Speaker: You are listening to the Inverted Creative Podcast. I'm Allison. I'm Jen. I'm Brian. I'm Mikhail. And I'm Nate.

Speaker: So I have a ah philosophical question to start this episode, and Jen is going to be very clueless because she didn't actually do the podcast homework for this episode. No. Is it better to be smart or lucky?

Speaker: Hmm. i don't know. She can still answer that question. Well, now I know, but she doesn't get the reference. Right, Jen? Yeah. ah yeah and Jen, who is already playing on her phone because she didn't watch the movie.

Speaker: I'm just here for the vibes, guys. i here for the entertainment. She's deep in thought. I'm deep in thought on my Instagram.

Speaker: Is it better to be smart or lucky? i think smart. How lucky are we talking? That's the question. See, I was going to say smart because you can always fall back on that. If you're only lucky, like might not always.

Speaker: Isn't there isn't there some I don't know if there's a superhero or there's somebody in literature somewhere where he's literally just always lucky. And like he looks into everything. And so like, I can't remember what that's from.

Speaker: Well, so in Marvel, there is a ah superhero named Domino and she, her entire superhero, like her power is just being lucky. But at the same time, that's kind of the only example of the time I had. And there's a lot of superheroes whose superpower is being smart.

Speaker: Yeah. So I think I go smart. Yeah. I, I, ah You're not lucky enough, I don't think. like I don't think you can ever be lucky enough to out luck being smart.

Speaker: Yeah. And that's my smart response. You lucked into that one. No, I didn't.

Speaker: Listen, although you could be set for life if you're lucky, you just enter a lottery and then win the big one and then you're good. You just need to be lucky very temporarily, but then it's better to be smart.

Speaker: You could be lucky once and be okay. That's true. Yeah. it does It also doesn't say that if you're lucky, you're automatically stupid. it's just yeah You're just not like the smartest, necessarily. And it doesn't say that if you're smart, you're never going to have good luck.

Speaker: That, too. Yeah.

Speaker: Wise words from from ah Woody Harrelson. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. i don't know if I'm... I don't know how lucky I am, usually. i can't i can't i can't put a figure to it, honestly.

Speaker: feel like I get lucky sometimes. I don't know. I am not a very lucky person. Hmm.

Speaker: Being smart's better. i just work too much. That's my issue. I don't have time to be i don't know if that affects luck or smarts, but... I just don't have time to... Try to be lucky. i don't know.

Speaker: I will say in high school, I won a drawing for a guitar and for this headset that I'm wearing right now within like two years of each other. So I was a little bit lucky. Bro, you might need a new headset.

Speaker: No, this dude, this thing is awesome. I will die on the hill if this is like the best headset ever. i had one before from... sorry If I had won a headset in high school, I don't even think it would be compatible with any current technology.

Speaker: it does It does say it's like a splitter so I can have it on the plate on the like PC and on like a console. And it does say PS4 on it, but it still works perfectly. I also need you to know that you just called yourself out for being old. like Typically, I feel like the young people call...

Speaker: Yeah. i ain't mad at it. this This is the best headset I've ever owned. like just like It's so comfortable. It's so nice. don't know if it shows up on camera, but there is peppered in white and gray in here. Okay. I just turned 30 and I have a ton of gray hair, so you can't use that.

Speaker: I don't have gray hair. I'm just losing hair. I only know I have gray hair when Mike pulls him out ceremoniously in front of me. Oh my God. My like sides, like I'm my blonde is, it's way better when I'm blonde, but like my sides on the side of my head at this point are just like silver.

Speaker: Like we we're, we're, but some of the smartest people have that hair. Dr. Strange, Reed Richards, you know, they got that gray on the side. Yeah. Smart people. See, I brought it back.

Speaker: I brought it from lucky to smart. Show me one lucky person that has gray and white hair. I couldn't. Okay, Domino does have... Okay.

Speaker: Well, to get into the podcast topic a little more, first of all, we obviously have a special guest with us today. Jen, who's finally back from... here and Thanks, Jen. Yeah, Tim's probably been here more than me.

Speaker: No. Long time listener, first time caller. First time appearance. yeah Yeah. No, we are excited to have our friend Tim here. Do you want to shout out your podcast and why having you on here today is relevant?

Speaker: Of course. Since you have your own podcast, too. So so as Allison mentioned, long-time listener since I would call myself a day one, even. And yeah so I have a movie podcast called Popcorn and Pints where me and my friend Tom have a few cocktails and talk movies. And I'm lucky enough to get by here because we're talking about a movie.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. It is... This episode will be the last episode that technically drops before Halloween, but we're doing one more spooky episode that's going to drop two days after.

Speaker: because close enough. That's Christmas season. I did the poll on Instagram and more people voted to have more content than have it right after Halloween. So darn it.

Speaker: That is Christmas season. Our listeners are getting their content. Do we? it's know It's like a finale. it's like a finale It's like finalizing it.

Speaker: a year in review, post-mortem, and then you're in Christmas season, I guess, but, know. Listen, theme parks still do Fright Fest on November 1st, which they do, then, like, you're good.

Speaker: And also, Christmas season does not happen until after Thanksgiving. No. Thanksgiving's just pre-Christmas. Can we kick him out, like, Allison, from your side?

Speaker: Yes, but no. He's gone. theory, yes, but in practice, no. Yeah, Jen back with firing people again. God, nobody's allowed on this podcast. No one's allowed on this podcast. You all make me mad. Are you gatekeeping this podcast from me?

Speaker: She's fired everybody some Except for Allison. Allison, I we need her too much. Yeah, if you fired me, who could oppose this? fired Allison, too, at one point. but you probably did.

Speaker: I'm pretty sure. I can say how much I love Voyage. Yeah. You can bait me and I'll fire you. I'm sure. That one I've already got all my frustrations out. If I want her to go like off the rails, it's wait till she finds out I've never ridden Talon.

Speaker: That's insane. i've actually never No, it's not. Because that's a grown-a-land. I've actually never stepped foot in the state of Pennsylvania. That is, that's kind of surprising. I think so. Yeah.

Speaker: There's so many good coasters here. Why? i believe that actually. And trust me, it's like high on the list. like I really want to go to Hershey, but I, I don't know. that Did you guys know that Pennsylvania actually has two cities? Pittsburgh and Philadelphia? i do Somebody please catch the reference. It has more than one city. but yeah oh that No, it's right it's from Always Sunny in Philadelphia. But if you're in Pittsburgh, you're in Philadelphia?

Speaker: I've only seen this clip, but he's like, did you guys know that there's more than just Philadelphia and Pennsylvania and they're both like Yes. He's like, but how is that possible? but he's like, but yeah, but what what's Pittsburgh? Like, is that Philadelphia?

Speaker: No. We don't associate the Philadelphia people. Don't associate with the Pittsburgh. He just thought that Philadelphia was Pennsylvania. So, yeah, it's funny.

Speaker: need to watch that show, like actually watch that show. That show is actually really good. It's just been so long since I've watched it. It's crazy that it's been on for as many seasons as it has. I just found out it's still on. like I didn't realize it was still being made. 20-something seasons.

Speaker: Oh, wow. Seriously? Yeah. I've never seen one episode, so. My brother, this is kind of doxing my brother's location. um My brother's apartment is literally, like, in the street of Patty's Pub.

Speaker: Oh. Like, the actual Patty's Pub. Wow. pretty That's cool. Yeah. yeah Do you guys want to go to Patty's Pub? Yeah, I do. I just want to go to your brother's house. Or that, yeah. Well, I just stopped at the location. Our tens of listeners will know where to go. Yeah, guys, just look for all the Legos around Patty's Pub.

Speaker: Oh, I got a Lego. ree She's also got a really special dog. She's actually at my house right now, but she has like neurological issues, so she only she walks in circles all the time. She only walks in counterclockwise circles her whole entire life. Oh, she's like a Zoolander, can't turn left.

Speaker: Yeah, literally. she like Except she only turns left all the time. The closest thing I have to a Lego is a nano coaster of the best B&M hyper. That's not Mako.

Speaker: You're right. It's not Candemonium. It's not Mako. You're correct. That's the second best. Well, you've never written Candemonium, so you're not allowed to really have a say in my If we're showing off Lego, I have the little like mini Millennium Force train.

Speaker: Did you have like just get like the plans for that and then build it yourself? like buying No, this is one of the ones that you can buy at the park. They're not real Legos. It's an off-brand. There's also a trailing car. that It was buy one, get one.

Speaker: um I just have not assembled the trailing car yet. That's pretty cool. I just rode that ride again. It was a good time. I will probably ride it tomorrow or Saturday. I just built the Seattle Space Needle this week.

Speaker: Because i I went there. love the strategy lego set I've jumped off the strat. um This is actually discontinued. So I bought it off eBay and it was missing one piece, which is sad, but that's okay.

Speaker: I also have a ah an Ultra Ball Lego. I love that we're showing off Legos. It's just what I happen to have my desk next to me. have a very odd assortment of things on my desk. have a named Steve.

Speaker: Ah, the like what? Fourth best RMC in the United States? I have it as two. Or like the fourth best ride at Cedar Point. i i mean I have it at... Honestly, you're not far off. I have it at three, but it i the argument can be made for four.

Speaker: Yeah. i was thinking maybe five. And then I have my medal right here. yeah Which actually, I can transition that into our little trip recap section. yeah I know Jen has like A lot to talk about that hopefully we can get through quickly. I did a trip to Detroit where I did absolutely no roller coasters.

Speaker: We talked about going to CJ Barrymore's, but then didn't. They're getting a new ride next year, so just wait. I've been on that one, though. That's true. that was a your shetti bowl The spaghetti bowl one? Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, I've been on those because they're the ones from Georgia. was going to say, is that confirmed which one they're getting? I believe so. Okay. I've seen those two. would have gotten plus but... But yeah, we ended up not going up to CJ Barrymore's and instead just chilled in Detroit.

Speaker: We did go to Mom's Spaghetti. Nice. Mom's Spaghetti? The place owned by M&M. Yeah, the place owned by M&M. That's pretty great that he has it. Momming on a sweater already, Mom's Spaghetti. I can straight up send you a picture. Yeah, it's and and you literally order it in an alleyway.

Speaker: How was it? It was fine. it was It was nothing like amazing. It's meant to be kind of like literally taste like Mom's Spaghetti, like homemade. Is it like fast casual, would you say?

Speaker: ah Well, you order it in an alley and they give it to you in like Chinese takeout containers. That's pretty sweet. Oh, yeah. i was Mike wanted to go and I was car bloating because then I did a half marathon with almost zero training, but it went into Canada, which is really cool. Sweet.

Speaker: you ah Did you have to have your passport with you? Yes. Wow. Yep. Had to have my passport on me at all times. There were so many border patrol agents when we were because we went over the bridge and then through like Windsor and then back through the tunnel. um Yeah. And there were border patrol everywhere.

Speaker: Makes sense. And I high fived a couple. Nice. so Is that your whole trip recap? Did we do anything else? I just didn't want to interrupt you if you weren't done.

Speaker: I'm trying to think if we did. um we We tried to go to a hockey game, but tickets weren't working out. So we just walked like two miles through Detroit and then I slept. We really didn't do anything ridiculous. you't You didn't do the full eight mile?

Speaker: yeah who I did more than that. All right. I have a small trip recap from last weekend too. Um, I went down to Louisville, met up with our friend, John Mike and John Mike and I went to Harrodsburg, Kentucky and rode happy B. I forgot that y'all. Um, yeah. Uh, happy B was, is my one and only credit in October this month. I'm 10 for 10 though. And I'm going for all 12. So we'll see if I get November, and December. um,

Speaker: That thing ah was one of the top five scariest roller coaster rides I've ever been on because the track was warped. It was rusted. It was pulling apart. The train, like the wheel bogeys were just hanging off.

Speaker: um You can see a clear difference from two years ago when the ride opened to now with the train and the like how it looks. It's clearly not been maintained at all. Okay.

Speaker: And yeah, it was sketchy. And I will be surprised if it's open next year because they do no winterization. They do no protection of the ride. They don't do any maintenance on it, clearly. The fact that it's still running right now, it almost valid a couple times, um is impressive. So...

Speaker: We'll see how long Happy B is still here. It's a Chinese kiddie coaster model. There was one up by you, Tim, near Great America. The one and a People's Choice. Yeah, People's Choice. It's gone. that's Oh, this was the the liminal space coaster, the backrooms one? Yeah, so they're the same model. as That's the same model as Happy B. So it just two two helixes, really nothing fancy, but...

Speaker: We'll see if that lasts. Then we went to Kentucky Kingdom, but we'll be probably talking about that later. Yeah. So, yeah, that was fun. Happy B was also the origin of our group chat. Right. Yeah. And we updated the picture because the picture original picture was two years ago when the train was nice and new and pretty. And now it's like sun faded and chipped. And part of like the Happy B's eye is like chipped off.

Speaker: It's just two years and two years. Well, yeah. So if they've gotten any hail storms throughout the summer or like snow or stuff in the winter, because they only run it September, October.

Speaker: And then the rest of the year, they don't cover it. They don't protect it. They don't do maintenance on it. They just let it sit there. So, yeah. Yeah, our group chat is literally like the photo is the happy bee. Yeah. brain face And then that's the new picture where his eyes have. That's why we kept ours in the back rooms, dude.

Speaker: There's no way yeah in the back room. That one didn't survive either, though. That was only there for like two years yeah or three. Anyway, that was my trip recap. It was fun. I'm glad you got the right Happy Me.

Speaker: I'm sorry I couldn't go. I got to try Atrium Brewing, which is like John Mike's home brewery. It was really good. It is very had this like... um It was an apple cider donut drink.

Speaker: that is That was the one of the best drinks I've ever had. that was just It was so good. It was so sweet. You couldn't tell there was alcohol in it. was dangerous. um I don't remember what the percentage was. think like six or something. So it wasn't like...

Speaker: Super high, but it was on the higher end. I guess it's right in the middle. Probably um I don't know my percentages and beers to be honest with but it was like a sour. It was really good.

Speaker: Loved that their Coles was good too. And yeah, yeah, I gave it a four and a half on untapped. Wow. Yeah. I don't, I don't get, I'm, if you look at my untap score, there's like a really high peak at 3.5. And then.

Speaker: So there's not there there. Yeah. But it's a, I've got like a perfectly shaped bell curve. Cause I put so many at three and a half. um It's a really high peak. So getting a four and a half for me is impressive.

Speaker: Anyway. Anyway. Jen, you got redemption. I got redemption. Yeah. Do I jump right in with starting with that one or do I save for the end? Up to you. It's your i'll say for a recap of three weeks. It's the most exciting. Yeah, but three weeks, but I didn't really go to any theme parks. I only went to you'll do a few.

Speaker: I went to three theme parks. Yeah. I didn't go anywhere crazy. um Starting, I went to Efteling because of course I went to the Netherlands. I had to go to Efteling. So I went to Efteling twice actually.

Speaker: Dance Macabre was closed. It had broke down earlier that week and it was closed both days. So I did not get to ride Dance Macabre. However, I've ridden that thing like six or seven times.

Speaker: I was glad. I almost was like, I almost messaged you, Jen, and I was like, can you ride Dance Macabre for me? what ah there was a really She was quick on the mute there. That was smart. Yeah, that was that was impressive. um That's like the one dark ride I've heard about and I've heard about it a lot at... It is like one of the most amazing dark rides I've ever experienced. like i Yeah, I almost messaged you and i was like, can you ride that for me? And then wouldn't have been able to, so that would have been sad. um It was unfortunately down. That's a bummer.

Speaker: And the park was like, crazy busy like to a level that I don't think that I would have even imagined it could have gotten to like it was really busy um so between the two days we didn't ride much like since recovery was down um we did ride vocal rock um the new like drop tower rides um whole they have new drop tower ads Yeah, but they're like little. but they They fit in all the bearing theming. They're so cute.

Speaker: So they're like a chute and like, but they're a little. Like they're just cute little kitty brides almost. I rode half of Yoris and the Drac.

Speaker: I rode Symbolica, Flickender Hollander. Which half? Water or fire?

Speaker: don't know. Okay, one of them. I went to single rider, so whichever one they put me no I don't remember which one. um But the line was like a 45 minute wait and single rider looked like it was gonna be nothing, which it was. It was like 10 minutes in single rider. So we were like, yeah, we're all gonna single rider it.

Speaker: Can you guys hear Ahsoka yapping? Oh yeah. She loves Efteling.

Speaker: my gosh.

Speaker: I don't know I should keep going. Is it that Yeah, it's fine. I think. Okay. um What else? so I didn't get on drumblocked the whole entire time I was there.

Speaker: Jen, or Ahsoka, things to say about that. I think she wants to come back down. Guys, I'm so sorry. I tried to lock my dog out. I think she's just correcting her pronunciation.

Speaker: Yeah. Ahsoka's like, your is terrible. your touch

Speaker: She, I tried to put her upstairs because I thought that's what she wanted and apparently she wasn't. So she was just screaming like under the door. So I would cut letter it out.

Speaker: Um, I think I did Villa Volta. Oh, that's a good one. Python. Pagoda. Oh, I did Piranha, which is their, um, Rapids ride.

Speaker: I never did that before. It was cute. The song was really fun. And then Phantom Organa. I think that was it. Oh, and I did their... They have a show that I did as well. I don't know what the show was called.

Speaker: Magic the Luna, maybe? It was like a... Almost like a circus-y show, but it felt more like stage-y.

Speaker: performance. I don't know. It was very interesting. And then I just, because it was so busy, I just spent like the whole day in the, in the Sproky's bus. That does not shock me in the least, by Yeah. No, I was like, it's too busy for this. Um, I'm okay just walking through Sproky's bus and,

Speaker: enjoying it. And that's what I did for, I think, half of the day. And Jen, I know what that is, but for those of the listeners that don't, what is that? So every time we talk about Efteling, I have to explain this.

Speaker: In my mind, it doesn't even cross my mind that these aren't the English names for it, because I've only been to Efteling with Dutch people. So like, I... I've never looked at an English map for it, and I've never looked at the English website. So I have no idea what actually has English names and what doesn't. But I'm going to assume, based on your question, that the fairy tale forest does indeed have an English name.

Speaker: Okay, it's the fairy tale forest. Okay, I've heard of Okay, yes. i mean Again, I knew, but this is this was for the listeners that were unfamiliar. Yeah, right, right. yeah Sure, yeah. Yeah, I've only been to Efteling with people who speak Dutch, so I don't know any of the English names. You guys are lucky you got Python out of me instead of Pitan.

Speaker: I think that one we might have been able to piece together. Pitan. Python, yeah. Pitan. It makes me giggle. Pitan. I think that's all I did, though. Efteling was kind of crazy. So I almost got evacs from Symbolica again.

Speaker: I like that in again. Yeah, because I got evac'd from Symbolica in last September. And this year, we didn't get evac'd, but do have a little bit of a gripe with Efteling. I think this is going shock everyone. I have a gripe with Efteling. my gosh.

Speaker: Efteling is so stingy with their VIP passes. So like we got stuck on Symbolica for 15 minutes. Lights on, stuck in the vehicle, people are walking all around. Like we're there for a pretty long time. We waited like 45 minutes for this ride.

Speaker: We are stuck like about halfway through the ride.

Speaker: They try to start the ride and we make it like one block zone next and then they stop the ride again. Stuck another like five minutes. Then they like, I think that they could advance the vehicles in like sets of three. So then they like manually advanced the vehicles until they got us to the end. So all of the, like the lights were on and like the effects were working, but like lights were on, not full experience at all.

Speaker: And there was no one at the exit to like apologize, no one to give out VIP tickets, no one to anything. So it was like, we wait, we ended up waiting like an hour on Symbolica to be stuck on the ride for like,

Speaker: 20 minutes and them just do nothing. That's wild. Yeah. So it's like I like I've been on it enough that I didn't really care but I was like if this is my first time riding Symbolic I would have been really mad I waited for an hour to not really get the whole experience and then not have any type of like hey sorry here's something to skip the line.

Speaker: Can i ask a dumb question? Yeah. What kind of ride is Symbolica? Cause I actually don't know. Trackless dark ride. Okay. Yeah. It's a trackless dark ride. Gotcha. Gotcha. Okay. I'm trying to think of a ride to compare it to.

Speaker: Ratatouille. Yeah. I was going say Ratatouille, but like less fast paced for most of it. Yeah. It's not really fast paced at all. It's pretty slow, but it's the same style vehicle, like that round trackless vehicle.

Speaker: But wait, Alison, have you ridden Ratatouille? Yes, I think so. Okay, then we're good. Yeah. Also, no glasses. Because Ratatouille used to have glasses. I think I did Ratatouille.

Speaker: Yeah, well, that's the vehicle. But yeah, that's my gripe with Efteling. It might be my only gripe you guys ever get with Efteling. But good I was like, what do you mean we don't get a VIP return time? like we waited we We just wasted like an hour and a half here.

Speaker: um I've never been to Efteling, so I have no gripes with it yet. I've been there. I have no gripes currently. I also have my second gripe.

Speaker: What? Like purple grapes. great Green grapes aren't quite as good, but the cotton candy grapes are are pretty solid, though. Okay, I thought I heard you correctly.

Speaker: um I do have a second gripe with Efteling, actually. Second gripe. Stow it's Symbolica. Symbolica is the downfall of Efteling. No, I'm kidding. It's like my favorite, but...

Speaker: There's this whale animatronic that almost never works and they fixed it at the beginning of the season and it worked for like a month and it's it's been broken ever since. I would sell my soul to see this stupid whale working.

Speaker: Disney Yeti. It's literally the Disney Yeti to me, but honestly, I think it might be more impactful than the Yeti to me. You probably, but I don't remember the whale necessarily on Cymbalica, but you definitely go by it a lot slower than you go by Yeti on Everest. Yeah, so like, and the whale is just like down and he doesn't work anymore, but like in its prime, that whale dove down. from above. wow. Okay. Yeah, but he he broke and they fixed him this year in the off season, but he only worked for like a month and then he broke again. And apparently because of where the animatronic is, it's like almost like not almost impossible, but it's really hard for them to take it out.

Speaker: So it's just like the Yeti. So it's just like the Yeti, except I feel like it's more impactful because you are. You're in that scene for a while and you're watching this whale do its thing, but the whale's doing nothing because he's broken.

Speaker: The Yeti, you can't tell the difference. Oh, so it's like, yeah. So it's the helicopter on the stunt coaster. Yeah. Yeah, kind of, yes yeah. You stop there, nothing happens, and then you go i've seen but I've seen both the blades and the machine guns work at the same time before.

Speaker: I've seen the machine guns with none of the blades at King's Island.

Speaker: Canada's Wonderland and King's Dominion did not work for me. Yeah. Okay, that's my that's the end of my Efteling because we got to keep moving. yeah I'll be much quicker Slachera. I'm in Slachera, which is also in the Netherlands.

Speaker: um They have a Gertzlauer? a um Mystic, right? Or is that right? no No, that's Rhone Alps, isn't it? That's Rhone Alps. It's called something else. Oh, Gold Rush.

Speaker: Yeah, um Rush. I was really, really impressed with this. Like, I feel like as an American going and riding some of these European Gertzlauer's, they always really impressed me. um I thought it was really fun. It's just like a cute little shuttle coaster, but this is like the tiniest little park ever. So it fit in really well.

Speaker: um And their theming is like nine out of 10. For a tiny park, it's really, really good. It's themed to Texas. And their mascot, their mascot, our brother and sister, Texas raccoons.

Speaker: cut that Kind of sounds like Cotaland. Well, that's a that's a skunk, isn't it? I so i don't know. I question a lot of things about that park, to be fair. yeah So I did Gold Rush, and then also they have they have a lot of flat rides, so we did some of those, and they have a kiddie ride, which it's it's fine. But also, um they have a Halloween event. I was really impressed for such a tiny park. They had three pretty good haunted houses.

Speaker: um And then scare zones and stuff. the I was really impressed. I thought it was really good. Really well done. I was not expecting it to be that good. um That's kind of it with Saifera.

Speaker: We'll hear more about that next week. Yeah. um And then the redemption, which you I don't have to go too far into this because I've done a recap really on this park. um But I finally went back to Fantasia land and I rode fly. ya Yay.

Speaker: Finally. Congratulations. Thanks. I'm so excited. i could not even process what was happening me to me. I still could not. even pretend to process how we get from that sitting position into the flying position.

Speaker: yeah Like, no clue. I got to ride it front row. um Hell yeah. that's yeah best not or Tim, have you been to Phantasy Land?

Speaker: No. Oh, man. we need to avoid spoilers? i would his I don't usually care about spoilers, but when it comes to Phantasy Land and specifically Fly, because of how well kept the secret of that ride is, like i don't I do want the secret to remain.

Speaker: Okay. I'm not going to talk about anything else other than just the transition. got to write it. um i don't think like We're not going to go into anything else. Okay. Yeah, and then I wrote everything else. that Oh, I wrote Chappas for the first time.

Speaker: Yay. That's the water ride? Yeah. Very wet ride. So my friend was like, no, you have to do it. You've never done it before. You have to do it. and I would have said same thing. It's really cold. i don't want to be all wet and cold. like I'll be fine. And he's like, if we fill the boat two to three people, it's fine. We won't get wet. I was soaked. So.

Speaker: I was like, dude, come on. like I was like in my rain jacket. like I was soaking wet. um But it was worth it for the song.

Speaker: Yeah, it was. um We gotta get Jenna. What's that? When I rode it, it was like 83 degrees. so The water ride at Blackpool.

Speaker: I did not do that when we were there. yeah that I didn't do it either. I didn't want to get wet. Yeah, i it was like the first cold day, maybe the second cold day while I was in the Netherlands. Like it was beautiful there, which is not normal. It was like warm and gorgeous, but those last two days was really cold. And then I was soaking wet. I was like, well, a little miserable, but yeah, everything else at Fantasia land, i did everything else.

Speaker: We've all known my opinions on everything else. I just had to get back to go to fly. so So you got to ride Taryn at Dorney park. Taron and Doherty Park? Yes, and I did. I got to ride that place, I think, too. And you did not take your glasses on crazy bats, right?

Speaker: So, actually, yes, I did. Bro. Glasses redemption. However, I rode without the VR set. Oh, okay. Well, that's almost... That's more valid. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, I rode without the VR headset because the VR headset, like, one, the VR headset stole my glasses.

Speaker: Yeah. So we've heard...

Speaker: The VR was like wasn't really interesting to me, so I was like, if i don't really want it. No, it was kind of silly. Yeah, I was like, I'm fine. I'll just ride this coaster. um i absolutely I wouldn't know.

Speaker: I had to ride it with a guy with a guy I had met that day. he was his he lives in Florida. um But we had like just randomly met at Fantasialand.

Speaker: And because my two friends that were with me on this European trip were like, no, don't want ride Crazy Batts. i And i was like, is it that bad? And they were like, yeah. I'm like, okay. So I wrote it with this guy I had just met who hadn't written it either from Florida who happened to be in Germany when we were.

Speaker: We wrote it and we both got off. We like, I don't know why they skipped that. it We waited like 15 minutes and it was not that bad. Oh, we waited well more than 15 minutes. Yeah. was unfortunate. But I don't know if I would wait more than like 15 or 20 minutes. they were also I probably wouldn't either, but I've written it, so... Yeah, they were busy enough that the AI, the ai the VR headsets. um Same thing. Yeah, exactly. The VR headsets, like, they couldn't clean them quick enough to get the trains out. So literally our train, even with four of us who chose not to wear the VR headset, our train was half empty because they didn't have enough yeah VR headsets. Wow.

Speaker: It was like, I was like, what's the, like. Yeah, just at that point, just get just don't use them. Yeah, I was like, what is this? But the ride is just in pitch black. Like, without the VR headset. But we had fun. It was really fun to sit towards the back without the VR headset and watch as all of the headsets went out of sync one by one and started blinking red instead of green and then people were slowly taking them off. ah It was really exciting. were really entertained.

Speaker: One day I'll ride Crazy Batts. Yeah, I hope your VR headset doesn't break like everyone on my train. Or I can ignore the VR headset part of it. Yeah, that too. um Yeah, that's it, I guess, for my trip recap.

Speaker: It really was just I finally rode Fly and I rode Chappas. But that's exciting. That's good. And I had Fantasialand Mexican food because I was like, of course I want to try Mexican food in Germany. And it was just as bad as I would have expected.

Speaker: ah It tasted good, but it wasn't Mexican food. Right. Like, I was like, I want to try Mexican food in Germany.

Speaker: mean, like Italian food in Germany is good, but yeah, I can see why Mexican would be. Well, they're a little far from Mexico. Well, but yeah, I mean, yeah. Yeah, that's like us going to like a German restaurant in the middle of the US where the German food is like never good German food ever.

Speaker: It's like good German food in Cincinnati, though. But I guess we kind of have like a connection to Germany. I've been to a German restaurant in the middle of nowhere, in Indiana, and it was pretty good. and That's Jasper. That's, that's, that's schnitzel bonk. That, that is legit. They are a legit German family. You can find like one or two restaurants, but it's not like the Mexican places where you here, where you can go like literally on the same block. You could have like 16 fantastic Mexican restaurants. Like it's hard to find one that sucks in America. Yeah.

Speaker: um Yeah, it's called Taco Bell. There you go Jen. we can When we go ride Voyage, when when you come to ride Voyage, we can go to Schnitzelbach. Yeah, because it's like 30 minutes up the road, if that. It's actually really good.

Speaker: I think they do. I think so. i haven't been there in years. only want potato pancakes. And schnitzel. I want to go too. Oh yeah, you're welcome. Let me know when this is happening. it's all so Well, I'm not writing Voyage anytime soon. so Well, I'm going to make it happen.

Speaker: I'm going to bring Jen out to Voyage. So I'll just let you know when I decide that I'm going to make her come out and write it. I'll just show up. yeah We all kind of tend to do. yeah Yeah, you do tend to do that at Holiday World.

Speaker: Yeah, that's true. I wasn't even thinking about that. i was thinking about Jen and Bryant just like randomly showing up in different countries. using and I guess John Mike is now a part of that. so yeahp Yeah. brought the jake to Poland.

Speaker: We did. Well, you did. I did, yeah. I had nothing to do with it. That was the point. Yeah. Tim, have you been to any parks recently? I know we're literally 40 minutes in and have not actually gotten to the topic of our episode. Yeah. I mean, I'm going to take two. You know, Nate, who is a friend to at least some of us, ah is in was in town for a conference this week. And so I picked him up from the airport and we went to Great America.

Speaker: And ah we didn't ride a whole ton, but we got some good rides in. We did Wrath of Rakshasa. We did, we sat we sat, he sat on my lap for Whizzer.

Speaker: No. We got American Eagle is racing during Fright Fest. So we got racing Eagle ride. um We were sitting on vertical velocity and then we noticed that the the recording that happens as you're pulling back into the station at the end of the ride kept repeating over and over again before we launched.

Speaker: And then the... The harnesses came up and then we had to sit there for about 30 minutes. um It was stuff it was some silly maintenance thing where they just had to fix like a magnet on ah the ops door to shut properly. ah and Then we finally got a map.

Speaker: We did Batman, which is the best Batman clone. And then. lie Oh, you're right. Sorry. It's not a clone because it's the original. But ah and then I think that was kind of it. And then we went home.

Speaker: It was a quick, quick few hours, but it was a good time. Beautiful weather. Nice. I barely remember my last time at Great America. so I feel like a lot of us didn't remember that time at Great America. I did not drink that much on that trip. But it was very funny. I did.

Speaker: I had a rough night. Anyway. Is it time to nut up or shut up? Yes. Okay.

Speaker: Heck yeah. I will let that one slide. note Yes, I gave you permission before we even started recording. Technically, that's not even a curse word. No, I know. But still. So. So, yeah.

Speaker: Three out of four of us watch Zombieland. Thanks, Jen. Yeah, just hearing the vibes. At least I'm doing better than Mikhail. He said he wouldn't come because he didn't watch. lose yeah that is He's also just like hella busy right now.

Speaker: I don't know. i think he's a loser. Yeah, he said he's going to skip because he hasn't seen it. And and he definitely wouldn't have time to watch it in the next two days. so Do you know anything about the premise of Zombieland and why we are talking about it for this episode, Jen?

Speaker: um Well, from Nate's I learned that it has something with Wild Adventures in Georgia. Yeah, it was um it was filmed there, particularly the place that they're trying to go to near the end of the movie.

Speaker: Spoiler alert, but if if you're watching this and haven't seen Zombieland, other than Jen, because, a you know, she's here in the podcast. If you're listening to this and you haven't seen it, then there's going to be spoilers. so But um yeah, Wild Adventures is where they filmed all of the theme park scenes.

Speaker: All but one B-roll scene, which we'll get to that because I have notes. Now, of course, they are going to Pacific Playland in the movie. and what and in There's nothing more Pacific Ocean-y than Georgia.

Speaker: Right. and And it's definitely on the ocean and they show that because other than the lake in the middle of the park, there's like no water. right I really love the Pacific Ocean from Georgia.

Speaker: It's fantastic. Oh yeah. Yeah. Throughout the movie I was trying to figure out because they filmed like the majority of this movie in Georgia like not just yeah Wild Adventures but like overall and I was just trying to figure out like what little towns they were but I don't know Georgia well enough to like be able to pick it out.

Speaker: so I don't know the towns much either but I know I heard about like when they were filming it and stuff because I lived in Georgia at that time. So.

Speaker: Yeah. I think Bond Adventures is the only like set or like film location that I've been to from there.

Speaker: Fair enough. Well, but.

Speaker: um When was the last time you had watched Zombieland? Tim. Honestly, it had been a long time. i would say if I had to guess pre-COVID for sure.

Speaker: i would say maybe 10

Speaker: Did it hold up for you? it came out in 2009. Yeah, I would guess at least 10 years ago was the last time I had. Yeah, it did. It was still such an entertaining movie, kind of right from the get-go.

Speaker: i think something that I love about this movie is it it very much knows exactly what it is from the start of the movie, and it's it's, it's very like stylistic in that sense where it's just like, we are going to, it's just so much of its own thing. Like it's yeah other movies since this have come out, have tried to recreate sort of like what this movie did and its tone and everything. But this, this is a movie that knew exactly what it was from the start. And it's so fun.

Speaker: Yeah, it's it's very self-aware, but it does it and it does it in the right way. like The humor hits like it works. It's not trying to take itself seriously. It's not The Walking Dead. or I will say one thing that jumped out at me, speaking of the theme park scene, is So much of this movie is built on the premise that like these four, four, yeah, four main characters ah are, you know, they survive because they have their own sets of rules that they stick to. They're very smart about navigating the zombie filled world.

Speaker: except when the two characters get to the theme park and then they turn into like the dumbest people. Yeah. And all of their own rules just go out the door. Right.

Speaker: Yeah. I was like, it's a bold move to just flick everything on and it's going to attract the zombies. Like, Throughout the movie, they're making loud noises at certain times in order to attract the zombies. Right. And then they do specifically that. And that was their goal. That's why they were going there. like Okay.

Speaker: The whole theme park scene, i think we're going to have a lot of fun talking about it. je Jen was just telling me, too, I think on her third watch this week. that I don't think this movie understands how theme park operations work.

Speaker: Yeah, i have I have three. Okay, I have five pages of notes. Three of them. You have five pages of notes? Well, they're very small pages. They're not not like a paper. I stopped taking notes because I saw how much notes he was taking.

Speaker: uh he's got us he's got we streamed it on discord last night so three and a third of these notes are about the um and music parks the end the movie you know it's almost like we have an amusement park related podcast that we were watching we were watching it for right uh-huh also real quick jen are your survival instincts good I ask this because if if you're being chased by zombies and you know you're being chased by zombies, would the first thing you do be to lock yourself onto a ride?

Speaker: on a on a On a shot test power tower? Yeah, an SNS tower specifically. I mean, if it keeps running, they can't really get you. but um got a question.

Speaker: Who's running the ride, Jen? I can't say I would even make it that far because if i'm being run if I'm being honest, even if it was like life or death, I don't think I would run. yeah follow Follow-up question, jen If you got to a theme park and there was no one else there and you had the entire theme park to yourself and all the rides are just going to run by magic, is the first ride you're going to ride um the pirate ship?

Speaker: The pirate ship? No. like Because that's what they chose. Yeah, no. i I can't even say that that would be like my top ten.

Speaker: If it was a European fair stand-up pirate ship, I might consider it. oh I would absolutely go in it then. Yeah, the cage if you stand up That does look fun. But then you could just pull a Woody Harrelson and have your guns and just like shoot all the zombies as you go past while you're safely in a cage.

Speaker: Yeah. Safely. Locking yourself into things when zombies are after you is a choice no matter what, though. Yeah, but then you don't have to run. So I might do it if it means I don't have to run. Okay. So the issue on the drop tower is like they're locked in and then the zombies start climbing the tower.

Speaker: Yeah, but then when the thing shoots up and down. And you come back down. Mm-hmm. I have so many gripes with that scene. cin Yeah. i've got I've got them written down. On your way up, all the zombies are chasing you up and then the thing drops and boom.

Speaker: Done. Gone. No, so this slowly goes back down. Yeah, so they did it wrong. So it's an observation tower? No, it goes quickly up. Yeah, it like shoots up and then it like stopped at the top and then it slowly lowered them.

Speaker: And then it dropped them back up again. and so it did two ride cycles. And then they had to shoot the control panel because naturally they had guns on them. um They just shot the whole control panel so the ride died.

Speaker: And then the zombies started climbing and then they ran out of ammo. Oh. It sounds like they didn't get out of this. This is it. And Jen, your whole thing about not having to run doesn't hold true because as you learn right away in the movie, rule number one in Zombieland is cardio. cardio Is cardio, yeah.

Speaker: I wouldn't have made it this far. I wouldn't have made it to the park. It sounds like you definitely had one of the rules down because you mentioned bathrooms earlier today and there is a like never trust bathrooms is one. Yeah. Beware of bathrooms.

Speaker: Beware of bathrooms. I hate bathrooms anyway. So that would not be a hard rule for me to follow. Yeah.

Speaker: Um, I dropped things. Sorry.

Speaker: um Yeah, beware of bathrooms. because So what are you supposed to do? just Well, you just check and have your gun with you. okay. And just make sure that you're being vigilant and aware of any zombies that could enter. So I can't even focus on like... Check all the stalls before you get into your stall.

Speaker: Yeah, before you start doing your business, make sure the whole room and everything is cleared out. And then have your gun ready anyway. Yeah.

Speaker: And make sure once you shoot that zombie. Double tap. You double tap. That's another rule. It's like three or something. Yeah. Literally like watching the purge for Meg's podcast and I'm like making notes. And I think one of my notes was why did he not double tap?

Speaker: For plot, they usually don't double tap for plot. If you've ever watched Scream, the first Scream movie, and Randy's like explaining all the rules and he's like, the killer always comes alive at the end for one final scare. And then that's when the killer comes alive for one final scare and they shoot him.

Speaker: Spoilers for Scream. Sorry. i' have not seen Scream. There's a new show called Widow's Bay, which is really great. And after she kills like a slasher person, it's not a big scene in the movie, but there's a whole montage where she's just sitting there holding the gun to the like serial killer's head while he's like in the ambulance, while he's like in the like about to be cremated, and she waits until she like sees that he's cremated, and then she's like, okay, good. She like sticks along with the gun the whole time.

Speaker: She's ready to double tap just in case. Right. I think my favorite rule is still one limber up makes me laugh. Limber up is funny. Limber up is a good one.

Speaker: Enjoy the little things. Enjoy the little things. The rule written in later. Yeah. Rule 32. Right. I don't know. Yeah, I think it's Rule 32, Enjoy the Little Things, and it it was inspired by Woody Harrelson's character, Tallahassee. Yes. And Columbus is the one that makes the rules, or has his rules, and that's Jesse Eisenberg, who...

Speaker: who plays a weird pipsqueak as, uh, as he usually does, um, in movies. So, um, Nate can't use the line that he really wants to use No, he says it's peppy little blank. And I can't say the blank, which is not fun, but it's okay. What the heck?

Speaker: Yeah, I know. He is peppy and he, and he's little compared to Woody Harrelson, at least. Um, And Jen, for for for your little fill-in, basically Woody Harrelson has a, the entire length of this movie, his one goal is to basically find Twinkies.

Speaker: Yeah. Oh man, I meant to get Twinkies for a recording too. Yeah. ah ah so many Because Twinkies famously do not expire. And so he just really wants to find to every like store they find. He keeps trying to find Twinkies and he can't find. And he keeps finding snowballs instead. Yeah. At the beginning, he opens a truck and it's full snowballs. He's like, I hate snowballs.

Speaker: I don't like coconut. to Not the flavor, the consistency. I agree with him on that. I love coconut everything. So yeah, it's fine. I've never had a snowball. Yeah. I've never had a snowball, but I do really like coconut stuff.

Speaker: So I probably would like that. Like shaved coconut. So I get what he's. Yeah. Yeah. That's fair. I'm going with the taste of coconut I don't know. Snowballs being pink.

Speaker: I mean, Hostess is all artificial stuff anyway. Let's be honest. You're not eating Hostess to be healthy, but... um Yeah. i I don't know.

Speaker: I do have a couple of amusement park notes from the very beginning of the movie because um they show DC right away at the beginning. Six Flags America? The first thing I wrote down was rest in peace Six Flags America.

Speaker: Both in the movie because it's now zombie like America's now Zombieland but also rest in peace Six Flags America for real. Yeah. And then um I noticed in like... Oh, man. Just go Darien Lake.

Speaker: Both of you go to Darien Lake. It's the same thing. And it's only the water. Is that the same at New England, too? New England is a different layout and it's better. Okay. I don't need to go to Darien Lake. It'll okay.

Speaker: Okay. Um... They do like the zoom out of the world and the world is on fire and everything's burning in the United States. And there's a very large roller coaster and Ferris wheel on that burning earth um that I saw, which obviously everything on that is like expanded for size. so You can see it.

Speaker: But like I was like, wow, that's a very large Ferris wheel and roller coaster. But it fits with the theme because that's where they end up trying to go. They just photoshopped that and everything. They did. Yeah.

Speaker: They photoshopped Ferris wheel and roller coaster into a lot of things. It's become very popular to like for any kind of post-apocalyptic zombie stuff it seems having some like desolate shot of a theme park because I know ah though are not The Walking Dead. um The Last The Last of Us.

Speaker: You saw Worlds of Fun. And then there's also like a, well, actually this was like, so not even the desolate part, but there's like a random like photo of a guy's family on his desk. And it's him standing with El Toro and King Daka in the background.

Speaker: I remember Discord like blowing up about that. I have a bone to pick with Last of Us. You guys brought it up. Not me. It's Worlds of Fun, but it's supposed to be frigging talent at Thorny Park.

Speaker: Is it really? Yeah, they're going through Allentown. are going through Pennsylvania. Why didn't they just, well, there's probably filming incentives involved, but like, why didn't they just film it there? You say Mamba, but I don't think it would be Talon at Dorney Park. I think it would be... It would be Steel Force. No, everything at Dorney Park is Talon. Oh, that's true. yeah yeah It would have been Steel Force. I don't need your technicalities. It's Talon at Dorney Park.

Speaker: And it was Mamba when it was still red. So it's still bad. Steel force at least. But yeah, but I, that's been my, that was my biggest gripe with that. The first season of last of us. They're like, yeah, we're going to New York from Pennsylvania, which is straight past Dorney park.

Speaker: Yeah. And it's worlds of fun, man. Well, Hey, you know what? I'll give them credit for at least making the coaster look the same.

Speaker: Because they fully could have like picked Raging Bull. That's just the first one I thought of because Tim's here. Should be so lucky. Yeah. They could have picked like something that looks nothing like Dorney Park. They at least picked Mamba.

Speaker: I'm convinced that like the inclusion of that and the great adventure picture that someone involved with the crew is a rollercoaster enthusiast. Probably. Probably.

Speaker: Like, yeah, why would you specifically try to make it look like Dorney Park? like I think Jen had some influence here. ah Yeah, actually, I'm part of the Last of Us, like, team. I knew it. Oh, wow.

Speaker: Yeah. I not know this. Did you guys see? This is so random. Random tangent. There was this woman. There was this woman that made a treat and was, like, as one of the creators of, like, this show. And, like...

Speaker: real news articles were picking it up and she just said it as a joke. And like people started citing her like actually as one of the creators of the show that she was like making a joke about. And then she kept having to like come back and be like, guys, I'm not actually the creator of the show. That's me to The Last of Us. As the creator of The Last of Us. Yeah.

Speaker: so So why did you allow them to do that, by the way, Jen? Why'd you allow them to film at Worlds of Fun when it should have been Dorney Park? now we're under so Now we're questioning like why you let that happen. for as As a creator.

Speaker: I wanted to rage-bake myself. The integrity of you. Yeah. No, I wanted to rage bait myself for entertainment. You're the only one activated about this. It worked.

Speaker: and Now, everybody that watched that show is famously a fan of this podcast. So um they will have comments after watching The Last of Us and now watching the podcast um about Zombieland.

Speaker: Yeah. um ah Yeah. They'll definitely have some thoughts about that. Perfect. Everyone send them to me. Sure, we could talk at nauseam about, like, rollercoaster appearances in random TV shows and movies.

Speaker: Listen, that's honestly an episode I want to do at some point. I'm starting to point out ones in the YouTube and Nebula show Jetlag that Alice and I love to watch. um I've like kind of kept track of some of the coasters they've seen, like Tivoli Gardens. They've taken a train past Linamaki. They saw Rasutsu Resort in Japan. What is this show?

Speaker: It's called Jetlag, the game. Oh, you don't know about Jetlag? Yeah, you would love it, I think, Tim. Yeah, look up Jetlag, the game on YouTube. Highly recommend it. It's very good. It's like YouTube series. Yeah. It's like gamified travel.

Speaker: Like they do ah hide and seek in different countries. They do tag across Europe. ah They just did a race through Japan. Yeah. They've done capture the flag in Japan, race to circumnavigate the world. They did hide and seek in Japan. They've been to Japan three times. And the next one is hide and seek Italy, and I'm so excited. Interesting.

Speaker: I just remember in the movie Richie Rich, he has a backyard rollercoaster, but it's just it's just Iron Wolf at Great America. Oh, yeah. They filmed him. out yeah um Interesting choice for him, but yeah. Yeah. ah Anyway,

Speaker: um i have another i have another note about kind of a tie into a rollercoaster, only because the rollercoaster's theme But in the movie, Zombieland, that we're back on, ah ah Woody Harrelson is driving this. He starts out, he's driving this, what is it? It's a Cadillac, but it's like one of the big SUV Cadillacs.

Speaker: And it's got he's got the cow catcher on the front that will like just plow through. zombies And he pulls up on Jesse Eisenberg. And one of the things you see on the side of his car is a three painted on there in the style of Dale Earnhardt, which you may know Intimidator 305 and Intimidator at Carowinds are both...

Speaker: Dale themed. So I wrote down three on car, all hail Dale, I-305. That was my note ah ah so not really an I-305 reference, but I made it one because I can, you know, raise hell, praise Dale, all hail Dale.

Speaker: Now, he's from Tallahassee, he's probably more on the Intimidator Carowinds. Unfortunately, he probably is, but they are somewhat close to each other over there.

Speaker: you know, King's Dominion is not too far. They're within the same region, at least. So maybe he's ridden both. I don't know.

Speaker: I don't know. i was going to say, I don't know if I peg him for a coaster guy. Even though he rides it later, rides one later while shooting zombies. I love the fact that that ride just like pulls into the mid course, stops, gets, he gets on it and then it just drives away. he's showing I have a note about that too. Yeah. You said something like, why are you loading in a block zone? Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: There's a whole sequence of um this character, Tallahassee on a wild mouse. have Actually, have you been, you haven't been a lot adventures. I'm guessing. No, I've not. Yeah, so but it's just standard wild mouse and he um has his gun and he's shooting zombies while riding the roller coaster.

Speaker: And it's honestly really The layout is completely out of order, too. Yeah, they stick. I love that for them. ah That's like the one thing I was watching for in that scene is like he goes through all the hills at the end because he gets on a block, ah gets on at one of the block zones further down.

Speaker: And he does the hills and then he's magically on the hairpin turns. Yeah. Yeah, this is when it was still on the original name, which was Bug Out. So you can actually see the Bug Out logo in the movie at the time. And then it briefly from 2010 to 2022, it was Go Bananas. So that's not very brief, actually. That's 12 years.

Speaker: um And then now it's Marsh Mayhem, which is arguably the worst name of the three. Like 12 years is like half your life, man. 13 years is half my life.

Speaker: um basically happy your life But it was actually Go Bananas the longest because it was Bug Out for nine years, Go Bananas for 12, and it's been March Mayhem for four. so Yeah. yeah i've actually I've been to Wild Adventures more than I care to admit because i used to drive between Jacksonville and Atlanta all the time, and Wild Adventures is right on that route. so um There were a couple years I had to pass to Wild Adventures, and I would stop there, go in between my mom and my dad's place. Is this the one that's owned by Hershen?

Speaker: Yes. Okay. It's owned by Hershen? It is. It is now, yeah. It was... Well, it was one of the three. There were only three before Hershen started buying everything. It was Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, and Wild Adventures.

Speaker: Weird. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that, but it was only those three for a minute. Then they bought Kentucky Kingdom, and then they started buying all of it. like They bought the Palace Parks. They bought Silverwood.

Speaker: So they bought a lot now, but... I'm still upset they took Cheetah out. Yeah, I went after Cheetah. So I sat in the Cheetah train. It was like sitting in a like a picnic area pavilion. Yeah. Yeah. I think they turned the station into the picnic pavilion.

Speaker: Oh, really? OK, so I didn't know in the station of Cheetah, but Cheetah is in the background in this movie, but it's not really featured at all. Yeah.

Speaker: Tim, did you notice when they pulled up to the park, like we sat and analyzed this for a minute, there's a shot where there's two boomerangs? Yes. Okay. I was going to get to that. I mean, like, we're an hour in. I think they just wanted to, like, make the park look bigger than it is, and their plan was just to, like, mirror another movie.

Speaker: So, i um where where do we start? Okay, I'm going to start at the beginning of my coaster notes because I've got, like, all of this written down in order. but um So, as they're, like, getting towards Pacific Playland and they're almost to their destination before they kind of split up,

Speaker: um They drive past. No, wait. No, this is after they split up. I'm sorry. Because it's just Emma Stone and Abigail Bresman. Yeah. yeah And Abigail Bresman. And they are Bresman. You don't even know her name. don't know her name. No, I don't.

Speaker: i was Her name is Little Rock. i'll be honest little miss Her name is her name's Little Rock in the movie. And Emma Stone's name is Wichita. So Wichita and Little Rock are... Even they're sisters?

Speaker: I question that same thing. um like Also, I don't know if you caught it, but Emma Stone, when she like at the very end, she tells Jesse Eisenberg her name. She says Krista.

Speaker: So she actually tells him her real name. She's the only one that does. Yeah, she's the only one that says her real name. um But they split up from Tallahassee and Columbus, and then they're going to Pacific Playland, and they drive past what looks like the park in the distance, but it's Six Flags Magic Mountain in 2009.

Speaker: But not only are X2, Viper, Colossus, not Twisted Colossus yet, um Tatsu, and Batman, and Riddler, and Scream, all visible,

Speaker: But they also decided to take the Ferris wheel and the S&S shot tower from Wild Adventures and edit that in on top of it. Jen, I just texted you a picture. We had it paused yeah on our screen for so long. I took a picture of it and I just sent you a picture of that screenshot of the park that they photoshopped some these things into. I know why they photoshopped that on top, even though it is pretty bad.

Speaker: in passing. This is my favorite part. Yeah. Okay. Thanks, Jen. Oh, thanks, Jen. She showed x to everybody. she just showed X2 that I famously didn't ride.

Speaker: Neither did Tim or Jen, just by the way, but I'm the one that- I wrote it multiple times. We didn't ask. So- um so Anyway, they show this picture. I know why they edited it like this because it's a very quick clip. Like if you're not looking for the rise and it's like five. bull frame We are.

Speaker: It's very short. So um you would have to pause it and pay attention to really notice it. Additionally, they want to make the Ferris wheel and the drop tower stand out because that is kind of what you notice at Wild Adventures.

Speaker: Oh, and they edited out Superman. Yeah. Yeah. The spikes of Superman are not there. They had they took Superman out. um I also made a note that it was before Apocalypse, Full Throttle, Twisted Colossus, and Wonder Woman Flight of Courage, obviously, because it was 09.

Speaker: So there's some rides missing. um But yeah, that's the first of the poorly CGI slash editing. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, Tim, I don't know if you noticed when they pulled into the parking lot, which I guess you said you did notice, but off to the left, they decided to edit in another wild mouse, which I can only assume is the same wild mouse.

Speaker: you can very clearly see the real wild mouse on the right. And then over in the left corner, there's an edited one that's way too big. Then there's the boomerang in the middle that's also like 10 times as big as it would actually be from that perspective. yeah And doesn't have the spikes. And doesn't have the spikes. Then there's the actual one.

Speaker: Yeah. And then there's the actual one that's over, um like, actually in the park that you can see in the same clip. Do you want to know a fun fact? Yes.

Speaker: I have never ridden a traditional... boomerang. I've written every other iteration of a boomerang. Even the Jeep? i've done ah I've done a couple different giant inverted.

Speaker: I did Spain and Great America. I've yeah i've done ah the inverted boomerang at Kings Island. I've done a lot of family boomerangs. I've never done a traditional boomerang.

Speaker: You're not missing much. I have been several parks that have them. Really? You just haven't? If it's more than a 30-minute wait, I'm not going to do it. yeah And I'll focus. I'm like, maybe I'll come back later. I'm gonna do the rest of the creds, and then I'll come back. I'll be like, or I could just rewrite Wicked Cyclone a few times. I'll just do that.

Speaker: Yeah. also mentioning Wicked Cyclone. That's one of my least favorite of the normal boomerangs. So oh the other one in New England at New England. Yeah. It's really bad.

Speaker: Um, but that, that is interesting. Um, you have written an SLC though, right? Yes. Have you? Okay. And I actually kind of like New England.

Speaker: Uh, New England isn't bad because of the new restraints. It helps. I think, um, In my head, I'm like, they had an SLC at New England. The Riddler's Revenge. Oh, right, right. Okay.

Speaker: I don't know what it was before that because I think they changed it when they added the new restraints, but either way. um So as they pull up, they do a couple shots of like the coasters in the park. So first of all, the front gate, that chain,

Speaker: Way too weak. bring the The Hummer that they're in breaks that so easily. I think if you're like tapping it i think you're forgetting what like a major part of that scene, though, Nate. She says, open sesame.

Speaker: Right, okay. And so, i yeah, it you're forgetting about the magic part of it. And I did learn from SpongeBob that open sesame is the magic word. Yeah. yeah Where Patrick goes...

Speaker: Open Sesame. That was a good man. Thank you. That was a good impression. I don't know why. take any opportunity to ah impersonate a SpongeBob episode? I can do Patrick.

Speaker: Video is not on for the podcast. Sorry, guys. But if if you can't see, there's Patrick Crocs in my back. Oh, yeah. I can kind of see them. Yeah, do you see? I can see that they're- see I at least see that they're Patrick colored.

Speaker: Yeah. They're Patrick Crofts. They're pretty fun. I will just always associate... I will always associate Nate with ah running to the to the boulder outside of Linden Maki.

Speaker: That's a Sponge... I'm not as good as a SpongeBob voice. But that's just like... It's not just a boulder. It's a rock. Pioneers used to ride these babies for miles.

Speaker: I should post that on Patreon, by the way, when this once this episode drops. I love that video so much. But yeah, I mean, you should actually post that.

Speaker: um I'll send that to you, Tim. Ahsoka says yes. I will find that right now and send that to you. So she says the magic words, so that's why they're able to, the Hummer's able to push through. It's just like, you could just like breathe on that lock and it would fall open. Yeah.

Speaker: By the way, this is a Hummer that Woody Harrelson finds later once the car had been stolen, and he had also painted a three on this. So there's a three on this Hummer, too. um A yellow Hummer.

Speaker: Yellow Hummer. Bright yellow Hummer. Very cool. Yeah. um And also maybe a reason why this chain broke off so easily besides the magic because that's the real reason.

Speaker: In a zombie apocalypse, it's probably going to rust and get weaker over time and they're not going to take it off and replace the chain. So that's probably another... The Wild Adventure's maintenance crew has not been replacing those chains. Right, because they're zombies.

Speaker: Yeah. um I love that when they arrive, she just flips the power of the park on and all the rides just start running. Immediately start running. Right before that, i had one more poor editing note um because once that gate breaks, it shows the park again as they pull under.

Speaker: There's a poorly edited SLC in the same poorly edited boomerang right in front of them. The part that gets me is that this SLC is yellow. Like it the supports and the track are yellow.

Speaker: Wild Adventures SLC has never been yellow. it It was red and then it was blue and green. So they specifically got a different SLC and edited in there. And I think the one they got was a gauntlet from magic Springs in Arkansas. Cause that's the only one I know that's like all yellow.

Speaker: So that's my guess. Which is crazy that they're just like picking these random pictures of coasters when they've got a park that has an SLC and a boomerang and they're yet there doing this editing. It was already there and they edited in another one.

Speaker: Yeah. um But yeah, to the point of her just flipping on the power, ah my first note as someone who minored in electrical engineering with specifically about like power, I said, how is there still power? Because...

Speaker: Um, it's post apocalypse America with zombies. No one's running the power grid. And you can say the same thing about the opening scene when he's filling up gas. Like he's not, yeah who's filling the gas. There's there's no gas there.

Speaker: Yeah. I mean, the gas is probably evaporated at that point, but if it wasn't, there's at least not people filling up with it all the time. So there, there's a small chance there's gas, probably not, but yeah, I don't, yeah.

Speaker: Um, I also put notes like the carousel would not start right up and start running, neither would the coaster. um I put, how did they send the ride? Because they got on it.

Speaker: and So that's my favorite part. ah it is The one time we see them start a ride is with the drop tower. And so what they do is they walk past the the op station, they press a button, and then they come, put themselves in the harness, and then after like five seconds, it just starts.

Speaker: Magic. Which is exactly how ride operations happen in real life. Right. If you're if you're not riding a butterfly or a nautic jet in in Germany where you like put the coin in or other countries in Europe too, where put the coin in and push the button, you're not operating your own ride. like um Yeah, they ride the they ride the pirate ship and then they get on the the drop tower and like how did they get off the pirate ship?

Speaker: Like, how'd they get on it, and then how did they subsequently get back off of it? All this time, the lights, the noises, the sounds are all attracting all these zombies. It's a dinner bill.

Speaker: So they're getting their themselves into trouble here. um And of course, as plot would go, the boys come to save them. And that's when, like, this movie gets really fun at the end with, like, all the amusement park stuff and zombie killing.

Speaker: just I mean, Woody Harrelson is just having a like a great time in this movie as a whole. yeah like This whole scene is just him finding ways to use the the rides to creatively allow himself to kill more zombies in fun ways. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. Which I'm sure one of his kills has to be kill of the week. Yeah. he Up until this point, had he he had never gotten it, right? No, they never said he got it or anything. There was a long time where he was like, that has to be Zombie Kill the Week. And he said, actually, it went to this guy. That was a whole issue that Nate had with the movie. Yeah, it went to this lady who pulled a lever and a piano fell on the zombie and she went into her church. One, why is she going to church? Maybe she lives there now. I'll give her that.

Speaker: My bigger thing is how do they know who's getting kill of the week? It's like or of the day like an ace membership. You get the magazine. you know It's like a quarterly.

Speaker: Okay. So they don't have to worry about like social media because there is no social media at this point. there's no Yeah, they're just sending out. Jesse Eisenberg had not created Hadn't made Facebook yet. You're right. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, that was a later. That movie came out the next year. So he hadn't made Facebook yet. You're right. Correct. Okay.

Speaker: so So it's a newsletter. I understand. Yeah, they're sending out newsletters. To where? the week ah Tallahassee, Wichita. Columbus. And I Little Rock.

Speaker: Here's the thing. It's like, dude, if you little Rock, just go to ah the um Springs. What's it called? Hot Springs? of Magic Springs? Just go to Magic Springs. you Well, that's where they edited the SLC from. Yeah. Yeah. You didn't need to go to the Pacific coast of Georgia for that. You could have just stayed in in Arkansas.

Speaker: Exactly. Yeah. They have coasters in Arkansas. I've ridden them, most of them. That's what people say. I'm so proud of you. ah One of them I didn't because I got struck by lightning before I went. Oh.

Speaker: I need to go back there at some point, but I don't really want to. um What other notes do I have? It is unsafe to ride a flat ride with zombies is one of my notes.

Speaker: Is that your which correct? Which is kind of what I meant by that is why did you pick a flat ride that doesn't like move you away from stuff? you're You're on a flat ride, so you're in the same spot the whole time. Zombies are going to get to you. If you ride a roller coaster, even though you're out and back, they're not going to catch up to you unless they're waiting in the station. Woody Harrelson was the smart one. Yeah. Because he got on the little aviator ride and went in a circle and again killed more zombies. So I guess I want to propose this question to you all.

Speaker: If you could be at any, let's keep it in America to just keep this in a smaller scope. If you could be at any theme park while zombies are coming to try and attack you, what theme park do you think you would have the best chance at survival?

Speaker: can Can zombies come in on the water? i don't think they could swim. Cedar Point. There's a crossway. No, no, no. like They're in the park with you already.

Speaker: Yeah, but still, like more aren't more can only come in way. And you can't leave the park. you have fifteen Yeah, but you have like 15... Oh, I guess you can't leave. Well... If you can't leave, the way in doesn't matter. I was gonna say Magic Kingdom.

Speaker: Isn't that fully water? But they're already in the park with you. they're in the park, yeah. My brain sort of goes to like islands of adventure. I just feel like there's a lot of nooks and crannies and escape routes.

Speaker: Yeah, Magic Kingdom's not fully surrounded by water. imagine fighting with zombies in the nets while you're drunk?

Speaker: I don't think... i personally don't think I would be getting drunk during the zombie apocalypse. but Well, how how else do you go in the nets in Jurassic Park? Well, there's no one there to stop you.

Speaker: So, uh, I tend to think I, I tend to think that I think a little better when I'm drinking. That's, that's a great idea though, Jen, we should ride Toronto dawn flyers. Cause the zombies are not allowed to ride it yeah They're all, well, they're too old. They're too tall. no they're zombie care There are zombie little girls, but we're going to assume that their parents, we're going to assume that their parents didn't take them to universal after being zombified.

Speaker: um I'm trying to come up with a series, like an actual tactical answer this. think the zombies would get too tired trying to chase me through the American Eagle queue. hu Yeah. so Well, cardi yeah that's that's the longest queue stateside. has to be.

Speaker: I've heard Zadra, but, you Yeah, I was going to it's still Zadra, but. I still think that my money is on... um Cedar Point? Cedar Point. Because it's like, yeah, you are stuck in the park, but like if you're stuck in a park that they have access every way around, like you're going to get overwhelmed.

Speaker: like Sure, you have an escape route, but you don't really because they're going be able to be crowding you from all direction. i would just love to see them get on like the top throw launch track and then just get smashed. Exactly. I think with the types of roller coasters at Cedar Point, like you start up one of those babies...

Speaker: You're good. yeah There's plenty of options. If you tilt Siren's curse. They will fall off. they They're not going to be like locked in. They can't get around the the, they can't come and like get you. So I don't know. You know, there's some options for sure.

Speaker: Or they start flying. Cedar Point is really big. yeah It's really big. It has a lot of coasters, a lot of different ways to get away from them. And there's only the one way in or out. you Let's say that there's a boat. You can get out by boat, but there's only one way into the causeway. Technically, there's two. There's the other... the ri yeah there's the other causeway connection. Well, still, two instead of completely being surrounded. Like, yeah.

Speaker: What if... Okay, if you can't get out of the park at all and you're stuck there, what about Millennium Island? Can you completely guard yourself from zombies on that? Like, you won't be riding anything, but, you know, ah is it fully surrounded by water? Because they call it Millennium Island, so...

Speaker: I have no idea what Millennium Island is. is ah So most of Millennium Force's layout is like on... It's where Dinosaur's Live was. Oh, okay. It's like people call it Millennium Island or Millennium Force Island. And also like Millennium gets really close to the ground so it could like still operate and ram into a few.

Speaker: Yeah. they're if they're stupid enough to climb on the track. Looking at the map, Millennium Island is fully surrounded by water. um It's where the two turnarounds are.

Speaker: I mean, some of those smarty smarties, some of those zombies are smart enough that like, well, there's a bridge, but you could, you could either fortify or tear down the bridge if you wanted to. But no, like that was what I was thinking is like, they would still probably climb onto the track and go across the track. Oh yeah. That's a good point. Yeah. Yeah. You're not tearing out millennium force.

Speaker: Have Millennium Force operating because clearly could run without people. The Thuzis will riot. Yeah. but so So have Millennium Force running, right? And then every once in a while when one of the trains goes, assuming you're having a good operations day, it will knock all the zombies off the track every few minutes. It's an apocalypse and just the rides randomly operate with nobody run them. So it's just kind of keep going. If we have the a ability to destroy bridges, there's one answer.

Speaker: You're not going to like it. It's Leronde. It is LaRonde. That's the whole park. And they would get lost trying to find the parking lot. It's perfect. You just take down a couple of bridges. You're good. I actually, i don't hate that answer because I had a fantastic time at LaRonde. I heard they have a wonderful fireworks show.

Speaker: Isn't that the one that Taylor Bybee famously hates? Yes, he famously hates it. Okay, so the problem with tearing down bridges at Leronde is those are really big, whereas Millennium Islands is a footbridge.

Speaker: But maybe you could pull it off if you added some explosives. don't know. did notice that in zombie apocalypses, just fires everywhere. So yeah for no inexplicable reason. Some of them are explainable. Like um you have things that you have to maintain in factories, plants, buildings. Every other car is on fire.

Speaker: So cars, yeah, cars aren't going to spontaneously combust, but if you have... I think Hyundai's had that issue like a few years ago Well... So they, yeah. I guess they can, but not like every car on the street.

Speaker: But if you have zombies attacking them, maybe they... My thought is that like zombies are basically trying to carjack like the living people and like pull them onto the car so then the car veers and runs into other cars. And and then that obviously can cause explosions. It's always a movie explosion. Yeah.

Speaker: that will That can cause combustion. i wouldn't say it would cause an explosion. But we're in a movie, so movies are going have... And like I said, Leron is supposed to have an incredible firework show, so if those things are just laying around.

Speaker: Oh, yeah. donies I didn't think about it from that perspective. I thought just like, yeah, Leron is firework. No, i wasn't saying that originally. Now I'm just thinking of it. Yeah, yeah okay. You just have all that ammunition. Yeah.

Speaker: Honestly, I really liked Leron genuinely, so I would not be mad if... If I was fighting off zombies to keep them off the island i have heard that their Batman clone is potentially the best. It's air very good. i say room Yeah, the original is still my favorite. Jen, what's the Talon name again?

Speaker: of Which one? The one at Lorond.

Speaker: Oh. Letalon. Letalon. Letalon.

Speaker: Yeah, because the one in Paris is Eiffel Tower. Eiffel Tower, yeah. so So Laurent can be Le Talon. Le Talon. I had to remember the actual name of the ride. That's why I was like so confused. I was like, wait, I don't remember, but it's Le Vampire.

Speaker: Le Talon. And then is it and know isn't... What's the one ride and it's just Laurent backwards? Yeah. Ednor? Ednor. What? Wait a minute. No. I didn't know that either was.

Speaker: Oh, my gosh. It is. Oh, my gosh. I didn't think i didn't know Ednor was just Leron backwards. That's the SLC, but it's Rond backwards. yeah That's actually incredible. I love that.

Speaker: Oh my gosh, that's like that's like some trivia stuff. like out here times Where is Bryant when we need him? Does Bryant know this? Bryant is probably watching my Bears beat his Patriots right now.

Speaker: Are they winning? The Bears are winning in halftime. Go Bears. Do you know the other significant thing about Ednor and Bryant? there's The significance there? No.

Speaker: It was the very first coaster he did on January 1st for his YouTube tour.

Speaker: Oh! Okay.

Speaker: Number one of 365. Yes. and And he ranked it very low. I do remember that.

Speaker: It would not surprise me if in that video he mentions that it's Ronde backwards. Um... Isn't the... Wait. I don't think it is backwards. I think two of the letters are switched. Isn't it called Endor?

Speaker: No, it's... It's Ednor. E-D-N-O-R. Ednor, okay. Yeah, so it is Ronde backwards. Okay. But then they've got the La-Tec... La-Tec.

Speaker: I can't speak French. La-Tec at the end of it. But that's i think that's just attraction, isn't it?

Speaker: Either way. Uh...

Speaker: I feel like I can, you know, translate French to English.

Speaker: I hate French. Okay. I was told by a couple of people in a group chat that I, it's the attack that they knew it. So I guess I just am dumb. Oh, it's not attraction. it's attack.

Speaker: Yeah. I sent it to Taylor Bybee. I want to know if he knows. the attack. So, so it's the attack on Laurent. Maybe. It's the backwards attack. I mean, that brings it back to the zombie stuff. Yeah.

Speaker: So why don't they run the train backwards? I don't want to ride necessarily backwards. Oh god, that sounds awful. So, zombie stuff. Um... Oh, Allison and I spent a little bit of time looking at some of their park signs. They did a really good job um covering up all wild adventure stuff. yeah And I wrote down this.

Speaker: It's a very obvious statement because this movie is from 2009 and AI did not exist until like 2020... two or three and didn't get good until 20 at least the way we know it yeah yeah i said sign is not ai which obviously but like it just it made me happy i know it's a 17 year old movie but like i like it i like that yeah i like that it wasn't ai i knew it was never going to be ai because it was predating it but

Speaker: Oh, my friend just in this group chat also said, Ednor literally translates to nothing. So it is just Rond backwards. Yeah, so it's not even that it' not even like attack on Laron. It's just yeah yeah the attack, Ednor.

Speaker: Yeah. um They do a couple other things because the boys come to rescue ah the girls and Jesse has to face, well, not Jesse, Columbus has to face his fears, which more than zombies is clowns.

Speaker: And he has to face a zombified clown, which is yeah somehow is the only currently alive zombie in the right area for the drop tower where the girls are stuck. um And somehow his his clown makeup has also not washed off in the previous time. is however long It has never been one set Pacific Leyland. I did write one note. Clowns aren't that scary. They're just unsettling.

Speaker: yeah I have no issue with clown haunted houses or anything. Yeah. um But he's he's approaching Jesse. um Jesse grabs the, or Columbus, grabs the very clearly heavy sledgehammer that they use for the like bell ringing ah attraction or game or whatever.

Speaker: And he knocks the clown on the ground with it. And then the double tap is him smashing his head in while he's on the ground. So he faced his fear and then he goes up to the ride.

Speaker: And this made me so angry because just to recap, the girls have done a couple of ride cycles and then to keep themselves from coming down slowly, which SNS towers don't do, um they shot the control panel so it would stop.

Speaker: I don't even know if they hit the e-stop or not. but and They just blew up the whole panel. They just blew up the whole panel. So they're stopped. He comes up and pulls a lever that does not exist on rides anywhere. And it says emergency brake.

Speaker: And instead of it being a brake, it lowers them back down and unlocks the It just safely finishes the ride cycle. Yeah. But that's the only time it drops fast is when he does the emergency break. Right.

Speaker: Subsequently smashing a couple zombies on the way down, by the way. Which means it's not really safe. That's true. But um but okay. um Then, you know, you get the cliche, oh, you saved me.

Speaker: ah I love you now kind of kiss. And she tells him her name. And then they they they're still fighting zombies after this, aren't they? Yeah, i think this is maybe when ah Woody Harrelson's character is like in the the legal game, I think, or something. yeah Yeah, it's all kind of happening at the same time.

Speaker: Yeah, there's like a shooting game that he closes himself into. Because when he's doing the shooting game, that's when Columbus goes through a haunted house. Right, to somehow get to the drop tower. Does Wild Adventures have a haunted house?

Speaker: No. No. So it was filmed in another world. Yeah, they filmed in another world, which is in near Atlanta. Right. Yeah. It's just outside of Atlanta. And um another note that I have, which according to maybe Tyler on thrills, chills and spills, I think Allison listened to the recent episode already.

Speaker: You said whose dog am I hearing? I think that's Tim's dog. Yeah, not me. As being a quiet little angel. Allison, did you say there was an attraction that Tyler went through where he actually did get grabbed? they went through a haunted house. I think there was one in Baltimore that they did or something.

Speaker: um And there was like a part where a puppet comes out and like wrapped around his torso. Yeah. Which is interesting. I didn't know that yeah they touched you like that. You had to sign a waiver maybe. yeah but it was one of those like They were alerted beforehand that yeah things would touch you.

Speaker: I don't know. Tyler, I don't know if you listen to the podcast but you know yeah correct us if we're wrong on this. um But what I wrote down, because this is usually typical, is horror attractions wouldn't have an animatronic like dragon that comes out, bites you, and then pulls you into boo hole.

Speaker: Because it does that to a zombie. And I'm like, that's cool. but also not how haunt attractions work. Like I'm, I'm not only tearing them apart for how they're doing the park, but also the haunt attraction.

Speaker: It is spooky season. It is spooky. It's a valid contribution. Um, I forgot my note earlier when they go to the, the store so he can, so, uh, tell us he can try to find Twinkies.

Speaker: Uh, we wrote down basically kill Mart. Yeah. I immediately said kill Mart. Yeah. Which is a King's Island. Um, haunted attraction. Now this is like pre-Kill Mart in the lore because yeah the lights are still on.

Speaker: The whole store is not ransacked completely, but there is bloody. I'm surprised at that. Because it'd be the first thing that would get ransacked. It would be right gas stations for their gas and grocery stores for their food.

Speaker: and Yeah, but there's otherss there's a few zombies in here, so maybe the people got chased out or eaten or whatever and maybe they didn't get a chance to. um But then, you know, that's where they meet the girls for the first time and all that. But it is reminiscent of Kill Mart, which is one of Kings Island's ah haunted attractions and actually has been a very long standing haunted attraction at Kings Island. It's been the only thing in that building for years. And I finally went through it and we will talk about that on the next episode. Yeah.

Speaker: So that was kind of a cool moment. Are you also going to talk about the Son of Beast's Eternal Flame?

Speaker: ah like Like just the one that's outside Banshee. Yeah, that random internal flame. that Maybe. I love that there is an internal flame there. It's a memorial. It is a memorial.

Speaker: Something totally normal that all parks do. ah Yeah. It's King's Island. And then they never acknowledge that ride that they have a memorial too. Yeah. I'm ah getting close to the end of my notes, but um I did write down.

Speaker: no actually, I'm actually at the end of my notes. I'll be honest. We did say around an hour and a half. ah But my last note before I gave the movie a rating was I want a Twinkie.

Speaker: And I still haven't gotten the Twinkie. It's been 24

Speaker: I told you, i I meant to get some for recording, but then I just didn't have time to I don't know if you remember, but at one point, tweakings Twinkies went extinct. Yeah, Hostess went away. There was an uprising, so they were like, all right, we'll make Twinkies again.

Speaker: No, i know i remember all of Hostess went out of business. Oh, that's what it was. yeah Completely. And somebody bought it and brought it back. I'm going to look it up. Probably around the second time this movie came Yeah, like not long after this movie came out. I'm going to look it up.

Speaker: 2012. I was right. oh my God. That was a, yeah. Exception. That was a poll. Yeah. How long was Hostess gone? ah Looks like about a year. Not even yeah eight months.

Speaker: So because I remember this um My family and I like just didn't really every hostess very much But we learned they were going out of business So like I remember going and hoarding a bunch of the hostess stuff like hoarded Twinkies hoarded Ding Dongs and Zing one of the What are the ho hoes?

Speaker: um and then some of the pies and stuff and we just like had them for a while because it went out of business and then it came back like months later we were like okay well that was all for nothing um but yeah um still I've not had a snowball maybe I should get a snowball too I mean yeah

Speaker: Nate if we end up doing Dent Schoolhouse this weekend we will have some Twinkies okay

Speaker: Sounds good. He needs a snowball. Well, i'll have my I'll get my own snowball because I like coconut. Yeah, I'm yawning. Sorry, guys. i'm I've only been back in the States for like three days. I'm still on Europe time, so it's... It's really late for you right now. 4 a.m. right now.

Speaker: I'm just tired and I still need to pack for tomorrow. Yeah. it's only nine I don't have to do anything for tomorrow because my friend's coming to visit me. It'd be nice if some other friends would come visit me in Ohio, Jen.

Speaker: That would require Jen to go Ohio. Right. i know that was the joke. Yeah. i um One person on this podcast has already made me come to Ohio once this year. so Grant, I didn't make you. You chose to come. Well, Jen, you are all three of you are welcome in Chicago. And you basically saved my life.

Speaker: Yeah. i the Allison, I loved your wedding. Your wedding was the best ever, but I think the highlight of my weekend was Nate crawling out of the bar to puke on a sidewalk. I'm proud to be your highlight.

Speaker: I want like a painting, like a medieval style painting of him like striking that pose. Yeah. I actually want that too. Yeah, that'd be great. I'll see if I can get it done.

Speaker: No AI, please. I'm not an artist, I don't know. Yeah, that is art. That's a different kind of art than what do. I'm going to be like commissioning someone to make this. I'm going to get it tattooed on my arm. I will pay for that. I'll be honest.

Speaker: An open invitation to all three of you and all of the other shadow hosts of this podcast to come to Chicago anytime. I was in Chicago for a business trip like like a month ago, and I thought about hitting you up and realized I was um i wasn't going to have any time outside of what we were doing.

Speaker: Um, so I, I didn't, but I was with, um, I was with some, like management and guys who were like in charge of me, my boss and some other guys above him. And we went out and they all had Malort for the first time with me and another couple of my coworkers who were like around my age who we'd all had it. And then the older guys hadn't had it.

Speaker: So we we introduced like five people to Malort for the first time and ah in like downtown Chicago. and I mean, listen, I love Allison's Malort Jell-O shots, but there is nothing just like a pure unadulterated.

Speaker: You've made Malort Jell-O shots?

Speaker: oh Silver Dollar City for sure. Okay, that was for the shot roulette. Yeah. That was a dangerous game. places Yeah, there's nothing just like a pure, unadulterated Shadim Lord.

Speaker: That sounds awful. I've only done a shot of Malort once and wasn't. have a video of you doing your first Malort shot at Cedar Point. No, you don't. Really? Yeah. ah Gary made a whole montage of people who were trying their first Malort shots. and I don't think I knew that existed. I'll say i'll send you a gem because if it's, it's your reaction right next to Laurel's positive reaction to it is, is really fun to see. Right.

Speaker: I love that. we Me and Laurel, you know, we just compliment each other. I've only had Malort twice. once The first time was Deep Dish Stumble, which, of course, um with like 50 people. And the second time was that work trip. so That was only your second one?

Speaker: Yeah. oh man I've only had two Malort shots, and that I really don't plan to have many more. The second one was better than the first, kind of because I knew was better. each one gets better. I kind of believe that, even though it was still really bad.

Speaker: And they were out of um they were out of the Chicago beer. What's it called? um your standard Old style. They're out of old style, so we had to do Miller Lite. Felt wrong. Could have done a PBR. It's big here, too. ah Yeah, I would have i wouldve done a PBR.

Speaker: Did you know Urban Artifact did a Chicago relish... I had it. Drink it. Oh, yeah, it was it was. I think it was called Chicago style relish. And i i yeah I bought a can of it and I asked the guy, I said, is this good? And he said, it's he's like, I love it. It's everything but the hot dog.

Speaker: And I was like, all right. It kind of tasted more like pretty, pretty close to like a pickle beer. Oh, yeah, I didn't love it. I did think of you, though, when I ah saw that came out.

Speaker: um Yeah. do Do we want to like rate the movie before we ah wrap up?

Speaker: I think should. I forget. i Yeah, Jen, what would you rate it? um I would rate it. What's our scale? Yeah, what's the scale?

Speaker: ah I have a out of 10 rating, but we can do a five star. I'm going to rate it a seven purely because they put X two in. And I want to believe that that was to rage bait Nate.

Speaker: so Fair. Yes. Yeah. 17 years before it closed and 14 years before I even went to try and ride it. So yeah. Yeah. It was just specifically to rage bait some random man. Nate. It's it's okay. I had my thousandth coaster in it too.

Speaker: Oh, so Viper. um I miss my my mega looper.

Speaker: I gave it so i give it kind of two ratings because gave it a rating based on theme park operations and accuracy. i actually It's actually kind of high for what all talked about. It's totally normal thing to people that people in seeing games. gave it a 6 out of 10 on that because for the most part, especially as they went along, it got a little better.

Speaker: um Overall, the movie... have so many issues with the emergency break thing. Overall, the movie, it's a it's one of those fun movies. like I'll never... like not want like I'll never be like no I'm not gonna watch Zombieland like it's a good movie but it's not like you're not watching it for cinema you're watching it for fun yeah so I would give it like a seven and a half out of ten like a good a good fun movie um that's not bad you're not gonna not enjoy watching it but you're not watching it because it's Citizen Kane or anything found this on the web Siri found something on the web um yeah

Speaker: I'm not good at writing movies just because I don't watch enough movies. All right. Allison gives a seven and a half out of 10 like me. Sure. But I disagree on the ah operations ranking rating thing. Too high?

Speaker: Yeah. Okay. Four. We can give it a four. It was pretty bad. I'll give it a 3.5. You guys are really harsh. Yes. Yeah. i go i' I'm pretty close to that. I think I'd go with like a 7.3.

Speaker: Okay, that's pretty close. telling him that, yeah. Ops 2. opt Okay, yeah. Ops 2, for sure. I was talking just like the whole inclusion of it was a 6.

Speaker: But I understand, for sure. um i will I will make my rating, oh what do we say mine was? A 7.5? Yeah, I just gave you my rating. Okay, I'll give it a 7.75 because Emma Stone is in it and i love her. She is fantastic. I do love Emma Stone. Yeah, same.

Speaker: Yeah, she's really good. Yeah, it's a it good fun movie. fun movie is It's just a very fun time. the We didn't even really talk about it, but the whole ah Bill Marie cameo is outstanding.

Speaker: Yeah, that was a dumb prank. I don't know why they thought to do that. Trying to prank or that prank on Columbus is what got Bill Murray killed. Yeah. Yes.

Speaker: I do love what he's like. Do you have any regrets? Garfield.

Speaker: Jen is like absolutely clueless about why we're talking about Bill Murray. Yeah. no sorry, guys. I've zoned out. We're basically done.

Speaker: because this episode is totally only going to be an hour yeah yeah only an hour we always say that and then it's not only an hour yeah okay because i guys i can practice my thing This brings us to the end of the episode.

Speaker: Thanks, Jen. Nate has only been texting me to say it for... Not to say it, but just to... I was like, hey, we're getting close. say it Don't forget.

Speaker: How could she forget? I the last... Yeah, because she forgot last time. so Yeah, because Nate's been stealing my line, dude. Well, you've not been here. We miss you. okay but that doesn't mean that I can be replaced. Do you think replaceable person? replacing you. I'm filling in Have you ever heard of an understudy?

Speaker: I'm replacing Mikhail. Yeah. Yeah, you guys look identical, so that works. yeah we were both We were both born in the same country, so that means we're the same person.

Speaker: Yeah, exactly. Same thing. but you have a same accent Yeah, yeah brov but

Speaker: Well, thank you for joining us for this, Tim. Thanks for having me. I hope you enjoyed watching Zombieland. I did. Thank you for giving me an excuse to rewatch it because it had been too long. Yeah, it was a good time. And now Nate has never seen Zombieland 2, so that needs to happen soon. Yeah, I'd be down to watch that. Does that have an amusement park in it, though?

Speaker: only one We're just going to watch it for fun. Yeah. Fair enough. We got to watch the um the other theme park movie. Adventureland? Yeah. That's on my list for us to do not during Halloween season. Yeah. Okay.

Speaker: Perfect. Conveniently also with Jesse Eisenberg. Also with Jesse Eisenberg. Yeah. yeah I've watched that one. I like that one. I have not, so I'll have to do it for the episode. Yes. I like that one. It's been a long time since I've seen that one.

Speaker: Yeah. It's probably been like three or four years for me. but I thought it was fun. That one was filmed at Kennywood, I think. Yes. Yeah. Oh, I didn't know that. That'll be a fun episode.

Speaker: Yeah. I think and next year, if we do another movie review during Halloween season next year, we could do the final destination one with the roller coaster scene. I'm down. I recently like saw something about the actual roller coaster that they filmed for that. it was nothing like how it looks in the movie. It was a very strange, unique coaster.

Speaker: What coaster was it? It was at P&E Playland. um it was Not Pacific Playland? No, not Pacific Playland. It was where Thunderbolt is now. And I forget what it's called. Was it a Vekoma?

Speaker: It was a Vekoma, yeah. As we all go to our CDB. Yeah, um I have it pulled up. ah Playland, it was called Corkscrew is what it was called. But was a Vekoma MK1200.

Speaker: twelve hundred so there's not very many of those out there. and Yeah. But it was like tiny. It was small. It really is. Yeah, it was small because Thunderbolt's really small too. It was 75 feet tall.

Speaker: Very small ride. It looks way bigger in the movie.

Speaker: And it just has like this random like... It's a corkscrew with a bayern curve.

Speaker: I guess. What a weird drop too.

Speaker: Yeah. The more you know.

Speaker: Sparkle sparkle rainbow.

Speaker: Alright. Okay, I think that brings us to the end of the episode. Again! We talked long after that. Thanks Jen. You're welcome. That's how it always happens. We always spend an hour like chatting before the episode and then we get to the end of the episode and continue chatting.

Speaker: Anyway, go watch Zombieland if you haven't seen it or watch it again. Yeah. Yeah. Jen, go watch it and then you can re-listen to the episode and be like, okay. Yeah. You can think of about all the things you would have said.

Speaker: yeah I really wanted this episode to be... i was so real. I wanted you guys to act out the entire movie for us. That's for the Patreon. Okay, okay perfect. So we're going to do that still. So I'm not going to watch it. It'll probably be shorter than this actual episode.

Speaker: can be the four of us. We can act out everything. Well, no, I can't act it out because I didn't see it. You'll use the script. yeah I'm the audience. i need i I need somebody else.

Speaker: We need a fourth person. yeah I guess I'll be Emma Stone, but... Darn. yeah well We'll figure it out. Yeah.

Speaker: But yes. Thank you everyone for tuning in. Hopefully. If you like these movie review things. Let us know and we can do more in the future. I'd like to do more. So we'll probably still do them. No matter what people say or don't say. um But yeah. um so What's my sign off? Remember to hashtag keep thinking inverted.

Speaker: um Happy Halloween since this is the last technical Halloween season episode. And we will see y'all next time. Bye. Bye guys. Bye. Nut up or shut up
