Deck: The first... Cast the first pod with our new name. Thanks, Nolan, for getting that done.
angrymike: Hello. Yeah, very good.
N D: Yes.
angrymike: Sounded very professional.
N D: Yep.
Deck: Yes.
angrymike: i have to say
Deck: It's almost like you're on radio or something like that.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: That's all.
N D: Got to keep it fresh, right?
Deck: There you go.
N D: you Got to keep it fresh.
Deck: Alright.
N D: Hey, welcome in. All right.
Deck: Yeah, here we go.
N D: I'm excited. Very exciting week.
Deck: Here we go.
N D: Came out of a great weekend. um Of some good football, we had... Lots of injuries. We had two officials that. Tangled with some players.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: What more can we ask for over a weekend, right?
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: Wow. Well... So. i Mike, I don't know if you what you think about Nolan and I back and forth. No one sends me a text on the side. Let's quit arguing in front of Mike.
Deck: He might think we're idiots or something.
angrymike: Oh, I don't care. No, no it's great.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: it's great it it just shows we we talk outside the pod too you know it's
N D: ah
Deck: Yeah.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: there was
angrymike: Anything that's going on, you know we're we're that entrenched in our teams.
Deck: it
angrymike: and love to Love to share it with each other.
Deck: Yeah. Wow.
angrymike: so there's This 30 minutes, they're just getting a little snippet of what we talk about on the weekend.
Deck: Of what we talk about all week long, yeah.
angrymike: so
Deck: so
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: No, I... I think we were both just trying to outdo each other yesterday.
angrymike: ah
Deck: Nolan, did it get a little deeper than you wanted it to or what?
N D: No! No, no. I...
Deck: No.
N D: That was good.
Deck: Okay. All right. I thought maybe I hurt your feelings. and i wasn't i quote I told my wife, I said, I think I hurt Nolan's feelings.
N D: No, no, I don't ever get it
Deck: And she's like, again?
N D: If I want to get my feelings heard, I go on X. All right.
Deck: Well, yeah, there you go.
N D: No.
Deck: off Right on, right on.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: So let's, hey, we're going to switch it up. We kind of talked beforehand. So we're going to talk about Detroit. And I, Angry Mike's. put something out there last night that Ben Johnson was actually Detroit.
Deck: So what what made you to decide to put that, Mike?
angrymike: Oh, just, you know, it. Just the the way Detroit is. You know, and and some people got on me because the offense still looks great, you know. But. When you're getting the freaking break speed off you on ah on defense.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: The offense has to keep up, you know? So I... Dan Campbell, I just think... got a ton of credit for the turnaround in detroit and i think he gave them a different attitude But, man, it it just seems like once Ben Johnson left.
angrymike: I don't know if it was an edge he provided or a confidence they provided, but it just seems like that team is just deflated. like Especially on D, they got a lot of weapons and... Spent a lot of draft capital, a lot of free agency money, and they're just not.
Deck: they
angrymike: They're just not it. You know, it's bad.
Deck: Right.
angrymike: So, so you know, and maybe I was needling a little bit, but but still, it just seems like once...
Deck: Yeah. yeah
angrymike: Once Ben Johnson left, it like the bears started to rise. and detroit started to fall and and to be honest with you i'm here for it because i hate detroit and i'll flat out say it but i respected them but two years at at the top man it felt like 40 years to that to that fan base just because they've been terrible for so long
Deck: Or they thought they were... Yeah, yeah.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: They thought they were the Kings. and And, you know, I really thought they should have won the Super Bowl in one of those two years there, but they obviously... Nolan's always called him Dan Gamble, so we always kind of have a chuckle over that. It's it's nice to see him kind of going back into the end into the toilet. but You know, usually when you score 26 points, that's usually enough to win an NFL game. but Not for the Lions.
N D: Well, and they both had over.
Deck: please
N D: 400 yards.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: I mean. I mean, that was an offensive explosion last night. and I didn't watch a lot of it. um I watched bits and pieces of it, but it just seemed. Bryce Young was so smooth in the end.
N D: back there and i mean he just
angrymike: mm -hmm
N D: He just, there was one play I tuned in and he threw a touchdown and he just kind of looked over the guy and hit his helmet. The other guy hit his helmet. and It was like a 50 yard. I'm like, that was sweet.
N D: I mean, it was.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: Smooth and... He's... Caroline, I obviously get beat by. Cleveland, Cleveland actuallys actually showing that they're a good football team. but Um, Yeah, Carolina looks good. I mean, a win last night puts them at 2 -2, but...
N D: They're they're legit. They're definitely gonna get a good shot of winning their division.
Deck: Well, yeah, they're divisions. Pretty. Pretty terrible, but yeah. Um, i watched a little bit of it as well so I remember him When Bryce Young first came out, i everyone said he was going to be a bust. and yeah know Sometimes it just takes a guy a little bit to get rolling.
Deck: So.
angrymike: Yeah, you know, and that's what I try to preach a little bit because Green Bay has been draft and developed pretty much my entire life. but it's like I think we tag people saviors and we tag people busts way too early. Like I i always razz about.
angrymike: you know, Matthew golden. Oh, we had no touchdowns last year. If we ignore. the touchdown of the biggest game they had last year versus the bears in the playoffs. You know, that was a touchdown, but it's like this year, he's finally kind of emerging a little bit as a second year guy. He's on pace for 1200 yards and, and, you know, nine touchdowns. It's like.
angrymike: That's pretty good for a second -year guy. And then you have guys like Colston Loveland, who we you know the second coming of of Travis Kelsey, and he doesn't have 100 yards yet this year.
angrymike: you know But it's about game flow.
Deck: right
angrymike: it's about You know, yeah it's not all box score stuff. And Bryce Young's one of those things. They wrote him off the first year. He's a bust. He sucks. he didn't have any weapons when he started and and to be honest with you He's...
angrymike: Looking. Pretty dang good. I think he he can be considered one of the best young quarterbacks in the league right now.
Deck: Praise.
Deck: Right, right. So now I'm going to pick on you a little bit here, Mike, because last year I remember nothing but, oh, Golden's going to be the greatest. He's the greatest. He's the best ever, you know.
angrymike: Mm hmm.
Deck: And then all of a sudden he didn't have a good year in Packer fans. quickly turned on him. Bye. as I saw. But now this year, now that he's doing well, there i see, we told you he was going to be good. He was going to be good.
angrymike: I don't know.
Deck: It's like... Wait a minute. Wait a minute.
angrymike: I don't know. I don't know what Packer fans are thinking of. i I saw a lot of Bears fans say that to me, but...
Deck: Yes.
angrymike: ah Packers fans, I think, tend to be patient. but You know, we said before the beginning of the year, of course, we didn't think Jaden Reed would get hurt. week two and be out for the season. but They cleared the deck a little bit for opportunities for him, and he's got a ton more targets compared to last year.
Deck: Yep.
angrymike: Same with Christian Watson. it the Both those guys, Watson. I think he's third in touchdowns and like eighth in yards and Matthew Golden's top 25 in both. and But it's all about opportunities.
angrymike: I mean, they got rid of Dobbs, got rid of Wicks, and all of a sudden now. They're throwing to their best players. it's um it's It's amazing how that works. You throw to your best players, you may actually win. and have a decent ah offense.
Deck: you
N D: But I...
angrymike: but
N D: Yeah, Mike, I looked at the box score at halftime and. Watson was nowhere to be seen. I was going to actually send you a text going, is Watson even playing?
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: yeah
N D: Golden had one catch for a touchdown, obviously the game winner, obviously, but. um Yeah, I mean, what... Obviously, you go in at halftime, you make some... corrections or some changes, but... to not throw a ball to Christian Watson, just kind of. stumped me a little bit he only had three targets on the day
angrymike: Yeah, I think it's all about, it's all about. ah game flow and things and when you look at like Matt LaFleur when he's favored or he's playing a team that they think they can they should beat.
angrymike: he just it It just seems like the offense always locks up. you know But I think there's still a little bit of... uh Timid, you know, play with love. You know, he had actually a really good clean pocket yesterday. I think he only got hit twice yesterday, which is amazing, you know, because they didn't have Zeitler yesterday. But I thought the line played better, but it still didn seemed like he was a little jumpy and getting the ball out maybe a little too soon.
angrymike: Um. But... They focused on running the ball. I think they had 73 yards, which I think is a season high. I'm laughing at myself here.
N D: Hmm.
Deck: yeah
angrymike: But um there was a bunch of drop passes too.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: But yeah, I think they were focused on Watson and and wanted... tucker craft and and Matthew Golden to beat them. And, you know, ah Both of them had some pretty bad drops. um But I think it's about game flow.
angrymike: I think the focus this week would be on Watson and and Golden and and Tucker again against the Bears.
Deck: There you go. There you go. but let's ah Let's move on to our... well my team the vikings and Again, Nola and I got a little angry with each other yesterday talking about who's –
angrymike: No.
Deck: Who's the better team, the Bears or the Vikings? Um... You know, I would say it was a tale of two halves. I think the Vikes came out and played a better second half. I think they're starting to find their flow.
Deck: as everyone calls it, the game flow, you know. ah Murray was finding TJ there. and I mean, TJ, 13 targets, 13 catches. That's a pretty damn good day. And so...
Deck: You know, he could have scored a touchdown, but he didn't. I'm guessing the Vegas oddsmakers were mad about that, but just kind of.
N D: Or... They told him not to, or they told him not to score one of the two.
Deck: Huh? huh Or not to score, whichever one it was. But... Yeah, I i think ah the second half they played much better. Ugly win, absolutely. All four have been very ugly, but...
Deck: As one of our wonderful co -hosts, Angry Mike, says, a win is a win. They're 4 -0. And they're 4 -0. And that's it. They got to get rid of the penalties. And they just got to find – I texted you both yesterday and said, give the ball to Claiborne.
Deck: and let them run a little bit more. And... They just... KOC doesn't listen to me. but We'll see what happens next week against the Saints. so
N D: Ollie Gordon II got 100 yards on Flores' defense.
angrymike: That's it.
angrymike: yeah
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: that's that That's nuts.
N D: Ollie Gordon.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: I mean, you know the defense is good. um As the season went on last year was kind of the same thing. The Flores defense was. Dominant. And as you get more tape, obviously you got tape from last year, but.
N D: Um, I don't know. It's a good defense, but... i don't I don't think that puts them as a... You put them number one in the power poll, Chad, but... Um...
N D: Man, I just think this is a very, very bad 4 -0 team. And. I know you don't like hearing that, but When your offense is. You know what?
N D: I just don't know. i
Deck: i i
N D: They're 4 -0. I get it. I get it
Deck: They're 4 -0, buddy.
N D: But... it's It's got to be one of the, I think if you. You jump on the... google and say what's the worst 4 -0 team ever in NFL history, this might be one of the... Top three teams, I think.
Deck: Oh, because everything you read on the internet is true, right?
N D: I don't know.
N D: But your quarterback room is your.
Deck: ah You just... yes Yeah.
N D: Kyler Murray.
Deck: Here we go. Here here we go.
N D: Is not your answer.
Deck: Okay.
N D: Carson Wentz is not your answer.
angrymike: it
Deck: Okay.
N D: You've traded a j J .J. McCarthy. Um. you don't have a quarterback room How long is Aaron Jones going to last? Is he going to last the whole year? He's due for his injury pretty soon.
N D: so
Deck: Okay, and DeAndre Swift doesn't fumble the ball, but he fumbled again yesterday. so Tell me.
N D: He did, and he's in the doghouse. and monounite
Deck: Tell me, tell me.
N D: Ran for 150 yards. well I mean. We got a two -headed monster in Chicago offensively as far as rushing.
Deck: oh man
N D: do the And the Vikings don't.
Deck: well they're they're one Well, because Mason's out.
angrymike: You know what?
Deck: He had surgery on his thumb. Once he comes back, once...
N D: Yeah.
Deck: Jeff's once Jefferson comes back. We were down one of our linemen yesterday. But it's the penalties, man. They get. they you know they just keep shooting themselves in the foot. They got to clean it up.
Deck: They got to clean it up. This team is not as bad as you say they are, Nolan. And I know you love saying that because you think it gets my goat, but they're not as bad as you think they are.
N D: but
Deck: They're a good team. They are a good team.
angrymike: You know, I was saying. I was saying the same thing last year with the Bears. Remember the Bears were... They started hot, but man, a lot of it was predicated on. uh turnovers you know hiding how bad that defense was but
N D: Yep.
Deck: Yep.
angrymike: yeah I mean, the Vikings... they always say the defense always shows up, right? and And I think as long as they play really good defense, they're going to be in a lot of these games. And ah do I think they're a Super Bowl team?
angrymike: Absolutely not.
Deck: Oh, I don't think there's...
angrymike: Do I think they're a playoff team? Yeah, the more...
Deck: I don't think they're a Super Bowl team. i Would never say that.
N D: Are they a playoff team?
Deck: Yeah, they're a playoff team.
angrymike: I think.
N D: in this In this division, are they a playoff team?
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: Yes. Yes.
angrymike: Well, let me put it in perspective, right?
N D: Okay.
angrymike: They're 4 -0, so what do they need what do they need to go the rest of the way?
Deck: Yeah.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: and They need six more wins. I mean, they could be...
Deck: but
angrymike: That could be what at this point? Six and seven? I mean... the rest of the way and make the playoffs likely.
Deck: Right. Right, right. and And Nolan, if you think your Bears are ready to take that Super Bowl step, you got, man, they're not.
angrymike: I mean...
Deck: They're not.
N D: Bit.
Deck: I'm telling you.
N D: And and why are they not why are they not ready for the Super Bowl jump?
Deck: None of these teams.
Deck: because they have Caleb Williams as their quarterback. and they got two better ones sitting on the bench.
N D: Oh.
angrymike: I think...
Deck: You asked!
angrymike: Let me let me step in let me step it into this one a little bit.
Deck: You what? No, no, I want to, I'm just.
angrymike: since i'm ah Since I'm kind of a third -party person here, I...
Deck: Okay.
angrymike: I think. The Bears may have 99 problems, but I don't think Caleb Williams is one of them.
Deck: Oh he's one of them.
angrymike: i I think. what If I was a Bears fan, and i if I want to be really controversial here, I think... With Ben Johnson's ah offense, they can win with anybody. I think you could stick.
angrymike: Tyrod Taylor in there if he stayed healthy and could win with Ben Johnson because he's going to play to the strengths of their quarterbacks. And and it all comes with the offensive line and the running game. I mean, Bajent. through for a ton yesterday i think he had like 280 yards didn't he he had a pick but
N D: Yep. 264.
angrymike: But when you run for 180 yards or 200 yards, whatever the Bears did, I mean. Team's got to stop the run first, and that opens everything up. so I. I think the quarterback doesn't really matter in Chicago at all.
Deck: So I walked down the... Yep.
angrymike: i think the win regardless.
Deck: I... i I agree with you, except... Caleb Williams is trying too hard to show everybody that he is the quarterback that everybody says he is, and he makes mistakes.
angrymike: Well, he's got the flat. The thing is.
Deck: He's got the pressure on him, man, and that's that's where I was going.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: I wanted to see what Nolan had to say, but he kept quiet because I know he's he's probably on mute right now.
angrymike: ah
Deck: and he's oh he's yeah
N D: What? No, no. I did mute for about 30 seconds.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: but Yeah.
Deck: I... I just think. He, like McCarthy, when he was playing, they just... You have this pressure on your back. Keenum has nothing to lose Keenum comes in Throws a couple passes, wins the game.
Deck: Played a great game. Bajent comes in yesterday. he's He's got nothing. I mean, he's... Chill is... Chill can be. But when Caleb's in there. He's like – they're like calebs Caleb Williams, Caleb Williams, Caleb Williams, and that's pressure. And some of these guys – Can't handle that pressure.
angrymike: Do you think...
Deck: That's just...
angrymike: Do you think like a game manager like a Sam Darnold would excel more in a Ben Johnson offense than a Caleb Williams would? You know, a guy that just reads the offense, just throws where he needs to throw it.
N D: Yep.
angrymike: And and that's why kind of Goff is. Goff's almost like a prototypical quarterback for Ben Johnson offense. I do think Caleb's maybe a mismatch for it.
Deck: Yep.
Deck: That's...
angrymike: Because Caleb likes to do things outside of structure, and he's really good at that.
Deck: Yep.
Deck: Yep.
angrymike: But... That's not. exactly the way Ben Johnson wants that. Offense ran.
Deck: Right.
angrymike: So that's what i that's the criticism I would get. he He flows out of the structure too much when the structure is about as good as it can get in the NFL if you just stayed within it.
Deck: So again, I'll go back. Let's go back to Kyler. And I will say. you know There was times that he could have run for the first down, but he threw it instead. So I don't know if... KOC is saying,
Deck: Don't run. Don't run. You're going to get hurt. Even my wife, you know, she watches football with me and she's like, why didn't he just run? You know, instead of getting...
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: Tackled. And so.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: there's There's just so much pressure. on these starters I just... I don't know. I don't know if Caleb can handle it. I don't know if Tyler can handle it. I i just don't know I mean, in some days, Love doesn't look like he can handle it very well.
angrymike: No. ah
Deck: that's just my Those are my thoughts. and Sorry if I hurt your feelings, Nolan.
N D: No, so...
Deck: But I just don't think – I think Caleb is just – he needs to get – A little more. And, Mike, I agree with your structure on on Ben Johnson's offense, and he just – he He wants, I don't know. It just doesn't seem like a marriage to me, a good one.
N D: We scored 59 points in the first game.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: Caleb threw for 269. We ran for over... Almost 300 yards.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: We're number one in the offense right now. We're one in...
Deck: yeah Are we talking yards?
N D: running. We're talking offense, total offense. Number one. In yards. Number one in rushing. 15th and passing.
N D: We're number three. In defense. Yards allowed. So... There. There's a formula there that shows that this team is.
N D: Ken makes... Do some damage.
Deck: Okay.
N D: They can. And.
Deck: They're 1 -1 with Caleb Williams, and they're 2 -0 with backup quarterbacks.
N D: you
N D: Okay. But we've we've still... Caleb has. Two of the best running backs right now. the best running offense. In the league. Behind him.
N D: I think with this hamstring injury. I think this is gonna slow him down. because he's not going to want to roll out of the pocket as quickly anymore. and Because you saw how it happened. I mean, it was just like a normal run to the outside.
Deck: Right.
N D: and I think he's going to be hesitant, and I think this is going to corral him a little bit. We'll slow him down. And him watching. Bajent. Keenum sit back there and. Find Odunze and find Loveland and...
N D: you know and burden I think that's He's got to be seeing that going. Man, those those three are studs, and I'm throwing it to... These three other guys.
N D: So... I don't know. i On paper. On TV. They look like a pretty damn good football team right now. for the in the NFC North.
angrymike: Yep. so let's So let's transition a little bit to that Bears -Jets game.
Deck: miss
angrymike: What were some of the positives and negatives you saw? And how are you feeling about coming into Green Bay next week?
N D: Positives out of the jets game. um The run game was strong, obviously, with Swift. fumbling that. I was very surprised that the... ah That the old doghouse came into effect really, really quick. um Obviously, he fumbled the week before. and um I have a feeling DeAndre Swift and...
N D: Ben Johnson have already met behind closed doors. and have talked about it. But. um Defensively, I like what they did yesterday. um You know, we're we're getting takeaways. we're yeah Obviously, it's Geno Smith. Obviously, they they were without their... their best running.
N D: running back and haul. But... Good teams find ways to win. and I was just. We got to quit the gambling.
N D: You know, that's the thing. It's like, yeah, you're going to get that. There's times when it was fourth and one. I'm like, oh, my God, we're going for it. and We made it. I'm like. God, when you. When you miss it, it kills you. It kills the momentum. But when you make it, man, you're just you're just driving. you're're you're flying But.
N D: Going in the Green Bay next week, I think. I don't think there's going to be overconfidence. I think Ben Johnson will reel that in a little bit. and I know i I told Chad last night, I think it was you, Chad. i Ben Johnson said at the end at at the end of his locker room speech.
N D: He said, You guys know what next week is. They're like, yeah. You know what next week is? Yep. All right. Enough said. And I've got Packer people on my ex going, that disrespectful SOB, he's going to eat his words.
angrymike: a
N D: And I'm like.
Deck: yes
N D: I don't. think he really said anything that You know, he didn't really go off on Green Bay in there, but. I think people are, it's it's a rivalry. I mean.
Deck: It's a rivalry. It's a great rivalry.
N D: It's going to be, yeah, it's going to be. Man, X is going to be fun just to watch.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: if i could just I wish I could just turn off my chatting and just watch, but I know I'm going to.
Deck: Wow.
N D: I know I'm gonna get sucked in a couple nights. While the Dodgers are getting beat or something, I'll be going on there.
Deck: That's why.
Deck: That's why I'm excited for this week because I just kind of get to sit back and listen to you two go after each other. So so let's go. Let's go.
angrymike: Yeah. Yeah, I'm
Deck: All right.
N D: it it'll It'll probably end up a shootout, Mike. Realistically, i mean i I think Jordan Love probably... Catches fire. And I think if. You know, is Caleb Williams? I don't think we're going to find out if Caleb is playing until Saturday.
N D: I don't think Ben Johnson is going to let that out. so Who do you prepare for? Do you prepare for the. you know, Case Keenum or Bajan, or do you prepare for Caleb Williams? I don't know
angrymike: i i think they I think they prepare for all three, but... But one way to prepare for all three is to plan to stop the run because, I mean. Your best chance to beat the Bears with Bajan or Case Keenum is to make them one -dimensional, and that's easier said than done, right?
N D: Yep.
angrymike: but I think that's that's the key every single time. It's boring to say that, but I don't know if Green Bay has the horses to. to get into a shootout at this point. I know the the offensive line yesterday looked a ton better.
angrymike: Am I necessarily scared of the Bears defense? No, I think Dennis Allen's a really good coach and can create pressure like he did last year in the playoffs. Um, I mean, if Greenback can... protect love i think they can keep this interesting but If the Bears come out and just start gashing the run and take over time of possession, i don't think I don't think Green Bay can keep up.
angrymike: Um, But... I've also been heavily favored before in games and watched Green Bay lose like the Browns or the Panthers. and You know, I said yesterday on X and got my ass handed to me a little bit.
N D: Okay. Okay.
angrymike: I go, when was the last time the Bears rolled in with a backup quarterback and was favored in Green Bay? And everyone's like, well, Green Bay's favored by three and a half. I go, well, that line's going to move. And it moved. And I think the Bears are now favored two and a half.
N D: Two and a half pounds.
angrymike: I think that's assuming. Bajan's the quarterback. So, I mean, how the mighty have fallen a little bit here. but Kind of like Jason from Friday to the 13th. He ain't dead yet.
Deck: Yes. Yeah.
angrymike: Right. You better double tap them. and And that's kind of where Green Bay is. People are writing them off. And Matt LaFleur is still. ah Pretty dang good offensive mind.
angrymike: And if Green Bay doesn't fumble twice and throw a pick in the red zone yesterday, I mean, know those are a lot of ifs, but. Caleb Johnson fumbling first and goal on the four. I mean, that's not on Matt LaFleur.
Deck: Right, right
angrymike: Um, And he got them down there quite a bit, and they just couldn't punch it away, and that's signs of a bad team. but I'm interested to see how this plays out, and I think a lot of Packer fans have given up, and I think they're not dead yet.
angrymike: So. it should be interesting
Deck: Plenty of seats. Plenty of season left. So yesterday's game, I couldn't. It wasn't on in my area, Mike, so I i didn't get to see any of it. So. Um, Beat in the box.
angrymike: Well, you're fortunate.
Deck: Yeah, 1714. I mean... Bucs were going down to score, weren't they, right at the end, and then they intercepted?
angrymike: No, they they were down there and Green Bay shut them down. um they
Deck: Did they okay?
angrymike: One thing about... Like Green Bay in the past, you know, they got up big on the Bears and then their defense would blow it. um Because Halfley and Joe Barry, those type of defenses are... Just.
angrymike: you know try to make you make a mistake you know methodically you're gonna have to go down the field every time That doesn't work with Gannon. Jonathan Gannon comes after you. And. he he had a He's using his safeties really well. Evan Williams had a great game yesterday. He actually had a sack on that final drive.
angrymike: Got Jalen Williams in the grasp where he threw it short. you know to end the game, Green Bay came after them instead of just sitting back waiting for something bad to happen. Um, So.
angrymike: A little bit different. way, um but It was offensive failures again, tons of penalties like normal, but when you're rotating so many injured. but You know, backups in for injured guys. I mean, you're going to have that stuff. But Green Bay at least looked like they stabilized a little bit.
N D: Did you lose a few more players yesterday?
angrymike: Oh, yeah. Adrian Cooper out for the season with an Achilles. he He had three sacks on the season thus far, had an interception in the game, was all over the place. I mean, he he was an emerging player and they lost him.
angrymike: And some would argue he's their... probably third best defensive player. and one of the elite guys they have and he's gone now too. So.
Deck: there
angrymike: uh parsons still isn't coming back he probably won't be back till november now um The defense is just depleted. But where they're still really good is those three safeties they got in Bullard and Evan Williams and Xavier McKinney.
angrymike: Both those guys are still pretty ball hawk guys.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: but
N D: And your rookie get hurt too?
angrymike: It's going to be... it's ah Yeah, Cissé got hurt. um He injured his neck, which, you know, with Green Bay, that's never a good thing. ah but also had a little bit of a concussion. So if he doesn't play...
angrymike: We're looking at Keyshawn Nixon and... valent Carrington Valentine again, you know, so. That ain't good either. So there's just a lot of injuries they're working through, but that's par for the course for Green Bay, it seems like.
Deck: Well, I tagged you on X yesterday, Mike, about Parsons. Was it a Packer fan that said that? Or no, who was it Rob? What's the Packer?
angrymike: Rob Domofsky or?
Deck: Yeah, did he say that Parsons might not play at all. is that Or did I read that wrong?
angrymike: No, I Yeah, I think that's i think that's kind of BS. I think with it would do it would do Parsons no good to sit out an entire year. So, but what they're doing is I think they're waiting.
angrymike: till he's fully comfortable and not rushing him back soon because you know why would you rush back soon for a team like this?
Deck: Right, right
angrymike: But I think he comes back probably the first week of November. But I know he really wanted to hit that Cowboys game. So it is possible he could return then, but likely it's probably going to end up being like week eight or week nine.
angrymike: And the way Green Bay is playing, the season may be over by then.
N D: Does he... Does he come back if you guys lose the next four, three, four games? or
Deck: that was That was my next question. Good question, Nolan.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: Thanks.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: i still i still think I still think he comes back because I don't think there's any benefit to him sitting out a full year. When he can come back. you know, and and play and and get re -acclimated and have a normal off season.
angrymike: um But. Are they going to be overly cautious with him? If he comes back and doesn't look like the same player, they may shut him down because what's the point, right? But. I think if you're a player, you want to put
Deck: I would think you'd want him to. Yeah.
angrymike: Yeah, if you're a player, you want to play, right? It's it's just the way it is.
Deck: and i I would say the same for Caleb Williams. If Nolan said he got hurt and he was able to come back, I think they'd put him out. I think they would do the same for Justin Jefferson. you know Say the Vikings were 0 -4. And he's out with a high ankle sprain. He wants to come back. I think as a player,
Deck: They want to come back and play. but it's good that he's It's good that he's saying, like, let's not rush him back too fast because then if he gets hurt again.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: and we're screwed. You know?
angrymike: Absolutely. i think I think it's pretty... You know, if if you're the Bears. and And maybe you dropped one of these games and you're sitting at 2 -2. I could see maybe bringing Caleb back for this game.
angrymike: but Why? right it's
Deck: Yeah, I don't think they'll need him.
angrymike: No, you're playing with house money.
Deck: So.
angrymike: You might as well make sure that.
Deck: Yep.
angrymike: that hamstring's good for the rest of the year. and And. you know, Play like you're going to be be competing for a Super Bowl. you know And the way the NFC looks right now, it's it's possible.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: Are you? It's possible. I mean, the Rams had to come back yesterday. They were dead to rights until that fourth quarter hit.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: And. There's no elite teams in the in the NFC right now, I don't think.
Deck: What?
N D: No.
Deck: I'd probably put the Niners.
angrymike: Maybe the Niners.
Deck: as's the team I'd put Niners as the team to beat right now.
angrymike: Yeah, maybe that iris.
Deck: Maybe the Seahawks too.
angrymike: Yeah, maybe. But they like. They lost Mike Evans, though, too. So, I mean, they're running with Debo Samuel.
Deck: And it's. true
angrymike: when You know, they didn't didn't exactly play good teams either.
N D: I've seen Mike Evans pick up. A few hits or a few catches at the end of the game yesterday. so
angrymike: Oh, he must have came back in then, because I i thought he...
N D: Yeah, he's playing through it, I know, but... Yeah. Sitting at 4 -0, obviously a big game next weekend, so he's not going to sit out against Seattle.
angrymike: yeah
Deck: yeah
N D: That same thing with Jefferson. I think Minnesota. Probably pulled the... ah pulled the trigger on ma or a moss on uh Jefferson to sit him.
Deck: Yep.
N D: Because it was the Miami Dolphins.
Deck: Yeah, yep.
N D: And I think.
angrymike: Yep.
N D: Going after that game, they're going. Whew! Oi!
Deck: They got lucky.
angrymike: I watched.
N D: we got We got lucky, we and we arrested Jefferson.
Deck: I would say that. i' Yep.
N D: You know, so.
angrymike: Man, I watched
N D: And will he be back next year or next week? so
angrymike: Yeah, well, Mike Evans, I mean, wishing him healthy is is a fool's game.
N D: That's like a hip injury.
angrymike: Yeah, it's a fool's game for him. He's hurt every year for some period of time. Um, But yeah, I mean, if... And man, Malik Willis, just watching him, how smooth he is now in the pocket, just maneuvering around.
angrymike: He he looked really good yesterday, I thought, despite having no weapons. But man, if that that receiver doesn't run out of bounds and that touchdown counts, man, I was interested to see how that game would turn a little bit against the Vikings.
N D: Ugh.
Deck: yeah
angrymike: but Man, that that was just a dagger to that team. Um, But. You know, they're playing for the first round for the first overall pick because they traded everybody.
angrymike: so
Deck: Thank you. Playing for a good old arch.
angrymike: They're in rebuild.
Deck: for trading for or playing for arch
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: So.
angrymike: Yep. He's called suck and Suck for Luck, right?
Deck: All right.
angrymike: now they're
Deck: Yeah. yeah
angrymike: I don't know what the Arch thing is, but I, I'm not huge on Arch Manning either.
Deck: look
angrymike: I had a conversation with, with, with somebody here early this morning and it's like. What has Arch Manning done in in college, you know, to to warrant? him being the second coming besides having the last name Manning.
N D: The last name.
angrymike: I.
Deck: Well, that would be what? That is what it is.
angrymike: Mm hmm.
Deck: That's about it. You know?
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: You know?
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: I wanted to ask Nolan, so. What was I going to ask you? I had something I was going to ask, you know, and now I just lost it.
N D: Uh oh. Rain freeze on a Monday morning. That's not a good thing.
Deck: You're telling me. you're telling It'll come back.
N D: But hey, for the picks over the weekend, we all were...
Deck: Good luck.
N D: We all nailed it except for i got the I picked the Buccaneers plus three and a half, so I got that one. but Every other pick we got right, right?
Deck: Wow.
N D: Bears, Vikings, Lions, yeah.
Deck: Yeah. Well, no. Nine's lost, right?
N D: all right yeah we lost well we ah we all lost on that one i guess i should say they had uh Lions three and a half.
Deck: Or did we do? Yeah. And I'm okay. I'm okay losing that one to you guys. I'm okay with that.
N D: Oh, I'm fine with that too.
Deck: Yeah, as so long as the Lions lose, that's okay.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: yep
N D: But we all knew, I listened back, and we all had the Green Bay -Tampa Bay game a close one.
angrymike: Oh yeah.
N D: so
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: Yeah, I think if I remember right, Mike, you had it 14 -10. What was it? 17 -14.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: That's pretty crazy.
angrymike: Yep. i didn't I didn't think it would be, you know. it Green Bay is still working through some things. I I'm really hoping Zeitler comes in this week and really stabilize. You can tell with Lake and Tomlinson coming in there, Jordan Morgan looked like a changed person. And that Tampa Bay line is.
angrymike: It's an okay line. Um... But I mean, Green Bay protected pretty well. um But I was surprised Todd Bowles didn't come after Love like all the other teams have. I think Dennis Allen's going to do that this week. You've got to prove that offensive line can hold up versus stunts and blitzes. Todd Bowles, who normally does all that stuff, he was Brian Flores before Brian Flores, and Todd Bowles didn't do any of it.
angrymike: I mean, he held Green Bay to 17 points, but still, I was really surprised they didn't try to. attack love a little bit more and knock him off his uh this spot But.
Deck: Well, this is the week. The Week.
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: So what are we going to do? We got some guests coming on this week. Is that what I'm being told?
angrymike: Yeah, I think we, well, we we have... ah A Bears guest. um You guys can talk about that a little bit. And I know on Friday we have Easton Butler coming in, who's a a Packer insider. who You know, he was in on the Parsons trade. ah he He called the Miles Garrett trade before it happened, and he's pretty well connected and a really good guy, and we're going to have him on Friday for the pod.
Deck: Okay. Then Thursday, Nolan, you got who?
N D: And. Yeah, Thursday morning. We're going to do three this week.
Deck: Oh boy.
N D: I have, if you go on X, it's under Believes in Chicago. And he's a. He joins a lot of podcasts, and I know his biggest thing lately has been the stadium deal. um All this stuff, he's been breaking stuff on that and saying this is that, you know. So. That may probably get brought up on Thursday a little bit.
N D: But I I've been saying from. Day one. And Chad kind of remembers me saying, I don't think we're leaving Illinois, but. Some days it looks promising. Some days it's like, nah, they are going to Indiana.
Deck: doesn that
N D: Dang it. So. I don't know. It'll be interesting. So he's going to come on Thursday morning. we'll I'll get more information. Hopefully he's able to. make the time slot that we're... that we choose.
Deck: Well, I'm going to be in Chicago next weekend, Nolan, so if you want me to drop the check off. for the new stadium in Chicago.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: You let me know. Just mail it to me now, and I'll ah i'll drop it at the front door for you.
N D: There you go.
N D: What are you doing in Chicago?
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: We're going to take a little weekend getaway with Sam and his little girlfriend. but
N D: Okay.
angrymike: Oh nice.
Deck: oh Yeah. Yeah, but I'm just... F - Cruise down there for the weekend.
N D: And the Bears are out of town.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: What the heck?
angrymike: And ah well, and I'll be I'll be traveling to. a little town called Green Bay here next weekend, and I'll be at the Packers game.
Deck: Amen.
angrymike: Um, Packers -Bears game, so I may go live there. Who knows? um
N D: Hey, yeah, that'd be awesome
angrymike: but I'll definitely send some good good photos and
Deck: Right on.
angrymike: You know, ah you may see me leaving at halftime. Who knows? I've only done that once in my 30 years of going to games.
Deck: See y 'all.
N D: ah
Deck: So. fit small
angrymike: but
Deck: I wanted to ask both of you.
N D: Well, Chad and I don't.
Deck: No.
N D: Chad and I don't go to games together anymore because ah we... we ah We go to sleepers, so.
Deck: Yeah. Yeah.
N D: We've weve decided to.
Deck: We just try not to.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: Yeah. They're not good. So I was going to ask you.
angrymike: what's What's crazy?
Deck: the The referee getting knocked over.
angrymike: Oh go ahead.
Deck: what did you I mean, he barely even got... pushed Did you see that? I mean... Or not.
N D: and the In the Viking game?
Deck: Yeah.
N D: i didn't I didn't see it. I just heard that. There was some words back and forth, and then I saw the one in Arizona where the actual referee was.
angrymike: Frey McBride.
N D: was actually, I mean, you could just see the words coming out of the referee's mouth.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: I'm like, whoa. eases
Deck: i
N D: I didn't see the Minnesota one.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: It's pretty weak. Pretty weak. I thought. But anyways, refs.
angrymike: again though Again, the refs are like offensive linemen, right? You only hear about them when they screw up.
Deck: specific Yeah.
angrymike: So. you know, just shut up and shut up and officiate the games.
Deck: There you go.
N D: Well, of course, when when those guys get knocked over, I mean.
Deck: Right, right.
angrymike: Right. That's basically what it is.
N D: They're in their 60s. Some of them are 50s and 60s running around. And some of those guys, I mean. one ah One of us gets knocked over in the sideline. I'm not getting up too quickly, and I'm probably going.
angrymike: no
N D: God dang it. Who just knocked me over?
Deck: Oh yeah.
N D: Cause now I'm hurting for the next five weeks. He might even be out of the, out of the game.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: But you also... But I'm also not going to walk into the middle of a construction site and wonder why a beam hit me. You know what I mean?
N D: ah
angrymike: It's like you're you're entering their work zone, so you have to keep your head on a swivel, right?
N D: Yeah.
Deck: That's great.
N D: That's true.
Deck: Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. And I will say. Final thought for me on the Vikes game. I know we're jumping around, but I had a buddy Brent there yesterday, and he said that was... the most quietest.
Deck: He's heard the fans in a long time. yeah the bo
angrymike: I heard some booing, booing there too.
Deck: The Boo Birds were out. They were out. Thank you. Their punter put them in.
angrymike: Four and a...
N D: Obviously.
Deck: Their punter put them in some bad situations as well. So usually we don't talk punters on podcasts.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: No. And I'll tell you, those minnesota those Minnesota fans didn't hear me talking about booing your team, obviously, on our podcast.
Deck: He had three in a row.
N D: cause
Deck: They had every right to boo that team yesterday.
N D: They did not listen to me.
Deck: They had every right to boo that team yesterday in the first half.
angrymike: yeah
N D: You don't boo your own, ah, whatever. I'm not going to get in an argument.
Deck: You're not going to get it.
angrymike: It is what it is. ask ask tucker Ask Tucker Kraft what he thinks about booing.
N D: No.
Deck: Yes.
N D: Yeah, I liked his interview after the game last night.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: at the homestead.
N D: Yeah, I got to work on my – I'm on the jugs machine. I'm trying to get better.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: It's like you are going to get booed because you're dropping touchdowns, you're dropping passes, and you were in the elite status to start the ball.
angrymike: Yeah.
angrymike: Oh. Yep.
N D: to start the year. So.
angrymike: Yeah, so today he's on pace.
N D: He's kind of turning into hell.
angrymike: He's on pace for like 550 yards and four touchdowns. I mean, when when when you pay a guy the amount that Green Bay paid him. Start playing like a damn all -pro player because that's what you're paid at and quit worrying about the fans booing you.
N D: Yep.
angrymike: If you suck, you deserve to be booed. Get past it.
Deck: It's okay to boo your team. If you're not happy with them, it's okay, Nolan.
angrymike: Yep. Yeah. All right guys, two more pods. Let's do it.
Deck: We're gonna do it We'll talk to you guys on Thursday.
N D: Alright.
angrymike: All right
Deck: All right, man. See you later.
angrymike: Have a great day.
N D: Bear down.
