Speaker: You are listening to the Inverted Creative Podcast. I'm Allison. I'm Jen. I'm Brian. I'm Mikhail. And I'm Nate.
Speaker: So did you guys know October 21st is a very important date?
Speaker: Is it? I did not know that. it is It is the anniversary of Raging Bull getting announced by Six Flags Great America in 1998. Happy announcement day, Raging Bull.
Speaker: It's the only thing that could be important about October 21st. I know. Actually, another thing that came up on Google was a Wonder Woman Flight of Courage was announced by Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Speaker: Happy announcement day, Wonder Woman Flight of Courage of Six Flags Magic Mountain. You're still not top three. Maybe it's top three in the park. No, you're still not top three in the park after X2 closing.
Speaker: I don't know if anything actually opened on the 21st.
Speaker: Well, I remember the 21st night of September, but October, that's a different story. Yeah, that's very different. Well, October 21st is actually the anniversary of the Inverted Creative Podcast. Our first episode aired two years ago.
Speaker: Heck yeah.
Speaker: I eventually listened to all the episodes, but I did not listen to the first one when it posted. But that's okay. I've listened to it now. You have. I also know all three of you guys. You know when you used to have um yourself yeah in the intro yourself, then Bryant, and then Jen?
Speaker: Listening to the intro just then, I completely forgot that me and Nate are now hosts. And I was expecting... I'm Allison. I'm Bryant. I'm Jen. And when I didn't hear I'm Bryant, I and i immediately thought, wait, is it just you two now?
Speaker: but Bro forgot from like two weeks ago when we last recorded what the intro sounded like. It's been the intro since y'all joined the podcast.
Speaker: Yeah, remember going, Mikhail. Like it was i was i was hundred times. I was in a deep default setting in just then. Bro reverted to just like multiple years ago.
Speaker: it's It's no longer, and I'm Jen. It's now, and I'm Nate.
Speaker: It took a little while to actually get her to re-record it. I'm Jen. yeah
Speaker: think there was like one whole episode... Or something. It was probably more than that. Where she still had the... And I'm Jen just because I had to re-overnight what we had. Yeah, there was one.
Speaker: It was probably the one where we introduced us. I added y'all to the intro music. the ne Not intro music, but the intro the next recording.
Speaker: Because I didn't want to spoil it for that. Yeah, I don't remember what the next one was after that, to be honest. I'd have to look. I mean, I have a whole spreadsheet for it.
Speaker: I'm just not on that page right now. I'm actually curious now, though. ah Architecture was the next episode.
Speaker: I remember that one.
Speaker: That's where I learned so much. I was completely checked out that episode. I think it was that episode.
Speaker: We went, that was a long episode. Yeah. That was when we learned Mikhail's a yapper. Correct. but Well, we already knew that. Mikhail, learned Mikhail knows a lot about architecture. yeah
Speaker: I can't remember what I learned going into that episode and what I already knew. Because I did look up a lot. that's probably That's probably the one I researched the most. You probably. i learned Art Nouveau was a thing. I kind of didn't know what that was before.
Speaker: now I do. and knew art whove like I knew Nouveau was a thing. I can't remember which ones I didn't already know. Or I hadn't already heard of. But.
Speaker: Either way. Oh, no, I'm a designer. What you want from me? Yeah, exactly. Relatable.
Speaker: ah I'm just ah because of um because of something Alison asked of me I'm just flicking through my old um photos that well not even old they're from like three years ago but like the photos that I took um from a couple of different Orlando trips in the past like yeah two or three years and realized and I completely forgot how many bangers I've got in these albums bangers About to get you motivated to work on editing your photos.
Speaker: Maybe. Hopefully.
Speaker: Well, at some point I will we start selling them.
Speaker: Eventually. Yeah. Happy two years of the podcast. I'm very excited. Happy two years. Around the sun. Inverted creative.
Speaker: I just got new stuff for the podcast. Like I have my ah episode notes volume two, which looks very cool. Yes, it does. don't know how well y'all can see it, but there's like a lot of like layers and stuff in that design. Definitely can see it. It looks cool. I was ah a big two behind the logo. Like Disney likes to do with all of their series now.
Speaker: I have episode notes volume two. Oh, there you go. yeah And then all of us are on the back too. And I put some stickers on there and. and but Oh, that is legit legit. That's that's like recent recent. Okay. That looks awesome.
Speaker: Thank you. I put stickers like related to y'all like um I did one of my Terran arts next to yours, Mikhail.
Speaker: Nate, you got grown up. That's insane. No. No. No. It's not? Kind of. Why not?
Speaker: Why not, Mikhail and Allison? Why isn't it insane? ah for For reasons that will be mentioned later in this episode. It's because that's at Gronilund, guys. Come on.
Speaker: ah should know this by now. Let's see. I got new t-shirts for everybody. i think that might be my new thing. It's just... t-shirts for the anniversary t-shirts yeah of seas showss i like i'm very excited they turned out really good the badge on the front's a little big but i really don't care yeah it's interesting how they did that but it was a me problem i didn't realize how big it would make it on there o so it's a skill issue sure have you shown me these yet um
Speaker: I think he might have. back home I probably showed you screenshots. That's Jen's. I won't open Jen's. i have there I have mine over in the corner, but i don't really want to get up and get it. But they look really good. They have the Zyger background and a gradient are pink and orange gradient, and then it says think inverted and see things from a new perspective.
Speaker: Oh, I think I Yes, they're cool. They look
Speaker: Shout out to Thrills, Chills, and Spills for their t-shirts inspiring me to make a new design for ours. Yeah.
Speaker: trying to think of I've done anything else like new and exciting. The awards. That's how I wanted to celebrate the anniversaries with the yeah inverted creative awards. And today we'll be announcing the winners.
Speaker: today let's stop being the same person guys today i was drinking uh watermelon water but i drank it all already so i'm drinking blackberry lemonade oh liquid ivy in water okay Oh, if we're doing that, I'm drinking pineapple organica in water.
Speaker: Wow, that's being healthy today. we all have different fruits in water. yeah Okay. Watermelon water. Suck on that, drunk riders. goofies We're a hydrated riders. We're hydrated riders.
Speaker: Oh.
Speaker: That's incredible. Because if you don't, you'll black out on I-305. Listen, I'm just trying to survive this weekend. Yeah. you A ah half marathon I'm an entirely not trained for. That's all right.
Speaker: Yeah. I'm just trying to hydrate because it's like the best thing I can do right now. Since I can't train. It's fine. It'll be fine. It'll be fine. Hopefully I'll have a story to tell on next week's episode.
Speaker: What is next week's episode? I haven't decided yet. um we you know you when You know what you should do when you cross back over the the border to Detroit? Go to CJ Barrymore. We might be doing that on Saturday, actually. Wait, what?
Speaker: We might be doing that on Saturday. Are you are you getting Mark to go? Probably not. it. I want him to go as much as possible. I know. I'm going to plus one there. Okay.
Speaker: It's a plus one for me right now, but eventually it'll be a plus three. not for us. We already have those two. so Oh, yeah. For me, it will be. So like i might as well wait. And it'll be a plus it'll be a plus four when they add the water jump that they definitely bought.
Speaker: yeah And then plus five when they add Air Force One. so No, King's Island's getting that, remember? Yeah, I know. I don't want to talk about it.
Speaker: um I was going to say something else and I forgot. but i will go back to CJ Barrymore's at some point. Oh, next week's episode. i haven't decided if I want to go ahead and record the haunt recap or if I want to wait a week for that until after me and Mike go to Cedar Point.
Speaker: Okay, fair. But then I would put the episode out in like November, so I don't know. Hmm. Yeah, that'd be a little bit past spooky season. We still have multiple trip reports to recap on Patreon.
Speaker: I know. Right, we do, yeah. Y'all need Gary. Well, y'all need Gary. We do need Gary. Me and Nate literally have seen each other like four times this week and still haven't recorded anything.
Speaker: I feel like that man's too that mans too busy. we might We might just have to. We could just do it, yeah. We could do that, yeah.
Speaker: But we'll figure that out. so As hilarious as it would be to have him there with us recapping. And also by the time this episode drops on Patreon, or there needs to be a comma there. By the time this episode drops, comma, on Patreon there will be a video in the Unhinged category that we recorded a little while back of drinking games with um my co-worker who knows nothing about rollercoaster. And we had way too much fun with it.
Speaker: Hey, you know what else? I just thought of something. um When are you and Mike maybe going to are going to Cedar Point for that? is it next Next weekend. Okay. Like next Saturday.
Speaker: If I end up, because I was talking to John Mike about maybe going to Kentucky Keenum, I could talk about that. You guys talk about Cedar Point, then we all talk about Kings Island. So I guess i guess we could push it off.
Speaker: don't know. I might put a poll up on the Instagram and see what the listeners would like. Yeah, we we live like the listeners. If November 2nd is too late to post a spooky season recap.
Speaker: the Hopefully not. Mikhail, have you done any like haunt things recently? No. so Okay. No, i I don't get out much.
Speaker: The longest show of it. um Would you like to listen to us talk about haunt stuff? It'd be nice, but...
Speaker: My must be kind of foreign recently. There's also a couple haunts in Cincinnati I kind of still want to do. Yeah. Now that I've gotten more experience. Yeah.
Speaker: You can point out Jason to me again. like I can. We'll talk about that in the episode where we talk about it. But I can point out Jason. appreciated. appreciated.
Speaker: I will say, everybody, just real quick, Allison asked if Michael Myers and Freddy were the same person. So there's that. I don't know these things. I was going to say that on the next episode.
Speaker: or the haunt episode We're going to say it again. Don't worry. i'm sure I'm going get roasted again. If you're going to talk about Michael Myers, I'll i'll bring up. um No, we're going to talk about Jason, to be fair. but We were in line for Jason, and she asked if Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger were the same person.
Speaker: oh I'm dumb, okay? I don't watch horror movies. Two people with a full first and last name. If you've not seen the movies, how would you know? Exactly.
Speaker: i mean It's just based on... but just but But still, though. Just based on the fact that they both have ah their own first and last name. kind like I thought like ah Michael Myers was like the government legal name and then Freddy Krueger was the alias. kind of thing You're thinking of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, maybe. i don't know.
Speaker: Aliases are a real thing. That's one person. It's like their pen name, except it's their like killer name. The concept of Michael Myers being called Michael Myers by somebody and his reaction is... ah Yo, yo, why are you saying my government's so loud? Hey, yo, it's Freddy, yo. Again, I don't know things, okay?
Speaker: Did you just call me by my govey?
Speaker: Govey. Don't call him Mike Myers, because then you got a completely different guy altogether. That guy voiced Shrek and had his own horror movie called Cat in the Hat.
Speaker: Because that is scary enough as it is. i was going to say Austin Powers, but... Well, yeah, that one's a little less scary than the Cat in the Hat movie, but... But, yeah.
Speaker: Um... Yeah. Anyway, the Invert Awards. Yeah, we have ah Inverted Creative Awards. but Oh, man.
Speaker: I had a lot of fun with these awards and watching all the responses roll in. um It was fun to nominate. Except for one. Except except the soundtrack won.
Speaker: Right. Yeah, no Taryn. Listen, that's okay. but Spoiler alert, Taryn won an award still. How dare you spoil it before we get into It's okay.
Speaker: We will talk about this. did not say which one. so Well, it's all on this episode anyway. Taryn did not win best soundtrack, and I'm very sad about that. But I'm happy about the winner. so Yeah, me too. That was one of the very, very close ones. Mm-hmm.
Speaker: We had a few that were very, very close. um Yeah. Yeah, there were some categories like just absolutely dominated by one the entire time.
Speaker: And then others were very close. And I'm like, please go vote in the award so we can break these ties. And then... those votes made more ties in the process.
Speaker: So um big thank you to everybody who voted and who shared like the voting link and all that. We're we are appreciative of the support in this project. um Honoring creativity in the industry.
Speaker: Very plur of you. Very plur of you, yes. Thank you. Very plur. Are you talking to me or to the people who voted? Everybody. Everybody's plur.
Speaker: Well, ah that's a lie. know they're not. but Well, not everybody's. Everybody with everybody involved with the voting for the Inverted Creative Podcast is plur.
Speaker: And that is the that is the official stance of the Inverted Creative Podcast is that all of you who support us are plur.
Speaker: I guess if you don't know what they're talking about, listen to Patreon at some point. and Peace, love, unity, and respect. I was going to say, i I did not remember what it stood for. Wow. I didn't remember what it stood for, and I wasn't there. Maybe Mikhail's not that plur.
Speaker: It's okay. You are Mikhail. youre You are plur.
Speaker: Anyway. It plurituates.
Speaker: Anyway. Nate, do you want to do your fancy like voice now? Yeah, I'll try to not mess it up. So, without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the first ever Inverted Creative Awards to celebrate the second anniversary of the Inverted Creative Podcast.
Speaker: Woohoo! And we can start now. Okay. Yeah. Not 18 minutes ago. Not 18 minutes Not 18 minutes ago. Okay. Right. Now we can start doing the award stuff, I mean. um Mikhail are you on the document?
Speaker: Yes. Okay. Nate is. I am also on the document. Now you are. Okay. It was in my other window. Because what I think what we can do is like for each of these um I can read off like the nominees and y'all can announce the winners.
Speaker: if that yeah Yeah. Yeah. That works. um And I guess we can kind of talk about some. don't We'll see what want to talk about for him. Play by ear.
Speaker: Anyway, the first category was best train design. um And I will say like for the nominees, it was taken from all the people who obviously nominated things. um Pretty much anything that got like multiple nominations made it to the final round because it shows people actually support this one and think about it in these categories.
Speaker: um Why can I not view the categories? Hold on. There we go. So, nominated for Best Train Design. I scrolled down too far. Best Train Design.
Speaker: ah Tekuani Beast at Vaughn Luxury Theme Park, which, if you haven't looked at the trains for that, gorgeous. I nominated that one just by the way. You and other people. A few others, yeah.
Speaker: I wasn't the other one. I don't think any of us mentioned that one when we were talking about When we're talking about date when we we we were talking through the categories. One the last episodes.
Speaker: Don't remember. don't think we did. But it definitely deserved a mention. Yes. Megalodon at Wallaby Belgium. e Taryn at Phantasyland.
Speaker: And Wildcats Revenge at Hersheypark. One of these things is not like the other. yeah We went off of the nominations. Ha ha. That is what say. That is my stance on this.
Speaker: So best train design. This award is meant to honor the creativity and design that goes into making the front of a train because that really can fit your theming and make the ride worthwhile and make the ride look fantastic.
Speaker: So without further ado, the vote is in. The winner of best train design is Taryn at Fantasia land.
Speaker: Woo. So it did win something. see Yeah. It was not a very long spoiler. Yeah, I was going to say it's the first one, so not a huge spoiler. Also, Mikhail, you got to do like a mini speech every time.
Speaker: About the nomination. trying to make this like the Grammys or the Oscars. And the inverted creative war goes Taron at Fantasialand. It's also not just like the zero car design. It's overall... I trying to make it sound... I don't know. I was trying to make it sound cool.
Speaker: i was trying to make it sound cool But yay, Taryn. I love that zero car. So pretty. Honestly, with those four nominations, I think the zero car had a lot to do with did all four of them. so Yeah, it did. Yeah.
Speaker: But anyway. well Congratulations Taryn. Very cool design. Congratulations to Taryn and Fantasional. I am very happy with that decision. Or that vote final. All right.
Speaker: Best station design. Our nominees are... I'm also not going to be able to pronounce one of these, but that's fine. Our nominees are Fly at Fantasieland, Fantasieland, whatever you want to call it.
Speaker: Voltron at Europa Park. Magnum XL200 at Cedar Point. Velocicoaster at Islands of Adventure. Stardust Racers at Epic Universe. And I need Jen to pronounce this, but it's Flying Dutchman. I'm going to do my best. I don't think it's great, but Vliegend Hollander.
Speaker: i thought AKA a Flying Dutchman if you say it in English. I thought it was Fleegender Hollander. but I don't know. I could be wrong. There's an app for this.
Speaker: Let's see. This is at Efteling, by the way. I think that was already mentioned. I did say that, yes. okay How to pronounce. Mikhail, after this, when the vote is in, get your speech ready.
Speaker: Waffling about station design for 20 seconds. Yeah, for 20 seconds. And then the inverted creative of award goes to. Does it not even give me just like a way to actually.
Speaker: um and um on Google translate. Hello.
Speaker: Hello.
Speaker: Sure. I don't know if that was even audible. did Did you even hear it? I heard it. Okay. I did not was just not. It was just not very loud. Anyway, yes, that one. um Station design. um Yeah, I mean, ah I feel like i feel like um this is going to be much more conversational than than Nate trying to recreate Neil Patrick Harris. ah But um station station design, it can be attributed to a lot of a lot of different approaches to be honest I feel i feel like a station design like ah a really effective station design can can um take on the life of the of the theme of the attraction in and of itself or it can just be very well stylized to fit just
Speaker: a general aesthetic um both both hold value um and they and they both can to be appreciated in different ways um depending on the context of the park that it sits in and stuff um these ones we we that we looked at them we looked at the nominations and um
Speaker: There was a good range, I'll say, between between them all. So this was this was interesting to see the votes come in and everything. um But yeah, the Inverted Creative Award for Best Station Design goes to Vliegender Hollander That was closer than my pronunciation. um i went to this website.
Speaker: a Flying Dutchman. zi hindda hotlander But that wasn't very good. it's the best I got. I want to this category was probably the closest category through the entirety of voting.
Speaker: Yeah, could I can see that. Like it changed positions multiple times. It was wild to watch. So.
Speaker: I think it's very well deserved. It was almost a three-way tie at point. Yeah, it was. It might have been a three-way tie at one point, honestly. Like every single one of these nominees got votes and was a good contender for this award.
Speaker: Yes. Even Magnum. Well. Don't do that. in even magum Even Magnum. Magnum. Don't do that. I love Magnum. It's okay.
Speaker: I love Magnum. It's okay.
Speaker: but just I nominated Kanda and I didn't make it. so Yeah, I know. i actually I actually really like that Flying Dutchman won this one. um ah do I do feel like it... um It definitely deserves it. it it did Oh, yeah yeah. It literally forced perspective inside, and it literally looks like you're in like a Viking village. It's crazy. At night, by the way. At night, yeah. like It's well lit at night. I cut ah can't remember if for definite, but ah I may or may not recall there being stars on the on the ceiling of the... Yeah, yeah i think you're right.
Speaker: Like to make it really look like you're just like in the in the like village square in the night sky and everything. It's so cool. Yeah, I i agree.
Speaker: Well, congratulations to Efteling.
Speaker: And just for being a flying Dutchman. For being not only a great roller coaster, but a great a water ride and having an amazing station. I just didn't want to try to pronounce it horribly again. So I just said congrats to Efteling. You can say Flying Dutchman. that's Flying Dutchman, but in Dutch.
Speaker: But in Dutch. if If I hadn't have told you that's what that meant in English, what would you have done?
Speaker: Would have looked up the pronunciation a lot sooner. yeah Not as we're recording. All right, next category, which is also a very close one in the voting.
Speaker: for the most part. um Best ride soundtrack. And our nominees are Siren's Curse at Cedar Point, Fly at Phantasy Land, Wilde Hilde at, was it Schwaben Park, is now at Frights at Land Giesel.
Speaker: I think I pronounced that right. Helix at Lisaberg, Ride to Happiness at Poops Land Belgium, and Stardust Racers at Epic Universe, and Allison's Ride-In nomination of Taron at Phantasy Land, which... That's how you know this was not rigged is because it was not in the nominees.
Speaker: ah Which is crazy, by the way. What we doing? Ask the to be nominated. but No, i don' I don't mean we as in us. I mean we as in like a society. The community as a collective. next The next time we do the inverted creative awards...
Speaker: I'm not sure if it'll be next year in the next or the year after that. Hopefully we'll get more nominations in a more robust, comprehensive yeah list of nominees. And Taryn at Phantasy Lane can win Best Ride the Year.
Speaker: Absolutely. Well... For the best ride soundtrack, a soundtrack can be seen as something extra for a ride, but really having a good soundtrack can truly make a ride special and make it stand out above the rest, whether it's onboard audio or just a surrounding a rat surround sound while you're in line, something that you can listen to on Spotify.
Speaker: Having a good ride soundtrack is really foundational for having a great roller coaster and a great experience. So the vote is in. The inverted creative award for best ride soundtrack goes to Ride to Happiness at Popsland, Belgium. Why are you laughing? Because I had I had a different park pop in my head and I was like, that's not the right park. And then I almost said Dupont, which is the name it used to be. So anyway, Popsland, Belgium. Ride to Happiness. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, du did it and did it and did did it yeah yeah it's hard. That's a good rendition. With no copyright infringement. we love right yeah That one is one that has onboard audio, so that helps. Yeah.
Speaker: Do you all of them have onboard audio? No. I don't think Wilda Hilda does. Wilda Hilda has surround audio that you can probably hear while you're writing it. but Same with Fly. yeah fly did Yeah, Fly doesn't.
Speaker: I guess Helix is also not on board, is it? and was not You only hear it like you? Helix is not on board. But man, I was jamming to it when I was in the station. I'm like, holy crap, this is real.
Speaker: Considering it was my ah top song on Spotify wrapped last year. Yeah. That's wild. Are you surprised?
Speaker: No. but no i don't Is Right to Happiness on Spotify? or the I don't know. I don't think it is. I think Mike always brings it up on YouTube. Might not be on Spotify.
Speaker: That's okay. That was the first streaming service I thought of. that Yeah. yeah so but just Just winging it here. Yeah. Once again, very well i feel like we're going to say that for every award. Very well deserved. Very well deserved. Yes. I mean, they are they are all very well deserved. They're all very well deserved. I mean...
Speaker: My vote of though of those that were nominated would have gone to Fly personally, but... Oh, I voted for Helix. Right to Happiness is not on Spotify. Yeah, that's what I thought. okay Well deserved.
Speaker: but Very, very good song. The euphoria that Fly's Dispatch theme specifically gives me. All of the Rundberg soundtrack, really, but like specifically Fly's Dispatch theme. It's just like me and Klugheim.
Speaker: I i was, I had a, this is a little bit of a tangent, but on one of my videos from Tripstrill from this summer, I kept pronouncing Caracho as Caracho, and I had a German guy comment and say I said it perfectly, and I was so happy.
Speaker: yeah So guys, it's Caracho at Tripstrill. Caracho. Noted. Also, this is very, very off topic, but like somewhere in a hoodie right now and I have a tattoo that's healing and it's in like the gross kind of like scabby healing phase and it just like pulled off a giant chunk of what was healing. And now I can see the color. No, it's a good thing. I can see the color underneath it now.
Speaker: It was it was the ah the color in the camera lens. Oh. Okay, that's kind of cool. i don't even chinky Yeah, Mikhail, I don't think you've seen like the updated... I can't even like twist my arm enough to show that it's very colorful now. so Let me just dislocate my arm real quick. There we go. That's the smart way to do it.
Speaker: So there's more color on it now. That looks cool as hell. But yeah, the lens just like... fully is fully showing the color now. Literally just happened like while Nate was saying his spiel.
Speaker: So...
Speaker: Congrats to to you. I mean, I'm happy because it's just real. It's been really annoying. Just like not coming off. you Because you can't pull it off. It just has to like fall off on its own. Anyway, enough about my tattoo healing.
Speaker: Congrats to Plops Land Dodge and Ride to Happiness. And I guess inadvertent or indirectly Tomorrowland Festival. Yeah, that's where a lot of music comes from, too. Yeah. That they play in the queue for their banger soundtrack.
Speaker: Correct. All right. Our next category. um
Speaker: Best color scheme. Nitro. I'm just kidding. Has it been repainted yet? No. Anything but repainting nitro.
Speaker: Anyway, sorry. um Thank you for that text, by the way, Nate. You're welcome. I did not catch that. For Best Color Scheme, we have for our nominees, Fury325 at Carowinds, Mako at SeaWorld Orlando, Taiga at at Efteling, Accelerator at Knott's Berry Farm, and Talented Dorney Park.
Speaker: Talented Dorney Park! Also, fun fact, like I put all the um park names for all these on the ah voting thing. Talon is the only one that says at park.
Speaker: All the other ones like says accelerator, not spray farm, but it's it's specifically says it's Talon at Dorney Park. Yeah, because it is. It's Talon at Dorney Park. That was the one exception I made.
Speaker: so Jen needs to go and write at Dorney Park on Talon's sign like in the park. Yeah. that would be You walk in Dorney Park, you see Talon and it says at Dorney Park.
Speaker: like kyle i believe it is For legal purposes, we do not condone vandalism in theme parks. Correct. This is the park officially doing this. Ryan, you heard nothing.
Speaker: yes No, Ryan, you heard that. Put it there. I'm going to probably encourage it. Ryan, you're you're allowed you're you're a person who's allowed to do this. Please do it.
Speaker: Anyway, Mikhail, you're reading off this winner. yeah Yes. So, color scheme. Again, like um like station design, it um can have um ah a bunch of different like applications and like intentions behind it to sell, well, to help sell a theme, sell an idea, sell a um a level of like thematic integrity or it can just look really damn cool like in a stylization like um uh we champion like uh different ones for different for different reasons um which speaks to the versatility of well creativity with theme park attractions as a whole really but like um but
Speaker: as to how we visualize um certain coasters and like how memorable they become. like The color scheme contributes a lot to that.
Speaker: And um as as does it for each or each of these nominations in in different ways. um So, yeah, the inverted creative award for best color scheme goes to...
Speaker: to nobody's surprise whatsoever, Fury325! Woo! Yay! Where is Fury325?
Speaker: Oh my god, had to think. Carowinds!
Speaker: Yeah. At Tony Park! you know the concept i didn't i was like, is he looking at his list or something? as Is he talking about where he has it ranked? No, I meant what park is.
Speaker: Yes, Fury 325 at Carowinds in um Charlotte, North Carolina slash South Carolina. Yeah. I will say, because it's in both this one went back and forth between Fury and Mako a lot.
Speaker: yeah would See, I like Mako a lot. I just feel like currently it's a bit faded. and yeah so maybe yeah's I would say is a faded. Not only is it faded, but that like the like the it's actually peeling. like it like is i haven't seen it in probably a year or two.
Speaker: No, wait. No, I saw it. I saw it in January. or I didn't notice the peeling. That's almost a year, to be fair. True, true. I saw it in 2026, is what I mean.
Speaker: You know, I will say here real quick, just because I nominated one that I knew wasn't going to get enough nominations to make it. It is maybe my favorite color scheme on a coaster is Vindfold at Tivoli Freeheden in Denmark.
Speaker: I do love that one. Just go look it up. It's a beautiful combination gold and dark teal. Dark teal is pretty good. Beautiful. And in the sunlight, when you're there in person, oh it's gorgeous.
Speaker: but To be fair, i so i did not submit nominations at all because I didn't want it to feel... rigged in any way yeah i'll be honest um i did well no that's fine i encourage you guys to um but i as the one like in charge of the results i did not want like that is that that is we're only putting my things on there i would have nominated that one vifo yes again know how to pronounce it but that's one that i would have nominated
Speaker: so I'm just reading it like it's spelled of as if it were an English word. Vindfold. Yes. I feel like I nominated Taiga, but can't remember. I genuinely can't remember or not. I could go back and look. like that But and now now that um now I'm thinking about it, it's kind of like...
Speaker: Coupling the colors of the train with the track is kind of cheating. So maybe I... ah No, I don't think so. Because it's all part of the color scheme. Yeah, it's valid. Oh, yeah. and It's not track color scheme, is it? It's like overall color scheme. Just overall color scheme.
Speaker: Yes, Fury is absolutely gorgeous. It inspired ah the colors of our dining room are painted in Fury colors. Yeah. And it's like the anti-nitro because it looks good.
Speaker: That's all it takes? Yeah. yeah That is all it takes.
Speaker: They're also kind of the same ride model. like They're both a B&M hyper model. Yes, Fury's a Giga. That's not what I mean. It's it's just you know one significantly taller than the other. Right.
Speaker: Yeah. I'll say Taiga is also very striking in terms of color scheme. Yeah. Correct, it is. but Yeah. Anything but repainting Nitro. Anyway, what's next? yeah
Speaker: Our next category. Stop laughing at me, Mikhail.
Speaker: You should have said anything. oh Our next category is best best park restaurant. um And I realized like halfway through creating a lot of these things, half the things that I had said best park restaurant and the other half said best culinary experience.
Speaker: I don't know if that would have changed anything if I had actually like kept culinary experience like I had originally... put um um it could but i think they're generally covering the same don't know there there can be different like interpretations if i had actually you know not mess things up and kept culinary experience but the nominees are ah pizza moon at epic universe potato patch at kennywood food loop at europa park and i'm not even going to try to pronounce the swedish name but railway restaurant at liseberg
Speaker: I did. And I had to look up the actual name. It's like. Yarn, yarn, big restaurant in. I don't know. The railway restaurant underneath. learned one time that Swedish is not pronounced anything like it looks. So railway restaurant at Lisa Berg is the one that is underneath Lisa Berg. Yes.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Um, so was say, Nate, this is your category. Yes. Um, So theme parks, what's something important besides the rides and the experience? It's the food. You can't go to a theme park and expect to go all day without eating every time because that's a part of the experience. It can make your day great. It can make your day not so great if you don't get the best food.
Speaker: So having a good restaurant and having good food, a good overall culinary experience is something that's very important to have at your theme park or amusement park.
Speaker: um All these nomines nominees were great, but the vote is in. The Inverted Creative Award for Best Park Restaurant slash Best Overall Culinary Experience goes to Pizza Moon at Epic Universe.
Speaker: Yeah! Which I have not had, but I've only been to Epic Universe once, so I'll probably i'll probably make a point to go there next time. I have had it. Pizza is very good. It's good pizza. It is.
Speaker: um It sounds good. I will say this category, um I knew based on the nominations alone that Pizza Moon was going to win. It was overwhelming.
Speaker: And it was the largest majority of votes for any category. That's some impressive. fun fact Yeah. Pizza Moon, I was not familiar with your game. It's a very engaging interior, I think is my way to put it.
Speaker: It's very well-fledged inside. Yeah. Which white had its garboard perfectly fits. and yeah None of us have any pictures of the inside of it for me to use for the award. Once again, i've I've only been to Epic once and I didn't go there. so the one The one time I ate that, I did not have my camera with me.
Speaker: I took three pictures of the pizza and not of the interior. That's alright. i just thought that was kind of funny. But now also, just I love taking pictures of good pizza. So...
Speaker: Yeah. Congratulations, Pizza Moon. Congratulations to Pizza Moon. I personally would have nominated a different restaurant in Epic Universe.
Speaker: Yeah, I ate the one that's in the the ministry area. Is it the serene It was a sit-down restaurant, almost. like you bought me an Aperol Spritz there, I think. It was it was giggle water or Giggle Water. Because that is the restaurant that I would have nominated. Aperol Spritz.
Speaker: Bro, I don't know what she bought me. I just drank it. It was so good, though. Not that i don't like it. I mean, like, I'm kind of indifferent to Aperol Spritzes, but to confuse an Aperol Spritz with Giggle Water is funny. Side note, I went to Italy for a week, never had an Aperol Spritz. Javi bought me an Aperol Spritz at Energylandia, took one sip, and i'm like, no. I have a video al going i have a video of going, Javi,
Speaker: ah And he goes, you don't like it? She goes, uh-uh. It was not ideal for me. um Yeah, the go-go water at Lesserine, whatever that French place is. The one where if you walk into the ministry area and turn left, that one.
Speaker: ah Me and Mikhail had a great lunch there. yep Oh my gosh, the crepes. Yeah, butterbeer crepes. The butterbeer crepes were everything. Whatever pastry, stuffed pastry thing I had. yeah Anyway, congrats to Pizza Moon though. That beef bourguignon I had is one of the better theme park meals I've ever had.
Speaker: Once you've ordered it. So guys, go have two meals. I've actually got it, yeah. yeah yeah Go to Pizza Moon and go to the Serene place that I don't remember the actual one. The other one.
Speaker: The one in Ministry. Yeah, the Serene. i don't know the name of it. It's Serene something. Yeah, like it's it's not like it's not like I don't think I could pronounce it. i straight up the The name is long as hell. I can't remember all the words in the name.
Speaker: Café Serene. Café L'Air de la Serene. Yeah, that. yeah Go there. Don't get the grilled cheese at whatever place I went to that asked for. Oh, yeah, meet your pub? Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. ash Astropub. Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Meet your Astropub. I was very lucky. gro So my friend Sean, who's been to Epic Universe for the first time recently, he went there and said it was awesome.
Speaker: So i was like, maybe I need to go back and try it again. oh God. I was so disappointed by that play. Yeah. Yeah. No, same. Like, yeah. but It was a whole ordeal. Yeah. Maybe I need to... The mac and cheese cones, though. that he said He said something about the... but like Because, I mean, like we just got food ah at Meat Yard.
Speaker: Yeah. um me op up He said something about the the bar and like just the bar experience there. So I need, a long story short, I need to go back. i need I need to go back. Oh no, we need to go back to Epic Universe.
Speaker: Terrible. Oh God, what an ordeal. ah Anyway. Well, congrats to Pizza Moon. Sorry, we talked about other restaurants in the park a little more than you, but Pizza Moon as voted on by listeners of the Inverted Creative Podcast.
Speaker: yes Also, side note, I kind of want to call these the Invertees, but... yeah I'm going to keep it how we've been doing it for now, but if we change it... It might be a little late. Maybe the trophies themselves are called Invertees. The Invertees. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, like that. All right. Best Park Entrance Plaza. Our nominees are Epic Universe, Islands of Adventure, Efteling, Cedar Point, and Europa Park.
Speaker: This one was interesting as far as like plaza versus actual entrance, but yeah i will let Mikhail do the important reading. I kind of, I mean, me personally, I kind of equate the the the actual park entrance to the the first, um the the park entrance and the first land you really walk through as kind of like the same experience because they kind of work together in transporting you.
Speaker: like into the world that the park wants to put you in. And I think um different parks do, different parks do these, they have different approaches to these depending on, you know, the context and everything. But um I do kind of think overall, um,
Speaker: it can be gauged by the degree to which a park transports you from where you are in like the real world into, you know, a complete other world or like the the the world that the park wants to bring you into.
Speaker: um I think the most effective ones really make you feel as though you're stepping into something outside of just normal life.
Speaker: So with that being said, um the Inverted Creative Award for the best park entrance plaza goes Epic Universe!
Speaker: Woo! Woo!
Speaker: I do like Epic once you enter, but man, come on. have
Speaker: i don't know. I'm happy for Epic Universe. I really do like epi Epic Universe's entrance. plan There are like three. One of the nominees was Islands, right? Yes. Yeah, that's a good one. All of these are good ones. There are at least three. Like, those those three. Epic Universe, Efteling, and Islands of Adventure.
Speaker: I have no complaints of any of them winning. Yeah, I agree. To be fair, all of them that were nominated were worthy of winning. so Yes. I just love Efteling.
Speaker: I think I voted for Efteling and i haven't even been there yet. I voted for Efteling. I've been there, but I did vote for Efteling. But it's the majority vote. um Yes. It's not just us. Like the legacy vote for me, I think would have gone to islands just because of how much that entrance has meant to me basically my entire life.
Speaker: um But yeah. Like, no, going, going through the epic entrance for the first time. Yeah, it was pretty epic. That was kind of an experience. I was like, yeah, just like going through that portal and going in and just seeing everything for the first time was like, holy crap.
Speaker: It does very good at transporting you and starting the portal theme. throughout the park. yeah And with how with how lit up that Kronos portal is at night, it makes me kind of wish the first time I had seen it and walked through it was at night.
Speaker: Yeah, I can see that. Well, but then, if you saw in the day, first you were impressed, and then you came back and were even more impressed at night to where, you know... No, but like imagine if you hadn't just you hadn't seen it like at all, and the first time you ever walked through that front portal...
Speaker: is it's all lit up at night and then the fountains are going like throughout Celestial Park. Yeah, I i agree with that. But I'm just saying like you got to see it once and be like, wow. And then you got to see it at night. You're like, oh, wow.
Speaker: Like even more like you stepped it up one. It amplified the experience. It amplified it. yeah Right. Yeah. But yeah, no, that that first time was transformative for sure. Yes, i agree.
Speaker: Yep. yep Same. Same. Well, congratulations to a Epic Universe. I had a very strong suspicion that Epic was going to be taking multiple awards.
Speaker: And it has taken two. Yes.
Speaker: All right. Next on the list, ridequeue design or best ride queue design. Somebody called me out on calling them queue lines and how that was redundant, so I did not say best queue line design.
Speaker: I guess that's redundant, but yeah. i don't know. It stuck with me, so now that's why I made sure it said Best Ride. I've definitely called them queue lines before. Yeah, me too. But that's why I call it Best Ride queue design, because it is the entirety of the queue.
Speaker: Yeah. could be Could be a dark ride. Could be a roller coaster. It was dealer's choice. Our nominees are... Velocicoaster at Islands of Adventure.
Speaker: Harry Potter and the Battle of the Ministry at Epic Universe. Helix at Lisaburg and Voltron at Europa yeah Park. Yeah.
Speaker: ride queue can be anything from a fully immersive experience, taking you to a complete other world before you even get to the ride, all the way down to just rope on stakes, pounded in the ground for a fair ride.
Speaker: um But it really elevates your experience when you can have those creative queue lines that build a story, that tell you what's going on as you come in, and and just set the stage for what's coming in the ride.
Speaker: It also gives you a bit of entertainment when those lines are long and you're standing there for a while. So, the votes are in, and without further ado... The Inverted Creative reward for best RideQ design goes to Reward.
Speaker: Award. I re life stuttered a little bit there. I'll start over. Sorry. The Inverted Creative award for best RideQ design goes to Battle at the Ministry at Epic Universe. Yeah.
Speaker: Woo. Yeah, that one that one is I mean... come on, Mike, I don't know how you can compete with that one. You literally are in the ministry of magic.
Speaker: That is like from the movies. Obviously they're in the book too, but everybody has a different like visualization from a book, but it is straight out of the movies and it's,
Speaker: It's so impressive. It's so immersive. It's so good that they literally you can walk in there without even being in line the ride to see it When when a queue has its own viewing line just to see the queue without riding the ride. you know Exactly. like That's right that when you know it's what it's worth it.
Speaker: because it is an It's an attraction in itself. It it truly is. And like even going through like the flu network, when it works. I know there was one time I went through and I was trying to get a picture and it did not go for me. I was kind of disappointed. The one time did was. I feel like I remember that. Yeah, you were probably with me for that one. think it was. um But just the queue, like, yes, it's a very long queue that you have to wait in sometimes.
Speaker: But God, is it gorgeous. Yeah. It's worth it. Yeah, it is. the Yeah, that ride. Not even to mention the how good the ride is. Yeah. But yeah, I agree. The queue's long, but I don't think there was any point where I feel like it wasn't moving.
Speaker: Yeah. like is that and I didn't really have a long queue line for it, so I can't speak on that. And just like the details that you see throughout. Like there's that one. i'm trying not to be. on There's going to be spoilers in this episode. don't don't how else to avoid that. um But like there's one area where it has like the vacuums or something. And there's just like coffee cups on the bench as part of the theming.
Speaker: It's so cool. And then all the cats in Umbridge's office and. Yeah, it's it's awesome. It's it's all inspiring. It's impressive. It's crazy to look at and believe that you're there.
Speaker: Pictures absolutely do not do it justice. They don't when you're in there at all. Not at all. Yeah, i didn't I didn't even really feel to take photos in that room just because i need and i need I need to spend some time in there before I decide like the photos to take in there to really like do the do have to do that whole justice. Yeah, i agree. um Because like you can really just get swept away at the sheer scale of the of that room.
Speaker: um This was also a vote that just was no competition what whatsoever. Yeah, that one that's fair. Ministry had 43% of the vote.
Speaker: Dang, dude. That's wild. Yeah. peace Very clear winner for that one. Yeah. Impressive. Very nice.
Speaker: Congratulations again to Epic Universe. I know I said something about like congrats that, but getting these awards that we knew it was going to get and then looking at the next category, i'm like, oh, we're about to get another one.
Speaker: All right. Our next category is best merchandise. This one was very open to interpretations. We got a lot of nominees. um We got some like creators. We got parks as a whole.
Speaker: We got specific rides in parks. um Whatever. I think we even had like nominations for like stuffed animals. i I had a nomination for a whole chain, me the Merlin chain and their residents. So there was a lot of variety of nominations and how people interpreted best merchandise. But that was my little ah intro spiel to the best merchandise category. Where our nominees are.
Speaker: Energylandia. Hyperia at Thorpe Park as its own line of um of merchandise. ah Made to Thrill. And Dollywood.
Speaker: Yeah. um So merchandise is... is Obviously there's a wide range of what it could be and what parks can sell to make, you know, make a memory um to represent a ride that you may love, to represent a park and an experience that you may love, or just just to keep a piece of memorabilia, just to remember your experiences there. There's a whole wide range and use of merchandise um from parks. And it really means something when a park or
Speaker: or a creator or or a chain or even just a specific ride has merch that makes you feel something. And that and that is kind of the point of having good merch. And it's it's a great win. um Anybody leads by example of making some great merchandise.
Speaker: ah Without further ado, the vote is in The Inverted Creative Award for Best Merchandise goes to Made to Thrill. Yeah. I'll speak on made to thrill for sure, because made to thrill holiday world basically is exclusively made to thrill at this point.
Speaker: And not only are his designs like really cool and all the voyage ones I've seen over the years, he made the Ron Swan and Ron Swanson shirt, um the good gravy shirts like that's all been made to thrill stuff. ah The posters. The land sea airtime.
Speaker: The Lancy airtime, the posters, the all there's been so much merge with holiday world, which is ah I love that because it's my home park. Well, it's my home park forever, no matter where I live. But yeah, it means a lot to me that I can have really quality merge for my home park. And he's a big part of that, not to mention some of the other places. I think I remember letting know there's a Kumba one um and I know there's other parks that I can't think of necessarily off the top of my head at the moment.
Speaker: But not only that, but the whatever shirts Made to Thrill gi They are high quality shirts. They're on the level of like comfort colors, dare I say. Like they're really high quality shirts. So very, very deserving award here. um i hope more parks like contract made the thrill. um A lot of times now, like he's been doing a lot of like posters for just like new coasters.
Speaker: Like I know there's one for Tormenta. um a lot of times when a new coaster is announced, he also does a new poster for it. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, awesome stuff.
Speaker: Yeah. I think Mike has a few downstairs. Yeah. I know I have a lot of holiday world merch by made to thrill. So, ah so I just want to point out, I am kind of repping three of the four nominees right now because I love park merchandise. I'm wearing a energy landia hoodie. I'm wearing a Dollywood shirt. And then right next to me, I have a made to thrill pin that I bought for our friend. Yeah.
Speaker: I mean, i will say Energylandia, despite them having European sizes, which is not great for me, um has some great merch when it comes to like the shirts and stuff they have. Spent so much money there.
Speaker: That Coasterholic shirt is awesome. I love my Zadra shirt. The Zadra shirt, the Hyperion shirt, the Hyperion hoodie that you're wearing. Like, yeah, very cool stuff.
Speaker: Apparently Mikhail also needs his Audrey shirt after realizing what was on it. Yeah. And not to mention that like for a while. Well, still, it's still my favorite shirt. It just has holes in it now. My Hyperia from Thorpe Park shirt. Yeah.
Speaker: We're that all ah wear that all the time when it didn't have holes in it. Like we kept twinning while wearing that shirt. Yeah. Great shirt. Fantastic shirt. Perfect shirt. Dare I say. Yeah, Hyperia had of good merchandise. Magnificent, even. I have a little resin of Hyperia, too, I love those things. Oh, yeah, I remember that.
Speaker: Yeah, the Merlin Parks love a resin. Yeah, and I love that because I really wanted the Nemesis one, but I couldn't get it in my bag. It's too big, and I couldn't ship it home because, you know, U.S., U.K., U.S. Kyle, when are you going back to visit the U.K. again?
Speaker: it's I don't know. One of his Alton Towers. Maybe. see I actually did not buy much from Alton Towers. I just bought a a mug and i I love the medals that Merlin does. so i gotta to call i didn't I didn't either because the what I wanted I couldn't bring home. Alton Towers have been i been stepping up their merch stuff for a little while. They've got some got some really good shirts.
Speaker: There was a Wicker Man shirt that I wanted to buy, but... um
Speaker: ah think I think I was operating on like a budget of a budget the last time the last time I went. So I think I was saving money for um ah future parks in the trip. But yeah, Alton Towers definitely has some good stuff. I love my Nemesis mug that I have. It's one of my favorites. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, the new the new store um the new store, the new Phalanx store that they opened when they redid Nemesis into Nemesis Reborn. um I actually forgot to go look in that store, but um think I think i remember seeing I remember seeing some videos of like, they had some really good ah really good shirts, really good jackets, um and then some, like I think i think that are think they had a really cool coaster model in there somewhere as well, of some kind.
Speaker: We love merchandise. I love getting to spend money. Not parks. All yeah
Speaker: right. Next category. We're getting into some of our ah comprehensive ones. We have our most creative overall experience, park. So this overall best creative experience.
Speaker: We have Phantasyland, Epic Universe, Europa Park, and Tokyo DisneySea. so I mean... Yeah, how do you pick them? Or how do you pick them?
Speaker: I mean... with wood'sal We're talking about, like... I mean... Maybe the four most, like, intensive theme park... like The most perfect yeah top four nominees you could have.
Speaker: Definitely not V4. There's definitely more as well. but um But yeah, I mean... Not the only four, but... Yeah. Great four. Yeah, I mean... as...
Speaker: it's it's hard to as much as We're all coaster enthusiasts as well as as well as theme park enthusiasts. Well, I mean, let me speak for myself. I am a coaster enthusiast and theme park enthusiast equally.
Speaker: But when it comes to creativity in execution of a theme park, I rarely look at amusement parks for that. ah really like as much as much as i As much as I love Cedar Point, as much as I love Six Flies Magic Mountain, um you know the the ah the other ones that we can all that we can all name,
Speaker: when i think When you think of like a creative park experience, I mean, with the quality that you know the likes of Phantasyland, Tokyo, DisneySea, Europa Park, where whichever, Epic Universe, even down line, Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, the quality of the experience that they give, you can't like kind of oval overlook in terms of their ability to just transport you to make you feel like you're not in the real world anymore anymore. Um, I mean, we've, well i mean, we've, we've all had it stood in the middle of, um, a really, uh, really truly immersive on all aspects, um, themed area and feeling like you've forgotten the park that you're in. Like I've, I've definitely had it multiple times.
Speaker: Um, um,
Speaker: Yeah, um there's the I feel like i feel like ah theme parks and design firms um of the of the highest order in in our industry are just are just becoming better and better. like they're They're pushing each other.
Speaker: to be able to come up with um even more and more creative experiences, even within the realms of like the IPs that we all know of and, ah and, you know, and love and stuff, as well as like your original ah storylines, that excuse me, the that are created and fleshed out and executed the highest level in these parks and stuff.
Speaker: um It's a lot of incredibly, incredibly good work being done by by um you know teams um all over the theme park world so with that being said um the inverted creative inverted creative award for most creative overall experience in a park goes to fantasia land yeah agree
Speaker: Yeah, one of my favorite parks in the world. It is my favorite park in the world. And well, I have one above it. Yeah, know. And yeah, it's just it's so immersive. I mean, it's just there's no break in immersion like anywhere.
Speaker: Well, the front entrance, but... Well, I didn't even go through that, so it didn't even I wouldn't... I will say... Phantasialand is not a park without its flaws.
Speaker: I will say that. but Every park has flaws. Yeah, for sure. um But just the highs it reaches... you read you're like You're rarely going to you know just like exemplary work like that that is just so in your face and just all around you everywhere.
Speaker: like Almost anywhere else. You know what? No. It's perfect. Perfect. Everything. Down to the last minute details.
Speaker: that's a quote that's a That's a reference. yeah i I know. I don't know. but It's Homelander from the boys saying that.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, one of my favorite things about Phantasialand is... And and this is this is really the this is really the first park that I have seen this done intentionally and other parks have observed and built upon it, is how it not only is not only is everything just around you thematically, but it's on three levels as well. There's things above you, there's things on your level where you're standing, where you can look around and see things, and there's things below you as well. There's there's level there's levels to um a lot of a lot of the lands. You can stand in Mexico. You can look out towards Chiapas and then look down to see like the lay the bottom lay of the land as well. um You can do that in Klugheim.
Speaker: you can look up and see Taron. You can look across and see Taron. You can look down and see Taron. You can see Taron. Yeah. And like there's, it's it's a fully 360 degree multidimensional visual experience. And me being as visual of a person as I am, that that that just scratches the itch in my brain like more so than anything else, really. um
Speaker: And like I said, like I love how other parks have have have been inspired by that and learned by that. way You see a lot of those same design elements in Epic Universe as well. um amongst Amongst other things. but yeah just I feel like Phantasialand was really revolutionary in a truly...
Speaker: visual experience no matter where you're looking not just around but also up and down yeah absolutely gorgeous park all around yes
Speaker: is that it for the thoughts yeah yeah i don't have any more thoughts it's just perfect yeah including like on-site hotels too like i kind of consider that and yeah Yeah, it even goes another level.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, so that's a whole other aspect of the creativity of the evolution. Where else are you going to have a coaster wrapping literally wrapping itself around a hotel?
Speaker: Yeah. Other other than Ruckburg. Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Those coasters were pretty close to the hotel room. It was kind of cool. Yeah.
Speaker: All right. Next category. Most creative overall experience for roller coasters specifically. Our nominees are, speaking of, Fly at Phantasy Lane. no him Voltron at Europa Park.
Speaker: Velocicoaster at Islands of Adventure. And Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Yeah. had to do the full government name. We got it.
Speaker: Or, you know, the govy, as Mikhail called it earlier. Yeah. Did you just call me by my government, Harry? but um
Speaker: ah Yeah, I mean, like one thing one thing that that that I was kind of expecting for this one, um for most creative overall Cozart experience, you notice how all of these nominees are really new?
Speaker: They're all from, like, last, like, four, five, six years. They're all relatively new new coaster editions. And I think that's seven years ago.
Speaker: Whatever, you know what I mean. ah And I think that's that that speaks to that speaks to a level of execution and dedication from parks and design firms when it comes to really taking the time to execute a theme and a thematic idea with not only family thrill coasters, but also high thrill coasters as well. You see Voltron and well done how well done of a thematic story and just attraction in itself that is but beyond it just being just a really good thrill coaster obviously um a real i i I think that parks are doing a continually better job as the years as the years go on of being able to give us truly high quality themed roller coaster eggs um experiences
Speaker: So, um the invertive creative Inverted Creative um Award for Most Creative Overall Experience Coaster goes to Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Woohoo!
Speaker: Yeah! What a long name. I know. Nomination for longest theme park roller coaster name. i was going to say, for the ride, it might be Harry Potter and the Battle of the Ministry. but Or, yeah, or Gotham City Gauntlet Escape from Arkham Asylum is up there.
Speaker: Gotham City. Oh, yeah. They don't have Arkham Asylum in the name. But also, I think just with Hagrid's, Hagrid's name feels so long because it doesn't flow well. like is Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. It almost feels like there should be a comma in that. Yeah.
Speaker: but There's an imposter, I think. and There is. Hagrid's is a fantastic experience as a coaster. Truly, like, the first... Unless... I um'm um um but i may very well we just be missing something obvious, but, like, i miss the first, like, family thrill coaster to really just have, like, such a...
Speaker: like thoroughly fleshed out storyline like yeah through line in all of its animatronics and different themed scenes that it goes through as well and like 28 different launches on that thing and stuff And like all the way down to the ride vehicles themselves, like being a motorbike and the sidecar, just like Hagrid's has. And you go through these different areas that are all part of the forbidden forest. And, and, you know, end the ride and, oh look, she's a mom.
Speaker: You know, i don't know. Just the whole thing is pretty incredible.
Speaker: Yeah, it's so fun. Yeah. The animatronics on the ride, the the spoiler warning drop track.
Speaker: um Yeah. Just an absurd amount of moving parts. Yeah. To that whole thing. to i mean, it was the entire incredibly creative to make the drop track be you getting loose from the vines that you're in. Yeah, Devil Snare. I couldn't think of the name.
Speaker: Yeah. Just really cool. Yeah.
Speaker: I was going to say something else about it, but I forgot. ah um I did get a front row night ride on it on the bike at one point. um I haven't gotten to ride on the bike portion as much.
Speaker: um Just, you know, because of tall people who always got the motorcycle and I had to be the sidecar. um Yeah, getting a front row night ride on the motorcycle was just peak experience on that ride. The motorcycle is significantly better.
Speaker: I agree. It just is. it's just It's more open. I've only ridden the sidecar once and I was like, I'm not doing that again. Not because it was like tight or uncomfortable or anything. It's just better on the on the motorbike.
Speaker: i agree. Yeah, probably. um i've i've I've done them both ah a bunch of times. um I kind of just like, yeah, you probably say objectively like the, the, the motorbike is the more, I guess just the better experience of the two, but yeah.
Speaker: I, if I, if I'm in the sidecar, I'm not mad at I'm on Hagrid's. Well, right. You're right at Hagrid's, yeah. nice joe
Speaker: Oh, and the queue going up to it as well. Awesome. adds a lot to the experience. As well, shush. And thank you, Universal, for taking for taking off Express.
Speaker: should have never been there in the first place. but right as well do also like That is not built for Express. Shut up, Nate.
Speaker: Listen, y'all are the ones who neither of you can say inverted creative awards correctly, so... I haven't heard you try it yet. What did I just say? no and when you're reading it for an award, it's different.
Speaker: I have, I've been reading all the nominees. Thank you. All right. Speaking of our next category, favorite theme park content creator. Um, this was very open-ended.
Speaker: Um, there were quite a lot of nominees and I'm very happy with the ones that we have on here. Um, so i know Thank you to whoever nominated us as well.
Speaker: like Yeah. Shout out to you guys. That made my heart happy. I think even if we had the most votes, I wouldn't have actually given it to us just because I don't feel like that's fair. There is some bias. but
Speaker: Anyway. um Our nominee is for favorite theme park content creator. We have Coaster Studios, El Toro Ryan, Emblem Images, High Rollers Podcasts,
Speaker: Some people call the inverted creative podcast. Who's that? Amusement Insider. And That's So Mid.
Speaker: Nate, your chair is squeaky. I know it's squeaky. I need a new chair. It's fine. This one's 10 years old. Get an ergonomic chair. It makes no noise.
Speaker: Yeah, I know. This didn't make noise for the first nine and a half years that I honed it. Jeez. Yeah. don't think it's nine and a half months yet. Yeah. So... yeah um so Content creators. We love them. We know em we are them.
Speaker: We are them actually. um It's a great way to continue your hobby and continue to ah just enjoy yourself with theme parks, roller coasters, all the experiences that go into it, whether it's watching someone else, that park you really want to go to, or just um having an analysis and breakdown of like how a ride operates or just, just having fun talking about stuff.
Speaker: um Content creators, they make they make life more entertaining. So without further ado, the vote is in And the inverted creative award for favorite content creator goes to el Toro Ryan. Yay!
Speaker: Shout out to El Toro Ryan because that's like one of the first ah YouTubers, Coaster YouTubers I watched back in the day when I really started getting into it. I would watch Coaster Idiots a bunch. so Good job, Yeah.
Speaker: and obvious yeah yeah Yeah, and obviously the the um problematic roller coaster videos are very, very popular. And also the ones that I've seen are very, very good. so And just the amount of time I'm sure he puts into those. Like they are so in-depth. Yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah Dude's really smart.
Speaker: Yeah. He can also tell you what a block zone is. Yeah, what is a block zone, by the way I don't know this, Beale. um Hold on a second.
Speaker: For those of you who are unfamiliar, a block zone is a section of ride that only one train may occupy. At the end of a block zone is a method to stop a train in case the block zone ahead is still occupied. This is the safety system that prevents roller coaster trains from colliding with one another.
Speaker: Thanks, Jen. What? know I like how you said that perfectly, but not the name of these awards. all that That's that' salt if nothing else. was i was reading I was reading that one and I don't know if that makes a difference. i was reading that one. I just thought it was fun. That was that was an i was an impressive level of pay.
Speaker: Yeah, know. Am I wrong? Wow. It just goes to show that El Toro Ryan is very deserving of this award because it can be recited perfectly. Yeah. I as well i as well do also recite things perfectly.
Speaker: This is why Coaster Focus did not get nominated. Wow. I didn't even nominate myself, okay? ah So no one was going to nominate me if it wasn't me.
Speaker: ah Sorry, that was funny. But no. Altura Ryan, you are incredible at what you do. Keep doing it. Keep doing it. You are obviously very appreciated for what you're doing.
Speaker: Mm-hmm.
Speaker: And just, if anybody is listening and is... He's been staple for a while. A long time, yeah. Yeah. I'm kind of curious to look up how long he's been on YouTube. Alright, YouTube. Please don't play anything random on.
Speaker: I mean, I've been watching... i mean... i was watching Coaster Idiots like at least 2019, I think. Joined YouTube August of 2010.
Speaker: Okay. That's a little while. Yeah. yeah um Yeah. For anyone out there who is considering um creating content for whatever you're passionate about, passionate about, it's worth it.
Speaker: Do it. As long as it brings you joy, it's valuable. Yeah. in In most cases. Unless trolling brings you joy, maybe don't do that. so As long as he brings you joy, you know. yeah. when i did and When I deal it back, she doesn't like it.
Speaker: I was not talking about you. oh sorry. saying in general. Oh, in general. In general. In general, yeah. Thanks, Jen.
Speaker: All right. Our last creative, I guess we'll say, um category. This is a special one that I wanted to do where...
Speaker: It was nominating anyone or anything. It could be a manufacturer. It could be a specific ride. It could be a park, an individual. um Anything that our listeners feel is showcasing creativity and innovation in this industry.
Speaker: So incredibly open-ended. We wanted to hear why people really, my brain just died halfway through that, but all you know what I'm trying to say, right?
Speaker: yeah Yeah, I was waiting for you to finish. I know my brain died. um i was I was going to say, I kind of think you should do this last one as well. I mean, that's kind of what I'm doing, honestly. Yeah.
Speaker: Just who whatever in the industry people think showcases innovation and creativity for any reason. um And I did ask for, like, little quotes as to, like, why people thought of these things.
Speaker: um And there were a few... um things that got like a couple nominations but I think these were the solid three that had the highest number of nominations that felt absolutely deserving of this award and it does get a special trophy it's a little bit bigger um but the nominees for listener choice for creative legacy was universal creative mock rides and Vekoma before we announce the winner yes who did you guys nominate who did you guys um nominate
Speaker: I didn't do nominations. Okay, so who like do you who would I have nominated? I'm yeah pretty sure I put Vekoma in there. I don't know who I would have nominated specifically.
Speaker: What was the reason that you put Vekoma? No. Well, because of the Vekoma Renaissance, basically, like them coming back and then them being the ones to push the envelope in the past few years, the tilt coasters, the new smooth track, fly the flyer, like their new launch coasters. They're they've now become one of the premier um like a manufacturers out there so uh really that's why is the the Vekoma renaissance is basically what I'll call it going from the 90s SLC clones and boomerangs to what they are in today nice yeah who who would you have um who would you have nominated if you had awesome i I don't know I'll be honest
Speaker: like not necessari Not necessarily to like for to say on any of the three. just like yeah just now i i just thought it would be nice to hear who we would have. um I feel like I probably... lack a better term. Just thinking about the episode that we had with Morgan's Wonderland and hearing about some of the rides that they did when we were at Golden Tickets recently. The Wings ride that won an award.
Speaker: I would probably say Zamperla for the effort that they're doing for inclusion and like hearing how closely they work with Morgan's Wonderland to create inclusive experiences.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: i didn't I didn't realize they work so closely with... Yeah. Hey, if you listen to the episode that we did with Richard Pertlow of Morgan's Wonderland, we go in depth with that a lot, actually. Like a year and a half ago. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, it was a while ago.
Speaker: Also, shout out. I will say i was very happy. Someone did nominate us for this category. um They said inverted creative, bringing a fresh new flavor to the theme park space. o Look at this. Yeah, i'm kind of I'm kind of scrolling through some of the responses. um Mikhail, you had a niche one, I believe. So this is why I asked the question.
Speaker: Yeah. um i I just thought it'd be nice to hear who who we had in mind for this award. Yeah. Because um I also ah wanted to...
Speaker: um Well, not that wanted to do this, but like i i um when I thought about this award, i um my mind instantly went... Not instantly, but like very quickly went to um the teams that were behind um some of the...
Speaker: best and most creative indoor coasters that have opened up recently. um Those being Warner Brothers World and that Warner Brothers World in um Abu Dhabi and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. And I felt to shout out ah PGAV Destinations, um a design firm based in St. Louis, Missouri, and um the ThinkWell Group.
Speaker: um Or, it's not They used to be called the Think Well Group. I'm blanking on the name, but they used to be called the Think Well Group. They did a lot of the creative design and planning and conceptualization of those two parks. And I don't know if either of you have seen anything do on either of those parks anything. Yeah.
Speaker: either either of those call or anything um among Among the the most like intensive themed experiences you'll find anywhere on planet Earth. like just like the The degree to which um their themed experiences have been fleshed out and executed. At one point in... um i think it I think it might be in like like the the central um ah space area of Warner Brothers warner brothers World. um The ceiling, basically... um
Speaker: The ceiling is painted to look like the sky, basically, and it switches from... um daytime to nighttime like at the at the at the time whatever time it is and like you can't see you can't see where the what where like the surrounding buildings end you can't see where the sky um starts or anything like that um And then like a whole host of their attractions are so well done um and and everything. And SeaWorld Abu Dhabi might just be one of the most awe-inspiring themed experiences I've seen put together. can see it. Or anything.
Speaker: um there's just this There's so much to comment on. go on on. But... You could write a whole like dissertation on it. Yeah. no i like um I mean, I have no plans to go to Abu Dhabi anytime soon, but I probably have to see that park at some time in my life.
Speaker: Because... um it's just like i'm just the videos i've seen from it just have me just gawking at my screen just like how could how how does this exist like um so yeah uh yeah pgav destinations uh the design firm formerly known as the think well group um ah working with, um I think it's Miral experiences out in Yaz Island. um
Speaker: just but um but unbelievable work i like to be able to put those together honestly I don't understand how there hasn't been more in like more demand for indoor theme park experiences in countries like England and the UK where it's where it's always where the weather's not good like most of the time but yeah
Speaker: That's my, that's, that's who I. That's your thesis. Yeah.
Speaker: There were some good nominees. um I was very excited to get this award or to see who would, who people would vote for on this award.
Speaker: Am I award? Am I announcing the winner? four Yes. Okay. Okay. For the Inverted Creative Award for Listener's Choice for Creative Legacy. See, Nate, I can do it, no problem.
Speaker: Damn. Listen, he called me out on an earlier. I had to say something. um The award goes to Mock Rides. Woo! Mock product perfect, baby. Mock product perfect. Yeah. ah This was a very close one for the entirety of it.
Speaker: um Understandably so.
Speaker: In the end, Mok pulled away with 43% of the vote. That's They truly are. like Especially like looking at you know things like Bacchanawa and the innovation with that.
Speaker: I'm very excited to see what they do. Between that and like Voltron, oh yeah those are kind of my two big things I think of for Mok right now. Just...
Speaker: Incredible stuff. Really? Since Time Traveler? Yeah. They've been like consistently pushing the boundaries of what could actually be done with their, I guess specifically their themed, with that with our um with their thrill coasters.
Speaker: um And with the themes behind those as well. But like you see like you see the you see the development that they push themselves to achieve just from time traveler to ride to happiness alone.
Speaker: Right. Was unreal. i hate
Speaker: And you see you see them um ah coming out with just like the weirdest, wackiest like elements on inversions and things. um See, Bakunawa.
Speaker: i was going to say Sea Hyperia. True. When I first saw the ah the sort of like the concept ah image come out for that ride, I was like, that's Mark doing that?
Speaker: What is that going to ride like? It sounds like rides really well. Yeah, it's like it has no seats. Yeah, oh something like that. You might lose your seat.
Speaker: i don't know. Yeah, I don't know. I still don't know if Nate ever found his seat. It's been set to happen. I didn't know if it's not there. it's
Speaker: Yeah, Mock is doing some incredible things, and I'm excited to see what else they do. Mm-hmm, me too.
Speaker: All right, shall we get on to the podcast-specific awards? Yeah, we should.
Speaker: So the first one was a Best Coaster Enthusiast Conversations guest. um This was a new format I kind of introduced last year, earlier this year.
Speaker: Whenever we went. It was, i think it was earlier this year. Whenever we went weekly, um just kind of as a chance to talk with people we know about how they got into the hobby and what they're passionate about in the hobby and sometimes what do they do creatively?
Speaker: Cause you know, it's a creative podcast. So we do talk about creativity. Um, it's been really fun. i know I heard from a lot of listeners that they love these episodes, just hearing people's stories.
Speaker: Um, and I love talking these stories with them. I think I'm the only one who's done conversations episodes so far, so but if y'all have anyone you would like to have on,
Speaker: Go for it. Let me know. okay um Should I go through all of the nominees for them? There weren't really nominations for this one. It was more. Yeah, let's just read the awards. Here's all of the people who have done these episodes. um I won't list the episode numbers, but um so far we have had eight conversations episodes.
Speaker: We've had Alex, Ethan, Brayden, John Mike, Matt, Meg, Brambo, and Mike. Basically, we're just running through the Buzzbars Coaster Club.
Speaker: But with an overwhelming majority, the favorite Coaster Enthusiast Conversation guest was John Mike. Woo! Yay, John Mike! Yeah.
Speaker: John Mike, I wanted to get him on with us today. I thought it would be fun to tell him that in person that he won the award. Or not in person, but live. Like on this, yeah. Yeah. um But he's not able to make it on tonight, but I did um send him a picture of his trophy as I assembled it.
Speaker: Um... And his response was, assume that's for prototyping the awards. And I'm like, so I sent him a screenshot of the results and he said, that can't be right. But I promise you, John Mike, this is very.
Speaker: it is right. You're. participation in that episode was very appreciated. um I know we got a lot of comments about it because you kept saying that you wish you could go to Poland and then when that episode dropped you were in Poland. with You were in Poland. That was very fun. um I do want to listen back to that at some point and hear everything that was said in regards to not going to Poland and how good of a fast one he pulled on me for that.
Speaker: But also just he's got a lot of good stories. And he's also one of my best friends. So it was a lot of fun having him on for an episode.
Speaker: and we Yeah, we love John Mike. We love John Mike in this household. We do. Everybody knows him. Everybody loves him. Our favorite friend, John Mike.
Speaker: All right. um Best creator interview. um Originally, I thought about, like, including... the we ended up or I ended up doing two interview categories, best creator interview and then best industry interview. I did feel like they need to be separated because they're just kind of different types of interviews, so to speak.
Speaker: um But we've had a lot of creators of all different kinds um come on and talk with us about what they're doing, what they're creating. um We had, like, 10 people in this category. Yeah.
Speaker: Um, easily our biggest category to date. Um, so the quick run through of people that we have had on over the past two years, uh, Gary of coasting with culture, Laurel of thrills on film, Gina of GC artwork, Riley of that. So mid Caitlin of unleashed access airtime, Mike, which I could have put on here. He's part of what coaster cousins and,
Speaker: e Coaster Idiots. Yeah, Coaster Idiots. There we go. yeah um Side note, finally i got to meet him. It had been a while since we had never met, and I finally got to meet him last weekend.
Speaker: um Anne of Books and Roller Coasters. Nessa of Infuriated Plum. Chris of Chris Goes the Distance. And Sam Cooper of Park Day Magazine.
Speaker: And Midcourse Blues, I believe it is. Yep. um So there are a lot of creators to choose from. Am I also doing these? Yeah, just do all them. Okay, I'm just going to do all of them. um And the inverted creative award for best creative interview, or best creator interview, I guess, is to Riley of That's So Mid.
Speaker: Woohoo!
Speaker: That was a really good episode. I love that episode. Yeah. Riley's so much fun. Yeah. yeah Side note, I need to find out when he's coming to America again so I can get him his trophy so I don't have to ship it to Australia.
Speaker: I'm not sure how that would go. um you just put it a box, put the address on it, I'll take care of it That sounds so expensive. In about um a month or two. yeah But no, Riley is such a fun person. That was a great interview, learning about GeoGuessr and the mystery wheel.
Speaker: um And then I got to meet him at Hollywood Nights. I think it was Hollywood Nights, some something. It was at Holiday World, but I got to meet him in person. It was very cool to hang out with. Such a nice guy.
Speaker: Incredible creator. The editing he does on his videos is so fun. Yeah.
Speaker: Great stuff. um Watching him on Sundays is just like sacred. else Like anytime we have people staying with us every Sunday morning, we're watching Riley's new video. So.
Speaker: And he's on the ah if you watch his videos, he is on the road to 100K on YouTube. So make sure to go subscribe to him. he Yeah. There you go. Helping you out there, Riley. To our dozens of listeners.
Speaker: Yeah. Who probably already follow you anyway. Our tens of listeners. Yes. But no. Congratulations to Riley.
Speaker: We love you. Yes. Yeah. Congrats. Um... And then our final actual like voting category is for best industry interview.
Speaker: We've not had a lot of these. i do hope to change that in the future. I want to do more of them. um But generally anybody like in a professional role in a park that we've gotten to talk to about their experiences in that role and the creativity that they bring to whatever their role is.
Speaker: Um, So the four that we have had, ah Gabriel Doretta of Sesame Place. He was our first, like, industry interview that we had on the podcast two years ago.
Speaker: Very nice guy. um Richard Pretlow, when we talked to him, he was at Morgan's Wonderland. He is now at Six Flags Over Georgia. um But I put Morgan's Wonderland on the voting form because that was where he was when he did the interview with us, and that was what that interview was focused on was Morgan's Wonderland. Mm-hmm.
Speaker: Ryan Eldridge of Six Flags Great Adventure and Dorney Park. And Jacob Latabe of Anakista. Which dropped right before the awards.
Speaker: Right. Snook in there for the last second. He really did. And it was only because um it was originally scheduled to be like after the awards announcement. um But we had like some shifting in when things were released.
Speaker: So he was able to be eligible for this award. And the inverted creative award for best industry interview goes to Ryan Eldridge.
Speaker: Yeah. Ryan. ah That was such a fun interview. Ryan is so cool. Yes, he is. um Very good at his job.
Speaker: Very good at bringing fun to the role, which anybody working at a theme park should be bringing fun to the role. Very dynamic. Yes, that's true. i think this I think there's a lot of value to um communicating developments at whatever park you're working at via content creators who are delivering news to said community already anyway.
Speaker: Yeah. i feel like i should I feel like that should be happening much more much more like frequently than it does, is the um Parks using the content creators as a bridge to to the Parks fans.
Speaker: Absolutely. And that's something he's very focused on right now. yeah you can you can tell yeah in like eltoro ryan's videos like of the developments of ah like a six five great adventure as well and collywood studios as well um i know those are two that that he works like pretty frequently with um they had those they both had a drinks name for them yeah they did i did see that i did see that one that was hilarious
Speaker: um And he is also, you know, in part helpful for Talented Dorney Park. Indeed. You got bonus points for that one.
Speaker: Yes. I'm sure Jen is especially appreciative for that reason. But yeah, congratulations to Ryan. Congrats. Yeah.
Speaker: Congrats. Yeah. So the one final thing for us to go over I debated if I wanted to announce these on the podcast. It's kind of more just fun for us, but it's worth sharing, I think. We can go through them quickly. Yeah. We're almost at two hours.
Speaker: So the way I had these set up. So I wanted to do superlatives for all the co-hosts. In part, I wanted a trophy for all of us, but also I just thought it'd be fun as like the tier anniversary and, you know, what is most memorable about us for the podcast, I guess, so to speak.
Speaker: um So listeners nominated them. um We put all of those nominations up to a vote between just us. So we all got to vote for are a our other co-hosts superlatives. so these So these names are all from the listeners?
Speaker: So, okay. Is that what you're saying? Shout out to Ethan who did like his superlatives that he nominated were all like the blank award. um Which are not All of these um were not ones that he did, but I really liked how he named them.
Speaker: So we took whatever superlative was voted on and gave it a name. Oh, okay. And then tweak the tweaked a couple of things to make it work, I guess.
Speaker: Right. But yes, these were originally nominated by listeners and voted on by our other co-hosts. um Honestly, so for mine...
Speaker: It is the Commitment Award. And I honestly, I saw this one. I'm like, yeah, that's honestly me in a nutshell. so we take it For being most likely to overwork and exhaust herself for the good of the podcast.
Speaker: ah Yeah. yeah um I've had moments where I'm like randomly texting podcast things in the chat and Jen's like, do you ever not work? I'm like, no, no not really. don you Why would you have a thing?
Speaker: So, but yes, I i spend a lot of time on the podcast. um It is my passion project. Absolutely. Absolutely. Um, usually like when I'm, when I'm at work, I have an hour for lunch and I'm usually in my car eating lunch and working on podcast stuff.
Speaker: And that's my break from work is doing podcasts on the same design programs that I use eight hours a day at work. Yeah.
Speaker: i I relate heavily to that to be honest yeah workaholics unite always doing some stuff do workaholics unite but later because we're too busy right now right
Speaker: am I reading all these or do we want to um I can read I can read the next one we can just alternate okay You read yours, but I'll read Jen's, I guess, next. Okay. um So Jen has the inclusion award for making sure that Talon at Dorney Park, Efteling, and Ahsoka are included on every episode that she's on. Yeah. And a few that she's not.
Speaker: that's right and i few that she's not yeah So that's Jen's award. Thanks, Jen. Thanks, Jen. like It's called a thanks, Jen award. Yeah, thanks, Jen award. The thanks, Jen award.
Speaker: and It should have been like we could have done like the conclusion award. Yeah. I'd have to. We'd have a half to have a vote between her and me on that one. Even though it's her thing. I've said it a lot now.
Speaker: Yeah. True, true. The Athleticism Award.
Speaker: the athleticism award Wait, who is it? Goes to Ryan. Oh, never Being the most likely to go a little too hard at dodgeball. ah Which is just hilarious.
Speaker: with The Halliburton Award. Basically. The Halliburton slash Dame slash Jason Tatum slash who else? Anybody in the NBA with a number zero.
Speaker: yeah context brian tore his achilles playing dodgeball yeah also context three of those guys that you named were the number zero and tore their achilles yeah in the nba yeah yeah um but yeah brian um we love you and you were trooper when you did this it was on the coaster cruise that yeah with coaster studios. Um, so it was still coaster related. Um, did a hike in Mexico, I believe with the torn Achilles without knowing it was torn yet. Wow.
Speaker: Road iron shark with the torn Achilles. Wow. Um, And yeah, I know he documented his recovery on a lot of episodes of the podcast and getting back into coasters, yeah back into parks once he was recovered enough. Did any of you did did anyone did any any of you think that his recovery was crazy fast, by the way?
Speaker: five For whatever reason, I thought, like, but this when he got to a point where he was, like, already with the cast, well had the cast off, I was like, That seems really quick. I don't know. He did everything he needed to to recover well. He did what he needed to do.
Speaker: I listened to those episodes after and out of order. so i didn't have a timeline. We were joking about NBA players all tearing their Achilles and stuff. I think I was equating it to the timeline of and NBA players going from torn Achilles to cast off to walking and running and jumping etc etc getting themselves back to like playing like actual like five on five contact basketball to actually back on the court playing nba level basketball that's yeah a little bit different too yeah like that's not really the same thing um i think that's why i initially thought was was just just like jesus that was a quick turnaround
Speaker: Daniel Jones tore his Achilles in, ah i think, December of last year, and he's already playing football, unfortunately, for the Colts right now. So so that was a quick turnaround. i just thought that was funny.
Speaker: Yeah, I'm glad he's doing all right now. Yeah. yeah um Nate, do you want to read Mikhail's and then Sure. I can read in yours. Nate. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: So Mikhail gets the eloquence award for being detail oriented while also having the most elegant British accent.
Speaker: barry true And the typo trophy. Yeah. I'm getting it fixed, okay? For being detailed or detailed oriented. I'm getting it fixed. Among other things that I need to get fixed on those.
Speaker: Yeah. Ironic that I misspelled detailed oriented. Yeah.
Speaker: But yes, there were a lot of nominations regarding your voice and your speaking knowledge. Yeah. Yeah. your Your contributions to the podcast are very appreciated.
Speaker: You are all welcome to me being British. Yeah, we just we just needed the token British guy on here. Thanks, Mikhail. In the worst British accent you've ever heard. that's right That's really what the podcast was surely missing. Yeah. A ah British person.
Speaker: ah No, it's fun to joke on. um And I've known Mikhail for many, many years now. I was actually just looking back at the pictures of us when we met at Universal. Yeah, it has been a little while now.
Speaker: And I knew he would be... Once he was ah a podcaster without a home, I know I needed to ah adopt him for Inverted Theory podcast. Yeah.
Speaker: Because you're so well-spoken and passionate about creativity in theme parks. Yeah. There really was no other podcast for me to go fit for you.
Speaker: Yeah. And we're very happy to have you. Appreciate y'all.
Speaker: you want to read it or I was going to read out Nate. You're reading, Ryan. What are you doing? I'm failing. That's what I'm doing. We're two hours in and I'm tired. um For Nate, um we have the Inside Joke Award. We're always bringing up the Groniland joke whenever someone says the word insane. Yeah, because that's where that is. It's at Groniland.
Speaker: Come on, guys. Come on, guys. That is a roller coaster at Groniland in Sweden. How many times do I have to say it?
Speaker: How many times do I have to teach you this lesson? o I do love that this has just kind of become your pet peeve turned just running joke of the podcast now.
Speaker: Yeah, well, i start. Yeah, because I started before I was on the podcast and then. Some people on this podcast say it quite a bit. So, well, do to this is your El Toro right in line. That's what, that's what this is. It is kind of. Yeah.
Speaker: It's just my, like, yeah. And like the amount of people who have also picked up saying it now is kind of funny. And there will be the rare occasional other roller coaster that works for it. And yeah, so like someone will say, oh, that was a big one. And and then someone will go, no there's a book especially if I'm an attendant, someone will go like, no, that's at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Or like someone will somehow say wicked naturally. And they'll be like, no, that's a lagoon. So he's a legend.
Speaker: Right. No, that's a holiday world. So that so it can't happen with others, but most of the time... no not kings um That's not natural enough.
Speaker: Do you see it over there in the back? no Yeah, you guys are trying too hard. um Yeah. it bre Blame Gruneland for naming the coaster that, okay?
Speaker: And then I went and made... a They turned me into a monster. That's also a Groniland. And then, you know, I went and made a Insane Groniland a milestone on my honeymoon trip because I had to.
Speaker: It was very close to where I rode um Insane in my count because a Wildfire Colmarton was my 750, but it it was still within the 750s, I think, when I rode Insane.
Speaker: I did ride 750 on Insane. Right, I know. That's what saying. We were close to the same thing. um Yeah, once I knew that I was coming up on um on that milestone and I knew where I was going to be for that milestone, I'm like, I have to make this work.
Speaker: And I did. All for the joke. It was all Nate's fault. Yeah. Sorry. And then even at the wedding, um you worked insane into your speech and Ethan from the audience. Yeah, shout out Ethan again from the audience saying it Heck yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: I was hoping. some Some others said it. Like, he wasn't the only one, but I heard Ethan the most. I think he's the biggest supporter of... The insane joke? Yeah. yeah mean yeah He's the one who ah wrote that nomination out, too. I can say that. Right. Yes.
Speaker: So, congratulations on your superlative. Thank you. um And that brings us to the end of our awards. Thanks, Jen. Yeah. Not quite the end of the episode just yet. We have one little thing.
Speaker: i have a note on here for the future of the podcast question mark. That sounds really ominous. There is a future. There is, yeah. like there we're not There will be a future. yeah we wing i no not at all. um Quite the opposite. No, I am looking forward to growing this podcast. um We have a lot of ideas um for episodes coming up. We have some...
Speaker: I guess not series necessarily, but like we've, you know, we've started this like coaster focused series on highlighting specific roller coasters. um We still want to do some what if episodes. We have at least one um creator episode that I need to schedule, but there, i already know they're down for it.
Speaker: um We have our Patreon, which we really need to post two more, but I'm working on that. I may or may not have a guest for Coaster Enthusiast Conversations coming up. I still have to ask this person if they want to do it. so Have you even told me who it is?
Speaker: Yes. Okay. yeaht remember I don't remember who you said. If that happens, that may be the first episode ever that Allison's not Yeah. That was when I was nominated for was the Perfect Attendance Award because I have been on every single episode so far.
Speaker: Because I've also run all the Conversations episodes. I'm waiting for someone to break my Perfect Attendance. That might be it. We'll see. I was going to mostly so can have a break for a week. I have to talk to anonymous person about this. Who said who said the the conversations one had to be just one host?
Speaker: that was That was the original design behind them was being one-on-one conversation. Oh, okay. all oh Speaking of one-on-one conversation, Allison disappeared for a second out of the podcast. Oh, did I? oh Yeah, she came back real quick. You did it, Jacob.
Speaker: Okay, so it should be fine yeah for the audio, but I'll still check it. Check me. Okay. um Yeah, we have a lot to look forward to. I have a nice shiny new notebook for all of our ah episode notes coming up, so I am prepared. Yeah. um Oh, one thing I did want to say is like,
Speaker: These creative awards were all inspired by deep dive episodes that we did over the past two years. um So if there are certain awards that you would like to see us hand out in the future, give us suggestions for some creative deep dives we could do.
Speaker: um Because a lot of awards in the future will probably be pulled from future deep dive episodes. Fun fact. Yeah. Which is also why I'm kind of thinking of doing this at like the four-year mark.
Speaker: um Do it every two years and we can kind of accumulate two years worth of episodes to talk about. Makes sense. Yeah. Yeah. That's probably a good way to do it. so be Yeah. Bi-annual. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. And also I put a lot of work into these awards. Like there are physical trophies involved that yeah are from the print shop. I have a whole stack of them in a drawer right now. um I'm waiting on more fasteners that I ordered to arrive tomorrow and I have to fix some nameplates that I messed up. So.
Speaker: I got to figure out how to ship a lot of these to Germany. Yeah. And Belgium and Netherlands. Well, I believe that, Brie. It's funny how you realize how much... Okay, okay. much of a... No, was literally just going to say, it's funny how you you realize how much of a process it is when you don't have, like, a team doing it. It's not like, what is you doing everything?
Speaker: um But no, I... I've been very excited about these awards for a while. I've been working hard for a few months behind the scenes on things. um i still have to make all the, well, so a few more of the um winner graphics that I will be posting.
Speaker: When you're listening to this, probably tomorrow. If you're listening to this, the day it drops, I will probably post them tomorrow. If you're finding out about, yeah, if you're finding out about this later, you should probably know the winners by now. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: But no, I had a lot of fun putting everything together and highlighting creativity and just seeing what our listeners are most inspired by in the industry. Yeah. Your hard work is very much appreciated.
Speaker: Well, thank you. It is. And this is why I'm giving y'all trophies too. Yeah. But they're just kind of cool and I'm excited for y'all to get yours in person. Yeah.
Speaker: Well, i believe that brings us to the end of the episode, guys. Thanks, Jen. didn't even get to say it. I was waiting. i was like, okay, we're done now.
Speaker: And then Mikhail starts talking the exact second. Yeah. Sorry, that was just very well timed. Twice. and Yeah.
Speaker: Just mute Mikhail on that.
Speaker: ah yeah wasn't even to say It wasn't even to say anything like... It's a Ravenclaw thing. Like, long-winded. We talk at the same time every time. We you wait the exact same amount of time before we start talking.
Speaker: That's what it is. It's literally just like, we're both like, okay, it's been long enough. And then we start talking. Yeah.
Speaker: I hate that that's actually kind of true. Yeah, no, it is. It's exactly true. We're both like, okay, now it's time to talk. And then we just both do it. That's what you get for bringing yappers onto the podcast. Yeah, true. Yeah.
Speaker: I was trying to end the yapping. It was time for thanks, Jen. Anyway. Anyway.
Speaker: Allison, you can talk now. Oh, I was kind of hoping you would say it again so I could interrupt you instead of a Kyle. Oh, I'm was supposed to say it again? oh okay. That's what I was waiting for. I believe that brings us to the end of the episode, guys.
Speaker: No, what I want on top instead Kyle?
Speaker: I'm not saying it again. know. It already brought us to the end of the episode. Well, sorry this has gotten a little um out of pocket, but this is a fun episode. But we are idiots. Deal with it.
Speaker: yeah Not coaster idiots, that's taken. Yeah, and they got an award for it. Yeah. um World's biggest coaster idiot. That's an award right there. um Yeah, one last thank you to everybody who nominated for the awards, voted in the awards, shared anything about it to get the word out.
Speaker: um This would not have happened without support and engagement. so Hopefully we can make it even better in the future. Bigger and better. Now I got to make new trophies again in the future. That's going fun. Anyway. um In addition, as I'm saying on my thank yous, you know, for the award ceremony, I also want to say thank you to our Patreon supporters for your incredible support in addition to all of the engagement.
Speaker: um So thank you to Chris, Jeff, Alexander, Barbara, and Nick. And also shout out to Chris who just did the um Chicago Marathon and set up new PR for himself. so Oh, heck yeah yeah. Way to go, Chris. um Yeah. He ran a marathon faster than I will run a half marathon this weekend. Just pointing that out. Wow. Yeah.
Speaker: Fast boy. It's insane. No, that's a grin on. But yeah. Thanks, Nate. Yeah, you're welcome. But anyway, congratulations to all the winners. um i'm very I'm very happy with this and how it turned out.
Speaker: um And your reminder to always hashtag think inverted and think creative and think awards. Sure. Think awardee.
Speaker: Think awardee. Invertees. Yeah, something, something. See the awards from perspective.
Speaker: Seeing the awards from a new perspective. I need to figure out how to make like literally like inverted awards next year, but i don't know how to do that. Yeah. I don't know. have a couple years to think about it, I guess, if I'm waiting years.
Speaker: Anyway, thank you all for listening. Thank you for the past two years of podcast love. And we will see all for the next two years. Hopefully. Yeah.
Speaker: Peace. Bye. Bye, mom.
Speaker: Bye.
