Karen Somerville is co founder and director of Angels’ Share Glass & Co director of The Fife Whisky Festival. Angels’ Share Glass was founded in 2013 by Father & Daughter. Tom Young MBE was a world renowned glassblower and between them they came up with the idea to create Whisky filled Angels to represent the well known legend told in almost every distillery around the world. The Angels’ Share is the 2% of alcohol lost to evaporation during Scotch whisky’s maturation process. The hand blown angels hold a perfect amount of Scotch Whisky and then it is completely sealed in, not for drinking only The Angels’ Share! The process and story telling behind the manufacturing of these little angels has won both Karen and the Team award winning recognition in the business and Whisky community. The company also has grown its handmade glassware range to create a premium range of whisky and spirit glassware for the Whisky Connoisseur. Selling all over the world with distribution networks in 4 major continents. Karen was awarded Entrepreneur of The Year 2015 and the Business has won many accolades such as Best Family Business by ASB in 2021 and Business Women Scotland , Chamber Awards and FSB national awards. Karen has grown the business from a small home business to a growing enterprise with state of the art glassblowing studio, 8 staff and seasonal employees, all are fully committed to the family business and its vision for growth. Karen’s passion for whisky also shines through with her running an annual Whisky Festival in Fife now in its fifth year. Website: www.angelsshareglass.com Facebook | Twitter
