Deck: Well, welcome back to NFC North of Sanity. and What a weekend for Packer and Bears fans. You know, ah big wins, big dreams. and And looking on X today, it looks like both fan bases are going to the Super Bowl.
Deck: So...
N D: ah and Yeah, in certain parts of the, we'll we'll talk about fan bases here in a second.
Deck: Yes.
N D: but
Deck: yeah I'm not done reading yet, buddy. You got to let me finish it.
N D: Oh, I'm sorry Okay, you got me riled already.
Deck: Yeah. So. What? There you go.
N D: Let's go. let's go
Deck: so Hey! Angry Mike, he just told me he was shopping on cheapo air for his plane tickets for Santa Clara because the Packers. are going to the Super Bowl. So.
angrymike: Oh, yeah, 100%.
Deck: Okay. How you doing today, Mike?
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: How you doing, brother?
angrymike: andm i'm doing I'm doing good. i think You know. Green Bay had a pretty dominant win. um I know it was the Cowboys, and their defense is terrible. but You know? What I'm encouraged about is is Green Bay came out.
angrymike: And. Could have scored a ton of points, but scored a decent amount of points. They had so many drops yesterday for Love. Love's love's box score looks a lot worse than how he actually played.
angrymike: Um, But, man, I'm really excited about that Packers defense holding the Cowboys, you know, who's a top -ten scoring offense. Pretty much out of the game the entire time. da look lost so i i'm encouraged by that especially with parsons you know coming back here in the next couple weeks so there's a lot to be excited about Especially with the Bears, too.
angrymike: The Bears look really good.
Deck: yeah
angrymike: yesterday too and i took a lot of heat for that too for what i posted prior to that game but What happened versus what I wanted to happen were two different things.
Deck: go
angrymike: But the the Bear fans definitely let me. Let me have it. So, Nolan, what were your thoughts on the Bears game yesterday?
Deck: Well, I was going to say there was some hate watching going on yesterday between the two teams, but... Just so you know.
angrymike: Oh yeah.
Deck: Nolan's already booked his He's booked his room for Santa Clara.
angrymike: Oh I figured that.
Deck: Sorry. Peace. Yeah, and he's got it he's worked in a business itinerary, so it so his radio station's paying for it.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: So.
angrymike: Well, the mo Motel 6, you know, and it's tough.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: They only got so many rooms, so you got to book that early.
Deck: That's right. You got to keep the light on for him.
N D: Now they got chopping. They got shopping carts and tents too. I can sleep with the best of them.
Deck: Yeah. Yeah, so So just so you know, my team's still undefeated. And I'm still undefeated and believing that next year is our year. So let's ah let's talk about your games here. so
N D: Well, I think we can officially say the
Deck: Fuck.
N D: All four NFC North teams probably clinched a playoff spot yesterday. With.
Deck: o
N D: With some very crappy play from... Other NFC teams. Philadelphia took a blow. Rams lost to I. Not sure how the Rams lost, but.
N D: Yeah, other than, you know, the top seven right now in the NFC, there is... Nothing to really brag about south of that number seven seed.
Deck: Yeah, well, Mike called the Rams. Mike was, you were on it, Mike, right from the beginning.
N D: Yep. Yep.
Deck: You were like, that team's not going to do well. So.
angrymike: Yeah, it's the dream team, right? I i forget what year it was. I don' think it was 2016 with the Eagles. Remember, they were supposed to win it all. and uh You know, they had Vince Young they brought on and all these exciting players and they missed the playoffs.
Deck: right
angrymike: And I'm just like, usually when you put a super team together, there's usually a ton of egos. And. Usually if you have a lot of high -priced guys like that, other areas have to suffer. And, man, the Rams special teams is just terrible.
angrymike: When you make the Packers special teams look elite, that's that's not good. so um um I don't hate to see it. And and Seattle struggling early too is is a gift for.
N D: Yep.
angrymike: the and All the entire... all the NFC North teams. So it's looking right now, it may only be one.
Deck: Right.
angrymike: one team making the playoffs from the West, which is surprising. So that's good for all NFC North teams right now.
Deck: Yep. Yep. All over 500. There is only one super team that's actually been able to like curb their egos and all that and that's us so i mean we're we're doing pretty well
N D: right
Deck: Thank you.
angrymike: who's ah Who's us again?
Deck: Me, you and no one.
angrymike: Oh, okay.
Deck: yeah The three of us.
angrymike: I thought you'd die.
N D: ah
angrymike: I thought you were talking about the Vikings.
N D: The three of us.
Deck: No, no, no.
angrymike: Oh, okay.
Deck: No, no, no.
angrymike: Okay.
Deck: no no no
N D: We know where the Vikings are going.
Deck: So...
N D: but
Deck: Oh God, shut up, Nolan.
N D: the make Well, the Vikings are getting helped out, so now the...
Deck: Shut up, Nolan.
N D: We can officially get into...
Deck: Getting help.
N D: Who's the first head coach going to be fired?
Deck: out.
N D: And it looks like the Colts might be on the verge of firing their head coach. But I want to talk a little bit about. Um, Post game. Speeches by coaches. I watched LeFleur's. Which wasn't bad. I watched Johnson.
N D: I was watching NFL Network and then all of a sudden. They said, oh, the Cleveland Browns won. They went to Todd Munkins post post -game. I don't know if you guys have seen it. but the The guy's not going to make anybody.
N D: run through a wall anytime soon.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: Boring. Boring or what?
N D: Yeah.
Deck: I wasn't able, yeah, okay.
N D: Todd Monk. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it was one of the, I mean, you've, I. I guess I haven't really even seen Kevin O 'Connell's postgame or pregame speeches, but. you know, with, with the floor and Johnson, there's fire there. There's, you know, And.
N D: Munkin was just like... o I don't know. I don't know how Cleveland's doing. I mean, there's some crappy divisions. There's NFC East. And then there's the AFC North. Those have to be probably the.
N D: Two of the crappiest divisions. in the NFL right now.
Deck: The AFC North, aren't all of them above... 500? I thought they were
N D: ah
Deck: Am I wrong? Pittsburgh.
N D: Well, I...
Deck: Okay.
N D: Cleveland Browns are leading it. That's what. I I'm kind of throwing the red flag up on Pittsburgh's nothing to brag about Baltimore. Has injuries. You know, once Lamar comes back, then maybe it might be a different story.
Deck: Well, yeah.
N D: but
Deck: I don't know. i don't know sofa
N D: I'm not a fan of the AFC North right now, I guess.
Deck: Okay, sounds good. Sounds good. so
angrymike: Yeah, there's a lot of pretenders, I think, in that in that division. but I think if... The NFC North, because, I mean, it's... I mean, when the Bears are 0 -2, right, obviously there's...
angrymike: Certain situations with their quarterback being out and such. but I mean... they're o and two in the division and they're one of the best teams in the nfc right now i think uh You know what I mean? So that just shows how tough the division is. And it's literally a.
angrymike: It's a gauntlet. Having to go through all these teams. I mean, Green Bay's got the Lions next week. And it's another big game, you know, it's just. every single week you got somebody tougher to play. So why don't we start with ah Atlanta and Chicago? So i I posted something that went viral and i and I'll be honest with you, I got hammered for it, which I deserved.
angrymike: Um, But I put no excuses now that Caleb's back when the the Falcons. Trash the Bears.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: ah
angrymike: And, of course, the Bears go up 14 -0 with like...
N D: a
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: five minutes into the game and then all of a sudden i'm just drowned it out with uh
Deck: Yep.
angrymike: With, uh... you know replies and such so Right towards the end of the game, I i posted a video of... Justin Fields. escape in like five sacks and i said this is me trying to avoid the blitz from bears fans
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: so um it was pretty funny but i mean overall the bears looked really good i thought maybe you know Ben Johnson pulled the starters a little too soon. Because...
N D: yeah
angrymike: Yes. 12 minutes there. quite a bit and then all of a sudden
N D: ah
angrymike: Atlanta the ball back down eight with four minutes left and of course Atlanta did Atlanta things but What did do you think of the game overall, Nolan?
N D: ah People are wondering if... People were thinking that Swift was still in the doghouse, but... You know, as as I was... I flip on X like halfway through the third quarter and they say Johnson's.
N D: resting players for Thursday while they're up big. And I started thinking like, well, it makes sense because Swift has been banged up with his hip and his knee. You've had other injuries. Um, Overall offense, I mean, obviously A -plus there. um Caleb didn't miss much.
N D: We're still missing Menungai, obviously.
angrymike: yep Yep.
N D: Once he gets back, I think that's going to be. A lot more run heavy than what we were. um I guess the big surprise for me was our defense. um I mean, I look i look overall. where' We're a top.
N D: seven or eight defense in the n nfl right now with you know only giving up just under 20 points a ball game. Yeah, our our turnover ratio is still negative, too. Everybody else is in the in the positive. but When you hold B. John Robinson to, was it 61 yards?
N D: And London doesn't do anything.
angrymike: yep
N D: I think that's a good day at the office for the defense. And that's without. Montez sweat in there. So... Now do the Bears have $21 million they can just figure out and cut him for next year and save $21 million?
angrymike: I would think so. i mean Gervin Dexter looked pretty damn good for for Atlanta.
N D: Yeah. Yeah.
angrymike: It would have been nice if you still had him.
N D: Oh yeah.
angrymike: but um
N D: It would have been nice.
angrymike: But yeah, I mean, Montez Sweat, I think... You know? i yeah i saw i think believes and i were going back and forth um and He goes, I don't know what steroids he's using, but they're. They're non -enhancing.
angrymike: drugs And I said, I go, maybe he's, maybe he's licking likegged lead paint.
N D: Ha, jeez. is
angrymike: and is what i said um but Um, But yeah, I don't think they're going to miss him next year if they end up cutting him. by any means.
N D: No.
angrymike: But, man, it really showed you what that Bears offense looks like with Caleb back in there, though.
N D: It.
angrymike: he
N D: It was a sigh of relief.
angrymike: It was a well run machine.
N D: when it went
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: Yeah, when we were up 14 -0, I was like. Wow, I mean, he he rolled out a couple times, but as I mentioned a couple weeks ago, maybe it might... kind of corral him a little bit. and He was more of a pocket passer. He he found a dunes a couple times.
N D: Two of his big throws to Odunze that went for 30, 40 yards were pulled back because of penalties. um Luther Burden had a good day.
angrymike: Yep.
N D: Loveland had a good day. Um, i just think overall I did have somebody go on and. and and post the Caleb Williams pass chart. And they said, Bo Nix, you're let off the hook now.
N D: And I just thought, you know, a quarterback just went for 300 yards. He was 30 of 36.
angrymike: yeah
N D: Why are we, I mean. Obviously, there's haters out there. I mean, we could do that with Jordan Love. We could do it with... with whoever else, but it's like.
angrymike: Oh. Yeah.
Deck: right
N D: Man, I think I'm going to be happy with. With. I think they had probably 10 screen passes. Yeah. I don't know. i I was happy with the offense. i mean we didn't need to take big shots because we were.
N D: nickel and diamond them with those passes. And I don't. I think Ben Johnson really needed to go out of his. game plan to say hey let's make the x people a little bit happy and throw a couple bombs like Jordan Love does.
N D: Did need to do that.
Deck: well i
N D: We controlled the game.
Deck: i don't I don't think Ben Johnson is listening to the fans on X saying we need him to throw for four.
angrymike: No.
Deck: 4 ,000 yards and all that stuff.
N D: No. No.
Deck: but I... yeah I figured he'd had come out and have a pretty good game. and i He had the game I thought he would. i tried to rage bait you a little bit yesterday no am i saying only 250 yards but you didn't bite so Um.
N D: Well, and that that would have been a a good game for him with, I mean. Usually we're rushing around 150. I think we got to 100 yards yesterday rushing.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: but it was i mean there was a lot of screen passes
Deck: Yep.
Deck: Got to get the guy so got get the guy some some confidence back.
N D: to Johnson and to Swift.
Deck: you know I mean, he was out for two and a half games.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: Do that, man.
N D: Yep.
Deck: No rust.
N D: I got a question for you, Mike.
Deck: That's good.
N D: I know i know we can we can obviously with the win, we'll we'll kind of move on to the Packers -Dallas game a little bit.
angrymike: yep
N D: Um, Just looking at the Okay, you've got... Two of the top wide receivers, obviously Golden. And Watson. Drop some big balls. Uh, Golden did.
angrymike: Oh, man, Golden golden would have had 200 yards and three touchdowns if he just would have caught the ball.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: And that pass that... You know, Jordan Love was under pressure and just threw a perfect bomb to him and just fell right in his arms. It kind of reminded me of Christian Watson's rookie year when...
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: They went deep on the first play of the game and he dropped it in Minnesota. You know, Rogers threw him a perfect ball and he dropped it.
Deck: I remember that.
N D: Yep.
Deck: Yeah. Bella.
angrymike: It reminded me of that a little bit, but it didn't come back to haunt Green Bay at all. But man, he would have.
N D: But you...
angrymike: but outstanding.
N D: But you did have a couple, five catches by your running back, which. Down the road, you need you need that rushing game. You need some screen passes. Green Bay saw that a little bit more.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: But are you worried at all with, obviously, With Golden and Watson. And craft, craft. Still having some. slow games here as well.
angrymike: mm -hmm
N D: That's three targets. You look at these other teams. I mean, the bears have. Seven, eight guys that are catching passes. Are you worried that down the road? You're going to have two stud corners. That could take those two out.
N D: Is there going to be a third or fourth wide receiver that. I know Williams.
angrymike: Yep.
N D: He had a couple catches last night.
angrymike: Mhm.
N D: Are you worried that... Boy, you shut those two down. Could this... you know, slow this ah offense down big time.
angrymike: It could. I mean, if if Christian Watson goes out and... gets injured, which is common for him. I mean, Yeah, I think they'd struggle to have. a third option. And really those.
angrymike: Really, those are the top two options with Kraft as a distant third right now. But I kind of like what I saw with Sabian Williams yesterday. He had two huge catches on that first drive. And what's crazy about that first drive is... because of the running game was so bad.
angrymike: Jordan Love had 109 yards passing on that first drive because they kept losing yardage and he kept having to throw for more yards.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: So. I mean, that's nuts, but Savion Williams had a couple big catches to keep the that drive going, so I think he has the talent. But he is a second -year guy, and, you know, you've got to take those guys – you have to be a little patient. but it's hard to teach six four four four speed you know and he's he's got it it's just getting him reacclimated to the offense. But yeah, I think that could be definitely be a problem.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: um because the run game is non -existent right now. and um There's rumors Josh Jacobs is going to be back next week, but you know we'll have to see what shape he's in too.
Deck: Well, you gotta give Jacobs.
angrymike: um
Deck: Do you think he could come back next week? I don't think he's – would he be in playing shape? I mean, I know they say, oh, I've been working out and I've been doing this and I'm blah, blah, blah.
angrymike: I wouldn't think so
Deck: Usually it's those guys that come back and – you know all of a sudden hamstring goes or they hurt their knee or you know just little
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: tugs and nicks and all that sort of thing. and But boom. but yeah
angrymike: Yeah. i think he'll I think they're going to play him next week, but I don't think he's going to be a full load type back.
Deck: Okay.
angrymike: I think it'll be more like let's reacclimate him to the offense. Marshawn Lloyd, I'm... he's I'm done with him. I don't think he's don't think he's good at all.
Deck: picture
angrymike: He dances too much in the pocket.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: Or when he sees a hole, he kind of dances a little bit and then hits it and gets it for a loss. but There was no room to run yesterday, and and Dallas is the worst. running defense in the NFL. So if Green Bay was going to get right, I think it would have been versus that team.
angrymike: ah But. You know, we'll we'll just have to see. You can't really plan for injuries. They already lost Jaden Reed, which was a huge loss. and lost a lot of their depth but I kind of like what I see in J. Michael Sturdivant as well, but no doubt if one of those top receivers get hurt, that offense is going to be.
angrymike: slowed down quite a bit.
N D: But to even looking at that love, I mean, you saw what.
Deck: Submit.
N D: it did to the bears i mean Do you have a ah backup that could come in and... Ride the ship for two weeks. You know?
angrymike: Ugh.
N D: All right. But injuries are a part.
angrymike: From a receiver?
N D: Well, just...
Deck: For about a quarter.
angrymike: from a receiver standpoint or?
Deck: Back point or receiver? Yeah, what do you...
N D: yeah But as a quarterback, I mean, yeah. Every every team has won. quarterback away, injury away from.
angrymike: Yep.
N D: being done. You look at Philadelphia, who was struggling anyways. That team who is in a crappy division right now has probably just. J .J. McCarthy is going to lead the Giants to the promised land.
N D: In New York.
Deck: i I knew you were going to bring that i knew you're going to bring that crap up.
N D: it
angrymike: Oh man, that'd be funny if you did.
N D: ah
angrymike: Oh. Oh.
N D: Well, yeah, I got him on my keeper league.
Deck: Anyways. anyways well
N D: is his trade His trade value just went up after that nice drive.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: and I know he threw an interception, though.
Deck: bonus.
N D: but
Deck: and Yeah.
angrymike: Well, he's already thrown for more yards in any game than Kyler Murray has, right? Isn't isn't that the joke?
Deck: That's the garbage.
angrymike: Right now?
Deck: Garbage time is good, man. You can get a lot of yards in garbage time.
N D: I don't know if it was garbage time.
Deck: so
N D: It was comeback time for McCarthy.
Deck: Well, same thing.
N D: I mean, let them back to almost a win.
Deck: It's the prevent defense. It prevents you from winning.
N D: ah Yeah.
Deck: Anyways. Anyways. Anyways.
angrymike: Yeah. i
Deck: anyways
angrymike: So Green Bay, I mean, yeah, I think their offense scored enough. They could have scored 50 points if they would have caught. the ball's thrown to the receivers right in their arms.
N D: Right.
angrymike: But I was more impressed with the Packer defense. I thought. holding really the Cowboys. to seven points really most of the game. I thought... Dallas had no answer to.
angrymike: to Green Bay. and And man, Evan Williams played an outstanding game yesterday. And I think a lot of people are starting to realize just how good that kid is.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: Um.
N D: I was unimpressed with that Dallas. I mean, Dak Prescott looked, he's 33 years old. He looked like he was about 40.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: I mean... His throws, it looked like he was throwing a 50 -yarder, but he was putting that much.
angrymike: Yep.
N D: oomph into it for a 15 -yarder. and He threw that pick that CD lamb fell down on. And then he threw that one right to. Right up the middle of the field, it's just like. I have no idea what Dak was doing last night, but.
angrymike: Oh man, that pick.
N D: He did not bring his A game.
angrymike: Yeah, that second that second non -CD lamb slip. Um, And that Brandon Cisse got his first interception.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: What a gift that one was, right?
N D: Yep. Yep. yep
angrymike: But man, Evan Williams looked like he was going to blitz from the right side and didn't. just backpedaled. back to the middle of the field because Dak didn't even see him. He thought he was going to be a rusher. And Evan Williams just went back and laid it right in the middle of the field and just picked him off. I mean, it was an outstanding play. And Jonathan Gannon really... Man, I liked Jeff Halfley last year.
angrymike: I thought he had a good... good you know, two years in green bay but man jonathan gannon dude he's He's making this team look really good. And once Parsons gets back.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: This team's going to. I think the defense is going to take off as long as they don't lose any more players. That's the big thing.
N D: One huge... He will have his work cut out for him next week. That's for sure.
angrymike: Oh, no doubt.
Deck: Yes, he will.
angrymike: I mean, versus the Lions, man, they're going to score a ton of points.
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: but Green Bay's beat them the last two times, but.
N D: That game's definitely an over, that's for sure.
angrymike: They also had Parsons, but...
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: Oh yeah. Man, I thought this one was. I thought this was free eats, man. for The over and... I thought Love was going to have 303 scores, and he would have if they would have caught the damn ball.
N D: Yep.
angrymike: but
N D: Heh.
angrymike: Um, it was ah It wasn't the game we thought it was going to be last night, but it was still, in my eyes, a pretty fun game to watch.
Deck: well Every time your team wins, it's a fun game to watch. So eBenefits.
angrymike: Oh yeah.
Deck: Even if it's 9 -3.
angrymike: It was. It wasn't as fun as the previous week.
Deck: you know but Yeah.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: I could only imagine.
angrymike: This one was fun. I hate the Cowboys, and I think we all do.
Deck: Good job. Yeah.
angrymike: um
N D: Yep.
angrymike: because they're forced down our throat. Even if they suck, they're on. They're on TV every freaking week.
Deck: They are.
angrymike: We're forced to watch them.
Deck: They are.
angrymike: um they're
Deck: they about them all the time on espn and all over the place that's all you ever hear about
angrymike: Yep. theyre the not or They're the Notre Dame of the NFL.
Deck: Yes.
angrymike: They suck or not, you're forced to watch them. Um, But yeah, I... I think the NFC North is wide open still. I think Minnesota. could have a couple hiccups, and the rest of the North is really good to... be able to capitalize on it. But I think the Bears are back with Caleb Williams, I think.
angrymike: He looked phenomenal. last week.
Deck: So do you think Jacobs makes a difference for your Packers, Mike? And I know... I don't think... You're kind of on the fence about bringing them back or are you full on the fence don't bring them back?
angrymike: Yeah. i You know, i'm i made ah I made a post that had like 500 ,000 impressions.
Deck: I saw that. I know that.
angrymike: On Saturday. And I didn't think it was really going to be that controversial.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: I just said it wouldn't bother me if he never played for the Packers again.
Deck: Right.
angrymike: And that's all I said.
Deck: Right.
angrymike: It wouldn't bother me if he never played for the Packers again.
Deck: right
angrymike: And man, I got called righteous and...
Deck: oh yeah nothing
angrymike: morally this and morally that.
Deck: if
angrymike: And I'm like,
Deck: All right.
angrymike: Oh, I don't.
Deck: saw those and I was like, Alright.
angrymike: got It's like I didn't I go, I'm not trying to be righteous here or make myself. think that I'm better than anybody else but It's... You know? Green Bay.
angrymike: you know, tends to, when players have any issues like that, they tend to let them go right away. You know, Mark Chimura. Way back in the 70s, you had James Lofton and Eddie Lee Ivory. you know they were They ended up not getting convicted of anything. but Green Bay just didn't want to be associated with anything like that.
angrymike: so
Deck: right
angrymike: But. We haven't seen the video. I don't i don't know. You know, he played no contest to battery.
Deck: I think we'll see the video. yeah
angrymike: Yeah, he played no contested battery, and I know Josh Jacobs has been a pretty good teammate. um you know, so Who knows? Who am I to judge? but I just know if there's anything like that, I've i've made mistakes just like you guys have. but What he did wasn't anything I've ever been.
angrymike: even in the
N D: right
angrymike: conversation about so
Deck: Right. Right.
angrymike: Um, But man, I got hammered for it. And you know what? I hope he comes back. I hope he plays well. I hope he learns from whatever he did. and And, you know, we're fans first. so
Deck: Yeah. Yep.
angrymike: I look at it from that standpoint.
Deck: Oh! We just try to be a better human every day. That's all you can really. all you can really do is sell.
angrymike: Yeah. 100%.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: Getting back to your question, I think if they can ease Jacobs into it and not just throw him out there for 25 carries, even though they may be... They may want to because the run game, I mean, when you have.
Deck: Dude, that run game is...
angrymike: 57, when you have 26 rushes for 57 yards um at a 2 -2 average.
Deck: It's more.
angrymike: and no chance of anything.
Deck: That's terrible. Yeah.
angrymike: It's.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: jordan Jordan Love was their second. you know, leading Russia with 12 yards. so It's bad. They may be tempted to do it, but I think they should ease him back in the next couple weeks. And yeah, I think he can make a difference. He can at least miss a tackle.
angrymike: And he did that against the Bears last year, you know. You think he's dead to rights and he gets six yards. Um, they need they need him back they they obviously do if they have aspirations of winning a Super Bowl.
Deck: Yeah. So.
angrymike: or ah Or a division first, I should say.
Deck: Division or making the playoffs, yeah. So I did read today that they're thinking that Micah's not going to be back until after the bye week. Have you heard that? So that would be good news for Vikings fans as he wouldn't play them.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: It...
angrymike: I didn't hear that. he came He came out and said he'll be back sooner than later.
Deck: Okay.
angrymike: I think he posted on Instagram.
Deck: Did it okay?
angrymike: Um, I've heard rumors it could possibly be the Patriot game, but... Who knows? He isn't cleared to practice yet. So and until he does that, and we'll find that out tomorrow.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: I think he's going to need probably at least two weeks of ramp up time.
Deck: yeah
angrymike: and if it's three then You may see him versus the Vikings, which I would love to see.
Deck: yeah How bad do you think he wanted out on that field last night? Do you think he really cared or not?
angrymike: Oh. Yeah.
Deck: Let me do it.
angrymike: Oh.
Deck: oh
angrymike: Of course he does. I think he wants to stick it to Jerry Jones whenever he can.
Deck: Yeah, okay.
angrymike: i mean Jerry Jones, man, I don't know how Cowboy fans can still stand behind him like he's knows what he's doing i mean he's proven time and time again that. the 90s was a fluke and He lucked into a couple of good players in the 2010s.
angrymike: But. man overall he just can't build a team that can sustain winning.
Deck: Well, then... the 90 Cowboys Super Bowls are asterisks for Minnesota fans because so that's, so yeah, those are mine.
angrymike: Oh, yeah. Yeah, those are your titles. Those are your titles because they were your picks.
Deck: Yeah. So I'm good. I'm good. We've won many a times. Um... All right, so, yeah, Lions this week. Worried? Not worried? What do you think?
angrymike: Oh, I'm always worried. um I think, especially playing at Ford Field. it's it's a little bit different. And I think the reason Green Bay beat them last year. Was Parsons Parsons just ate up Penny Sewell last year.
angrymike: And i don't I don't think they have a rusher that can do that. I know LVN's having a pretty good year, but... I don't think they have anybody that can get pressure on golf, and that's the way you beat them. I think Green Bay yesterday only had one sack.
angrymike: They had a lot of interceptions, but... If you let golf sit back there, a golf can pick you apart. um So. Do I feel good about it? Do I think they have a chance? Yeah. Do I think they're going to win? No. I don't don't think they are, but I think it's going to be a close game. It'll probably be within seven points, probably.
N D: Well, we mentioned it probably.
angrymike: But. We'll see.
N D: should be an over but It might end up like last night's game too.
angrymike: Yeah, you never know.
N D: So. Never at know.
angrymike: You never know. i mean You may have Packers receivers drop. Three more touchdowns. Who knows?
N D: yeah
angrymike: Right.
N D: Yep.
angrymike: It could happen, but I wouldn't bet. for it, but... You know? We'll see. I mean, the Lions are an explosive team. They can't cover anybody. so
Deck: Does the knee take a router come back this week or is he still?
angrymike: Um,
Deck: Is he still riding the bench?
angrymike: Who was that?
Deck: Uh...
angrymike: Sorry.
Deck: Branch, the guy from... Detroit that takes out everybody's knees.
angrymike: Yeah, I don't know.
Deck: I think he's back this week.
angrymike: No, that's Kirby Joseph, I think.
N D: What, Joseph?
Deck: Bon jour, Sophia.
angrymike: You talk about the the the need, yeah, the...
N D: Yeah, Kirby Joseph.
Deck: Yeah yeah. Yeah, sorry, I was thinking the wrong guy.
angrymike: yeah the
Deck: Thinking the wrong guy.
angrymike: Yeah. Yeah, the tight end crippler is what they used to call him.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: Yep.
Deck: yeah
angrymike: Yeah, I don't think he's playing this year, but Brian Branch may be back.
Deck: Yeah. right
angrymike: If he is, that'd be a big boost to their secondary because their secondary right now is just straight trash.
Deck: right just terrible Terrible.
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: so All right. Well, Nolan's Bears, you got the Patriots at home. How are you feeling?
N D: Yeah, that's on Thursday night. um
Deck: Yeah. Quick turnaround.
N D: Home. Yep, a little home cooking. Yeah, I hate those quick turnarounds, but New England's in the same boat.
angrymike: Yep.
N D: I know they did lose three. offensive lineman yesterday, if I'm not mistaken, against the Jets. so If you're feeling... Trying to patch up an offensive line and the Bears defense is starting to roll a little bit.
N D: um you know, they brought back Kyler Gordon and everybody was pissed at Kyler Gordon and everyone's like that piece of trash. You don't need to be on this team. And now they're crowning him the defensive MVP for the season. So.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: After one game.
angrymike: I saw that.
N D: had had Had a hell of a game.
angrymike: I saw that.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: well i mean Had a strip sack at the end.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: and Um, I... You know, I think the Bears will be fine against New England at home. Just the fact that the defense is. playing well and ah Caleb under the lights on a Thursday night.
N D: I think they're just going to open things up a little bit more. and It's going to be fun. I mean, it it could end up. a shootout it could end up a 10 -6 ball game i hope not i hate those type of games but It would be nice to.
N D: Put some points on the board, shut down New England. and you know Go to five and two and then rest for 10 days before that next game.
angrymike: Yep. Do we know if A .J. Brown's going to be back for this game? I heard they... they,
N D: He is. I think he just
angrymike: brought him off of ir but
Deck: Yep.
N D: Yeah, he played yesterday and got like three catches.
Deck: He played yesterday.
angrymike: oh Oh, okay.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: He got like three catches, so.
Deck: Yep, easy.
angrymike: Okay.
N D: and We'll see.
Deck: I don't know. I've never been. He's okay. I don't think he's like... He's not C .D. Lamb, just Jefferson territory, is he? Or do you think he is?
angrymike: No I don't I don't think he is, but I think he adds like a...
Deck: I don't think he is.
angrymike: a vertical threat. you know because that that hopes that that helps Romeo Dobbs and some of those other players.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: he's Yeah, he's a big wide receiver.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: Travion Henderson's a really good running back, so I think. you know, that opens it up. for him too, but Drake Mays.
Deck: Yeah. Yeah.
angrymike: been been great i mean so i You know, I'm
Deck: Starting.
angrymike: It should be fun.
Deck: Yeah, started slow, coming on strong now. So it'll be a good game. So, and then bye.
N D: So the Colt
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: My Colts?
N D: The Colts? Yeah.
angrymike: Peace.
N D: Oh, you're Colts?
Deck: They're going.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: Who do you want from the Colts? Who are you going to trade for? Everybody's available. It's said today. So.
angrymike: Oh, my God. Jonathan Taylor.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: get him on Green Bay's team.
Deck: so
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: and
Deck: yep
angrymike: whatever left tackle they got.
Deck: Well...
angrymike: Give us him too. I...
N D: Yeah.
angrymike: I... Yeah, offensive linemen and... DeForest Buckner. I mean, that guy's just a...
N D: Yeah, Buckner, his post.
angrymike: Freaking stud.
N D: Full scheme, I would think he'd have been traded by noon today, but... Um,
angrymike: The problem is they fire their GM.
N D: you
angrymike: They have nobody to trade him.
Deck: Thank you very much.
N D: Well, yeah, that's true.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: Ah.
Deck: The interim GM is coming in, and so there's... You know, you read X and he's coming to the Vikings. Taylor's coming to the Vikings. Taylor's going to the Packers. I haven't seen to the Bears yet.
Deck: No, I'm sorry. I haven't seen that yet.
N D: Oh, yeah, we're fine on the running game, yeah.
Deck: but
angrymike: Oh, they don't need them. Yeah, they don't need them. Green Bay does.
Deck: They don't need it. Yeah.
angrymike: Vikings.
N D: But Herbert was... Herbert was supposed to be going to Minnesota like six weeks ago.
angrymike: Go ahead.
N D: so
Deck: we don't
N D: But the Chargers and the Colts, I don't know if they're going to do a full sale. Arizona kind of did. But... I don't know. I don't see Taylor going anywhere. i They got to get a quarterback. I know that. but
Deck: So who would you who would you take, Nolan? If you could trade for anybody today, who would it be? You can get anybody in the NFL. For your Bears.
N D: Oh, I gotta think about that.
Deck: All right. Mike, who do you want? You can pick whoever you want.
angrymike: If I could pick anybody from...
Deck: Any team.
angrymike: for the... Oh my God.
Deck: Any team.
angrymike: Any team.
Deck: i Would take Taylor I'd take Taylor Earth. Maybe even Barkley right now. Get Barkley from Philly because... With Hertz being out for the year, they're not going anywhere anytime soon.
N D: um' No, and Barkley's hurt, though. I think Barkley's out, isn't he?
Deck: Yeah. Yeah.
angrymike: Yeah, he's banged up.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: Jonathan Taylor, I think, would make a huge impact for for Green Bay. Sauce Gardner would be another one, too. but you know Chris Ballard just traded everybody away and then made bad picks with like Anthony Richardson.
angrymike: and
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: He's just... trade away a couple first rounders for sauce gardner that wasn't an impact player and it just
Deck: okay
N D: No.
Deck: Whatever.
angrymike: Yeah, it's just a bunch of errors he's made.
Deck: One of the first... podcast no one i ever did before we had you on mike we were talking about richardson and the colts Do you remember that, Nolan?
N D: Doh. we Yeah, we didn't talk about him very long. but
Deck: No.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: we just thought it was a We kind of thought that was a wasted pick.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: Waste and pick.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: Yep.
angrymike: Yeah, he's deep.
Deck: but
angrymike: He's ultra athletic, but a lot of those quarterbacks just don't pan out. They're going to have to be able to throw too, right?
Deck: yeah well And then there's You know, I was on the Vikings for that. signing daniel jones and he's turned out to be who we thought he was you know
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: God.
angrymike: Yep. yep
Deck: Who's that guy in Seattle that the Vikings used to have? Can't remember his name.
angrymike: Sam Darnold.
Deck: yeah Yeah, yeah, Sam. Sam. He was the greatest quarterback ever. Now he's what?
angrymike: I only won him a Super Bowl.
N D: Well, and then.
Deck: Well, yeah.
angrymike: Do you want him a Super Bowl?
N D: What about the
Deck: Thanks to his defense.
N D: What about the minute? What about the Minneapolis Miracle?
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: Who who was that? Was that Case Keenum, the Bears' savior?
Deck: That was, that was.
angrymike: Yeah, KS Keenum.
Deck: That was stuff that was Stefan digs Nolan.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: Yeah.
N D: the We're talking quarterbacks here.
angrymike: Yeah, that was against the Saints.
Deck: I have...
N D: He was the one that... He threw the touchdown.
Deck: Who's the one that caught it He threw a freaking duck and...
N D: Digs.
Deck: The guy from New Orleans.
N D: Hey. Case Keenum was not the problem in Minnesota.
Deck: I don't...
N D: Sam Darnold was not the problem. Kirk cousins was not the problem.
Deck: So what's the problem?
N D: Minnesota. The GMs or whoever they're in charge of.
Deck: Yeah. Yeah.
N D: analyzing quarterbacks.
Deck: this You're such a pot.
N D: You got to pay your quarterback. You got to pay your quarterback. You can't go off of, hey, let's hand the ball to. Kyler Murray for... And have this.
N D: Big defense, number one, number two in the league. You can't waste a defense like that, and right now they're doing that. in Minnesota.
Deck: ah No, there isn't.
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: They're 5 -0. How are they wasting it?
N D: You haven't played anybody other than the Bears and Packers you squeaked by.
Deck: Oh, yeah. The Packers. its how Yeah, we haven't played anybody.
N D: Yeah, yeah.
Deck: I'll get it.
N D: Those were two fluky wins. Two fluky wins.
angrymike: ah
N D: you're you're You're going to lose six in a row coming up after probably Indy now.
Deck: This... update Okay, so now it was first it was eight in a row not that it was now we're going down to six so I
N D: No I said seven. I said seven. No, I'll stay with the Colts. Colts are going to have some resurgence this weekend, and they're going to win this weekend.
Deck: welcome Oh, God.
N D: I don't know where the game's at.
Deck: you's Yeah.
N D: but
Deck: You're just terrible. You're a terrible. you're a Terrible fan, Nolan. I'm just gonna say that. You know that.
N D: I'm not a fan of the Vikings, so I can do that.
Deck: I don't know. yeah
N D: It's like last night we were talking before we went on and. We were saying that. You said I did not want the Cowboys to win. Neither did I. And Mike sure as hell wasn't hoping the Bears would win against Atlanta.
angrymike: No.
N D: we're not going to We're not going to cheer for anybody else's team.
Deck: ah
N D: But. At the end of the day.
Deck: up
N D: The best teams are winning. You're going to have. four NFC North teams vying for some playoff spots. I don't know. i am I'm not sold on Minnesota.
Deck: Let's go.
N D: I'm still not sold. I know they're 5 -0. I know they're 5 -0. But I'm just not sold on Minnesota. And I don't think I ever will be because I dislike Minnesota Vikings.
Deck: Okay, so say they Say they come out and trash the c Colts 40 to nothing.
N D: There I said it
Deck: Are you on Minnesota side? And you say, ah, it's just the Colts.
N D: No. It was just about. Well, look out.
Deck: Hey listen!
N D: Look at the Colts.
Deck: This is the Colts. Okay, so then they go on to Detroit the following week and they beat the Lions.
N D: You won't beat the Lions.
Deck: 17th. 17 to 13 so say they do 17 to 13 then what do you say oh it's just an inner division Yeah, yeah.
N D: You won't beat the Lions.
N D: mouth You're not going to beat Detroit.
Deck: yeah yeah yeah Yeah, yeah.
N D: I don't have to worry about what I say.
Deck: See?
N D: ah
Deck: See? zip I can admit that the Bears are looking good.
angrymike: facilitat magic
Deck: I can admit that the Packers are looking good. I don't think the Packers have a very good running game right now, and that's probably the number one thing they've got to fix. is they got to be able to run the ball.
N D: But... But remember, Chad, I said your defense. is Top notch. It's elite. I'm saying that.
Deck: Yeah. yeah
N D: as As a team. You're not a good football team. Offensively, you're not a good football team.
Deck: Yet. They're turning the corner. You watch. You watch. No. Notice Mike's quiet here.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: He's letting the...
N D: ah
angrymike: Yeah, I'm just letting you guys.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: Fight it out.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: ah
Deck: I... There's a reason There's a reason they play the games, buddy. And that's.
N D: It is.
angrymike: Yep.
N D: and It is.
Deck: Yeah. and
N D: And you know what the crazy thing is? We all get our opinions. And sometimes they blow up in our face.
Deck: This is true
N D: Sometimes we come back and go, yeah, I remember what you said last week.
Deck: Yeah, I'm all for it.
N D: You know?
Deck: I'm ready.
N D: Come around eight weeks, you know, week number eight, you better be going, God dang, Nolan, you were right.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: ye
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: winning winning Winning isn't a beauty contest, right?
Deck: No, I know I know
N D: Yep.
angrymike: it It doesn't matter. Ugly wins happen all the time.
Deck: It's solid. If... if The Vikings aren't going to lose eight in a row. You're a clown.
Deck: Because...
angrymike: Man, he got under your skin.
Deck: Yeah, I mean...
N D: Oh, you did?
angrymike: Chad, that's the best part.
N D: Yeah.
Deck: it. It takes a while, but you did.
N D: and and and And the funny thing, it does not take long, but the funny thing is.
Deck: I'm like, man. Yeah. yeah
N D: Chad keeps going, well. What if they win here? and What if they win here?
Deck: Well, because they play the games for a reason. I'm not saying they're going to win, but their chances of winning are good.
N D: Exactly.
Deck: give mur He's going to get better every week.
N D: Okay, Chad.
Deck: He's learning this offense a little bit more.
N D: you You tell me honestly. Do you think the Minnesota Vikings can be the one seed?
Deck: Yes.
N D: in the NFC.
Deck: I don't think
N D: With the team they have right now.
Deck: I don't think any nfc team NFC North team could be the one seed right now. because they will beat each other up. So that's saying,
angrymike: yep
Deck: between the Packers, the Lions, the Bears, and the Vikings. No. No four of those teams are going to win the Super Bowl. because they're going to just beat each other to a pulp. is what they will do. And it's going to be San Fran.
Deck: or it's going to be whoever it's not going to be
N D: What Stan Fran and Seattle and Rams are all going to beat the crap out of each other because.
Deck: Nah!
N D: it
Deck: Seattle's And and i'm going i'm I'm in my shoes now. I think the Rams are just done. I think Stafford's... old and just you know Like you said, Dak Prescott was old. I think. Stafford sold.
Deck: right I don't...
angrymike: I just think it's funny how winning makes you look young and losing makes you look old, right?
Deck: No. Amen.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: So Stafford last year was the MVP of the league.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: I mean, it. This year he's not.
Deck: Yeah.
angrymike: you know
Deck: Well, I don't really think it was the MVP last year either.
angrymike: I don't know if he will.
Deck: I think there were other players that had better game. I don't. you know it's it's a popularity contest but No, no, I don't think the Vikings are the number one seed.
angrymike: Yeah.
Deck: I don't think the Bears are a number one. See you.
Deck: to answer your question.
angrymike: So let's get back to our picks when I picked Arizona when i picked arizona to win.
Deck: They're Take off.
angrymike: let's Let's talk about that.
Deck: <unk>
angrymike: I'm just kidding. So we're going to meet later this week.
Deck: yes but Yeah.
angrymike: We're going to talk about...
Deck: no
angrymike: the games over the weekend.
Deck: i want let's comeback I want to hear Nolan's comeback. He's been quiet.
N D: ah for
Deck: What's going on there Dixie?
N D: I don't have a comeback. i You know how I feel.
Deck: Yeah.
N D: You know how I feel.
Deck: so Do you think? Do you think the Bears... kid. Get the number one seed.
N D: I think the Bears can. I think. The Packers could. I think those two teams. Hell. We pick. Detroit to win the division. If they shore up their defense at all. Sitting at three and two.
N D: They could get better at defense.
angrymike: Yeah.
N D: They could be a problem. We picked them to win the division at the beginning of the season with that offense. they are They're the top scoring defense or offense in this NFC North right now.
angrymike: Yep.
N D: We counted them out last week because. we hate We don't like the Detroit. Lions.
Deck: right
N D: But. if you dig deeper they're sitting at three and two right now If they do enough to fix that defense, because right now they're, what, 31st or 32nd in the league. and whatever it is. Bears have gotten better over the last couple of weeks. The Packers have gotten better over the last couple of weeks.
N D: In the NFL, it only takes a couple weeks to turn your season around. And if you're still lingering around the 500 mark or three and two.
angrymike: Yep.
N D: And I get it. Vikings are 5 -0, like Mike said a couple weeks ago. They can go. Six and... five the rest of the way or five and whatever and still make the playoffs. But.
N D: What? But losing losing streaks, losing streaks.
Deck: there's no no but
N D: we We're going to be, we're going to.
Deck: You see? You're...
N D: Start tabulating him, starting... Yeah. Anyways.
Deck: Alright. All right.
N D: i I think those two teams have a chance at the number one seat. I really do. Because San Francisco. Man, they're they're banged up. I mean... they They lost Debo.
Deck: Everybody's banged up.
N D: Why the iron?
Deck: Everybody's banged up.
N D: Yeah, but our guys are playing. Deebo Samuels out. Mike Evans is one hit away from being done for. Three, four weeks. I know he's going to try to go every week. but You know. McCaffrey's banged up. He's always banged up for the last few years.
N D: That San Francisco team, the only healthy guy on there is Brock Purdy, and if he goes down... there goes that whole division. And now all of a sudden you're looking at the NFC North because NFC East isn't going to send anybody that's going to be worth.
Deck: i Yeah, I think If.
Deck: if Any quarterback goes down.
angrymike: No.
Deck: That's pretty much your... You're done.
N D: Right.
Deck: I mean, that's That's...
angrymike: Yep.
Deck: you know i don't know
angrymike: Yep.
N D: And the only thing out of NFC South is Carolina right now. so What the heck, their number two scoring team in the in the league.
Deck: I just wanted to hear your thoughts, buddy. He didn't hurt my feelings, did he? I know you don't like the Vikings, so I'm okay with that.
N D: I didn't plan on hurting your feelings, but.
Deck: That's good.
Deck: All right You want to go back to Mike Pickett, Arizona. That was pretty good. Try to get a good segue there, Mike.
N D: It was. ah
Deck: I really like that.
angrymike: No, no, and no, that's fine.
Deck: that was good
angrymike: I think on i think later this week we'll we'll talk a little bit more about the games and who's in and who's out. um
Deck: early
angrymike: And. We'll have our picks. for fantasy and and everything else. So I'm excited for that.
N D: We going? We go on Thursday morning.
Deck: We'll figure it out. time.
Deck: Good rest of your Monday.
