Introduction and Hiatus Discussion

00:00:31
Speaker
Keeper, where we talk about it all. From superheroes to wrestlers, we stand tall. and Kevin, the dynamic duo inside.
00:00:42
Speaker
Keeper.
00:01:25
Speaker
And it just abruptly shuts off. Hey, what's going on?
00:01:29
Speaker
What's up, Raymond? Not much. Good to be back. Took a couple weeks off. few weeks off. A lot to talk about, though. A lot of stuff happened while we were away. Watched a lot of stuff.
00:01:40
Speaker
ah We're going to give a few reviews this week. ah TV shows. few movies. went to the movies yesterday. Saw three movies. um You saw one last week. We're going to talk about big movie of the week. um Very, very high on it, so be be prepared for it.
00:01:54
Speaker
um But until then... haven't done this in a while. Let's do a FatFucks. First off, Heinz.
00:02:12
Speaker
first off hi We don't have any Smoothie Kings around here. I guess it's a franchise out west somewhere, but Smoothie King... of this news, they can stay the fuck away. and of this news, they're not going to come to the Northeast anytime soon, but Smoothie King has teamed up with Heinz to do a ketchup-flavored smoothie and bring it to the world.
00:02:34
Speaker
Yeah. Um... That does not sound good. But um you said we haven't done this

Food and Sports Talk

00:02:39
Speaker
segment in a while. We also have not done a T-Trace Sports segment in a while. And it's funny you brought this up because recently it was found out that 21-year-old player for the Red Sox.
00:02:52
Speaker
Our stud player does not like ketchup, and that's caused a big discourse on sports radio this entire week. Not really. So yeah, Roman Anthony doesn't like ketchup. Not a ketchup guy. I love ketchup.
00:03:05
Speaker
i don't even know who that is. Are the slides working for you? but Are the slides working for you? I don't even see them at all.
00:03:17
Speaker
The other thing I'd talk about, you didn't even know they took them off the menu a couple years ago, but KFC is bringing back the potato wedges. They were replaced with these weird fries that kind of tasted reminiscent of potato wedges, but they were never the same.
00:03:30
Speaker
They replaced something that was fantastic and splendid and just spectacular. and Yeah, I've probably been to a KFC in like 10 years. Wedges are always better than fries, though.
00:03:41
Speaker
there's none that in every There's none that's close to you. Like, the closest one is over here. That's like a half hour out of the way. If you're going to half hour out of the way, going to get better food than KFC. I'm not fucking getting KFC yet. Right.
00:03:53
Speaker
Because a half hour drive with KFC in your stomach is not going to help. If I'm traveling south, like but like when I'm going to Florida or something, and I'm like, oh yeah KFC? Or I can go to like a Chick-fil-A. This is before we go to Chick-fil-A. I'd rather go to Wendy's than KFC, honestly.
00:04:08
Speaker
Uh, I don't go anywhere. Chipotle, Wendy's, uh, fucking Pop- I love Popeyes. anywhere but Yeah, I haven't had Popeyes and so like stuff like that is just not doesn't go past Massachusetts.
00:04:20
Speaker
There's a lot of things. When I lived in Florida, there's a lot stuff I missed from down there. Last time I did Popeyes was when I got the pickle. They had the pickle-flavored sandwich. Oh, yeah, yeah. And it took me like an hour to get my food on that Sunday. Yeah, that's when it first came out, though, right? Yeah, it was like right when it dropped. Well, in general, that Popeyes sucks in Portland.
00:04:39
Speaker
But, yeah. Right, yeah, yeah. I remember the only time there was ever a Popeye's on my route, on my travels, was on the highway. to have them in the rest area. I don't know if they're still there anymore, like Kenny Bunk or somewhere. Yeah, they do. yep they're able to do Yeah, they do. There's Bojangles.
00:04:56
Speaker
There's Raising Cane's is the one you always hear about. Raising Cane's is another one, yep. That's in Massachusetts. Yeah, they're they're down there now, but they haven't gone past Mass. so like Just like Five Guys, eventually they'll they'll hit the border of New Hampshire and head up the...
00:05:10
Speaker
um Show and tell. We haven't done this in a month, so let's do it. All right. You go first. So many geeky things that we could pull off from the show.
00:05:23
Speaker
We've been collecting shit for years and now we're whipping it out. So it's time to showcase all the money that we wasted well.

Show and Tell: Geeky Items

00:06:06
Speaker
Oh, there is a, there is a warning for 911. Shelter indoors for a gunman in Wyndham. Isn't Wyndham in, like, Maine? Why am I getting that notification in New Hampshire?
00:06:20
Speaker
um Yeah, that was my show and tell. Okay. Oh, hold on. Hold on. I can't hear you. Oh, God, what'd you do?
00:06:34
Speaker
Are you there? I blame you. Yeah. Yeah, there we go. Yeah, the warning shut everything down. You're back. Okay. We're good. Well, since it did come out digitally yesterday, i figured this would be a good time to show probably the last Superman thing I'll show for a long time. Unless I get the hot toy.
00:06:52
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. It's still on the table. Nice. My 12 inches of corn sweat.
00:07:01
Speaker
Yep. Did you measure that correctly?
00:07:06
Speaker
Nice. That's nice. Yes. Nice shuffle, the addition. Yes.
00:07:13
Speaker
Indeed. Yeah, we'll talk we'll talk about at the end, but yeah, it kind of had a premature premature leakage today all over Twitter. Superman, we'll talk about that at

TV Series and Documentaries Review

00:07:23
Speaker
the end. but um What we watched this week, well, what we watched for the last three weeks, really, but um this week was, going to first talk about Dexter.
00:07:34
Speaker
ah We watched three episodes Dexter since we were away. ah The show just keeps getting better and better. Every episode is fucking fantastic. Well, Dexter is doing what he did in mi um Miami Metro. like This is the first time, especially this last episode that came out today, was the first time it felt like Dexter being the Miami Metro yeahp detective that he was down there.
00:07:58
Speaker
The blood splatterist. um And we'll get into that when we get into episode seven. But episode five was all about Lady Vengeance and involuntarily taking the fall for Harrison ah when dexter sets right when Dexter sets her up. um yeah Episode six, Batista comes to New York City and he teams up with the and NYPD.
00:08:18
Speaker
He finds out that Dexter's in New York, finds out that Harrison's in New York, um confronts Harrison, and... um and tells the and NYPD all about his theory of the Bay Harbor Butcher, which is the true theory, of course, yeah but um they don't know that. and They're kind of looking at Batista like, are you crazy? and then there's some Some of the points are maybe maybe it could be possible. but um And the Gemini Killer, who was played by dan David Dismalchian.
00:08:46
Speaker
ah You find out that in one of the craziest twists that I should have seen coming, don't know why I didn't, but the Gemini Killer... The Gemini killer named after the the the sign the the the sign in the stars, Gemini, is the twin sign.
00:09:05
Speaker
um And you find out that he is a twin and they and that he works with his twin brother to kill people. um and Dexter kills one of the twin brothers. And that leads up to episode seven.
00:09:17
Speaker
They go off into this retreat. The rest of the... It's Dismalchian. It's Cam from Modern Family. um And it's, of course, the Dink and and Uma Thurman. They all go to this retreat with Dexter.
00:09:30
Speaker
And Dexter confronts the other brother. Who and tells him that um do you you're a twin. Did you feel it last night at certain o'clock when I stabbed and killed your brother?
00:09:43
Speaker
And they have this knockdown, drag-out fight in the middle of this big, huge estate somewhere in New York. And it's just awesome. And then he kills him. um And makes it seem like the guy went crazy and attacked Dexter, but all in all, he actually could think actually confronts him and tells him, I'm the serial killer of so serial killers, which is a great, great, awesome... it's just What this show has done is brought Dexter back to what he was in Miami.
00:10:13
Speaker
and And what he lost through New Blood, right. Yeah. It's what he's lost since coming back in New Blood when he was up in upstate New York. This is not the same Dexter as that. It's the Dexter old.
00:10:26
Speaker
um And to the point where he goes to Dexter. Harrison wants to become a, for some reason decides he wants to become a detective. He wants to go into the police force. So he's applying for colleges and he goes to a lecture at a college.
00:10:40
Speaker
And this detective that works for the NYPD is guest lecturing there and Harrison has no idea. And he invites Dexter to this lecture with him to to look at this college.
00:10:53
Speaker
And this is the first time Dexter meets this detective who kind of already knows about Dexter because of Batista. And they have kind of this cool stare down that's very reminiscent of Dexter of old to the point where he's back in his element of the full blood splatter analysis mode where actually solves a murder of this, is it? The New York Ripper, whatever they're calling this mystery killer. The New York Ripper.
00:11:16
Speaker
The New York Ripper. yeah He solves the, he helps her solve the murder right right after the lecture. It's like, yeah, it's a long object with a sharp like axe tool or ah or a crowbar like tool And they weren't thinking of that. they're just thinking it was like They weren't sure what the weapon was. And Dexter was like, oh, is this because of the way the blood splatter was on the wall? He's back in his element.
00:11:36
Speaker
It was awesome to see that. It's definitely going to be that theory that you sent me. Yeah, I think so too. He was alluding to her being a hook. And there was that in season six when they go visit him.
00:11:48
Speaker
think it was season six or five or seven. One of them. on he He's swinging a hook around in the the hardware store. Yeah, do we do we want to talk about that theory now or do we want to hold off on this big spoiler or what it could be? Because if it's if it is the case, there's a big, huge connection to the first series. um something that hasn't even been Something that hasn't even been mentioned in the show yet.
00:12:14
Speaker
um Besides the Trinity Killer, do we want to talk I guess we'll talk about it. um Yeah. Trinity Sun. is the big rumor of being the murderant murderer in New York City, the Ripper.
00:12:26
Speaker
um Because of what you mentioned, because of that scene and when you show him yeah Jonah, and when you see him later on working at, I believe, a hardware store, um yes he's he's using that tool, the the the hook tool.
00:12:39
Speaker
um the I know what you did last summer. Yeah, yeah. um The other thing I wanted to mention, there's two things. The other thing was the song choice at the end of episode seven. I love ELO, Electric Light or Orchestra.
00:12:51
Speaker
When him and Batista have a showdown in the car and Dexter gives him a ride and warns him as they leave me alone. You're not going to like, if you think I'm the Bay Harbor butcher, but you're not going to like how this is going to end.
00:13:04
Speaker
Yes, it was. If you, if you, think you know who I am, that I would tread very lightly. Or whatever yeah is to Hank. And that's Hank's moment when Hank... and that's and dexter And Batista has his Hank moment when he puts a tracker into Dexter's car yeah to track him because he knows he's up to no good. It it was incredible. This last episode, not only the best episode of this season so far, the best episode of Dexter since...
00:13:30
Speaker
Six season. when was the When was the Trinity? That was four, right? Four. It may be the best episode since Trinity. Yeah, it may be the best episodes since Trinity. And we still have three episodes left of this season. There's ten.
00:13:44
Speaker
ah Last episode comes out yeah on my birthday, the day before my birthday. but um The other thing I wanted to mention, I think I have a slide. here There is one great photo that came out of last episode of Dexter, Harry, and Harrison all lined up. in there and and Dexter is teaching Harrison how to put on a tie. He's telling him how he's now Harry taught him how to put on the tie, and he's showing him how to put on his tie.
00:14:07
Speaker
It's really cool photo. I don't know if it's loading on there. Yeah, there it is. It is just there. Yeah, for some reason, i don't know why they're taking forever to load on my my end, so just have bear with me when I think they're not loading. But yeah, great series. It's on Paramount+. plus if you're If you were into Dexter back in the day, and you kind of lost track after after Trinity.
00:14:26
Speaker
Definitely pick it up now. This is great yeah great storytelling. Bringing storytelling back into Dexter in a way that makes you feel reminiscent of the past. And continuing the story of where you hope this character may go.
00:14:38
Speaker
And this is going to last for a few seasons from what from what they're saying. so um definitely working free yeah Definitely worth the investment of time. um The other thing I wanted to bring up, it aired the night and of our last episode was And So It Goes Part 2, the Billy Joel documentary on HBO Max.
00:14:56
Speaker
um This documentary is one of the best documentaries I've seen. I love Billy Joel music, so it kind of helped that too. the first The first part was really, really good because it was all the early stuff that was great.
00:15:07
Speaker
um The second part talked about um breaking up with his first wife, finding what's her name, Christy Brinkley, and getting getting in a relationship with her. Talks about how his ex-wife's brother, who was his manager at the time, stole all of his money.
00:15:26
Speaker
and having to deal with that. um Here he is making millions and millions of dollars, touring all the time, overworking himself to the point where he's in his 40s and he's already thinking of retirement.
00:15:37
Speaker
um And he does in ninety in the 90s. We'll get into that later. And bridging the European classical sound into pop music. At the time, you're thinking of pop music, you're thinking of rock. The influences was blues, doo-wop, soul, jazz, rockabilly.
00:15:52
Speaker
Billy Joel brought in this European classical sound into rock music. That's why, i like just to have that piano in there, doing all that doing all the piano work that he did. Reminiscent of what Elton John was doing at the time too, but just showing that and how his mind works in this documentary, it was fantastic.
00:16:10
Speaker
And like I mentioned, he retired early after he was done creating new albums. He was just done and in 1992, 1993 River of Dreams album. The River of Dreams song was big. That was his last huge single.
00:16:22
Speaker
um He retired in his early 40s and he was just done. And he's been performing like he's done concerts. He's done that, but he's never released a full album since the early 90s. um And he's done he's done classical. He's released classical albums. But other than that, it hasn't been anything to write home about. But um Yeah, great documentary. Two parts.
00:16:42
Speaker
Each part is a little over and um a little under two hours, about four hours each, I think. Yeah, it's really good on HBO Max if you want to watch it. um The other documentary I finished while we were away, um the Live Aid documentary. This was great, too. Don't want to get into too much about it, but it's it's not easy to stream it and I had to buy it on iTunes. If you want to buy it you can, but it may show up on HBO Max eventually because it's a CNN production, but um Talking about the creation of We Are the World of Harry Belafonte and and Quincy Jones. there' a documentary on Netflix about that. If you haven't seen that, watch that too.
00:17:18
Speaker
Planting the Scenes for a Worldwide Television con con Concert happens in Wembley in London. Happens at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, the big live age show that happened in 1985, which is what this documentary was about.
00:17:31
Speaker
um Episode 3 tackled the lead zeppin Led Zeppelin reunion um after Abon Ahmed died. Phil Collins joined in on the drums. There's some scenes of that. That was also scrubbed of any replay of this on DVD streaming. I don't believe it's on the YouTube stream that they put all the episode all the concert on.
00:17:51
Speaker
um And raising $40 million, dollars four four times what they estimated they were going to raise through telephone raising during the show. And then episode four tackled Live 8, which happened 20 years ago in 2005.
00:18:05
Speaker
um And they brought a whole bunch of modern... um modern artists at the time, Jay-Z there, there's a few other ones, big artists, Destiny's Child. But ah there that was basically just renewing the aid effort and trying to take the African debt and delete all of it from the world nations to delete all debt that the African nations had to so they would they could actually survive and pay to ah to help the the poor and the needy. so ah Great documentary.
00:18:33
Speaker
ah Live Aid when rock and roll took over the world, like I mentioned. It'll probably be HBO Max eventually, but it was on CNN and um and aired last last episode a few weeks ago. was really good. um Speaking of great shows, um unfortunately this one will not be back again, but Sandman Season 2 ended while we were away.
00:18:53
Speaker
I watched Volume 2 and I watched the finale, which was on ah July 31st. It just sucks that this show is not going back because it is really good. The casting is fantastic. all these most For the most part, all of these people that were cast in this show were unknowns before.
00:19:10
Speaker
um I cannot wait to see, except for a few, i canno't wait i cannot wait to see um some of these people come back in other roles, especially the guy who plays Dream. He's amazing, but Um, and what's her name? was in Game of Thrones plays Lucifer, but it's just, it's just really, really great comic, really good written show.
00:19:30
Speaker
and the universe was great. Even, even the dead boy detectives was great. Um, and having this whole, the whole group of people that can't remember what they're called, but the dream and his brothers and sisters,
00:19:45
Speaker
Looking over the world was fantastic. and It just sucks it's not going be back because Neil Gaiman is a sexist, I guess. I don't know i don't really know the the whole details of what he did. but Did a lot of shit behind the scenes that fucked up the series. Rape the people.
00:20:03
Speaker
They had to cancel it, unfortunately. It was a great show. um There's little bit of a spoiler. They resurrected the character, so if they wanted to continue this, it could happen.
00:20:14
Speaker
um The dream character was resurrected into somebody. I forgot to put the notes in the notes, but it was resurrected in one of the guys who plays in Alien Earth and also is in Game of Thrones. The black guy, he plays one of the Lost Boys in Alien Earth.
00:20:30
Speaker
Which going to into in a minute. Holy fuck. but um now This is on Netflix. If you want to watch it, it's a good it's a good ending to the series. um I just wish it didn't end on season two because it would it would have been great to see more of this. but um Another series is okay.
00:20:46
Speaker
um There is a great connection to Black Panther. And that's Eyes of Wakanda. Four episodes aired on August 1st. It was supposed to come out, I believe, in like two weeks. They rushed it up to August first um But four episodes aired, set back in the past. The only thing that this show didn't tackle that I wish it did, I wish it tackled how the...
00:21:09
Speaker
asteroid with the vibranium got to Earth. Didn't go that far back, but did go back to 1260 BC, ah way way back and back way, way back in time.
00:21:20
Speaker
And it followed this axe through time, a familiar axe you've seen since the first Black Panther film. It's the very first axe that Killmonger Steals. That's Killmonger, right?
00:21:33
Speaker
Michael B. Jordan. Yep. Yep. The axe that he steals um shows up way, way back in the past. Vibranium. And the show is all about Wakandans trying to get back their artifacts through time.
00:21:47
Speaker
And one of the artifacts is that axe. And the very last episode, episode four... um It's kind of bridge between that and modern day, actually, the future. Because a Black Panther from the way, way future, like 500 or 600 years in the future, goes back to a time in 1896 AD a d and tries to so tries to tell a group of Wakandans, like, you need to put that axe back here because it's going to set off an events that's going to set the Black Panther of now...
00:22:18
Speaker
our current time, the one Chadwick Boseman played, um it's going to give him the need to show Wakandan technology to everyone in the world. And then you have to make sure that axe is found by Killmonger, so on and so forth. That's how the story kind of goes um to the point where the Watcher shows up.
00:22:36
Speaker
And the very last scene of the show is Killmonger looking over that big, huge gallery. that This is the beginning of the first Black Panther movie. um So, I mean, and the episodes are 20 minutes long.
00:22:49
Speaker
It is canon to the MCU. This is one of the only shows, I believe... That is actual canon to the MCU. One of the cartoon shows. um But yeah, there's the Washer and Killmonger. Yeah, it was decent. It's like 20 minutes on Disney Plus if you want to watch it.
00:23:04
Speaker
um Another great show. Not as good as the first season, I don't think. But Wednesday Season 2, Part 1. The second part comes out, and I believe, in a couple weeks. But... um It's decent.
00:23:15
Speaker
Pretty good. um Sets up pretty much a cliffhanger what's going to happen to Wednesday for the second part of this. Comes out on September 3rd on Netflix. but um Yeah, it's pretty good. Decent.
00:23:25
Speaker
I like the first season a lot. I'm hoping in this second season will pick up. I know Lady i Gaga hasn't shown up yet. um She does play a big part of the series. I don't know who she's playing what she's going to be doing. But um she is going to be in the second part of this. So, yeah.
00:23:39
Speaker
um But the big show this week that I want to talk about just premiered on Wednesday or Tuesday. can't remember what day it came out. was Alien Earth.
00:23:51
Speaker
um On this show, I have watched and reviewed all of the Alien movies, thank God. the only the only ones The only ones you have to really worry about with this show, though, ah by the way, this show is on FX. It is a full series.
00:24:06
Speaker
um First two episodes aired this week. They're on Hulu if you want to watch them. but um This is a prequel to Alien. Timeline, I believe two years before Alien um is where it's set. And there's an alien ship that gets taken over by one of the, well, one of the xenomorphs, but also one of the android bodies. one of the One of the guys takes over the ship, kind of like reminiscent of the first Alien movie.
00:24:32
Speaker
And Crash lands this ship with all of these alien specimens into Earth. um And there's a big, huge thing going on. The cast of this looks great from what we've seen so far. It's been really good so far, yeah.
00:24:46
Speaker
The lead android woman, who is, well, it's weird because she's a girl. they're little They're little kids. they're They're dying of a terminal illness, and their minds go into robots. There's a new technology bringing their minds into an android body.
00:25:03
Speaker
So there's this young 11, 12-year-old girl's mind goes into this android who looks like she's 30 or maybe 25 or um and they call them the Lost Boys.
00:25:14
Speaker
And there's a lot of Peter Pan references. This this show couldn't have been made without the Disney disney connection. lot Peter Pan references, Lost Boys. um i love the story of her um and how she was terminal. Her brother in real in real life, still alive, works for the gut works for the army, um thinks that she's dead, um and she knows and she's been keeping an eye on him, seeing what he's doing, it finds out that he goes to to confront these aliens that that landed.
00:25:42
Speaker
and worries about him and tries to talk and talk the government into letting her to go save him and that's what ends up happening um great episodes first two episodes this airs every week up until the finale I don't know how many episodes there are but it's really really good it's on FX if you want to watch it um or Hulu um Another great show.
00:26:04
Speaker
i was very high on it. um WWE Unreal. The show would never have been made in the if it wasn't a podcast generation because of what Bruce Prichard did.
00:26:15
Speaker
um Opened up the doors for telling background stories of wrestling. This came out a couple weeks ago on Netflix. And it told the story of everything this year in WWE up until WrestleMania. And it was fantastic.
00:26:28
Speaker
Talked about the Raw and Netflix in Episode 1. Broke down the whole entire gorilla position for the first time seeing it be actually being built. how it works, how people react to going out to the crowd, how Triple H kind of runs the show on monitors.
00:26:43
Speaker
Episode two it talks about the Royal Rumble and actually giving Jey Uso, quote, the rocket ship um and and telling the story of how he's going to win the Rumble. um And third episode talked about the Women's Rumble. Chelsea Green, shel's ah chart Charlotte fair Flair were the big parts of that.
00:27:00
Speaker
Episode four, all about the Elimination Chamber and John Cena's heel turn. That was a great episode. great Being brought in this this much into wrestling, I know a lot of old wrestlers must fucking hate this because the kayfabe was so protected back in the day. Undertaker, we've said it before, so protected. and they must They must be kind of like cringing at seeing this. but Episode 5 tackled WrestleMania, John Cena winning the title, and and kind of all the storylines colliding in that one moment. a Great time of year to be doing They're going be doing this again.
00:27:31
Speaker
comes out next year. I believe they're filming it currently with with the whole Lesnar thing that happened at SummerSlam. All of that stuff's going to come up. I'm not sure if they're going to lead up to John Cena's farewell. I'm guessing that's probably where this is going to go this next season. But um yeah, great, great show. This is on Netflix, five episodes.
00:27:50
Speaker
Definitely worth your watch if you loved wrestling. So...

Classic Movies and Reviews

00:27:53
Speaker
um While we were away, watched The Godfather. I wanted to mention some movies in the Godfather universe, or Godfather adjacent actors that starred in them, I guess you could say.
00:28:03
Speaker
um ah movie you told me about probably 25 years ago to watch. I never did. Dog Day Afternoon, 1975. nineteen seventy five um Al Pacino, um the guy who plays Sonny in The Godfather, stars in it, um and he robs a bank.
00:28:22
Speaker
Great movie. um so James Caan? Yeah, James... No, James Caan isn't in Dog Day Afternoon.
00:28:33
Speaker
No, I'm sorry. I'm thinking of... I know what you're talking about, though. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, they rob a bank. yeah it's It's a good movie. Guys and Dolls, not a movie I think you'd ever want to watch.
00:28:45
Speaker
ah you don't In fact, don't watch it. Whenever I think of Guys and Dolls, there's obviously that famous Seinfeld episode where everyone thinks Jerry's gay. Um, yeah, you know, not there's anything wrong with that.
00:28:57
Speaker
And George buys him tickets to go see guys and dolls. And Jerry's like, well, you know, with, with everything going on and George is like, it's guys and dolls, not guys and guys.
00:29:10
Speaker
That's all I think about when I hear about guys and dolls. 1950s, New York City. Pretty much every movie after this depicted New York City in a weird way like this yeah um and in cinema.
00:29:22
Speaker
Misery. First time I ever saw that. James Caan. Kathy Bates, of course, won a lot of awards based off of Stephen King novel. um Great movie. Fantastic movie.
00:29:33
Speaker
An Apocalypse Now. Great movie. Saw this years ago. Wanted to mention it now because it's just... I just watched it, I want to say in June. You did? I just watched it. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's a great movie.
00:29:46
Speaker
Francis Ford Coppola, the cow scene always, I hate that scene. Which cut of the movie did you watch? Because there's like fucking six of them. The normal cut, the the regular. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah, but they just the cast in that alone. Marlon Brando playing this.
00:30:00
Speaker
Crackhead. Robert Duvall. um Robert Duvall is the reason why I watched it because the Napon in the Morning line is... yeah I was trying to watch a movie starring every main character from The Godfather, pretty much. That actually came out on this day 1979. Oh, no shit. No shit.
00:30:17
Speaker
Or either today or yesterday. i's saw it on Twitter because there was a thread about... it's anniversary um and all the things that went on during production. crazy through George Lucas was supposed to direct it.
00:30:29
Speaker
He's going to do a basically documentary and this, that, and the other. And yeah, there was a whole bunch of stuff that went on behind the scenes. So it's funny as watched it this week. There's a whole documentary, I believe, directed by Francis Ford Coppola's wife. I can't remember what it's called.
00:30:42
Speaker
Yeah, on the fourth page. Yeah, it talks all about that. Yeah, it so it's on the it's on all the box sets of that. but Yeah, I just wanted to mention that briefly because Godfather, one of those movies you can put on, I've seen it probably twice this year so far, is one of those movies you can put on and notice something every single time. Just ah just the way he directed that movie, everything's depicted in the nineteen forty s nineteen fifty s I'm higher on Godfather 1 than Godfather 2.
00:31:09
Speaker
I like the ending of Godfather 2, but I'm not a big fan of the Robert De Niro stuff in Godfather 2. And Godfather 3, you we talk about. But, yeah. um You know, Godfather 3 gets a bad rap, but it was still nominated for Best Picture.
00:31:22
Speaker
It didn't live up to the first two. Like, was still nominated for Best Picture. Yeah. And in canon, like in movie canon, Michael Corleone is still alive. If they wanted to make a Godfather 4, Francis Ford Coppola could do it. It'd be like the death of Michael Corleone. Although I think there is a cut of Godfather 3 when Michael dies.
00:31:41
Speaker
I believe they released it a couple years ago, so I don't know. um Two movies I want to talk about on Amazon Prime. First one is called The Pickup. We talked about it before we got off. um How it looks like everything from Eddie Murphy back in the early 2000s, late 90s, Metro, all those movies.
00:32:00
Speaker
It's basically that. It's basically what we thought it was going to be. um Him, Pete Davidson, Kiki Palmer, Eva Longoria. Big, huge heist movie. They're working as security guards trying to take money from one place to another.
00:32:13
Speaker
And of course, Kiki Palmer's farmer's character hijacks the truck. That's basically what the story is. um And Pete Davidson hooks up with her and she steals all the information of the route where the truck's going, so on and so forth. You know all the stories of that.
00:32:27
Speaker
That's on Amazon Prime. Decent movie. Not great. Probably a three out of five for me. Now this movie, I was hesitant to watch.
00:32:39
Speaker
Very hesitant because I know it's bad. I knew it was going to be bad. The tagline in the trailer itself is it's worse than you think. Actual line, actual line in the trailer. Written in in in in words on on the trailer.
00:32:54
Speaker
Starring Ice Cube. War of the Worlds. On Amazon. Have you had a chance to watch this hate watch this like did? I'm spending my time watching that movie. Well, I hate watched it because everybody's talking about it. It's as bad as you its as bad as you think it is.
00:33:10
Speaker
um The acting, horrible. The effects, horrible. said um if it would be like It would be like watching a movie on our screen right now. would be like watching me play with my all my icons while I'm doing the podcast. That would be the movie, and that's what this movie was.
00:33:27
Speaker
um The acting of Ice Cube, actually, they found his weaknesses in this movie. Um, definitely not the type of movie he should be doing. He should be sticking with comedies because the drama is definitely his weakness.
00:33:39
Speaker
Um, not good. Definitely a grimace. Um, and, but it's one of those grimaces where I'm glad I watched it. Like, it's like I mentioned, it's a hate watch. It was one of those movies where it's, it's comical how bad it is.
00:33:55
Speaker
um But yeah, this is on Amazon Prime if you're up to it. um And it's it's definitely... It goes by quickly. especially it's like one of It's definitely one of those movies where you're going watch like, oh yeah, this this is going to be horrible going in.
00:34:08
Speaker
You're going to enjoy it just how bad it is, pretty much. but um But the three movies I want to talk about start off with The Naked Gun. I went to the theaters yesterday, saw three movies in a row. Haven't done that, i don't think ever. I think the most I ever saw was two. um But I saw three.
00:34:24
Speaker
Luckily, two of them were under an hour and a half. But the first one I saw was The Naked Gun. ah Bringing back Liam Neeson to play the Leslie Nielsen character, which I thought, but considering Leslie Nielsen was a dramatic actor, went into comedy to do all the spoof movies back in the 70s and eighty s and did Police Squad on television.
00:34:45
Speaker
I knew what they were going get into. I knew what they were doing. Bringing in Pamela Anderson, huge, huge star of the 90s. um The understatement of the year, how huge she was in the 90s.
00:34:58
Speaker
um But number one, the marketing of this movie, all of those posters are fantastic. um took spoofs, brought them back to the to the forefront.
00:35:09
Speaker
Hasn't been a great spoof movie in a while. um This is pretty good. Not the best comedy I've seen in a while, but it's just great that they took some punches with it. um I will say the trailers gave a lot of the funny stuff away. I would have loved to see the the a the OJ joke in the movie rather than in the trailer.
00:35:28
Speaker
I think it would have played off better as a surprise, but um Overall, 3.5 out of 5. um And they interesting to see if this goes anywhere. Liam Neeson in his 70s now, saying that he's probably done with action movies, but they could easily bring in somebody to play an action character. Leslie Nielsen did this probably in his 60s.
00:35:51
Speaker
um Yeah, decent movie though. Three and a half out of five. um I also yesterday saw Nobody 2 debut this week in theaters. ah Bob Odenkirk coming back to play the guy, the character.
00:36:03
Speaker
can't remember his name in the movie, but going on vacation, trying to bring his family back together um because he's been working because at the end of the first Nobody, he blows up like $40 million dollars worth of money.
00:36:18
Speaker
In this movie, he has to pay off that debt. And that's what the whole movie's about. um He's working himself so much he's ripping his family apart because he's not there anymore. And that's what the whole movie sets up.
00:36:29
Speaker
The worst part of this movie, which I think she's an overrated actress, is Sharon Stone. Horrible. She shows her cooch in one movie, and she's an actress. She was bad in Catwoman. she's bad and She's just as bad in this.
00:36:43
Speaker
Maybe not as bad as Catwoman, but... um Yeah, it's okay. Probably another three and a half out of five for me. um It was not as good as the first one, I will say that. That's too bad.
00:36:56
Speaker
but yeah first one is just great for what it was at the time but but a movie i'm very high on movie came out a couple weeks ago you saw it last week um Weapons And we have a lot to talk about with this movie October we'll be watching Barbarian cause possessions yeah horror I almost watched it this week But and i remember we're going to wait until October to talk about it And you mentioned to me Offpod Watched Barbarian first But I'm worried what it's going to do to your Look at this movie I'm very high on Barbarian For me, Trigger is 2 out of 2 Because I absolutely love this movie It's fine um it's funny you bring up Slow Burn
00:37:35
Speaker
What's that? Yeah. It's funny you bring up Craig. We're going get into him in a minute. But yeah, yeah i could see I could see where that... Because I don't know anything about Barbarian. I don't want to know anything going in. You don't want to know goddamn thing about Barbarian. Yeah. Just go in for a... In fact... Which is the best thing.
00:37:50
Speaker
You're the only person I know that's actually ever mentioned that movie. like And I listen to a lot of podcasts, lot of shows. yeah Even online, I never saw it mention much. Yeah. The Discord I'm a part of, everyone in that is a huge fan of that movie because it is it's very much like this where it's very different from a lot of movies you've seen, but it's also very similar. um You can see a lot of ah early Paul Thomas Anderson influence in weapons.
00:38:16
Speaker
yeah um The shots and everything and the way the story unfolds. I love the whole like... Yeah. Do this person's story and then you find out more in the next one. And then it gives you a cliffhanger and then it goes to the next person's story.
00:38:31
Speaker
um I love the storytelling in this movie Very much influenced. There's two influences on this movie. Pulp Fiction, Tarantino. You can get that right away.
00:38:42
Speaker
The other one is It. Holy shit. Talk about that in a minute. This cast originally was different. It was supposed to come out right after COVID and it got delayed.
00:38:54
Speaker
So everybody that was signed on, the big the big one that's been all over the news this week, that Josh Brolin was originally, that character was going to be played by Pedro Pascal. He had to drop out because this movie kept getting delayed and delayed.
00:39:07
Speaker
um julia garner Julia Gardner, who played Silver Surfer in the fintatan new Fantastic Four, she joined in. There was another actress playing her role. ah There's another actor playing um a Alden Reich. I love his story. yeah His little part of this was probably my favorite part besides the Junkies.
00:39:25
Speaker
Right, and the junkie was the only the Junkie was the only original character written for this movie who stayed on from the first casting to the last casting. He's also in Euphoria. um And John, i can't remember his name, but he was he was in he was in Eternals. i can't remember his name.
00:39:43
Speaker
um But he was also supposed to be the teacher. Paperboy, yeah. Yeah, he was so he was supposed to be the teacher that was played by Wong. John, is he going to tie me something like that? Yeah, that's it. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, Paperboy.
00:39:56
Speaker
um But he was supposed to play the character played by Wong. Oh, he would have been awesome. Yeah, and that was, I think my favorite character was Wong. I wish I remembered his name. I never remember it off the of my head.
00:40:07
Speaker
um ah Yeah, but he was great in this too. He's probably my favorite part besides the villains. who reminds me a lot of Pennywise. And... God, I don't even want to say that because it's huge spoiler, but even want to get into that. Just forget what I just said.
00:40:23
Speaker
Because nobody... We'll talk about more off-pod, but yeah. Yeah, and nobody... Nobody going into this movie knew what the villain of this movie was and what the whole story was. And when you find out, it's very reminiscent of the first time you see Pennywise or Pennywise fucking with people in the It movie.
00:40:40
Speaker
Especially the new ones. The the ones with Skarsgรฅrd. um but Oh, man. Miss March. The guy who directed this directed Miss March's starred in Miss March. You ever see that movie? um Great comedy. Underrated comedy. Had no idea until probably today.
00:41:00
Speaker
The other thing, and maybe you know more about it, I didn't put it in the notes, didn't read into it, but I know his friend, the guy who he starred when in miss Miss March died. Wasn't it his friend that died and then he wrote this story, kind of like his different emotions of of feeling how his how that friend's death hit him.
00:41:17
Speaker
I wish I put it in the notes or read that article. I remember somebody had talked about it. I think it may have been Josh Brolin. um talked about how that friend's death had an impact on how the script turned out. We'll have get back to that later on. but um The movie starts off with the George Harrison song.
00:41:34
Speaker
It was a great start. mentioned the it. Skip for 30 seconds, people. not The spoiler I've got to talk about. The villain of this movie, Aunt...
00:41:47
Speaker
Gladys is played by the girlfriend of Uncle Buck in Uncle Buck. Yep. Who I haven't seen in 30 years. That's all I needed to say for 30 seconds.
00:41:58
Speaker
ah Come back sometime soon. Weapons, four and a half out of five. i think I gave Sinners a five out of five. It may on the be on the same line as Sinners.
00:42:11
Speaker
um That's how good this movie was. um Yeah, I'm sticking with a 4.5 out of 5, though. I think I like Sinners just a little bit more just because it's kind of my type my cup of tea. but Yeah, this is me this is a 4 out of 5 for me.
00:42:25
Speaker
I'm looking forward to watching Barbarian now ah for like the 20th time after seeing this to compare them. forward just because the hype. love Barbarian. Yeah. Barbarian's like two different movies in one, which I love, which we'll talk about in a few months. um The only thing I know...
00:42:40
Speaker
The only two things to know about that movie are the casting. It's Skarsgรฅrd and Justin Long. That's all I know. um Oh my god, Justin Long is so awesome in that movie. who shows up ah Who shows up in a quick cameo in Weapons.
00:42:53
Speaker
Oh man, Weapons, there's going to be a lot to talk about with this movie, like once viewing multiple viewings of it. um yeah Seeing the connections to everything. You think about it more and more the further you get away from it, which is always a good sign.
00:43:06
Speaker
Yeah, because everything comes together at the end in in a secret way. but um So let's get into, well, we were gone. Comic-Con happened. get over Go over a few things that happened on Comic-Con. Not not a lot.
00:43:21
Speaker
um There were some reveals. We have some new Wolverine. God, I hate that my notes don't load that quick anymore on here. um There are some Wolverine toys that were that debuted there um while we were away. Some X-Men 97.
00:43:35
Speaker
um Some World War II Logan toys. A Mask of Logan. um Of course, they're not loading because I need to get to this one. No, they're up.
00:43:48
Speaker
Do you see it? ah Do you see that one? Yep. Mephisto. There's a great McFarlane Mephisto figure that debuted. See, I can't go through them quick, so I'm not even sure where my note where my where my pictures are right now. You've got the Human Torch, one of the comic books. and One of the current comic books looked really, really cool.
00:44:09
Speaker
um I thought these were cool. This is the Christmas Vacation figures. Is that the next one? um Yeah, all the all the mini figures. are the The light-up Santa Claus Clark Griswold looks really, really cool.
00:44:24
Speaker
It does light up. um This one you brought to my attention, the DeLorean Popcorn Bucket. um that's coming out for the was the 30th no 40th anniversary of the movie uh this this ah october um but yeah it looked really really cool i haven't seen that anywhere besides what you sent me um frank miller is doing a dark knight returns versus old man logan um the art of that was leaked that came out comic-con um um the south park creators revealed that uh none of the footage from the teaser trailer that was shown um earlier this year for south park this current season none of that stuff was real um the studio told them to put some stuff together like a highlight reel which they've never done before but all that stuff was like the war with canada all that stuff's not real i was hoping that they were gonna do another like sequel to which they kind of are doing with south park
00:45:17
Speaker
in a way, with the Trump stuff, but in a way, kind of, not really. um
00:45:25
Speaker
The big thing that came out of this was Killer of Killers. I think this i think this news came out while we were on the pod ah couple weeks a few weeks ago. But Killer of Killers the did this huge, huge predator thing and revealed that they're going to be releasing later on that night a cut of Killer and killer of Killers with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover's character appearing at the ending.
00:45:51
Speaker
Um, a director's cut because they get the, they get the rights of Arnold. Um, they get the rights of his likeness to be added to the film. I guess he had been hesitant of doing it. And then he talked him into it. Trachtenberg went in and actually talked to him.
00:46:05
Speaker
and talked him into putting the lightness in the movie. um But yeah, um I haven't seen it, but i do have the screenshots there of Arnold and and Danny Glover's character. When we watched this, we talked about how ah this opens up the world a lot, where anybody who's fought a predator could come into this universe and and show off against this whole group of this, I guess going into badlands, what's going to happen of everything going on there. But um Got a new trailer for the boys' spinoff Gen V. um Got a brand new trailer for It, Welcome to Derry.
00:46:41
Speaker
um I wish my notes were loading because can't even see where I'm at. um What's on there now? Is it the poster for It? Yep. the The photos on there too, the all the screenshots of the trailer. i Damn, I wish I could see what's going on.
00:46:58
Speaker
um But yeah, it looked really, really good. I cannot wait for this. comes out in October. ah They haven't announced the actual date, I don't believe, but those they did say it comes out in October. um Continuation, or I believe it's going to be like a prequel, not only to the movie, but it's going to show where Pennywise comes from, from what I heard, and and how that, well, you know from the story that it comes from a circus or something that comes into town.
00:47:25
Speaker
They're going to actually have a prequel of the guy who was in the circus and how Pennywise takes over and all that. It'll be interesting. interesting um The other thing was Coyote vs. Acme was given an actual date for October 28th 2026, year from now.
00:47:40
Speaker
year from now Um, tagline of that movie, Coyote, uh, uh, staring at blue, well, they showed a little clip of it. Coyote staring at blueprints, remembering all the time he's been hurt. Um, and Johnny Cash is hurts playing in the background. Will Forte's lawyer commercial playing on TV and the coyote calls it up, hires him.
00:47:58
Speaker
And, uh, yeah, he's hiring a lawyer to sue Acme. Um, for everything, everything that he says is great. you Got a new poster for that too. I don't know what's loading on there right now, but. Um, got new poster for that, some new pictures from the trailer.
00:48:14
Speaker
Hey.
00:48:17
Speaker
Uh, hold on, this is really messing with me today because I can't see where I'm at. Okay, there's some pictures from the trailer. Um, Kevin Smith is writing a Jay and Silent Bob fucks the Marvel Universe comic book for Marvel.
00:48:30
Speaker
Um, he had a panel sometime at San Diego Comic Con. And, uh,
00:48:38
Speaker
I just gonna make sure because my dog's going nuts over there for some reason. um The other big panel, probably the biggest panel while we were gone, was the Peacemaker panel.
00:48:49
Speaker
um John Cena came out in Peacemaker outfit, talked about season two coming out this week. We'll talk about it next week. um Set one month after Superman. ah Guy Garner and Hawkeye appear in the first episode.
00:49:02
Speaker
A Hawkgirl, sorry. um James Gunn teasing more DC Universe characters appearing in Peacemaker 2 than have been announced. Quote, maybe there's a couple other people here wandering around these halls who are in Superman. They're also in Peacemaker Season 2.
00:49:15
Speaker
Interesting. um James Gunn confirms two characters in the history of MetaHumans and the mural are important to scripts being worked on right now. um No real speculation on who that could be. but um James Gunn says pe Peacemaker Season 2 has his favorite soundtrack he's ever done.
00:49:32
Speaker
And there's an Ozzy Osbourne Needle Drop included in this Season 2. Nice. That's pretty much it for Comic-Con. Thursday, 9pm. Yep, we're going watching that talk about it next week. So yeah, let's get into the news.
00:49:52
Speaker
And it's not new segment of the trailer, Roundup.
00:49:56
Speaker
First trailer for an Eternity, a movie didn't hear about until a couple weeks ago, starring Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller. ah romantic Romantic comedy follows reality when when somebody dies.
00:50:07
Speaker
ah What happens when you had a boyfriend in your early life, he dies tragically. You end up meeting somebody else. You live your whole entire life with him. Who you going to be internally... with the rest of time once you're in heaven um kind of sets up who she has to choose her her old boyfriend who died in a car accident years and years ago or miles teller who she's been with till her death so um it looks interesting a 24 movie i'll have to keep an eye on that um The Conjuring, I believe it comes out in two weeks.
00:50:42
Speaker
Full trailer for that came out. ah Trailer came out kind of late, a month before the movie. Saw it the theater, I believe, one of the movies I watched yesterday. Saw it, looked good.
00:50:53
Speaker
i' Got a brand new poster for that as well. uh, finale of this whole entire story from what they say. we'll have to wait and see on that. Um, speaking of that, Matt Reif, comedian Matt Reif, talked about it on the show before, has bought, uh, Lorraine Warren's home, which houses the Annabelle doll.
00:51:10
Speaker
um has all the artifacts all of that stuff owns the house and everything did want to mention that ah brand new behind the scenes video and I've got new brand new posters for Wicked 4 Good ah comes out November 24th we got new character posters for Glinda and Elphaba I cannot wait for that going to be seeing that opening day um Got a brand new poster, brand new trailer for the paper.
00:51:36
Speaker
The Office spinoff coming out on Peacock on on September 4th. Very excited for it. Does not look as good as The Office, but I said that about the first season of The Office too. I wasn't a big, huge fan until I actually got into it. but um Starring Donald Gleeson.
00:51:52
Speaker
Bringing it back Oscar from the original Office run as an accountant for this newspaper this newspaper company that's going under. um Bringing in the documentary crew back in there. It's a great joke where Oscar sees the documentary crew is like, not again.
00:52:07
Speaker
I'm going to say stuff so you can't ever use it. He just starts swearing off a whole bunch of words. They have to bleep him off. Going to be on Peacock. Brand new series. so can I cannot wait for that. A couple days before my birthday. A couple weeks.
00:52:19
Speaker
I think it's season 5. saw sorry. think season 5. i don't even know what season they're on but it comes out in september ninth very high on that show steve martin martin short i think it's there ah saw a for sir think of' season fire Yeah, it looks good.
00:52:36
Speaker
um Yeah, I cannot wait to talk about that. But the trailer for our documentary came out this week, which I think is going to be very highly talked about on this show, is sure Charlie Sheen.
00:52:48
Speaker
It has this two-part documentary come out on Netflix on September 10th called AKA Charlie Sheen. Yeah. He brings in everybody that he's fucked over to do interviews for him.
00:53:01
Speaker
Heidi Fleiss, Chuck Lorre, he had a falling out with because of Two and a Half Men. His drug dealer is a part of the interviews for this. um It's going to be an interesting documentary to see where Charlie is. Supposedly he's clean and sober now.
00:53:16
Speaker
We'll have to wait and see on how accurate that is but Uh, yeah. I cannot wait for that. comes out on September 10th. Um, let's get into the news.

Speaker
While we were away, we had three weekend three weekends at Box Office.
00:53:29
Speaker
Uh, first weekend was the debut of Fantastic Four. Earned $57 million dollars in its opening day. opening Biggest opening day of the year. Earned $106 million globally for its first first opening, uh, for its opening day total.
00:53:43
Speaker
Ended up opening to, uh, $118 million dollars at the domestic box office that weekend, $218 million worldwide. Pretty good numbers. Not as good as MCU of old, but good numbers.
00:53:57
Speaker
um Marvel Studios made $170 million in media value from the Global Brand Partnership and Promotions. All the Little Caesars, Zillow, Pop-Tarts, General Mills, Citizen Watches, all of that stuff. $170 million, dollars not too shabby.
00:54:12
Speaker
um And came in second that week, $24 million Superman. Jurassic World Rebirth, $13 million. um The next weekend, Naked Gun came out.
00:54:26
Speaker
Made $29 million, dollars i believe, worldwide. $13 million. dollars Hold on. I don't have that. Yeah, $13 million. dollars i don't want to get into too much of this. Let me...
00:54:39
Speaker
super Superman passed $500 five hundred million dollars worldwide. ah Weapons came out last week, did $42 million. freaker Freaker Friday came out $29 million, number two. Fantastic Four did another $15.5 million. um Weapons had $70 million worldwide. Budget was $38 million.
00:54:58
Speaker
ah One of the globals ah biggest global but openings for an original film in the past decade. Fantastic Four hit $430 million this week. And Superman grossed $578 million globally this week as well.
00:55:13
Speaker
Passed Man of Steel, now the highest grossing solo Superman movie. and i believe it's the highest grossing Superman movie, um including um the other the the the team up, Batman v Superman 2.
00:55:25
Speaker
We'll top that this week. I think domestically it's the most. Those obviously made more. BVS made like $877. But I think both of those made less than like $300 domestically, Man of Steel and BVS.
00:55:36
Speaker
Yep, yep. I've got some behind-the-scenes looks of Ralph Ennison as Galactus. I hope they're loading. um Great, great character in that movie. um I'm not sure when this is coming out digitally, but I'm guessing probably sooner rather than later. Matt Shackman talked about there will be no director's cut of Fantastic Four. um There's so much VFX involved, it's probably not possible.
00:56:00
Speaker
um The other thing that debuted in this... was ah something we didn't mention cause i don't think we caught it or I didn't catch it, but they did have people playing Jack Kirby and Stan Lee standing in a window at Timely Comics, which is on the left there.
00:56:18
Speaker
um But the also the character of Natasha Lyonne's character, who was we're hoping playing Alicia Masters or somebody, um her name was Roz, or her name was...
00:56:30
Speaker
ah Rachel Rosman was name on likely named after Rosalind Roz Kirby, the wife of Jack Kirby. This movie, like we mentioned before, was a love letter Jack Kirby. um And Ben Grimm long rumored to be Jack Kirby's self-insert of the character and his self-portrait of his own art.
00:56:47
Speaker
um So it was kind of a whole homage to him. But... um Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore 2 debuted at 46 million views the first weekend. Biggest Netflix US opening ever.
00:57:00
Speaker
um So yeah, big, big stuff happened while we were away. a lot of people watched stuff on on streaming in the theaters. um So yeah. um Rest in peace to Lonnie Anderson. don't if you ever watched WKRP in Cincinnati back in the day. No, I know who she is though.
00:57:15
Speaker
Yeah, she was huge back in the day. 79 years old, I believe she died of breast cancer. think I think growing up when Pamela Anderson first got famous, I assumed this was her mother. Kind of looks like her. You're right, yeah. That's what I'm saying.
00:57:27
Speaker
I didn't know anything about her. Obviously, Google wasn't around back then either. so Great theme song, WKRP in Cincinnati. Great show. We used to watch reruns back when back in the 80s probably. That was before our time, so you would have cut the reruns.
00:57:41
Speaker
Or the end of it. I can't remember how long the show lasted, but yeah, I remember the i remember the theme song for sure. um Also, rest in peace to Jim Lovell, Astronaut. The only reason I'm bringing him up is because Tom Hanks played him in Apollo 13, which was huge in the 90s. 97 years old. He had have been the last one, right?
00:58:02
Speaker
Like, no question Apollo 13's alive. Yeah, I don't know. I am not sure of that. I haven't seen that movie in a very long time. mean, he was 93 or some shit like that. Yeah, 97. Yeah, I haven't seen the movie in a while.
00:58:13
Speaker
ah Tom Hanks did a great job. Talked about, um if nobody's seen it, number one, you're under a rock. Number two, um it's a story of astronauts getting stuck in space during the 13th Apollo mission. They already did an Apollo 11, the one that landed on the moon.
00:58:28
Speaker
13 was a couple after that. 13, they got up there and they had a malfunction. Houston, we have a problem. Came from this movie. Came from this actual ah dialogue from when they were in the space. Gary Spinelli is so fucking good in that movie. Everyone in that movie is good.
00:58:43
Speaker
That's the movie when I think of Ron Howard outside of his acting. like I think of that movie like that's where my brain goes instantly. Yeah, yeah. mean It's one of those movies you probably should go into eventually and watch and kind of review revisit.
00:58:56
Speaker
I haven't watched it a while. but um I haven't watched this VHS, and I have iTunes. Yeah. i tune Big news, getting to the news, big news while we were away was WWE, first off, WWE is going to yeah ESPN, paying an average of $325 million per year on a five-year deal for all of WWE's PLEs beginning in 2026, I think believe in March.
00:59:22
Speaker
um pe Peacock had been paying $180 million dollars per year for a five-year deal. um They broke that deal, so they're goingnna be off of Peacock in March. They're going to starting on ESPN. There's a problem with that.
00:59:35
Speaker
yeah ESPN's new unlimited plan for this direct-to-consumer app is going to be $29.99 a month. It gives fans access to all of yeah ESPN's and networks, ESPN, ESPN2, so and so forth.
00:59:50
Speaker
It also gives them ESPN+, everything, and a whole bunch of live events. If you're a fan of sports, I know you are. This may make sense, except Nessun has all those deals. I'm not paying that. Right, and Nessun has all those deals up here.
01:00:05
Speaker
If it was baseball, it would be different, but it only has a few select sports. It doesn't guarantee you being able to watch like every football game. like you know um because those will be on we just dropped cable for the first time so i moved into this place and it's like yeah because every app has football on now so it's like you pay for the csp and it's not like you can watch a ball game so the only The only thing that may be different if you still have cable or if you have YouTube TV or or Hulu Live Plus TV or whatever, um supposedly cable subscribers are going to be having this it's part of
01:00:38
Speaker
If you have yeah ESPN, you're able to sign into the app and use it. Oh, nice. If you're going to do that, you might as well have YouTube TV. What is it, $79? I don't even know what is anymore, maybe $85.
01:00:52
Speaker
um You might as well have just just have TV and and get the ESPN and just to use a sign on log logins for that um if that's the case, but who knows. um So the total cost of owning everything, to watch everything, number one, you got Netflix. The the the cheapest one is $7.99 a month, which being year.
01:01:13
Speaker
so that's just for ro For SmackDown, you have to have either USA Network or Peacock. if you have new USA Network, you have to have cable. But you have Peacock, you're paying $131 a year, $10.99 minimum month. That's with ads. So can watch SmackDown on Peacock?
01:01:26
Speaker
two ten ninety nine minimum a month that's with so you can you go watch s macckdown on peacock Yep, it's live on. I had no idea until this until this article came up too. Okay, um okay.
01:01:38
Speaker
yeah ESPN, this new app, $29.99 month or the whole entire year. um ah
01:01:52
Speaker
if you have new youtube tv you're paying almost a thousand for the whole entire year yeah that's so yeah that's a lot it's a lot to pay for something for for live events, but that's what we were paying back in the day. But we were only buying one every... We weren't buying pay-per-views every month.
01:02:06
Speaker
Right. We were watching the big four, usually, and that's about it. But um they're estimating They're kind had a 50-dus use the black box. Right. But they're estimating that if you want to watch everything throughout the whole entire year, you have to pay almost $1,200 for every single Raw, SmackDown, and pay-per-view going forward.
01:02:27
Speaker
That's a lot of money for the consumer. They should do what the NFL does with the Super Bowl for WrestleMania. At least make that one free. Yeah, well, they they didn't say that some of the live events will be shown simulcast on yeah ESPN.
01:02:41
Speaker
I'm guessing it won't be WrestleMania. Well, maybe the first one will be, but it'll probably more like the ones like Elimination Chamber or the ones that are not the big four or big five. um But yeah, we'll we'll know more about this. The pricing hasn't fully been out.
01:02:56
Speaker
I hear there's a bundle with Hulu and Disney. um The pricing hasn't been totally out yet, but we'll have to wait and see. um And ESPN also acquired NFL Network, bought them, um and they're going to be airing NFL Network on their ESPN app too. So that if you're if you're into football, um it's kind of a big deal, I guess. But yeah, of SmackDown in the U.S. will continue to air until 2029 on USA and Peacock.
01:03:22
Speaker
um And the other thing that came out of this is Hulu is going to be fully integrated into Disney Plus in 2026, and the standalone Hulu app will be shut down. um They've already kind of started doing that. if you're If you have Disney Plus and Hulu, you can actually watch all the Hulu stuff on there. That's why I watch The Bear. That's why I watch Alien Earth. It's on the Disney Plus app. so um And Peacock.
01:03:43
Speaker
They lost the WWE Network, but they're rising their prices by 30%. The Peacock Premium was a month, ah going up to a month. The annual for that was going up to
01:04:00
Speaker
Peacock has some great stuff. It has the TED series. ah The Office is on there. There's a lot of NBC Universal stuff that's exclusive to them now. Psych. Psych is on there now. It's exclusive to them as well. I forgot.
01:04:12
Speaker
um So, yeah. um Streaming is getting expensive. It's getting as expensive with cable. The problem is They're wanting us to pay cable prices tenfold because of every single streaming app is getting to be over $20 just to watch it without commercials.
01:04:28
Speaker
um I haven't had commercial-less Netflix in two or three years now. I have the $7.99 version of that. yeah I'm watching ads. I know the only thing I can't watch on there are movies, newer movies. but The Netflix with ads is fine if you have a computer with blockers.
01:04:47
Speaker
Yeah. there were i haven't watched I have everything it has ads, but I don't watch ads because I watch of stuff on my computer. I watch everything on at my Apple TV. so um The other breaking news that happened this week is UFC, which is a better deal, agreed to a seven-year... is fucking great.
01:05:05
Speaker
Seven-year... Well, this is great for you, number one, because of what you were paying for a pay-per-view. I have a lot of people since 2018-19 probably. Right. Seven years, 7.7. Well, that's probably why this deal was made.
01:05:18
Speaker
A seven years, $7.7 billion dollar exclusive U.S. media rights with Paramount+. plus um All UFC events will stream on Paramount+. plus Select events airing also on CBS, their partner. um And they won't be charging viewers any additional fees, eliminating the pay-per-view model going forward. This is starting in 2026.
01:05:39
Speaker
um And because of that, at the time, I believe this is different now. I think the price has risen. The deal, which is worth $7.7 billion, dollars was worth more than the market share of the whole entire Paramount, which was at $6.6 billion dollars earlier in the week I think it's up to eight something now, but holy shit. And one reason I think Dana White finally broke down and accepted this type of deal is he's been on a war with people illegally streaming UFC events for a solid five years.
01:06:12
Speaker
And I think he's really come to the realization now that you can't stop it. Like there is nothing you can do. Like you might be able to get one person, but for every one person you take down, five more are going to pop up to stream your shit. So I think he finally just kind of gave in accepted this deal.
01:06:28
Speaker
It's easier for the consumer. I don't know if the shows are going to be earlier. I know they start at 10 o'clock now. Yeah, but that's that's because they're in Vegas. So they're 7 p.m. in Vegas.
01:06:39
Speaker
That's why they're at 10 o'clock out here. yeah um But yeah, Dana White made the announcement. The historic deal with Paramount CBS is incredible for UFC fans and are athletes for the first time ever. Fans in the U.S. will have access to all UFC content without a pay-per-view model, making it more affordable and accessible to view the greatest fights on a massive platform. So yeah, this is huge ho news for UFC fans.
01:07:01
Speaker
Are they getting the back catalog? Maybe. Or is it just going be what's on theirs and you can stream it after it or during it airs and afterwards? They have it announced. Because UFC does have their own app with all the back catalog, which I think each pay-per-view goes up a month after it came out.
01:07:15
Speaker
Okay, yeah, they haven't announced that yet. um But they're going to have 13 numbered fights, 30 fight nights. I guess those are the ones that used to be like the ones that weren't on pay-per-view, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Those were the ESPN ones.
01:07:28
Speaker
Yeah. um But the first ones be 324, believe. Yes. Do you think you will get into UFC now? um Since it's on... I'll tell you... who they pay for I'm to tell you one thing. it will If it wasn't this, it was probably going to be the spectacle of whatever this July 4th White House one going next year. Yep.
01:07:49
Speaker
That was going be the one that was probably going to make me watch for the first time a full pay-per-view. um Yeah, because that that's... I mean, that's going to be huge for... wonder if that will be the first one on the app.
01:08:00
Speaker
324 should be the first one they said. j January of 2026. So yeah, other than that, I don't know much about it. So yeah, that's huge huge news in the streaming world between WWE and Paramount.
01:08:15
Speaker
um It kind of sucks. The WWE news sucks. um Makes me want to wonder if it would be cheaper for me just to get, or not cheaper, but worth more to get YouTube TV or one of those, or even cable again. God, I hate saying that, but I never thought that I would... All the tables have turned now. I'll have to like find WWE pay-per-views if I feel like watching them yeah online. It reversed. Yeah, it reversed because uf because a UFC used to be expensive to watch that for... What was it, like $100 for an event if you wanted to actually watch it? think they're 85 or something like that. Yeah, They're expensive.
01:08:52
Speaker
Which is fine if you have five or six friends that want to watch it, but the way things are now, people just want to stay at their own house. Yeah, yeah. You know? Yeah, that's kind of crazy. um Stans, the documentary, Eminem documentary debuted a couple weeks ago. I think it's 100% of Rotten Tomatoes.
01:09:08
Speaker
um They did announce that the documentary is going to be streaming, ah believe, in two weeks on Paramount+. plus and it's going to be on August 26th. It's Eminem talking to fans, talking to about him and and having to live through the fandom of of his life, becoming a hermit, pretty much.
01:09:28
Speaker
um Sounds interesting. I know it came out. The popcorn bucket came out as well, the pill bottle. um So, yeah, Mitchell, Stanley Mitchell, pill bottle. um I going to try to see that in the theaters, but i wasn't playing in theaters this week when I went, but...
01:09:44
Speaker
Uh, yeah. watch We'll watch that on Paramount Plus in a couple weeks. ah World War Z. Speaking of Paramount Plus, World War Z universe is a top priority for Paramount.
01:09:55
Speaker
ah The Skydance-Paramount merger came together this week. And they talked about their priorities. That was one of them. Top Gun 3 was one of them. World War Z, Top Gun 3.
01:10:06
Speaker
And Star Trek was the other one. I believe the other one was tur ah Transformers as well. All priorities for Paramount um and the untitled sequel to J.J. Abrams' saga is currently in the works. They're actually going be continuing that Chris Pine Star ah star Trek. So, interesting.
01:10:26
Speaker
Rest in peace to AOL. Well, AOL dial-up.

Upcoming Movie Releases and Trailers

01:10:30
Speaker
If you were a kid back in the 90s, the annoying internet sound of dialing up was the only way to get on the internet. Very, very slow internet at the time through telephone lines. Well, that is shutting down.
01:10:43
Speaker
um Of course, cable, phones, Wi-Fi tethering has all shut down the need for a dial-up. Even having Starlink, all of that stuff...
01:10:55
Speaker
have I have new internet this week, AT&T Air. I switched while we were gone. um Seems to be working okay. I guess we'll check and see how it works on YouTube. but um But, yeah, everything is easier to get internet than it was back in the day. Yeah, we have Starlink It's the only thing you have.
01:11:12
Speaker
It's the only thing you had back in the day was AOL. There was no other option. You got those little discs in the mail, the CDs you had to put in your computer. You got like a free three-month trial or whatever. You had to be careful you didn't use too much because at the time you didn't have long distance. you had And the only local numbers were like in Kennebunk, which was like an hour away, or Portland, which was an hour away.
01:11:35
Speaker
But, yeah. Also news while we were away is Hamilton. Hamilton. Coming to theaters for the first time on September 5th, the day before my birthday. um This was supposed to happen before COVID. um The reason why it was on Disney Plus is because COVID happened and they delayed everything. as I said, fuck it, let's put on Disney Plus. Everybody's at home.
01:11:58
Speaker
Did huge numbers. I've seen it every year since then, every 4th of July. Plus, the first year it came out, I watched it probably monthly, if not more than that. listened to the soundtrack so many times because I became obsessed with Hamilton, as you know, as everybody who listens to this podcast in the last few years knows.
01:12:16
Speaker
um But the first time able to actually see it on big screen, which also means they're probably going to be releasing it on in a huge, huge box set. um for 4K or um even iTunes. It's not on iTunes, exclusive to Disney Plus at the moment, but that was always a plan to go to theaters and release on discs, on digital. So I'm hopefully hoping that happens. I want to see some special features of making of this and everything. i want i want I want it all in my bloodstream. so Cannot wait.
01:12:48
Speaker
um Jason Bourne found a permanent home at Universal. um I don't remember much about the Bourne movies. I i think i I got knocked off after the third one. i know that um Jeremy Renner came into the franchise at some point. yeah then And then, what's his name? Mark... Matt Damon came back. Matt Damon came back.
01:13:08
Speaker
That's all I really know about it. But... um Yeah, Universal's going taking over the reins of that. I believe they did the first few films of that, too. um But yeah, a brand new poster. I believe the trailer came out, too, but I haven't seen it.
01:13:21
Speaker
of Waltzing with Brando. This is the movie with Billy Zane playing Marlon Brando. He looks just like him. I wish I'd seen the trailer. Also starring John Hader, Napoleon Dynamite.
01:13:33
Speaker
um yep Everybody's saying the trailer looks great. I guess Rob Corddry. I didn't even see that. Rob Corddry's in this too, which we both love. Richard Dreyfuss too. ah Comes out in theaters on September 19th. So when that comes out, we'll have to hear more about it, hopefully.
01:13:48
Speaker
I got a new look at gwen Glenn Powell and Edgar Wright's The Running Man. Saw the trailer last night in one of the movies I watched. The movie looks great. um Have never seen the first Running Man. I know that's also based off of a Stephen King short story yeah novel.
01:14:03
Speaker
I'll probably watch that closer when this movie comes out November seventh but Glenn Powell is the darling of Hollywood right now. He's a fan cast of everything too. um Brand new look at Guillermo del toro Toro's Frankenstein.
01:14:19
Speaker
Starring Oscar Isaac, just Jacob Alardi as the Frankenstein mark monster. Maya Goth. Brand new photos of that. Brand new photos of Dr. Frankenstein.
01:14:30
Speaker
Also brand new photo photos of Frankenstein's monster. um Jacob Alardi. First picture of him. and fall in full form. I'm not sure what's loading on there at the moment, but is that what you're seeing right now? The monster? yep Yep.
01:14:45
Speaker
um Also got a new picture of the Crystal Lake set. currently I believe they're done filming it currently. coming out Is it coming out this year? The one starring Crystal... I can't remember her name from Freaks and Geeks.
01:15:03
Speaker
But yeah. Yeah. looks like reminiscent of 1980s, 1970s aesthetic from a town, small town. yeah. Michael Bay exited a Netflix action film starring Will Smith called Fast and Loose after, of, made creative differences.
01:15:23
Speaker
For Michael Bay, who's done a lot of horrible movies, to jump out of a movie with Will Smith, that must tell you how shitty Will Smith is as a person. Because michael day Michael Bay would do everything except work with Will Smith.
01:15:37
Speaker
That's what I'm trying to get to. I've got a brand new teaser for a five-part Martin Scorsese documentary coming out on an Apple Plus called Mr. Scorsese. Interviews with him, Steven Spielberg, Robert De Niro, everybody that's working with Leonardo DiCaprio, everybody.
01:15:53
Speaker
Coming out on October 17th on Apple TV. Cannot wait for that. 20th anniversary of the 40-year-old version coming out in the theaters next week for a re-release. One of my favorite comedies, top five easily, maybe top three. Yeah, it's good.
01:16:08
Speaker
I love that movie. Announced while we were away, Meet the Parents Four, officially titled Fokker-in-Law. um Joining the cast of Fokker-in-Law, playing, I believe, the daughter of Ben Stiller is Ariana Grande. So that's her follow-up to Wicked is going be Meet the Fokkers Four, a.k.a. Fokker-in-Law.
01:16:26
Speaker
I believe I have a title card for that. um Announced today, of Regina Hall and Anna Farrah is officially returning. for Scary Movie 6. um With the Waynes coming back, with the Wayne brothers coming back to star in it, I am excited for that movie.
01:16:43
Speaker
I liked the first Scary Movie, I liked the second Scary Movie, and then when the Waynes brothers came left the franchise, I did not like the Scary Movie franchise anymore. Although they did bring in Charlie Sheen to do the third and I believe the fourth one, which is okay, but ah yeah.
01:17:00
Speaker
Um...
01:17:03
Speaker
Before we left, Denny Vale knew. was named the the next director of the bo next Bond movie. Well, they announced the next writer, Pinky Blinders creator Stephen Knight, is set to write the movie.
01:17:16
Speaker
Um, Pinky Blinders, great show. If you've never seen this on Netflix, um, and, uh, having him coming in ah to to write this story is very exciting. Um, I'm glad they brought in a British guy to, uh, to kind of take the reins. So we'll see how that turns out.
01:17:32
Speaker
Uh, Mel Gibson split the Passion of the Christ sequel into two movies. Set for 2027. The first one coming out on Good Friday, March 26th, 2027. And the second one coming out 40 days later on May 6th.
01:17:45
Speaker
Shrek 5, been delayed almost six months to 2027. Supposed to come out December 2026. Coming out of June 30th 2027 now. coming out of june thirtieth of twenty twenty seven now um Twister's filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung is in talks to helm the next Ocean's prequel at Universal brother you a wild Warner Brothers.
01:18:07
Speaker
um Twister's a great movie. Still interested to see on that. Also announced while we were away, A Quiet Place 3 sets a July 2027 release date. john's John Crosnessy is going to return to direct that. so I like those movies. I think the last one was pretty good. That was the one with ah but Joseph Quinn. That was pretty good as a prequel.

TV Series Developments and Casting News

01:18:27
Speaker
Um, Eli Roth's hostile television series starring Paul Giamatti is going to be on Peacock. Development on there. Roth is going to write, direct, and executive produce that. Excellent.
01:18:38
Speaker
Um, Hulu is developing a stay-tuned comedy series, high-lined, uh, headlined by, Josh Gad and his, uh, his, uh, uh, uh, Broadway show. What the Um...
01:18:53
Speaker
Wow, it's, it's blanking me. Um...
01:18:58
Speaker
Andrew Randall's... Why is it blanking me? From the creators South Park. Book of Mormon. Wow. um The both of them started Book of Mormon together.
01:19:10
Speaker
um And they're going to doing... if you have If you've never seen Stay Tuned... Underrated 80s movie. 1992 movie. I wasn't sure when it came out. Starring John Ritter and Pam Dauber. Who was in Mork and Mindy. of course John Ritter's been in everything.
01:19:26
Speaker
But Stay Tuned was... um A movie that was set back and the days of television where John Ritter's character gets her gets a television movie that sends him pretty much to hell. There's a whole bunch of weird parodies of television shows set in hell, um weird cameos in this as well. It's a weird, weird, weird movie. I used to love it as a kid.
01:19:52
Speaker
I'm not sure how it's going to turn out now as a modern day, but it's going to be taking over the binge-watching generation of television now. it'll be interesting to see how that parody works.
01:20:03
Speaker
um Jeremy Strong, frontrunner to play Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network Part 2. um I guess, what's his name? Eisenberg dropped out. Yeah, he said no. he said no um He said no. There was another frontrunner too. i can't remember who the other one was.
01:20:20
Speaker
ah Jeremy Allen White and matt Mikey Madsen were the other two frontrunners to star in that movie. Aaron Sorkin currently writing and directing that. so yeah what the way see on that ah Dave Bautista joins the the cast of Highlander.
01:20:33
Speaker
And Roadhouse 2. Interesting. There's a huge spoiler I want to get into in one of the movies from yesterday. I don't want to get into it.
01:20:44
Speaker
No, we'll hold off on it. Because Dave was in it. But yeah, hold off. um Kevin Hart and John Cena will star in a new action movie called The Leading Man for Netflix. The film follows a self-absorbed movie star who discovers that his co-star is a secret agent. and John Cena is getting typecast in a lot of those type of movies. can be careful.
01:21:02
Speaker
um Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, a star in a movie called The cutoff or a in are Cut Off. of New comedy. Jonah Hill is going to direct it. film follows wealthy siblings who are forced to defend them fend for themselves after their parents cut them off.
01:21:17
Speaker
Coming out July of 2026.
01:21:20
Speaker
I wanted to mention this trailer comes out next week. We'll talk about it more, but there's a horror movie called Good Boy, good boy starring a dog who, after his owner dies, ends up seeing all of these ghosts that are are haunting around around the death or something.
01:21:37
Speaker
ah We'll know more about it next week, but um in the tagline of what the director said, do you ever wonder what your dog stares at? ah Why your dog stares at an empty corner and sparks for no reason or refuses to go in the basement?
01:21:49
Speaker
um Good Boy is a story of a dog who sees everything that goes bump in the night. so Yeah, interesting. ah Got a brand new poster in a and a debut of December for Fallout Season 2.
01:22:04
Speaker
Welcome to New Vegas. um I know that's based off a New Vegas game for Fallout, which I know was really popular about a decade ago. I love the first season of Fallout. Cannot wait for that.
01:22:17
Speaker
um Got brand new photos of Vought Rising. The prequel to The Boys um reveals if the superheroes led by Jason Ackles Soldier Boy and a few other characters called Private Angel, Bombsite, and Torpedo.
01:22:35
Speaker
i' Very excited for that. Love Jason Ackles in The Boys. We had his run in there that first, second season. I think it was. can't remember when he was on there. see I cannot wait for that.
01:22:48
Speaker
Brand new documentary I wanted to mention because know you were a big Raven fan back in the

Entertainment Events and Settlements

01:22:53
Speaker
90s. ah Nevermore, The Raven Effect. He's actually going Boston, I believe, next week to debut the Peek Screening of this huge Raven documentary talking about his life in wrestling.
01:23:05
Speaker
He's going to do q and a somewhere in Lexington, Massachusetts. Yeah, that's cool. Hopefully it'll be streaming sooner. um Universal Studios, while we're away, announced their Halloween Horror Nights you Worlds are going be there this year. We've got Friday the 13th, Terrorfire, Fallout, Five Nights at Freddy's, and WWE's teaming up with them to do a wyatt ah Bray Wyatt-themed part of the park.
01:23:33
Speaker
um Halloween Horror Nights, if you've never been, I recommend to go at least once in your life. I should go. Yeah, you definitely should. It's at the end of October. right Well, it's all of October, September, October.
01:23:45
Speaker
ah And it's just a great time. They turn the park on on at night and all the ghouls come out. and They try to scare the hell out of you as you're walking through the park. And they add these haunted houses that are themed like the Friday the 13th, like Terrorfire.
01:23:58
Speaker
If you were going to go, this would definitely be the year for you to go. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Two of your favorite franchises are going to be there, and three if you include WWE. Mario Paint.
01:24:10
Speaker
I remember we talked about the Nintendo switch to had the ability of using a mouse for the controller. Yep. Well, they're going to take that. And because, because of that, Mario paint came on the Nintendo switch in the, uh, uh, Nintendo online library.
01:24:26
Speaker
So you're able to use it that, that way. I believe you're able to hook up a USB, our, uh, Bluetooth mouse to your switch to and do it that way. But, uh,
01:24:38
Speaker
Back in the day, underrated game. Lots of fun on the Super Nintendo. Very underrated, very good game. um I remember ah Nintendo Power had the book where you could create characters and stuff, which was just pretty cool.
01:24:53
Speaker
um So yeah, that's on that's in switch like like the library now ah Fortnite teamed up with Power Rangers. Released a whole bunch of skins for Power Rangers. You've the original five. Plus, you've got the Green Ranger Tommy and the White Ranger Tommy joining. And you also can team up and create the Zords and bring together have a big, huge Zord battle. I don't play Fortnite.
01:25:17
Speaker
It's stuff like this that I wish I did. I know they had a big, huge Marvel. They've had a big, huge Star Wars. They had a huge Superman. Huge Superman thing a couple So, yeah. so yeah Um, Kara, Kara, uh, Gina Carano, who was in Star Wars, had that big, huge fallout with, uh, with Disney, um, settled her lawsuit over the Mandalorian firing.
01:25:40
Speaker
Um, and, uh, we kind of left the door wide open, like maybe she could come back to Star Wars eventually later on. Um, quote, uh, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together in the future is what Disney had said. So, um,
01:25:54
Speaker
um Joining the new Star Wars movie, is Matt Smith, who I love as Doctor Who. Kind of has had some bad acting choices since Doctor Who.
01:26:09
Speaker
um Cough, cough, cough, Terminator. However, i think this role was kind of made for him. i believe he was one of the original choices for the Star Wars, the last Star Wars trilogy, but can't remember who was going to play. I don't think it was Kylo Ren. I don't remember. was supposed to play somebody, so...
01:26:25
Speaker
um So yeah. ah Excited for that new Star Wars Starfighter movie. Of course him and Ryan Gosling ah are in Maya Gotha, the three people that are in that movie. so um
01:26:38
Speaker
Toy Story. Popcorn Bucket. 30th anniversary of Toy Story. Coming back into theaters since September 12th. i got but We got Buzz and ah and and Woody on top of there.
01:26:52
Speaker
Let's get into some new slag. FWAG! Stuff we all get. Come on, son. you know that's right mortal combat and mcfarland figures coming out of all the mortal combat uh toys um i cannot wait for the new movie saw the trailer front the movies again yesterday love love the first one i can't the big thing is i cannot wait to watch that one over again it's been since i've seen it um so i cannot wait to watch that and then watch the new one it comes out in october so i'm very excited for that
01:27:26
Speaker
Got a brand new Spider-Man McFarlane figure. Looks like reminiscent of a comic book corner from the ninety s with the Spider-Man comic. It looked really, really cool. Kind of a cool display figure.
01:27:41
Speaker
i And this leak came out of a new Death Star. the The original Death Star came out like 10 or 15 years ago. yeah the time it was a $500 set, which I have.
01:27:53
Speaker
Never put it together because I don't have room for It's in a box somewhere. But this set is 9,000 pieces with an estimated price of $1,000. Lots of minifigures, lots of vehicles, lots of scenes from a New Hope mostly. And there are some scenes from Return of the Jedi up top, the duel with the Emperor's up top there. But ah mostly scenes from ah from A New Hope. That's basically where the movie takes place in the last act.
01:28:23
Speaker
But... um So, yeah. New hot toys figure for Batman the Killing Joke, the Joker, which looks fantastic. um I believe the picture on the left there looks like directly something right out of the comic book.
01:28:36
Speaker
Couldn't do any better than that. um Some plot figures to talk about. The You're Fired Marty McFly from 2015 figure. ah foreth the rock Promoting the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future.
01:28:50
Speaker
You're Fired on the on the print there. Coming out. um Sleepy Hollow. I believe they have anniversary. twenty fifth anniversary um Johnny Depp stars in that, and Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman.
01:29:06
Speaker
um So yeah, looked really, really, really cool, those pop figures. A whole bunch of new Wicked figures with the debut of the Scarecrow, Dorothy, and Cowboy Lion and Wicked the Tin Man.
01:29:19
Speaker
Don't want to get into spoilers of the musical, but I know who all those characters are. um Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, Slam Dunk Contest from 1987. um Cool pop figure set up diorama for that.
01:29:35
Speaker
ah And Pennywise, what I talked about, Bob Gray, a character who looks just like Pennywise, same forehead and everything, looks like in nineteen twenty s ah outfit of some sort of a clown.
01:29:49
Speaker
Other than that, don't not sure much about it. I just hope we get some sort of a origin of that character more than just knowing he's an alien. and um And also Pennywise eating brains out of a skull.
01:30:02
Speaker
Interesting. And last pot figure of the week is Spider-Man escaping from a symbiote, which looked really, really cool. I believe it went on pre-order this week. So...
01:30:13
Speaker
um Some Marvel news to talk about ah Black Panther 3, young X-Men cast. ah They're going to try to keep the cost down of that.
01:30:23
Speaker
ah Blade and Deadpool 4 are lower on their priorities. um First, let's talk about Black Panther 3. um Lots of excitement internally, I believe...
01:30:35
Speaker
surrounding Denzel Washington being attached, Ryan Coogler being attached, of course. um Everybody wants to see a third movie in that, probably what's going to be a finale of that trilogy.
01:30:46
Speaker
um Casting for X-Men will begin soon. I believe I read today that they're they're in the process of it. um We're looking for a younger talent rather than A-listers to keep the cost down. That was the big news that came out of this Variety article.
01:30:58
Speaker
ah Marvel Studios reportedly has no urgencies regarding Blade, our fourth Deadpool movie. That came out of that article. And Robert Downey Jr. made over $500 million dollars in his MCU run as Iron Man.
01:31:10
Speaker
He's going to be making $80 million dollars in his next the next two Avengers movies. Probably has a back-end deal with that, so it's probably a lot more. um And Marvel Studios is holding a July 23rd, 2027 date right between the two Secret Wars movies um for an untitled film that they haven't released yet. so Speculation could be Black Panther, another Doctor Strange movie.
01:31:34
Speaker
Could be Blade, but I highly doubt It's going something multiversal. It's going to right smack dab in the middle. So we'll have to wait and see. Top agent who represents several several clients in the MCU says the box office will never be the same. I agree.
01:31:47
Speaker
I think COVID ruined a lot of things, um especially comic book movies. I think it's going to take the bigger hit when you look back in the history books of what COVID did to movies. and it just made people like today we'll talk about it little bit we'll mention it like Superman came out today on digital um and the reason for that is because a Peacemaker um We'll get into that in minute, but it's just just that the the way the industry is working right now is shifting.
01:32:17
Speaker
And it's very kid-oriented in the movies.

Animated and Superhero Movie News

01:32:21
Speaker
You see a lot of animated movies making big, huge money in the box office, and the and the smaller movies are making more views off at home on TV than they are in the theater. So...
01:32:32
Speaker
Spider-Punk animated movie in the works. dating dating Daniel Kaluuya is co-writing the film. um Mr. Negative will seemingly make his MCU debut in Brand New Day.
01:32:43
Speaker
um There's military vehicles. They started filming so Spider-Man, the new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day. Military vehicles showing up on on the set. With the logo of Mr. Negative on the side of the tanks.
01:32:58
Speaker
Um... Not sure who's playing Mr. Negative. If you played the first Spider-Man game... You know that whole entire game was based off of Mr. Negative. Um... The other person that was named and is going to be part of this cast, the villain, is Michael Mando, who played Scorpion in the first Homecoming. He is coming back. he's He actually put the tattoo back on. They showed him in makeup in the makeup chair.
01:33:23
Speaker
um And he is coming back to play Scorpion. and So even just having Scorpion as the main villain of this is fine with me. You don't need to go all out with this. and You already got the Hulk. You already got him. you got the Punisher. It's a big, huge movie to be to be doing right now. so
01:33:40
Speaker
I have high hopes. We'll see. And it was also officially confirmed that Mark Ruffalo is returning as the Hulk. um And the Universal Truck was spotted on the set because Universal still owns the rights to the Hulk, which is interesting.
01:33:52
Speaker
But that's the whole cast so far officially of the movie. ah caught Tom Holland, of course, Zendaya, who's been shown in some spy shots, Jacob, can't remember his name, who plays Ned, um Sadie Sink from Stranger Things, also joined the cast, no idea who she's playing,
01:34:07
Speaker
um that ah Batista's wife, who she's in the bear, no idea who she's playing, speculation could be Miles Morales' mother, um and Scorpion, Punisher, it's a huge cast, and having the Hulk in there is weird, but we'll have to wait and see how that all plays out.
01:34:25
Speaker
Um, and while we were away, they debuted the new suit, which was actually the old suit that we saw at the end of, uh, of, um, No Way Home. Um, Tom Holland came into a soundstage, showed it off because they were doing some filming on the street and they did a whole bunch of filming of, uh, Spider-Man shots fighting this tank that I showed earlier.
01:34:46
Speaker
and, Him in flying through the streets, web-slinging. They showed a picture of him and Destin, Daniel cret and Cretton directing him in a scene. And there's a great picture of Spider-Man standing over a film crew looking down with stuff tied to him. It's been all over the internet since we've been gone.
01:35:05
Speaker
I don't know what's loading on there right now, but... That's the next picture I'm talking about. um Also shows Spider-Man walking around with a Del Mar's Deli t-shirt. and Everybody's speculating that he's going to working for a deli when the new movie continues.
01:35:21
Speaker
um Also shows him at a at a grave graveyard with Zendaya filming a scene over May Parker's gravestone. So, yeah, interesting time to be an MCU fan, seeing where the trajectory of this is going into Doomsday, and Secret Wars especially, and seeing if this is going to be reset or what's going to happen.
01:35:41
Speaker
But we'll have to wait and see. um DC News of the Week, DC Marvel News of the Week. Oh, actually, well, yeah, i I meant to put this a little bit further down, but...
01:35:51
Speaker
um A whole bunch of crossover comic book covers for the new DC vs. Marvel, I believe starting in October, are coming out. We've got Punisher vs. Batman.
01:36:02
Speaker
We've got Batman vs. Deadpool. We've got Nightwing and X-23. ah Gambit and and Robin. Deadpool and Batman again. Some great great cover art there. My favorite one was the Joker vs. Doctor Doom one, which I think is going to be...
01:36:21
Speaker
It's going to be on posters and everything. That's how great that one is. but um
01:36:27
Speaker
Marvel Zombies. Now coming out September 24th. It's supposed to come out in October. Rated R, TVMA. um Four episodes. Going to have a lot of swearing, a lot of blood.
01:36:40
Speaker
Ms. Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Shang-Chi, Ironheart, Yelena, Kate Bishop, Blade, Spider-Man. All going to a part of this. Captain Marvel. um And on Instagram this week, Ryan Reynolds released a photo of the Anarchy Avengers symbol with no words, no nothing, speculating that he's going be part of the new Avengers movie, maybe finalize the deal, and just kind of ah hinting to fans like, yeah, I'm back. Who knows? That's what speculation is.
01:37:08
Speaker
um In a couple weeks, 29th the 31st of October, Destination D23 is happening. um They're not doing a full d twenty three this year, but they're going to have this at Disney World.
01:37:21
Speaker
In speculation, they are going to announcing some new movies um at 9 o'clock and in the morning on the 30th, and it will feature exclusive look at new movies and glimpses. Looking forward to films coming out in the next couple of years for Disney. so We may get some news for Marvel. We're not sure, but we'll have to wait and see on that.
01:37:42
Speaker
ah Big news just happened three days ago, came out today, ah Superman came out on digital for $30. I know you bought it. I'm not going to buy it right now because if you're on Twitter, you can pretty much see the whole movie in glimpse ah quick glimpses if you want to. It's all over there. but um So yeah, ah Superman came out in digital, what, 35 days after it came out in the theaters?
01:38:07
Speaker
ah James Gunn, why Superman came out so early? Well, it's it's very complicated, but the truth is it's because of Peacemaker. I originally thought Peacemaker was going come out next month.
01:38:18
Speaker
There's a lot of things that are beyond our cru control, so that Peacemaker is coming out now. um And at the end of the day, I wanted everyone to be able to see Superman that wanted to see it. ah That's why it was released today.
01:38:30
Speaker
It is also to be coming out on Blu-ray on September 23rd, loaded with bonus features. Some of them are in the digital version on iTunes. ah Director's commentary with Gunn, deleted scenes, gag rule, 10 featurettes.
01:38:42
Speaker
um crypto short film. They released the whole entire making of documentary on YouTube, which i don't I'm sure you've watched like I have. um It's great. Very, very good. There's the cover art for all the Blu-rays and 4Ks.
01:38:54
Speaker
um And bonus bonus materials. They also released a crypto short that was exclusive to this as well. But the making of documentary, Icons Forever Superman Enduring Legacy featurette, ah Lex Luthor featurette, Cryptoons, a whole music featurette, Positive Pixel Creating Crypto featurette, Daily Planet featurette, The Ultimate Villain, The Justice Gang, lots of lots of cool making of stuff, so we'll have to wait and see on that. Also got some glipses from this new...
01:39:28
Speaker
documentary that came out on YouTube of Corn Sweat without the trunks. That's what they were going for. looks fucking terrible. It looks awful. Thank God went with the trunks. Yeah, and then they decided to go with the trunks, which is, they were kind of right, like that's the character.
01:39:43
Speaker
It didn't feel like the character until they put on the trunks is what the documentary said, so. um Also got some ah some glimpses of what what's going to be a storyboard. I don't know if it's a future storyboard or what, but it's Supergirl, Superman, and Brainiac.

Superman and Batman Movie Rumors

01:39:58
Speaker
an official for something and crypto official storyboard for something we're not sure for what but um james gunn's gonna write direct the next movie in the super family um it doesn't appear to be a superman sequel but superman's gonna be a part of it um he was on the red carpet for peacemaker who premiered couple days ago and confirmed that um joining the cast of uh of Clayface, Max Miguel, I don't know who that is, but, um, uh, he is in handsome ma's Handmaid's Tale, um, so, yeah, uh, going into production pretty soon, sometime in the next couple of months, so.
01:40:39
Speaker
Batman Part 2 is going to start filming next spring. um And, yeah, lots of stuff happening in D.C. um The big, huge Robin being a part of the Batman 2 was debunked by James Gunn this week through a through a Twitter response or thread spot response.
01:40:57
Speaker
I'm glad he interacts with stuff like that because you hate to see yeah weird news coming out. um i was watching a real quick I was watching a video the other day of a certain youtuber who I've sent you to and he says that He breaks us down saying guys, please stop reading this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script No one knows anything about that man's part two and he goes well if Nobody knows anything about it. Then how do six people read the script? He was like ripping James got about lying in that tweet and I'm just like All right, and then he went on to call David Corn, Sweat, and Not a Star, and it was quite the 20 minute video.
01:41:33
Speaker
i'll Go on. ah Yeah, I got some new character posters for our cast photos for, uh, Entertainment Weekly for Peacemaker.
01:41:44
Speaker
Uh, big huge promotion started this week for Peacemaker Season 2. Um, can't wait. ja James Gunn said, yeah, Thursday night cannot wait. Um, James Gunn said he's actually looking for a way to bring Idris Elba back as Bloodsport in the DCU.
01:41:58
Speaker
He was my favorite part of the Suicide Squad, so it'll be cool to see. Yep. And yeah, that was i mean that's basically it for news. We already talked about how he confirmed that it's not too far away from today where he's going be starting production for the next story in the Superman saga. So yeah, very exciting time. Next week, Dexter Resurrection Episode 8, Alien Earth Episode 3. I wanted to mention, you watched Band of Brothers?
