Speaker: Ladies and gentlemen, it's the divisional round week.
Speaker: I'm one mark deep, and we're freaking ready to light it up, baby.
Speaker: Triple F, let's go.
Speaker: Ladies and gentlemen, let's freaking go.
Speaker: It is the divisional round, and we got plenty to talk about, baby.
Speaker: Triple F coming in hot.
Speaker: We got one guy that is absolutely fired up to talk, and one guy that probably wants to crawl into a closet on the other side of his screen and maybe not see daylight or another person for the next three days.
Speaker: It's just me, Dane, and Eric this week on the podcast.
Speaker: Brent decided to not so secretly and not so sneakily just run away from this podcast this week because the Roarback Boys talked a lot of shit last week, and we're going to do our best –
Speaker: I'm speaking for myself.
Speaker: I don't know about Dane on the other side of the screen, but I'm going to do my best not to pour salt in an open wound.
Speaker: But Eric, we're going to talk about this game a little later, so save your opinions.
Speaker: But just tell me, you know, what's the what's the mental health like right now?
Speaker: How are we feeling?
Speaker: Did your kids get you back down to, you know, ground ground zero or are you all right over there?
Speaker: food has lost its taste i haven't slept the sun no longer shines it's been a horrible week beer tastes bad it's just it's a mess i'm coming we're gonna get into it i'm coming off the worst take i've had since we've started this podcast oh tough tough week
Speaker: And tough weeks just seem to find their way around here.
Speaker: Obviously, we haven't been the most consistent podcast from our takes and our bets and whatnot.
Speaker: But we have been our consistent podcast from keeping the vibes up and keeping the beers flowing.
Speaker: So no matter what, we will keep that energy going forward.
Speaker: I know we just talked about it a little bit off air before we got on here, but...
Speaker: Not really a ton to talk about college football-wise.
Speaker: I know we probably drove people crazy by how much we were loving up on Nick Saban last week, but I think it was well warranted.
Speaker: But talking a little bit just for a second about college football, Eric, I know that you're a big transfer portal guy.
Speaker: You're probably paying attention to it a lot with the new coaching hire.
Speaker: For Dana and I, we're seeing the big names, but we're not really so much worried about the people leaving because it's not a change of scenery.
Speaker: But how much do you value all the names that you're seeing come and go right now?
Speaker: And where's your headspace at with Aggie football?
Speaker: Man, I think Elko has done a great job.
Speaker: I think he's put together a really good staff, and then they just instantly got to work.
Speaker: There's just been reports of just like, Elko's just like not sleeping.
Speaker: This guy is grinding.
Speaker: And we just moved up in the top 24-7, whatever the rankings are.
Speaker: We just moved up to number one in the –
Speaker: transfer portal rankings for this year's class.
Speaker: And I don't put just a ton of value in that, but we have filled a lot of key positions.
Speaker: We did just lose yesterday.
Speaker: We lost our athletic director, Ross Bjork, who hired Elko.
Speaker: He just went to Ohio State to become their athletic director.
Speaker: So that was kind of a huge gut punch.
Speaker: I feel like
Speaker: He was involved in the extension to Jimbo Fisher and that, but he also has brought a lot of momentum to A&M sports and a lot of different areas.
Speaker: So kind of sad to lose that.
Speaker: Definitely pumped about some of the guys we brought in, specifically a cornerback that we just got from Bama.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I don't know how you guys feel about this, but these Bama athletic directors, these Bama coaches, Bama fans coming out and complaining that all their players are hitting the transfer portal, that for once in their life, things are not going their way.
Speaker: and everything is not lined up perfectly for Alabama football.
Speaker: This mass exodus that they have seen has been beautiful.
Speaker: I hope they freaking suck next year.
Speaker: And the year after that, and the year after that.
Speaker: I know Kalen DeBoer's a good coach.
Speaker: He's going to get it going.
Speaker: But seeing all these players leave, and I don't know if you all know, you know that Caleb Downs, their stud freshman safety that everybody's like, dude, he's going to be the best player in the NFL one day.
Speaker: He entered the transfer portal today.
Speaker: I hope he leaves.
Speaker: I hope everybody walks.
Speaker: I love it.
Speaker: Dude, that is so funny.
Speaker: I saw a tweet earlier today, and it was from some kind of Alabama fan page, and they just tweeted talking about how NIL is out of control.
Speaker: And I lost my freaking mind.
Speaker: That is so damn funny.
Speaker: I really like it.
Speaker: I think you're right.
Speaker: I think DeBoer is going to be great.
Speaker: I don't think they're going to miss a step.
Speaker: But gosh almighty, is this not just one of the most beautiful things you've ever seen?
Speaker: Speaking of Kalen DeBoer, I think we got to talk about the obvious.
Speaker: I won last week, not to toot my own horn, but I was fortunate to get the first overall pick and chose not heavy for Kalen DeBoer.
Speaker: You can't, you're not going to pick who you're giving a wink to right now, right?
Speaker: No, no, no, no.
Speaker: Oh, okay.
Speaker: I was just making sure that you weren't about to do that.
Speaker: If you keep freaking interrupting me whenever I'm trying to talk on the podcast, it may be you eating a wink.
Speaker: Yes, sir.
Speaker: I just wanted to announce that this will not be a fair race.
Speaker: This is not, I'm not going to be diplomatic.
Speaker: I'm not going to be
Speaker: you know, equal, equal rights, equal fights.
Speaker: No, this is, if you want to bribe me, if you want to, you know, do some kiss assery, this will go into effect.
Speaker: I will not be a fair judge.
Speaker: So I'm open to any and all bribes.
Speaker: So keep that in mind throughout the next couple of weeks.
Speaker: And I thought, I mean, Slade, I thought that was a brilliant pick.
Speaker: And have I mentioned that that shirt's looking a little tight on you?
Speaker: Have you been working out?
Speaker: Thank you, Eric.
Speaker: Yes, I have.
Speaker: I went and got up and worked out this morning.
Speaker: Thanks, Eric.
Speaker: Slade, he probably thinks that you're sure his type because he said that you were me.
Speaker: He just got our names mixed up.
Speaker: Does he think that you gained a lot of weight?
Speaker: Slade, I think you look phenomenal.
Speaker: Thanks, man.
Speaker: Dude, that's true.
Speaker: That was kind of like a low blow.
Speaker: I mean, not to say you're looking great too, Dane, but like do you remember when you went on that hot streak and trying to work out and be, you know, ripped for your honeymoon and stuff?
Speaker: Yeah, you're great.
Speaker: What has a guy got to do to get recognized over here?
Speaker: I mean, how hard do I have to go in the paint?
Speaker: Slade, I mean, I don't care what Eric says.
Speaker: Maybe he's been drinking the beer all week long.
Speaker: I thought your shirt looked a little loose except for around the arms.
Speaker: But, hey, that's just what I was thinking.
Speaker: Hey.
Speaker: I appreciate it.
Speaker: And you know what?
Speaker: You know who it goes into effect for not being here is Brent.
Speaker: I mean, if you can't show up for the boys, does he need to show up for a singular wing?
Speaker: Assuming he doesn't have to eat all of them.
Speaker: But Brent, I better be hearing some special texts, assuming you listen to this episode.
Speaker: So this will not be a fair fight.
Speaker: And I'm still open and I will be persuaded.
Speaker: So just throwing that out there.
Speaker: But congrats to Kalen DeBoer.
Speaker: I think that that is probably a pretty shitty situation to go into, to be perfectly honest.
Speaker: I know you're going into one of the greatest football programs ever assembled, but every single move, every single practice, every single clip will be compared to the greatest college football coach of all time.
Speaker: Internally, externally, everything.
Speaker: It's going to be a tough uphill battle.
Speaker: And if he can overcome it, I think he can be absolutely phenomenal.
Speaker: But we'll see how it goes.
Speaker: I'm excited.
Speaker: I'm excited for the new college football landscape.
Speaker: We don't really know what's going to happen with Jim Harbaugh.
Speaker: And I truly expected to hear a big opening this week, but we just, right before we got on air, we heard that the Dallas Cowboys will not be moving off of Mike McCarthy.
Speaker: I think pretty shocking all things considered.
Speaker: I fully expected him and more than likely Nick Sirianni to be out of a job by the end of the week.
Speaker: But the Cowboys are going to give the old fat man one last run of the mill.
Speaker: Eric, I can see it written all over your face.
Speaker: I can tell that you are just freaking pissed.
Speaker: What's going through your head over there?
Speaker: All right.
Speaker: Well, let's just start with...
Speaker: Last week, I came on here and I was just, I could not have been more confident.
Speaker: Everything was set up for the Cowboys so perfectly.
Speaker: Home field advantage.
Speaker: We're playing the youngest team in playoff history.
Speaker: A quarterback that's making his first playoff start.
Speaker: Like, it could not have been set up better for us.
Speaker: And to see the effort that we gave, that our defense gave, that our offense gave, that our coaching staff, mentally, what we were there to do,
Speaker: That was, of all the letdowns, that was probably the most ridiculous and embarrassing.
Speaker: And it was so frustrating.
Speaker: And I'm still frustrated because...
Speaker: I fell in love with this team and I do it every year.
Speaker: And this year, you guys have got to give me credit.
Speaker: I held out for a long time this season.
Speaker: I think it was still about week 10 that I was saying, it doesn't matter.
Speaker: It doesn't matter.
Speaker: I got to see what we do in the playoffs.
Speaker: Then it was after the Eagles, the second time we played the Eagles and we dominated was when I finally just said, okay, I love this Cowboys team.
Speaker: Like this is our year.
Speaker: We're going to win it all.
Speaker: Fell in love like I always do.
Speaker: And they break my heart.
Speaker: I think it's a good thing we do this podcast a few days after the game.
Speaker: So I've got some time to think about it because I was, I was pretty hot Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.
Speaker: So finally I could kind of catch my breath here.
Speaker: And honestly, before an hour ago, I had this entire rant about how I had completely talking myself into Bill Belichick.
Speaker: And I said, you know what?
Speaker: We're all in.
Speaker: all in right now.
Speaker: And we're going to give Bill Belichick three years, sell out, give him everybody and anybody and every resource that you can give him.
Speaker: And let's take this core of guys that we have on this team, very talented team, and let's go win a Super Bowl.
Speaker: And, well, yeah, I mean, obviously that didn't happen, and we're going to stick with Mike McCarthy.
Speaker: I'm not excited about it.
Speaker: I don't know what's going to change.
Speaker: To me, it's like the confidence.
Speaker: When we walked into that building, we were so tight.
Speaker: In warm-ups, everybody was just nervous as hell.
Speaker: And I just – it's not – I mean, if you don't change anything, how's that ever going to change?
Speaker: So pretty frustrated, super disappointing.
Speaker: We'll probably fall for it again next year.
Speaker: Probably so.
Speaker: Hey, next year, maybe y'all's here.
Speaker: You never know.
Speaker: But one thing that I think flies under the radar, and most people don't talk about this, I want to know what it's like for you, Eric.
Speaker: I know that you probably just wanted to scream profanities and throw things at your TV on Sunday, but what's it like to have to see that out of a team that you have bought into and have cared about for so long and
Speaker: And then you have to turn around and look at Hallie and just be like the dad all over again.
Speaker: Or you have to look at Weston and, you know, you're like, gosh, damn it.
Speaker: I don't want to just like ruin his image of me, but I also just fricking hate this team.
Speaker: What's it like to have to, you know, be a kid watching your favorite team and then turn around and be a dad and not lose your absolute shit.
Speaker: It's worse for A&M games.
Speaker: As much as I love the Cowboys, it's not the same level as it is with A&M.
Speaker: So I can kind of hide it and mask it with the Cowboys.
Speaker: The Aggies is when it gets bad.
Speaker: It's like, I've got to go to the other room.
Speaker: And it gets a little bit out of hand.
Speaker: But yeah, the Cowboys, I can kind of...
Speaker: kind of temperate a little bit, but it's embarrassing.
Speaker: I cannot believe, like, this was not the rant that I was expecting.
Speaker: I bet if McCarthy was still, if there hadn't been a decision, I think we'd be hearing a different story from Eric.
Speaker: But I'm just shocked that we haven't heard an apology before.
Speaker: from Eric about, you know, jinxing the Cowboys.
Speaker: Him and Brent, they both did it.
Speaker: Eric said, I don't know if this is word for word or if I'm paraphrasing here, but he said, if it was Aaron Rodgers, I would be scared.
Speaker: He's the Cowboy Killer.
Speaker: I am not scared of Jordan Love.
Speaker: Maybe that's, I mean, we kind of know how Eric talks on this.
Speaker: Maybe that's because Jordan Love, maybe because he's an African-American quarterback.
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: I'm not putting words into Eric's mouth.
Speaker: I'm not putting the words into Eric's mouth, but I'm just saying I kind of expected a little bit of an apology to all the other Cowboys fans.
Speaker: Eric, this is your chance.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: It was a reverse jinx is what I was going for.
Speaker: It was the reverse jinx.
Speaker: And I guess I didn't reverse the jinx.
Speaker: It just jinxed it.
Speaker: I am sorry.
Speaker: That was the worst take I've had.
Speaker: I'm still in shock.
Speaker: I don't know what else.
Speaker: Like, seriously, guys, home field –
Speaker: We have the number one offense in the NFL this year, especially at home.
Speaker: We scored whatever, 30, what was it?
Speaker: It's like 37 points a game at home this year or whatever.
Speaker: And it's 27 to zero in that game.
Speaker: Two pick sixes.
Speaker: That can't throw it to CD on an out route and hit him in the hands.
Speaker: Coaches were just not like, as much as I love Dan Quinn, he's fixing to leave and go get a head coaching job.
Speaker: It's like,
Speaker: I mean, it's like, what was the effort that he gave?
Speaker: He got worked by Matt LaFleur.
Speaker: Like, embarrassing.
Speaker: Yeah, you talk about that home field advantage.
Speaker: There's been plenty of crazy stats.
Speaker: You know, the Packers have more wins in AT&T Stadium, playoff wins than the Cowboys do, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker: This one I saw today shocked me.
Speaker: So, the Cowboys –
Speaker: throughout the entire regular season, trailed at home for a total of 44 minutes and 36 seconds.
Speaker: This past wildcard weekend versus the Packers, they trailed for 52 minutes and 8 seconds.
Speaker: So they trailed for more in this game than they did the entire season at home.
Speaker: That just showed the complete flip of the script.
Speaker: And it's been the story of the Dallas Cowboys and the Eagles.
Speaker: The Eagles were 10-1 and then lost six out of their last seven and just completely collapsed.
Speaker: The Cowboys on an absolute tear and then completely collapsed, seemingly out of nowhere with no answers in the final game of the season.
Speaker: So I got a question for y'all, and I don't want to take anything away from the Packers.
Speaker: Like, I honestly am blown away at Jordan Love.
Speaker: I am blown away at Matt LaFleur, like mainly Matt LaFleur.
Speaker: Like, I'm just like, dude, that was a mastermind.
Speaker: Like, that was genius.
Speaker: Everything that happened in that game, he worked us.
Speaker: So, but as y'all were watching that game, in y'all's opinions, as not diehard Cowboys fans, you could probably see the TV.
Speaker: It wasn't just red and you weren't just fuming.
Speaker: You were just watching it through clear eyes.
Speaker: Who to you, I mean, if you can't, it wasn't one person's fault.
Speaker: It was an ass beating all the way around.
Speaker: But if you're saying, okay, Mike McCarthy, Dan Quinn, or that, I mean, where are you putting a majority of the blame going into something like that?
Speaker: Go ahead, Slade.
Speaker: I would never have thought going into the game that
Speaker: Dan Quinn would be the guy that everybody was kind of like, what the hell?
Speaker: Dak looked out of sync.
Speaker: And really, I loved the Packers move.
Speaker: And Dane brought this up.
Speaker: He was like, this is why Washington should have taken the ball to start the game in the national championship versus Michigan.
Speaker: Packers came out and said, we're underdogs.
Speaker: We're a young team playing with house money.
Speaker: Eff it.
Speaker: Give us the ball.
Speaker: And then bang, bang, bang.
Speaker: It was seven nothing.
Speaker: Then bang, bang, bang.
Speaker: It was 14 nothing.
Speaker: Everybody's going, oh shit.
Speaker: And from then on, Dak Prescott said, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.
Speaker: Every time he touched the ball.
Speaker: Dan Quinn, I'm not sure how you get that schemed out that bad.
Speaker: I know that their talent on the outside is insane.
Speaker: But whenever they would sit back in these zones and –
Speaker: Really, you go back and look at the stat line, it was a lot of their run game that was beating the shit out of the Cowboys.
Speaker: I don't think Jordan Love threw it over 20 times.
Speaker: It just looked like he was lighting it up because every pass he threw was a 20-yard gain.
Speaker: And that is just straight, you know, not having your guys ready and not having your guys in the right spot.
Speaker: So I think Dan Quinn needs to be getting more heat from this.
Speaker: I think he's the only guy that hasn't gotten his fair share of blame.
Speaker: I know that people probably realize that.
Speaker: But I don't care how good he was in the regular season.
Speaker: He laid an egg this week.
Speaker: Slade, going back to what you were talking about, Packers coming out and taking the ball.
Speaker: What I thought was so crazy is, for one, that they had the balls to do that.
Speaker: And they went right down the field.
Speaker: They put together a beautiful seven-minute drive and just went right down their throats and scored.
Speaker: That was awesome.
Speaker: But the thing is, they knew that they were going to get the ball first.
Speaker: Because pretty much every single team, if they win the flip, they'll defer it.
Speaker: So then the Packers would get the ball, saying the Cowboys would win it.
Speaker: They knew that they were going to get the ball.
Speaker: And I bet you they just had this script lined out, and they just went down there and beat the shit out of them.
Speaker: And I mean, it was just crazy.
Speaker: I wish we could have seen that from Washington a few weeks ago.
Speaker: But Eric, to answer your question, I'm going to go with Mike McCarthy first.
Speaker: I mean, it's your job to have the entire team ready, the entire team motivated.
Speaker: I highly doubt Dan Quinn is the one giving the pregame speech.
Speaker: Defense looked awful, but the offense also looked awful.
Speaker: And that one's on McCarthy.
Speaker: I mean, it's, I think just overall, it is just an absolute shitter by Mike McCarthy.
Speaker: And it just, it's just the same bullshit every year with Mike McCarthy.
Speaker: So I'll go ahead and then I want it back so I can talk about Cody Myers for a sec.
Speaker: Sorry, I'm not trying to get too much into the weeds of it, but the main thing that bugged me about the defense was the Cowboys play a ton of man defense because of their skill on the secondary.
Speaker: And they drop back in so much zone, and I get that you have to be able to see what's in front of you to be able to fly up and play the run very well, but...
Speaker: I just never would have predicted them to go completely away from what worked all year for them and just never get back into it.
Speaker: Since then, it just seemed like they could never get back into their flow.
Speaker: And I think that whenever you stop doing what makes you successful, no matter what, your team just will never be able to overcorrect.
Speaker: Just like, you know, in high school, whenever, sorry, Dane, this is a low blow, but whenever you play teams like Cosby 10 and you have to change up your scheme completely,
Speaker: and you just try to be this tough, hard-nosed, you know, we're going to run it down their throat just like they do ours instead of doing what works, it just kind of fucks you up, honestly.
Speaker: I couldn't agree more.
Speaker: So I asked Cody.
Speaker: We've talked on here a lot about how big of a fan Cody Myers is of the Cowboys.
Speaker: We made Eric predict what he was going to say, and so I gave him the chance to send me a text of what he wanted to say.
Speaker: And before I read this, I want to let you all know that the Cowboys fan base is broken.
Speaker: Cody did not put a single cuss word in this big paragraph.
Speaker: He did not trash McCarthy.
Speaker: He did not trash Dan Quinn.
Speaker: All he said was this year was a disaster.
Speaker: All we got to do for next year is figure out how to stop a power run game.
Speaker: And we need to stop Green Bay.
Speaker: And the expectations are to improve on defense.
Speaker: But I got to say, I'm proud of the way that we finished 12-5 on the season and winning the division.
Speaker: I mean, blown away.
Speaker: Blown away by that.
Speaker: I couldn't believe it.
Speaker: Yeah, that is shocking.
Speaker: He's obviously had a few days to calm down as well and talk himself off the cliff.
Speaker: I guess it's just glass half full Cowboys fans day because we've been negative for the last six or four or five, whatever it's been.
Speaker: So let me, I'm going to turn the page just a little bit, Slade, if you're good with that.
Speaker: So I got a question.
Speaker: Are you taking it off of Cowboys talk?
Speaker: Go ahead, Dane.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: So I want to ask you this question before we move off the Cowboys talk.
Speaker: After this Cowboys loss, who is the bigger winner out of these three?
Speaker: San Francisco,
Speaker: The Detroit Lions, they get to host another playoff game.
Speaker: Now they're playing the Bucs instead of having to play the Cowboys.
Speaker: Or the Green Bay Packers.
Speaker: They get a win.
Speaker: Jordan Love gets a win.
Speaker: It's kind of looking like that pick behind it that they took him when they had Aaron Rodgers paying off and he's the future.
Speaker: Who is the big winner out of those three teams?
Speaker: Eric?
Speaker: All right, Dave, that's a great question because it kind of leads literally directly into what I was just about to ask you all.
Speaker: So my answer to that is the 49ers.
Speaker: If this is not the 49ers year to win the Super Bowl,
Speaker: then when is it going to happen?
Speaker: Because you know that these windows are not open for long, and the 49ers have been right there for, what, three or four years in a row now.
Speaker: If this is not their time, I don't know when it is.
Speaker: So I was just going to ask you all.
Speaker: I was going to say, how do the 49ers not win this Super Bowl?
Speaker: So I'm going to go with the 49ers.
Speaker: We'll see what happens.
Speaker: Slade?
Speaker: See, I don't think – I mean, obviously, the 49ers are excited to play a lesser seed and be in the position where they are because there's not a powerhouse that they're going against.
Speaker: But they're also looking at a team just like Dallas did last week.
Speaker: that's playing with house money, that knows that nobody picked them to be there.
Speaker: They're going to be, you know, humongous underdogs again.
Speaker: And they're off a bye week, and that's everybody's criticism of resting your guys, you know, two weeks in a row and having kind of that double bye is kind of guys can come out a little tight, a little lackadaisical, a little bit of rust, and Green Bay will have no rust.
Speaker: Green Bay will be just happy to be there, slinging it, being clever, letting their boys hang out.
Speaker: It does not matter.
Speaker: They are going to be there to just – they're just going to play football.
Speaker: So I think that's a dangerous team to play, especially with the talent that they have on offense.
Speaker: I still think the 49ers, like you said, Eric, this is your year.
Speaker: Go prove it.
Speaker: This is the year you should win it.
Speaker: But I think that adds just a little bit more pressure.
Speaker: So I –
Speaker: Would not be a happy 49ers fan right now going, gosh, damn, Jordan Love is playing good and they are playing with house money.
Speaker: So I wouldn't feel great, to be honest.
Speaker: I'm right there with y'all.
Speaker: I don't think San Fran should feel that good.
Speaker: There's always something about a team that has nothing to lose.
Speaker: You know, you go and you look at all the March Madness upsets, those teams have nothing to lose.
Speaker: That first round of 64, when those 12 seeds always end up beating the five seeds,
Speaker: They have nothing to lose.
Speaker: No one thinks they're going to win.
Speaker: They're kind of hot because they just got in there.
Speaker: They had to work their ass off to get in there and they have nothing to lose.
Speaker: That's kind of like the Packers right now.
Speaker: And all I got to say is if, if I'm the 49ers, if I'm Kyle Shanahan and you win that coin flip, you take the damn ball.
Speaker: You do not give them a chance to go and set the tone like they did against Dallas.
Speaker: Because I really think if Dallas gets the ball first, I think you're looking at a completely, completely different game.
Speaker: So,
Speaker: that might change the whole beginning of all the rest of these games after watching that.
Speaker: So I don't think the 49ers are a shoe in Eric.
Speaker: I mean, they should win it, but I would not be feeling super safe right now if I was them.
Speaker: So I know that this is crazy, and y'all are going to totally disagree with me.
Speaker: But right now, I know that next year, out of our three favorite teams here, the Cowboys will easily be the best one next year.
Speaker: Sorry, Dane, the Jets just probably are not going to win it all next year.
Speaker: I know that you're banking on it.
Speaker: But personally, I feel better about the way we ended the season and the progress and the position we
Speaker: in the offseason about the Cardinals than I do about the Cowboys or the Jets.
Speaker: Because the Cowboys, I just feel like you have a lot of doubt.
Speaker: The Cardinals, again, house money next year, playing with the guy that everybody feels like they believed in.
Speaker: And, Eric, you're not going to love this stat, but I sent it over to Dane this week.
Speaker: Did you know that the Cardinals have more playoff wins in NFC Championship appearances and Super Bowl appearances than
Speaker: since 2000 than the Dallas Cowboys and the Cardinals are a poverty poverty ass franchise.
Speaker: So that's a kind of, sorry, that's a salt in the wound stat there, but, um, the, the Cardinals, I just, I think we're going to get some Maserati, Marvin Harrison.
Speaker: And then I feel great.
Speaker: Dane, I'm sure you don't feel as well over there, but, um, Eric, was that too much salt in the wound or is that a fair, just me trying to be happy about my team?
Speaker: That's a pretty low blow.
Speaker: I've already seen like,
Speaker: like Jordan Love next week could tie Dak Prescott's playoff wins.
Speaker: Like, it's just like, there's so many stuff.
Speaker: Like Riley Stock, the big Texans fan, he's been sending me the same deal.
Speaker: It's like, they've, I don't know how they've won one more game than the Cowboys since they joined the NFL in 2002 in the playoffs.
Speaker: So it's just like, this is a mess.
Speaker: I saw that Mark Sanchez, the, the, I saw that the jets haven't been to the playoffs.
Speaker: What did I see?
Speaker: It was like, they haven't been to the playoffs in,
Speaker: I don't know, like 10 years or something.
Speaker: The last time they went was when Sanchez was their quarterback.
Speaker: I know that.
Speaker: I don't know what year.
Speaker: And they have more playoff wins since – it was the same thing.
Speaker: It was like since 2000 or whatever.
Speaker: That's what's crazy is like Dallas is always relevant.
Speaker: They typically have a good record like they have every year under Mike McCarthy, but –
Speaker: I mean, at some point, if you're Ferry Jerry, you've got to start looking around and being like, man.
Speaker: Like, he's so dead set that they are going to win the Super Bowl before he croaks over and dies.
Speaker: But, gosh, I wouldn't be feeling all that confident if I was him.
Speaker: I cannot believe that they didn't fire –
Speaker: I'm just blown away that they are keeping McCarthy.
Speaker: I've never seen this many good head coaching candidates.
Speaker: This is by far the best year for that.
Speaker: And I don't think that you could get a Bill Belichick or a Jim Harbaugh unless you are the only team out there that needs a head coach.
Speaker: Because you look at it, Ferry Jerry's going to control everything you do.
Speaker: And both of those guys, that's not what they want.
Speaker: So maybe that's why they knew they wouldn't be in the running.
Speaker: But I'm just blown away at what they're doing.
Speaker: Eric?
Speaker: So that's a good point, Dane.
Speaker: And I just thought of this while you were saying that.
Speaker: But it kind of makes me wonder, and I'm sure people will come out and say we'll learn more this week.
Speaker: But it kind of makes you wonder like –
Speaker: Are all those guys telling, did Dallas look into those guys?
Speaker: And they all just said, like, hell no.
Speaker: And then Dallas was like, okay, we don't want to look stupid.
Speaker: We don't want to look desperate.
Speaker: The guys we really wanted, they said, okay, fine, we're keeping Mike McCarthy.
Speaker: That was our plan the whole time.
Speaker: I mean, you never know if that's going on behind the scenes too.
Speaker: I think they could have had a decent chance at a Mike Vrabel, and I think today any Cowboys fan would have taken Mike Vrabel going into next year over Mike McCarthy.
Speaker: But, Dane, that's a great question.
Speaker: Is there any chance that Nick Sirianni still has his job come the start of next season?
Speaker: I think he does just because there seems to be a lot of head coaching vacancies.
Speaker: And so I bet you he sticks around for one more year.
Speaker: I mean, shit, he took them to the Super Bowl last year.
Speaker: Seemed like he was the guy.
Speaker: We were all talking about how we hate him, but you got to give him props.
Speaker: He's a damn good coach.
Speaker: And then for all that to flip him one year.
Speaker: I mean, shit, at one point this year they were 10-1.
Speaker: I know you can't close the season out like that, but I just think he's got to stick around for one more year.
Speaker: What do you think, Eric?
Speaker: I'm actually, I agree with you.
Speaker: I kind of think everybody's just totally bailed on him.
Speaker: I'm kind of like you.
Speaker: I'm like, man, I thought he was a perfect fit for Philly.
Speaker: They just came off a Super Bowl run.
Speaker: They've got an older roster.
Speaker: They had some injuries.
Speaker: I'm kind of like...
Speaker: I mean, I don't know.
Speaker: I'd take a Super Bowl run, you know, from our coach.
Speaker: Right.
Speaker: Yeah, you'd take that.
Speaker: But so if you could start – let's say the Cowboys fired Mark McCarthy, Eric, and you could start your team from now until whenever shit hits the fan or retirement, whatever.
Speaker: If you could start your team with – if you could hire your own head coach –
Speaker: Who would you choose between Jim Harbaugh, Mike Vrabel, and Bill Belichick if you were hiring the Cowboys coach tomorrow?
Speaker: Mike Vrabel.
Speaker: That's what I was thinking.
Speaker: I'm still blown away that they fired Mike Vrabel.
Speaker: I just absolutely dumbfounded.
Speaker: But you look at – I mean, he turned that franchise around.
Speaker: Belichick, what, he's probably got five more years of coaching if he really wants it, and that's still pushing it.
Speaker: Harbaugh, that –
Speaker: Corky motherfucker.
Speaker: You don't know.
Speaker: You just don't know with him.
Speaker: I mean, I can't believe that Harbaugh and Belichick are the ones being talked about and not Vrabel.
Speaker: Absolutely.
Speaker: It's a great year.
Speaker: It's a weird year.
Speaker: There's still some stones that will probably be dropped too.
Speaker: A lot of people are saying maybe Mike Tomlin is out of town.
Speaker: Maybe it's going to be a weird year.
Speaker: It's going to be a great offseason.
Speaker: I'm very excited about it.
Speaker: But talking a little bit about, I think –
Speaker: One guy who wasn't surprised about the Eagles' downfall was Brent.
Speaker: I don't know if you all listened back, but Brent absolutely nailed most of his takes last week.
Speaker: And especially his Eagles take, he just described exactly what happened in the game.
Speaker: So hats off to you, Brent.
Speaker: We'll see if you listen to this this far into the podcast this week.
Speaker: I expect a shout-out and maybe some praise so that you don't get a wing.
Speaker: But talking a little bit about some other surprises –
Speaker: It's a little bit surprising and disappointing that January Joe Flacco let us down so hard.
Speaker: But how about C.J.
Speaker: Stroud just laying a big D on the Cleveland Browns D and your love affair over there with Myles Garrett.
Speaker: Sorry, Eric.
Speaker: My love affair or Vicky's love affair?
Speaker: Hey.
Speaker: Hey, there's a wink.
Speaker: That's a wink.
Speaker: Keep that in mind, Slade.
Speaker: That's going into the minus call, Merrick.
Speaker: I would watch your damn words.
Speaker: We've got to give just a little bit of – No.
Speaker: He just sent us a hilarious text.
Speaker: I'm not going to say what she said.
Speaker: She just sent us a hilarious text about Miles Garrett, and it was very funny.
Speaker: So that's – I don't think that's – it was inappropriate.
Speaker: It was just hilarious.
Speaker: Your farmer's tan looks great to me, Dave.
Speaker: You've always, yeah.
Speaker: Anyways, but talking a little bit about last week, what was maybe y'all's favorite moment from last weekend or your most surprising moment?
Speaker: I know there wasn't a ton of games, but it was a lot of fun action while we're at it, but...
Speaker: It's just been kind of a whirlwind for this last week.
Speaker: Dane?
Speaker: Yeah, it really has been.
Speaker: I think this is the first time that when the playoffs started, I was like, okay, literally anything could happen.
Speaker: I don't know who my Super Bowl winner is.
Speaker: Anything could happen.
Speaker: And that was exactly what it was.
Speaker: I think my favorite thing from this weekend was probably the Texans and C.J.
Speaker: Stroud and D'Amico Ryans having that big, big win.
Speaker: First year head coach, rookie, second overall pick, and they just went out there and beat the shit out of the Browns.
Speaker: And I'm also just a big fan whenever –
Speaker: like, historically bad teams become great.
Speaker: Like, that first year that Cleveland made the playoffs with Baker in his second or third year, whatever it was, I hated Baker Mayfield, but I was really happy that the Browns were good.
Speaker: And, I mean, that game, it was such a good game.
Speaker: Not really the happy ending that Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns were kind of hoping for, but, man, I'm just –
Speaker: That's all I got to say.
Speaker: Oh, it was a great weekend with so many great storylines.
Speaker: I'm a little bit the opposite, Dane.
Speaker: I'm going to look at this a little bit different.
Speaker: I have a lot of clarity and vision watching the rest of these playoffs.
Speaker: I think that there are two teams that I just see matching up in the Super Bowl, and I can't believe I'm going to put this out there because they're all going to roast me next week if both these teams lose.
Speaker: This weekend,
Speaker: This has to be a Bills 49ers Super Bowl.
Speaker: These are two teams that have been knocking on the door.
Speaker: for three to four years now and have not been able to get over the hump.
Speaker: They've had bad luck.
Speaker: The Josh Allen's the 13 seconds against Mahomes, the injuries that the 49ers have had where they've lost all their quarterbacks, like just all the little bitty things that have happened to both franchises.
Speaker: This is your time.
Speaker: Like if you're sitting there in the Bill's shoes, you've got Mahomes coming in with a team that looked good last week in some bad weather,
Speaker: The Chiefs, here they come again.
Speaker: It looks like they're peaking at the right time.
Speaker: If you're the Bills, your window is not that big.
Speaker: This is your time to beat the Chiefs.
Speaker: And then once you do that, I feel like they're going to be on top of the world.
Speaker: I feel like they get past the Ravens.
Speaker: Then I feel like they make it to the Super Bowl.
Speaker: 49ers the same way, like I said earlier.
Speaker: It's like this is your moment.
Speaker: This is what I believe to be the weakest NFC player.
Speaker: Final four.
Speaker: I mean, I just like, I don't mean the weakest, but I just mean, I think the 49ers are literally, but you know, I think there'll be a touchdown favorite in every single game.
Speaker: So though to me, it's those two teams on a collision course.
Speaker: I would love to see that happen by the way, just because they're two teams that have been trying to get over the hump.
Speaker: So we'll see, but it was a great weekend of football and super pumped about CJ Stroud and the Texans.
Speaker: That guy's fun to watch.
Speaker: I am not pumped about C.J.
Speaker: Stratton, the Texas.
Speaker: That really pisses me off.
Speaker: I really thought going into this year, the Cardinals, you know, they got – when the Texans traded down for Will Anderson, the Cardinals –
Speaker: had the Houston Texans first round pick this upcoming year.
Speaker: So I was like, man, like two top 10 picks, easy, easy.
Speaker: And then the Texans just somehow got lucky and drafted the greatest rookie quarterback of all freaking time.
Speaker: And it's just been really freaking frustrating.
Speaker: And he just keeps freaking winning.
Speaker: Freaking, oh, I hate him.
Speaker: Anyways, but the Bills –
Speaker: If they win this game this upcoming weekend, I would bet a farm down that they go to the Super Bowl.
Speaker: Not sure if they win, but they definitely go to the Super Bowl.
Speaker: This week is scary for the Bills in my eyes because, again, this is one of those games that all the pressure is on the Bills.
Speaker: If this is not the year that the Buffalo Bills beat the Kansas City Chiefs, when are you going to beat Patrick Mahomes?
Speaker: They're down.
Speaker: They've been down all year.
Speaker: They have obvious, obvious flaws.
Speaker: This has just been writing on the wall all year that it's not the year for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Speaker: And the Bills have been absolutely peaking ever since they went on that kind of skid early in the season.
Speaker: They've been electric.
Speaker: They've got the run game going.
Speaker: If you don't beat
Speaker: The Chiefs in Buffalo, when are you ever going to beat them?
Speaker: So I feel like the weight of the world has to be on their shoulders.
Speaker: If they can win this game, they're probably going to be one of those teams that feels like they're playing with house money, even though they'll be favorites.
Speaker: They're just going to be playing with house money because they finally got the monkey off their back.
Speaker: They finally beat Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker: They finally beat the Chiefs.
Speaker: I think it's going to be the best game of the weekend, and I'm freaking fired up to watch it.
Speaker: But, yeah, Eric?
Speaker: So this was my hot take that I had for a few guys the other day.
Speaker: I just said this.
Speaker: I mentioned this.
Speaker: And everybody was like, what are you talking about?
Speaker: I think you're crazy.
Speaker: I truly believe.
Speaker: So –
Speaker: I think next year, Rashi Rice will be a first round fantasy football draft pick.
Speaker: Is that crazy to say?
Speaker: I don't think so.
Speaker: I mean, especially if you're thinking of a PPR, I mean, he's probably, he's probably later on.
Speaker: I mean, he's not going to be a top five, at least this next year, but I don't, I definitely don't think you're crazy.
Speaker: That guy just, you kind of forget who he is.
Speaker: And then all of a sudden you see him catch a touchdown pass and,
Speaker: Work his way into the end zone.
Speaker: You're like, oh, shit, I kind of forgot about that guy.
Speaker: But I think that, you know, if he can have one more really, really good game, I think that he's going to be talked about a lot this offseason.
Speaker: I do not call that a hot take.
Speaker: I just want to say I am the Dallas Cowboys of fantasy football because every year I get a hot start.
Speaker: I'm peaking at the right time.
Speaker: Towards the end of the season, I am number one in points scored every damn year and every damn league.
Speaker: And I am feeling so confident.
Speaker: I have depth.
Speaker: I have studs.
Speaker: I have everything.
Speaker: And then it just rips my heart out in the first round from this bitch named Amari Cooper.
Speaker: So not a fan of the fantasy football.
Speaker: I don't really want to get into that tangent because I don't want to talk about it.
Speaker: But I am the Dallas Cowboys of fantasy football.
Speaker: But going into this week, we talked a little bit about all of these games, but who's the better feel-good story going into this week?
Speaker: You know, the Buccaneers, I would say it's pretty obvious none of us have always been, even though we did spread some love to, you know, Baker Baker, Titty Shaker last week.
Speaker: We can all be proud of how Baker Mayfield kind of has his resurgence there with the Buccaneers.
Speaker: They're kind of one of those teams that,
Speaker: Nobody expects them to win another game or make a run for the Super Bowl.
Speaker: But we're all happy for Baker.
Speaker: We're all happy for his comeback.
Speaker: But who are you more happy for looking into this?
Speaker: Jared Goff had a Super Bowl but then got kicked to the curb.
Speaker: Dane, whenever you're looking at this game, this matchup between the Lions and the Buccaneers, it's kind of one of those you're sad that one of them has to end their Cinderella run.
Speaker: But who do you have more warmth in your heart for?
Speaker: It's got to be the Lions and Jared Goff slayed.
Speaker: I mean, the guy literally took the Rams to the Super Bowl and then they traded him for Matt Stafford, won a Super Bowl with Matt Stafford, and then Jared Goff gets to be a part of that rebuild.
Speaker: The first playoff came in like 32 years.
Speaker: Did I read that right?
Speaker: That seems crazy, but that's what I saw, and that is just absolutely crazy.
Speaker: How do you not root for a guy like Dan Campbell?
Speaker: I know we're always talking about how awesome he is, but
Speaker: The Lions are the best feel-good story.
Speaker: I would say the Texans, but they've had recent success four years ago or whatever.
Speaker: But, gosh, I want this Lions team to win it all.
Speaker: And I'm so glad that they don't have to play the Cowboys now.
Speaker: I'm not trying to pour more salt on them, but I'm so glad that they have a much more winnable game.
Speaker: They get to host another one.
Speaker: That just makes me so happy for that fan base because those guys that stuck around through it, you know they're loyal.
Speaker: Yeah, I agree.
Speaker: How can you not root for Dan Campbell?
Speaker: He's such a likable team.
Speaker: Jared Goff, such a likable story.
Speaker: I had one of my worst future bets.
Speaker: I literally – I mean, I was just like everybody else.
Speaker: I just thought the Bucs were going to be in the Caleb Williams tank fest.
Speaker: You know, like I bet them under six and a half wins for the season.
Speaker: I mean, I just never, ever saw this coming.
Speaker: But –
Speaker: Baker did it again.
Speaker: So it's pretty impressive.
Speaker: But I don't know.
Speaker: We'll see if the Lions will win this game.
Speaker: But it's just really, really hard to see them going into San Francisco and winning that game.
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: That's going to be a tough one.
Speaker: But who knows?
Speaker: Who knows?
Speaker: Biggest pick to lay an egg this week, either player or team.
Speaker: Do any of y'all or do either of y'all have a, you know, person or team in mind that y'all have a gut feeling it's time to lay an egg?
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: I'll, uh,
Speaker: I'll say I know exactly what Eric's going to say, so I'm going to go a different route.
Speaker: I'm going Josh Allen.
Speaker: I mean, he could easily go out there and shit the bed, throw three picks.
Speaker: Stephon Diggs might not punch him on the sidelines.
Speaker: And I don't want to see that.
Speaker: I mean, I want to see such a great game.
Speaker: I would be so disappointed if –
Speaker: Josh Allen throws out a stinker.
Speaker: And I mean, like we keep on saying, this is his turn.
Speaker: He'll probably never play the Chiefs at home again in the playoffs.
Speaker: He's got to go out and win this one.
Speaker: He cannot pull a Josh Allen.
Speaker: Eric?
Speaker: You talk about somebody that's playing with a lot of pressure.
Speaker: The Texans have no pressure.
Speaker: So it's Lamar Jackson.
Speaker: I just have no faith in the Ravens.
Speaker: I literally think there's a chance that the Texans get them this week.
Speaker: I honestly do.
Speaker: I don't know why.
Speaker: I'm just not a believer in the Ravens.
Speaker: Spicy, hot takes.
Speaker: I love it all.
Speaker: Dane?
Speaker: Speaking of spicy hot takes, does anybody want to wing?
Speaker: Anyways, Dane, go ahead.
Speaker: Take us away with your draft segment.
Speaker: I'm done ranting, so tell the people what we've got coming up.
Speaker: Alrighty.
Speaker: Thanks for that.
Speaker: I've been waiting to do this draft for forever.
Speaker: I hope that y'all were able to compile a good list because this is just... I've been looking forward to this for so long.
Speaker: I wish we had everybody, but you just got to do it when you do it.
Speaker: But we're going to draft forgotten college players.
Speaker: These are players that...
Speaker: When you saw him play in college, you were like, oh, my gosh, this guy's incredible.
Speaker: He's an electric, iconic, and he's going to be so great in the NFL.
Speaker: And then all of a sudden, you just never hear their name again.
Speaker: And then every once in a while, you'll see their name just on the corner of some crazy stat.
Speaker: And so the example I gave was Bryce Love from Stanford.
Speaker: He was the running back right after CMC, dang near one of Heisman.
Speaker: And hell, I hadn't heard of that guy since that year that he almost won the Heisman.
Speaker: Absolutely bananas.
Speaker: So that's the draft.
Speaker: Slade, you got the first pick.
Speaker: I don't care how many rounds we go.
Speaker: Y'all decide it.
Speaker: It's up to y'all.
Speaker: Go ahead, Slade.
Speaker: I'm so screwed on this draft.
Speaker: I did no prep.
Speaker: So a lot of this is probably going to be like guys that I grew up watching from like – so they're probably going to be mostly tech guys.
Speaker: So with that being said, my number one pick is going to be Baron Batch.
Speaker: Y'all remember that dude was a freak running back for the –
Speaker: I had a Baron Batch jersey, and man, whenever it came to playing at the tailgates, playing football at the tailgates, I wanted to be Baron Batch.
Speaker: I wanted to be running like a bat out of hell, putting people on their feet.
Speaker: Sadly, I just grew up to be a very unathletic white guy, much to Eric's liking, but Baron Batch is my first overall pick.
Speaker: It's so funny you said that because I started making my list and then I got to the end and I was like, oh, God, this is another list of all white boys.
Speaker: I'm going to change it up.
Speaker: I was like, I've got to change this.
Speaker: So give me the first one that I'm going to take is Colt Brennan.
Speaker: He was the Hawaii quarterback that lit up the world and had all those records like, I don't know, it was probably 2013, 2014-ish.
Speaker: But he, like, led the FBS in passing yards.
Speaker: Like, he set the record for passing yards.
Speaker: I think he broke some of the tech guys that had it or whatever.
Speaker: So that was the most random thing ever, Hawaii being awesome at football.
Speaker: So give me Colt Brennan.
Speaker: That is such a great pick.
Speaker: Was he on the Hawaii team that went, like, 13-0 and they were just bitching and bitching that they weren't in the national championship game?
Speaker: And they go play Matt Stafford in the Georgia Bulldogs and get beat, like, 56-10?
Speaker: Was it that one?
Speaker: I think so.
Speaker: I know they were super good.
Speaker: I mean, it had to have been because there's really been no Hawaii teams that have been good.
Speaker: So it had to be his team.
Speaker: That is so funny.
Speaker: Great, great pick there.
Speaker: I'm going to go with – do you all remember Cardale Jones?
Speaker: He was like the third-string Ohio State quarterback that came in, won that national championship with Ezekiel Elliott, and then all of a sudden you just never – people were asking him if he was going to go to the pros after he played just in the college football playoff.
Speaker: Like everybody thought he was going to go pro.
Speaker: He was like, no, I hadn't proved anything.
Speaker: And he should have went.
Speaker: He should have went and got his bag because I didn't hear nothing about him after that.
Speaker: With my second pick, I'm going to go with DeAnthony Thomas.
Speaker: Do y'all remember that little black guy from Oregon that just ran all over the damn field?
Speaker: Just would juke anybody out of their shoes.
Speaker: I thought that he was going to be an absolute stud in the pros.
Speaker: And I never heard his name after that.
Speaker: I realize I probably shouldn't have said that, but I think we'll be all right.
Speaker: All five of the people that listen, they'd probably just laugh them with us.
Speaker: Might be on that, but give me DeAnthony Thomas with my second overall pick.
Speaker: Oh, great pick, Dane.
Speaker: Give me –
Speaker: Y'all remember, so y'all were a little young, the 2007 Boise State quarterback, Jared Zebranski.
Speaker: It was the freaking, the old Statue of Liberty.
Speaker: It was that guy that tatted up QB that was just had to like played with an edge.
Speaker: Give me Jared Zebranski for my second round pick.
Speaker: Oh, electric.
Speaker: I think this next pick, I couldn't, I was trying to look up guys to be honest.
Speaker: I didn't recognize a single guy's name, but I, I remember this one.
Speaker: Do y'all remember Bo Scarborough, the running back for Alabama?
Speaker: The dude was just an absolute unit and maybe had one of the coolest running back names of all time.
Speaker: So that guy was good.
Speaker: Just came to me.
Speaker: This guy was a freak at Tech and one of the most sneakily athletic guys ever.
Speaker: Do y'all remember Jace Amaro?
Speaker: Amaro, the tight end, the big husky white guy, and he went on to play for the Jets and some other people.
Speaker: He never really took off in the NFL, but he had that one and a half seasons at Tech where he was the freaking man.
Speaker: So, yeah, I'm confident.
Speaker: I feel great with those picks.
Speaker: I want to have a beer.
Speaker: That was awesome.
Speaker: That's a great pick there, Slate.
Speaker: That's a really good one.
Speaker: I like that.
Speaker: So I have a Texas Tech boy here for y'all that I don't even know.
Speaker: I feel like I know who this person is, but we loved him when I was younger.
Speaker: He's like a guy I looked up to.
Speaker: Bront Byrd.
Speaker: The linebacker, I think he was like number 20 maybe or something, and he had the long-ass hair.
Speaker: He was a white linebacker.
Speaker: I don't remember Brontburg.
Speaker: He played for the Chargers for a long time.
Speaker: Anyways, I hope that like David or Roger or somebody knows about that guy.
Speaker: Give me Brontburg.
Speaker: Eric, your age is coming out here because me and Slade, neither one of us know who that guy is.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I'm sure it's a great pick.
Speaker: I'm going to go with – y'all are more than welcome to throw the flag here, and if you don't want this to count, that's fine.
Speaker: I'll do another one.
Speaker: Can I take Tavon Austin out of West Virginia?
Speaker: He was a stud, and he had that highlight tape that everybody would watch.
Speaker: Can I have that one, Slater?
Speaker: If you want to throw the flag, I can pick a different one.
Speaker: I got two more back.
Speaker: I don't think there's any rules to this.
Speaker: I mean, you made up the draft, so I'm going to let you do it.
Speaker: You're exactly right, Slade.
Speaker: I did make up the draft.
Speaker: So I'll take Tavon Austin.
Speaker: He was a stud.
Speaker: He was another one of those little – he was like one of those guys that helped bring the slot receiver into like a real position.
Speaker: I almost said it there.
Speaker: Don't be laughing at me.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: We're going at least one more because I have so many.
Speaker: But I'm going to take Monty Ball.
Speaker: Do you remember the running back out of Wisconsin that was just an absolute stud?
Speaker: He was kind of like one of those Bryce Love guys.
Speaker: He had a few years where he was in the Heisman running, and I never heard of him after his Wisconsin years.
Speaker: Yep.
Speaker: Good pick.
Speaker: I'm going to go for my last one.
Speaker: I had to put an Aggie on there.
Speaker: And this is one that was just like, what the hell happened to that guy?
Speaker: Like, why did he never develop Speedy Noyle?
Speaker: He was the top wide receiver in the 2014 recruiting class.
Speaker: A&M got him and we were ecstatic about it.
Speaker: He thought he was going to be the, I mean, we, we thought he was going to be the goat and that guy came in and he never did anything.
Speaker: I think he got into the,
Speaker: I think he got into drugs, you know.
Speaker: So, anyway, Speedy Noel is my fourth pick.
Speaker: If we're just taking college football athlete names, Speedy Noyle might be the number one overall pick.
Speaker: That's by far the coolest name I've ever heard, Speedy Noyle.
Speaker: For the last pick of this draft, I'm going to take, I think it was Justin Blackman, the wide receiver from Oklahoma State.
Speaker: That dude seemed like he was in college for 10 years, and every single time we'd play him, he'd put up, you know,
Speaker: 10 for 120 and a touchdown.
Speaker: I mean, the dude was just somehow unstoppable and then turned around and did nothing in the NFL.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Slate, that was a great pick.
Speaker: I had him on here, and I really wanted him.
Speaker: But he went to Oklahoma State right after Dez Bryant, and that was when Dez Bryant was right in his prime with the Cowboys.
Speaker: And I thought that he was going to be great in the NFL.
Speaker: If we're done, I would love to give some honorable mentions because I had such a long list.
Speaker: I had Trayvon Boykin, Colin Klein.
Speaker: He's a coach over at A&M, but he was a stud over in Kansas State.
Speaker: He was one of those guys that was around for like 10 years.
Speaker: Braxton Miller, the Ohio State quarterback, Sean Oakman from Baylor, Brandon Whedon, and then Felix Jones from Arkansas, the running back.
Speaker: Those are just some that I just had a list of.
Speaker: It was so much fun.
Speaker: That was a fun draft.
Speaker: Slade, back to you.
Speaker: I can remember legitimately thinking that dad was an idiot because I was just telling him how good Brandon Whedon was going to be in the NFL.
Speaker: I was like, look at how good he was at Oklahoma State.
Speaker: And I was like, dad just doesn't know anything about football.
Speaker: Dad was just like, dude, he's not going to be good in the NFL.
Speaker: Just over and over, he was like, all right, you know what, Slade D'All?
Speaker: Sure, he'll be great and all.
Speaker: And, well...
Speaker: Yeah, another one, another point for old Dave.
Speaker: But anyways, that was a lot of fun.
Speaker: It's moving in.
Speaker: Now it's time to go into our, you know, favorite segment, our way to end it.
Speaker: We've been talking a lot about the blazing wings, but ladies and gentlemen, again, it's still coming down to the wire, baby.
Speaker: It is the Bet the Farm segment.
Speaker: This is sponsored by the Beer Box there in Vega, Texas.
Speaker: Stop there on Main Street.
Speaker: and grab yourself something from the gearbox while you still can.
Speaker: We're still excited to have them as our sponsor, and we're excited that they continue to fuel the good times of Vega.
Speaker: um chadillac took a loss uh but he's this last week but he's sitting there at 13 at 7 um way ahead of the rest of the crew eric took a win last week he's sitting at 10 and 10 he won with dane uh last week on their under pick and dane or dane is also at 9 10 and 1 just a hair above brent's
Speaker: who nailed his Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns over pick.
Speaker: He's sitting there at 9 and 11.
Speaker: I also won, so I'm sitting there at 11 and 9.
Speaker: And so it's all coming down to the wire.
Speaker: There's still a way for me to lose, and then there's still a way for everybody else to lose except for Chadillac.
Speaker: So, Dane, take us away.
Speaker: I have Brent's pick.
Speaker: And for reference, we have been completely honest.
Speaker: I know that I said that I am not going to be fair and honest whenever it comes to who I pick the wing for.
Speaker: But whenever you talk about a whole order of blazing wings, it's got to be fair and honest.
Speaker: So this is all completely honest.
Speaker: Dane, go ahead.
Speaker: All right, Slade.
Speaker: I feel I've been out last week.
Speaker: I was so nervous.
Speaker: I really was.
Speaker: Like, it's kind of getting down to the wire.
Speaker: I'm going to choke it at some point.
Speaker: I know I am, and that's fine with me, but I'm almost positive.
Speaker: I am...
Speaker: I'm almost willing to bet a farm that I'm going to pick the exact same game that Brent is.
Speaker: And Slade, if Brent sent you a text and gave you two options and paid you a little bit of cash to switch it the other way, if I pick the same one, you're going to be a little upset, but I trust you.
Speaker: Chad did not send me a pick.
Speaker: So, Slade, I'll let you make his pick after everybody else does.
Speaker: Just give him somebody random.
Speaker: So, me and Brent are both going to take the Texans and Ravens over –
Speaker: At 43 and a half, Slade's reaction just gave me everything I needed to know.
Speaker: I knew for a fact that this was what Brent was taking.
Speaker: He's been riding that Ravens over all year long.
Speaker: He just did it with the Texans last week.
Speaker: I knew that was what he was taking.
Speaker: Brent, I'm not even letting you swap and go with the under.
Speaker: We're taking the over, baby.
Speaker: We survive one more week.
Speaker: Eric, right to you.
Speaker: I hope I cannot wait for Slade.
Speaker: I'm just going to get mine over with really fast because I just want Slade to tell us what Brent did.
Speaker: But y'all were talking about y'all weren't as high on the 49ers as I am.
Speaker: But I am taking the 49ers to absolutely murder the Packers and get some revenge for my boys.
Speaker: You can't you can surprise.
Speaker: a big dog once can't surprise another big dog again like they've are their deals out it went too perfect for the Packers it was literally everything went right it's not going to happen again this week the 49ers are going to dominate them Jordan loves coming back to reality so I got my bet the farm 49ers minus nine and a half
Speaker: Wow.
Speaker: I don't know if y'all remember Herm Edwards.
Speaker: I don't know if y'all remember his iconic rant where, you know, you play to win the game.
Speaker: Well, Brent, you podcast to win the bet.
Speaker: This is what you have to show up to do because, believe it or not, Brent took the Ravens versus Texans over 43 and a half.
Speaker: Brent...
Speaker: So, I have no words, and I'm sure that you will have plenty for us once you get to this point in the podcast.
Speaker: But you podcast to win the bet, buddy.
Speaker: We miss you.
Speaker: Sorry.
Speaker: Anyways, I am going to go ahead and take the Tampa Bay and – oh, sorry, Eric, what?
Speaker: All I wanted to say is let's make a pact that we're not going to text Brent and we're not going to tell him anything about this until he listens to this podcast on his own.
Speaker: And if he hasn't said anything about it before like Saturday games kick off, I'm just going to text him and be like, and I'm going to mention something about the podcast and make sure he listens because he is going to lose his shit.
Speaker: Like he might spike his phone when he hears that Dane just called him out and picked the same game.
Speaker: Oh, dude, I have him.
Speaker: I knew exactly what he was going to take.
Speaker: And I'm not letting him take the other one.
Speaker: That was my idea last time, and I felt like that was fair.
Speaker: I think it's only fair for me to be able to say he cannot switch his pick to the under.
Speaker: Is that fair?
Speaker: And, you know...
Speaker: I don't know what the Taylor Swift song is.
Speaker: Karma is a bitch.
Speaker: Maybe show up to the podcast.
Speaker: It's something like that.
Speaker: But karma sucks, and it reared its ugly head this week.
Speaker: And so it's just tough, and it's going to be a rough week, and it's going to be a really rough listen for Brenton's.
Speaker: Dude, the thing that's so great about this is now it all comes down to one week.
Speaker: One week there can't be any ties because Brent would have to push to be able to tie me.
Speaker: And we can't push on this because it's a half.
Speaker: We have the same one.
Speaker: So it's all coming down to next week.
Speaker: But here's something you got to think about too, Dane.
Speaker: If I lose my bet, it comes down to all three of us and y'all win yours.
Speaker: So that also puts extra pressure on my bets.
Speaker: Got to hit and I'll be in the clear because if I lose and y'all hit that, it comes down to the last thing and we all have the exact same record except for you have that stupid half a point push.
Speaker: Oh man, Jordan Love Legacy game incoming.
Speaker: So if that's the case, if, say, Brent and Eric tie at the bottom, do both Roarback brothers have to eat a set of blazing wings?
Speaker: No.
Speaker: We make Joe and Anna pick their favorite.
Speaker: Yep.
Speaker: And then I choose which one gets an additional wing.
Speaker: We'll see who I have to fill in that week.
Speaker: Oh, man.
Speaker: Well...
Speaker: We live and we fight on for one final week.
Speaker: I'm not feeling too pressured over here because I'm pretty confident at least one of these guys is going to lose at some point.
Speaker: So I am very confident in this bet, however.
Speaker: Give me the Tampa Bay and Detroit under.
Speaker: It's set at 48 and a half.
Speaker: That is crazy high to me because Tampa Bay stacks the box.
Speaker: And the one thing they do real well on defense is, one, bring a lot of pressure, which Jared Goff does do well with.
Speaker: And they load the box like a mofo.
Speaker: And they're going to make it really hard for Detroit to run the football.
Speaker: They already – Detroit already doesn't just light it up consistently.
Speaker: They're a great offense and whatnot.
Speaker: But I think this offense in this game will stall out.
Speaker: No way it will reach 48.5.
Speaker: So hammer the shit out of that under.
Speaker: Chad Lack is going to go ahead and take – I'm just going to – Dane, give me a number one through four.
Speaker: Three.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: He's going to take the Packers to cover nine points, and that's going to be his Bet the Farm block of the week.
Speaker: Well, ladies and gents, here we go.
Speaker: It is time to close us out, and even though we talked a lot of shit on Brent, we love you, and we love your bangers of the week more than anything.
Speaker: we're happy that y'all get to be here with us.
Speaker: We're happy that we're, you know, closing this thing off in the right way.
Speaker: We're one week closer to the blazing wings.
Speaker: We're one week closer to all being back a little bit closer together, but while we're away and while we're apart, take a listen to Brent's banger of the week.
Speaker: It is this week.
Speaker: It is higher by the band creed.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: When dreaming, I got it too, with all the world, time and time again.
Speaker: It's alright if I just leave, cause I don't want to leave the comfort of this place.
Speaker: Cause there's a hunger long to escape from the life I live when I'm away.
Speaker: So let's go there.
Speaker: Let's make our escape.
Speaker: Come on, let's go there.
Speaker: Let's just can we stay.
Speaker: Can you take me higher?
Speaker: It helps me to appreciate those nights and those dreams.
Speaker: But my friend, I'd sacrifice all those nights if I could make the earth and my dreams the same.
Speaker: The only difference is to let love replace all our hate.
Speaker: So let's go there.
Speaker: Let's make our escape.
Speaker: Come on, let's go there.
Speaker: Let's ask them to stay.
Speaker: Can you take me higher?
Speaker: To a place where I might see.
Speaker: Can you take me higher?
Speaker: to the place we're falling straight so it's going
Speaker: oh
Speaker: I'm strong and wrong.
Speaker: So take these dreams and make them mine.
Speaker: Oh, oh, oh, oh.
