Speaker: Welcome back to another episode of the Barn Session. we are here. Not too long after U20s. Maybe longer than we planned for it, but we can talk about it.
Speaker: They did well. I mean, yeah. what's Really, I just want to say shout out. 10 for 10. That's a wicked. 10 for 10. Not all of them could could get gold.
Speaker: That's right. But that's more than okay. Bringing home 10 medals is how many outstanding. well was What was the spread? Was it 3-3-4? 3 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze? I thought 4 golds.
Speaker: Seidel. Bassett. Bassett and Boyle. 4 golds. 4 golds, 3 silver, 3 bronze. That's pretty good.
Speaker: Now, yeah, let's talk about Boyle. Boyle Boyle. boyle I didn't know Boyle was, ah I thought he was coming into college. I didn't know. He had another year high school. Yeah, another year of high school. And he was just, he just, what, he teched his way?
Speaker: He wasn't even ranked. He wasn't even ranked pound for pound. Yeah, he was. Not on, a not on, not on flows.
Speaker: Well. Yeah. That's embarrassing. He wasn't. You should be embarrassed. But we all know he's not embarrassed because, I mean, the rankings that he puts out on a week-to-week basis are, i mean, he should be ashamed.
Speaker: Who? David Bray. Bray. They're bad. Okay. um Yeah, U20 killed it. ah think they I think everybody either lived up to expectations or exceeded them.
Speaker: um Yeah. Seidel won. Bo Bassett won. Michael Boyle won. Aiden Sinclair won. Cortez took silver. ja James took silver. Maybe you could say that a lot of people maybe expected him to win, but I mean, a 13-12 match with a last-second takedown in the final, that's, you know, looking you're going to... Sometimes those are going to happen.
Speaker: um
Speaker: Yeah. Pretty good. Pretty good group. Dreshawn Ross took second.
Speaker: Yeah. That Iranian, that Iranian wrestled is tough though. Yeah. He was like ah I want to say he's like a savvier Kobe Merrill. Just like he moved a lot more. Yeah.
Speaker: He was, he was pretty, uh, it's pretty smart. Yeah. But yeah, that's a good, that's a good group. Um, One question for you.
Speaker: How did we do with our predictions? ah ah How did we do? Not great. It couldn't have been bad. only had us not to go too naked not only had us not making two medals.
Speaker: and mean no Which is pretty outstanding. You have our predictions right?
Speaker: I don't remember what mine were. I have no idea what mine were.
Speaker: don't remember at all. I don't think I had mass knee or Boyle placing. I don't think I had. That's right. No, I had Boyle taking bronze. I did not have Burton or Mass burden.
Speaker: Burton. That's right. That's why I meant Burton. What i say? It sounded like you said burden. Like Ethan Burton. Oh, my bad. um I'd have to go back and listen. Mega Dave was not right.
Speaker: suit yourself um yeah why would you say that with with uh bo bassett's performance how do you feel about his part barring him beating real woods and making the senior world team how do you feel about his expectations what are your expectations for him entering the idea of wrestling as seniors Well, for starters, you know I think a lot of it has to do with the draw, obviously, where he's going to get put it into the bracket. if If I could see that right now, then I would feel comfortable making a prediction. But, I mean, because if he gets in the right spot of the bracket, he could medal. If he gets a Sebastian Rivera-type draw, you know.
Speaker: and Or even a Real Woods-type Real Woods... type draw oh real woods I mean, yeah. He had almost round two, didn't he? Yeah. He kind of... i mean... I'm not... Listen. His backside, his repressage matches weren't like crazy tough, but still.
Speaker: That's what i'm saying. Yeah. let I'm going to pull up 65 kilograms because I think that there's a list ah of like guys who... think there's a tier at 65 that I don't see Bo Bassett having ah ah real shot against. And that's going to be like um your Amuzad, your Sujit.
Speaker: Is Kyuka wrestling? I don't know. i was That's why I stopped myself because I wasn't sure if he was wrestling or not. Yeah. I don't know. I can't remember if he is or isn't. Um, Mamadov, uh, Nachin Kular.
Speaker: i don't know about that. Um, Bergimov. Yeah, maybe. Uh, yeah maybe ah I don't know. I think i think there's a i think there's a list. Jalalov. I don't know. That that one... I'm not sold on one way or the other. Jalalov.
Speaker: I feel pretty good about a lot of about a lot of these guys from being honest. But then there's a like four or five that... Not so much. Like him against... ah ah Mongolia.
Speaker: What's his name? Is he in there? Yeah. I don't like he wrestling isn't i was say, I don't know if he's going to be wrestling 65. Gosh, what is his name?
Speaker: I just said it. but Oh, yeah. to moreros here oh yeah no cheer has he ever Has he ever lost to an American?
Speaker: don't think so. Hasn't Seabass beaten him? He counts. Oh, yeah. No, it's a Puerto Rican. Nope. That's a Puerto Rican. They're Americans. Yeah, but they don't... like I'm talking about somebody who's ra representing the United States of America on the international scene.
Speaker: I don't think he ever has. The cord came out of my mic. I don't know if we've been hearing you from your mic this whole time. don't think it was ever plugged in.
Speaker: Do you want us to take a quick tech break and see if we can fix that? Because so far it's been sounding like there's been styrofoam rubbing up against your microphone. Hold on.
Speaker: Hold on.
Speaker: I can't change it mid. We're going to take a quick break. All right. We're back. I don't know. i don't know really if I don't know what things look like for Bo Bassett. Obviously, he has to get past Real Woods, who's a world bronze medalist. So...
Speaker: um
Speaker: I just feel like... Ryan, I want to give like your point that you made when we were texting each other about Bo Bassett.
Speaker: I want to give it some credit. I think he is just a little too open. Like, he... he relies on his pace to a point where in order to enforce that pace, he exposes himself to, you know, a lot of opportunities that I think that that tier of opponent are going to really be able to take advantage of.
Speaker: Now maybe he locks it down a little bit. That's kind of what I'm hoping for. With him and Tavanyan looks like. That's so funny. i asked the same thing. i asked the same thing when we were figuring out your mind. Bo would wear him down. and it would it would He would score like six points in the last minute and and win by three or four or something like that.
Speaker: ah think Tavanyan would get tired. That'd be interesting. It'd be interesting to see if he could if he can do what, if he can impose his will on a guy i like Tavanyan.
Speaker: Yeah, that's, I think if he can do it against him, then maybe the only person he can't. I don't know. The Russians um are always tricky. Amazad, yeah. And maybe Sujit. I think Sujit wrestles pretty hard the whole time, too, anyway. Abbas Gatsi would be kind of interesting, too, I guess.
Speaker: Yeah. If he's big enough. I don't know. That's a good question. But, yeah. Plenty to look forward to in that regard, which we won't we won't know what the team is for another month um when all three of the delayed wrestle-offs happen.
Speaker: ah And then Worlds is a month after that. So we've got some time, some time to speculate. And in the meantime, we're going to look at some college lineups.
Speaker: Who are we starting with, Nebraska or Virginia Tech? Let's start with Cornhuskers.
Speaker: Start with that trophy team. All right. Well, they got they got a pretty big pickup over the summer with Vincent Robinson. He'll probably be their starter at 125. What?
Speaker: i hate you Followed by two-time All-American Jacob Van de
Speaker: Right? Yeah, two-time. Then Jack Hockaday. think Jack Hockaday will probably be the guy at 141. Jake.
Speaker: That's what meant. My bad. I do that all the time with him too. um They have some other, yeah no but it's Jake. They have some other options at 41 with Omar AO, but guess, you know, he's, a he looked pretty good in, in some opens last year. And then incoming freshmen, Lincoln sled Zinowski. I heard they're pretty excited about him, the prospects of having him on their team. So, What about Zinken? Is he still in high school? 49. He'll be 49.
Speaker: ah Just imagine the back-to-back duo of Lincoln and Zinken. to be good. oh I'm thinking of Rockland. Is Rockland still in high school? No, he's a freshman at Oklahoma State. You stay just got beat by Rockland. Let that Zinken. Come on, race we've we've been we've we've been here.
Speaker: I had Zinken in my... yeah That's his brother, right? I have 41 being Jake Hockaday.
Speaker: And then 49, another good pickup. And Anthony Etchimendia by way of Ames, Iowa. What'd you say, Sam?
Speaker: Big Tony. Sure. I don't think anyone calls him Tony, if I'm being honest with you. Like a little Tony Montana.
Speaker: it's and We can't even see him to really appreciate it. Yeah, it's alright. 57. I'm on no dishwasher. ah You guys haven't even Scarface, have you?
Speaker: no Yes, I have seen it, but I mean, years ago. I was like 13 or 14 years old. That's a shame. I watched about 15 minutes of it in college.
Speaker: And then what? and what And then we left to go somewhere else. i don't remember. um So yeah, Anthony Etchimendia followed by on Trail Taylor, national champ, turning runner-up, On Trail Taylor.
Speaker: Then i promising sophomore, LJ Arugia, if he can kind of... Keep it rolling. He got he got steadily figured out. What do you Figure it out. He got getting together. he got still to EJ Park. Oh, yeah. EJ is good. What?
Speaker: Parkers are good. Unbelievable. He'll figure it out. ah Christopher Minto, who without Levi Haynes, it looks to be the favorite at 174. Then they they got a what?
Speaker: You don't think so? No, I would agree. You were reminded me, though, of what we were talking about before we recorded. just Just saw a ah tweet talking about how Jaden James, not on the Penn State roster on track wrestling, but the other true freshmen are.
Speaker: What does that mean? Looks like Sammy might be right. Looks like Sam... Looks like... looks like PJ Duke might not be in the lineup. PJ Duke is going to be the 74-pounder. I don't know about that. it Is Messenbrink the guy? is that what's happening? No, I think it's going to be Hinkle Crinkle. what So why... Hinkle McCringleberry. What's the deal Slow having Duke at 65 and Messenbrink at 74? They're manifesting it.
Speaker: Really? They're mesinfesting it. You don't think they know anything? No, they're throwing it out there. they knew something, they would say something. They're pretty transparent about the things that they know about. They're just throwing it out there. And then when it happens, they can be like, yep, we were the first ones to do it.
Speaker: yeah piles very slow i new let's be like Yeah, I heard about this a while ago. That's very unlike like any kind of rank, like anybody ranking. It's unlike ah like a whatever. What what am I? What's the word I'm looking for?
Speaker: an established media trusted source. Yeah. A new source. That's unlike them. to They're not journalists. Wait to just move up a two time national champ. Move them up to a weight that he's never wrestled that.
Speaker: I mean, they they they put the Larkins up. Well, it's because we know they're going 74 and 49. We do know that for a fact. Pretty much.
Speaker: And do we know that Gabe Arnold is going down? it's I mean, they've been talking about it like it's like it's happening. I don't think it's assumed. I think it's... I think... Here's what I think. I think Flow Wrestling wanted to... They just did the interview with Kale Sanderson. I think they want to fluff Penn State as much as they can in their rankings. And so they're like, how do we get a number one Penn State wrestler at as many weight classes as we can?
Speaker: Let's put PJ Duke at number one at 65 and Mesmerich number one at 74. I don't think so. That makes no sense. Hmm. It doesn't make any sense to you.
Speaker: How does that make sense? It just feels like, you know, throw him little bone. yeah you Look, Penn State, look how great you are. Look at how great. Look at your greatness. Why would they put Henkel in over James? They didn't put Henkel in over James. What are you talking about? what year you know that's what sammy Sammy would. Sammy would.
Speaker: sammy Sammy would have, even if James was on the roster, Sammy thinks it's going to be Will Henkel. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. why would I just like do that i like Will Henkel. I'm not saying that this is the logical reason. This is what I want. This is me being selfish. I want Will Henkel to be in the lineup. I i like the wrestler Will Henkel.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Personal bias. Yeah. now And think he's pretty good. Well, this all makes me think that James isn't in the lineup. That makes me think. Messing breaking is definitely going 74. What? You said he's not in the lineup on what? Track wrestling? or Yeah.
Speaker: What does that even mean? First off. You submit your official roster there. you have Yeah, yeah for for the body fat composition stuff. So that means? And keeping track of other things.
Speaker: but I don't think it's 100% facts. i think i think because I think you can shift things in and out. Correct me if I'm wrong, Ryan. um But the fact that the other true freshmen are in there when Jayden James isn't, maybe it's because he was wrestling at U20 Worlds and so he couldn't do all the paperwork stuff.
Speaker: Maybe. Maybe. I don't know. Or maybe you know he can he's only 18 years old, so if he really wanted to, he could take a gap year. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: Interesting. which would Honestly, it would make sense lineup-wise if he did that. If he's not going to lose eligibility, take a gap year. Yeah. yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker: Is he the only one that can do that? The only one meaningful, I guess. Yeah, the only one. And the only one I can think of off the top of my head. Okay, back to the lineup. back to Yeah, back to Nebraska. So, Minto, the favorite now, now that Levi Haynes is as of right now, not able to compete, um followed by former Nittany Lion, Lucas Cochran. I like this pickup.
Speaker: ah I don't believe he's wrestled at 184, though. At all, correct? i think so. No. I know he's done some heavyweight matches and some 97 matches, but anyway, that's where they need him. They need him at 84 because they have two-time All-American Camden McDaniel at 197 and then promising young freshman Cade Zayola at 285.
Speaker: Or Harley Andrews. Take your pick. No.
Speaker: It's going to be, it's going to be Cade Ziola and he's probably the guy I'm the most excited for on this Nebraska lineup. Um, just with the the landscape that heavyweight has this year, I think he has the ability.
Speaker: Yeah, exactly. I think he has the ability to put himself in that top tier.
Speaker: good Could be good. Easily. so Good. And then maybe we have a a freshman national champ. Maybe. Maybe. mean if it's if If that's happening, it's probably Dreshaun Ross.
Speaker: Or Merrill. Or Kobe Merrill. But probably Dreshaun Ross. um
Speaker: how do How do you feel about that Nebraska lineup? I think this is a good lineup. Is so that the third best lineup in the country? don't know if it's the third best lineup in the country. I also don't think this is their best lineup. Oh.
Speaker: Oh, go ahead. By all means. If you look at it on paper, probably their weakest link right now is at 141. It's Jake Hockaday.
Speaker: Now, could be untrue. He could go out there and he could he could light it up. and he could He could prove the expectations wrong. um But... Etchman Diaz spent some time down at 41.
Speaker: And... Meyer Shapiro has reported that he can wrestle 49. Now, this might be old news, but... I don't know.
Speaker: That's not happening, Sammy. I thought Meyer said he wanted to take the year off. I'm pretty sure that's what's happening. But maybe Brian Snyder and Mark Manning are casting some spells. telling su Whispering things.
Speaker: I don't know. I really don't. and and i don't i don't I don't expect that to happen. um
Speaker: But yeah, this is ah this is this is a pretty tough lineup. If they they can get more consistency out of their they're guys like Van D and LJ, McDaniel, and then we'll see what kind of things we can truly expect from Lucas Cochran, Cade Ziola,
Speaker: Vincent Robinson, if he can get himself back into that tier one at 125, or I guess just further up tier one. um Then we'll see what Etchamendia looks like at 49 and Devontrell Taylor can keep it up at 57 as well. Minto, this there's a there's a pretty, I think their ceiling, I think their ceiling is third place.
Speaker: Yeah. You don't think it's like fourth. You don't think they can, you don't think they can possibly be okay. State. I'll tell you what my, my projections are they're completely out of reach. Oklahoma state is.
Speaker: Yeah. I mean just with the, with the, with the way things look right now, uh, three returning national champs,
Speaker: And it I think with Oklahoma State, I'm going to pull up their lineup real quick. you it's It's a matter of, I think, no, it's a good point, Ryan. Because really, the question becomes, what happens between 65, 74, and 84 with Oklahoma State?
Speaker: ah It's not happening. They're not they're not beating Oklahoma State. Probably not. much money? in i mean, i put money I put a lot of money on that, too.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. yeah prop Yeah. Um, what you would need you like, you would need a down performance from Oklahoma state and, uh, and the peak, like, like Nebraska, maybe even goes beyond their perceived ceiling, their perceived best possible performance. Um, and that's just probably that just most likely doesn't happen.
Speaker: Um,
Speaker: yeah.
Speaker: But they've got some they've got some good guys in this this back part of the lineup, or this, ah I guess, the the next 10, their B team.
Speaker: With Kale Lauritsen, Omar Ayub, Nikade Zinken, Shapiro. Nolan fellers is that? okay Wow. Look at that old tad Forsyth.
Speaker: Yep. He's in there too. He's the only other 97 pounder listed. Look down here. i see that. Nice. Um, but yeah, it's going to require,
Speaker: I think Nebraska gets a trophy. Now, whether it's third or fourth, that's up to the details.
Speaker: Yeah. power I mean, I think they're solid solidly third place. Solidly? Even with Virginia Tech looming? I think Virginia Tech is a little bit behind them.
Speaker: And then little bit behind Virginia Tech is Stanford and Iowa. How many do you have any champs for Nebraska? One? No. chance. I mean, i Minto and Antro, I have them getting second place points.
Speaker: Where do you have Vince at? Fourth. Ooh. What do you have? Do you have this eight for Cade? you have eight All-Americans? Yeah, i have them. Yeah. some yeah Eight All-Americans.
Speaker: Interesting.
Speaker: I'm trying to decide what photo I'm going to put up of you, Reese, since there's no footage of you. Draw one of him. so my you I might just. My
Speaker: my YouTube profile. No, no, sir. um
Speaker: yeah Yeah. So. We were we were looking at some of the lineups and. You mentioned Stanford.
Speaker: i think Stanford has the ability to do pretty well, like top five. But I also say i think they've got one of the lower like lower floors out of this top group team-wise.
Speaker: why cause ah i see that I think they have a lot of guys who can who can fall short of expectations. Well, like, Parco and Posada and maybe Consiglio, too. I mean, honestly, I'm not even thinking about it. I think Posada is not pretty solid. and i just Yeah. in i Those are my expectations, at least. But, like, Aiden Valencia would need to re like took to back up a national champ performance.
Speaker: Nah, top five is is fine. Yeah, but so like, i let me let me let me make myself clear. In terms of like where they are currently in the rankings with like where they have Hunter Garvin at 74, Tyler Knox and Nico Provo, they, or at least Nico, took some losses last year that were like, okay, is he really going to be able to do well, and then he goes out and he takes third. ah Yeah, I think after that performance, I'm like, I'm sold, and I feel like he's a ah guy. He's like the only guy, in my opinion, who can challenge and all.
Speaker: Him, yeah. That's, yeah. um But, like, I think the biggest thing for him is health, which is always a concern for everybody, but he's got a little bit more of a story, history behind it. But,
Speaker: We can talk deeper about the Stanford lineup whenever we actually look into it. um What else about Nebraska?
Speaker: I don't know. i'm mon i think you're floors I think your floor is too high for him, Sammy. I think i think this team could easily slip out of trophy range.
Speaker: Yeah, like they have fifth or sixth. this this is Yeah, for sure. Yeah. but so so talk to tell me tell me some like major pieces that fall for them to lose the trophy. I think have guaranteed All-Americans 25, 57, 74, 97.
Speaker: I think they have guaranteed All-Americans. Yeah.
Speaker: fifty seven seventy four
Speaker: ninety seven i think they only have four guaranteed all
Speaker: And then, like, 33. 33 I feel good about, but, like, they could not. They could not place. 41, obviously, is a big mystery. 65 could not place. 84 could not place. now Honestly, 97 could not place.
Speaker: No. Yeah, I know. As I said it, I was like, hey, except 97. Hey, McDaniel, I honestly feel like McDaniel could probably crack into the top four this year. Yeah, he's established himself.
Speaker: Him and like Taylor, man. I feel like Taylor, after watching him last year, I'm like, shit, he's going to... When the time comes, he'll he's going to be really, really hard to beat at the national tournament.
Speaker: Him and Minto. Taylor. and and Chris Minto, McDaniel, and Robinson. And maybe Etchamundia. But those four, I would say, are like the rocks.
Speaker: Yeah, that's fair. that's fair if If you had to like... The Dwaynes. They are the Dwaynes. Like they're going to need to be. Mark Manning is Dwaynes. They're going to need to be seriously injured for them to not be on the podium or sick or whatever.
Speaker: Yeah. That's fair. That's fair. um Yeah.
Speaker: I agree. And then, yeah, they'll need like, they'll just need Fandy. Araujo. Cochran and Zioa I feel like they'll need those guys to step or I mean not really step up but just wrestle their best showstle to their performance to their whatever expectations to their expectations yeah to satisfy so satisfaction and uh oh my gosh just totally lost my train of thought well good job anyway you were saying somebody was saying something
Speaker: Well, I was going to ask if we want to move on to Virginia Tech. I'm ready. You ready? You sending out an email? Yeah, I'm ready for this. Oh, yeah. Hold on. This team, I will say this team. I'm trying to finish the barn session rank preseason rankings, Sammy, before the season gets here.
Speaker: I have no help. Nice. No help from you guys. So I do it on own. What? You've never even asked us if you want to. Yeah, what the heck? Yeah, we're going to work together weights up. we um I mean, that I'm fine with splitting weights up.
Speaker: Yeah. Even though I have most of them started already. I can't. what What was the one that we disagreed on heavily? 49. What was it?
Speaker: I can't remember. I don't remember. How much was to find it? Send an email. I sent you an email. You sent me an email? Invite. you sent me a photo of paper.
Speaker: You sent me a photo of paper. You're also invited to the document that I made. So try again. that ech um Yeah, having Joy down at just...
Speaker: just
Speaker: You guys want to separate weights right now? good. I'm good. Oh, and you just don't have Cortez at 125, so. What do you want me to put not going to lie to you, Sammy. I won't sugarcoat it.
Speaker: Cornell got the shit end of the stick for my for my projections.
Speaker: And what's your problem? I have Cortez at right below leo yeah okay
Speaker: That's not... Wait, ranked 25th? Yeah. Oh, I guess preseason. That's fine. I thought these... are i was i'm um I'm doing projections right now. No, no, no. I want to do preseason rankings and then do my my crystal balls, as they say. Well, then what is Larkin doing ahead of Markel Baker?
Speaker: And what he doing at 33? know. I probably forgot to move him out. Unbelievable. So, I'm professional. Yours needs to be refreshed because I don't have him at 33. I'm still looking at your paper. No, stop doing that. Don't look at the paper. Well, it's right here. what do you want? The paper's outdated. Go to the email. Are we going to do these rankings, or are we going to— I hate that. I can't see you guys. I hate it.
Speaker: Well, then, get— What is wrong with Zencast? Virginia Tech, ready? Get a new laptop. Is that you're going to say? No. I need a lot of new things, Sammy.
Speaker: Laptop is low. I got a really big team. We need some really nice things. Here we go. Ready? There's a few questions I i do i am going to propose about this lineup after we get through it. right? So 125, the veteran Eddie Ventresco.
Speaker: guys feel good about that one? I do. um Cornerstone of the Hokies. Yes. Okay. 133 Aaron Seidel back for year two.
Speaker: um Could be Dylan Campbell, but probably won't be probably will be Seidel Bassett 141. Right. 141 Bassett. Everyone feel good about that one?
Speaker: Hits it at forty nine, which I heard he was struggling to make 70 kilograms, but I guess. Oh, What, Sammy? That's not good.
Speaker: Hmm? What, Sammy? Why are you making that look, that face? What look? What look? After I said that Caleb Henson struggled to make 70 kilograms, how is he going to make 40? What did do? My eyes were closed.
Speaker: No, my eyes were. I was like this. Closed in. I'm thinking. Let me think. Can I think? All right. 57. Sidebar. All right. right I'm looking at miss Missouri's roster right now.
Speaker: They have Everett Joyce listed on their roster. How can that possibly be? Everett Joyce is like who a junior in high school. No, he graduated early. Like two years early? No, no. He's 19, dude.
Speaker: He was going to be a senior. Oh, my goodness. He was going to be a senior, but he was 19. Yeah. Who's Everett Joyce? That would explain why he was so ah developed.
Speaker: again He's 19 years old, so he needed to get to college now so he doesn't lose that's a year eligibility. good that they got him. He should be really good, I hope. Eventually.
Speaker: Wins over Lucas Ricketts, Keaton Moeller, Marion Hutcherson. thought it was Mario Hutcherson.
Speaker: Two-time freestyle state champion for Wichita Training Center under head coach Noel Torres. Can we get back to the lineup, fellas? 104 at Mays High School under head coach Tyler Gonzalez. Shout out, Ty G. Shout out.
Speaker: Okay, go ahead, Ryan. I'm starting over. At 125, we have the veteran. fuckinged hates He was barely older than Bo Bassett.
Speaker: He's older than Bo? Barely. Like a couple weeks. So he just turned 20? Because Bo just turned 20. Oh, no, no. He's a year behind Bo. Okay. All right. All right.
Speaker: right. But i mean, like he's a little older, you know, like for class is what I'm saying. So he could have. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What would have happened if he would have? Well, he probably just – It's just cutoff, isn't it?
Speaker: He just – He would have lost his year. a year there's still There's still speculation that Bo's not getting all five years. Yeah, but he will. He will. I think he will. I'm just saying what there is. Anyway, Ventresca at Henson at 49, Guy at 57. Do you guys feel good about that first half? How do you feel good how you guys feel about that first half? of the hoaxies I feel like that first half is gnarly. One of the gnarliest first halves that we we could have this year.
Speaker: Could be. Yeah, it's gnarly. You're looking at all, I mean, with the exception of Guy, and the you know, first four weights could be finalists, all four those weights.
Speaker: to If Eddie Ventresco makes finals at 125, I feel bad. Well, he could do it. He could, and I would hate it. Yeah. Unless he gets a new gear.
Speaker: I don't know. ah And Guy took what at 49 last year? took seven. He did not take seventh. Seventh was owned by Cross Wasilewski. That's right.
Speaker: And then seventh was Casey Swiderski. And then Chance Lamer took fourth, I believe. Yeah, that's true. So he took sixth. Third went... Because I think could be by Ryder Block for fifth sixth. Aiden Valencia.
Speaker: Shane Van Ness. Pardon me. Lachlan McNeil. Chance Lamer? Yeah. Ryder Block? Yeah. Colin guy? Yep. Cross. You drug you druged that out so much. i was did you Did you want me to be able to figure it out faster? Just say.
Speaker: All right. Here we go. 165. I have an inning, Jared. Could it also be Mac Church? Hmm. He's got some wins.
Speaker: What about this scenario? What about this scenario? Does Melvin Miller have to graduate at semester and get get going right away? Is he 19 years old already? ah He's turning 19 this year.
Speaker: So what does that mean? He's not even 19 yet?
Speaker: um Wait. did he Because he didn't wrestle U-17s last year. That was two years ago they d wrestled U-17s. so he's yeah um So he's definitely turning 19 this calendar year.
Speaker: Pretty sure. Is that bad? What's the cutoff? um Well, if he turns it that's good if he turns it after today or tomorrow. yeah he'll be fine he He can wrestle this semester. i just don't think going to it.
Speaker: Why not? Because if they were, if i I feel like they would have gone into that already. This is is the Jack's Force thing all over again. Yeah, it is. Yeah, it is.
Speaker: You're going to look stupid all over again. Egg on your face. was weren't they had Weren't they planning on not doing that because they had Richie Figgs at 33 and they thought that this could, you know.
Speaker: it was always It was always happening. It was always happening. Then why didn't happen sooner?
Speaker: do you mean? I think he had to finish high school. He needed to do seven semesters. Okay. Maybe. okay don Don't act like that's not... Yeah, what? No, like that's that's like for some reason I'm thinking like he could just finish high school a year early. he could You know? okay I don't know how it works. I don't know how you finish his seven semesters. I don't know how to do it. if you mevin If Melvin Miller were to finish high school early, do you think he's the go-ahead guy at 165?
Speaker: I think so. do you put faith Noah? I don't think you bring him in that, like, a a full semester early or whatever if you're not putting him in the lineup.
Speaker: Reese, did you did you did you see a comment from last episode about Noah an Injur? Is he a beast? Well, no, but he did beat Casey Swiderski this summer. Oh, well, we talked about that.
Speaker: Yeah, well, we talked about, we said, why is Noah Ninders ranked so high? I'm like, yeah, why is he ranked ahead of Casey Swiderski, and this is why? Oh. Because he beat him. It was in freestyle. I thought talked about that.
Speaker: I mean, I don't remember. Maybe maybe we texted about it, actually. We talked about Ruiz and how Ruiz beat Broutledge. Swiderski, Footloose, Lockett. Swiderski and Lockett.
Speaker: Yeah. Um, either way, then I give, I honestly, I don't know. I don't know what, what it looks like between integer and Melvin Miller. Melvin Miller is good, but I think he needs a little bit more time to like really hit that level that he, that he should be at whenever he gets what's melvin miller onto the lineup.
Speaker: What's Melvin Miller's floor and ceiling? Right? Like, if he were to wrestle this year. 165. Mitchell, don't go Flo's rankings. Oh, 65.
Speaker: Yeah, but how high? And don't go with Flo's rankings. Mitchell Mitchell's rankings is there. Second. He could do second place. No. No. He can beat Joey Blaze, bro. What do you mean? I don't think so. 100%.
Speaker: Mm-mm. Joey Blaze is going to beat him by a takedown. Mm-mm.
Speaker: A confident takedown. Second place, he says. A golden takedown. So if Mitchell Misenbrink isn't there, you think Melvin Miller can come in and win it right away? No, because Misenbrink isn't there, Duke is there.
Speaker: Yeah. Duke... Was Duke's closest match at U20s through U20s last year, was it against Melvin Miller? I had some close ones with Robyn Dow, too.
Speaker: Wasn't it like Very close. Yeah.
Speaker: um i don't know i think i think i think melvin miller in college folk style i think his ceiling at 165 is i want to say fourth but i'll say third and then his his floor is yeah because who's beating him or who who is who can he not beat Like, who can he not beat?
Speaker: I think, style-wise, I think he would struggle against Joey Blaze. i don't think I don't think he would be able to beat Bryce Heppner, either.
Speaker: Can't take him down. He doesn't need he just needs to catch Bryce Heppner on, like, Bryce Hefner is bad most of the time or like doesn't care or whatever. i know what you mean. Like he's open.
Speaker: Dude, I saw watching Russell Vincenzo and like give Vincenzo a good match like five years ago. And I was like, this dude is really good. And then he proceeded to like have a terrible, honestly, a terrible career up until last year, last March.
Speaker: He rose from the dead. Respect him. Yeah. And like, he had some unfortunate things happen. Like i remember at Big Tens one year, he was like either severely concussed or his knee was blown out. I can't remember what it was.
Speaker: um And I think maybe Ohio State had a little bit of favoritism towards Patty. and Maybe they had a reason for that. I don't know.
Speaker: I imagine the reason is because Bryce is extremely inconsistent and kind of, ah I don't know, he's an interesting guy. I don't know what happened there in that match against Messenbrink. And I don't know. I'm watching his interviews. He's a strange dude.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. he's've I've heard that he's an individual. Aren't we all?
Speaker: I hope so. Are we all individuals? Aren't we all individuals? He's an outstanding individual. how about that? Outstanding. Outstanding.
Speaker: He stands out. um Yeah, i look, I think Neninger at 65 is going to do pretty well. what He got a win over Will Denny at Indy I last year, right? I'm pretty sure. Yeah. um So i would I would feel good about him.
Speaker: Yeah, what about what about our back four, Ryan? Well, we got U20 World Bronze Medalist Ryan Burton at 174.
Speaker: Rock solid. I actually am becoming more more of a believer in this kid's abilities. Not going lie to you.
Speaker: He's a beast. Was he at 65 last year?
Speaker: don't have that answer for you. Ryan Burton, I believe, was. Yes. ru Did he wrestle... at the He beat Will Denny. That's right. No, no, no. Burton.
Speaker: What? You said Noah Nininger beat Will Denny. I think it was Burton. That's what i thought. Him and Denny had some crazy matches last. Like three or four different crazy matches.
Speaker: Well, I thought I had something from Noah Nininger, but maybe they both wrestled him.
Speaker: Maybe not. I don't know, dude. um but I'm having to pull it up now going through the very elaborate process that it requires to get to a profile on Russell stat these days.
Speaker: The reality is even despite the insurgents or whatever of the ascension of Ryan Burton this summer in the past few weeks, 174 is, is kind of a monster.
Speaker: It's a monster weight class. I realize how bad it was until today. How good it was. What do you mean? Dude, it's so tough.
Speaker: It's so deep.
Speaker: You it's deeper than 33? think more top or like more top. and I think are very similar weight classes with just a different tier too
Speaker: would you say, Reese? I agree. Okay. All 184. We got Jaden Bullock, senior. I thought he was done. How's he still in? I was kind of sad to see him in that spot.
Speaker: It's either Jaden Bullock or it could be Sergio. Yeah. Get him, man. You need a fresh space in bain there. Get this. He wrestled. Wait a minute. Yeah. No, so he wrestled in 2021 as a freshman.
Speaker: That year doesn't count. In 2022, he redshirted. 2023 was a medical redshirt. 24 is his first freshman year. 25, sophomore, 26, junior, this year, senior.
Speaker: That's crazy. That is crazy. It's two-time round of 16 finisher. First as a freshman, then again last year. It kind of came alive last this year. right Yeah, he had an up and down season. That's... ah Well, it was mostly down at the start of the year.
Speaker: As a matter of fact, he had four back-to-back losses to James Conway, Tyler Benis, Max McAnally, and Eddie Nietenbach, which three of those four are pretty good. knew you were going to say that.
Speaker: I knew he was going to say that. Lost to Christian Hansen, Thomas Brooker, Chase Kranitz, Abe Wojcic from Stanford.
Speaker: Yeah, and then he fell to Zack Ryder in sudden victory last year in the round of 16. If he'd won that, he would have placed. Because he would have had um Silas Allred in the blood round.
Speaker: Tiff. Ryan, real quick question on your 125 rankings. Yeah. Why is Mack Mauger at 18 and Leo DeLuca at 24? Did they wrestle? Mm-hmm.
Speaker: When? Very first match of the year. Yeah. Who won? Who do you think? Well, if I'm questioning it, who do you think?
Speaker: I had Mac up there because he qualified for nationals. Yeah, where was where was Leo? Yeah, i that's fair. He was behind.
Speaker: Dude, have you guys heard this nickname for Dean Peterson? Dean Peterson? Dean? Dean P. Oh.
Speaker: Ouch. That one hurts, but it's insane. It works. That's mean. ah Where is... Dude, I can't i can't i can't do... Stoney Sasso 197 and Jimmy Mullen at heavyweight. That's to cap off Virginia Tech lineups in case anyone cared.
Speaker: Leo DeLuca's only match last year was to Mack Mauger. He won 2-0. That was his only match last year. Then he stays at 24. You might have even talked him down to 26 now. I might move him below Louie Gill.
Speaker: Don't do that. ah
Speaker: Yeah. And Anthony Knox is up at 22. And you have Antonio Mills in there. move Mills is not even listed at 25. Yeah, he's listed at 33.41. He's going to be a 25-pounder for him this year.
Speaker: You don't got any inside info at Ohio State.
Speaker: Yeah, look at that wristband. Do you think he doesn't have any insight? Yeah, nothing.
Speaker: Come on. Come Okay, so since I did have 125 completed, um which one of you two wants to do 133?
Speaker: Or we just let's just divvy up the weights now. Right. I'm trying to do. I already did 25. So who's who wants 33? I already have already have 11 guys ranked 133 for you. Aiden Smith. I'll do a teen case Reese has 33 that would put Sammy, you have 41. Let me write this down. We're just gonna do that.
Speaker: We didn't do it that way. here So that puts me at 49.
Speaker: Reese 57, Sammy 65, Ryan Ryan heavyweight. I get the most fucking weights, goddammit.
Speaker: Oh no, you have to do your idea? oh no.
Speaker: You don't do any ideas. What are you going to man? i don't do any ideas. I don't do any ideas. said I don't do any ideas. I don't do any ideas. Don't be so ridiculous.
Speaker: You know what, Ryan? Because of that, you can do pound for pound and team. i'll do that too I'll do it all. i guess I guess the team is easy.
Speaker: ah Why are Anthony Knox and Antonio Mills all the way up there? Because they're good.
Speaker: All right. Where is it? I don't want to see it. And am I supposed to just run off of what you already have for the top 11 at 133? You can change that. You can change that if you feel.
Speaker: OK, good. Because first thing we're doing is getting Aaron Seidel ahead of Ryan Crookham. Why? Because he knows how to keep his knees healthy, Ryan. True. But Ryan Crookham has better wins than Aaron Seidel. What?
Speaker: What? And you know what? As soon as he gets some better knees, I'll come consider it. Tell me a better win than Vito Arugio. Marcus Blaze, current world team member.
Speaker: no. Current world team member, but not world champ? Excuse me? That's old news, buddy. How many NCAA titles does Marcus Blaze have? How many NCAA titles?
Speaker: All right. I yielded. The same number of titles that Vito had when he was a freshman to be entering his sophomore year. I think it's not a good argument. It's not a good argument. It's not a good argument. After he won a national title, though.
Speaker: Huh? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not saying what I'm saying is a good argument. um Hey, didn't Marcus beat Vito?
Speaker: I don't think so. Jax Twice. Twice.
Speaker: mar's never up mar Marcus definitely wrestled Vito. Oh, he lost him. Shit. Yeah, at 2024, not on the big trials. So, yeah, i put Crookham above Seidel because of the Vito win.
Speaker: Yeah, I just feel like it's a little dated at this point. You can change it. You can change it. Feel free. The weight's yours. You can change it. And he also lost the Vito the last time in the wrestling. This weight is my weight. This weight is your weight.
Speaker: Oh, no, 33 is not mine. 41 is mine. 41 is yours. i put my I put my mark on what my weights are. That's a good idea. Okay, what else do we have to talk about to the to the lovely listeners, the lovely people?
Speaker: We're going to have our own teamwork predictions, not predictions, preseason rankings here pretty soon. And then we're going to do our own yeah predictions. Crystal ball.
Speaker: That's shit. Yeah. So actually that nobody else is doing well, do you want to hear my idea? Yes. Okay. Um, putting up a website for people to submit their own rankings and then having an aggregate poll from that.
Speaker: Beautiful. Beautiful. The people's choice, the people's rankings, the people's rankings, so it will the people's rankings flock people.
Speaker: well Well, we're going to do the people's rankings. Now, i need to like I need to do this, but I do have a backlog of ongoing projects. so But I need to do this.
Speaker: So if you're listening, hey, if you're if you are 46 minutes deep listening to this, ah where would you have Marcus Blaze ranked? Or no.
Speaker: Yeah, where would you rank? Where would you rank? would you put Ryan Kirkham amongst the field considering he hasn't wrestled, what, more than 10 matches in the last two years? And now he's at Iowa. theyre they Dude, they keep their guys so healthy all the time.
Speaker: All the time. You know? You put them in machines so their bodies can keep moving until they inevitably walk off the mat for the sixth time in March and fall apart. oh Like Mr. Potato Head. All teams struggle with injuries sometimes.
Speaker: Yeah, I think it's a little maybe a little bit more exceptional at Iowa, though.
Speaker: It's pretty bad. Iowa, Lehigh, what about ah Missouri. Penn State's had some guys.
Speaker: Yeah, there i mean I think. And then those guys win national titles. Suspicious. It's weird how they do that. You know, it's weird. Spencer Lee did it.
Speaker: Spencer Lee did it. Mark Perry did it. Spencer Lee mark perryed is... Mark Perry? I was there. I watched it. He's like 75 years old.
Speaker: Wow. That's funny. It's so funny. threw me off my train of thought. do you think of my top 10 at 41, Sammy? What is Isaiah Poe doing that high up? I guess he beat Nasir Bailey.
Speaker: So why is he behind Nasir? Because Nasir's got some good wins, and Isaiah got beat by Luke Simcox. Oh, in that bracket? Mm-hmm.
Speaker: Peace. Yeah. see There's only two returning All-Americans at 41? Like
Speaker: like from last year's podium? Yeah, yes. That's crazy. That is crazy. It's Luke Stanich, solid. And then Carter Noggle. Noggle.
Speaker: I got Noggle at three. Is that too low? Should he be at two? No. that's No. third Third is exactly where he probably should be. That's probably not where he's going to finish. If he does, you got a good one, Air Force.
Speaker: You got a dang good one. Where do you put... You're going lose him, probably. Do you rank Ono? No. where No. Oh, well, you can't. I have Braden Davis ranked.
Speaker: You can change that. Go for it. Go ahead. Take him out. Yeah, I'm going to i'm gonna change it to Nate Desmond. I'm to put him at number one. Just put Blaze in.
Speaker: Just have two weights where Blaze
Speaker: No, I'm putting Ono in. Oh.
Speaker: Okay. I think Pearson Manville will do... Is he going to be able to make 33?
Speaker: Pearson? Yeah. You mean 41? Why would he go 33? Or 41. i was so confused. That's what he wrestled last year. Yeah, never mind. Never mind. I'm good. I'm good. i I thought I was looking at 33 for some reason. I guess because I saw Brayden Davis, and I think 33 when I see Brayden Davis and Nassir Bailey.
Speaker: I mean, come on. ah Come out. I mean, come him on. Come on. I think think we've got one of the seasons of all time coming up this year, guys. I don't know, dude.
Speaker: After doing the it's running running these point projections, I'm going to tell you how much I had Penn State winning the title. go ahead and Go ahead and tell us about your predictions, Reese. They win...
Speaker: and break the record once again with 204 and a half points. Dude, you're literally half a point shy of Willie Saylor. And that's disgusting. Hey, take Cole Mirasola out of the fourth place position.
Speaker: Take him out. How did you know he was there? He just got teched by Jordan Wood. george Jordan Wood is george good way too big. but
Speaker: I don't, Cole's not going to. Heavyweight is bad, Sammy. He is going to get beat by Dreshawn, by Kobe, by Ben Keeter, by Nick Feldman. Here's who i have at fifth, Sammy.
Speaker: Cade Ziola. By Cade Ziola. Spencer, Spencer Linosca. Braxton Amos. Christian Carroll. what No. All right.
Speaker: I don't know what to tell you, man. i So here's what I, have a, well. I mean, have Welsh at fifth.
Speaker: Oh, really? Yeah. How? But then I have i have Shane Van Ness taking first. that i' i'm I have Ono taking third. There are... That's that's really what it is. what weight? That's the problem. thirty three At 33. At 33.
Speaker: I got Blaze... I mean, it's Forrest, Seidel, Ono, Divino, Griffum.
Speaker: et cetera. I think Crookham would get on top of Oh No and just turn him like a top. Dude, what? think What evidence do you have of that?
Speaker: Of Crookham doing that? He's not bad from top. He can ride. can turn. Man, I'm just can't. I'm really, i'm so glad that Kale went out and said that Ono will be, he's like, he said he'll either be wrestling, he's wrestling this year or next year or both.
Speaker: We know. We have it from the horse's mouth. Ono will be wrestling. Dude, that what an elusive horse. No, that is not... that's say That's either this year, next year, or both years.
Speaker: No, no, no i agree yes I'm not saying that that's elusive. I'm saying the horse that we heard it from is elusive. and So I'm glad we finally caught him. Yeah. Now we know. He's he's wrestling. and And you know what, dude? I'm kind of like... With all the all the Ono... The Ono hate and doubt has swayed me... Has forced me to...
Speaker: Swing him the other side and say that, no, Ono's going to be good. so So, we didn't talk about this, but this happened since the last time that we were here. Ono and Divino wrestled.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: Talk to me about your read on that. My read is Ono looked great. And, like, i don't it does not bother me one bit that he didn't get takedown. He didn't need to get takedown.
Speaker: but he's going to in folk style. I... Yeah, when he needs to get a takedown of himself, he'll get it. Or he's not... yeah There's no evidence of that. ah Hang on, hang on.
Speaker: Let me bring up this point. There's literally zero evidence of that. verse He won the match. He shut Davino out. So, the the way freestyle affects people taking attempts works both ways, right?
Speaker: It is... riskier to be on the defensive in freestyle... because of being driven out of bounds, getting called for passivity, but it is also risky to take shots in freestyle because of how many opportunities the defensive wrestler has to counter the position.
Speaker: And so when I think about Oh no wrestling and folk style, I think maybe he experiences an, an easier mental strain in terms of like the risk evaluation of taking a shot.
Speaker: And so I think in folk style, we'll see Oh no, be, I guess more open or maybe reckless or like take bigger risks or more frequent risks when thinking about his shots.
Speaker: Uh, Now, is that going to translate into takedowns? I don't know, but it needs to. I don't think Ono is a risk taker, period. And I definitely don't think, I think the time he has spent in the room has probably made him like even more averse to taking risks.
Speaker: And so he's going to be calculated and it's probably going work in his favor. I don't think it is though. If like, if, unless he has the ability against his opponent to consistently get out from bottom, I think if he doesn't score takedown, he is trailing in the match. going to, he's going to put pressure on guys and,
Speaker: I think a lot of guys are either going to get hit for stalling or they're going to be forced into making some errant attacks or whatever, and Ono can capitalize there. I think there's plenty. There's seven-minute matches, and he'll find ways to score. In a match against Divino, though, it's not going to be where takedowns are 100% going to be a premium. He's not just be able to push them around and try to win on stalls because they're going to hit Ono for stalling, too.
Speaker: what they're gonna hit They're not going to hit Ono for stalling. Yes, they will. if If he tries to shove him out the way he does in in freestyle, then yeah, they're going to hit him for stalling. Well, hopefully he'll he'll know not to do that.
Speaker: I think there's going to be least some growing pains for him. He's going to have to wrestle in some matches. Divino is totally a guy who I could see him losing to and then not losing to.
Speaker: and i I can already hear the clattering of keyboards of people saying, oh, you think he's not getting a a look for what folk style is like in the practice room, you idiot? It's so different from the practice room to an actual match. And show me some proof, some evidence that his folk style game is transcending.
Speaker: Show me. Yeah, I mean, i don't know if there's like a lot of ways, I guess, outside of him just like being outright offensively dominant against Divino where he's just taking him down and like...
Speaker: No, showing it that way. There's no real way. And yeah. And and and there's no real way to like display your folk style proficiency in freestyle. There is, but like, it's very narrow.
Speaker: Uh, and like, Oh, no, wasn't doing that before. And yeah, he's wrestling a guy who like, it's kind of like a Nick Suriano date and fix type where it's like getting in scoring positions against this guy come few and far between.
Speaker: Um, And it was, what, Ono's second time competing in the last two years, right?
Speaker: Yeah. Third, I guess, with with his match against Spencer Lee. um I think... Who he beat. Who he beat. um One to zero.
Speaker: It's just a matter of of what his proficiency is going to be with his leg attacks.
Speaker: He doesn't need it. I mean... Yeah, he's going to need takedowns. he No, no, no. I'm saying he doesn't need to. He's going score. he's he has those snap downs, dude. Like his hands are going to.
Speaker: Yeah. Did it? Did I see his faces into the mat and then he's going to get to a corner, get to an angle or whatever. hu Did I say only shots? I don't know. You said leg attacks or whatever.
Speaker: and Okay. Well, you're, you're right. Take downs in general, which he does. He has that snap. Now that snap comes from pressure. Maybe he doesn't get that same look because you're not as afraid of the out of bounds line, but I think that's like getting it a little nuanced with it.
Speaker: So I, I'm very hopeful that we will see him wrestle this year. And, uh, I'm excited. I'm excited by the idea of of seeing it happen. So I'm getting more and more excited with all of this, with all of this doubt.
Speaker: ah i'm I'm okay being the doubt to doubter. Me too. Just... Maybe if he wasn't wrestling for Penn State, I would have some different expectations. I don't know. I just, you know, everyone thinks he's going There's just no evidence to back up anybody's claim that he is already a top four guy at the NCAA level.
Speaker: I mean, you're going to have to be a special type of wrestler if you can win a a world a senior world title with a guy like Vito in it and not be...
Speaker: Or do what he did to Marcus Blaze. Yeah.
Speaker: I don't know. Like... Because when was the last time that this happened? That we had like a a major, major prospect come in from... Not a while America.
Speaker: In Wrestle College. Younger? Echimedia? Yeah. Yeah, but like... had either of those guys ever like even wrestled at senior worlds at that point? No, I guess not. Etcham and Dia had good wins, I think. but Yeah.
Speaker: And younger wrestled it in Bo Nichols, you 23 bracket.
Speaker: I don't like, i don't know who the biggest name would have been prior to Ohno. Frank, Frank, uh, Gomez.
Speaker: Franklin Gomez? I don't know. I don't know what kind of success he had before. Begzod was good. Okay. There's some names. What's-his-face from Cal Poly?
Speaker: Boris? Novotkov. That's true. It's true. They wrestled high school in the States. so Both the Novotkov boys did.
Speaker: um
Speaker: It's going to be interesting. It's to be interesting to see. and see we will, hopefully. Definitely. Fingers crossed. What else do we have? my other My second place team, you want to hear their point total?
Speaker: okay Well, it's about 204.5, so you probably have Oklahoma State at 142. Oh, my. 173. oh body hundred and seventy three Oh, yeah. god The bonus points flying.
Speaker: I did. i Well, because I told you how Willie had whatever. had whatever you know He'd updated his... You know, because he used to go by two-point takedowns and the old rules. Yeah, he changed his algorithm. He changed it, yeah. And you know what?
Speaker: I changed mine too a little bit. So, yeah, I'm giving them a little more points. no No, not really like significantly. It's just the fact is is Oklahoma State, I have them placing at every single weight.
Speaker: That's the fact. That's the the deal. um I mean, the only real question marks I have are Norman and Berge.
Speaker: Not – you're not questioning – I'm not putting 65 in there. And whoever – you know, whatever they do at 33 slash 41 with the Rainy Bros and Forrest, I mean, either Rainy – either one of them, I think they'll come in and place right away.
Speaker: Especially if it's going to be at like 41 or 33. Neither weight is that tough.
Speaker: Like depth-wise. Right. Yeah. Yeah. so So you say 74 is the toughest weight this year. Yeah, like deepest weight. Yeah, toughest weight.
Speaker: Okay. Okay.
Speaker: I just was, you know, when I was trying to figure out who I had as my top eight, I was about 25.
Speaker: I mean, 25 is really good, too. Because I just don't feel like it's Lil' Dahl next topic. i I mean, who's going to beat him?
Speaker: but I feel like Provo, Ventresca, and maybe Robinson, that's it. i'm just Here's what I think. i think DeLuca, maybe? Hopefully.
Speaker: I think that he sometimes just doesn't wrestle his best and can get caught up in like the Sheldon Seymour match. Yeah. That was a while ago. It feels like two years.
Speaker: I'm just not one year. Well, no, because then you look at look at his match at the US Open with Antonio Mills. I didn't see that much. It was boring, dude. Liladol did nothing the entire time. He won like 3-1 something. doing that a lot lately. Liladol does nothing.
Speaker: That's what I'm saying. it's like sometimes like I don't think it's really him, though. Do you feel like it's the his opponent's? he will he That's what he does. is He wrestles his opponent's match. Yeah, but short jerry sprightly when does it bite him in the ass?
Speaker: The last one was Sheldon Seymour or maybe, I guess, Nate Desmond. Yeah, his teammate and then his true freshman year in the quarters or semis or whatever it was.
Speaker: He ended up – did he pin Seymour? How bad did beat him? Yeah, don't think he wrestled him. don't they wrestled him. Oh, they didn't wrestle him. No, because he pinned Ramos for third. Right, that's right. Yeah.
Speaker: I think Luke, I think if everybody wrestles that two, one coin flip match, it's problematic for Luke. I don't know, man. That's that's how you maximize your opportunity to beat him at least.
Speaker: Yeah. But like there's a tier of guys who Luke, I guess, has the confidence to just openly attack and score on and dominate.
Speaker: I think if you when you do open up like Spratly did, then that's when you get just totally outgunned. Yeah. And like...
Speaker: Dude, the the re-attack culture at Penn State is insane. like they They've got to be one of, if not the best team teams in terms of mate of punishing you for a bad shot.
Speaker: right but yeah That may be for sure. what the what the guys set and use What their their best guys do is force you into taking those bad shots so that they can re-attack.
Speaker: I feel like that was like no pressure. No pressure constantly made guys take shitty shots. And then it was easy pickings from there.
