00:03:31
Speaker
War in the you know in the in the country that or in the world and very serious topic Instead of ah and then right after that I go into something like Moana too or something and it's like okay Omar that doesn't work at all You're gonna need to change your structure up so people don't get ah confused or get offended some people get offended with the Structure of topics things like that.
Extended Discussion on Taylor Swift's Economic Impact
00:03:52
Speaker
So I don't want to you know, I don't care that much about offending people, but I don't want to turn any fans off ah for any you know reason that I can control. It doesn't really matter. Anyways, let's go. Taylor Swift. Wow. Wow. Wow. After two years and one hundred and fifty two shows across five continents, Taylor Swift's eras tour has finally, finally ah ended. And so it took its last show last night in Vancouver. Y'all.
00:04:24
Speaker
This was a cultural phenomenon, something unseen since the Beatles came you know to America or Woodstock even. like Taylor Swift is that big she's bigger than big. She's bigger than most GDPs, which we'll get into in just a second here.
00:04:45
Speaker
But let's talk a little bit about this this concert. So when it first started or the when the first leg ended in twenty twenty three, it was already the highest grossing for of all time, earning more than one billion dollars across 66 shows. Now, after 86 shows in twenty twenty four. Wow. That's sick and poor man. She is a true superstar uh in in front of us and that's 152 shows as we mentioned with a final haul uh this is according to poll star of 2.2 billion with a B
00:05:29
Speaker
When you come back to Nashville, take me out for some drinks. All right. Let me meet Travis. Uh, fans traveled an average distance, get this, of 338 miles to see a show. Now, obviously some people will travel across the world and that's going to skew those numbers a little bit, but just the fact that people would travel hundreds of miles to see one person performing. I know a lot of people do this, like they'll want to go to Vegas or Nashville or a tourist city and see one of their favorite bands. So that does happen.
00:05:59
Speaker
But people went out of their way to, like, go places they didn't even want
Entertainment Announcements: NFL and Disney
00:06:04
Speaker
to be. Like, I'll give you an example. I was in my I was in my sauna at my apartment. comp Yes, we have a sauna. I am blessed. And I was talking to this guy. He had brought his daughters out for the Taylor Swift show. And and he didn't want to be there at all. But they had came. They came all the way from. I forget where. what somewhere in the south. I don't want, I want to say it was like Texas or Arkansas or something like that. So it was only a few states away, but still I was like, really? Yup. Like, I mean, I know she going to go there to somewhere closer. Uh, maybe not, but either way, that just shows you the power, uh, and star power that she has to cause people to want to do that. US s fans in the US s on average, $1,300 for a show. That means tickets.
00:06:46
Speaker
Uh, you know, people, you know, the girls, especially the young girls, they're going to want to get their outfits. So the parents got to pay for that travel to your parking, all that stuff. 1300 on average for a show. Merch sales get this 440 million in merch sales. Her movie made $260 million dollars worldwide and was a record for a concert film and was featured on Disney plus her book sold 814,000 copies on Thanksgiving weekend alone and at $40 a pop Damn she is raking in that money. Whoo I hear a little background noise. I'm gonna put a little bit of Background music on so I don't hear myself too much. But anyways Get this gets even crazier. This is the kicker before we move on to our next topic
00:07:36
Speaker
He brought economies out of the post COVID world. um As we mentioned, first her first leg, when it ended, it was a record, right? Get this. He contributed $4.3 billion dollars to the US gross domestic product. To our GDP, the first leg of her tour gave $4.3 billion dollars to the GDP. and That's crazy. Let me not curse on this. That's crazy.
00:08:04
Speaker
but like Unfathomable, unfathomable. Excuse me. Get this to Bloomberg economics reported that Sweden had the higher than expected inflation in May.
TikTok Ban and Data Privacy Concerns
00:08:14
Speaker
And it was because she had performed three shows in Stockholm. Like, what are we talking about? This is crazy.
00:08:21
Speaker
so hey shout out to her keep doing your thing obviously she is uh you know just something we ain't never seen before and she deserves it she's a hard worker uh you may not like her music but ah in terms of being a songwriter and ah and an artist and a musician she's amazing Um, so yeah, hey props. Take take like I said, let me know when you get back to Nashville. We'll go get a drink together. I want to meet Travis, you know, i say what's up. So let's move it on Simpsons tonight. Monday Night Football will feature an animated version of Monday Night Football as Simpsons characters. Yes, you will remember they did this last year when they had the London game between the Jaguars and the Falcons and they did the Toy Story version.
00:09:04
Speaker
Which by the way if you want to see my top three characters from last year's game I did a short on it just a minute you can go check it out on the YouTube I'll be doing another one tomorrow night on the bottom line sports Well, I'll give you my top three Simpsons characters that being said Marge and Lisa will interview players Homer and Bart will be your coaches and Maggie will fly the sky cam Let's go Maggie. Love me some Maggie. She'd be doing the most with her with her not nonverbal self ah can't talk she's a baby obviously anyways let's keep it moving disney is selling tickets starting tomorrow for their first asia-based cruise ship and if you are a marvel fan you are going to love this it is a voyage um from singapore it is a marvel themed cruise ship so if you if that interests you they go on sale tomorrow so make sure you look that up disney marvel themed cruise ship in asia

ah Ruby slippers that were worn by Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz and they were previously stolen from a museum in 2005. They were expected to sell at auction for $3 million. dollars They sold for $28 million, a pair of Ruby slippers that we all remember.
00:10:18
Speaker
Um, also, I've got to update you off from last week. We talked a little Moana too, and how well that did in the box office. Another blowout weekend. They are now at $600 million dollars globally for Moana too. Wow. And then finally, uh, finish off our pop culture here. Federal appeals court has upheld a law to ban TikTok.
00:10:39
Speaker
in the United States starting January 19th of 2025. Now you will remember we talked about a few weeks ago Australia banning ah social media for kids under the age of 16.
Mets Signing Juan Soto and Baseball Rivalries
00:10:52
Speaker
This is a little different in its context it's not in terms of kids and their mental health because of the ah the things that happen on social media. This is because China owns TikTok. And because they own TikTok, they also own all of the data on TikTok. So if you've ever signed up for TikTok, I'm sorry to tell you, the Chinese own your information, whatever you've given them so far. Try not to give them anymore, but you might as well not get off because you've already given it to them anyways. That being said, that's not that's why I'm not on there and I never have been, just because
00:11:25
Speaker
yeah with my background and things that I've done in places I've been, that's not a place that that I need to be, just in terms of of not wanting the Chinese to have a hold of any of my impersonal information. So anyways, ah we'll see what happens here. ah Joe Biden actually signed this into law in April 2024 and before any Trump uh fans or or supporters come on here and say anything oh joe biden did it again blah blah blah this was actually a trump idea in his first term he just never was able to do it and joe biden actually signed it in it still may not happen that it's going to go up in front of the supreme court to see if it actually happens i think it should again i am a proponent of informational security um
00:12:14
Speaker
My whole family has been involved in U.S. governmental security somehow, someway. So being very protective over information and stuff is really big in my family. And so I i think that.
00:12:28
Speaker
You know, and I get it. It's not going to happen. I know it's not going to happen. I'm just telling you what probably should happen in terms of security and safety of the United States. I know it's not going to happen. There's no way like this passes. I can't believe um just because of the backlash that you would get. ah Pretty much every young person in this country that has a phone uses TikTok.
00:12:50
Speaker
I can't imagine you want all of that backlash. So we'll see what happens. You know, I'll keep you updated here on this program. All right. Awesome. Again, thank you all for tuning in. Yes. Hit that love or like or laugh button. Yes. I sound like a home decor photo. I don't care. Just hit it. So the algorithm boosts us up. I'll see y'all all in here. Thank you again for tuning in.
00:13:12
Speaker
You know, I truly, truly appreciate you. Let me go ahead and actually put on some low background music here for us. Because again, I'm getting a little feedback on my end. So I'm going to put a little lo-fi on in the background just to help myself out.
00:13:28
Speaker
ah All right, keep it moving into sports. If you did not hear the huge news overnight, it was Juan Soto has been signed by my New York Met. Let's go, Metropolitan! Greet the Met. Greet the Met.
00:13:50
Speaker
Get right up and raise up. Anyways, let's go. 15 years, 765 million dollars. We are talking dollar, dollar bills, y'all. Today on this program, we're just getting paid hand over.
00:14:08
Speaker
yeah Don't ask me if I believe athlete least to make that much money. But hey, you live in a capitalist society and you make with someone willing to pay you, and Steve Cohen, the owner of the Mets, was willing to pay Juan Soto, the biggest record-setting contract in history. Yes, it does surpass Joe Hale, Tony's 10-year, $700 million dollar contract from last year, and you say, oh, Mark, well, how the hell is that possible? well ah That don't make sense mathematically. That would be $70 million a year average. Yes.
College Football Playoff Controversies
00:14:38
Speaker
but since all of the money was deferred in today's money it only comes out to about 460 to 480 million 46 to 48 48 million on average which Juan Soto wanted to pass and now he has the match The best part about this as a Mets fan is they took this away from the Yankees. They broke all their hopes and all their dreams. And we stole away what could be a Ted Williams, a Hank Aaron in the making. And I know that sounds blasphemous. Believe me, I am a huge baseball fan. It's proud. I mean, I love all sports, so they're all my favorites. But probably my first love was baseball just because of the strategy that's involved in any way.
00:15:21
Speaker
I love baseball. I do. I very, very much so love baseball. And so to be a Mets fan and be mired in disappointment for so many years, just failure after failure after failure. And to have Steve Cohen come in the richest owner in sports and want to bring a winner to the New York Mets franchise just a, just a chef's kits. Uh, and I could not appreciate it as a Mets fan anymore. We stole them from the Yankees again, a once in a lifetime player. Uh, this is, he's going to be a met the rest of the time. I know y'all heard of a five year opt out. He does have that, but the Mets can eliminate that opt out, opt out, excuse me, by upping his annual value.
00:16:04
Speaker
from 51 to 55 million so they'll up at another 4 million a year he'll make more money overall the total contract after everything will be said and done will be 15 years 805 million dollars so there you go making you know a good good chunk of money uh much more than anybody else until that next big contract comes along so now you're gonna ask me how do i feel about this as as a Mets fan. Hold on. I knew I was getting some background on ah um my my thing. Hold on one second. Let me turn that down a little bit. That background music a little. There we go. Alright, cool. Anyways, so
00:16:50
Speaker
ah So this is, in my eyes, and I'll tell you exactly what my dad's first reaction is, who has a Mets fan as well, he he does not like it at all. He thinks we need a pitching, he thinks we're tying up way too much money into one player, all valid criticisms and concerns. ah You need to be able to build a roster. The great part is, like I said, we cut the richest order in sports, and in Major League Baseball there is no salary cap.
00:17:16
Speaker
and it ain't my money so if Steve Cohen wants to come out and and build a a winner a la the Dodgers which he says he wants to do bringing in David Stearns a respected executive from the Brewers who builds a consistent winner this is looking like the future for Mets fans happiness and joy and it starts with the signing of Juan Soto now we need to go out we need to sign Petal Anzo if money is no option then who cares sign Petal Anzo sign Corbin Burns go back and get Sean Manaya And let's refill this team. And we had a great team last year and let's go win a world championship. He said within five years, this is year five. We'll see what happens. But anyways, I am over the moon excited about this acquisition.
00:18:01
Speaker
Let's move it on to college football. The first 12 team playoff field was unveiled just this past weekend. And so I am actually going to present a share screen. I'm going to bring that up for the week.
00:18:17
Speaker
can all take a look at it together. And so what you'll see here is we have our official bracket. So the top four, as you can see, Oregon is number one. They've been the number one seed since week seven, I believe, or six. And they just they they've just consistently um been the top team all year long.
00:18:37
Speaker
number two georgia canteens georgia shout out my crew at the bottom line sports you can check us out live tomorrow 8 pm eastern if you're subscribed to ball and buds you'll see us there if not make sure you're subscribed to ball and buds b-a-l-l-a-n-d-b-u-d-s you love the shameless plugs i'm so good at this uh number three boy we we had to figure georgia was gonna as long as they won out after that that lost alabama we knew they we were gonna be in the top four The surprise here, Boise State at number three. Now, a lot of people are upset with this, ah you know the especially the ACC fans. They believe that their winner ah of the of the conference title, Clemson, should have been ah the team that got the third spot or the fourth spot and gotten the bye. Valid criticism, and especially considering that ACC and the Big 12 are still considered power conferences.
00:19:31
Speaker
Now, I put that in and air quotes because if you watch the bottom line sports, you'll know my take on this from last week's show where I said that they are no longer power conferences. The ACC and the Big 12 are now just little step brother and step sister, and they eventually will be engulfed.
00:19:48
Speaker
by the bigger conferences. We are going to eventually end up with two super conferences of probably, you know, 64 teams each. ah Let's start with 32, obviously, but I could see it getting really crazy. It's just gonna be the Big 10 and the SEC. They'll change their names. They'll probably be the big and the SEC or something, but whatever, right? And it's gonna happen and it needs to happen because this discrepancy is gonna happen every year.
00:20:12
Speaker
because you have the group of five teams which Boise State, ah independent other other considered lower conferences are going to have their arguments and then you're going to have the ACC and Big 12. Oh, we want our team. So this is going to happen on a yearly basis. Why do I think this is genius by the college football playoff committee?
00:20:32
Speaker
because they get it out of the way the first year. If they wouldn't have given Boise State this number three spot, we would have gone on year after year like we did before the playoffs when we were like, oh, the group of five teams never get respected. They never get put in the final. And they didn't.
Crime and Societal Issues Discussion
00:20:50
Speaker
They never got, oh, they had to go undefeated basically like Boise State did a couple of times just to be able to get there. Well, now i think they I think they thought about this. The college football playoff committee And if they didn't, they need to have me on there because I had thought about this. Now that you put them in number three, you automatically knock this controversy out forever. Never again can a group of five teams say they that they don't get the respect because in the first year, Boise State got to buy genius maneuver. You'll hear more about that tomorrow.
00:21:19
Speaker
As for Arizona, Arizona State, whooped up Ohio State, and Clemson has barely struggled, struggled along this year. And honestly, I wish it would have been SMU, uh, that, that beat them. Uh, but we'll get more of that in a second when we tell you who got in at that last spot. Uh, but anyways, Arizona State deserves to be there. Let's move to the outside bracket. So what happened here in this new playoff system that playoffs, playoffs, who's talking about playoff?
00:21:46
Speaker
and tell me about no. playoff i ah Anyway, oh so in this new system, the teams that are in these other four outside or these other four outside brackets, the team that is the higher seed will host the game at their home stadium. I think that's a really cool niche and bringing it to the to fans of those particular teams that deserve to have something like that at a home stadium. So we see we got Notre Dame hosting Indiana in South Bend to Indiana teams going at it. I think that's a perfect bowl matchup.
00:22:17
Speaker
um and i And I mean I Indiana played over their head all year long all year long I gotta take Notre Dame. They're just a stronger team in this one at Penn State versus SMU So Penn State will host SMU James Franklin. I don't know what to say anymore I have lamented over and over how you do not win the big game. I think the stat now he's like 1 in or 1 in 17 Uh, all time in conference, I believe that's against like non Ohio state, not Michigan, but then like one in 24 with them. It's like the dude just doesn't win big games. Just can't get over the hump. And I
Syrian Geopolitical Developments
00:22:59
Speaker
can't see him doing it to SMU here. SMU was a solid.
00:23:02
Speaker
dollar team and I think they're going to pull this upset. and Moving on, Ohio State will host the volunteers. Look at Tennessee. Shout out volunteers from the state of Tennessee where I reside currently. Shout out those volunteers. They are going to go into Ohio State. That's going to be a tough one.
00:23:23
Speaker
That's going to be a tough one. Ohio State is a tough place to play. I believe the Tennessee quarterback, you know, Nikko Ayamaya-Lieva. He's still young. ah Yeah, you like how I pronounced that? Shout out my Ohana in Hawaii, my family out there when I was out there. But anyways, I think Ohio State pulls the victory on this one. And then finally, you got Hot Take Jake's Texas Longhorns. Shout out my my boy Hot Take Jake from the bottom line sports. Taking
00:23:50
Speaker
or as I said Clemson didn't really prove themselves to me at all. i take cle I take Texas in that one. Not going to go through the rest of the bracket now. Let's see how that shakes out and I'll get back to that in a future episode, but that is your updated college football playoff and brackets.
00:24:09
Speaker
Uh, as of this moment, also all of the ball games are out. I'm not going to go through all of that. Cause there's like 40 bowl games. and If you want to go look, just look it up. Uh, cause that would take forever, but they are already out as well. So if you're Alma mater had six wins throughout the season, Hey, go check out where you'll be playing. Maybe you want to make a trip. Like I know Iowa and Missouri are playing in the music city bowl. I always check out who's playing in Nashville, just in case I want to see the game.
00:24:35
Speaker
ah Not a game. I'm gonna want to see I won't be there anyways cuz I'll be going to the Gaylord in DC for New Year's Eve shout-out Club review the combat G We will be there signing autographs and may even do a free Podcast from the Gaylord. So if you want to go meet up with us at big night DC You're getting free promotion big night out DC should help us out But anyways, we will be there moving on before we do

00:25:13
Speaker
Bob, did you did say this earlier and I do want to address this before we do move on. ah He said because the college football playoffs refuse strength of schedule or strength of record, which is what those acronyms are, then the SEC must lead. Why should the SEC put up with that? um The SEC championship playoff, tons of NIL money and the bonuses, no committee. Okay, while in theory, I think this is ah Great right because the SEC as I talked about earlier when they're gonna form these two super conferences They will essentially be on their own, but let's be completely honest Bob while the SEC could create their own college football playoffs out of their Conference as we know with all the tough teams that are in there It wouldn't be as great first of all because
00:25:55
Speaker
going to have a lot of the lower teams in the conference, including my ah Vanderbilt, where I taught where i just thought that they would be getting into those playoffs where you really want to see the better games. And I think that this playoff racket, the way it shook out was perfect now bob is getting into exactly what i want to say before we move on though is that alabama was the seed pushed out and that's what he's getting at alabama came in at number 13 even though they were three and one against top 25 opponents um this is you know obviously uh uh
00:26:32
Speaker
you know the ACC got two teams in with SMU and with Clemson, which I can see upsetting SEC fans. um But again, I think this is something where the committee was smart to get ahead of it. Why do I say that? Why get three SEC teams in? You're already letting Uh, two in you could, uh, uh, what a great word for a Puerto Rican on a live TV show. Shout out my boy, Conan. I hope you're doing well. My brother blessings. And I hope you get better soon. Uh, but I would have saw the concerns by putting into ACC teams because the ACC was complaining. They weren't in the top four. Okay. Here take two teams and we'll put Alabama out, which then takes the, Oh, we're giving proper premier treatment to Alabama or to the powerhouses or to the blue bloods. Right.
00:27:19
Speaker
And they so in my eyes, this was a three pronged victory for the college football subcommittee. ah playoff committee. First of all, they got it out of the way with Group of Five. Boys and States in, no Group of Five team can ever complain again. They already got their buy. Two ACC teams were put into a sarge their concerns of not getting one of the buys and Alabama was eliminated. So you eliminate that bias that you're going towards blue bloods or powerhouses and you make yourself look a little, you know, charitable to the ACC by allowing them to have two teams.
00:27:53
Speaker
uh in the playoff at the expense of the better team let's be completely honest alabama is a better team than both smu and clemson and bob is right if it were me i'd be pissed too if i were scc and i actually thought alabama was going to get in i called them to get in over the loser of this game and i i don't think they made the i don't think in terms of strength the football team or the better football team that they made the right decision but in terms of how they wanna be perceived going into the future in in in terms of fairness and equity and all these other things that people usually complain about, they knocked it out the park, home run. Thank you Bob for tuning in and thank you everybody else for tuning in. I really appreciate it, man. We've got so many of y'all out there watching right now. This is definitely ah probably the most I've ever had on my seventh episode. We just keep it moving up in numbers. So I appreciate if you share this.
00:28:46
Speaker
with your people out there. So let's go ahead and move on before we bring in our special guest here around 745. I'm almost got done through the news, but I want to get into U.S. news and world news. Wow. Y'all, there are two stories out right now which have captivated the United States. The first one is the manhunt for the suspect in the shooting of United Healthcare care CEO Brian Thompson.
00:29:14
Speaker
I mean, if you if you have you ever heard about this, you're you're living under a rock or you don't watch the news, which is okay. The news is all bad stuff anyway, so I don't really suggest that most people watch it. Anyways, I try to limit my consumption, but this definitely has been a crazy story. So what happened? A few days ago, Brian Thompson walking to a conference, a healthcare conference, he's the CEO of United Healthcare, care one of the biggest healthcare organizations in the United States. All of a sudden, it's kind of like the dark early morning hours, right? It's still not light outside.
00:29:46
Speaker
Could it do, runs up, silencer, boom, shoots him in the back, takes off. My favorite part, took off on an electric bike or electric scooter, tremendous, love it. I will get on this fool for a reason. He was clearly, he's clearly not a criminal. You can tell. And we'll get into who who the suspect is. They actually announced today. So you're going to get breaking news of who the suspect is in just a second. But you can tell he wasn't a criminal.
00:30:13
Speaker
um And he he has no no criminal background the person who's suspect but you can tell because he did so many things wrong Dropped his cell phone dropping a backpack like just leaving trails everywhere pulling down your mask in front of cameras like Trying to get away on like electric slow vehicle like he just did so many things wrong. You know, he's not a criminal He was just a an everyday American that is fed up with the way that healthcare care is in this country. And he's not the only one. Now, I do not advocate for murder at all. Killing another person is completely wrong. And this should not have happened. And it sucks that it happened at all. And it it more sucks that it necessarily happened to one single person when there's so many people with blood on their hands in this situation. But that is the problem.
00:31:05
Speaker
So many people have blood on their hands in this. And many of them are the CEOs and CFOs and CMOs and other officers and executive officers of these health care companies companies. Does that mean I think no, no one should be hurt at all. But we have to have reform in the health care industry. There are too many Americans and you've seen the videos come out if you've been paying attention to this story.
00:31:29
Speaker
everyday Americans who are just their their grandmother, grandmother didn't get the end of life coverage she needed for a hospice. Their baby who was two years old, they wouldn't even pay for like, orthotics or new shoes, um just all these horrible stories of these insurance companies who by the way,
00:31:48
Speaker
charge an arm and a leg for insurance pro premiums, co pays and the like to then screw over these same people is it's completely unacceptable as well. And we need reform in the healthcare care industry. I don't know what that means. I'm not the person that is an expert in this sort of thing. ah But
00:32:10
Speaker
There's a lot of pros and cons for free healthcare. Yes, there would be a lot longer wait for the healthcare that you may need to get, but it's also free. So again, there's pros and cons to how any of that, and I know that's probably a little too extreme to be accepted in the United States at this point in time, but we need to at least get something, a lot more subsidized ah insurance and help for people that need help. How are we supposed to get healthier in America if we don't even give people the tools and resources and funds that they need to stay healthy?
00:32:40
Speaker
And then we're feeding people full of processed food and all this other stuff sugars. And don't get me wrong. I am a sugar at addict. ah I would eat any candy, cake. That's why I'm so fat and I have to go to the gym all the time because I eat too much damn sugar. It's addicting. That's why. And we are not healthy in this company. We need reform. So let's get into who the suspect is. CNN just broke the news reporting that and I'm sorry brother Luigi Mangione I'm not sorry because I mispronounced his name and um I don't mean to it's not a funny story but he looked like a Luigi anybody you saw the picture of him he looked like a Luigi right you look like a like a very handsome Italian gentleman he looked like a Luigi I mean that might be stereotypical but it is what it is um
00:33:28
Speaker
Anyways Apparently the gun was also possibly 3d printed so now we can 3d print guns that are just gonna be able to kill pit This is getting crazy out here. We really need gun reform as well But anyways, apparently he printed this ghost gun on a 3d machine and also they found the manifesto Well, they found the gun on him Remember when I told you he made a lot of mistakes he decided to stop at a McDonald's to eat Oh You're on the lamb. You're on you are on the run
00:34:00
Speaker
A public place, my friend. McDonald's, no less. I mean, at least go to a restaurant where somebody might not see you or know McDonald's son. Okay. You know what? I've got, he was clearly not a criminal. He had no criminal background history. He left a note saying, sorry for any, you know, stress this caused or whatever. um But it's shocking. And Americans have had their say. A lot of Americans, you know, they're not,
00:34:29
Speaker
advocating but they're saying well you know you let my grandma die you let my kid die you let this happen why should i feel bad for you sort of thing and again i don't agree with that i don't think that's right um we should not be amplifying violent rhetoric within this country um but a lot of these people in the healthcare care industry and especially executives have blood on their hands and there's nothing there's no there's no way anyone could argue that whatsoever So whether we need to make sure the Affordable Care Act is continued on and that, you know, Trump can't repeal that because that's a big thing for all Americans or, um you know, health care policy changes, ah you know, ah just any certain things that we can do to try to make it easier and more affordable to get health care. If we want to keep our our people alive and healthy, doesn't that only make sense?
00:35:18
Speaker
anyways wow what a crazy story another crazy story manhattan jury on december 9th a couple days or today actually like just this morning acquitted daniel penny of criminally negligent homicide so you all may be saying oh wow what's this story about so last year Daniel Penney, who's a former, he's ah he's a veteran, former military member, ah was on the subway. Jordan Neely, a mentally ill homeless man, ah ran onto the subway and started threatening people, saying that he was gonna start killing people or that someone was going to die. um So there was a huge case about this because what happened was when he did that, Daniel Penney put him in a choke hold.
00:36:06
Speaker
um and did not release the choke-hold, unfortunately, until the man was already dead, pretty much. um Now, when they came to the scene, he had a pulse, but he wasn't breathing when the police got there.
00:36:22
Speaker
What happened on Friday, the judge decided to dismiss the top charge of manslaughter in the second degree when the jury couldn't ree re but bear reach ah unanimous decision after three days of deliberation they couldn't come to an agreement so ah the judge dismissed the man shot <unk>ter charge foot there was still a criminally negligent civil charge um And so the jury came to not guilty on this when it was announced. Cheers erupted in the courtroom, nearly supporters, family and friends did not had a much different reaction as would you imagine. Enraged, two people had to be removed.
00:37:06
Speaker
um This is a hard one, right? Yes, obviously if someone is coming on to threaten people and they look like they may do that person needs to be that threat needs to be sub subdued, right? that and That threat needs to be taken away and Daniel Penney did this and he could have saved possibly many many lives. Shout out to him for that, right? The other side of this I work with the homeless population if one of my One of my biggest things that I think we need to get rid of in this country is homelessness and mental health is another huge thing of mine. So working with mentally ill homeless people, as I do already, I know that a lot of times their actions may not be of all sound mind. I am not excusing anything like this. And I've seen this plenty of times. I saw this the other day, a girl at one of the events I was doing was threatening everybody because she just got a, you know, an episode. Uh,
00:38:03
Speaker
But at the same time, especially as a military man and a veteran, you have to know how to control yourself. And you have to know if you're choking someone, someone could die. And after he's already unconscious, it doesn't make sense to keep going. Like once he's already fallen asleep, like not even the UFC is going to let you keep going. Like the rep is going to stop you. And when it came to that point, and he's not dead, but he's unconscious.
00:38:26
Speaker
Maybe you want to let go right? I'm just look I'm not again not defending the actions of The mentally ill homeless man. He was wrong in what he did. Daniel penny was correct in subduing the threat and saving lives Just got to be more careful in The way that that's done because you could avoid killing and maybe he's no he wasn't a bad person Maybe he was just a mentally ill homeless person having a bad episode. Did they really deserve to die? I just food for thought. Anyways, ah you know, again, I'm glad he saved lives and I'm glad he got acquitted, but this, that sort of thing can't continue because then anyone can go out and choke anyone even if they're not causing a threat.
00:39:07
Speaker
All right, a couple more news stories and we are gonna bring in our special guest and he is gonna actually help us to talk about these two news stories that we have ah coming up. So I'm not gonna go into depth on them right now since we're about to talk with it with him, but I do wanna briefly ah broach the topics here. Again, thank you all for tuning in. Wow, we've got a lot of people here. Make sure you send it in those comments if you have anything. What do you all think about those cases? Anybody have any thoughts about the,
00:39:36
Speaker
the either the ah homeless manslaughter case or the the Daniel Penny case or the United Healthcare shooting. These are some crazy things. I'd love to hear your thoughts or any questions you may have. I've done research so I can try to help if you have any questions. Also hit that like button or that love button. Maybe the last button. Don't forget the last button. I'm pretty funny, ain't I? Pretty funny looking. ah ah ah ah I'm just in a really very silly mood today. All right, let's keep it moving. We don't need to be silly about this. Everything's very serious now All right moving on to some more news in the United States ah Donald Trump had an NBC interview which again we will talk about here in a second with our with our guest political strategist Amul Madan ah so Trump did an NBC News interview this weekend and he got into many topics including on the economy, immigration, and all these other policies that he is planning to put into effect. So let's go through a couple of things he said. First, he said that he will allow Jerome Powell to continue as US's top economic policymaker. So as the fed ah as the head, excuse me,
00:40:47
Speaker
of the federal reserve. So Jerome Powell will remain there through the end of his term in 2026, which was is is what was not thought was going to happen because Donald Trump had so many issues.
00:41:02
Speaker
um with jerome powell within the within the first his first term he actually said jerome powell was more of a threat to the economy than china no i mean but you know trump says reckless stuff about everybody in the world so that ain't nothing new Um, yep. I'll send you the link in just a second. I got the chat up once i'm done interviewing these topics I will send it over and go ahead and jump actually i'm gonna send it to you right now I just sent it jump in and if you want to add your instagram or facebook You can do that at the top with the edit button. I'll let you uh, i'll bring you in in just a second. All right
00:41:35
Speaker
So again, that means that right the person that has been in charge of the economy will stay. So at least we will have some sort of carry over and security in terms of changing of administrations and what might happen with the economy. He also talked tariffs, tax cuts, and immigration on tariffs. He answered that he when asked if the proposed tariffs, if he could promise Americans that the proposed tariffs would not cause prices to rise, he said that he cannot guarantee anything.
00:42:05
Speaker
And anyone who was stupid enough to believe his claims within the campaign that he ran where he said that terrorists were not going to raise prices. Well, you should just basic to go read ah up on some basic economics, because that is simply supply and demand.
00:42:23
Speaker
Um, and if you put a tariff on products on the supply of products coming into our country from another country Well, either a that demand is going Well, first of all the prices are going to get raised which is exactly what's gonna happen prices are going to be caused passed on to american consumers Especially those of you who love avocados good thing. I hate avocado. I don't have to worry about that price about to go up on them things But anyways, um Right. You're also going to have the demand increase or decrease rather. So now you're causing issues to the supply chain. um You know, hey I, I knew that when he first said it, I was like, that's not a good idea, but it is what it is. He's going to try to do it. And you know, I, I, I truly hope that he is able to do it. Nothing else.
00:43:13
Speaker
If nothing else, make the economy better since he is a businessman and dealt with a lot of money in his life, I would hope at least he could do that. um Anyways, he will also aim to extend his tax cuts. We talked about these tax cuts last ah episode that Amul was on. um And we remember, we talked about the figures on this. Most of the tax cuts will go to the rich and wealthy, the people making over $1 million dollars a year, $250,000 a year. For the average American family, your taxes will only be cut by $1,000.
00:43:48
Speaker
So, you know, shout out to you for voting for, you know, the rich getting richer. I mean, it's what happens in this country. We're in America. If you can lobby yourself to make more money, ah you're going to be able to do it. So it is what it is. um On immigration, now this is a very sticky one with both sides of the aisle, but Trump reiterated his pledge to carry out mass deportations on illegal immigrants, um despite the pleas of industries such as construction and agriculture. um And you might you might ask, why would they would those industries be complaining about a mass deportation?
00:44:26
Speaker
Well, because a lot of people that work in those industries are immigrants, whether legal or illegal. And um taking those people away is going to be a huge hit to our economy. First of all, it's going to cost countless of billion dollars to even enact this kind of deportation. ah But then if he was successful in doing that, a lot of jobs are going to go unfilled because there's going to be a lot of people sent back that were doing jobs that most people don't want to do.
00:44:55
Speaker
If anybody knows me, I don't do manual labor. You ain't gonna find me picking up a hammer, a paintbrush, a slab of wood. You ain't gonna find me doing nothing like that. I work on a computer. I don't care if you think I'm soft, I'm not. And if you wanna come put them, duke didn'tmate let me stop before I get a little crazy. No, for real though, I don't do manual labor. I have no desire to do that much work and get paid that little.
00:45:23
Speaker
ah now Some jobs, obviously harder jobs, more dangerous jobs, more ah specialized jobs. They get paid more so they can, you know, they can attract talent that may want to do those jobs. But a lot of those jobs are jobs that most people don't want to do and most Americans don't want to do. Let's be honest with you, right?
00:45:44
Speaker
So, um, and then, uh, possibly eliminating birthright citizenship. So anyone born in the United States would, uh, not be considered a U S immigrant, which are U S citizen, excuse me, which has been enshrined into the constitution since the 14th amendment. I can't see that happening. There's going to be a lot of legal challenges to that. I don't know that the Supreme court would let that happen. We will ask a mole when we bring them on in just a second, which we will do right now. After I introduced this final topic, world news, biggest news in the world right now, if We did not hear last night today Syrian opposition rebel forces have Captured the city of Damascus and they have toppled and took over the regime of Bashar al-Assad This is huge y'all huge he has been a dictator in charge of Syria for 50 plus years his family has been in charge and
00:46:40
Speaker
wow wow imagine this is like kim jong-un or putin in russia being overthrown right that's what this type of move is this is seismic uh earthquake kind of kind of news um so what happened ah Well, a Syrian group ah called Hayat Tahir al-Sham and their leader Abu Muhammad al-Golani He actually established this group as a part of an as an Al Qaeda affiliate in 2012 fighting US forces But eventually throughout the years he actually which is weird because I've never really I mean I have before but it's more when people are coerced by the other government into into changing sides and But this guy like somehow became an activist from a terrorist and started supporting um you know religious freedoms and pluralism and equality and these other things. Now, we'll see if he actually is about that or if it was all just talk. um But the fact that he has ah the they have been able to take over the country
00:47:51
Speaker
Diabolical work and it started a week ago And now they're going to try to build Syria up into a more accepting community is what they say again I don't know how serious he is about that But if he can do that, they seem to be very happy in Syria today a lot of the people um So we'll see what happens with that, but stunning, stunning news. It is estimated the Syrian Action Network, which is a um ah human rights network in Syria, estimates that at a minimum Assad has been responsible for the deaths of over 200,000 Syrians.
00:48:27
Speaker
that's ah That's some Saddam Hussein level type, uh, uh, nihilistic murder. So, um, wow. Wow. Crazy. So y'all, yeah, that's a ah bit of craziness going on in the world. If you were not aware of any of those U.S. or world new subjects, then I am happy to have helped you out there to keep you informed.
00:48:50
Speaker
and hopefully you enjoyed ah you know the the episode today. If you have any comments, please throw them in the chat. I'm happy to answer any questions. Again, I'm happy to... um you know talk about anything that anyone wants to talk about in terms of what we talked about today. ah So while we're waiting on our guest Amul Madan to jump in, I'm going to go ahead and I was going to do the rankings, the sports rankings after ah he joined us, but he's not here yet. And that's okay. I sent him the link just a couple of minutes ago. So that'd be my fault. um So let's go ahead and jump into the, ah it's okay. We can get the rankings knocked out right now.

00:54:07
Speaker
In my main league, our very, very, very expensive league, where the top prize is $2,500, ah ah we ah I need clutch Cleveland to, he's playing a guy who has burrow and chase. So again, I just need them to play really bad tonight, sorry, not actively rooting against y'all, but y'all need to do horrible tonight, because I need to win my fantasy leagues and make that money.
00:54:34
Speaker
Alright, that being said, let's go ahead and bring in our special guest friend of the show. You've seen him here before and um And obviously he is very well versed in politics, news and things like that. So and being a Nationals fan, he's well versed in Juan Soto. So I figured this would be a perfect episode to bring him back and get some of his opinions. He is our political strategist, Amul Madara.
00:55:05
Speaker
What is going on, brother? How is it going? on brother you up I'm good, man. Go ahead and move that camera down a little bit so we can see that beautiful face. All I'm getting is your forehead. There we go. Look at that. Wearing a plaid shirt like you're a lumberjack in in in the the Smoky Mountains out here. really i'm just We were talking about chopping it up, and so I was like, let me dress like a lumberjack.
00:55:30
Speaker
you know I mean, I'm not mad at that. I'm not mad at that at all. We had a good time chopping it up this past weekend. I didn't introduce you. As I said, I was going to the worst mini golf player ever, but that's okay. I'll just throw in a little shot there on the end. All right. One bad game, everyone one. And this is what happens.
00:55:53
Speaker
ah Let me go ahead and explain what one get bad game means. y'all We went out and played some mini golf this weekend to meet up old friends, old times, a little group of us. And on the first, but second hole of the mini golf, and remember, this is a kid's mini golf. It's definitely not difficult at all. Like you have to be a baby to like miss these shots. And so there's just a ramp, a simple ramp. All you have to do is hit it up the ramp and get it through this pretty wide area.
00:56:22
Speaker
Well, Mr. Amul ended up hitting the side of the glass, which is only about yea thick. Not once, not twice, not three times.
00:56:34
Speaker
but four times to the point where he had to cheat and grab the ball with his hand and roll it up the ramp. Y'all, I have never seen something so ubiquitous, so ridiculous, so ludicrous, so many other isses and usses. I can say it was ah it was a disgrace. It was an abomination. It hurt my heart. And I don't know why I invited you on the show, to be honest. don't know why.
00:57:02
Speaker
ah but Okay, while he gathers his bearings, because it's going to take at least 10 minutes, let me explain something to you all. Like, you know, I work a lot, and you know, sometimes things happen, do you know, it just, you don't have a, you don't have as decent of a mini golf game as you thought you might. And that's sort of where we're going to leave it, or until over once to rasp me about it a little bit more, and then we We can talk about, you know, other things like his the love of Taylor Swift or I don't know, what can I rescue about these days? Nothing! I do love you Taylor Swift. We shot at her out earlier in the episode. You were after me.
00:57:48
Speaker
Hey, everybody knows about the diabolical, savage rhymes of the street. Yes, I do. Yeah. Still on par with KRS1, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, and the likes of all the ah Golden Era hip-hop. Oh, what is up, my brother? Wow, Karmar, my man. Y'all make sure you tap in with IOW Sports Network and specific Uh, my boy wildcard Marr, he goes live all the time. He puts out so much content. Um, so if you are a, uh, a sports fan, you definitely want to check them out because he, as he likes to claim and as I like to completely agree with, uh, works, uh, very, very hard. I'm not going to say that the stereotypical nature of something that we may have, uh, uh, used to say a person that works, uh, many jobs, but, uh, I'm going to leave that to the off channels between us, but shout out to my brother. y off top
00:58:44
Speaker
all right cool well again i brought you on obviously some specific topics to talk about today that were um you know very important obviously the news has been very big this weekend and in the three uh breaking topics are three topics uh in tune to acutely aware of um so first just so i can rub it in your face a little bit little bit of one signing to yeah i New York Mets. He turned down your nationals a long time ago and my Red Sox when you broke up with you like Taylor Swift breaks up with an ex-boyfriend on a love song. Well, I don't I don't I need you to explain yourself and how national fans feel please. Well, I just it's icky but I do have a bobblehead.
00:59:38
Speaker
a sort of bobblehead, if you want. um And i I'll we can talk about pricing and everything offline, because, you know, I know how how ah that how contentious that can be. But I do have one in the, you know, over there in the apartment. But it's icky. It's along the lines with what Bryce Harper did. And did it have to be the man's like,
01:00:07
Speaker
Okay, I have a question for you, actually, if it's okay.
01:00:14
Speaker
Why are the Mets so bent on Bobby Benign? Like, they had Bobby Benign. They're paying them until 2035. So, like, now you're paying Soto until 2039? Like, do the Mets just really love long-term contracts? Like, what it was the the deal there?
01:00:43
Speaker
I think we're frozen, ladies and gentlemen. I think we're frozen.
01:00:52
Speaker
So since we're frozen, I'll just go into a monologue. Are you there? You're talking on mute. If you're... I mean, I'll happily take it over your show. I'm fine with that. Yeah, he's on mute, ladies and gentlemen.
01:01:09
Speaker
Anyway, that's the one thing that I wanted to ask was, you know, the Mets have Bobby Bell, which is great. Good for them. They're paying them until 2035. But now it's like you got Soto. What's going to happen and there? Now we're back. Now we're back.
01:01:30
Speaker
Yeah. John, we know he's frozen. Yeah. Not bad. I'm not lost of an internet. No, no, that's okay. That's fine. I don't mind taking over your show since you're doing what I was doing in college. So, you know, did you hear any of what I said at all? Or was it frozen the whole time?
01:02:03
Speaker
Of course, it's frozen. Okay. so labor to hear you i they wouldn't able to move oh Okay. Okay. i Got you. Got you. Okay. Cause I was going to talk about how you were going to, um, as people, you know, subscribe and they like your, your podcast, we'll just come visit them. ah good please talk What was that Omar?
01:02:36
Speaker
This is awkward. So anyway, um, here on the show I think you wanted me to, to shut through a little, you good? I'm going to just keep going. So hear me I'll start um chairman with the United healthcare issue. Yeah, I can hear you. I can hear you.
01:03:00
Speaker
OK, yeah, if I freeze, just keep going. For some reason, we're having a little bit of internet issues here. I don't know if it's because it's raining outside. But anyway, if i if I get frozen, keep going. You've got to expand your your wide area access network, sir. um um But I wanted to to, before I jump into the United Health Care thing, I wanted to bring up something on TikTok. I mentioned this on the YouTube show ah just earlier this evening, where I was talking about Frank McCourt. Frank McCourt was on.
01:03:30
Speaker
my my as I like to affectionately refer to her as, my life. Margaret Brennan, she's the host of Face the Nation. And he was talking about how for those that are in the IT community, they've already built out a stack that allows ah US users from TikTok to basically keep and keep their data. ah The algorithm, I don't think changes, but if it goes the direction that it does where it gets banned,
01:04:00
Speaker
they're ready and willing and able to move everyone over. um Let it get banned. like i'm not very say that i'm up for I was on TikTok for a while, but like because of what the Chinese are doing, it's just, you know it would be easier if it was American made, in my opinion. And if Frank McCourt has a tech stack,
01:04:28
Speaker
that is ready, willing, and able, why not use it? To the United Health Care issue that I know you wanted to talk about. I've got a couple notes since you and I messaged right before this. I don't think you mentioned, because I was watching part or i was watching earlier,
01:04:48
Speaker
ah the Magione is the cousin of Republican Baltimore County delegate. I'm looking on my second screen now. Nino Mangione. So he's based out of Baltimore. Yeah, yeah so he's he's local. He's Towson, Towson, Maryland. So if you're in if you're in Towson, Maryland tonight, hide your kids, hide your life. Sorry, that's in middle school, Jeff. No, it's hilarious. Do you have ah ah headphones? Because I'm hearing an echo on your end.
01:05:36
Speaker
Okay, cool. All right, while he's doing that, y'all, yeah, that's crazy, right? So now he's giving us breaking news that this suspect of the UHC case, United Healthcare case, is now related to a politician in Baltimore. So things get deeper, more of a tangled webs that we're weaving here within this story. This is a crazy story, y'all, for real. If you have not been following this wild. So we're hoping to get some more breaking news Um as well on this uh when amul joins us again, but again, thank you for tuning in. Make sure you're subscribed to ball and buds b-a-l-l-a-n-d b-u-d-s That handy qr code up on the right side of the screen up there If you scan in that that'll take us to all our links you can uh, subscribe to our youtube and follow our instagram Uh, so again, we have amul madon political strategist with us today. Uh, we're talking about
01:06:27
Speaker
ah the United Health Care case, the murder ah suspect on the hunt. And we have a suspect breaking news, again, reported just a couple ah minutes ago, was just about an hour ago, CNN reported that the suspect is named Luigi Mangione. um And so he is the suspect at large.
01:06:49
Speaker
so and so we're getting actual updates right now including that he is related ah to politicians which is goingnna make this story so much more crazy and just the fact that again he wasn't even a criminal right he is a regular everyday american something happened along the way Somebody in his family didn't get the coverage they needed maybe including himself Whatever is the case something drove an average American with no criminal Backgrounding no prior criminal history to commit a murder Do you know how many mental hurdles it takes in your mind? I mean, I don't know I've never killed anybody but I'm assuming in order to kill somebody you've got to jump over a lot of mental hurdles and You've got to do a lot of convincing of your own psyche that what you're doing is actually the right thing. And this guy, as many Americans are, were so fed up with the healthcare care industry that he decided it was time to take things into his own hands. They found a manifesto written by him, a two-page manifesto.
01:08:03
Speaker
decrying the healthcare industry and all the bad things that it does, and all the ways that it doesn't help American citizens. And he ended it with, I'm sorry if this causes any strife or division, but it had to be done. He was feeling like he was taking this on for all Americans that have been aggrieved ah in the adjudication process, or, you know, the many different ah forms and investigations and things that have to happen when filing claims or submitting things to health insurance companies. Now you got to deal with the AI actually accepting or denying your claim. AI is great for a lot of things, y'all. I'm a digital marketer. I teach my students how to use AI. I use AI for my marketing, for my clients every day.
01:08:58
Speaker
But AI doesn't need to be used for everything. It really, really doesn't. And sometimes you need that human touch. And just like in marketing or digital marketing where you can have the AI create copy for you or create content for you, you still got to have a human eye to look over it, to edit it. You still have to, um we'll bring him back on when he gets back in. I'll bring him back in. You still have to be able to give it that human touch. And now with the healthcare industry as it is, if you're having AI accepting and denying applications and not actually giving people a person to think about, okay, well, maybe during this circumstance, the baby is two years old, they're growing,
01:09:38
Speaker
very fast they need ah footwear or orthotics i just remember this story because the lady she did a tick tock and she was like my kid was too and they wouldn't pay for his shoes and because that he was growing too fast was their excuse that i'm like wow that's crazy now obviously she is telling this story so i have to believe her for what she's saying but these she's not the only one with that story and there's plenty of those another person um was saying how they couldn't get end of life care or hospice care For their mother who was an elderly woman and needed that care like that's crazy. We should not be depriving our people um or denigrating our our our community our our Our people we are we are together in this as a nation. We are a family and ah You know, we need to help each other out when it comes to the health of of the the country at large um Healthcare care is a very very big problem
01:10:35
Speaker
So that's about all that that really needs to be said about that is there needs to be reform. Now, again, no advocating for murder on any point ah for anyone. um So again, here's the mole back. We're going to bring him back on to continue our conversation. Appreciate that, brother. Yeah, there's an echo. If you don't wear headphones, it's not you. It's anybody that doesn't wear headphones. um So I appreciate that because I could hear myself on your end. um But anyway, um can you can you hear me now? Can you hear me now? we go Still an echo or no? Okay, good. Nope, but continue on where you were. So I was just saying that, and I found it funny, like, I watched the, I'm the, I'm the, I'm, hmm, okay, I'm doing what Omer did earlier. Oh, let me back up, find my words. ah Sunday mornings, I like to, you know, just relax and unwind and was watching the news.
01:11:32
Speaker
And then today I'm a huge fan of the beat by R.A. Melberg, mostly because he mixes in rap lyrics into the news whenever he wants to. And he had several people on talking about ah how Mangione was related to Nino Mangione. They didn't get into any of the particulars. They didn't want to do that because they pivoted hard to Syria, which I'd love to touch on with you here in a few minutes.
01:11:59
Speaker
But I just found it to be very interesting as things come out. I do want to also say this. I echo your sentiment. There are a lot of issues with health care in this country. You do not need to gun down a CEO. If you do, then you will face justice. that's what That's the way this country works. Like you can't do that. I'm not going to advocate for treating CEOs. That's not what I'm here for.
01:12:27
Speaker
um We're in an age where, I'm not going to give you the whole spiel, but we're in an age where a lot of people are being disrespected. And in some cases it's warranted. it You know, you're but there are a lot of keyboard warriors, but if you're talking about violence towards a CEO, there's a reason why a lot of CEOs now are backstepping on how they want to talk to the public. There's a reason why, you know,
01:12:58
Speaker
a lot of CEOs are just this TFOs, like you were talking about earlier, just want to rethink things. Because what happened was tragic. ah You know, unfortunately, we live in a time where that something like that can happen. And you know, it's really sad that he passed away, but I wanna say this too. It would have been better for him to to go up to the CEO, start a conversation, tap him on the shoulder, stand next to him and say, hey, how you doing? Let me shake your hand. Let's talk about things amicably as opposed to resorting to violence. um A lot of good things can be had, can be found, can be gained when you when you solve them amicably nowadays.
01:13:52
Speaker
um And, you know, I just, it's a very sad day in that regard. And so what else? I would love to. like che What kind of health care? I didn't mean to interrupt you. I thought you were done. I apologize. What kind of health care reform? No, that's fine. I was just beginning to go on. No, you're good. What kind of health care reforms can we look at? it So what are the options here?
01:14:25
Speaker
Well, I'm glad you asked because, uh, since I'm basically yourre your, your, uh, your James Parville at this point, uh, and for those that watch the beat, they'll, they'll understand that reference. but Um, a lot of PBMs, pharmacy benefit, uh, manufacturers basically fund things nowadays. So it'd be a good idea.
01:14:52
Speaker
possibly to like change the way they do things. Now, that's just the beginnings of a plan. It's not a plan that I'm going to go ahead and enact. I am not 47. We have a guy that's filling that role. He's getting inaugurated in January, but I would change things up there.
01:15:12
Speaker
um and make it so that it's easier to see a doctor. It's easier to get in it's you when you need to. It costs less to have kids in this country. I read a stat somewhere that um it's like anywhere from four to six rand to have a kid. Unless you have hotel, unless you have but hotel, hospital connections, you will be spending four to six grand. just and ah We're not just talking,
01:15:42
Speaker
having the kid, you're talking like the stay, you know, ah the procedures, all of that. So I would say change starts from the top. It starts from ah somebody who is leading HHS who actually knows what they're doing. I don't know if the candidate incoming candidate for HHS ah necessarily does, but, um you know, maybe we'll we'll hash that out over McDonald's because that's what he likes nowadays.
01:16:14
Speaker
So um yes, it's definitely going to be a talk going forward, especially with the. him nominating R.K. Jr. for the Health and Services Director. um Obviously, we know that he has espoused some counter views, let's say. I'm not going to say that they're completely, you know, batshit crazy, but ah there are some people that would say that some of his policies could be on the on the side of extreme.
01:16:52
Speaker
Um, when we could go and we could get all into that and then we will next in 2025. Once he gets, once he's coming up to be inaugurated, I'm going to bring you back on so we can talk about his cabinet in depth, but i now to yeah i'd be happy to.
01:17:06
Speaker
Yeah, for now, for now, we'll just say that ah RFK Junior is a controversial ah choice. But the fact remains that the health care industry in this country needs needs overhaul, needs reformation. And if it takes someone, you know, a little off the wall to do it, um well, then so be it. And that's kind of where I'm at now with the whole Donald Trump presidency in general is I'm really hoping for the best.
01:17:32
Speaker
I'm hoping that he can say you know make sure that the economy continues on an upward trajectory, that we're able to ah you know bring down the you know the the unemployment rate a little further, um bring up the GDP, bring inflation down a little bit, um maybe at least put some guardrails in place on immigration. I don't agree with Matt's deportation that I definitely do not agree with, but at least some sort of guardrails now.
01:17:57
Speaker
i don't know have either you Yeah, yeah and or I'm not. I'm not exactly at this point. Hopeful because I know that that his that Donald Trump's first term he did talk a lot of, you know, and boost up a lot of things that he never actually got done.
01:18:15
Speaker
um So again, we just have to hold out that maybe this time around He's able to make substantive change or at least he cares enough to because he knows he's not gonna have another chance after these four years um What are your sentiments? All right, but he's he's right about your own power. Okay, so good I say Okay, so the whole JP thing, don't get me wrong, I love Jerome Powell. I think he's great. But here's the thing that a lot of people don't understand. When JP talks, the markets move. So if you have a portfolio, if you're fortunate enough to have a 401k, or you and are invested in stocks, even crypto, ah you know, when he comes out, and he's about to drop a mixtape, as my friends like and I like to say, ah you know,
01:19:08
Speaker
Just hold on to your butts, basically. Thank you, Samuel L. But ah basically, whatever he says moves the market up and down, and that affects everything else. Savings rates ah go down. but he says When he's talking about bringing things down to 2%, an inflation rate down to 2%, or what he thinks is appropriate,
01:19:30
Speaker
um savings rates come down with that. CD rates come down with that. I think also homeowner home loan rates come down with that as well, but I think that might be slower. I'd have to look into that and get back to you on that.
01:19:44
Speaker
But um yeah, it's when he talks, like my friends that I say, like he drops a mixtape. Like it's a lot like when um Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg were alive and either one would write a dissenting opinion. It was must it was a must read material. um and Jerome Powell, you know that he's doing well for the country. I understand where he's coming from. um But and i that's where I sort of hope that 47 is sort of yeah You know, saying it in jest that he's a menace to society. But ah I mean, he at least drinks his juice. So, you know, we're good to go there. ah But I hope for the best when it comes to Trump and his presidency.
01:20:29
Speaker
Um, um mean know I mean, medicine, medicine society has been this man's whole life, not even career. Like medicine weren't based in the hood. It would have been a documentary on Donald Trump. Um, and that, that in no way comes from any, no way comes from any place of, of.
01:20:55
Speaker
disregard or disrespect or anything. It's just the way he does business. He doesn't care about anybody but himself. And that's why a lot of people voted for him yeah this time around because he is a strong man that he's going to try. That's true. That's true. A lot of people like that. Yeah. And we have to hope for the best because that's, that's where we are right now. Obviously i hope you yeah so what do you recommend those people who who clearly do not and obviously your boy j jp understands the fed um mean it's good we'll have some kind of stability yeah but obviously tariffs were going to raise prices on the average american for goods coming from those countries they should be
01:21:40
Speaker
right can you play a little on that pattern and Sure, when tariffs are applied, we can take um cars, we can take avocados, you mentioned avocados. And um I love avocados, I know you don't, but the prices have already gone up. And that too, the um the the stock that we get at grocery stores is, I mean, I went over the weekend and they were all like, it was just a bad like, bunch of avocados, every single bunch was awful.
01:22:12
Speaker
Um, they were all like old. So it's, it's already affecting us. And that's what a lot of people don't get is that when tariffs are passed or tariffs are suggested that oftentimes it isn't right eight when the tariff is implemented. It's beforehand, a couple months beforehand. And then you just start seeing things, you know, um, my local grocery store, they still don't have brown eggs.
01:22:40
Speaker
i really I know why they don't have brown eggs because of the salmonella and all this other yeah issues that they were having out in California, I think. But, you know, they bumped up the price of eggs, a couple dollars. So it's already starting. um And it's we just have to, I hope we don't get to a point where we have to pick and choose what we have to buy at the grocery store. I hope we can get what we can't get in a reasonable price. for right but um We'll see how. yeah yeah i russian like anything Right. So it's like, yeah, the price of things, uh, you know, during the past few years, we know inflation went up and that was, so you know, over the since COVID than just one presidential administration, of course, the two. Um, it's definitely, definitely Biden too. Yeah, it's definitely Biden too. I'm not saying that,
01:23:36
Speaker
And Biden's completely in the clear. He's not. But, you know, it's just one of those things where when you announce tariffs and a lot of people don't know what tariffs are and we get news nowadays in small little bites. We're talking about TikTok earlier. You're not going to, you know, read an article that's that's, again, on my second screen or something you said or something I said to you. You know, not many people are going to take the time to actually do that.
01:24:02
Speaker
um So, you know, I think we we got to wish the best for what's happening. We have to also defend democracy to an extent. But I'm going to leave that to whoever is next in charge of the DNC, because they have a lot of thinking to do. Like it's I think there is a better chance that GTA six comes out before do the Democrats figure out a really good
01:24:33
Speaker
you know, path forward. I'll say that. I say i mean and apologize. apologize guys I apologize. I apologize. But that is a meme as most of y'all know. But you but you're completely right. And the thing is that yeah, yeah that looking it's just hard to to really judge a situation based on and only really knowing a few different viewpoints of
01:25:05
Speaker
ah people's inner lives like right we all have a certain number of bread which were really close enough to that we probably know the inner workings of their job and how much money they make and if they're doing okay and things like that and again for the majority of of people at at this point in time a lot of people have been struggling since Covid and again Covid did a number on the whole economy across the world and and and it also get a number on even stuff like immigration and and other you know topics that we need to touch on and the one that we are going to touch on now before we get out of here we're going to touch on two more topics but immigration i bring this up because trump wants to do a mass deportation of illegal immigrants but obviously this is going to face a barrage of legal challenges what do you say to this yes um
01:26:02
Speaker
The legal so challenges are going to be sound. You need three fourths of I look this up beforehand. You need three fourths of states approval to overturn the 14th Amendment. I don't think you're going to have three fourths approval. So before it even gets to the Supreme Court, you need ah you need three fourth states approval. You need the you need two thirds of Congress, ah both the House and the Senate. So that's everyone. That's not just the Republicans.
01:26:32
Speaker
So, yeah. but after time if you need you need thirty eight states Yeah, all of the yeah yeah he basically needs to play NBA, like it's like playing NBA 2K, but you're the admin of everything. Like, you know, you like it's playing God, basically. Like, you know, and you can't do that. you you I mean, I understand where hes where his head is at, but you gotta understand.
Rise of AI and Immigration Concerns
01:26:57
Speaker
Things can, switch i but I want to talk i wanted to talk to you about this.
01:27:01
Speaker
because you and I were born to raise here. I think um I know I was. But um and I know you were. But like, um it can happen to us us because things can be doctored. A.I. is huge now. So when they say they can send people back, ah this is why I've started saying a little bit with this incoming administration. sure Wish them well. Sure. But watch out for yourself.
01:27:31
Speaker
you know, not and necessarily saying put yourself first, but yeah, put yourself first, get your mind right, you know, invest in your education, do what you need to do. And hope that always going to come always going to be well in four years.
01:27:48
Speaker
Yeah and that's crazy because my mom as a government worker uh today we were just watching the news when she got home and she you know she was she's like well what if they try to deport me and I said well first of all mom we're Puerto Rican and and she's like yeah but still I wasn't in the military like you were your father like if they start to decide that people who even just territories don't aren't really are just that territories and those people need to be sent back my mom was like I might get sent back to Puerto Rico and I was like damn Now that you put it that way, that may maybe if they were able to eliminate, but again, this will take an absolute act of of of God, as you said, and that He is not. It would. gar and what As a follower of Christ. It would.
01:28:31
Speaker
It's not something. And I'm a follower of Ganesha. And I'm a follower of Ganesha. That would never happen in my opinion. Like, you know me, like with Ganesha and Krishna, it would never happen. It would never stand.
01:28:42
Speaker
but um we and we both know that's going to happen, right? But he's going to want to something with immigration. So ah eventually we're going to see how this all shakes out. ah But obviously, my my words yeah, go ahead. I heard two million. I heard two million and people on Face the Nation on Sunday.
01:29:00
Speaker
ah They had someone on, ah and yeah, at least 2 million people, most of whom, I think the guy who said it was ah was talking about day workers, those that are working on farms or working seasonally.
01:29:16
Speaker
um And I apologize if if that offends anyone the way that I brought it up. It's just something they mentioned on. they they described The guy who was talking described it as that. um So those would be the two million people who they're looking at deporting.
01:29:32
Speaker
so yeah the the jobs that normal Americans are going to want to do no normal Americans want to go out and work in the field picking corn and or shucking corn or whatever they do uh you know mowing fields um being a maid at a hotel how many Americans want to be a maid at a hotel not not very many i can tell you that right Okay, and that includes me. I don't want to do any of these things. I'm not saying this about any certain race or anything. I'm saying this about Americans in general, because we are lazy as an American people, and we have we don't want to do jobs that are giving me that labor intent. It just is what it is. Yeah, of course not. Yeah, of course not. um and And we'll see how things play out. We have to wish for the best and sort of... It looks like I'm frozen. Can you still hear me?
01:30:24
Speaker
I can still hear you. If you can still hear me, then okay, good. Yeah, it makes me happy though, ah because wow now I can say that other people are approaching myself. So technical difficulties for me.
Syria's Political Future and Challenges
01:30:37
Speaker
We are about to get out of here. yeah Anyways, the football game is already on and I know we'll talk about followers. Yes, we like to watch football, so we'll get out of here for that. But before we do, the one last topic we had to talk about. You were going to talk about side.
01:31:05
Speaker
Yes, exactly. Yes, Assad fled. um There are two different reports right now. i have I cannot get even through my my my internal channels, my internal governmental channels that I still have. I cannot get solid word on what exactly has happened. Some people are saying that he has gotten to Moscow and has received political asylum from Putin, but other than that okay cause other people including the the wos are claiming that they shot his plane down and tracking from plane tracker or flight tracker showed that the plane he was in actually went down now they could have just purposely gone below ra to try to That's what he knew because the Post, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, all these newspapers that I have um ah notifications for all said that he ah basically got a one way pass in the KHL and in Moscow. And um I'm not trying to joke about it. What he did, the things that he did are on the level of Saddam Hussein. It's it's just
01:32:16
Speaker
abysmal and awful what what he did um where do i see syria going because right now the guy that's uh the guy that's running syria is being proclaimed by the u.s as a terrorist and therefore the u.s can't communicate with him so they have to basically take him off the terrorist list uh and apparently discussions are ongoing there i know No, I have no insight info into that. I only am telling you what I hear on the news or have read. But ah there will be, as we like to say, there will be more to come on what happens in the future. Obviously, I would love for Syria to be, you know, possibly a burgeoning democracy.
01:33:03
Speaker
um But we will see how things shake out there because if the guy has decided after going to an ashram or going to somewhere, ah you know, peaceful ah that, you know, he wants to to do things the right way and OK, let's give him a chance. Like, I think I heard this more this ah right before I came on here, how they're apparently blowing up all their their demilitarizing ah the country.
01:33:32
Speaker
I don't know if you had heard that, but they're basically blowing up everything. So what do you think about it in terms of them demilitarizing? Because that that means they're going to lean on support from like Russia or the US, maybe. Yeah, and that's the difficult part. And I have to be very careful with what I say, because I when I was in the government, I did a lot of work in this regard regarding all of these said countries. So I have to be very careful than what I say. But um uh that is very unlikely due to exactly what you said previous regime in Syria was backed by Russia Iran and other uh terrorist uh group entities um this guy who was the leader of a former al-qaeda affiliate group which as you mentioned is considered to be still a terrorist group in the united states no matter what he says about his intentions or or or what he wants to do, you cannot trust that anyone that has previously been affiliated with a terrorist group is going to want to move things in the way of progressive democracy, especially considering the nature of the region that they're in, being that they're bordered right next to Russia, and Russia's already in it with Ukraine, and yeah, Trump said he's gonna try to end that, but all of these different hostilities are going to cause more things to happen regionally within the Middle East
01:34:59
Speaker
could could potentially even cause more hostility. I agree. Yeah. And it's going to be more, ah it's just going to be, you know, the State Department's obviously going to raise the flag there and say, don't travel to Syria probably um over the next couple of years. But you have to see, you know, I mean, the Syrian people certainly have a lot of faith in them.
01:35:28
Speaker
The guy that was on Face the Nation on Sunday was like, you know, we weren't able to do it. There was a coalition of our own people. We had no need for outside help. Okay, but who's running it now? Who can actually talk to him? Can Macron, you know, can the Irish PM, or sorry, the British PM talk to him? Can whoever's leading Ireland talk to him? Probably not.
01:35:56
Speaker
um german chancellor maybe so uh hopefully things will will shake out in a good way we'll see i'm we prefer that we avoided war obviously and that is the issue with uh televised ah revolutions um yeah in order to have a revolution be televised you need to have the right network and connections to be respected enough to have a say on the world stage and we do not know yet that these this group or this guy that leads this group is even going to have that sort of cache or that sort of networking
01:36:55
Speaker
countries in the way that their religions and religious sects run things in the different belief that they have about Western civilization. I can't see it becoming a democracy anytime soon, um and i I don't know where they get help from, because if they're not backed by Russia and Iran, which they could be, but it's going to take a lot of work to consider back the previous regime,
01:37:21
Speaker
the the You know, it just proves that I was doing, I don't know if my screen can move or if you guys, you can see me at all. I'm so frozen, but I was just doing a little bit of research here and I thought it was a tribute to R.E.M. I was wrong. It was Gil Scott Heron. He wrote a satirical poem in the 1970s. He recorded for an album in 1970 called The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.
01:38:07
Speaker
Gil Sky Heron was right. I'll just say that. so always pipe Always right. I haven't seen one televised revolution be a success yet. So we'll see.
Guest Promotion and Episode Reflection
01:38:20
Speaker
Well, hey, thank you so much, brother. We really appreciate you coming on today and joining us here at you. Seminar mente. um I had to laugh when you do that. I had to laugh when you do that. I got to sound all the sounds. See, I can even do a little. more um yeah Do you have the walkout board? Can you draw? Can you draw that thing or no? No, no, not not that nice little. Not yet. Okay. yeah that's That's coming next. That's coming next.
01:38:52

I'm still young, 33 to be exact for all my friends in Nashville. It is game time. The Bengals are playing the Dallas Cowboys. I'm giving you a score update. It is seven to seven, two minutes and 45 seconds left in the first quarter. Dallas has the ball at second and seven at the Dallas 33 yard line. I think that my father's Cowboys shout out my pops.

They've been on a roll. I still think their season is done, but I do think they're going to make it interesting. And I do think they win here tonight. Again, I need Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase to have bad games so I can win two of my fantasy matchups and get better seating. So if you want your boy to win some money and have the fantasy glory, you go ahead and root against all Bengals players, including Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase tonight. And and yeah, and we'll see you next week. Again, make sure you subscribe to Ballin Buds. I am Omar, the professor from second.
