Speaker: Welcome back to a brand new edition of Tap Tap Cast. Maybe we could call this Tap Tap Cast 2 .0 even. I am Amanda, also known as Lumberger, and I'm here alongside my good friend, my best friend. Inadequance. Yes, I actually put my name as Amanda's best friend this time because that is who I am. um We are doing a bit of a new format now. which is not exactly creative new, but it's us new. It's actually just us. We don't have ah a guest this time.

Speaker: um Just to talk about... How do I say this more active? or actual Pokemon Go stuff this time rather than interviewing, which I think was also a fun thing to do for sure. yeah

Speaker: let's do this for for the time being yeah yeah and who's to say maybe we'll bring in guests here and there but uh already scheduling if you know me is a nightmare in general so adding a third person in was pretty much just asking for this i didn't want to say that i didn't want to blast you right away already starting out this is going so horribly

Speaker: But I wanted to bring up this for our very first topic, because even though you claim to be my best friend, we were both in the same area for, I would say, probably a week.

Speaker: And I think I saw you. once. Wants this entire... week of being in sunny, beautiful.

Speaker: San Francisco, California Well, it wasn't exactly sunny. That's also true. but uh yeah i mean one of us was backstage the whole time and one of us was in the crowd ah Well, actually, for not too long. But yeah, it was um it was quite the event. Worlds is always fun, in my opinion. But as as much as as fun as Worlds always is, and I'm always the the the biggest fan of Worlds, this was my least favorite.

Speaker: okay to get right into it yeah uh the competition obviously great that the people the competitors great but um you know i don't know if this is the pokemon xp thing or if it was just the vibe in San Francisco in general, it felt so over.

Speaker: crowded it was a crazy crowded i could not walk outside and you know like i'm i'm not the tallest i don't see a lot when there's like 50 people with them within a proximity of one meter of me um and then you know the pokemon center it's it's it was cool there's a lot to buy but i feel like you could buy half of it outside as well right next to the pokemon center where it was like a a small market of resellers which i found crazy, right so Yeah, world's greats.

Speaker: Unfortunately, you know, maybe part of it that it wasn't my favorite was because you were hiding the whole time from me. Oh, don't you even start. But but I think XP was ah was quite the experiment and I hope we all learned from it.

Speaker: Yeah, I think it was a double edged sword, right? Because I think there was a lot of people who were excited about XP and the things that were going on around the city. And some of them arguably were more excited about that than the actual championship series. So it was cool to be able to cater to both like the fans of actually.

Speaker: Pokemon in general, and also those who were kind of there to to watch everyone play. But I do agree, it was almost impossible to move about halfway. And that's even with like access passes and stuff. It was just trying to move from point A to point B was very strenuous. I would i can't imagine if anyone had like some sort of claustrophobia or was truly trying to find their friends in a very short period of time, how anyone was successful. Because I think there was over 50 ,000 people that were just...

Speaker: walking around this this one small street yeah it it was quite funny because like me and ash came across chris brown and uh you know she she keeps like at every event saying going to him telling him yo you did great job it was fun but it did it

Speaker: it seemed this time as if chris brown was trying to maneuver his way throughout the area as well getting some work done yeah yeah it was like oh crap are we like bothering him um it was it was fine I'm sure Chris Brown didn't mind as much. But besides that part of your experience, let's kind of build up to it. So so I was part of the experience of being one of the casters that was yeah casting over the event. So you're right. I was behind the scenes for most of it. You are normally overall a caster who's been selected for quite a few things. You did a couple international championships, but you chose to compete at the World Championships this year. You had an amazing season ah winning multiple regional competitions. Just two. That's multiple. And I think you were kind of on the favored end to do quite well in the tournament. And I don't think you did bad by any means, but we actually didn't even get an opportunity to see you play at all until like almost the very end of day one. So walk us through how your world's day one went.

Speaker: Well... Obviously, that's also because they only did like winners finals at some point, right? I think they do winners rounds 2, 3, 4, if you're like in the early groups. And I wasn't. I i was not on the late group. I started at 10 .45.

Speaker: which was okay. My group looked okay -ish, right? World's obviously super stacked. There's no seeding, so you kind of got to get lucky with who you face. I see my group. I see, you know, Lilzard, Jeff, Ilum, Howie, Jinx, and... a couple other trainers that seemed quite well and just like with most worlds what are the odds you face the best ones right away usually hardly ever um so i imagine something like i'll have either hard jeff or howie or ilham on my side of the bracket and we can get through it uh maybe it'll be fine like worlds obviously um

Speaker: I appreciate that you you think I'm one of the outstanders. Obviously, I think I try to not to raise the expectations and always. For myself, mainly, right? Sure. Not raise the expectation and be like, you know, at Worlds, everyone's good. I shouldn't expect too much of myself. Um, But then I see the brackets. And round one, I play against...

Speaker: mr hard jeff the one of if not the best brazilian trainer um And if I would win that match... my next round would it be against ilum one off if not the best trainer from any Yeah, that was actually looking quite tough.

Speaker: and you know what i didn't even mind i did not even mind i was like you didn't take a big gulp at the beginning and then like oh man this is uh this could be it immediately yes i took a big gulp i swallowed it and i was like well that's the big gulp sure um if you want to win worlds you need to beat everyone anyway and you know Um...

Speaker: The way I see it... I don't feel like people should be afraid of me. I'm just a person and I'm also not afraid of sad other people. because they're also just person. So, yeah, round one against Hard Jeff, my team.

Speaker: Amanda, I don't know if you... ah Did you cast my battle? I think you did, right? Against Jinns, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. so So you saw my team. It was utter crap. I locked it in like a week before. I was like, I don't even want to think more about it. I wanted to use a lot of 9 -tills.

Speaker: uh fit well with ampouleon and we'll put guillotine and some sort of fairy Did I have a fairy? Yes, it was a little night. It was dark. It was not a great team. It was very weak to the likes of Azumarill, which I faced right off the bat. My friends were telling me the Brazilian trainers are bringing Dondozo, and that is a Pokemon I actually did not account for at all. It was not used in practice tournaments. I didn't scrim much other than two people this time.

Speaker: Because brett my practice just went bad. I just kept losing one match after another. I'm like, I'm just going to flop at the Worlds. Right. So, yeah, I was prepared for Don Dozo and I see the team stuff hard, Jeff. No Don Dozo. There was Azumarill. shadow canton nine tools um you know what i can grab the yeah yeah i was just gonna look up as well like some of the because one specific Pokemon that stood out was Morgrem. Okay.

Speaker: If you are a guillotine hater... Morgan is your guy. Yeah, it's like he knew that you guys would be ah playing. It's actually crazy. um but yeah he had an ecu in electrodes uh cloths are very bulky and manti now my team had almost no mantine answer the way i would deal with it was either with ampollio or little nine tails but i obviously had specific attack amanda uh shadow gear tina wins twos against manti so my shadow gear tina would win the two shields against everything but more gram

Speaker: um so The thing is... uh one specific pokemon of mine alone nine tools uh and he would No, no, sorry. It's Empoleon. I... I... What? think he always expected because i need to check a zoom i only assume i'm supposed to check the zoom So.

Speaker: Game one, just going to go briefly through this, right? Because imagining all of it, I feel like can be a little bit too much. yeah So I'm just briefly for those who, I'm i'm just going to read off your team for those who maybe doesn't know. You had the Empoleon, you had Shadow Giratina, you had Canto Marowak, Alolan Ninetales, Poliwrath, and also...

Speaker: um The new one. I can't now. I can't think of his name right now. The Nickit evolution. Oh, Thievul. Thievul. Yes. Thank you very much. The cute fox. um This team is a nightmare against Azumarill. Just looking at it real quick. If you face an Azumarill at all, that's ah pretty much you have one.

Speaker: pure counter on it but uh yeah okay so go ahead yeah so uh game one just briefly uh i played the best game of my life ever um i lead ampollion into mantine which is one of my okay answers into it and then amanda I win the Zero Shields, blah, blah, blah. He brings in Shadowcantle Ninetales.

Speaker: I have Alolan Ninetales and Shadow Gear Tina. What do you think I brought? uh sorry he brought in a zoomer what do you think i brought in guillotine Or alone in Nightsills. Alone nights with chilling water, by the way. No dazzling clean.

Speaker: That's tough right because i mean neither one does great the pacing i would say of guillotine is better But you're also not going to be able to knock out an Azumarill. this is a full health of zoomer also i maybe go in with the nine tails to try to lower down its attack power and just absorb some of its attacks?

Speaker: yeah so i called shadow cantonites in the back i brought a little knights into azur and guess what it was shadow cantonite okay that was a good prediction on your part then yeah he had to like he built up like a move swapped out and to be like two shield annoying with nine tails so i had at the very end to predict exactly when he would try to combo play my guillotine and i got it i got the the the exact timing he did like three fast seconds swap and i was like he's gotta swap Now, catch the Ice Beam all alone in the Night Tools. Have a move on Giratina. It was like...

Speaker: Art. And I was like.

Speaker: If I play like this, i wear with I will win Worlds. I will win Worlds. It's a good start for your for your day, then. Yeah, I don't remember game two. I just remember him throwing a lot of player up into my empire. And this is also hard for for people who are maybe not quite knowing how our competitive circuit works, even at Worlds. Go is a double elimination tournament. So, yeah I mean, like you said, hard Jeff is arguably one of the best trainers of, uh, the Latin America region. And you are also one of the best, probably of the European region.

Speaker: Playing each other in round one is... pretty much a nightmare scenario for either you know because once you're down in the loser's side of the bracket especially in round one it's just a lot tougher to be able to keep that momentum up for not only the rest of day one but also to be able to try to continue on knowing you can only lose one more round and then you will be out Yeah, so no...

Speaker: um I know a lot of these players, right? And it's not like I'm besties with hard Jeff, but, but, you know, we talk to each other, we're friendly and it's kind of hard to see that, you know, this. A lot of disappointments. Of course, yeah. they lose round one Especially when you know you have a trainer in front of you who has high expectations. yeah probably or odd i he was also He was one of the favorite players to... ah to yeah move on so i mean third place last year right yep yep Yeah.

Speaker: So you know that was tough for him, but yeah, nothing personal. So you beat him? It was a 2 -0. Yes, 2 -0. And then you moved on to Elim. Yeah. One of the best in any.

Speaker: Uh... Did he win a regional in this season? I don't... He did actually, he won in Houston, yes. So I believe also a three -time regional champion.

Speaker: So, you know. Worthy opponents. I mean, RJF won even more regionals, so... maybe even worth it. But yeah, Ilum actually did have Don Dozo. The problem for Elon was his team was crazy weak. to counter polyrath.

Speaker: I can't remember. Yeah, which is also Insane, but go on. My second name. Yes, Altaria. Well, Altaria is an okay matchup. Obviously, fly a flying Pokemon, blah, blah, blah. But I have Ice Wind on Poliwrath. Don Dozo sucks against Poliwrath.

Speaker: LickyLicky sucks against Poliwrath. CantoNightTales is actually okay in the zeros, but everything else... bad shadow save light what are you gonna do drain punch yeah they will drain punch and The more shields there are in play, the worse it gets. But it's...

Speaker: very playable for polygraphs and then take it on Also super fine for a Bolly Rat. So. Yeah, I guess let me just kind of disrespected a lot of nine tills I Game 1. Totally disrespected Don Dozo. I always liked that Pokemon as a Bozo. I played Alolan Nidales with Marowak in the back. If he let Don Dozer right on the spot, I would lose immediately.

Speaker: You know, my classic ABA strats where you have one Pokemon in the lead and then you have another one in the back. I mean, it's worlds. It's what you do. That's how I got knocked out too later. um yeah i think in game three i'm not sure if he threw that or not but it it came down to a point where i had he had to make a call where i would throw Or not throw my... move on his Don Dozo because he had like a 1 HP Altaria and we both had a move on our Marowak and his Don Dozo.

Speaker: And I made the call correctly and I slammed the table. I was like, yes! I was happy. I was happy. Yeah. So that was my round two against Ilum. It was a 2 -1. Yeah, very, very tough rounds. Very close battles.

Speaker: Yeah, and now I'm looking up your third player because I truthfully don't really know much about them. And their name is TKLeon3. So walk me through what happened there. Yeah, I saw they, I believe they they beat Anhoff.

Speaker: So yes, that that did make it a little bit scary. Because I... Yes, I didn't know them either and they probably... qualified through the Japanese qualifiers this season. uh they increased i believe the amount of trains that qualified from like 16 to 64.

Speaker: uh which is like four times more players from japan And in that sense, you know it's kind of hard to predict what they bring. The Japanese play a lot of... They play... similar to me where they're like you know what i like this book when i'm going to build around this so you might just face something crazy and i faced a team with a volt switch fortress and gus lord i don't really remember the other pokemon uh we have a course galarian corsela empoleon florges and the shadow canto marowak Yeah.

Speaker: Um...

Speaker: I think he hard counted me in game one. I don't remember super well, but... Oh, I remember! He baited all the time! That's what he did. He threw Sand Tombs into my Alolan Nineties, and I was like, you know what? Alolan Nineties with Chilling Water is okay in Shadow Fortress. We're just gonna play it the whole time. And then he Sand Tombs, and he threw Nightshade with Galarian Corsola, which I called the bait. I shielded nothing. So, yeah, that that went pretty smooth, a pretty quick 2 -0. uh did a really hard count to him as mine actually he really called my lines except the last one where i was like

Speaker: dang it i have like a 40 evil there's no way there's only one pokemon i can beat a man that's going to be the inferior ghost type pokemon galarian corsola And that's what he had. And then I boosted it. And then you're like... Woo! Yeah, that's exactly what I needed. I was like, debuffs, 40 % health, one shield, so you had nothing. and yeah that was the only thing i needed to to to beat it because my team was pretty prone to glaring course i kind of always expected it which was a kind of a flaw my team to be honest because uh

Speaker: Thievul is very easy to wall. And that was... that was a tough thing like manti plus tinkerton core was the worst i could face and also was everywhere so i mean i think mantine was the number four used pokemon yeah the whole tournament so but it dropped off so much and i was like dang i actually made a good uh a good call for for the storm, is if only I got further.

Speaker: yeah well i tell you what to just going back to tk leon since we don't really know uh very much just looking at his record four worlds he Did great about North America. So he 2 -0'd Pyro Panda, and he 2 -0'd Enhoff. He lost to you 0 -2, and he ended up getting kicked out immediately after by Richie, a 14 -09. Oh, no, Richie. And a 1 -2 right after that. so I... I think this was his first ever world. It looks like.

Speaker: A 2 -2. Not too bad to start out your record with. Yeah. But you, on the other hand, are crushing so far in the tournament. You've yeah knocked ah down some pretty big names to the loser side of the bracket. You are now in the winner's finals, and this is where I finally see your smiling face for the first time on screen, ah winning your first game against Jins very decisively without even showing your third Pokemon.

Speaker: Yeah, so like the thing with Jinx was I saw the carving. You know how he informed me before, like he has a Pidgeot with Heatwave. I'm like, what the heck? Oh, he has a carving, by the way. I'm like, oh, it's this kind of person. With all due respect. obviously a Jinzuku player. But I was like, OK, we're going to have this nonsense. I look at a team sheet. I'm like. This guy has no Emporium Launcher. He's not going to bring Karmic. So game one, I run ABA to it. Game two, I run Triple Weak to it. Game three, I run ABA.

Speaker: i did i think i ran aba to it again because i was like i just don't respect the spoke bowl it's not coming there's no chance and he didn't bring it it was a good call but uh yeah i think i didn't think my team choice is very very well through.

Speaker: um Because... i should know a little bit better that he would play the same things a little bit more like especially after game two bring dondozo and he wins with that i should have kind of read that he would be more comfortable with that so kind of unfortunate um i was Super super pissed.

Speaker: Yeah. And I lost the third game. I was so angry with myself, Amanda, because it was... It was a free game. He had no chance. If i if all I did... was swap empoleon After I knock out this Galarian Corsola into Don Dozo.

Speaker: I would have half my Alona Knights for his Shadow Pidgeot. And if he swaps out into Shadow Pidgeot into my Empoleon, I would have Polarad for Dondozo. It was... game set match But I didn't do that. In my head, I was like... do i do it no i'm gonna go for pure alignment and then he's pidgeot with a shield advantage just swept it was I was so mad with myself. yeah It was unfortunate. Pidgeot was a unique pick, I think, for the tournament. And I mean, he really played it quite well because he was knocking out some pretty...

Speaker: Not even knocking out. but he was He was playing well with... uh bit of a rps team but also a fairly unique team as well. Jin's had a ah pretty good run at Worlds.

Speaker: Yeah. uh i think pigeon was a pretty cool pokemon very good pokemon to double shield and rps in the back for sure. and i'm so You're laughing, but I like doing that. I like i know yeah i like winning lead RPs in the back. It's so free if if you can do that.

Speaker: So. Yeah, tough, tough, very tough, super mad with myself. It was yeah just unnecessary. It wasn't like I couldn't do anything. I just threw it at myself. And sure I feel like 99 out of 100 times I make the correct play there. so Yeah, we dropped to the losers then and then

Speaker: And it's also hard because you do it on stream, right? So it's like, ah I don't care about that. No, it's like I don't feel like maybe like your best game ever. Like you're talking about playing against hard, Jeff, knowing exactly what to predict. It's like, these are the type of games I imagine if you're a really good player that you're like, I wish they would have saw that. Oh, that was such a math game.

Speaker: I was so proud of that. but Okay, yeah. So now you're you're knocked down to the loser's side of the bracket, and you have to continue on ah in the loser's yeah finals to see if you will be able to make it on to day two.

Speaker: Yeah, so remember when I talked about Tinkton Mantine core? Can you open Richie's team up real quick? Yeah, you bet. He has all the nightmare Pokemon for me. I'm with Tinkton to Mantine. Well, not so much Tinkton, but definitely Mantine. Annihilate!

Speaker: Oh! Shadow Annihilate yeah All but one of my Pokemon, Lusa and Eileep. ah and Like I said, Mantine, Tinkerton, Cora. Did he have a Gileran Corsola? He had a Gileran Corsola, a Gus Lord, and a Unovan Stunfisk.

Speaker: they were I was like, okay, good thing he can only run three Pokemon. Because otherwise im so I'm so done for. it but um No, I guess Richie were very special games for me.

Speaker: especially in a way that I was like, I was still mad, Amanda. I was like, whatever. I see the Tinkerton and I'm like, I don't care about your Tinkerton. I'm just going to throw in Thievul and Alolan Knights. So game one, I let Thievul with Alolan Knights in the back. If you face Tinkerton there...

Speaker: Game over on the spot, Rob. but he didn't play it he played like mantine uh galarian corsla and annihilate So. I play Giratin as my third, just disrespecting Tinkerton entirely game one.

Speaker: And I win. I just RPS him, by basically. right He has nothing on my gear team after the man team was gone. Um, And game two, Amanda, I'm sitting there, I'm like... Do I care?

Speaker: Do I care about that ticket zone? Whatever. I just threw... I could have been world champion maybe if I didn't throw that winner's round. That's what I was thinking. And now I have to do a loser's round again. I mean, it's not like the first time I get far, but... Sure, yeah. So much harder, so much effort. The event's too crowded. I was just mad. I was so, so mad still. I was not thinking. And that can also...

Speaker: truthfully throw your game right when you're feeling it when you're on you can like kind of like kind of push through some of these annoying feelings but if you're already a little bit irritated and now you're playing at a disadvantage that can kind of overall mess with the the play style, the the decisions that you're making.

Speaker: Yeah. So anyway, I disrespected Tinkerton again. I was like, I think I let Geartina. i wasn't sure what what i let even a lot of nights with gear tina and i put the people at the lowland nitros again and then after the game is finished he leans over and he's like why do you not respect tinkerton i think it's all i'm like i didn't care dude i didn't care sorry didn't care anymore and the guy was like on an insane losers run i think which which felt...

Speaker: maybe a little bit bad that he lost a song who was like done with the whole already anyway yeah yeah um I guess that was my day one. Yeah, yeah. Kind of happy to to to make it, obviously, to day two. But like I messaged Ash, let's get out of here. I'm done. Yeah. And hence the not seeing you. Yeah, you were casting this one. Yeah, that's true. I ran into ah a mind joke in the lobby after day one. I think he he was going out to eat with you and then I gave you some ah some crap too because he was like, oh, I'm just meeting Martijn. I was like, oh, interesting. Cool. Well, tell him hi, I guess. Oh, he didn't do that actually. Sent you a message like, oh, good, cool to be invited to your super exclusive best friends dinner.

Speaker: you know I would invite you guys sure sure but it's like you you work till freaking 8pm excuses excuses yeah so yeah so you did make day two i would yes say every like you only played on stream once only games that you ended up losing uh but all the other games sounds like they were pretty incredible you won you made it today too uh we also didn't get to see you then ah You played against Out of Pocket. Yeah.

Speaker: And. Looks like he... to OG right so it was like that was the end of your tournament run yeah i didn't even feel bad about that i practiced with like eight people they all beat me the team composition was impossible because my team had another flaw, which was Malamar. And then he combined it with nightmares like Galarian Coruscant and Shadow Fortress. So like yeah I always needed to bring... Thievul, and he always brings Fortress, which was crazy good into into most of my Pokemon. I had to make some calls.

Speaker: um some friends of my advice using polling because it was very neutral to him and i feel like and maybe it's easier to say it in hindsight but i feel like i should have taken a more risk to try and force an impossible matchup into win but again easier to say in hindsight right like who's gonna play like polygraph uh lead with a guillotine on the back against mulliman glenn corslet teams crazy people but yeah that something like that could have won me uh again.

Speaker: yeah But all in all, I would say that... It was not an unsuccessful world run. Maybe not the run that you were overall looking for. Because, yeah, of course, if you're playing, you want to play to win. You were a finalist in Honolulu. So expectations were...

Speaker: Relatively high, as we can see the trophy behind you. That was the last Worlds that you had competed in because you casted the one after that in Anaheim. But 25th overall. is a very solid placement Yeah. I just wonder where I could have ended up. Already, right? Because the season hasn't started yet.

Speaker: Do you have? hopes for this year or is it a secret uh inadequence is cooking up for what he wants to do for worlds in Singapore. Are we moving to our next topic? Well, I mean... I guess we let's let's briefly touch on the actual. finals.

Speaker: Because that was... both great and horrible at the exact same time right i mean so so we had emmy wheedle who is our only senior division world champion up for the potential run of being also ah but You know, he he could be our only shot of a double world champion in a single.

Speaker: round because after this year we're moving on to Three Verses, Three verse Worlds, versus... ah Hiro Maru, who was a Japanese trainer, first time competing in Worlds and beat Emi Weedle earlier on, knocked him down to the loser's bracket.

Speaker: um The games, all of them, every single game that they played. ah not even on the green stage on the championship sunday those two are just very evenly matched and they played really well against each other.

Speaker: So they were fun battles to watch overall. but ah I mean. The game being... the game. Just... overall made the situation, I think, on Championship Sunday quite horrible, not only for Go, but kind of the...

Speaker: I mean, it it set timing back. United, too. They went over. um But, I mean, it was like. Multiple. game reviews And I don't.

Speaker: Blame the... them for bringing up. game reviews but i mean they took way longer than I think it... Probably. Should have had to on either end. And then it I think it left a sour taste in quite a few people's mouths overall. Yeah, those poor casters as well, right? Yeah, i think of the casters. Also, truthfully, up there, like...

Speaker: It was working with some... not No shade against them. i like love the whole team but we had like no computers up there or anything either so it's like we We're trying to get some information about But no one's relaying to us even, or like, are they going to put something up on the screen?

Speaker: are So we're like all the way up. yeah yeah we were up like at the very very top so you could like look down and see the stage behind it was very cool setting but it was also yeah uh Yeah, I just I truthfully I felt so bad for both of those trainers at multiple points in that what's like arguably could be the highlight of their whole you know.

Speaker: career and there was like a some sourness to it. They won a lot of money. ah true They'll be fine. Okay, so you're saying it's fine. So you're telling me if you're in that position, you're fine just because you're making some money. It'll be annoying.

Speaker: uh in the moment but once i sell that card sure uh for like 50k plus yeah i'll be good okay okay yeah um obviously Yeah, like you say, especially...

Speaker: how it looks to players not from Go. You're like, what's going on now? Why is this taking so long? And you're like waiting for TCG. It's like... I don't know why ghosting twice as long. That that is actually crazy.

Speaker: Um, That was very unfortunate for sure and it was just so a rough finals was but if you look at that last game There was a situation where Hiromaru had...

Speaker: at the size of charge stack and he just couldn't launch it the game gave him like a one turn lag or something yeah and fire it. And then, I mean, we don't speak put in a position where he's like. i he He would have won that game should I have given it up. But... What I've learned.

Speaker: um You know, I'm not... discouraging people from conceding if you think that's the right thing to do is that you especially in the best of five you quickly forget about your previous games what happens or what happened earlier in the match at i believe laic last season uh we had richie

Speaker: uh give a death win to marto in a match where marto had lag and he could have won the battle Richie forgot he had Lack earlier in the battle. He should have not given the Death Wind. And this was also a case where Emmy Weedle... the first battle of that second set, he would have won if he didn't lag and miss an Astonish to Astonish down his Suin Electrode. But because it happened...

Speaker: it went into a rematch and then people are saying yeah you should give a death win for this final game That final game would not have happened if Emi Uido had won that first game. two And I hope he doesn't hear it is but because maybe it makes him feel even worse about it now. but He could have been the world champion before that game. five that we saw now even happen so it was both it just went up and down up and down for both trainers and it yeah it sucks it definitely sucks

Speaker: In the moment, until you get your trophy. that Then it's all fine. Exactly. And like looking back to, again, I hope that... I hope both of the trainers are super proud of what they accomplished with it because they also They played really, really well. Like the games, when it worked as intended, those games were back and forth. And like, I mean.

Speaker: I mean, we like caught on immediately. ah And so they both of them were like swapping at the same time because he knew exactly what Hiro Amaro was going to do. And so I truly it was like really fun to watch when it was working.

Speaker: Yeah. Well, that was also the last time we saw ah the legacy the legacy system, so. Yep. hopefully the new system will be better i've been playing it a a little bit not too much um Oh, okay.

Speaker: am Am I a higher level than you right now? Unlikely. You're probably like rank minus one. yeah Starting with a handicap. i'm ah I'm at rank five, actually. I did i i did some battles. um And if your connection is good, Amanda, the system works really well. There are still a small ah small flaws. But if you compare it to the legacy system, I feel like it's either equal or less than that. if your connection is not that great or like has a small stutter

Speaker: I feel like it is way more punishing. So perhaps for like regional championships where you have a wired connection, this is this system might work better. It might be fine. But if you I can imagine if you you know you you live somewhere where the connection isn't that great, like Germany, I experience as a third world country sometimes, where it's like your connection just drops in the middle of Berlin, the the capital city. of of of germany and like if that happens uh your connection just drops even a fraction of a second

Speaker: Um, Yeah, you you just lose five five fossils. That's my experience being with it. So like maybe for competitive play, it's fine. For GBL, I mean, I don't... i personally don't feel that strong about gbo anyway where you can play 2000 battles a season but Yeah, definitely.

Speaker: put off some players right yeah i get i get i was like i was testing the new system when i was in peru and i was just like it was like a constant forced over tap And I was just like, maybe I just need to get.

Speaker: used to this new like way of tapping, but I was. ah Not doing so hot in that and getting a little bit frustrated, but but Were you playing it on the, what's it called, Machu Picchu? I could barely play when I was at Machu Picchu. The reception kept going in and out. But that was a cool place. ah I spun some stops. I send it to people who care about gifts, which is not you at all. what

Speaker: that's That's because you never said them to me. bo How many pavilions do you have? more time How many, sorry? The villains? Oh.

Speaker: Like, uh... Can I see that somewhere?

Speaker: I... too shiny does that oh wow okay that's that's actually way better than i thought because uh for

Speaker: You got to ah pin GIFs to be able to do that. I've never seen you pin any. i' I've never had it say. martina pin I usually just speed run the GIFs. um but yeah there are so sometimes when but but like generally i just assume you're like in in belgium selling gifts from sending gifts you assume that i'm in belgium i know i know i i know i know very silly very silly assumption but if you were then i don't need your gifts respectfully fine vi fine yeah

Speaker: I'm sorry. I should keep track of your. Yeah, yeah, you should. You know, with speaking of Ash earlier on, she would like stop opening my gifts for a while. And she said, well, I've already pinned a gift from that last one that you sent me. And I said, OK, listen, Ash, I will never, ever send you the same gift.

Speaker: ever again. Like that is my promise to you because that's ah how often I'm probably spinning a new stop. ah So I always have like a list of actually saved gifts. for when she opens that I can send her a new one.

Speaker: What, you just mark down which gift you've already sent? Well, sometimes, ah you know, I'm in an area where I'll only spend a Pokestop once. because this is and so then i'm like well that's going to ash this is even crazier than feeding berries to pokemon in the gym and i also do that oh a man i have so many i'm like a berry master actual insane person here.

Speaker: Well, you're a master of the PVP. I got to try to master something here. and Speaking of that as well, we just had a moveset update as we've shifted over to a brand new season. Is there anything that's really popping out at you that you think we're going to see more at the regional competitions?

Speaker: and We have Baltimore coming up. for North America and we have Frankfurt coming up for. Europe. quite soon. Yeah, metal metal number one. Melmetal is going to be number one. All right. I've seen it quite a bit. Maybe a very quick assumption, but I think it is insanely strong. A 35 energy charge attack for a Monotype Steel at...

Speaker: Two damage per energy is wicked. Have you seen some of these clean matchups? Like Altaria, you win with... 60 % health in the two shields. Who does that? Melmetal? Melmetal. You are almost forced to...

Speaker: to bring a ground type uh in the new meta i don't think you even bring fighting type book but not annihilate and prime have been nerfed with rage fit prime is still viable and i kind of struggles a little bit more there's not really a lot of fighting type pokemon that you want to bring into this current meta so that makes metal even better you're forced to bring counts to that and um

Speaker: what what are you running as a secondary charge attack if you're suggesting to bring melmetal are you looking for like the rock coverage are you looking for electric coverage Because those are, or superpower, I guess, isn't that the?

Speaker: other potential you could be running on. Silly girl. You have dynamic punch. Dynamic punch now. That's ah that's a really good charge stack. Um. I think. And that is my current prediction. It's not the common the most common move set.

Speaker: um I think Rock Slide is your secondary objective choice. And the reason why is because I just think... that there's going to be Pokemon where simply Pokemon where you need it. And Dynamic Punch is usually is mostly for like normal type Pokemon. Licky Licky is not going to be that common anymore. You could argue that you could have it for Vigoroth, but I don't think you need Dynamic Punch for Vigoroth per se. um Whenever... You need two charge stacks.

Speaker: I think you always throw double iron bash. um Like against Stevel, for example. I do think you lose Stevel without Dynamic Punch, though. So there's argument for it. But I could... definitely see something like like jumpluff coming back uh you know leo's talking about crowbat now i think that's big cope But I could see that being useful.

Speaker: Oh, now I remember which Pokemon I actually want to see. um Scandal Dirt. Maybe not top meta right away. But... These kind of Pokemon are very anti -melmetal. uh have play into altaria especially when it runs boom blast and flamethrowers the charge attacks I feel like Rock Slide could very much be a pinch charge deck that you might want against that kind of Pokemon. So I think Rock Slide might be the the better one in this case. Okay.

Speaker: Well, we'll see ah what is coming up. So, I mean, also mentioning the tournaments that are coming up outside of that area. We have Brisbane for the first one for the Oceania region and Recife for the Latin America region. So those are all coming up in September and October. Our season is. Just... getting started. We haven't really even Yeah.

Speaker: gotten into any of that that stuff. Uh oh.

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, I've i've quite the practice stories going. actually In fact, there's one going on right now. And, um you know, I was talking about Skeletor. The more obvious fire type is Cantonaitos. That's still... a very popular pokemon as well right like obviously trains are still working out a lot right now and uh one of the reasons why i really welcome melmetal is to end this mimiq nonsense right away it's with the third shield who that's That's way too much. broken in my opinion uh especially with a typing like ghost and fairy like as you you nerf bullet punch so You can run Mimikyu freely. Hello. that's ah that We're not doing that in this house. So yeah, Melmetal just ends that nonsense pretty much right away.

Speaker: I really do like the new camera. those so Yeah, actually. after I don't really mind the Mimikyu.

Speaker: uh nonsense as you're calling it i i like that some pokemon are being added to the meta that are at least shaking go up a little bit moveset wise, adding on some extra dynamics to it, you know, because of course we have the different turn durations that people have to know about to be able to generate energy, how much the charge attacks cost. But there's Pokemon that have been recently introduced like Mimikyu, like Morpeko, like Cramorant that ah are kind of changing.

Speaker: the dynamics a little bit of go which i think makes it a little more exciting i know caleb put out this huge video about camera but i i can't watch it you put like three years yeah i was like this is i'll just eyeball it this is too much information for now I agree with you, though. I do like this this kind of abilities.

Speaker: And I'm hoping they added to... existing Pokemon as well. uh it's just the one of mimikyu i it's just not sitting well with me and you know that's just my personal preference sure maybe all others like like yourself like it and that's fine um you know.

Speaker: I like when his head falls down when he doesn't use the shield and it's just like, ugh. Yeah, I don't know. It seems scary that someone just snaps their neck. Yeah, it's like, ah! Get it out!

Speaker: You know, maybe one day we get Shadow Force just hitting through a Protect Shield. Like, that'd be pretty cool. Oh, you would love that. I would love that. Give him another excuse to to use. ah I don't need an excuse. Yeah. are you goingnna are you I know you're going to compete this season. or Is it going to be a continued series of Giratina as well? Or are you looking for a new thing?

Speaker: develops. We'll just see how meta develops. i'm I'm very fine with dropping Giratina. I'm also very fine with continuing the Giratina saga. It okay makes for good content. It definitely does, yeah. I mean i think that you're a trainer that the people are starting to associate with it no matter what.

Speaker: They even see if anyone else is running it. They're like, no, no, no, this is Martian's Pokemon, right? so It reminds me of when I... uh weren't the Johto cap in -game. And Yasser Alid was like, why are you cosplaying FP sticks in -game? I'm like, dude, this is just a cap in in the game. they own It this doesn't own it. Like, ah give me a break. But...

Speaker: I would say expect Giratina sometimes, yes. But if it's going to be 100 % Sableye, then maybe not. Yeah. which i'm i'm hoping for i mean i think sableye is uh obviously yes it's ben's favorite so um so yeah ben's favorite how dare you Put ben from vc that name, yeah that BGC boy in our chat.

Speaker: Peace out. Yeah. um yeah just thinking quickly are there any other move sets or anything that um I think we could. bring up at least that not only is currently there is a mega event going on but megas are going to be allowed in pvp and not only allowed, encouraged. for um LAIC. Yes. So...

Speaker: I guess, yeah, how how do trainers prep for this? Well... there's no beef book ranking yet so i don't know what's going to be good there i just pointing it out there um because we didn't have the all the information at the beginning when we talked about it but all megas despite their their typing besides mega sableye are going to be allowed at laic so there's like a a white band list of like there's certain typings that aren't going to be allowed and then there's certain pokemon that aren't going to be allowed but megas all except for

Speaker: mega sableye are going to be allowed. Yeah. We wouldn't want your favorite Pokemon to... end of the stage yeah exactly well it's too cute especially in the mega version they wouldn't have to do it please yeah yeah You know what they say, women mean the really like jewelry. Yeah, exactly. That's it. It's like his only this big rock. I got save a life for you. That's my boy.

Speaker: I think... i don't think it will be as impactful maybe maybe for laic meta specifically right but i've looked into uh a lot of the mega pokemon And... Amanda, they just suck.

Speaker: It's just bega saveai Mega Mega Malamar, and... in some way Mega Dragonite a little bit. It's better than regular Dragonite, but who's using regular Dragonite anyway? Yeah. um So. i i don't think megas will be that impactful for competitive play slash great league unless the restricted meta calls for it um i really don't think you need to be afraid of that if you're like missing out on mega pokemon They, they you know.

Speaker: I think Scopely did announce that. At some point, you will be able to make out your Pokemon and will be downscaled in CP. The one thing I kind of fear is that you have to...

Speaker: That the IVs won't be... adjusted right i'm hoping that they make like a fixed iv spread for every mega pokemon that's being down skilled or even upskilled for all i care because otherwise you have to go into multiple super max levels i don't think anyone wants to do that do you have any super max level pokemon uh amanda ah That's the most, right? Yes, I have a lot of them. do you actually like like like like like You actually do? You've played all those events?

Speaker: Then you know. Then you know. how hard it is to get to the supermax level no without an event No, its it's almost impossible. yeah Yeah. I mean, there's still like plenty of them that I didn't even think about during the event that's currently going on that I'm like, ah, I'd still need more energy because I also don't know to your point. If if the IVs are going to change. I don't know if I want, but because some Pokemon that you can catch during this mega event, you can automatically mega evolve without. using any of the candy that you normally have to get.

Speaker: yeah that's gonna save like 300. yes there's nothing on like oh well i mean some of them are like i i mean i like the meta gross i i don't even have the candies to ever i've never been able to mega and and if you don't have the candies to be able to mega first time then you cannot get any more it's not like you can walk it to get this energy or anything like that so it's uh yeah

Speaker: I'm very curious to see how it will play out. I think it's cool that they're trying to do some things to... add different components to our game though because if you think about you know every time a new video game comes out with pokemon they they have a new Mm -hmm that they're adding to the battles. And then you see that the next year during the regionals and the championships goes.

Speaker: I don't want to say stale, but we don't have the similar amount of changes. we do have moveset updates but as a whole I think people just tuning into it, they don't see much of a difference between that besides what Pokemon are being used. Which is arguably true for TCG, too. I mean, I guess that there's still cards, right? and I mean... There's new cards, I guess. yeah But yes, for like...

Speaker: uh someone who doesn't know tcg at all it does look the same but yeah we go i think I really like this concept. especially for competitive play i just don't want it to you know to be impactful, if that makes any sense. like like on on um Like I like it to be impactful on the on the competition itself

Speaker: but not on the competitors. I don't want to wish anyone to now get two super max level Pokemon or like you get a special break pointer mega bee drill. Oh.

Speaker: he go get another super max level now he needs 24 000 mega energy uh great concept yeah yeah that would be the worst right that's why i really want fixed iv so you don't have to get multiple true but you do also get a third charge attack that that is one thing that is uh being that was introduced but but so if you are using the mega at the top level which i assume people will want to do for laic then you will have a third charge attack that you can opt from and then that changes a lot of different dynamics i think within the the play then your coverage is larger

Speaker: Perhaps you have a better bait. attack You know, there's a yeah lot of. But I'm going into it. What if you are... in your you're You're in your final game of day one to get to day two.

Speaker: and you have your mega dragonite you have an outrage plus ready to one shot this old turret that's about to get to that moon blast that will knock you out But your Dragonite is only max level 3.

Speaker: and The out... the outreach plus it doesn't knock out altaria hangs on by one hp how would you feel it i never don't get yeah exactly because you you cannot get the full potential out of your pokemon yep Right? You're literally restricted.

Speaker: So hard, like... yeah You can't even walk it out, right? i If you put it in a phone rocker, hypothetically, who would do such a thing? Let's say you put it in a phone rocker. And you get 15 Mega Energy.

Speaker: for three kilometer. Um, Let me try to calculate. 30 kilometer, 150, 300 kilometer. uh 1500s you're gonna need About what?

Speaker: Fif - teen 100 kilometer

Speaker: To almost get to a Mega Dragonite. Yeah. Popping that shit. It's Like, that's not preparation for LAIC. Right? I do agree. um They did give... at least this is september laic is in November.

Speaker: right I would not know right now what I would want to run for LSE. I agree. I'm i'm just saying like there's there's a bit of prep time and I would assume... Fingers crossed, knock on wood, that they probably have at least some implementation or plan in place to.

Speaker: a help people make the most of their Because this this is also a thing. you hope yeah If we want Go to continue to grow, right? I mean, like, can you imagine a new trainer who's like, oh, this is in Sao Paulo. This is the city that ah I live near. I want to go compete.

Speaker: And they don't even have any megas because they... you know just recently started playing the game that's also yeah yeah that's that's that's like ah I actually like the idea that you have to grind a Pokemon out a little bit to get the most out of it. I really do. just have It's the whole training aspect of it, right? like i mean what's the yeah

Speaker: yeah that that's my personal opinion right i know there's a lot of trainers who prefer like rental teams or just handouts and you can go beats it's probably healthier for the competition too but i i like the thought that you have to work a little bit for your pokemon it's just that If you start from scratch, how long would it take to actually get into it? And if you start from scratch, you have zero.

Speaker: of a specific medical energy if that pokemon curly is not in rates you cannot even get one pokemon yeah that's true you cannot even get near that pokemon and i think that's stupid you cannot even trade for it because if you trade a pokemon that once was mega evolved Your it will reset the mega level So you still cannot walk it from Mega Energy. No, yes, and it's not like you could trade a Pokemon that's been like kind of Mega'd a couple times to a friend to help them boost a little bit.

Speaker: yeah yeah exactly oh speaking of friends so uh my best friend Sarah came with to the event. And you're talking about new players. She's recently started playing Go. so she's caught quite a few things but uh her Her Pokemon knowledge is limited and her...

Speaker: Player versus player knowledge is... even less. And so it's actually been really kind of fun to kind of. Disgusting. Well, so she asked, what what would it take? What do I need to do if I actually want to start competing? So this could be like a little fun. We can check in throughout the.

Speaker: year to see if she's actually getting. any closer to building a viable team of six maybe we can get her to compete at one of the the tournaments did you advise her to watch my videos

Speaker: Yeah, that's exactly where I started. Okay. yes Let me let me first and foremost. Speaking of your videos, you you put out a video recently that I noticed is a little bit different than what you've been doing normally. You're kind of talking about a flamingo, ah ah ah also Pokemon that are spawning. Flamigo, actually. like Flamigo. I keep making this mistake as well, by the way, so it's not just you. Flamigo and Flamigo. Yeah, okay. like That's enough.

Speaker: Oh, I lost him. i lost Where did he go? But so. Is this like a new direction that you're going? You're helping people with... pokemon that are currently found at events and if you want to use them if they're pvp viable or The thought behind it is that there are way too many events right now and I want to try and make it a little bit easier for trainers to Whether you're a veteran or new. to just be like, okay, there's an event coming up. Do I care?

Speaker: Do I care about this event? Do I have to go out for it? And if I go, what what am I looking for? it's kind of the purpose of these videos unfortunately i am employed so i am restricted to making

Speaker: uh five minute videos where i put a lot of editing in like i come home from work i spent two hours on making this video and i play one hour runescape and i go to bed and go to work again so That's my day. It's literally my day with these videos. And I'm trying to like work ahead. Maybe I can write a little bit of script at work, like five minutes. But no, work's so busy, I don't get even... five minutes to to work ahead. So it's been kind of a... a struggle sometimes where i'm like okay i'm just gonna close this course Close RuneScape.

Speaker: uh put my phone upside down and now I lock in to finish this video in 30 minutes before I'm trying to put them out for eight. of my 8 p .m local time every day okay well i mean I mean, i everyone should go check out Martijn's channel. We'll put it in the the link below as well. but

Speaker: While we're discussing it, we have a couple events coming up starting September 16th next week, Wednesday. We have the Pokemon Horizons, the series celebration event. Yes. Immediately after that, the week after, we have Fanta. Catch Mastery coming up.

Speaker: Yeah. Well... When why aren are we putting out this so this episode, by the way? I'll edit it tomorrow. I would guess it'll probably go out Monday. okay Maybe we can try to go. shoot for mondays then i will talk about events uh not from tomorrow already because obviously um i'll be putting out a video just about charge out real quick and i think one of the reasons

Speaker: It's just what you need to look for in case Mega Charizard comes out, right? or It's already out. but super It is. so Both of them. Yes exactly. Thank you. But it's it's more like, I, again, want to know how the...

Speaker: the downscaling is going to go. Because if it's fixed IVs, I don't need to look into like IVs for Mega Charizard X. Sure. which is so and i think mega treasure x is a pokemon that's viable maybe not the best is this the dragon or is this the fire yeah it's a dragon it's a dragon one uh like for ultra league especially it could be pretty okay yeah there's there's just these kind of niche things uh that i tried to pick out of some of these events obviously if you have most of the pokemon you're not exactly a shiny hunter then this this is kind of an event that you can skip out on.

Speaker: Yeah. um So I'll just quickly looking through it too. There's going to be some event bonuses. So Kecleon more. chances to encounter it at pokestops so that could also be interesting po you know, and. limited metas is something that could be going on important two times uh catch candy

Speaker: starting tier one and then three times for catching once you if you're on the deluxe pass and then lure modules will last for one hour and additional stardust for catching hatina and watch roll So.

Speaker: Those are the things if you are interested in the in -game events. I... I usually always get the past. just because I like to. have accomplished i i listen i'm like if someone gives me a task i like i i'm like i i'm a completionist i yeah no i feel you I did the same, by the way. Before I got into Pokemon, I was like, I literally have to catch them all. I have a living Pokedex, and I have a lucky living Pokedex.

Speaker: and So a lot of the issues, I've i've got issues is what I'm saying. Yeah, but the Barca is one. hu Yeah. Um, I also saw that there was going to be, ah yeah we talked about these Mega Raid days, the Raptor gets one.

Speaker: Right. so I actually really like these things and what they added lately was that you get like 5k additional stardust from them so if you're poor like me in stardust yeah ah This is great, because in like two hours, you get like half a million.

Speaker: That's a good good deal, especially if you pop a star piece to then you can at least start farming a little bit of that. I know that a lot of PvP players are suffering because, of course, you have to build different Pokemon each season, give them attacks. Then you might find one of even better IVs that works with your team, so then you have to build up a whole new one. That's sometimes my issue, even though I don't even compete that often. i Just wonder if ah if more people like

Speaker: considering how the the ah more influence than the Supermax level is going to have, if more people are going to do these mega rate days as well. Mm. And if they're gonna do reruns, like, are we gonna get a... Garchomp super mega rate day as well now.

Speaker: i would love a bonnet one so i can actually evolved mine. but I've been missing out on all the candy. um Sucks to suck.

Speaker: That's such a good Pokemon, right? Well, I know it's also a cool looking Pokemon. i That I agree. All right. we're We're winding down here for our first relaunch here. But I do want to get back really quickly into the competitive season. I guess we put people on the hook for a really long time because I asked you at the very beginning of the episode what your goals are for. this competitive season for go if you kind of want to I don't know.

Speaker: enlighten everyone. Yeah, I don't know yet. um We're going to get this three versus three thing. And... I'm not going to say I'm not going to. Play it.

Speaker: there's there's There's, I think... um A certain type of player that will probably just go anywhere whenever they can. i am that certain type of player you know you have I don't know out of pocket goes like every regional a mind joke wish you want a little bit more but goes to every regional as well these type of trainings will probably be at world's regard if it's one verse one two verse two ten versus ten they'll be there They'll be there, right?

Speaker: But... um Yeah, the three versus three is a rough topic. It's a very rough topic. It feels... um It feels very... um not thought through.

Speaker: in my opinion. i'm I'm trying to say a bit little bit careful because I am always trying to be very positive. And I want to to sell the idea right i like i like to get people excited for worlds for the competitive season but But I'm not feeling it with this one. because the information We gots.

Speaker: uh since two months it was announced, is that there are designated captains from like top four of ICs. Right, and we we actually just found out this information this week that was released. That's everything we got. top yep For all of the ICs this year, the top four players will become captains of teams, and then they will choose their teammates for Worlds. Then players will be allocated out afterwards. Again, we don't really know all the details of that. It also makes it appear, at least as of now,

Speaker: um that if you... have a top placement at ic you cannot be on the same team as another top player from an ic which sort of makes sense in far as far as like a superstar team right you don't uh maybe want the team of all the ic winners on one and then just absolutely crushing the competition and it doesn't seem like a fun worlds for everyone else. I see you shaking your head. um

Speaker: And also, again, ah a lot of people we we don't know yet. This is still kind of being rolled out slowly to everyone in the community. If you have concerns or questions yourself. Please go ahead and.

Speaker: send in a support ticket. Yeah. Um... ah Respectfully Amanda, I think it's very naive to think there's 12 superstar players in the scene. I think that there's a lot of trainers on the same skill ceiling.

Speaker: And that's why I'm not feeling the designated Captain Singh at all. You think that Batman is going to care about recruiting its accidental rise to occasion, for example? You think that matters? that that that There's no way. Okay, I didn't get either. It's excellent right to occasion. Well, guess I'll go with Yakai or Hiromaru. There's no... this Absolutely.

Speaker: It just feels like there's no thought. process in it and it also feels like you're punishing yourself web by being top four. What if I want to pair with Marto? Um, I guess I got to go top five LASC now.

Speaker: that what That doesn't make sense. yeah It doesn't make sense at all. I understand. I mean, I do think maybe there's a possibility you can also... just say you don't want a captain, right? And that that could potentially cascade down or then you're put back into ah the regular pool of players. Again, this is...

Speaker: unfortunately too soon in the season to have information about this, which I agree. I really wish we had a little bit more clarification. Hopefully that's coming down the pipeline soon. um Yeah. But as far as the rest of the competitive season, we briefly brought it up, but we're starting off in September in Baltimore. It's going to be the very, very first competition. It will be streamed.

Speaker: on you know Twitch and YouTube. slash pokemon go september 18th through the 20th And Martijn, I was wondering if you would like... to play a game with me it's going to be a recurring segment i think on our tap tap cast Oh boy. So.

Speaker: At the end of last season, Caleb invited me on his podcast and we kind of. Overall, as a brainstorming group came up with

Speaker: The best players, you know, we've kind of tiered them out to tier one, two, and three that we thought we're going to have a good chance at Worlds. I'm wondering if you want to do a little bit something different with me where we're going to draft. The worst player. Martijn on the team. no we're go we're gonna Throughout the season, we're going to draft players to our team. So we'll have Team Amanda and we'll have Team...

Speaker: More time? And then if they do well at a tournament, we'll give each other points. We can decide the point system throughout. um And each week. that we do the podcast, we'll pick a new player.

Speaker: for our teams now there's two small caveats you can't choose yourself and i can't choose you either okay because you're not even counting yourself yeah like yeah You can choose me, but I won't either.

Speaker: And then each week we'll also have. um a special band that's given to us by a selected player or caster or someone in the community i went ahead and asked our fellow co -caster, Lou the Pikachu, who casted her first ever worlds. this year for Pokemon Go, and she has. banned us this week.

Speaker: from picking Pato Man.

Speaker: Hi Amanda, hi Martijn. I don't think it comes as a surprise that the trainer I'm going to ban from your draft is going to be Pataman. He's a trainer who I personally think is the greatest trainer of all time. He has incredible records to his name, back -to -back EUIC titles, second in the world, for example, alongside a host of regional and special event victories. I think his playstyle and his legacy as a young trainer growing up within the game and growing up within life as well is something that's an incredible inspiration point. So...

Speaker: Panaman's the GOAT. You can't draft him this week. Wait, I cannot pick Batman ever? No, this at least for this week. Okay, but this week is Baltimore, so I'm okay with that. Yeah, this week is Baltimore, so... I will not pick Batman.

Speaker: Yeah, I don't know exactly who's going, so that that makes it a little bit tough. how many Well, see, that's also the thing. We don't know for sure who's going to whoever's on the team is on your team for the season. Final question. Wait, yes for the whole season? Yep.

Speaker: And then as we continue to round out our bench, maybe we'll figure out like, okay, so you can only have six active or something, you know, like we'll, we'll, we'll figure it out. but but i thought this week. for this regional For this week, we can only pick one trainer.

Speaker: And this trainer is on our team for this 2027 competitive season. Oh, I thought it was a prediction for Baltimore. No, so if you pick Elam, Elam's on your team for the season.

Speaker: And I can't pick Elam then. you know So if Elam does continually well throughout the season, you're going to continue to rack up points in our draft. Does the region matter? No, it doesn't matter. If you don't pick NA to start with, you're just maybe at a small disadvantage because NA is the first.

Speaker: thing of the season. Yeah, but If you were like, man, no, I really want to lock in this person because I think Amanda's going to lock them in later and cut me out then. I have a name already. All right. I'm going to do a coin flipper real quick.

Speaker: generator. If it's tails. It's going to be you. And if it's heads, it's going to be me. And you're just going to have to trust me. what the Oh no. Flip.

Speaker: It's heads. Which is you. It switches me. The Audi coincidence. Oh, I knew it. All right, go ahead. All right, I am going to go with...

Speaker: I swear, if you pick the person I... was thinking of.

Speaker: Rise to occasion. You're good. Okay. Now I can pick? Yep. I go with Marto Galdi. Martel Gaudi, okay!

Speaker: So, let's just recap for everyone. lou told us we couldn't pick Pataman. Pataman was arguably also, i would I would say he was the best. trainer of last season as a whole.

Speaker: ah He was... just on fire for international championships. I think he was probably on a lot of people's radars to win Worlds. He got... Pretty close, I think.

Speaker: uh top 17. top seven yeah let me just quickly look up his last uh my next opponent if i beat pockets and he had a about the same team so i would have lost those Ha! Rise, my pick didn't do. Ugh.

Speaker: The best at worlds. I don't change anymore. Oh. I just think that he's like consistently probably one of the best. players and so He seems to win a regional every season. So I haven't.

Speaker: As a good pick to lock in to at least get some points because they'll probably win a regional this season. And that's my reasoning behind. And you have chosen Marto Galdi. which makes me believe you've had some discussion with him and that you think that he is going to be in Baltimore. I think he's washed.

Speaker: And he's gonna win because of that he's gonna be like dude I suck Give me a team. And then he takes like a team from... like a like a b -tier team from pocket that he's like convincing people to that he's running and then he's not running it and then martha wins with that that's what's gonna happen okay well i'll tell you pocket was my second consideration Yeah, I'll pick him next time. for yeah well We'll see. We'll see. you we'll see but uh for the record so far and the bands will change next week and um

Speaker: We can probably... already Who do you think we should ask for the ban? for next week to try to keep it fair. Leo! We'll ask gal Leo. Okay. I like Leo. He cuts the Yu -Gi -Oh rules. He's a big guy. Yeah, true, true, true. Okay, Leo will be our next person that will pick a band for the following time that we are doing the podcast. So I think that's all we got for this one, unless you have any last thoughts, Martin.

Speaker: Um... let's Let's get a little bit more into that three verse three format next time. I have more yeah controversial thoughts, maybe. Well, i'd love honestly, I'd love to get into them. And what I'm hoping, too, is by that point, we might at least even have a little bit more.

Speaker: Clarity of ah what the... what it will all entail maybe then i can be happy again well it takes a lot i know yeah there's a wheedle spotlight hour coming up soon that i that i do need to go I want to go for. I'm a mega beach roll. All right. so We'll get ah get it going. Controversial topics will be for later.

Speaker: Sounds good. Maybe we'll have a... tea segment. we'll We'll have to figure it out. what this like This is a whole new podcast, baby. we ah we We're bringing on all the controversy. So you guys aren't going to want to miss out.
