You are (metaphorically) what you eat according to Nutritional Psychiatry, which is a field of science dedicated to studying how the foods we consume impacts how we feel emotionally. This week I chatted with Elizabeth Gunner, Registered Dietitian and incoming student to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, to discuss the basics of nutritional psychiatry, how our gut and brain communicates with one another, and types of food we can eat to support a healthy microbiome and promote better mood.
