00:00:24
Speaker
What's going on?
00:00:25
Speaker
It's E!
00:00:27
Speaker
Bigger.
00:00:28
Speaker
Welcome back.
00:00:29
Speaker
Another episode of Bigger Talks.
00:00:31
Speaker
And I have a special guest and co-host, a good friend of mine.
00:00:35
Speaker
She's amazing.
00:00:36
Speaker
She's phenomenal.
00:00:37
Speaker
I call her the great help.
00:00:40
Speaker
She helps so much in so many ways.
00:00:43
Speaker
Amina, how are you?
00:00:44
Speaker
Good.
00:00:46
Speaker
How are you?
00:00:48
Speaker
I am great.
00:00:49
Speaker
Oh, I'm great too.

Amina's Journey and Spiritual Exploration

00:00:50
Speaker
Okay, can you tell them a little bit about yourself, how we met, et cetera, et cetera?
00:00:56
Speaker
Yes.
00:00:57
Speaker
Hi, everybody.
00:00:58
Speaker
My name is Amina.
00:00:59
Speaker
I'm from Houston, Texas.
00:01:01
Speaker
But I've been living in Los Angeles for nine years.
00:01:05
Speaker
I came out to model and act and do everything in entertainment.
00:01:10
Speaker
But I took some time away to explore the spiritual world, which led me to meet my great friend here, Eric Bigger.
00:01:21
Speaker
I feel like we did not meet by accident.
00:01:24
Speaker
So I'm very grateful to be here.
00:01:27
Speaker
But I also want to elaborate on me meeting Eric.

Conversation on Determination and Accountability

00:01:31
Speaker
We were outside his apartment 2014.
00:01:38
Speaker
We were talking, like, we always have conversations about God, finances, how we're all going to grow positively.
00:01:48
Speaker
And he was hype, super hype.
00:01:51
Speaker
He be so hype, y'all.
00:01:53
Speaker
And he was like, I mean, I'm about to write my book.
00:01:57
Speaker
I'm about to do this.
00:01:58
Speaker
I'm about to do that.
00:01:59
Speaker
But you know what?
00:02:01
Speaker
No one really cares.
00:02:02
Speaker
So I got to make this shit happen.
00:02:06
Speaker
I said that?
00:02:06
Speaker
You did.
00:02:07
Speaker
Damn, girl.
00:02:08
Speaker
You did, you did.
00:02:09
Speaker
I'm going to

The Power of Self-Responsibility

00:02:10
Speaker
make it happen.
00:02:12
Speaker
So by him saying that, it was funny because I would always think like that.
00:02:18
Speaker
Like at the end of the day, you know, like at that time of our lives, we were...
00:02:24
Speaker
growing.
00:02:25
Speaker
So our finances weren't so great.
00:02:29
Speaker
But we also have big, big, big dreams.
00:02:31
Speaker
And we were in this sort of turbulence where we had to figure out how we could make life work.
00:02:38
Speaker
And
00:02:39
Speaker
you have to hold yourself accountable.
00:02:42
Speaker
So I would always say to myself, no one cares, and not in a negative way where it's like, no one cares about you, but at the end of the day, you have yourself.
00:02:54
Speaker
So when you're able to hold yourself accountable and look at the term, no one cares, you're put in a position where you have ultimate power, right?
00:03:07
Speaker
Please elaborate on what you meant by that, Biggie.
00:03:10
Speaker
Holding yourself accountable?
00:03:11
Speaker
Yes.
00:03:12
Speaker
No one cares?
00:03:12
Speaker
Yes.
00:03:13
Speaker
So in a nutshell, no one cares, meaning at the end of the day, as we just said and will say, you have to look yourself in the mirror.
00:03:21
Speaker
You have to look at yourself.
00:03:23
Speaker
You have to look at your life, your environment, the things around you, the things you believe, your perspective, your perception, and all those things, and be accountable for it.
00:03:33
Speaker
And you have to care more than anybody else because no one can be you more than you.
00:03:39
Speaker
Not your mama, not your papa, not your sister, your cousin, your brother, your spouse, your partner, your business partner, not even your money that you might have or need.
00:03:50
Speaker
Everything starts and ends with the person, thyself.
00:03:55
Speaker
So you have to care more than anything and you have to hold yourself accountable, meaning that gives you power because you're taking full responsibility to get things done.
00:04:06
Speaker
And you're not pointing the finger.
00:04:08
Speaker
You're not blaming.
00:04:10
Speaker
You're taking full responsibility.
00:04:12
Speaker
And you're holding yourself to a higher standard.
00:04:15
Speaker
Correct.
00:04:15
Speaker
That's power.
00:04:16
Speaker
Correct.
00:04:17
Speaker
And to elaborate on power, there are many metaphors out that you can use to see exactly what

Metaphors of True Power

00:04:28
Speaker
power is.
00:04:28
Speaker
And a lot of people think of power as something physical, something loud, but it's really the opposite.
00:04:37
Speaker
Power is within.
00:04:39
Speaker
It's something that holds you down, that keeps you still.
00:04:44
Speaker
There's a great metaphor out there, actually a couple that I'm going to mention about power.
00:04:51
Speaker
And one of them is...
00:04:55
Speaker
Empty barrels make the loudest noise.
00:04:58
Speaker
And I never really understood that until, you know, I started reading and realizing the person that is the loudest in the room, the person that is always looking for fights and talking about how they're going to do this and do that.
00:05:17
Speaker
They're actually the weakest ones.
00:05:20
Speaker
Now, the person with power knows him or herself.
00:05:26
Speaker
The person with power is steel.
00:05:28
Speaker
The person with power is certain.
00:05:31
Speaker
So that term, empty barrels make the loudest noise.
00:05:36
Speaker
If you really throw an empty barrel down a staircase, it's going to clink.
00:05:40
Speaker
Clink, clink, clink, clink, clink.
00:05:43
Speaker
But if you throw a barrel full of wine down a staircase, it's gonna go boom, boom.
00:05:50
Speaker
You'll still hear it, but the noise will be very sturdy, but loud.
00:05:56
Speaker
Like you know something is coming down when a barrel full of wine goes down a staircase.
00:06:04
Speaker
But, you know, when you start to really learn and grow, you realize that power is stillness.
00:06:11
Speaker
Power is within.
00:06:12
Speaker
There's a book that you mentioned.
00:06:14
Speaker
Stillness Speaks by Ed Hart Tolley.
00:06:17
Speaker
Yes.
00:06:18
Speaker
Less is more, for one.
00:06:21
Speaker
There's another great book, 48 Laws of Power, by Robert Greene.
00:06:25
Speaker
And one of the laws state, say less than necessary.
00:06:29
Speaker
Mm-hmm.
00:06:29
Speaker
There's another law that says too much circulation takes the value down.
00:06:36
Speaker
Wow.
00:06:37
Speaker
So you're giving a person too much of your time.
00:06:39
Speaker
You're talking too much.
00:06:41
Speaker
You're giving too much.
00:06:42
Speaker
Right.
00:06:42
Speaker
You're taking down your value of who you are and what you are.
00:06:45
Speaker
So now...
00:06:46
Speaker
You're not as exclusive.
00:06:48
Speaker
Right.
00:06:48
Speaker
You're giving people more access to you.
00:06:49
Speaker
Right, right.
00:06:50
Speaker
You're not as powerful because you're giving too much.
00:06:54
Speaker
There's a time and place for everything.
00:06:56
Speaker
So you got to pull back a bit.
00:06:59
Speaker
And not that you can't be yourself, but that's understanding your power, who to give to, who to receive from, and who to listen to.
00:07:09
Speaker
Right.
00:07:10
Speaker
But you got to hold yourself accountable.

Jay-Z vs Kanye: Expressions of Power

00:07:12
Speaker
So, so let me ask you this quick comparison Jay Z and Kanye West.
00:07:18
Speaker
These are two very powerful men.
00:07:21
Speaker
They were obviously friends if they weren't on the same wavelength, they would never cross paths by you mentioning what you just said made me think Jay Z.
00:07:34
Speaker
Obviously is a very powerful man He knows who he is he knows what he wants to do and he always executes Regardless of what anybody thinks right?
00:07:47
Speaker
I believe that Kanye West has the same motives, but his delivery is different to compare and not saying one is better than the other but
00:08:01
Speaker
when Kanye West is trying to execute, there's a specific delivery that he takes that doesn't respond well or he means well, but the media doesn't translate it in the way that he means.
00:08:20
Speaker
So he's condemned.
00:08:24
Speaker
for trying to do something that he believes in his mind.
00:08:28
Speaker
Like I'm really trying to make change and I'm trying to help people.
00:08:31
Speaker
But I think what he lacks in his power is the delivery.
00:08:39
Speaker
A lot of times when you're trying to do something good, but the delivery comes off wrong, it devalues the purpose.
00:08:49
Speaker
So for instance,
00:08:53
Speaker
Kanye West will do a TMZ interview, whereas Jay-Z won't even talk to anybody at all, but be able to execute tenfold.
00:09:03
Speaker
Now, Kanye will still be able to execute, but he goes through so much turbulence to get there where that's really unnecessary.
00:09:12
Speaker
I also have this other analogy about the hurricane where I asked Eric,
00:09:20
Speaker
where's the safest place in the hurricane?

Finding Peace Amidst Chaos

00:09:23
Speaker
And what was your response to that?
00:09:26
Speaker
I said a vacant building, somewhere underneath a bridge, something, I don't know.
00:09:32
Speaker
I forgot, but it was something of that sort.
00:09:36
Speaker
So in response to that, a very good friend of mine, Yancy Berry, came up to me.
00:09:44
Speaker
I was going through something at the time and I was expressing to him my issues.
00:09:49
Speaker
And he goes, where is the safest place in a hurricane?
00:09:54
Speaker
And I, my mind was wandering.
00:09:58
Speaker
I was like, I really don't know.
00:10:00
Speaker
So he goes, Amina, the safest place in the hurricane is in the middle, the I. When,
00:10:10
Speaker
Turbulence is going on in your life when the world is spinning, when everything is just going haywire.
00:10:16
Speaker
You know, when it rains, it pours.
00:10:19
Speaker
The best place to be is still.
00:10:23
Speaker
Be still.
00:10:24
Speaker
Stillness speaks.
00:10:25
Speaker
The eye of the hurricane is the most calm, most beautiful place.
00:10:29
Speaker
While everything is erupting and things are being destroyed, in the middle of all of that,
00:10:37
Speaker
There's peace.
00:10:39
Speaker
So if you look at that and you look at these metaphors, you realize that in your delivery and the way you react to people and the way you do certain things by being still, by being patient, that would not only allow you to execute, but peace of mind, that's so expensive and it's free.
00:10:57
Speaker
It's expensive, but it's free.
00:11:00
Speaker
Yes, called a spiritual currency.
00:11:02
Speaker
That's how you get a peace of mind.
00:11:04
Speaker
But just to, you know, put that all together like a hurricane, take it back to Kanye and Jay-Z.
00:11:12
Speaker
So Kanye West, I believe, on the inside, is experiencing a hurricane.
00:11:19
Speaker
turbulence mentally emotionally and it's disrupting how he really wants to be and i think he has the right intentions he's doing the right thing but it's how he's doing it and when he's doing it that throws things off jay-z on the other hand less is more like i said before but he's not looking for attention because he is the attention because his intention
00:11:44
Speaker
is to expand, to do more, to give more.
00:11:47
Speaker
But they say real G's move in silence.
00:11:51
Speaker
So he's very quiet.
00:11:52
Speaker
He's very peaceful.
00:11:53
Speaker
He's very strategic.
00:11:55
Speaker
And he's not really emotional.
00:11:58
Speaker
At least we don't see that in his business deals, his raps.
00:12:03
Speaker
He just, you know.
00:12:05
Speaker
But I think they're two different people.
00:12:06
Speaker
I do believe Kanye is a genius.
00:12:09
Speaker
I think he is before his time.
00:12:10
Speaker
And the wave he's on, the frequency he's on, people got to catch up to us.
00:12:15
Speaker
So sometimes when he's speaking,
00:12:17
Speaker
It doesn't make sense because people can't vibrate to his understanding.
00:12:21
Speaker
Right.
00:12:21
Speaker
Because he's speaking from like his highest self.
00:12:24
Speaker
Right.
00:12:24
Speaker
And it doesn't make sense to a lot of people.
00:12:27
Speaker
Because to create a sneaker and a clothing line and to be an artist and be great at it takes a lot of creativity.
00:12:35
Speaker
Right.
00:12:35
Speaker
Takes a lot of responsibility.
00:12:37
Speaker
And sometimes your delivery will be off.
00:12:39
Speaker
Right.
00:12:39
Speaker
Right.
00:12:40
Speaker
But everything else is on.
00:12:41
Speaker
But in all sense, the hurricane, you know, it's not easy at times when it's coming from within.
00:12:47
Speaker
Right.
00:12:48
Speaker
But if you learn how to control it and be at peace and be the eye of it, you can have power.
00:12:54
Speaker
Ooh, I like that.
00:12:56
Speaker
Power, power, power.
00:12:57
Speaker
Yay.
00:12:58
Speaker
So, yeah, I mean, accountability, responsibility.

Closing Thoughts on Self-Accountability

00:13:04
Speaker
No one cares.
00:13:06
Speaker
And no one should care more than you about your life, about where you want to go and things you want to get done in this world.
00:13:14
Speaker
Yep.
00:13:15
Speaker
I personally agree.
00:13:17
Speaker
So the book that we recommend for you guys to read is...
00:13:21
Speaker
is stillness speaks by Eckhart Tolle yes um we'll put that on social media for you guys and also just wishing y'all peace of mind that peace of mind spiritual currency love inspiration and um don't beat yourself up you know don't put yourself down
00:13:42
Speaker
And try your best to be your best with all that you have.
00:13:48
Speaker
Because some people have nothing at all, but they do have themselves.
00:13:53
Speaker
So be yourself.
