Speaker: In my last will and testament, make sure Robert Dunn does not go to my funeral. I'm doing an episode there. Are you kidding me
Speaker: me? Welcome to the...
Speaker: What's the deal? Let me try that again. It's the Down With DP podcast with Robert Dunn and Ron Prendamano in three night podcasts.
Speaker: This is mini Robert, because this is going to be a mini episode. It's a small episode. it's it's After all, it's going to small episode because, well, first off, this is the Down With DP podcast. I'm Ron Frandamano, and with me is the lovely Robert Dunn.
Speaker: Oh, wow. ah This is a mini episode because somebody zo decided that they have to go to Italy for some reason. Just so you know, i don't want to. i mean, what's even there? i mean, nothing. Actually, they're one of the better countries for gluten-free options, surprisingly.
Speaker: Wow, look at them. Yeah. um There's actually a terminology that I came up with and I'm very proud of. You want to hear it? Sure. so if if um if you ever visit Italy, I've been there once before. And one of the things I noticed was ah at night, you hear them dumping all of the wine bottles because people be drinking wine every night in Italy. And so you just hear the dumpster like them throwing all the glass bottles in the dumpster or the recycling, whatever. And I call that Italian thunder, Italian thunder. And you just hear the roar of the of the wine bottles being thrown away at night.
Speaker: You don't think this is why Pompeii was destroyed, do you? I think that's exactly why Pompeii was destroyed. But hey, this is why they're fucking burning books, because I don't want the real truth, Ron.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, they not are they burning books in Italy? I don't think they are. Oh, not in Italy, no. No, Italy, no, no, no, no. no There's no Trump in Italy. but um Yeah, so we're doing mini-episodes because Robert's going to be gone for a total of two weeks.
Speaker: So we're going to do some mini-episodes. I'll probably chime in on the Instagram, do some videos, just something about how I miss Robert so dearly. oh yeah. Yeah, we were going to get Jimmy Fallon to replace me, but he like dropped out again.
Speaker: i don't know what's going on with him. yeah He said he had some other show to do. I don't know. Stupid. Oh, God. Oh, right. Also, Ron. um Yeah. I feel so bad. Ron is on. He's on Steam right now. He's running on Steam. Yeah. My flight was delayed like four hours. So I got in early this morning rather than late last night. So I'm a wee bit tired, maybe a little cranky. I have my coffee, which is great. But yeah.
Speaker: I don't know, because Robert has to go to fucking Italy. i have to wake up and do this stupid fucking shit. So, yeah, which I love which I love. Right, right, right. We love stupid fucking shit, but it's fine.
Speaker: Well, not to ah put you in a good or bad mood, but i may have had a heart attack. It's fine. Oh, yeah, I remember that. won't hear the end of that one. I hope we do hear the end of it, though. Yeah, know for for for good reason. You will in three weeks when the procedure and the results are done and you'll find out whether i actually had one. So there you go. Okay. Stay tuned. i had a very I had a very dark joke to say to that, but all right. um I'm not going to say it. Yeah. after After the procedure, the show will now be called Down With D. Okay. yeah
Speaker: Yeah. that That's a much cleaner joke. The P stands for passed on. Okay. That's. oh Yeah. That's. That was actually my joke. I'm like, well, we we'll hear the end of it at the funeral. um um But I don't want you to die. You're not invited.
Speaker: Wow. Make sure you're not invited. I'm like, yeah, in my last will and testament, make sure Robert Dunn does not go to my funeral. Yeah, he looks like this.
Speaker: I'm doing an episode there. are You kidding me All right. um So now it's getting dark. I don't want to. I'm getting sad. I'm getting sad. Let's make it happy. And by happy, I mean aggravating. So.
Speaker: It seems that a judge has greenlit the Paramount Warner Brothers merger for $111 billion, dollars yeah which is about.
Speaker: You mean a judge under this administration allowed a merger? Yeah. You got to be kidding me. Yeah, yeah. And so the terms, the terms that I've know, I just read it right before the episode, so I'm sure we'll understand more as things go on. But apparently in the deal, Paramount Warner Brothers has to make 30 films a year.
Speaker: And for the next three years after that, 32 films a year. I think that's the idea of like keeping things running and like, you know, Because, you know, people are worried about the monopoly. Well, how many taking a wage?
Speaker: How many films on average to each studio make a year? I actually don't know. That's a good question. My only concern, and this is obviously biased because I'm in Los Angeles, is if we are going to film, I want I want a lot of it to be in l L.A. And obviously that's because I live here. Obviously, New York actors would want more work in New York. I get it wherever you're at. Sure.
Speaker: That's my only concern, but also it's also a concern where if they just take it out of the country and yeah, they make 30 films a year, but they're making it London, you know? So that's, it's just a lot of, lot of like, we don't know what's going to happen. okay The industry has taken a lot of hits from the SAG strikes, obviously COVID, but, and now not sure what's happening with this, but I am more, I'm more sad.
Speaker: Well, not more sad, but I'm sad about if they, I heard they're going to. They're going to change the name of Warner Brothers. I hope they don't. No, I hope they don't either. That would like ruin Animaniacs.
Speaker: Right. and i Because i I want a WB tower. I drive past that water tower every day for by Warner Brothers, and I see it. can we Can't we get that like ah protected under California or like you know protected under National Historic Landmarks? like i mean Right.
Speaker: Exactly. Exactly. I know that they are keeping... the I think they're keeping the Paramount plus Warner Brothers Discovery streaming separate enough. I don't think they're going to combine that.
Speaker: But that's all I've read so far. I could have some details wrong, but I literally saw it right before coming on here. This is this is an opinion. Do you think with this merger, we're going to see more AI in film?
Speaker: Probably. i mean, isn't like a big Trump guy behind like a lot of this, like a the company that like owns them all? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised, right? I mean, yeah yeah that's also a huge concern.
Speaker: um i would just hope that. I want to I want to have hope in the audience, in the general audience. I would like to imagine even if you are someone that is not artsy whatsoever, you're like, hey, I just want to see superheroes fight.
Speaker: I would hope that even people like that want to see actual people still. I mean, mean yeah, i'm I'm hoping, you know. I don't know. I don't know. I'm hoping none of the movies are watered down.
Speaker: Right. You know, I hope it's not crap. and if you're going to release crap, release porn. Okay? Yeah. Start releasing porn. At least you don't need much of a script for that anymore. Right, right. Oh, you're my stepson. You failed your math. death Give me your dick. Yeah.
Speaker: do I'll give you an A. Obviously, I've seen that movie before. Yeah, um I'll give you an A if you give me a D, you know. oh oh Hey, Hey, yo. I'm talking about anal sex, Ron. Look, look, we just wrote we just wrote half the movie right there. Yeah, we should get into porn as writers, Ron, but we should get into porn. I've thought about directing porn before. I was curious. knock um You know what? I was curious.
Speaker: it I mean, yeah, I actually i had met I auditioned for a porn director once. Did you really? Yeah. like I want i like that was your character was the porn director.
Speaker: No, it was actually a um it was a guy who made a living directing porn. It wasn't as far as I knew. i mean, he seemed passionate about it, but he wasn't like I think he wanted to be like regular movie director. So he finally like retired. He's like, yeah, I'm done with porn. Like that was a good paycheck. I got paid. You know, he had a wife. He had, it you know, he he wasn't just like this guy. Yeah.
Speaker: And ah for like his first movie, I auditioned for And it was really good. It was a really good script. I mean, you could tell the guy was like, I'm ready to be just a movie director. Porn was great. Don't get me wrong. It was a good paycheck, but I'm ready to do a movie now.
Speaker: So I got to respect that. So, I mean, Sylvester Stallone started off as, you know, you know, in porn. That was his yeah big role. And the movie, I don't think the movie was even called the Italian Stallion back then. It was called like,
Speaker: Spaghetti and meatballs. No, no, It was like kitty Kitty something nightclub or something like that. Look it up. Yeah. um There was also, i don't know if you remember this, it was also so rumors of the Red Power Ranger. It was called the Party at Kitty and Studs. that was the oh oh That was the original name. And then eventually it became the Italian Stallion because um of Sylvester Stallone's success with Rocky and things like that.
Speaker: Right. Well, um they there was also rumors of the Red Power Ranger being in gay porn and um because they found a clip of some guy who did look like him. He was like way ripped, though, like kind of like Incredible Hulk size, like a giant fucking dude. And he did have the same face like it. went This was like years ago. And they people were like screen like screenshotting like his face and like trying to compare. And it wasn't him. It was just a guy that kind of looked like him. And he even came out. He's like, I've never done gay porn.
Speaker: but This is not. I mean, it pays better. Probably. Oh, yeah, it does. and know it It significantly pays better. HBO did a special years ago where like a straight porn scene, you get like two to five hundred dollars a shot, a scene. And like in gay porn, it's three thousand or five thousand dollars a scene. At least really at that time. Yeah. the The difference was that much. Give me that. Give me that website. So I know like to not go to it. Like, give me all that information. Sure. It was a I forget the HBO documentary, but it came out in like the early 2000s.
Speaker: So that that's what that's what they were making back then. Right. Let me just put a bookmark on my tab so I know not to go to it. You know, it's it's considered specialty porn, which is why it's, you know, you make. Oh, it's special.
Speaker: o Wow. Speaking of special, I actually, oh, I should have brought it. I have a big old box of crumble. Oh. And here's what I'm going to say, Ron. You might like this. Oh, no, I probably don't. And it might ruin our potential our potential sponsorship that will never happen. Exactly. But um is it possible that I might be a little bit over it? You're over crumble? don't know.
Speaker: You're over crumble? A little bit.
Speaker: I wish that you had like, oh, yeah, no, no. Well, here's the thing. I do like crumble still, but there there's been a few cookies where I'm like, it's kind of a lot, kind of like coming in hot, coming in too heavy. Like what you mean?
Speaker: Like almost like too rich, like i basically like I could take two bites and I'm done. So I assume brownie style cookies or something like that or something. No, not chocolate I should grab them from my fridge, but... I mean, you're more than welcome to. It's our show. It's not like we're... you know having to be That's true. We only have one producer who doesn't actually produce, so it's fine. No, no. um and yeah But I like their like normal chocolate chip one, but there's just There's...
Speaker: you know there's there there there's There's winners and losers, I'll say with it. But i'm so I'm still a fan. Otherwise, I think, you know what I need to do? We got the giant. We got the regular size cookies.
Speaker: And I think I think if you get the minis, you're going to be good. I think that's where I messed up. I didn't. We didn't get the minis. OK, because that's like just enough. But what happened? There's something that happened in New York. so what So the cookie wars have definitely taken it.
Speaker: turn especially here in new york city and the surrounding areas uh-huh and i have talked about this cookie spot when i when i could eat these cookies i spoke about it very highly chip city okay chip city known for their big cookies delicious cookies have abruptly closed all locations What? Every location, including the 22 in the New York area. So what had happened was, according to ABC7 New York, the company got a new president a few months ago with it. with it This is quote this is out from the article. Within the past week, the co-founder and former CEO sued, saying he was owed money.
Speaker: And then employees basically got an email on Thursday... And yeah, that was it, that they couldn't stay. It says, ah and this is quoted here, impossible to stabilize the business in the current environment. Wait, can you repeat that again? The C, the ex-CEO? This is the quote here. Okay, here we go.
Speaker: Quote, the company got a new president a few months ago. Within the past week, the co-founder from former CEO sued, saying he was owed money, end quote, ABC7 New York.
Speaker: How much money was he owed that they had to close the whole fucking business? short article. Didn't tell me, but whatever the lawsuit was. Yeah. I feel like there's got to be more than that. got to be more than just some sum of money to close everything down. that's crazy. Let's see if I can find something else here real quick. That was the article why read yesterday. i know. I believe you, but it's like, I feel like there's some kind of like, um,
Speaker: I don't know. Yeah, that's kind of spike going on. Here's another New York NBC for let's see. Let's see. Also, locations in Jersey and Texas as well.
Speaker: Somebody used that stupid. That's the way the cookie crumbles. Someone's got a chip on their shoulder. five dollars So this one seems to be attacking more of their business, like $5 a cookie with the way the economy is. I mean, most people aren't spending $5 a gallon on gas in New York, in the city anyway. So you can go buy a fucking cookie, right?
Speaker: um ah Maybe not. A lot of people can. I completely understand that. um Let's see what it does. What did this motherfucker say? i can get a cookie somewhere else, but for the people who make a living here, you don't expect that. So sudden.
Speaker: Shut up. Yeah, I don't know. It sounds like a bitter. seat Did they fire him? Is that what happened? I don't know. But it's still going on. It's a money dispute. There's still a lawsuit, though. It was not clear if it was connected in any way to the recent developments. So, yeah.
Speaker: This is why we need AI CEOs. but I don't think I blame the economy because as much as I travel throughout, you know, America, like especially in cities that should be struggling.
Speaker: i'm sorry. I see a lot of people going out to eat in Los Angeles. I see a lot of people getting hotel rooms in Los Angeles, San Francisco, um New York. I see a lot of tourists here all the time. And it's like nobody's doesn't seem like people are struggling.
Speaker: I'm sure they are. I know they are. I know have friends are. I don't know. we We've taken a hit as well. But yeah, I don't. Yeah, I was about to say i am. But yeah, but then I'm like literally going to Italy tomorrow. But like if these people are struggling, then like where are you getting all this money to dine at these expensive restaurants at $40 a plate?
Speaker: Right, right. yeah I'd rather just go have like Chinese food for like 10, 15 bucks. Yeah, honestly, my favorite times out is like when even when I went to the city, I went to an Italian joint and I saw a show on Broadway and it was great.
Speaker: which isn't it Which can be an expensive night. It definitely. Oh, yeah. Broadway tickets. Yeah. It was probably like 200 something a pop. That's a insane. Yeah. Or maybe a little bit under. But I just remember I remember it being kind of pricey and I was like in the last row.
Speaker: but But I mean, I mean, I know people are struggling in New York. I see it every day. Yeah, for sure. I'm not trying to you know say people aren't struggling and stuff like that, but there's a lot of it it doesn't see that seems like they're not. So, I don't know. I don't know. know that These aren't the elite rich. Unless these are just Gen Zers living off their credit cards, which is also a huge possibility as well.
Speaker: Right, right. And blame us for not for not retiring, stupid cunts. Exactly. why Why don't you just retire and buy a house, Ron? What's stopping you? I don't... Everything?
Speaker: ah What's stopping me? um I mean, it's not a serious question. I'm having serious thought, though. Oh, God. Oh, God. All right. Collect Social Security at 39. There we go. There we go.
Speaker: But um I do. Are you ready to joke around? Yeah, yeah, I think so. I could use a cold joke because right now in Los Angeles, it is gonna be in it's like in the high 90s.
Speaker: So I'm ready to get cold. I'm ready to get jokey. Here we go, guys. We're getting into cold jokes. Cold jokes. Dying from your cold jokes. This is cold jokes, everyone. This is the segment of the show where Ron and I, we send each other jokes we have not read before, but we read each other's jokes. And um and we we share a laugh. We share a little laugh. How's that? I think this might be... I could be wrong. People chime in. Is this your favorite segment on the show?
Speaker: Is the cold joke your favorite? Yeah. Yeah, would you let us know? Would you let us know? Feel free to comment on anything. Just let us know if it's the favorite one. All right. Do you want me a to go for it? Yeah, actually, I do. I do. You're leaving, so you go first.
Speaker: Oh, so you're reading mine? Yeah. Okay, cool. Cool, cool, cool. All right. Wiener. Here we go. um and mean you related to Anthony Wiener because you're a wiener? I'm related to... Starting Wienerville.
Speaker: Damn i was going to say Mark. Yeah, was going to say Mark Wiener from Wienerville. Anthony Wiener is the, ah he ran for mayor in New York. I'm thinking of Mark Wiener. That's what was thinking of. that Oh, we could talk about Wienerville, bro. Anthony Wiener is the guy who like showed his dick.
Speaker: Not showed his dick. Anyway, go on. He probably would have made a good mayor if it wasn't for his sex kid. Go on. My dream has been to be on Wienerville, which obviously won't happen because show is over. I literally dreamed of being Wienerized. Oh, that show is so cool.
Speaker: i I literally had a dream of it because I didn't understand how they did it as a child. If you know. So what I'm talking about, and I'll get to the cold joke in a second. Wienerville was like kind of a variety show. it was it was by it was run by one guy who who had like puppets. He kind of used his face with a puppet body. But he had this idea where he was like um he would like transform kids into the puppets and you see their faces. But you would get Wiener eyes. So you were put in this like red box and the red box would shrink.
Speaker: And I, oh, I didn't know how they did it. Obviously the kids are just being like on a little elevator and it looks like they're shrinking, but I wanted to be, and I called it being wienerized. I wanted to be wienerized so bad.
Speaker: I literally had a dream about it as a child. It was such a unique show. And then they would show, like they would show old cartoons like Mr. Magoo or something like that. So I always thought that was really cool. Enjoyed that. ah Yeah. Yeah. But let's read your joke, Robert.
Speaker: All right, here we go. Cold joke from Robert. Whoa, this is bigger than I expected. That's what she said. What's the whole point? ah Okay. Let me see. Screw me.
Speaker: Okay. Hold on. Hold on. All right. We're almost there. We're almost there. making sure I got the whole thing. That's all. Cool. Okay. Good. ah no Excuse me. um A few feel-good stories have made the news recently.
Speaker: Oh, there There we
Speaker: nashville airports announcing plans to rename it dolly parton after dolly parton and a scientist identifying a new ridiculous adorable species of cat am actually familiar with all these stories i guess we can all count this as another win for the fucking liberals
Speaker: oh go there we go All right. Mine's a little more inappropriate. Okay, cool. Whoa. You gave me that's a long joke. All right, here we go, guys.
Speaker: In response to New York Attorney attorney General Leticia James. Yes. Being assigned to Cornell University case where seven male students raped a female student for hours, Trump said that James is corrupt and he feels bad for anyone going against her.
Speaker: He then went on to say that those male college students remind him of himself in the younger days. He also went on to say he sees himself in those boys.
Speaker: Okay. Is that the same sentence? Oh, ah okay. Now I get it. Oh, there we go. Okay. Okay. There we go. Oh, there we go. All right. All right, guys. All right.
Speaker: Well, this was just a mini episode, guys. yeah This is the end of episode one, episode two, which will be released the week afterwards. We're going to have a, you know, little rant. Oh, I will. I will say real quick because there's a, for a timing reason. Um,
Speaker: There's no no wrong with sports segment tonight, but the Tampa Bay Rays start playing the Yankees tonight. I'm wearing my Italian Rays hat. Let's go Rays. All right. Let's go Rays. All right, guys. We will. Thanks for joining us. It's just a little little teaser, little tease.
