Jeff: What's that?
Jeff: Nice.
Jeff: No, man. Bulletproof.
JT Spangler: Get it while it's hot.
Jeff: Damon Wayans. Adam Sandler. This is gonna be good.
JT Spangler: Do I?
Jeff: is what I thought.
JT Spangler: ah yeah This movie has an 8 % on Rotten Tomatoes.
Jeff: Dude, that is the perfect spot for it.
JT Spangler: 8%. out of 100, I would assume.
Jeff: It makes me angry, though. You know this could have been funny.
JT Spangler: I may be the person who likes this most of anyone in all of the known world because I was fucking delighted.
Jeff: Oh, man. The whole time I was watching, I was like, what the hell is this? Why? What the? It just kept getting further and further from God's love. And it was making me angry. Like they just kept adding new things.
Jeff: like And it was only 84 minutes. They packed a huge plot in there.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: ah jeff I don't know.
JT Spangler: I just i always kept thinking about like thinking about all the stuff they cut out of this to get it to 84 minutes because you know they don't plan for it to be 84 minutes.
Jeff: did
Jeff: Right. Yeah.
JT Spangler: Um, Audience scores gave it a B. out of uh out of the on cinema score so that's kind of more where i'm at but
Jeff: Of course. Of course. Of course they did. Um,
JT Spangler: Movie Life Crisis Season 6, Episode 17.
Jeff: Wow.
JT Spangler: Bulletproof. The Adam Sandler, Damon Wayans classic action comedy two -hander.
Jeff: Buddy. Cop. Action. Stuff. thing. ah Dude, i dont I don't know. I remember watching this and laughing. I didn't do any of that this time.
Jeff: There are funny parts, but I don't have to i don't know.
JT Spangler: Oh, dude, I...
Jeff: I don't know
JT Spangler: I wasn't like laughing so hard I was falling off the couch, but there was a bunch of stuff where I was like, ah, shit, that's where that quote is from. I forgot about that.
Jeff: Oh that's nice. See, I'm thinking like. This is Peak Damon Wayans. He's right off of... Major pain. Adam Sandler's right off of what you call it.
Jeff: Billy Madison. And I'm like,
JT Spangler: Between Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, he cranks this one out.
Jeff: That's what I'm saying. Dude, I'm thinking this is going to be good. there's going to be a lot of good but de go type Adam Sandler, but I'm okay with that. Like, that's funny. I don't. Dude, I don't know.
Jeff: I just...
JT Spangler: I mean... I...
Jeff: The whole time I was just like, what is this guy doing? Who's that guy? What is he doing here?
JT Spangler: Bye. I was thrilled.
Jeff: I don't know
JT Spangler: I was I was like, oh, shit, I. Cause I own this and I saw it a bunch and I was like, I remember. ah I've forgotten how much I like this. movie um not that like It's a great work.
JT Spangler: and everyone's going to talk about it as the part of the Adam Sandler run of the mid -90s.
Jeff: Right, no, yeah.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: But... I... Highly. uh I remembered a lot of it and I really enjoyed it.
Jeff: I don't think Adam Sandler wants you to remember this is the mid -90s Adam Sandler run. he there was one little thing that popped up on instagram when i was looking stuff up and he said uh he basically the person was saying like he disowns this movie he doesn't want any part of this um that's It's not that bad, but...
Jeff: It's not great.
JT Spangler: My favorite quote is from the director, Ernest Dickerson, who said, like, years after the movie's released. He's like, there's a movie I did a couple years ago called Bulletproof. I'd like to just erase that whole experience.
Jeff: yeah
Jeff: Oh, that's great. Um,
JT Spangler: I wish I knew more about the story because I don't think it's that bad as 8 % and a erase from history.
Jeff: I got to be honest.
JT Spangler: we've covered way worse movies.
Jeff: it's You're totally right. It's not 8 % bad. um But it's not, ooh, fresh tomato's good either.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: It's... It's somewhere between there.
JT Spangler: ah Gary, give us the synopsis.
Jeff: ah All right. LAPD undercover officer. ah who is played by Damon Wayans. ah befriends a petty car thief who is actually trying to get into something bigger.
Jeff: uh who accidentally shoots him when a crane hits his head and his gun goes off and jack survives and archie gets away the the Thief gets away. And then the whole rest of the movie is him trying to get.
Jeff: Back. To get to RG. so he could take down his new boss but then there's a Oh, 80. who's a girlfriend and a physical therapist. Who's also a bad guy.
Jeff: And then another guy. who's about i just there's There's astonishing amount of plot in 84 minutes.
JT Spangler: Colton can get to anybody, man. James Caan, you cannot mess with him.
Jeff: Did he? Unless you stand behind him because he turns like this.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: ah No, no, no.
JT Spangler: It's...
Jeff: Can't move his neck. Just all shoulders.
JT Spangler: Oh man. So awards. No, wait, yeah hold on.
Jeff: No.
JT Spangler: Let's do the budget. $25 million dollars budget.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: $22 .6 million dollars gross. including, uh,
Jeff: What, they lose about 8 % on that?
JT Spangler: arousing $1 million. dollar $1 million dollar international. Box office. Not a huge.
Jeff: Oh, that's great.
JT Spangler: Not big legs on this. Not a big international movie.
Jeff: That's great. It opened at number one, though, because it opened on Labor Day weekend.
JT Spangler: Bye now.
JT Spangler: Yeah, it opened at number one because it opened on a weekend when nothing else was happening.
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: Uh,
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: Yeah, it's so awards.
Jeff: Um... Well, as we talked about, this movie got hammered. Adam Sandler was nominated for the 96 Razzie for Worst Actor. Uh, The nomination covered both Bulletproof and Abby Gilmore, which is weird to me because I don't think.
JT Spangler: sir
Jeff: Nobody was watching Happy Gilmore and been like, oh, this would have been such a better movie if it would have been Daniel Day -Lewis playing Happy Gilmore.
JT Spangler: Right.
Jeff: So that's weird. But James Caan also received the Stinker Award. For the worst supporting actor in Bulletproof. Um, which is also, I could see that kind of, ah but the soundtrack did all right.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: um Soundtrack had like Wyclef and Casey and Jojo and Rahsaan Patterson.
JT Spangler: Yeah dude. Soundtrack has some good songs on there.
Jeff: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
JT Spangler: Soundtrack ah reached number 85 on the Billboard 200 and 23 on the top R and &B albums, which is higher than the movie did on the movie charts.
Jeff: the boy yeah There's Chuck.
JT Spangler: Not really. if It finished the year at number 74, right between the Quest and a very Brady sequel. The quest, by the way, for those.
Jeff: Ooh.
JT Spangler: Who? might not remember is when Jean -Claude Van Damme goes to Tibet to track down an ancient artifact and ends up fighting a bunch of people.
Jeff: Um, The last part I knew was going to happen, but I didn't know he went to Tibet. i i don't I've never seen the quest.
JT Spangler: I've... i am a big supporter of john claude van damme i've definitely seen the quest a bunch of times
Jeff: yeah I've seen the very Brady sequel, though. No.
JT Spangler: I have not seen that
Jeff: See you on the seesaw, Cindy. Dude, that movie's hilarious, but.
JT Spangler: Yeah. Did not catch that one.
Jeff: Yeah. yeah
JT Spangler: Um, But yeah, sequels and spinoffs, I was flabbergasted to find that there was a...
Jeff: Eat. ah
JT Spangler: 2020 sequel. to this movie that was direct -to -video that had Faison Love. in it.
Jeff: ah Yeah, and Kirk Fox, that's the guy from... ah uh, Parks and Rec that works at the garbage place that's always hitting on Leslie Knope.
JT Spangler: Yes.
Jeff: He's pretty funny. um So I didn't make it through. I had a really long break today because I didn't have lunch duty. So I have a little over an hour and a half. So I'm like.
Jeff: That's it. I'm going to try to watch ah Bulletproof 2. I found it on the internet. I started watching it. 24 25 minutes in i was like all right i could find a better use for my time Not good.
JT Spangler: Yes. of Of course, I can't believe that's probably why you are so upset about Bulletproof because you watched 25 minutes of the direct -to -video sequel from 2020.
Jeff: Not good. It's...
Jeff: no no i'm not dude let me tell you it's not i was upset after watching the other one because i was i don't know dude i was thinking of something else i think i had it set up here with those two
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: I just had it. i had it I had it set so high. jim and i just started talking to me uh i had it set so high that i was upset when it didn't happen i don't know
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Don't watch the sequel though.
JT Spangler: I... ah I was not, I didn't even know it existed until 20 minutes ago.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: I'm definitely not. Gonna.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: At no point did you say anything approaching a coherent sentence, and we are all dumber for having listened to you. May God have mercy on your soul. I didn't. um i had this on dvd i watched it a whole bunch because and i've re -watched it in the last 10 years Because when I watched it this time.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: it was completely fresh in my memory, but I couldn't remember.
Jeff: So sorry.
JT Spangler: I couldn't believe how many. things from this movie. uh got into our Like... got into our language and we said to each other, like, Adam Sandler, that's some shitty shit you did to me, man.
JT Spangler: We... Used to say that all the time.
Jeff: Say that all the time. Yeah.
JT Spangler: That's where that came from.
Jeff: I can remember getting pushed and falling on the ground and going, man, I got to learn to fight. This is getting embarrassing.
JT Spangler: Hmm.
Jeff: I definitely said that. I definitely said that.
JT Spangler: No. There's a bunch of stuff in this movie that I say, like, Disneyland.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: I love it.
Jeff: See you later.
JT Spangler: Say it again. Disneyland.
Jeff: Dude, there was a behind the scenes thing where they were talking about that. and Damon Wayans was just trying to get Adam Sandler to break at that part.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: That's hilarious.
JT Spangler: Yeah, he didn't know he was going to ask him to say it again. That's why he's like laughing in the shot.
Jeff: it
JT Spangler: Um, So yeah, so I... uh
Jeff: I also own this one.
JT Spangler: I liked this.
Jeff: I also did.
JT Spangler: I liked this quite a bit. It's short. It's really quotable. I thought it was really funny and the pacing is tight. Uh, And it's just, and to me, like it's an easy action comedy to like. Put in the rotation.
JT Spangler: Uh, I was like every 10 minutes. something would happen that I had kind of forgot. I'm like, oh, dude, Monica Potter. I think this is her first movie role.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: Yeah. Like, Damon Wayans starts the movie freaking wearing a, like, sideways leather cabbie hat and some crisscross overalls that are, the straps are unbuttoned and hanging down like in a Sister Act 2.
Jeff: in the bar.
Jeff: Dude, he had some like um suspenders holding his pants, but the pants were way too big for his waist.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: So they were like moving around. He looked like ah the guy who comes out. and cleans off the stage at the Apollo. He was ringing. That was crazy.
JT Spangler: And, like, it was a good soundtrack. I just... ah i
Jeff: The end. That bar was good.
JT Spangler: I had like... More than three quotes. I give it a six and a half out of 10. I would. so ah easily watch this again.
Jeff: Damn. Nice! That's... um That's awesome.
JT Spangler: And I didn't think it was going to be Happy Gilmore, so I wasn't like mad.
Jeff: i don't No.
JT Spangler: that it wasn't.
Jeff: See, I didn't, I knew, I remember it like, oh, that's not as good as Happy Gilmore, but it's good. And dude, I don't know if I just been. like when we talked about it last time we were doing it like dimmy land i had that in my head and then i watched that part and i was like yeah it was funny but then i got it confused with the damon wayne stand -up where he's like da god take do didy that like that whole thing so like
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: I don't know, dude. The whole time I was just like, yeah, this is a tonal mess and it's. A lot of dated 90s humor. I feel like it could have been funnier. I wanted it, even though the pacing was fast and 84 minutes.
Jeff: I wanted it to go faster. Like I'm glad they didn't. show James Caan and why he's scary because it's freaking James Caan he walks in the room and he's scary so like I get that.
Jeff: But I don't know, man. It just took me a while to get into it. And then by the time it finished, I never got into it. So I gave it a five.
JT Spangler: Yeah. um I was like. Finding stuff that I'd forgotten about and was enjoying it the entire time. Um,
Jeff: did did it When did the Rahsaan Patterson song play? Did it play at all? Was it in the credits? I didn't watch the credits.
JT Spangler: i didn't I didn't hear it. I wonder if it was in the credits. I was trying to find the soundtrack so I could read the whole like list of it, but I...
Jeff: I don't...
JT Spangler: Um,
Jeff: Dude, the whole time I was just like, I couldn't wait for baby, forgive me.
JT Spangler: There it is.
Jeff: And I was like, come on, let's hear it. And then they never brought it in. Cause I remember this is why I know the song.
JT Spangler: Yeah, where you are, I don't know.
Jeff: For those of you who don't know who Rahsaan Patterson is, which you probably don't, ah he was on Kids Incorporated with Fergie.
JT Spangler: Dude. and
Jeff: and Mario Lopez. um And he's a singer, R and &B singer, and he does a lot of soundtrack stuff. writes a lot of stuff for other people we listen to.
JT Spangler: Yeah, dude, Rashawn. uh I can't remember if I told you this or not, but I was in like in an Old Navy or something like two months ago, and they were playing like a Rahsaan Patterson deep cut.
Jeff: Ooh.
JT Spangler: that I don't even think I had heard, but I just recognized his voice and I just asked the guy checking me out.
Jeff: Nice.
JT Spangler: I was like, is this Rashawn Patterson? And the guy was just like, mhm. And like we left the store and I was i told my wife, I was like. I'm gonna be honest. I am furious that that guy did not give me.
Jeff: Any more...
JT Spangler: More credit for that because nobody.
Jeff: Nobody would have got that.
JT Spangler: Nobody knows that shit. Like nobody, a thousand people might come through that store and no one will know Rahsaan Patterson.
Jeff: It was like...
JT Spangler: And that guy was like, yep, sure is.
Jeff: Maybe. Maybe he feels like he works at the High Fidelity record shop. He's like, who is this?
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: <unk> responded patterson It's good. I know.
JT Spangler: Yeah. But yeah, this ah this is a really good soundtrack, dude.
Jeff: Uh...
JT Spangler: Until the day. uh nonchalant That, for all I know, is the only song they ever recorded and released, but I always liked it.
Jeff: Oh yeah.
Jeff: Um, Dude, this is the whole reason I even know Rosanne Patterson. So this is.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: This is my jam.
JT Spangler: It's worth it just for that. i will i you would Would you not have known him from... ah Oh, no, that's Raphael Sadiq. I was thinking that video where he did with D 'Angelo where they're sitting on the apartment. Ports just like...
Jeff: Oh, yeah.
JT Spangler: playing.
Jeff: Be here. Be here.
JT Spangler: Yeah, be here, but that's Raphael Sadiq.
Jeff: Yeah. Yeah.
JT Spangler: Anyway. Um, All right, man, let's do scenes. What's your first scene?
Jeff: ah The first one I have is... um they're walking through the desert uh it's the agony p scene
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: um They're walking through the desert because their plane just crashed and they had to get out of it. And Damon Wayans has got the chain that's wrapped.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: That's connected to Adam Sandler's cuffs. And he's like, dude, I got to pee. He's like, all right, I'll give you 15 seconds. He's like, no way. I got to pee. I got to take it out. I got to shake it. That all takes time.
Jeff: now you got 10 seconds and he's like come on and he turns around starts paying he's like time's up and he's like i got pee on me Um... Uh... I don't even know why I would tell this story on here, but I'm going to, I can remember having to pee so bad. And we went through a neighborhood to get around traffic in Baton Rouge to get to Kyle's.
Jeff: apartment one night uh to go out and um johnny said dude just pee out the door right here nobody's even on this street so i opened the door and i kneeled on his seat and i was peeing out the door and he jokingly pressed the gas and the door swung and just latched
JT Spangler: Yeah.
JT Spangler: ah
Jeff: And I was pushing on it. And P was just filling up the little map the map compartment. And when I finally opened it up, I put a leg down, which made... my junk slide into my pants and I peed down my pant leg. And the whole time I'm in the car going, I pee on me.
Jeff: Uh, and it was from this and I totally like, I'll never forget that.
JT Spangler: That. uh i I remember like more than one. More than one and less than ten times. like someone would pee out of a truck that was like idling. Like we just would be like, just be like, creep not like dangerous, not like highway speeds, but like creeping along like two miles an hour.
JT Spangler: Just because we thought it was funny.
Jeff: Yeah, hilarious.
JT Spangler: Um, And that was not on my scene, but I love i loved that one because he was like.
Jeff: no
JT Spangler: Adam Sandler just freaking just, she's like. He's like, all right, that's it. He's like, eventually you're going to sleep and I'm going to pee on you. And that's worse because that's.
Jeff: And that's worse. That's worse.
JT Spangler: That's going to be my, see, this is my pee on me, but you're going to have someone else's pee on you. And that's worse.
Jeff: Yeah. Oh man, I don't want anybody else's pee on me.
JT Spangler: Yeah, let's go ahead and just put that out there. My first one is the ah early on when we still think that. ah Damon Wayans is his like car thief buddy. We don't know he's an undercover cop. They go to do the like drug bust.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: I mean, it's the shootout and it's Adam Sandler's like. he's looking He's like, look at this guy. He's not a cop. This guy, I know him as well as my own brother. And he unzips his like track suit and he's got a... like wire taped to him.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: And then everything just they just all start shooting. And then. Dude, and the part that I always remember is Adam Sandler picks up the freaking dog and is holding in the gun to the dog's head.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: And he's telling Damon Wayans, he's like, drop it or I shoot the dog. And he's like, no, you won't. You love animals. Get out of here, you stupid, ugly dog! And now... Dude.
Jeff: Look at him. me He's licking me. He loves it who
JT Spangler: He just got done, that licked his balls, and now he's trying to get that taste out of his mouth. Another. Well, we used to say all because you see a dog. Licking his balls all the time.
Jeff: Yes.
JT Spangler: You can just use that quote. ah But yeah.
Jeff: Um, I do that.
JT Spangler: And then after that, dude, he he runs out. He runs into James Caan and the wrestler guy. and James Caan's like, wait, he's like, what'd you say? You said if he was a cop, you would suck my, hang on, how did you say it? And I was like, I don't, he said, I didn't say that.
Jeff: Mm -hmm.
JT Spangler: He's like, I think maybe blood. So said that.
Jeff: And then he just punches him right in the nards. Um, Dude, I have a question about wires. I know they're not the same anymore.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: But even in the 90s, was that the best place for it? Like right in the front? Like. With the why?
JT Spangler: I don't, well... It's a lavalier mic, so you have to put it on the front of you because it's picking up only stuff that's close by.
Jeff: I don't know where to put it
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: like it's
Jeff: Right. ah Can't you have it like over here?
JT Spangler: I don't think.
Jeff: Like if I unbutton my shirt. I don't know.
JT Spangler: Well, it's going to you're going to get better sound if it's like not going through fabric.
Jeff: It's just it's just right in the middle.
JT Spangler: I mean, I guess like a better way to do it is to do like the freaking NFL sideline guy with the like parabolic dish and have someone up in the rafters.
Jeff: Yeah.
Jeff: Yeah. but
JT Spangler: Uh... But they don't want to do that.
Jeff: i just it's see I know that all the movies, especially in this time frame, people just had it taped to their chest.
JT Spangler: that Well, the that part's not bad.
Jeff: Um.
JT Spangler: The bad part is in this. Time. in like in this era he had to also have like a full -size freaking tape recorder where the regular cassette tape like tapes to his freaking thigh
Jeff: Leave a message after the beep.
JT Spangler: He's like walking around. Yeah, he's walking around with a whole boombox taped up right next to his junk.
Jeff: It's just... Yeah, that's... That sucks. That sucks bad.
JT Spangler: uh but dude adam sandler's quips in this movie were cracking me up because i i don't know if any of them were scripted but a lot of these guys he's like i don't think i think maybe blood so said that like all of that shit get out of here you stupid ugly dog like all of that shit was making me laugh
Jeff: Um,
Jeff: yeah
Jeff: um Yeah, that was quintessential Sandler. I like that. that kind of stuff
JT Spangler: So yeah.
Jeff: Um.
JT Spangler: That was my first scene
Jeff: my ah My second one is the motel scene. Um,
JT Spangler: Yeah. That's mine.
Jeff: when he i like the part when he goes into the and he starts talking to
JT Spangler: He starts, and yeah, starts with Charles.
Jeff: Charles. Charlie? um And he's like, you got the porno? I like the porno. like He calls it the porno, which is funny.
JT Spangler: Do you? He calls it the porno. He also just asked the hotel check -in clerk. He's like, He's like, do you whack it a lot out here? Do you get bored?
Jeff: How much is a lot?
JT Spangler: He's like, what's the line? He's like. like You know, like no one's around. You just go into one of the rooms.
Jeff: Oh, man. ah So, yeah, I like that part. And then of course, that leads right to the part that I remembered. before anything else, and that's the bodyguard singing in the shower.
Jeff: Um, I can't just, what the hell? It's ridiculous. I love it.
JT Spangler: It was just like the freaking Saturday Night Live character that he used to do, like the Italian singer guy.
Jeff: Yeah, yeah, yeah
JT Spangler: But it's... but it's classic. and And like. And then they're they're like starting to remember that they really got along really well because they're all pissed off. Like, Damon Wayans is pissed because he thinks that Adam Sandler shot him in the head.
JT Spangler: And Sandler's pissed because he pretended to be his friend for a year even though he was an undercover cop.
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: And so they're really mad at each other, but then they were starting to remember they're really good friends and like. they're just like watching freaking boxing or something on the tv and adamson is like I got the guy in the blue trunks. and And then Wayans is like, I... I'll take the yellow trunks, 20 bucks.
JT Spangler: And Adam sounds like we actually already owe me 20 bucks. He's like, for what? He's like Lakers at the forum. Uh, and then he like adam sandler like goes like point to him he realizes he's handcuffed he's He gets pissed off again.
Jeff: Gets all mad again. Yeah, that's pretty good.
JT Spangler: Like I liked all those parts when they were like.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: They'd be really mad at each other. And then they kind of remember that they're friends, like start laughing and then they get mad again.
Jeff: Yeah. I think... um I mean, we I think the people who listen to this know us well enough to know that we're not like this. but It's a little dated that you... two grown men can't even share a small confined motel room together without people.
Jeff: Thinking they're gay. Um, That part was crazy. I couldn't believe they took it that far. I know 90s. I remember a lot of... That kind of stuff.
Jeff: But like.
JT Spangler: Also, Adam Sandler's 29 during this movie, so a lot of his stand -up and, like, remember his comedy albums and stuff?
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: It was frickin'... He was 29 and I was 13 and it was frigging perfect for my maturity level.
Jeff: Right. Right. Look. Yeah.
JT Spangler: But yeah. it was I was like, holy shit, he really went there. And that cracked me up because I'm like, he couldn't do that in the remake. Just freaking.
Jeff: Yeah. Yeah.
JT Spangler: All that stuff. but Yeah, I had that scene. I really liked it. And then, of course, like they.
Jeff: um
JT Spangler: freaking people converge on the motel room and shoot it all up and they get away and Charles picks him up in the truck and Dude, his drive -away escape scene, he's like, that elm came back in a storm about a month ago last. or Like, here's where old lady, whatever, puts her cows.
Jeff: Yeah, he said sweat in there. Yeah.
JT Spangler: Like it is. It was freaking great.
Jeff: uh do you have a boner doing this everyone since we started Jesus. uh so what's your last one because i had the final showdown like at the
JT Spangler: The last one is Final Showdown as well at James Caan's.
Jeff: Yeah. Dude, did you recognize that? Did you recognize that mansion?
JT Spangler: Uh...
Jeff: When they were going to leave.
JT Spangler: Was it from the Was it from the...
Jeff: There is a.
JT Spangler: Beverly Hills Cop.
Jeff: Beverly Hills, it's in that too, but there's a bridge that they walk past over the pool. when they're walking out. And I was like, I feel like the red haired guy with the one eye that shoots people in Last Action Hero.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: I'm pretty sure that's the same pool. That the guy was in.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: It's the exact same house.
JT Spangler: Yeah, well, because when you were like... creeping in i was like dude this looks like the beverly hills cop house and i was like i'm I'm like, I'm sure it is because because it's l LA and it's like, yeah, it's got all the columns and stuff.
Jeff: it's ah It's all those little columns on there. Yeah. Yaya.
JT Spangler: That's... Badass. I thought you were going to ask if I recognize Damon Wayans'
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: a traitor girlfriend because I definitely do. From, uh... What should we call it? With Eddie Murphy.
Jeff: do Do little?
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Yeah, she was in all the Doolittles.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: um The girl with the devil eyes. Um, Yeah, do I like the the ending scene. It just... i The Tracy reveal.
Jeff: Tracy was her name, right? Yeah. the the trace Tracy reveal.
JT Spangler: Yeah, Tracy. No sister -in -law, baby cousin Tracy, a goddamn liar.
Jeff: yo She a liar.
Jeff: Dude. that she's been working this whole time for him for. ah Colton, the James Conn. Like I was like, all right, do we really couldn't he just save her and to get out of here?
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Why are we going to throw this extra shit in here? This is.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: I mean, it's...
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: It's silly. I guess it does complete the friendship story nicely structurally, but. It was a little too much. uh but i did like that whole thing they were shooting back and forth throwing each other the gun running out of bullets, taking bullets for him, that whole thing.
JT Spangler: I didn't mind the plotting because this is the era of like overly complicated action plots like
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: Frickin' Die Hard 3 that wasn't even supposed to be a Die Hard movie is one of the most complicated action movies ever, and we loved it.
Jeff: Yeah. Yeah I love that.
JT Spangler: And I also liked that Adam Sandler got got to keep saying to Damon Wayans, he's like, oh yeah, she pretended to be somebody else just to get close to you. No wonder you liked her so much. Like he just kept making sarcastic comments.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: And he's like, don't believe her.
Jeff: Yeah. Yeah.
JT Spangler: i But also like, dude, that whole like first of all, it's got good action, which I appreciate. And like they break in. He's like. And Adam Sandler's like, he's like, I know how to get into the house. He's like, this is...
JT Spangler: And Damon, ways he's like, what's this? He's like, this is the guest kitchen. It's the only room that doesn't have an alarm. Why would you alarm your whole giant mansion and not alarm one door? Doesn't matter.
Jeff: Doesn't matter, right?
JT Spangler: But Sandler's like, nobody ever uses it. So Damon Wayans breaks in. There's like 30 guys in there. And they all start shooting it out. And, dude, they're ducked down behind a counter while bullets are flying. And Adam Sandler's going, on I think they're having fajitas.
Jeff: They're having fajitas.
JT Spangler: Dude, all of that shit.
Jeff: Dude, I heard that. That's hilarious.
JT Spangler: Friggin' cracked me up. ah
Jeff: Yeah, that's funny.
JT Spangler: I loved it. And then like you were saying earlier, like freaking Tracy knocks him out and he's like, I learned how to fight. This is embarrassing.
Jeff: ah Dude. um What about the... It wasn't until they got to that kitchen and one of the guys standing by the fridge. Had the door open and he like closed it as he fell.
Jeff: And one of the squibs went off and I was like, oof.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: That looks like... I made it for one of my videos. like i I think that's the kind of stuff too, that the director and maybe even Sandler was talking about when they're like, I wish we could erase this and just do it again.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Because, like... I don't know that it didn't take me all the way out of it, but I'm just saying like every time I saw an i it, I was just like. God, they could have done, why didn't they spend 20?
JT Spangler: See, it's just like a...
Jeff: $3 million.
JT Spangler: That's exactly the production value I expected.
Jeff: dollars
JT Spangler: we Dude. First of all, they got Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: Both of those guys got to get paid and they're shooting in l LA.
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: which is expensive.
Jeff: Yeah. Yeah.
JT Spangler: like I think they just were like, hey, we'll make it work. like The guy fell into the microwave and the microwave door cracked. I was like, dude, I think you could hit a microwave door with a baseball bat and it wouldn't crack.
Jeff: It went back.
JT Spangler: i'm like i don't think if you shot it it would crack but um but it didn't really bother me like
Jeff: Right, now I know.
JT Spangler: This is what I expected from this movie.
Jeff: I know.
JT Spangler: But I hear you.
Jeff: Yeah. Um, All right, let's do quotes.
JT Spangler: I thought it was a really it was a really satisfying ending too after the shootout because he's like, hey man, just like...
Jeff: but
JT Spangler: Get out of here.
Jeff: What about the ending all the way in Mexico? Did you like that?
JT Spangler: Yes.
Jeff: I liked it too.
JT Spangler: Yeah. Yeah, dude, because the scene that I wanted...
Jeff: The dog passed out drinking.
JT Spangler: This scene that I wanted to put in there, I didn't have time for, is when he got pulled over and he was like a asleep. Alright. And frigging. And he's just like, and the Arizona Highway Patrol comes up to him and they're like.
JT Spangler: like a
Jeff: You been drinking?
JT Spangler: He's like, I had had half a beer.
Jeff: i't Have a beer.
JT Spangler: and His dog had a lot. And he speaks.
Jeff: wouldn't
JT Spangler: It's Game Boy. I'm on my way to Mexico. He's like, I'm going to start my life over. I'm going to be a bullfighter.
Jeff: What?
JT Spangler: He's just telling the cops what his plan is.
Jeff: what's What's the... Dude, what's the dog's name that was in the Budweiser commercials?
JT Spangler: Yeah, wasn't it?
Jeff: That look like that? Ah. Oh God.
JT Spangler: Was it Spot?
Jeff: No, it was something like that. Spuds?
JT Spangler: Spuds?
Jeff: Spud.
JT Spangler: Spuds McKenzie.
Jeff: Spuds McKenzie. That's what the dog reminded me of.
JT Spangler: Yeah, yeah did he definitely looked exactly like Spuds McKenzie.
Jeff: Yeah. He kept getting drunk on beer and at the end he was on margaritas. You saw the salt around the rim of the dog bowl.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Shit's ridiculous. And his mom's leaning against the jukebox getting high.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: ah Mom's dead in the second one, if you're wondering. I know you're not going to watch it, so I'm not spoiling it. but
JT Spangler: no You're not at all. Um,
Jeff: How is mom? You know she's dead. I'm like, whoa. Easy.
JT Spangler: and I don't I don't care how bad the 2050 podcast season gets. We're not doing that one.
Jeff: I thought we had to do every sequel of movies we've already done.
JT Spangler: No.
Jeff: I'm just kidding
JT Spangler: And we've definitely... so We've definitely skipped some stuff. um Yeah, dude, let's do quotes.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: My first one is, ah didn I can't say the whole thing.
Jeff: i don d mean that's a Dude, how'd you spell it in your in your thing?
JT Spangler: and see Oh, I spelled it normally.
Jeff: Oh, I spelled it D -I -S dash N -E -E dash L -A -N -D. Disneyland. I feel bad saying it like that.
JT Spangler: Well, at the end of the year, I'm going to feed all of my notes into Notebook LM, and it's going to tell me what I liked and didn't like. So I want to make sure everything is spelled properly. But yes.
Jeff: Oh yeah. Yeah yeah.
JT Spangler: That is the correct phonetic spelling. I just love it when he says that. Say it again. Disneyland.
Jeff: In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
JT Spangler: That I think is the most memorable. part of this movie. to me.
Jeff: Uh, yeah.
JT Spangler: That's my first one. And then the other one is it's like, look, kat he likes me. He like he just licked his balls. Now he's trying to get that taste out of his mouth. Uh, Feel like I said that one a lot.
Jeff: I like the, you better not kill me, man. I've got shit to do tomorrow. When they're driving in the very beginning and he's weaving into the traffic in the Ferrari. Um,
Jeff: That shit was great. I got shit to do tomorrow. Ah, freaking angry Sandler.
JT Spangler: And then the other one is the one that. Well, we just said, where are they at? Arizona Highway Patrol asked him if he'd been drinking. The car is freaking full of empty beer bottles. He's like. he's like I had a half a beer. The dog had a lot.
JT Spangler: I've said that a bunch of times I don't know why
Jeff: I also put down the one that's like, see that? Your head hurts because you feel guilty. No, my head hurts because you shot me in it. uh i Just thought that was hilarious. And I like how he had the metal plate and he was using it to like headbutt people and knock them out.
JT Spangler: Yeah. Yeah.
Jeff: ridiculous.
JT Spangler: I. uh I also had, that was some shitty shit you did to me, man. Because we used to say that all the time.
Jeff: shitty shit shitty shit was a big thing we said a lot a lot
JT Spangler: And then the other bonus quote that I had is just because I've thought about it and it's made me laugh a bunch of times.
Jeff: a lot.
JT Spangler: He's like, you didn't tell anybody in that stuff I told you in confidence. He's like, what do you mean?
Jeff: who
JT Spangler: Like, were you overly circumcised? He's like. That's bullshit! He's like, I said that to make you laugh! That's a joke!
Jeff: ah Overly circumcised is pretty funny. That's pretty funny. Ah.
JT Spangler: Yeah. it's
Jeff: That's it.
JT Spangler: But dude, this movie has got a lot of good quotes for 84 minutes and no one liking it and no one seeing it.
Jeff: Yeah. Bleh! that's That second part might be the issue. Maybe if more people see it, we could get the votes up. Everybody go watch this movie and vote on it.
Jeff: ah Can you still do that?
JT Spangler: Yes.
Jeff: Can you still change? The ah Rotten Tomatoes score?
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Like we could go in.
JT Spangler: Yeah dude, you can go. You can go do the right change the audience votes on Rotten Tomatoes right now.
Jeff: Oh nice. and Wait, the audience is what gave it eight? Or no, that was the critics.
JT Spangler: No, the critics gave it eight. And the audience gave it, the audience gave it.
Jeff: Buen dia.
JT Spangler: 3 .7 out of 10.
Jeff: That ain't good either
JT Spangler: Not great. No.
Jeff: All right, let's do characters.
JT Spangler: Yeah, I got Adam Sandler, Damon Wayans, and the dog.
Jeff: I put James Caan in there. i Dude, I like James Caan. That guy's freaking crazy.
JT Spangler: I got ah James Caan, who was a bonus character for me, and so was ah Bill Nunn III, who takes a break from hiding Dolores Van Cartier to appear in this movie.
Jeff: Yeah, as soon as I saw it, I was like, ooh, Citrax!
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Um,
JT Spangler: Yeah. Sergeant Eddie.
Jeff: Sergeant Eddie.
JT Spangler: He's playing the exact same character with the exact same mustache.
Jeff: Um...
JT Spangler: I like it.
Jeff: Yeah. Same suit. Same.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: I promise I'm... a real cop. um Yeah, dude, this is Adam Sandler. He's 29, like you said. I put all of the stuff like he did, like coneheads, airheads.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: um billy madison he does happy gilmore like all of that stuff is all right before this and then he finishes out with a ton of good movies like dude This is pre.
Jeff: Superstar Adam Sandler, and I like that.
JT Spangler: Well, he that that video that you sent me of the two of them doing like...
Jeff: Um,
JT Spangler: like junket stuff for the movie they just like they'll just put the whole like 25 minute thing on youtube and you can it's so the questions they're getting are so bad
Jeff: Yeah. We do. Go to the honking.
JT Spangler: But you can tell they're like having a fun time cracking each other up.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: and they And they said in that that like.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: Damon Wayans hosted. Saturday Night Live, I don't know. Why? Uh, but Adam Sandler was on SNL at the time and he was like, And Adam Sandler's like, dude, we should do a movie together. We should. And they had the same agent. And so they said, like, let's find something that we can do together.
Jeff: yeah
JT Spangler: And. And they found this and they did it. And I know that like everyone wishes that. It hadn't happened, but like I liked when Adam Sandler didn't... Only do movies that were written and directed.
Jeff: But, yeah.
JT Spangler: with him and his same like group of people
Jeff: I was going to say, yeah, his his crew. Yeah.
JT Spangler: We got some amazing stuff from that.
Jeff: that.
JT Spangler: I'm not saying he should stop. But I liked when someone else was like, dude, we got a comedy.
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: You could just do it. You'd be good.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: um
Jeff: Yeah, yeah
JT Spangler: Because he hasn't done a movie like this ever since. and i Kind of wish he had. I mean, he's done.
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: you know. Plenty of good stuff, but nothing since freaking Grown Ups 2 that I really liked. He's done a bunch of okay Netflix stuff.
Jeff: Yeah. and But a lot of that stuff I put in the same, not the same vein as this is like. uh, like action and stuff but i'm saying like The one where he's on the boat with Jennifer Aniston's his wife and they're trying to figure out who done it.
JT Spangler: Yeah, I like that one.
Jeff: That was good.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: But like... Is that like the...
JT Spangler: That one's...
Jeff: When you think of Adam him Sandler movies.
JT Spangler: That was less funny than this.
Jeff: What's that? Oh, yeah.
JT Spangler: That one's less fun than this.
Jeff: It's way less funny. That's what I'm saying. like I don't think that is like a. I don't even think of that when I think of Adam Sandler. I kind of put these all kind of.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: lumped together like little nikki do you remember that one Raise like the...
JT Spangler: Yeah, dude
Jeff: Freaking devilish.
JT Spangler: Little Nicky is like better than you. If you if you think Little Nicky's bad, you should go watch Hubie Halloween.
Jeff: It's hilarious.
JT Spangler: Or some of that shit that he's done on Netflix where it's like, that is ah horrible.
Jeff: No, no. that No, that's what I'm saying. like There's movies that I...
JT Spangler: Or even like Zohan. like though I don't like it that much, but it's way better than the stuff he's done in the last 10 years.
Jeff: Zohan is kind of funny, though. So it is kind of funny.
JT Spangler: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Jeff: Um, Then there's Damon Wayans who plays the straight man who's also funny. um
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: He's... In his 30s? 35? How old did you say he was?
JT Spangler: He's 35.
Jeff: thirty 35 36 somewhere in there he just did blank man he he was on in living color He did last Boy Scout.
JT Spangler: and Well, he did like. Yeah, because after In Living cover he in Color, he did Last Boy Scout, Mo Money, Last Action Hero, Major Pain. And then this year he does Celtic Pride and Bulletproof and Great White Hype.
JT Spangler: And then he did blank man in 94, which is still. is one of my biggest regrets.
Jeff: Oh.
JT Spangler: that I didn't do it.
Jeff: No, we didn't do. Yeah.
JT Spangler: for the 94 season of this podcast.
Jeff: Yeah. Um, He was with Bruce Willey in Last Boy Scout. I remember liking that, but I haven't seen it in such a long time.
JT Spangler: I like... I liked the last Boy Scout. We didn't do it in 91 because it was our first year doing the podcast and we didn't do all, we didn't, we started in like middle of the year.
Jeff: Yeah. Yeah.
JT Spangler: But I like it. I like less Boy Scout.
Jeff: Um, He also did... ah He played... Murtaugh. he played in in the lethal weapon tv show cat used to watch that all the time
JT Spangler: Yep. and uh and a TV show.
Jeff: Um,
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: so And the Wayans family has been in everything. so uh they're all funny and i wish uh this could have been more i think dude did it not feel like he was like Constraint? I don't know.
Jeff: i don't know It just felt like he didn't have the freedom that. He could have just riffed. I felt like he could have been way funny.
JT Spangler: Yeah. Well, I kind of wondered, like, the funny stuff from this movie, the quotes that we're talking about, like six or seven, like, did they? improv that because I look at the writers of this movie. And I don't, I never heard of him.
JT Spangler: Um, Like Joe Gaten. Um, He wrote Uncommon Valor
Jeff: oh Yeah.
JT Spangler: In 83. And then he wrote this, and then he wrote... faster in 2010. That's the entirety. of his uh film credits
Jeff: Right. And the other guy didn't write a lot of stuff either.
JT Spangler: And Lewis Kolek, the co -writer, has...
Jeff: His stuff was...
JT Spangler: ah He wrote Judgment Night.
Jeff: Nothing.
JT Spangler: Uh...
Jeff: That one was alright.
JT Spangler: Bulletproof.
Jeff: goes to Mississippi.
JT Spangler: October sky.
Jeff: I like that one. up
JT Spangler: So I'm like, they like.
Jeff: All right.
JT Spangler: I don't think of either of those guys were.
Jeff: But those those aren't funny. You know what I'm saying?
JT Spangler: Right. That's what I'm saying. It's like. Yeah, it's...
Jeff: I don't know.
JT Spangler: it's It's not like the guys who wrote The League of Their Own. Where I'm like, oh dude, everything they write is hilarious.
Jeff: Right. Yeah. Just wall to wall bangers.
JT Spangler: Yeah, Babalu and Mendel.
Jeff: Um, Yeah.
JT Spangler: uh, Babalu Mendel and Lowell Gantz. Like those guys is like, they're going to put out nothing. Or like Shane Black. It's like everything he writes is hilarious. Like those guys.
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: me i Okay. i Guess? I mean... So I'm just thinking and like that a lot of the funny stuff came from Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler is my guess.
Jeff: Right. my right Um, My third one I put. James Conn because... Dude, freaking Misery Godfather.
JT Spangler: Yeah, dude James Caan is legit.
Jeff: bridge too far and all this stuff.
JT Spangler: He just didn't do that much in this movie, and I felt like there were probably plenty of people who could have played that part.
Jeff: Um, Yeah.
Jeff: Dude, in this, but in 96 he does... Bulletproof. He does Eraser. With, uh... Arnold Schwarzenegger.
JT Spangler: Yep.
Jeff: He does the Wes Anderson movie we were talking about, Bottle Rocket.
JT Spangler: Yep.
JT Spangler: Bottle rocket.
Jeff: There's some other movie North Star like he. He freaking knocks it out of the park. and In the... ah In 96. ah When Cece saw him, she recognized him from Elf.
JT Spangler: Yep.
Jeff: Like the dad from out so like I had to put James Gunn.
JT Spangler: i feel like he I feel like he was one of the only people while they were making Elf that didn't understand what was going on because I feel like I read that he like hated that movie and then saw it and was like, oh, never mind. I get it now.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: Which kind of made it perfect for that performance because he was super grumpy during the whole thing
Jeff: yeah he was just like what the hell Get the hell away from me.
JT Spangler: ah But anyway, director, writer, we talked about the writers, the director, Ernest Dickerson.
Jeff: Stop putting syrup on me.
JT Spangler: who said, like, I wish I hadn't done that one. um But he did stuff like Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X. um
Jeff: he was Yeah, he was the...
JT Spangler: Bones.
Jeff: the cinematographer right or a director of photography or something for for all those movies for Spike Lee. And then he did like juice.
JT Spangler: Yeah, did a bunch did a bunch of Spike Lee stuff, yeah.
Jeff: He directed Juice. He did, dude, that Tales from the Crypt movie with Billy Zane, Demon Knight.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: I used to love that it was so freaking weird. I used to love it ah but And those two movies together. They said, oh, well, let's give him the. blade movie with wesley snipes and they started developing uh blade with wesley snipes they said they were going to give it to him And then the awful reviews came back from Bulletproof.
Jeff: um He lost his, quote, street cred.
JT Spangler: Oh.
Jeff: And the the project just kind of disappeared. so I mean, it eventually comes out in what, two years?
JT Spangler: Oh, that's a bummer. Yeah.
Jeff: with somebody else but
JT Spangler: He also was the cinematographer for Eddie Murphy Raw, which is pretty cool.
Jeff: Yeah, that is cool. That's cool. Um, He did like parts of the wire and. did it walking dead and stuff like that yeah
JT Spangler: Yeah. Let's hit some stuff. what ah What else you got for any bonus good? Other than the soundtrack, which we talked about.
Jeff: Um. Yeah, the soundtrack. I wanted to, Bledsoe, the guy you're talking about, he played Bane in the Batman and Robin that we're probably not going to do next year.
JT Spangler: Nice.
Jeff: um Also, um in the bonus kid i just i put it's only 84 minutes and i made it in bold and really big I feel like that deserves something. like The movie starts and everybody betrays everybody. Somebody gets shot in the head. They go on a road trip. Everybody tries to kill him. There's more betrayal. James Caan dies. There's Mexico. There's credits. All of that.
Jeff: You cram it in. to 84 minutes that's pretty good I'll take it.
JT Spangler: Yeah. Yeah, I'm saying.
Jeff: I'll take it
JT Spangler: They did a lot of stuff.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: All right, Worst, you talked a bit a little bit about the like special effects.
Jeff: Yeah.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: Like some of the squibs and stuff like that.
Jeff: Dad. Yeah, that was that was not that good. um There was no rain. yeah That's always a plus, right?
JT Spangler: No.
Jeff: um
JT Spangler: Couldn't afford it.
Jeff: Do you think that they could have made James Caan his... like delve deeper into his character. i don't think I don't think you need to.
JT Spangler: No, dude, I thought he was I thought he was kind of cartoonish and that was the perfect thing to be for the amount that he was on screen.
Jeff: See ya. Yeah.
JT Spangler: Because he was like kind of funny. He had a couple scenes where he was like kind of scary, but also kind of funny. I'm like, that's... I thought that was the note perfect.
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: Like I would have put him.
Jeff: EIL.
JT Spangler: Had the dog not been so great, I would have put him in there.
Jeff: ah Stupid spuds.
JT Spangler: That's my third character. dont know
Jeff: Dude, I put a note in there that I wish that the two, Wayans and Sandler, I wish they would have been more serious more. ah because I think they could have done that and pulled it off.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: but Um, i know what this movie was like they're good Good buddy movie
JT Spangler: Yeah, I'm sure they're... able to do it but i also don't know if this movie was really the time to like Stretch those ah dramatic muscles.
Jeff: Yeah.
Jeff: Right.
JT Spangler: but
Jeff: Now I get it.
JT Spangler: All right, man, let's do a political incorrectness. Obviously one of the most memorable quotes is dropping a hard R, which you're not supposed to do anymore.
Jeff: right right right right
JT Spangler: of Which is why neither of us included it in our. Part of the quote.
Jeff: Yes.
JT Spangler: Okay.
Jeff: um Yeah, a lot of gay panic. here. some sexual assault jokes
JT Spangler: Yeah. At that one point, Damon Wayans said to another... ah cop who was like giving him stuff he's like anybody ever tell you you look like a struck match and i was like I don't think that's appropriate.
JT Spangler: ah
Jeff: Um, It was pretty funny though.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: That guy had the longest jerry curl. jeez
JT Spangler: Yes, he did. But all right, five questions. Is it okay for kids?
Jeff: Um. Well, it's rated R. um My 13 -year -old could watch it for sure with no problem.
JT Spangler: It's rated R.
JT Spangler: There's fake blood.
Jeff: and
JT Spangler: There's some F bombs.
Jeff: He probably would think it's funny.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: CC walked through and was like, no, thanks.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: But saw James Connan. Recognized him. So at least there's that. ah It says brief nudity.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: You think that's... ah Adam Sandler's butt trying to crawl out of the window with a gun in it.
JT Spangler: Yes, yes I do.
Jeff: Yeah, yeah. I don't think that was Adam Sandler's butt.
JT Spangler: I think that's what got that. uh
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: Which I'm sure is why your sister watched this movie a bunch.
Jeff: Yeah, even though it's not his butt.
JT Spangler: No.
Jeff: That's just silly.
JT Spangler: so
Jeff: That's just, it's a stud butt.
JT Spangler: Stunt butt. would Would this movie get made if it were pitched now?
Jeff: um
JT Spangler: Yes, because they did it.
Jeff: ah Dude, this concept.
JT Spangler: Cheers, you go.
Jeff: absolutely dude but this concept this buddy cop um
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Action comedy. They could do this.
JT Spangler: Action comedy, action comedy two.
Jeff: Not this exact movie. but
JT Spangler: This is great because you're... your buddies for part of it, and then your adversarial for part of it. It's really fun.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: You get funny people like.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: You probably can do it. Like, who's the... ah God. Death.
Jeff: i did I did some recasting in it. just
JT Spangler: I did some too, but I'd forgotten. Who's the SNL guy? Dick in a Box, Andy Samberg.
Jeff: Sandberg. Is he too old to do this?
JT Spangler: Like somebody like that who's like. He's too old.
Jeff: Yeah.
JT Spangler: I mean, he's not too old in the modern world, but these guys are 35 and 29. You can't find anyone famous under the age of 30 unless they were in Stranger Things.
Jeff: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
JT Spangler: like them Like as far as like acting goes.
Jeff: ah So do you make it a TV show?
JT Spangler: um Noted.
Jeff: Or you got to keep it a movie.
JT Spangler: What? I mean, you could, but let's make it a movie. But yeah, I did some recasting too. You hit me first.
Jeff: Yeah. All right. So. um I want Lakeith Stanfield for... Uh, Keats or Carter or whoever you want to call him.
JT Spangler: Yeah.
Jeff: Uh, This is... i feel like it's not going to be perfect, but I think I want Pete Davidson for. Adam Sandler, is he too old? i know he's like we said he's not
JT Spangler: I don't know.
Jeff: Too old, but I think he's old.
JT Spangler: ah The next time Pete Davidson says something funny will be the first time I've ever seen him say something funny. so I would not have him on my list.
Jeff: I like Pete Davidson. I think he's funny. um
JT Spangler: I think he's likable. I just don't think he's ever said or done anything funny, even accidentally.
Jeff: Yeah. And then for...
JT Spangler: I tried to watch a couple of his standup specials and I was like, I don't understand what's happening.
Jeff: No, I don't like his stand -up that much. ah for the For the James Caan role, I want Marsha Hala Ali, who's going to play the new Blade, to keep it. Circular. or was going to play the new blade.
JT Spangler: Yeah. He's he's not going to play the new blade. He backed out.
Jeff: Yeah. Yeah. I think they scrapped it anyway.
JT Spangler: But... Yeah. They did. um yeah dude that's pretty good i like that i had a couple of good casting options i think i want uh Michael Cera to play the Adam Sandler part.
Jeff: Nice.
JT Spangler: Because I could see him getting beat up.
Jeff: Nice!
JT Spangler: By a girl, and also he's like kind of sarcastic and be funny.
Jeff: Yeah. And when he gets angry, it's so crazy.
JT Spangler: and uh Yeah, it' it's... It cracks me up.
Jeff: It's kind of scary.
JT Spangler: And then I got i got John Boyega as Damon Wayans.
