Introduction & World Championships Preview
00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome back to the barn session, everybody. We're doing a late night basement barn session. A mere five and a half hours before the world championships start.
00:00:12
Speaker
And we're gonna preview it. and And that's the synopsis. Because we're goaded like that. Because no one does it like No one does it like us.
00:00:23
Speaker
No one's gonna do it like us. let's Let's just roll right into it.
Spencer Lee's Path to Victory
00:00:28
Speaker
So I gave Reese, while we were waiting for you to decide when you were gonna show up, a breakdown of everybody's draws and for Team USA and what their paths look like to win a world title.
00:00:42
Speaker
Have you looked at the brackets at all? Somewhat. how How much? glanced I'm gonna I'm gonna be here nice you do yeah Jamie pull that up three mr lee's gonna win fifty seven as you can see is the favoriteite am nervous about his semi-final match r b y with rbu y if it happens yeah so so let's let's break down what Spencer Lee's most likely opponents are at each round. So he will open it up with a match either against Kim from Korea or Demir from Turkey.
00:01:22
Speaker
Neither person's really much of a problem for a guy of Spencer Lee's caliber. You know, the general idea before even getting into the the bracket is that Spencer Lee is the number one one guy at this weight by a healthy margin.
00:01:35
Speaker
And it would be a bit of an upset to see him not win the world title. So he should make it to the quarters pretty easily, where he will probably see the number two ranked guy at 61 kilograms, Arsene Haratunian from Armenia.
00:01:50
Speaker
I'm kind of interested to see what this matchup looks like, because... Arsene's cutting a lot of weight. When was last time he was at 57? 2024, when he was at the Olympics. And he beat the brakes off Roman Bravo-Young in the opening round. He did.
00:02:05
Speaker
He did. But that was a different Roman. Yep. um yeah a new round So this would be a good matchup for Spencer Lee. I don't think, I'm not too concerned about it because I do think the weight cut's going factor. I do think Spencer Lee is going pretty powerful for him.
00:02:22
Speaker
And yeah, I'm not worried about it. But the semi-final is probably the matchup for him to have that's going to have the most intrigue in terms of... the
00:02:37
Speaker
Keep going. Sorry. sorry Will you move your bags, Amy? Yeah, I got you. Basically, he's got therere there are two main guys that that Spencer Lee can most likely see in the semifinals, and it's going to be Chong Song Han from the People's Republic of Korea, which is South Korea, or Roman Bravo Young from Mexico.
00:02:58
Speaker
Now, we all know Roman Bravo Young. Expatriate Roman Bravo Young. He was expatriated. I think that's just what Willie called all of them. Expats.
00:03:09
Speaker
Expats. Expats. I think so Spencer Lee wrestled Roman Bobby Young earlier this year. It was a 5-2 match. Something like that. Something like that. Competitive. It was competitive but also somewhat controlled. Very controlled by Spencer Lee for five and a half minutes of the match. Yeah.
00:03:29
Speaker
So does our does RBY make some adjustments make that match even closer and give himself a situation where it's a one exchange match late into it and pull off an upset, maybe.
00:03:40
Speaker
This Han guy has kind of shown up as a big name. i think he, I want to say he either won or just did ah did did some impressive things at the Asian Championships earlier this year.
00:03:55
Speaker
So these are the two guys that I'm most interested to see Spencer Lee wrestle. Obviously, it's always fun to see Roman Bravo-Young and Spencer Lee wrestle each other. And then if he makes the finals, he'll probably have Amman from India or Abdullaya from Uzbekistan. and I imagine probably smashes out of those guys.
00:04:12
Speaker
Yeah, if he makes the finals, I think it's it's in the bag. Yeah. He's wrestled Abdu'lade before, right? Didn't he wrestle him last year? think he teched him at the Olympics. Yeah. Is he the one that wrestled, that won NAIAs a couple years ago?
00:04:26
Speaker
I think so, but I'm not. For Menlo? Oh, yeah. I'm not certain, but I think you're right. Now Han from Korea, he's got Darian Cruz first round. That's not going to be necessarily like a total throwaway match.
00:04:39
Speaker
think it's interesting to look at, especially if you're a fan of US wrestlers. I think that's one worth worth looking at. ah Serbius Tiskayev and the Mongolian rep, whose name I'm not going to try and pronounce, the Mongolian rep did beat Roman Brabojong earlier this year at the Mongolian Ranking Series.
00:04:58
Speaker
So I think there's some intrigue behind how he does. However, I don't think he gets he gets past Hartunian. So there's some interesting names.
00:05:09
Speaker
Sakamoto for Japan. Rin Sakamoto, he's going to be wrestling for Oklahoma State in this upcoming NCAA season. He has already wrestled for Oklahoma State. Yeah, he wrestled one match.
00:05:21
Speaker
Drake Ayala kind of punked him. Shout out Drake Ayala.
Jax Forrest & Rivalries
00:05:25
Speaker
And Sakamoto wrestled at U20s earlier this year. He didn't medal. I think he took fifth or ninth or something like that. So not not probably not going to strong performer for the U20s. 57. I think he lost to the guy who second. Quality loss.
00:05:43
Speaker
um i think he he lost the guy who took second and then quality loss Yeah, and then he was in Repichage, and I think he lost the round before the bronze medal match, something like that.
00:05:56
Speaker
ah Also, the Russian rep, Mkhitaryan. Say his name again. Mkhitaryan. Transformer. it's He is, dude. I think it might be Mekhtikonov. That's probably the more accurate way of saying it. For sure, Decepticon.
00:06:16
Speaker
I mean, I'm just interested to see how he's going to He wrestled Luke Lilladol earlier this year, and it was a match that Lilladol could have won, so just intriguing to me. But, yeah.
00:06:26
Speaker
Is that his most likely finals match? Is it the Russian? No, no, no, It's either probably most likely probably Amon or Abdoulayeva. think of the Russian kid? I don't know. I mean, based on the way that I that i saw him wrestle Luke Lilladol, I mean, if if he had kind of hammered Luke Lilladol, would have been like, okay, this guy is probably the real deal. It just doesn't seem like he is.
00:06:50
Speaker
At least, yeah, he's young, I'm pretty sure, too. so I think going to pick him as my silver. So you can go Lee, Miktokhanov, and then Mike. Young and Amon?
00:07:00
Speaker
Does that make sense? Sure, yeah, yeah. That that that will work, yes. All right. Yeah. I mean, I'm going to say Amon probably makes the finals.
00:07:12
Speaker
He's pretty solid against most opponents. I think he and he teched everybody that he beat at the Olympics last year for bronze.
00:07:24
Speaker
The only person he lost to was Ray Higuchi. so And he lost earlier this year to Roman Bravo Young, but...
00:07:31
Speaker
It was a close match, wasn't it, one point? Probably. think it was very tactical on RBY's part. so But I think this should be a ah great start for Team USA. I think we should be able to win.
00:07:42
Speaker
this is This is probably our our best weight, our best chance at winning a gold medal. so yeah I mean, yes. Yes. But... Undoubtedly, yes.
00:07:53
Speaker
I feel pretty good about Sahid and Trent Hethi. Okay, but they're they're both underdogs against some people in their in their brackets. Against maybe more than one people in their brackets. It's all about perception. it's It's all about whether you think you're climbing the mountain or the mountain's climbing you.
00:08:14
Speaker
Moving on. um My laptop's climbing the mountain right now. I can see that. You need a new one.
World Championship Predictions
00:08:23
Speaker
Dude, this is literally like the first time this has happened. I don't know what's... It was happening earlier, and now it's... Because of all the cat hair. i don't know if there's any way that the mic picked up anything he said.
00:08:34
Speaker
You've got to eat the mic when you talk. that's okay okay It was irrelevant. Irrelevant. We're going to move on from that erroneous statement to 61 kilograms. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:08:45
Speaker
Did you give your predictions? Spencer Lee, Amon, Hartunian for bronze on the top side, and bottom side bronze, Mekdikonov.
00:09:04
Speaker
I like those picks. Those are my picks as well. Because you... That's lame. Yep. This weight is, like, not that interesting. It's pretty chalk. Really?
00:09:15
Speaker
don't think it's going to be as chalk as you guys think. Okay. I think more like taffy? Sure. Not like bottle caps, but more like Laffy Taffy. Laffy Taffy? alright 61 kilos Jax Forrest he's 18 years old turning 19 this year he oh or dick i want a donenna you so thick
00:09:44
Speaker
hope that somebody's warm up music tomorrow morning. yeah chris ah Jacks Forrest, be world champ to make the world team and very promising career and future.
00:09:58
Speaker
Is he ready to produce results now? Well, we're gonna find out. We're probably gonna find out pretty early in this bracket. He opens the tournament wrestling and the qualifying rounds against Han from Korea.
00:10:14
Speaker
Probably should be able to win this match. We'll see how he does against somebody you know on the senior level
PJ Duke & Austin Gomez: Dark Horses
00:10:21
Speaker
who is you know peaking for a world championship. We'll see what that looks like.
00:10:26
Speaker
um However... If he most likely does get past that first round match, in the round of 16, he will have Takara Suda, number four in the world from Japan.
00:10:41
Speaker
So this will basically be the test to see, okay, can Jacks force metal? Because Suda's probably the guy that you could safely...
00:10:58
Speaker
Reese just ate shit on the stairs for those that couldn't see. Reese tried to go upstairs that he's gone up and down. Probably a million times. Thousands of times. These are new socks. He's got new socks.
00:11:10
Speaker
It is socks on wooden stairs. so Oh, man. He's got Takara Suda in the round before the quarters. And it... It'll be interesting to see because can Jax Forrest implement his very unique, very confusing style against somebody who has ah very ah very athletic, a very dynamic, and just a high-quality wrestling IQ build, basically. this i mean I don't know. How much how much suit a film have you guys watched?
00:11:43
Speaker
Zero. Zero. Okay. None. All right.
The 70 kg & 65 kg Brackets
00:11:49
Speaker
to beat Takara Suda, he will most likely have number six in the world in the quarters, Jumashbek Ulu from Kyrgyzstan. And if he can beat Suda, he can probably beat Ulu.
00:11:59
Speaker
I like his chances against Ulu a lot better than Suda, that is for sure. Right, but to get to Ulu, you've got to beat Suda. That's the way it works. I mean, I get it. i understand. Now, and this is the matchup that I want to see. and we might see it on the front side, and we might see it Repetra.
00:12:14
Speaker
Semi-finals, if he gets there, he's got... Russia's Ugoev.
00:12:21
Speaker
This is the matchup that I want to see. He's number one wants to see it number one in the world right now at 61 kilos. Olympic champion, world champion. can Can a kid beat a legend?
00:12:35
Speaker
And I also want to see Suda against Ugoev. Well, yeah, but so now if force beats all of them, then they all wrestle each other. Yeah, I know. So... so
00:12:48
Speaker
if he manages to do all that and make it to the finals you'll probably have albania's abakar who's old he's getting he's up there in age he's getting up there yeah he's been around the block and you'll have you'll have some some tests on the bottom half of this bracket uh...
00:13:10
Speaker
you going to it's time while it was a nice game state mean I actually think I mean really don't see don't see any major tests tests for him on the bottom half this bracket okay ah i mean i actually think probably's only thirty two that's not that old i see okayre thirty three feel pretty old i mean really i don't see i don't see any major tests tests for him on the bottom half of this bracket
00:13:42
Speaker
I mean, I guess he's got... He's only going to see one. oh oh wow um The Iranian. He could have the Iranian. Say his name, Sammy. Say his name. The Mongolian's good, too.
00:13:54
Speaker
Mongolia. Very good. Muhammad Dinezi. ah The Mongolian. Too many bleg. Too many bleg. Too many bleg.
00:14:05
Speaker
Too many bleg. Okay.
00:14:10
Speaker
Yeah, the way I'm seeing it, the way I see it... Dylan Schauber? Yeah, no. Jax Forrest probably going to be a bronze medalist. Wow. What? What a hater.
00:14:21
Speaker
I mean, i've well I'm definitely not a Rutgers fan, i but I will recognize the fact that Dylan Schauber, while good and while he is prevalent on the Division I NCAA stage, he what is he isn't on the senior level.
00:14:39
Speaker
Dylan Schauber, I think he can run the whole thing. Also, have you noticed have you noticed Puerto Rico? It's just New Jersey. What's up with that? It's just New Jersey. Even Ethan Ramos is from New Jersey.
00:14:52
Speaker
I get it. The only person that that isn't from from the U.S. on the team is โ actually, is Jonathan Smith from Puerto Rico? It's because of it's because of Sebastian.
00:15:05
Speaker
Yeah, but he wasn't the first. Ramos was. I know, but... Vamos. But Sebastian has, like, plays a big part in, like, recruiting dudes. In getting Schauber. Yeah.
00:15:16
Speaker
And... And recruiting dudes that that kid wrestle for Puerto Rico. I mean, he's the reason the Bachmans wrestle for Puerto Rico. Okay. At least that's what I heard. You know more than I do. Actually. It's just what I hear. Yeah, and so, but also, you you say, you say, you say, that looks... to you said the same thing.
00:15:35
Speaker
ah You say, Dylan Schauber, I say... Josh Kramer. Checkmate. Checkmate. Where's he at? Ecuador. Third from the bottom. The equator.
00:15:48
Speaker
There is. He's got Iran first round. It's going to be a tough out immediately. All right. I'm going... Dex Swartz is either gold or bronze. he's He's probably not silver. If he can make it to the finals, he's probably going to beat whoever's on the other side.
00:16:04
Speaker
I just don't know if he's going medal right away. I want him to. think I'm going to go Suda Uguyev. Or, excuse me. Uguyev will be bronze on that side. Suda is gold.
00:16:19
Speaker
And then silver. And Abakar. I don't know who else to pick. I guess he's just the most decorated. For sure. For sure. you know And then bronze on that side.
00:16:35
Speaker
said one shot uh... well-known speaker on it uh... but this never is uh... yeah i can't hear it he's a second seed species competing a lot at these i was good i don't know have no idea right i'm data chair to so japan
00:17:02
Speaker
your heart out i'm gonna do I'm gonna do a goo of gold ah ah go of gold. ah Also, Udit from India is tough. Is he good?
00:17:16
Speaker
Yes. What, Ryan? Nothing. Keep going. And, okay, i'm going to go goo of gold, abakar of silver, because that's the way that works.
00:17:27
Speaker
And bronze is going to be Suda on the top, and then on the bottom, the Iranian. That's how laying it out. 65 kilos. Look at, have you guys seen the size of this bracket?
00:17:41
Speaker
I showed Reese. Yeah. That's a big bracket. It is. That's got 34 wrestlers. Now somebody asked me earlier today, why is it only like 30 something? Why isn't it like 60?
00:17:52
Speaker
Why isn't it 190? Yeah. All the countries. hundred and ninetytton so Can you name them all, Sylvie? Could you ever? I could get. one point time. At one point, yeah.
00:18:04
Speaker
Wow. I did the sporkle quiz enough times, I got it down. Wow. I could do probably 190. 180. um one i Well, so so i i I sent him the clip of Musakaya wrestling somebody from Palau, and I said, this is why there's only 30 to 40 countries wrestling at Worlds.
00:18:24
Speaker
Because if some of them went, this is what would happen. It would be bad. did you have Do you know what match I'm talking about? I picked it off. Yeah, I do. I think I do. I seriously think. If you guys have the time to watch it, it's Musakaya, but like the first round of Worlds of 2019. Yep.
00:18:40
Speaker
and he's And it's just like... like a cat playing with a mouse. It's bad. But moving on. Anyway. Palau, an island in Polynesia.
00:18:54
Speaker
What's my thoughts on 65? Yeah, I don't know if the people heard that, but that's your there's your your fact for the day.
David Carr & Other Weight Class Analyses
00:19:00
Speaker
Try again. Palau, for those of you who are interested, is a little island off my in Polynesia, right next to Fiji.
00:19:11
Speaker
I've always wanted to go to Fiji. Anyway.
00:19:17
Speaker
65 kilos. Real Woods wrestling for Team USA. He's the nerd. and And here is his path to make it to the finals and win a world title. He has Sakutan from Moldova.
00:19:30
Speaker
Round one. Who's not bad? I don't think. I've heard the name for a while. I don't know about any relevant results. And I don't, he's not, as far as I could tell, he wasn't ranked at the time of me looking at this.
00:19:41
Speaker
So I could see Real Woods getting past this first match. He could also lose it. we We have historically just not had success at 65 kilos. Round two, he has Amuzad.
00:19:52
Speaker
So we will know right away what he is made of. And he's wrestled Amuzad already earlier this year. It was actually like fairly competitive, wasn't it?
00:20:07
Speaker
It was 11-2. The first period was competitive. Yeah, the first period I think it was. think he scored first. Yeah, he got the takedown, and then I think it was 2-1 going into the break, and then he lost Yeah. Amozad bounced his head off the mat with that little, like, lat drop throw-by thing that he does.
00:20:22
Speaker
And I was like, Real Woods can't read after that. No way. mean I can't read after that. So we'll see what he, we'll see if Real Woods is, if what he's made of. And honestly, I'm a little excited for it, but also I think I know what's about to happen. Wow. Is that what happens?
00:20:44
Speaker
Reese has cats and they, got the zoomies and they're hunting, I guess. I don't know. They smell like mice upstairs, by the way. No, that was the that was we figured out we figured it out. we figured it out um If he beats Amazad in the quarters, you'll have Sujit from India, number four in the in the world.
00:21:02
Speaker
Now, the bottom quarter of the top half of 65 kilos is a wasteland. There's nobody there. So whoever they see, whoever the top half of top quarter sees in the semis, they're almost certainly going to win.
00:21:19
Speaker
And then ah the other person to make the finals from the other side is going to be Kotaro Kiyuka, most likely. Where is Sebastian? He's on the bottom half. Okay. He's on the bottom half. There's so many people in there. I've never even seen him.
00:21:32
Speaker
Yeah. So some some interesting. Yeah. yeah Yeah, I think the the bottom half is probably more densely packed than the top.
00:21:47
Speaker
You have Kiyuka, you have Tavanyan, you have Sebastian Rivera, or Rivera. You have Ibrahim Ibrahimov, who i actually kind of totally forgot about. Ibrahim Ibrahimov. He's great.
00:22:01
Speaker
Nachinkular from Kazakhstan. Yeah, the bottom half of this bracket. Colin Realbudo. We all know him. Um... Yeah, this the bottom half of this bracket will be pretty fun to watch. Kyuoka's going to have a tough time.
00:22:16
Speaker
Yes, and so a fun fact for you guys, if you don't know much of the history about 65 kilograms, the last time somebody won ah the 165 kilos back-to-back years, I think it was 2008.
00:22:31
Speaker
they said Something like that. It's been a minute. It's been a long time. Who was it?
00:22:39
Speaker
I also had this in my in my head. I have it somewhere on my Twitter. I'm about sick of you forgetting things, Sammy. I wish you would know anything. Anything.
00:22:52
Speaker
So I'm going to roll with Amuzad. For gold. Nachin? Nachin coming out of nowhere. of nowhere at a Out of Kazakhstan.
00:23:04
Speaker
Yeah, okay. Keep going. Silver. Doesn't even matter. Yes, it does. matters to me. the We'll come back to this.
00:23:15
Speaker
I know my picks. I'm Muzad for silver. Muzad for gold.
00:23:22
Speaker
ihi or Ibrahim Ibrahimov. Can I say Sure. What is a G or an H? sound ibrahi ibrahiov Ibrahim Ibrahim Ibrahimov for silver.
00:23:33
Speaker
um I'm going to say... I'm going to say Real Woods does get bronze as does Sebastian Rivera.
00:23:47
Speaker
Sammy? Interesting. You have the floor. I'm going to go, give me Amuzad for gold, Kiyuko for silver.
00:23:59
Speaker
Sujit, most likely. God, Woods could probably beat him, though.
00:24:08
Speaker
I'm going go with Sujit on the top half for bronze. Bottom half bronze is going to be Ibrahimov. I'm just saying, dude. if If Sebastian, he loves to knock people off in the bronze medal match. Yeah, I don't think he's going to get there as a problem. I think he's he's going to lose to Tivanyan.
00:24:26
Speaker
think Tivanyan's actually probably going to smack him down. You think so? Yes. the last time they wrestled, wasn't it like that? I know. No, no, no. No. So I thought they wrestled at Worlds, and he had that crazy comeback, and then I thought they wrestled each other again, and it was bad.
00:24:40
Speaker
I think you got reversed. Really? I do believe you also have it reversed.
00:24:48
Speaker
I'm gonna look something up then. Reverse, reverse! Yeah, fill while I'm doing this, please. Well, K-State was down 17-3. They have now tied the ball game 17-17.
00:25:03
Speaker
We've got a little bit of Wildcat on Wildcat action. They're playing the 2-0 Arizona Wildcats. And, yeah, honestly, ah kept I walked in and was like, man, it's just going to be a bad year for K-State. But I really think they might win this game. Reese, what do you think?
00:25:18
Speaker
think it's a classic mid-off. We've got two very average teams. I'm hoping K-State blows it. Or you know what? like maybe Maybe they should win that way KU. I mean, I feel like the more games they lose, the more pressure it puts on KU.
00:25:36
Speaker
So maybe they should win some more matches, some more games. All right. United World Wrestling posted a a clip on January 10th, 2024. It says, Vazgan Devon, it avenges his World Championship's loss.
00:25:47
Speaker
Okay. We were wrong, Reese. No. So. Na na na boo boo. Eat that. Womp womp.
00:25:56
Speaker
okay Yeah, 70 kilos. This is where it gets interesting. Maybe. Just got interesting.
00:26:07
Speaker
We have another child of America wrestling for Team USA. He's 19. He's not a child. Well, he's just graduated high school.
00:26:21
Speaker
PJ Duke. But he's not in high school. just a boy. He's just a boy. He has Chen from China in the opening round. He can probably get by that match. And if he does, he will have number one in the world, Kaipanov from Kazakhstan, who won this weight last year at the non-Olympic World Championships.
00:26:39
Speaker
Now, if he manages to win that match, which is not, it's not impossible. None of us thought that PJ Duke would even be here in the first place. Okay? So if you keep doubting him, get ready to be wrong, just like me.
00:26:55
Speaker
He will have Austin Gomez in the quarters. how it anyway be soft some be real with you you don't think there's anyway I also meet also got some of his pumps and assess where as you know it's funny is he's beaten he's being guys that have been asking yes yeah wait come on come on right there uh... is it uh... yeah henson in the world so close see how close he was we had to beat him right yeah henson did beat it but we're talking about andonia and donian and donian got destroyed by gomez last time they wrestled and she is too really about the government and also being done is henson was a fluke it was not a fluke that was luish such a controlled match threw himself to his back threw himself to his back yeah but it wasn't a fluke
00:27:47
Speaker
you think you really think it was a foot high now i'm not saying fluke but he did throw himself to his back i think the result could vary he was losing when he did that though here's the deal austin gomez inconsistent i think we can i think we can put that way he's he just did it's palmer he just be lance freaking palmer
00:28:11
Speaker
And the old heads know that that's a big deal. It is. Lance Palmer has a dad. Austin Gomez is inconsistent, but I feel like for some reason, when he goes up against the American reps, he's got a chip on his shoulder.
00:28:24
Speaker
It's true. Why? i Don't don won't ask me. i Talk to KJ. if Let's say it's true. Why would he? why Why would you do that yourself? You left. You decided to leave. We didn't ask you to.
00:28:39
Speaker
if If it were up to me, Austin... I would give you back citizenship so that you could wrestle for us. He's doing the Michael Jordan. and I took that personally. took it personally is You mean the Michael Jordan where he makes up stuff about people talking smack on it He might, honestly. that He admitted to it. people I know that's the best part of that. Okay, now if he gets by Kaipanov and Gomez and makes it to the semis, he's got Georgia's, Kermet to leads, or I threw in Tumur Ocher from Mongolia just because I think the guy's pretty good.
00:29:19
Speaker
I think we could see that happen. And now now we need to take a look at the top half of this bracket because P.J. Duke is on the bottom half. Top half, you have Russia's Kazirik, however you say it, ah number two in the world.

number Number six in the world, Akhmat Aliyev. Number nine in the world, Abyagi from Japan.
Key Matches & Wrestler Journeys
00:29:40
Speaker
Number eight in the world, Radisson from Tajikistan. And number 11 in the world, Andreyasan from Armenia.
00:29:47
Speaker
The way it's stacked... Dude, and the top half is ridiculous. And I'm missing somebody. Oh, Kanan Hebatov from Azerbaijan, also on the top half. What about Viktor Vinovich?
00:29:59
Speaker
Viktor Vinovich is in the bottom. Oh, he is on the bottom? no it No, he's not. He's in the top half. He's got Iraq, first round. If he manages to win that, he'll have the winner between Andreasan and Rassadin, which is a first round matchup.
00:30:14
Speaker
You know what else is a first round matchup? uh... islam to die of and ismail musukhiev that's an olympic bronze medal match musukhiev a shell of himself as he has been a seven kilos so far but that's still i mean so we have a yagi we have lot money if we have to see if we have to die we have music i have we have andrea son we have rassiden we have uh... yas donnie
00:30:44
Speaker
just there we have Iran's yes donnie so loud and we have a hay about top I this it's the cat and i mean no yeah the worst the cats actually in the frame which is nice
00:30:57
Speaker
here here's my here's my pick here's my pick I'm gonna say I'm gonna get I'm gonna go with do die of it gold Dude, what?
00:31:15
Speaker
Yeah. He's an Olympic bronze medalist. Yeah. He's like 30,000 years old. Wow. Really? Is you say about me? Hang on. is he Is he older or younger than Avakarov?
00:31:29
Speaker
He's got to be older. Really? What's his name? Islam Dudaev.
00:31:38
Speaker
thirty site he's thirty okay thirty thousand kick thirty thousand years old uh... so he's thirty he can win a world title
00:31:56
Speaker
i'm wrong i'm wrong with the diet well actually did the okay let me stop at the craps you get back take it back Take it back now, y'all. going to go with Ayagi winning gold.
00:32:09
Speaker
Kaipanov taking second. So it's a rematch from last year's World Finals with a flipped result. ah And I'm going to say Victor Rassadin takes bronze on the top half. And the bottom half, bronze, is going to go to Austin Gomez.
00:32:25
Speaker
I'm going to go...
00:32:31
Speaker
I am going, uh, yeah, Lil Yaz for gold. Silver is going to be. Hmm. So we're going to be Gomez bronze.
00:32:48
Speaker
Um, on the bottom side is Oh cheer. I actually designed to make sense. Yes, that does make sense.
00:32:59
Speaker
Yep, that's what i'm doing.
USA Team Updates & Closing Thoughts
00:33:01
Speaker
Oh, cheers, bronze on the bottom side and top side bronze gonna be...
00:33:10
Speaker
We'll do Dudaev, top side bronze. Yep, I feel pretty good about that. Right, Reese. Let's hear your inane nonsense after what Ryan ryan just said.
00:33:23
Speaker
Give me the Russian, Kazurik. That's fair. For gold, and then I'll take Gomez for silver.
00:33:34
Speaker
And then for bronze, I'll take Yazdani and Ocher. Interesting. i so like i I want to see Gomez pull that off.
00:33:46
Speaker
I just feel like I don't know if I can see him string together a set of wins like that. you can do it Austin. I don't know. You're a hater.
00:34:01
Speaker
Okay. 74 kilograms. You want them to build the wall. Didn't they build it? I mean, yes. It's being built. Is that a post? Is it being? do You want them to make it bigger.
00:34:13
Speaker
More height. Keep adding layers. 74 kilograms for Team USA and make it shoot guns, bullets. want to moat alligators.
00:34:26
Speaker
Erect a tower for the wizards. David Carr. Winning a world title is going to be a challenge. He starts it off with Shepiev from Macedonia. And then he will have Ramazanov, most likely, from Bulgaria. i'm I'm going to guess in the following round. And then in the quarterfinals, he will see Trimovalev from Albania, number one in the world right now.
00:34:48
Speaker
If he gets but past that match, and he will see in the semis Siddikov. And then if he gets past that match, most likely he will see Kota Takahashi, number three in the world, for the gold medal.
00:35:03
Speaker
So, in order for David Carr to medal at Worlds, one of the Lee Evans or Siddikov can't. And or.
00:35:16
Speaker
Yep, it can happen. I've got it I've got it right here. It's locked in. Okay. ah
00:35:27
Speaker
Here's what I'm going to say happens.
00:35:30
Speaker
I'm going to say...
00:35:35
Speaker
i'm going to say... Give me... Siddikov gold.
00:35:45
Speaker
ah Iran's Imami for silver, car bronze, and ah Takahashi bronze.
00:35:58
Speaker
The only thing going switch up.
00:36:04
Speaker
Your silver and your bronze on the bottom. Okay. That's saying what that is. I was going to say. Citicab bronze. Or gold. Car bronze on that side.
00:36:16
Speaker
But. Kota. Silver. And. Here's the thing. I'm on. He'll just never be able to to do it. He'll even make final. He just can't.
00:36:28
Speaker
thought he beating the finals. pretty sure he has. When? Against Dake? Oh, that was Imami, wasn't it?
00:36:41
Speaker
My bad. Pretty sure. I mean, Sidikov wasn't in the bracket, so... You're right. <unk> your
00:36:52
Speaker
Okay, Reese? Sidikov for gold. Takahashi silver car for bronze and
00:37:09
Speaker
so Big Salk. Give me Salk. Salkasana! Big Salk. Terrible pick.
00:37:20
Speaker
Idiot. Brain dead. Okay. ah I mean, yeah, maybe. We'll see. 79 kilos, Levi Haynes. Sorry, Chairman.
00:37:31
Speaker
It's going to be tough. He doesn't have a bad draw necessarily. I just don't know if he's got what it takes. Opening round, he has number 14 in the world, Saifudinov from Bahrain.
00:37:44
Speaker
If he can get by that, he will have probably a much easier match between Mitrov from Macedonia or from Korea. Now, if he gets the quarterfinals, he will have number one in the world, Usmanov.
00:37:57
Speaker
That will be big roadblock for him. i don't even know if he makes it. If he gets past, yeah, if he beats Saipudinov, if he beats his round of 16 opponent, and he gets to the quarterfinals, and he beats Usmanov, he will probably have Francis Kijiev in the semis, I think.
00:38:15
Speaker
But it could be, I mean, it could really be... a handful of other people that he sees in the semis considering they're all there's a bunch people under and any of them can win any set of matches and then if he makes it to the finals he'll have number two in the world na Cody from Iran I know how I think this brackets gonna play out do you?
00:38:38
Speaker
wait is Nacote the guy who beat Burrows last year?
00:38:43
Speaker
right? yes that's who I meant earlier I didn't mean might be I meant Nacote Yeah, Cody... He will not make... well He just can't. He can't do it. He can't string enough together to make the vinyls.
00:38:56
Speaker
i think he will I think he'll do it here. Not this time. I think Burrows beat him in the finals one year. I think...
00:39:05
Speaker
Damn it. I think he could this year if he didn't have to run into Michael Labriola. Mikey Labs. Is he also from New Jersey?
00:39:17
Speaker
No, he's PA. He's got to be PA. Not got to be, he is PA. Well, I mean, I said got to be. I think he went to Easton.
00:39:29
Speaker
I think I'm pretty sure that was the big connection between him and Brian Snyder.
00:39:35
Speaker
I don't think so. Look it up. Look it up, Jamie.
00:39:44
Speaker
Labriola. Love the guy. East MPA. Ah, shit. Probably... yeah we're going to hotbox cookies. Dude. Oh.
00:39:56
Speaker
but i'm Catholic. oh That's right. He went to Becca. He lived in Easton but went to Becca. Went to Becca under coach. Karam.
00:40:08
Speaker
Come on, guys. Come on. I don't remember high school coaches. Luke Karam, who wrestled for Lehigh. Come on. And he beat at Super 32. Date and Fix. Come on, guys. Wait, he really coached Labriola?
00:40:22
Speaker
What? Jeff, not Luke. Oh, okay. The father. That's why I was like... Or the uncle. don't know, something like grandpa maybe? don't know. Maybe not even related, just same last name.
00:40:33
Speaker
Just made me think of Kerem, who... I just remember... I remember seeing him and Vito be date and fix at Super 32 and thinking, wow. What do I know? like This was like 2015. The Karam was tough in high school.
00:40:47
Speaker
Back to 79 kilos at Worlds. I'm going to go Usmanov Gold, Nakody Silver,
00:40:56
Speaker
but but the but Evloyev Bronze? Maybe? ah And then... second you know on out on the gets bronze on the bottom it could be it could be whole thing was not there's just this is this is a weekly i'm gonna be really this week this week you ready give me yet with the forgoal for a week where is he
00:41:32
Speaker
Top of the bottom. Top the bottom? Top of the bottom. Nikoti Uzmanov second round. Wait. Wait, what? He'll get Uzmanov second round. Oh, I'm looking at 86 kilos. Hang on.
00:41:44
Speaker
Oh, yeah okay. Yeah, you know what? Reece, you be right. Your pits are locked in. Yeah, no, no. right, you're right, you're right. right Nikoti, silver. Kugi. Kugi for bronze.
00:41:54
Speaker
Kugi bronze? And Hanes bronze. Wow. Wait. So you think... Yes.
00:42:04
Speaker
Wow. i know you're
00:42:11
Speaker
Somebody needs to write these down and put them in the comments so that we have these because I'm not going to remember these pics after. I'll go back and listen. Okay. He's lying. That's okay. I'll do it. Promise.
00:42:23
Speaker
have that on video.
00:42:27
Speaker
I will also take the Georgian. I'm not going to pronounce his name. Say for me, Reese. Then you got it. Okay. For gold, and my silver pick is...
00:42:43
Speaker
I just had it. Who was I going to take? It's not going to be in the Cody. Yeah, i'm going to take Gulaev. gulaya for silver he's gonna take out nikoti nikoti will be sorry anyway i was doing a yeah why did you do that to me why did you chainsaw i was bored come on pick it up buster i'm taking uh nikoti for yaprak for bronze
00:43:16
Speaker
Yap rack. God. was yain He's always yapping. right Got a whole rack of yapping. ah Cool. 86 kilos.
00:43:27
Speaker
Boys, we could do it. This is probably our next best chance of getting a gold medal. I'll tell you what. Zahid has a a very easy path to the semis.
00:43:38
Speaker
He's got Daya from India, somebody from Algeria or Singapore, and then Gafrindashvili from Georgia in the quarters. Then in the semis, he will have Ghassanpur or Khadiv. Iran or Russia. Abulav.
00:43:55
Speaker
No. He can beat Gassimpoor. No. Probably not, but he could. No. Okay. And then, if he does make the finals after beating Gassimpoor or Kadiev, he'll probably have Kady Magomedov or Dalet Bekov or maybe, but this is probably more of an outside shot, Japan's Ishiguro. What about Ethan Reynolds?
00:44:18
Speaker
No. No. Probably not. DeJoyev's not bad, but probably not him either. I'm going to say most likely Kady or Dalet Bekov.
00:44:28
Speaker
uh... what about my way of course i don't think horses been thousand years old yeah i don't think he's been doing too hot lately agent everything that's like twenty four
00:44:42
Speaker
uh... in wrestling years okay this week is kind of loaded now the bottom half especially what yeah thanks um no that the three like the three best guys are are up top well i understand that but there are still some quality wrestlers at this weight two russians on the bottom uh... caddy think that's belarus right or yeah caddy is belarusian but he's always from same with the france guy mark i'm out of my mother that's one the benet burgey at u20s uh... watch have often twenty fifteen
00:45:25
Speaker
could you have to make it you say thank you i'm talking about somebody wrestle you twenties a couple years ago now i'm talking about this man that's who i'm talking about i looking at names i can't pay attention to you okay i'm go on that ah could cadi of silver or could he have bronze my bad ah idiot Okay, Zahid Gold, Caddy Silver, Kadiev Bronze, and Dalit Bekal Bronze.
00:46:08
Speaker
Magomedov Silver. Caddy Bronze on the bottom.
00:46:19
Speaker
Ron's on top. Gesimpur. Gesimpur. I like those picks. Those are also my picks. There you go. All right. Wait, did you pick Zahid for gold? Yes. Same time. Yeah, all right. 92 kilos. Trent Heidly raising the roof in Zagreb, Croatia.
00:46:36
Speaker
Qualifying round, he has... This is 92. north macedonians haidari is how i think it' that's pronounced around 16 he will share from switzerland or johnson from canada and then in the quarters he will have my sarads from georgia who he's wrestled and beaten earlier this year he makes that if he wins that makes the semis he will probably have karuglia from greece who he did wrestle earlier this year got the opening takedown against and then he the crew we have had to injury default out
00:47:07
Speaker
I feel good about him being able to make make it through these rounds and make it to the finals where he will have Iran's Firuzpour. And this will probably be... Ben Honest. Ben Honest.
00:47:19
Speaker
Ben Honest is down there. The two seed. he's the two seed because he's he's earned it.
00:47:30
Speaker
You also have Sakulov from Slovakia.
00:47:34
Speaker
And you also have ah Kazakhstan's Karuglyev, who is a U-20 bronze medalist, I think? I want to say maybe? or no, I think he know he beat Mirasola and made the finals this year. So i think he's a silver medalist, maybe a gold medalist this year.
00:47:52
Speaker
ah Yeah, this is, a I think this is Trent Heidly's way to make the finals in, and then I think I'm going to go Firouz, gold, Heidly, silver, top side bronze, I'm going to go Karuglia, bottom side bronze, I am going to go... you say the Russian's name? I'm gonna go Benhanis.
00:48:17
Speaker
This one? Mm-hmm. don't know, Gajji? Like, want me to get my gold mid-delf?
00:48:26
Speaker
Give me Heidly for gold. For Roospoor. For silver. bruliaf For bronze. And then who cares? but nice Thank you.
00:48:40
Speaker
yeah I will also take Trent for gold. I'm taking...
00:48:53
Speaker
Karugliev for silver. Bottom side bronze will take the Iranian. Top side bronze will take...
00:49:07
Speaker
Wait. Guys. That's Deepak Puna. Yeah. Holy crap. I'm taking Puna for bronze. On the top side? Yeah. Top side bronze. How?
00:49:18
Speaker
going to it. All right. No, I'm taking that back. i was going to take Karugliev before I said that. Take Karugliev. That's what I'm taking. 97 kilos. Kyle Snyder.
00:49:30
Speaker
No Sadjulayev. No Sadjulayev. Sad day for Sadjulayev. Sad... Julayev. Opening round, he will have Jakczyk from Slovakia. Quarterfinals, Baranowski from Poland. Semis.
00:49:45
Speaker
It's a revenge match against Yoshida. Or he'll wrestle Macharashvili. Either way, i think he pretty easily makes it to the finals where he will have pound for pound. easily? Nothing is easy when it comes to Kyle Snyder.
00:50:02
Speaker
I think i think this is this is a very clear path for him to make the finals where he will have pound for pound number one in the world, Ahmed Tazardinov from Bahrain.
00:50:13
Speaker
And we'll see how that match plays out. I am going to give my predictions. Tazurgenov gold, Snyder silver. Top side bronze is going to go to... Oh, Azarpira.
00:50:28
Speaker
Duh. Who honestly could beat Taz. And bottom side bronze is going to go to...
00:50:36
Speaker
Matarshevili. Sure. Why not?
00:50:41
Speaker
I'm going Snyder gold, Taz silver,
00:50:50
Speaker
bronze top side, Azapira, bronze bottom Yoshida.
00:51:02
Speaker
I like all those picks except for your final bronze. I'm taking... all they're not fair enough he is you not like the super old yes uh... for real just
00:51:30
Speaker
ah guys we have we have one weight left here
00:51:36
Speaker
And it's it's an exciting wait. I'm excited. The big new Baranowski 34. is thirty four Not that bad. Pretty old, but not that bad. Wyatt Hendrickson at 125 kilograms for Team USA is going to go through a list of tough opponents.
00:51:54
Speaker
He starts it off with Russia's Kurbanov, who he wrestled at U23s in 2023 and had a very exciting match that ended in a pin for Wyatt Hendrickson. And then he will have the Belarusian Kramionkow.
00:52:11
Speaker
number seven in the world now now bronco that's in the round of 16 in the quarterfinals he will have uh bahrain's sharipov who is number six in the world and in the semis he would have amir zare from iran that will be the match to watch uh and then in the finals if he makes it past all of those top 10 opponents he will have number two in the world mishvidishvili from georgia ah give it Give it to me. I have i haven't picked Wyatt Hendrickson to lose yet this year.
00:52:41
Speaker
Wyatt Hendrickson for gold. Meshwiedishvili for silver. Bronze on the top side is going to go to... flying again. What? He did not pick him to beat Gable Steveson. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. there's there's There's full evidence of it.
00:52:55
Speaker
I didn't. I picked him. All right, if you say so. You what happened, Ryan? Let me tell you what. We were sitting there at my table because you were you were on spring break and you were at my house.
00:53:05
Speaker
Okay. And I'm doing i'm doing the brackets. I'm doing the brackets and I say, I can't decide. I'm just going to go with my heart. And when I did that, I meant to pick one way and I picked Wyatt Hendrickson.
00:53:19
Speaker
And then we did our show and I said, I'm rolling with Wyatt Hendrickson. That's who I put on my bracket. that's It's all because of him. If he says that's how i went down, then I believe him. Okay. So, Wyatt Hendrickson Gold.
00:53:31
Speaker
silver machine she really topside bronze i am from mongolia uh... bottom side bronze is going to go to zari i'm gonna same as you except the only difference
00:53:55
Speaker
is your top side bronze. I'm gonna go with, hmm.
00:54:06
Speaker
My heart tells me to go with the Brazilian. I saw his name and I was like, yeah. That's awesome. I'm gonna go with ah Yamamoto.
00:54:18
Speaker
Japan's never had a good heavyweight. They're gonna have one this year. He's gonna take bronze. dude He's been in the game for a while. yeah well he's he's been He's been in the game for a a while. ki He's getting his medal, boys.
00:54:30
Speaker
All right. I'm going to take Zari for gold.
00:54:37
Speaker
And I'm going to take the mic away from you. Hey, I'm just doing what I did at NCAAs, and it worked. All right. Zari for gold. going go with your golly for silver.
00:54:48
Speaker
Okay, yeah. Diaz-Zeri for bronze and then Wyatt Hendrickson for the final bronze. Okay. ah So, folks. I'm glad it's going to pin Zari. It's going to be awesome. this This kicks off in four and a half hours. He's going to break that, man. As a matter of fact, I'm sure the competitors are awake.
00:55:13
Speaker
getting some food in their system, getting ready to head to the venue and warm up. ah So gentlemen, good luck. ah The four weights that we have going down here in four and a half hours, 61 kilos, 70 kilos, 86 kilos, and 125.
00:55:25
Speaker
So that is Jax Forrest, PJ Duke, Zahid Valencia, and Wyatt Hendrickson, all very exciting. To be honest, all 10 weights are super exciting. And an extra piece of information, if if you haven't seen it, if you'll you might see it on the singlets that the guys are wearing, the rudest Team USA singlets.
00:55:42
Speaker
On the right leg, you will see the initials BMA. It's for Ben Askren, who we all know, if we've been paying attention, has had a a tough go this summer.
00:55:54
Speaker
But he's he's made it through it, and this is meant to kind of honor and recognize the ambassador for the sport that Ben Askren has been so far. Um, so I think that's awesome. I think, I hope that it gives the guys out there representing team USA just a little bit more to fight for.
00:56:12
Speaker
Um, cause they know that that's what they're representing. So, yeah. Well said, very well said. Thank you. You guys have, uh, anything to tack on? Yeah. Um, September 12th, one more hour in the day. Uh, just want to give a special shout out to, uh,
00:56:29
Speaker
Lennon Coakley. Oh, yeah. First birthday today. Yeah. And, uh... She won. She did win. She won. She had a great day today. You know, um I had a great day today, too. It took me two guesses for a Gable game.
00:56:44
Speaker
Do guesses. You didn't even fix yesterday. I can't fix it, Ryan. screwed up my I can't fix it. Okay, I ain't got the time for it. One day I'll fix it, but for now I can't fix it. Okay.
00:56:55
Speaker
You messed up my street, you freaked out. You messed up my street, can think? It matters. Okay, everybody have a good day. if you If you somehow watch this. I will. What? I'm going to kick your ass.
00:57:08
Speaker
Have a good day. Goodbye.
