Welcome to Tony's Game Lounge, a biweekly podcast that covers everything in the world of video games, TCG, tabletop, and more. Here's your host, Tony14.

Guest Eliana Returns

00:00:21
Speaker
Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of Tony's Game Lounge. I'm your host, as always, Tony14. And joining me this week, we're welcoming back another YouTuber back into the podcast, a variety streamer to mention Eliana.
00:00:37
Speaker
Hello! Thank you for having me back. Thanks for coming back, Eliana. Welcome back. How you been? I've been pretty good. I'm actually like...
00:00:47
Speaker
I've been so busy the last few months with like a busy college semester and it's finally over. And I'm just like, oh my gosh, the first thing I get to do is podcast. Let's go because I haven't had time for like collabs and stuff. So I'm very excited to be back in like the social scene. I'm like, I'm so happy about it. So is this the end of college for you and you still have another like year to do?

Danganronpa V3 Ending Controversy

00:01:08
Speaker
I have, I have another, I think two years to go because I didn't go to college during the pandemic. I worked full time. So I'm doing,
00:01:16
Speaker
I'm doing all the college things now. Oh boy. Well, at least you get a summer of relaxing before busyness ensues back up in the fall. I'll presume. Uh, well, because you're back, we do have a brand new intro thing. Uh, since you've already done your loading screen once before, uh, we now get to take, we now need to get your hot take. What is your hottest video game take?
00:01:42
Speaker
I'm gonna go for something real controversial and I'm gonna say that the ending of Danganronpa V3 was one of the best endings in video game history.
00:01:56
Speaker
OK, for people who have played V3, you know, that is a hot take. That is a very hot take, my God. It's the thing with that ending is I hated it, too. When I first saw it, I hated it, too. And then I and then I sat down with my friend who was showing me it. And we had a long conversation about it. And one of the things that like really kind of hammered home the message of that game and how
00:02:26
Speaker
important things can be even if they're not real was Sorry spoilers for anyone who hasn't played v3. Yes It's been out for like five years. So I Don't feel as bad. Um With the whole like nothing is real and therefore nothing matters and then they started playing Claire de lune My first reaction that I said out loud, how dare you play Kaede song? Not Claire de lune Kaede song
00:02:57
Speaker
Which kind of, I think, itself hammers home the message of how important these stories are, even if they're not real. And I've never seen a game do something as ballsy as that. And it's definitely an ending you need to sit with. It definitely is. Oh my god. I love that ending so much now.
00:03:21
Speaker
I think it's also, I think another reason why people hate it is because I think it closes the door on Danganronpa for good. I don't think Spike Chun stuff will ever make another Danganronpa game. No, but also like, if you look between like 1, 2, and V3, how much they step up each of the trials, and how people have like complained about certain trials,
00:03:47
Speaker
They're gonna run out of ideas eventually. They're closing it before people are asking to let it die. And honestly, I have a lot of respect for that. I have a lot of respect for when companies are able to be like, we have said all we wanna say on this story, we don't wanna stretch it out into something that isn't going to be good.

Game Adaptations and Exclusivity

00:04:06
Speaker
So if we can't make a good quality product, we're not going to make more.
00:04:11
Speaker
It's like with like Lionsgate and the Hunger Games movies where they're like, we're not making any more Hunger Games movies unless Suzanne writes another book, like, even though we could milk the series. Like, it's like we don't want to put something out unless they doing that anyways with the new like origin film for. No, no, that was that was a prequel that Suzanne wrote. Oh, OK. I didn't know that she I had written that. Yeah, no, no, she she wrote that. So then they were like, OK, well, we'll make a movie then. Oh, OK. Yeah.
00:04:39
Speaker
Is that, is that, is it just like a one piece film, like one piece film, a singular, like a singular prequel or is it getting, or is that going to get like a trilogy as well? It's a singular, it's a singular prequel. It's a long movie, but it's, it's just one movie that covers like the origins of like President Snow and kind of how he got to where he is now. It was, it was an interesting watch as someone who hasn't seen like the Hunger Games films or read the books since they originally came out.
00:05:07
Speaker
Yeah, I I've never seen a Hunger Games film in my life or read the books. I just know the things because Internet. Yeah, fair enough. That's totally valid.
00:05:19
Speaker
Yeah, but that was definitely a hot take. You asked for the hottest take. I did. There we go. I think that's the hottest take we've gotten so far. I love that game. I enjoy V3 is great. I still prefer the second one. I still like Goodbye Despair the most. Interesting. That's my least favorite, actually. Really? Yeah. A lot of people are really surprised, but it's just...
00:05:48
Speaker
I had a really bad experience with that game in terms of I didn't know everything about the game. All I knew was that Nagito made it past the first trial. So I was like, okay, I can interact with you later. But if you don't interact with Nagito in the first chapter, you're barred from doing any social link events with him.
00:06:10
Speaker
And as someone who I think is objectively the most interesting character in that game, to literally like lock him up for the entirety of chapter two. I also didn't like the motivation of chapter two. I, maybe that's another hot take of mine is I don't like talking about the two very much. Like gives, I mean, it literally gives us best

Nintendo Indie World Showcase Review

00:06:30
Speaker
girl though. Who is best girl? Chiaki is best girl.
00:06:36
Speaker
Mmm, I do love Chiaki. I I do love Chiaki very much. I don't know if she's best girl. I mean if for people who disagree just go watch Danganronpa 3. I did watch Danganronpa 3. I cried so much. Oh, I love Chiaki. That's she's probably She's like second best girl. And also if you're saying that Danganronpa 2 is the worst Danganronpa game clearly you haven't played Ultra Despair Girls.
00:07:03
Speaker
I did not play Ultra Despair Girls because I was told A, it's too jank to play. I mean, the jankness is bearable. The jankness is bearable. And I've also been told there's a lot of heavy subjects in that, even more so than the other games. So I should take my time with it. I've seen like three episodes of like a playthrough of it. And I got to the part with like
00:07:32
Speaker
the little ultimate PE, and I was just like, yeah, okay, yeah, I need to take my time with this. Oh yeah, I mean, he's only the first one though. I know, but if that part made me super uncomfortable and I know they're gonna get worse. Oh yeah, no, the third one's absolutely the worst. Is that the, I know what's up with the pink haired girl. I do know her deal and I'm like, oh no. Yeah, a bondage boy though, I don't really, I don't really remember what hit. I just, I just remember that me and my chat ended up calling him bondage boy.
00:08:03
Speaker
Which guy? The one who looks like he's in bondage, clearly. Oh, then. Jotaro, I think his name was Jotaro or something like that. Oh, my gosh. He's but like, I know the reason he wears the mask. Yes, we know the reason why. So sad.
00:08:23
Speaker
I mean, to be fair, do you want a small spoiler? I guess I know. I know a lot about the game. So you can go ahead. You watched V3. You said you. I'm sorry. You watched Danganronpa 3. You watched all of it. You know that all the kids live.
00:08:39
Speaker
Yes. Yeah. Because there's a specific anime episode in the future. It just features all of them. That's basically Ultra Despair Girls. Yeah. Yeah. That was kind of my internal Ultra Despair Girls was that episode. Like I know about Pickle Child and I know she's like literally the worst. So I was like, oh my God, she's behind it. She's behind everything. She just sends herself into space and it's just like, oh,
00:09:05
Speaker
It was just, OK, bye. Bye. Hope you find your dad. Listen, no one said these games or this series as a whole was normal. Yeah, it's a very weird spike. It's a lot of Spike Chunsoft's games except for the Pokรฉmon Mystery Dungeon series. Despite Chunsoft make the Pokรฉmon Mystery Dungeon series. Yeah. Well, they were they were they were the developed. They have a function in it. Hold on. Let me.
00:09:35
Speaker
Let me clarify. Take the podcast completely into left field. They. The mystery dungeon, they were developed by Chunsoft, which were which are now Spike Chunsoft. Yeah. But they're baby days. Yes, they were. But they were the developers for them. Got you. They developed them while Nintendo or whoever or Square Enix or whoever published them.
00:10:04
Speaker
Yeah. OK. Gotcha. They actually. Oh, they released a new one this year, actually. A new mystery dungeon. Well, not Pokemon mystery dungeon, but just like in that genre. OK. You're in the Wanderer, the mystery dungeon of Serpent Coil Island, which came out in January. Interesting. Oh, in February. Sorry. February 27th of this year. It's still pretty new.
00:10:30
Speaker
Very new. Very new. Huh. Did not know that. Yeah. But but yeah, yeah, it's like it's like if there's two things that people don't expect us for, the DJs know it for Danganronpa, AI, the Somnium files and we'll get into AI, the Somnium files later. Don't you worry. And the the other one that's a Switch exclusive, I think it's stupid that it's just a Switch exclusive. It should be put on everything. Oh, rain code.
00:10:57
Speaker
Rain code. Yeah, because I want to play that. I want to show you good things. I've heard good things. I just want to play it on like. Not the switch. No offense. I console exclusive games are very annoying. Like I make an exception for Nintendo because Nintendo is literally developed for their console. Yeah.
00:11:18
Speaker
And that's like, I understand that. I understand, in PlayStation, I kind of understand as well. Yeah, if you're publishing a game, you want people to play it on your console. Xbox is thankfully the, like, if they do an exclusive thing, it's like, well, yeah, but Xbox always puts their stuff on PC too. So it's like, I never have to worry. It's just more of you might have to wait a little longer.
00:11:38
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. So it's like I'm I'm I'm set when it comes to like exclusives and shit. I can play anything whenever I want, except for that one. Yeah, I've never been a big like PlayStation person, so I'm not really like missing out on a lot. I got my switch. I got steam. I'm happy.
00:11:58
Speaker
Yes. All right. Well, before we tangent this any further with Spike Chunsoft and stuff, let's get into our headline of the week, which was the Nintendo Indie World Showcase for...

Video Game News Updates

00:12:11
Speaker
What was it? The 14th, I think it was? No, the 15th? It was earlier this week of recording. We got another Indie World Showcase where people were like, is this where we're going to see Silksong? No.
00:12:28
Speaker
I'm gonna tell you right now. There was no silk song We're still waiting on a release date for that even though the steam page exists Nintendo showed it off in the previous Indie world showcase slash Nintendo direct with just like a blip of it But no like other news other than that So it still possibly could be this year folks Don't give up the hope yum. Keep smoking the copium. Oh
00:13:00
Speaker
As for what we showed off in the indie world showcase we had little kitty big city which comes out May 9th, which I would say is Stray lights
00:13:13
Speaker
And colorful, colorful, colorful. If you like cats, this is the game for you. You get to be a cat. There's a dedicated there's a dedicated button for doing the big stretch and other and other things, too. And you can go trip people and fish and other things in a big city.
00:13:36
Speaker
You got Yars Rising, a Metroidvania type game. Don't really state as of yet. Refined Self, the personality test game, which once if you do those test tests to find out what your personality type is, they basically made that into like this little adventure video game where all your choices determine what personality type you'll get at the end of the game.
00:14:02
Speaker
That's basically what this is, from my understanding of the trailer. And it looks cool for people who really like that stuff and want to, you know, put in perspective how all the other personality types would do this. That's the game for you. Sticky Business, which is out now. Anton Blast, which comes out November 12th, has a demo out now. Valley Peaks, which I believe this is a first-person frog game.
00:14:32
Speaker
Which is, it's weird, like watching the trailer, I'm like, oh, oh, I cannot play this because I am getting motion sick watching this. Oh, no.
00:14:45
Speaker
Yeah, it's definitely not a game for me. No offense to the developers. Europa had a trailer. Laura Lay and the Laser Eyes, which comes out May 16th. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Splinter Fate. This isn't a new game per se, as this was actually an Apple Arcade exclusive for a long, long time. And now, because Apple Arcade games are always doomed to fail if they're exclusive on Apple Arcade, it's coming to everything else, not just the Switch.
00:15:15
Speaker
I'm really hoping Hello Kitty Island Adventure will get the same treatment because I want to play it so bad, but it's on Apple Arcade and I'm like, I'm not paying another subscription. Yeah, the game that was a joke in South Park now with a full release. It's real. It's real.
00:15:33
Speaker
Cat Quest 3 comes out August 8th. I didn't even know there was a Cat Quest 2. I've only known about the original Cat Quest because that was free on Epic some time ago. Stitch, which is a little puzzle game where you're sewing. Oh, I think I did see the trailer for that. It's not sewing. It's a different word. I can't remember what it is though, but it's something with fabric.
00:16:00
Speaker
I can't. Big styles. Baby, I don't remember.
00:16:06
Speaker
The show ended with SteamWorld Heist 2, which comes out in August. But we also did get some release dates for a game that we've known about for a long time. We just didn't have a release date. Shim, which comes out July 18th. This is a game where you play as a shadow jumping from shadow to shadow to progress through the world and to reach the end destination. And a game that just sounds hilarious. Duck Detective, The Secret Salami, which comes out May 23rd.
00:16:37
Speaker
Because I want to know what's in that salami as a duck. Right. Absolutely. And that was basically the Nintendo Indie World Showcase in a nutshell. Go check out the trailers if any of those games interest you, because that is basically that's how that's how these indie games are. The Indie World Showcase is definitely don't get as much love as like other Nintendo directs do. Yeah, I'm happy that they exist, though. I think they're important.
00:17:03
Speaker
They absolutely are. And for everything else that happened this week, it's time for us to dive into the week. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the game lounge crew, it's the week in review.
00:17:21
Speaker
And starting off, some of the games that came out last in the last two weeks, you had Botany Manor, Final Fantasy 16 DLC, The Rising Tide, which is out now. I haven't played it yet, though, because I had to I was out all day yesterday, yesterday being the 18th. Otherwise, I would have played it yesterday and probably had it done because I would have no life did. Yep.
00:17:46
Speaker
Scare Ritual, Harold Halibut, Grounded came out for the PlayStation 4, 5, and Switch, and Goons, Legend, and Mayhem also released. So those are some of the games that came out this past two weeks. As for the world of video game news, the other biggest thing that happened with Nintendo, the Wii U and 3DS online services are officially gone. Rest in peace.
00:18:14
Speaker
Rest in peace, rest in pepperoni, whatever you want to rest them in. People were, I know the Pokรฉmon community was out and about playing like XY, Orys, Sun and Moon doing Wonder Trades and everything that they could, making like a whole day out of it, which was really, really cool to see.
00:18:37
Speaker
As for like what people were doing on the Wii U, I don't know. Maybe playing this. I don't know if I don't play the like the 10 people that own a Wii U. Yeah. Stop the laws being one of them.
00:18:50
Speaker
Yeah, I don't really know what the Wii U had aside from the original Mario Kart 8, but you might as well just play the less. I don't know what online games it had that were really important. Oh, I guess Splatoon. The original Splatoon. Yeah, the original Splatoon. The only game I know that was exclusive to the Wii U that didn't make it over when the Switch happened was the Xenoblade Chronicles games, which apparently those are amazing.
00:19:16
Speaker
I mean, yeah, Xenoblade X, that was the only one that didn't make it over. Yeah, it's still one of the few games like people like of the all the exclusive games that the Wii U has that the switch doesn't have. The list has shrunk down very much considerably when I think the only three I can think of being Xenoblade X Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD. I'm still so sad Twilight Princess HD hasn't made it over.
00:19:44
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. It's very, it's so weird that I haven't like just brought those two over. Like there was a Zelda anniversary that I could have done that. Like it's, it's just like, why, why not? It's, we have Ocarina of time and Majora's mask on there already. Like just add it on. Exactly.
00:20:03
Speaker
In Hades news, yes, we have news on Hades. Hades 2, you can sign up for the technical test. I don't know if you can still sign up now as you're listening to this, but people are playing the game in a very early build and there is a universal consensus that the gods are even hotter than they were in the first one. Let's go.
00:20:27
Speaker
So people are very excited of that. They're posting stuff on Twitter for the new gods, some of the old gods that got some artwork updates and whatnot. And yeah, they're hot. We love to see it. We love to see it. We love I love when the fan art just completely takes over my Twitter bisexuals rise up.
00:20:54
Speaker
because they're the ones who are going to enjoy this the most. Oh, absolutely. In EA News, EA has added Motive Studio, who were the developers of Star Wars Squadrons and the Dead Space remake, to the developer roster for the next Battlefield game.
00:21:11
Speaker
Which means oh, they're working on a new battlefield game. Good to know Because that's that's that's what I got out of this. I don't play the battlefield games, but I At least it'll be good cuz I mean squadrons was a good game It's just you know, it was like really you bought it you played the story and that was really about it unless you really really really like Flight sims and that kind of stuff Otherwise, it's just a one-and-done game type thing. Yeah
00:21:42
Speaker
X Bungie head Harold Ryan's probably monsters, which is the big studio parent company They revealed that they made a new internal game group called hidden growth I don't know if they're working on something They probably are because usually whenever they make these announcements, they're like, oh, yeah, they're working on something at the moment Stay tuned for that whenever it is that they actually reveal it so good to see that there's something new in the works from that and
00:22:11
Speaker
Don't know what it is.
00:22:13
Speaker
But yeah, it's a mystery. Back to Star Wars, though. Star Wars Outlaws dropped a brand new story trailer and announced that pre-orders are available now for release dates later this year, I think.

Memorable Story-Driven Games

00:22:29
Speaker
And if you get the $100 version or $130 version of the game, like always, there's locked content behind those versions where you can do a mission exclusively from Jabba the Hutt.
00:22:44
Speaker
And it's just like, really? Why are we doing this still? Like, why are we like, look, I'm fine with if you lock content behind.
00:22:58
Speaker
one of those versions, if that content is just like up like free upgrades or other shit because it's like, OK, it doesn't matter when you start putting like actual game quests behind that stuff. Yeah, that's that's not good. Yeah. Like I understand the hundred thirty dollar versions being that because it comes usually comes with the soundtrack and the digital art book, which if you're into those, it's really cool and it makes sense to get that version because some people are into that. I'm not. I'm not.
00:23:28
Speaker
Which is why, like, nine times out of ten, I'll usually get the middle version, that if it's just the DLC stuff, it's like, fine, I'll chuck a few extra money at it, because I do want to play this thing, but it's still stupid. Uh, in games I wasn't expecting to get an update like this, League of Legends is gonna get a bullet-haven mode during the summer event this year. And by that, I mean, if you know the game Vampire Survivors, League of Legends is doing something like that.
00:23:59
Speaker
So, cool. Top-down, shoot everything around you. Don't die. Get good, Scrub. Cool. Thanks, League of Legends. In TV news, the Fallout TV show debuted and came out to raving reviews from everybody. They did really, really good. Because of the successful watch for it, there was a spike in players for Fallout 76.
00:24:28
Speaker
I was gonna say, I've seen some TikToks on my page shop of like, the Fallout TV show has made my girlfriend want to play Fallout. What? Of just some boyfriends being really surprised because they've wanted to get their girlfriends to play it and they didn't want to until they saw the show and now they're like, okay, let's play it. Which is really awesome. Oh yeah. I like Fallout. I need to play it. I haven't played it.
00:24:58
Speaker
I would recommend starting with... I would say start with four. Because at least it's the most modern. And like of like the ones that people should play of like three New Vegas and four. It's the worst of the three. So it only gets better. Okay, it starts your expectations real low.
00:25:21
Speaker
Well, I mean, like it's still good, but like, yeah, like there are some things that Fallout 4 was like, and I think it has some cool things, but like Fallout 3, people, people say that Fallout 3 and New Vegas are like much better games. Oh, yeah. No, I've had New Vegas recommended to me like.
00:25:37
Speaker
a bajillion times at this point. Yeah, I would just say if you want to ease yourself getting into the series, Fallout 4 is a good beginner place to get into the series. And also it's getting put on new new systems very soon as well. That is good.
00:25:54
Speaker
Another thing about follows in the fall London mod has been delayed because Fallout 4 is releasing itself on Xbox Series X and PS5 And the mod they they need to do some work on the mod so it can actually support those versions of the game as well So it's the body has been indefinitely delayed I believe
00:26:13
Speaker
until it can adjust to those. So sad to see after all the stuff they did, they even got Neil Newborn a part of that mod as he'll be voicing. I don't know who in the mod, but he lent his voice to it.
00:26:29
Speaker
In a story I wasn't expecting to see involving Borderlands, the Borderlands science project that McGill University worked in tandem with the game to add has been shown as a success as, quote, these players have helped trace the evolutionary relationships of more than a million different kinds of bacteria that live in the human gut, end quote.
00:26:53
Speaker
For those who do not know, in Borderlands 3 on the spaceship, there is a mini game, I think it was just called Borderlands Science or something like that. I can't fully remember because it's been a long time since I played Borderlands 3. Yeah, basically every time you played this game, it added like actual like research towards bacteria and shit like that.
00:27:15
Speaker
I don't know how, but yeah, it's apparently been a success. So good job, gamers. Nice work. In Battle Royale game news that I wasn't expecting to see, a new Pac-Man Battle Royale called Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle Chomp Champs will be releasing May 9th.
00:27:35
Speaker
That's such a mouthful of a name. It is. It absolutely is. And this is basically a bunch of different pack mazes right next to each other. And you can go left to right up and down all these different mazes to be the last pack standing. It reminds me of those. I don't know if you ever see like the multiplayer Pac-Man in the arc in arcades, if you go to arcades, but there's like four players.
00:28:00
Speaker
And it's it's one map and it's just kind of you try to eat each other I feel like it's gonna be that but I'm like a much bigger scale. Yes, I believe it's I believe it's up to 32 to 36 But it's a lot it's a lot of people yeah, well not as many as like Tetris 99, but like it's a no but it's still a lot yeah
00:28:23
Speaker
In movie adaptation news, Dredge is getting a movie adaptation being worked on by Story Kitchen, who are also working on a Slime Rancher movie and a Vampire Survivors movie. I love Slime Rancher. I never played it. I want to play it, but I just haven't gone around. I played the first one. I didn't finish it because my computer decided that it was too much to handle while streaming. But it was a lot of fun and it was super cute. It was a good time.
00:28:49
Speaker
And lastly, in news that nobody expected to see a man, a myth, a legend by the name of Keanu Reeves, actor and voice actor of Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, and many other roles, of course. It looks like he's going to be the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog.
00:29:15
Speaker
I'm so excited. Oh my gosh. I was fully on board with the Hayden Christensen playing Shadow Theory that that was going to happen. And then my mind just kind of froze when I saw Keanu Reeves. I was like, there's no way. There's no way. I do want to clarify that it hasn't been officially confirmed by anybody that he's actually voicing Shadow. It's just that he has signed on to the Sonic 3 project.
00:29:45
Speaker
And that's all we know. But knowing how Idris Elba became the voice of Knuckles, this is a very good chance that Keanu Reeves is Shadow the Hedgehog. Yeah, no, it's I don't know what other role he would take unless they decide that he's going to voice Amy for some reason. Do we know if Amy's going to even be in this film? I'm not sure, but from the looks of like the movie,
00:30:15
Speaker
Based on the setup that was in the Sonic 2 post-credits scene, and given the reports that it's going to be absolutely tropical of Easter eggs, it is looking like this is going to be Sonic Adventure 2, the movie. That means they also need Rouge. That is true. They do need Rouge.
00:30:37
Speaker
But we did get a casting for Maria earlier this year, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, they casted Maria and everyone. If you saw the memes, it's like regular people watching the scene with Maria, Sonic fans watching the scene with Maria. They're just like, yeah! Yeah, let's go! Shadows can't admit, let's go! Oh my gosh.
00:31:01
Speaker
It's just like oh boy that that really is what the theater is gonna be like absolutely I'm still gonna cry I'm still I'm still gonna cry. It's still gonna be so sad But I am so here for it, and I'm so excited. Oh my gosh It's Sonic Adventure 2 is the only Sonic game of actually played I should say
00:31:21
Speaker
Yes, because that's how we met with Sonic Adventure. Oh, that's right. Yeah. I found you playing Sonic Adventure 2, and I'm like, oh, a VTuber playing Sonic Adventure 2, I should go watch this. A lot of my viewers were like, you should play Sonic Adventure 2. Like, if you're going to play any Sonic game, play Sonic Adventure 2, trust us. And I was like, hmm, OK. And it was very, very jank.
00:31:49
Speaker
but it was also very, very fun. And I had a very good time and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to play, who wants to play a Sonic game, who wasn't really sure which one they should start with. It's like, you know what? Go find out the origins of Shadow the Hedgehog and just have a fun time. Now you should go play Sonic Adventure 1 and watch Chao get massacred.
00:32:10
Speaker
That's what I've been told, yes. The only thing that's stopping me is I've seen the way that the mouths move when they talk and it's very jarring.
00:32:20
Speaker
Tails, we gotta stop the egg man. I'm definitely gonna play it at some point, for sure. This is the sky deck. It's not in my official order yet, but it is on my list of things I need to add to the order of things that I'm playing.
00:32:43
Speaker
God, it's on the list to add things to the list to play on the list. It's on the list, but it's not in the queue, if that makes sense. Yes. If that makes sense. Yes, it does. I only put two things in the queue at a time of what I'm playing next and what I'm probably going to play after. And anything after that is too far in the future for me to be able to figure out. So I just have a list.
00:33:06

Moving on to live service game news, starting off with Final Fantasy XIV. Oh boy, do we got a lot to talk about about Final Fantasy XIV. First off, Dawn Trail, that releases July 2nd, that's the new expansion. June 28th is when you get early access to it if you pre-ordered the game. The benchmark also just released for it. And an update to the benchmark, Yoshi P updated the benchmark.
00:33:31
Speaker
They took it down and replayed it up because of something. I don't exactly know why, like it literally just happened. I did not have enough time to read why, but that happened too. But the benchmark now allows you to make sure your PC can run the game on highest settings or if you'll need to make adjustments and all that stuff. And it also lets you play around with the character customization for the female Hrothgar.
00:33:55
Speaker
As for events coming up, they released a whole calendar of everything that we will be expecting to see until...
00:34:06
Speaker
Dodge Hill releases Starting off with the Yo-kai watch event that is coming back April 24th all the way to June 25th Yo-kai watch is back Basically the event works where you'll be doing your a realm reborn Heaven's ward and storm blood fates
00:34:27
Speaker
Yes, I know, a realm reborn fates. You do them, you get coins, you trade the coins in for a minion, you equip the minion, you go back out and do face instead area to get another coin for a weapon, and you collect the weapons. Collect all the minions, collect all the weapons, you'll get three mounts. And there's also a framer's kit to get as well.
00:34:50
Speaker
The Mughal Tombstones of Genesis returns on May 14th and runs until the 24th. We don't know the exact rewards that you'll be getting through this batch, but that's going to be the next one, so it's going to be a great way to get farm MGP, that's for sure, because I'll be doing that to try to get the giant cactuar mount and the blackjack as well.
00:35:18
Speaker
The Make It Rain campaign starts from May 15th to 31st. This is basically just the time to get double MGP in Final Fantasy XIV, or it's 50% more MGP. There's a little quest attached to it. And basically, just go to Chocobo races. You'll get a lot of MGP just doing that, and you'll level up your Chocobos.
00:35:39
Speaker
And lastly, from June 5th to 20th, the Dragon Quest X event returns, where I think the gist of it is you accept quest, you do three fates, you get a slime crown and a minion, and you're done.
00:35:58
Speaker
And those are everything that's happening between now and the release of Dawn Trail, which is a lot. These are the only events like the Yokai and the Dragon Quest are actually two of the massive events that I missed out on when I started the game that are now back.
00:36:17
Speaker
which is going to be awesome to experience for the first time. Also, there was a live letter from the producer that happened. It was a part of a 14 hour live stream that Final Fantasy 14 did. And during that time as well, they showcased more of the tabletop RPG that Final Fantasy 14 is receiving, although the entire thing was in Japanese. I believe that there's some English articles about more about that side of the live stream.

Imagine the Gathering, Outlaws of Thunder Junction is out right now, Modern Horizons 3 drops on June 14th, Universes Beyond, Assassin's Creed drops to July 5th, and Bloomborough August 2nd, and in Lorkana news, Ursula's Return releases on May 31st. And that's everything that happened in these past two weeks. Eliana, do you have any other comments to make on any of those?
00:42:07
Speaker
Not on any of those, but I do also want to say Pokemon go updated their avatars and. Oh, yeah. I saw that. I saw a brief thing about that. They made. They they they like they it's like they at one comparison I saw is like they really hate waste the waste lines. A little bit. Yeah, it's so I play it because my aunt plays it and I'm like, wow, my aunt wants to get into Pokemon Pokemon go. All right, let's do this.
00:42:36
Speaker
And I see what they were going for in terms of more customization. Like I really see what they wanted to do. Like they're incorporating like different face shapes, different body types. And I think that's great. I, they, they hate wastes. They hate wastes now. Your cute waistline is gone. Not even an option. And I'm just like, come on. It's, I see what they were going for, but I think they needed, they needed to let it cook a little longer. It's a let it cook.
00:43:05
Speaker
They didn't let it cook a little longer because I'm like this. Let's say that I like the idea. I like what you want to do in terms of like, you know, everyone likes more character customization. Yeah. You know, for it. Exactly. But.
00:43:21
Speaker
But if you like character customize if you're a lot if you like character my customization the less customize our waste then poke about exactly Let me get up. Let me get the biggest booty you've got so I can see this Abomination let me see this abomination. I'm not talking like I'm just gonna make it thick. No, I'm talking like Ridiculously like Saints Row like they've been waste and like at the waistline. It just goes whoa
00:43:51
Speaker
Like, I'm talking that much customization, Pokemon Go. Give me that. That was so funny. Oh my gosh. Give me unrealistic proportions that you would only see in cartoons. That's why we watch cartoons. We want to look cool. Exactly. You think I watch cartoons for the plot? You're wrong. Oh, goodness.
00:44:15
Speaker
Well, with that, it's time for us to now look ahead to see all the games that are coming out and what should be on your radar from April 22nd to May the 3rd. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar. And, as always, whenever I start this section, it's time for the guest to take a bet on can I do this in one breath.
00:44:42
Speaker
You know what? I believe in you. I believe in you. Yes, you can. All right. Thanks, Eliana.
00:44:49
Speaker
Starting off, there's no releases on the 22nd, but on the 23rd, Ioden Conical 100 Heroes releases for the PlayStation 5, Series X, Xbox One, and PC. Lunar Lander comes up... Lunar Lander Beyond comes out on everything. Phantom Fury comes to the PC. Tales of Kinzera Zhao comes to the PS5, Series X, Switch, and PC. Fallout 4 releases on the PS5 and Series X.
00:45:17
Speaker

On the 30th, Braid Anniversary Edition comes out on everything. Front Mission 2 Remake releases on everything else, because it's already out on the Switch. Sea of Thieves comes to the PS5, The Curse of Grimsie Island comes to the PC. The Lullaby of Life also comes to the PC.
00:46:04
Speaker
Nothing on the first or the third, but on the second, Endless Ocean Luminous comes to the Switch, MotoGP24 comes out on everything, and Surmount comes to the Switch and PC. Well done. Not that bad. Summer is going to be hell, though. When the summer gets here, it's going to be absolute hell. Yeah, no, I think if you're able to do that in one breath, then you might not be human.
00:46:33
Speaker
Yeah, uh, as for the as for now that i've listed off everything the ones that you should be keeping an eye out for I did chronicle if you're a fan of the I you did chronicle games obviously Game this game is for you, uh tales of kizara zal this game looks cool And the guy who showed it off at the game awards was really passionate about this But I think you should go check it out if you have ps plus Uh, this is in the catalog of free games. I believe so you should go grab it and check it out
00:47:05
Speaker
Another crab's treasure. This is Dark Souls, but you're a crab. What more do I need to say?
00:47:12
Speaker
Fallout 4, it's finally hitting the next-gen systems. If you want to dump money into that, go ahead. That's your choice at this point. Saga Emerald Beyond. I've heard good things about the Saga games, so go check that out if you like that. I wasn't expecting another Demon Slayer game with Demon Slayer Sweep the Board. As for what this game is,
00:47:41
Speaker
I believe it's like a board game. That's also a it's like it's like, uh, yeah, it's a, it's, it's, it's a board. It's a, it's like Mario party. No, this is, oh, it's like, uh, oh no. Oh, it is. There's many games and everything. Well, there you go.
00:48:09
Speaker
So if you're one of those crazy Demon Slayer fans who think it's the best anime of all time, because it's not, there's a game for you. Sandland, this is, of course, based off the work of Akira Toriyama, made his soul rest in peace. That game comes out in 2006 as well. You should go check that out. Stellar Blade for PlayStation 5.
00:48:36
Speaker
I mean, if you if you haven't seen this game yet, go Google this game, because if you like women, that's all I got to say. That's it. That's the entire argument. That's that's it. That's it. If you like women, then you'll probably. And also the combat is actually looks pretty good, too. But there's that percentage that just that's going to play this for other reasons. Hmm.
00:49:01
Speaker
See if fees for PlayStation 5 that's a big that's a big deal finally happening and endless ocean luminous for the switch we saw this at the Last Nintendo direct I believe because this is the sequel to the Wii game endless ocean And if you have what's it called the lassa phobia? Don't play this game
00:49:28
Speaker
I think it's the last of phobia, the fear of open water or not knowing where the bottom of the water is. Don't play this game if you have that. But if you're fine with that, go check it out because you can look at all the ocean wildlife and sometimes a dinosaur. We love which we love to see. But those are those are the video games. Any final comments on any of those games?
00:49:55
Speaker
Um, no, I don't think so. I'm always surprised when I see another anime video game because I just don't keep up with them. So I'm just like, oh, there's another Demon Slayer one now. Interesting. Yep. From getting a fighting game to now a board game video game. Yeah.
00:50:13
Speaker
That's exactly what we wanted in this Demon Slayer franchise, SEGA. That's exactly what we wanted. How did you know? How did SEGA know? You know us so well. You know us so well. Where's Sonic? Give me more Sonic, SEGA. Don't give me this anime weeb bullshit. Give me Sonic and I would like my Sonic without Jank, please. Give me my Jet Set Radio HD remake, please.
00:50:39
Speaker
Which they are working on. That's actually in the works. So like, I can't be too mad. That's fair. I would love to see a Sonic Adventure 2 remake, but the problem is, if they do that... They have to do a Sonic Adventure 1. You know that the You Faker isn't going to be as good as it was in the original? Yeah, they'll actually make it sound proper. They'll make it proper? And it's like, I don't want that to be proper, though. It's so funny.
00:51:02
Speaker
Well, with that, it's time for us to now move on ahead to our main focus this week. Here's what we're discussing this week in the Game Lounge. Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. And today, we're talking what makes games memorable.
00:51:30
Speaker
So, Eliana, I'll have you take the floor first. What makes games memorable for you? Honestly, I think there's probably three things that can really make a game memorable for me. Number one would be, obviously, if it's a story-based game, having a good story. And for that, I think of A.I. Disomni files, Undertale, Danganronpa.
00:51:57
Speaker
things like that. Something else that can make a game memorable, I would say, is how well it plays. Like, if it's a really good experience that isn't story-based, it's, there are games that are like, well, we'll get into them, but I'll say one of them right now that has like, basically no story. Mario Party DS is a game I think about regularly. I know you're laughing, but honestly,
00:52:25
Speaker
That was such a well done game that utilized every single component of the DS. It did. Absolutely. I played it. It's one of my favorite Mario Party games. I still have it. I still play it with my sister sometimes because it's just a good time. And then the other thing I'm going to say is is soundtrack. It's like obviously soundtracks can't carry a video game.
00:52:49
Speaker
But oh, my gosh, do they help? I don't know a single person who doesn't know Gusty Garden Galaxy for Mario Galaxy. Oh, true. True. That's those are kind of those are the three main things I would say, like really makes a game memorable. OK. OK. So let's let's let's break this. Let's break this down piece by piece. Then let's start with story driven games that are memorable to us both. Yeah.
00:53:17
Speaker
I'll let you take the floor with this and start this off and we'll go really go from there Both love AI the saw me in five. Yeah. No, holy hell. The AI games are fan I'm playing Nirvana edition now I'm not too deep into it yet, but I played it as on your files for the first time earlier this year and I Have not had a story game captivate me that deeply since like
00:53:47
Speaker
Undertale. I was on the edge of my seat for that entire game. Oh my gosh. That was such a treat to play through in terms of finding all the different pieces to every character given the different routes. I really love that in that game. Despite it having one true ending, people can have a very different experience with it depending on
00:54:16
Speaker
how you deal with the Somniums and which roots you go down first. I really want to watch someone else play it for the first time now because I want to see what roots they go down first because I think for me, I went down the Mizuki route first.
00:54:31
Speaker
OK, same, because I also went down the mazooki route. Yeah, it's I almost I almost went down like the bad ending route first, but that I accidentally hit the wrong button and it was oh, I guess I hit the TV instead of turn to the knob. So I guess I'm doing that and then it's up. All right, mazooki route.
00:54:48
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. No, like. God, like, fuck, that game is really cool. I have like I was going through my Twitch clips not that long ago, because I'm like, I need to figure out which of these I need to purge and whatnot, because like I should do that. There is, you know, like a lot of things on Twitch now and it's a it's a current meta is like like when people shout you out after a raid or whatnot or just when there's a shot. Oh, and then the clip shows up and the clip shows up so old.
00:55:16
Speaker
It's so old. I'm like, I need to go through these to figure out which ones are good enough to keep now. Because there are some old clips of mine that I'm like, you know what, if that pops up, it's still funny. I'm fine with that. It's I still have clips from my very first stream on there because I just I'm too nostalgic. I can't part with them.
00:55:36
Speaker
I can't. I'm like, that's that's like history now. That's part of my history. I looked at some of them like my first clip is me playing Fallout 4 because that was like the first game I ever streamed. Yeah. Under Tony's Game Lounge. I used to stream before under the gaming ace. It was not good. I think my old brand, the gaming ace, it was bad. I hate it. I hate myself. I cringe at myself. I got rid of every piece of evidence of it.
00:56:04
Speaker
Basic I believe they're not I played follow for on that one, too Okay, but it's but it's also if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't have hit affiliate when I did which was really quick because I had already gained followers because I have which channel and all that other stuff
00:56:21
Speaker
But I think I'm looking at it. And like my first clip of that fall for is just me fighting an automatron and missing shots. That's all it was. I don't even say anything funny. I just miss the shots. And I'm like, OK, I really don't need this. And I just delete it. I think that's the oldest clip I have now is me playing Firewatch.
00:56:44
Speaker
And I grab the cardboard cutout of Forest Burns, and I do this voice. It's just like, hey, everybody, eat your baby forest birds. And I just I just it's just you slowly see me just going off the deep end, just losing my mind with it. I'm like, OK, that's funny. That's funny. I can keep that.
00:57:06
Speaker
I think my oldest clips are of me playing Stardew Valley, just kind of like fishing. I don't even remember why they're clipped. But the oldest clip that I have that I do know will stay if I purge everything, it's just, it's me playing Portal for the first time ever. And me figuring out like how to go from one place to another, where I have to like, you know, put a portal on the wall, but then also on the floor. And it's just me walking down the floor just going, whee! I don't know, it just makes me giggle so much.
00:57:36
Speaker
god but but yeah it was like i'm going through these and i get to some somnium file clips of mine yeah i had to like another thing i played the danganronpa games on stream i i had to like oh i probably shouldn't save any of these just because some of this stuff is spoilery and so like i deleted like all my all but one no all but two danganronpa clips
00:58:00
Speaker
Possibly three, but like I got rid of like a majority of my dating romper clips because it's like that's a spoiler That's a spoiler. That's a spoiler. That's a spoiler I'm like, I don't care. It was my old setup where I'm streaming directly from my PlayStation So it's like it good get rid of this bird hits Oh gosh
00:58:21
Speaker
But it's like I think like the two clips two of the clips I say one of them is me reacting to you saying that Shuichi and Kai day don't use a rubber and just do it raw I'm like, oh Yeah, that's that was staying and then the other one is me talking to maki and I think I go oh
00:58:45
Speaker
Does she have a crush on me? Does she want to crush me? Yes. That was basically my reaction. I don't mind. Either or, that's fine with me. Either or. I can't play those games on stream, like visual novel type games as much as I love them.
00:59:07
Speaker
They just, they don't do well on my channel. And I think it's just has to do with the fact that like, I, I can't do them alone at the very least. But when I get sucked into them, I neglect chat. So that's why I like games like Danganronpa and like ASomni files, I have to play off stream in my own time because just people don't stick around for those because I just, I forget, I forget chat exists because I get so sucked in. I have a good balance with them because I, uh,
00:59:34
Speaker
I think me starting with those games and not having many chatters to begin with. That's valid. And like I was able to like break it up because I just do voices for all the characters and whatnot and then people will chime in and it's like I can give myself a break of like doing voices, read things while reading chats essentially of like okay cool people are chatting I can interact with that while just reading the things and letting it progress and whatnot a bit.
01:00:01
Speaker
Yeah, cuz that's what I've been doing cuz like I'm on game five of eight for the Ace Attorney games Okay, like they're doing well. They're doing better than my Final Fantasy 14 streams because Even though I'm a Final Fantasy 14 streamer So that's a That's something but that's it that's an issue
01:00:30
Speaker
That's its own thing. Maybe, you know, they're joining you for those. Maybe they'll check out your Final Fantasy 14 streams. Well, it's also like we we've also just been like there were this invested in the Ace Attorney series at this point. That's just like we won't want more. Yeah, that's valid. That's super valid. Yeah. Yeah. But anyway, AI, the Sombium files. What a great fantastic. Oh, my God. It is honestly like the final twist of that game.
01:00:57
Speaker
is so good. Because the thing with it is they were able to give me enough, again, spoilers for AI, the Somnu files, but the game is now like 2019. So again, sorry, skip ahead, I guess, if you don't want spoilers. I knew like since the beginning that we absolutely
01:01:19
Speaker
had some sort of involvement with the murders. I was like, there's no way that we don't have some sort of involvement in terms of like, why, you know, boss won't let us like, you know, look into the past cases and, you know, some things seem to be kind of lining up, but like, I think it's possible someone could have figured out the whole body swap thing. I did not figure out that it was a body swap thing. I thought that we committed these murders and then somehow lost our memory.
01:01:46
Speaker
Yeah, all the shit with Monica was like totally out of left field. I did not see coming at all. Yeah. Yeah, I can't remember if I guessed it correctly or not. I think I think I was along the same lines of of yours of thinking like there has to be like the reason that you can only go in for six minutes.
01:02:13
Speaker
was because they did this before and something went horribly wrong yeah and i'm like oh it probably just fried his memory about the whole thing not yeah i was thinking something like that i did not think body swapping shout out to greg chun who voiced the protag for the entire game only to have to voice the villain at the end
01:02:36
Speaker
Hey, he did good. He didn't see him in D.C. Douglas, you know, being able to be both Dottay and what? Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Those voice performances. I don't think I'll ever forget those. Those were so well done in terms of you knew exactly who was in whose body. There was never a question who was in his. The person who played boss as well because of the the bad ending. Like, oh, my gosh.
01:03:05
Speaker
That was incredible. I still go back and I rewatch the endings sometimes just because they were so good. They were so well set up and they were so much fun. I loved it. I loved it. I'm very excited to progress further in Nirvana Initiative. How far in Nirvana Initiative are you at the moment?
01:03:27
Speaker
Um, gosh, the, the head of Nyes, first of all, Nyes is real. That's crazy. Um, but she's dead. She's, she's very dead. And, um, Ryuki's had two very interesting, uh, freak outs. Oh, his, his, yes. Yeah. We, we thought we saw the guy, but he got away.
01:03:53
Speaker
And then I'm somewhere around there. I haven't played it in a couple of weeks because I had to study for finals. But I'm somewhere around there. OK, so yeah, the square dad owes a lot of money to a lot of loans. OK, yeah, you're OK. Yeah, you're you're nearing the end of Ryuki's path. OK, gotcha.
01:04:14
Speaker
because because how compared to the first game they did the difference of instead of having like all the overarching options and whatnot of yeah it doesn't branch as much no it's just no it's really it's two main branches and at the end it branches once more for two endings for Ryuki
01:04:37
Speaker
And then two endings from Azuki, two endings from Azuki, because if you remember in the very first saw him drop when you go inside Ryuki's head.
01:04:49
Speaker
You have you have that chance to enter a code. You have to enter the name, but I don't know the name. Yeah, you don't know the name, which is how it's supposed to go. There's also like there's also another part earlier in it where it was like, are you a seam ripper? And I was like, I don't know. Oh, yeah. Where the what's her name? Ask you that you have the choice to fill something in there. Yeah. And I didn't I don't know what it was. I was like, yeah. So.
01:05:12
Speaker
Yeah, you'll find that one out at the very end of the game. I'll let you know that right now that that one you won't know until the very end. OK, that's the very, very end. That's like the path to like the ending. Sort of. OK, it's these games have so many layers.
01:05:31
Speaker
Yeah, no, it's sort of. I don't think you're going to guess what the twist of this one is. I'm going to say that right now. I'm assuming it's going to be something kind of meta, just the way that Knys has been playing with the whole we're in a simulation kind of thing. I'm like, OK, OK, Spike Chunsoft. I see you. It's actually it's not that meta is it's it's like the three meta. No, it's just it's actually like like this.
01:05:58
Speaker
The thing with the the second code with knives at the. Whereas like where you have to beat the game essentially and you enter whatever that code is there, that gets a bit better. I'll say that much that that that gets better. But that's the only thing that gets better, really. Gotcha. OK, I thought it was really like real meta. No, no, the main twist of the there's two main twists of the game.
01:06:27
Speaker
But the way you have to talk about it, but you don't want to spoil me. I don't want to spoil it because it's they're really cool. They're really, really, really, really, really. Also, I will say this when you get into. Oh, was it who had it? Yeah, when you get into Mizuki's stardium. Small spoiler for Leah, because all the new characters basically have one.
01:06:55
Speaker
Leon's Somnium has the best music in that game hands down. Okay, good to know. I will I will look forward to that soundtrack. Also shout outs to ProZD for voicing again. Oh yeah, no, I picked that up immediately. I was like, is that ProZD?
01:07:13
Speaker
It is. It absolutely is. Again, it's one of the best characters in the game. He's I like him. And then also shout out to Amelie for also being in that game. Wait, Amelie is in it? Yeah, she's the I can't remember her name, the brown hair girl. Oh, she. Oh, oh, that's Amelie. That's all. That's why she sings in it. Oh, right. Yeah, it is.
01:07:40
Speaker
What's her name? I know who you're talking about. I can't remember her name right now. Has tragic event happened? Can I talk about that? I don't know what tragic event is. I'm sorry. Her dad works in like... Her dad's very rich or something. I don't remember. Yeah. Has Leon confessed his love for her at all yet? Because that happens a lot.
01:08:06
Speaker
Yeah, they buried a time capsule. So I'm assuming that time is gonna come back in Mizuki's route Oh, oh, yeah. Okay. So tragic event hasn't happened yet, right? Okay. Good to know good to know good to know. Yeah Good to know When you reach tragic event, please message me your full reaction to that I'll send you messages in all caps being like what?
01:08:37
Speaker
I have very, very big reactions to things, but I think you already knew that. Yes. God, I'm excited for you reaching out to Nirvana. Like, in my opinion, Nirvana Initiative, and it might just be because of a recency thing, because it is of the two, the more recent one. Yeah. But Nirvana Initiative, to me, is more memorable than the first one. Really? OK. Because like the first one, the first one is memorable.
01:09:05
Speaker
The first one's very memorable, but I like the twist more in the second one because of how it makes you think of everything. And it's because of that more thinking that I'm like, yeah, no, this one stands out more to me. Interesting. Okay. That's a very different take than like my friend has with it. So.
01:09:25
Speaker
Like, don't get me wrong, the first game gave us the line of when you're in the entertainment company, which I can't remember the name of. Lemniscate. Lemniscate, which also, by the way, they made a child their CEO. They did like. I mean, she inherited it. So, you know, I mean, she did, but still.
01:09:45
Speaker
It's I'm assuming she has like a council of advisors Yeah, no most like most like most like like like every child prodigy that inherits something like meets through and persona three and everything else Or Kaiba in fucking Yu-Gi-Oh It probably is that I just remember like the first time you dare and you're trying to talk to
01:10:08
Speaker
Oda remembered his name. Good job. Uh, you can click on the receptionist and it just goes, there's a receptionist with big breasts sitting over there. There's a, if you click it again, there's a receptionist. Yeah. Oh yeah. No, but I remember in the first one more because it was the first time I saw that it just, it sticks around with me more. My favorite thing is that the atomic ending exists in both games and I have found it.
01:10:36
Speaker
Yes, let's go to a Tommy. I'm like, let's go. Let's go. Yeah, no, that's I think there's an achieve a trophy for that. I think so. The first and the first one, for sure. I can't remember if there was one of the second, but I also. Iris is Iris is saw me up in the first game. Oh, yeah. Also, I love that technically in the first A.I. the zombie files game via Tommy ending is the worst ending because I was no longer there.
01:11:05
Speaker
to give Date the medication so he can feel like serotonin, so he can have serotonin. Because that's the whole thing, is Saito's body doesn't produce it unless he murders. So in the ending, where Date goes to Atami with the receptionist, he does become a serial killer. Or he just gets really, really depressed. Because he can't feel happiness going to Atami with the receptionist.
01:11:35
Speaker
That's such a funny ending. It really is. Very, very memorable game. You know, they they put the ripoff Minecraft as a fucking strong forge. And oh, yeah, I mean, you haven't gone into the other irises second saw him or irises saw him in the new. I have not. It's I'll just tell you this. They based it off of another video game. Oh.
01:12:03
Speaker
And it might evolve having to visit, uh, Pokestops and. Oh my God. Yeah. No, Iris is second. It's Pokemon go rip off. I love that. That's so funny. There's a whole, there's a whole trophy list of getting like a fricking.
01:12:24
Speaker
There's a trophy involved in getting like a very secret, powerful, like character Pokemon in that one too. It's hilarious. It's great. I know that I know some people have mixed feelings on Iris. I love Iris. Oh my gosh. She stole my heart in the first game. Iris plays a better role in the first game than she does in the second. Well, she's not a main character anymore. Yeah, no, she's not. She's very much taking a backseat because her
01:12:50
Speaker
Her story's been told. Her story's been told, but it also feels like with the second game, they really don't do her with that first story. It's almost as if they don't make her as good anymore either. I've kind of felt that a little bit. I feel like something about her is kind of missing. Yeah.
01:13:10
Speaker
Like, I think the best part about her in the second game is for a brief second. She goes to visit Sosa Jima. And yes, yes. That's really about it. Yeah. Is brief. It's very brief, which is unfortunate because I did really like her.
01:13:34
Speaker
But that's the only thing where I'm like, oh, that's kind of cool for her to go do. Yeah, go see your dad. Which is the weird thing to say. It is weird to say. Also, I know why they did this, but I'm so disappointed that Date looks like Saito again. Yeah, because they wanted to make it so it doesn't spoil the first game.
01:14:00
Speaker
Like I like how they implemented it's like hey, did you play the first game? Yeah Yeah, I like how they did that But also I'm just like come on Bring back DC Douglas Greg Chen was great, but like I want to see I mean they could it's like if you did fill that in it's like Okay, you get this version of the game instead or it's like there's a lot more That'd be a lot more work for them
01:14:26
Speaker
It'd be a lot more work for them. It's like, oh, all right, guys. Hey, guys, the streamer man number five sixty nine. Let's play this. I saw me in files game. New chatters come in. Oh, cool. I already played the first one. I saw the trailers, though. This isn't like the trailers. Who's that? That's not great. Yeah. Yeah, unfortunately. Unfortunately.
01:14:48
Speaker
Yeah, but yeah, very memorable games. Very memorable, very memorable. I really don't know where to take the conversation from here. Well, like, you know, it's and Someday Files is very much memorable for its story because that's that's what the game is. The game is very much a voice to visual novel.
01:15:13
Speaker
with puzzles in it, which is, you know, you could throw Danganronpa in that category as well. But like, there are games that, while they technically have story, it's not like the only part of it. Like, I would, I'm just gonna use Tears of the Kingdom for this example. Like, there absolutely is story. And that story is so fun to unravel. But the story is not the only thing in that game. That game is fueled by creativity.
01:15:40
Speaker
Yeah, and exploration and everything else. Yeah, it's I would I would put like Chairs of the Kingdom in a similar category to where I would put Minecraft where like you will get as much out of it as you put it in terms of creativity. If you if you enjoy being very creative and making silly things, you will love Chairs of the Kingdom just like you will love Minecraft. Like they're they're very fun for those reasons.
01:16:08
Speaker
Like again, I love the story, I love the characters, I'm still in love with Sidon. Oh my gosh, my boy. Even though he's getting married? I'm very happy for him. And not to you? I'm very happy that he has found true love, you know? I'm cool with it. I don't hate Yona, I think she's lovely. I'm disappointed for me, but I'm happy for him, you know?
01:16:34
Speaker
That's the route I chose to take when I found out that Sidon was engaged. I was like, all right, bud, I get it. We are not a fish person. We are not a Zora.
01:16:46
Speaker
Yeah, but you want to be so you can marry him, don't you? That's true, yeah. I'm calling out so many people because of this. Sidon is a conventionally attractive fish, okay? Hold on, hold on, hold on. I'm sorry, what? He is a conventionally attractive fish. That's the sentence I never thought I would do in my life. It is very normal to think that Sidon is hot. Like, that's not a hot take.
01:17:15
Speaker
That's not a hot take to think that Sidon's hot. Ask literally anyone who's into men. Okay, fair enough. That's not a hot take. Everyone thinks he's hot. Let me call my boy, Melo. Let me ask if the fish is hot. Is the fish hot? Yo, Melo, is the fish hot?
01:17:38
Speaker
No other context. Oh gosh. Hold on. I'm actually going to, I'm actually going to send him that message. Oh my gosh. Please tell me how he responds. Cause that sounds amazing. Is the fish hot? I will, I will make sure to, I'm going to equip a gif of Sidon. Okay. That way he has at least a little bit to go off of. Yes. All right. I've sent it.
01:18:04
Speaker
Excellent. I am awaiting a response. Oh, I want to know. OK. Continue. But yeah, there are. It's I've seen I've seen games from franchises do well and then games from the same franchise tank, you know, and like I'm going to use my example of Mario Party. Mario Party DS easily could have been a throwaway game like
01:18:33
Speaker
It could have easily been a throwing game that had no memorability. Like technically there's a story mode to it, but that story mode is literally just playing on all the boards. But there's also boss fights, which first of all, boss fights in Mario party. We need more of those. Those were awesome. I love those. I think the only other game that really gave you that was the, was Mario party nine.
01:18:56
Speaker
and Mario Party 10? I hate Mario Party 9 and 10.

Mario Party Series Discussion

01:19:01
Speaker
I hate those games. I mean, I don't like them either. I don't think a lot of people do. They destroyed what makes Mario Party... Why do you travel together now?
01:19:10
Speaker
And you collect mini stars. Like that's I understand wanting to shake up the formula, but that's that's not Mario Party anymore. It didn't work. Like the one part, the one part of Mario Party 10 that worked was the Bowser mode where Bowser's chasing the group. That part kind of worked, but it was also very unbalanced and Bowser always caught up and Bowser always wins. Yeah, no, it just it didn't work well. I think that like I'll always say that like Mario Party peaked from like
01:19:40
Speaker
in its GameCube days from four to seven. Yeah, four to seven were great, and then eight was good. I liked eight. Eight has one of my favorite boards. Koopa's Tycoon Town was such a fun shake up of the formula, needing to invest your coins into hotels. And the more you put in, the more stars you'll get out of it. Yeah, it was a more advanced version of the Windmill map on seven. I think so, yeah.
01:20:08
Speaker
It was, I thought that was, that was a great map. Like, you know, you had standard maps on there as well, like the DK jungle. And I liked that they put the extra Bowser map on there in terms of like,
01:20:19
Speaker
You each have a limited number of stars. Whoever can steal more stars from the other wins. Like, I thought that was a very fun shake up of the formula. I mean, it's a good shake up, but also it like I feel with six, seven and eight, they all share a lot of similarities. There is with six being the one that introduced the you get a limited number of stars to start and you can call change jobs to rob others. That's true.
01:20:46
Speaker
Oh God, what were sixes other maps? No, that was about it. Like that was like the one like unique one. Everything else is about the same with us. But aside from fair square was which was like there is a central star that you can buy X amount depending on day or night. Yeah. And then everything else was about the same seven that introduced. There's like you have your standard board with Koopa. No, not Koopa with blooper bloopers. Yeah. Italian map.
01:21:14
Speaker
You had Pagoda Peak, which was the there's one path gets the star. Yeah, you had. New York City. Neon Heights, that's what it was called. You had the windmill place and you had another one that I'm not remembering. It's I haven't touched the. And then you had Bowser's map as well. Yeah.
01:21:42
Speaker
One of the things I really love about like Mario Party DS is that almost every single board plays the game differently. Like you got like the Piranha Plant Garden, which is the standard Mario Party map. You have Toadette's Music Room, where the star changes how much it costs based on how many times the star has been moved or has been bought.
01:22:09
Speaker
so it'll start at five coins and eventually it'll be like 30 coins. You got DK Stone statue where the star stays in the same spot but you are allowed to buy as many as you can afford so you don't want to get there too quickly so you can rack up enough money. Kamek's library where instead of a star there are three jars only one of them containing the star and then
01:22:33
Speaker
the the bowser one which is like a giant pinball machine which is really cool and there's a chance that you'll end up in like the bowser zone and if you don't roll higher than like a seven you'll lose all your stars and coins but there's also like a 10 chance that you'll end up in the star zone instead and you'll get anywhere from one to three stars for free it was really cool i was i was a big fan of that map
01:22:58
Speaker
I think about Mario Party DS is like I played it a lot as a kid, but I don't remember much about the boards. I remember the mini games because the mini games were, as you put it earlier, they were very innovative with the games with how they were. Oh, yeah. They made sure that you used every single aspect of the DS.
01:23:24
Speaker
Yeah, the touch screen, the microphone and the few buttons, the button ones. I remember there's one where you you fall off of a chalkboard and you have to get as close to the red line as possible without, you know, falling off. I can't beat my record because my record is zero point zero zero zero inches. Wow. It's I don't know how I did it as a child, but I was like, oh, my God. What?
01:23:54
Speaker
I think I got close as a kid. I like I don't think I ever got it like directly. I did it perfectly by accident, completely by accident. I think I was just playing for funsies and just boom. I was just like, OK, yeah, all right. I have beaten that game. Cross that off the list. Don't ever have to touch that again. So like I can get any better. Yeah, no, definitely. Yeah, definitely.

Stardew Valley and Super Mario Sunshine

01:24:23
Speaker
Yeah.
01:24:24
Speaker
I think for me of like games that like didn't really have like a much memorable story, but were memorable for the gameplay. Yeah. Oh, fuck. I mean, there's so many I could probably name off that I'm not remembering at the moment. I would say Stardew Valley. I mean, Stardew is great. Stardew is always memorable for me, but that's because I play it every fucking year I find now.
01:24:49
Speaker
Yeah, that's it's one of my favorite games. Like technically there's a story with taking down Jojo, but like, honestly, that's not why people play the game. No. Yeah, I guess. I guess starting really doesn't have like a like the story is my grandpa died. Oh, no, he died and I'm going to take down an evil corporation. Yeah, my grandpa died and turned into a bed and then he gave me a letter.
01:25:14
Speaker
That are just changing the opening scene of like you can give grandpa a better bed or you can give him a worse bed No bed grandpa's just dead on the floor grandpa's because grandpa's a table and you see Grandpa's a ping-pong table and George and Evelyn are playing ping-pong Oh my god
01:25:36
Speaker
There's a lot. It's funny. There's a lot. The change literally nothing else. It's just that first seed. My goal is to play Stardew again this year because of the one point six updates. It's I need to get back to playing it. I started a new farm on stream. I was like, I want to experience the whole thing.
01:25:51
Speaker
I mod Stardew, I can't play vanilla Stardew anymore ever since I played modded. That's fair. I'm scared to mod games. Stardew Valley expanded is like the best mod for that game ever. I touched it for a little bit, but I never went back to it for some reason. I think I was starting to get burnt out of Stardew when I downloaded it, so I just never. That makes sense. Yeah. But it's yeah, that I would say, honestly, like no one talks about the story like any Mario game, first of all.
01:26:22
Speaker
Like, oh, my God, you're right. People like Mario for the gameplay. Yeah. No one ever talks about the story. Nobody ever talks the story about Mario going to going on a tropical vacation, getting framed for vandalism and community service while in the process, saving the goddamn island from Bowser's son. Yeah. And then climbing a volcano to save Peach, who was kidnapped again at an amusement park.
01:26:52
Speaker
And then going to the top of the volcano only to realize bowser made it his own personal hot tub Is that really the plot of sunshine? I mean, that's basically the plot of sunshine. I've never played sunshine you never played sunshine Never played it what else have you not played eliana, so I don't have to be disappointed later There's a lot of things I didn't play a lot of video games before I started streaming that's the thing I've never played skyrim ever
01:27:23
Speaker
Never touched it. I mean, that was like that's not the worst one I feel.
01:27:28
Speaker
People always get very surprised. They're like, you've never played Skyrim? And I'm like, I'm not that surprised considering. I mean, actually, wait, with how many times Skyrim's been ported? I have a copy of it for the Switch. I just haven't played it. You at least own it. That's fine enough for me. It was gifted to me because someone was like, you haven't played it here for your Switch. And I was like, OK, I still haven't touched it. I'll play it on stream at some point, but I have to

Unplayed Games and Reactions

01:27:54
Speaker
get to it. I've never played Ocarina of Time.
01:27:58
Speaker
I mean, that was fair because I've totally really never played Ocarina of Time either. I touched it. The only Zelda games that I have completed are Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. I never finished Twilight Princess because that stupid Zora temple. And I eventually just walked away forever. Never played Wind Waker, never played Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask.
01:28:28
Speaker
Yeah, I've, uh, I think I'm in the same boat. I've at least played them. Some of them. I got played Twilight Princess, never finished it. Play.Gree of time. Never finished it. Uh, I mean, I didn't really get that far in either of them. I think the only other Zelda game that I've completed is Phantom hour glass and the original legend of Zelda on top of tears of the kingdom and breath of the wild.
01:28:56
Speaker
Oh, I've never finished a single Johto game for Pokรฉmon. It's the only region I've never played through. So no gold, silver or crystal or heart gold or soul silver. Just play heart gold or soul silver. That's what I've been told. That's what I've been told. I started like a soul link for that with a friend and then we just kind of fell off of it and never got back to it. Yeah. Just play heart, cold, soul, silver. They're good. I like them.
01:29:26
Speaker
I think that's all I have to say about that one. That's valid. I mean, at least you played a Pokemon game, so like... Well, I started, like, that was my... Even as someone who didn't play a lot of video games, Pokemon was the thing that I did play, growing up. Because I had an older brother, and it was like, okay, I guess I'm playing this, and then I made friends who liked Pokemon, and it was, alright, this is my thing forever now. That's just...
01:29:51
Speaker
I have something from every generation starting with three. So I have what do I have? I have Ruby. I have platinum. I have black. I have white too. I have X I have Omega Ruby. I have moon and ultra moon. I do have shield We should talk we should talk about sword and shield for a second terms or a shoulder. They're fine. They're fine. What do you it's The thing I'm gonna say this hot take I think story still are fine. I
01:30:20
Speaker
I don't think they're as terrible as everyone says they are. But I do think there's a problem with the games in terms of like you

Critique of Pokemon Sword and Shield

01:30:30
Speaker
can tell. Like here's the thing with Pokemon. Pokemon does not need a story to be good, but Sword and Shield wanted to have a good story and then didn't do that. They gave us good characters. Like here's the thing with Sword and Shield.
01:30:47
Speaker
every time you meet up with people to talk about the story.
01:30:51
Speaker
It's the exact same sentence over and over. Have you heard of the darkest day? Oh, yeah. I don't know. That's pretty weird. And then no new information. Anytime. Oh, yeah. I can tell you how memorable this story was because I completely forgot about the darkest day where you're with Leon. An explosion happens in the distance and then Leon says, oh, don't worry about it. I got it. You go off. And it's like, I'm sorry. You just created an interesting premise and we're not allowed to go check it out.
01:31:20
Speaker
Also, I want to trust Leon in checking out something that even though it's maybe not that far away, he's going to get lost. The least reliable champion. Yeah. Oh, gosh.
01:31:32
Speaker
I don't trust that man with directions at all. Yeah. Well, and again, like that's the thing is I don't think Sword and Shield is a bad game, but I think in terms of like Pokemon games, it's one of the weakest. And that's not like that's not even me being mad about like the national decks or anything, because honestly, I knew that was coming. There was no way. Like I knew in like gen seven, I was like, there's a chance we're getting close to a thousand.
01:31:56
Speaker
that soon we won't have a national dex like that was something i knew and i came in terms with and i was fine with because honestly there are so many yeah and to be fair on the switch you can get every pokemon except like 11 on the switch now that's good
01:32:13
Speaker
So like it's like not that much of an issue anymore. It's like there's it's very limited of like Oh, it's like a handful of poke. There's like a handful of Pokemon that yeah, but rather was never who has never appeared in a Pokemon game since the Univer region Yeah, Patrat watch dog. I could pull this. It's like how many Pokemon are not on the are not on the switch Patrat watch dog
01:32:41
Speaker
No, many or is pan stage, pan poor, pan seer, semi-stage, semi-poor, semi-seer. I don't think the elemental monkeys are bad. I should just say. I think I think they got way over hated. And for for for as well. But where we know that for free was going to be in legends. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Lumeo City. Like, come on. Yeah. It's legit. Oh, and Spinda.
01:33:10
Speaker
Spinda's not there either. That's so sad. My boy. Oh, I love Spinda. That's that's interesting. But yeah, watch on the monkeys for a few and Spinda. Those are currently the only Pokemon that are in home as what people call them. If you have them in Pokemon home, they're in home jail because they can't be brought into any other game. Yeah. That's that is unfortunate.
01:33:39
Speaker
That's very important. Wow. Imagine having two of the exact same spot patterned spindas and you can't even put them on your Switch. Looking at this list, though, Furt, we know that Furtfu will be in Legend ZA. Patrat and Wachog most likely will be in Legend ZA as well because- Also, no one talks about them in terms of like, I've never heard a single person say that Patrat is their favorite rodent. Yeah, no one likes Patrat. Like, as someone who loves the Unova region,
01:34:08
Speaker
Patrat and Watchog are probably the only Pokemon from that region that I won't defend in any way. Yeah, no, I agree with that. Like I will. I will defend Trubbish. I will try to hear people say I love this. I mean, fucking despite what you might say about him now, Chugga Conroy did give a very good defense for Trubbish and Garbodor in his Black's playthrough. So you do have that with it because Garbodor is a solid tank.
01:34:38
Speaker
Oh, yeah. No, I used him. I used my Pokemon Black Nuzlocke as like. Toxic protect stall kind of thing. Yeah. And it it was great. I'm pretty sure he's the reason that I beat gets us. It's like no gets us. How about you just continue to take toxic poison? And I'll just use protect. I'll just use protected my own trash. Oh, yep. Nom nom.
01:35:08
Speaker
No, no Or should I say stop? Okay, I'm not gonna make a stom joke stop stop. I'll make it for you. It's okay I don't know. Okay on the topic of Pokemon very quickly. Yeah, I'm gonna I want to give a shout out to these videos this dude made Pokemon quizzes, but they're I Know who you're talking about. Oh my gosh. These are so funny. I
01:35:36
Speaker
Okay, good. I'm glad you see them too. Zane Games. Shout out to Zane Games. He's done two of these. The second one just came out like two days ago as of recording this. It is absolutely funny because one of the answers was, oh, who is this Pokemon? And it's the silhouette of Charizard. Yeah. And the answer was, stop, but he's not scared anymore.
01:36:00
Speaker
There was one, and I don't remember which of the two videos it was, but it was like, the answer is star you. If you say star you, you will get it right. What is the answer? Star you? Incorrect. Star me. Star me, yeah. But it's like, it's just, it's so funny, and I love it so much. Or it's like, if Elastigirl had a Pokemon, what would her Pokemon be? Throw, because Bob throw me.
01:36:28
Speaker
it's so it's so dumb i love it so much it's it's so funny it's fucking great it's great and you see the evolution of it like his friends of like from the first video to the second video of how their answers are like
01:36:47
Speaker
how they just evolved to like try to get whatever. Yeah. They'll see the silhouette and they're like, OK, like it looks like a volt over. So it's like jiggly puff, but from above. Yeah, but that's the classic answer of showing them a circular Pokemon. That's true. That's true. That's the classic one, because that's what the anime did. That's where that joke originated from. Is it really?
01:37:13
Speaker
You don't know the origins of Jigglypuff from above.

Memorable Video Game Music

01:37:16
Speaker
So it was in the Diamond and Pearl seasons. It was when the team got to Snowveil City. I think that's what this. OK, where they were snow point where Ash would go fight Candace. And it's in order for Ash to fight Candace, they had to actually go to school.
01:37:36
Speaker
So they all enroll. They enroll some of the side characters there and also Team Rocket was there as well. All enrolled in school because Team Rocket, they were going to steal Pokemon, but they had to get close so they had disguises.
01:37:51
Speaker
And so it's a name that Pokemon thing and it's like, okay, who's this Pokemon? I can't remember what like options wanted to do. And then three is just a circle. Ash said Voltorb. I think it was Jesse said electrode. It was a bit of like a girl. No, I'm right. No, I'm right. And it's like, actually, neither of you are right. It's Julie Puff from above. I love, I love the anime and they're silly, silly memes.
01:38:15
Speaker
And yeah, it was great. Um, I'll use my trusty frying pan as a dry dry pan. I'm still so mad that there's an episode out there that never made it into the English. This was after the black and white anime where Brock and silent were supposed to meet.
01:38:34
Speaker
Really? Yeah, and like the English voice actor for Brock said he did record the lines for that so he doesn't know what happened to the episode. But there was supposed to be some where those two met and like they didn't know that they both knew Ash and they kind of just handled a Gyarados situation together. I watched it because I wanted to see what it was, but it was really cool. That's interesting. It was it was really neat. I don't know why I didn't make it into the English.
01:38:58
Speaker
Very sad, very sad. Okay, last thing for the memorable game start. Since we've now tackled story and gameplay, music is the last one that you brought up. Yeah. Mario Galaxy for one, obviously. That's my favorite video game soundtrack as a whole. Every single track in that is gorgeous. Honestly, I'm gonna say,
01:39:27
Speaker
This is a weird take, but I need you to like hear me out on it. Doki Doki Literature Club. Because it starts very much like this isn't a soundtrack that you could listen to on your own time.
01:39:43
Speaker
OK, it starts very cutesy and then as things slowly go weird, the music will distort in just little places with like one note being off and so on. And it it's not something you always notice, but it does add a feeling of unease, which really adds to the atmosphere. And I think I think it's incredibly well done to like take. You know, your.
01:40:09
Speaker
your main little melody that doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-
01:40:36
Speaker
And it's just, I think, I thought it was a very creative use of like the signature melody to be used in all these different contexts in terms of how they distorted it and when they, they used it in the final song. Okay. I thought it was just, I thought it was just very well handled. And like, again, that's not a soundtrack I would listen to on my own time, but for the game itself.
01:41:02
Speaker
Excellently done. Excellent. OK. And I've not played Doki Doki, so I can't really say much to it. OK, I have it because it was it was free. I don't know if I spoiled things, but no. Oh, God, no. I watched the game theory about the game long ago that I'm like, OK, then. Yeah. Yeah. So like if you if you play it when you like get to the more fucky wucky bits as I.
01:41:29
Speaker
When you get to those, listen, because every once in a while, the soundtrack will play slightly off. It's a very creative use of that, and I think it's very smart. Good to know. Yeah. Also, shout out to Undertale, just in general. Oh my gosh. That soundtrack bangs. There's a reason that there's a YouTube channel that made a whole musical out of Undertale soundtrack.
01:41:57
Speaker
Well, it did. Frickin. Oh, God, what's it called? Man on the Internet. Oh, OK. Nope. That's not what I was thinking of, of who might have done that. I was thinking of the people who made the Phoenix write a musical and Five Nights at Freddy's a musical. Oh, random encounters. Yeah, random encounters. That's. Yeah. No, no, no. They didn't. They didn't just do one song. They took every single song in the soundtrack and like made a like if Undertale was a musical and you can watch the whole musical. It's like four hours long. Oh, but I've seen it. Wow. It's a long game.
01:42:28
Speaker
It's it was very well done. And they did songs for the genocide route as well. And their version of megalovania is, I think, my favorite fan song of megalovania. It was it was very well done. Huh. Very well done.
01:42:47
Speaker
All right. I mean, for me, for me, memorable soundtrack in Final Fantasy 14 is like you can play like there's so many things, pieces of music that stand out to me from obviously answers being like one of the classics.
01:43:04
Speaker
to with the dragon to dragon song to big fat tacos and ultima and how leviathan wants you to buy a phone um to eat oblivion and return to oblivion which is just absolute peak paramour um
01:43:23
Speaker
That's a joke. Paramore does not actually do vocals for the game. Could you imagine? I mean, fuck. So can Paramore make it happen. I'd love to hear Paramore. I would love to hear Paramore cover Oblivion. That would be incredible, actually.
01:43:38
Speaker
But like so kid just did an incredible job with it that like there's so many pieces of music that just Bring back just the memories of whatever expansion of when I first experienced it in and obviously and there's a video that's flowing floating around right now of what of which is basically like a video essay about the song flow which is an endwalker and
01:44:02
Speaker
I mean, well, it's not as memorable to me because it's like, OK, cool. We just killed spoiler alert. We just killed mommy. For those who play 14, you'll understand that for those who don't, I'm not going to dive more into that. But you kill mother and it's that song plays and it's very emotional. I didn't get as emotional as I've said before. Ed Walker, it was good, but I didn't get as emotional with it as I thought I would.
01:44:30
Speaker
I got more emotional with Shadowbringers. It was much better, in my opinion. But you got that, and of course, you got like your classic other Final Fantasies like FF6 with Dancing Mad, FF7 with One Winged Angel and its other songs that exist. But like those, oh, and Halo. How can I forget Halo? It's been a long time since I've touched Halo.

Gaming History Highlights

01:44:59
Speaker
I'm not a big first person shooter gamer, but I used to play Halo with my brother like all the time, which was a very fun time. Was there anything else you want to add on the memorable games there, Eliana? No, I think I think I've covered all the games in my brain that I wanted to cover. All right, then. Well, in that case, then it's time for us to dive on into the bonus level and start wrapping things up for today.
01:45:30
Speaker
Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level. And to kick things off, we've got this week in gaming history from the 22nd of April to May 5th. Here's some major events and game birthdays that happened in the past. Starting off with some events on April 26, 2006, Nintendo revealed the name of its upcoming video game system, the Wii. We're getting old, people.
01:45:58
Speaker
We are to think Nintendo 20 years ago was actually the game human. We and not not the not the steps, not the steps. Just think of it like that's that's that makes me feel old. That hurts.

Hollow Knight and Rainbow Road Debate

01:46:12
Speaker
Yeah. To think about. That's who time is a weird soup. So it's a weird primordial soup.
01:46:24
Speaker
On the 30th of April, 2005 in Seattle, Washington, Nintendo held the final competitions of a month-long Pokemon Emerald contest with top players from the US and Canada. The winner was Chris Darling.
01:46:38
Speaker
And on May 1st in 1992, in the lawsuit of Atari versus Nintendo, a jury in a San Francisco courtroom found that Nintendo's licensing program had not hurt Atari. The jury concluded that Nintendo did not try to monopolize the video game market. However, the jury was deadlocked on the issues of illegal maintenance of a monopoly and unfair restraint of trade.
01:47:00
Speaker
And for game birthdays, April 22nd, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl turns. Oh, God, math. I've done this math before. 16. 16. Look at that.
01:47:14
Speaker
I just finished a math class. Also, on April 22nd, the world ends with you turns 15. No, wait, 17. The world ends with 17. 17. Then that means the world ends with you is going to be 16 then. Yeah. Oh, my gosh. April 26, Super Smash Bros turns 25. Oh, wow. 25 years of Smash Bros.
01:47:42
Speaker
That's pretty neat, honestly, I love that. On the April 27th, Mario Kart Wii turns 16. And on the 28th, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe turns seven. And lastly, May 5th, Shrek 2, the video game turns 20. Oh my gosh, I love that video game. I remember renting that from Blockbuster.
01:48:12
Speaker
It was one of the first games I ever played. I remember that much. It was I can still hear hero time. Yeah, exactly. I talk about memorable video games. I don't know what was happening there, but whoever recorded that, that's going to be in my brain until I'm dead. Like, honestly, I'm never going to forget that for some reason.
01:48:35
Speaker
Alright, good to know. We now move on to top five. This is for Eliana because you're currently playing through Hollow Knight. Oh gosh, I haven't finished Hollow Knight though. Well, you've probably fought enough bosses for this list. So your top five Hollow Knight bosses so far. Oh gosh, okay. I'm gonna start with my favorite, was the Mantis Council.
01:48:59
Speaker
That's a good one. I love the Mantis Council. They were, they were really fun. They were a really good challenge that I didn't feel like I didn't feel like I was getting my ass kicked too much, you know? Like, like it was hard, but it felt manageable. So I very much enjoyed them. Um, after that, I can't remember her name and I feel really, really bad. Um, but the girl in the dress, what is her name? Hornet?
01:49:28
Speaker
Yeah! Her first fight was kind of like a mini boss fight, which I'm counting because I'm not through the game yet. I feel bad because I don't know the names of all the bosses. I mean, just giving the general idea of who the bosses are really helps. The next one is there's one in a giant suit of armor, but he's like a white blob on the inside.
01:49:53
Speaker
Oh, like isn't that the first boss of the game? I think so. But I had a lot of fun with him. I think he was a great introduction. OK. I'm trying to think like what other bosses have I fought in this game. What other bosses were there?
01:50:20
Speaker
We take them we take that we take that Moving on to head-to-head two games enter one game leaves except is they're not games because I do know Eliana is a big fan of the Mario Kart series as We talked a lot of Mario Kart last time and even made the joke of if Justin Trudeau is gonna be a DLC character or not because Canada is Canada Mario Kart now
01:50:45
Speaker
a battle of rainbow roads. So all the rainbow roads are in all of them. Which one, which one comes out the best? That's, that's tricky because there's a lot of really good rainbow roads. Um, I really like wheeze and the three DS's. I think those are the two
01:51:06
Speaker
best rainbow roads, but I'm, I'm going to give it to we, I'm going to give it to we call it nostalgia. But like, honestly, I think, I think we is a very good challenge in terms of like some of the sharp turns and like that area with like the two giant holes you have to drive around. Yeah. And using motion controls if you're a
01:51:31
Speaker
I'm using tilt controls. I'm using tilt controls. I remember doing that with, you know, the tilt controls because that's pretty much that's almost what you had to do. Oh, actually, yeah, that is what you have. I think you still have to do like there is a challenge. It was very, very tricky. But it was a lot of fun and it felt so satisfying when you actually like be it. Like here's the thing. I think 3DS Rainbow Road is the most gorgeous of the Rainbow Roads. I think it takes you on this beautiful journey.
01:52:02
Speaker
but it's easier than, um, wheeze rainbow road. I think wheeze rainbow road is trickier, but wheeze rainbow road is more satisfying to complete than the SNES rainbow road. That's fair. I think like the SNES rainbow road is blinding. It's so good.
01:52:20
Speaker
Aesthetically, I really like the N64 re-dodged in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Oh, that one's gorgeous. I love that one. That's the one they show on the cover. Yeah, I like that one. Aesthetically in Deluxe. Yeah. But no, I probably agree with you on the Wii. I would probably agree with you there. Yeah.
01:52:42
Speaker
Let me add to Tony's game poll, our poll for this season. If Kingdom Hearts 4 was to add a Disney Pixar world to the game, what world would you add? Ooh. That hasn't been added before. Now, if you do say something that's added before, I will let you know. Yeah. Honestly. What would you add? The Great Before. The Great Before.
01:53:10
Speaker
Oh, from Soul. I think that would be really interesting. I think that would be a really fun world to explore. I would probably add The Great Before. Okay. That's an interesting one. Well, because again, they introduced some really interesting things, but not everything. And there's that one big hallway full of all the things where you can find what your purpose is. And I think you can find a lot of really interesting things in there. Okay. I don't know what villain would be in there, because Soul doesn't have a villain.
01:53:39
Speaker
I mean, it would just be the heartless, really. It would probably just be the heartless. Yeah. Like the villain, there wouldn't be a Disney villain per se. It would probably be more of just one of the big heartless things. Yeah. Yeah. That's that's what I would add. I think adding the great before from Soul would be very, very interesting.
01:53:55
Speaker

Speaker

Honestly, we talked about it so much that I gotta make my recommendation. A.I. The Somnium Files. If you haven't played it, I'm sorry that you heard all the spoilers. Go play it.
01:54:55
Speaker
Yeah, and if you skip the spoilers good on you absolutely go play it if you don't know what happens Oh my gosh Go for such a treat of a murder mystery game It is a great time and also an update on does mellow think the fish is hot?
