Bears Go All-In? The Jeffrey Simmons Trade, Jonathan Taylor Rumors & Packers–Panthers Preview

NFC North of Sanity with Deck, Dix and Angry Mike

Transcript

angrymike: Let's go.

Deck: Whoops I hit the wrong one

Deck: So.

N D: That's what we're talking about.

Deck: Sorry, no, I totally hit the wrong button. That was for your Bears trade today.

N D: Oh, I know you did. I know.

Deck: you know

N D: I know you did.

angrymike: yeah

Deck: Yeah. He got Richard Simmons. But...

angrymike: Oh, we get. we got We got big news today. The Packers. or bringing up Makai Becton from the practice squad. That's the big news today right in the NFC North.

Deck: oh who

N D: I seen that hit earlier.

Deck: woof

N D: I wasn't sure if it was true.

angrymike: well that didn't get the traction that some other moves were that happened today got but that's huge news man green bay

N D: Yeah.

Deck: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

angrymike: Oh, God. Super Bowl bound.

Deck: So. Okay. Are they super mobile?

N D: So can we...

Deck: No one.

N D: Are you introducing us, Chad, or are we right into the pod?

Deck: No, we we gotta, we get we gotta. to I can. So I got Nolan with me today. I got Dix with me and I got Angry Mike with me and we've been kind of.

angrymike: Yeah.

Deck: Matt talking all day long about this this big trade and all that sort of thing. but a couple things that i've just seen on on X here is Mike. they Nixon's been added to the injury report. What's up with that?

Deck: Did you see that?

angrymike: Yeah, I heard Yeah, I heard that. it's I'll put it this way. I don't know why he's hurt. i haven't really dug into it but It's not good on the day of a game. Somebody get.

angrymike: added to the injury report.

N D: Oh.

angrymike: So Keyshawn Nixon.

Deck: Right.

angrymike: even though people hate him on the green bay it's like oh my god i hate keyshawn nixon He's actually having a really good year. so it it

Deck: He's played good. He's played good.

angrymike: It'd be a loss. Yeah, it'd be a loss if they don't have them.

Deck: Yeah. Yep.

angrymike: But let's let's dive in first to Jeffrey Simmons.

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: I know we we talked about what would happen if the Bears got...

Deck: Okay.

angrymike: I love that. The bad part is, how is that so easily accessible on your on your computer? That's the crazy thing.

Deck: Yeah.

N D: Exactly.

Deck: i had to I had to do it.

angrymike: How...

Deck: I had to do it, Mike.

angrymike: as How's Richard Simmons playing Richard Simmons clip a mistake?

Deck: I had to put it on. Yeah.

angrymike: You know?

N D: I hate.

angrymike: Anyway.

N D: He had a lot of pictures of him.

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: Yeah, I saw that i saw it too. It's kind of weird.

Deck: Yeah.

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: But Jeffrey Simmons, we talked about earlier in the week. We're like, okay, if the Bears got Jeffrey Simmons, would they be? the top team in the North. And we were all kind of like, yeah, that'd be a little bit scary. But now that it's actually happened.

angrymike: What's the reaction? We're gonna start with Nolan, who's our resident Bear fan. Where does this put the Bears right now? Are you happy with the trade? Are you worried about the compensation? Where does this put that team now?

N D: I'm happy with the trade, I like it The dude's an animal. I like to trade. The Bears did get better today. But then when you start looking into the trade a little bit more.

N D: You know, one guy came out and said, well, the Bears could have used two first round picks on Crosby. and then went out and got Buckner for that fourth round. I'm just like.

Deck: city He must have hit a dead spot.

angrymike: Yeah, I get what he's saying.

Deck: Yep.

angrymike: It's like But the problem is this isn't fantasy football. You can't just say, okay. here I can give two first -round picks for Crosby in the offseason, and then all of a sudden DeForest Buckner is going to be available for a fourth, you know, in October.

angrymike: Nobody can predict that, right?

Deck: No. Right. Right. it I don't know if they got better today. I think that, yeah, they got better on defense, but their their secondary is still. Not the greatest in the world is it? I don't think.

angrymike: No, I mean, Kyler Gordon's back.

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: He's he's actually played really well. jalen johnson's been a real problem but you know what green bay last year when they had micah parsons We had Keyshawn Nixon, who was playing terrible. We had Carrington Valentine that had so he's got stone hands and. was terrible.

angrymike: No one complained about them until Parsons got hurt.

Deck: Right Right.

angrymike: Because you know why? Parsons were getting was getting fast pressures, and the quarterback had to get the ball out. and if the quarterback can't sit back there and and you know, look at look at the field and and and go through his reads.

angrymike: That helps the quarterback. That's going to help. Jalen Johnson, that's going to help Kyler Gordon. That's going to help Muhammad. So I think it's a good deal. Inside pressure is the hardest thing to get, and Jeffrey Simmons can definitely bring that.

N D: feet

angrymike: and there's not a person on the Bears roster. that could bring inside pressure like jeffrey simmons so i i hate the trade for me

Deck: Right.

angrymike: I love the trade for the bearers. And I.

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: And I and i think the cop.

Deck: I would go with that.

angrymike: The compensation? I said it on X today. F them picks, man. If you think you got a team and you got an elite quarterback on a rookie contract.

N D: out

angrymike: You pay the money. And see what you got. you know and this is much

N D: win now.

Deck: Yep.

angrymike: Yeah, it's much different than the Mac trade. They didn't have a quarterback. They didn't have a lot of pieces when they made that Khalil Mac trade. The Bears got him now. i I think this pushes them to the front of the line, to be honest with you.

N D: Well, when Mac comes next week. That'll help things out a little bit too. so

Deck: Oh, you think he's still coming, do you?

angrymike: Wow.

N D: All right.

Deck: I there's.

angrymike: Yes.

N D: ae

Deck: stuff out there right now that i'm reading that it's not done the bears aren't done but

N D: Nope. But my other my other question to both of you guys, obviously.

angrymike: Yeah.

N D: Probably good news for Packers and Vikings because now... the GMs from those teams are going. Uh -oh. Now who's going after Jonathan Taylor?

Deck: Yeah.

N D: Who's going after that big free agency?

Deck: they're

N D: I've heard Minnesota's already got a deal locked in. They're waiting for something. to explode, but... I mean... Who's getting them? Who's getting Jonathan Taylor?

Deck: I don't know So is the team is a team now?

angrymike: Good.

Deck: that wants to trade their star? Are they they in a better spot now? Or are they in a better spot next week? I guess would be my number one question. Your guys' thoughts on that.

angrymike: Oh, I think the I think i think the market...

Deck: And then.

angrymike: And I'll let you finish your question. Go ahead. Sorry.

Deck: No, no, that's where I was at. or So what do you think?

angrymike: Yeah, I think the market is now. is now set. But... like green bay that was looking into a deforest buckner they were looking into Jeffrey Simmons, there's no way Green Bay could have traded for him. but Now all of a sudden they're turning their attention to Vita Vea and it's like, okay, if he's available.

angrymike: all of a sudden there's one less defensive tackle that some other team can get. And all of a sudden that kind of pushes the value or pushes the.

Deck: Right.

angrymike: to cost higher. But... I'm interested, you know, to see how this all plays out. I think Green Bay could really use a defensive lineman. They could probably use another defensive end. And they could probably use a linebacker. So it's it's interesting to see how it plays out. But I wouldn't be surprised if Green Bay doesn't really do anything and it just hopes that.

angrymike: Parsons coming back. will cure some of the issues they have with that defense, which has actually been playing pretty well.

N D: Why?

Deck: And with. Go ahead Nolan

N D: I was going to say, I also saw that the Packers were looking back into Josh Sweat. Paws will be coming in the next week.

angrymike: well last Every time I bring up Josh Sweat, I get hate mail.

N D: so

N D: Yeah.

angrymike: thinking Green Bay was going to make that move.

N D: Yeah.

angrymike: I mean, it's possible, but... I think that was probably before LVN kind of broke out a little bit and i and DDS den denied Dennis Sutton.

N D: Yep.

angrymike: not the ex Not the X account, because I don't want anybody to get upset on this pod by bringing him up.

angrymike: but

N D: Exactly.

angrymike: he's He's kind of flash too. And I think when you have LVN as your two instead of your one. He looks a lot better, especially if Parsons is going to come back and eat up two blockers. So I i think Green Bay stays pat there, and I think they hope to get a little healthier here in the coming weeks. but But yeah, they could always use a lineman, offensive lineman. But Quentin Nelson going and kind of. Stop that.

angrymike: uh idea

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: But. I'd love to get a Vita Vea.

Deck: So I.

N D: And.

Deck: i

angrymike: I'd love to get a Vita Vea if we can get him, but I'm also not delusional of the fact that Green Bay has already given up a couple of first round picks and next year's draft is ultra deep.

Deck: Yeah, what the...

N D: yeah

Deck: is Is he worth a first -round pick? I don't think he's worth a first -round pick.

angrymike: No, no.

Deck: I mean...

angrymike: Josh Sweat? Absolutely not. he

Deck: Or Vitavia. I don't think he's worth it.

angrymike: He's probably a... Josh Swett's probably a third or a fourth round pick, especially if he's only got...

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: I knew he signed through next year, but. I don't know how that contract balloons. so I would have to go look at it again. But if you can get Josh Swift for a fourth, I would do it. That's essentially trading Rashawn Gary for him. because stupid Jerry Jones gave us a fourth -round pick. All the other teams got Quentin Nelson and DeForest Buckner. and And Jerry Jones capture shot carry.

angrymike: That's hilarious.

N D: Okay. Yeah. So is Jonathan Taylor going to Minnesota this afternoon?

Deck: No Nope. my My guess is Jonathan Taylor goes to the Bengals. That's what i've been I've been seeing a lot of that talk on. on the accent.

N D: I'm here in Seattle.

Deck: You're here in Seattle. I don't think he'll go to Seattle.

N D: I heard Seattle.

Deck: I think he goes to the Bengals. I don't think the Vikings will. trade for any sort of defensive person. It's just my.

angrymike: No, they don't need to.

Deck: no I mean yeah it'd be nice to get maybe another linebacker I don't know But I'm hoping that we. get a a stud offensive lineman. And I don't know if there's any out there. I haven't really been paying attention. and you know jonathan taylor would be great but i just don't think the vikes want to give up a first round and that's what they're saying is going for right now kind of where i was going with my question earlier is like i think the team that waits longer is going to get a better deal to be the one trading for

Deck: So like next week, is it going to be Jonathan Taylor goes for a second round instead of a first round? is Evita Vea going for a third round instead of a second round. yeah i

angrymike: yeahp

Deck: that That's just.

angrymike: Yeah.

Deck: how I see it, but. I would say the Bears trade. Does it scare me? No. it was already it's already the bears they you know it's always The bears. So... no matter who it is, it's always going to be a good game. So I don't i don't think that this move.

Deck: Puts the Bears in line. to go to the Super Bowl. Nice. That's my opinion, Nolan. I know it's not crazy.

N D: Well, you you've said all four of our teams aren't going to the Super Bowl.

Deck: Exciting with you And I did.

N D: You said that.

Deck: I did say that

N D: And... And we'll find out, okay? So if on Monday night... Bears lose by a field goal, 30 -27. Bears put up 350 yards against the Seahawks. Defense.

N D: Are they Super Bowl contenders? Do you think they have a chance to go to the Super Bowl? are you Die hard set that it's going to be San Fran or Seattle.

Deck: i I never said it was going to be San Fran or Seattle. But just because you put up 350 yards on Seattle, that doesn't mean anything, Nolan. That doesn't mean nothing. You got to score more points.

N D: Well nobody's done it yet. So.

Deck: Well, you got to score more points.

N D: Yeah.

Deck: e

N D: Well, the guards turn in the points sometimes.

Deck: Sometimes.

N D: And defense. And defense.

Deck: this

N D: Now, why did Washington... Beats Seattle. They had three turnovers. so Bears, I'm hoping, will force a couple turnovers. Put up 350 yards.

N D: and hopefully get a win. I'm not bet. betting on it by any by any means, but...

angrymike: Yeah, I think.

N D: When you have Caleb Williams, you have a chance.

N D: You have a chance.

angrymike: Well, I'm... I'm looking at it from my standpoint. It's like. I think the Bears improved big time. and And, you know, I was told on X. You guys know me, right?

angrymike: I had somebody had somebody tell me that I was a bear's plant. And I'm like, A bear's plant? I just think it's funny how...

Deck: that's That's pretty nice to what else I've seen you called.

angrymike: i

Deck: so

angrymike: oh i know but but it's just like well you know that is kind of like a four -letter word but it's like you can

Deck: Maybe.

angrymike: That's why I like the pod too, except for you two attack each other too much. Kidding. But it's like. Yeah. It's...

angrymike: Other teams can make good moves, and you can say, hey, it's a good move. you know this is going to make them scarier it's okay to say that and still be loyal to your team you know it's not it's not you have to be delusional or you're not a real fan you know it's it's just

Deck: Yeah. I...

Deck: Good night.

angrymike: It's just crazy.

Deck: Well... No one's got it. No one's... nolan's posted a couple things you're scared you're scared on x i saw that i don't think people are scared of them

N D: Well, that's on X.

Deck: I know. Bye. Poor Mike.

N D: but But as I told you...

Deck: God, some of the names you get called on here.

N D: I know. I'm a hypocrite today, I guess, because of the signing, I guess.

angrymike: No, I, well, I bring i bring it.

N D: so Yeah.

angrymike: I bring it on myself. So it's kind of like, hey, why is everyone picking on you and you're you're posting?

angrymike: Some of the stuff I post. you know I think one of the funniest things, one, two, is.

N D: Yep.

angrymike: They'll go like I had somebody post well People are saying... you know, Simmons is making all this money. Well, you know, it was the Titans that already paid that huge bonus. And it's like,

angrymike: No, it's not about the cost. of the cash, it's the cost of the cap. And he just signed a, you know, a $35 million. dollars you know, a year contract and we know how the cap works, but I don't think there are a lot of fans on X know how a cap works.

N D: Yep.

angrymike: it It starts, you know, if they sign Caleb Williams to a long -term deal.

N D: No.

angrymike: And then let's see. $60 million dollars a year, which it probably will end up being. You're not going to pay him $60 million dollars in cap space the first year. It's probably going to be like 12. And then it starts ballooning up as the as it goes on.

N D: Yep.

Deck: i

angrymike: And like any elite quarterback, and I know the Bears have never had to pay an elite quarterback.

Deck: right

angrymike: Ha ha, that's a joke. But yet it's true.

N D: No. We have not.

Deck: yes

N D: Yeah.

angrymike: you probably don't understand how that works. So really you're going to end up paying year four and you're going to, if he's a good quarterback, you're going to end up extending him and you're going to end up bringing his cap number down and converting things to bonuses and things like that.

angrymike: Jeffrey Simmons is going to cost a lot of money. You know why? He's a goddamn good player.

Deck: Yep.

angrymike: You're going to pay good players that kind of cash.

N D: yep

Deck: Yep.

angrymike: And you know what? If you want cheap contracts. Be a goddamn Browns fan. Because you know what? All their players suck. Pretty much. So if you want a cheap -ass team, it's not your team.

Deck: Well, I will.

N D: yeah

angrymike: You're not paying the contracts. Just. worry about Don't worry about it.

Deck: All right. Go ahead, Nolan. I know you got some. youre your

N D: Well, no, like like I told Chad earlier, when we were going back through the text bunks, the three of us, it's like. I don't really, I like to trade. And I guess if there was a trade for the Packers, I would probably say, yeah, I like to trade.

N D: But we got fleeced. Or you guys got fleeced.

Deck: yeah Yeah, that's funny.

N D: Every... Everybody's going to say that. where in the back of your mind you're going, oh my gosh, yeah, it's two draft picks, but...

Deck: yeah

N D: they They just got Simmons. So you're you're going to talk trash. You're going to do the. you know, it's an okay trade. Well, no, it's not an okay trade. It's a pretty damn good trade for the Chicago Bears. Anytime the Packers went... When Packers got Parsons, everybody was like. Two first round picks, are you kidding me?

N D: Well look what he did. I mean, he's worth the two first -round picks, and I think Simmons is.

Deck: Right. So. Truth be told for me. I... Before this whole trade deadline talk that we've done. Started. I never had heard of Simmons before. so And that's probably because I don't really care about the Titans.

N D: Okay.

Deck: so But I did go and I watched some some video on them.

N D: Yep.

Deck: a Pretty quick release. Guy gets after the quarterback pretty fast.

N D: He does yeah

Deck: But. That was you know, so I mean, yeah

N D: And be it, he's 30, but... On a three -year contract? we're We're right in that bubble of... Win now. Before you have to pay Caleb. $800 million, dollars you know, so.

Deck: We'll see.

N D: and I'm liking the chances.

Deck: You start, does he start Monday?

N D: I would say he would start Monday, just the fact that... i I don't know if Nelson is starting where he got traded. because of the the schemes and everything, the blocking schemes, but... As far as the defensive tackle, don't you just say...

N D: Pin your ears back man and go. You got to get to the quarterback.

Deck: Do you see?

N D: I don't know. I'm sure there's some some plays.

Deck: Do you see Sam Darnold? Go get him. That's what you do.

N D: Yep. Yep. Exactly. Is Mike still with us?

angrymike: Yeah, it's not like you're getting a, it's not. Yeah, you can hear me, right?

N D: Oh.

Deck: Yes.

N D: Yep.

angrymike: Yeah, I was just waiting my turn. Yeah, so it's like...

N D: Oh, gotcha.

angrymike: yeah know It's not like you're bringing a... It's not like you're bringing a quarterback on, right, that has to learn a new scheme.

Deck: bra

angrymike: you're It's a defensive tackle. It's it's going to be.

N D: right

angrymike: go get the quarterback, stop the run. So I think they're. I think they're in good shape. I think he's going to play him Monday night. Do they play Monday night?

Deck: Yeah. So, okay.

angrymike: I think so. yeah

Deck: Enough Barrett's talk. Yeah, he plays Monday night. Okay, let's talk tonight's game, Mike. What's going to happen?

angrymike: Well, i I think Green Bay is... Well. It's hard to predict them to be honest with you. They, uh...

angrymike: Hold on one second. Sorry guys

Deck: Dixie, you still there? You got the. Okay, gotcha.

N D: Yeah. We won't.

angrymike: Yeah, here I am.

Deck: So.

angrymike: Sorry, sorry guys.

N D: We won't call this a...

Deck: Yep.

N D: Oh, that's okay. We won't call this a trap game, right? I mean, Carolina's coming in banged up. I mean, does Green Bay... I mean, do they whoop up on him tonight? Do they put up 40? Jordan Love. finally put people in their place and just go, hey, I'm an MVP candidate. I just threw for four touchdowns, 380 yards, and no interceptions.

N D: Tonight should be the night he does it.

angrymike: I think...

angrymike: Yeah, I think Jordan Love goes off tonight, but I've been saying that for... for the entire season.

Deck: Oh, Mike, went he went yellow on my thing here, so he must have.

angrymike: so i I really don't know If that makes sense.

N D: Oh.

Deck: Yeah, so we're good.

angrymike: I think.

N D: What?

Deck: So, Nolan, to me, does do the Panthers, after getting punched in the face by the Buccaneers, do they got to come back and really kind of say, all right, let's go.

angrymike: I think he throws for three.

Deck: Let's go. We need to win this game. you know that's

N D: They do But i don't I think with their injuries, I think. I think Green Bay is going to come in and just overpower them tonight. and I... i'm Pretty sure I'm on the same page as Mike.

N D: And I'm curious to see what he's thinking about Jordan Love here tonight. But with with Golden on the... The injury report. That one's a little... That one's a little scary for me if I'm a Packer fan if I don't have Golden out there.

Deck: Right. Yeah.

angrymike: Yeah, I think could you guys hear me in my back in my back?

Deck: So you back yet, Mike, or are you still.

N D: Yep.

angrymike: Can you hear me?

Deck: Yeah.

N D: Yep.

angrymike: Okay, perfect.

Deck: Yep, you're back now, yep.

angrymike: Sorry. sorry Sorry about that.

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: I hit hit a dead zone. but I'm a little nervous about tonight. The reason why is there's a couple injuries that hit really late. One is Keyshawn Nixon.

angrymike: The other one is the fact that they're they're working on their second center. or really their third center and John Williams that may have to play tonight or or Jagger Burton.

angrymike: But. The good part is the Panthers are really beat up, too, as well. they're but I think both their starting corners are out. they got our our buddy Walker, the left tackle is having a terrible year.

angrymike: So Green Bay is going to have a chance to go with them. It's just going to be a matter of the fact. Can Green Bay protect love? and and give him time to throw. But the Matthew Golden.

angrymike: situation there too is a little frustrating that he's hurt. now as well. So. It's just...

N D: And what did he do?

angrymike: They're just... I'm not quite sure, to be honest with you. I think he's got a foot problem and a little bit of a shoulder. So. And he finished the game last Sunday against Detroit.

Deck: but

angrymike: So it's like... How did he hurt himself when we didn't even practice this week?

Deck: Yeah, I don't know. He kind of cut in and out again.

N D: yeah I missed what you said there, Mike.

Deck: on

N D: You were in and out.

Deck: Yeah, you're kind of You must still be in your dead zone, but.

Deck: golden Golden not being on the field, I think, hurts. the Packers quite a bit. Just chime in when you come back in, Mike. But, you know, they got Jacobs back.

angrymike: yeah

Deck: they I just think the Packers, they got to catch the damn ball, man. If they're going to win, they got to catch the damn ball.

angrymike: Yeah, Green Bay is, like, leading.

Deck: Right.

angrymike: Yeah, Green Bay's leading the NFL in drops. And I think it's it's at a terrible rate. Can you guys hear me yet?

Deck: Yep.

angrymike: or Okay. Chad, since you can edit all this out, ask me ask me the question again about the Packers tonight, and I'll and i'll just start over.

Deck: Okay. Okay, sounds good. Take two. Here we go, Mike. Tell me why you're nervous about the about the Packers.

angrymike: take Take two.

Deck: Tonight.

angrymike: Well, I'll be honest with you. There's a lot of guys that You know, we're out of this game. The offensive line has been terrible all year, but now on top of that. They have a couple more entries, believe it or not. so Right guard.

angrymike: We still don't know who's going to play that. Travis Glover has played the last couple games, and we thought he played pretty decent. But now all of a sudden he's hurt. So. Kevin Zeitler may play. We may have Mekhi Becton play.

angrymike: We may have Lake and Tomlinson move over from left guard to right guard. It's... It's a goddamn mess, to be honest with you.

Deck: yeah

angrymike: We have that problem. Then on top of that, we have Keyshawn Nixon, who just. Ended up on the the injury list today, and he hasn't even practiced this week. So you have him and then Matthew Golden is injured. He's got a foot and a shoulder.

angrymike: And. It's just how many more hits can Green Bay have, you know, and still stay afloat? And it seems like it's just a common issue, but... The only bright spot of this game, the Panthers are coming in. They got their butts kicked by a... Not a great Tampa Bay team.

angrymike: And they're just as beat up as Green Bay is. They got Rasheed Walker now starting at left guard or left tackle. I think he's leading the NFL in pressures. uh given up And then on top of that.

angrymike: Both their starting corners are out. And. You know, they're they're just beat up. I think Green Bay can attack them. It's just going to be all a part of can Green Bay score enough. and i And I think they will. I think tonight's going to be one of those games.

angrymike: 27 -21. I think it's going to end up being in the Packers, and it's going to be a lot closer than people think it's going to be. But this is a desperate game that Green Bay needs to win. Because if they don't win tonight.

angrymike: The Bears who just got Jeffrey Simmons. You still got the Vikings. You know. 6 -0, and even though you know we think they're going to lose 12 in a row.

Deck: yes

angrymike: Or what is it, 11 in a row?

N D: Six.

angrymike: to miss the playoffs.

N D: Six more.

Deck: Nolan's calling six, but, you know.

angrymike: Six. Sex. Sex. Okay.

Deck: who's Who's counting? Who's counting?

angrymike: Yeah, who? Yeah, who's counting? so I just think if Green Bay loses this game tonight. They're... you know, there'll be seven seed merchants and a lot to hear that for the next 12 months. But.

Deck: There you go

N D: Thank you.

angrymike: But yeah, it's going to be a close one. It's fun. At least you guys get a hate watch tonight. And I get to watch something tonight. too so at the very least it'll be fun

Deck: Yeah. No, i I enjoyed watching the other teams. I mean, I... I think the Packers will win. I know Nolan said that too. He feels like Jordan Love's going to go off tonight. so Anyone want to pick any Packer for our fantasy picks?

Deck: So we got to do that. And then. I want to ask Nolan one last question before we before we take off for the day. so

N D: I know my burden pick hit pretty good last week, so that was that was kind of nice.

Deck: Yeah, you did good on that. Yep, that was a good one. I gotta give you that.

N D: I don't think I'll pick pick that this week, but... I'm going to go with Watson, I think for wide receiver. I think he'll have a big night tonight. Love will connect with him twice.

Deck: Okay.

angrymike: Yep.

Deck: I'm going to go.

angrymike: I like...

angrymike: Go ahead.

Deck: Go ahead. Go ahead. I was going to pick Williams from.

angrymike: I love it.

Deck: uh the lions against the vikings he seems to always put a pretty good game up against the vikings so i'm gonna go Jamison Williams.

angrymike: All right, I'm I'm gonna go. I'm going to go Christian Watson as well. I i think he he's a streaky player. he's He hasn't had a... his last couple games have been a little rough.

angrymike: I just think. The Panthers don't have the secondary to keep up with the Green Bay weapons, so and they really don't have a pass rusher that really makes me nervous. So i think I think Watson can can feast tonight.

Deck: Okay.

Deck: Good. Let's go running back, and I'll start. I'm going to take that guy nobody likes from Green Bay. I'm going to say he's going to have the breakout game tonight. He's going to score a couple touchdowns against the Panthers defense because they're hurt.

Deck: So I'm going with him.

N D: I'm going to roll a little bit differently this week.

angrymike: Yes.

N D: Guys. It's going to shock you a little bit. I'll put a stipulation on if Jonathan Taylor doesn't start for the Vikings on Sunday. I'm gonna take... DeAndre Swift is going to have a night against Seattle.

angrymike: Ha ha.

N D: I know. Crazy, but... I think the Bears are going to figure it out. the run. He's going to have a couple touchdowns for the Bears. and There you go.

Deck: Spoken like a true Homer.

N D: Swift.

Deck: A true homer right there.

N D: Yep.

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: Yeah, I'm... This is kind of weird for me to say, too, but I'm going to take Josh Jacobs as well. I know it feels like I'm stealing picks, but.

Deck: No, that's alright.

angrymike: Minnesota. They've got a two -headed monster, so that's really tough to take either one of those guys. Swift against Seattle is real tough. Uh, Jameer Gibbs against the best defense in the NFL is not attractive, so I think Josh Jacobs.

angrymike: May, uh... end up leaning into a good game. Just out of usage.

Deck: There you go. Alright. Well, here you can't copy our picks here, Mike, because you're picking the quarterback. So go ahead. and Call it out.

angrymike: I'm going to take... God, this is gonna be tough. I'm gonna take Caleb Williams. I think. I think the Bears are going to struggle to run the ball against Seattle, and I think... Caleb's going to have to play some hero ball, and I think he's going to end up having some pretty big numbers, especially if the Bears get down early. I think he's going to have a heck of a game.

Deck: There you go. I'm gonna go with

N D: God, you brought cheer to my eye, Mike.

Deck: Yeah.

Deck: I'm going to go with Mr. Caleb Williams as well because I think the Bears are going to have to play catch up and I think he's going to have to throw a lot. And. To Nolan's point, 350 yards is is achievable.

Deck: When you're playing from behind. so i'll I'll go with that. I'm going to go Caleb Williams.

N D: Okay. I'm going to go with the guy. I think, Mike, you weren't on here when i when I predicted Jordan Love's night. But. He's going to have 380 yards, four touchdowns. He's going to have a monster night against Carolina Soul. Jordan Love is my fantasy quarterback of the week, and I hate to tell you this, but...

N D: You're kind of in the same boat whenever you pick something. Bet against me. Because it never pans out.

Deck: Yeah.

N D: So...

angrymike: Yeah. You know.

N D: But you never know. I think he really could tonight. I think he could have a big night.

Deck: Right?

angrymike: I...

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: You know, you know my final my final rant here, because I... I love how people crap on Jordan Love. And I think it's funny us rival fans, you know, the hypocrisy.

angrymike: of all of us. It's like Micah Parsons was, we gave up. Two first rounds, we way overpaid. I would never would have done that. And now that the Bears are doing it, it's like, oh, yeah, but this makes sense because it's Jeffrey Simmons.

angrymike: But then on the flip side, you have last year. Caleb Williams. you know, was a big play merchant and had a 58 % completion percentage and all Packer fans did was make fun of him. And now you have Jordan Love, who has got a similar situation than Caleb did. He's big play hunting.

angrymike: And. His completion percentage is like 59%, but it's due to like receivers having the most drops in the NFL. You know, so it's like if you put all those together, Jordan Love would probably have an MVP season going on right now.

angrymike: But. he's not because of everything around him, you know?

Deck: right

angrymike: So I've, I could believe three 80 and four touchdowns, even though he hasn't done it this year, he's had a couple of times where he should have.

Deck: Right.

angrymike: And I think, you know, the way the Panthers are are built, I think he could really cook tonight. But it's just all a matter of. Can they protect? Can they catch? You know, can we get even a little bit of a running game?

N D: yeah

angrymike: But the hypocrisy is great. And that's kind of what makes talking sports fun. It's that stuff.

Deck: Well, both teams are coming off.

N D: Okay.

Deck: rivalry losses, you know, the Packers coming off against the lions, which and like I really thought the Packers should have won that game. And then the the Panthers getting just beat down by the Buccaneers.

angrymike: Yeah.

Deck: I mean, that was crazy. So, I mean. Hopefully both teams.

angrymike: Yep.

Deck: I don't like those short week games, especially after your team loses because. you know. And some will say, well, they can just put it behind them quicker if they play Thursday night, which I understand that as well. but I don't know. I just, your guys don't get enough time to heal between weeks. You know, every player hurts right now.

Deck: you know, in the in the nfl right now if you don't have a bruise or a bump or something you haven't been playing. But.

angrymike: Yeah.

Deck: little Two or three more days of healing is better for teams.

angrymike: Yeah. the code

Deck: so But I think the Packers will easily take it tonight.

angrymike: Yeah, the cope the cope's real, right? So when another team does something positive, you got to come up with something to put that team down.

Deck: Yep.

N D: Yep.

angrymike: And. you know and if you if you agree you're coping or you're not a real fan

Deck: Right.

angrymike: If you don't agree you're delusional. You know, so it's like you lose no matter what. So I'm kind of taking a different approach where I'm like, you know what? I'm gonna call a spade a spade.

angrymike: I think the Vikings are 6 -0. Do I think they're the best team in the NFL? I don't. But they're 6 -0, and they are what their record is. so when they're sitting at 14 and three and green bay's sitting at home i'll go wow green bay's a lot more talented than the vikings but they're sitting at home So.

angrymike: It is what it is, you know, and same with the Lions.

Deck: Right. Right.

angrymike: I hate the Lions too, by the way. I think Green Bay. Should have beaten them. but the bears i mean you have to tip their hat they're they're going for it And that's what it's all about.

angrymike: being a fan.

Deck: Right.

angrymike: Win the goddamn Super Bowl this year.

Deck: Oh, yeah. Well, yeah, you want.

angrymike: Who cares about next year?

Deck: You want your team to... i mean I hope the Vikings make a trade. I think it's fun when teams trade. It's great. but i don't I don't know what they will do.

angrymike: There we go. Yeah, if you give up a first -round pick next year. Let's say to get Jonathan Taylor, probably your biggest weakness on offense right now besides, I mean, you can't get a top quarterback this day. and you know this late season But... Jonathan Taylor would. immensely improve that Vikings offense and really make the landscape of the NFC change.

angrymike: i I already think it's running through the north and... This would... this would you know just it It would just cement it into place. you know And I would love for all four teams to make a big move and have the top four teams be in the North and in the NFC.

angrymike: That makes them free. some goddamn fun football for us to watch and for us to talk about and build content on.

Deck: Right on.

N D: that

angrymike: So people want to call me, you know, a delusional fan or they want to call me a plant or whatever. I'm just trying to keep it real and and have some fun. And that's what it's all about, watching this shit and having a really good time.

angrymike: So.

Deck: All right. there you go all right

angrymike: If that makes me delusional, or that's then it makes me delusional.

Deck: Oh. There we go.

N D: Makes you a fan. But yeah.

Deck: Makes you a fan of football.

angrymike: Yeah.

Deck: so All right.

N D: Yeah.

angrymike: Absolutely.

Deck: let's Let's pick Vikings -Lions. i Beginning of the year, I said the first loss. for the Vikings would be against the Detroit Lions, and I'm still going to stick with that. So I think the Lions beat the Vikings this weekend.

angrymike: I agree. i think I think the Lions win. It doesn't mean the Vikings are a bad team, but I... I think the Lions can score against. Score against the Vikings. And I don't know if the Vikings have enough firepower to return the favor.

Deck: Right.

angrymike: but Winning in Detroit's not easy, even though. There was plenty of opportunities last week to beat him.

Deck: Yes, there was

angrymike: You know what I mean?

Deck: and That's what gives me that's what gives me me that little hope of maybe the Vikings can pull it off, but I don't think they will.

angrymike: Dan Gant.

angrymike: Yep, Dan Gamble's a gambler, and he... gambled the game away last week and Green Bay let him off the hook. So there's no reason the Vikings can do that too. But I think it's more likely that the Lions win by three.

Deck: Okay. Next week.

N D: I'm taking Minnesota plus three.

Deck: Woo! woo

angrymike: Whoa.

Deck: Reverse psychology right there. That's what that is.

Deck: That's what that is

N D: You've known me too long, Chad, known me too long.

Deck: yes Yes, I have. so

N D: But I'm going to pick the Packers tonight, though. they' Packers, I think, will cover the three and a half against the Panthers.

Deck: or Yeah. I thought we all picked a pack.

N D: Yeah, always we already went okay.

Deck: Did we forget to ask it?

N D: Yeah

Deck: Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, Bears -Seahawks. Go ahead, Nolan.

N D: I'm going to take Bears plus three.

Deck: Okay.

N D: Now you don't even have to explain it They're just going to outscore them. They're going to outgain them.

angrymike: I'll tell you what.

Deck: I'm going to.

angrymike: you tip you you talk You talk about the perfect time.

Deck: Go ahead, Mike

angrymike: for Seattle to trade for Quentin Nelson. Right when Jeffrey Simmons is coming to town.

N D: Exactly.

Deck: Mm -hmm.

angrymike: I... Yeah.

N D: If he plays, is Nelson playing?

angrymike: know I would assume so. yeah mean He played last week, so it's not like he's out of shape.

N D: Yeah.

Deck: yeah Yeah, he's playing. yeah he's playing

N D: No. I didn't know, like, schemes and all that.

angrymike: Yeah.

N D: if but I'm sure you just say go block.

angrymike: Yeah.

N D: Who do I block? Okay.

Deck: Yeah.

N D: Darnold could tell him who to block.

Deck: Yeah.

angrymike: Yeah, he's he's a nine.

N D: See that Simmons guy right there. Block him.

angrymike: Yeah, he's a nine -year veteran. I think he can figure out a stunt if he needs to block a stunt.

N D: yep

angrymike: So I i think I like the Bears plus three as well. i'm I'm all in on the NFC North. I think. Nice. I think our teams are ready to roll. And I take the points and take the Bears.

Deck: Yeah. I'm going to go with the Bears too. I think it's going to be a low -scoring game. I really do. I think it's going to be. you know Both teams score under 20.

Deck: I don't think it's going to get crazy out of hand and it's going to be like a 17. 13 or but I got to pick the Bears.

N D: So Decker says bet the under. Bet the under.

Deck: Huh? I'm saying bet the under. I don't like the point spread.

N D: It's 46 and a half, so.

Deck: I don't like the point spreads. I'm more of an over -under guy. so I would say that.

N D: Yeah.

Deck: but So there's that. but Dixie, I wanted to ask you, and I know you got to go because you're calling a volleyball game at 6 p .m. your time here, and we're coming up on that. so How does one call a volleyball game?

N D: Thanks. very carefully. You just gotta...

Deck: Is that...

N D: to you Yeah. Yeah, it just...

Deck: What do you say? what do you I mean, like because football you could say, you know.

N D: Oh, there's passes, there's bumps, there's spikes, there's...

Deck: Uh...

Deck: Do you say that?

N D: Jump serve, there's...

Deck: like

N D: Net serve, there's... And when there's one of those. That the girl gets set and she just hammers it down and it hits the girl in the face. You just go. Oh! That's gonna hurt in the morning.

angrymike: Yeah.

N D: so No, it's not it's not so bad.

Deck: Is that?

angrymike: All right guys.

N D: But... Khalil Mack will be a bear either Monday morning or Tuesday morning, probably Tuesday morning.

angrymike: The bears have enough picks to make that trade.

Deck: Good.

N D: I think they'll Use the fifth.

Deck: Dude, you gotta... You got to lay off the devil's lettuce there, buddy. All right.

N D: And Taylor will be a Viking on Monday. Book it! All right.
