Nashville Hosting Big Events

00:03:33
Speaker
Hello, I'm doing great, how's everyone doing? Hope everyone is having a terrific day.
00:03:41
Speaker
Everybody in the sports world is right now. We got two awesome games going on. Game seven, NHL, Buffalo, Sabres, Montreal, Canadians. Montreal is up two to one over Buffalo in Buffalo. And then,
00:03:59
Speaker
In Oklahoma City, San Antonio is currently up 44-41 over the Oklahoma City Thunder with 2 minutes and 42 seconds left in the first half there. So, update there quickly on our games before we move on to other news and we get into the playoffs and all that good stuff. But first...
00:04:21
Speaker
We'll be right back. some very exciting news that hasn't gotten out to the public yet but is here in nashville pretty much already confirmed is that nashville will be hosting It was rumored last week that they would be hosting WrestleMania in 2028, and that was confirmed. And now it has been confirmed that the new Nashville Titan Stadium in 2030 will be hosting the Super Bowl.
00:04:57
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Yeah, I heard that earlier. Woo. Yes, I cannot wait. That means the Super Bowl will be 100 yards from my house over the river, over the pedestrian bridge. It is going to be an amazing time. I am super excited. At one point, I thought I was going to leave Nashville, but now that I've been here for 10 years, almost, wow, 10 years, yeah, this coming November, I can't believe it that I've been here so long. But now that I have, there's no point in leaving now when they have these type of events coming.
00:05:27
Speaker
actually had a ah call from the Titans earlier today from the front office guy reaching out to me because I had put some interest in into learning more about the, not necessarily about the new stadium, but just about the events and stuff. So ah I'm going to reach out to him and see if I can help them, you know, cover some of their future upcoming events. But yeah, super exciting news here in Nashville for sure that we are going to get the Super Bowl. I'm so excited. I've never seen the Super Bowl before.
00:05:57
Speaker
So I know I'm definitely going to go to that one since I'll be here. um Obviously, it's it's usually not only the hefty cost, but also, ah you know, having to fly out to a different place because they wouldn't have it here.
00:06:08
Speaker
So now that gives me more of a reason, although they were having it a bunch in Vegas. So I guess that doesn't really matter because I could have just gone to Vegas to the Raiders Stadium, which, by the way, was amazing for WrestleMania as a great segue. How do you feel about the Super Bowl coming to Nashville?
00:06:20
Speaker
Oh, that's awesome, man. I mean, Nashville is a party town, so you know I'm sure that that place is just going to be crazy you know for that type of ah you know an event. So yeah, um yeah I'm going to be there myself.
00:06:33
Speaker
Yes. Yes. Yes, you will. Speaking of, that was the other idea i meant to call you about, but ah ah may want to come down for your birthday at the end of the month if you ain't got nothing going on, because that'll probably be the last chance you will have to come to Nashville this year.
00:06:49
Speaker
Because remember, I got a bunch of trips the rest of the year. So I was just thinking about that. If you wanted to visit Nashville, this is probably going to be your only time. So just putting that bug in your ear, you think about that. All right. But anyways, he will be here for the Super Bowl. That is for sure.
00:07:05
Speaker
All right cool. ah Let's keep it moving. NBA in the basketball world.

NBA MVP Discussion and Playoff Analysis

00:07:14
Speaker
Shea Gilgis Alexander SGA was named the National Basketball Association's MVP in what was supposed to be A fairly, ah you know, tight race, even basketball reference had the MVP race as a race for, well, had Jokic in the lead at the end of the season because Jokic had had a good game. We talked about this on my m NBA show. had a good game and beat the Thunder SGA towards the end of the season. So the favorite was Jokic, but no, no.
00:07:50
Speaker
Turns out it was SGA getting his second straight back to back ah after Jokic did it back in 21, 22. He becomes only player in history to win more two or more MVPs multiple, and the 14th player in NBA history to win consecutive MVPs, which, if any of you marks out there are good at math, which I know you're not as good as me and my pops are at the mathematics, that would tell you
00:08:23
Speaker
that 14 out of those 16 players won back-to-back MVPs. So if you win multiple and MVPs in this league, you're usually winning it back-to-back because it seems like the voters in the NBA tend to either vote that way or it's more likely that someone has an has a extended good period of time like Jokic has had the past five years or or Michael Jordan had for seven years or something like that and then you are then voted the MVP. So there it is. What did you think about Shea Gilgis Alexander being voted the MVP?
00:09:02
Speaker
I mean, I think he's well deserving of it. um You know, the guy is just, you know, a tremendous player. um You know, he's the spark plug of that team for sure. So, ah you know, they're going to be hard to beat, you know, in this playoff. So,
00:09:19
Speaker
I know that you said earlier that San Antonio was leading the game, but, you know, it's size it's not a sprint. It's a marathon. So we'll see what happens. No, you're completely right about that. That's a great point. And we will talk about that Wednesday on our and NBA show when we go through these conference finals. But, yes, um the Thunder are a great team. And when we were picking our NBA MVP picks,
00:09:43
Speaker
I picked SGA because of that, because of the team's success. And I know, yes, he does have other players on his team. Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Luann Dort, a bunch of other players that are very, very good.
00:09:58
Speaker
um ah You know, Caruso. Is Williams back? I'm just saying in general. I'm just talking about the roster of people that he has on his team that have allowed him to have a good team over the past few years. But that doesn't take away from the fact that he is still a very efficient and great scorer.
00:10:18
Speaker
And even though Jokic, yes, for the first time in history as a center, led the league and in rebounds and assists, which is, and by all means, very impressive.
00:10:30
Speaker
SGA was one of the most efficient scorers of all time. And a lot of his team, as my pops just mentioned with the Jalen Williams was injured. They had the third for your sports professors, a fact for this game, they had the third most injury minutes in the NBA this past season. So SGA was, as you mentioned, pops, the driver of this train.
00:10:56
Speaker
the the vote The voters did agree. He received 83 of 100 first place votes, finishing with 939 overall to Jokic 634. So that is an ass whooping in terms of voting in MVP. I thought it would have been much, much closer than that.
00:11:13
Speaker
And then when Benyama come in third or came in third, excuse me. pause on that 569 points for Wim Banyama there coming in third so uh you know as you mentioned history made by SGA going back to back after Jokic did a couple years ago we'll see if he can be one of those that have gone for three MVPs now pops uh I got I got a little question for you here and I want to see how you do with this one uh
00:11:48
Speaker
Can you name the three NBA players in history that have won three MVP awards?
00:12:01
Speaker
I have a good shot. i think I think you got a good shot at this. That's all I'll say. Oh, wow. I think you got a very good shot. Three total? Yes, and I'm giving you a hint, but I think a very good Larry Bird. hey Hey! Our man, Larry.
00:12:14
Speaker
Larry Joe Bird, baby. The hick from French Lick, baby. Yes, that is... Magic Johnson?
00:12:25
Speaker
No? Let me give you the Dikembe Motombo. Oh, no, no, no, no. No, no that's okay, though. That's a good guess. That's a good guess. Let's strike one What you got? All right. Uh...
00:12:40
Speaker
Dan Karima do Javar. Oh, no, no, no, no. That's strike number two. I'm going to give you a hint. Okay.
00:12:52
Speaker
First of all, this should be very easy for you because you should be able to at least name two of them. Hint, hint, hint. One of those is bird. Okay. Who would be the other one?
00:13:06
Speaker
Thinking of your own favorite team. Oh, wow. um really There can only be one other one. Come on. Man, you got me on this one. No.
00:13:18
Speaker
There's only one other guy on the Celtics that could have won three MVPs.
00:13:25
Speaker
You got to think back. Come on. Oh, wow. I know you're not losing. You need some fish oil. You need some vitamins. I know you ain't losing it that bad. Bill Russell.
00:13:36
Speaker
Bill Russell. Bill Russell. Okay. Okay. And and then the last one is Wilt Chamberlain. well You were close. You were close. You were close. I thought you would have got Russell for sure. I'm surprised you didn't get Russell.
00:13:51
Speaker
Oh, well. That's right. We'll see what happens there. All right. Moving on. don't have the expertise that you have, Professor. No, no, no. But I thought you would have got Russell just because of Celtics. I thought you would have. Yeah, I got you. Got the hint I was giving you there.
00:14:05
Speaker
No, no, no. Of course, there's many players. thought Maddie Johnson is tremendous guest, to be honest. All right, let's move it on. Let's look at the brackets. Let's update you here on those brackets. Yes, indeed. So you'll see we do have going on right now at halftime. The Spurs are leading the Thunder. They extended that lead. We talked about 51-44 now.
00:14:24
Speaker
They're up seven at halftime. Alex Caruso has 16 points at the half. On the other side of things, the Cleveland Cavaliers blowed out.
00:14:38
Speaker
as Wilbon will say, shout out to Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser. The Pistons, who had a tremendous season all season long, but unfortunately in game seven, withered to the more experienced Cleveland team.
00:14:55
Speaker
On the other side the East, the New York Knickerbockers, holy cannolis, absolutely demolished the The Sixers, the fake-ass Sixers, I knew they were fake. i knew we I knew we choked away that series. I knew the Celtics choked away that series. I knew we did because the Sixers just โ€“ I think what happened with the Celtics, and we'll get to this in a second, but mostly I think it was Embiid came back and it messed us up because we weren't able to kind of deal with it and we just choked it away. No excuses, but the Sixers just aren't a good team and they proved it against the Knicks who, I mean โ€“
00:15:34
Speaker
Blew him out, swept him for nothing. What do you think? Yeah, we had no answer for Embiid. So, I mean. um it's That's been our problem all season was the big man. but Yeah, I know. Hopefully something that, you know, Brad Stevens will address in this offseason. You know, we definitely need some help in that area.
00:15:56
Speaker
mom They're saying possibly Giannis, so you never know, maybe. Yeah. Yeah, well, we're going to have to part company with someone, right? If we if we go that way. We can't we can' keep all this all this huge payroll. i ah I mean, yeah, I guess you're right. But I did come up with a little bit of a... Let me see if I got it here.
00:16:17
Speaker
Where is it? think it's here at the end What do you have? You have a trade machine. I did a trade machine. Oh, I'm covering it up. I can't do it right now because I'm covering it up. Anyways, I did a little trade machine action and...
00:16:32
Speaker
And I traded everybody except I i kept Jalen Brown, I kept JT, I kept Peyton Pritchard, and I kept Keita, and I kept ah um Jordan Walsh. And I traded everyone else on the roster, and I gave them two first and two second round picks. So they get they get Derek White as their centerpiece and two first round picks as the other, which, you know, could be could be pretty decent. not Not really, but... Two first, two second, Derek White, Sam Houser, and a bunch of other guys. What do you think about that?
00:17:07
Speaker
Oh, my God. Do you think the Bucs will accept my trade? You're giving away the whole team, man. Well, we can sign a bunch. With that starting five, you just signed a bunch of nobodies to fill out the roster. Who cares?
00:17:22
Speaker
People that can run up and down the court for a few minutes a game. There's something to be said about, you know, the chemistry in the team.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Proposal, Humorous

00:17:30
Speaker
You know, if you break, you know, some of those key pieces away from it.
00:17:36
Speaker
you know, I mean, bringing somebody, yeah, I know Giannis is a yeah a tremendous talent, but, on you know, you gotta look at the other players that are going to be around him, right? So, I mean, how is that going to work out?
00:17:48
Speaker
There's only so many basketballs, you know, he's ah you know he's ah he's a basketball dominant, you know, kind of player, you know, he, and also you know, you know, Tatum, you know, I mean,
00:18:00
Speaker
JB or you know if we keep them. I mean, there's only so many yeah so many opportunities to have the ball in your hands. well I don't know. yeah I couldn't read it.
00:18:17
Speaker
I'd like to see what was that proposal. you know I'm on my phone. but you know I'm not going to be able to read it. but I'd like to see that you know later on. I'm going to...
00:18:27
Speaker
Go ahead and zoom in on it and, you know, take a look at it. well we're going to zoom on in a little bit here for the people at home. If you can't see it at home, let me put this in the slideshow mode.
00:18:40
Speaker
Boom. You can see i have traded Giannis Antetokounmpo and I have given back Derek White, Sam Hauser, Hugo Gonzalez, bay Baylor Shireman, Luke Garza, and Jordan Walsh. I don't know. Oh my God.
00:18:55
Speaker
Now. You gave up all of our picks from last year, huh? Yes, everybody's gone. Again, the only ones we keep is backup center in Keita, Poronti Takumpo, and Peyton Pritchard.
00:19:09
Speaker
as ah as a back, as our starting point guard. Everybody else is gone. And then you got Giannis, Peyton Pritchard, Keita, JT, and JB as your starting five. And then you have absolutely nobody on the bench. You're going to have to keep but Ron Harper Jr. but But the center has been, ah you know, our Achilles heel right now, right? So, ah and and you're talking about Keita being the... ah The starting center, right?
00:19:36
Speaker
Well, the reason they're talking about bringing Giannis in and trading JB is because Giannis will bring rim protection, apparently. So if you have two rim protectors in an alley, now you only got to worry about it. Okay. Right? You know what I mean? I mean, I mean i don't i don't actually think the Bucs would ever accept this trade, but I would be very happy if they did. It would also be the craziest experiment in the NBA history.
00:20:00
Speaker
That definitely is kind of crazy, but it's all good. Who knows? Maybe they can accept it. You know, I don't know. I mean, if you did, you just definitely but run a bunch of two-way players at the end of the bench. Ron Harper Jr. was great. You keep him.
00:20:14
Speaker
You keep those young players that are really good and hustle. And that's really all you need if you got that starting five, in my opinion. All right. So, anyways. All alright cool. Just wanted to show that.
00:20:25
Speaker
I hope Hot Take Jake's not watching to use that against him tomorrow in our a Total Evisceration segment. But let me bring him back up. and NBA playoffs.

Playoff Predictions and Team Chances

00:20:34
Speaker
All right. So who's got, who is your pick to come out the West and who is your pick to come out the East?
00:20:41
Speaker
um Well, out of the East, I think I'm going to go with the Cleveland Cavaliers. I know that the the Knicks, you know, have been playing some really good basketball, but you know, they've been out there sitting around waiting for a while and,
00:21:00
Speaker
You know, the the Cavaliers, you know, just just came out of a tough series. So I'm thinking that they'll keep that momentum going, take that first game, you know, in New York.
00:21:11
Speaker
And we'll see. But I'd like them to come out. and i think it's going to be a seven-game series. And out of the West, wow.
00:21:22
Speaker
um I mean, it's just hard to hard to beat, you know, to bet against the โ€“ the The Oklahoma City, you know, Thunder. You know, I think I'm just going to go with the Thunder out of the West.
00:21:35
Speaker
Very interesting on the East. I agree with you on the West. Hard to go against the Thunder. Although, you know, when you got Wimbayama, he can pretty much change anything. But I also think he's a little too young now. I think the Thunder have the more experience, obviously, as the championship.
00:21:52
Speaker
defending champion right now. So I do think that the Thunder will take care of business. I think that will definitely go to a seven-game series. I do not know that I agree with you. don't agree with you on the Cleveland Cavaliers-Knicks. I don't think that'll go seven games, and I don't think that the Cavs will win.
00:22:09
Speaker
I, for some reason, just think this is the Knickerbockers' year. And... and To be completely honest, not to pat my own back and extol the virtues of why everybody calls me the sports professor, but I did pick the Oklahoma City Thunder versus the New York Knickerbockers at the beginning of the season, before the season started.
00:22:34
Speaker
Oh, wow. Nice. Yes, I did. So I will have to stick with my pick of the Knicks. And that could definitely happen. I mean, like I said, the Knicks were, you know, they've been playing some really great basketball in the postseason. stuff and They really have. for me I'm excited to see what everybody says on Wednesday about this when we get the boys in. Y'all check us out. a Eastern NBA show. Be myself, Bobby G from the Audible Sports Podcast. And I'll have my two brothers from 19 Media Group. Desmond Powell from the Mid-Post Podcast. And my brother,
00:23:11
Speaker
Cal Lee from the baseline and NBA podcast. So check us out Wednesday at eight Eastern. We'll be talking all of the conference finals, finals action. So I'm excited to see what my boys got to say about that, but I do think it will be the Knicks and thunder as well. And I do have the thunder as my champion all year long. I said they will repeat. So I'll go ahead and go with that again. Who do you have as your champion?
00:23:37
Speaker
I'm going to go with the, okay. See, they're going to repeat. Okay. Yep. Yep. At Trax, that's about right. That's exactly what I think. All right. They're coming into the second half right now.
00:23:48
Speaker
And yes, to answer your question, Jalen Williams is playing in the game and he has 28 points along with Caruso, which means he has 12 because Caruso has 16 and the rest of the team has 16. So Caruso and Jalen Williams are your leaders at the point in the clubhouse.
00:24:05
Speaker
All right. Cool, moving on.

NBA Playoff Power Rankings and Betting

00:24:09
Speaker
There's your power rankings for these playoffs. Again, the Thunder are the top ranked team, the betting favorite going into this. Surprisingly, the Knicks, they come in at a 300 betting favorite over the New York Knicks who are at 550.
00:24:25
Speaker
So you're looking at the Thunder and Spurs being voted the best team by all of the betting public, not the betting betting public, but the betting experts, excuse me, there in Vegas.
00:24:35
Speaker
And the Cavaliers, they have it's a huge long shot at 2,000. So no one really has faith in the Cavaliers, which is why I was kind of surprised by your pick. But that would be impressive if you got it correct.
00:24:47
Speaker
One thing I do want to point out is I always talk about net ratings in this sort of thing. You'll look at the fact that the Spurs are the only one in the top five um um of rating and pace.
00:25:04
Speaker
as well. So you'll now in the playoffs, the game slows down. So pace doesn't matter necessarily as much, but I point that out because Wemby being as long as he is, can get down the court very quickly. And that ball can move very quickly with the Spurs with his length is why I bring that up.
00:25:20
Speaker
But again, when you're looking at it, those those top three are are kind of the leaders in the clubhouse. All right, let's move it on.

Stanley Cup Playoffs Update

00:25:28
Speaker
Stanley Cup playoffs going on right now. As I had mentioned, let me get us a score update on that. But already in the West, we have set up starting tomorrow the Colorado, think it's tomorrow, maybe Wednesday, the Colorado Avalanche.
00:25:44
Speaker
who were the number one team all year long in the NHL, going up against the Vegas Golden Knights, who I was very surprised. Here's your sports professor stat for the Vegas Knights. Did you know that since their inception nine years ago, they've made it to the conference finals, not the playoffs, the conference finals as an expansion team, five out of their nine seasons.
00:26:11
Speaker
Oh, wow. As an expansion team to the conference finals, that means you're one of the two, four best teams in the league, five out of your first nine years. Now, hockey, they do better by their teams and expansion. They allow them to get better players than other leagues do, but still, it's still an accomplishment.
00:26:30
Speaker
in and of itself. That being said, right now, in the it's a tie game in the third period. Game 7, 2-2 Montreal at Buffalo to see who goes on to the Stanley Cup. First of all, um go ahead and give give us your thoughts. Who do you think going to win the game tonight? Again, it's tied up 2-2. Buffalo and Montreal. go ahead and give us a winner.
00:26:54
Speaker
Oh, my God, man. You know, I haven't been following. It doesn't really matter. I'm not following hockey. It doesn't matter. Let's see. um So who is playing now? Montreal and who?
00:27:05
Speaker
Buffalo? Montreal and Buffalo. 2-2 in the third period. Going to the end the game. Montreal and Buffalo. And this is the first game of the conference finals? No, this is game seven of the Divisional still. Oh, game seven.
00:27:17
Speaker
To go to the conference final? No, to to the Stanley Cup. Oh, to the Stanley Cup. Wow. yeah Yeah, yeah. Okay. Wow. they're that That far? Okay. um I'm going to go to the, you know, with the Canadians. The The Canadians. All right.
00:27:34
Speaker
There you go. And so the Canadians, that is... a that's That's a great pick because they were um you know one of the top teams in the East, as was Buffalo, though. I'm going to go with Buffalo just because they're at home.
00:27:48
Speaker
That's the only reason. But I'm keeping an eye on this game for us, so we'll check it out. But Carolina, also the other team there, they were not as good as necessary. Well, obviously, Buffalo was the number one seed.
00:27:59
Speaker
Canadian is number three. And the Canes were number two. So all great teams there. um So go ahead, just give us some picks here. I know you don't really follow, haven't been following hockey until get to the playoffs. Give us your pick. I got the Avalanche over Vegas, and I've got the the winner of this game over the Canes, no matter who wins.
00:28:22
Speaker
Well, I've been hearing all you know all season long that the ah Colorado team is you know is the team to beat. Yes, yes. ah I mean, I don't really, again, I haven't been following it too much.
00:28:36
Speaker
So I'm just going to go with with Colorado to win it all. There you go. You probably heard it from me. Colorado, I've been following them all season long, and I am picking them as well to win over ah the winner of this game tonight. I think we'll actually beat the Canes, so we will see. I will keep you updated as we move on. MLB Power Rankings. This comes from MLB.com, and you'll know that because you know I would never put the Atlanta fake baseball team, get a new name, right?
00:29:10
Speaker
We don't have time for this.

MLB Power Rankings and Mets Struggles

00:29:12
Speaker
Anyways, I would never put them number one, but they are. ah So number one. Oh, shout out to Hot Take. Says, crazy. I have now seen your father and mother. They look wonderful. What the hell happened to you? All right. You know what, brother? It's a big F for you right here. You see that? That's that's for you, okay? And tomorrow when I whoop that ass on total evisceration, I'm going to give you a good ass whooping. Shout out to Hot Take, Jake.
00:29:40
Speaker
um Don't give into this crap. Anyways, going back to our and MLB power rankings, the Braves at number one, 30 and 16. They've got the best record in the league. They are on fire this year with the healthy Ronald Acuna Jr. The Dodgers, 29 and 17. Yes, the the the new evil empire, the Dodgers, 29 and 17. The Cubs there, number three, 28 and 18. Pete Crow Armstrong, we still miss you at the Mets.
00:30:09
Speaker
Going to number four, the Tampa Bay Rays. What a great year they are having. But you know what? I was thinking about this the other day when I was monitoring the AL East to see who had a better record.
00:30:21
Speaker
And it had the Rays right above the Yankees. And I just thought to myself, man, for so for a team that has a low-budget payroll, pretty much, for in terms of people that are playoff teams,
00:30:32
Speaker
Every year, year in and year out, their front office is exceptional because they always make the playoffs. And to have this great of a record with a you know payroll that you do just shows that the front office knows what they're doing. So kudos to them. And then the Yankees at number five, the fucking Skankies at hot Jake Jake Skankies at number five, 26 and 19. What do you got? What do you got on this power rankings here, Pops?
00:31:00
Speaker
Uh, you know, noticed that the Mets are not on it. What happened? a Ah, damn our Mets. Damn it. Our Mets suck. Although, yeah we had we are six and four in the last ten.
00:31:14
Speaker
hey maybe it's turning around. Hey, i'm you know what? Don't start. Don't get started. i Don't get started on that. But, uh, Yeah, I mean, you know, you know obviously the Atlanta Braves, again, you know, are are you know up there leading the NLEs.
00:31:34
Speaker
ah The Dodgers, yeah, you know, what the heck, they've been good, you know, forever. So I'm not surprised about all the Cubs, you know, over the last couple years, you know, they have made a lot of ah lot of improvements.
00:31:47
Speaker
And like you said, Tampa Bay, I mean, with a low budget, you know, they they they always seem to be, you know, in the hunt. So, and, you know, of course the Yankees, you know, they're, you know, they're big spenders just like the Mets, but we just can't buy any, you know, World Series. so Yeah. So the Mets, let's get to our Mets. Obviously, look, I mean, i i said the season was over a couple weeks ago on the baseball show. Obviously, I was being a little facetious since there's a long season, 162 games in baseball, but
00:32:21
Speaker
To be completely honest, before this you know winning that we've done, we've now won two series in a row against the Yankees in Colorado. Like i said, so we here right we're six and four in the last 10. But this is the thing.
00:32:37
Speaker
The rest of our division, aside from Atlanta, sucks. So technically, even though we are last and we've sucked all year long, you know who's in second place? The Phillies.
00:32:48
Speaker
And they're only three and a half games above us. So a quick winning streak, two more series, and we could be in second place of the NL East, as crazy as that is. Well, you know, just a few years back, everybody left us for dead, you know, at the end of May.
00:33:04
Speaker
Then we went into the hot run, made it to the NLCS, We lost to the eventual you know champions. but so you know Anything can happen. I'm not going to say it's going to happen. but you know I was looking into some stuff earlier. and you know I've been complaining about our pitching, but surprisingly, we have a 3.52 ERA, which is like eighth in MLB and fifth in the NL.
00:33:32
Speaker
so I was really surprised you know when I saw that stat. Again, but you know again you know we're just We're just not hitting hot and cold. you know Sometimes we get you know enough runs to win the game and sometimes we just don't just score any runs.
00:33:50
Speaker
Gotta score runs to win.
00:33:54
Speaker
no you're completely right. You gotta score runs to win. Our offense has been Absolutely horrible all year long. You know, first it started out, Juan Soto actually started the year really hot and then has gone into a slump the past few weeks. And and you had him hurt for that little bit of time. Then when he came back, Lindor got hurt.
00:34:13
Speaker
So then you've had your best players hurt pretty much all season long. Your free agents who you signed, Bobachet and the rest of these jabronis, haven't done anything i commensurate with their contract. They all need to get the hell up out of here. But You know, and you're right, the pitching has done okay.
00:34:30
Speaker
I think that's more as a testament to the bullpen, to be completely honest. But it doesn't matter because Clay Holmes, our best pitcher, just got his leg broken. He's out for the season. Sean Mania can't even come back well. Kodai Senga, they put an APB out on his ass because I don't know where the hell he went.
00:34:48
Speaker
I bought a jersey before the year and we ain't seen them. I can't even wear the jersey. No, actually, I wear it everywhere because it's in Japanese and it's awesome. But that's not the point. So... so i do I do think that injury has befailed us, and I do think that bad performance has befailed us. But I do also think if the performance, especially the hitting, can turn around and we can scrape by with some pitching, they can turn that into a wild card. There's plenty of time.
00:35:18
Speaker
Yeah, I don't expect us to win the division by any means. Oh, hell no. Atlanta has that locked up. I think Atlanta has that locked up. That's the real reach. Yes.
00:35:28
Speaker
But i later has been luck yeah I just, you know, it's a lot of games left. So we'll see. You you know, why you know ah just as good as we lost 12 games in a row, you know, maybe we can go on a 12 game in a winning streak. So you just never know.
00:35:48
Speaker
All right, well, to give you an update here on the game, San Antonio is now up only 4, 62-58, 627 left in the third court a quarter. SGA just fouls Stephon Castle. Stephon Castle to go to the line here, up 4, again, San Antonio, 627 left there in the third. And to update you on the hockey game, it is still tied 7 minutes and seconds the third quarter Right now, buffalo or Montreal excuse me has the puck down in Buffalo's ice. No power play right now. Buffalo is leading in shots, though, 31-20. And I do want to give my sports professor stat for this hockey game. 7. Montreal is 16-9.
00:36:35
Speaker
in game sevens including the win last round while buffalo is only one and six in game seven so but buffalo is at home so again we'll see what happens there i'll keep you updated i got both games up here on the screen but for now let's move it into the nfl the nfl released their schedule last week and boy oh boy do we have some exciting information because ball and buds The Papi and the Professor, the Fonseca's, will be joining our brothers from the, from the ah do they them the Bricks crew? I don't even know.
00:37:16
Speaker
And we will be going to Brazil. Yeah. la ra yeah Yes, and awesome we are going to Brazil, baby. Ball and Buds will be in Brazil for the Cowboys-Ravens game at the end of September. You can catch me and my pops there with some of our friends going to see the Cowboys and Ravens and some ah beautiful Latina women in my eyes is what I'm going for. But that's neither here nor there.
00:37:50
Speaker
ah That's just some exciting information. Also, other notes. I will not be in Vegas for the Miami game, unfortunately. Big Rube will not be able to go.
00:38:01
Speaker
ah Early congrats on his anniversary to him, and his lovely wife, so he won't be able to go. But... I am hoping to add on a couple of more NFL trips with some of my boys from the Air Force, my roommate, Hip Hop. First of all, he's a Seahawks fan.
00:38:18
Speaker
They play in November, so I'm thinking about going out to Seattle. I've never been. Catch a game there. And my brother, Sergi. I know you'll remember Sergi for sure. He is a Arizona fan, and we play them after the new year on the third. So I'm thinking if I'm in Puerto Rico, I may fly back to Arizona and go catch the game with him before flying back to Nashville.
00:38:39
Speaker
So you can catch me probably in those other spots. I'm trying to go as many places as possible this season, getting my NFL stadium tour out of the way. 2-2 still there in the third, 5-17 left in the NHL game, 64-60.
00:38:54
Speaker
Thunder over Spurs in the NBA game, 5-44 there left. All right. where' Where's the NBA game? and i mean It is on Peacock.
00:39:05
Speaker
peacock Oh, Peacock. For all the fragmentated viewers out there that don't know where it is because the NBA decided to put This is way too much fragmentation for me. That's crazy. I get during the season. That's fine. You want to have a bunch of broadcast partners. But during ah the playoffs, it should be one broadcast partner has a whole series. You shouldn't be doing this back and forth with It sucks either way, man.
00:39:31
Speaker
For the fans. Well, i'd be I'd be okay if you said, okay, the first round goes to pee ho Peacock, second to Prime, third to ESPN, last to Peacock because they get the finals. I'd be okay with that. But when I got to go from Prime to Peacock and every day, i don't know. And I know because I'm the one that put it on my damn show where they're at every day and I still can't remember. And I'm the one that told the damn of people I still can't remember.
00:39:52
Speaker
So it's like that's that's hard because the other day I'm looking around for a playoff game. I'm like, man, is it on Prime? Is it on Peacock? Is it on ESPN? I'm having to look for all the channels. That's very frustrating. Very frustrating, NBA. Change that, please.

NFL Schedule Highlights and International Games

00:40:05
Speaker
That's your sports professors. ah What you should do there. Very frustrating for all sports leagues, man. They're all going to the streaming, you know, so.
00:40:18
Speaker
Yes. Yep. They all go into streaming. They're trying to get as much money as possible from all of the different broadcast partners. And again, when you've got that many, ah you know, hands in the cookie jar, so to speak, well, then, you know, you're going to be able to, I guess, fragment the viewing as much as possible.
00:40:36
Speaker
Anyways. All right, let's keep it moving. As we mentioned, the NFL released their schedule. So just, To give you a little bit of an update on that, I'm going to just go through some of the main games that they have here that they released. So first of all,
00:40:53
Speaker
I want to give you โ€“ actually, you know what? Let's start with the top 10 primetime games per the NFL.com. So you've got the rematch of the Super Bowl week one.
00:41:06
Speaker
They are not playing around. The first game they are going to give us, opening game, Wednesday too. They ain't even playing. They're not even waiting until Thursday. The NFL just doesn't care anymore. you Forget injuries. Forget CTE, whatever other nonsense they try to say about player safety. they are moving to a league very quickly that will be playing every day of the week at some point in time i don't know how how but at some point they will be playing mondays and tuesdays too i'm for sure but here we go too much football sorry well i don't know i've never said that sorry i'll take football every day but for the players playing
00:41:43
Speaker
They don't need that because of ah for me personally, I watch football every day, so it don't matter me. But yes, I agree with you for the players. But they are giving us a Super Bowl rematch, New England-Seattle, opening night Wednesday, September 9th.
00:41:56
Speaker
As well, you get... ah Let's see what else you get the next week. You get Detroit and Buffalo in week two prime time. You're also going to get the Denver and Chiefs that same weekend on ESPN. That is your Monday night. Your opening Monday night football game will be the Chiefs and the Broncos. Shout out to Wildcard Martin. Hot take Jake as well.
00:42:19
Speaker
ah ah Opening day week, you got a couple San Francisco 49ers will be playing the Los Angeles Rams all the way in Australia. o alrighty Yes, what a far flight that will be. And then finally, as and um for a Christmas Day special, Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks will play Christmas Day. And then finally, the one we told you about in Rio,
00:42:47
Speaker
Cowboys and Ravens international game. We will be there. It is going to be awesome. Let me give you some other international games as well. The Colts will be playing the Commanders in London week 4.
00:43:00
Speaker
four ah We have the Eagles playing the Jaguars in London week five. We have the Texans playing the Jaguars in week six. I think you see a theme happening here.
00:43:13
Speaker
Why is that? Because, and i had I had always thought this was true, but I will give a shout out to my brother Peach, who I did hear say this on Sunday Showdown.
00:43:24
Speaker
So I'll let him get the credit, even though I've always thought this. The Jaguars are going to be a team that is going to be stationed in London at some point in time. I mean, I think they got, what, six games there this year or four?
00:43:37
Speaker
They're eventually going to be the first foreign team, as Jaguars will definitely. And it makes sense because their owners, the Khans, have a lot of European soccer investments as well. So it only really makes sense.
00:43:52
Speaker
But you also got Patriots and Lions in Germany. Pops, there you go. You were stationed in Germany. That's where I was born. And you got San Francisco and Vikings. I'm very mad about this.
00:44:04
Speaker
I wanted to go to Mexico City to see the Raiders in the 49ers NFL. You dropped the ball on this. You could have had the 14 Raiders or you could have had the Cardinals, both big teams in Mexico, as Clever D pointed out.
00:44:17
Speaker
But you chose the Vikings. Why in all hell would you choose the Vikings to go to Mexico? I have no clue, but you screwed me out of Mexico City. So thank you very much on that. Pops, what do you got say about the NFL and the schedule release and anything else?
00:44:32
Speaker
No, I really don't have anything else to say. I mean, i'm hi there theyre obviously, they're they're going to keep expanding, you know, and like you said, we're going to have NFL Europe, you know, at some point.
00:44:46
Speaker
So... Yes, and at least the Jaguars, if nothing else. i Yes. they They're definitely building it back, though. They had it at one point in time. It was more of a minor league, but I could see a whole division there. And maybe not even maybe you could extend even further than just Europe. Maybe, yes.
00:45:04
Speaker
Now, travel would get a little dicey yeah once you start to try to go to Asia or the South America. but yeah All right. go ahead. yeah good ahead No, no, I mean, like you said, yeah, I mean, the travel will be will be a nightmare, you know, I mean, you're going through, you know, so many time zones and then you, you know, you're expected to perform, you know, at you know at your, you know, top, so no.
00:45:32
Speaker
Yep. And so ah some other NFL news, Aaron Rodgers signed a one-year deal to play with the Steelers and his old coach, Mike McCarthy, in Green Bay. Do you think they can rekindle the Green Bay magic for one last Super Bowl run in Pittsburgh?
00:45:50
Speaker
you You asking me? Yes. I am not asking anyone else on the show. Um... Hmm. Um...
00:46:00
Speaker
oh No, I don't think so, man. I mean, Rodgers, man, he is, what, 42 years old or 41? Yeah, a no, he is not anywhere where he used to be. So, no, I just don't think so. I don't think that Pittsburgh has the team to, ah you know, to run it all the way up to the Super Bowl.
00:46:23
Speaker
They'll probably make the playoffs, but I don't think they're going to run it to the Super Bowl. Yeah. No, they could make the playoffs if they can rekindle that magic. I don't know. Rodgers is old. This would probably be his last season anyways.
00:46:37
Speaker
And Pittsburgh won't win the Super Bowl, like you said, even if they were to make the playoffs. Shout out my brother Cushby. And shout out to everybody else watching on Facebook. I apologize if you're just tuning in now. I thought it had connected, but StreamYard did not properly connect to Facebook, so it's just getting connected now.
00:46:52
Speaker
So we were only on YouTube and Instagram. So if you're just joining us, you did miss about 45 minutes of the program that you should go check out on YouTube. All right. Anyways, other news in the NFL league owners will formally approve a lease between the commanders and DC to go back to RFK, baby. I know that's what peach and all the commanders fans wanted.
00:47:16
Speaker
So now we are officially going to approve a lease to break ground there. What do you think about RFK coming back? Well, it's not going to be the old RFK, you know, with the, you know, the old magic, obviously, but, yeah you know, they need to revitalize, you know, that area there, you know, that has been, that spot has been dead, you know, in there forever. So, yeah, i'm i' I'm kind of glad that they're, you know, bringing a new stadium in there and they're going to have, you know, a livable, you know, spaces, you know, housing, retail,
00:47:51
Speaker
So, yeah, it should be a yeah hopefully will be a good, you know, revitalization, you know, project for the district, you know, just like ah the area around Nationals Park.
00:48:04
Speaker
Yep. Yeah, no, you're right. That's exactly what they're thinking. They did a decent enough job of, ri ah I mean, i you say renovating, I'm just going to call it what it is.
00:48:17
Speaker
it's ah It's gentrification at its finest. um you know to to a I get you think, you know what, that's for another program. That's not for the sports program. We're going to stop that right here. No need for the politics today, but ah yeah, it brings back money to the area at the expense of the lower class individuals. That's all i'll say. Anyways, it would be cool to have ah RFK back if at least for the memories, if nothing else.
00:48:44
Speaker
All right, cool. Let's ah give you an update here on the and NBA game. San Antonio is up 71 to 67. Two minutes and 47 seconds left in the third quarter. San Antonio up by four there. And hey, the hockey game is going to overtime.
00:49:05
Speaker
Game seven is going to overtime. Canadians and Sabres. That means we got 15 minutes because I got to get off because I want to see overtime game seven. So two to two, Montreal and Buffalo there. Let's move it on to...
00:49:20
Speaker
The expert here on his golf. We had the PGA championship this past weekend and out of nowhere, Aaron Rye, the 31 year old Englishman who came in ranked 44th in the world and was a 175 to one pre betting, you know, contender, which is not one of all pretty much in golf was the first player from England to win the Wanamaker trophy since

PGA Championship Course Difficulty

00:49:56
Speaker
1919.
00:49:56
Speaker
nineteen But his victory will renew the endless debate about the whether the PGA of America win. allowed the best players in the field to separate themselves with superior shot making because they tried to make the holes as was noted in the in the in the coverage as tough as possible they tried to move the the pins and the green or the you know the the greens to where it would be as hard as possible for golfers to, you know, obviously get the ball into the, the, the, the holes themselves. know It was definitely a tough test.
00:50:36
Speaker
Yeah. So talk to us. What'd you see here in this PGA championship this past weekend? Well, I mean, obviously, uh, you know, the way that they set up that course, it was tough from T to green, you know, the, uh,
00:50:53
Speaker
There were a lot of tight, you know, three-line tee shots that demanded accuracy. Because if not, any wayward, you know, shots, you know, down on the other end will end up in that tall fescue, which punish, you know, the players.
00:51:12
Speaker
Yes, the fescue. You know, the way the fairways, you know, roll, you know, they they're they're just, they were built that way. so that if you don't hit it in the right spot, you know, the ball will collect down to the to the rough.
00:51:27
Speaker
That tall fescue was probably about six inches deep. I mean, people were standing in that stuff, and you couldn't even see their shoes.
00:51:38
Speaker
That's how deep that was. and And let me tell you, I play golf. I'm not very good. I'm a 15 handicap. But trying to hit out of that deep rough,
00:51:50
Speaker
You gotta have some some some strength because if not, you can hurt your wrist coming out of that stuff. um you know If you went into that tall stuff, it was almost automatically you would drop a stroke on that hole because it was just not penalizing.
00:52:09
Speaker
ah They had deep bunkers you know and and and and just around the greens, they had that tall fescue as well, which You know, we saw a lot of players, you know, just jumping shots, you know, right up onto the green. So, um yeah, I mean, that course, the way they set it up, they set it up to punish, you know, the the best players in the world.
00:52:34
Speaker
And, you know, surprisingly, you would say, maybe not, but just the way that Rye, you know, kept the ball in play, that's what helped him.
00:52:46
Speaker
You know, he kept the ball in play. um he hit he was six under in the last 10 holes. Okay. yeah he made it drop Talk to us about that because he made a huge turnaround.
00:52:58
Speaker
He was, if I believe, in and correct me if if I'm wrong here, but I believe that he started off the front nine with a couple bogeys and stuff like that. He had three bogeys on the front nine.
00:53:11
Speaker
Then he hit the eagle on number nine, and then he had four birdies. on the back nine. So he took that tournament. He earned it.
00:53:23
Speaker
You know, he didn't panic. And then he hit that 70 plus foot bomb on 17. yeah he had He admitted it that he wasn't trying to make it.
00:53:35
Speaker
He was just trying to get it, you know, close, you know, to maybe two putts. So, yeah, I mean, that that that was an incredible, you know, last 10 holes that he played.
00:53:46
Speaker
you know, under the conditions. You know, the course was tough. mean, the greens were not holding. the The greens were, you know, they had a lot of undulations, a lot of ridges.
00:53:57
Speaker
They were the fast. If you did not hit that quadrant on the green that you need to, the ball will end up off the green, and then that will be a tough chip, you know, coming back. So,
00:54:10
Speaker
I think the PGA did a really, really good job of setting up that course to test the best you know golfers in the world. Oh, so you like that? You don't want them to make it a little easier for the better golfers to be able to? No, do not want to see a 30 under for four rounds. No, I don't want to see that. Yeah, I get it. But the critics would say that they want to see the best players in the world be in contention. And when you make it so hard that some of them can't be, it's not good for TV. Sorry, everybody's playing under the same conditions.
00:54:47
Speaker
No, you're right. There's no crying in golf. Yeah. everybody was playing under the same conditions. The beam placements were in the same spot for everybody.
00:55:01
Speaker
They practiced the course. You know, they walk it around. You know, they have to have a plan when you go in there. So, you know, if you try to be too aggressive with the way they set up that course, it's going to bite you.
00:55:17
Speaker
Yes, the fescue will bite you. I love i love the word fescue. It makes me laugh. and And undulations. What a tremendous word for a Puerto Rico.
00:55:27
Speaker
And the the the the different shades of the grass on the green, that Brent grass, that stuff affects the pots.
00:55:38
Speaker
maybe you know Maybe not so much the ones that are fast, they will keep their line, but when they had when they were above the hole, I'm sure we we know whoever watched some of those rounds saw it, when they were putting above the hole and they had to barely tap it,
00:55:59
Speaker
Those putts changed direction a lot of times. and they And you could see the golfers be fluttered just with their hands on their hips. You know, like, what happened in here?
00:56:09
Speaker
So, yeah. it was So, some of those players, let's talk about it. John Rahm, Roy McElroy, right? he He played eight par five holes in even par over four days.
00:56:25
Speaker
Smalley, the World 78, had a two-shot lead. and then took a double bogey at a par 4-6. Scotty Scheffler, no factor. Justin Thomas held the lead, and that's when I tuned in on day four. Justin Thomas had gone to the clubhouse and had the lead when I started watching on Sunday.
00:56:43
Speaker
And, uh, and, uh, so anyways, these top golfers, right. They, they just weren't at their top. Do you think that the PGA, uh, will continue to do this or is this just like for, they do for the PGA championship? Why did they decide to make it so tough this time? Well, for the, for the major championships, I believe every major, do they?
00:57:04
Speaker
the The U S open has always been tough, especially with the rough. Okay. You know, they have deep rough on the U S open. So, I believe that we'll continue to do it.
00:57:17
Speaker
I think that golfers need to stop crying and get over it. Everybody's playing under the same conditions. Okay? So you got to hit the shots. Yeah, and insider information, his caddy actually said it that it wasn't the putt on 17, although that was great to be able to separate him from the pack. His caddy said it wasn't the putt on 17, but rather that that birdie on nine that you had mentioned. Yeah, eagle.
00:57:44
Speaker
The eagle, excuse me, on nine that you had mentioned that really turned him around. and Really? Okay. Well, hey, I mean, like I said, he had four birdies on the back nine, which the back nine over the whole weekend were the tougher, you know, nines.
00:58:03
Speaker
Mm-hmm. So, yeah, I mean, to two to go four under on the back nine in a major championship on the last day when there were 22, it was a record 22 golfers that were within four strokes.
00:58:18
Speaker
of the lead going into Sunday. Yes, a record. That's right. Yes, you took the good job. You took my professor's stand. I like that. Good job. Oh, man, I'm sorry. No, no, no. I love it. I love it. That's perfect.
00:58:30
Speaker
Yes, I had that on my sheet. Yes, they had that. That was a record. It was 16 was before the record, right? Yeah. Wow. So pretty much anybody's game, right? At that point, absolutely.
00:58:43
Speaker
with With all of the, you know, they would, you know, a player would birdie a hole and then, we'll you know, would bogey the next one, you know, kind of stuff. So, yeah, I mean, anything could have happened.
00:58:55
Speaker
All right, cool. Well, thank you for your golf expertise. We much appreciate that there. Let's get into a couple other mixed bag items before we get you out of here. I want to get your opinion on this.
00:59:06
Speaker
um How about the Triple Crown? So unfortunately, what we're seeing and it's is' becoming more of a dilemma nowadays is the horse racing triple crown we don't ever get to see because nowadays and it's happened, I believe if I'm correct, I don't have the stat on me.

Challenges with Horse Racing Triple Crown

00:59:25
Speaker
I heard it, but I believe it's seven out of the past 10 years or something like that. where the winner of the Kentucky Derby has not raced in the Preakness. And a lot of times, that because it's such a quick turnaround, it makes sense. It's a very quick turnaround. It's a, what, two weeks turnaround? So it's very quick. It makes sense why a lot of them wouldn't want to run. But the problem is that that takes away from the Triple Crown. That takes away from the whole point of your racing being on TV and being a whole spectacle.
00:59:59
Speaker
So in my eyes, when I'm looking at this and knowing that this has been a problem for 20, 30, 40 years since you started broadcasting this on TV, we'll fix the fucking problem like all the other leagues would.
01:00:12
Speaker
Move it back two weeks so you have a month in between each major event. Why are you forcing owners into the situation of ah they got to protect their horses? yeah Because then then you come out and you had the three-year-old horse that then died in the warm-ups at the Preakness this past weekend because you've got these horses coming out too quickly. Tell me your thoughts on this.
01:00:36
Speaker
I mean, obviously I am for, you know, giving a longer break. you know, in between the races. Now, obviously that will push the races into the warmer months.
01:00:50
Speaker
So don't... So start earlier. Yeah, just, you know, start a little bit earlier than May, you know, kind of stuff. So, but yeah, I mean, you know, it it that it's all about horse, you know, safety, right? So if it's about their, you know, safety, then they need to allow a little bit more time.
01:01:09
Speaker
So that way more horses from the kentucky derby the winners you know can compete in all three races because you know the thing is that i believe the kentucky derby is the shortest race of the three yes and then that the the the you know preakness here in in in baltimore or in laura this year is a little bit longer and then finally the belmont stakes is the longest of the races.
01:01:38
Speaker
So, you know, that takes lot. As it's getting hotter. As it's getting hotter. And getting hotter, too. as so Yeah. yeah no ah Personally, ah think they should allow, you know, a little longer break in between the races and just start a little bit earlier.
01:01:54
Speaker
So my thing is either that. i'm sure the horses don't mind the ah the cooler weather that much. No, I'm sure they would like it. But also, this goes to the horse racing people. Like, if you want the Kentucky, unless you want the Kentucky Derby, which I know is the crown jewel, unless you want that to be the end-all be-all, then fine. Say that.
01:02:15
Speaker
Say the Kentucky Derby is the main race and the rest of them are just good races to win. Because if you want to treat this like a triple crown, you have to actually have the race be able to be a triple crown.
01:02:26
Speaker
And people are not going to watch the races. And I know because I used to live in College Park and I wanted to go to the triple crown. But a lot of those years, right, um you know, ah they' just the the lord horse wasn't racing.
01:02:39
Speaker
because it's so close. And I'm not going to go to just go watch a regular horse race if it had been for the Triple Crown. Maybe I would have gone and partaken. So looking at these dates, the first one is on May 7th, is the Kentucky Derby this year. And then the... um The Preakness on May 16th, exactly two weeks later.
01:03:00
Speaker
And then the Belmont Stakes on June 6th, three weeks later. Three weeks, yeah. So why are we packing all of this into two months? Why are we not starting in April?
01:03:12
Speaker
First of all, we have our Kentucky Derby here. It's called the, what is it called? somebody in nashville help me out oh i'm tripping anyways it's a great event it's like the kanducky derby everybody gets dressed up they do the horse race here um uh but anyways that's in april so just start the kanducky derby the first week of april move up ah the ah move up, or even leave it where it is, right?
01:03:39
Speaker
The Preakness in the middle of May, or ah yeah or move it up to the beginning of May, where Kentucky Derby will be, and then move up the other one so it's not necessarily in the hot summer months, right? So you could do first week of April, Kentucky Derby, first week of May, Preakness, first week of June, Belmont Stakes. They each get a month between.
01:03:58
Speaker
You know, that's fair. All right. I think that's a fair suggestion. Wanted to get your take on on that because I was kind of pissed me off because it's like every year I want to see a triple crown winner and we never get the chance anymore. You're not going to get it, you know, if if the horses are not going to be able to participate. So.
01:04:17
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. All right, couple more things of notes here.

NASCAR Season Overview

01:04:21
Speaker
NASCAR had their all-star race this weekend at Dover Motor Speedway, the Monster Mile, as it's called, one of NASCAR's most treacherous tracks. The winner, ah Michael Jordan's crew, Denny Hamlin, one ah ah one of the best rap racers in the NASCAR, won the million-dollar prize um as well. ah You know, his he outraced his teammate.
01:04:43
Speaker
Chase Briscoe. And if you don't watch NASCAR, which I know probably a lot of people watching this don't, um, Michael Jordan has been having a tremendous year in NASCAR. First of all, in the off season, he won the lawsuits against NASCAR, um, for improper monopoly. So basically what they were trying to do was NASCAR owners were trying to have a monopoly where they could control the drivers.
01:05:09
Speaker
Well, Michael Jordan, an outsider in the industry, came in and said, you know, fuck that. No, we're going to have something different. so he went to took them to court and he won. And they weren't allowed to monopolize the ownership stables.
01:05:23
Speaker
Well, Michael Jordan, I guess the gods really like that because they are very much rewarding him now. his His racers have won, I believe now, half of the races this season. Tyler Reddick won, I believe, three of the first five races of the season right after Michael Jordan won that case. So Michael Jordan has won, I believe, at least eight to ten of the NASCAR races this year. So... I kudos i didn't even know that. Wow. Yeah. Kudos to him.
01:05:52
Speaker
Yep. Yep. Yeah. Tyler Reddick, his driver came out and won the right after they won the court case, came out and won the first three races in a row in NASCAR, which is very hard to do, as you know. And then he went on to win like, I think two or three more after that. And then you got Denny Hamlin won this, the all-star race. You got Chase Briscoe, another really good driver. So, you know, he's having a really good year.
01:06:14
Speaker
Oh, wow. Yep. Last couple last notes here in the mixed bag. This weekend we had a bunch of combat sports, but the notar the notable one was on Netflix.

Criticism of Rousey vs. Carano Fight

01:06:26
Speaker
We had the return of Ronda Rousey fighting Gina Carano. It only lasted 17 seconds. Netflix subscribers are pissed off that they paid apparently this much money for the bullshit. Look, you can't expect much.
01:06:40
Speaker
Carano hadn't fought in 17 years. Ronda Rousey is going to be a mother and hasn't fought in a while. This was all for the money grab. That's all it was. They both got paid over a one and a half million dollars for 17 seconds worth of action. I would actually probably say i know I'm a little bit of a conspiracy theorist when it comes to sports.
01:06:59
Speaker
I would actually say this was probably rigged. But apparently apparently i'm I'm wrong in that. But I don't know. That seemed a little too scripted the way it happened. Even a blind man, Stevie Wonder himself, could have seen Ronda Rousey going for the armbar. So I'm not sure how Carano got caught there. But anyways... That's what you see. yeah Yeah. Whatever. 17 seconds to completely... ah steal everybody's money. yeah I know. that but not I'm with you. I'm with you. I think that will set up just a money grab.
01:07:31
Speaker
you know yeah Just like they did with the Tyson's fight. I don't like it, Netflix. and not Not a good start. I know some people have extolled the virtues. I don't like it. I think you need to get a little better before we start hyping that up. That being said, Conor McGregor, UFC announced, will be back fighting for the first time since he broke his leg in 2021.
01:07:51
Speaker
will be back in July 11th of this year, right after UFC has their 250 card there in D.C. over in your home area. Maybe Clubber D will be there. I do not know. But UFC doing big things this year with 250 at the White House. And then now Conor McGregor, their biggest star, coming back to fight Max Holloway in a rematch for the first time in five years. what do you think about Conor McGregor?
01:08:15
Speaker
You're not going to see me there, first of all. But anyway, um what do I think about him coming back? i don't know man i mean how how long has he been you know out there not not fighting he broke five years five years five years yeah i don't know it's a it's a money grab but you know you can't have you can't have a money grab against max holloway because max holloway will beat that ass and i'm sure max holloway um well that's okay he's taking a few you know few beatings you know so yes yes
01:08:47
Speaker
Yes, this is true. So we will update you and see what happens there. And one last note, and this is a big F you to who?

High School Track Team Disqualification Debate

01:08:56
Speaker
North Carolina.
01:08:58
Speaker
Why? North Carolina had their track state championship this past weekend. And the referees, in my eyes, made a horrible, horrible decision.
01:09:12
Speaker
Let me go ahead and add this. I'm to share my screen and show you what I'm talking about here. Shout out to The Athletic, who I always go to for my information. But Mallard Creek boys track and field team was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct after winning the four by four on 100 relay. So watch what happens here.
01:09:36
Speaker
I will let you all be the judge. Let me go ahead and turn down the music for a second here. I will let you all be the judge here. go ahead go and go and make this bigger.
01:09:50
Speaker
And add this here. All right, everybody. As you can see here, this is what's happening. And let me go ahead and play the video. So North Carolina State Championship, track and field.
01:10:02
Speaker
This team, Mallard Creek, is going to become the winner in the 4x400 relay and win the gold. And watch what happens. Mallard Creek,
01:10:23
Speaker
You can see he's like, what's going on? What happened? Why? What did I do? If you missed it, let me show you again. Coming down to the finish line, they called this unsportsmanlike conduct for taunting. I didn't even know this was the NFL. I thought this was freaking track.
01:10:39
Speaker
I don't know what's happening here, officials, but this is one of the worst calls I've ever fucking seen in my life. Let's see this again. See if I can get this playing again. Internet want to act up now. Come on, Internet.
01:10:53
Speaker
Work with me here. What's happening? Come on. Let me see if I can refresh this for the people. Let's see. Hold on, people, real quick. Let me get this going for you All right.
01:11:06
Speaker
So look As you see, all he does is put his hand the air with the five, signalizing some kind of five. I don't know what the five symbolized.
01:11:16
Speaker
I'm assuming a fifth medal, fifth win, a fifth championship. But either way... the human
01:11:27
Speaker
Either way, I have a bone to pick with these bum-ass officials. Doesn't nobody come to the game to watch officials, okay? I'm sick and tired of this shit. They do it in the NFL.
01:11:40
Speaker
They do it in MLB. They do it in all the โ€“ we don't come to see the officials. We pay to watch the players. We pay to watch the game. We pay to watch these high school kids come and run track. And if you're getting upset because โ€“ high schooler, a kid, mind you, not even an adult, but a kid said five, put his hand up saying five because it was his team's fifth championship.
01:12:09
Speaker
And you're going to penalize them and cost them that championship. That is the most bullshit I've ever heard in my life. This is really pissing me off today. This is the story that upset me the most. What do you think about this?
01:12:21
Speaker
He's gone. My dad is gone. It's probably good because I've been cursing and I went a little crazy. Shout out to my pops for joining me. But to you, North Carolina, and to you for this crap you did for these kids, that's some bullshit.
01:12:36
Speaker
Don't take away their state championship for that. That's not taunting. And they're kids. They're not even grown adults. That's some bullshit. Y'all might come to see the officials.
01:12:46
Speaker
Get your head out your asses. Y'all should be fired. I hope somebody gets fired. i hope whoever way i hope you get fired. I hope they don't ever let you come back and judge another race ever. That's some bullshit.
01:12:59
Speaker
