Speaker: Hey. Exactly. Not much man, how are you? Doing good doing good over the hump. We are at the back end of September Which means we're getting closer to fall, unfortunately.

Speaker: Closer to winter, but... I love fall. I hate winter, but I love fall. I hate winter, but I do like fall. I like spring a little bit more. but That's our weather talk for today. um Every once in a while on this show,

Speaker: There's a show or a movie that transcends everything. It's something that we look forward to if it's a show every single week. um And for us on this podcast right now. That is Lanterns.

Speaker: I am obsessed with this show and everything about it. In the acting, in the casting. and the future of whatever the show is going to end up being. um And we have two episodes we're going to talk about.

Speaker: I'll briefly talk about Episode 4, called The Weenie. It's basically John and Hal... infiltrating the Macon compound. because the weenie is a name of What?

Speaker: Walt Disney named pretty much the center point of ah of an attraction in Disney disney World. that has the guests pretty much center vision of what that is to distract them from everything else everything else in the park.

Speaker: um And John tells Hal that he thinks the Macon Ranch has a secret underground compound that's hiding something. So they go in there. And they find a whole bunch of what looks to be alien...

Speaker: high High tech stuff that's not from that world. Obviously. There's like dark matter stuff, a whole bunch of shit. um So they go in there. They find Macon...

Speaker: And he's completely naked once he captures them and interrogates them. Dilbon, who's great in everything. He was in Sarah sarah Connor Chronicles. I loved him in Raising Hope. I've seen him in a lot of stuff, but those are just the two that I top think off the top of my head.

Speaker: Um, so They finally, by the end of the episode... John has been having this relationship with Macon's wife. um Speculation. Throughout the whole entire series, we thought that maybe she could be the Manhunter, and it was by the end of the episode proved out.

Speaker: that she was the Manhunter. And... The next episode proves it even further, but... This one made it look like she was killed. um And by the end of the episode.

Speaker: At the end of the episode... How? makes his call on John. He kind of tests him out and and John fails. um and how how is driving him in a car, jumps out with the ring.

Speaker: And John hits a telephone pole, leaving us to what Episode 5 is going to pick up on. um Hal kind of does not trust John. after kind of hiding the fact that he he knew all along that I can't remember her name, was the Manhunter.

Speaker: because he was having this relationship with her and figured it out a long time ago. um And John, just... ah Hal just doesn't believe John anymore and, of course, is pissed because he's being replaced by him.

Speaker: By John, so. Leaving us to last week's episode. Zoe, that's her name. Zoe, who is a Manhunter. ends up surviving, goes back to the making compound, and...

Speaker: Tries to get the troops ready. Because they know there's a big battle coming. And there everybody's coming after them. I can't remember his name. He was in... the The lead guy, what what was he in? of The... He's not a Manhunter, but he's an alien.

Speaker: what He was in Entourage, I believe. He's in a few other shows. He's in Entourage. He's a monster type. Yeah, like he's the guy he goes he's the guy that fucks Vince over in Entourage, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. um he's been He's like one of those...

Speaker: Guys, it just pops up. You do the Leo meme. Like, he's bringing so much stuff, you know? Yeah, he's like a mobster type kind of guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's been a ton of stuff, yeah. We don't really know. is he a man He's not really said that he's a Manhunter or what he is in the show.

Speaker: Only that he's had a relationship with Zoe in the past and they had children. um And she fucked him over a long time ago. That was revealed on this episode. But he in his and his group of people...

Speaker: Are coming after. um Zoe. For revenge and all of that and Zoe's getting the whole town prepared for that. She's been they've been preparing this whole entire town for an invasion or to protect her for a very, very long time.

Speaker: um And this is the... point right now where she has to save herself um And everybody is kind of mobilizing to do that. Um... We find out in this episode that she has this blue healing tech. Um, and she tested out on John because John is in this car accident from the end of last episode.

Speaker: um And she just lets the car blow up and watches it as he's burned. And anybody... Who has an injury like that is... Paralyzed probably for the rest of their life or or at least in very very serious injuries for the rest of the rest of their life She takes him, brings him to the hospital and uses this blue laser healing tech on him.

Speaker: I'm in this almost like bloodletting on him puts blood into his eyeball um We'll get into that in a minute. but um and heals him. completely heals him um to the point where he's not he doesn't have any burn marks on him anymore um and he's back to his original self, and she says, the only thing I want you to do is I want you to kill Hal Jordan, and I want you to take the ring, which is rightfully yours.

Speaker: um Then that sets up what's going to happen at the end of the episode. but the The one thing that I've seen online a couple of places, and I wanted to bring it up on the show. I brought it up to you, Othpod, but... This Zoe, this Manhunter, has a lot of tech based off of colors.

Speaker: um Of what? The colors are in the spectrum. I can't remember what it's called. The rings. But I know it's a spectrum of something. Spectrum spectrum of emotional something. um But that's what the that's what basically what the colors of all the rings are. There's red. There's green. There's yellow, of course, for fear. There's... There's purple, there's black. We'll get into that in a minute.

Speaker: um And her blue healing tech is basically a blue... blue ring, a blue a blue lantern. um Has the power to heal. So I'm wondering if maybe that is.

Speaker: Maybe I... Maybe some sort of a tech from Blue Lanterns. Maybe that Blue Lantern power that she uses to heal people. yeah The other thing, the bloodletting, she takes blood from her finger and she puts it into John's eye during this healing process. um And in the red... The Red Lanterns. They use bloodletting in their power. and their In their weird ways of.

Speaker: doing shit too, passing power through blood. and i'm wondering if that's kind of like the same thing maybe maybe we're getting i don't know um And the red laser also. means death um that also could be because of all the rage with the red with the red lanterns um where else we have Black Mist, Black Lanterns. Black Lanterns is is like Necromancy. Necron is the leader of the Black Lanterns. Of course, the... the

Speaker: blackest knight i Blackest Night Prophecy. I don't know if I have it written in here. I don't remember much about it, but I know that's a big deal, I think, in more of a current room. Yes. Um, which I don't know. That's the Jeff john and that's the jeff Johns stuff.

Speaker: Um, that's where everyone thinks that, well, of course everyone knows about like parallax and stuff like that, but like, that's like, leave us a prelude to parallax or something like that. Yes. Um, I have the comic of just the blackest night.

Speaker: ah But I heard it's... You get so much more out of it if you read up to that, so... Okay. i'm Still trying to work through the first omnibus of Geoff Johns' is run. So if if this if this Zoe has been around for a very, very long time, in lore, and you're talking about Lantern's lore in the comic books,

Speaker: The Manhunters are created by the Guardians. If she was created a long time ago... from ancient guardians Those Guardians may have had that tech, may have shown her how to use it, or maybe she knows just how to use that tech because it's so old.

Speaker: um So she uses that tech to heal, to make weapons. to do everything that she's doing for for rage at one point when she puts the blood in john's in john's eye When he's healed, he goes back and he grabs the gun to get the the get the gun.

Speaker: He's very, very rageful. And John has not been like that at all this whole entire season, um where almost like maybe that rage came from that one moment of her putting the blood in his eye, making him very, very rageful. He's not like that at all. He's very calm and cool.

Speaker: um to the point where you almost think, oh, well is that is that fear coming out on him? I don't know There's a lot of crazy shit with her, but we're not going to see her again because by the end of the episode, she is killed. Bye, John.

Speaker: Jon snipes her right through the head, and he rips her heart out. um and the In the whole entire season, it's been it's been... told that if you take the heart out of a Manhunter, it'll crystallize, turn into a crystal, and he didn't he needed to do that to prove that she was the Manhunter, and that's what he did.

Speaker: Gave the heart to the guardian. Guardian handed him the or he had the ring. He stole it from Hal because he said, Hal, is how you're not you're not worthy enough for this ring. Left him in the rubble.

Speaker: of all this big huge knock down drag out fight that they had at the end of that episode um And he rejected the ring. Um... Kind of figured he probably would because of all the shit that's going on. I don't trust the Guardians. i don't He definitely doesn't. I haven't trusted him from the very beginning.

Speaker: um and i i don't think the i think linea lydia lydia i don't know what her and i can't remember her name is laura lenny I don't think she is who shes who she's saying she is. I'm not even sure if she's really a guardian. If she's a rogue guardian, maybe.

Speaker: But I think she could be something even worse than that. um What did I tell you off pod? I told you that I think she she possibly could be a rogue guardian, but she also could be maybe a manhunter or something. Just something hiding from Hal. Maybe... yeahp

Speaker: Using the form of Carol Ferris, maybe even so. We know you haven't seen Hal interact with this person yet. um And somebody like Laura Linney, a prominent actress, um would be interesting. They were kind of about the same age. I would think maybe he would recognize that person from the past. but Rushville at the end is destroyed.

Speaker: Great for now. A finale. ah great finale You're talking about the fifth episode of a series of eight, um and it feels like the end of an it it feels like the end of a season, but we have three more episodes left.

Speaker: And John has denounced the ring. We already know we're going back the last three episodes to current time, 2026. And yeah, and what what happens to the ring? We know in Superman.

Speaker: Guy Gardner gets the ring. Guy Gardner shows up in the next episode. It's a different ring, so we'll see. Yeah, possibly, yeah. All right. It's... it is It's a different design of a ring, so we know that for sure.

Speaker: Um... Also, this show is one of the few shows that outside of probably so episode two, maybe every episode, I feel like it's better. Like... Oh, yeah. One was great. The two was a little bit of a dip down, but three, four, and five all got better. Like, three was better than two.

Speaker: four better than three, five better than four. So yeah, I'm enjoying it and I can't wait for Sunday night. Yeah, we got a preview for the like for the last three episodes. and As you can see on YouTube, if you're watching.

Speaker: We see Guy Gardner there. We see... At some point before Hal Jordan dies, he meets up with Jon Stewart. And they have a meeting in that diner. I don't know if What's going on in this episode? At one point, it looks like Hal's been healed. and I'm wondering if that's from the gunshot or what that is. He's on the ground. He's got the bullet hole in his arm.

Speaker: Wondering if he's wass what's going on there. um We also see in this, we see that Sinestro meets up with Jon Stewart at some point, which is fucking amazing. I can't wait for that. We also see Jon Stewart walking on an alien planet with with what what looks like...

Speaker: Jon Stewart's um I guess it's like a computer inside the ring. His like hologram. He's walking on this like desert or an alien... planet of some sort he picks up an alien skull in the trailer as well looks at it A lot of shit going on here. We're also going to be getting a Hal Jordan... flashback by the looks of it with his father passing and a funeral. Whoops. Allegedly a whole episode is the penultimate episode is all old hell Jordan stuff. So we'll trace it.

Speaker: Just like they did Jon Stewart already. Yeah. I love this show. I love it a lot and I think it's... I hate to say it. I haven't watched Superman. I'm going to go back and watch it before probably next week's episode. but I like it better than Superman.

Speaker: um We're getting a lot more lore than i a lot more lore than I thought we would in this show, and we're only... We're a little bit more than halfway through right now. We have three left. um It's appointment television, and we haven't had a good show like this in a while.

Speaker: um And it's good to have a show like this. I think the last last time I had appointment television that I was excited for was it Welcome to Derry. um It's on HBO as well. so HBO knows what they're doing. Great show. Love it. On Sunday nights, we'll talk about next week's episode. Oh yeah, House of the Dragon.

Speaker: House of Dragon? Yeah, that's that's weekly too. but but Basically... Since June we've had appointment television. Crazy. HBO is amazing for that. They have been firm for a very long time. That's why they've been around. Even through all the mergers and buying and selling of of Warner Brothers, it's been crazy, but...

Speaker: HBO is still doing their thing. so um Didn't watch a lot of movies. I know you have, and we're going to talk about that, but i don't want to watch I do want to talk about a couple of TV shows, a couple of moments. Stewart fails to save the universe. Last night's episode. Finally talked, I've been talking about it for for a while.

Speaker: They had their Gotham DC Comics crossover multiverse episode where Stewart and the group go into a DC comic book. comic book world um and they're actually in gotham city in the beginning then they go to central city and they meet the flash and they're being chased by mr freeze um and they meet the golden age flash um and that's went viral today because of uh It's DC everything. Originally, the creators of the show wanted a Green Lantern in the show.

Speaker: um But ah DC wouldn't allow it. obviously for obvious reasons so yeah uh we got jay garrick and we got mr freeze uh who was made to look like an idiot in the episode because he kept tripping on his ice so Overall, you're not gonna like this show. If you're a Big Bang Theory fan, you may like it just because it's connected a little bit, but...

Speaker: um It's okay. And we've got one more episode finale next week I may talk about, but... Ted Lasso, another great season, but I don't think we needed it. And we said that from the very beginning.

Speaker: I have no interest in it. Yeah, Tracy Allman is in this season. I don't know if you know who she is. Tracy Allman. Yep. uh, was and She had like a sketch show in the 80s, and she was the reason why The Simpsons became a thing. ah she she In her show, she had The Simpsons shorts, which ended up turning into The Simpsons TV series later on on Fox. But that's where The simpson Simpsons got their start. she's on She's been in this season. um kind of a misplaced casting in my opinion but

Speaker: Overall, um did not need the season. I'm happy. I do like Tad Lasso. I love Tad. I love Roy Kent, of course. I love Beard. I love Higgins. Once I sign up for Apple again, I'll go back and watch it. um But I canceled everything except for HBO for the... the summer so if you want to watch they're all on plex um if you want to I put them on there for you. I'll probably just sign up for Apple.

Speaker: either on Either way. Okay, I might do it that way too. We'll see. Striking's coming back too. I know you're a fan of that. Yeah. Um, Reacher. Reacher ended this week. I don't know if you're caught up on it or not. I did not I'll tell you why in a minute Okay. I'll go to another movie review. down off okay on the show so yeah we'll talk about that in a few but Yeah, Reacher... Great season. The last scene.

Speaker: Last fight scene of this show is probably one of the best fight scenes um of the show ever. I won't get into the details of the of the villains of this show, of of what's going on, but what crap.

Speaker: um And i did watch I did not know they were releasing the whole entire series. I watched the first episode of Neely. um There's eight episodes. I hate when they're doing that because there's so much other shit going on. I don't have time to binge stuff. Nealey.

Speaker: is okay. Of course, in the first episode we see Reacher in the beginning. He's not going to be in throughout the whole entire series. but Of course, if you've seen Rachel, she's one of his friends from back in the day when he was in the Army. so spinoff of that show. They are. I don't know if you have it in the notes, but they announced they're doing that with Crystal Lake also when that comes out on October 15th. That's all getting released on the same day. That sucks, but that's okay. I hate it because, like, especially, like, when you look at, like, what happened with Spider -Man Noir.

Speaker: um if Everyone loved it. It did great. It was up for all the stuff. and then yeah We'll talk about it when we get there. but then like People forget about it after a week. Same with... Same with the next show.

Speaker: same with the next show The paper. The Office spinoff. Same thing happened, released all the episodes in one week, and then one week later, everybody forgot about it. it's It was okay when Netflix was the only one around.

Speaker: and there was no other streaming services, no other shows like that, so everything else was a weekly. Netflix was the only one, but when everybody does it... You can easily get lost. Shows can easily get lost in the minutia, and yeah that's what happened with Spider Noir.

Speaker: Look at what happened with with us this summer is like you watch so much more shit than me just because even if it was weekly or bi -weekly or whatever like just because Like, I'm not going to sit down and yeah it's just, it's fucking, I hate it. Yeah. I hate it so much. My favorite model is release two to three episodes and then drop them weekly after that. That's my favorite model.

Speaker: Even that. Even that is harder now because you're talking about sitting down for three hours if it's a three -episode arc. But you have we have a week to watch those three episodes. Right. um Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. But the other show that came out today, I have not watched Mobland. I'm going to watch it tonight, but only one episode. bet Those are released weekly. I love that show. And they are going to do and a third season of that. They did announce it when they were doing the promotion for the show. I love this show. I love Tom Hardy in it.

Speaker: I watched the South Park premiere as well. i don't know if How is it? I'm going to watch it tonight. I'm watching it tonight. It's great. um it's I watched last season for the first time in a long time.

Speaker: um the other The other show I want to get back into, I want to get back into It's Always Sunny because every new clip I'm seeing of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Yes! has been i have to sign up for hulu again because of that um but yeah Yep.

Speaker: Again. on the Plex if you don't want to do that. I'm starting to download. Oh, okay. Everything because I don't have everything anymore like I used to because it's expensive. I don't have it anymore.

Speaker: So if you have the means, do it, even though I'm not... promoting that. but um yeah But yeah, they did change the episode. They changed the whole entire series season. The name of the show is going to be called South America.

Speaker: um kind of a play on what trump is doing with everything in america right now yeah Lake America... golf of america so on and so forth but um yeah it's did you hear what he said about fishing No.

Speaker: He said I think I saw it say on my feed where he said... um his's He's in a position of such power that he can cancel fishing and make fishing illegal if he wanted to.

Speaker: Oh my god. I just started laughing. like So, yeah, you have people that are like, oh, he's just joking. You have the other people that are, you know, whatever. I just thought it was i thought it was fucking hilarious. Like Joe Rogan says, the man has great comedic timing. I'll give him that.

Speaker: Yeah, but he's the President of the United States. That's where the problem lies.

Speaker: And here we are. gases Gas is .50 a gallon again and it's hitting a person like me. pretty fucking hard right now, but I don't want to get put political, but two more years is all we have left. um So yeah, that's happening. South America.

Speaker: To the point where Primus came back. And they recorded the song. The theme song has been around for what now? Almost 30 years? They re -recorded yeah rerecorded the song coming back coming down to South America now.

Speaker: So it's it's not crazy. So yeah, this new the the new seasons only last about six to eight episodes. So yeah I'm excited for that. They come out about every two weeks. So we'll continue talking about that.

Speaker: Next thing is up is europe're up you're up now. Next thing. New game. Wolverine Wolverine I have not played it. Because I saw your review. And I'm going to leave you to it.

Speaker: Okay, um... So I will say this. playing as Wolverine Um... When you're just literally just fucking people up. is a lot of fun to me. yeah I'm about three hours into the game. I don't know if it's going to eventually get tiresome, which is what I heard from the previews and whatnot. It was a lot of fun doing that.

Speaker: But the issues that you see online, don't take any of the glitches you seriously, because a lot of that was the... Before they had the day one patch? Yeah, I do. I do. So but like a lot of the issues like they have like the mini games you're fighting a boss where it's like alternate like hitting L1 and...

Speaker: R1. um Or like... Tapping. triangle and like to get like a meter to go all the way up. And if you don't do that stuff, You still - go on like it doesn't matter you can literally just hold the controller just not even worry about that stuff Um... It's incredibly linear.

Speaker: Um... it is so yeah We're so used to Spider -Man and being open world. Spider -Man in general... like Spider -Man was over the world and like I don't think the story of Spider -Man was that Great.

Speaker: The first one was really good, but the Miles Morales one was just kind of weak, and so was Spider -Man 2. But in general... Compared to the Arkham games, you're right. yeah Yeah, definitely. And I think... I think what they're doing, I think what Insomniac is doing is getting is people are finally like kind of seeing through it.

Speaker: Um... And like, With Spider -Man, it's like, okay, the story is and may not be the best. The story might be a... Six and a half out of ten. But it's so much fun because it's open world, you're swinging around and doing shit, where this is just so linear that you don't have that...

Speaker: You don't have that chance to do that. um But playing as Wolverine is a lot of fun. Um... I would say... It's definitely not a worth the $70. That's why I didn't buy it. I actually have credit to buy it, and I didn't.

Speaker: Yeah, it's cool that... like So you can change, because I bought the... Packs ahead like the... seven suits or whatever pre -built in or whatever because I always do that with those games because I like to change suits and stuff as opposed to starting with like three suits. um and like the suits do get battle damage as you are are going through like the levels which is cool Um...

Speaker: And you can change out different... claw styles and stuff. But yeah, wait till it's like... It probably won't be too long. I mean, Black Friday at the latest. It'll probably be fucking $30. Because what was it? Guardians of the Galaxy came out in September of the year. It came out...

Speaker: And it was $20 by Black Friday. um So it is a lot of fun, but get it on a discount. Um... And once I finish it up, I'll review the whole game. I'll probably play some more tonight. But it is a fun game for me to like...

Speaker: I also kind of like the fact that like I'm still working, so I don't want to sit there and do a lot of thinking while I'm playing a game after work, so I can just turn it on for an hour and just fuck people up for an hour, kind of like why I play the UFC games, which are still pretty trash, but they're fun. Because I can just do that and not have to worry about thinking too much. um So yeah, so far it's it's fun, not great.

Speaker: Um... The moves are really, really fucking cool that you can do to people, and it is very graphic and very bloody. um which is kind of what i expected from wolverine game i guess um it just it is very very easy Um...

Speaker: Like insanely easy Yeah, that's all I've heard. so yeah I had the credit. I've had the credit for a while. I was waiting for the reviews. um And I didn't buy it because I saw you say pretty much it wasn't worth the $70. So I held yeah off on it. and I'm going to wait. um I might just save the money because GTA comes out in what?

Speaker: Just ah like two months from now. So I'm going to wait and we use that for that. And I also... Oh yeah, I also um finally beat Bond. oh Nice. which i didn't know i was literally like one chapter away from beating it when i Because I played it when I first got it in May. Right. A bunch. And then we started getting busy at work and I just kind of stopped playing it. And I was like, I'm going to turn this on and see if I can beat it before Wolverine came on. And I was on like the last mission. That game is fucking incredible.

Speaker: um Buy that instead. Buy that instead. um It's like Hitman, but not as stealthy. like You can choose to do stealth stuff. um You don't have to. You can literally just, what I did is I just pretty much just went full -on just got into fistfights the entire time you'll die a lot but it's a lot of fun on Definitely recommend that game, and I'm sure it's on discount by now because it came out in fucking May.

Speaker: um so if you're looking for something to buy get that zed wolverine before gta if you want something to hold you over Okay, maybe I'll do that. I watched a couple more things, and we'll get into the movies that you watched. I did watch this new documentary on Netflix called O .J. Unseen.

Speaker: exploitation of evil. Four episodes. This is on ID, and Investigation Discovery. Now it's on HBO Max. um basically what it is is oj In the early 2000s, when the whole reality TV craze happened and punk and trying to trick people...

Speaker: OJ had a reality show. Called juiced where he'd go up to people he'd try to trick them and try to do this prank show on just on just regular civilians And by the end, when he's tricked them, and they're all like, what the hell? Is this OJ Simpson really fucking with us? He goes, you've been juiced. Ha, ha, ha. And he juices them. That's fucking terrible.

Speaker: And there is behind -the -scenes footage that's never been shown. The show is all shot, never released, of course. when in All news outlets were talking about it back then, and they just did not want to deal with the controversy, so they shelved it until now.

Speaker: um And it's all out. and There's behind the scenes footage of him dressed as a rapper talking about. girls and rapping. It's crazy in the first episode, but This is all out. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I just wanted to bring that up The other documentary I really liked, but it was way too short, but I guess you can't really talk too much about Mr. T. Maybe not more than 45 minutes to an hour, but there is a Mr. T. documentary on Netflix as well called Mr. T. I Pity the Fool.

Speaker: um Came out on Netflix on the 8th of this month. um Mr. T. Slammed it Did not like the way he was portrayed in it. He thought ah the documentary about his life was garbage, and after he watched it, it pissed him off. Everyone does that to Netflix documentaries. They do, and I did love it. i You don't see Mr. T too much anymore. he's in He's on the circuit doing Comic -Cons here and there, but um he's definitely not in the public eye like he was even 20 years ago on like Surreal Life, Celebrity Fit Club, or wherever else he was doing on the VH1 shows. but

Speaker: um Yeah, I love Mr. T. I love everything. I love a the A -Team. I love him in Rocky. um They talk all about that stuff. Of course, WrestleMania with Hulk Hogan. They talk about that. They break down everything. Mr. T, where he came from, what he's doing now, where he lost his money. It's it's a good documentary. It's worth watching on Netflix if you want to watch that.

Speaker: And we're back to Kevin. Kevin's got three things he wants to talk about. First one... um Is Spider -Man Brand New Day You Finally Watched It? Speaker: It was cool. Yeah. um It's my fourth favorite Spider -Man. Yeah, I think I'm right about that. Raimi's two, one and two. I have a soft spot for Homecoming, so that's my third. You do. um and then brandon day um I didn't care for a lot of what they did with Jean Grey in her introduction. I think she's going to be a great actress. I think she's going to be perfect for Jean Grey.

Speaker: um i just like you've obviously seen the complaints online about like her literally killing people even though the producer said she didn't kill anyone yeah okay Sure. Yeah, right. it It was alright. I mean...

Speaker: Yeah, it was it was good. Definitely good. I saw it and I'm Can't wait to watch it again on 4K. Oh, yeah, yeah. But yeah, it was good. It was very good. um Honestly, i had I don't think there's a single Spider -Man movie I don't like.

Speaker: Yeah. Even Amazing Spider -Man 2 has, although it's very flawed, and same with 3, Spider -Man 3, it still has... moments in the day I enjoy yeah Um...

Speaker: Yeah, it's definitely – I liked it a lot more than No Way Home. I liked it a lot more than the second one, Far From Home. Um... But yes, it's it's up there. It's definitely on the Mount Rushmore of Spider -Man movies to me. um one and two Raimi movies are, they still hold up to me to this day. I rewatched those before I saw it this. So, um, so yeah, fourth favorite Spider -Man.

Speaker: Good flick. I can't wait to get the 4K Steelbook. so yeah yeah Yeah, me too. um I, uh... Yeah, what were you gonna say? I don't just go on. Sorry.

Speaker: Yeah, i I do like it a lot. I think, like you mentioned, the Jean Grey of it all, I'm wondering if they're going to explain that in the X -Center or if they're just going to ignore it. Because she did she murders somebody outright, throws them into a bus. So how do you... yeah Say that she's a good person. The writer or whatever came out and they were like...

Speaker: Oh, well, you never see him die. It's like that's... It reminded me of... Jay Olivia. who is the storyboard artist for Snyder saying that nobody died in the giant explosion that, um,

Speaker: In the parking garage? He's like, well, you don't see anyone anyone die. And I'm like, it's a parking garage in the middle of essentially New York City at 2 p .m. on a workday. people died during that. like just It's just like stupid for them to come out and be like, oh, well, we see the backlash. Nobody died. It's like, yeah, well, okay, if that guy didn't die... At his age, he's severely going to be in a lot of pain the rest of his life.

Speaker: Have you been keeping track of all the Snyder stuff this week? Because we're going to talk about it in the news some of it. All the stuff he's been talking in interviews. about Okay, we'll talk about it. Oh yeah. The other movie that you watched, you watched last night. which thanks for the before i get into this Before I get into this, we'll talk about what I watched. when was last night thursday yeah wednesday night uh we're gonna watch tony we would have been talking about that we'll talk about that next week it's one of my most anticipat anticipated movies i didn't know it was out already to be honest Yeah, came out quick.

Speaker: So we'll talk about that next week. So... Due to how Jordan constantly jumping out of vehicles. A movie that I love got brought back. onto my timeline because he does the same exact thing in the movie game night Yes.

Speaker: Where he literally bails. have you You've seen Game Night, right? Yes. I did. So I watched Game Night. Um... Love that movie. I completely forgot that Dexter was in it, and he even does the Dexter point to the forehead on... On Cal Chandler, which is great.

Speaker: So, yeah, I watched that. I love that movie. I'm going to go back and watch that. That shit's been talked about. It's literally been on my Twitter timeline since like Monday. um Between that and like... How George, when he brings in the games, he's like, here's some of our affairs. He just like throws it like that. clip has also been on. um That's a fantastic movie. yeah But last night I did see Resident Evil.

Speaker: Yeah, you do. Um... And so the movie is fucking fantastic. it's here I liked... I liked the ending. I wanted to love the ending. I thought the ending would have been better. It just wasn't executed well, in my opinion, but...

Speaker: Anyway, basically... To Kregers standards or to Resident Evil standards? I'm a very, like... casual Resident Evil player.

Speaker: Okay. um So I get it and I get why they did it. Um... i you I don't want to spoil anything because I don't want to talk too much about that. yeah yeah But the movie basically...

Speaker: It was like the main star, the kid from Austin Abrams, who's in a walking dead seasons five and six, I believe, or six and seven. Um... He's fantastic. The movie is...

Speaker: fucking hilarious. like i was like The entire theater was laughing out loud at several points in the movie. He basically plays a guy... who essentially, he makes a joke in it. um He basically...

Speaker: He he's a carrier and like one hospital needs something so you said so so that they ask hospital b for like say blood transfusion he goes picks it up brings it to hospital a So he brings this thing into one of these hospitals.

Speaker: And they're like, we have one more delivery. They're like... But... it's like in raccoon city and it's snowing really hard and it's gonna be a long trip and they're like but we'll double your money or whatever and so he's like okay i'll do the job So he takes... you know, the thing and and He goes into rackoon Raccoon City, and obviously it's fucking, like, really, really snowing and stuff, and... That's when shit goes haywire, and from that point on, it does not stop.

Speaker: um I don't know if you've seen the trailer. I have not seen many trailers. I don't remember... a specific actor Being in them? And I'm not sure if he was in the trailers because... When he showed up on screen, he's kind of a favorite of this podcast.

Speaker: Um... Hmm. Everyone at the theater laughed and clapped. when he showed up. um So I don't know if he's in the trailers or not. Probably not. Probably not because I don't yeah know who you're talking about. You'll get a kick out of him. I think you should see it this week if you have time. It is bloody. Um... Lots of nods at the games. um People are angry that it's not like ah Jill and... um Leon story or whatever like it's its own thing Um...

Speaker: Like I said in my review on Letterboxd, the only thing I kind of wish they had was it didn't take place in current time. like I wish that there was no... The only thing that holding it to current time is really an iPhone.

Speaker: Um... Because then you could have thought of it as kind of a prequel to the first game. Um... But overall, I loved it. And it was competing for a long time.

Speaker: Pretty much up until the end. I'm still thinking about the end. So I might change my score from four to a four and a half. um But it's it was competing with like... obsession, And... um that Ryan Gosling movie from earlier in the year for like my best movies of the year, my favorite movies of the year. that's Um,

Speaker: It is fantastic. It's only like an hour 40. um it's Like I said, it's funnier than it has any business being. um Lots of nods to the games. I don't know if you've played much Resident Evil. But I got a lot of the references, and I'm sure there's a lot more that I missed.

Speaker: Okay, cool. Yeah, I'll keep my eye on it. mean And the guy... Basically the the main guy in it. It was like one of us, like if one of us were thrown into the situation, like... Like, try to use a gun for the first time.

Speaker: oh yeah And he's like... I've only done this in video games. like There's a lot of references like that. Stuff like that, like trying to like finding a shotgun, like trying to figure out how to load it and get the shots off in time and all that stuff. like he literally is like one of us if like one of us were in that situation like He's not a cop that knows or is not trained, whatever, i'd like the games have you be. So yeah.

Speaker: The other thing you're going to talk about before we get into the Nintendo Direct and Zelda of everything. You started to watch Monster Season 4, the Lizzie Borden. It came out today on Netflix. Rum. Yeah, you watched what, one episode?

Speaker: and you said Two. I watched two. I was finishing up a flyer a little bit late here. um It's uh It's okay. um It takes place in a time period which...

Speaker: I don't really care about it. It's like 1897 or something. Um, And... Like, at least, like, with the one with Charlie Hunnam, even though he's in this one, too. He's the father in this one. um It was, like, during, like, the 40s and 50s, which was kind of cool. I always loved that era. Um...

Speaker: But this, and also... They have to take a lot of liberties with this because, like... It was the 1800s. She was not found guilty. There's very little like... actual information about Lizzie Borden. Um...

Speaker: Where she kills her... If you don't know, it takes place in Massachusetts. Kills her... Yeah, Fall River. Kills her stepmom and her father with an axe, allegedly. She was not found guilty. Um...

Speaker: The only person in the house with her was the maid. The maid is almost the star of the show. Um... So I feel like they're taking a lot of liberties with their relationship. um But so far it's actually Pretty good. um I was not expecting to watch... like When I first started watching, like the first 10 minutes, I was like...

Speaker: Probably not even going to finish the first episode. But so far, it's not bad. It's probably something I'll probably watch, like, maybe an episode of tonight. Um, I got South Park and Always Sunny to watch now tonight after I eat dinner, but...

Speaker: um It honestly isn't as bad as I thought. thought it would be, but like I said, just... They're just making up a bunch of stuff. um Clearly. um the sister just came into the picture who's played by um Billie Eilish plays the sister, the older sister. She's like 10 years older.

Speaker: than Lizzie Borden. um Yeah, I mean, it's it's not bad. I mean, it's it's obviously quality because it's Ryan Murphy. um I think the Menendez Brothers one is probably...

Speaker: the best one they've done so far. Um... Because that's such a very interesting story. Ed Gein, Menendez, and what was the other one? at game and then does oh my god what was the first one was the one that you couldn't finish watching uh dommer Oh, Dahmer. Dahmer was the best one. The Menendez one was the most interesting. okay um The Menendez one was the most interesting to me um because it's like they basically like lived on the run for like without living on the run for like whatever, six, nine months after and they were just spending cash.

Speaker: One of the craziest stories with them was the basketball game card. They're on the, it wasn't, it was on the card. They're on the New York Knicks. I forget the player's name, but yeah, it was a player for the Knicks.

Speaker: Yeah, they're one yeah one of the trading cards. You can see them in the background sitting in the sitting in the front row. I had that card growing up, and it's worth a lot of money now. That's what I hear, yeah. yeah um So, ah that's what we watched, except for... We've got a couple more things we're going to talk about.

Speaker: ah Last week, I believe the day it was on the 8th, a couple days after Labor Day, Nintendo was going to have their Nintendo Direct. On the 7th, they had their Nintendo Zelda, all Zelda 40th anniversary panel. The next day was the Nintendo Direct. There was nothing that came out of that one.

Speaker: So we're going to talk about Zelda. The Zelda panel was awesome. um yeahp we got some we got some brand new number one um we got a brand new title for the movie coming out next april it's going to be simply the legend of zelda No subtitle, no nothing. Coming out April 30th of next year.

Speaker: Excited for that. They said that that will be explained in the movie. And they said also that the movie is going to take aspects from all the games in the last 40 years and put little parts of the games into the movie.

Speaker: in different ways of course cannons a part of it a Zelda link all that's in there um and all the lore of Zelda that's been told through the games and the in the history of the game ah will be in there in some form. So excited for that.

Speaker: And then they announced also that there's a 40th anniversary tour of a concert, a full orchestra concert of all the music from Zelda coming out sometime in the next year, touring around the world. um And they opened this panel with that orchestra playing ah the theme of Zelda, which was awesome.

Speaker: But we got into the bread and butter of everything. Everything we were looking forward to. Arc Arena. of time and in an official date for that which has already been pre -ordered for by myself i think you have two as well um of a of november 5th so just a little over a month and a half from now um our arc arena time the remake is coming out on the switch too and it looks stunning um the visuals of this game. Got a couple of... screenshots of this will break down right now but

Speaker: It just looks awesome. You got Ganon there, the scene of him when Link goes into Hyrule Castle for the first time. And he's...

Speaker: Ganondorf on horseback coming in scares the shit out of him with lightning in the background was awesome The whole the whole entire imagery of this it reminds me of a little bit of mix of course the old game Mixed with newer graphics from maybe influenced by by Tears of the Kingdom, Breath of the Wild a little bit, but ah something different too. A little bit more rounded, not as shadowed, not as new as those games. A little bit more classic. Here's some more pictures of it. Of the characters, of course, grabbing the sword from the top and from the Temple of Time, mount mount date and Mount Doom or whatever that is called. I can't remember. It was Mount Death. Doom, I can't remember where it is. um You see the Gorons, we see the Zoras, Impa. So, yeah, it looks awesome, looks stunning. The gameplay, they show this long gameplay of of him going through the of the village, Forest Village. It was awesome in the beginning of the game. And then they did announce the Nintendo Switch 40th Anniversary Edition Zelda. It comes out a couple of days, I think a week before the Zelda game. um And it took me a week to finally pre -order it, but I did get it on Amazon.

Speaker: um and i cannot wait i don't have a switch to kevin got yours uh like a year two are you gonna uh Get the pro controller for it, the Zelda one. I want to get the one that has the face. That's the best way to play the game. Yeah, that's what I, I'm hearing that, yeah. and That's the best way to play the Switch 2 anyways.

Speaker: Okay, yeah, yeah. um But yeah, I do have a picture of that as well. They have they have a special ah display stand with a map of Hyrule on it. It's sold out. That the that throw controller is like my favorite controller, I think, in -game right now. Nice, nice. um And if you pre -ordered in the beginning, you got a textured, foiled, covered art. I was hoping they would do a gold cartridge, because they're the only they're the only company, Nintendo, right now doing cartridges, but they didn't do that. But if you did pre -order early...

Speaker: um They have this limited textured foil art cover um that you get. And they also are are are releasing a couple of new Amiibos with young Link and young Zelda from the game. Very exciting. I i love Zelda. You love Zelda. so um They also announced a new Lego set with Link and Epona. It's just it's awesome. Awesome time right now. It's the whole year between now and when Zelda comes out in the theaters. It's going to be awesome.

Speaker: um Didn't announce any new games, but Ark Arena was enough. um And everybody was talking about it. It seemed like there was a shift between that and from everybody talking about GTA to this. it seemed like a huge shift and we felt it um and and the pre -orders have been in but bananas people trying to pre -order that system so um yeah it's crazy the other thing that was announced a couple of days later i know you have some opinions of it because you're getting a new phone

Speaker: Apple had their conference two days later on the 9th and announced a few things. Number one, announced new watches, Apple watches. I haven't had a new Apple watch in six years. I'm okay with the one I have, but...

Speaker: I got mine last year. when I got up that in AirPods last year. You did, yeah. But ah they basically it's basically just new new battery life, new this and that, intelligence into it. and They have a life a live heart rate monitor on there now, a few other things. That's the Ultra, the regular one.

Speaker: um has some of the same stuff um just just but and longer battery life so and so forth blah blah blah blah um Brand new. air pods not the pros just air pods um basically they turned them into what the pros were they just put all that in i'll put all that stuff into the um the basic air pods which are like 120 i think now if you wanted to buy just the regular ones um they have um

Speaker: Basically longer battery life. Everything that the pros had two years ago has been put into these. but That's all that was announced other than the phones. The phones themselves. The other thing that wasn't announced was the Apple TV.

Speaker: Which I think we're probably going to be getting in October. Because usually they save the phones for now and the Apple TV for later. But... We did get the new, what you got, the new iPhone Pro. They're skipping iPhone. iPhone 18, and it went right to Pro. ah We got brand new colors, and light blue.

Speaker: A white, a a black, and a burgundy. And I believe you said you got the burgundy, correct? Yeah, you got the burgundy. Yep. Um... And a couple of things on that. My pictures aren't loading on YouTube. There they are. um You got some the biggest battery in life ever.

Speaker: um new colors the dynamic that dynamic island up top has been changed um it has a new uh aperture uh camera That makes zooming better, I believe. Faster wireless charging. um For you, when was the last time you upgraded? what You said you had a 14 before? I had a 15.

Speaker: 15. But it's the it's like the very... Base model with only like the two cameras and shit like that. like It's not a pro or anything like that. It'll be a huge upgrade all around. Your photos are going to look amazing.

Speaker: Your yeah best thing you're going to see on there is Apple Intelligence. And and just the editing of editing of... photos and everything, you're going to find that amazing. That's right. That's why I haven't uploaded my video of the Luke lightsaber because I'm going to take all new photos and videos with the new phone.

Speaker: Yep, it's going to be amazing. Yeah, and Siri searing and AI are basically the the gist of all of these systems now. The biggest phone... What's the paper chamber? What's that mean?

Speaker: Just cooling. it It helps the cooling system. um But the biggest reveal was what hasn't been a secret for a long time that Apple was making a foldable phone called the full of the iPhone Duo.

Speaker: a Weird name, but also vapor chamber. Nano textures display. The display is almost like a mat. The inside. i don't know if you You've seen it, of course you have. All right. The one thing I noticed about this phone from the very beginning, number one, thinnest iPhone they ever made.

Speaker: When you open it, it's 7 .6 inches. Looks just like a mini iPad, kind of. When it's closed, it's 5 .4. When it's closed, it looks like one big D. with ah with a punch hole and and on the front of it.

Speaker: Um, Which is odd, because a lot of the foldables in other companies, they that just look like a regular phone on the outside. It just looks weird that it's folded like that, but... um It's very, very versatile. They've been testing it for a while. There's no crease on the phone when you when you open it because they put this matte finish on the screen on the inside.

Speaker: Um... multitasking that you do on the iPad you can do on this you can also use the Apple pencil On this as well. the first the um The smaller version of it. Not the pro version.

Speaker: The battery life is one of the best at battery lives on all iPhones. um the center stage you get on max has has come into this because you can you can use the phone in different angles you can have it flat you can have it 45 degrees you can have it flat if you wanted to have like a keyboard on the bottom and type on it you can have the screen like a like a laptop facing you kind of

Speaker: which is rumored to be happening with a laptop soon, i like an all -screen laptop. but um The cameras on this, two cameras, but they say that they're amazing. One of them is a 48 megapixel, which is going to look incredible. um It's made out of titanium. um It's... it's It's expensive.

Speaker: I think it was $24 .99 or maybe it was $1 .99. $1 .99 was the cheapest way of getting it with the smallest amount of memory.

Speaker: But again, we've said it before, I think, on this podcast, but do not get this phone first generation. Wait until second. Because there's going to be a lot of flaws and a lot of things they're going to fix from the first generation that are going to be better in even the second generation. But I think third generation for something like this may be better. They're also saying on the third generation of this phone, they're going to have a larger screen. It's going to be kind of like a... Pro Max or maybe a Duo Max if that comes out.

Speaker: um that's That's what's rumored in the in the rundown of what's going to be happening in the next few years. And, of course, next year. Is the 30th anniversary or 20th anniversary of iPhone 20th? So we're going to getting a brand new iPhone with barely no bezels. rounded screen rounded rounded edges um and no

Speaker: dynamic island and no no pinhole no anything it's gonna be all screen camera underneath the screen that which they did in this for the very first time this camera is underneath the screen um they also didn't put face id under the screen because of that they have a fingerprint back in this phone but It's cool, but again, wait until second or third gen for that, until the technology. And they do have these new... ah Folio covers. I didn't want to bring that up. They look kind of odd

Speaker: But but they're they're... efficient enough to have have it on the display if you want to watch a movie in full screen but Yeah, I love new technology that's been around forever from other companies, but Apple just waits and takes their time to make sure they get it right. so I'm kind of excited for that we'll see where this technology goes in the future.

Speaker: um and Well, let's ah um talk about tech. We talked about movies. We talked about TV shows. Let's jump into The news.

Speaker: and It's not a new seven without the trailer roundup

Speaker: I got a brand new movie called Artificial. starring Andrew Garfield about OpenAI. He's playing the CEO of OpenAI. And he says he will he when when he did...

Speaker: The social network... He deleted Facebook. When he did this movie, he deleted OpenAI because he saw how bad the technology really is. um And this comes out on Christmas Day, all about the story about OpenAI and chat GPT was created, um so and all about artificial intelligence. so

Speaker: I love Andrew Garfield, love him in movies like this, so very excited to see that. Jake Gyllenhaal is in a new M. Night Shyamalan movie called Remain. Don't know much about it other than they see as ghostly figures in his house. That's basically what the trailer revealed. i Love M. Night Shyamalan. I would say about 50 -50 on his movies, but the 50 % that are good are really good. um And Jake Gyllenhaal, of course, he has a great record, so cannot wait for that.

Speaker: um and Tom Cruise is in full promotion mode right now for this Digger movie which comes out in I believe in two weeks and it comes out on the 2nd of October where he's playing this character with all these all this prosthetic makeup set in a future future apocalyptic world him and John Goodman, Reese Ahmed Jesse Plemons is in it. It just looks like it's going to be a decent movie and Tom Cruise being Tom Cruise. He's out there there promoting it for the very first time doing interviews. He was on the Kelsey's podcast this week. He was on. um

Speaker: The Tonight Show recently, I think last night or the night before, so he's been out in full promotion mode, which he hasn't done in a while. so On our radar, we'll keep an eye on the reviews and how that is.

Speaker: A brand new quick trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero. Brand new awesome poster for it as well. Comes out November 6th, just over a month and a half from now. um cannot wait for it looks awesome uh they're teasing that there's gonna be more monsters in this as well So we'll have to wait and see.

Speaker: And coming out on October 7th, just in a couple of weeks, Carrie, the Prime original series, new series based off the the, of course, books and movies by Stephen King. Coming out on Amazon per Prime, brand new trailer, looks awesome. We see Carrie, we see kind of the climax of what's going to happen with her standing on the podium at the prom at the end. So, yeah, cannot wait for that.

Speaker: I know you're looking forward to this. I think the poster is fucking incredible. The trailer is even awesome. Crystal Lake. It's disappointing they're all releasing the episodes all at once, but the trailer does look awesome. She plays the... ah uh she plays of course the mother of uh of jason um and she is uh what's her name mindda linda cartolini She is a...

Speaker: She is a cook at the camp. Was that part of the lore of the... They've changed it changes all. um I don't even know if it's canon. This one takes place in the 70s when in the movies it was 1957. This takes place in like 74.

Speaker: um So... I don't know. I can't remember if she was a cook or not. i know she I think they just said she worked at the camp. I don't know what they ever... Said she did.

Speaker: Okay, okay. Because that's how Jason ended up getting into the camp is that she worked there. She might have been a cook. It's been a while. I gotta re -watch the first one. We know we know in the story that Jason drowns.

Speaker: um he's He's a disfigured kid and he's made fun of and the the kids don't help him when he's drowned incorrect. And Mother takes revenge out. If you've seen the first movie, you know all this. but

Speaker: um Another great trailer. um It looks awesome. This is definitely on our radar. Mr. Irrelevant, based on The Incredible True Story, is the title of this movie, with ah David Cornswet playing this guy. Guy, I don't remember his name. I know you may know it. but um John Tuggle. John Tuggle. Is he still alive? I know in the movie he has cancer. i I think he died after like three years after he was drafted or something like that. Like I think he died in 86 or 87.

Speaker: Okay, so it's going to be a heartbreaking story. That's good to know going in. I'm prepared for that now. But yeah, he just looks incredible. It doesn't look like Superman in this. It looks different, doing a different different type of acting in it. but um yeah Can't wait. I love him, so we'll definitely watch that.

Speaker: A brand new trailer called The Mosquito Bowl starring Bill Skarsgård comes out on Netflix on November 25th, comes out in theaters on October 30th. All about these four American top football players in the college who enlisted the Marines during or after the pearl Pearl Harbor attacks. Bill Skarsgård.

Speaker: Ray Nicholson. It just looks really, really good. Good army movie. And they show the ah the battle, the first attack on Normandy um we're during World War II in the trailer. So, yeah, it looks looks like it could be a good movie. So we'll keep an eye on that. Yeah.

Speaker: a First trailer for a movie called Below, starring Josh Hartnett and charlie huntton Charlie Heaton from Stranger Things, coming out on Netflix on October 8th. Series follows a fisherman who must protect his community when a sea monster terrorizes their remote town. Josh Hartnett, not in a lot of stuff lately. He's been in more stuff than he was, but kind of disappeared for a while. so well Yeah, he retired for a bit. and had a family and all that good stuff.

Speaker: He came back to Hollywood and recently and he's been doing doing some good movies. So we'll see. Brand new trailer came out yesterday for How to Rob a Bank. starring Nicholas Holt, um the guy the little kid the kid from Penguin. Is that the kid from Penguin? Okay, kid I thought so.

Speaker: ah ah Zoe Kravitz, Pete Davidson. It looks good. It reminds me a lot of that Leo movie that came out last year that won all the awards. but um yeah Directed by the guy who did Bullet Train and the Fall Guy. so It comes out November 13th. I'm sure it's going to be good. It'll be entertaining.

Speaker: yeah ah Brand new poster, brand new trailer for Dexter Resurrection coming out first next season on October 30th. Brand new looks of characters coming back, brand new villains of the show with with the guy from... ah um Last of Us and Dan Stevens from Legion and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Speaker: Brand new trailer for a movie called Animals, starring Ben Affleck, directed by Ben Affleck, coming out October 9th on Netflix. He must have a deal with Netflix because he had that other movie come out. Yes. Yeah, he and Alex Hackerty.

Speaker: That's it for trailers box office spider -man brand new day for a couple weeks ago 18 million for Labor Day weekend ah Last weekend though. It was dethroned for the first time in nine weeks 1. Practical Magic 2 which is a remake of a movie that came out 30 years ago.

Speaker: that I've never seen. But it's got horrible reviews, but it must have a lot of nostalgia appeal because people went and saw it and saw it for $30 million. a dollars worth of box office and made it number one.

Speaker: It's been a very new day. Fell to number two with $8 .4 million in the Odyssey. Still at number three with $7 .4 million in the ninth week. so Kind of crazy. Spider -Man Brand New Day passed $2 .4 billion worldwide, third highest grossing film of all time behind Endgame and Avatar. um The Odyssey passed $1 .6 billion worldwide, set to become Universal Pictures' highest grossing film of all time.

Speaker: um Summer of 2026, now the highest grossing summer in domestic box office history. 2013 held that record. And Tom Holland. has earned $936 million dollars in 47 days. So that movie, making it the number one movie domestically of all time.

Speaker: ah Behind Force Awakens withheld that title for a little over 10 years. Also, Tom Holland is the highest. paid Ever. Actor of all time.

Speaker: Behind So Kravitz was Avatar, Avengers, Guardians. He is now number one. Due to the back end of everything. So that's incredible for a kid that's only 30. So that's amazing. Just to be talking about box office domestic all time, Spider -Man number one.

Speaker: um He was the Butcher. He was a big guy. He was also in a rock band. He was in a metal band. He played guitar or bass. I can't really tell what that is from here, but um I loved him. He had a lot of charisma. We saw him in Limitless for the very first time before AEW we saw him.

Speaker: With the blade. I love that gimmick. I love that tag team. Then they went to AEW from the very infancy of that. they left I think they left a couple of years ago. They've been in the independents. I think they went to TNA a little bit.

Speaker: But yeah, he passed away. He was in his, I think, in late 40s. But yeah, art rest in peace to him. um And... The Emmys happened while we were away. couple We're going to talk about briefly the winners. um Best Outstanding Limited Series, dta yeah DTF St. Louis. That series was okay. I thought it fell apart towards the end.

Speaker: I know you love him. Tom Palfrey. and In a ah yeah drama a series called Task, I've never heard of. I know you love him. I can't remember what you said you watched. yeah i wouldn't What the fuck is that even on? Yeah, he was in Banshee. What is Task even on?

Speaker: No idea. I'd heard of it for the first time this weekend. I have no idea But yeah, he's in that, and he's married to Kaley Cuoco from Big Bang Theory. They have kids together. The Pit. Number one drama series, Noah Wilde, number one lead actor of a drama series. um And Hacks, I think the last season, Gene Smart won for lead actress. And for the very first time in a drama series, lead actress was Rhea Sehorne.

Speaker: who did not get nominated for any of the seasons on Saw, which I thought after watching Saw was a travesty in her yeah on her. on the Emmys part, but she did get that for Polaris, which we both loved. so um And Vince Gilligan, also, very first time he's ever won an Emmy for for for writing. yeah For writing, yeah. So, yeah, yeah. So that's incredible. um And the big winner last weekend, which I don't think you ever watched, but I fucking loved it, and it was the Emmy. Yeah, you loved it, yeah.

Speaker: It won all the Emmys. and I think it had the record of all the Emmys of all time. but um ah Widow's Bay. Awesome show. um Outstanding actress, Kato kado Flynn. um Outstanding supporting actor, Stephen Root. Milton from Office Space. I was going to say Milton, yep.

Speaker: yeah ah Outstanding actor, Matthew Rhys. I fucking love him. I haven't seen him in anything until this. I know he's in the Americans. I think it's the Americans where he plays a Russian Asian who moves to America. hes He was known for that.

Speaker: Also in lead ah Lead. actor in a limited series for The Beast and Me. Never heard of that, but the first time an actor won for for for a limited series and a regular series in the same year. um And also, outstanding comedy series, Widow Bay. So they won a lot of awards, 14, most of all time in a single season of a comedy show. I believe the record before that was something last year. I can't remember what it was.

Speaker: Um, but yeah, uh incredible best directing best writing best casting best cinematography best music best production best sound so Right down the board, they won all the awards. Most awarded shows at the Emmys, Widows Bay 14, Super Bowl halftime show, seven.

Speaker: It's kind of crazy they were number two. The Traders, I don't know what that is, seven. DTF St. Louis, seven. Pluribus, six. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which was canceled, had six as well. ah The Pit 5, Spider Noir 5, we'll get get it into that in a minute. The Muppet Show had a revival for one episode.

Speaker: won four Emmys, still has not been been renewed or or or picked up for a whole season. Margo's got Money Trouble 13, love that show as well. Most awarded networks at this ah this year's Emmys, Apple TV, of course, Widows Bay being part of that, Pluribus being part of that, 128, HBO Max 21, Netflix 16, Prime Video 10, NBC 8, so all of them are streaming mostly for the most part.

Speaker: They don't want it to be adult -themed. They want it to be more kid -themed, and Seth Rogen wants it to be more adult -themed, like kind of like the 70s show was. but Still has not been picked up. We'll see about that. um South Park.

Speaker: Best Variety Show, I already said. Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Rob Reiner won a posthumous Emmy for coming for The Bear, guest starring on that. And the big thing we're going to be talking about the Emmys was Spider Noir.

Speaker: Spider -Noir won five Emmys, outstanding cinematography, outstanding sound editing, stunt coordinating, main title design, special visual effects. And it got cancelled.

Speaker: Um... Spider Noir after one season, Prime decided they weren't going to pick up a second season. Mostly because of the cost. And because we said it before, we said it on this show, that... um You release them all at once and people forget about it a week later. Even if you watched it, it doesn't have the long long appeal like Lanterns were talking about it every week.

Speaker: I mean... the biggest thing in the world um during COVID was that Tiger King thing. And that got a little pushed because it was word of mouth. But even so, like after a month, nobody talked about it. And that was like the biggest thing on the planet at one point. Um... Yeah, just... I like the weekly releases.

Speaker: Yep. But it had 11 Emmy nominations. It got canceled. ah serious Also, here are the twos. If you're a streaming service...

Speaker: Why wouldn't you want it to go two months so you get their subscription money for two months as opposed to one month if they just want to sign up for... So to them, it also should make more sense. That's just Netflix's business model. So for them, it's whatever. But like, yeah if you're like Peacock,

Speaker: If you're Peacock... And I mean, you should have started that show like first week of september and ended it like around halloween and said they're gonna drop it all october 15th Yeah does it doesn't make sense.

Speaker: Same with Ted. Ted came out one weekend, and then we forgot about it a week later, but it was an awesome show. It should have been a week to week. I re -watch Ted. I re -watch Ted all the time, so I technically forgot about it.

Speaker: but Because it's fucking hilarious. But yeah, that's that's another one too. like Peacock has been doing this. I think the Rian Johnson show is one of the few ones that they did Week to week, and then they just canceled after the season second season.

Speaker: so um But Nicolas Cage said he's okay with it. He thought the story was complete in his in his way. He's kind of... He's onwards and upwards, he says. It kind of sucks. I did like it. I did like the way they did Spider Noir. It was a great release. that They did black and white and colors.

Speaker: And they're already talking about doing another other spin -offs of the Spider -Man. series so who knows uh finalizing that right now but also talks of amazon being in talks to take over the emmys for a tv deal airing on amazon prime so we'll see about that I wanted to mention this. I saw it yesterday.

Speaker: And this little kid, bobby Bobby J. Thompson. You don't know the name probably, but if you ever watched Role Models back in the day. With Stifler. And Paul Rudd.

Speaker: He was a little kid, a little black kid in that. And now he's all grown up and he's going to jail for 30 months for gun charge. um Yeah, it just but you makes you feel old when you see that little kid going to prison now. He's not little anymore. so 30 months in jail for a gun charge. so Love that movie, Role Models. If you've never seen it, go watch it. oh get the yeah We got the nominations for the Toy Hall of Fame this year.

Speaker: Sometime later this year, December 10th on Netflix, they're doing The Murder of John Benet and Ramsey starring Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen. That's them as the parents of John Benet. And it's going to be talking, it's a it's a biopic. talking about what happened with JonBenet Ramsey in the 90s and how the family was kind of looked at as being the ones that probably did something.

Speaker: to her because she was found in the basement murdered. Yep. She was a pageant star. and and They think that the the the public outcry said that the parents did it, but they were proofd that there's no proof to it, no no DNA evidence, no nothing. so um comes out on december 10th probably talk about that and i know you don't like melissa mccarthy as much as i do but um Probably got to talk about that and see how that goes. Speaker: But, like, you can't nail it the first time, so you have to keep going back and making changes. And, like, even, like, his Zack Snyder's Justice League, which I absolutely love. I have it. I bought it twice on 4K, so fuck you. um he had to He had five years to think about different things that he could do in that movie.

Speaker: And then he went ahead and refilmed or he went ahead and filmed extra stuff for it. Like none of that, a lot of that stuff wouldn't have been in it. Like the whole, Epilogue wouldn't have been in it back in 2017. Yeah.

Speaker: um

Speaker: It's getting tiresome at this point, and it's ruining my Twitter feed as somebody who for years defended him on that app. And now I just don't even get into it with people because it's useless. It's like talking of politics. You're never going to change somebody's mind.

Speaker: Um... Yeah. But yeah, I mean, I I'd say he's in my top

Speaker: 15 approaching top 10 directors. He's a visual storyteller. He can't write a script for shit. Um... His writing partner is not very good at writing a script either. Um...

Speaker: He gets off a lot on the fact that Nolan is friends with him, and a lot of people... I mean... Being friends with a great artist doesn't make you a great artist. um You know?

Speaker: Like... Yeah, just... I don't know. like he to He gets away with a lot because people will always say, well... books no one backs him up this that he saw that was everything that came out recently is that he watched the cut of the odyssey in nolan's house before it came out Stuff like that.

Speaker: And it's like, yeah i'm ah I'm glad he's friends with Nolan. I'm glad no one Nolan helped his career big time. by He was like the fifth choice for Warner Brothers had. No one's the one that casted Henry Cavill.

Speaker: Um... Snyder wanted... ah The guy that played Deathstroke, Manzanello, Joe Manzanello, as Spider -Man, as a Superman, but he couldn't actually do it because he was still contracted to True Blood at the time.

Speaker: um nolan has done a lot for his career so i can see why he talks about nolan a lot and no one has always appreciated Zack's visual style, which You should. His visuals are incredible. Watchmen was 10 years ahead of its time.

Speaker: Um... Like, if Watchmen the movie came out, like, when the boys, like, season two was coming out, it would have been one of the biggest comic book movies. Probably... R -rated ones. Ever.

Speaker: Um... Like that movie was way before its time. Um... so the other thing the other thing res the other thing that The other thing that he said it was 300 is the gayest movie ever made in the history of cinema.

Speaker: Yep. That was one of the things. I mean, that's... I don't remember the other thing you said. It's just dudes and leotards. with what he do so yeah Sweaty glistening in on his camera with flares. I love that movie. I love 300. It's a great movie, oh yeah.

Speaker: I love Dawn of the Dead. that was I saw Dawn of the Dead and loved that. I saw that twice in theaters before I even knew who the fuck Zack Snyder was. Before all this Discord. This course came into my life around 2017.

Speaker: Um... So yeah. I don't know um I'm looking forward to seeing the last photograph. We'll see who picks it up, what picks it up. Um... To me it seems like it would be an a24 movie mm -hmm something along those lines.

Speaker: independent distributor or something like that. um like He's meeting with Warner Brothers, obviously, because he's doing the 300 series at Warner Brothers, which we talked about in the Josh Horowitz interview.

Speaker: Yeah. So... And a lot of people were like, oh, well, he's definitely coming back now. And I saw something he made a really good post about. explaining And they're like...

Speaker: explaining about like, yeah, they're going to cancel the DCU to reboot it. But instead of doing a full reboot, they're going to go back to a universe from 2016, which it was like a huge Twitter post. It was actually pretty funny. Um... but I mean... And a lot of people think he's coming back for Justice League 2 and 3 and...

Speaker: And everyone's like, well, bring Ben Affleck back. And Affleck doesn't want to be involved in the shit anyways, which is why he started artist equity to begin with so he doesn't have to deal with big studios anymore. Yeah.

Speaker: It's kind of a whole mess. like I don't even know if you can cast Ezra. I know Zack would work with him and... a second. Yeah. stuff like that. um He did ask him, because they talked about Jeffrey Dean Morgan, he asked him about Um...

Speaker: On the set of BBS, how... Snyder kept like saying, you know, flashpoints and... could be in the future. And Zach said that And he was asked about that, if Flashpoint was ever in the plans. He goes, the possible plans, it could have been. Um...

Speaker: So yeah, I mean It sucks what happened with him and Warner Brothers. It sucks that... a tragedy is what caused everything. I really wonder how things would have shaken out. had that not happened. Justice League might have been his last movie and they might have moved on naturally, but...

Speaker: The way it all happened is it... Anyone that's a huge fan of his, they'll defend him to death. um now has gasoline to put on the flat fire, I guess you would say. Yeah.

Speaker: But yeah. i can't I can't wait for the last photograph. I've been following it since its inception when it was announced. Um... and I hope it's not as bad as people are saying. Stuntman Mike on Twitter, who I follow, was at TIFF. um He's also a big Zack Snyder fan, so thank him for the great assault. Loved it. um But like he said, he's like he's he's our age, or maybe a little younger. Grew up on movies in the 80s, and the stuff that seemed to bother the critics

Speaker: are stuff that used to be in all the movies when we were growing up like all the action movies So it's one of those things like, Times have changed, so I'm sure it's not as bad as they're saying. Um...

They are finally announcing a condensed version coming out in theaters on October 28th. Back to the beginning, the the Aussie and Black Sabbath, back to the beginning. um A condensed version, probably two, two and a half hour of that concert. So cannot wait to see what they do with that. That was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. so Um...

Speaker: Brand new popcorn buckets we got digger talking talk about Tom Cruise doing promotion run digger with a with a boot I know you're going to like these. We got Jason from Friday the 13th. We got Michael Myers.

Speaker: The popcorn buckets are getting out of control, though. um and I mean, it makes sense, though. It's where they get their money. i Yeah, exactly. This is the one that's I'm going to get one of those words to work.

Speaker: The bucket with Guile from st Street Fighter. Cody Rhodes showing it off is a popcorn bucket you put on your head with a strap. um And that is going to be sold in theaters. And they also sell Just the Head with Guile as well. You can buy that. so Interesting. Let's get into some.

They're coming out with a new movie. there's hip pop figure of that um and some hobbit uh lord of the rings figures we got uh figures from the hobbit we got a sauron there glow in the dark sauron standing on the ring of power

Speaker: Harry Potter we got new Harry Potter figures one jumbo sized jumbo sized Harry Potter. We got Remus Lupin We got Severus Snape. We got Wormtail There we go. And some Wicked. Nobody talking about Wicked anymore, but there's some Wicked Pops. And Flubber.

Speaker: Robin Williams flubber from the 90s. Bring new pops for that as well. Going into the Hot Toys reveals of the week, we got the first costume of Victor Von Doom from Doomsday. Official look of that. We also got a Wolverine from the game Hot hot hot Toy figure. um Comes with, it looks like a more Omega Red, maybe another figure as well. Or maybe it comes with that. um So yeah, there you go.

Speaker: And Peter Parker. We just talked about Spider -Man 3 today. Peter Parker with the black Venom symbiote, the dancing scene in that movie. um You can pose him and to do that in the Hot Toys figure. So there you go with the Venom symbiote coming off of his shoulders. um And Spider -Man at the end of of No Way Home with a brand new costume. We got a brand new deluxe version of that.

Speaker: And yeah, there's some hot toy figures Speaking of Marvel, ah the next thing coming out for MCU is Vision Quest, just in a few weeks. Coming out on Disney +, brand new series, the end of the WandaVision trilogy.

Speaker: um And they're saying that that Vision Quest is going to do give a fresh... Fresh. perspective of Iron Man's death from the eyes of AI, from the eyes of Friday, who was his AI at the time, um where she what happened with her when he died. and reading his vitals at the time and what how kind of she how that how she traversed that moment. So it's going to tackle that because there is a human aspect of that in this show. all the all the AI become humans, so...

Speaker: We'll have to keep an eye on that. Their brand new posters for posters for Vision Quest come out this week with um with Speed, with Ultron, and with Vision. So I got some brand new pictures here of the show as well with all the AI robots turned into humans. We got Ultron and Vision sitting in a library by the looks of it. We got Speed and another character. yeah I cannot wait. Love this. Love Vision. Love Marvel. So cannot wait for that. I got some X -Men casting news this week. I'm excited for this one.

Speaker: We've been talking for a while that they're probably going to start off with the first basic... group of the x -men in the x -men movie based from the x -men number one from the 60s um and a prominent part of that group is angel and they cast angel this week with um with an actor from gen v Ace adjournment.

Speaker: um He played the kind of the schizophrenic. um Mutant or whatever in Gen V. He's going to be playing Angel. I like that a lot. a love yeah cast Great actor. Great casting for that. so yeah The first issue of X -Men and of course the only casting we haven't had from that movie. Iceman and Beast.

Speaker: And we've got Cyclops, we've got cycllo we got Jean Grey, we've got Professor x Xavier. we got We don't have a Magneto yet. I'm not sure we're going to get Magneto in the X -Men reboot. but Yeah, we'll wait and see.

Speaker: Matt Reeves has renewed his deal with Warner Brothers to produce more series for the studio. Of course, he did The Penguin. That was a great show last year. But yeah, not no word on that if there are going to be more shows in the DC Universe or other projects in his catalog or whatever it's going to be. But um he is going to be doing a deal with the Warner Brothers. So keep an eye on that.

Speaker: Sebastian Stan says, the the Batman Part 2 felt like making The Godfather Part 2. Went on set, looked around, and was like... This is like making fucking Godfather Part 2. um Don't know about that high praise, but yeah, we'll have to wait and see. Wasn't a huge fan of Batman Part 1. I know your you love it. It's your favorite Batman movie, one of your favorites. you so Zack Snyder. Oh, here we go. This is the other thing. I had it in here. I didn't think I did.

Speaker: Zack Snyder says he'd love to make a film adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns outside of the main DC universe. That was the thing I was thinking about. That was one of the things. Okay. yeah Yes, he's been talking about that for a while. He's been talking about that forever, but now he wants to go back and and do it outside of whatever James Gunn is doing.

Speaker: That was the other thing. We won't get into it because I'm basically just... spent 20 minutes talking about him. on The other thing... The other thing I didn't hear. In the interview, he said... um He said um in the interview, he did say... ah if you get to He basically cements himself like legacy -wise if you get to direct a Watchmen movie and the Dark Knight Returns movie. It's basically what one of the reasons why, besides the fact that it's like one of his favorite comic books. Um...

Speaker: But yeah, we'll have to see. Wait on that. um It's really, I mean, people think that he's in coach with Abdel Doulouki. Deluca, but... They aren't in charge of the DC as of now. We'll see what happens when Paramount buys it.

Speaker: um So we still have to go through James Gunn for that to happen. The other thing he said... The sex in movies is weirdly gone. I don't understand it. Eroticism in movies has somehow somehow been stomped out. We need an NC -17 movie that's a hit. If we had an an erotic thriller that was an NC -17, it was an IMAX. And everyone had had just...

Speaker: go do it, maybe that would lift the stigma. So he wants to see an IMAX NC -17. Teen Dark movie. I mean, I feel like some of this is like tongue in cheek. It is. I know it is. Because the reason why you don't see NC -17 movies is because...

Speaker: You cut out Half the audience. More than half the audience is going to go see it. Way more than half the audience is going to go see it. yeah um So it would be tough to decide, like, I guess if you could do one for like $2 million dollars and make your money back out in theater or something, but...

Speaker: I don't know. I mean, I feel like a lot of that's like tongue -in -cheek, but I do agree with him on the the sex in movies is weirdly gone, even R -rated movies. Well, we say that all the time with comedies. There hasn't been a good R -rated comedy. We say that all the time with comedies. Yep. In a long time.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, man like if we get like one that's like... mid to bad and we like it even more just because it's like oh at least we laughed a few times in it like you know oh But but it's it's true. I mean, yeah, sexy movies, we were growing up in the 80s.

Speaker: and In the 90s, it was in pretty much i every R -rated movies. And there also was like, in general okay, not NC7G movie. How do we get a nice R -rated, hard R movie?

Speaker: That's a big hit that's not... a pre -existing IP. Um... We need more of those. Um... We need more of those and throw your sex into that one.

Speaker: But I mean, It's going to be like that that episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia where they're like... writing the Dolph Lundgren movie and they want full penetration. Um, It's a great episode of All Is Sunny. I have to go back and watch A Solid Sun because I'm behind about 10 seasons, I think, of it.

Speaker: I need to go back and look at it. It's on my list of things to do. but Got brand new posters for Clayface. I thought we may be getting a small trailer this week, but we didn't. But we got some brand new posters. Look awesome. It was next to... Resident Evil. um Not a new trailer, but the the good trail the newest trailer is on Resident Evil.

Speaker: Cool. It comes out October 23rd. Excited for that. And finally in news, we've got some looks of Gorilla Grodd. ah being filmed currently. um And him at a graduation ceremony in a gown, cap and gown. And he was also singing in an acapella group. Him and the also just on college campus doing college campus things.

Speaker: And so. He was In college at the same exact time as Clark Kent Kal -El Superman from Superman 25. Okay. That was... also released that that's when these photos take place with them in college at the same time together.

I'd love to see it. I mean, if you see Endgame...

Speaker: On Friday. I don't think of they're showing it Thursday. Then we'll be recording the podcast like 5 o 'clock at night. So let's not do that. Yeah, I'm I'm going to wait. I'm going to get the spoilers and just talk about them. I'm probably not going to see it until it goes on Disney+. plus um Like we talked about with streaming and binging, have not watched Chad Powers. They released all those at once. Have not watched all of Neely.

Speaker: Nearly they released all at once have not watched that Brand new movie on Apple TV. Haven't had time to watch it, but this is with Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh called Mayday. um It was getting good reviews at the beginning of the month. Have not watched it.

Speaker: also on our plex One night only. um that's a That's the purge meets dating. Movie came out. It's on there. um And end of Oak Street. end of oak street's also on there and i'm getting i'm getting horrible reviews of that i keep hearing so That's on there as well if you want to watch that review. But they're there. If we want to watch it, we have time. Who knows? Cool.

Speaker: But... That's it. We'll definitely talk about Tony. I may watch that. if you have If you give it a good review, I may watch it. We'll wait and see. but That's it. I've heard it's fantastic. So, yeah and it's like, it's his earlier days when he's like cooking. So, and that kid from the holdovers, holdovers were my favorite Christmas movies to watch after Christmas.
