Story of Ed the Zebra

00:03:07
Speaker
story. So this past weekend was CMA Fest in Nashville, and I thought I saw a couple zebras running around. But honestly, Ed the Zebra, he is a superstar here in Nashville now.
00:03:19
Speaker
ah a you You're asking a zebra? What? Yes, a zebra. So what happened? Apparently, someone had purchased a zebra as a pet.
00:03:31
Speaker
ah Yes, you're allowed to have a pet zebra in Nashville. So they purchased a zebra as a pet. It escaped out of the, I guess, the backyard or wherever the hell was at. I don't know.
00:03:42
Speaker
But it escaped and became a runaway pet zebra that was on the loose for more than a week. So if you don't live in Nashville, you probably didn't hear about this, but Ed the zebra was running all over town. it was such a story that it became meme worthy, meme fodder. And it was like a zebra, like on a, on a, um, on a pedal tavern, a beer bus.
00:04:05
Speaker
There was like a zebra just on the river, on the Cumberland and just like many places where the zebra was showing up. They finally caught the zebra ah safely, I made I say, after being located in a pasture near a subdivision in Christiana community in central Tennessee, Rutherford County.
00:04:25
Speaker
Ed the Zebra was then airlifted and flown by helicopter back to a waiting animal trailer, where he will be, I'm assuming, give him back to his owner.
00:04:36
Speaker
But at this point, I need the owner to answer some questions. If you're going to have a pet zebra, I'm going need you to not let that thing just run wild. Now, look, I am not one that would not like to ah see a zebra maybe see a zebra up close, to but I also realize that they're wild animals.
00:04:52
Speaker
I try to stay i far away from wild animals where I'm going to be at a safe distance. And I read a fun fact. Here's a professor's fact for you today. A zebra, a zebra's kick can crush the skull of a lion.
00:05:07
Speaker
So what the hell do you think is going to do to your or my skull? I'm not messing with these lions about this piece. um By the way, don't you make me bigger there? don't know why I was doing that. Tell me the oak.
00:05:18
Speaker
Anyway, so that's a little... Funny story that we had going around Nashville, but the update is the update. Ed the Zebra has been safely, ah or I can't say captured, but it safely, not apprehended either, safely escorted, for lack of a better word. The pursuit of Ed comes nearly a month after a runaway kangaroo shut down an Alabama interstate. So look.
00:05:46
Speaker
I'm all for people having wild animals. I popped when Mike Tyson had the white tiger. I always wanted a white tiger after that. But I also realized that the white tiger could probably maw my face off and probably wouldn't be good to hang out with like that.
00:05:58
Speaker
Now. you're Mike Tyson, maybe you don't care. I don't want to get my face mauled off by a tiger. So that's why I don't have one. Now I probably would still think about it, but i probably go with something safer, like a penguin.
00:06:09
Speaker
That's still a pretty cool animal that might not bite your head off. I don't know if they're a tack or not. Are they nice to him? I've never met a penguin. I don't know. Maybe there's a random thought. Anyways. Moving into more serious news, I did want to start out a little, just a little lively there, just with something to get us in a good mood because we are going to touch on some heavy stuff now.

Protests & Law Enforcement Dynamics

00:06:29
Speaker
Yes, tensions in LA, Los Angeles have escalated over the weekend as hundreds of protesters took to the streets in response to
00:06:41
Speaker
well, president President Donald Trump's deployment of the National Guard brought out more people. But before that, it was in response, which was a much smaller crowd, but it was response to ICE raids that were happening within the Los Angeles area. Now, you remember, if you watch this show, you remember I talked a couple weeks ago about how they were doing or rumored to have been doing ICE raids here in downtown Nashville.
00:07:08
Speaker
And we talked about how
00:07:13
Speaker
The mass deportation that was talked about by President Donald Trump at first was meant to be for criminals ah and and things like that, which then...
00:07:25
Speaker
broadly expanded to all immigrants that were here illegally, um as that being the crime that they committed, even though technically, just for it to let it be known, ah that it's not a simple it's not ah it's not an actual criminal ah charge. It's a a civil charge. so But either way, I get their point. I get what they're saying.
00:07:47
Speaker
um But what we got to realize here is that
00:07:53
Speaker
When these people are going into areas and taking these people that are not criminals, just hardworking individuals, you know, people that are trying to just work, make money, provide for the kids, regardless.
00:08:07
Speaker
Irregardless. How about that? You can argue with me with that on all day um of their immigration status. That's going to fire up tensions. It's going to, I mean, even I i told you on this show a couple weeks ago when there were rumored ice raids, it was, there were people all over on, excuse me, the internet, I got hair my mouth.
00:08:27
Speaker
Internet or whatever. um And around the area telling people, you know, where to watch out for and things like that.
00:08:36
Speaker
They are a huge part of our labor force. So when these people are being apprehended for deportation, they're being taken out of very public places because they do ah help with our cleaning, with our restaurants, with our ah farms, with our, ah you know, maintenance, with our construction and all of these sorts of things, which are very mainstream jobs.
00:09:01
Speaker
But they're just the only ones willing to do them. A little Solo Sokoa action there, shout out. um So what happened? ICE came in, started to bring some people off the streets. Protesters started to protest the ICE agents. At that point, it was a lower scale protest ah that changed.
00:09:24
Speaker
Once President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard, more and more people took to the streets. It turned into a riot. There were ah concrete thrown at officers. There were cars and buildings damaged and destroyed and Again, wholeheartedly, we do not advocate for ah violence on this program or destruction of personal property.
00:09:56
Speaker
When we talk about a story involving any form of police and a protest, you are going to observe some things that happen.

Power Imbalance & Impact on Protests

00:10:09
Speaker
So first you're going to observe that the protest is usually just that. Mild, not too much of an extent at the time when it starts.
00:10:23
Speaker
Gradually, as time goes on and more people join, Then you have the the the presence of police that get involved in the situation to try to ensure that nothing is going to happen. Even at that point, they're not trying to escalate anything. They're just ensuring, kind of standing around sort of thing.
00:10:47
Speaker
Things start, glances start to be exchanged. Things start to be said between both parties and between both. I'm not going to say that any of the officers are innocent because I've seen it. I've seen officers start that themselves against protesters.
00:11:01
Speaker
um But then the the tensions start to flare. Then there's usually barricades, usually some line line of demarcation where protesters aren't supposed to pass, whatever that may be, protecting government buildings, whatever.
00:11:20
Speaker
That lean line of demarcation is another barrier which, in the mind of the protester, is the exact thing that they're fighting against. The barriers of the restrictions of the system that we live in.
00:11:34
Speaker
Because, let's be completely frank, as we always are on this program, you call me Frank, I'll call you Jane. ah
00:11:44
Speaker
There is a a power imbalance between the rich and powerful and the middle class and less. And that power imbalance
00:11:59
Speaker
allows for people of the, and I don't want to say lesser status because it's not true. I'm part of those people, uh, people with less, maybe the less rich is what I guess I'm trying to say less powerful.
00:12:14
Speaker
Um, ah Yeah, the people with not as much power feel like they are in a box already, which you are. You are. The system is designed for the rich and powerful to be able to control the rest of society. That's that's how that's how the game is played.
00:12:29
Speaker
That's how this simulation works. So that's why money is is what rules the world as the wise Wu chain clan said, uh, as they go on their final chamber tour, uh, we've run the jewels shout out, uh, cash rules, everything around me, cream, get the money, dollar, dollar bills. Y'all,
00:12:50
Speaker
um And it's true. Cash runs the world. You need money for anything. And you need money if you want to do anything. And you need money if you want to be anything. um You can't even get a business off the ground if you don't have money. You can't even live if you don't have money. You can't even eat. Well, you could probably eat.
00:13:04
Speaker
You have to scavenge for bugs in the woods. But anyways, my point.
00:13:10
Speaker
Is that when people feel restricted and when people feel put in a box and put where barriers are around them, of course, when they face that in in a situation as such, it's going to...
00:13:26
Speaker
feel like that is exactly what they're fighting against. And in and for a metaphor or a short allegory, it it definitely is. It is a it is a metaphor or an analogy, if you will, for what people in a lower class in terms of power feel in this society.
00:13:46
Speaker
And so It's not a surprise that things like that then start to happen. It's not a surprise that ah anger starts to escalate and things start to escalate. It's not a surprise that a lot of people will black out and just do things that maybe they wouldn't normally do. now Again, I'm not advocating for anything.
00:14:05
Speaker
I'm just saying that. In those situations, a lot of times, both sides lose their cool and both sides lose their minds and and and things happen such as destroying property and cars and so on and so forth. Again, not advocating for it, just telling you the psycho psyche yeah psychology excuse me of what those kind of situations entail.
00:14:28
Speaker
um So who anyways, moving off of the the psychology of it and moving more into...
00:14:38
Speaker
What can be done? Because there was a poll that came out today and it was said that out of and i i'm ah I'm assuming mainly mainly Trump voters because it was a Trump ah positive based question on why he was voted in. So I'm assuming most of these people were Trump voters.
00:14:59
Speaker
Yeah. But it was it said, okay, so how many how much of you agreed with his policy when he got elected? And it was, i don't remember the exact number, around

Immigration & Legal Implications

00:15:11
Speaker
60%. I heard it on the news earlier.
00:15:13
Speaker
And then it was like, how many agree with the way the policies have been put in place? And that was like around 40%. forty percent So that's a 20% drop off of people who originally supported the way that he talked about his policies, but now don't support the way that he actually went about the policies. And that's really what we've talked about on this program since the beginning of ah President Donald Trump's administration is a lot of supporters and even non-supporters or independents or what have you, would be a okay with some of the things that were proposed before the presidency started.
00:15:57
Speaker
The application, the...
00:16:05
Speaker
the enforcement of the policies is a little more on the edge of what most people wanted or expected, including deportation or mass deportation.
00:16:19
Speaker
Again, as we talked about at the beginning of this segment, first it was all the criminals. Then that turned into, well, you're a criminal if you're here illegally anyway, so everybody illegal.
00:16:31
Speaker
So now, again, you're impacting the workforce, but fine. Let's say that you don't care. OK, you want to get rid of them anyways. OK, now you're starting to affect people that live here legally because not only do some people, such as in this past weekend, a U.S. marshal got ah scooped up by the police um in this in these raids ah and others that were legally here as well.
00:16:55
Speaker
you, when you do things in a broad manner, in a broad swath, you're not able to specify, specify you're not able to ah be very specific with how you apply these things that ah that allow, that allows you to get away from what you're really trying to do.
00:17:13
Speaker
And it has encouraged President Donald Trump to continue to go further in these things because of the way that
00:17:23
Speaker
People on the right would say, well, okay, maybe we don't like the employment of how he's actually going about all these things, but it's still doing the job, I guess is how you would say that if that's how you looked at it on that side of it.
00:17:42
Speaker
But the issue is that it's not just one side of the aisle that's affected by all of the policies, really, but by immigration mainly because people on both sides of the aisle have family that are immigrants that are here, no doubt about it. Republican, liberal, Democrat, whatever, independent.
00:18:01
Speaker
Everyone has some immigrants living here ah from their family, whether legally or illegally. ah So It is a sensitive subject to a lot of people.
00:18:13
Speaker
And so anger does get raised. And so those troops were sent in. Again, more protesters came out after that. It did turn into a riot. It did turn into you know destruction of property and and things of that source.
00:18:28
Speaker
But But military invention intervention, excuse me, or the Insurrection Act, which was being proposed by Donald Trump, is fallacy on its face.
00:18:42
Speaker
it's a fallacy on its face um let's first look Let's first look into what the Insurrection Act actually says. So the Insurrection Act, it says, of 1807, is a U.S. federal law that empowers the President of the United States to nationally deploy the U.S. military and to federalize the National Guard units of the individual states in specific circumstances such as the suppression of civil disorder.
00:19:14
Speaker
insurrection, armed rebellion against the federal government of the United States. Of those three, Civil disorder, this could definitely be considered that.
00:19:26
Speaker
Insurrection, definitely not. and don't want to hear all the Republicans and conservative ah side of the aisle coming out now and saying, oh, this was an insurrection, because you weren't saying that on January 6th when that was an actual insurrection of the Capitol. This is not such. This is a riot, yes. An insurrection, no. An insurrection would actually have to be at the federal government.
00:19:46
Speaker
This was a riot in the streets of California, which, if anything, would be not even a against the state of California. So that's a little far, but riot. Yes. Civil disorder. Yes.
00:20:00
Speaker
You already sent the national guard out, which escalated tensions even further and made things worse. Why would we think, and it's been, especially now that they're already there, you already have more national guard than there are protesters.
00:20:17
Speaker
But, Or, I mean, well, probably not now. Now you probably have a lot more protesters. But at the time, when you they were there, you had about the same number. it's If you bring in the Marines, which now they're saying 500 Marines are on ah on pre-deployment status...
00:20:39
Speaker
First of all, I just don't like, i'm I'm a veteran, so I just don't like using the military for things like this. I think it's very, very wrong for the government to use the military for things like this. Now, if the if the whole city was being burned down, if the damn capital or the or the whatever, would okay, fine. Then that I would understand.
00:20:59
Speaker
This is not that. And to use the military, that's a little bit over the line and and in my eyes as a veteran. And I don't think that this comes to a place where we should be invoking or deploying our Marines to any sort of type of situation that they don't need to be in. They already deal with a lot of tough shit.
00:21:17
Speaker
All right. They're the ones that are, you know, first in line when we go to war. I salute all my Marines. Hoorah.
00:21:26
Speaker
I would have done it louder, but got people so... but you oh Anyways, love them. But this is not a position where they need to be put into, nor is it an insurrection, nor is it a matter of national defense.
00:21:44
Speaker
It is a riot? Yes. is it ah Is it more than that? No. Does it require more than the National Guard? No. The National Guard is fine for these situations. Right.
00:21:54
Speaker
Um, now again, tensions were escalated when they were brought in. Now, am I saying don't bring in them in? No, obviously I'm not saying that if it rises to the level where they need to be brought in, then bring them in.
00:22:07
Speaker
But what I'm saying is that when these tensions are raised, you can't then continually, continuously up the ante in order to make
00:22:21
Speaker
How do I say this? In order to quell the actual situation that's at hand. Because escalating the tensions even further, you already got people with guns and tanks. You don't, I mean, you don't need the Marines. You already got the National Guard. They already have guns and tanks. You don't need, you know, you see what saying? It's just like, it's bringing more to a fight than you really need. You're already, you're already going to win.
00:22:45
Speaker
The protesters aren't going to come and start shooting at the National Guard. That's not going happen. So, It just seems like it's it would only bring more bad than good in my eyes for both sides. ah So I would not suggest that he does that. But hey, we'll see what happens. He did say he was going to try to...
00:23:05
Speaker
Okay. He said he was going to try to take Governor Gavin Newsom out of office, which he can't do. It's not even in the Constitution. That's not legal for him to do. So it's just not possible.
00:23:17
Speaker
um But, you know, he likes to bluster and say things that are going to get, you know, people riled up. And he wants people riled up against Gavin Newsom right now. And yeah he doesn't like him. He never has. So, hey, whatever. But Let's just we like to give facts on this program because we're neutral. We're down the middle. We don't care about either side of the aisle.
00:23:34
Speaker
We're down the middle on this program. We give facts that it's he he cannot take Newsom out office. Put it that way. okay just from Just take that out of your mind right now. Anyways, this is ah reminiscent, though.
00:23:49
Speaker
the first time or The first time since 1965 that the National Guard was activated in a state without the request of the governor.
00:24:00
Speaker
So Governor Newsom said he's going to sue the government for this. I don't think i don't think he really has. much of a case all And really that... Whatever.
00:24:13
Speaker
It's not like he's going to win the money anyways. It would be a city versus... City-state versus federal government sort of thing, but it would basically get... You know what? The whole process is not even appointed. Just believe that it would get buried and nothing would happen in the end.
00:24:28
Speaker
Okay, cool. All right. Anyways, so we'll see what happens here. We'll keep you updated. Right now, they were having a peaceful protest earlier. There were a bunch of um church congregations, interfaith leaders leading songs and prayers and things like that.
00:24:43
Speaker
But we all know in these situations as well, once nighttime comes about, There will be escalation. The nighttime brings, um, no was that song? The freaks come out at night.
00:24:59
Speaker
The freaks come out at night, which is ah a a ah a, an amazingly great song, uh, but also be not false. Uh, and I know cause I spend a lot of time out at night because I'm a night owl and that's when I like to be awake and that's, Hey, I don't mind the freaks of the night. Uh,
00:25:19
Speaker
whatever. Anyways, but the point is ah things like that can happen. Also, there could be the addition of ah maybe people who have been drinking or otherwise. There's also just the side of people just being more tired, including the officers, things like this. So we'll see.
00:25:38
Speaker
Hopefully it does not blow up any more than it has, but we will see what happens tonight as the night goes on.

Trump's Controversial Actions

00:25:46
Speaker
All right. Moving on in other news in the United States, Donald Trump's new travel ban has gone into. Oh, no. You know what? Oh, yeah. You know what?
00:25:57
Speaker
I did have one more.
00:26:01
Speaker
Nope. Nope. I did not. Never mind. I did it right. OK, cool. All right. ah So as i was saying, ah the.
00:26:11
Speaker
um the travel ban, excuse me, Trump's new travel ban has gone into effect. So what you need to know, these are the 12 countries you are banned from traveling to. If you thought that you wanted to actually travel to any of these countries, maybe some of you have family in these countries and you need to know this ahead of time, I would like you to know.
00:26:29
Speaker
So the banned countries, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Myanmar, excuse me, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea,
00:26:41
Speaker
Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. Partial travel restrictions have been placed on seven other countries, ah Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
00:27:04
Speaker
So, If you are from any of those countries, if you have family in any of those countries, I apologize that you have to deal with this ban. But obviously the United States thinks that these places are too dangerous for U.S. citizens to travel to.
00:27:20
Speaker
I would mainly agree. ah There are a couple on there I think would be okay. But you would definitely be at a you'd be at a point of of of possible danger, and it's probably not recommended. I wouldn't there would only probably be one, two,
00:27:44
Speaker
two three, three of the four. And three. Three or four of those countries, I would probably say it would still be okay, but ah you know, hey, they may just take you prisoner just because you're American. So you just want to always be safe.
00:28:02
Speaker
Right. Aside from the other ones, you definitely shouldn't be going to as an American. Don't be stupid. Don't go to North Korea. Don't go to Russia. Don't go to China. um Right. Just I mean, I think those are pretty obvious at this point. I mean, I think if you go there at this point, I think you know what you're getting yourself into.
00:28:20
Speaker
So um anyways. All right. just wanted to update you on that. I saw that that news came out today. Uh, more news. Uh, so this actually goes, i should have, I should have done this story before the last story, but it doesn't really matter.
00:28:36
Speaker
Uh, massive military parade planned in DC. Get this y'all. So, uh,
00:28:53
Speaker
They are going to spend, and this is what is what they said on the news today. So I'm i'm giving you what i what what I was told on the news today, $45 million on this parade.
00:29:06
Speaker
Excuse dollars on this parade what excuse me why Look, I am a veteran. I'm all for showing our military might to the world, although this is really only done in countries with dictators like the ones we just mentioned.
00:29:27
Speaker
It's really only where you see this kind of thing. But I'm not going to say that. Even if you wanted to just celebrate the military, I'm cool with that. That's amazing. I think we should promote the military.
00:29:38
Speaker
I think we should get more. i I personally believe, it's my personal opinion, that any citizen of the United States when they're 18 should either have to go to the military for two years or have to go to community college for two years or a trade school.
00:29:54
Speaker
You have to do something that's going to further yourself, either the military or a job school or a community college or something. You can choose what you want, but you have to do at least two of that. I would require that. Now, if you already have a job at when you're 18, then cool.
00:30:07
Speaker
I mean, you can surpass that, but you have to be contributing to society. So I am all for promoting the military. I love my military brothers and sisters. Again, I am a veteran. So ah salute to that.
00:30:20
Speaker
And I'm glad that it would also celebrate the U.S. Army's 250th birthday. Awesome. Celebrate all of the services, please. You don't need 45 million damn dollars.
00:30:32
Speaker
You don't need 45 million damn dollars. And then the destruction to the roads and stuff afterwards with tanks and stuff like that. It's more money after that's going to come out of taxpayers' pockets, me and you, to have to pay for the fixing of those roads.
00:30:46
Speaker
Where do you think that's going to come from? It's not going to come from the government. It's going to come from our taxes. Anyways, $45 million is very exuberant, very extravagant, very unnecessary.
00:30:59
Speaker
It's a military parade. And I was taught in the military to get by with what you have. to get by with scraps, with the least that you can.
00:31:10
Speaker
Because when you're out in the field, you ain't going to have nothing.
00:31:14
Speaker
but And also just be prepared and have what you need beforehand too. But the point being, that's a that's a lot of money. And I highlight this because of the problems that we have with our soldiers coming back from war, with our veterans that come back with PTSD and other things that already aren't being supported enough.
00:31:35
Speaker
And you're going to spend all this money on a parade when that money could be given to those veterans and soldiers in need that actually need that help? that's That's my main mission issue with this. My secondary issue with this is that I then come to find out, because I didn't know this when I first heard the story. I just heard how much money was going to be spent. And i was like, that's a lot of damn money.
00:31:57
Speaker
They don't need that much money to to get the troops to walk around D.C. They all in D.C. anyways. Believe me, all of them right there. The base is all around. You don't need to give nothing but a day off. Maybe a one deployment check, a $75 per diem, which is just per day payables for your deployment necessities for you civilians out there.
00:32:18
Speaker
um But anyways, so I also came to find out that Saturday is also President Trump's birthday.
00:32:33
Speaker
And he had a quote that it was a long dream of his to have this sort of parade.
00:32:46
Speaker
And again, here we are towing the line of a president using the military. And this is just, again, just the optics. The optics aren't good. The optics are ah very bad. Just don't do it on your birthday.
00:33:01
Speaker
Why are you doing it on your birthday? just do it Just do it on a different week. let Just do why. You couldn't wait a week. You couldn't do it a week before a week after. You had you you got you want to do it on the same exact day.
00:33:16
Speaker
Okay. Well, I guess. I mean, look, you ain't even trying to hide it if you're doing that. you need Like, wait a week after. at least try to hide it. I would at least. That's what I would do. No? Okay. Whatever. Let's get some comments here because I missed a couple. Oh, shout out, Benny Shung.
00:33:30
Speaker
My uncle, I love you. Tio Javier, shout out. benny so um My producer says terrible, especially when they let go of so many federal workers. Yeah, yeah, it is.
00:33:41
Speaker
It is very terrible that, ah you know, they spend all this money and then they're talking about cutting all the debt. Why did he bring Doge in if he's going to best spend $45 million on a military parade? That could technically be construed as being for himself.
00:33:54
Speaker
I'm not saying it is or not. I'm just saying the optics don't look very good when it comes to having a parade around your birthday to celebrate the military. Again, celebrate the military. $45 million dollars is not necessary.
00:34:07
Speaker
Not necessary. Pay our veterans, pay our soldiers with PTSD, help the homeless, fix the mental health crisis, do other things with that money. Now, I know 45 million is a drop in the bucket when it comes to really anything in this world.
00:34:21
Speaker
ah But I mean, damn, just ah again, just the optics, just the optics. So ah we'll keep you updated. I wonder if he's actually going to, I mean, I guess at this point he's planned it so much it's going to go off. But I don't know, man.
00:34:36
Speaker
I don't know. That's wild. Anyways, one last ah point of news in the u the United States. Trade talks between the United States and China began today in London. Each side is bringing what they want to the table. American trade officials will press their Chinese counterparts to ease export controls on rare earth minerals and the magnet that and the magnets containing them.
00:35:00
Speaker
china On the other hand, wants the United States to lift recent restrictions on its ability to buy jet engines and other technology products.
00:35:11
Speaker
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will lead the American side in the negotiations. These are building on the talks they had in Geneva. back in May when they agreed to the 90-day pause on the tariffs.
00:35:26
Speaker
Talks are expected to run the rest of the

Show Milestones & Activism

00:35:29
Speaker
week. We will update you next week on what happens with these talks. All right. Awesome. We got a couple world news stories before we get out of here for the night, but please make sure you are subscribed to Ball and Budge.
00:35:44
Speaker
B-A-L-L-A-N-D-B-U-D-S. There's a handy QR code up at the top. It'll take you to our link to subscribe to our YouTube, follow on Instagram, so on and so forth.
00:35:56
Speaker
ah That being said, man. A really awesome weekend for Ball and Buds. We gained 70, around 60, no, 70 subscribers over the weekend. We had our ah biggest video ever, 10,000 views on one of our videos, a short.
00:36:13
Speaker
um So cool. Only, well, I should say that's 10,000 overall views, which really doesn't mean what it does. I teach digital marketing, so I'll really tell you what that means for all you content creators out there.
00:36:25
Speaker
um That 10,000 views is is nice. it's it's so It's what we call a vanity metric um because it's not really 10,000 views. A view is counted whenever a video pops up on a screen. And how many times are you ah just scrolling through and a video starts playing and you keep scrolling?
00:36:42
Speaker
That counts as a view. So um that's why when you look at overall views, you have to take them with a grain of salt. ah You have to actually look, ah which is a good thing that YouTube is doing now. They just started including in their and analytics engaged views, which is when people actually view for a certain amount of time on the video. It's actually a percentage of ah the video because they want to show you when people are actually listening and not just dropping off in the first couple seconds.
00:37:10
Speaker
So we had 1.5 engaged views. So 1,500 engaged views. So those were real views ah that people liked. It was awesome. It was for Clayton Q at Country Box. Shout out my brother, Clayton Q. ah That was really awesome. Did a good collab with him.
00:37:25
Speaker
We'll continue to work with him, continue to work with everybody at Country Box. Looking forward to working with Jimmy Adams and the crew there more and helping them out with everything they got it going over the on over there. Country Box a premier sports and entertainment here in Nashville.
00:37:41
Speaker
Music and boxing meeting in an amazing place. night of fights and entertainment. And I mean, last, last show last Tuesday was off the charts.
00:37:52
Speaker
The atmosphere was intense, uh, electric as, Savan Natini said, uh, it was just, it was great. Just so many, I mean, the whole house was packed, just the lights, the, uh, it's good. It's, it's,
00:38:07
Speaker
getting there. We getting there, Jimmy. We getting it. Shout out to Jimmy Adams and salute to the rest of the crew out there. A.D. Erman is in the rest. um So anyways, what was I saying? Oh yeah. ah World news, moving on into world news.
00:38:23
Speaker
So Israeli forces seized a Gaza bound aid boat And detained, wait for this, Greta Thunberg.
00:38:34
Speaker
Yes, Greta Thunberg. The, Thunberg, excuse me. the the the The climate activist. You know the little girl that came out when she was like 12 and she was like, you know, save the world from climate change and all this stuff?
00:38:49
Speaker
Her. She's still an activist. I mean, you got to think you would be with the rest of your life at that point. ah She and 12 other activists. citizens ah boarded a civilian boat to take aid to the Gaza Strip, to Palestinians, because there has been a blockade in the Palestinian territory that's been tightened since the war with Hamas. Obviously, this has been a horrible war. Humanitarian aid has suffered. We talked about this a few weeks ago on this program.
00:39:21
Speaker
Most of the Palestinian people there are at risk of famine because they haven't been getting food and supplies and medical supplies and care that they need, which often happens in these war ah time situations in these countries. Usually the supplies don't get their food, doesn't get their food.
00:39:36
Speaker
Because of many different reasons, logistics, supply chain, theft, and corruption. A lot of times government will steal the food and not give it to people. So that happens too.
00:39:49
Speaker
Can't tell you exactly what's happening here as I'm not on the ground. But the Freedom Flotilla Coalition voyage was kidnapped by Israel. Kidnapped, allegedly, by... They were taken ah hostage. Not hostage. it I don't even know if it would be hostage.
00:40:04
Speaker
Because they, Israeli is is saying they escorted them to the shore, but they, they did go onto their boat and take them off of their boat onto their boat. So I don't know what you consider that. I'm not a salesper salesperson, salesperson, a salesman, a seaman.
00:40:21
Speaker
little Navy humor for you there. um Shout out my brother, Clubber D. Oh, check out Clubber D's YouTube channel as well. And his TikTok, Clubber D, Clubber dot D on TikTok, Clubber D on YouTube. Anyways, he,
00:40:34
Speaker
And, uh, Ellen. Oh boy, Rob, shout out. Um, but anyways, I got a lot of Navy buddies. I'm just not going to name everybody right now. All right. Uh, they say that ship was unlawfully boarded, unarmed civilian crew abducted and life-saving cargo, including baby formula, food and medical supplies confiscated. Now that came from the ship.
00:40:53
Speaker
So that came from them. Uh, it said they were seized in international waters, 120 from Gaza is israel Damn, I must be tired. I'm getting a little wordsy.
00:41:08
Speaker
Wordsy. What is wordsy? Handsy? um Israel, foreign ministry, portrayed the voyage as a public relations stunt, and they called it a selfie yacht, and that the celebrities were safely making their ways back to the shores of Israel.
00:41:24
Speaker
it's They said they would return the activists to their home countries, and aid would be sent to Gaza through established channels. I can tell you right now, you know, what we just talked about those established channels. If you really think Israel is providing the amount of aid that they should be or any, I can't say whether they are or not. sure they're dropping off mercy packages.
00:41:44
Speaker
But if you think Israel is actually providing the aid that they're supposed to be providing, I have a mansion to sell you on the ocean ah in the middle of Nashville.
00:41:59
Speaker
That's all I'll say about that. um Anyway, so and it is true. This has been coming from a lot of organizations, humanitarian and organizations around the world, including the United Nations, has been saying that there's a huge famine happening in Gaza and that the help is dearly, dearly needed.
00:42:16
Speaker
Adalah, a rights group in Israel, said it was representing the activists and said that Israel had no legal authority to take the ship over. Get this, y'all, because it was in international waters and because it was not headed to Israel, but to the territorial waters of the state of Palestine.
00:42:36
Speaker
Now, Most of you are going to ask me, what the hell does that mean in civilian terms, Omar? And I'm going to tell you exactly what that means. So when you have our shores or any country's shores around the world, what happens is there is a, it's 12 nautical miles off of the shoreline of any country is their lawful waters.
00:43:01
Speaker
Anything extending further than those, than that is international waters. This is why, Countries can ship, like we can, for instance, can go all around the world with our our our military ships as long as we stay in international water and not impede on the sovereignty or the territorial waters of said countries.
00:43:25
Speaker
They 120 miles 200 kilometers off the coast. So that's definitely in international waters. That's not in their territorial waters. Also, um well, the heading of the direction, since those places are in the same area, can't really say whether they were heading there or not, because you could just say that, but they were still in international waters. And legally, Israel was probably not allowed to do that. Now, what's going happen is the fact that these people are civilians and ah don't have any power whatsoever.
00:43:55
Speaker
um nothing's going to come up of this in terms of of Israel having anything happen to them. It's still going to continue. This blockade is going to continue. We have to somehow figure out how to get...
00:44:07
Speaker
the supplies that they need there. Because again, a lot of people, are innocent women, children, families, people are dying because they're not getting the aid that they need. So as always, we will keep you updated on that horrible war, but it's been over 54,000 Palestinians have been killed according to the Gaza health ministry. Now they do not distinguish between civilians and combatants, but still 54,000 people is a lot of people.
00:44:38
Speaker
All right, a couple more news items before we get you out of here on that 8 o'clock

International Conflicts & Tensions

00:44:43
Speaker
hour. First of all, there was a Colombian assassination attempt. Colombian opposition presidential candidate Miguel Uribe-Tulbe remains in critical condition after an assassination attempt Saturday in Bogota.
00:44:55
Speaker
A 15-year-old suspect has been arrested. Officials are searching for potential accomplices. A 15-year-old suspect shot a presidential candidate.
00:45:07
Speaker
Wow. Wowzers. that's That's crazy. That's young. That's younger than the guy that tried to shoot. That's like four years younger, five years younger than that tried to shoot Donald Trump. That's crazy. um The shooting took place at a campaign rally, which also may be crazy.
00:45:22
Speaker
but There are allegations on that too. well I'm not going to get into that right now. and fifteen year old ah ah The shooting took place at a campaign rally in Columbia's capital. In the middle of the speech, the 39-year-old conservative was reportedly shot three times, undergoing head and leg surgery after.
00:45:39
Speaker
Uribe has served as a senator since 2022 and called for a crackdown on crime. but Well, look what I got you. I'm
00:45:50
Speaker
Recent polls show him lagging frontrunners in the lead up to Colombia's May 31st, 2026 election. ude but Uribe comes from a prominent political family. Get this. His grandfather was former president Julio Cesar Turbe Ayala.
00:46:06
Speaker
a liberal politician who served from 1978 to 1982. And his mother was journalist Diana Thulbe, who was kidnapped by a group linked to Pablo Escobar and killed in a 1991 rescue attempt.
00:46:23
Speaker
So this 15 year old could have been probably, he could have also just been hired by anyone because this, his, his family legacy goes so, it goes so but far back in politics and what looks like scandal and assassination attempts and stuff. He's,
00:46:36
Speaker
probably an inside job, maybe even. I'm not going to allegedly right there, but that's crazy. I want to repeat that for you. The presidential candidate, his grandfather was the former president, and his mother was a journalist kidnapped by a group led by Pablo Escobar, or linked to Pablo Escobar.
00:47:00
Speaker
wow Can't make this stuff up. tens of thousand other news in other news excuse me Tens of thousands of people protest current government in Madrid, Spain. Call on Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to resign amid corruption allegations. Also...
00:47:16
Speaker
also um In Russia, Russia launched a drone attack. So we saw this last week. We talked about the the back and forth attacks. It has continued. Now Russia launched a drone and missile attack on Kharkiv, Ukraine's second largest city.
00:47:32
Speaker
It killed ah apparently four people, wounded 60 others. Then Ukraine came back and launched their drone. So back and forth we go, back and forth we go. And in our last story tonight, Rwanda has an exit 11-member economic community of Central, or sorry, Rwanda is exiting an 11-member economic community of Central African states after the group withholds rotating leadership role to Kilgali.
00:47:59
Speaker
which is a the capital of Rwanda, comes amid tensions, I believe, with Democratic Republic of Kondo over Rwandan-backed militant group M23, which has seized large areas of the Congo, including the country's two largest cities, in a conflict that has just killed 7,000 people and displaced 5 million more.
00:48:25
Speaker
So a lot of stuff um going on there. We will obviously, as always, keep you updated with all of those stories and so much more. Make sure to check us out for our news edition of The Professor's Seminole Monday.

Conclusion & Show Flexibility

00:48:43
Speaker
Every Monday. Mostly every Monday. I don't think I've missed a month. There's been a couple of Mondays I missed when I went on vacation. But other than that, it's usually every Monday um around 630 or 7. I don't have a set time, y'all.
00:48:54
Speaker
And you know what? I'm on my own time. I don't believe in time. So you just whenever I come on, you see me. And if you don't, then oh, well, you can catch the replay. I don't matter to me. But. Um, we'll see.
00:49:05
Speaker
Maybe I'll, I'll, I'll try to just make it seven every time, but then I'm just, I try to think of like, okay, seven, then it's eight o'clock. So it's prime time on East coast. So people are probably watching what they want to watch. But then at seven is still only five o'clock on the West coast. So people, some people aren't even off work yet. So it's like, you try to catch that in between time. That's why I go for the six 30, the seven.
00:49:24
Speaker
Um, but usually what happens is since I go to the gym after my work day, that's usually why I'm running a little bit, ah behind because I usually do my preparation before or when I'm done with my work for the day, I prepare for the show and then I go to the gym and come back and after shower and everything, it's usually like, oh, well, let me take my time to jump on whatever bubble. But again, I don't believe in time so I can do what I want. It's my show.
00:49:47
Speaker
Whatever, whatever, I do what I want. Thank you for tuning in to everybody. The one person watching my mother. Appreciate you. My producer. ah Thank you. I keep seeing dislikes on some of my videos and it's like, okay, I understand if like the content you didn't like, but some of the videos, it's just like some of the videos I do with artist interviews and stuff like.
00:50:20
Speaker
How do you not like why? yeah Even if you didn't like his music, like, so what? Why would you just put a down? Why are you that spiteful? Just keep your day moving. I don't, I don't dislike videos. I don't, I don't, I just keep it moving and watch another video.
00:50:33
Speaker
Why you gotta to be so, some people are so spiteful in this world. You know, you're hurting people in their algorithm, your stupid downvotes, your dislikes. Take your shit elsewhere. Holla at your boy. um I am Omar, the Professor Fonseca. I truly appreciate everybody tuning in. Very humble.
