ah, the charm nerf. We kind of need charm back. Shadow Sableye was too good in this tournament. How dare you? Well, I mean, honestly, looking at the top meta, Sableye, Corsula, Thievul.

Speaker: Altaria? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. Wiggly could ah could maybe be making a comeback. absolutely not with what charm is currently it's not happening metal as the number one user you have a better chance with mega audino currently Yeah. So, no, I'm not feeling the wheelie tough. But... so Yeah, I guess the last thing I have to say about that day one usage is so no crammer in the top 12 was mind -blowing to me. yeah That thing is so freaking good.

Speaker: And you're telling me it's not even it's not even exceeding Shadow Quagsire of all Pokemon? Listen, you're talking about derpy Pokemon. You can't say Clodsire is great and then be like, Shadow Quagsire, am I right, guys? It's a fraud! It's a fraud! Prove me wrong. It didn't win the tournament. True, true, true. No, it didn't.

Speaker: Oh. So, no, I was not convinced. Okay. That's maybe... too harsh on shadow quack so it's very sick book one but but i'm just like why wouldn't it be top 12. i was very surprised uh well it was day two at least it was ah in i think it was number 10.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, i I have the day two graphic here as well. Or no, let me count. Yeah, it was 10. No, no, it was number 10. I can count. right You're right. Um... But yeah, on day one, speaking of that crime rant, one matchup that really stood out to me here, Amanda.

Speaker: We have a lot of top trainers, right, in this tournament. Oh, for sure. yeah But one of them stood out here that matched. was Doombug versus Phoenix the Boss. did Did you see the entirety of day one, day two? I didn't see the entirety, I have to admit, but I did tune in off and on when I was back home or when I was like you know in the car watching the games and everything. And I saw that one also being highlighted online because they do a really nice job during the events, if you're following the PlayPokemon account, of highlighting some of the good battles.

Speaker: Yeah. um Doombug is someone I respect. ah What I see in Doombug is an absolute winner, right? Doombug, because what stands out to me... you know, winner is someone who knows how double elimination can be. Doombug knows like no one that even the best can fall so early, right? And unfortunately, it happens to him here again. And there's...

Speaker: um Something that hits Doomba quite hard here. It's a sheddable nerf. Um, Shadow Ball is was overpowered, right? I'm glad that it was nerfed. But Jellicent was actually the one Pokemon that really profits from it. Because it can like Hex plus Shadow Ball knockouts Pokemon.

Speaker: Couldn't do that Twice. in game one versus phoenix the boss where first the galarian core slangs on a one hp And then a Cramorant to finish it off. um Very unfortunate for Doom, but I was very convinced by this Jellicent.

Speaker: uh that would be a great pick to wall like mel metal but uh yeah now now i'm feeling like whoa maybe maybe it's not the way kind of yeah doesn't do that well in in matchups that are not oppressive do you think that there are any advantages to running like a high attack jellicent with that flip any of those matchups because a lot of people opt to run ones that are a bit more bulky.

Speaker: Yeah, maybe maybe with a little bit more attack. maybe You could do some more Hex and Shadow Ball damage. like Like four extra damage could potentially have knocked out the Galarian Corsola or that Cramorant. I don't know. How much attack you'd need on Jellicent for it to revive at that point. I mean, it's not a bad pick necessarily. It just didn't do what it needed to do for Doombug. It was a bit underwhelming in those matches. Yeah, fun fact. Doombug wanted to bring Grimmsnarl at first. he I was surprised when he when he had Thievul. I guess he went with a...

Speaker: A little bit safer pick. yeah it's it's uh It's a funny Pokemon. Man, I tell you what, I... Fine, Cramorant. Good, but super annoying to play again and and watching against. I have a really good ranked one, actually. I got from a surprise encounter, so maybe I should try it in GBL. but i hate playing against it because it's like they're either going to do the the surf or the dive where then once you throw a charge attack they

Speaker: do some damage to you and it lowers your defenses or you think they're going to do it and they hit you with a fly and it does a ton more damage it really takes a lot of different mindsets to play around a team that has a Kramer ramp on it.

Speaker: That's something Phoenix the Boss did as well against Doombug. He basically just checkmated Doombug in that game too. Because maybe since you hate Cramorant so much, someone must have done this to you as well. What happened was that the Melmetal from Doombug was at low health.

Speaker: And um Phoenix the Boss. He kept a Cloth Sire like 1 HP. swaps in grammar and throws a dive. What are you going to do? If you throw a move with no metal, you lose. You keep just locked down Doombug there. Yeah. ah You just played that really well. I really like that specific Cramorant attack. I have not had my issues with it just yet, but that's maybe because I play a lot of Stunfisk. Because like, I don't want to.

Speaker: with gulp missiles, I guess. i um Again, I like i like the moveset changing Pokemon. It's just annoying, obviously, when ah when someone is playing it and they're playing it well. And then you you're you can yeah you're in a checkmate position either way. Sometimes like it's with the...

Speaker: um more pickle, you know, when you're out of shields, you're just like. Well, this is over. What are you doing? Yeah. Or Aegislash or, you know, like any of any of these things. We're like, okay, well, it doesn't matter what I do. As long as they don't screw up, I have no win condition anymore.

Speaker: And someone who brought Easy Slash was was ah out of pocket. and That was someone who I actually wanted to pick for my draft, but now I'm actually reconsidering that. No, I'm kidding. He had a...

Speaker: Easy game three versus Mango. Did you you see that match? No. He let EG Slash into Araquanid. Do you know what Arakwene does there, Amanda? It's... Ugh.

Speaker: how do I say this it poos in its bed that's it nicely yeah To say it with different words, right? We're family friendly here. um Mango swaps in Dunsparce with Bite now, which I think is absolute copium. Mango rolled with it. He got top eight with it. Uh, Pocket. Thievul Resist Bite answers it's on the dance bars you think easy clap but then amanda how many times has this happened to you Mango swapped back in Iraq when it's...

Speaker: And Pockets swapped in the wrong Pokemon. Oh, no. And it was so painful to see. You could just tell by his face. You look at his screen and he immediately tried to tap EG Slash, but he already had brought in Dondo's into a rock with it. And in the back was a Shadow Sableye, which was a highlight of this show as well. Yeah. Waiting for that EG Slash. so so Um,

Speaker: you really feel that one i think i think everyone has at that moment before but to have it in a competitive tournament i i sent him a message uh tough one bro and obviously you don't get a reply to that because i think he hates himself more than than anything else yeah i can imagine like yeah you're you're already a little bit upset with yourself and uh well words from people are like you know kind and helpful it's also when you win right i'm sure people get like a ton of messages congratulating you and you want to get back to everyone but You know, like... ah yeah It's a lot of messages.

Speaker: Yeah, tough one for Pockets. I mean, he had a good run regardless, also top eight. yeahp um I want to talk a little bit about, I have some stats, Amanda. Okay, hit me with them. on a champion.

Speaker: Zee's Wylos. uh esteem All right, well, Shadow Seablood. Politoats? Inspired by the 2027 World Champion and Contorno, who was top three at Worlds actually with Shadow Polythene. Yes, Claude Sayre, Chargeabuck.

Speaker: Weird pic. flaous and cor nice He's called it a weird pick, but I mean, I tell you what, it really like played very, very well for him in this meta. And it was so weird because no one was running Shadow Canto 9 tools in update 2 anymore, it seems. um I looked at the date. Two.

Speaker: Games from Zee's Wireless. He played 20 matches on day 2. In how many games do you think he brought Shadow Sableye? 20. 19. In 19 games. That's crazy though. Okay. Okay, but it it gets even better. How many shields do you think he used on Shadow Sableye?

Speaker: In 19 games, sorry. So 19 games would... Peace. 38 34. 21 sheets. Well, 34 would have been a lot. I overshot. It's been almost all of them on Sableye.

Speaker: Like, it's more on the same line than the combined of the other ones. Yeah, when when ah he was playing, I watched him double shield, I think against an Azumarill once too, and I was just like... all right well He's just... I will say this is something that ZZ does better than almost anyone is he has really, really good time management of like noticing when the switch timer is going to.

Speaker: the be up like he saves his energy he swaps out he makes strange picks sometimes that i'm like oh i wouldn't ah i i don't see people normally doing it that way but yet it seems to really work for him he also gets caught on quite a bit i don't know if you notice this either he like he'll throw an attack And.

Speaker: ah Oftentimes, it gets caught on a Pokemon that... Maybe he didn't want the attack to go to. Doesn't phase him at all. He's like, yep, fine. could Keep rolling with it. I'll just gain more energy here and now I'll swap out here. and ah Yeah, it's really he's a fun player to watch. That happened against Arrow, actually.

Speaker: uh where he called it an earthquake on uh is from Claude Sandler's Guzzlord and then ZZ had Florges, which was... so Yeah, not a matchup you want to be in necessarily. I think ZZ just really had plot armor here. Even when I was like, why are you throwing Chilling Water here? they're They're like going to shield this likely. They have two shields. You can get a debuff.

Speaker: And then he gets a moon blast debuff. Kind of crazy. He used Politoed only twice. Clodsire, 13. times out of 20 games okay charge a buck eight times Flaunches 14 times.

Speaker: and coordinate four times so definitely shadow save like cloth sire And floor just where's most you spoke on and honestly cloth side floors were pretty much like what was that like top? Uh, yeah Two out of the top three.

Speaker: so i guess we're kind of settling the meta already with that like cold star and floor just might just be the course to go with well Looking at that then, is there anything that you anticipate people are going to try to do in Frankfurt?

Speaker: Yeah, maybe some guillotine. sister Um, Hard to say right now. I'm definitely expecting more Shadow Sableye. Like, like like z anything if anything ZZ showed is that even in his worst matchups, it's not even that bad. Like, he'd swap into Flawless. If you don't move Blast, he's going to flip that.

Speaker: um if you go chilling water and no shields you go down the shield as floor just so That's why... I'm not joking when I say maybe Wilytuff is necessary. This Pokemon is looking insane.

Speaker: uh right now it's very hard to check uh currently. But, um... Yeah, I mean, that answer was someone like ZZ. He actually, I found that the start of day one, he actually made a lot of mistakes. And by that, I'm not saying he he was playing bad. but more as in it wasn't as flawless right it reminded me of my uh toronto 2025 run where where i felt like I just sucked all day, all weekend.

Speaker: ah Besides against Colin. ah But I still got two top three. Somehow. right Or top four, actually. Sorry, top four. I felt like that was a little bit with ZZ. It was playing like 70 % capacity. And it was enough to to to beat some players. um right If you don't mind me rambling on on but on some of these matchups. No, no, I think it's this is like the fun part, right? to Getting to hear an expert kind of break down things that happened in a previous ah regional championship. um um I'm glad you think that way. um

Speaker: versus King Alexander was his first matchup. We actually scrimmed quite a bit. He beat me the first two games, ZZ. And then I... I think I beat him like... uh seven out of eight games after so he was not confident going into that one and the reason why was because i started to use turtonator so When... um King Alexander left that Turtonator.

Speaker: into these wireless. Yeah, I was like, oh man, we practiced it. Surely he knows what to do. But there were some things that ZZ wasn't able to do. uh for example he tried he kept he caught one attack from King Alexander. But I need to try to sketch another one.

Speaker: But do you remember that's... that's ah CMP sac swap I did in Utrecht. Yes. That was where I first took a Volt Switch damage on Vigoroth and then swapped into Giratina. This is something ZZ tried here as well, but the mechanics are different now, Amanda, because it takes a little bit longer for the damage to register. So you need the damage to register on one Pokemon. and then he tried to swap into cold star the two points didn't get to uh his attack in an incinerate But he wasn't able to do that.

Speaker: So that was one thing that costed him that game. Um, In game two, he miscounted... Melmetal Thundershocks lost a move on Politoed. Luckily it didn't matter. And then game three, he he again lost track of energy, I think. I mean, he said in Sharks that he had no idea where an l all the energy was the whole time. So I guess that kind of confirms my my ah my thoughts there. um near the very end.

Speaker: He expects. King Alexander to to swap. or Or sorry, no. I'm saying this wrong. In the very end, he thought that the opposing Turtonator... from King Alexander at a charge stack. So...

Speaker: These are all swaps. Thing is, Amanda... He didn't have a move. Oh, he just gave him energy. He was one instant rate off. Luckily for Zee's Wireless... King Alexander swapped.

Speaker: He swapped. If he did one Incinerate and knocked... out the Sableye, if he just didn't swap King Alexander, he would have won that game. yeah But because he why was like, okay, I think he has a move. I have to swap here. He did that. And he actually really got away with it. It's like... ah You can play flawlessly. You can play, you know, not poorly, but you can make some mistakes. But if your opponent does too, right? I mean, it's, it's a.

Speaker: It's a little bit of a mind game. It's not like just tapping it out. Like, um you know, PB poke they have, you can kind of tap on the thing and you can. yeah battle simulate but it it doesn't take into account real life human thinking of oh like i think my opponent's going to swap so i need to swap here or i think they're at this energy and ah a lot of different things come into play when you're actually at a tournament yeah and i mean king alexander's a good player too right like he won i believe the

Speaker: Peoria Regional Championship he won a couple seasons ago. um i did feel like his plan just kind of fell apart entirely near variants like he lost control of of of all of it But, I mean, you have a tower opponent in ZZ. and then he faced Arrow, which was a painful set, Amanda.

Speaker: Um, This is something I told ZZ when he showed his team. cantonitis is a problem now almost no one had cantonitis received on day two yeah except arrow And he loved it. He played every game.

Speaker: and you just uh Yeah, he makes a great catch in game three and just basically sets that game, sends ZZ to the losers. battle. Fun fact, ClothSire and Sableye were brought. every game I guess arrow.

Speaker: and King Alexander. Um, the The second game against five stars actually the first time He benches Klotzire. And he brought Corviknight for the first time. And it immediately was put on an Araquanid, which was crazy actually. A crazy read. I feel like... uh ZZ made another weird play in game one he shielded his low health floor just against the low health he piled on And.

Speaker: realized that he couldn't even farm down. which which was a waste for Shield. I think maybe you could have won that game. But from that moment, I think he locked in. He locked in. Um, Yeah, you just called. that that's a rock when it's coming every time he brings corgi knight and just gets it on that recommend it every time and then he catches five star on aba with charge a buck charge a buck

Speaker: does one thing the best. Brakes, metal plus water. But also Thievul. That's something that Firestar brought the whole time. So ZZ just kind of core broke that. and Yeah, I guess at some point ZZ hard swapped.

Speaker: to make sure my models get to not charge stack and fire somebody the wrong prediction. a force for five star happens That was... Yeah, Corviknight now has Ironhats. Generally, Iron has actually a good move now.

Speaker: Um, So that makes it a um way better floor discount. I wonder. if we're going to see more of that. yeah i will say too uh firestar did really well he was in the top five of the tournament so i mean by this point yeah i mean just one of a medal one of a medal i like firestar he's very humble very good

Speaker: um i about the matchup of these waters whereas i've enough i don't have a lot to say I wrote, uh, that's the crime rent beats just about everything from zz except charge a buck as he just gets charged a buck on it So there's not much he you could do with that. The story writes itself. Yeah. And and again, because there's almost no... Canto Ninetales is easy. You could just run. um the The charge of buckets coordinates core very freely

Speaker: and In the rerun... between ZZ and Arrow in the losers finals. arrow just didn't play cantonaitos in the first two games you think kind of trying to Play some mind game there um up until this point save light was still played every single game by the way every single game Ben's favorite Pokemon.

Speaker: How dare you? You know, Sableye is actually... He played Sableye in only one other tournament in ah Barcelona, 2024. And he won that one as well. He's on 100 % win rate with Sableye. Just don't bench that. folks Also 100 % win rate of... ah well no not 100 but he's the two events that he's won has been the first event of the season yeah That's that's true. and And second last year against...

Speaker: uh steiner which which probably was a painful loss like i think he lost like four grand finals in a row yeah more grand finals than most people see and at some point you're like oh boohoo but i mean that's kind of That's it. I think after losing... uh grand finals four times definitely can

Speaker: you know. Yeah, I can imagine it's devastating. Of course, it's like, yeah, most people would dream to be able to even get that far. But if you know that you have the capabilities, but he said it in his interview, you know, maybe he had the skills of a champion before, but he didn't have the mindset. And so being able to kind of break through on those moments, like you said, he really locked in after those battles. i they were They were incredible to watch and you...

Speaker: like no shade at all to anyone that he played the second day. But by the time he was in the grand finals, it's like you. knew ZZ was going to win. It was like...

Speaker: I was like, wait, so this is what it looked like when I played Pablo Dinos. I was chatting in a group of some of the people and ah I said the exact same thing. I said, he's going to 6 -0 him like Martijn did. like He's just...

Speaker: You can tell when someone's so locked in that it's... just like they're they're gonna win no matter how they're they're playing their mindset is i'm winning this And it's...

Speaker: It was a finals where I wanted to see two people win. um Satellize is such a stand -up. guy really cool humble knows he's good but you know doesn't stick it in everyone everyone's face um it's someone you want to see win as well you know he can do it he's also a champion he is supposed to be a champion at some point but you know unluckily on the winner's sides in toronto last year and now here as well He lost that. That's grand finals. he um

Speaker: He made a lot of great calls throughout the tournament with some soft ABA to save line as well. um um um I find that scary, but he got away with it. Like Melmetal lead with Glaring Coruscant on the back. It seems basically like... covering for Shadowhide Dragon's Oh. lack of bulk, right? He has Azumarill, Araquanids.

Speaker: And so... what's the other homie called galarian corsola to cover for that and you have like good boys yeah you have male metal to just punch punch punch punch with double iron brush and dynamic punch right so that was kind of the concept of satellite steam But I, for one, am glaring scores last. biggest hater. It's like a strong neutral Pokemon.

Speaker: that can get punished so hard sure so it's like you take a risk to play neutral what's What's the idea behind it exactly? if If it's up to me, I would never allow Galarian Coruscant to win. i'm I'm its biggest hater. ah if if if if there was like um Yeah, I don't know how to say this if there were ah

Speaker: Two things on fire and I and one of them was glaring course live three bucks of water. I would throw it's all on the other so ill whole bucketst some water Nothing on glaring course The first game of this Grand Finals is actually... the first time ZZBench's Shadow Sableye.

Speaker: Um, Which is crazy, actually. That game starts with a shield KO. Yeah. You don't see it all that often. but no But I felt like that already was like such a showcase of the plot armor ZZ was going to have for this. Because if it it happened on a Galarian Corsair having two attacks, two power gems.

Speaker: for a charge bug with one shield yeah so if he landed one of those power gem Sceptalize would have won that game. But...

Speaker: should look out uh lost in that game and and it was like one of those words like it was so close because you can't tell because like do you yeah it's so bulky and it's just like is that gonna knock out it looks like it's gonna like it only has one hp because yes uh one HP damage goes through, even if a shield goes up. You don't see it very often, but you do see it sometimes in Pokemon Go. One time we saw it in the another Grand Finals, but it was was me yeah it was the actual knockout.

Speaker: Against Galarian Corsel as well. Ha ha! But yeah he had to do that because Azuma was too slow to get to Hydra, so it was the only play for Sceptalize. What do you think of Azumarill running hydro?

Speaker: Yeah, I don't know. It gives it more play into Melmetal. So i see the I can see the vision. You can... do massive damage to Claude Sire, basically anything. yeah But anything other than water, like you you saw Lyle Jeffs throwing Don Dozo into Azumarill a zoom couple of times and you're like, well...

Speaker: This is not a great matchup for either, but I feel like Don Dozo still likes this way more than Azumarill. Azumarill is the only Pokemon... in the meta for like what the past two three seasons that runs bubble there's no other pokemon that likes that fast attack It's only a Zoom rule.

Speaker: that can hang on with it because of such a good typing yeah and the bulk and coverage. And Azure has been around since the beginning too, which I think is like crazy. And we're we're starting to see... New Pokemon making their way in like Melmetal, but there's still some that have been around like Azumarill and Altaria, both being in the top 12. Again, ah it's like some things just, some things never die.

Speaker: And I'm a big fan. Azumo's bad, in my opinion. Do you think it's bad? Yes, but in a good way. It's a trade off, right? I think the bulk of it and I think it's pacing is so freaking slow. It's healthy. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker: you have Do you remember is itself the Shadow Dropul meta? Oh. Amanda. Oh. Aqua till every eight turns. Who thought that was a great idea? Honestly. oh god A crunch that would most likely always debuff. ah And you but only one weakness? yeah Only ground is the weakness? And everyone says, oh, you play Marowak? It's so RPS? Oh, get out of here, man. you play freaky How else do you beat Drapion? It was unbeatable. It was the party pooper of that meta. Okay, enough ranting.

Speaker: um Game two, Satellite actually has that Azumarill on Sableye. But it's just too oppressive, Amanda. yeah You put two shields on Sableye, that's what he did for most of the games anyway. And he just ran through Azumarill as well. So like yeah not much Satellite to do with that either. Quick 3 -0 to reset the bracket and then ah immediately into the the grand finals reset where... Yeah. ZZ just was unstoppable. It felt like every time Satellites was like, okay, let's try Hydreigon. I'm sick of this Sableye. Boom. Flawless. A fun pal. One thing that I advised ZZ, and... and by no By any means, I'm not taking any credit because it's him playing that. He was not believing in Klotzai at first. I said... You should get shields down.

Speaker: for Claude Sire, and I think you should always try to cover... the uh What's it called? Dehydragon. Because it's a Pokemon that can really run through teams if you're not... If you don't have an answer. I mean, you saw... you saw how much fly does to a floor just does like freaking 60 yep um you Apparently, when you safe switch Hydreigon, you can get to a Brutal Swing and a Fly. on floor just before getting farmed down which was brutal, honestly.

Speaker: Not much that Sceptalize could do with with those. And yeah, with that Flawless Sableye and Cold Sire, that's what... It's easy plate for most of it. It's really, really difficult to counter. You think that Azumarill is fine into that? Well, Azumarill did not do what Sceptalize needed it to do. You're right. Azumarill is fine into this, bisumerable but Azumarill is, you know...

Speaker: it's fine but it doesn't win that's the yeah that's the mind joke mentality right and i i give him a lot of crap for this the whole time he loves soft losing and i'm like well what if you try soft winning you try the other side right you want your pokemon to win right do you want to soft lose one two every time that's how that's how you win a regional um i love on my joke by the way But yeah, I think i think game one was just really...

Speaker: uh telling for the set on that yeah yeah with with cz winning with two shields um zz throws in game two a moonblast uh when he has one hp left on his floor just his opponent has only one pokemon left he throws a moonblast who does it amanda you start chilling water there so because the opponent can't get rid of the debuff and the opponent's satellite shields genius shields yeah

Speaker: And then gets an attack drop from the Moonblast. 10 % chance. It was just like, this is the stars are aligned. He can't keep getting away with this. The stars were so aligned. um And yeah, the the the bra the the game three was just a line of despair. yeah from uh from sets of lice but that's sometimes like honestly you know you you see your opponent so locked in you see like your morale is kind of great yeah you're just like okay i gotta Yeah, I got to try something here to see.

Speaker: if any of this will stick. I mean, I remember when you played the Pavlodinas too, it was like, he did try some risky things. You just happened to be like. you're not lucked out but he played aba and you caught him with the aba so i mean it's just uh it's It's so hard. i And it's again, like to your point, Sceptile Ice is like such a good trainer. I have no doubt that like.

Speaker: He will get his flowers soon. Like he's. He's really really good. I really hope so. But but yeah, watching those matchups, it was just like. Oh man, you hate to say it, but the the writing is on the wall here. The the momentum is really behind ZZ. Yeah, as the caster helps, as Henry would say. indeed Yeah. in that last game uh it was charge bucket to melmetal um

Speaker: Satellite swaps into Hydreigon, there's a Florges, and then in the end it was the same life as Glaire and And ZZ even calls a brutal swinging bait on Florges, by the way. It was just...

Speaker: So brutal. So in in Sharks, I saw they renamed. zz to uh the do it all bus man so i guess i guess that's his new name pretty good because because because he he keeps he wins with charger bug right i mean he has 100 win rate with save light but charger box cooler I was like, do I make this video about Chargebug? Chargebug, let's back up here. Chargebug is not cooler. but

Speaker: ah Yeah, I mean, opinions can differ on this, but I mean, i mean it's it's more unique, okay? It's more unique. Yes, okay, fine. Happy now? Yes. Yeah, I think Charterbug, with all due respect, and... i' I'm probably already contradicted by ZZ to begin with. I don't think it's the play because Claude Sire is meta and it's everywhere. It's everywhere. But he still made it work. <unk> I mean, like you you saw him making some really, really good plays with Charger. I mean, there was also, he didn't face many Claude Sire anymore. yeah So maybe that's why. Yeah, that's yeah it's really awesome, right? It depends on the team that your opponent is playing.

Speaker: this can be things that are entirely meta. But if you play against someone who has one pick that just wrecks your team, you're kind of screwed unless you have really have like a plan for specific Pokemon. And that's just the luck of the draw sometimes.

Speaker: so yeah i would say that uh the teams of septile ice and zz not that it heavily favored zez But especially when you can get alignment where you want it, and he got it almost every single time, really kind of helps swing things in your favor.

Speaker: I just feel like it was... um harder Harder meta versus softer meta. And I like it when the softer meta wins that because it it doesn't really set the meta immediately. yeah yeah i think I think the teams from like Sceptalize and Firestar are very meta defining. The ones from ZZ, not so much. But if you compare, for example, to last year, I won the first regional and Hard Jeff won the first regionals. We had a Lantern and a Guillotine.

Speaker: and you actually saw those at the next regional and no one was able to make both of them work yeah um so so like this this doesn't i like that it doesn't set the precedence immediately for the next regional championship but i do think there were a lot of meta options there But ZZ always plays Spice too. I mean, like I think if people know that you're playing, they also know that you play weird teams that have like...

Speaker: definitely compliments of each other on it but not something that... anyone else is probably running in the tournament is the same six as you um and i would argue that that's probably true for z's wireless as well like he always has like some strange pick that is maybe a little bit... off meta or what how he called it earlier on in an interview like he's reverse engineering the meta to see what yeah plays well i know at the worlds he didn't

Speaker: Perform as well as he. hoped he would but he ended up having a good time and that's what he but and gold but he played slurp Okay, that's that's not a Pokemon that was probably that popular at Worlds. It was doing well for him in practice, I believe. He said he I think he it went undefeated for him, but he only played it twice. so Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, that was... I feel like maybe these these were just more... uh his kind of pokemon you know pokemon that he likes pokemon is well acquainted with um and maybe just that just does it for him for for future tournaments as well right like he's he's been playing a lot of different kind of stuff um But yeah, in the end, if you avoid Spider -Man... He's a very good contender. Yeah, yeah. Or maybe he wants some revenge. I mean, he beat Pato Man in Barcelona and they've they've gone head to head quite a few times.

Speaker: Fatima has been normally getting the better of them there, but it's a brand new spanking season and it looks like ZZ is ready for it. I know he won't be playing at Frankfurt. He'll be at the Boston Safari event.

Speaker: It's true. I was actually hoping, of course you would know. I was hoping you wouldn't know. Other fans can now go to Boston as well if you want to meet ah your Baltimore regional champion. yeah But he will be playing at Nice, I believe. So that that will be a little bit scary for for me, at least. Frankfurt is coming up. and of was going to be

Speaker: a lady and say that since i picked first last time for our draft pick you can pick first for frankfurt assumingly you probably want to pick someone in Europe. Or maybe you want to pick someone in the Australia region because Brisbane is also coming up this next weekend. but I will. I talked to Leo upon your suggestion because Each week that we do the.

Speaker: draft we also asked someone to give us a band and neither one of us can pick that trainer for that week and leo has picked stone collection because Well. Let's have him. I'll have him say it.

Speaker: hello everyone the battler that i am going to ban is gonna be stone collection because i feel like i always jinx him and this time i'm explicitly Not jinxing him. I'm reverse jinxing him.

Speaker: Go Nuts! That's fair. SubCollector is a very good player. Goes to many regional championships. I definitely expect him at Frankfurt as well. We cannot pick regional champions, right? You can pick regional champions.

Speaker: Oh, so I could pick ZZ. You could pick ZZ, but he's not playing in Frankfurt as you just pointed out. but yeah but it's it's a trip for you You can pick him, but his points that were before you picked him do not count for your overall drafting. So let's say 10 points are awarded to anyone who gets first place.

Speaker: ah Yeah, you you don't get 10 points by now picking ZZ. okay so i have to pick someone who's going to win frankfurt very likely yeah mostly um Colin Six. Okay. You're on for ah ah another Dutch trainer here, like yourself. Stone Collection, I think Leo, that was actually really smart of Leo because since he plays so many, consistently he will probably...

Speaker: you know, top cut quite a few things. So he will probably do quite well in the overall draft. You're going to call it six. Yeah. ah Walk me through it. Yeah, you can't pick Stone Collection now because Leo Banting... Yeah, I'm not picking Stone Collection. I just want to know why you are picking Colin Six as yours.

Speaker: uh because i know he's going to frankfurt he hasn't won in a while so he's going to be hungry for more right he's won his first trophy last season um I think he's... There's no other European, I believe. and Correct me if I'm wrong. There's one... Three regional championships. There's like three or four.

Speaker: players that have done that so colin could be uh i think it's me paula and colin his nickname ah Yes, yes. Sorry, I forgot about 2022. bremen so yes i believe there's four players who've done that maybe there's one more that i forgot about but uh Yeah.

Speaker: so that's why i think colin might be a good guess perhaps he's the first one to to win four All right, well. I'm going to go with Boom 20. Oh man. I should have known that. I was like, play it cool, play it cool. I should have known. I have faith in Colin. I have faith in Colin too. was a finalist at uic last year he's He's also like...

Speaker: I feel like at the beginning. He was a very safe. player. where he was you know like he he knew his mechanics, he knew he was good, and so he would just kind of reliably do safe.

Speaker: things and it would work out really well for him. I think he's gotten a lot more diverse in the Pokemon that he can play and also his tactics of when he plays against people. I remember he played against Arceus Aurelius in the finals. Yeah, he destroyed his confidence. And Marcus said it afterwards too. He's like, I just...

Speaker: I knew what you were going to do because I know that you play this way. So I knew that like you were not going to make any risky picks, which made me much more flexible in my lines. And I think Colin really took that to heart and ah started playing a bit more aggressively and a bit more. risky and I mean, Colin is is definitely someone to be feared if you're sitting across the table from him.

Speaker: Well, ever since, I believe i believe he has won, right? So maybe he should go back to playing safe. Do it for me, Colin. No, no, no. I told Boom I was going to pick him if if you didn't snatch him up first. And he said.

Speaker: I'm a safe pick because I'm playing to win. So. Oh. pa yeah i I'm coaching Colin. So this is goingnna this is truly like a Belgian versus Dutch fantasy draft here. It won't be even close, honestly.

Speaker: I'm sending, who's the guy who beat me in Prague again? Akhlainkin with the carving to RPS Boom. And then Boom gets knocked out by PvP David, who lost to... someone who's playing for the first time but just happens to RPS him. Okay, wow. You're like ah you're using Future Sight here. the Low odds of happening, but so we're we're playing those cards.

Speaker: deal okay well we'll have to see it's uh this weekend coming up so make sure to tune in on twitch Dot. r slash pokemon go or on youtube for the battles.

Speaker: And... um We can quickly talk about any events. I know since you're doing daily videos, maybe you can give us a heads up of what's going up. And then I would like to play a game with you. So. Uh oh. Another game. Another game. sir There's actually not really ah a lot of events coming this this week.

Speaker: um that's why they replace it with like this choose your path thing There are mega Malamar rates coming from Wednesday again, but they're regular mega rates. So you get like 200 mega energy energy per rates. It's not going to be.

Speaker: uh unless you go hard it's not gonna be enough to get it super max but i don't think you really are really going to uh to need supermax level for malamar as much i don't think it's a very prominent pick it's it becomes a little bit better into fairy types as with cybeam plus But it's not going to be...

Speaker: as significant whenever sableye is around so don't think that's something you need to grind as much. On Saturday, there's going to be the the catch mastery for Phantom specifically. and if memory serves well i believe that means you're gonna get like five pages off make this amount of great throws make uh five nice curveball throws etc i believe we're also gonna get them in uh field research from from what i read there's going to be Drifloon and Cherubi.

Speaker: Also around, so. Awesome. You want to get those? That's also there. And I think that's kind of it for events. There's going to be some Safari City events, but I'm not super well informed on those. I know there's some unknown, there's some mud braids, there's some starters. Nothing that really stands out as much, but just a good time, really. Yeah.

Speaker: I uh, I went have some mud bray from trades but i have never been at an event yet where it has been spawning so I hope to one day catch my own.

Speaker: Oh, one more thing. Tell me. Thursday, are you you're a metal collector, right? I'm a metal collector for sure. Yes. With Rattata Spotlight Hour, there's going to be more XXS. For your medal! Whoa!

Speaker: if that gets you actually If that doesn't get you excited, Amanda, I don't know what else. That's not the medal that I was going for, but now that I i know that, I probably will play. Yeah, that's the kind of medal you thought I I'm sure you didn't mean this kind of medal. Definitely not getting those. Oh, speaking of, I'm a little bit...

Speaker: not pissed but my competitive side was flaring a little bit because i since i travel a lot i I don't use my Go Plus very often. So that's also, as as you are well aware, I lose them quite often. yeah um Triptando has beat me to 20 ,000 unique Pokestops because he's in Canada and...

Speaker: It's unfair. I i didn't know i didn't you were a...

Speaker: competing until it was at a point when I was like, h I could. Hit it maybe before he goes, because it was like. late at night for him. So I was like, i do it in the morning, I could crank them out just to get them ahead of him. But I'm actually not because I'm going to start a new YouTube.

Speaker: series coming up soon. okay ah' the 20th stop spin is going to be featured in this one. ah So later this week. So it'll probably come out next week. Like a whole separate video? Yeah. Well, it's going to be a vlog or something.

Speaker: just Yeah, it's it's sort of a vlog. Am I going to be in it? No. Not this one. I won't watch them. But what when it comes out, we can talk about it and you can offer me critiques and maybe what you would like to see in the next ones coming up.

Speaker: anyone Anyone who's listening, go ahead. Make sure to record on the Rattata Spotlight Hour to make a video on that as well. This is my badges.

Speaker: all Alright. This is the game that we're going to play this week, Martijn. Uh -oh. Are you? familiar with what is called like a blind draft or a blind top 10.

Speaker: No, but I was afraid you were going to say Dark Magic. I hate that game. Do you want to play Black Magic? Black Magic, whatever. No, so I'm going to give you... names, but I'm gonna give them to you one at a time.

Speaker: And then you have to decide on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the best, 10 being the least, where they're going to rank on this list. But the thing is, you don't know. who i'm going to say so yeah i know you know look yeah let's get it on i know what it is all right i know what it is are you ready this still is the worst yeah home slice henry I'm going to put him at seven. He's good, but but I'm just afraid of who else is coming. And he never plays Regals anyway. He has to prove himself. All right. Ripperly.

Speaker: He hasn't won a regional yet. I'm going to put him... That's eight. I already hate that I put the Henry at seven, respectfully. Triptando! Nein. Ask to win an IC before... Actually, just top cut or qualify for Worlds. Yes. Deal. ah Master Mihir?

Speaker: I'm gonna put him at a three. three Yeah. Lil' Sparty. ah Um... Seven, eight, nine have been taken. Six six better now taken. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. She she has potential. yeah Continental.

Speaker: One. Easy. that's the That's the next season's world champion. All right. Elche? Crap. Oh, he clapped me so hard in that verse. You have ah two. Four, five. Five.

Speaker: Bye.

Speaker: That's one of regional rights. I think he close though. Yeah, he's top cut before, but he hasn't won a regional competition. Javier V20. Feel? That's one or two regionals, I believe.

Speaker: It's accent Which ones do I have left? Two and ten. Not 10. You're going to have left the best one for for last, haven't you?

Speaker: Rick Flareon. ah Sorry, Rick. Sorry. Nothing you can do with that anymore, Rick. Sorry you're in that tense spot. I could have put X in there. yeah

Speaker: So there you go. That is Martijn's. Blind top 10 ranking of PB. p players in Pokemon Go.

Speaker: It's a fun game, right? It's pretty fun. You just caused a fight between me and Triptando. I'm going to immediately tell. I'm so confident. But he hasn't played Beatles as much. It's true. Triptando is a person, especially in Europe, he's helping run things behind the scenes. So he's not playing in as many competitions. Forgive me. Please still help me with graphics. No, I'm not going to. I mean, like the fact that he beat me. no i mean I mean, to him. I put him immediately on here. I was like, we're going to. Blast him immediately. He's joining the call right now. Let's bring him in. Alright, that's all I got for this ah episode. Like I said, it's been really fun to talk to you. No, I'm nice. I'm the nice one.

Speaker: ah ah ah I'll get you back. Okay, all right. Maybe if you want, you can think of a ah game or something that ah you put me on the spot next week. Oh, I will. Oh, yes. just This is homework. Oh, boy. All right. I don't think you'll have time. You know, you got this exam you got to study for. No, screw the exam. Screw the exam. No, don't worry. I have a new mission now. Alrighty. Well, I don't know if you have anything else, but I... I'm done for now.

Speaker: i think i'm gonna have dinner amanda all right uh 7 p .m and my italian friends won't make fun of me if i have dinner yeah this is seven instead of five very late for you so yeah go get something in your tummy and we will catch you guys all in the next one Bye.
