Introduction to Dana from Mediquip

Hi, I'm here with Dana from Mediquip. Thank you, Jane. It's a pleasure to be here. It would be great if you could tell us how you got into simulation. Well, absolutely. Thank you. So um I've been in simulation. let me count. I hope I don't look that old.
00:00:28
Speaker
I've been in simulation for over 20 years now.
Passion for Education and Simulation
00:00:31
Speaker
Coming from Malaysia, i've always worked in the simulation industry. And what I really find amazing about simulation is the people that I work with.
00:00:39
Speaker
Education is a sector that I absolutely love and the people that we work with is just so beautiful. the amount of teaching and learning that we get from the people we work with is something that that it's a big thing to ask for and I'm so blessed that I've met these people.
00:00:53
Speaker
And coming from Malaysia and moving to Australia, the experience just enhanced because people are just not...
Technological Evolution and Future Predictions
00:00:59
Speaker
um They're always so happy to teach you and I've learned so much in this journey.
00:01:04
Speaker
And in Australia, I've been in simulation for over 12 years now, and the amount of learning that's happened in these 12 years, mind-blowing. So absolutely love the people. And of course, the technologies that we work with in these 12 years, I've actually seen how it has grown.
00:01:19
Speaker
Things like that started simple has gone into AI now because everyone's getting into the AI train and how simulation and AI it's going along really beautifully which is amazing to see so the growth the people the products the technology is what makes me really want to keep going with simulation and always stay in this space thank you that's fantastic and and you've answered some of my questions was going to say what what are um what are the differences that you've seen in yeah those those years but also yeah can you tell me what you think In five years time, yeah can you predict what we'll be doing in simulation?
Vision for Hybrid Simulation Models
00:01:55
Speaker
Well, I think everything is going digital.
00:01:59
Speaker
I don't know if 100% happy about that because I am a little bit into haptics and conventional where one the face to face, I want to be able to have that interaction. So I want a combination of both.
00:02:10
Speaker
I hope it doesn't just get 100% digital. I just feel if there's a mix, it will be amazing. So in five years time, I do see there's going to be a lot of room for digital spaces, virtual reality, augmented reality, AI integration with all of that as well.
00:02:26
Speaker
But as I said, I hope there's going to be a big mix and and a hybrid solution in terms of what I've just said, if that's making any sense.
Recommended Tools for Simulation
00:02:33
Speaker
and great Yeah, great. So if someone was new to simulation, yeah what's the one product that you think they couldn't do without?
00:02:43
Speaker
That's a big question. i know. One product that they can't Okay, you can have two products. Two products? Okay. um Well, you need...
00:02:56
Speaker
a mannequin of any sort. No, a live cast I think. Yeah, definitely. Well, live cast mannequins are amazing because they just so look and feel real and it sort of transmits the right amount of knowledge and patient handling sort of um encounter that you have with the patient because you want to be able to work with something that looks and feels real. So you really want to be able to treat that mannequin like a real person. So I think LifeCast is amazing as doing that.
00:03:26
Speaker
So yes, we do need a mannequin because you still need um something to work with so you would be able to actually transfer that knowledge across. um and The other product would be something in the digital space, I have to say. um And something that I feel that is quite good at this stage is a technology where you would be able to, like a medical record system.
00:03:50
Speaker
So something that sort of works along with um a mannequin and a record system that combines this package it would be amazing because I see that a future for that. a Fantastic.
00:04:01
Speaker
Thank you so much. Thanks. Wonderful. Thank you. I hope that was okay.
