Speaker: Let you go first this week. Okay yeah I have something very quick. Um... The green arrow, I think I show this the omnibus by Kevin Smith Yeah, it's fucking it's a beefy boy. I'm kind of reading this and Jeff Johns' Green Lantern run right now.
Speaker: just switch it up between the two. But yeah. It's very good. I love Kevin Smith. You love Kevin Smith. Yep. So yeah. Cool. Yeah, it's a nice set. And my birthday is in two days. and I have picked up said package.
Speaker: It's the best wrapping paper ever. Wrap it with baby boy wrapping paper. Um... kind of have a feeling what it is because We're talking a lot about them.
Speaker: And... My suspicions are correct.
Speaker: Of course the writing is backwards. It's a lightsaber.
Speaker: They really do package it nicely Yeah. They do a good job over there.
Speaker: for it. Oh yeah.
Speaker: That's a a two button I want to get your two buttons. So if you hit the top button three times it turns it on Or no, you hold it. Sorry. Power on.
Speaker: That one's called the Judger. it's It's a really good, I was looking at reviews, it's really good for like swinging around and stuff. Um... It's a it's really... decent lifesaver for You have to take the dude off the bottom. You have to do that after the show because it's it's a whole thing. just I see it. I see it, yeah. If there's sleep for it.
Speaker: Well, yeah Advertex? Yeah, thank you. That's awesome. That's one thing I don't have. um If you turn it... uh turn the blade off by hitting the top button again that Then you can hit the bottom button once
Speaker: at last we will have revenge Now turn it on again. a That's how you change the sound fonts I think there's like 23 of them.
Speaker: And each one sounds different from when you swing it around and stuff like that. Stop.
Speaker: I wanted to get you that so you can check it out and potentially be when they... When you get a decent price on them, you can get your Dooku one that you want so much. Thank you so much. yeah you off to duke go It's really nice, but...
Speaker: I like the... um Duke of Worm. Did we talk about on pod or off pod? I think it was off pod. Off pod. yeah how do you turn this how do you turn it off hold down um hit the bottom button times Bottom button three times. Master Yoda.
Speaker: Nope. i never hear the tragedy. of dar plager's ha wis later too And that's how you switch blades. There's a little instruction manual.
Speaker: on how to do that and there's an app and you can do all that stuff Oh, that's cool
Speaker: Yeah, I can't figure out how to turn it off It should be you bottom and button like three times. I believe.
Speaker: But they're a lot of fun to literally just sit there and swing around. Especially with a lot of Star Wars movies. Yes Does it shut off eventually? Uh, no. Just turn up the turn off the thing before you put it in. The blade.
Speaker: Ciao, buddy.
Speaker: Okay. And in the instruction manual, yours would be, because it's for like all of them, yours is a two -button SMB. in the instruction manual. Okay. That's awesome. Thank you. Yeah, this is don't have a I don't have a lightsaber, so this is awesome. Yep.
Speaker: That's a great starter one. this um Display stand. That's awesome. Yep.
Speaker: And you just buy a wall one on Amazon for like eight bucks if you want and you wanna to put it display it with the it Oh yeah, plug, what's that thing? Is that for the base? What's the blade plug for when the when you don't have a blade and I put the blade plug in? So you don't get custom the stuff in there when you're just displaying it.
Speaker: Very cool. Very cool.
Speaker: I like the packaging too. Yeah.
Speaker: Thank you.
Speaker: Then over here. Alright, let's get back to the show. Yeah, that was awesome. Love that. There's really no way of hiding what that was, by the way. I know, I told you. I'm like, as soon as you pick it up, you're going to know what it is. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker: but Let's jump into the show. What we watched, not a lot to talk about this week actually, but we'll we'll break down what we have seen. Um... And we'll break down lanterns. Oh, shit, wrong one. We'll break down lanterns.
Speaker: um Episode 3. It seems like this show has been on forever, but we're only into three episodes. It's kind of one of those... That's because of all the goddamn online chatter, too. that too that's all your timeline is yeah it a it definitely ages you reading all especially this last episode it was All the racism came out of it.
Speaker: One of the reasons why it feels like it's been on is because we've literally all summer had a show at 9 p .m. to watch on HBO. All summer. It's been nuts. Since early June. So... um That could be why it feels like it's like every Sunday night we have to get to to HBO to watch something at 9pm.
Speaker: Yep. But yeah, this one is all about the... Dean. beginnings of Jon Stewart. and how he was chosen by the Guardians.
Speaker: At a very young age, Kind of. um They were kind of, at the one time, nineteen ninety when you say 1996, I think it was. when they were starting to try to find replacements for Hal Jordan.
Speaker: um And the very first one, one of the ones they try to find is Jon Stewart's father. But he is so... ground up with fear the minute the Guardians put a bubble around him.
Speaker: That... When they ask him... are you so are you fearless or what are they asking i can't remember the exact wording They ask him, are you fearless? And he's he's like, no, no, I'm scared.
Speaker: Obviously, they want somebody that doesn't have fear because Yellow... If you know the lore of Lanterns, Yellow... rings, yellow lanterns, Boop. revoke fear.
Speaker: That's how they get their power. And you have to be very mindful. fearless in order to be a Green Lancer and that's what they see in eventually on what they see in Jon Stewart and that's what this whole episode A little bit of a war case too because like it's also based around like willpower and stuff but it seems like they don't really talk about that aspect of it they just talk about they want you to be resistant to fear because I'm assuming at this point Sinestro has become Sinestro.
Speaker: and been the Yellow Lantern and left the Corps and all that stuff, yeah. he's Well, he's definitely in jail. He's in prison. um he's In 2016. Yep, he's killed a Guardian. of so Of some sort. We don't know any any more than that.
Speaker: We're getting lore. little by little in this show, which I love. um But we're not getting the full, like, oh, here's the background, here's ah here's a whole entire flashback sequence of whatever happened on OWA. Mm -hmm.
Speaker: we're just we're just knowing that there was a coup sinestro was involved the sinestro is almost best friends with Hal Jordan. um so Hal Jordan's the one that puts him in prison, but...
Speaker: Their connection is so strong that at the end of the episode, the end of the last episode, he goes and visit visits Sinestro in prison to... Kind of. Find out. What's going on with the Manhunters? Who are the Manhunters? What are they? That's the whole mystery of this whole show.
Speaker: What do they want on earth? And he said, well, that's the second that's the second thing you have to worry about. How is it with Jon Stewart? Because Sinestro knows that... Jon Stewart's not there as a...
Speaker: As somebody who's going to be another Lantern, Jon Stewart's there to... Replace Hal Jordan um And that's kind of... that's kind of go He's trying to put the fear in Hal again. You're being replaced. You're not having...
Speaker: A partner you're being replaced. So that's what this is all leading to I think this episode four is going to tackle that even more. We're going to get some more of Sinestro, more of Hal, their meeting in the prison on Oa.
Speaker: Um, But, yeah, we see the Guardian, Laura Linney. Laura Linney it has been in a lot of movies. I can't think of one the ones off the top of my head. I know she was in Ozark, and the creat the creator of Ozark does this show. He's a showrunner or the creator or something of this show. One of the showrunners, yeah. Yeah, one of the showrunners. So she was in this. She plays the human form of a Guardian.
Speaker: She goes back. in 1996 and meets Jon Stewart's parents. um The mother played by Peggy. from Hamilton. She's been in a whole bunch of other things since Hamilton, but that's where she's from.
Speaker: um If you've seen that. um But goes back to that point. And kind of says, if you can distill... fearlessness into Jon Stewart from a very young age.
Speaker: By the time he's old enough... We may possibly give him a Green Lantern and he may become the Green Lantern. So from that point forward, his parents are like... That's our mission.
Speaker: make this kid fearless and we've seen it a couple times i think it was one of the first maybe in the first episode or second episode, where we see the apple on top of Jon Stewart's head and his father shoots it off of his head.
Speaker: That's where the distilled... of fearness fearlessness comes from at a very, very young age. and they And they do that throughout the series. At one point in this episode, he's in he's in a minivan or a a station wagon with his family.
Speaker: They're listening to the Outkast album, which we'll get into in a minute. And they're listening to the Outkast album. He's singing lyrics to an Outkast song. and the parents stop in the middle of the ghetto. And tell him, get out and walk home. in the middle of like this hood like this really really decrepit part of town And he does he gets out fearlessness and walks right through and walks walks by homeless people and everything else and has no problem with it So that's kind of the kind of shit they were doing.
Speaker: Um, the episode was called Outcast. um And my favorite one of my favorite top three outcast song plays at the end credits when it cuts back to 2016 right to the point where Um...
Speaker: The Guardians have kind of chose... Jon Stewart saying you're going to be replacing Hal Jordan, but don't tell Hal Jordan that. Um... And how Jordan finds that out goes to his parents.
Speaker: House to try to find Jon Stewart Because he knows he's going to be training him. um It ends up telling them and all of this and Jon Stewart wanted to be the one to tell them and Hal's the one that told them.
Speaker: um and From that point forward, they go outside, and Hal's like... you're I can't remember how he says it, but fuck you, you're not replacing me. um im i'm not i'm not I'm not leaving you this ring over my dead body, pretty much. um And then it leads off, and then Gasoline Dreams plays, which is one of my favorite songs from OutKast. Great epi episode.
Speaker: um We are not even halfway through the season. There's still a lot to tell. It goes through October, basically. yeah yeah But yeah, it's it's an amazing show. yeah There's the appearance of Jon Stewart there.
Speaker: getting a lot of lore, which we weren't going to get unless there was going to be a solo movie we weren't going to get in anything else. um This is going to lead right into Man of Tomorrow, which I think is going to be a lot more than people are expecting. um With all the casting news coming out of that movie, with everything that's happening in the DCU at the moment,
Speaker: i'm I'm almost guessing we're going to be getting at least half the Justice League in that movie. Sounds like Wonder Woman's going to be there. With Wonder Woman now and, of course, Jon Stewart's in there. Superman...
Speaker: Supergirl's in there. I don't think we're going to get Batman. I think that's going to be saved for a movie, either that or a or Brave and Bold. I do think... After, um... I wouldn't be surprised if after that movie comes out, maybe at Comic -Con or whenever they decide to announce it, they do announce a 2028 Wonder Woman movie. if That is indeed who she's playing.
Speaker: Yeah. Going into production or whatever, maybe coming out in 2020. Well, it comes out in 27, so yeah, 20... It all depends on when they go into production on it. But I would be surprised if they don't, if they announce a Wonder Woman movie. Right afterwards.
Speaker: There was news about eight months ago that they were fast -tracking Wonder Woman. Or a Wonder Woman movie. and if that If that's going to be um Paradise Lost. I can't remember what it was called. um If that's going to be the case, then that could be the movie that's being fast -tracked. maybe the characters being fast -tracked in Man of Tomorrow that may be where the news came from.
Speaker: Yep. But yeah, there's a lot there's a lot of DC stuff going on behind the scenes. I don't think we'll learn it until me maybe a first trailer comes out. They're saying December is what I heard. I don't know about that. but Um... yeah very exciting time to be a comic book fan with marvel and dc um and i like i said from the very first time i saw superman I just want to see more of this universe. it didn't He did open up a universe that I want to see more of.
Speaker: And there's a lot of behind -the -scenes lore in the Superman movie, like the mural on the wall of the Hall of Justice. I want to see that. yeah And I think we would have got that in a Sergeant Rock movie, which I think will happen eventually. But maybe that just wasn't ready for right now. Right. um Even though it sounded amazing, and having...
Speaker: having gi robot in there and having and having Sergeant Rock played by, wasn't it supposed to be Colin Farrell? I think. yeah There was rumor at the time. I don't know if that's still going to happen or not. but yeah i I want to see more of this universe and having a show like this dive deeper into a DC lore
Speaker: That you kind of already know from the comic books. Just if you know Green Lantern lore. Even a little bit of it. You kind of know how the Green lantern Lanterns work. And all of that. Even if you saw the movie 10, 15 years ago at this point. but By the way, that movie.
Speaker: A couple of things. That movie is like number three or four on HBO Max. People are going back and watching it because of this show. um The other thing, there is a scene when...
Speaker: When they send Jon Stewart for training. to go meet the very first time to meet the Guardian. Um... he They drop him into an abandoned mall. and they're walking through the mall and one of the billboards inside the mall Says Janice Cosmetics.
Speaker: Janus Cosmetics in the comic book is run by... The Black Mask. I can't remember his name in real in the in the comic books, his real name, but he is the villain, the Batman villain, the Black Mask, and Janice Cosmetics is run by him. That's the one Easter egg I wanted to mention in this episode. The other thing I wanted to mention is episode three, this week's episode.
Speaker: Hit 10 million viewers globally. In just three days. This was this was yesterday us came out yesterday or the day before. The pilot episode, since it's been out for, what, three weeks, two weeks?
Speaker: Has so had over 20 million viewers globally so far. So this show is huge. Getting huge numbers. People are loving it. um Numbers are going up every week exponentially, which is great for something like this. It means word of mouth and and people are loving it and coming back.
Speaker: So I love it. i i love the lore i love green lantern i love dc so it's it's a great show to get into um and i cannot wait every sunday night on hbo max if anybody wants to watch along Yeah, it's awesome. Let's see.
Speaker: Uh... Stewart saves the multi -universe, multiverse. I have not watched this week's episode. ah Ted Lasso, I have watched. Great show. Watch that. Reacher, I have watched. Great show. Watch that on Prime.
Speaker: Chad Powers. I did not know they were releasing the whole entire season. yesterday. I mean they did. And I have not watched it. So I'll well talk about that probably next week.
Speaker: But I did watch a Dolly Parton and Tim Curry marathon, in which I said i was in and threatened that I was going to do last week, and I have. I'm going to bring up some of the movies I watched.
Speaker: um for Tim Curry, I've seen Clue. And I've seen Annie. So I re -watched those movies. I love those movies. Particularly, like I mentioned last week, if you watch just Tim Curry's performance in Clue alone and just watch him for the hour and 40 minutes.
Speaker: um He's funny as hell in that movie. And Annie, he plays one of the Hannigans. He plays Rooster Hannigan. He's great in that. Bernadette Peters playing his wife. And Carol Burnett playing his sister. Great in that.
Speaker: um And I watched two movies I've never seen.
Speaker: What I wanted to see for a while, a comic book movie came out in the 90s. One of the first movies that Alec Baldwin was in, the movie's called shet The Shadow, based off the serial the comic strip, the serials that came out in, I believe, the 1930s, maybe 1940s. And it's all about this guy who... gets turned into this kind of a anti -hero who goes in the shadow, reads people's minds and thoughts and and uses their fear against them.
Speaker: kind of in a vigilante type of way and and takes them down. Overall, This movie was panned back in the day, 1993, 1994, whenever it came out. Overall, decent movie for the time.
Speaker: i can see i probably If I had watched this when I was younger, I probably would have liked it. But I just watched it now for the first time. this and The other one I want to watch I never saw was The Phantom with Billy Zane. I never saw that. I didn't want to watch it this week because I watched i wanted to watch The Shadow for Tim Curry. Because Tim Curry has a small, minor role in it. He plays kind of one of the villains.
Speaker: um I watched that for him. The other movie I watched, one of his iconic roles, he plays the devil. and He plays the darkness, I think they call him in the movie. One of Tom Cruise's first movies, 1986 Legend.
Speaker: Directed by Ridley Scott, one of one of his first movies after Alien. Aliens. Um... Alien, right? He didn't do Aliens. He didn't do Aliens. Legend is basically just a whole bunch of fantasy lore wrapped into one. It has elves, it has the devil, it has fairies, it has everything in there. um
Speaker: And it's for what it is, it's pretty good for the time. Again, it's one of those movies, if I watched this in the 80s, I probably would have fell in love with it. It would have been a classic for me now, kind of like The Goonies is. But yeah, Tom Cruise.
Speaker: One of his first movies, after he got his teeth fixed, because he was in The Outsiders to hit his teeth, called Jockey. and This is after that, right around the time of Risky Business, right around the time of of where he started getting his popularity and really making those big blockbuster movies. but Overall, great movie for what it is, fantasy. And Tim Curry is, when you see him on screen the last, I don't know, quarter of the movie.
Speaker: He's the best part of it. He just he he turns into a menacing character, devil -like character with the devil horns and everything. He's amazing in it. and I never saw it until this week, um and it's really, really good. I didn't want to bring that up.
Speaker: And Dolly Parton happened two days before Tim Curry died. She died. 9 to 5 I've seen before, but the other two I haven't. 9 to 5 classic. They just put it on ABC this week. um Did huge numbers for ABC. I think it was the number one show on a number one movie in their history for like the last 10 years or something.
Speaker: um so yeah everybody wanted to see that movie just because of dolly and what happened because she passed but um the other movie i watched the other two movies Was rhinestone With Sylvester Stallone.
Speaker: Sylvester Stallone wrote this movie. This is, I think, 1980, I want to say 1985. So it was right in between the Rocky movies. I can't remember when the last Rocky, I think it was like late 80s when the last Rocky movie came out. Yeah, 89 was Rocky 5, yeah. So it was right between like 3 and 4, something like that, maybe around 3. 1984 was like 89.
Speaker: And Rocky 5 was like 94 or something like that, yeah. Okay, so it's it's right in the middle of the Rocky series he put this movie out. where he plays a cab driver who Dolly Parton is a a lounge singer in a country bar in New York City. And he's a cab driver in New York City. and dolly sees him and says to her boss i could turn him into a country star And that's what the movie's about. and h She tries to turn...
Speaker: Um, Sylvester Stallone into a country star brings him into the and the into this into the into the little country town and and he meets she meets all he meets all the country people in the town.
Speaker: Movie's not that great because he sings in it, tries to sing country music. He wears rhinestones. Yeah, he's trying to be a rhinestone cowboy, but movie's not that great. Dolly Parton is good in it, but it's just... it She can't hold that movie up with with Sylvester Stallone being Sylvester Stallone.
Speaker: My favorite movie of the week. Is... is the movie I've been probably most excited to see. The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. It's a musical. And I mentioned it last week. The music in it is great. Starring Burt Reynolds, starring her. She's amazing. and this is This came out right after 9 to 5 or right during the time of 9 to 5. 9 to 5 was her first movie, first break in Hollywood.
Speaker: um But it's a musical based off of based off an actual musical. And it's amazing. I love Burt Reynolds. Going back and watching Burt Reynolds movies now, we're not seeing a lot growing up. um He's an amazing, amazing actor.
Speaker: um yeah and He's he's very he's very very much Burt Reynolds. like You hear the stories of Burt Reynolds, that's who he is. um and and I don't think there's much difference from what he was in the movie to his character in real life. but Overall, I love the movie. It was an awesome movie. And I'm glad I did this rewatch of all these movies last weekend. I knew we weren't going to be watching too much this week. We're kind of in a lull of new things right now. So, yeah, if if anything, in all of these movies, have you ever seen Legend?
Speaker: Good job, Chris. I don't think so. Yeah, go back and watch that one. Go back and watch that one. And if you liked musicals, if you have any inkling of watching a musical, but go back and watch Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Those are the two best movies I saw this week.
Speaker: With that being said... Let's jump into the news.
Speaker: And it's not a new segment without the trailer roundup
Speaker: I got a brand new trailer for Street Fighter coming out October 16th. It's a little over a month from now. The trailer looks awesome. It reminds me a lot of Scott Pilgrim. Not not in the movie itself, but it just reminds me of the aesthetic of the movie.
Speaker: Scott Pilgrim, of a course, is kind of loosely based off of video games anyway, so That's why you get the gist of it because a lot of the sound effects from video games are in this from that this in video game in the 90s specifically But yes, it looks great We see a great Honda scene in this I think it's an E Honda, yeah.
Speaker: Um... But yeah, it's great. It's just a great trailer. Cannot wait for this movie. I think I was more excited for this when I saw the trailer than I was for Mortal Kombat 2, which I liked. so Yeah, it comes out October 16th.
Speaker: Talk about that when we see it. Brand new trailer for a movie called Ink. Based off of UK, kind of like National national Enquirer in America, UK has their own.
Speaker: version of that. This movie is done by Danny Boyle. Of course, it's 28 years later. He did Trainspotting, all of that. But it stars Jack O 'Connell. We love Jack O 'Connell. Guy Pearce. And it's all about breaking breaking news, celebrity news, gossip news, whatever. Just ah scandal news in general in the UK. Trailer look decent keep an eye on that Brand new trailer for Flocker and law brand new poster for that as well comes out on Thanksgiving Day um Ariana Grande is kind of playing um Kind of playing the jack role where she's she's going to interrogate
Speaker: I guess, Ben Stiller's character a little bit throughout the movie. um But the the father, played by De Niro again. kind of falls in love with her because he kind of sees resemblance so uh overall The series, I love the first movie. The series kind of went downhill from there. But yeah, i I'll watch it because I do like the series. I like Ben Stiller. I like his repertoire with De Niro, so I'll definitely watch that. I think the first two were first two really good. first from Yeah, the first one's really good. The first one was really good.
Speaker: And we got a brand new trailer for the Harry Potter series on HBO coming out Christmas Day. That's the new houses of of Hogwarts. Those are the new flags of that, but we see some new pictures of the trailer here as well. Brand new looks of Dumbledore, are all the t -shirts at Hogwarts. We see the Weasleys on the bottom there, the Great Hall. um In the middle, we see what's speculated to be jimmy and li ah James and Lily Potter.
Speaker: um in a flashback scene of when they maybe they first met her when they were at hogwarts before they were killed by voldemort spoilers um we also see another picture of dumbledore we see a picture of the new snake Snape, and we also see Professor Quill. That's not Dumbledore, that's Hagrid. I can't see, there's a picture there. um And we also see Professor Quill.
Speaker: If you've seen the first movie, you know Professor Quill has a secret. wrapped up in that turban um and uh yeah i cannot wait to see how that plays out um and casting came out today for harry potter and the um And the Chamber of Secrets. And three major roles are going to play implications for going on for the next seven years of this series. They cast... Ginny Weasley.
Speaker: they They cast Tom Riddle, a young Tom Riddle who ends up being Voldemort. And they cast Dobby. The House Self. who's going to show up all in Season 2. um so very exciting and we last week we broke the news that um kit harrington is going to be playing um Gilderoy Lockhart. He's going to be playing the professor of the dark arts this season, second season, so you cannot wait how they retell this story closer to, I guess, what the books are going to be. So, yeah, cannot wait. Very excited for that.
Speaker: Box office last week, Spider -Man Brand New Day won the box office for a fifth week. $22 .2 million, not too shabby. Coyote vs. Acme opened up, number two, $15 .4 million. And The Odyssey, number three, for the seventh week, still in the top three with $14 .3 million. Spider -Man Brand New Day has become the third highest grossing movie of all time worldwide.
Speaker: um has become the first film since Titanic to spend an entire month at number one in the domestic box office, and today has officially passed $900 million domestically, the second film in history to pass the milestone. I believe Endgame is the first still, but I think it's rumor is's on the trajectory to break that.
Speaker: um And Tom Holland is now the third highest grossing actor of all time behind Zoe Saldana, of course, Guardians. She was in the Avengers, Avatar, and Scarlett Johansson was in all the Avengers movies. um So he's the youngest actor on the list, though. So he's he's he's huge right now. um And kind of tongue -in -cheek joking.
Speaker: um Coyote vs. Acme, number one non -insect movie in America. So they put an ad out on that. I do want to see that. um Not too bad for a $15 .46 million dollars box office. um Internationally made $8 .4 million. So total run worldwide $23 million. Not too shabby for a movie that was canceled last year and put in an input in a vault and finally released. So yeah. uh
Speaker: Box office, there was rumors. I don't know um how this weekend is going to be, but this could be the biggest weekend of box ah in of box in box office history if this weekend turns out, if people turn out in the theaters, in the movies. But we'll have to wait and see on that.
Speaker: Um... I want to mention this. We don't get too political on this show, but... This is something that is ridiculous we got to talk about. The White House yesterday launched a site. of MAGA remakes. called It was on arcade .gov if you want to go check it out.
Speaker: Mega Remakes of Arcade Games. Um... And rip -offs of these games on stuff that Trump's all for and and his administration is all for. There's eight.
Speaker: Tetris ripoff where he tries to to build the wall at the southern border. um There's also a Flappy Bird called Flappy Bill Ripoff. where you're where you're an eagle class clasping a ah bill from congress trying to go down to the national mall you're flying through pillars and stuff um there's a big there's a rio run where you're a border patrol along the rio grande Which is like Snake.
Speaker: um There's the supply line. I don't know what that is, but you sort school lunch to make America healthy again. um and yeah so it's just I don't know where this came from, whose mind it came from, but Trump must have loved it because he made a whole entire website for it. You can go check it out. Arcade .gov. They're all on there. Playable games.
Speaker: And it's kind of crazy how tongue -in -cheek he is and how... Just... doesn't give a fuck about anything and he's our president he's the president of the united states of america Let that sink in for a minute.
Speaker: Wow. um Howard Stern. Don't talk about it much on the show. I do listen to the show still, even after... all these years. He's going down to one day a week starting next week on the 14th. He is coming back, but he's also going to be turning his show.
Speaker: Into an hbo max show coming out three days later on thursday nights Um, so his show on monday is going to be the regular three three and a half hour show They're going to condense it into about a 90 minute hour to 90 -minute show on Thursday nights, kind of like he did back in the day with the E! Network. He had a show.
Speaker: Monday through Friday, and they condensed that whole entire week down to one show on Friday nights, I believe, back in the day on e on the e -network. But going back to network, going back to cable, going back to paid cable.
Speaker: on HBO Max so they can kind of do the unedited thing on there. So, yeah, I still listen to Howard even though it's not as good as it was when I first started listening 20 years ago when Artie was on there. I love Artie.
Speaker: ah Yeah, wanted to mention that. um It tires. I love this last season. A lot of people say it's the best season. It keeps getting better the the longer the show is on it on Netflix. um and It was picked up for a season four. Tires is great. Shane Gillis is great in that. um Shane Gillis was hired for SNL
Speaker: Got fired because he he was joking in in in his stand -up about Asians and a whole bunch of other shit. um They fired him almost immediately after they hired him for SNL. But this show, Gillian Keys, if you've never seen that, it's on YouTube. It's very funny. It's kind of his version of SNL. um that he did it all on his own and put it out on on on youtube
Speaker: But Gillian Keeves, check that out. Tires is his version of The Office, kind of. And it just keeps getting better. It's definitely one of the best workplace comedies around. So I laughed the whole entire season. I've watched it twice already. And I went back and watched the first two seasons. I've heard it's good.
Speaker: Yes, very good. Very, very good. um We talked about it a while ago they were gonna be making a live -action gargoyles royals TV show on Disney Plus and That has since been cancelled.
Speaker: They're not going forward with that. I don't know why. I don't know what happened there, but I did want to mention that.
Speaker: um And I think we may have mentioned it, we may have hinted to it could happen, but it was official this week that David Zayas, who played Batista in Dexter, is going to return for season two. Probably in the role kind of like Henry and her henry is throughout the series of like the of the flashback for Dexter and and kind of his conscious guilty conscience coming after him. um so Because he did, spoiler alert, he did get killed in the last season. but
Speaker: um yeah Coming back for Season 2, we know Quinn's in that season as well. So yeah I cannot wait to see how Dexter Resurrection, still filming I believe, turns out.
Speaker: season for season two. um Also, brand new series coming out on Netflix um based off Dungeons & Dragons, based off the Ravenloft storyline. Ravenloft is one of the most popular stories. It came out in the 80s. It's a it's a basically a story in a whole other dimension run by Strahd, who is a vampire. I just played a campaign with him about three years ago with my group.
Speaker: Sup. So it's going to be familiar territory for me. I'm very excited for it. Coming out on Netflix. The very first series, besides the animated series from the 80s, very first live action series. um Of course, they did the movie a couple years ago, but...
Speaker: Yeah, I cannot wait for that. Sounds very interesting. And we'll talk more about that when we learn more. But coming out on Netflix too is is pretty cool. um And brand new documentaries. First one.
Speaker: This one comes out on October 27th called... The one about matthewe Matthew Perry. All about Matthew Perry. Three -part docu -series. ah I don't know where it's coming out. Netflix. It's coming out on Netflix in October. Netflix is coming out with a lot of... A lot of documentaries in October.
Speaker: I think last year, October, there was a lot of documentaries too. That's interesting. They picked that month. I wonder why. I wonder if that has anything to do with the Academy Awards nominations. But anyway, done by... Matthew Perry's sister. She's a key voice of the series, so yeah, interesting to hear his story. And the other one is Leslie Odom Jr., who played... um
Speaker: Aaron Burr in the Hamilton he came back to Hamilton and they're doing a whole entire documentary about him returning to Hamilton for like the two months that he came back this summer. It talks about the the original cast recordings and reunions that happened this year, the 10th anniversary of Hamilton. So that's coming out. Not sure where that's coming out. But.
Speaker: um and There's a brand new movie in the works called wild man an action thriller described as john wick meets bigfoot Film follows Bigfoot who goes on a quest to retrieve the body of his younger brother while killing everyone responsible for killing his brother along the way. Sounds interesting.
Speaker: Um... yeah i don't know more about that other than than the tagline so keep an eye on that brand new poster for a movie I love Jay Burchell of course way back in the day Apatow movies a movie called The Stunt Driver Um...
Speaker: Him, the only other people we would recognize is Ben Foster and Ed Helms. um And, yeah, it it looks like an independent movie comes out the end of September. I haven't seen a trailer for it anywhere. I didn't really look for it. But based on the true story about a stunt driver.
Speaker: um I do love him a lot. I think he's underrated underrated funny. i don't I don't even know if he's funny, just maybe maybe nerdy funny, I guess you would you would call it. But I do like him a lot, and especially the Apatow movies, Apatow stuff he's been in. So keep an eye on that.
Speaker: A brand new look of I Play Rocky with Rocky and... Apollo Creed. Looks great. Probably one of my most anticipated things this year. Brand new look at Ty West Ebenezer starring Johnny Depp. We got Ian McKellen playing Jacob Marley. We got... Timmel Tillman.
Speaker: playing, I believe, the ghost of Christmas Present. We also see Rupert Grint there from Harry Potter. I think he plays the nephew of Ebenezer in the movie. So, yeah, very excited for that. I know i know you love Ty West. I kind of...
Speaker: I'm very mixed on the Christmas. Carol. There's only really but one that I like, and we mentioned it before. like It's the Muppets Christmas Carol. That was the other movie I meant to watch this week. I was going to watch Muppet Treasure Island with Tim Curry. I never got to it. But... Muppet Christmas Carol, I love that. I'm not a huge fan of anything other than that, but I will watch this. I do love Johnny Depp.
Speaker: I love Ian McKellen. I love Tramiel Tillman, and I like all the Ty West stuff he's done in the past. So, yeah, I'm very excited to see this movie, so we'll see. um And announced this week in Hathaway.
Speaker: has joined the cast of Days of Thunder 2, Days of Thunder sequel, and they put a date to it. for the summer of 2028, June 2nd of 2028. Sequel to the first movie count in 1990, starred Tom Cruise and his wife at the time, or they may have met on this movie, i'm Nicole Kidman.
Speaker: Nicole Kidman obviously had a falling out with Tom Cruise, not coming back for this movie, so they hired somebody. 20, 30 years younger, I guess 20 years younger, Anne Hathaway, who is in every huge movie at at the in the moment, so it makes sense. So yeah, Tom Cruise.
Speaker: uh 60 i want to say early 60s now still looks pretty young still does all of his own stunts still ah all involved in hollywood loves making movies so yeah i'm excited to see it we'll see and i'm gonna go back and watch the first one it's one of those movies i've never seen days of thunder so um Yeah, we'll talk about that later.
Speaker: um And GTA 6. That's the big topic right now. GTA 6 comes out in a little over... two months um this month a couple of weeks we get the wolverine game Which is going to be kind of a...
Speaker: kind of something to keep fans ah video games in check for a couple months until this game comes out. It's going to take up everybody's live lives for a couple years. GTA 6, we talked about it last week, that the relationships in the game are very much your partner. You can have an open relationship within the game, hold hands, and this and that.
Speaker: There are angry spouses online. who are saying that the relationship mechanics in the game is considered cheating. on your real life partner if you actually go into a relationship on the game. These are also...
Speaker: housewives that are just pissed off. My husband said I play too many video games. But yeah, it's ah I'm very excited to play the game, see how it turns out. They took a long long time for it. They delayed it a few times, so they're obviously putting a lot of a lot of touch into it. so Yeah, I cannot wait.
Speaker: um And speaking of GTA 6, we're getting two limited edition pairs of controllers for the PS5. ah with ah kind of the cel color tones of what the movies are the pastel purple and black and white and all that so very much miami very much southern florida type vibes so very cool um And announced today that next week on the September 8th and September 9th, we're getting two Nintendo Directs. ah The first one is on September 8th. That's Monday. No, that's ah Tuesday.
Speaker: And there's going to be a Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary half -hour Nintendo Direct. breaking down everything Nintendo. 40th anniversary of Legend of Zelda. We're probably going to get number one first look at the new Arc Arena of Time remake.
Speaker: um Probably the new console and anything else that we have we don't know. and There may be other stuff coming out. for Legend of Zelda we don't know about that we'll get new information on on Tuesday. um And on Wednesday, they're going to have a Nintendo Direct of everything else. So I don't know what games they're going to talk about. But The Legend of Zelda 1, I'm very intrigued to see what they announce besides the Arc Arena. Very excited to see. Other shots and maybe a full trailer of how that game looks. Because the little...
Speaker: Teaser that we got was awesome. um Gameplay would be great to see and how it... how it compares to the original and all that um and i'd love to hear and see what the actual console the limited edition zelda switch 2 looks like um because i definitely think it's in my future so We'll talk about that next week.
Speaker: And popcorn buckets before we get into the swag of the week. this is basically This is basically just a cooler. I just don't. Foam cooler that they're turning into a popcorn bucket. Popcorn buttons buckets are getting lazy. Let me tell you. You can buy this at fucking... At at at a sporting goods store or anywhere, Walmart, you buy a zip -up cooler. and That's basically what it is. but Yeah, that's the only popcorn bucket I saw this week, but that leads us into...
Speaker: Some swag. SWAG! Stuff we all get. Come on, son. You know that's right. i Got a brand new Hal Jordan from the Lanterns TV show with the lantern, with the ring, with the suit, with the mask. I'm guessing this is from the 1996 run.
Speaker: Right before he revealed himself to the world. And we also get the Batman new animated series. The one that was after the animated series in the 90s. This is the one that had Nightwing. This is the one that had Robin and Batman. um this is I think it came out the year after the animated series ended.
Speaker: and The na New Batman Adventures is what it was called. it was yes this it was in this is The New Adventures of Batman and Robin. Yeah, it was in the same... Right. Bane. Yeah. yeah Yep.
Speaker: so yeah Great video games from Nintendo. I've never played it. I never owned that game either. It's one of those ones I have on my bucket list to guess. It's on my... When I got the SNES that has like...
Speaker: preloaded with like five yeah dave is up next That's the only time I've played it. It's good. A brand new... Funko Pop with the comic in the background with Venom. Iconic of aconic cover with Venom with Spider -Man's reflection through his eyes. A new Funko Pop of that. Looks cool.
Speaker: Brand new Mondo. Love the Mondo figures. Brand new Mondo figure of... Um... Rip Moranis' character from Ghostbusters. I can't remember his name off the top of my head. I was trying to remember it. Lewis. um But yeah, very new character. Him is in the cartoon. He turns into a Ghostbuster. In the end of Ghostbusters 2, he turns into a Ghostbuster. so Excited for that.
Speaker: Um... I'm going to just put this picture on here and not say anything. If you're on YouTube, you'll know what it is. but Ectoplasm. There's brand new figures of that if you want that from South Park and Stan.
Speaker: See his father? um And today it was announced ah that the Hot Toys Thor from Doomsday is coming out. um This is the very first Doomsday figure they have announced, with all the pictures and everything. Officially announced with all the... all the ah all the accessories and everything but yeah very excited for doomsday and all the figures that are coming out of it um let's get into the dc news of the week uh they're coming out with a came out this week a weird owl uh world's of weirdest with superman and batman It came out this week.
Speaker: Um, and it's a team up with Weird Al Yankovic. Um, and I don't think, I don't know if it was written by him. It was written by other guys, but just featuring his likeness. Uh, where he goes into the fifth dimension with, with the imps and, and Mr. McSixaplex and all of that. Um, so yeah, it's, it's a interesting, funny story that they're trying to tell.
Speaker: uh this picture there of the devil and everything so Exciting? And the Batman 2, currently filming. Some pictures of Batman there behind the scenes on the Batmobile. I did see a picture of him stealing a Gotham PD motorcycle, a video of that today. i Didn't have that on here, but I did see that. So they're filming that currently.
Speaker: And Gail Godot insists that DC Studios boss James Gunn and Peter Safran told her they would develop a Wonder Woman 3 initially um and then they took when they took over the company.
Speaker: When asked on the latest Happy, Sad, Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz... um If Gunn and Safran ever told her they would be going in a different direction, she responded, they told me the opposite. They told me we're going to develop it with you, the third movie.
Speaker: She's saying a whole other story than what James Gunn said. Well, I mean, he did say that they all have the... chance to continue and then they just scrapped any idea any plans for that to happen i think Yeah. um He should have just started, I've been saying, he should have just started from the beginning, and even though he loved the Peacemaker character.
Speaker: You sure have just got rid of that too. Um, Yeah, sorry, from scratch. Are you sure this is scratch? everything, so... didn't look like any biases were made or anything and of course he said that you know if these movies do well they're going to continue but he said that to hopefully So people wouldn't just, you know, not see them because, I mean, nobody saw them anyways, but, like...
Speaker: so that they would have a chance to go on if they did well. And they, of course, did not do well either way. so
Speaker: yeah she but And she basically said the Henry Cavill situation was not handled eloquent eloquently either. So she's kind of defending him as well. So she must be talking to him behind the scenes. Same with Patty Jenkins, which...
Speaker: I don't blame the Patty Jenkins thing because Wonder Woman 84 is one of the worst comic book movies in current. and and current in current time so i lost the star wars gig and everything yeah That was yeah was a bad movie. um But yeah, also, I mean, I feel like Gal Gadot's career is kind of...
Speaker: She's literally just hanging on now as she's said that she'll be back if Snyder comes back. And it's like, yep, that's the only way you're going to work in a movie like... that size again because her new movie is I've heard one of the worst goddamn... One of the worst movies I've ever, like people are saying it's one of the worst movies of all time. Is it on Amazon?
Speaker: I don't know where it is, but it's getting bad reviews. There was another movie I was going to bring up that's getting really bad reviews too. I can't remember what it was, but I know that was one of them. Maybe I'll think of it later. but um Adria Adrano.
Speaker: who is in... She was in Andor. And she's dating she's dating Aquaman. What's his name? Well, technically a little bit. Jason Momoa, yeah. Jason Momoa.
Speaker: um But she has she is playing a mystery character. Mystery. In Man of Tomorrow. We've already said and it's probably Wonder Woman. But she's saying that the excitement of playing the woman that I'm playing gives me everything I need to wake up physically. The training is exhausting. But it's all for the greater good. She's pretty much basically saying I'm Wonder Woman woman without saying I'm Wonder Woman. I think what gave it away the first time was during the Supergirl press tour when they asked for more.
Speaker: what movie Lobo should show up in next. He said the Wonder Woman project. so okay To me, that gave it away like fucking months ago. ye Yep. Yeah, very exciting to see what the D .C. is doing. So we'll get we'll get into that as the months go ahead.
Speaker: Kit Harington on Black Knight's Future. Um, I don't think there's any plan. I think he's a wicked character. There's a part of him that... that whole ebony blade stuff where he where he killed or yeah the more he kills the more he gets and the more addictive He's such a great parable to addiction.
Speaker: i' Not necessarily calling out Marvel, but kind of in the same boat. like What happened? yeah of like yeah Kind of like What happened with this character? We had potential. wart What's going on? It's kind of cool that they they made him this character, considering the character Arthur Dane in Game of Thrones, who's like the greatest sorber in Game of Thrones in the books, is based on this character from Marvel. And in the show, they made Jon...
Speaker: They made Kit Harington and Jon Snow basically become like the new... greatest sword of all time, on this which he's not like that in the books at all. He's still learning, and he kind of sucks at sword fighting, but he's smart. um I thought it was kind of funny that he got cast in that and now they're just not doing anything with him. Because it's a cool character from what I've heard.
Speaker: It's one of George R .R. Martin's favorite characters in Marvel. Yeah, and it's based off of a whole history and a whole lore of that. um I don't know. The Eternals, I don't think we're going to see continuation of that much. If we do, it'll be little sprinklings here and there.
Speaker: And maybe series or movies, but I doubt we're going to get another sequel to that. um If anything... If we do... Go from... Ghost Rider to Midnight Suns. that where that's where we'll get a That's where we'll get that.
Speaker: The yeah Black Knight, but... um Into the Marvel News of the Week. um not sure if these are real i'm gonna say no
Speaker: But every time I see AI, it's hard to tell. But we've talked about the beginning of whatever Doomsday could be. And if if it is the X -Men going into the Tobey Maguire Spider -Man universe, um these are kind of pictures rumored to be what that could what could be happening when the Incursion occurs, when the X -Men go in there and try to save their world. But I don't think these are these are real. But I thought they were kind of cool. um But these are real. from the From the first looks of Vision Quest, coming out October 14th, just a little over a month from now, we see Jarvis and Edith meeting up with Vision. We see a behind -the -scenes picture of filming Vision on on the set. so
Speaker: um and Also, brand new character posters for Vision were released with the birth, death, and revision um scenario of the character throughout the years of Marvel and MCU. Excited for that show. The ending of the WandaVision trilogy. So excited for that.
Speaker: And reports are suggesting, it came out today, that Marvel is secretly beginning to work on a live -action Disney Plus series, potentially featuring characters from either the Young Avengers, the New Mutants, or some sort of a young... Cast.
Speaker: There's also been rumors of The Strange Academy maybe of being a series. but Um. This is definitely this is picked up by IGN. A few other media companies picked it up today, so I don't know. I don't know what what's going on behind the scenes with Marvel, but that's one thing.
Speaker: um And ah finally in news. Tuesday's not even out yet, but we already have casting for Secret Wars. um Young actor Noah Jupe.
Speaker: um Don't... Knowing what he's been in. I know he's been in Hamnet. I've never seen Hamnet in A Quiet Place. he was I guess he was a kid in that. I did not know though that. I just read that right now. ah But they already cast him in a very pivotal role in Secret oral Wars.
Speaker: People are saying an older version of... um uh franklin richards I don't think that's the case. You look at the kid's hair, you look at the kid. He looks like the Beyonder from the comic books, right down to the teeth, the curly hair, and everything.
Speaker: And Beyond Dark plays a huge part of Secret Wars. so um I think that's who he's going to be playing, but we'll have to wait and see on that. doomsday's not even out yet and we're already getting casting news for a movie that's just starting to film now so That's it for our show this week. Next week, we'll talk about Lanterns Episode 4. We may talk about Stewart Fielder's Save the Universe, Ted Lasso, Reacher, still currently happening.
Speaker: I'm going to try to get into Chad Powers. Did not realize the whole series released, the whole season released today or yesterday, but we'll get into that. Brand new movie with Ryan Reynolds came out on Apple TV today, starring him and Kenneth Branagh called Mayday.
Speaker: Getting okay reviews. I think about 75 % on Rotten Tomatoes. Going to watch that this weekend probably. on On Tuesday and Wednesday, we'll talk about the Nintendo Direct, any news that comes out of that. On Wednesday, the Apple new products are announced, and that includes the foldable iPhone. That includes the new Apple TV and a few other things that we are interested in right now. We'll talk all about that. I'm not getting the folding one. Don't get off my door. I don't trust it Wait for generations. Yep.
Speaker: Um, the paper season two comes out on the same day. Excited for that. And next... Tuesday. On Netflix, Mr. T, I Pitted the Fool, the documentary I'm looking forward to, comes out on Netflix. so Love Mr. T, love documentaries. So excited for that. yeah Speaking of that, on the Plex, I added a whole bunch of documentaries. Go check that out. You'll see some cool ones on there about comic books.
Speaker: um I finally get to start catching up on movies too and watch Disclosure Day this week. Oh, how'd you like it? Meh. Yeah, okay. fine Yeah, you a lot of people are saying the same thing. Did you watch it?
Speaker: Yeah, I i saw it, yeah. I can't remember if you reviewed it or not. oh Yeah, I watched it. It's decent. yeah Not his vets. Definitely not his best. I only want it for the i wanted the John Williams score. Could be his last yeah re school. it Sorry, you never know.
Speaker: The one thing I said about that movie was it would have been great if they brought in, when you see the stuff in that movie, it would have been great if they brought in the lore from E .T. and in all the scenes at the end where they're showing the E .T. or the or the the close encounters. It would have been great to see scenes from those depicted.
Speaker: through like the government, seeing the government yeah yeah looking at those. It would have been great to see that. Yep. Overall, decent movie. I reviewed it a few few months ago. It's probably something I'll never watch again, but it's Spielberg. to see a spiel burn I'm trying to catch up on my movies I missed. Still waiting for a brand new day, so maybe I'll wait until I get the 4K for that in like fucking December. Who knows? Did she did you order the one on Amazon?
Speaker: the 4k no is it available yeah you can make a pre -order and i did i pre -ordered it yep cool Thanks, everybody. We'll talk to you next week with a brand new episode. Very excited for Lanterns. That's the one thing we're going to be focusing on for the next four weeks. Five weeks, I guess. Five episodes left. So ah watch along with us, and we will talk about that breakdown Lanterns on Sunday. So thank you, everybody. We'll talk to you then. Peace.
