Introduction to Season 2

00:00:15
Speaker
Hello, everyone. My name is Father Jacob Rouse, and I would like to welcome you to a brand new season of the Dubuqueristic Revival podcast.
00:00:25
Speaker
Because that's the name we're going with. The second voice you're hearing is my brother in Christ, Father Kevin Earlywine, and he is joining me for another season.
00:00:36
Speaker
um Season two, Dubuqueristic Revival podcast. Well, If you were listening to the past season and the many episodes that we did, you might be asking yourself, well, isn't the Eucharistic revival over?
00:00:52
Speaker
I mean, that was so last year, wasn't it? So why are we doing a season two and why are we naming it the same thing? Well, yes and no.
00:01:03
Speaker
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the entire Christian life. So it's part of everything we do as Catholics in a way. It's the heart of what we do because Christ is at the heart of everything we do.
00:01:15
Speaker
Yeah. True. i would I would agree with that.

Significance of the Eucharist

00:01:18
Speaker
um And actually, that was a pop quiz because in the ah last season, we talked about extensively that the dubuchaist or sorry that's our podcast the Eucharistic revival, the thing happening in our nation and in our archdiocese, is meant to be a starting point, ah a source, if you will.
00:01:36
Speaker
And as we continue to journey through life, going to Mass, ah participating in the sacraments, and um doing good works to others ah that the we are journeying towards the source, which is the Eucharist.
00:01:50
Speaker
So um I think the Eucharist is a good thing and having more revival is a good thing. And so that's one of the reasons why we're here again.
00:01:59
Speaker
What are we going to be doing in this season though?

Exploring the Archdiocese of Dubuque

00:02:01
Speaker
Yeah, so this season is, ah well, certainly last season was, like I said, we were very explicitly focused on the Eucharist.
00:02:10
Speaker
And so all of our episodes had some explicit connection to the Eucharist, whether events happening or the Eucharistic centered ministries or people's conversion stories that involve the Eucharist.
00:02:22
Speaker
This season, while the Eucharist is still implicitly a part of it, um it won't necessarily be as explicitly focused on the Eucharist. We will be focusing on still, though, things within the Archdiocese of Dubuque, but with a bit of a broader focus, not as explicitly specific to the Eucharist. So, Father Jacob, I've been learning that there are a lot of neat things happening in the Church of the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
00:02:50
Speaker
And I continue to hear about like neat things happening in parishes in our diocese. different ministries, different kind of spirituality and prayer groups, ah and just different, yeah, different religious groups doing different and neat things.
00:03:04
Speaker
um And I want to learn more about them because to me, realize there's a lot more happening in our church than I think, unfortunately, lot of people realize. Some people only see what's happening or perceive what's not happening in their parish and aren't even aware that there's all these incredible things happening in their church of the archdiocese.

Vibrant Spiritual Groups

00:03:23
Speaker
So, and especially now that we don't have the witness newspaper, um we we wanted to help highlight what are some neat things going on. The church is alive. There's beautiful things happening.
00:03:34
Speaker
Like, did you know, Father Jacob, there is a secular Franciscan spirituality prayer group in Mason City, Iowa, I just learned this year. I did not know that.
00:03:45
Speaker
And it's only one of three. There's also one in in in Waterloo and one in Dubuque. I had no idea. So we'll be highlighting that. Also, I continue to hear about really neat things happening at our public universities, Iowa State and University of Northern Iowa.
00:04:01
Speaker
They have Catholic students centers there and there is just... There is just a lot of incredible things happening there. So a lot of on fire things. So I hear about those. And so anyways, and I'm like, I want to learn more about them. And I want to share all these, the fruits of these beautiful ministries that are happening. Those are just a couple examples.
00:04:18
Speaker
There's also other groups that exist in the diocese, ACCW, the Archdiocese and Council of cancel Catholic Women who do things. Uh-huh. There's a Carmelite spirituality group. There's other people who have other podcasts within our diocese.
00:04:33
Speaker
And so we'll probably have podcasts on podcast episodes just to highlight kind of the neat things that are happening across the diocese.

Evangelization and Marriage Prep

00:04:41
Speaker
Well, ah did you know that there is a being rolled out a brand new framework for evangelization?
00:04:49
Speaker
Oh, that too. Yeah. I did. We'll be talking about that too. Did you also know that there's a brand new framework being rolled out for marriage prep? Yes, I did. Okay. Well, but our listeners might not know.
00:05:02
Speaker
Exactly. Yes. So I think you, dear listener and Kevin, you are in luck because I also want to learn about these things. And that sounds like a great format for a season two of a podcast.
00:05:16
Speaker
Mm-hmm.
00:05:18
Speaker
Yeah, so so we'll be highlighting these different events, ministries, groups. And I might add, dear listeners, if if you hear about some really neat ministry or someone in the diocese who's doing something that seems really filled with the Spirit, we're also open to suggestions and learning more about what's happening.
00:05:39
Speaker
So if that's something, if you want to share with us, you can look us up. You can email me, Father Kevin Earlywine, k.earlywine, E-A-R-L-E-Y-W-I-N-E,
00:05:49
Speaker
at dbqarch.org. That's shorthand for DubuqueArchdiocese.org. So ah let us know also, if you hear of things you think we should talk about, neat things happening in the Archdiocese, feel free to let us know because we want to learn about them and we want to share those with others um to inspire people, to help people know that the spirit is in fact alive and moving and doing much more than we often realize or imagine.

Episode Release Schedule and Engagement

00:06:18
Speaker
So we will um continue on with a uploading schedule. And we will continue to highlight things that are going on in the archdiocese, things that are worthy of our attention, things that are worthy of ah participation and that are all implicitly linked to the Eucharist.
00:06:39
Speaker
So how how often can we expect episodes, Father Jacob? Well, the schedule we're going with is the 1st and 15th of every month. All right. So on whatever podcasting platforms you use,
00:06:52
Speaker
Hopefully those will become available twice a month, first and 15th each month. So be watching out for those future ones and then feel free to share those with others as well.

Season Preview and Listener Invitation

00:07:02
Speaker
So you may be looking at the time stamp of this podcast and I realize that it's pretty short.
00:07:10
Speaker
And that is because this is basically a.5 episode of merely a commercial telling you that this podcast is coming. So we are going to wrap this one up and continue on our revival in the Archdiocese.
00:07:28
Speaker
Amen. I'll see you in the Eucharist.
