Lifestyle of Longevity: Hello and welcome to the tennis. bakery this is your tennis fan podcast done by myself kati and christina and we are coming to you at the moment as often as we can during the u .s open to tell you what we think about what is going on on and off the court.
Lifestyle of Longevity: from a fan. perspective. And today we are going to talk about they Day nine is the second day of the round four. So it's the day before the quarterfinal, so to say, and we have finalized.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Therefore, the final eight. in each category now, and that is where we are. What are your thoughts, Christina?
K: Yes.
K: My thoughts. um My thoughts are predominantly that it is already day nine. Which means it's not so many more days to go.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And definitely not that many matches.
K: Mm -mm.
Lifestyle of Longevity: because there's significantly less matches of course as the tournament progresses.
K: yes and um when we prepared for the past uh episodes we always had a look Into what kind of match we were looking forward to the most for the next day. And then there were always kind of.
K: I don't know, 20 matches to choose from or even more in the beginning. And now it's just down to. I don't know how many are now that like from today onwards, it will only be two, right? For each. gender.
K: No, three.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yes, it's it's for now it's two days of four a day.
K: Me too.
Lifestyle of Longevity: then it's two days of Two a day. And then it's two days of one a day.
K: This is always going so fast. I always find myself in the beginning of ah of a slam. looking at the tournament schedule and thinking, oh my God, this is like endless opportunities to watch tennis. And suddenly...
K: It's almost. Over. Damn.
Lifestyle of Longevity: That's true.
K: But normally I do really like the quarterfinals phase, which is coming up. today. So this is normally... um One of the times in Islam where I think... it gets really down to really good players playing against each other i mean they're all good good players right but like only the best players playing against each other normally And that would also always be the time when I would aim for.
K: a ticket for a slam or maybe a fourth round or a quarter final or something, because I always found that. You still have quite a lot of matches, but really good players. So I think normally this is quite the speed sweet spot.
K: I just think on the men's side, it is bit it's a bit. Not as exciting as I would have. Hoped. It would be. On the women's side... It is really exciting though.
K: i find. What do you think?
Lifestyle of Longevity: I was... I always find the quarterfinals. I always think they're gonna be good. And I think as long as I can think back, they haven't been as good as I thought they would be. So I've kind of learned for myself that. if I got to choose, I would rather. Choose a.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Round four ticket. in the second largest stadium. than a quarterfinal day ticket. I don't know. I don't know why, but somehow the quarterfinals of...
Lifestyle of Longevity: The Grand Slams in the last two years. in general, of course there's exceptions, have been underwhelming. including when we went to the quarterfinals, which was the first time we went to a Grand Slam in Roland Garros, which was three years ago, I think.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And, um, there, there. It was. Complete, just straight set. wins. in all of the matches that we saw and we were there for two like we saw both quarterfinal days We only missed one match.
Lifestyle of Longevity: So it was, yeah.
K: It was still a very nice trip and I loved every second of it. First time Roland Garros.
Lifestyle of Longevity: It. was but it In the sense of like exciting tennis matches. Hmm. there are others. yeah so And I was wondering actually, and please excuse my voice, I'm i'm a bit sick. um I was wondering... um If it's actually a phenomenon, especially on the men's side.
Lifestyle of Longevity: That we have right now that because there's such a great difference between the top top players and everyone else. If we kind of have this phenomenon that you have fun games at the beginning. of slams.
Lifestyle of Longevity: let's say the first two or three rounds because you have some exciting match -ups of Players on equal level. And then you have a whole load of not so exciting matches because then very good players match up with not so good players.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And then in the end, you have a good final.
K: Hopefully.
Lifestyle of Longevity: But I don't know because it looks like on the men's side, um my theory, I didn't actually even... I didn't see these matches. I focused on the women's. yesterday so I made sure I found the woman's more exciting so I didn't watch any of the men's except the boring Sverev match. So, um but it sounds like there were several very long matches in there.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Should we start with them? if you Do you know anything about them?
K: The men?
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yeah.
K: I haven't watched. any men's tennis match. I only watched one match actually. yesterday. So um I watched the highlights of the Zverev match this morning, but this looked like a really...
K: Kind of straightforward win, right?
Lifestyle of Longevity: It was boring.
K: Against Adairi.
Lifestyle of Longevity: boring Yeah.
K: So I found it a bit, you know. I mean, I only watched the highlights so that was fine. I didn't watch the um TN. being kicked out by khachanov i didn't watch that but i found it interesting um And I also didn't watch the Wanda Suns group.
K: match never know how to pronounce him properly but I think it's quite the achievement that he advanced to the quarterfinals.
Lifestyle of Longevity: I mean, that game was still on while Zverev was playing. And it was so loud on Louis Armstrong that you could hear the cheers. From Louis Armstrong and Arthur Ashe.
Lifestyle of Longevity: and Arthur Ashe is loud right people talk on there they're not quiet So the fact that you could hear the people. On Louis Armstrong screaming. on arthur ash means that there were there was stuff going on and i mean i like i said i didn't see it it's also Just crazy that it's...
Lifestyle of Longevity: Well. These two. People are, one of them is now in the court of vitals. the Van der Zandt shop is now in the finals. um But the scoreline... is definitely something i mean it's five sets three of them were in tie break the other ones only with one break forward and the game took five hours and 13 minutes so it's the longest match that was played in this tournament um Yeah.
Lifestyle of Longevity: This means that he's also going to be very exhausted when he plays Zverev.
K: Yeah, good for Zverev. ah speaking Speaking of, just quickly mentioning that. Speaking of noise on the court, right, we discussed yesterday yesterday about the...
K: Constant noise on Arthur Ashe and how players were distracted by people using ring lights and doing TikTok reels or reels or something on. in the stands and um I have just seen a press.
K: something I don't know which channel it was from, that Wimbledon um reacted and will not give out any content creator tickets. Next. Yeah. um At least not from their side.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Okay. I think this is a not news.
K: Okay.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Because the majority of influencers, I mean, this happened. Yeah, Wimbledon did that. but There was never like... The majority of the influencers that are at Grand Slams are not ones that come from...
Lifestyle of Longevity: the slam. They're ones that come from the brands. And there is no way... for For them to...
K: No, they they cannot forbid the brands to invite them. They only said, of course, they will not give out any tickets themselves and they will confess the...
Lifestyle of Longevity: And.
K: and ring lights and stuff.
Lifestyle of Longevity: The ringlet and And the other thing I think is actually quite rude.
K: and the entrance.
Lifestyle of Longevity: like Okay, so you invite like an actor. Is that a content creator? Like when are you a content creator? When you have a certain number of followers. But what happens if you're... also no one's only a content creator these people all do other things as well like like i said like they're actors or they do music or they do they have a they have a a fashion line i think it's such like a fake statement because a you can't control most of the influencers because you're not the one inviting them and b
Lifestyle of Longevity: like how are you gonna like what's your criteria for someone to be an influencer and not it's just such a I think it's such a... Again, jumping on a hype train kind of announcement, like, oh, we're so serious.
Lifestyle of Longevity: We're not inviting influencers anymore. What do you mean? Like, do you check, like when when someone suggests that you invite someone, do you?
K: No, I get that part. I get that part, but I still think you can do something about like them distracting the players. And I think like.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Of course, like forbid the ring lights and stuff. That makes complete sense.
K: Yeah, that's what they do as well.
Lifestyle of Longevity: yeah I know that makes complete sense but what's this whole thing about forbidding influencers to come it's just like it's just it's ah that's what I mean it's a non -new it's just jumping on this hype train that people that people are all worked up about rather than thinking of like only focusing on the things that are actually the problems which are the ring lights or maybe
Lifestyle of Longevity: doing clearer etiquette communications to people when you buy a ticket you know they give you all kinds of information at grand slams about ah how your ticket works and so on and so forth, then why don't you just give everyone also a bit of information on like what the etiquette is?
Lifestyle of Longevity: at Grand Slams. I think i think it's a really... a really weird PR move of Wimbledon. I don't think it's cool at all.
K: Yeah interesting I didn't perceive it like that. But interesting to hear. Anything else um about the men from your side?
Lifestyle of Longevity: Um, no, I'm just having a look. Oh, so blocks. I'm interesting how that game. um turned around, I'm trying to find the score. Because... um I briefly looked into this yesterday evening because they were playing. um before our bedtime.
Lifestyle of Longevity: and um blocks was injured He injured himself in the first set. and he injured his right arm and he's a right -handed player. And he was getting major treatment on court for...
Lifestyle of Longevity: whatever was hurting him. And he still somehow managed to. to scrape through the first set, but it was more the case of like... Surundula was so overwhelmed by...
Lifestyle of Longevity: how the other guy wasn't being able to fully play anymore that he got all confused and he took over but then in the second set so I want to break your head and I was like okay this is Like he's going to take this because. Blox is injured, right?
Lifestyle of Longevity: Went to bed. And now I see that he... The b blocks ended up winning. I have no idea. The human that I saw on court there yesterday, I have no idea how he won that that game because he was really, he was. really injured on his right arm.
K: Will be an interesting next match match for him.
Lifestyle of Longevity: You don't know anything either, right?
K: No, I just... Um, Yeah, no, no, I would just want to look forward to the upcoming quarterfinals, but we can do that later as well.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yeah, so we have to do some, maybe we can do some on -the -fly research. so this Because it's I don't understand how someone can have such a miracle recovery. just um But because they're both not that famous, the internet isn't talking about it.
Lifestyle of Longevity: It's like, give give me some information.
K: yeah
Lifestyle of Longevity: on how... This Belgian man with the perfect hair. how he survived this. po how he survived this this game. But no.
Lifestyle of Longevity: We do not know.
K: While you're looking. I just wanted to mention another thing that was really, really, really bothering me. It has been bothering me all tournament, but it again bothered me so much yesterday that I want to talk about it.
K: It is. m related to the thumbnails they put. on the recordings like if you watch a real life for example or if they are like if they if you have this overview in the Sports Europe app, which gives you...
Lifestyle of Longevity: I think i think i I know what you're going to say and I wasn't going to say it to you in case you hadn't realized it. But go ahead.
K: No, maybe it's another thing that I want to mention, of but but let's let's see.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Go ahead. yeah go ahead
K: um So they have these thumbnails, right? All across there. app or were like their page and for the men it's always a thumbnail of a player
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yeah.
K: doing like a fist pump or like with some sort of victory move like a very strong position really strong like screaming like when they kind of hit a great shot you know kind of
Lifestyle of Longevity: Oh.
K: Victory -esque. pictures. Like. a variation of that and for the women it has been several times that I've seen a thumbnail That was...
K: a woman kind of Making a strange face trying to reach a ball, unclear whether she reached the ball or not. So it was. I've not seen a single time a woman like in a victory pose. It's always like that. I think, Oh God.
K: how did that like Why did they take that picture of her?
Lifestyle of Longevity: Hmm.
K: It really looks strange and it... has bothered me so many times that I now think this is... Worth mentioning it here because the women always look so much.
K: Worse than the men, they are just displayed in such a... in such a different fashion. And I'm annoyed by that.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yes.
K: But that was not what you what you were hinting at, right?
Lifestyle of Longevity: No, I won't talk about what I was inting it Because like I said, I didn't want to tell you.
K: Okay. Anyway, I was i was annoyed.
Lifestyle of Longevity: So I would. I will. i will I will then after the tournament.
K: I was really annoyed and by these and thumbnails and I think they're just not fair.
Lifestyle of Longevity: No, that's really not fair.
K: and Did you find anything out on Blox's recovery?
Lifestyle of Longevity: Not at all. He's happy to be in the next round. I get it
K: Okay.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Interesting. But since he'll be playing...
K: yes
Lifestyle of Longevity: um I never know how to say his name ka
K: Khachanov.
Lifestyle of Longevity: ka Khachanov
K: Khachanov. Yeah, I think.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Khachanov. It's written with a K.
K: I think.
Lifestyle of Longevity: It's a Russian name. Khachanov.
K: Yeah. I'm like 24 % sure. That he's pronounced Khachanov.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Ratchanath, since he'll be playing. Khachanov. I mean he has a chance.
K: He does.
Lifestyle of Longevity: But... But both of them played... Long matches again. And one of them will be in the semifinals.
K: Which is crazy.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Strange things happen.
K: Yes.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Strange.
K: Really strange.
Lifestyle of Longevity: things. happen. That's right. Yeah, Alexander Zverev through very smoothly, very unexciting match against Darderi. Darderi had me wondering, but I think this is a larger topic. I don't understand why people wear caps when it's not daytime.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Is it a style thing?
K: Is it a kind of... hair out of your face. Thing?
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yeah, I'm kind of thinking that you could also... Yeah, I don't know.
K: Or is it like a thing shielding you from... Like overhead lights.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Everyone else.
K: Or, yeah. Everyone else?
Lifestyle of Longevity: yeah I had a... He had a big white cap on.
K: Yeah.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Didn't have a sunglasses, at least I didn't see them.
K: he didn't He didn't wear them.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And he just got me thinking. Even already in the first... um in the first set He like next to him, he had this. pile of um these um
K: Espresso cups?
Lifestyle of Longevity: And it... No, these energy packs. You know that they sometimes like people that run marathons and stuff, these gel packs with carbohydrates in them. He had this pile next to him.
Lifestyle of Longevity: as if he was going to feed through them. like throughout the match and I just think it's so interesting how different people fuel like Coco Goff for example they were mentoring again during her match and maybe we can take that to switch over to the women she was eating Melons and grapes.
K: m
Lifestyle of Longevity: She always has like whole fruits.
K: Yeah.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And Dadira is just sitting ah sitting there with this massive pile of...
K: That's lovely.
Lifestyle of Longevity: of carbohydrate gels. Which is his his... drug of choice.
K: sister
Lifestyle of Longevity: when he's on the court. So I thought, yes. It's interesting how different people are. what different fueling methods they have. um No, Coco um played against Iva Jovic.
Lifestyle of Longevity: I thought it was an amazing match. Did you watch that? Which one was the one that you watched?
K: The Swiantek Zheng match.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Zhongsheng Peng. Um, yes, I, so the, um, then I'll talk about Coco and, and, uh, Jovic and maybe you can then talk on the Svantec match. So it was such a cool match, even though it was a two clear set victory for Coco. I thought Iva Jovic played so well. It really was. There were great, um, exchanges, ball exchanges. I'm really becoming a huge Iva Jovic fan because she has such a.
Lifestyle of Longevity: um forward way of playing like she's always on it she's always trying she's always going for it she's never scared and defensive and takes a step back.
Lifestyle of Longevity: but She's always like on the forward foot. And I love that. It's so, so fun to see her backing herself always again and again. She has this small ritual that in front of important points or at the beginning of a set, she goes to the back wall.
Lifestyle of Longevity: and puts her racket on the back wall and I think she says a few words to herself. So she has this. It was like a nice little ritual. And she was just hanging in there. She was, until the last point, she was not giving up.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And I just really like her attitude. She seems to have a great work work ah ethic. And um yeah, she was really in there. Now you have to talk because I have to cough.
K: Okay. You do that. and I can't contribute on the Goff -Jovic match, though, because I haven't haven't watched it. But I've seen, obviously, that Goff has advanced to the next round.
K: Again, thinking like who would ever beat her, but.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yeah. She is just, her serve is...
K: i mean
Lifestyle of Longevity: so improved. It's absolutely mad. There was always a struggle of hers and it's just so good. I think she did two double faults the entire match and she just looks really happy.
Lifestyle of Longevity: like she wins and she's not only like yes she's like yes and she really smiles like from her heart and it's nice and um she said in the uncourt interview she was saying um On that one point there, I felt like I was running a marathon. It's the first time I was out of breath in a long time.
Lifestyle of Longevity: She's just so fit. Like this is the fourth round
K: It was the first time I was out of breath. You're like, oh, okay.
Lifestyle of Longevity: In a long time. And there's this very legendary um quote of hers, which which I can't quote exactly, but she has once said that she's only been tired.
K: Yeah.
Lifestyle of Longevity: on a tennis court once in her life, and that was when she was 14.
K: Yeah.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And she can remember.
K: It's crazy, right?
Lifestyle of Longevity: She can remember when that was. She remembers the one day. The one day she was dying on a tennis court.
K: Like how? She must be a... Robot.
Lifestyle of Longevity: She's just a super athlete. This woman is so athletic. She also says that she does recovery, but she doesn't really understand why she has to because she feels fine. And yesterday was just one of those days. So, I mean, big props for Jovic for actually making her out of breath.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Because this is something that does not normally happen to Coco Goff, no matter who she's playing. So, um yeah, it was such a high. quality match and the emotions are really high Jovic was crying on her way out she was really she wears her emotions on her sleeve as well which I appreciate in athletes if they dare to do that and um Coco was also saying in her interview that she feels like she's just getting started, Jovic, and that she expects to play her.
Lifestyle of Longevity: frequently on these kind of stages and I think That would be really exciting because I thought that was a great matchup. For both of them, it was just... Really, really awesome women's batch. I really enjoyed that. It was much better than the men's batch that followed. So.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yay, women's tennis.
K: um yay women's tennis um because also i think the story of the day was actually a woman's match which for me was the Shuyang Tech -Zhang Zhenwen match. match It was also the only match that I watched, so it is easy that that is my match of the day. But still, I think the story is just great.
K: um because john ah sheng bang Um, one. against Shriyantek. And she won in a really, really particular fashion because... She was down five love in the first set.
K: And I was not aware, but I've heard this afterwards, that she was also down five love in the game before, like in the match that she had before.
Lifestyle of Longevity: In the final set. Mm hmm.
K: which is... I mean, if you're down five love. that That's not good, right? It's kind of almost losing. Yeah. and almost losing with a bagel. So it is really, really, really not good.
K: And there was this one moment in time when suddenly everything was changed. Everything was changed. And I think this is kind of the very interesting things of tennis, that there are these matches that seem to be very, very one -sided. And you think like, okay, Schwantek will definitely win this.
K: And then from one second to the next, there's just one or two bowls. Where Zheng played well. And that turned everything around. Schwiontek got scared. She was a bit overwhelmed by suddenly her opponent being playing so well when actually she felt like she is she um almost won the first set, right? With the five love.
K: And then everything turned on its head. And. And Zheng not only won the first set, but then also the second set. So it was a two set straight win for Zheng, which is just crazy.
K: And she played so, so, so, so well. And I just think it is. Almost impossible to to even do it once, right? Coming back from a five love, but doing it twice in two matches following each other.
K: ah How? And um it's not against anybody, right? It's against Svantec, who was quite good in her past matches and also who played really well, obviously. in the beginning of the match because she came up one one love, so ah five love. So it is really, really, really great what Zheng did here. And we already talked about her last... um
K: episode because she won the Olympics in 2024, got injured and then couldn't play for a very, very long time. So currently she's. um 100 something. in the um WTA ranking. um But obviously she's playing like a number.
K: I don't know, four or five, something like that. So, oh God, I think it's just beautiful how she's coming back. And oh God, have her face after the match, when she won the match, she was like beaming and was so happy and was just...
K: also very polite with the crowd and with everyone. So I just think that was so great that she. turn this around even though um As you know, I really like Svantec and I would have really loved for her to win as well. And it also...
K: At the one hand side, I was so happy for Zhang. On the other hand side, it broke my heart that Swiatek cried when she left the court. It was just... like her sadness was like physically painful for me and i think it was both of these emotions swirling around within me when i watched the game or when i watched then the the last minutes of the match.
K: And, oh God, that that is what Sten is all about, right? Somebody has to lose. And I'm really, really sorry for Schwiontek. So she was so sad. She was really devastated, but yeah, well done. Zheng, I really enjoyed the match.
Lifestyle of Longevity: But I was... I was interested to hear your thoughts because I mean, what happened? It was just purely mental, you think?
K: Yeah, it was just A few great balls? There were not even so many, it was a bit like I was um hanging like my clothes on ah on a washing line, right? um Like on a drawing.
K: Line, what's the correct English term for that?
Lifestyle of Longevity: washing line.
K: Washing line, okay. So I was hanging um the clothes and I was just... Looking down. for I don't know 20 seconds and I looked up and suddenly the game was like a different I was I was thinking like is this is a different match is this a different person I I just think this was really purely mental because she just she just did some great shots and then believed in herself again that she can win this or maybe she never lost like the faith in herself she just needed these few balls to kind of
K: Ray Kree and... unleash this great tennis that she played from then on. It's really crazy. It was not that Shwiantek was injured or... suddenly playing bad or so. I mean, Schwante got...
K: scared then once she played well, but I think it started with her playing, with Zheng playing well and not, it did not start with Sriyantik choking or something.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And she was playing like. off I saw a few shots she was like Two meters out. like ah past the back like she was just off off
K: Yeah.
K: Yeah. She was.
K: Really hard for Shion Tech, but oh God. I'm really happy for Jung. She will play Rebecca now next. which I think is going to be a really great. Much. That's going to come tomorrow.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yes, Rebecca now.
K: Looking forward. to this.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Not injured at all.
K: No, strange, right?
Lifestyle of Longevity: I'm wondering if the whole... My ankle is not okay thing was maybe a distraction. I don't know.
K: How can you go from not walking at all or from not being able to walk? to winning so efficiently.
Lifestyle of Longevity: The magic of modern medicine.
K: Hmm. Maybe.
Lifestyle of Longevity: I don't know. She beat Naomi Osaka. Hmm. Which is sad because we don't get Naomi's outfits anymore. She had on a silver outfit this time. Which was...
K: We'll miss that for sure.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Cool. I like that a lot.
K: her outfits.
Lifestyle of Longevity: I have not heard. Anything, have you heard what she said about gut leaving?
K: Mm -mm. No.
Lifestyle of Longevity: No.
K: No. I haven't.
Lifestyle of Longevity: We are not offering you a lot of insights today.
K: No, but...
Lifestyle of Longevity: Um...
K: Really go back and watch the Zheng Shiantek match. That was great. And the Coco Gauff match, obviously, as well, as you mentioned.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yes, the Osaka one like it wasn't necessarily so. um So exciting because Rybakina was just obviously a lot better. End of story. really
K: Hmm.
Lifestyle of Longevity: also no great um rallies in that one either so no so yeah so that's the um the women and the men yes
K: Um... Did Mira and Reva advance yesterday or? Now she advanced it. Yeah, she advanced yesterday, right?
Lifestyle of Longevity: Oh she did. Yeah, yeah she did.
K: It wasn't the day before.
Lifestyle of Longevity: That was another turnaround.
K: Because and then we also need to talk about her. Mm hmm.
Lifestyle of Longevity: That was another turnaround. Look at us forgetting Mira as well, like everyone else.
K: Yes, again. So we should really... um Mention her again. then tomorrow no the day after tomorrow when she's playing
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yeah, so she played against...
K: Oh, tomorrow she's playing.
Lifestyle of Longevity: She played against Potapova.
K: Yep.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Mm hmm. put a purple on the first set and then mira seems to have turned it around and I think Potapova injured herself on the last in the last game but she was behind anyway. So that wasn't, I mean, of course you could theoretically always turn around the match.
Lifestyle of Longevity: but she was already behind and then she injured herself which of course is always not so cool
K: Mm -mm.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Mmm. But I think that's also both the French Open player ah winner as well as the Wimbledon player on the women's side are both in the quarterfinals.
K: Yeah. yep
Lifestyle of Longevity: And they could meet in the final.
K: That's true.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And I think no one's... considering that which is fun. It just shows how everyone has like Sabalenka and Coco in mind.
K: Yeah. yeah
Lifestyle of Longevity: And there's these two. Noskova and Mira Andreeva just creeping up. Getting put on the smaller courts.
K: Yes, I'm also so i also really looking forward to the semifinals for the women, right? It could be... Coco against Rybakina. Or Koku against Zheng. I think both that would be... Interesting.
K: So I'm really looking forward.
Lifestyle of Longevity: But do you enjoy watching Rebecca now? Like, I just don't enjoy watching her.
K: Oh, I would enjoy one she's playing against Goff. Because I think that would be just so. Great to see! like also rebecca is this is it a semi -final that she has a chance to become world number one i think so right
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yes. If she reaches the semi -final, no matter what, Zabalenka does, she's world number one.
K: Yeah, so there's quite a lot at stake for her. And obviously Coco wants to win the tournament and everybody thinks she will. So I think that's going to be, or would be, spot and we don't know, right, if they are going to play each other, but that would be an interesting semifinal.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yeah, i just I don't know. her Her game style doesn't excite me. But you know. We'll take whatever comes. Yes. So that's it. So today, the quarterfinal start, or did you have anything else about yesterday?
K: Mm -mm.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Okay. So... um Today, the quarterfinals start and... This is the last day where there's a mixture of men's and women's matches on the two days. As soon as we go to the semifinals.
Lifestyle of Longevity: We have ah two women's matches in a day and two men's matches in a day. They do that to kind of make it less unfair leading up to the final. Um... Yes. but it of course means that the women that play on the second day do have one day where they have to play exactly the next day when they reach the semi -final but A, I think they all don't care as long as they reach the semifinal. They're just like, whatever.
Lifestyle of Longevity: So um today we have four matches coming up. And that is, I think Sabalenka. The subbie start.
K: yeah Yeah, I think so.
Lifestyle of Longevity: I think she does.
K: against Noskova.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yep, so there we go. We will find out. If the French Open... um No, the Wimbledon winner. if she will beat Sabalenka. And stop her.
K: Yeah, i really I would really love to watch that match, but I'm on a business event tonight. so most likely I will not be able to see it. Also I don't have the time to re -watch it.
K: Tomorrow morning. Because I'm traveling tomorrow morning and I want to see the... Carlos match, which also I have no clue how this. Will it work? So yeah.
K: You have to tell me about everything tomorrow when we have our podcast. because I'm really excited about the Sabalenka -Nuskova match.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Apparently, somehow the US Open app isn't showing me the schedule for today. I feel like it was yesterday, but... Oh no, here it is. Okay, so yeah, we're starting off with Sabah Leng against Noskova. That will be interesting. That's going to be at 5 .30 European time, basically, essentially European time. That's going to start off. Then we have TFO against Mickelson. That's a U .S.-American.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Battle. And. It'll be so interesting to see if Tiafoe can keep up the high level that he was playing and said idea against Medvedev. But Mikkelsen, apparently, I have never seen him play, and apparently he's just as good as all the other Americans, just was unlucky so far. so
Lifestyle of Longevity: That'll be interesting. Since I'm sick. I've cancelled everything that I had planned, so I think I can watch some of these matches. That's the upside of being sick. Then tomorrow morning, starting at one o 'clock in the morning German time, we have Jessica Pegula against ah Emma Navarro. Also a US -American battle.
Lifestyle of Longevity: the women fighting for their spot in the semi -finals. And then, of course, I think that's definitely the highlight match of the day is the Alcaraz against Ben Shelton. That's just going to be so interesting.
Lifestyle of Longevity: like can
K: Oh, God.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Can Shelton up his game? to basically maybe compete with a not 100 % Alcaraz because... He doesn't look like he's not 100%, but we haven't seen the 100 % yet either. So it could be.
Lifestyle of Longevity: either way it could be super interesting It could also be, is either going to be a clear win for Alcaraz? Or it's going to be a so ah battle. I don't think there's a world where it's a clear win for Shelton.
K: God, I would really love to watch that match. I already checked out this morning whether I can download some of the relives and I can't.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Hmm.
K: They don't have the rights for that.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yeah.
K: So I will not be able to download the match. Also unclear if it's... finished at all before I have to leave um for my train. But of course, streaming will be really difficult on the train, so that means I will most likely not have Watched it once we speak.
K: ah to at I think, right? We we are meeting tomorrow.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And then do you want to talk about it or do you want to not talk about it?
K: I want to talk about it, but I will still try to watch it, rewatch it after that.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Okay, you drop me a message before we speak.
K: Yep.
Lifestyle of Longevity: What we're talking about and what we're not talking about. um Yes.
K: Yes, I am considering. Briefly considering. Really getting up earlier. to watch it live when it happens, when it unfolds.
Lifestyle of Longevity: m
K: To really get up at half past four or something.
Lifestyle of Longevity: ah Yeah, I would guess it starts, I mean...
K: I think it will start maybe... Four.
Lifestyle of Longevity: More through it.
K: Yeah.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Three, half past three. I would say half past three.
K: That's definitely not a time when I will get up, but maybe I will join from the second set.
Lifestyle of Longevity: and
K: and start watching at half past four or something.
Lifestyle of Longevity: I've possible.
K: Let's see.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Yes. So that is an exciting um time coming up and to have a look which other quarterfinals have been set up on the men's side. um As we already mentioned, it will be Zverev against... um The other quarterfinals will be Zverev against Van der Zandschulp.
Lifestyle of Longevity: and um shahan of with each other
K: Khachanov.
Lifestyle of Longevity: hatchanoff You just don't speak speak the K, yeah? hatanov
K: I don't know I think so.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Against blocks. Which is just crazy. You got this guy seated one then you have two unseated guys and one guy seated 28
K: It's crazy.
Lifestyle of Longevity: that's that side and the other two quarterfinals on the women's side which will be then the ne - the next day so we will comment on it um another time will be andriva against goff and Zhongxin Wang against Rybakina.
K: This is going to be interesting.
Lifestyle of Longevity: I have read somewhere like in the women's, we have the people seated one, two, three. four, five and six. In the final eight.
K: Mmm.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And then we have one person who's not seated. She actually went through qualifying, Zhou Shengwen.
K: Yes.
Lifestyle of Longevity: like madness um and Emma Navarro who's 26 but otherwise one two three four five six
K: What an ordeal.
Lifestyle of Longevity: That is quite a... A splendid array of women right there.
K: Mm hmm.
Lifestyle of Longevity: With the men we have number one number two
K: For the men, not so much.
Lifestyle of Longevity: Then number eight, number 11. number 28, and one, two, three unseated people.
Lifestyle of Longevity: It is crazy.
K: Anyway.
Lifestyle of Longevity: it's very crazy so i think that was all for today
K: Yep. I think so too.
Lifestyle of Longevity: And we're excited to have the quarterfinal starting. And um if all goes well and k Christina manages to find a little corner to podcast tomorrow, we will be sending out. a podcast tomorrow to speak about what happened in the first quarter finals.
K: Yes.
Lifestyle of Longevity: See you then. Bye.
K: Bye.
